I hope no-one minds me posting this. These are some of my fave details. This post, is my thinking out loud. I know it’s all on screen. And you will all have seen this. It’s all obvious. I hope this post isn’t demeaning to you all. We, fellow fans of the world of Pandora. I hope you guys won’t object to this. These are the ramblings of a fan. One who went to see the movie in 3D about 20 times back when it was first released. But I love watching again and again and seeing these small(And large) details. I’ve wanted to write this stuff down for ages. I made these notes rewatching today after work. Constantly shifting scales in the movie. From the very beginning. Jake. Seeing small water bubbles. The cryo pods showing how huge the interior of the ship is. Relative to Jake(Relative to water bubbles). Exterior of the huge Ship, with shuttles for scale(And the shot with Jake in the cryo chambers, showing us how monstrous the ship is). Pandora showing how small the ship is. Shuttle detaches. It’s tiny entering atmosphere. Then we see it flying over the huge mine. With giant trucks(With humans for scale). And huge arrows in the tyres. We see scorpions in scale with the shuttle. And how big the shuttle’s interior bay is. How small Jake is compared to the trucks toting the ore. But how large the Avatar is compared to Jake. Jake nearly gets stepped on by an AMP suit(One of a series of “no-one paying Jake any mind until he’s in his Avatar body”). Selfridge using his new putter. “You see that?” “Yes sir. “ “No you didn’t, you were looking at the monitor”. But the guy Was watching. He did look. Makes me wonder if the company sent him a new putter on the ship? We see a “Stargate style” tunnel when Jake links with his avatar. “It’s all good, I got this”. Jake always trying to run before he can walk. And he does a way better job of running than Norm(Who has 520 hours of link time). Grace’s Avatar wears a Stanford shirt. Just a funny bit of snobbery, many light years from campus. And the fact that Grace’s Avatar looks way more human than Jake and Norm’s. Their noses are far closer to the Na’Vi norm than Grace’s is. Perhaps hinting that the original avatars(Grace may even have the original Avatar), was far closer to a human look than the later versions. That the “Avatar pen” where they leave their Avatars for the evening before unlinking, locks from the INSIDE. Grace closes the doors and locks it. So that means possibly no one can go in and mess with their Avatars while they are sleeping. But the most important part of this scene is to see that, when their Avatars go to sleep, the neural link shuts off. This is very important for later. When Jake meets Quaritch and Quaritch is suiting up in his AMP suit(Foreshadowing that, as small as Jake is in his wheelchair, he will be more than a match for that same AMP suit in his avatar), When Quaritch does a bit of shadow boxing, he nearly takes Jake’s head off. When we see Jake and Norm in their avatars, they stick to the human conventions of wearing scaled up clothing. But they are always sweating. Those bodies are built for the jungles of Pandora. And don’t need clothing. Jake’s face is dripping with sweat. Only when he gets to home tree and is clothed in a loin cloth, does this copious sweating stop. Another scale comparison. The avatars are shown to be tiny compared to local trees. And thanators. The Thanator chase systematically strips Jake of his tech. He loses his gun, his backpack, and, when he jumps in the river, his comms headset and throat mic. He takes off his jacket to make his torch, further stripping him(But he’s still dripping with sweat). He’s left only with his knife and hand to hand skills. But he would still have been killed if it weren’t for Neytiri. The unnatural light from his torch stops him from realising his Avatar has phenomenal night vision. Indeed, his avatar has its own bio luminescence. He fights well against the attack. And the realisation that he never needed the torch hits hard. When he says “why save me?” And Neytiri is taken aback and says he has a strong heart. No fear. This is their meeting. With the foresight of TWOW, we know She just met the father of her children. She already has scars from battle. One of the most prominent is on her right cheek under her eye. She has fought battles. And some have been close. She’s a warrior. Later, when she tells Jake how to know an Ikran has chosen a rider. “It will try to kill you”. And she did the same earlier. When the seeds alight on Jake and Neytiri must have literally never seen anything like it. It truly must be a sign from Eywa to her. And when Tsu’Tey and the warriors arrive, Jake loses his last human weapon when he has to drop his knife. The incredible scale of hometree. And the great dialogue from Eytukan. “His alien smell fills my nose”. When Jake has been cleaned up and has a loin cloth, he feels so self conscious. And when he finally goes to sleep, the link closes down. Later in the movie when Quaritch and his goons shut down the link machine, we realise why it’s dangerous and why Grace didn’t just do this when Jake disappeared earlier. We also see here how much of a drug it is for Jake to have working legs and an 18ft body. He’s finally alive. After a long time in a wheelchair, he’s living in a way that few humans have(In the crumbling Blade Runner-esque world he comes from). Able to be with nature. And the problem is that real Jake. The one in the wheelchair is just starting his suffering. He desperately wants to exist full time in that avatar. They have to force him to eat. And he’s not fully thinking it all through. He wants to get back into his Avatar. But he needs his real body to be fed and watered before he does. Because his real body is wasting away all those hours he spends in the link machine. The great look of disdain from Norm(Who was obviously hoping that he would be the bridge between humanity and Na’Vi) in the mess hall. And the brief period of animosity between him and Jake before he realises they were never enemies. The slow breaking down of tensions between Neytiri and Jake. And the continuous tensions between Tsu’Tey and Jake that will only break when he says “I will fly with you” later, making their brotherhood so very earned. From both ends. The cool detail of them going up into the mountains. But taking their human bodies AND Avatars with them. So. They had to link up with their avatars, “drive them” into the back of the Samson, unlink, then get into the same Samson, so they could fly up to the mountains. It’s that perfect Cameron visual storytelling that packs every frame with “blink and you miss it” information. We see Trudy and Norm getting closer. When we first see Seyzey, we see another scale comparison. We know Jake and Neytiri are 18ft tall. So the Ikran must be absolutely enormous next to humans(Later, we see Ikran taking down Scorpions and Samsons, but for now, you once again realise the scale of things on Pandora). When Jake falls asleep during a video log, Grace is able to put him into his bunk. He’s so tired that he doesn’t have the energy to be upset like he was earlier. But she shows a gentleness and care for him that would have been hard to imagine when they first met. When Jake and the other “young hunters” go to tame their Ikran, Tsu’Tey takes them on the slow way. And it looks three miles straight down. But Neytiri came up the easy way, riding Seyzey. And, as an aside, the fact Jake was able to close his Ikran’s mouth and make the bond, makes Quaritch’s “taming of the Ikran” even more impressive in TWOW. And the detail that Seyzey has a harness and saddle. With foot stirrups. But as Jake’s Ikran doesn’t have that yet, he has to put his heels into his Ikran’s “nostrils”. When Jake and Neytiri are talking about flying, she says “I turned very fast”, and he corrects her saying “I banked to hard”, showing that Jake is now teaching Neytiri, and this is a turning point in their relationship. He’s teaching her terms she never knew. Their run in with the Toruk, foreshadowing that Jake will ride Toruk himself. “You’re gonna get your legs back. Done deal”. Like that would mean anything to Jake after being on Pandora. Even having to go back to earth is like a prison sentence after spending 12 weeks on Pandora. We also know the Ometikaya are early to bed. In one of Jake’s video logs, he’s knackered and says “it’s 21:30, can I do this tomorrow?!?”, indicating that his avatar is in its hammock and sleeping. As an aside, when the tree of the ancestors is being knocked down, selfridge is eating a bag of potato chips. What must the dollar value of a pack of chips be, that may have had to be shipped light years away to Pandora. Although. That makes me extrapolate and wonder. Can they grow potatoes on Pandora? If they could, maybe they grow potatoes on planet and fry and bag them there. Just thinking out loud, lol. Otherwise, a bag of chips will be tens of thousands of dollars worth having to haul them out of a gravity well and across light years, lol. Just a stupid thought I had. When hometree comes down we have that musical cue that was first used in the Will Smith movie “Seven Pounds” that gets used for the felling of hometree, and the killing of the Tulkun and calf in TWOW. It’s a powerful piece of scoring that will likely be used in each Avatar movie. A lovely image, after they escape from the base, when they take the remote base. Trudy is lifting off the base, Norm is inside, transmitting into his avatar that is standing on the outside. Jake is tending to Grace. Just a beautiful image. Outcast, betrayer, alien. But for all this, in a grey, ashen world, after the destruction of hometree, Jake finds he has not been left by his Ikran. It’s there waiting for him. And the power of