[Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)]

• Statistics for Data Science and Business Analysis- costs less than Php 1000, Udemy also has regular discounts pa. One can finish the course in a few weeks to a few months. What is important is that you, OO IKAW, don't need to rush finishing this as this is one of the fundamental skills. Now if you're very good in stat, no need for this. I finished this course in a month during covid
• Introduction to Computational Thinking and Data Science- I took this course in EDX, may assignments, lectures, and exams. I finished this in like 2 months during the height of covid. This is an official course and has a certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
• DeepLearning.AI TensorFlow Developer Professional Certificate - I completed this in around 2 months during the tail-end of COVID, but I was already using Tensorflow for more than a year. I haven't taken the official Google certification, but this was an amazing course. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Python is a must.
• TensorFlow: Advanced Techniques Specialization- took this course immediately after i finished the course above, it took me around 2 months to finish. Marami akong natutunan na bagong techniques and approaches using Tensorflow.
• Fine Tune BERT with Tensorflow- Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT), one of the most important libraries for Natural Language Processing, released in 2018 by Google. During that time, it was State of the Art (SOTA) and became the de facto standard library when working with NLP with a Deep Learning Library.
• ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers- You will learn how to use a large language model (LLM) to quickly build new and powerful applications

• STATQUEST- this guy explains very complex Statistics and Data science concepts and formulas in an excellent way complete with visuals, animations, and sample computations. Very valuable resource to help "bake-in" the knowledge and concepts

• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals- this is the entry cert for Azure Cloud, I started poking into Azure circa 2019, I took this cert during the height of COVID. Took me around 2 months to review, personally run and setup the GITHUB repos

• Kaggle.com - unarguably the largest data science community today, also leading the democratization of AI/ Machine Learning/ Deep Learning. Sign up for membership then study the notebooks (aka kernels), participate in the forums, upload and create datasets, as well as join competitions. They have a discord channel too which one can optionally join.
• Medium.com - good source of articles
• Stackoverflow.com - no need for an explanation
• Huggingface.co- Simple, safe way to store and distribute neural networks weights safely and quickly.

[Python, Libraries, and others]

• Python- one of the best language for datascience, has lots of libraries and ecosystem is very much alive.
• Adherence to PEP8 Standards- for writing beautiful Python code.
• Creating python environments with conda - for modularity and managing environments
• SQL- plain-ol' SQL, as long as you can write optimal SQL code, and you know how to join tables properly and know when to use LEFT vs INNER vs OUTER.
  • I personally used SQL on POSTGRESQL, SQL SERVER, SNOWFLAKE, and DATABRICKS with minimal changes in syntax. MUST-LEARN.
• Numpy - you have to get comfortable working with numbers
• Scikit-Learn - scikit-learn is a free software machine learning library for the Python programming language. It features various classification, regression and clustering algorithms
• Pandas - you need to become very competent when massaging and aggregating data

• Either library would be good, but based on what I'm reading nowadays, Pytorch seem to have the advantage. You wont get wrong with either as both Deep Learning Frameworks are very mature, well documented. I personally prefer Tensorflow, but if you can learn and be proficient with both, then much much better.

[Kaggle + Practice (KELANGAN MO ITO)]

• Kaggle Datasets - download datasets that pique your interests from Kaggle
• Kaggle Notebooks - best way to learn is to find a working example, with a corresponding dataset.

[Data Visualization]

• MATPLOTLIB- comprehensive library for creating static, animated, and interactive visualizations in Python (required)
• Seaborn- Python library for better visually pleasing charts and graphs (optional)

• Nagkaroon na ng mga Bachelor of Science In Data Science na medyo recent lang ata na naoffer sa mga universities, I dont have visibility sa curriculum nila.
• Two people with the same role "DATA SCIENTIST" can actually be doing different things.
• I believe there are two main flavors of data scientists, the "theory-inclined" na mga super henyo sa mga algorithms and jargon, and the "implementation-inclined" na just utilizes the libraries to do the calculations, I am more of the latter.
• Sometimes the problem is complex, sometimes it's not, you have to know which algorithm to choose. But before everything else, you have to know the problem at hand and kelangan mo maintindihan ang nuances and gain domain knowledge. Sometimes a very good solution is a very simple one.
• Don't fall for those MASTER-DATA SCIENCE in 3 months snake-oil stuff, The field is fast evolving and no, you can't MASTER this field in 3 months.
• I WONT SUGARCOAT but this is a very deep and technical field, if you do not have a knack for studying, burning the midnight oil, failing-miserably nang paulit-ulit, learning from your mistakes, and overcoming them, then go back. But if you love challenges and you have the grit, soldier on.
• Di mo maiiwasan na makipagusap with people from other countries and various levels (c-levels, managers, fellow developers, business people, etc), so polish your communication skills.
• You must be open-minded as there are countless ways to approach a problem, but you also have to know when to call someone's BS.

