2024.06.02 08:09 rantingskull AITA for asking to have access to the app for the security system that my GF has on the house we both live in?

I live with my GF in her house that she owns. She bought a multiple camera security system to help keep her home and possessions secure. She also is having various trades people coming to fix things in the house and had previously caught one rummaging through her dirty laundry so she understandably wants to be able to keep an eye on them as well.
She got a good deal on a system that meets her needs, has good reviews online and is run from an app on her phone which is super convenient. The problem is that she wants to only have the app on her phone and not let me have access to it.
She is a private person and is extremely unnerved by the idea that anyone would able spy on her in her own home. The only way she was able to finally convince herself to get a camera system was to only allow herself to have access.
She is also worried having the app on multiple devices will cause issues with the app. She had a different system previously and was convinced that part of the issues the previous system had was caused by the app running on multiple devices. (While this may sound like gas lighting, I know her and her technological aptitude enough to know this is a genuine concern she has).
To be honest, don't care about the cameras or about only her having access to them. I appreciate how big a step it was for her to put them in so I want her to feel comfortable and I don't care if she watches me (I don't expect this to a universal standpoint but I personally have no issues so long as she is the only one that can watch me).
I'd feel different if this was a land lord or some third party but with her we have a level of trust and understanding that I am perfectly comfortable with. She was also upfront with me and we had a robust conversation about whether I was comfortable about the cameras and about her being able to see what I’m doing when I'm home.
There are no cameras set up in the bedrooms or bathrooms.
While I realise it might seem hypocritical for her to want exclusive access to the cameras, I also recognise I am a 6’3” 280lbs male and the worst she will catch me doing on the cameras is possibly scratching my butt crack. She meanwhile is a 5’4” female who already had her privacy violated in the past by various disgusting people for various disgusting reasons. This is a double standard but is one that feels to me as understandable even if I get others may have issue with it.
The problem is that part of the security system is an alarm that is turned on and off via the app as well. There is no physical keypad or way to arm or deactivate the alarm without the app.
90% of the time this wouldn't be an issue since she works from home and usually when she is out we are out together and come back together. But this still creates a potential issue when she is out and I'm coming home before her meaning that I have no way to deactivate the alarm.
There is no way on the app for me to just have to access the alarm. Even giving me a guest/non admin login still gives me access to view the cameras, it just stops me messing with settings.
She has suggested I simply message her when I'm home and she will disarm the alarm remotely. This is a hard no in both an emotional and practical standpoint.
Emotionally, giving her 100% control over my ability to access my possessions and a place that I consider home feels wrong.
Practically, she consistently keeps her phone on silent and is notoriously bad at checking her messages or seeing she has missed calls, (sometimes it can take her hours to see the message or that I tried to call her). While I love that she isn't glued to her phone, I am not willing to stand outside the house waiting for her to see my message or get home and I am not willing to gamble on any promises of her changing her behaviour regarding checking messages.
We are looking into potential ways to integrate a keypad or for there to be some other way for me to arm/disarm the alarm without needing the app but I have made it clear that either I be given a way to arm/disarm the alarm that doesn't involve me needing her or the alarm stays permanently off with the only exception being when we both go out together and come home together.
If I was given the app, I would promise never to view cameras and only open it when I needed to arm/disarm the alarm. I do however respect that it means that she would be depending on my assurances which means she would have to give up a degree of control.
AITA?
If so, is there a better way to approach this so that she feels secure and the house is kept secure but my concern regarding access to the house is addressed?

🔗R-134a A/C Recharge Kit

https://preview.redd.it/y30goea3l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=130a83dbc1fbec4d71d7bcbc2dd038a3a0602e9e
As someone who frequently travels with their family, the Sub-Zero SZ345 1 Refrigerant Kit has been a game-changer. My children and I were constantly sweaty and uncomfortable, even with the air conditioning running full blast. I heard about the Sub-Zero kit from a friend who said it had helped cool down their vehicle.
I decided to give it a try and picked up a can at my local auto parts store. Using the kit was incredibly easy, thanks to the included recharge hose and gauge. The Cool Boost technology in the refrigerant helped my vehicle's air conditioning produce colder air in no time.
One of my favorite features of this kit is its ability to seal common leaks in rubber components and extend the life of the A/C system by eliminating acid and moisture buildup. I noticed that after using the Sub-Zero kit, my vehicle's AC stayed consistently cold, even during long drives in hot weather.
However, there was one downside to the product – the relatively short hose. It made it difficult to attach the kit to my vehicle's AC port in certain situations. Nonetheless, the Sub-Zero SZ345 1 Refrigerant Kit has greatly improved the comfort of my car, making it a must-have for any driver experiencing a lackluster AC system.

🔗Multifunctional A/C Diagnostic Manifold Gauge Set with 5ft Hoses

https://preview.redd.it/o5x4xwz3l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fff56d52939440a15d2e234a05ae9d4a5651064
I've recently started using a multifunctional AC gauge set - an automatic air conditioning diagnostic manifold gauge set - to keep track of my car's air conditioning system. The set is compatible with R 134A, R12, R22, and R502 refrigerants, perfect for checking, charging, evacuating, and recovering work.
One thing that really stood out for me was the extra large and color-coded dials. They made it super easy to read the pressure, even in bright daylight. The sight glass design allowed me to see the liquid refrigerant flowing, which helped me keep track of everything while I charged the system.
The set also came with four extra long, 5-foot high impact hoses, each with a precise valve core depressor and 45-degree bend for easy access. These hoses are rated at 600 psi max working pressure and 3000 psi burst pressure, so I feel confident using them with my car's air conditioning system.
However, there are a few things that could be improved upon. The upgraded gauge shell is a nice touch, but I found that some of the metal parts were slightly difficult to maneuver. Additionally, it would be nice if the gauge shell were a bit more robust, as it's not as durable as it could be.
Overall, I've found the multifunctional AC gauge set to be a useful tool for managing my car's air conditioning system. I appreciate the extra large and color-coded dials, as well as the sight glass design, and the hoses are a nice touch as well. However, I do think there could be a few improvements made in terms of the gauge shell's durability and the ease of use of some of the metal parts.
Anecdote:
One day, while driving to work, I noticed that my car's air conditioning system wasn't working as well as it used to. I decided to give the multifunctional AC gauge set a try, to see if it could help me pinpoint the problem.
I started by connecting the hoses to the appropriate points on the gauge set and on my car's air conditioning system. I then turned on the system and observed the pressure readings on the gauge set's dials.
To my surprise, I found that the pressure was much lower than it should have been, indicating a leak in the system. I used the gauge set to track down the leak and was able to repair it with a little bit of effort.
After the repair, I used the gauge set again to check that the system was working properly, and I was happy to see that the pressure readings were now within the normal range.
Since then, I've used the multifunctional AC gauge set on a number of occasions, and I've found it to be a valuable tool for managing my car's air conditioning system.

🔗18 oz EZ Chill Refrigerator Recharge Kit with Leak Sealer

https://preview.redd.it/7r8ccv55l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6b91c33c9938aeae7d337586e9bde51e2a011ac
As someone who frequently takes road trips, especially during hot summer days, I know the importance of having a well-functioning air conditioning system in my car. So, when I came across the EZ Chill 18 oz recharge kit, I decided to give it a try, and boy, am I glad I did!
The first thing that really struck me about this product was its convenience. It came with a self-dispensing can that had a built-in filling hose and a low-pressure in-line gauge, which made the whole process of recharging the AC a breeze. The fact that the gauge is reusable also means that I can easily monitor the pressure in my system in the future, without having to rely on any guesswork.
Before trying out EZ Chill, I had been dealing with a slightly underpowered AC system for quite some time, and honestly, it was starting to get on my nerves. But, as soon as I connected the hose to the low pressure port on my vehicle's AC system and started recharging, I could feel the difference almost instantly. The AC was much colder and more effective in cooling down the car, which made my road trips much more comfortable, especially during long drives.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows, as there were a couple of aspects of this product that could use some improvement. First of all, while the instructions provided on the can were relatively easy to follow, they could have been a bit more detailed and helpful for beginners. Additionally, I found the valve on the can to be a bit sticky, which made it difficult to control the flow of refrigerant.
Overall, I would highly recommend the EZ Chill 18 oz recharge kit to anyone who's looking for an easy and cost-effective solution to their underpowered AC problems. While there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the need for more detailed instructions and a sticky valve, the convenience and effectiveness of this product make it a solid choice for anyone looking to improve their driving experience during the hot summer months.

