2024.05.29 02:30 Abay0m1 Music Compelled By Nature...

Hey, everyone! I took a hiatus from solo double bass writing to focus on my first two symphonies and my first string quintet (all of which are on here), and after seeing the eclipse in April, I was so moved that I wrote a piece about it for solo double bass with piano accompaniment (I'm also writing a symphonic work and a song about it - I'll post those here when I finish writing them)! I also got it published today, the link for which is down below. Please enjoy listening to this work as much as I did writing it!

2024.05.29 02:18 gabriursa Struggling to Accept My Primary’s New Partner

I'm a 34(m) dating a 32(f), we've both been dating now for 10 months and I'd say we're both very secure in our polyamorous lifestyle, I've been poly for 9 years and she has for around 12. The first 4 months of our relationship were amazing, complete fireworks and we said from the get go, we wouldn't be primaries cos we wasn't looking for that but it turned out that way and we became quite attached. In this time, I've had two other long term partners, and she also does. We didn't argue a single time during this time and it was all good.
Fast forward 5 months in, a guy re merged in her life as someone from her past who she wasn't allowed to date as her previous partners veto'd him. So they had a very long hiatus but they were only ever FWB back then. Knowing this, I wanted to help her heal so I helped facilitate a game night including his fiance and him to help her get him back in her life. Fast forward to present day, we argue constantly when it comes to her dates with him. I had set quite clear boundaries that I like to be informed of when their dates would be and if he planned to stay at hers. I'm solo poly so trust and transparency is key for me, as is the intention of dating. She is very much polycule, everyone dates everyone and we all sit around the kitchen table type. Repeatedly she fails to tell me of him staying until the 11th hour, and this has caused me to distrust her as she seems to keep things hidden when it comes to this person specifically vs her previous other partners, she was very open and communicative about them. We also argued about use of protection as we are fluid bonded and I made it a clear rule that if she didn't use protection with not just him, but anyone, that would be a serious violation of our trust and it would be over but she seemed very defensive about this whereas it never felt like an issue before.
What I want to ask is, how do I get over this hump of disliking him and what it's doing to our relationship? It feels like she wants him in her life no matter what happens and our relationship is on the rocks so I would like some advice on how I can retune my mindset around this to help ease my disdain of this person and see an opportunity to grow and change for the better as I recognise it's a bad behaviour in myself cos it causes her anxiety when she goes on a date with this person.

2024.05.29 01:36 un-pamplemousse i want my life back

i’m 24F and this time last year i was traveling europe, doing 20k+ steps a day seeing amazing sights solo-traveling while working part time in France. i returned to the states in june last year and ever since then i’ve had increasing unexplained pain. i thought it was from my change in exercise, lifestyle, etc. after the move but everything i tried didn’t seem to help. in november, i got bloodwork done and my iron was extremely low. my dr thought my muscle + nerve pain could be related to the low iron. well, i’ve had 3 iron infusions now and it’s still low, but no longer critical. with no change in symptoms. they’re probably even worse. i have an endoscopy scheduled in a few weeks to check for an ulcer, but i just recently got into the hematologist (who kept rescheduling me. WHY does everything take so long?!) and he said he doesn’t think the low iron and pain are related at all. i’ve gone from a fairly active lifestyle to limping to and from bed. i currently have a cold and can’t even sneeze or cough without excruciating back pain. i can’t laugh anymore. i can hardly sleep. i am feeling so discouraged and it feels like i’m grieving the life i used to have. i’ve been to urgent care several times this year, my family doctor several times, the ER twice, a rheumatologist, GI, hematologist, had some x-rays taken, and upcoming i have a sleep study. no one can tell me anything concrete, i just keep getting passed around dr to dr. the rheumatologist and hematologist both said they don’t see anything abnormal other than the iron, and that my inflammatory markers are really high. so they said i should check back in a few months. hematology was who suggested looking into fibromyalgia, though, which i had already been suspecting. but i don’t even know. my family dr started me on 300mg gabapentin about 4-5 weeks ago and i haven’t noticed a single difference. and with the possibility of an ulcer, i can’t take any steroid or anti inflammatory. i just don’t know what to do anymore but i don’t want to keep “living” like this, if that’s what you can even call it. i had big plans this summer to travel, go to grad school, and everything has been put on hold. i’m just so frustrated and depressed. if anyone has any advice or just sympathy it would be much appreciated.

2024.05.29 00:44 CarthagePlate_210 How would the show's characters each dance for an audience?