Neytiri looking at Jake when he dismounts from Toruk. She looks him up and down. “I see you.” Once again, Jake walks towards them, bereft of weapons. His knife was dropped in the ground in hometree when he refused to fight Tsu’Tey. The rousing speech where Jake asks Tsu’Tey to translate for him. Jake can speak just fine. But this finally bridges the gap between them. When Tsu’Tey says “I will fly with you”, I get a tear in my eye every time. They are brothers. They always were. But it took Jake taming Toruk for Tsu’Tey to see it. And believe it. You see it in Tsu’Teys face when he translates. He is a brother to Jake, now and always. “And this! This is our land!” I like to imagine them flying out and getting the Metkayina. Even though we don’t see it. “I’m probably just talking to a tree right now”. Jake takes a stance that seems alien to Neytiri. “More sky people are gonna come. They’re gonna come like a rain that will never end”(And how prescient that was). But the fact that Eywa not only heard Jake, but that the “immune response” he triggered is still in effect in TWOW. So he was right. But it took Grace being “uploaded” into Eywa for the planetary immune response to properly understand the threat. Seeing the shuttle with weapons emplacements built on top gives more of a scale realisation of how big it is. Seeing the battle in the Hallelujah mountains makes me wonder. Is “high camp” near here? I e could have seen it in these scenes and not known there were caves in there. The last stand of Tsu’Tey, that highlights the amazing score again. And shows, once again, the huge scale advantage that the Na’Vi have over the humans, then again, he gets shot and falls out of the shuttle. “Rogue one is hit. Going in. Sorry Jake”. I tear up every time. That low point. I have tears in my eyes now. Each time Neytiri says “They are very close. There are many”. I always imagine she’s about to die. It strikes me that, When you have loved someone with all your heart, the idea they are about to die, is so powerful. I always picture a similar situation with me and my wife. And with Jake and Neytiri, he knows she will never back down. Just as he will never back down. She has her back to that tree. And in every rewatch, I always picture losing my wife. It’s a powerful moment. I literally cry every time. And that moment where Eywa answers Jake’s call. I have never cheered so much at the death of human characters at the hands of aliens so much. “EYWA HAS HEARD YOU!!” And the scale of the riderless Ikran taking down the scorpions and Samsons. And that one grenade from Jake took down the Valkyrie’s front port side engine just in time to stop it from deploying. And another scale image, showing, no matter how large the Dragon is, Jake is still formidable hanging off the missile pylon. And also how absolutely fearless he is, based on his training from Neytiri about being able to absorb falling by slowing down on leaves. A cool detail that Quaritch gets a fire on his shoulder. And pats it out. And his AMP suit also has a fire on the same shoulder when he lands. Just a small, easy to miss detail. I live the fact that the AMP suit has a rear view mirror. And that, because we saw it earlier, we know the Thanator can easily snap human weapons. Another nice touch is showing that Tsahelyu goes both ways when Quaritch stabs the Thanator Neytiri is bonded with and she screams. So she feels the impact. And once again, for scale we see how massive the Thanator is compared even to the AMP suit. “You think you’re one of them? Time to wake up”. Jake has said so many times that being in his avatar feels like real life. And Quaritch smashing the window of the “shack” really is a wake up call. He is human. Earlier in the movie, Quaritch mentioned that the Na’Vi dip their arrows in a neurotoxin that will stop your heart in a minute. I don’t know if it stacks, but she shoots him twice, and he drops dead in less than thirty seconds. Another scaling issue is seeing how massive Neytiri is compared to human Jake. She recognises him because she has seen his Avatar. But, this is them seeing each other in person for the first time. And it’s powerful moment. He says “I see you”. And it’s the culmination of an entire movie’s worth of alien knowledge and language. Built up over more than two hours. “I see you”. Has become more than the sum of three words. “This is Jake Sully signing off.” We saw them try and fail(Or so we think), with Grace. And then we see them succeed with Jake Soolee. It’s a masterpiece. Not only of storytelling. But of saying so much in every frame. I see more every time. And I hope to see more with each watch. If you are a fan, and read one new thing from this post, I am happy. This post is very long, as I am a certified yapper.
Well, like the title says, my "mother" (IDK what else i should call her bc she didn't give birth to me, I'm adopted, so "birth giver" is out) came by my apartment that I share with my partner (29m) and dropped off a clear tote box with my name on it, full of pictures, drawings, awards and other things from my childhood. She arrived in a car driven by one of my older sisters, who I am also no contact with. She didn't ring the doorbell or knock. the only reason i know she came is obviously the box and the ring doorbell video. this happened literally 15 minutes before i pulled into my driveway.
This isn't the first time she has showed up to my door unannounced and the first time she even brought my niece to manipulate me into speaking with her, and it worked. I won't say it was a mistake as the conversation I had with her showed me that she still cannot accept accountability (or even validate that she hurt me) or manage to have a conversation that isn't about her and what she is doing/going through. But oddly after that situation she didn't bother me as much. she used to send me and my partner pestering emails, blowing up phones with fake numbers and making new social media accounts after hers were blocked. They had even contacted my partner's son to put a bug in his ear as well (ew).
Like most no contact adult children, I did not have a very great or supportive childhood. With a narcissistic mother whose special interest was emotional manipulation and hating women, an emotionally unavailable father who often was gone for work and only cared when it disrupted his quiet time watching Saving Private Ryan or Forrest Gump for the 400th time, and some mental illnesses that went unchecked until adulthood (my parents were even so kind to give me a couple more for the road), I wasn't exactly set up for success. But, the horrors persist and so do I.
Back to the box.
In this box are mother's day and birthday cards that i had bought and also made by hand for her over the years. There are all my pictures from when i was a baby, from family vacations and all of my school photos. She kept nothing from what i can tell. Not even the things i made specifically for her out of the love in my heart (or maybe the desperate need to try and get my mother to love me?). I would have thought that since she had been "fighting so hard" for me to talk to her and come back to the family that she would have kept these things, if not for the memories, maybe in hopes I would come back for them? Maybe she doesn't want me to come back for them. It's not like i was going to. I don't need or want reminders of my depressed childhood. Even looking at some of the photos of myself, I just look sad and dead behind the eyes in most of them.
I looked through and found a note I typed for them for a school thing (they always made us do this nonsense during like mother's day and whatnot). In it the second line reads "I know i can be difficult and Thank you for putting up with everything I put you through." This made me cry a bit as I honestly wasn't a bad kid. I didn't drink or do drugs (even though they accused me of it all throughout my teens years bc I slept a lot), lie, cheat or steal. I struggled in school but no duh since i had some mental issues nobody was doing anything for. I just had some mental issues no one wanted to help me with. it's not okay to make any child feel like such a burden and that they have to be "put up with" at all. Especially when you already had 3 kids and CHOSE to get a 4th. This family CHOSE ME. My "mother" was never pregnant with me. She made the choice to adopt a child to bring into their home and then turned around and made that already unwanted child feel even more unwanted and rejected their entire life.
Leaving this box at my door proved to me what I had felt the whole time; the fighting was a show. She never actually wanted me around and I knew that. I always knew that. She made sure of it. But something about being right still hurts like hell.
I've worked through a lot of guilt and it has been just under a year that i officially decided to cut contact with them. I was going to therapy for a while but it got too expensive. Things are getting easier. This action hurt me, but not as much as I expected it to. I have cried my tears, grieved, and I am ready to move forward. Our lease at our apartment is up soon and we will be able to move. My family will not know where we move and it will be the official last time they have even the slightest chance of ever seeing or speaking to me again. I have often weighed my feelings about going no contact and have ultimately decided that I made the right decision. Listening to other no contact adult children and some reading I did helped me realize that. Almost a year later I am much happier and more confident with myself than i thought really possible. Turns out I don't suck. I still struggle and hurt every now and then but time heals all wounds with a bit of love and support. Thankfully, I have that now.