🔗Avalanche R134a Refrigerant Recharge Kit

https://preview.redd.it/co6ikdo5l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad8ef34b39ab7f68124b65c1ec0cc2fb085c619a
I recently purchased the AC Avalanche R134a refrigerant recharge kit, and I'm happy to report that it has significantly improved the performance of my vehicle's air conditioning system. The Smart Clip Technology was a real game-changer for me, as it made it incredibly easy to monitor the refrigerant charge and prevent any potential overcharging issues.
The digital pressure gauge included in the kit was another highlight, allowing me to recharge the system based on both temperature and pressure for a safe and accurate result. I appreciated its ease of use and readability, as it worked seamlessly with any R-134a refrigerant can.
Another feature that stood out was the Hybrid-Safe Formula, which allowed me to use this recharge kit with both my regular vehicle and my hybrid without any issues. The re-useable recharge hose with a self-sealing valve type was also a nice touch, ensuring that everything was securely connected throughout the recharging process.
Finally, the system-safe chemical additive mentioned in the product description has been incredibly effective at stopping leaks in o-rings and other rubber components, helping to prolong the life of my air conditioning system.
However, there were a few minor drawbacks that I encountered during my use of the kit. The hose provided with the kit was a bit short for my personal preference, making it somewhat challenging to work with in certain situations. Additionally, while the product description claims that the refrigerant formula can improve the a/c's cooling capabilities, I didn't notice a significant difference in that area.
All things considered, I would still highly recommend the AC Avalanche R134a refrigerant recharge kit to anyone looking to improve the performance of their vehicle's air conditioning system. Its ease of use, safety features, and effectiveness at preventing leaks make it a worthwhile investment for any car owner.

🔗A/C Pro R-134a Refrigerant, 12 oz

https://preview.redd.it/e0jj34d6l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7625e4fed65de600f51aa94fec1581c5207d30ea
I recently found myself in need of a car air conditioner recharge, so I decided to try out the Interdynamics 12 oz R-134a Refrigerant. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use and how effective it was in restoring cold air to my vehicle.
The self-sealing can was a major plus for me, as it meant I didn't need to worry about any extras or additives. The EPA compliance is also a great feature, ensuring that I'm using a product that's safe for both my car and the environment.
However, there were a few cons that I encountered while using this product. Firstly, the instructions on the can were not very clear, which could lead to some confusion for first-time users. Additionally, I found that I had to purchase a separate recharge hose, which added an extra cost to the overall process.
Overall, I would recommend the Interdynamics 12 oz R-134a Refrigerant to anyone in need of a car air conditioner recharge. The ease of use, safety features, and effectiveness make it a great choice for those looking to save some money on a professional recharge.

🔗Recharge Arctic Freeze R134a for Your A/C System

https://preview.redd.it/e9tfefy6l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6dc8345498d113b5e191d85c698a265dfeaacd9
As a car owner, I've experienced my fair share of air conditioning issues. That's why when I came across the Arctic Freeze Ultra Synthetic Recharging Kit with UV Dye & UV Light, I knew I had to give it a try. This all-in-one solution not only replaces lost refrigerant and oil in my car's A/C system, but also seals common leaks in rubber hose, gaskets, and o-rings, while the UV dye helps identify and prevent future leaks. One of the best features is how quickly it cools down the air - 50% faster than other similar products!
One aspect that really stands out is how easy it is to use. The reusable trigger dispenser comes with a gauge and temperature dial indicator, making it incredibly simple to monitor the pressure and temperature of your A/C system. Plus, the elimination of moisture and acid ensures that your system stays in tip-top shape.
However, one con is the price. The kit only comes in a two-container package, which may be more than what some users need, especially if they already have a pressure gauge. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of the product and its ability to quickly locate leaks make it worth the investment.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with the Arctic Freeze Recharge Kit. It has made a significant difference in the performance of my car's air conditioning. Highly recommended!

🔗R-134a Recover, Recycle, Recharge Machine for AC Systems

https://preview.redd.it/jhf66ik7l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04dda4cffcf3a32a01d4a2db7bda4a393b7f7a29
The Robinair 34288NI is an absolute game-changer for anyone who needs to maintain their vehicle's air conditioning system. This nifty tool efficiently recovers, recycles, and recharges R-134A mobile A/C systems in a matter of minutes. Not only does it boast excellent performance, but it's also incredibly easy to use.
One of the standout features of the 34288NI is its automatic oil drain, which not only drains the oil but also provides a visual representation of how much needs to be re-injected back into the system. Additionally, the automatic air purge feature eliminates damaging air without the need for continuous monitoring or manual valve opening.
Another highlight of this product is its impressive display, which includes a 4.3-inch color graphics screen and even supports multiple languages. The built-in programmable vacuum function is also incredibly useful, with a default setting of 15 minutes and the ability to be programmed up to 99 minutes, complete with a "remaining time" display.
While the Robinair 34288NI may not be the most compact or lightweight model on the market, its high-quality performance and user-friendly design more than make up for its size. Whether you're a professional mechanic or a DIY enthusiast, this recharge kit is definitely worth considering for your A/C maintenance needs.

🔗R-134a Charging Hose with Metal Fittings for RV or Car A/C Service

https://preview.redd.it/woa8ne78l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb2a19cc37fa153e465a1b7078d386e00775d5d3
I recently got my hands on the Interdynamics MB-134A Charging Kit with Metal Fittings, and I must say it has been a game-changer for my vehicle's air conditioning system. The all-metal construction and quick-connect coupler make it incredibly easy to use, even for someone like me who is not particularly mechanically inclined.
One of the standout features of this kit is definitely its durability. The high-quality materials used in its construction ensure that it will last through countless AC recharges. Plus, the sleek metal design adds a custom touch to your vehicle that you won't find in other charging kits.
However, there is one downside: the price. While I believe the quality and efficiency of this kit justify the cost, it's worth noting that you can find similar products online for a slightly lower price.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend the Interdynamics MB-134A Charging Kit with Metal Fittings to anyone looking to give their vehicle's A/C system a much-needed boost.

🔗#1 Top Off Kit for R1234YF Systems - 2 Cans of 8oz HFO-R1234YF & Can Tap with Gauge

Let me tell you about my experience with the ZeroR Top Off Kit for my car's AC system. I'm not a professional mechanic, but this kit made recharging my AC a breeze! It comes with two cans of R1234YF refrigerant, which is enough to fill most systems. The kit also includes an R1234YF HD Brass Can Tap with a gauge, so I could easily see when my AC was properly charged.
One of the things I appreciated about this kit was how easy it was to use. The cans were self-sealing, which means I could save any unused refrigerant for future use. Plus, the gauge on the hose made it super simple to see when I had the right amount of refrigerant in my system.
However, there were a few cons worth mentioning. First, the hose has a left-hand thread, which wasn't immediately obvious to me. It would be nice if the manual included a clearer explanation of how to connect the hose. Second, the refrigerant is flammable, so it's important to follow all safety instructions carefully.
Overall, I would highly recommend this Top Off Kit to anyone looking to recharge their AC system. The performance was excellent, and it made a complicated process much easier for a DIY enthusiast like me.

🔗R134A Refrigerant with Trigger Valve and Pressure Gauge

My air conditioner was on its last leg, making my summer commute miserable. I decided to give the Big Freeze R134A Refrigerant a try, and boy, am I glad I did! The instant relief from the sweltering heat was a godsend.
The easy-to-use trigger valve and pressure gauge made filling up the system a breeze, even for someone like me who's not exactly car-savvy. The 22 oz size was more than enough to get my car's AC back in tip-top shape for the scorching summer months.
The only downside I encountered was that the product labeling could be clearer. I found myself searching online for more detailed instructions. However, after a little research, I was able to get the job done with no issues.
All in all, the Big Freeze R134A Refrigerant has been a game-changer for my car's AC system. If you're tired of sweating it out in your vehicle, give it a shot - you won't regret it!

🔗12 oz R134a Air Conditioner Refrigerant by AC Avalanche

https://preview.redd.it/4czvb6j9l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7e6aae6d36f84805b096e5bd25b721afa483426
The AC Avalanche R134a Air Conditioner Refrigerant has been a game-changer for me. Its unique formula provides up to 30-degree colder air while stopping leaks and conditioning seals, making it the best choice for recharging my vehicle's air conditioning system. I've noticed that I don't need to run the engine at higher RPMs to get that refreshingly cold air, which is a big plus during scorching hot days.
One con that I have to point out is that it requires an EPA compliant adapter or charging hose, which isn't included in the package. I initially faced some issues using it with my old hose but eventually managed to get an adapter and everything worked smoothly after that.
The price of the AC Avalanche R134a Air Conditioner Refrigerant is on the higher end compared to other retailers, but considering its performance and efficiency, I believe it's worth the investment. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this product and will definitely recommend it to anyone looking to recharge their vehicle's air conditioning system.

