I was at the SA-NL game in New York today and had such an absolutely wonderful time I can’t even describe it properly. The joy in that stadium was so real. I am American, husband is South African and he got me into cricket during the last T20 WC. I have never seen a live game before and the whole experience exceeded my wildest dreams. Even my kids, who normally get bored with cricket two minutes into a highlights package, were riveted the entire match.
The Nassau County stadium was, in my opinion, a great fan experience and for the most part did not even feel like it was a temporary structure. Seats were a bit small so the stranger to my left was up in my business a lot, but not a huge deal. There are no cup holders which was the only real downside.
The food choices were great and while pricey, it was on par with other big arenas, you got a lot for what you paid for, and everything we had was tasty. There are big signs outside saying bags were not allowed, but we brought two clear stadium bags and had no problem getting in with them (they were just inspected before we entered). We did have to throw away our aerosol sunscreens as they were not allowed. BRING SUNSCREEN though as there is no shade. You could bring in empty water bottles and there were plenty of refill stations. I saw a comment about there being no soap at the bathrooms, but there was a big soap jug at the handwashing station in the women’s area, not sure about men’s.
Everyone was so kind, friendly and respectful, from staff/volunteers to fans. I want so badly for cricket to gain popularity here, and hoping that this helps.

This all started one day when I was, no surprise, nine years old. One day in my neighborhood, we had this elderly old man who's name I can't really remember, but I from what I overheard from my when my mom was gossiping about him one day, his name was Cecil. I watched one day after getting done playing Castle Crashers on my Xbox 360, Mr. Cecil himself letting one go inside of a carboard box, lighting in on fire, and throwing it through the neighbor's window because the sprayed him with a water hose (in the middle of November mind you.) At that moment, it wasn't the absolute mayhem that insued with my neighbor throwing these launchairs at the old fart while he yelled obscenities back at them, it was the fact that he just had the audacity to poop...in a box. Of all things, that. I never knew why, but it had me fascinated. At first, I would sit and laugh everytime I thought about it and tell it to everyone I met at school, but then as I grew older, I gained a morbid fascination with it. Not like in a sexual term, because I tried to get into it when I reached puberty, but it didn't work. However, I just wanted to do it just to get inside the mind of what old man Cecil (now dead) was thinking. So, it was today, at the Holdiay Inn in Fairmont, West Virginia, that I decided to give my fantasy a whirl. So, in the bathroom while my older brother went out to get groceries for my stay here (he goes to the Fairmont State University), I took a styrofoam cup and put a pizza box under it. Since we had eaten mexican just few hours before, I knew I would make a mess. And I did. It got all over the pizza box, pretty missing the cup. I decided to honor Cecil, I was going to leave this in front of one of the doors for a random tenant to fine. But before I did, I took my thumbnail and scratched "Cowboy Poop Cup" on there, as a nod to my Southern Heritage here in West Virginia. I can safely say over all, this experience is branded into my brain, and although weird, I wouldn't mind pulling this stunt again sometime. Cheers, lobotomy posters! |

I recently received a 'preliminary' offer letter for a TT assistant professor at an R1 public university. And I have successfully negotiated and added a 6-digit figure to my start-up package. Not perfect, but the contract is getting close to what I want.
However, the department wants me to sign the preliminary offer in 2 weeks. My past experiences and feelings are that the negotiation should definitely take longer than that. Should I expect a second round of negotiations or is the department trying to force me to sign the offer ASAP? The offer only has 2 pages right now and I think it is missing some details.
P.S.: There are also some concerns, but I understand that finding a TT position at an R1 public is very challenging and I shouldn't throw away this opportunity because of small things. I have talked to many professors and there are mixed comments.
(1) This university is in a state with poor public education. Not a perfect place for my family.
(2) The university is R1 but not the flagship in the state. The economy of the state is also questionable however the university is close to major companies and government agencies. My specific program is probably still top 50 in the country.