I’m in the middle of playing Yakuza 0, but wanted to take a little break and try out the infamous Yakuza: Dead Souls when a dear friend of mine offered to bring his PS3 over so we can play a PS3 store version of the game.
My friend and I absolutely blasted our way through this game, the campaign taking us about 9 hours to complete with one break in between. We didn’t really partake in any side content or explore much as we were desperate to reach the end in our limited time frame. If anyone else has played Dead Souls and can reccomend any substories or things we missed by purely focusing on the campaign that would be great! I’m already curious about a series of Date substories and whatever substory includes Daigo doing drag?
Per usual with my reviews I may seem overly praising or overly critical, who knows, but either way if you can be nice to me in the comments when you tell me how stupid I am that would be great! Also please no spoilers for other games! I’d love to hear other peoples thoughts tho!
This game is structured pretty similarly to Y4 and Y5 so I’ll split up some thoughts and summary by section.
Plot:
Part 1: Akiyama
We actually start off in Okinawa with Kiryu receiving a phone call about Haruka being kidnapped in Kamurocho so he needs to head down there stat. But I want to start off by saying I was so happy to see my beautiful Morning Glory orphanage on my favorite beach, looking just like it did in Y3 really made me nostalgic, except wait! This is the ? Sunshine Orphanage? I guess in earlier translations of the game they went with a different name for the orphanage, maybe because of the unfortunate connotation the term Morning Glory has in English, or maybe they ended up changing it in later games because Sunshine felt too similar to Sunflower? I really dont know.
But we cut to Akiyama and Hana! And she isn’t deflated :) which is the way god intended. Akiyama and Hana are actually right in the middle of the outbreak as we see a zombie fall out of a building onto Theater Square. We do see how this happened with a very suspicious scrawny zombie being the culprit of it spreading but I’ll talk more about him later. We get a gun soon after and Akiyama be shooting zombies. He rightfully is a little shook about the fact that he just murdered three people but him and Hana go back to the office and sleep there over night. When they wakeup the outbreak is fully spread everywhere and Hana is feeling very sick. Thankfully she just has the flu, but Akiyama leaves to go find a doctor for her and we get alot of him running back and forth from the safe zones and the quarantine zones, he makes a friend along the way named Nagahama but hes so uninteresting that I wont expand upon that.
Eventually, after many trials and tribulations we reunite with Hana and give her some medicine. Can I just say the romantic tension between Hana and Akiayama here is INSANE. Because we know that Hana is actually the strongest Yakuza character of all time, they had to make her sick in order to not make the game end in 5 seconds because of her sheer force of power.
It ends with a boss fight with LITERALLY a licker from resident evil but with a lame ass forgettable name. I really loved the monster (cuz it was very familiar) and I liked the fight to a degree, I think this fight went on way too long, if it had maybe one and a half health bars it wouldve felt perfect but instead it had like 5 of them so it went forever and all tension was gone by the time you defeated it.
From here we cut to our next character!
Majima:
Probably one of if not the best part of the game is the beginning of the Majima section. Here, he is seen watching a zombie movie and having the absolute time of his life only for REAL zombies to show up. As you can imagine he doesn't take it very seriously and is just having a ball of fun the whole time. You go stock up on materials, leave the Millenium Tower and fight a short and sweet boss battle with Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four. THEN you go to the grand opening of Kamurocho Hills because zombies have crashed it.
On your way there we actually meet Nikaido who is kind of our big bad of the game. He’s an acceptable villain, but I can't get over how poorly rendered his hair is in the version I played on the PS3! His hair looked like it was etch-a-sketch’d on! This is the guy who has kidnapped Haruka and is causing the apocalypse. It’s a quick interaction before you continue on and get to Kamurocho hills.
There you shoot your way in, and into the area where survivors are and!!! DAIGO IS HERE! Yay. Daigo is actually our partner for this part of the story and I really enjoyed it, I wish I got to hang out with my boy Daigo more in games. We also meet a little girl who is really nice to Majima and clearly looks up to him but he seems SO uncomfortable it’s hilarious. At some point Majima get’s bitten and cue my tears, but he acts like nothings wrong soooo. Anyways we depart from all of them to go hang out with Akiyama in the batting center. We hear Goda is around town as well.
A Majima and Akiyama team up is exactly what I didn’t know I needed. These two are probably my favorite Yakuza boys so it was really cathartic having them shoot a giant ass spider together. Speaking of the Spider boss was very cool and well designed, I think once again the battle went on a little too long but I liked this fight more then the Licker fight. Goda shows up and we all giggle and gaff together for a bit. Akiyama is the funny awkward third wheel here who just wants to be included and I love it and I love all of them.
The Majima section felt too short, but maybe thats because I was having way too much fun.
Goda:
We see Goda get bitten the arm around here and it’s pretty cool cuz its a ROBOT ARM yeah Goda for some reason has a big ole metal arm like Long John Silver from Treasure Planet, it’s even MORE similar because it can also turn into a gun. We find out that after Kiryu defeated Goda but in this case he survived and lost his arm. Why? We never find out. But the reason why Nikaido is so pissed off is because his mentor lost so badly to Kiryu. Goda is invited to join with Majima and Akiyama, but instead of the game giving us what we want Goda says he “works alone.”
From here we get to the worst part of the game, basically the rest of Goda’s section (except for one part later). It’s just way long drawn out levels of shooting way too many zombies and not having enough bullets for your gun arm. After this you spend awhile…helping people? Out of all the characters, none of them really do fetch quests for people or NPC guarding, yet this is a lot of what Goda does. Which is weird considering he JUST said he works alone, then he immediately spends the next hour hanging out with people we dont know. They could have easily just cut that line and it wouldn’t have felt so weird but they didn’t.
You also have to do this dreadful forklifting mission. And when I say dreadful I mean it! It switches POV’s and the controls are not very responsive, and like everything else goes on way too long.
Skip ahead after alot of terrible long drawn out constant shooting (I know thats the whole game but it’s really at it’s worst here) we do a boss battle with Goda’s former sushi making sensei. We had seen this character in a flashback before and this was easily the most emotionally resonant part of the game! I nearly cried during it and it was a very beautiful scene for Goda. Now I’ll never look at an octopus the same. If you play the game for any reason, make this fight and this moment one of them.
I had hoped they’d end his section with that but instead we get the most annoying bossfight ever where I have to kill a big Ben Grimm AND two invisible lickers. It was the worst but it’s finally over.
I wish Goda’s section was better, I really love his character and was excited to get to play as him and experience him as an antihero figure. The issue is they made the section’s gameplay parts go way too long, I wish they added more cutscenes here or even just made the scenes we had longer. The ones we get last maybe three seconds at a time until the emotional part in Chapter 3. That being said I still cherish getting to play as him, I’ll always wish I got to see more of him after the second game.
Kiryu:
Lastly we’ve got Kiryu’s part, and I think it’s probably the weakest (plotwise, gameplay wise it’s second worse). It’s honestly quite thin plot wise (tho I suppose all of them are), He shows up to Kamurocho, punches zombies, gets a gun, teams up with lady soldier, kills Akiyama’s partner from earlier on (clap if you care), goes to Kamurocho Hills, poignant moment with Majima that makes me wanna cri, florist time, fight manbat, its over.
Main issues here are the same with Goda, add more cutscenes that are a bit longer then 3 seconds so we can have a bit less 30 minute straight shooting ranges. Yes Akiyama’s partner died but he was so underdeveloped it really didn’t matter, it could have been way more emotional had they developed him more but it simply wasn’t. Majima reveals he has been bitten and it is very sad for me cuz I love him and Kiryu :(. The florist stuff felt a little unnecessary but i’d say it always does past Y2. The manbat fight was a little boring, you get a sniper rifle but it wasnt all that fun to use. The monster design like usual is really quite cool tho! The lady soldier is kinda underdeveloped too but I like her banter with Akiyama and Kiryu enough that I’d say out of the newer characters she’s a better one.
Also at some point Majima decides he’s gonna go “sweat out” the infection in a sauna and I find that hilarious.
Finale
We’ve finally made it. Unlike with other Yakuza games that make the finale feel like a proper team up of everyone else, it’s really just Kiryu part 2. You only play as him the whole time and you barely see Majima or Akiyama for the duration of it. You do have Goda as a partner but that’s all. The finale basically consists of you storming the millennium tower and do about three boss battles within it. Your first of the three is with the patient 0 of dead souls.
You guys aren’t going to believe who this is, I literally couldn’t believe they did this to me not once but twice. You guys remember that guy in Yakuza 1 who VERY BRIEFLY fights you in the bar Ares? Then for some reason makes a comeback in Yakuza 2 that makes you go who the fuck is that? And finally a flashback showing you who someone is actually helpful for once because seriously who the fuck is this guy? And then you do a weirdly hard boss battle with him in the transformer room of the millennium tower and think “that was weird that of all the people they bring back it’s THAT guy.” Well guess what. They did it again. Patient 0 is none other then Hayashi, everyone’s favorite most ICONIC Yakuza villain. I cant even begin to express my feelings when this was revealed, I was simultaneously really mad that something so stupid was happening but also thought it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve settled on the later, that is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
Anyways the fight was kinda fun, he is dead now, boohoo. The person who’s behind it all is actually David Bowie, that ginger scientist that has been around the whole time. We go up to the near top and David Bowie injects Nikaido with the virus and he becomes probably the coolest boss. My friend noted that it’s reminiscent of the Witches of Eastwick from Bloodborne (apparently a bad boss fight but like cool conceptually?) It was a reasonable challenge and pretty cool. Unfortunately it doesnt end there, because they Oogie Boogie (Kingdom Hearts anyone?) the poor guy and he becomes a big monster you have to throw stuff at. It’s not very fun, its just really long and too easy. BUT THEN IT'S OVER. And we get one of my favorite endings to a Yakuza game ever.
David Bowie escapes by climbing on to a rope ladder attached to a helicopter and begins to make his escape, except! The rope ladder is actually EXTREMELY long! So long that I like to imagine the culprit sowing several rope ladders together for this plan to work. He is slowly lowered into the horde of zombies at the bottom and dies. But WHO is driving the helicopter? AKIYAMA EVERYONE! Akiyama is officially a murderer, he literally lowered David Bowie into a pit of zombies with a smile of impish glee! It was wonderful. And also Haruka is fine dont worry.
The game officially ends with the sauna Majima is in blowing up because it was too damn hot for too long in there. He’s fine however, and it is revealed he simply had allergies the whole and the zombie who bit him had dentures! All is well.
Final thoughts on the plot: Basically I really like this silly over the top zombie story. I think had there been longer or more cutscenes, and less long stretches of tedious gameplay, it couldve worked better. Typically im more preferential to a grounded survival “every bullet counts” type of zombie story, but this game shouldve leaned more into the opposite effect, go full goof and camp! Akiyama and Majima’s sections are the best obviously, but Goda’s had a few moments and Kiryu’s was probably the weakest but considering the finale is just his part expanded, he also has several good moments. I wish they would remaster this game for newer consoles, fix Nikaido’s terrible hair, and just iron out some performance issues. I wish they had brought more characters back for this silly zombie game. It’s quite literally the perfect excuse to bring back past characters (even if theyre dead!) which they did with Goda but I wish it was more from a zombie lens. As in he’s a sentient zombie unlike several other past yakuza villains who arent. Lord knows having literally anyone other then Hayashi would be cool to bring back. And while I am glad Majima wasn’t a zombie, I wish they committed to zombifying someone we care about. It doesnt have to be serious, maybe they get cured in the end or have a Shawn of the Dead esc ending for them. I dont even care who but only zombifying people we dont care much about felt a little lame. I’d have loved if the finale also focused on everyone else more, I wanna see Hana again! Overall It’s probably the objectively worst Yakuza game. However, I still love it and it’s mine. I’ll recommend it to everyone till the day I die (with plenty of warnings)
Gameplay:
Before I depart I want to discuss the gameplay, as each character has distinct weapons and what not. I also want to touch on the enemy types!
So Akiyama somehow has the most OP weapons, dual wielding pistols that you dont even have to try to aim for and have infinite bullets. Theyre maybe a little too easy but theyre SO fun so I wont complain.
Majima has a big shot gun, you have to try on slightly more then with Akiyama but its still plenty of fun!
Goda’s SHOULD be the most fun but they made the weirdest choice ever and gave him a pistol with unlimited bullets…but made his arm gun have limited ammo. And his pistol absolutely sucks so you better horde your arm gun ammo.
Kiryu oddly doesnt get a weapon till the end of his part, you get a sniper rifle and like a gun that blows things up idk what its called. Both are fun enough. But the issue with the rifle and also with ANY aiming in this game is the way they did it. They made it so that when you aim the zoom in will happen wherever the character is facing NOT where the camera is facing. Which I know makes sense logically and I get it but like its SO annoying and really hard to aim at things when you need to on the fly. This was probably my least favorite thing about the game and the bane of my existence.
Heat moves work weirdly here, I dont even know how to explain why. But all ill say is it usually was either given a time window of way too long or way too short. I hope if it’s ever ported (which it wont be but a girl can dream) they improve the heat move stuff.
Lastly the enemy types. I mostly wanted to talk about the unique enemies, they took a dead island approach and had fun gimmicky zombies like a screeching zombie that attracts zombies to appear (this is a good one) or monkey boy who I fucking hate that just jumps and dodges alot. They also have Ruvik from the Evil Within? Or I guess The Evil Within has an Aggro zombie from deadsouls as their main antagonist because the resemblance is uncanny and the Evil Within actually came out later! There are also Diptera’s which remind me of the police officer guy from Siren cuz theyre both weird fly zombie things.
All of those enemy types are pretty solid and offer a good challenge (except monkey boy who I just hate) but the larger enemies, the ones you think would be harder, are wayyyyy too easy. Take meatheads, the main big boy zombie you’ll be seeing. He dies with maybe 5 shots to the head, or, and i'm dead serious, ONE TAP FROM A MOTORCYCLE. It’s hilarious how quickly they crumble down but if a monkey boy comes around? Im actually dreading it.
Other big enemies include hermits, who are kinda fun. You gotta crack their shell or whatever. And Fattie’s who arent that big but kind of explode when they die. They might do a litttle bit of damage but I think it would be interesting if they took a rotfiend from the Witcher approach and made them actually give quite a bit of damage when they explode, encouraging more distant attacks.
All the other enemies are boss battles which I basically already touched on. I guess if I chose one my favorite boss is the octopus man (id like it more if it worked better but thats neither here nor there) or Nikaido part one. Best enemy type is meathead cuz its funny that they literally disappear if you tap them with a bike. Visually I like anything bug inspired. If there’s any other fans out there what were your favorite enemies or bosses?
That concludes my way too long dead souls review/summary! I really enjoyed the game and someday I plan to go back and do side stuff. I definitely loved Kiryu and Majima doing karaoke together :).
Overall it’s a mess but its my mess and such a fun idea! I wish theyd do this with other genre’s, Yakuza but make it…historical! Oh wait that’s already a thing and it’s called Isshin. I declare next we should do Yakuza: IN SPACE!