🔗AC Pro A/C Recharge R-134a for Extreme Conditions (6/12oz)

https://preview.redd.it/h9po3cw9l34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9790aa1beb10411c5c030381d9e3b382287899b1
I recently used the Interdynamics ACP210-6 ACP Extreme Conditions R-134a Refrigerant Refill to recharge my car's air conditioner, and I must say, it was a game-changer. The 12-ounce can was easy to handle and came with a precision dispenser that allowed me to control the amount of refrigerant I added.
The first thing that caught my attention was the robust lubricant combination in this product, which is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and high usage. Living in a hot and humid climate, my car's air conditioner gets a lot of wear and tear, so this was a welcome feature.
Another great thing about the ACP Extreme Conditions Refrigerant Refill is the inclusion of 2x cooling boosters, which noticeably improved the cooling power of my car's air conditioner. The advanced AC leak sealer was also a huge plus, as it helped to revitalize rubber components like hoses, gaskets, and O-rings, extending the life of my AC system.
However, one downside of this product is the price. While it certainly delivers on performance, the cost may be a deterrent for some users. Additionally, the can's capacity is only enough for one recharge, so those with larger vehicles may need to purchase multiple cans.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Interdynamics ACP210-6 ACP Extreme Conditions R-134a Refrigerant Refill to anyone looking to improve the performance and extend the life of their car's air conditioner.

🔗Automotive AC Gauge Set

I recently purchased the VEVOR 4 Way AC Gauge to help me with routine maintenance of my car's air conditioning system. From the get-go, I was quite impressed by its portable design. It's compact enough that it doesn't take up too much space in my garage, yet robust enough to include everything I need for any job. Plus, the built-in ergonomic handle made it incredibly easy to transport from car to car.
As for performance, it surpassed my expectations. The high-precision gauges were incredibly accurate, especially when handling sensitive refrigerants like R134A and R410A. Each gauge had a sturdy construction, giving me confidence when using them on heavy-duty equipment.
One small issue I encountered was that the hoses were a bit longer than necessary, which made storage a bit cumbersome. However, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the manifold set's overall efficiency and ease of use.
Since its purchase, I've used this set on multiple vehicles and had no issues with compatibility or performance. In fact, it's made troubleshooting air conditioning issues so much simpler! I'm definitely planning to use this product in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable AC manifold gauge set.

While using this product, the most notable feature that stood out was its compatibility with numerous vehicles, owing to the multiple adapter sizes it comes with. 1. What is an AC Recharge Kit?

An AC Recharge Kit is a device designed to refill the refrigerant gas in a vehicle's air conditioning system, which may be lost over time due to leaks or normal usage. It helps restore cooling performance and improve overall comfort inside the vehicle.

2. Can I use an AC Recharge Kit on any vehicle?

https://preview.redd.it/6k8133del34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=568724202642a64c9fe13bbda1dd78389b305cb0
Yes, but it's crucial to choose the correct kit compatible with your vehicle's make and model. Always refer to your vehicle's manual or consult with a professional technician to ensure proper usage and compatibility.

3. How often should I recharge my vehicle's AC system?

Typically, you won't need to recharge your vehicle's AC system more than once every couple of years or so. However, this depends on factors such as driving habits, climate, and overall system maintenance. If your AC performance deteriorates, it might be time for a recharge.

https://preview.redd.it/8e4xlhrel34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8196c13fa2ad6d60d5b98ae8c81b6850a27207f

7. What should I do if I discover a leak in my vehicle's AC system?

If you suspect a leak in your vehicle's AC system, it's best to stop using the air conditioning and schedule an appointment with a qualified technician to inspect and repair the issue. I recently gave the Aero AR15 Atlas S-One a spin, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. The slim profile of this handguard makes it a great choice for those who prioritize size and weight. It packs a punch when it comes to strength and stability thanks to Aero's durable Atlas attachment system.
And let me tell you, the Aero Taper Lock Attachment System (ATLAS) is both functional and visually stunning. The mirrored tapered locking nuts evenly distribute the clamping pressure, and the ratcheting detent makes the design secure while providing a positive registration during installation. Oh, and those hardware mounting parts? .
They're included, which makes life all the more convenient. Overall, it's a winner in the looks department and certainly does its job.

This handguard adds an extra layer of grip, making my firearm even more comfortable to handle in different environments. The black finish not only looks striking but also provides protection against wear and tear.
However, I did face some minor issues recently, like the occasional loosening of the attachments after continuous use. But overall, this product has proven to be quite reliable. Using it with my AR-15 felt smooth and seamless, with no discomfort or hindrance in my shooting experience. For someone who's looking for a tactical and handy attachment, this M-lok handguard is worth considering.

🔗Midwest Night Fighter 9.25" Handguard for AR Rifles

https://preview.redd.it/s3hgn3lwj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36448b1758e072476d25fc8ce7e8e7a7f3994c22
As a seasoned shooter, I can hardly imagine finding a better handguard for my AR rifle than the Midwest Night Fighter 9.25". This sturdy product not only adds a striking aesthetics but it also serves the essential purpose of keeping my AR rifle safe and secure, especially during nighttime operations.
I particularly appreciate its durability, attributed to its high-quality construction featuring M-lok technology. The design is thought well, ensuring a perfect fit and impeccable balance for my AR rifle. However, I must admit, it weighs a bit more than anticipated, which makes handling slightly challenging at times.
One negative experience I had was when I tried to assemble it all by myself and struggled a bit in the beginning. However, once I got the hang of it, it started to make sense.
Overall, while it may not be the lightest tool in the shed, the Midwest Night Fighter 9.25" provides a secure hold to my AR rifle. I would recommend it to someone with a knack for tactical rifle gear.

🔗Premium Carbine AR-15 MLOK Rail System with Anti-Rotation Technology

https://preview.redd.it/jsllru3xj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c54bb1f28466754d468d5d85016ad182b3792aff
As someone who's had the chance to use the Mission First Tactical Extreme Duty Carbine Rail System, I must say - it's a game-changer for AR-15 enthusiasts. This 7-sided M-LOK rail system is sleek and stylish, with an anti-rotation tech that makes it incredibly dependable.
The anti-reflective coating is a thoughtful feature, reducing glares and reflections that could be a nuisance in various lighting conditions. The steel non-timing barrel nut adds durability to the mix, and the ultra-streamlined appearance just seals the deal.
Of course, like any product out there, it's not perfect. The only downside I noticed was the need for some minor adjustments during assembly, which might be a bit of a hassle for first-time users. But overall, this MFT Extreme Duty Carbine Rail System is a reliable and stylish addition to any AR-15 setup.

🔗Strike MLOK Rail 13.5 FDE Handguard

Just recently, I had the chance to give the Strike MLOK Rail 13.5 FDE a try, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. This handguard, crafted by the skilled team at Strike Industries, is designed to stand the test of time, thanks to its top-notch components.
During my time with the rail, I found myself impressed by the sturdiness and precision it offered. The MLOK system was particularly noteworthy, providing a secure and streamlined connection to my firearm. On the downside, I did notice that, despite its durability, the rail could be heavier than some other options on the market.

As I delved into using the Q SERT Handguard The Fix 15", I was impressed by how seamlessly it compatible with the Fix system made by the same brand. The sleek black anodized finish perfectly matched my firearm's aesthetic, making it a stylish addition that blended in well.
However, I did encounter a few minor hiccups during the attachment process. It wasn't as straightforward as I had hoped, which resulted in some frustration at first. On the bright side, the sturdy construction of the handguard provided a strong grip, offering a great improvement to my firearm's stability.
In conclusion, the Q SERT Handguard The Fix 15" proved to be an adequate solution for someone looking to upgrade their grip while maintaining their firearm's elegant appearance. With time and patience, it could be a great addition to your arsenal, but don't expect it to be a walk in the park.

🔗Stylish Blackhawk Handguard for Motorcycle Protection

https://preview.redd.it/pik3ny6yj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48d388a0998929725ce11c93275a386629df056f
I recently tried the Touratech Defensa Silver Handguard Bars for my KTM/Husqvarna. This handguard gave me a sense of security on my rides, providing durable protection for both my levers and myself. The high-strength aircraft-grade aluminum exoskeleton structure was forged for maximum impact resistance, making it a reliable choice. Plus, the sleek, textured matte finish complemented the modern angular design, giving the bars a stylish touch.
On the other hand, I found that the plastic shields could be more securely attached. Sometimes they would slide out of place, which was inconvenient during my rides. However, the optional integrated plastic shield structure, known as Defensa Expedition, did provide added protection and comfort. This feature was definitely a highlight, as it shielded me from rain and cold air on cooler rides.
Overall, the Touratech Defensa Silver Handguard Bars provided me with a balance of protection and style, making them a solid choice for adventure motorcyclists.