Imagine each of the Digital Circus main characters (shown over the first two episodes) would be dancing for an audience. They would have to dance alone, but they could pick the music and dance routine. What do you think they would choose?
My initial thoughts/concepts for different characters are below. Any feedback and additional ideas given are appreciated.
JAX: R&B, Rap, or House/Trance music (censored, of course). Breakdancing routine, spins specifically (to show off his cool moves).
POMNI: Alternative Rock or Modern Pop music. "Purposefully stumbling" dance routine (falls or trips for laughs, but still in time with the music) combined with some Popping and Locking dance moves.
KINGER: Classical or awe-inspiring Orchestral music. Waltz or Tango dance routine, done with grace.
GANGLE: Lo-Fi or New Age music (happy stuff). Slow, bellydancing-like routine (with ribbon body), lots of twirling.
RAGATHA: South American "Samba" or South United States "Country" music. Tango, Hoedown, or "cheer girl" routine, with some gentle sashaying of her skirts.
ZOOBLE: Heavy Metal or "Metalstep" (Metal plus Dubstep) music. Contortion/body horror dance routine, with head-juggling and body twisting.
BUBBLE: Bass-boosted Dubstep or "Rave" music. Bobbing and spinning in midair for a dance routine (he's just a bubble, I think his options for dancing are limited)
CAINE: Jazz, Barbershop Acapella, or bombastic Orchestral music. Tapdancing, cartwheeling, and other "acrobatics" for a dance routine (all without losing his hat or baton)
KAUFMO: Fast-paced Acoustic Guitar and Brass instrument solos for music. "Mime" dance routine (done for laughs).
GUMMIGOO: Slow Country music, preferably with Harmonicas and Banjoes. "Stomp-and-clap" dance routine to lead the audience along with the tune.

2024.05.29 00:33 Epione2 How to build genuine deep connections (25F UK with no close friendships anymore)

I've been stuck in a rut for the best part of 10 months, going round in circles and not knowing what to do so I'd really love some advice kind people of reddit.
For the better part of 10 years I guess, I have struggled to maintain deep strong connections with others. Well, I have managed to have a few strong relationships during university but 3 of my closest friends have left my life without warning. I also ended my 3 1/2 year relationship a few months ago with my ex which was probably the healthiest and strongest connection I have had with anyone, making it hurt even more to end it.
I'm now at the age where people have their established friends from home/school/uni... and I am constantly back at square one. I have had the odd person who has reached out over the years but when I try to reconnect, conversation usually fizzles out as I have nothing else to say.
The majority of my friends are now my colleagues, and they are amazing but I always feel like they have whole fulfilled lives- their friends at work are just a nice benefit, they have their proper fleshed out friendships elsewhere, whereas they are all that I have :/ It's the case of not wanting to be clingy/desperate and scare them off in these new friendships.
I did suffer from childhood emotional neglect so I probably haven't socialised very well- I was that person friendly with lot of people but not in the group chats, easily forgotten.
I feel like I have so much love to give and nowhere to put it... I believe I'm actually quite extroverted and I love listening to others and their lives, I believe life is very beautiful. Maybe I do too much listening and not enough talking? Not funny enough, not engaging enough, not a good storyteller, dont reach out enough? Do I not share enough about memes/hobbies/TV shows... I'd love to have someone observe me in a social setting and give me some constructive feedback. I can't tell if I'm bad at socialising or just haven't met my people.
I've tried to develop myself and reconnect with my hobbies over the last year. I play the piano and try to draw in my free time. I go to salsa classes, attend a book club, and run a gaming group.. I have also taken myself on 2 solo holidays over the last year!! Again I don't necessarily have social anxiety nor am I scared to try new things, I just cant deepen any of these connections. I am on bumble bff but wanted to take a break from it to figure this whole friendship thing out before I go back on it. Do I hope for that instantaneous spark where you click and are on the same wavelength? Or do I give it time to develop?
TLDR: How do I build and maintain friendships better? Any good strategies for meeting your people?

2024.05.29 00:24 owenturnbull Lee hon gi and Jung Yong-hwa

I feel like there's no appreciation for how good their voices are. Lee is from ft island and jung is from CNBlue for people who don't know. And I feel like they are underappreciated. Their solo stuff are fantastic. Their voices are fantastic. They are easily in my top 5 male kpop vocals. They deserved so much for love for their vocals, because they are both so talented but they don't get that BC they are from a band. And Ngl bands don't get as much love as K-pop groups but their voices are absolutely amazing and I just wanted to make this post to talk about their voices.
If you are curious about their voices and vocals listen to their solo stuff please. Because they are absolutely amazing and they deserve all the love for their vocals. Along side superjunior D&E.Ft island and CNBlue got me into K-pop and they don't get talked about enough Mainly BC they have been actived from 2007 for ft island and 2009 for CNBlue so they are older k band. But their newest releases still slap. I just wanted to rant about them BC they deserve appreciation for their vocals.

2024.05.29 00:14 Exhaustedfan23 Amazing Thrawns name wasn't written once in Tatooine Ghost

Thrawn was so amazingly handled in Tatooine Ghost. He was the primary antagonist of the book, but his name is never once written in the book. Yet his presence is so heavy in the story and just as scary. He even physically shows up and locks eyes with the Solos at one point. Pretty good Denning, pretty good.

