Forgive me for any lack of clarity on my part, I have a headache as I write this.
During the last week of January, my school vice principals became aware of my familial situation, which at the time involved physical abuse. They decided not to inform me about a scheduled meeting with my mother, with whom I had a strained relationship. During the meeting, two vice principals, including my vice principal and my school program lead, did not allow me to speak and labeled me as disrespectful when I attempted to correct my mother’s false statements. This situation caused me to become visibly upset, though I was crying rather than shouting.
The vice principal then instructed the child and youth worker present to take my school supplies, including my personal laptop, notebooks, and textbooks, to prevent me from leaving as I expressed discomfort and wanted to leave. This happened just before the January end-of-semester exams, which left me significantly behind in my studies. The child and youth worker then took me to her office and locked me in, again to prevent me from leaving. She accused me of being manipulative and deceptive when my alarm went off during the meeting, and I denied having a phone. My mother had restricted my internet access, impacting my ability to complete schoolwork and putting me behind my peers. This is why I had originally purchased a phone for myself; to complete school work. The child and youth worker was aware of this. After being released, I chose not to engage with them further until recently. I did not record the meeting.
On May 27, 2024, a teacher in class made a joking comment about giving us all "S" for behavioral skills on our report cards due to excessive phone use, and mentioned that she had taken pictures of a male student (referred to as "Fred") on his phone months prior. I commented that I had spoken to Fred's mom recently, and she found it amusing. The teacher then loudly asked "shouldn't I be talking to my own parents?" despite knowing about my estrangement due to physical abuse. This caused an audible reaction from the class, who found it inappropriate.
I reported this to my vice principal, who invited the social worker. They dismissed it as banter, suggesting that I had opened myself to such comments when I spoke to Fred's mom's amusement and that the teacher might feel uncomfortable around me in the future. The exact wording was "She might feel like she has to walk on eggshells going forward." They attributed my discomfort to my broader situation rather than the teacher’s comment and suggested I should see a therapist as my reaction was unwarranted and I should have addressed it with the teacher first. The vice principal remarked that my crying was manipulative and that if the issue were urgent, I would have reported it earlier. The meeting was at 9:20 AM. I had initially sought to speak to her at 8:20 AM but was told she was already in a meeting and that she would call me down when she was free. For reference, first period starts at 8:22 AM. She offered to facilitate a meeting between me and the teacher the next morning. I did not record this meeting but plan to record the next one.
How would one best go about this going foreward?
My specific questions are:
Did the school violate the Child and Family Services Act by failing to take appropriate protective measures after knowing about my abuse? Was it legal for the school to arrange a meeting with my mother without informing me, considering the abusive context?
Did the school have the authority to confiscate my personal laptop, notebooks, and textbooks to prevent me from leaving in this context?
Was confining me in a room against my will an act of false imprisonment under the Criminal Code? Do I have a case without evidence on my part?
Did the teacher's comments about my family situation, and the administration's dismissive response, constitute harassment or discrimination under the Ontario Human Rights Code?
Due to the lack of evidence, for the most part, am I better off speaking to an out of school but within the board regulatory body, like the superintendent? Before pursuing legal avenues?
Is there any other legal angle I might be able to approach this from?

How to build your personal 12D Shield:
And then you work with shielding your body, your personal energy field. Most of us know in becoming introduced to our body of work here at Energetic Synthesis, our core practice is the 12th dimensional shield. The 12th dimensional shield is a practice that fortifies and strengthens our aura by reconnecting us to our 12th dimensional blue print or Kryst or krystal body. As we shield ourselves, we learn energetic boundaries of our aura. And then we can learn to boundary test our aura to discordant energies that are uninvited.
The shield also helps us to re-imprint our body to physical and energy sustainability and health and this achieved by bringing balance to the body. It also allows communication to be restored with our spiritual forces and star family. It also empowers our body, ourselves to re-awaken the wisdom of our true origins which may mean we start to decode light language or start to understand more about the hidden history of our planet and of our race.
So as we work with the 12D shield, we use the six-pointed star, which is two triangles of merkabah that is representative of our merkabah body. Many of us are seasoned with this exercise but for many of us that are new and joining us now, let us go through the process of the 12D shield.
Coming in to the center of your brain, visualize a nice silver six-pointed star, the Star of David in the center of the brain. This geometry means unity, unity of polarity coming in to oneness with God. Allow that six- pointed star to be in the inside of your vision in the center of your brain. Feeling that unity move that geometric pattern of the six-pointed star down your chakra column, the center line of your body, and see it release between your legs.
You are going to send that all way to the core of the earth. And as you see your merkabah star, your unity connected to the core of the earth, see that humongous merkabah star in the center of our planet with all of your love, with all of your intentions sending unity of our planet, sending unity to every being on this planet.
As you see a thick feed line of platinum energy start to gather around you from this connection. Taking inhaled breaths you may feel in imprint of a cool menthol kind energy as the platinum shield feels kind of cool like mentholatum or eucalyptus. Memorize this imprint for it is: I am God, I am Sovereign, I am Free. It is the true krystal origin of your connection with God force. As you embody this force, you become the promise that embodies it for all of humanity.
With each inhale, as you feel your body start to connect with that frequency, again connect to that six-pointed star in the center of the earth and draw it up with your breath. As you see it returning back to you, have it stop in a position about 12 inches below your feet. This area beneath you is where the core mathematical signature of krystal body as it connects into your aura exists.
See your six-pointed star 12 inches below your feet and as you do you will see a platform, almost a circular horizontal platform emerge. This platform is your shield, it is your protector, it is that which builds the bottom of your spiritual house. It is your foundation to your spiritual house. So build that foundation. As you feel the firmness and the support building the foundation of your spiritual house in a circular platform, see your six-pointed star in the center of that platform. It is your core, it is your pillar, it is your strength and it belongs to you and no one else. This is your covenant and protection with God always.
As you feel your foundation, now start to sense and see that your 12D shield, a platinum energy emits off your foundation and feel it building a circular pillar of platinum sparked white light around you covering your body, every cell and pore of your energy system emitting and connected to crystalline light of God. As it protects you, as it hold you, as it supports you, it is your foundation and it is your security.
See it building over your legs and hips as it reaches your waist and your shoulders. Start to see it building above your head. You are going to intend to strengthen this pillar and build this pillar about 3 or 4 feet above your head. And this is the first dimensions to build your pillar in order to protect the personal aura body. If you bring your aura in and you want to protect the boundaries of your energy field - you can use this technique so that you can learn to test discordant energies and allow only that which is invited to impact your energy field. You are learning to boundary test. You are learning to create a boundary with your personal energy field before you can start to share this field with the planet and with others which will naturally happen as you become more stabilized and balanced in your own energy field. This process is called “commanding your personal space”.
Allow the shield to build and see yourself fully encompassed in your personal platinum pillar from 12 inches or so beneath your feet to 3 and a half to 4 feet above your head, your entire aura, your entire body saturated and protected in this strong pillar of platinum light.
And now we are going to build the same foundation on the top as you did on the bottom as you again in your inner vision - connect to the six-pointed star in the center of the foundation of your spiritual house. Let’s start to bring that six pointed star up through the center column of your body. Again the six pointed star represents the unity of polarities, unity of the inner masculine/feminine, it is all represented in this merkabah star symbol as it we allow it to move up the body’s center column and see it release at the top of the crown chakra. Send that six-pointed star to the very top of your pillar of light and let it linger there for a moment about 3 to 4 feet above your body, right in the center above your head. See that thick white light building strength in your core. That is your monadic staff or your central vertical channel. It’s the structure where your chakras are built upon.
If you cannot see this, just intend it for that is enough. In your vision, as you intend to put the six-pointed star 3 and half or 4 feet above your head see it start to build. It will start in its own movement of spinning to start to build yet another circular foundation above your head. You are protected below and you are protected above. As you create another lid to seal yourself inside your personal pillar of light , this is the roof of your house, the roof of your spiritual body.
We are going to see that “lid” as a circular platform just like you did below on your foundation. Create a circular roof that is like your lid on top of your shield. And as you feel that roof firmly being built these are the spiritual energies of your inner god force. Seal that seal in to the top of your platinum pillar of light. When this happens it almost feels like a hermetic seal as your are fully suspended in this protective light, fully shielded in your spiritual house and from this place you can use discernment, you can boundary test in all modalities and all decision and in all things that cross your path. If something becomes unclear or confused, allow it to be tested against your shield. Is it of your resonance? Is it not of your resonance? If it is not, do not fear it, let it go and move on your personal path. You are not missing anything. You didn’t make a bad decision. There is no mistake, only that which resonates with your personal heart-based God force and that which does not.
So you again feel yourself suspended in the protective spiritual house and pillar of God’s light. Program it through I am God, I am Sovereign, I am Free and allow nothing that is not aligned with those frequencies to enter your field, to enter your shield.
Finally focus on the six-pointed star, your Unity Merkaba symbol at the center of your personal pillar 3 to 4 feet above your head. You are now intending to ground multi-dimensionally by sending your six-pointed star out into deep space and into the connection with the Heart of the Universe, the heart of God itself. See your Merkabah Star flow away from the top of your shield through a platinum feed line all the way into the core of the Universe and grounding yourself into the center of the Cosmic Heart of the Universe.
And now from the place of your shield, you are going to invite your higher self, God self and your Ascension Guides, those which are in alignment to your sovereign freedom and to your highest evolution and heroic probability as we establish the connection with your beloveds, with your spiritual family. You know you are never alone. You know you are fully supported.
As you thank your Ascension guides, as you thank God, and allow yourself to be filled with peace, harmony, balance, and integration. Know that you are on the path of Ascension and on a need to know basis. And as you trust, you will receive all that you need in the moment. Learn to trust and listen to your inner spirit. Release all your worries, all of your doubt. Cast your entire burden to God now. In deep love and gratitude complete your meditation and seal your communication and intention.