Had my most frustrating ride along today. First ride along in the ev. Was over 100 degrees today, I had no vents for ac on the passenger side, the only Ac I got today was whenever my trainee was making a delivery and I had 30 seconds to sit in the ac that only points at the driver seat.
The guy I was training barely spoke the entire ride along, whenever he did it was in the softest quietest voice possible I couldn't hear him over the ac blowing only on the driver side Didn't ask questions, said no when I offered to buy him food/drinks b/c he didn't bring his own.
His entire route was nothing but apartments, an easy route like 80 stops around 150ish packages. Took him an hour and a half to do the first tote. Just 17 stops.
I took over and let him sit in the passenger seat and I went and did 40 stops in an hour and a half. Gave him all the notes and tips I give everyone. Nothing seemed to matter. When I gave the route back to him he only had like 25/35 stops to do. That took him 3 hours.
I would grab the packages for him, get everything sorted so everything was ready and all he had to do was grab, scan and deliver but somehow that never connected with him
He would unsort and unorganize every single stop, then scan and then reorganize and then deliver one by one
Even if the apartments were right next to each other he would grab one stop. Walk to the third floor, walk back down to the van, grab the next package and walk right back up the 2nd floor
He missed every other turn he had despite having 3 maps right in front of him, any time he had to make a delivery he would do 2/3 loops around the block doing uturns "trying to find the address"
I looked at his mph and dude was legit driving at 2mph an hour at some points
And somehow still got a call from dispatch the first one I've ever had saying he got a fucking seat belt violation. Dude did not give a fuck. Would throw the van in drive while I was in the storage area, would come to a complete stop in the middle of a street and just think for 30 seconds...about what idfk
He still got done like 3/4 hours early and went to do a rescue 25 stops off the guy I did the ride along with yesterday. Somehow these 25 stops took my man another 3 hours.
Anything I said went right through his head and I'm honestly frustrated enough I think I'm done with ride alongs
Especially in the fucking rivian vans, the passenger side seat belt is placed in such a position the side of it was digging into my neck and sliding across it every single bump, my neck is scratched raw/red now
We were the very last people to clock out. Over 11 hours.

