The MCU makes its triumphant return to Topps Marvel Collect, indicating Topps hasn't 'lost their license' after all. This collection is themed on the recent Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+ streaming. There are a total of four variant sets and 95 total cards to collect, which will be in the store for three weeks. As usual for the Saturday collections, I'll break them down by variants:
Animated Frames (Uncommon, Rare): Um... okay. Here we have screenshots from the animated portions of the special. Every card looks exactly alike and absolutely nothing is happening in any of the panels, making them about as interesting as Wednesday night in a nursing home. Plus they're orientated in the landscape position, which rarely has appeal.
Die-Cuts (Rare): I hate die-cuts almost as much as I hate logos, slogans, and emblems. I could make more interesting cards with Windows PowerPoint.
Final Frames (Super Rare, Epic): These are the screen caps from the show... the live-action ones, with more landscapes and horrible holiday-themed frames. But it's MCU and Kevin Bacon is the award card, which is somehow fitting following my recent Guardians review. (Is someone at Topps reading this stuff?)
Character Art (Super Rare, Epic): I honestly have no idea what Topps was thinking here. Either they really don't give a shit, or these were made during their office Christmas office party while everyone was drunk on spiked eggnog.
Coin Saver ** Coin Spender ** Diamond Spender
What we have here is a whole lotta low-tier crap, precariously close to the garbage tier. I won't buy a single pack of this with either coins or diamonds, as I don't want to encourage Topps and make them think these type of releases are okay. They're not.
Most of these cards should be Commons and Uncommons, they are not worth polluting the higher rarity tiers.

As predicted by the ever-knowledgeable NEMO_GRIFF (a.k.a. NEMOGRIFFEN) the last drop of the year is 2022's Heroines collection. This is a big collection with four variant sets and a whole lotta ladies. They will be in the store for three weeks. Topps is experimenting with pack odds/costs quite a bit on this collection so you'll need to pay attention to the limit on coin packs if you are chasing this with free currency. That being said, let's take a look at what Topps has to offer this famed collection in 2022:
Hall of Heroines (Super Rare, Epic): Gorgeous frames and artwork make these variants really pop. There's a couple of duds in here like Jean Grey and Photon, but they're not awful. Topps makes up for it with great representations of She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Rogue, Binary, Ghost Spider, and Psylocke. Ironheart looks as sharp as possible and Sif looks great too. The Gamora award is phenomenal. Just a great set overall.
A-Force Covers (Rare): No border frames, solid artwork, and lots of different appearances by lots of different women. Yeah, this is a sharp set too. The award will be the nicest prize, though perhaps I'm a bit biased with such a breathtaking green beauty taking front and center. The only problem with these will be their high counts.
Heroines Portraits (Super Rare, Epic): These look like the leftovers from Ty Romsa's recent Artist Spotlight collection. That's not a bad thing, unless you don't like Ty Romsa. These are more of the second-tier ladies in terms of popularity, but don't sleep on characters like Jubilee and Kitty Pryde - they certainly have their fans.
Premier (Rare, Epic motion): This is probably my least favorite set in terms of character selection, presentation, and artwork. The frame/background design and motion on the Epics make them look like a cheap knock-off of last year's Heroines cards. The artwork is a bit too pedestrian, with only Storm, Ms. Marvel, and Kate Bishop standing-out to me (and maybe Medusa). But Polaris (a re-used panel), America(n) Chavez, Rachel Summers, Wasp, and Abigail Brand all look rather bland. However, Scarlet Witch looks great on the award and collectors are going to knock themselves out trying to get that one.
Coin Saver ** Coin Spender ** Diamond Spender
This is a top-tier collection, though it's also top-loaded. The two Rare sets are just okay and they're going to have some seriously high counts by the time these leave the store, rendering them almost valueless in trades. But the SRs and Epics are where this collection really shines and if you want to complete all of the SRs (much less the Epics) it's probably going to require diamonds. Get as much as you can with coins first before those packs sell out.
Regardless of where the counts go for SRs and Epics, past Heroines collections have shown the cards will trade well long after sell-out. Get some, and get dupes. You won't have any trouble moving them.

Thought about this while watching a set building video of 2022 Topps. I was wondering if anyone has ever put together an entire set of gold cards (or some other parallel style) from any year. I know ‘22 gold cards are a lot harder to find but maybe it was slightly easier back in the day.
Feels like something I want to try and do someday, but guessing it would cost a lotta money.