I (24F) have been working admin in an outpatient PT clinic for over two years. It's owned by a large rehabilitation corporation, but the model has it to where the clinics are small and mostly consist of one or two clinicians, one of which who is also the clinic director while treating. I am the only admin in the clinic and do all of the scheduling, copayments, insurance verification, financially counseling on benefits, insurance authorizations, referral management, etc. It's my first job and has been formative in gaining experience, but I'm at the point where I've realized that I want different things out of a position. I'm tired of being the only person in our clinic who can do these things and want more admin peers that are in my environment with me instead of in other locations remotely. Drastic policy and procedure changes from corporate that complicate even the most basic tasks have not helped with my moral either.
Neither has my clinic director. There's a part of me that does genuinely like her, she is good at treating patients and is personable but the negative aspects of her personality drain me. She doesn't take much seriously, can pretty loud and obnoxious, and can come off pretty rude and self centered. I'll give a small example: I'll ask for PTO and she'll say no or make some comment about it, but then actually approve it. Or last week I asked if she could speak with a patient, she did an exaggerated huff and made some comment on it, but did take the call. She isn't the original CD I worked with when I was hired, who was very professional in communication, so it's taken a lot of adjusting to know how to read her. She's also 36 weeks pregnant and is going to step down as CD after her maternity leave. She is waiting until she goes into labor before she stops working.
To make it an easier transition for everyone and, honestly not have to deal with her directly because I know she won't take it well, I was going to wait until after her maternity leave to leave myself. I've had that in my head since late March, and every day has felt like a slog to get through. Last Friday, I had a breaking point. She was sitting next to me at my desk, left her chat open on her computer screen, I saw her talking negatively about me to another coworker. She was talking about how the new PT hire did "more cleaning than I ever did" and kept going on about how annoyed she was with me. At no point that day did she ask me directly to clean. I'd literally done some cleaning earlier unprompted by taking out the trash and wiping my desk surface and I also helped the new hire by showing her where some things were, which new hire PT was grateful for so...what gives? I also saw another chat about how annoying it is that I'm "helping other people again" which was because I was on a screenshare with a newer admin peer in another clinic helping her verify an insurance for a patient so that the note could be signed off on. I'm the most experienced out of our current, isolated, admin team and screensharing is about the only way you can get help, and my peer's clinic director literally had her call me. I was caught up with my work at the time so it wasn't disruptive or distracting.
Since then, she's been nice to my face but who knows what else she's been saying. I don't quite trust her.
This was just the tip of the iceberg. There are other things that have happened that have made it clear I need to get out of here ASAP. Before that, I had my phone blown up by her and another manager on my PTO day letting me know to come in early the next day for a new patient (felt like they were checking in to see if I was still coming in....I should mention I've given ample notice any time I've taken off and was never a no show). She saw I missed two calls from a patient (got called while I was at lunch, I called patient back and left a voicemail, patient calls back during the two seconds I stepped away to use the restroom, I called patient back when I saw it and got it straightened out) and she straight up did not believe me until another coworker backed me up. The other manager is also an extreme micromanager and accused me of not following our policy on calling referrals when I was (and was silent when I pointed it out). I got a "friendly reminder" in the group chat because I saw a fax right before I was leaving for lunch and decided to get it when I came back, nevermind that I've been here for years and know the policy. I'm not a perfect employee, but my previous managers would correct me and then move on. They expected me to get the message and I did, and there was mutual trust as a result. Any slight mistake I've made has been held over my head by these two, even with performance improvement. There's just no trust in this team at all right now and I'm so done.
I found a new position I'm interested in and applied that night thinking the interview process would probably drag out until she was gone and then I could jump ship, but they've been surprisingly swift. I had my first call on Tuesday and an in person interview on Wednesday that went very well. In conversations since, the managers of the new department have made it very clear they're interested in hiring me and have gotten the process rolling. I have a phone call w/ new place's HR on Monday morning to talk over the job offer and it's likely I'll be putting in my two weeks that day.
The duties of my new role will be less intensive, I'll get a slight pay raise, I'll have experienced peers that I can learn from, and thinking about moving on alleviates so much stress...but I feel bad for leaving my current place in the spot they're in. My clinic is the busiest it's been all year, my clinic director will probably take it as a slight and make my last two weeks insufferable, and I feel bad about letting the coworkers I do like inherit the burden of losing half the team. I even feel bad that my clinic director will inherit some extra work because of me leaving right when she could give birth at any day. I know that thinking like this is definitely a sign that I need to leave, but it's hard to not get caught up in it. Am I right for leaving? Am I wrong for kind of screwing them over, even though I feel like they've not been great to me? How do I break the two weeks to someone I know is not going to take it well? How do I actually survive the last two weeks?