Hey guys! fnafking_93 here! Today, I'll be explaining the subject on the consistient strategy for 10/20 mode! Before I get into this in deeper meaning, I wanna thank Shooter25 for bulding a strategy that was game-changing in the FNAF community! What is this strategy?
Now, I'm pretty sure everyone has a strong comprehension about the strategy I'll be showing you guys! But this article is for those who are struggling with 10/20 mode or for the players who are wanting to beat this mode very consistiently but have no idea how!
Strategy:

1. According to Shooter25, Foxy can only attack at a 10 second interval! So the goal is pretty straightforward: Skip the 10 second interval!
   
2. Every single time, Foxy can not attack while a blackout is occuring in the game screen, you can use this time to skip the 10 second interval! Once the office comes back into view, flash the hall and then check the right vent for Toy Bonnie! If he's not there wind the music box until ______5.5 or _______6 second mark and then drop the monitor and wear the Freddy mask
   
3. Of course, 10/20 mode has ubquitous problems that will appear at one point! That problem is when there is no blackout niether is Toy Bonnie in the vent! If this happens, repeat the pattern of: Right Vent Light, Flash Hall, Check Left Vent and repeat until the _______1 mark and then wind the music box until the _________5.5 mark, and then wear the Freddy Mask! Now let's say, no office animatronic appears and Toy Bonnie is not in the vent ! And when you check the left vent (Toy Chica or BB) are there. Something I like to do is flash the hall until the ____1 mark to skip the 10 second interval or you can flash the hall a good amount. You can choose which way is the most optimal way!
   
4. If Toy Bonnie is in the vent, flash the hall until the next ______5.5 interval and then wear your mask! Toy Bonnie will play his animation right away or he'll take a few seconds. If you get the red warning for the music box (Which is extremely rare) then don't wait the 0.75 seconds and immediately wind the music box and Puppet Stall, something I like is to flash the Puppet 2 times to stall him for sure and not expect any unwanted surprises!
   

For the new players to 10/20 mode, this will take some practice to get used too! You'll need a stopwatch and a good mental state because 10/20 mode is pretty mentalily taxing on the new player! Just remember new players: Go at your own pace! It's not a race! by fnafking_93! Don't compare yourself to others who have defeated this mode a trillion times in a row! Trust me! You'll be able to master this strategy in no time! Just remember to take breaks when needed because 50/20 mode will require a lot of breaks so practice the good habits now! Take your time because I would rather have someone who took there time on this mode and understood on what they did, instead of someone who beated first try and didn't even understand a single thing they did!

My boyfriend and I were invited last minute to a trip that requires a drive to a different state. It was a 2 day trip and there were seven of us in total. So without my boyfriend and I, there would've been five people who could all fit in one car. The person who invited me is a friend that I was slowly becoming close with. She insisted that I come as replacement for her now-ex. She offered to use her Tesla to drive us since we can't all fit in one car. We went over the costs prior to the trip and she told me she would need help paying for supercharging her Tesla and she estimated it to be around $50, to which I agreed.
Things to note: We (bf and I) were supposed to meet her at a train station, but she decided to pick us up from home. She came to us with low battery so we had to charge immediately before leaving. We charged again in the middle of the trip and the final charge, we filled her battery completely and she dropped us at a station far from home with mostly full battery left. It was $25 to get back home by train. She also drove to places without us and everywhere we went together was a group decision and it was never bf and I demanding her to take us somewhere.
After it ended, I asked her what I owed her and she said that the charging was around $60 and the tolls were around $20. I said I'd pay for the charge but not the toll because $80 is a lot for me on top of all the costs of the trip, but also because, her travel fees are technically $0 if I pay all of it. If my boyfriend and I didn't come, she'd still have to pay for gas for the car she would ride in, which, when calculated was around $20 - $30. So I thought it was fair for her to contribute a bit to her own travel. Btw she never showed me how much the tolls were, she just stated that it was $20. But I said if it was over $20, I'd cover the difference.
To all this, her rebuttals were (in short) "you owe me the whole amount because I wouldn't have to use my car if you didn't come. I drove for you and risked getting into an accident that insurance would not cover and used mileage. I was basically your Uber driver because you fell asleep in the car, read manga, and you turned the music down once. I'm the most broke person here, and you're choosing $20 over our friendship. You owe me the full amount for the labor of driving. I contributed in ways other than driving (like planning parts of the trip or talking to other group members)".
My response was that she shouldn't have invited me if driving was going to be a problem for her and that it was her idea and insistence that brought me and bf on the trip. I also said that broke people dont initiate expensive vacations but I was being snarky there. And while I agree that the labor of driving is tough, it's not like I was taking the ride for free, I still paid for all the charge. Plus she agreed to it knowing that's what she's expected to do. She didn't tell me that I had to pay for tolls or her labor until we were back home. I ended up paying the $20 extra in the end anyway because I was sick of the back and forth and she was getting really toxic and accusing me of other terrible things I apparently did while on the trip. So this post isn't about trying to fix things with her. I just wanna know if I was the asshole for not wanting to pay $20.
There's other info I could add if it seems necessary to the context.