🔗Samson SXT 9" M-LOK Precision Handguard

https://preview.redd.it/mbygiqnyj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a25c93e0233217ebe6fe300d1bf083a71a30e491
The Samson SXT 9" M-LOK handguard is a sleek and sturdy addition to any firearm. It seamlessly attaches to the gun's barrel, thanks to the M-LOK system, and gives the gun a modern touch. The black finish complements any gun it's mounted on, giving it a professional and tactical look.
One of the things that really stood out to me during my experience with this product was its ability to stay secure even when facing recoil. I've had other handguards slip or loosen during firing, but not this one. It just stays put, firmly attached to the gun.
On the downside, I did notice that it's not as lightweight as some other options out there. Its sturdiness comes at a cost, I guess you could say. But overall, I think it's a small price to pay for the added security and durability it provides.
In summary, if you're looking for a reliable and sturdy handguard that can withstand a good amount of wear and tear, the Samson SXT 9" M-LOK is definitely worth considering. It may not be the lightest option on the market, but its solid construction and M-LOK system make it a great choice for those who value security and stability.

🔗Durable Enduro Handguard Kit - Polisport Touquet (Green)

https://preview.redd.it/8lrxwn6zj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e0600e7354dd2fc402e7418b89efa55bef440e9
The Polisport Touquet Handguard Kit, a Green gem designed for motocross enthusiasts, has become a staple for those seeking tough and reliable protection. Handcrafted with their patented Bright Durable Polypropylene technology, this bad boy boasts impressive durability, color retention, and UV ray resistance. The bolt holes are perfectly pre-drilled for the ultimate fit. The plastic pieces feature a high gloss finish and an on-target color palette that truly captures the soul of the original part.
However, installation isn't quite a walk in the park. You'll need to get crafty with drilling accelerator tubes and ensuring a snug fit that won't interfere with your controls. Radial master cylinders and ASV clutches may struggle with the tight fit, raising concerns for potential pinching and seizing. In the end, though, this protective handguard excels in offering robust protection against those inevitable spills, even if it takes some elbow grease to make it work.

🔗UFO Handguard Black - High-Quality and Durable Off-Road Plastic Protector

https://preview.redd.it/cgaemxlzj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=106c5764fb5422927f3bd4b10320221251f00042
I recently had the chance to try out the UFO Handguard, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations. First of all, I was drawn to its original factory shape, which matched the look of the genuine model perfectly. It blends seamlessly with the rest of my gun setup.
The durability of this handguard was a pleasant surprise. I took it for a spin off-road, and it held up like a charm. UFO's use of high-quality plastics produced in Italy definitely paid off.
Another thing I appreciated was the wide range of colors available. While I opted for the classic black, I've seen photos of others in vibrant hues that really make their guns stand out.
The installation process was a breeze, too. The plastics are drilled ready for easy mounting, and the flex and lightweight design made it feel incredibly comfortable while in use. With the 100% Made in Italy guarantee since 1977, I had no doubts about the longevity and performance of this handguard.

🔗Universal Handguard for Motocross and ATV Protection

https://preview.redd.it/pe9gyy80k34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2aa81d3ac9ae6ed67b3df07d24ec212a79a8792a
I had the opportunity to try out these JFG Racing Motorcycle Universal Handguards a couple of weeks ago, and I must say, they've been a game-changer for me. Riding off-road ATVs always comes with its fair share of hazards, and these handguards have been a lifesaver in protecting my hands from brush, rocks, mud, and cold wind.
The combination of PP Plastic and Aluminum Alloy used in making these handguards brings a robustness that I've never come across in other handguards I've tried in the past. They offer a substantial shield, giving me the confidence I need when tackling the roughest terrains.
One of the best things about these handguards is the extra room they provide. It's been a blessing for me, allowing easy access to brake cables and other devices without having to worry about cramming them in.
However, despite all the positives, there is one drawback I've observed. They aren't as streamlined as I'd like them to be. While protection is vital, aerodynamics have their importance, and the added bulk to these handguards does make a difference, albeit slightly.
Overall, with their robust design, ample space for additional devices, and their effective protection against off-road elements, these JFG Racing Handguards make a compelling choice for any adrenaline junkie out there.

Overall, I've been quite pleased with my experience using this handguard. The combination of its durability, aesthetics, and flexibility has made it a reliable and essential piece of my gear.

🔗Midwest Night Fighter M-lok, Fits AR-15, Black Handguard

https://preview.redd.it/4ehmey9wj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=942653f3fb3f1995620b8ce8dac23768e2f753ce
The Midwest Industries Night Fighter handguard is a sleek and durable accessory for your firearm. I've been using it for a few months now, and it definitely fits the bill.

🔗Strike MLOK Rail 13.5 FDE Handguard

https://preview.redd.it/sdsgk0fxj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80402a01780bfc6b08baab6b83c6a16e80682529
Overall, the Strike MLOK Rail 13.5 FDE proved to be a reliable addition to my arsenal. Its robust construction and user-friendly design make it a solid choice for shooters of all skill levels.

🔗Blackhawk Handguard Fix 15" Anodized Finish

https://preview.redd.it/bt825k0yj34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24e652521dd6b08f540bb92db4938673fdbb1c99

A quick note though: the images provided are more of a suggestion rather than a perfect representation of the actual product. But overall, my experience with the UFO Handguard has been top-notch. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their gun setup.

🔗UTG Pro Model AR-15 Super Slim A2 Handguard - Lightweight & Slim Tubular Profile

https://preview.redd.it/lpxj40s0k34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ae35062133678445a2c80f1c1f1d46e2e88c4e1
The UTG Pro Model 4/15 Car Length Super Slim Drop-in Handguard is a must-have for your AR15, fitting seamlessly with standard delta ring assembly, barrel nut, and round handguard cap. Its lightweight, slim tubular profile offers improved handling and a top rail that extends to the upper receiver provides a continuous mounting platform.
The removable two 2-Slot and two 4-Slot rail sections allow for customization at various 3, 6, and 9 O'clock positions, while precision machining from aircraft aluminum and black anodizing ensures durability and a sleek finish. The simple installation process makes it easy to upgrade your AR15 without the need for gunsmithing.
The positive reviews from users highlight the product's value, ease of installation, and impressive features, making it an outstanding choice for anyone looking to enhance their AR15 experience.

🔗MFT EXT Duty Free Flt RL MLOK AR-15 A2 Handguard - 18 Inches

https://preview.redd.it/z7s9jv81k34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0dd31d1895ec42ca9127387ea47b4d73d774b822
The MFT EXT Duty Free Flt RL MLOK has been my trusty companion for the past six months as I've been enjoying my time at the range. The anti-rotating tabs have provided a secure and steady grip, ensuring that my rifle remains sturdy and aligned. Its sleek, black finish has never failed to impress and has added a touch of class to my setup.
One downside I've noticed is that it's somewhat heavier than the standard A2 handguard, but the modularity offered by the M-Lok system has been a lifesaver. The ability to switch out attachments has provided me with the freedom to customize my rifle to suit my preferences.
Overall, I've been quite pleased with my experience using this handguard. The combination of its durability, aesthetics, and flexibility has made it a reliable and essential piece of my gear.

🔗Mil-Spec A2 Handguard for Optimal Stability and Durability

https://preview.redd.it/vzhl29r1k34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21f733c05bdb6548b550d73fe7ecd5df8fbf80d0
I recently had the chance to try out the Midwest Industries G2 Drop-In Handguard, and I must say, it has become a solid addition to my daily carry kit. The Gen2 design with four anti-rotation QD sockets for push-button swivels is quite impressive and has made switching between accessories a breeze.
One of the most noteworthy features that I appreciated was the incredibly lightweight construction while maintaining a robust lock-up, thanks to its monolithic continuous top rail. It has allowed me to mount scopes effortlessly and has made the overall experience incredibly smooth.
The high-quality 1913 mil. spec rails, T-marked for location, are a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into this handguard. Constructed from 6061 aluminum with a hard coat anodized finish, it has held up exceptionally well and continues to look as good as new even after prolonged use.
Compatibility-wise, the G2 Drop-In Handguard has proven to be versatile, working seamlessly with most gas piston systems. The 100% Made in the USA aspect also adds a nice touch of authenticity to the product.
While there were no significant cons during my experience, I did find the installation process to be somewhat tricky, which might be a cause for concern for some users.
Overall, the Midwest Industries G2 Drop-In Handguard is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality, durable, and adaptable handguard for their firearms.