Samtliga föreningar i Svenska Hockey Ligan och Hockeyallsvenskan år 2019 (SIF-lag) samt 56 föreningar som utses av SIF:en (SIF-lag) har rätt att delta i Svenska Cupen Ishockey, herrar, 2020/2021. Anmälan ska för att vara giltig åtföljas av föreskriven anmälningsavgift och vara SIF tillhanda senast den 30 juni 2020. I det fall SIF genomför kvalificering eller del av kvalificeringstävling till Svenska Cupen Ishockey, herrar, under perioden fr.o.m. den 30 juni t.o.m. den 31 augusti 2019 ska dock anmälan ske snarast efter kvalificeringstävlingens slut, dock senast den 2 september 2019.
Lottning och spelordning
Lagens serietillhörighet 2019 gäller som utgångspunkt för bedömningen enligt förevarande paragraf.
Svenska Hockey Ligan och Hockeyallsvenskans lag är immuna från omgång ett.
I första hand jämförs serienivå, i andra hand erhållna poäng, i tredje hand målskillnad och därefter flest antal gjorda mål, i jämförelse med antalet spelade matcher. Kan högst rankat lag ändå inte fastställas ska mål under ordinarie speltid på bortaplan räknas dubbelt. I sista hand utses högst rankat lag genom lottning.
Spelordning
Omgång 1 Dem 56 föreningar (SIF-lag) som var utsedda av SIF som möter varandra fastställs utifrån geografisk närhet lagen emellan, med beaktande av samtliga deltagande lags geografiska placering. Lag från lägre serienivå ska alltid ha hemmamatch. I match mellan två lag från samma division ska hemmalag utses via fri lottning. Segrande lag går vidare till omgång 2.
Omgång 2 Dem 28 lagen som gick vidare ifrån föregående omgång möter i denna omgång antingen ett Svenska Hockey Ligan eller ett Hockeyallsvenskt lag. Lagen som möter varandra lottas på sättet att de 14 nordligaste SHL/Hockeyallsvenska lagen lottas emot de 14 nordligaste lagen som kvalificerade sig från omgång ett medan dem 14 sydligaste SHL/Hockeyallsvenska lagen möter de 14 sydligaste som kvalificerade sig från omgång 1.
Omgång 3 Vinnarna från omgång 2 delas upp i 6 grupper på 5, där det spelas 4 matcher per lag. Ettan från varje grupp är direktkvalificerad till slutspel medan två utav tvåorna utav de 5 grupperna med bäst målskillnad går också vidare till slutspel. Vid tillfälle att målskillnaden inte kan skiljas åt ska laget med flest bortamål gå vidare, och vid tillfälle att det ej kan skiljas ska det laget högst upp i seriesystemet gå vidare.
Slutspel
Kvartsfinalen Bäst av 1. Topp 4 (alltså dvs. dem 4 med högst poäng) gruppsegrare blir tilldelade hemmamatch. Gruppsegrare utses vid tillfälle att det inte går att skilja på ett eller mera topp 4 lag och ett eller flera botten 4 lag så erhålls det laget som ligger högst upp i seriesystemet hemmamatch.
Semifinal Bäst utav 1. Hemmalagen i semifinalerna utses genom fri lottning. Vinnarna utav semifinalerna blir finalister. ­
Final Bäst utav 1. Hemmalaget i finalen utses av arenakapacitet och är arrangerat av hemmaklubben i samarbete med Svenska Ishockeyförbundet. Hemmalaget ska se till så att arrangemanget ska vara så bra som möjligt för alla på plats, vare sig personal eller publik i samband med Svenska Ishockeyförbundet. Vinnaren utav finalen utses till Svenska Cupmästare inom Ishockey och får plocka hem någon form av pokal.

I’ve been following this sub for a little while now...admiring a lotta cool pulls. I haven’t actively collected since about 2008 or 2009. No real reason...other things just took priority in life.
My goals for getting back into collecting is to keep it relatively simple. It can be intimidating with so many different sets and releases. So I’d like to complete a set or 2 each year if I can...that was always what I enjoyed the most. One of the last sets I did was 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces. It was around 100 cards, not too expensive, neat dynamic of past and present players. I realize that sets come and go and the hobby changes. But are there any similar-ish sets y’all might recommend? Could be NBA or NFL too. I’m not really into the higher end stuff and the classic Topps Series 1 and 2 is a bit too big for what my goals (and available time) are right now.

Sup gents. I got an interesting request from a client for a project they are working on and wanted to get some information on how it's possible to proceed.
They are working on upgrading a 16 camera DVR system that needs to have the following specs:

• Data loss protection
• Retention for a year
• High Definition

I decided to pull out the handy dandy calculator and have a go.
Choosing H.264 1080 (not entirely sure on this but just threw it out there), it says I need 35GB to record for an hour (is that even accurate?). 35 x 24 x 365 - 306,600GB... per camera.
Choosing MPEG-2 6.2Mbps fixed is 2.7 per hour. 23,652GB per camera. more reasonable I guess.
While I'm not entirely sure the format they will be using, the DVR they will use is this

My idea was to use a QNAP with x number of drives/space and have it replicate to another, but 24TB per camera, and 16 cameras, well that's just a whole lotta space - 384TB. I dont think QNAP is the way to go at this point.
Anyone here worked on similar larger projects, or can guide me on what to look forward to and be careful with?