I will pre-empt that I am only one celiac, and I am not a Dr or anything like that. But I wanted to share how I went from constantly sick and confused, to healthy and normal after so many years. I am hoping that by sharing this, I can help some other sufferers escape their daily pains.

1. The hardest but most necessary part for success. Stop everything. It sounds like a lot, and it is. The problem with our bodies is it does not give us a clear daily report on what is affecting us. So most of the time we encounter an issue and wonder what out of several things could have caused it. It is impossible to solve your system like that. The best thing I did was live a few months with the barest basics I could manage. Rice, water, fruit, no makeup, body or hair products. I used certified gluten free soap and shampoo, and only ate what I knew sat comfortably. I ignored all other temptations and kept my social life minimal as possible, just enjoying home and resting. I know to take time out of our lives usually means dropping the ball on other things, but doing those things is so much easier when you are healthy. It is worth finding the time to give yourself as much of a break as possible. Once I felt I was clear of any gluten symptoms and had given myself enough time to heal, I began to slowly reintroduce items one at a time, very slowly. The first year sucked the most, because it was the year I had the least on the menu, but as you try and feel safe with more items, you get a better idea of what sits well in your system and what doesn't. By taking this time to pay attention to how foods affect you, you will get a much better understanding of what can help and what can hinder you. Now when I am contaminated there is rarely a guessing game of what got me.
   
2. I got an additional allergen test and talked with the doctor about my system. I did a 3rd party allergen test that found I was sensitive to some types of fish, nuts and spices, that were adding to the internal inflammation I was struggling with. My doctor did a test that found out my digestion moves slower than normal and I have high acid content. With this information, I cut out the other foods and noticed a large decrease in my inflammation issues, as well as the medication I got to help control my stomach acid. I was also able to think about my meals and make better decisions based on what could create too much acidity and to find more alkaline foods that could help during inflammation times. This helped me better understand the signals my body would tell me, and prevent additional digestive issues from muddying the waters of my recovery and understanding.
   
3. Symptom and food journal. I recorded every bowel movement and meal, as well as what symptoms I would feel and how long they would last. I set a regular alarm on my phone and had a journalling app, so I could journal from anywhere regularly. I made sticky notes for myself to remind myself too. I would forget some days, but even recording what I could remember would help. After doing this for a month, I could see some patterns that I didn't recognize before and I was able to share it with my doctor. This helped him understand what I was going through more clearly, and he was able to do a lot more to help me with that information that before.
   
4. Research and Advocate - Doctors usually only know celiac disease in a passing sense, they read a paragraph in their university textbooks or have surface level knowledge. Many do not have active experience and can even harbor biases without realizing. This is where the symptom journal can help show what you are suffering daily and makes it harder for them to blow you off. Take the time to learn everything you can about the disease and how it can affect you now and in your older years so you can know what to look out for. My doctor mishandled my care for a long time, because I was too young to understand how to advocate for myself. As I got older, I was able to do my own research and I would send my doctor emails with what I found. This is when he admitted he was unaware of the additional science, and began to do his own research. He began to be much less resistant to helping me and understood I was a patient that was serious about their health. It is worth it to learn how to document and communicate your needs.
   
5. Therapy. Having food become a danger messes with the head, and it is understandable. I became food avoidant and fell below 90 lbs at one point, I didn't know what meals would add to the hurt, nothing made me feel better at the time. I would rather starve all day than attempt anything. I ended up becoming fearful of leaving my home even. Not everyone gets this scared, it depends how rough the symptoms are. My symptoms were always intense, so I became fearful of triggering them. Over time though, I worked with my therapist and we treated it like rungs on a ladder. I took my fears one step at a time, challenging them and proving to myself that I could be safe, that I could escape the cycle of perpetual pain. With his motivation and me holding myself responsible, I was able to become more confident and assured.
   

This process took me many years, it was not something I could accomplish in a short burst, but a steady accumulation of my efforts over time. It took a lot of focus, and I had to drop the ball on other things in my life to do it. But I am not sick everyday anymore, I don't feel that constant pain I would carry around and my mind feels clear, my heart energetic. It's been a hard road to understand and master my celiac, I look back at the beginning like a soldier reflects on war. But there is a chance to feel normal again, it takes some swimming, but it is worth the effort. I promise you that.

I have compiled every bit of insight I've found for test-takers of the FTCE English 5-9 exam.
For context: after interviewing at my dream school, I was told at the end of the interview that I have the job, if I passed the English 5-9 exams (and pending my SOE from FLDOE, obviously). I was thrilled. The only problem: with the score reporting dates and the alignment of the first day of school, I needed to take this test within the next two weeks to receive my results and ultimately be hired before the next school year. I interviewed last Wednesday and scheduled the exams for Thursday (MC) and Tuesday (Essay).
I did so much research the first day, trying my best to find every bit of information about what to expect during these tests. Here is a compiled list of my advice/tips & tricks to pass the first try. Note: I know I passed the multiple choice, but am awaiting results for the written portion of the exam. I will know if I passed the written essay by June 24, and will update this post then.
TLDR: When researching, I could only find people asking for help, but little to no help was given. I am compiling everything here for those seeking out more information like I was.
Multiple Choice Recommendations:

• 240Tutoring is known to be a great resource, but it is expensive. For me personally, I did not have time to enroll in it, nor did I have the money to waste. I do not feel like deciding to pass on it affected my score or my confidence during the test.
• Instead, I consistently took practice tests over and over until I felt comfortable with the types of questions to expect on the test. I took practice tests from 240Tutoring (the entire 60 questions at the sacrifice of my email), FTCE.org, and Quizlet. I found study sets with the types of questions from the exam and utilized the free Practice Test tool.
• The multiple-choice questions are not intended to trick you. For teaching questions, if you focus on the answers that directly highlight differentiated instruction, data-driven instruction, and utilizing the district/state standards, you will get the answer correct. For ELA knowledge questions, you simply need to be familiar with the types of things you can expect to be teaching, from figurative language to notable authors. Don't spend too much time studying incredibly niche titles. Think bigger picture.
• Utilize the highlight tool to break the questions down. Figure out exactly what the question is asking and answer that part. Don't think too deeply about the details or the nuance. If information is not provided in the question, it shouldn't be in your answer.

Written Essay Recommendations:
NOTE: I spent a lot of time analyzing the examples on FTCE.org so you don't have to. None of this information was compiled based on MY exam and MY response, only based on the example provided by FTCE.