2024.05.28 23:50 NoonPod Rimuru Subordinates Ranked as of S3 (Post-Harvest Festival)

  1. Diablo - Nothing needs to be said about him being number 1, it took half of demon lord rimuru’s magicules just to name him and plus a lot of ppl forget he undid Shions “Master Chef” Most experienced subordinate rimuru has currently.
  2. Shion - Master Chef is Broken nothing else needs to be said
  3. Shuna - This is going to be controversial but yes she’s number 3. She was able to detect Adalmans forces when hakurou and souei couldn’t shows she has greater magic detection. She has two amazing unique skills that allows her to overwrite other people’s magic and make her own magic and she has law manipulation. Can literally solo adalmann by herself
  4. Benimaru - he is probably stronger than Shuna and shion in terms of raw strength or magicules but he as of this point in the show can’t even handle disintegration and the above 3 can so he he falls to 4 plus he isn’t so far ahead of the others at this point to make this negligible.
  5. Souei- For me he is stronger than hakurou but weaker than the rest oni
  6. Hakurou - He’s still an oni
  7. Geld - He actually has a lot of potential I really think if the show game him more love he would be higher
  8. Ranga - Nothing really needs to be said she still has some deadly offensive skills that pack a punch
  9. Gabiru - Even though he lost to gobta before being named he was and still is stronger than him
  10. Gobta - Love Gobta and he is the strongest goblin but he doesn’t hold a candle to the rest.

2024.05.28 23:38 Ch4rlie_G Should you buy a Sea-Doo Spark? My comprehensive guide.