Background: I’ve run and played Mork Borg, Vast Grimm, and Pirate Borg, but hadn’t yet had a chance to play Cy_Borg. Recently I had some guys ask me if I’d be willing to run it for them and I said hell yes! I watched a few APs of Lucky Flight Takedown and decided to just run with that. I wanted to keep things fast and loose with a lot of “yes, and” to keep things moving and let them play around with the casino sandbox and their powers, and learn the rules (two of the four had played Mork Borg, two had never played it). My goal was to keep the session around 3.5 hours so I’d know if I could run this as a four-hour con event in the future. I made a bunch of pre-gens and screened out any that were obnoxiously good or hopelessly awful, and then picked two mid-level ones per class that I felt would cover a mix of equipment and powers that would give them options.
My four players picked:

LUCKY FLIGHT TAKEDOWN – Recap [CONTAINS SPOILERS]

I considered skipping the “you meet in a tavern and get a quest” bit but ultimately kept it in as it’s a chance to do a little lore dump about the world/setting of the game, and having them roll into the bar individually means each of them can do a little intro of their character (name, appearance, notable stats/powers/equipment and such).

Task in hand, the PCs set out to case the casino. One thing I noted in all three APs I watched was that every time the players said, “We’re going to case the place while it is open, regroup, and come up with our plan.” And without fail, something happened and they started the heist right away.

In our case here, the PCs split up, with three going into the casino and one circling the outside to note the possible entrances and exits. Note that for the purposes of PC communication I assumed they all had some way of talking to each other. Two of the PCs stayed on the bottom floor while one made his way upstairs to the VIP entry area. One note here is that I was rolling for room encounters and during the entire course of the adventure, I only rolled ONE result (on a 1-in-8) that triggered one. Regardless, the PC outside met up inside and we now had essentially two groups of two. One of them – our Corp Killer and Burned Hacker – were proceeding carefully and taking notes. The Hacker successfully and stealthily hacked into a machine and got access to a more detailed map of the interior, while the Corp Killer tracked the movement of bouncers/security.

While this was happening, The others were… less cautious. Lot of questions about the employee only office upstairs from the Nanomancer, who used a power to project himself in and see what was going on, only to be met with regular boring corporate drudgery – and the knowledge of the staff elevator.

Ultimately the Nanomancer hatched a plan to get one of the employees IDs and uniforms. I did some random rolls and said yes, you see an employee exit that area onto the floor and buy a snack from the vending machine, and then head to the restroom after. The Nanomancer and Cyberslasher followed him into the bathroom, cleared out the shady guys making deals in there, and then the Cyberslasher held the door, while the Hacker rolled well so I gave him security camera access on the first floor, and he set up a camera feed loop so that nothing seemed off with the bathroom. I started a 6-action clock of “security notices the same guy has gone into and out of the bathroom and something’s wrong” (clocks like this are one of my favorite mechanisms in Blades in the Dark, and one which I use often in other games to keep action moving.) The Nanomancer decided the right move was to sidle up next to the employee at the urinal and pee on him, at which point the poor guy went to the sink to try to wash up, proclaiming “God this is just making it look worse, what the hell!” At that point we had a melee strike attempt to knock the guy out that missed badly, moving us to initiative. Fortunately the PCs went first and the Cyberslasher with his literal Flail, rolled a hit and bashed the guys brains out by dealing max damage, knocking his head clean off.

A couple things happened from there. I started a clock of “someone comes into the bathroom”. First, they did get the keycard they wanted. Second, they had to dispose of the body with its now useless and bloody uniform. They elected to jam it into a stall and drop the head in the bowl, just as someone came in to use the bathroom with the shady bathroom dealmakers right behind them. That started another clock of “someone discovers a headless body in the bathroom”. The PCs got together and hatched a new plan: the Burned Hacker would use the employee ID card to enter the exterior employee only entrance, grab a uniform, and head upstairs to get to work. From there he’d hack the system further and try to locate the offline database. He’d also change the photo in the employee database of the employee whose card they had to match his photo, so a cursory review wouldn’t find anything wrong if anyone stopped him – he’s just a new hire.

In the interim, our clock expires – a poor white-faced guest staggers drunkenly out of the bathroom, shouting, “Hey man, someone like, shit out their own head in there!” This starts a new clock, a cleaning crew carts the body out and down to the basement, which is fine, but at the clock expiration, I’d roll to see if anyone noticed that this wasn’t a random casino guest but actually an employee. (This clock expired and I rolled that someone did care, and started a new clock of “Vaska is notified and contacts Wattana”, but the rest of the action happened fast enough that it didn’t matter, and as you’ll see, the PCs never went into the basement.)

The other 3 PCs took up strategic positions in case of emergency while this plan unfolded. The Hacker uniformed up and took the elevator into the 2^nd floor staff room, picked a cubicle and got to work. His objective was to find an employee that was disengaged and had a “I don’t care about this” attitude, but he failed badly and landed next to Anderson, a super chipper and very pro-company team member who was very eager to learn all about this new face. Our Hacker failed a check to see if he could deck in without being observed, and burned a glitch and nailed his reroll. From there I gave them a more detailed map of the second floor and some info on the basement, as well as access to security cameras on the second floor. (Keep in mind this entire time with every room, I’m rolling a D8 with a 1 meaning a random event, and totally whiffing.)

These developments led to some significant scheming and plotting. With the 2^nd floor blueprint and access to the security camera feeds, the PCs knew there were some rooms worth exploring and where the vault was, but no real evidence that their target was in the Vault – though, that is perhaps a reasonable assumption, and if the vault had anything of value it might supersede the whole “decommissioned squad car” reward anyway. A new plan was hatched: the PCs outside of the Hacker would head outside and around back, and be let into the employee entrance on the first floor. They’d grab uniforms and head upstairs to the second floor elevator. As soon as they came up, the Hacker would use a nano power to make all the electronic games start paying out jackpots while taking the cameras on the first and second floor offline, and make it look like the hacking was being done by his cubicle neighbor. The group would head through the tech room into the vault and use another nano power to break it open, stealing whatever was inside, and then make for the exits with hopefully either the database or whatever else was in there.

Not all the rolls went their way from here, but collectively they had enough glitches to make everything go according to plan… except I FINALLY hit a random encounter roll, so when they walked into the tech room as pandemonium broke out downstairs with all the games paying out jackpots all at once, two techs were in the room in a fistfight over whose fault it was that things were going haywire. The PCs solved this by blaming poor Anderson and rolling well to convince them, and off they went to report Anderson to security. The PC’s got into the vault and looted it, realizing they’d found the database, and didn’t have a good way to sneak him out. They probably could have figured out something if they wanted, but they elected for the more action-packed exit strategy of “run for it and gun down anyone in our way!”