• The prompt will give you six bullet points of evaluation. In your response, there should be one paragraph per bullet point with 2-5 sentences each, addressing directly what is asked in the bullet point. They should be succinct, and every sentence should serve a purpose for the scoring criteria; completion, application of content, or support. Each paragraph should have at least 1-2 citations from either the student or the exhibits as evidence for evaluation.
• Do not comment on any aspect of the student's essay without evaluating the student's writing. For example, none of your responses should include your opinion about the assignment or evidence given to the student, only the student's interpretation of the evidence and their written response to the assignment.
• Comment evaluatively rather than descriptively, and do not repeat the student's point without evaluation to accompany it.
• Identify and evaluate the flaws in student reasoning, with recommendations for improvement utilizing domain-specific vocabulary. Highlight your understanding of essay writing conventions while addressing why and how those conventions are important for improving the students' writing.
• Consistently reference the students' writing and/or the assignment by using quotations or parentheticals throughout the response.

So in summary, just remember to EVALUATE WITH EVIDENCE. Provide clear and concise feedback, with relevant recommendations for improvement, supported by instructional and standards-based practices.

Hello! My story is very unpleasant, but probably ordinary. I want to ask for advice or your opinion, what would you do in this case? I ask you to refrain from insults and hate towards me, I already know and understand all my shortcomings. So, given: In May 2023, I buy a car from Russian-speaking dealers who give me a loan through lendbuzz. At that time I already had all the documents: ssn, but they didn’t take it and issued it on my DL. I took a Tesla S (they assured me that the car was not salvage and it would have a free supercharger), I signed AS IS. As soon as I left the showroom on the way home (Los Angeles - Sacramento), the Supercharger turned off. It is clear that the Dealers lied to me, refused to take it back, etc. I took it for diagnostics and it turned out that there were dead batteries and a dead pump. I couldn’t achieve anything with the Dealers, I couldn’t pay the bank because I had a nervous breakdown, depression and I shared a room with a friend and worked just to survive. After a while, I meet a guy who understands my situation and volunteers to help with the repairs. I agree, he takes her to shap, our relationship does not go beyond friendship on my initiative, which clearly irritates him very much. And then I fall emotionally into the “clutches” of a manipulator and abuser. I naively believe that he will help me in this matter, he professionally assures me that it takes a lot of time and he will help me repair it, pay off the debt, which will help me sell this car. This all lasts until December 2023, in which I decide to leave this state and move to another city. Having moved to another city, I slowly begin to find the strength to work and live. In the Tesla app, my car turns off (as he explained that they changed the batteries) and he continues to feed me promises every day. I believe because hope is such a thing that it is very pleasant to rely on. Today, I find out that that guy was a great deceiver and he either sold my car for parts (since the bank has the title because the car is on credit) or pledged it. I found people with whom he did the same and on whom he imposed debts. He was an expat and most likely collected all the money, turned off the phones and left for Mexico. People are looking for their cars, filing a police report, but so far in vain. What should I do? I am a girl from Ukraine and in the USA for 2 years. This is a scary situation for me. The bank and collectors call me, I don’t know where the car is or whether it even exists. Write a statement to the police? Explain to collectors? What would you do in this situation? I have been deceived so many times and I am afraid to do anything, I will not be able to pay off this loan, especially without having a car..