Now that I have owned my two sparks (2up 90HP with IBR and 2UP Trixx) for a while and put some hours into them, I want to address most of the commonly asked questions about Sparks in just one post. I know there are YouTube videos, but here is my Google-able, text format version of "Should you buy a Spark?"
This is a long post, so here is a ChatGPT-style tl;dr...
Plus side: Sparks are the cheapest way to get a modern 4-stroke PWC that is reliable. Sparks are also half the weight of other PWCs. This makes them extremely nimble and fun, with a side benefit of fuel economy that is 2x-10x better than other PWCs.
Minus Side: Sparks have very little storage, which makes them difficult if you have long outings. Their lightweight comes with many penalties: small seats, more difficulty towing riders, reduced stability, and much harsher ride than other PWCs. Sparks also have a top speed of only 48MPH which may or may not be a negative for you.
People buy sparks for a few reasons:
  1. They are cheap
  2. They have the lowest fuel consumption of any ski on the market (by a wide margin)
    1. A spark burns 2.4 GPH (3.3 hours of riding) at full speed, the closest competitor is the Yamaha EX at 7.9 GPH (1.7 Hours of Riding). And as you go up in size and horsepower this gets worse. Stats are from JetDrift.com but unfortunately jetdrift only tested the flagship models at best cruising speed instead of full speed which could make a huge difference.
    2. Tidbit: A Sea-Doo 300HP RXT will burn 25GPH at 70MPH!
  3. They want something fun to throw around and don't ride long distances.
    1. The largest 3-up Spark weighs only 439 lbs Dry, with the 2-up about 405 lbs. They are incredibly agile and easy to throw around. They will launch into the air in even small waves if you command them to. The next step in the Sea-doo Line is the GTI 170 at a whopping 739 lbs dry. Bigger skis with bigger engines mean reduced fuel economy, so they carry more fuel; making the wet weight of any "non-Spark" PWC almost double the weight of a Spark. This will adversely affect handling no matter what a Redditor tells you.
    2. Example: My neighbors at the lake all have supercharged Sea-Doos and Yamahas, we often switch back and forth and try each other's PWCs. Kids and young adults always come to my place to borrow my sparks unless towing. The older adults tend towards the fast, stable, and comfy cruisers. 30 and 40-somethings choose based on what they are in the mood for.
    3. IMO the spark is the most fun you can have on the water and I've ridden most of the PWCs out there. But not everyone is riding just for fun. There are times I will grab a neighbor's speed demon or three-seater to tow something, take a long ride, take an older person or kid on a ride, rip it at 70 MPH, or when it's wavy.
  4. They want a ski that feels just like a PWC they rode in the 90s, but with modern-day reliability and no need to add oil and mess with carbs (this was me).
    1. I could have easily afforded top-of-the-line PWCs, but I live on a lake that's only 2,000 acres-ish and wanted something just for fun. I do my cruising on the pontoon or my wakeboard boat.
  5. People like the look of them (granted they are unique looking and not everyone likes it).
  6. They have a vehicle with very low towing capacity.
  7. They want to do wheelies. It seems silly but multiple people have mentioned this as a reason for purchase.
    1. Note that only the Trixx model does wheelies. However, you can upgrade any Spark with IBR (brakes, neutral & reverse) to do wheelies like the Trixx.
Conversely, there are great reasons not to buy a spark:
  1. They use the ski on big water with large waves, or have long distances to travel
  2. They will do a lot of towing of riders (tubes, skis, wakeboards).
    1. They will do it but the stability with 2 or 3 riders is subpar, the lightweight makes it get dragged by the rope and it could use more power for larger riders.
    2. Most people say the 2-up is really a 1-up (and the 2024s are now marketed that way), and the 3-up is a 2-up. Compare the 3-up seat to a 3-seat seadoo or Yamaha. The seat area will be twice as large, and twice as padded on the non-Sparks.
  3. They want a stable ski or are a heavier person.
    1. They get tipper the more you weigh over about 200 pounds. I am 180 lbs and don't find them tippy solo, but toss my 115-pound wife on the back and they get noticeably tippier. If you and a rider are 400 lbs or more, you must actively balance the ski at idle and slower speeds. You will also have to be VERY careful in sharper turns.
    2. Unfortunately, this doesn't improve with the 3-up. The 3-up is the same hull with an extended deck and seat.
  4. They need a lot of storage for long days on the water.
    1. Even with the optional front storage bin Sparks have a hilariously small amount of storage. The only standard storage is a glove box that can only fit a phone, wallet, and keys. Neither option is waterproof, but in laid-back riding, they won't get wet.
    2. Seadoo has a Linq system that can add a small cooler, storage box, fuel, or other items to the back. But only one of those things at a time
  5. They do a lot of DIY work and don't want to take off the top hull to do engine work.