Sprinting back to the employee room to get to the elevator, our Corp Killer tossed a few Flashbangs out and got a nat 20, blinding the ever-living hell out of everyone outside the hallway and in the VIP area by the stairs, including four SecOps guys who were beating poor Anderson within an inch of his life for his “hacking”, and ran down the steps, where they were stopped by two bouncers and one SecOp who clocked what was happening amongst the chaos. Unfortunately for these guys, the PCs caused a CyRage in the SecOp guy who went berserk and started gunning down random passersby, while they made fairly quick work of the two bouncers. From there it was into the first floor employee area where another Flashbang made it hard for the four guards in there to fight back, as they were gunned down and struck by a flail and generally cut to ribbons, although one did connect with the poor Nanomancer who was dropped to 1HP. From there out the side door and into a waiting Uber-XL, our PCs disappeared into the night, the sound of jackpots and a raging SMG-toting guard fading into the background.

The PCs were pretty pleased with the chips they looted from the Vault, which took away some of the sting of their meetup with Charlie not happening, and obviously they also didn’t rescue Batu or really attempt to do so. Just as they were about to leave the meetup with Charlie empty-handed, some community members rolled up in the decommissioned patrol car with information: Charlie was made by the Corp that backs the Casino, and was about to be put on a high-security train to Borghold. They promised a small reward for his rescue, but more importantly, the torture AI’s in Borghold would surely crack Charlie’s mind and ID the PCs, so they needed to rescue him, or otherwise neutralize his ability to ID him.

With that, the credits rolled on LUCKY STRIKE TAKEDOWN, with a teaser leading into 3:10 to Borghold if the players want to continue on with these characters.

So, the trailer for Episode 11 dropped! I wasn't really expecting it to release so early, but anyways, let's analyize!
First thing in the trailer is a bunch of shots of Tipiskaw with characters talking in the background.
"I ain't no quitter!" - Miriam. She's probably saying this because something happened in the challenge that gives Miriam a huge disadvantage, but Miriam continues the challenge no matter what because she's a queen.
"Oh-I'm...about to....throw up!" - Gabby. Something probably causes Gabby to throw up, considering what we see later in the trailer, it's probably a part of the challenge.
"This could decide my streaming career!" - Ally (duh). She's probably talking to Tess about the haters.
"Nothing's in our way!" - Fiore. Probably talking to Alec, saying that they will win because they work well together.
"What happened here?" - Lake. Since she's paired up with Aiden, Jake probably like sabotages or taunts Aiden, causing Lake to ask this.
"Do I look like I give a shit?!" - Riya. Probably talking to Connor about how she either doesn't care that he doesn't like her, or Connor talks about how she has gone to the dark side, with Riya saying this.
"ARE YOU OKAY JAKE?!" - Ashley. Probably yelling this because Jake got hurt in some way. Since it's Jake, it could be anyone who hurt Jake, but I'm leaning on Yul considering the next line, and what is shown later in the trailer.
"LOSER!" - Yul. Probably taunting Jake since he hurt him or something.
"YOU BITCH!" - Ashley (i think?). Yelling at Yul for hurting Jake.
Next scene shows Trevor and Derek. Considering how happy Trevor is, and the fact that Derek is seen doing a little dance pose at the start of the scene, it's either two things. 1. They are going on a date because Trevor asked Derek out and he said yes. 2. They're having a little hang-out and Trevor is excited to hang with Derek.

Next scene shows the eliminated campers and the ones currently in the game being excited and junk while Kristal explains the challenge.


For the challenge itself, I think it's this:
With the eliminated camper, you run to a motorcycle and drive it up to a cliff. You then bungee jump to something. That's all the info I got from the trailer, but there's probably more to it. Anyways, as shown the contestants each get to choose an eliminated contestant to help.

I think these teams were chosen by Kristal, cause for example, I doubt Yul would want to work with James. I'm very interested in the Hunter + Grett duo, since these two haven't interacted, like, at all. So it'll be fun to see what they do (please dont make another girl fall for hunter please no)
For the rest of the trailer, it's mostly just people talking. We first get a scene of Alec and Fiore talking, with Fiore looking confused. She's probably asking Alec how she's going to win the challenge, since she's a fucking child. Next scene then shows Miriam comforting Tom, probably about the Jake situation. We then see Connor yell at Riya. This is probably because Riya suggested some sabotage to someone, and Connor refuses to let Riya do it. We then see Lake talking to Aiden about something, probably either about how Jake got James eliminated or about the Jake situation.
Next thing to note is that we see Fiore yelling at Connor about something. I think this takes place right before the argument between Connor and Riya, because they are in the same spot.

We then see Ellie and Gabby talking about something, with Gabby tearing up. Probably either about how lonely she has been or about how she doesn't want to be a villain.

Finally, last scenes in the trailer show the bungee jump part of the challenge I mentioned earlier.

So, final thing to talk about. Who Is Returning? Let's just cross off Miriam and Lake. I don't see them returning as they have really no plot left. Next we can cross off Ashley and Tess since they, like, just got eliminated. This leaves: Hunter, Connor, Fiore, and Ellie. After careful consideration, I have figured that the three most likely to come back are Connor, Hunter, and Ellie. Fiore probably WON'T come back sadly just because....well she kinda sucks ass at challenges lol. Ellie is likely because her VA wasn't asked to do the Patreon shoutouts, Hunter is likely because he seems to be getting a new possible interaction (NOT love interest god please no), and Connor is likely because he's a king.
So yeah, that's all I could gather from the trailers. All in all this episode seems very exciting and I can't wait for it next Thursday! Connor BETTER come back, but I wouldn't mind anyone else coming back either.

There are droves of Christian guys who are trying to find a wife, a lot of which are struggling with this in a major way. Though I haven't been posting here much of late, many of you have reached out to me directly asking for advise and it has been revealing. This post is the unfortunate product of many conversations with various guys who are shooting themselves in the foot by not taking care of the basics. While they may seem obvious to many of you, each of the issues below have come up numerous times as I've counseled guys. If you are a guy who finds himself struggling to attract a suitable woman, this post may be a critical aid in starting to get yourself sorted out.
Note: this post is focuses primarily on practicle, rather than theological, matters as I am increasingly seeing guys, who have good theology, in need of more practicle hand holding / butt kicking.

The Deck Is In Fact Stacked Against You

I won't sugar coat it, the dating market is not great these days for the vast majority of men (and women for that matter). The reasons for this have been hashed out elsewhere and it is sufficient for our purposes here to simply recognize that this current generation got dealt a terrible hand in this regard.
Congratulations, you may now give up, stop trying, and commit yourself to whatever wierd incel niche of the internet most appeals to you.
Or you can not be a bundle of sticks and make the best of the situation.
Seriously. Those are your options and you need to choose one, because whining about what is does nothing to steer you towards what could be. I am not kidding. You need to accept this as fact, stop whining about it, and move on or you will remain stuck exactly where you find yourself to be unhappy.

The People Who Want You To Be Unhappy Are The Elites

Hating women for what they are is misplaced anger. They contributed to this mess we are in, but you ascribe a much higher level of agency to women than is warranted if you think they are the root of the problem. Simply put, you aren't mysoginistic enough if you blame women for this because women couldn't create this rainbow dystopia of a clown world if they were handed the blueprint.
It is a topic for another post (one that would get me banned on Reddit) to dive into who is behind this, but suffice to say as Christians we were well warned about this group at length in the New Testament, and Christ himself was not too fond of them.
If you don't like what I just hinted at, please stop reading now and go back to reading whatever Daily Wire article you were jacking off to before you saw this post; it's better for my children and grandchildren if you didn't reproduce.
The point is, women got played by the elites and are also getting screwed in this modern hellscape of hook up culture. Women aren't your enemy. Many of them hate this too and they actually want you to win them over because they are also bored and lonely. Until this concept that registers with you this entire thing will be uphill for you.

Know Your Enemy

So who is the real enemy? The meta level answer are the oligarchal elites that want to prevent you from reproducting and will try to turn your kids into transformers if you do. The practical answer though is that you are your biggest enemy.
If you are fat, it's because you keep putting too much stupid food in your own stupid mouth. If you smell bad, it's because you aren't prioritizing basic hygeniene. If you are broke it's because you are either spending too much on crap you don't need, haven't developed a valuable skillset to get paid better, or both.
Some of you are going to be big mad because I am not blaming the market, the terrible "food" supply, or whatever else is external to you, for your plight. Remember, I recognized from the start that there really is a meta level exterior pissearth cabal against you, but they aren't just against you, but against society.
To unpack that a bit, we are in a time where the average man is a revolting specimen and that should give you a lot of hope. That's the white pill: your competition has never been more pathetic and easily beaten.