Trezor Secret Maker

This mk_secret.py utility is a simple python script to help users as Trezor Password Manager enters deprecation. This utility will take a ascii key and generate 128 bit to 256 bit password with it. This can be used as a very simple password manager until something more permanent comes around.

Single Password Storage

Here's a simple example for single passwords on the Windows console. Very similar to the linux pass utility.

This produces a 128bit password and drops it into the Windows clipboard. The KEY used is the string "reddit.com / brianddk" which will help the user remember that this password is for reddit, and the username on reddit this is for is u/brianddk. The process is deterministic, so anytime you enter the same key, you will get the same secret. Hopefully we all know that my reddit password isn't 828a...1f7a. I've been using hunter2 for years now.

Password Manager Launcher

Another use of this would be to allow you to launch your password manager from the console using a secret generated from your Trezor. Since we may not like storing passwords on the clipboard, some password managers allow you to use console redirection create and unlock the database. The following will create a new KeepassXC database with a generated password then launch the empty database for password entry. Obviously the db-create command only needs to be run once to set the initial password. The following assumes the Windows Console has KeepassXC installed and in the path:

Session Management

If you use a complex passphrase on your Trezor, you may wish to enable session management so you only need to enter the passphrase once, then use the session token thereafter. Of course, tokens expire when the device is unplugged. For example the following windows console commands would save off a session-id, then use it to place a password on the clipboard and launch the keepass database.

Under The Hood

The utility will try to avoid showing secrets on the console unless verbosity (-v) is requested. If EXTREME verbosity (-e) is requested you will see all the encodings I could think of. This includes making BIP39 seeds and passwords of various forms. Since some sites require symbols and numbers so encodings like base85 might be preferred. The utility defaults to hex encoding. The process of making a secret uses the Trezor encrypt_keyvalue command. This is the same API as is used by trezorctl crypto encrypt-keyvalue -n m/10016h/0 KEY VALUE. As you noticed, there is both a KEY and a VALUE mentioned in the arguments. For simplicity, I simply use a padded version of the KEY for the VALUE. The following two commands, one from trezorctl and the other with mk_secret.py will both produce the same secret.

NOTE: The extreme verbosity display will show a field called fp, this is the fingerprint of your current Trezor mnemonic+passphrase. So long as you have the same fingerprint, you are guaranteed that a given input will produce the same secret. Here's an example of the extreme verbosity display compared with the get-public-node. Note that the fp and node.fingerprint fields match.

Requirements

To run this utility you need to have python 3 installed as well as the trezorctl utility. The trezorctl install (pip install trezor) will install both the trezorctl utility as well as the trezorlib python libraries this utility relies on. Assuming python 3 is already installed, doing the rest could be as simple as the following commands. Do see the warnings below about running python from a stranger.

BUGS

When I originally created this I had hoped to use the bash process substitution feature to let trezor work as a keyfile. This would look something like:
keepassxc-cli db-create --set-key-file <(mk_secret.py -t -s %session% -k "Keepass Keyfile") example.kdbx
But unfortunately the filestream reader currently in use with keepassxc-cli doesn't support this type of FIFO reads. There is already an issue logged with KeepassXC. I had added the TRIM (-t) argument to the utility in anticipation of this. Rational was to remove OS dependencies on EOL processing by stripping EOL characters from the stream. I can verify that the trim feature works, but I can't verify it with KeepassXC till they fix KeepassXC.

WARNINGS

If you don't read python then DONT download or run any of this code. Python scripts can have fairly complete access to your filesystem. It can't read secrets from the Trezor, but file system access is still a lot. As a general rule of thumb, you should never trust internet strangers. I may work on getting something like this added to one of the official repositories in the future, but for the most part, that is something up to the maintainers and not entirely within my control. Hopefully this utility is simple enough to fully understand.

I've been moving everything to KeePass since TPM is end-of-life. The github thread about it seemed to indicate Trezor will be focusing on Trezor-R and Coinjoins for the near future so there are no plans to migrate TPM into Suite.
So it's trivial to integrate Trezor into KeePass, and will ask the KeePass team to consider it. In the meantime I'm writing a Trezor Keypass Launcher that uses the official Trezor Python API.
Would anyone be interested in random python code from an internet stranger talking to your Trezor to secure your KeePass data?