TL;DR: Just replaced cooktop. Had the natural gas version of it in our previous house. At this house we have a propane tank so did the LP conversion kit on the new one of the same model (changed the burner nozzles, turned the cap around in the regulator, and adjusted the adjustment screws in the gas valves on the burners in their stems per the instructions).
It's a Frigidaire.
Followed all the instructions for the LP conversion for making sure the fire doesn't get snuffed out turning the knob quickly from low to high and back again. A few of the burners needed adjustment.
The problem? I hardly have any adjustment of flame size between High/8 and 'Low'. That is: You can audibly hear the gas hissing less but the flame doesn't move at all from High all the way to about "2" on the 3 smaller burners (2 x 7.5K and a 5K). The bigger burners are better but still have the biggest swing in flame size between about 3-4 and Low. My wife's perception: It worked one way on natural gas and works another way on LP.
I checked the nozzles twice. Compared the printed instructions with online. Used the parts from the LP gas kit from the other stovetop (same mode, natgas in our old house).
Any ideas? I've swapped out the regulator from the old stovetop after comparing it to make sure it was the same " of WC as the new one to no luck. The only thing I can think of is that these are offered as conversions as a matter of convenience. But they are tested and certified on natural gas. Other than that, beyond reverting to the old cooktop I am at a loss. The only other thing on propane in this house is the hot water heater and it's a fixed pressure burner. I can't figure out if this is perception or there is a legitimate problem I should be calling up warranty for.

2024.06.02 07:34 EmbarrassedScreen242 Ski boat won't start.

If anyone can point me in the right direction.... Today I was on the lake for only a couple minutes, going about 25 knots and my boat('89 Ski Brendella with a newer 350 Windsor)stopped running suddenly. I assumed I ran out of fuel but thinking back it didn't sputter at all, just dead. Anyway, still thinking I'm out of gas, got a quick tow back to the beach and gassed her up. Then no start, no turning. My voltage was reading 12-13 and when I turn the ignition, the volt Guage would read low and no cranking. I have 2 batteries with a switch and the same reading on both as I switched and tried. So then I thought maybe I left something on (maybe a light?) and drained the battery, or both? I dunno. So I just charged both batteries and still nothing. I have electrical power but the starter doesn't turn. And that's where I just stopped - its dark now. In reading and trying to get ahead for tomorrow's troubleshoot, it seems like the starter or solenoid is bad, but could that cause the sudden stop, just kill the motor at speed? It doesn't seem logical to me but then again, I'm not much of a mechanic. I appreciate your help and if you wanna come ski or cruise, I will happily take you. Thank you

2024.06.02 07:33 Eclogites Catching a light speed signal?

So I just read a short story in which an AI has to evacuate the earth in an extremely short timeframe. It does so by broadcasting the minds of humanity out into space and hoping that it can construct a receiver at the other end at some point in the future. It ends with the question, how can one travel faster than light?
But thinking about it, it should be asking how can one catch a light speed signal? With currently known physics (i.e. no actual FTL) is this possible?
My first thought was that maybe aiming the signal at a nebula or some part of space with a significant amount of gas could slow it down, allowing for a spacecraft to catch it by taking a clearer path.
But this seems pretty difficult, and my second idea was to aim the signal to pass near a large mass, using gravitational lensing to make it's path bend. Then a spacecraft could potentially take a shorter path to catch up. So are either of these ideas plausible?

2024.06.02 07:24 dirtyslotmachine what if character scenes from shows align with viewers spoken words without hallucinations?

aligning character scenes from shows with viewers spoken words without hallucinations.
I guess the concept revolves around TV shows where the script remains unchanged, but it creates an alignment with the viewers thoughts and spoken words. As the viewer thinks or speaks, certain parts of the characters lines or actions on screen seem to coincidentally match up with what the viewer is saying or thinking, without any actual hallucinations. For example, the viewer thinks, "Is anyone here?" a character might nod their head, not because they're responding to the viewer, but due to an unrelated context, like nodding in agreement with another character or checking for traffic when crossing the street. The synchronization continues through the show, commercials, and into the next show. the alignment will happen with lines from the show. Example viewer says to themselves: I hope I didn’t leave the stove on
immediately on screen script: Ron: You know, it’s important to double check things before you leave
April: Yeah, but sometimes you just want to live dangerously like leaving the stove on and hoping for the best.
Andy: hey guys what’s cooking?
April: (smirking) hopefully not the kitchen. Ron’s giving us safety tips.
could also be more clever and not be related to the stove. Ron could have also said it’s important to double check things before you leave because April forgot to lock her door before she left. Parts of the characters sentence can have the same effect.
On screen Detective Smith: "was the suspect complicit?"
off screen viewer says: is anyone there?
show continues
Detective Jones: "Yeah, there's a lot of evidence pointing in that direction. The cctv footage from the gas station shows them at the scene just before the incident, and we found their fingerprints on the weapon. [Phone rings] Detective Smith (answering the phone): "Hello?"
Detective Smith (to Detective Jones): "It's the lab. They found a new lead." Detective Jones (nodding): "Yeah, let's go check it out."
Even if the person would record themselves talking about something unrelated, plays it back the same sort of thing should occur. really just looking for a purely hypothetical answer here, how would something like this work, would it even be possible with what we know today. I think there’s no real way to possibly know what someone is going to say or think before they say it. Are there clever ways around it or maybe a trick that makes it only seem like that?

2024.06.02 07:21 Significant-Notice- Santa Marta, Colombia notes

The Santa Marta region of northern Colombia has, within a ninety minute radius, the Caribbean, the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, desert with plentiful cactus, and rain forest. The diversity of birds is remarkable, which is what induced my sister to suggest this locale for our trip. We showed up wondering “how to find the birds,” but before that sentence was finished, some birds swooped down and stole part of our breakfast.
The “Tower” is a wonderful lookout point in Minca, a small town about thirty minutes away from Santa Marta. You stand in an elevated gazebo, surrounded by beautiful mountains, and watch various birds go by. The host family doesn’t even charge you for the drink of water. Until not too long ago, Minca was a “no go” zone, ruled by drug lords and guerrillas. Now there is a very peaceful revenue-generating compromise, with a lid on all the violence. British women visit and order avocado toast, before setting off on their birding tours.
My sister has seen dozens of “lifers” on this trip, namely birds she had not seen before. For me they are almost all lifers, except the pigeons.
You can take a several hour small boat trip to see a village on stilts, Pueblo Palafito. The locale supports 1000 or so people, all using water taxis to get around and mostly working as fishermen. It is not near anything else, and their power source is solar, due to a gift from the Italian government. This was the highlight of the trip. I am told families there typically average five children, and the schools were indeed full of enthusiastic young people. Best is this video, you don’t need to understand the Spanish.
In the city of Santa Marta there are two (!) separate monuments to the 1958 Smith-Corona typewriter, both at major intersections. They are intended as a tribute to the region’s best-known author Gabriel García Márquez.
The local economy is too dependent on coal export, but overall it feels bustling and reasonably prosperous.
The best food there is seafood, most of all fish and shrimp, in addition to coconut rice and various forms of plantains. You can eat very well here but I would not stray from the area’s basic strengths. Maracuya juice is consistently good. I don’t usually order desserts, but here they are consistently interesting and original, often using honey, or sometimes waffles.
I would strongly recommend the Marriott hotel there, the one on the beach. It is essentially an $800 a night quality place, with very direct beach access, but at far, far lower prices. And you end up with the ocean and also the three swimming pools pretty much to yourself. (Where is everyone?) For the entire trip, and for the hotel, safety levels are just fine.
This is what the Caribbean should be, but rarely is. Visiting Santa Marta, as a trip, is so far ahead of most better-known beach outings it isn’t funny. From Virginia I can fly to Colombia in about five hours, and then Santa Marta from Bogotá is a mere 90-minute extra flight.
It is a common trope that genetic influences on individual behavior strengthen as people age. If you take a trip with your sibling, you will see further evidence that this is true.
It is rare for me to get on a plane for reasons that have basically no work components. That said, it is also easy to get work done here.

2024.06.02 07:18 Resident-Daikon-2198 What a waste to go through college a virgin.

Just graduated college and sadly I didn’t achieve one of my goals I set years ago which was to lose my virginity (not a virgin by choice). Obviously sex is not the only reason for going to college but it’s one of those great indirect perks from the experience. Part of your youth is meant to experiment with different partners and nothing to show for it from college does not bode well for one’s future sex life. I sympathize with anyone in the same boat as you’re at an extreme disadvantage with today’s youth if you’re entering the workforce and “adulthood” still a virgin. Would give anything to go back and try things differently.