Let's Talk Triage, Because You're Killing Me

Given the hypergamous nature of women (though there are certain question marks there as well, but we'll assume it for this post) the top 20% of men stand the best chance of actually attracting a woman. Sounds bad right? Wrong. Go somewhere public and do some people watching. What you'll find is that in most places, the average man is fat (or scrawny), dresses like an idiot, is terrible with his money, and is a disheveled mess. Most of them just coast through life and aren't even really trying.
Learning game is great, but it only gets your so far. Assuming you manage to game your way into getting a girl's number and taking her out, eventually she will discover the real you and lose interest... unless the real you is actually solid and interesting, which can be developed.
Putting real effort into a solving a handful of things would put many of you into that 20% in most social settings. In fact, like the guy shoving a stick in his own bike spokes, many of you are doing (or not doing) some basic thibgs that are disproportionately keeping you down.
So where to start with this?
Many of your lives are the equivelant of mass combat casualties when it comes to the categories to improve on. In the emergency medical world, there is a practice known as triage where the injuries most likely to kill someone are treated first. Applying that same manner of thinking to attracting a spouse, there are some things that are going to cause you to "bleed out" "kill" you faster than others. I am addressing some of the common "wounds" I keep seeing because I am getting tired of constantly having to treat them.

Tier 1: Apperances

These are the things that you can start fixing right away and see immediate improvements. These are basic but can ruin your attractiveness right away and there are no good reasons why you can't fix these if they apply to you.
Hygiene
If you smell bad, look sloppy and unkempt, or otherwise are unhygenic, she won't give you the time of day. It pains me that I even have to write this, but gentlemen: shower yourselves daily. Wear deoderant / cologne (but not too much) and wash your clothes. Actually, burn your clothes and buy new ones that actually fit you and then keep those clean. If you aren't certain whether or not you smell bad, you smell bad. Men are amazing in their ability to walk around smelling like a shat in gym sock without knowing it. If you are fat, you are physiologically predisposed to smelling awful.

Protip: if you are unsure of how your breath smells, lick the back of your hand and wait a few seconds before giving it a smell. That will give you a very good idea of how others are smelling your breath. If it is anything south of neutral, start keeping gum or mints with you to be able to fix it on the fly.

This is your new rule: If you can't be certain that you smell good, assume you smell bad.
Clothes
Burn your graphic tees. All of them. It is hereby officially illegal for you to wear them until you become jacked ("skinny ripped" doesn't count unless you are the scrawny musician type while actually performing music.)

Make sure your belt and shoes match. This is entirely basic, but it is missed so often it bears repeating: black belt = black shoes, brown shoes = brown belt. Don't wear athletic wear unless you are actively doing athletic things. Don't mix formal/dress items with casual, etc. There is too much to address on this topic right here, but you need to get this figured out in a bad way. You don't have to dress well, but you cannot afford to dress badly.
Hair
Get your hair cut regularly. I don't care if it is "too expensive", until you develop a sense of style and a fit physique that allows you to break the rules, you have to keep it clean. If you truly cannot afford a regular haircut, get a trimmer and give yourself a buzzcut every other week. It will look better than an unkempt mop.
Long hair is illegal if you are fat, it makes you look like a buffoon. Seriously, I'm not kidding. If you are fat and have long hair it screams, "I have no self awareness" and that is not good. Who can/should have long hair? Tarzan. You know why? Tarzan is jacked to the gills. You are not Tarzan, you haven't earned your Samson locks.
Beards need to be kept clean and for most of you this will mean shorter than you want. There is a very fine line between looking masculine and "refined" and like a basement wizard. For the non-fats (see a theme?) as a general rule, if you have long hair keep a short beard, and if you have a long beard keep your hair short. The more jacked you are the looser you can be with this.

Protip: Dandruff is a deal breaker for many women. One of the easiest way to get rid of it is to keep your hair short and your scalp clean. There are droves of resources on how to not have dandruff, but you need to figure that crap out in a hurry if you've got it.

Body hair is fairly straightforward: don't be an outlier. There is a certain subset of women (some very attractive) who are into hairy dudes. The majority don't have a strong opinion one way or another unless the hair is on the extreme end. The idea here is to trim anything that is unusual to a normal range. If have a pelt of back hair, have a totally-platonic-definitely-not-closeted friend shave that for you. If you have bushes for your ears, nostrils, or eyebrows, trim it down. Shoulders too. Again, for most guys body hair should not be a noteworthy feature are all.
Teeth
Go to the dentist. Brush your teeth after every meal. Floss daily. Your teeth are a dead giveaway to your hygeine habits. Everything else can be on point, but if your smile looks like it came from a cartoon villan or a British person, you're screwed even if everything else is on point. Theoretically you're going to want to kiss a woman with that facehole of yours, and the cleaner, whiter, and straighter your teeth are the better chance you have at making your dreams come true.
Skin
Improving the quality of your skin is one of the surest ways to improve your overall appearance. If you stop eating heavily processed foods, cut out seed oils from your diet, clean yourself regularly, and get enough sunlight and sleep, it will likely do wonders to cleaning up your skin. All of these things overlap with improving your overall health too (hence why skin quality is such a strong indicator of reproductive fitness). There are endless YouTube videos amd several subreddits dedicated to this topic, so browse those and start making improvements ASAP.
Vehicle
Your vehicle says a lot about you and your priorities. Driving an expensive fancy car is not required, but keeping whatever vehicle you do drive clean and well maintained needs to be a high priority.
When you roll up to a date in a car with dents, parts strapped or taped together, or otherwise in less-than-great visible condition, or if your car is a filthy mess on the inside, you are sending a strong signal that you do not take care of what belongs to you. Why would a girl want to belong to a guy who doesn't prioritize taking care of his vehicle? Why would her father want to give his daughter to such a guy?
If you think this is shallow or materialistic you're missing it. Woman, throughout history, have depended on men to provide and take care of them and their kids. Yes, the modern "yasss queen" girlboss woman doesn't consciously look at things this way, but you don't want one of them to be the mother of your children anyway. If you are sensible and want a woman who will stay home and raise your children right, such a woman needs to know that they will be provided for during that time.
Driving a car that looks like a beater, no matter how functional, signals that either 1) you don't have the means to take care of it or 2) you don't care to take care of it. Neither of these things bode well for a woman who will likely end up staying home with the kids and whose means will be limited to your ability to provide.
On cleanliness, make a point to clean your car weekly, both inside and out. If you live in an apartment or otherwise don't have the ability to wash your car on your own, get a car wash membership and use it frequently. During these weekly cleanings you should vacuum it out and should be throwing away any trash left laying around. Also, your car is not a storage unit. It blows my mind how many guys store all kinds of stuff in their cars. Stop it. It makes you look like a homeless guy or that you are living out of your car. If you want to store a few practicle things (tools, a change of clothes, overnight toiletries just in case, emergency supplies, etc.) fine, but put that stuff in on or two clean designated bags/totes and keep it someplace out of sight.
If your car has dents, get them fixed. If you have mismatched bumpers or pannels, taped together pieces, or a cracked windshield, come up with a plan to take care of those issues (or replace the car) as soon as you can.
Yes, these things cost far more than it seems like it should, but not fixing these things will cost you access to high quality women.

