Who is our best (post Revie) academy graduate?

2022.03.13 21:01 dreadful_name Who is our best (post Revie) academy graduate?

Today we had Joe Gelhardt score perhaps the most important goal of our season coming from our u23s side. So who is the best player we’ve had come through our system?
Of course if we include the Revie years the answer is going to be wall to wall big Jack, Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray etc. so since 1974 who has been the best player we’ve produced?
Here are a few candidates but there will be more (remember they dont have to necessarily have been the best Leeds player).
Kalvin Phillips - starting CM for the most successful England side since 1966
James Milner - longevity, intelligence and trophy cabinet so full it’s probably struggling to close
David Seaman - would actually be my pick. Spent his youth career at Leeds only to follow John Lukic to Arsenal and become the England no 1 that kept out Nigel Martyn. He’s also the only keeper that challenged Peter Schmeichel for the unimaginative man’s best PL goalkeeper.
David Batty - he’s David Batty what else do you need me to say?
Gary Speed - another part of one of the best Leeds midfields ever assembled.
Jonathan Woodgate - the man they allegedly bought Rio Ferdinand as backup for. Also a galactico (he still was one even if he had a mare in Madrid).
Alan Smith - excellent player able to mix with the best in Europe, sadly had some nasty luck with injuries.
Harry K***… - not touching that one