Of all the skills I’d picked up throughout my short lifetime spent back on Earth, I never would have guessed that the ability to mix up homemade hairspray would prove to be so useful. Looking over myself in the captain’s bathroom mirror, however, I could hardly deny the results. Though our faces looked rather different, if one were to judge purely based upon hairstyle, Theruf and I would be indistinguishable.
Adjusting the newly-shortened cuff of Theruf’s uniform sleeve, I exited the lavatory and at a brisk clip took off back toward our ship’s medbay. Stepping inside the room, I watched as Emma and a newly-thawed evolutionary biologist with thinning hair carefully carved into one of the corpses produced during our recent confrontations with the Phylix. Meanwhile, against the room’s far wall, a tall, lanky electrocranial engineer formerly employed by Cogitolink could be seen hooking up various wires to a sedated Theruf whilst John kept watch.
“What all do we know?” I asked, stepping over to the dissection table and taking in its scent akin to that of rotten vegetation mixed with maple syrup. If we were to successfully blend in with Phylix civilization, adequate biological knowledge would be every bit as important as cultural.
“I’ve never seen anything quite like this!” Replied Em, her tone absolutely giddy as she looked up from the microscope under which rested a clump of Phylix ‘flesh’. “Sure, they might look Human on the outside, but internally the differences between us are staggering. For example, while they do obtain a vast majority of their energy from the consumption of organic matter, Phylix also appear to be capable of sophisticated photosynthesis.”
While surely for someone more well-versed in life sciences all this would be incredibly fascinating, I as a hairdresser was far more interested in things that would aid me directly. “And how do they match up in comparison to us?” I asked, hoping to more fully understand what we were up against here.
Experienced as Emma no doubt was in dealing with plants, comparing and contrasting different organisms was far more in the evolutionary biologist’s domain, and as such it was him who next spoke up. “Their bodies appear to prioritize energy efficiency above all else, with some concessions being made for reflex speed,” he began, carefully analyzing an extracted strand of alien sinew as he spoke. “They require fewer than half the calories we do in order to function at optimal capacity, and a small portion of that is covered for by their photosynthetic skin.“
“So we need to eat more than they do. What else do the Phylix have over on us?”
“Let’s see… Phylix skin is tougher than ours, and they appear to possess powerful regenerative abilities almost like those of bamboo. We have them beat at just about everything else, however…” The biologist half-smirked, glancing over at a computer screen loaded with variables beyond my understanding and typing in yet another set of data. “Their reflexes, while rather fast given the gravity of this planet, are nevertheless inferior to our own. We also far outclass them in terms of strength, speed, and endurance.”
“Their central nervous system is different too,” murmured the electrocranial engineer, looking over a three dimensional model presumably of Theruf’s brain—its central mass sequestered inside his skull with roots extending outward from it to form what we Humans had at first mistaken for hair. “I’m seeing signs of both repaired and newly-created neurons within this one’s brain: Humans can’t do that. Phylix neuroplasticity is also off the charts, indicating an enhanced capacity for learning and the ability to adapt to whatever brain damage can’t be healed.”
That was good news for Theruf, at least, given what we had done to him when first obtaining a root sample. If there was one thing I knew about evolution, however, it was that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. “What’s the trade off?” I asked, hoping for something else that we might be able to leverage against the Phylix.
“I’ll need more specimens to say for sure, but looking at this one, my current hypothesis is that they traded away much of their pattern recognition.”
This insight, while much appreciated, was not why we thawed out a Cogitolink employee. “Will you be able to download his memories?” I asked, tapping repeatedly upon my forehead for emphasis. Initially, I had planned to simply interrogate Theruf for information on how to blend in, but threatening a fanatic with martyrdom was about as effective as threatening an alcoholic with a second gin and tonic. Having all the soldier’s knowledge loaded into my GRIM would allow me to blend in seamlessly with his kind, eliminating much of the involved guesswork.
“That depends…” Replied the engineer, his tone unnervingly somber as he navigated to yet another screen. “Their neural structure is too different from ours for a direct transcription, meaning I likely won’t be able to get anything more than basic information… Unless…”
“Unless what?” John growled, looking down upon our unconscious prisoner with icy disregard.
Following a long moment’s hesitation, the engineer eventually relented and with a heavy sigh imparted upon us our second option. “If we run a high-power charge through his brain, the computer will be able to map almost the entire thing. We’ll be able to blend in with his kind perfectly…”
“Lemme guess: there a big fuckin’ catch, isn’t there?” John half-groaned, staring down the former Cogitolink employee as he awaited the inevitable affirmation and elaboration.
“If turning his brain into a heap of organic mush is what you’d consider a drawback, then yes.”
Silence fell over the room as we all contemplated the weight of such a decision. Killing in self-defense was one thing, but the borderline execution of a sapient being, no matter how vile, was another matter entirely. All it took to shatter this quiet, however, were two words from the commodore’s mouth. “Do it.”
Again, the engineer hesitated. “Are you sure?” He asked, his fingers remaining at rest in spite of the order. The rest of us, meanwhile, were too stunned to speak out.
“Don’t you lot forget the contract we signed!” Barked John, his tone booming with power and authority befitting a military man. “Humanity’s survival is our top priority. At all costs.”
At last regaining her voice after several long moments of speechlessness, Em stepped past the commodore to stand in solidarity at the engineer’s side. “Theruf is a brainwashed victim of his own society—we can’t just murder him for following orders!”
“Let’s not be overdramatic here!” Cautioned the biologist, his expression utterly unfazed by the notion of putting down our prisoner. “He’s a fascist soldier who’d kill every last one of us given half a chance. At least this way he’ll die for a good cause.”
Indecision immobilized me amidst my fellow’s colonists’ arguing. Back when I first pressed Theruf’s own gun to the back of his head, the urge to end him on the spot had been palpable. Now, however, given the chance to put things into perspective, I wasn’t sure what we should do with the captive. So I remained silent as the lot of them continued their impromptu trial of the unconscious Phylix.
“I’m not so sure I’m comfortable doing this…” The engineer winced, his hands falling away from the keyboard as he cast down his gaze from the waiting commodore’s glare.
“Fine…” John growled, taking a step towards the surgery bay computer and placing his own hand upon it. “Just tell me what commands to type in and I’ll do it. No blood on your hands, right? Just mine.”
Evidently dissatisfied with this rationalization, Em rounded the dissection table and began to approach the commodore as though to stop him manually. Her efforts, however, were thwarted when the biologist moved to intercept her. “We can’t take any risks here!” He sighed, outstretching an arm toward me for emphasis. “If Booker’s disguise fails, it’s game over for us, for the colony—maybe for humanity for all we know!”
“Listen to your fellow scientist,” sighed John, regarding Emma with a confusing concoction of warm understanding and cold, ruthless utilitarianism. “If you think I get some kind of sick kick out of this, then you’re dead wrong; but I swore an oath to keep Humanity safe, and if I have to kill a million of these bastards to do it, then I will not hesitate.”
“Wait!” Stammered the engineer, grabbing John’s arm as though to prevent him from pressing any of the keys. “There might be another way. If you guys can obtain a few more living samples for me, I might be able to calibrate a non-lethal mapping charge.”
“And how many ‘samples’ is that going to take?” Asked the biologist, his tone dripping with skepticism.
For a moment, the former Cogitolink employee hesitated to provide us with an answer to this fairly straightforward inquiry. Eventually, however, he relented in his secrecy. “Forty… Maybe fifty?”
“Getting that many captives would take time that we don't have, Manley!" John barked, offhandedly referencing the engineer's surname amidst his admonishment of the idea.
This argument continued for what must have been half an hour, devolving at times into a shouting match between Emma and the commodore before then cooling off yet again into cold, yet relatively-peaceful periods of debate. This rhythm of argument was disrupted, however, when Em jabbed her finger towards me. "Booker is the one whose going to be wearing Theruf's appearance: it should be his choice whether or not to sacrifice him."
Whereas before the group had been divided into two sides, on this matter Manley and the biologist seemed to agree with Em, deriving a somewhat frustrated sigh from the commodore as he suddenly found himself outnumbered. "Fine..." John conceded, searching my expression for any indication of what route I might take here. Unfortunately for him, even I had not a clue at the moment what to do. "Booker: you've heard our cases for and against this plan, so what do you think we should do?"
If I'm honest, I would have been perfectly happy to let this debate play out entirely without my input. If I agreed to this plan, then the sap of our prisoner would be on my hands; yet if I declined and we wound up failing, then it would be my bloody signature upon the colony's death warrant. The decision was by no means an easy one. Perhaps from an outside perspective, John might seem to be overly callous, but to those of us in that room it was abundantly clear that his actions stemmed from a genuine desire to protect the colony.
Before the lot of them dragged me into this debate, I'd have been perfectly fine with either decision, but now that it was my finger on the trigger, I simply couldn't bring myself to pull it. "We can work with the basics," I confirmed, prompting from the engineer a sigh of relief as he began calibrating a weak mapping charge that would only penetrate the most well-trodden of our prisoner's neural pathways. "We're going to need more identities to infiltrate the camp with anyways. Theruf's people should come looking for him soon: I'll play the part and draw whoever shows up back here so we can capture them."
"And what do you propose we do with them once they're in our hands?" Growled John, still evidently not quite sold on this idea. "We don't have the resources to keep them locked up for long."
"We could use the cryopods!" Replied the botanist in my stead—Fortunately so given my lack of a workable answer. "Judging by Phylix cell structure, they appear to be capable of hibernating to a certain degree, much like certain plants on Earth. So long as we keep the cryopod temperatures in the correct range and thaw out any prisoners once in a while to ensure they don't break down, it should be enough to keep them sedated or at least docile." Em concluded, her expression hardened by newfound acceptance of our circumstances.
Completing his setup of the charge to no fanfare from the rest of us, Manley typed in one final chunk of commands before pressing down upon the terminal's 'enter' key, causing Theruf's body to twitch slightly as a loading bar appeared on screen showing the download progress. When at last the final pixel of white was overtaken by green, my GRIM was quick to notify me of the database's new addition.
Gently pulling Theruf's gun from its holster at my side and turning it over in my grasp, my brain tingled in response to the artificial neuron stimulation of Theruf's implanted memories. Gesturing for the others to follow me, I once again traversed our ship's hallways until the night sky's glittering canvas shone overhead.
Back when I had first held Theruf's weapon in my hands, it had felt completely foreign to me. The mechanisms on it made nary a lick of sense, and in all honesty I probably couldn't have fired it if I tried. Standing amongst the skin trees with our prisoner's memories in my mind, however, I was able to draw the gun and flick off it's safety in a single fluid motion. Behind me, the other colonists watched as I put three shots into one of the trees in front of us, aiming for a large central scab eerily reminiscent of an eye. Trails of crimson dripping from tree's flesh marked where my shots had landed., and though none of them actually hit their mark, the fact that all three bullets even hit the tree at all despite my never firing a gun in my life was in itself evidence of the download's success.
"Not bad..." John chuckled briefly, stepping up beside me and drawing his own gun before planting three shots square in the scab's center, causing it to burst like a blood-filled balloon. "Your aim still needs work, though."
Studying for a moment the bullet holes left behind by my demonstration, Manley hummed in contemplation. "Muscle memory transcriptions are never perfect," he explained, looking curiously upon the weapon as I returned it to its holster. "They can't override more powerful neural connections for example, which is why John's aim is still superior. That being said, Booker, I'm more concerned about what you know than what you can do. The chip should provide you with context when you encounter situations common to Theruf, but it's unlikely you'll be able to recall complex details. You know how to use that gun, sure, but I'd wager to guess you still haven't a clue how it works."
He was right, of course. I knew that I had to hold down the weapon's trigger for at least one second in order for it to fire properly, but I still hadn't a clue why that was the case. Closing my eyes and concentrating upon the information newly nestled within me, I cleared my throat and assuming a rough approximation of our prisoner's voice spoke out. "I am he known as Theruf..." I began, mentally exploring every available aspect of this newfound role dictated to me by the GRIM. "I was raised in the small town of Dzidra. My father works as a mechanic and I have two siblings: Mathul and Zekari... John: get everyone inside the ship and prepare your men for an ambush. I'll go back to the ridge where me and Boris first saw the Phylix and wait for more soldiers to show up, then I'll lure them back here to be captured alive. Can you work with that?"
"Are you seriously asking if I can prep a simple ambush?" Began the commodore, sounding almost offended by the notion of such a thing being in question. "Don't worry about us, 'Theruf': just bring some guests and I'll throw the damn party!"
Satisfied with our plan, John gave me a pat on the back for good luck as I set off once more into the night, weaving between skin trees until our ship’s lights faded from view altogether. At last arriving once more at the overlook, I sat down a few feet from the ledge and there awaited the arrival of Theruf’s fellow soldiers.
Glimmers of new dawn peered out from under the distant horizon amidst my watch, casting shadows upon Theruf's wicked workplace as though to hide its atrocities from the judgmental light of day. Only just had this planet's parent star crested into view when at last were the forest's rhythmic respirations interrupted by a distant grinding of tires against dirt.
Rising to my feet and making my way toward the noise's source, I soon enough found myself stood at the edge of a hitherto-unseen clearing. Hiding myself from sight behind a nearby skin tree, I watched as a bulky military vehicle trundled uphill to then find rest upon the relatively-level forest floor. No sooner had this vehicle come to a stop than did three soldiers clad in uniforms not unlike Theruf's step out. "This is where our brothers in arms were last known to have been," began one of the men. "We should fan out and search the area."
Sounds like that's my queue... Taking a deep breath to steel my nerves, I dramatically limped out into the clearing, waving frantically to my supposed comrades. Though at first they had raised their guns to the noise of my stumbling out, these soldiers were quick to lower their weapons as they got a good look at me.
"Theruf?" One of the soldiers called out, stepping toward me without hesitation. "Good to see you well, man: where are the others?"
"They need help, Fhasda!" I sputtered out in a tone of faux-panic as Theruf's memories filled in the gap of this one's name. "We were investigating a strange object crashing into these forests... And we found something!"
"What exactly did you find?" Asked one of the other soldiers, looking upon me with newfound skepticism.
Staggering back into the forest with a gesture commanding these three soldiers to follow, I turned back around to conceal a grin as they did so without hesitation. "Let me show you: they're this way!" I exclaimed to the unwitting Phylixm, deliberately remaining vague with my explanation so as to keep their curiosity piqued. When at last the ship's lights came into view, I slowed down to allow for Fhasda and the others to catch up as the four of us continued on toward the now vacant entrance ramp. "They're in here!" I told them, pointing toward the open entryway.
Gasps resounded out from the trio of guards as they looked upon the Lightbringer in total disbelief. "What is that thing?" One of them asked, prompting from Fhasda an unsure shrug as he recklessly approached the main ramp.
"We don't know!" I lied, leaning back against a skin tree to signal my exhaustion. "I know they were brought here by whatever attacked us. I think it's gone for now, but I'll keep watch out here in case it comes back!"
"Good idea," Fhasda affirmed, gesturing for his men to take formation around him as without another moment's hesitation they walked up the ship's entrance ramp and entered into the jaws of a waiting ambush...