    1. Honestly, this is a real PITA. Knock on wood I have only had to do this once a season to winterize (so far). You can check fluids, top off fluids, and charge and change your battery without taking the hull off, but that's about it. I haven't tried changing plugs with the top on.
    2. Example: one of my skis is slowly losing coolant, it top-offs every month. I am 99% sure it's a leak, but a diagnosis would require splitting the ski. You can split a ski on a lift, but it's better on a trailer, so that's yet another advantage if you keep your ski on a lake with a lift.
  6. Fishing. There isn't space for gear and it's very tippy standing on the back platform.
  7. Speed
    1. A lot of folks want the fastest thing on the water. The Spark being on the low end of PWC top speeds could be seen as an overall negative, possibly even lowering resale value. Note that it's not the slowest PWC out there
  8. The Construction
    1. The plastic+fiberglass material they are made out of can't be buffed and polished like fiberglass can. Sparks are the only model of PWC that uses this type of hull construction.
    2. It's difficult to repair Sparks in comparison to other PWCs. Damaging your hull by hitting a log, rock, dock, or another boat you might have to replace the entire hull.
The common debate. "Is the spark fast enough?" Also some tuning tips.
"Sparks are too slow, you will get bored with it and want to upgrade". Then the response "You can tune it to 120HP super easily".
tl;dr: This is a personal decision with no right answer. How fast is fast enough for you?
  1. You could also easily get bored with only top speed and less maneuverability. Non-Sparks will be harder to spin, slide, wave jump, and wheelie. On small bodies of water, the 48MPH top speed is still pretty fast, and far faster than most boats on inland lakes.
  2. Yes you can easily tune a spark to 110hp on 91+ octane or even more on E85 gas. The 110HP tune is generally considered safe and many people have done it and put plenty of trouble-free hours on their skis. You can buy tuner equipment or mail in your ECU to be flashed.
  3. No tune will make you go 60+ MPH, due to the hull shape the highest HP tune will only get you to 53MPH which is a 5MPH increase over the stock top speed (pretty minimal).
  4. Any tune will make you accelerate MUCH faster, which should be your primary reason for doing it. Add a Solas impeller for even more hole-shot.
  5. If you race away from red lights in your car or like to floor it on the water anytime a boat is beside you, a spark is not for you!
Helpful Spark Tips:
  1. Buy the 90HP IBR model or the Trixx unless you know 100% what you are missing.
    1. 60HP is a huge decrease and IBR is amazing even if you don't think you will use it much. The IBR option has brakes and includes variable trim, which helps with a rider or in chop.
    2. If you have a 60HP model you can flash the ECU to 90hp, there are no actual engine differences. You can't easily add IBR to a non-IBR ski though.
  2. If you are trailering and don't have a place on a body of water a Spark likely isn't the right choice based on storage space alone. The exception would be if you had Linq storage installed
    1. Even if you are fine with the rough ride in exchange for giggles, the lack of storage might limit you.
    2. If I am going out on a body of water supported only by what is in my ski and my car I would still want a cooler for food and hydration, basic tools, a phone charger, a good first aid kit, an anchor or sand stake, sunscreen, a hoodie/raincoat, plus my wallet and keys at the very least.
  3. The Spark does have an optional emergency kit that tucks away in a waterproof container in the hull (behind the kneepad). It's very cheap and recommended.
  4. You can convert any IBR-equipped spark to a Trixx by installing "Extended VTS"
    1. You can buy the Trixx parts directly from Seadoo and toss them on any IBR spark to wheelie. I did that with my regular 90HP 2-up and it's not overly expensive
    2. If you want to do wheelies, but don't want the rest of the stuff you can do that too. Trixx handlebars, handlebar wiring harness and footpads would run you an extra $550 last I checked, but you don't need them to wheelie. I did it on the regular Spark I have and I like it. It stops the kids from fighting over the Trixx. I also like the understated Styling more than the Trixx styling.
  5. Get the front storage bin, you will thank me later. It's an easy DIY to add as well if you buy used.
  6. If you are on the fence, ride one!
    1. If your dealer doesn't do test rides, drive to another one. If you are considering used, ask the seller if you can take a test ride. Tell them you are on the fence, but if you don't buy it you will give them $50 or $100 for their trouble. They might take you up on it.
  7. *** IMPORTANT WARNING ABOUT BUYING USED **\*
    1. Sparks built from 2014 to the middle of 2016 had their crankshafts and driveshafts as one piece. If you get a failure somewhere amongst those parts, you need to rebuild the entire engine.
    2. Unless you are getting an absolute steal I would search 2017 or newer. The small increase in price is worth some peace of mind that if something fails in the driveline, you can fix the driveline without replacing the whole motor.
    3. I have no idea how you would check the build date of a 2016 Spark.
For those who read this far, what did I miss or get wrong? Has anyone gone to or from a Spark from another PWC? If so, let us know how it went.