Tier 2: Behaviors

These are going to take a bit more time to straighten out, but they are well worth the effort to improve on as even if you have all the tier 1 items under control, these can vastly limit or improve your attractiveness
Posture
This is the #1 thing I see guys get wrong in this category: they don't just have poor posture, but worse they are totally unaware of it. Body language is critical to attractiveness and the way your carry yourself, your posture, is the biggest part of it.
It hits close to home for me because when I was a young teenager my posture was terrible until I made an intentional effort to fix it, and it was a major game changer and did not take all that long. I am certain that failing to improve this would have radically limited my success in life.
Ask a friend to film you in a normal setting, ideally at a time when you aren't aware that they are taking a video. Watch the video back to yourself and let the horror of your own awkwardness scorch a permanent scar in your subsconscious so that you never slouch or walk around with your neck forward ever again.
Not only will better posture improve your ability to attract women, but every human interaction in your life will improve, including at the workplace. Interviewers, bosses, customers, and other stakeholders in your success make decisions based on their impression of you. If your posture is poor, you will get capped in your career early as you get passed over for opportunities that you were otherwise qualified for. Go look at nearly every CEO, president, or otherwise influential person and you will find that they carry themselves well. Having bad posture is a really stupid reason to have your earning potential limited, so just fix it.
Go on YouTube and look up videos on good posture, there are plenty. Treat this like one of your lifts and practice, it will take some time to beat the old habits out and replace them with good habits. Speaking of lifting, one of the best things you can do for your posture is train your entire back. Deadlifts, pull ups, rows, etc. will do wonders for making it easy and feel nature to keep an upright confident posture without effort.
Voice
Your voice is the clothing that your words wear, and many of you "dress" your words like homeless guys. Learning to control your voice will help you immensely in all vocal communication, and it really isn't hard to do.
As with the posture example above, recording yourself can yield immense insight into where you need to start working on your voice. If you play video games, you may already have recordings of yourself speaking in a non-performative way. Go listen to yourself speak when you aren't being self conscious of it. Here are some things to evaluate:
What is the pitch of your voice? Generally, lower vocal pitches are evaluated as more sexually attractive to women and more authorative among men. It is a matter of sexual dimorphism. If your voice is high, which it may be more than you realize, you can train yourself speak in a lower tone with vocal excercises and conscious practice. Even if your voice isn't particularly high and more "normal" you would likely benefit from practicing speaking in a lower voice naturally.
Do you control the cadence, or speed, or your speaking? Generally, speaking slower and more deliberately is seen as confident and masculine than speaking like a chipmunk on PCP. Don't go overboard here because talking quickly can convey excitement and drive.
Along with speed, is your volume deliberate or erradic? No one wants to be around the guy who is shouting all the time, but speaking loudly (likely louder than you're comfortable with at first) is an indicator of confidence.
Go listen to some speeches or recordings of some of histories great orators and you will notice that they are very deliberate about controlling both the speed and volume of their delivery. Comedians can make for great case studies as well.
How you speak is how you reveal yourself to the world. If you aren't confident in this area, you again will be greatly limited in many areas of life. It may very well be worthwhile for you to join a Toastmasters group or something like it where you can rapidly develop your voice.
Nervous ticks
Stop picking at yourself. Seriously, this not only grosses women out but makes you seem like a crackhead. If you are frequently itchy, you probably have some skin stuff you need to work on (see above). These sort of ticks are subconscious and we all do them to some extent or another, but if you do it excessively you will come off as manic or otherwise unwell. These can be tough habits to break, so it may be worthwhile to tell your close friends that you are trying to break them and ask them to point the behaviours out to you as you do them so you start breaking the patterns up and raise your own awareness. Again, YouTube university may be a great resource for you on this.

Tier 3: Ongoing Upgrades

These are things that just tend to take longer to develop, but make a world of difference once they have been improved. You can get started on these right away, but you should not focus on them until the first two tiers are resolved since they are likely deal breakers that will make these matters irrelevant anyways
Interests
A lot of you dudes are just plain boring guys living plain boring lives. Who would want to join you in that? Maybe a boring woman, but that doesn't sound very exciting, now does it? Seriously guys, spend some time trying and learning about new things. Start with aiming for breadth, and avoid things that have a stigma of being nerdy (you're probably already skewed towards those interests anyhow).
Aim for things that are exciting, creative, or signal high status. Trying out high octane pursuits, such as combat or adrenaline sports, will quickly provide you with interesting experiences to retell and will likely expose you to a lot of cool fascinating people. Picking up a new creative hobby (acting, dance, cooking, painting, pottery, jewelry making, etc.) will expose you to an entirely different subset of the population and having such a skiill, beyond being good for your soul as a being created to be a sub-creator, can be profitable or at least provide you with works of your own hand to show to others.
Classic "high status" pursuits (golfing, sailing, racing, travel, wine tasting, etc.) might be too expensive to begin with, but can help you expand your social network and expose you to wealthy successful people which may afford you new and exciting opportunities.
The point is, if you ever find yourself struggling with what to talk about while on a date or meeting someone new, you likely need to expand your activities and start intentionally exposing yourself to new things.
Fitness
I've written posts on this before, as have others, but it bears repeating: nothing will catapult you into the top percentile of men faster than having large muscles and a lean body. Full stop. The more jacked you are, the more you can get away with deficits in the other areas discussed above. Building such a body takes time, so you need to get started on it right away. That being said, there are some things you can do right away that will help you immensely in this area.
Foremost, if you are fat you need to focus on not being fat like your mother's life depended on it. It is far better to be lean and scrawny than it is to be fat when it comes to being attractive to women. Most of you guys can stand to lose between 20 and 100 pounds and need to focus on this more than worrying about building muscle.
Fasting is your friend here. Rather than screwing around with your diet and trying to cut out/add various food things, just stop eating so damned much. Barring significant medical conditions, the majority of people are going to be fine skipping meals and not eating, even for several days at a time. Rapid fat loss can come with its own set of problems (loose skin, for example) but that can be dealt with over time.
If I woke up and found myself suddenly 50 pounds overweight, I would immediately go on a 72 hour fast and then start doing OMAD (one-meal-a-day), focusing on sasiating real foods such as meats, saturated fats, and complex carbs, adding in extended fasts on a weekly or monthly basis, until I dropped the weight. Not only would the weight drop off embarassingly quickly, I would save a lot of time and money by not eating. Once you get your weight in check, then you can focus on putting the right kind of weight and building muscle. Doing this isn't exactly easy, but it also isn't complicated.
For fat guys, every 10% of bodyfat they lose gives them access to a whole point higher of attractive women. So if you are at 35% bodyfat and find yourself attracting 5's, going to 15% bodyfat would likely make you attractive to 7's. Diminishing returns set in around that point, but you get the point: lose the gut.
Finances
This deserves a series of posts on its own, but if you aren't in a great financial spot you need to put together a plan to get there. For many of you this will mean re-skilling by improving your education or otherwise learning skills that are more valuable in the market. Resist taking on new work that pays better, but doesn't have the potential to eventually pay enough to raise a family on the wage.
If you are at a loss as to what you might want to do, I strongly recommend the trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) as the demand is high and many will pay you while you gain those skills and the upside earning potential can be suprisingly high.
Living situation
Lastly, the final major dealbreaker that can take some time to sort out is your living situation. Simply put, some living situations are sexier than others. Living at home with your parents might be your best play while you figure out the Tier 1-2 issues and start working on the Tier 3 issues. While it may be your best move for a season, it will make attracting a suitable woman exceptionally difficult.
If you are in that situation, that's fine, but you need a plan to get out of it. Here a general order of least sexy to sexiest living situations:

• Living with your parents
• Renting with roommates
• Renting by yourself
• Owning your own home and renting to roommates
• Owning your own home and living by yourself

You'll notice that each movement downwards is a big increase in personal independance and ability to bring a woman into that living arrangement as a wife. Ideally you want to be moving down that list with each move, or at the very least be developing the means to move down the list if you wanted to. For example, if you are a young guy who is hustling, has a great job, and are renting with roommates but could go buy a house if you wanted, but are renting to save more money for now, that's great and you won't really be penalized for it. If you are doing that because you can't afford to do otherwise, that is far less attractive to a woman.
In short, (and yes, there are other exceptions, but broadly speaking it holds true) you want to be hustling to imrove your living situation in such a way that if you met the right girl, she could easily see herself fitting into your living situation without major shuffling being needed.

Conclusion

If this post doesn't apply to you, congratulations on sticking it out. But, if you are a single guy looking to attract women, you seriously need to take a long hard look in the mirror and make sure you are identifying and resolving these issues, starting with Tier 1 and working your way up, because all of them are entirely fixable but any of them can be your downfall. This post isn't exhaustive, but for many of you it is a necessary starting point.