2024.06.02 07:12 MembershipVarious337 i’m having a hard time with doubt even though i feel i’ve made the right decision

this is going to be long. i don’t think i can capture the whole situation without some backstory. i’m doing my best to keep it brief.
let me start off by saying that my mom was a teen mom and i (23) am the oldest of her children. my biological father is not in the picture and he hasn’t been since i was very young. my mom always encouraged me to be comfortable in having no contact with him despite the fact that he was my father. if he treated me poorly, i shouldn’t have to put up with him. my mom married again, i got a younger sister out of that, and she divorced that man and is now with a man that is the father of none of her children. he has three kids of his own that he has always blatantly valued more than us. he always considered us ‘bad’ kids. especially my brother as he was the only boy in the house. this is no secret. its something we’ve brought to my mom’s attention ever since they met. something she even used to acknowledge. they’ve been together several years, probably since i was around 8 years old.
i’m from the south and they’re very classic conservative. as a kid i had a real problem with their homophobia before i even realized that i was queer. we used to get into horrible screaming matches over the things they said because at the time, they didn’t know they were saying these things about me. i think that’s the reason so much of the nasty things they said stuck with me for so many years.
fast forward to 2019. i moved with my boyfriend (who i feel it’s important to the story to mention is trans, but had not yet begun the process of transitioning when we first met so he was not out to my mother) she saw us as lesbians. i think this upset her because before i met my current boyfriend, i had been with a cis man.
in 2020, i lived with my boyfriend as well as his parents. they are much more open minded than my family. when covid came around my mom was quick to deny it. and that was not surprising to me in the slightest, it didn’t even really phase me. i didn’t act any different toward her, i just remember feeling lucky not to live there at the time because i was considered high risk. i also lived in an area of mainly people over 60. i do not want this to turn into a covid debate, but i feel that it’s crucial to what happened.
in november of 2020, i felt comfortable enough to visit her. we talked on the phone about it for months leading up to the visit and she made it very clear that she and the rest of my family that lived in her house had no problem wearing a mask for the few months leading up to my visit. this was really important to me as my step dad is a cop. he interacts very closely with people every day.
so when we visited, my mom had planned for all of us (myself, my boyfriend, my mom, my step dad, my younger sister, her friend, my older step sister, her husband, her toddler, and her newborn) to cram into a van together and go look at drive through christmas lights. we wouldn’t all fit legally in the same car and the lights were kind of a drive away, so my boyfriend had driven my mom’s car and my mom had driven the van. we stopped at a gas station close to our destination in order to pile into the van.
that’s when my step father and step sister went into the gas station without wearing masks. i felt lied to and disrespected by my mom so i admit that i was upset and probably wasn’t using the kindest tone, but this is not something i would ever cut contact over. i didn’t even want to argue about it.
i expressed that i was no longer comfortable cramming into a car with all of them after i’d discovered they had not been taking my concerns seriously. my boyfriend and i were going to drive my mother’s car back home and the rest of the group would continue on to see the lights. my mom was pissed off, but it wasn’t like her normal pissed off. i assumed it was because this was the first conflict we’d had since i moved out. still, i was sure she’d get over it.
the real problem started when my younger sister also expressed that she didn’t want to go. but her reason was vastly different from mine. she didn’t know that she would be forced to sit next to my older step sister’s husband (we’ll call him brad).
brad is not a nice person. he has a history of having sexually explicit conversations with minors. my entire family is aware of this, and he was still allowed to live in my mom’s house for almost a year. my younger sister once woke up from a nap on the couch to him standing over her. when he realized she was awake he just walked away without saying anything. he was eventually kicked out of my mom’s house because he masturbated in her dining room while my younger sister was in the kitchen. my older step sister caught him on camera doing this. they are still married now.
my younger sister expressed that she didn’t feel comfortable sitting so close to brad in the car. it caused a massive fight in the parking lot of this gas station. it ended with my step father trying to physically drag her out of the car. he was not successful, but my mom was so pissed off by this point that she decided to cancel the plans entirely and drive her car home with all of us in it. she drove like a maniac the entire hour home.
when we got back to her house, i immediately ran to gather my belongings. i intended to take my sister to our grandma’s house. i believed that what my step father had done to her was not acceptable. as i stomped into the room i was staying in i yelled to my mom that she was acting like a crazy fucking bitch. seems inconsequential but trust me it’s important.
i was in the bedroom gathering up my things when i heard my little sister saying “get off of me! get away!” i panicked and ran into the living room. i assumed she had been yelling at my step father so i was surprised when he caught me at the door and shoved me against the wall. their living room has a half wall, so i couldn’t see my sister. i panicked and struggled against my step father. i broke away from him once but he pushed me back again. he held me there until my boyfriend came out and physically put himself between us.
when i got away from him, i ran to my sister. her neck was red like someone had been grabbing it. i asked her what HE did to her. i still assumed it had been my step father. my sister just looked at me like she didn’t know what to say.
my mom was still standing there, just staring at us. i grabbed her shoulders and yelled that she was going to have to wake up and realize what was happening if she wanted to ever have a real relationship with any of us. she said “take your hands off of me.” and i did. i took my sister’s bag and grabbed her hand and walked toward the front door. my mom blocked us. she said she would call the police on me for kidnapping if i took my sister. my sister stood there and begged me not to leave her. how could i?
my mom had my sister’s phone and refused to give it back to her. we ended up just leaving it. i took my sister and we went to stay the night with my grandma. in the car, my sister told me it had been my mom who she was yelling at. my mom choked her into the couch because my sister had insisted that she was leaving.
the next day my sister’s biological father (who she lived with at the time) picked her up from our grandma’s and i went back home early with my boyfriend.
despite the fact that she let us stay with her, my grandma was not on our side. she was of the opinion that we should’ve just done as we were told and none of this would’ve happened.
my sister’s dad took her back to my mom’s house and made her apologize. she got her stuff back after that.
now four years have passed since then. my mom and i slowly started to communicate again but it has only been at a surface level ever since. i knew we couldn’t talk about such an intense topic without being in person. and it would feel wrong to bring it up on a visit. i moved back to my hometown last summer with the hope that i could really work out the issues between myself and my mom. my younger sister moved in with me when i moved back as she had graduated the same year.
we hadn’t really talked about what happened. i felt so bad for her having to continue to live in the environment that i didn’t want to ever bring it up. but now that we live on our own, it came up naturally. we both realized that we needed to talk to our mom about our problems in order to ever have a real connection.
so we did. we invited her over and did our best to talk things over. i knew my mom was not the best at taking criticism but i genuinely didn’t expect what played out.
i tried to bring up the things they said to me as a kid. things that made me feel wrong in my identity and made me feel like it would be easier for everyone if i just disappeared. she denies ever saying anything negative about gay people ever. she says that she has never ever said anything worse about gay people than that she doesn’t agree with them. that was definitely not all. just before i moved out i expressed to my step dad that he’d traumatized me with all of his anti-gay rhetoric. constantly calling me a faggot. dumb shit like that. his response was “obviously not enough.”
then i brought up how badly she hurt me that day. how i felt she’d chosen her husband over her children again. i couldn’t understand why she would think that choking my sister was okay. or her husband pinning me against the wall was okay. and then she told me it was because i was ‘charging into the room’ to beat her up.
i have never in all my years ever laid a finger on my mother. i adapted to that household by being agreeable and doing what i was told. the only time i ever stepped out of line was when it came to human rights. i was young and naive and i thought that if i could just say the right words i could make them understand. so those were the battles i chose in my childhood. i NEVER once threatened or even thought of hurting my mom.
she claims that when i heard my sister calling for help, i charged into the living room screaming at my mom. she claims THAT is when i called her a crazy fucking bitch.
i was quick to reassure her that i never ever wanted to hurt her. that it wasn’t even a thought in my head. that i hadn’t even known that SHE was the one doing anything to my sister. that i hadn’t even made it two feet into the living room before my step dad threw me back.
she doesn’t believe me.
she just says that it’s not about what she believes, it’s about what she witnessed. that she witnessed me planning to hurt her.
i know that i am not that kind of person. and i am not comfortable being around someone who would accuse me of such violence.
i explained my side of the story again and again and her only response was “no, no, no.”
my sister expressed that she felt it was wrong mom had choked her. my mom said that it was my sister’s fault because she wouldn’t “stop running her mouth” and refused to “sit her monkey ass down”
she ran out of the house shortly after this. we didn’t get to finish talking about much. i went into the bathroom to finish my panic attack alone and she called me. she said on the phone that if we were to talk, i would have to stop accusing her of things. to me, it seemed that she was accusing me of trying to hurt her. even in the face of being told it simply wasn’t true. i couldn’t articulate that point very well in the moment, though.
on this phone call she also said “you’re not going to tell me i have problems. you think YOU don’t have problems?” and i told her that i know i have problems that im just able to acknowledge that without lashing out. i told her that i hope one day she sees what i mean but i just can’t keep putting myself through this. i told her i loved her and then i hung up.
my mom also texted me that night in 2020 when everything happened. she said she felt wronged because i had called her such a horrible name. and i apologized then and there for calling her a crazy fucking bitch. her response was that she didn’t feel she had anything to apologize for herself. she has never said anything about feeling threatened by me until we confronted her a few days ago.
how can i deal with this when my entire family (aside from my younger sister) has normalized abuse? how can i move on without feeling like everything i did was wrong? im very firm in my story, i even have journal entries from the day it happened. therapy sessions. texts to my boyfriend’s dad from 30 minutes after everything happened. my story has never once changed and has never once hinged on what i THOUGHT might happen.
not only am i firm in my story but i am firm in my opinion that their actions are unjustified. especially toward my little sister. i just can’t shake the doubt. i don’t know if it’s the small part of me that still holds onto everything they instilled in me or what. i was just hoping for some advice i suppose. thank you for reading all of this.