2024.05.28 23:15 Olives_And_Cheese My grandmother deserves an honour name. But I hate her name.

My grandfather already has one as a direct first-name homage in his great-nephew. My grandmother was a really amazing lady; she was a working mother in the days when that was much rarer despite her husband being a provider, she was an amazing pianist (piano teacher), she brought up my mother and my aunt, and largely myself and my sister.
But even my grandmother herself didn't like her name: Doreen. I have considered Dora, Rina, Reenie, Dorie. None of them appeal to me and do not match her vibe in the slightest. She was quite a posh, traditional sort of lady who liked her pearls and her china tea sets. She liked to pretend she was Southern English (the posher part) rather than Northern.
I'm very very early days pregnant so I don't know if it'll be a boy or a girl. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to modernise Doreen? Or another idea to honour a woman who deserves an honour name?

The thing is about Suno AI is that I can get an organic feel that I could not with MIDI. Previously, if I had an idea and wanted that organic sound, I would have to either record it with an actual instrument, which limits me to the instruments I have and can play: guitar (acoustic & electric), bass, drums, uke, mandolin, and piano.
I’ll admit I’m a bit old school and never mastered MIDI and sampling, but I have spent hundreds of hours in my DAW trying to get the sounds I want with MIDI. It’s amazing for some things but not for acoustic organic vibes. Using AI is unlocking things I’ve wanted to do all my life but was never able to. For me, it’s like having access to a whole orchestra and being able to instruct not only the styles but the vibes and tones I want.
I made this whole instrumental album in two days, going for a kinda Buena Vista Social Club meets old Bond film meets old Western film Mexican gunslinger vibe. It sounds way more natural than anything I could do with software instruments.
I’ll link to this album I made in two days, along with my album that I produced myself, which for the most part was played with real instruments and some software instruments.
Album I made with AI in Two days (it doesn’t suck I promise)
https://suno.com/playlist/03cf8f66-7bac-4fc7-a279-73aab7eb0734
Album I self-produced and performed with real instruments and some software (doesn’t suck but I settled in some areas where I didn’t have the instruments to complete my vision and got bored with editing the same parts 100 of times)
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0lBD7ObAjHdB2C4yrGEi0M?si=eJcY4PmhRA-WlY9N9HcDBg&pi=u-NHf7nO-HScOz
I’m not trying to promote my stuff; I could care less, but I am saying as a musician and producer I’m more excited about the AI age of music. I think we get the same cookie-cutter crap from the industry titans. I’ll be happy to see the current paradigm fall. I think performing music is more of a communal thing, and ever since the invention of recording and marketing music as a product, bands and musicians have this idea to make an album and play the same music over and over indefinitely.
I think with the saturation of new ideas coming from people using AI, the paradigm of performing your album over and over again will fizzle. Eventually, the megastars will fade, and the human experience of performing music will again become a communal experience of learning your fellow musicians’ language rather than their songs.
I named my first album that I released in 2012 “Bored With Songs.” This is a sentiment I’ve held for some time.
I think that AI music will be different than the AI art generators where small artists are affected by their ability to make money off things like commissioned work.
Here, the music industry will freak out and fight back and, frankly, have more power than the “art industry.” But the people who will be fighting back are the superstars that turned music from art to crap. I think your average musician, like me, will embrace this new amazing tool, and smaller musicians will make money playing live with a focus on becoming amazing live performers in a wider spectrum rather than beating the dead horse of an album they are not really making any money from.
Anyone agree or disagree? I will say, if you are a musician or producer-songwriter, before making up your mind on whether AI music is going to ruin everything, spend a couple of hours messing with Suno. Once you get a nice mix of ingredients, I think it’s easy to get ideas across. I’ve only been using it for three days and I’m feeling my brain unlocked in new ways. The proof is in the music.
I think people will have to decide for themselves but I think artists should really spend some time messing around with AI music generators before deciding.
Soon you’ll be able to give the AI a melody idea to influence the output. As more time goes on I really think that musicians, even old school ones like me will embrace using AI especially because many old school dudes like me that play instruments have had frustration using software instruments when trying to reproduce acoustic natural sounds. Software instruments are great for many things but definitely lack an organic aspect that I’m now convinced AI can achieve (scroll through the AI album if you don’t believe me, midway through it goes more acoustic vibes)
I just can’t imagine getting some of the organic feel with software instruments there are just so many dimensions to a real instrument…software instruments are like checkers, when a real instrument is like go.
Just like with image generators AI is great at creating a realistic looking photograph the same is true when it applies to music & instruments even though this technology is in its infancy.
Let’s face it most AI music does suck if you scroll through what the Suno features on its page, but that’s why musicians should start using this tool, I’m convinced if you are a musician and especially one that has played in bands or collaborated with other musicians, it’s a process that is familiar, describing the vision you have to someone else then realizing that vision through collaboration.
We are in a new paradigm now and there is no going back, I’d rather see great musicians, producers, songwriters & artists be empowered by this than feel left behind. I hope the superstar hit makers that helped turn music into a commodity do get left behind. There are some real artists at the top but generally if you are trying to appeal to a mass market through ear worms you aren’t focused on making art. I will never release a single on a streaming platform because I want my music to be digested in a larger context than the singles format, though to he competitive and feed the playlist algorithms this is what artists are forced to do. I hate the machine that exists now and I think this new machine of AI will kill what has been killing the art in music for so long and give those focused on the art the ability to create the visions they’ve always had.
In the end most of us make music because we love it, not cause it pays well. Most of us perform because we like the feeling and community it gives us, I don’t think that is going anywhere. Maybe less people will learn instruments because they can think their ideas out, but if that’s the case I think those who perform live will only find their skills more valued.
Thoughts?

2024.05.28 22:44 fastattaq [TOMT][song] from the [70s] with an iconic piano solo or instrumental in the outro

It's a piano instrumental as iconic as Layla but it's not Layla. I wish I had more info to give you. It might be played on classic rock radio stations.

2024.05.28 22:41 love_is_a_superpower Through the lessons of life, the Author of Life is making us more like Himself.