Trezor Secret Maker

This mk_secret.py utility is a simple python script to help users as Trezor Password Manager enters deprecation. This utility will take a ascii key and generate 128 bit to 256 bit password with it. This can be used as a very simple password manager until something more permanent comes around.

Single Password Storage

Here's a simple example for single passwords on the Windows console. Very similar to the linux pass utility.
python mk_secret.py -k "reddit.com / brianddk" clip
This produces a 128bit password and drops it into the Windows clipboard. The KEY used is the string "reddit.com / brianddk" which will help the user remember that this password is for reddit, and the username on reddit this is for is u/brianddk. The process is deterministic, so anytime you enter the same key, you will get the same secret. Hopefully we all know that my reddit password isn't 828a...1f7a. I've been using hunter2 for years now.

Password Manager Launcher

Another use of this would be to allow you to launch your password manager from the console using a secret generated from your Trezor. Since we may not like storing passwords on the clipboard, some password managers allow you to use console redirection create and unlock the database. The following will create a new KeepassXC database with a generated password then launch the empty database for password entry. Obviously the db-create command only needs to be run once to set the initial password. The following assumes the Windows Console has KeepassXC installed and in the path:

Session Management

If you use a complex passphrase on your Trezor, you may wish to enable session management so you only need to enter the passphrase once, then use the session token thereafter. Of course, tokens expire when the device is unplugged. For example the following windows console commands would save off a session-id, then use it to place a password on the clipboard and launch the keepass database.

Under The Hood

The utility will try to avoid showing secrets on the console unless verbosity (-v) is requested. If EXTREME verbosity (-e) is requested you will see all the encodings I could think of. This includes making BIP39 seeds and passwords of various forms. Since some sites require symbols and numbers so encodings like base85 might be preferred. The utility defaults to hex encoding. The process of making a secret uses the Trezor encrypt_keyvalue command. This is the same API as is used by trezorctl crypto encrypt-keyvalue -n m/10016h/0 KEY VALUE. As you noticed, there is both a KEY and a VALUE mentioned in the arguments. For simplicity, I simply use a padded version of the KEY for the VALUE. The following two commands, one from trezorctl and the other with mk_secret.py will both produce the same secret.

NOTE: The extreme verbosity display will show a field called fp, this is the fingerprint of your current Trezor mnemonic+passphrase. So long as you have the same fingerprint, you are guaranteed that a given input will produce the same secret. Here's an example of the extreme verbosity display compared with the get-public-node. Note that the fp and node.fingerprint fields match.

To run this utility you need to have python 3 installed as well as the trezorctl utility. The trezorctl install (pip install trezor) will install both the trezorctl utility as well as the trezorlib python libraries this utility relies on. Assuming python 3 is already installed, doing the rest could be as simple as the following commands. Do see the warnings below about running python from a stranger.

I have seen a few posts here about ChatGPT and such. Most people who know of it, know it has the ability to write code. Unfortunately AI in general still needs you to be quite specific, to provide examples, and to correct mistakes. It CAN do more complex things, if given direction in multiple steps. I have quite a bit of experience with AI at this point so I decided to give it a shot.
So what did I end up with? Well, after ONE real error, from the AI setting the ascii color of the bumblecat to yellow_black instead of an actual color which I just changed to yellow, and a warning for

baby_monster mon_bumblecat_kitten of monster mon_bumblecat is not a valid monster id 

So it literally referenced what its babies would be called, but I only asked for the regular monster json, honestly better that its included than not IMO.
And yeah, it just works. I cant figure out how to get it to attack me back or fight to see if its special attack is working or not, but it seems like its all there. Oh and it took me a minute to realize I needed a modinfo.json for the thing to actually show up. Which chatGPT made with the one from dinomod as an example.
I will say, this is probably one of the easier things to create for CDDA (at least from what I read), and it wasn't PERFECT. BUT, it did format and write everything for me, and I gave feedback, and copied some docs for it as reference. Whos to say if it was necessary or not, but it seemed to help. Needless to say I will be trying this again.

I really think there is a LOT of potential for AI in CDDA, not only in creation, but even for things like NPCs. People have already gotten facebooks new LLama model (offline text model, not fine tuned yet) working on 4gigs of ram (yes on a literal raspberrypi4 4g), on cpu OR gpu. I think the majority of modern machines could run that at the same time as CDDA.