I had a lot of problems growing up. ADHD, anxiety, schizophrenia (never tested for just was told I had it), bi-polar depression, the list goes on. I never thought anything about it until I was in 4th grade.
I had a decent childhood aside from most of this, I had loving parents, an older sister to look up to, a younger brother to get in trouble with and good friends. I also had what my parents called "imaginary friends". Some were really nice, but the others weren't.
It originally started after we had watched the original Ghostbusters movie. You know, with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis, but also with Gozer. Well we watched this movie one hot summer night, our parents said we could sleep in the living room cause our sister was having a slumber party and her friends asked my brother and I if we wanted to stay, much to my sisters dismay.
Let me give you an idea of the layout of the house I grew up in. First of all, the foundation our house was built on was unstable, so our house was on a very slight slant. Both front and rear doors were on the same side of the house but the backdoor was about 6 feet lower than the front. When you walked in through the front door the stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom were to your right and the living room was right in front of you. To the right of the living room was the dining room and another right was the kitchen and basement/backdoor stairs. Once you went upstairs the bathroom was only a few more steps away and my room was about 10 feet to the left.
Anyway, I went upstairs to use the bathroom and I could see it, Gozer. It was standing in my doorway, I was frozen in fear. It started to speak to me like an adult would normally talk to a child, but in the same voice as the movie. "Whatcha doin little boy" I couldn't speak for what felt like 5 minutes and I just blurted out "Gotta pee." "Well why don't you go pee and then come hang out with me?" I went into the bathroom and peed and when I walked out it was about halfway between my room and the bathroom. "Do you want to come play with us?" It said "No, I'm having a slumber party with my family." I said really quickly, "I'm not supposed to talk to strangers, so you need to leave my house." I heard my mom calling me right after I said that and before I could respond I heard heavy footsteps running from my bedroom closet. I screamed, my dad sprinted up the stairs and grabbed me "Jonny! What's wrong? Why are you screaming?" I told him everything, my mom, brother, sister and sisters friends were all crowding the stairs staring at me. "It's just a stupid movie" my sister said mocking my fear "Don't be a baby." As she finished her sentence my closet door slammed shut and then a few seconds later the bedroom door did the same, splintering my door frame. My dad told my mother to take everyone downstairs and call the police, then he grabbed my shoulder and told me to wait right where I was. He opened the first door and flipped the light switch and looked back at me with wide eyes, then yelled for my mom to grab his camera.
A few minutes later my mom came running up the stairs with the camera and extra film. She handed me the film and said "Hold these, they're cold" and then walked into the bedroom, and then she let out a sound I had never heard before and haven't heard again. I ran into my room thinking something happened to my toys. When Iade it into the room everything looked fine, until I turned towards the wall leading to my closet. There were 3 very deep gouges from doorframe to doorframe (about 6 or 7 feet) and the door had been ripped off it's hinges.
My dad used all of the film to document this and for some reason handed it all over to the police. The officers spoke to me first, then each of my fily members.and finally my sisters friends. They searched the entire block after searching every inch of our house and couldn't find anything. After a few days they decided I had mad the entire thing up and did the damage myself for attention. You know, cause a 4th grader could do all of that without making a sound and while there were 7 other witnesses to say I didn't move when it all happened.
We never received the film from the police and shortly after that I was taken to see a psychologist for my mental issues. This was the worst paranormal event in my life, and I'm the only one who seems to remember that day. When I ask my family about it, they just kinda shrug it off saying they don't remember anything. The worst part about that whole experience was that after it was all over my "imaginary friends" all became shadows. They didn't speak, they just stated at me. I would see them everywhere I went, when they originally only showed up at my house.
When I moved to 5th grade I was taking medication for schizophrenia, and they all disappeared for a while. Until my grandfather on my mom's side died. Ever since then, nothing I take gets rid of them. I've more or less gotten used to them and I have gained the ability to ignore them but I can still sense them. I've actually written about 7 of them in another forum thinking it might make them less powerful, but it didn't.
Not many people believe me when I talk or write about this, but this is not a work of fiction. I'm not Stephen King, and those who have experienced the paranormal have experienced my shadows.

I'm a 32F RN/RM, I work mainly in maternity. All my life I have suffered from imposter syndrome, continuously wondering how I manage to 1. Gain employment, and 2. Not mess up every single day at work. I know I have the same qualifications as everybody I work with, and much more experience than alot of them. But I'm so petrified people will think I have no idea what I'm talking about that I stay very quiet and work and never put my hand up for higher duties.
I've finally decided to do some study to become an IBCLC - and my work has offered to fund my $1900 course. I honestly couldn't believe they would be willing to do that for me, as I feel so undeserving to be there in the first place.
That brings me to today. I need to purchase a laptop to complete it on at home, because my macbook from uni (that I bought in 2011) has finally died.
I can't bring myself to go to the shop and buy one because the idea of buying myself something expensive feels wrong. I keep saying "it's OK I'll just go to the public library" When I know that isn't even a possibility because I have 2 young children and will need to do it at night when they sleep.