My study today was spent defending Jesus as a law-giver and law-keeper. I learned that Jesus' interpretations of justice and mercy were always in existence. We were not made privy to them because of our human frailty, and our hearts hardened by sin. (Matthew 19:8, Mark 3:1-5, Romans 5:13) Even now, the parables reveal things to us that we were not ready to receive when our Lord walked the earth. (John 16:12-15)
We're made in God's image. Every lesson of life we learn, makes us more like Him. As we grow spiritually, we leave behind logic that no longer seems reasonable. (Psalm 17:15, Matthew 10:25, 1 Corinthians 13:11-13)
Jesus, the prophesied Messiah, came to give us a greater, and more glorious law. (Deuteronomy 18:15, Acts 3:22, Jeremiah 31:31-34) Mankind was not ready to receive, much less live out, the fullness of the law when it was given on Mt. Sinai. Even now, we are being perfected and learning, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 18:15-19, 1 John 2:27) Jesus explained, "I did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill." He also explained how vital it is to keep the whole law. (Matthew 5:17-20)
Throughout the Hebrew scriptures, we are warned not to "turn to the right hand or the left" in keeping the law. (Deuteronomy 5:32, Deuteronomy 17:1, Deuteronomy 28:14, Joshua 23:6) It means not to do more or less than what it says. The way Jesus kept the law (including the Sabbath law) was a correction of the rulers' current practices. Jesus used scripture, creation, and divinely appointed miracles to show people that they were the ones in the wrong.
Most of the laws Jesus explained to us are more easily broken than the law of Moses. We are no longer even allowed to hate, much less murder. (Matthew 5:43-45, Psalm 139:21-22) We can only keep these laws by the power of the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts. God's Holy Spirit makes us people of truth and love.
All Jesus' corrections of the commandments were scorned in his day. Don't you find it strange that Jesus, the Author of Life, is constantly condemned for promoting life and love in the Bible? (Matthew 12:1-24) The Word of God says, "When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord shall take me up." (Psalm 27:10) Jesus, the Word of God made flesh, kept his promises, even on the Sabbath. (John 1:1, John 1:14, Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 40:8) This is the greatest complaint against him among our Jewish brethren today.
In this study, I learned that God has always worked on the Sabbath he gave us. (John 5:17, Mark 2:27) It was God that kept manna from spoiling and breeding worms every Sabbath day in the wilderness. (Exodus 16:24) Jesus used King David, and those who served in the Temple as examples and proof of God's will. We are to serve God and support life every day, including the Sabbath. I finished this study wondering if, "a day with the Lord is as a thousand years," was a literal statement. (2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) I hope that God will be finished making us into our final form when Jesus is ready for his Sabbath rest with his bride. (Psalm 95:6-11, Hebrews 4:1-12, John 3:26-36)
In Jesus' day, it went against Jewish tradition to fast on the Sabbath. Jesus' disciples did not have food to eat. They were not offered a meal by their peers. Instead they accused Jesus' disciples of breaking the Sabbath because they made produce fit to eat by using their hands to take and rub clean the food God gave them. (Deuteronomy 23:25, Matthew 12:1-7)
I believe the only accusation anyone can have against Jesus is over whether or not he really was one with God. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and it cost his life. (Matthew 26:65, Isaiah 53:12)
I spent quite a bit thinking on this passage, where Jesus was nearly stoned to death before his crucifixion. The scene takes place during Hanukkah, which is also a time when fasting and mourning are not lawful... yet hate and envy seem to be allowed? No wonder we needed a Messiah to change our hearts! (Zechariah 12:10, John 19:34-37)
John 10:22-33 NLT
22 It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication, 23 He was in the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon's Colonnade. 24 The people surrounded him and asked, "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." 25 Jesus replied, "I have already told you, and you don't believe me. The proof is the work I do in my Father's name. 26 But you don't believe me because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father's hand. 30 The Father and I are one." 31 Once again the people picked up stones to kill him. 32 Jesus said, "At my Father's direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?" 33 They replied, "We're stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God."
How can anyone save people who can't discern between their friends and their enemies? How could people bent on causing death appreciate the life-supporting logic of Jesus?
Jesus' logic made sense to those who realized that "an eye for an eye" would make the whole world blind. They had learned enough about judgment to see their need for mercy.
It was God's love for mercy that drove him to sacrifice for us, Jews and Gentiles alike. May we show one another mercy, by resisting our judgmental, sinful nature. (Hebrews 12:2-4, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Hosea 6:1-6)
Acts 17:30-31 NLT
30 "God overlooked people's ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31 For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising Him from the dead."
Scripture references:
Jesus' interpretations of justice and mercy were always in existence. We were not made privy to them because of our human frailty, and our hearts hardened by sin.
Matthew 19:8 NLT
8 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended.
Mark 3:1-5 NLT
1 Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. 2 Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus' enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man's hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. 3 Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, "Come and stand in front of everyone." 4 Then he turned to his critics and asked, "Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him. 5 He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, "Hold out your hand." So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!
Romans 5:13 NKJV
(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Even now, the parables reveal things to us that we were not ready to receive when our Lord walked the earth.
John 16:12-15 NLT
12 "There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, 'The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.'
We're made in God's image. Every lesson of life we learn, makes us more like Himself. No person stays a child forever.
Psalm 17:15 NKJV
15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
Matthew 10:25
“It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!
1 Corinthians 13:11-13 NKJV
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Jesus, the prophesied Messiah, came to give us a greater, and more glorious law.
Deuteronomy 18:15 NKJV
15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,
Acts 3:22 NKJV
22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 NKJV
31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-- 32 "not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
Mankind was not ready to receive the complete law when it was given on Mt. Sinai. Even now, we are being perfected and learning, by the guidance of the Holy Spirit
**Deuteronomy 18:15-19 NLT - 15 Moses continued, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. 16 For this is what you yourselves requested of the LORD your God when you were assembled at Mount Sinai. You said, 'Don't let us hear the voice of the LORD our God anymore or see this blazing fire, for we will die.' 17 "Then the LORD said to me, 'What they have said is right. 18 I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him. 19 I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf.
1 John 2:27 NLT - 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true--it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