All this said, Its not perfect, and you do need at least a baseline understanding of what you want to be able to direct the AI. If you cant verify if what it is outputting is at least partially correct, it probably wont end well. Personally I've been using chatgpt and LLama very often recently for help with all sorts of things, and its honestly been more useful that google (without reddit appended anyway especially). The thing chatGPT does that I like the most, is that it actually explains why it does things (correct and true or not) so it can become a powerful learning tool. So yeah, dont be afraid to experiment, and keep an open mind! We are only going to get more and more cool stuff moving forward. (gpt3.5/4 is already on the horizon)

This is an extremely light hearted conspiracy theory, I figured frequent viewers of this sub can use some of that (myself included).
We all probably know about the Mandela Effect.
Now while there are multiple theories behind why mandela effects happen - such as time travellers messing with things to create subtle changes, or glitches in the matrix, or testing by the overlords of our simulation - I won't go into any of those, but will be talking about one specific effect that I found on another sub - the missing robber emoji which many swear used to exist but doesn't anymore.
This one has me scared! This is the first mandela effect I believe in. Berenstain bears, there are posts on that sub supporting the existence of both. Looney Tunes is understandable too, an American accent pronounces Tunes the same as Toons. Others, have very reasonable explanations, if we assume that our reality is not being fabricated.
Sticking with this assumption, I feel the robber emoji deserves a better explanation.
Firstly, evidences, claims and counters -
That post is filled with millions swearing by the robber emoji and the hiker emoji having existed. I personally swear by the robber, don't have a strong feeling about the hiker.
(The OP actually put a really funny comment saying something like "bro I swear on my mother's grave there was a robber I see that guy in my nightmares")
I haven't seen anyone on that has looked back on old phones to prove it in that post. I have had friends check an old iPod touch and iPhone running iOS 9 and 11. Neither of them have it, I suspect it was an earlier or later OS, or that it simply didn't exist.
There are claims the emoji was part of a game called BitLife, or it was in an ad for either the iPhone or for Bitlife. These were both pointed out as false as neither the ad could be found nor did the BitLife character look the same.

I've checked with a coder friend and he said it has nothing to do with Unicode. Unicode added emojis to their language after companies already started making it. Important distinction; this should debunk the idea that Unicode is the hive mind that creates emojis.
Finally to add to my personal belief, I loved that emoji because I used it frequently, and I felt it was based on the famous Cops and Robbers iOS game (really early on, maybe during the iPhone 3GS time or something).
Now moving forward to why this Mandela Effect exists! -
I firmly believe this was either a data experiment or a prank agreed upon by the collective minds at big tech. It's more likely that it's a prank.
Think about this - Why the robber and hiker emojis specifically?
Robber: He appears for some time on your phone's emoji list. Then he's gone. It fits with the theme "the robber got away." Or perhaps, you had a chance to catch the robber, but nobody thinks to take screenshots of their keyboard. Or if you did, it's probably buried somewhere in an old phone or in an old hard drive, and it's not worth the effort looking for it.
Hiker: In much the same way, the unanimity is about the hiker emoji being of a person standing still. Like they're taking a break, and then they've continued hiking (off your phone and into somewhere else.) Fits with the theme.
Now this is a great prank! Very elaborate, well done. That would need collusion between Apple Google Microsoft Facebook (for WhatsApp emojis) Samsung etc. It very well could be done. I legit feel if I held a position in that company, I would definitely push everyone to get this idea out there! It's just a great gag.
What if it's not a prank? Then this is most likely to be a method of data collection. To study people's keyboard usage, emoji usage, their memory on emojis, or to study Mandela Effects themselves, or study screenshot habits.
It would explain why there was both the robber and hiker missing - if it was just the robber, it's more likely to have been caught out. So they probably introduced like 50 new emojis, and then removed the hiker and the robber, so that theories of it being removed are discredited with people not being unanimous about the robber and hiker. If you think the robber was missing and someone else says the hiker is missing, you would be more likely to disbelieve your theory that the robber is missing. And vice versa.
All in all, this is a cool thing to discover. It's most likely a gag. But if there's one thing to learn from this, the reality is not often aligned with our perception of it. Is there some deeper form of data collection this simple robber emoji experiment can produce? Are there other consumer behaviours that can be studied from this? Or is it a way to profile and understand the memory power and recollection capabilities of individuals who they collect other data on?