It was a late night in the inn, and Roto gazed down at the old bandanna, running his free hand over the worn dragon head pattern with a nostalgic smile. Hearing a door creak open, he glanced up and smiled at Strix, stashing the bandana in his pack. "Hello, sunfly. Finished?"
The young tiefling gave a nod and cheeky salute as he walked forward. "Yep. All polished up like a richman's watch, papa. You don't need to check anything."
Roto raised a brow ridge at that last bit, and cocked his right ear suspiciously as he stood up. "Oh, is that so? Brushed your teeth, scrubbed behind your ears?"
Strix huffed and rolled his eyes before giving an exaggerated snarl to show off his freshly clean fangs. "Sheee?"
Roto huffed a laugh and walked forward to ruffle his boy's hair before drawing him into a one armed hug. "Only barely. I think you almost blinded me there, kiddo. Good job brushing."
His smile widened as he heard Strix give a soft, happy chirp at the compliment. It'd been a long, hard battle to make sure his son felt safe enough to give off instinctual noises like that, so it was always a relief to hear, especially since it was adorable.
Though, he wouldn't be pointing that out just yet. His sunfly was prideful, and insisted that he was a tough street kid that didn't need any pampering, or any sort of softness at all, never mind that he was alway eager to accept a hug.
So, instead, he let the noise lie and instead reached to give Strix another hair ruffle. Noticing something, he paused, then resumed the hair ruffle anyway as he casually asked, "How about your horns, kiddo? You got them polished, right?"
Strix stiffened, then gave an awkward grin. "Yeeeeeesss?"
Roto sighed in fond exasperation. "Strix..."
The boy huffed, though his tail gave a guilty lash. "It's not as if it's important, papa. My horns have always been just fine, and I didn't have any fancy soap or nothin'."
Roto sighed and guided the boy over to a stool. "Horn care is very important, sunfly, especially with ridged ones like yours. Letting stuff build up under those ridges can affect your health, and that's not something I'm willing to risk with you. Come on, hop up."
The boy grumbled but complied, clambering onto the seat with a pout. Resisting the urge to both coo and laugh, Roto snagged his tin of horn polish and got to work on Strix's horns, soon falling into a soft, nonsense song as he worked. Smiling gently as he noticed Strix relax and begin to hum along, Roto continued, finishing after some time. "And there we are. Not so bad, was it?"
Strix huffed and hopped down off of the stool. His tail flicked back and forth happily, but he gave an uncertain hum. "It...did feel nice...and my horns do feel a little better. Still kinda seems like a waste of shine to buy stuff specifically to take care of these things though."
Roto hugged the boy again. "It's never a waste, of 'shine', time, or anything else, to take care of you, kiddo, and don't you go thinking otherwise."
Strix gave another happy chirp. Flushing slightly, he hid his face in his dad's midsection, nodding. "If you say so, papa."
Roto chuckled and patted the boy's head. "I do say so, as a matter of fact."
Strix hummed, his tail flicking contently. A few seconds later it curled nervously. "Do...Would it be ok if you could help me with my horns more often, papa? It...It was nice."
Roto blinked, then gave a soft, fond smile as his hug tightened. "Of course, sweetheart. Every night, if that's what you'd like."
The young tiefling gave another happy chirp, his tail going back to the content flicking. "Thanks,papa."
Roto's smile widened, and he reached up a hand to ruffle the boy's hair. "Of course, sunfly."
His voice grew a teasing edge as he continued. "After all, I've gotta catch up to Jirvs. He's got all sorts of mischief he gets to do with you."
He continued dryly as he remembered calming down a angered melon salesman earlier that day. "And leaving me to clean up after the both of you, of course."
His own tail flicks happily as Strix giggles. "Poor papa."
Chuckling, Roto ruffled his son's hair just roughly enough to be a fond chide. "Yes, poor papa, you little menace."
He snorted as Strix grinned proudly up at him with no sense of shame whatsoever. Watching as the kid glanced over at the door with a worried frown, he hummed. "He'll be back soon, sunfly. You don't need to worry."
Strix blinked, flushed, then huffed, his cheeks puffed out in a pout. "I'm nat worried about 'em! Ol' Cyclops can take care of 'emself. He's...he's just late, is all."
Roto pulled back, torn between being aghast and breaking down into a giggle fit over his son's sheer audacity. "Strix! You...you can't just call your father that. I thought you were buddies."
Strix, distracted from his worries, blinked and tilted his head in confusion. "We are? That jest means I've gotta mess with him."
Roto's lips curled into a fond, amused grin despite his best attempt at a stern look. "Is that so?"