Jesus explained that He didn't come to destroy God's Laws. He also explained how vital it is to keep them.
Matthew 5:17-20
17 "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to complete them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. 19 So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 "But I warn you--unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
Scripture warns us not to "turn to the right hand or the left" from following God's commands. This means not to do more or less than what it says.
Deuteronomy 5:32 NLT
32 So Moses told the people, "You must be careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God, following his instructions in every detail.
Deuteronomy 17:1 NLT
1 "Never sacrifice sick or defective cattle, sheep, or goats to the LORD your God, for he detests such gifts.
Deuteronomy 28:14 NLT
14 You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.
Joshua 23:6 NLT
6 "So be very careful to follow everything Moses wrote in the Book of Instruction. Do not deviate from it, turning either to the right or to the left.
The way Jesus kept the law was a correction of traditions. Jesus used scripture, creation, and miracles to show people the truth.
Under Jesus' glorified laws, we are no longer even allowed to hate, much less murder. We can only keep these laws by the power of the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts.
Matthew 5:43-44 New Covenant: love your enemies, hate their sin.
43 "You have heard the law that says, 'Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.
Psalm 139:21-22 Old Covenant: hate those who hate God.
21 O LORD, shouldn't I hate those who hate you? Shouldn't I despise those who oppose you? 22 Yes, I hate them with total hatred, for your enemies are my enemies.
Jesus' corrections of the commandments were scorned in his day. The Sabbath corrections were only well-received by those who knew they needed mercy.
Matthew 12:1-24 NLT
1 At about that time Jesus was walking through some grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began breaking off some heads of grain and eating them. 2 But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested, "Look, your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath." 3 Jesus said to them, "Haven't you read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He went into the house of God, and he and his companions broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. 5 And haven't you read in the law of Moses that the priests on duty in the Temple may work on the Sabbath? 6 I tell you, there is one here who is even greater than the Temple! 7 But you would not have condemned my innocent disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.' 8 For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!" 9 Then Jesus went over to their synagogue, 10 where he noticed a man with a deformed hand. The Pharisees asked Jesus, "Does the law permit a person to work by healing on the Sabbath?" (They were hoping he would say yes, so they could bring charges against him.) 11 And he answered, "If you had a sheep that fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn't you work to pull it out? Of course you would. 12 And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath." 13 Then he said to the man, "Hold out your hand." So the man held out his hand, and it was restored, just like the other one! 14 Then the Pharisees called a meeting to plot how to kill Jesus. 15 But Jesus knew what they were planning. So he left that area, and many people followed him. He healed all the sick among them, 16 but he warned them not to reveal who he was. 17 This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning him: 18 "Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 19 He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. 20 He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. 21 And his name will be the hope of all the world." 22 Then a demon-possessed man, who was blind and couldn't speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see. 23 The crowd was amazed and asked, "Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?" 24 But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, "No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons."
Psalm 27:10
10 Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will take care of me.
God keeps his promises, even on the Sabbath.
John 1:1, 14 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Isaiah 40:8 NKJV
8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever."
God has always worked on the Sabbath he gave us.
John 5:17 NKJV
17 But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working."
Mark 2:27 NKJV
27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
Exodus 16:24 NKJV
24 So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.
The rulers of Jesus' day made Sabbath laws that conflicted for the poor. They falsely accused Jesus' followers of harvesting on the Sabbath when they legally took what God provided.
Deuteronomy 23:25 NKJV
25 "When you come into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not use a sickle on your neighbor's standing grain.
Matthew 12:1-7 NKJV
1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!" 3 But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 "how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5 "Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 "Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. 7 "But if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless.
Some people say Jesus deserved to die for breaking the law. I know that Jesus spoke the truth of who he was, and paid for it with his life.
Matthew 26:62-65 NKJV
62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?" 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" 64 Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!
Isaiah 53:12 NKJV - 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

Zechariah 12:10 NKJV
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.
John 19:34-37 NKJV
34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. 36 For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, "Not one of His bones shall be broken." 37 And again another Scripture says, "They shall look on Him whom they pierced."
Jesus' logic made sense to those who had seen enough judgment to realize their need for mercy.
God's love drove him to sacrifice for us, Jews and Gentiles alike. May we show one another mercy, by resisting our judgmental, sinful nature.
Hebrews 12:2-4 NKJV
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Hosea 6:1-6 NKJV
1 Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. 2 After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight. 3 Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth. 4 "O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your faithfulness is like a morning cloud, And like the early dew it goes away. 5 Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth; And your judgments are like light that goes forth. 6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
May God's truth and love permeate our lives and make us more like Him.

2024.05.28 22:10 Jingo_McHarrison Duets Written by a Female

Hello! I am looking for a piece of music for two euphoniums written by a woman composer. This doesn’t have to be too difficult but I am looking for something without piano accompaniment. Alternatively a trio with a tuba and two euphoniums could be nice too.
If you also have any pieces of music (specifically classical) arranged for a euphonium or trombone. (Or can be a solo PLAYABLE by a euphonium) that is composed by a woman please give me that too!
Trying to build my recital program.
Thanks!
