3 months ago - Used Uber a fair bit in college but here's my horror story. Went out to the bar one night, had a few drinks with my friends, wasn't intoxicated, just having a good time. I started to feel a little unwell, so I decided to call it a night at like 12:45, aiming to be home at 1:00. Order the Uber, guy gets there, really nice guy, driving a Lexus. I jump in, we get going. We're talking and shooting the breeze, when this idiot in a buick cuts us off. The driver instinctively gives the other car the bird, then immediately apologizes to me for being unprofessional. What I haven't mentioned about the driver is this: He's 6'7, probably about 200 pounds, muscle, bushy beard, tattoos from his neck down, full sleeves, a giant tattoo of an AK-47 on the back of his neck. Anyway, he apologizes to me, I say it's cool, then the guy in the buick starts brake-checking us, he does it like six times. We get up next to this guy at the next intersection, my driver rolls the window down and asks the dude what the issue is. The guy in the other car isn't alone, he's got two other guys with him, they're all scrawny guys, maybe early 20s. The clearly see the driver in my car and don't care how big or tough he looks. They tell him to pull over and get out. I automatically tell the driver I've got his back (I'm not a big dude, by the way, I'm also very scrawny, I can fight but I'll make no claims of being good at it). Driver says "Don't worry, I've got this." We pull over. The buick guys get out, they're taunting the driver, taunting me, driver gets out, and this is where shit gets nuts. At light speed, the driver materializes a can of coca cola from his back pocket, un-opened and proceeds to hurl it through time and space so hard and fast that it nails the driver of the car directly in the face, knocks him clean out, the other guy squares up, the third guy immediately sets to helping his friend up off the ground, but he isn't moving. Within maybe a second, the guy who's squaring up with my driver is on the ground, he's out cold too. From the time it took for buddy to square up and make a move, I was looking at the guy on the ground knocked out, shit happened so fast that I didn't even have an opportunity to see what the driver did. The driver tells both guys not to get up, then he promptly reaches into the buick, swipes the keys from the ignition, throws them into a bank parking lot, and shuts the door so hard that the driver's seat window literally smashes into a thousand fucking pieces. This whole event has maybe taken thirty seconds. My driver jumps back into the car, starts apologizing and offering me a free ride. I just told him no and gave him a big tip when I got home (the ride cost me like 17 bucks, i gave him a thirty dollar tip). I've worked security for a few years now and have seen some really crazy stuff (like a guy with a sword a few nights ago) but have never seen anything quite so fantastic. I call it a horror story because of the unexpected and extreme violence, but man, it was a sight to see.