Hello everyone, I don't want to make this too long but I was diagnosed with social anxiety and they prescribed Risperidone 2mg, Escitalopram 20mg and Clonazepam 2mg, the thing is that I decided to stop the medication progressively and I felt better and even happy (I came to feel that I finally had my personality) but this only lasted 3 months, in the 4th month I started to have insomnia and I contacted the psychiatrist who prescribed me Quetiapine 200 mg, risperidone curiously never made me gain weight but it did inhibit my personality a little and I was becoming more introverted, I had experience with Olanzapine and it was a disaster with social phobia and intrusive thoughts. I understand that Quetiapine makes me fat just like Risperidone, although the latter did not make me fat, I am afraid that Quetiapine will make me fat and I am also afraid of losing my personality and having social phobia again. But I can't continue like this, I haven't slept for 1 month and 2 weeks, any advice?

The diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) is predicated upon the notion that those who suffer from it have aspects of their personalities which are problematic, self-defeating and dysfunctional so, in the first instance, it is useful to explain what is meant by personality.
In fact, there are several theories which attempt to describe what personality is rather than one, definitive theory and one of the best-known theories is called the five-factor model of personality.
The 5 factor model of personality proposes that personality comprises 5 main factors/traits/characteristics, represented by the acronym OCEAN.
These 5 factors are shown and elucidated upon below :
Openness To Experience (inventive/curious versus consistent / cautious). Conscientiousness (efficient/organized versus easy-going / careless). Extraversion (outgoing/energetic versus solitary/reserved). Agreeableness (friendly/compassionate versus challenging/detached). Stability/Neuroticism (sensitive/nervous versus secure/confident).
Because, as already stated, a diagnosis of BPD is based on the idea that aspects of the diagnosed person's personality are disturbed we would expect there to be some relationship between this model of personality and the personalities of those suffering from BPD.
In relation to this, researchers have posed the question: to what degree can a diagnosis of BPD be predicted from a description of a person's personality based upon the 5-factor model?
One study (Distel et al., 2009) that sought to answer this question, involving over 10,000 participants in total, found that, in terms of the 5-factor model, the traits that best predicted BPD were :

Even during the last century, anthropologists studied a tribe of very violent hunter-gatherers and found that those who had committed homicide lived longer and reproduced more than less violent members of the tribe.
It stands to reason that individuals who both inherit traits relevant to BPD AND grow up in a dysfunctional environment (constituting a ''double-whammy) are at especially increased risk of developing BPD compared to both those who inherit similar traits but experience a stable and loving childhood and those who do not inherit BPD-related traits but experience a traumatic and stressful childhood.
It follows, of course, that if a parent has BPD, the child is at significantly increased risk of developing BPD him/herself as s/he may both inherit predisposing personality traits and grow up in a harmful environment.

Hello lad’s, ladies, non binary dasies, and everyone in between! My preferred name is Mika, I’m 28, gonna be 29 in December, my perferred pronouns are He, Him, and His, and I’m FTM trans, pre everything.
So obviously I have autism. I was diagnosed with it when I was 5 or 6? I don’t remember what age I was when I got my diagnosis…
I was also diagnosed with Bipolar 2 as a child and I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in 2020 or 2021. But apparently I don’t have those anymore...
But I’m still experiencing symptoms of BPD.
But I have symptoms that I wonder if it’s because of my autism, OCD, or another mental illness that’s going on. (I have mental issues. I just need to get re evaluated again. Cause I think I have trauma and stuff…)
Here we go!
1 - When I see someone online or in a show, etc., I act like them and maybe want to become them. I talk like them, maybe want to look like them, etc. That’s a symptom of BOD called unstable sense of self.
2 - If people don’t text me back, I text them multiple times. I sometimes feel like everyone hates me or is out to get me. That people don’t actually like me. I also worry sometimes when I’m older that everyone will leave me and I’ll be alone. I heard it’s something called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria? But that’s also another symptom of BPD. It’s called Fear of Abandonment.
3 - When people tell me to stop talking, etc., I shut down and I get upset. And I don’t wanna talk anymore. Is this masking?
4 - Is age regression with autism a thing? Because I go in a childlike state sometimes. Like when I see toys, cute stuff like stuffed animals, etc., I get all excited, and even when I’m upset, I get all quiet and hug my stuffed animals, which I still sleep with all the time because it brings me comfort and protection. Sometimes I curl in a ball while holding my stuffed animals, and cover up in blankets to protect myself and to comfort me.
Does any of ya’ll experience these symptoms too? Could it be because of my autism? Or something else? Cause I feel like I do have mental issues, it’s just my Psychologist said everything is just anxiety when I first went to him. And my new family doctor said all these issues I’m having are all connected to me being autistic. But I don’t believe it. At all.
What should I do? Should I get re evaluated again? Because of my OCD, I can’t stop obsessing over it!