i tried to bring up the things they said to me as a kid. things that made me feel wrong in my identity and made me feel like it would be easier for everyone if i just disappeared. she denies ever saying anything negative about gay people ever. she says that she has never ever said anything worse about gay people than that she doesn’t agree with them. that was definitely not all. just before i moved out i expressed to my step dad that he’d traumatized me with all of his anti-gay rhetoric. constantly calling me a faggot. dumb shit like that. his response was “obviously not enough.”
then i brought up how badly she hurt me that day. how i felt she’d chosen her husband over her children again. i couldn’t understand why she would think that choking my sister was okay. or her husband pinning me against the wall was okay. and then she told me it was because i was ‘charging into the room’ to beat her up.
i have never in all my years ever laid a finger on my mother. i adapted to that household by being agreeable and doing what i was told. the only time i ever stepped out of line was when it came to human rights. i was young and naive and i thought that if i could just say the right words i could make them understand. so those were the battles i chose in my childhood. i NEVER once threatened or even thought of hurting my mom.
she claims that when i heard my sister calling for help, i charged into the living room screaming at my mom. she claims THAT is when i called her a crazy fucking bitch.
i was quick to reassure her that i never ever wanted to hurt her. that it wasn’t even a thought in my head. that i hadn’t even known that SHE was the one doing anything to my sister. that i hadn’t even made it two feet into the living room before my step dad threw me back.
she doesn’t believe me.
she just says that it’s not about what she believes, it’s about what she witnessed. that she witnessed me planning to hurt her.
i know that i am not that kind of person. and i am not comfortable being around someone who would accuse me of such violence.
i explained my side of the story again and again and her only response was “no, no, no.”
my sister expressed that she felt it was wrong mom had choked her. my mom said that it was my sister’s fault because she wouldn’t “stop running her mouth” and refused to “sit her monkey ass down”
she ran out of the house shortly after this. we didn’t get to finish talking about much. i went into the bathroom to finish my panic attack alone and she called me. she said on the phone that if we were to talk, i would have to stop accusing her of things. to me, it seemed that she was accusing me of trying to hurt her. even in the face of being told it simply wasn’t true. i couldn’t articulate that point very well in the moment, though.
on this phone call she also said “you’re not going to tell me i have problems. you think YOU don’t have problems?” and i told her that i know i have problems that im just able to acknowledge that without lashing out. i told her that i hope one day she sees what i mean but i just can’t keep putting myself through this. i told her i loved her and then i hung up.
my mom also texted me that night in 2020 when everything happened. she said she felt wronged because i had called her such a horrible name. and i apologized then and there for calling her a crazy fucking bitch. her response was that she didn’t feel she had anything to apologize for herself. she has never said anything about feeling threatened by me until we confronted her a few days ago.
how can i deal with this when my entire family (aside from my younger sister) has normalized abuse? how can i move on without feeling like everything i did was wrong? im very firm in my story, i even have journal entries from the day it happened. therapy sessions. texts to my boyfriend’s dad from 30 minutes after everything happened. my story has never once changed and has never once hinged on what i THOUGHT might happen.
not only am i firm in my story but i am firm in my opinion that their actions are unjustified. especially toward my little sister. i just can’t shake the doubt. i don’t know if it’s the small part of me that still holds onto everything they instilled in me or what. i was just hoping for some advice i suppose. thank you for reading all of this.

Happy Sunday y'all. Cleaning out a few things.

Del-ton 16” Upper w/ Midwest Industries 12” Quad Rail - $275
https://imgur.com/a/6M8pUum
This was my first AR upper- I swapped out the FSB for a YHM gas block, and put a MI 12" Quad rail on it. Del-ton upper, CH, and BCG. Not sure barrel make. It’s pretty salty, lotsa larping, 3 gun runs, maybe 750-1000 rounds on this. A2 Birdcage is hand tightened right now, will need to retorqued/threadlocked. The rail covers are included- the long 4 are P&S, the short 4 are KAC, unless someone wants to part them out first. Also comes with the MI wrench tool for the barrel nut. In my infinite wisdom, I did file a couple of the pic rail segments flat so the rail covers would grip. You’ll see in the last pic.

Sig Romeo5 Red Dot with all mounts, missing covers $80
https://imgur.com/a/wJeWAe8
I'm dumb and somehow lost the covers for the elevation and windage knobs. You can 3d print these or get a set on amazon or try Sig customer service. Both mounts, bikini cover, 2 screws and hex tool. Good condition, only mounted, never fired.

Shellback Tactical Rampage 2.0 Black Plate Carrier w/Placard, Krydex QD Tubes & Condor Triple AR Mag Pouch - $100
https://imgur.com/a/yrFG9Dv
I unstitched the velcro flaps that hold the cummerbund on and restitched them closed, and added a set of Krydex quick release tubes. Some light wear, I’ve ran around in this, but otherwise solid.
Shellback Tactical Side Body Armor Plate MOLLE Pouches - $15

Idogear Dangler Pouch - $10
https://imgur.com/pSgaKZL
Bundle all the above nylon and I'll make you a bundle deal.

MagPul MBUS Gen 2 Set $45

I'm pretty sure these are Gen 2, school me if I'm wrong. Light salt, works great.

Amazon Special ChiCom Respirators - $15 each, $25 for both

Uses the common 3M filters you can get at hardware stores, used once each, still have the protective film on.

Empty Glock Case $20

From a G23 Gen4, but stickers are gone, egg carton foam interior still there.