Strix grumbled, leaning against his dad. "I know. You oughta not be watching me, though. I'm not a baby, and you could be watching Pop's back. That's more important."
Roto's hug tightened at that. "Agree to disagree, sunfly. You're very, very important, to the both of us. He's happy that I'm here, watching over you."
Strix huffed at that, but gave a content chirp at the tightened hug despite himself. "I can take care of myself, even if we didn't have Swiftpaw to watch me back instead."
Roto hummed reassuringly. "That doesn't mean you should have to, sweetheart. We're supposed to protect you, and that's exactly what we're going to do, alright?"
Strix huffed, but nodded. "Ok, papa."
Roto relaxed in relief. He knew this particular war wasn't won just yet, but at least he won the battle. He hummed thoughtfully, getting an idea. "How about I tell you about when him and me first met? Sound fun?"
He grinned as Strix perked up, then tried to hide it with a disinterested shrug. "If you wanna."
Roto nodded and walked over to the bed, curling up on it and holding an arm up. "I do, as a matter of fact. C'mere, firefly."
He smiled as Strix accepted the invitation and curled up against him. Tugging the boy closer, he shared a fond, knowing nod with Swiftpaw as the Wyldhound curled around Strix's free side before starting his story. "Now, this was back during the war in my homeland, when I was living in the main Rebel Camp. I was just a little older than you, and like a certain little sunfly very sure I was old enough and big enough to be responsible for not just myself, but in helping the adults with every little scrap of skill I had."
He booped Strix's nose, grinning as the boy wrinkled it and shot him a pout. Chuckling, he continued, his voice growing fond as he remembered all the rebels that looked out for him. "Thankfully, the adults were less convinced, and had managed to get me into a habit of wandering around to do light work for my little workshop. Talking with various rebels to see if I was doing a good job, seeing what needed crafting, so on so forth. On one of these walkabout days I came across a brave young archer. Alright lets get into it.
But before we do, I need to explain exactly what it means for a company to be "shorted" and as a response, be "short squeezed"
Ill explain in monkey speak first:
Imagine a store has a supply of 100 bananas for sale at 1.00 per banana.
Now, a certain animal (lets call this animal a bear) thinks that the cost per banana will drop from 1.00 dollar to 0.50 cents. They go to the store and they borrow 50 bananas promising to return them. The bear, now in debt to the store, sells those bananas at 1.00 each and collects 50 dollars. Then, the market price for a banana drops to 0.50, they go and buy back the 50 bananas (now at 0.50 cents) paying 25 dollars, then return them back to the person they bought them from. This relieves the bears from their debts and they pocket 25 dollars in the process.
This is the process of shorting a company. They will "Borrow" or "Short" a companies shares when they think it will drop. They sell those shares. The market price drops. Then they buy them back at a low price. Then return them to who they borrowed from and make some serious money.
Typically, this is done to companies who are not looking like they will have very much growth (i.e., GameStop in an increasingly electronic world. Or FFIE in a world where Chinese electric cars are being restricted from sales in the USA for foreign policy reasons.)
Now, a short squeeze happens when another animal (lets say a bull (or maybe an ape would actually be better)) decides that they don't really want the price of bananas to drop because they really really really really like bananas. So the ape goes to the store and buys all the available bananas as well as buying them from the bears. Now, since there's no more available, and bananas are in demand, the price rises up to 1.50, instead of dropping.
Now, the bears are in a dilemma. They need to return the bananas to the person they bought them from. If they don't, the person they borrowed from is going to start charging them late fees for every day that they don't return the bananas.
As you can imagine, the bears would be SUPER angry about this, and fight the apes tooth and nail to try to get them to sell. They will tell everyone (via the media) that the apes are bad. They will publish false information about the cost of bananas. They will try to borrow bananas from other people to make it seem like bananas arent worth anything.
BUT, if the apes hold onto their sweet, juicy bananas, then the bears cant get find any to buy even if they wanted to. So the apes eventually will say "I will give you my bananas back for a premium cost of 10 dollars. Now, the apes who bought all the bananas for 100 dollars will sell them back to get 1000 dollars instead.
Essentially, the apes can make the price whatever they want, because the bears are paying a late fee for every day that they don't return the original bananas. At some point, the late fee will become so expensive that they will pay whatever it takes to get the bananas back.
This is known as a short squeeze. And the apes can potentially make lots of money on those bananas.
Applying this to the market, if FFIE is being shorted, and you all decide you want to squeeze them. Then hold, your shares, the shorter will pay whatever it takes to get those shares returned.
Now, there are a few things that are required to make a short squeeze happen:

1. There needs to be an entity (hedge funds) who shorted the stocks, betting the price would decline. Very simple to find out as it is public information.
   
2. There needs to be an entity (You mad lads) who wants to make money off their shorts (this is a bit harder as y'all get scared of the fight back by them and sell out).
   
3. Time investment to make the hedge funds sweat about losing money on the shares they borrowed.
   

PHEW! That was tough. You did good though, Now, you are all experts on the idea behind a short squeeze.
Lets see if FFIE has the requirements needed to begin a short squeeze:

1. The shorts. On April 30th, and in my Last Post , I showed an image that the company FFIE was absolutely being shorted. In fact, 98% of the total shares of the company were being shorted. So yes, FFIE met requirement number 1.