2024.06.02 06:58 Noir888 Mafia suggestion

I hope the devs will see this one, IMO the mafia update is one of the best updates for the game but in its current state, its severely lacking.
Add illegal business
The crimes tab is bit of lacking as of now, and the way the "ranks" within a mafia family are partaking in those illicit activities are kinda awkward, Caporegimes stealing cars? the Godfather personally extorting a business? that's unrealistic, I suggest that "wet work" types of crimes should only be reserved for the associates and the soldiers, while the the Caporegimes can start or set up illegal business', like the following:
In setting those business' up, a legal front will be needed (lesser profit but reduces heat from the police/feds) or you can have the option to secretly operate those business' (bigger profit but attracts more attention from the police/feds).
Second, the Capos can set up the business' independently or the higher ups orders a certain business to be operated.
Third, a maximum of 5 business' should only be allowed for each Capo (if the player Capo has 5 gambling dens but the higher ups wants to set up a drug trafficking business, one of the gambling dens should be demolished.)
Fourth, the generating income for the player Capo from those business will be similar to how the family takes cuts from the crimes tabs
Fifth, a maximum of only 3 (+1 if you reach the Capo rank) capos for a mafia family and 5 (+1 if you reach the Capo rank) Capos for the Sicilian Mafia.
Sixth, each business will have varying "sizes", for example before you can set up the business you have to choose how big the operation would be, a small gambling den? a large drug trafficking ring? and each "sizes" will correspond to generated profit, a small gambling den will generate less profit compared to medium size one etc. and each "size" will also generate "heat" for your character Capo, the smaller the operation the lesser "heat" generated.
Lastly, like I said in the beginning, the associates & soldiers, each of them will be assigned in to a Capo, and the Capo can delegate "wet work" types of crimes for each of them.
Rank Options:
Associates
The typical stuff from the crime tabs:
Associates should never perform hits, this should be reserved for his/her "initiation"
They will also get random orders from a made guy (not necessarily from a Capo.)
Salary: similar to how the players take a cut from performing crimes
Soldiers
Aside from the typical stuff, the Soldiers should be able to have "perform a hit" crime in the crimes tab, it can only be done thrice a year and each hit will be difficult than the last, it has high chance of getting caught but if successful it will improve your standing within the mob by a large degree (the payout should also be good, no pay cuts you take the full amount of the money being rewarded)
Salary: similar to how the players take a cut from performing crimes and if successfully performed a hit, he/she will receive huge sums of money and his/her standing within the family will exponentially increase.
Caporegimes
Salary: takes a cut from the illegal business
They will also get a random orders from the Underboss or rarely from the godfathegodmother.
Underboss
In the mob, the Underboss is sometimes called the streetboss, because they oversee the entirety of the operations of the mob on a daily basis, he directly reports to the boss/godfather, so basing on that, the following options should be added into the game
Salary per year: 5 to 7 million
The GodfatheGodmother
Salary per year: 65% of annual earnings of the family (I.e the family earned 15 million during a year, 65% of the earnings will be your salary)
Day job
This option should be included, this will also be a good way to avoid police attention in-game or decrease your "heat", its awkward to see a unemployed schlep making millions of dollars every year and not get caught by the IRS or something lmao,
"Heat" system
For every crime you commit there a corresponding level of heat added to the character's overall "heat", the more serious the crime the more likely the police/feds will target you
Bodyguard system
As I observed in the game, you can easily whack anyone in your family, this should not be, by adding bodyguards, the chances of your success will decrease exponentially
The "put a contract" option should only be available for the the godfathegodmother
The only sure-fire way to "whack" a family member is using the "put a contract" tab, the bodyguard system will not be in effect, because as the Godfather, every family member would obey you no question.
Mafia Wars
During a mafia war, business will generate lesser profits (or will even close down), the heat from the police will be much higher & funds will quickly diminish.
There will be only two ways to win a mafia war depending on the justification you chose, these will be:
Eliminate Competition
Take over their Business
If you win the "eliminate competion" option, your family will receive 500 million cash, your illegal business' will triple their profits, consequences are the police will now target your family more (double the sting operations, more rats popping up etc), seeing that your organization is now the most powerful mafia family in the city.
If you win the "take over their business" option, your illegal business will triple their profits, the rival family will be weakened, the police will be more wary of your crime family there's a big chance of rats & stings operations.
If other Crime Families sided with you during the war & you won, you will have to compensate them for 40 million
Ways to lose a mafia war
Consequences for losing the war, you will be removed from being the boss or outright be killed by your rivals.
Some Factors in winning a Mafia War
Character interactions
Your family and friends should be wary of you being a mobster, for example, you mother or sister found out that your character is actually a mafia soldier, this will make them disown you, your relationships with them will instantly go to 0 & your happiness will also take a dive.
And the interactions within the mafia family should follow the hierarchy (For example, no associate should be able to directly access the GodfatheGodmother and ask him/her out to go and watch a concert of Lady Gaga lol)
Random Events
Random events should be according to your rank, for example, you're the current Mafia Godfather random events should be in line to your rank, a random guy suddenly insults you on the streets, there should be an option like putting a contract on his/her life or have your soldiers whack him/her or a celebrity starting a "beef" with you, you can either order your men to kill him or just order them beat him up.
Rival Gangs
If you choose to be in the Italian Mafia, your rivals should be the other gangs like Russian Mafia, Yakuza, Triad, Lating Mafia etc and If you're in Sicily, the rival family will be another Sicilian Mafia (i.e You're family is the Visconti Family your rivals will be another Sicilian family)
There should be also family rankings, for example, the Italian Mafia is the current most powerful crime syndicate in the city, followed by the Russian Mafia, followed by the Latin Mafia etc the rankings can change yearly depending on how much muscle (number of soldiers) & income of the families earn, you can also be the most powerful crime family for 10 years if you won a mafia war. If you choose to start a Mafia War the other families can join sides, for example the Italian Mafia waged a war against the Yakuza, the other families will join which side they want, or if you formed an alliance with another mafia family, they will side with you during the war no matter what.
So what do you guys think? You guys can add more of your ideas here.

I've been using the Nitecore NL1835LTHP Cold Weather 18650 Battery in my daily life for the past few months, and I must say, it's been a reliable power source for my devices in chilly conditions. What makes this battery stand out is its ability to triple the typical 18650 battery discharge efficiency at -40F, making it an ideal companion for all 18650 compatible devices in a cold climate.
One of the highlights that I appreciate is the built-in pressure relief valve, high-temperature resistant design, and built-in PTC to prevent surges. These safety features protect my devices from overcharging, over-discharging, and short-circuits. The battery is made from premium materials, such as nickel-plated stainless steel connectors, which provide impact resistance, good conductivity, and resistance against oxidation.
However, there are a few cautions to keep in mind. You should not expose the battery to water or fire, store it in a confined area with a high temperature above 50ºC, and ensure the positive and negative ends correspond with the positive (+) and negative (-) symbols when charging or using the battery.
Overall, the Nitecore NL1835LTHP Cold Weather 18650 Battery is a safe and reliable option for those living or working in cold climates. Its high discharge efficiency and premium materials make it a winning choice for low-temperature applications. Just remember to follow the safety instructions and keep your devices protected.

This Cameron Sino CS FLH650FT 5200mAh replacement battery has been a game changer in my daily life. Its capacity of 5200mAh and voltage of 7.4V are perfect for powering small electric devices like headlights and bicycle lights.
The battery's compact dimensions of 66.55 x 39.80 x 37.10mm make it easy to carry around with you wherever you go. It's also compatible with the original manufacturer equipment and can be charged more than 500 times, ensuring you have a reliable power source for your gadgets. However, the instructions that come with it could be clearer, and it might not be the best choice for high-drain devices.
Overall, it's a solid battery that's done an excellent job of keeping my electronics powered up on the go.

🔗High-Capacity Sanyo 18650 Lithium-Ion Battery for Electronic Devices

https://preview.redd.it/ikqrlk8i334d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e81d602f063fcb0fc3435ea0402ec1d8d87be9a6
I recently tried the Sanyo NCR 18650GA 3500mAh 10A Battery, and I must say, it was quite impressive. This battery is perfect for my portable charger, offering consistent power output and great discharge rates. I was particularly impressed with its reliable performance and how quickly it charges up.
One downside I noticed was that the charger that came with the battery takes a long time to fully charge it, which can be inconvenient. However, it's easy to find an external, faster charger to suit my needs. With proper use and care, this Sanyo battery is a reliable and versatile option for everyday use.

🔗Durable Rechargeable 18650 Batteries (3200mAh, 3.7V) - 2 Pack

https://preview.redd.it/n3d0swri334d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3db2ff183f9357dc81c7d8320aeaab5993c0f584
I've recently tried out these 18650 Lithium Ion Rechargeable Batteries with a capacity of 3200 mAh and 3.7 V 2 Pack. As someone who relies heavily on rechargeable items, these batteries have proven to be both reliable and long-lasting. They fit perfectly in devices that utilize 18650 batteries and they're great for having backup batteries on hand, so you don't have to worry about running out or constantly needing to replace them.
One of the standout features of these batteries is their overcharge and discharge protection, which ensures they're safe to use and won't cause any damage to your devices. However, they're not just built for durability – they also provide a decent power output, which is helpful when you need an extra boost from your devices.
While these batteries have served me well, they do come with their own set of challenges. For instance, they're not as widely available as other batteries, making them a little harder to find when you need them. This could be a potential drawback for those who rely on them frequently or for those who live in areas with limited access to this specific type of battery.
Overall, these 18650 Lithium Ion Rechargeable Batteries with a capacity of 3200 mAh and 3.7 V 2 Pack offer a reliable and long-lasting solution for those who need backups to avoid running out or replacing batteries constantly. They're easy to use and offer a decent power output, making them a solid choice for those who require such batteries in their daily lives.

🔗High Capacity 18650 Lithium-Ion Button Top Battery

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Sanyo NCR18650GA 3500mAh 10A button top battery in my daily life. This battery is perfect for high-drain devices like my flashlight, and it has been a game-changer for me.
One of the best features of this battery is its high capacity. It has an impressive 3500mAh rating, which means it can power my flashlight for a longer time before needing a recharge. This has come in handy during my late-night hikes or when I'm camping out in the wilderness.
However, as with any battery, there are some cons to consider. For instance, it's essential to be cautious while working with and using lithium-ion batteries, as they can be sensitive and potentially dangerous if not handled properly. I had to charge them in a fire-proof surface, and I made sure not to leave them charging unattended.
Another minor downside is that the battery doesn't have any markings to identify it as an original Sanyo product. While this doesn't affect its performance, it can be off-putting for some users who prefer authentic products.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Sanyo NCR18650GA 3500mAh 10A button top battery. It has been a reliable and efficient battery for my high-drain devices, and I appreciate the high capacity it offers.