Now, there has been ALOT of debate regarding the current number of shorts. And I'll help resolve WHY this debate has been ongoing. I believe that much of this debate lies in the differences between the terms "short volume" and "Short interest"
Many have been screaming that the short interest of a company is only posted every 2 weeks. Which is absolutely true.
Others have been posting that the shorted volume of FFIE is at VERY high numbers. Which is also true.
For those that don't understand the market, the short interest and short volume are interchangable. That is why so many of you have been so confused.
Im here to tell you, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
There are very clear differences between the two numbers and their reliability, in terms of a squeeze is extremely different. Ill try to make it simple for you and put your questions and confusions to bed.
STRAP IN! THIS IS TOTALLY NOT GOING TO BE BORING!
Official definition online for short interest from the fintel website:
"collected by FINRA from brokers twice a month and distributed by the stock exchanges. So, twice a month all the brokedealers add up all the short positions held in all of their custodial accounts — that means yours, mine, and all the hedge funds — and send the totals to FINRA."

What the heck does this mean? Ape speak please?
The short Interest is the number of shares shorted by all of the different hedge funds. It is a comprehensive list of all the numbers of the total number of short shares.
However, it only represents a snapshot in time. Typically, it is a snapshot in time from the day that it is required to be reported. The most recent numbers came on today (5/24).
In general, this number can be manipulated. Think of it like taking a picture. Because that number is based on a snapshot in time, and hedge funds know when the picture will be taken, they can hide the number of shorted shares during the picture, and then once the camera takes its picture, they go back to normal. It is a way that the bears can lie about the fact that they borrowed shares.

the accumulated trades published to the consolidated tape. Every trade that is made is published in real time to the tape. At the end of the trading day, every trading venue publishes their volume numbers, which includes both Short Volume and Total Volume.
Jesus. That was a difficult read. Are you still awake?
Okay again. Super easy to understand. Right? Right? Yeah not so much. I hate the technical terminology used but I guess I can explain.
The short VOLUME is is a more accurate measure of how a particular stock is being shorted. I think of it more like a video tape. It is a collection of all shorting trades made, and is posted every day. It is a lot of information to sort through, but the numbers speak VOLUMES to the efficiency of a possible squeeze (haha volume. Get it?)
In the end, if the VOLUME of shorted shares remains high, then the company is relying on the price of the stock to decline, or trying to hold out when a squeeze is happening in the hopes that the price of the shares drop again. This is the number we care about. This number is COMPREHENSIVE of all shorted stocks (including off-exchange/darkpool numbers and retail shorts)

Here is another explanation in terms a dumb ape would understand:
Okay so using the previous "APE vs BEAR banana in supermarket example"
Lets start where the Apes have purchased all the bananas and we think the bears have shorted banana sales.
So, lets imagine that the laws require that the Bears post publicly exactly how many bananas they borrowed from the lender. They are required to post this information every 2 weeks. They know they have to post soon. Therefore, to scare the apes into thinking they aren't actually squeezing, they take their picture of their borrowed bananas and post it. In the picture (since they had time to organize their efforts) it shows that they, in fact, didn't borrow any bananas. Now the apes would be panicked right? They have all these bananas for no reason. But a SMART ape would understand that they could use that photo to manipulate us. They obviously just quickly hid the fact that they borrowed bananas for the picture. The bears used the required "short interest picture" to scare you all into thinking your bananas were worthless, and encourage you to sell them.
Instead, its better to look at the security footage of the bears hiding their borrowed banana receipts. We'd be able to catch them red handed! Thus, we look at the "short volume" of bananas. The problem is, each bear individually posts their volume every day, and doesn't compile it in one clear video for us. Why would they? The more we know, the more we can charge for our bananas.
Plus, there are also dozens (if not hundreds) of bears all posting, accurate, but misleading, numbers. They make a united effort to throw as many confusing, and non-relevant videos into the mix to divert our attention.
This is EXACTLY what you have seen posted all week. Various people posting different volume numbers. And while each volume number they posted is accurate, they are only a partial truth.

Well, with the report of the "snapshot" that is released every 2 weeks, we also get another bit of information. The total number of exchanged shorts "off exchange."
Are you still following? This is where it gets even more confusing.
With the report, FINTEL also publishes a number known as the "off exchange short volume"

This number is the most accurate number to describe how many shares of a stock are currently being shorted. As we learned above, the "short interest" isn't reliable as the bears can hide their numbers during the picture.
However, at some point, some smart person (probably being super angry at how the bears could lie using short interest pictures) made a law that requires them disclose the number of currently exchanged "off market/dark pool" exchanges that were made.
An off market exchange is what happens when a bear decides to trade with another bear out of the public eye.
Why would they do this?
Back to our "ape speak" example
Okay so the bears know that they have their upcoming (2-week) picture that gets released. They want to make it seem like they don't have any owed bananas.
What do they do? How can they just lie for a picture?
The answer is in off market exchanges. You see, the bears found out that they can trade their shorts WITH EACHOTHER.
So for the picture, Mr. Black bear gives all his receipts to the polar bear. Then, when the Mr. Polar bear takes his photo, he gives them to Mr. Black bear (since he already took his photo).
These off market exchanges tend to SKYROCKET during a few times. One of which, is when hedge funds try to hide how much of an investment they have in their shorted shares.
So, over the next few days, we will see many people posting "OMG THEY ARENT EVEN SHORTING BECAUSE THE SHORT INTEREST IS DOWN FROM LAST POST"
Well, of course its lower. The last posted information, the hedge funds didn't know they would be squeezed. Therefore, they didn't feel the need to hide the short interest. Now, they need to hide it to scare you. So they create fear by lowering that number. But when that short interest number goes down, and off exchange goes up, it means they are still holding shorts, but just covering it up for their short interest reports.
Okay, so lets look at these numbers and see what it means for squeezers.
LONG STORY SHORT, THEY HAVE NOT NOT RETURNED THEIR SHORTS. They are simply trying to manipulate us into believing that they did.
In fact, they went from 36 million shorts UP to 64 million shorts (likely a bit less as this number includes transfers of shorts both ways).
But still, they have hope. Let's strip it away from them and make it KNOWN that they are manipulating. Time to HOLD and TIME TO BUY.
When you hold/buy shares, then the second requirement and third requirement for the squeeze are in our hands entirely.
Now, I know there's alot more to say, but I know people are waiting for my post so Im going to cut it short here. Ill make another post this weekend regarding the specific trading patterns we saw on the day-to-day that imply that the bears were trying to make us panic sell our shares.

I’m finally leaving teaching after 12 years in special education (mostly in a high school setting- EBD licensure). There are a lot of mixed feelings, as I’m going to miss the students and genuinely enjoyed the instruction piece. But between the poor pay, lack of support from admin, trash insurance, unreasonable parents, and far more students on my caseload than I could manage, I needed to get out. It’s really impacting my health, and in my early 30s I want to be able to actually make progress on my goals in life (which are admittedly as simple as traveling and maybe someday owning a house). All of that to say that I’m unsure where to go next.
I really just started looking this week, and have a solid 3-5 months to job hunt without worries. I see some avenues into DEI, and more broadly HR, positions. That said, what paths have others taken? With the massive layoffs hitting the tech sector, and my lack of experience there, I don’t think that’s the way to go. Any insight/ideas are appreciated. I’m not looking to necessarily find a career that I’ll want to have forever, but somewhere to land, save, and address my health needs for a while.
