4:47 EEST; The Sun is Rising Over Kyiv on the 836th Day of the Full-Scale Invasion. Escaping from occupied Oleshky after the attack on Kakhovka dam.
We are Ukraïner, a non-profit media aimed at advocating for the authentic Ukraine - and unexpected geographical discoveries and multiculturalism.
This is an article that was published on June 6th, 2024, the one-year anniversary of the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam. It has been condensed for Reddit.

This is a report about two people who managed to flee the occupied town of Oleshky amidst the chaos following the Russian explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. They got lucky, if one could even call it that. Residents of the flooded left bank of the Dnipro River were trapped — the occupiers were blocking the evacuation, shooting at those who wanted to get out on their own, and, of course, lying that “everything is fine, there is no need to panic.”
We met Andrii, 56, and Yulia, 53, in Kherson the day after they arrived in the Ukraine-controlled area from occupied Oleshky. We brought them clean clothes. The couple planned to go to the west of Ukraine to visit their daughter and grandchildren. Andrii and Yulia showed me a video of them eating ice cream in Kherson for the first time in a year and a half. Then, they recalled the horrors they had experienced and started crying.
Oleshky is a town on the left bank of the Dnipro River, which has been under occupation since the beginning of the full-scale war. After Russian troops retreated from Kherson in November 2022 and blew up the Antonivskyi Bridge, communication between the town and the right bank of the Dnipro River became impossible. As a result of a large-scale Russian terrorist attack on 6 June, 2023, which blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam, dozens of settlements in the lower Dnipro River area were flooded or completely covered with water.

Learning about the terrorist attack on the occupied Kakhovka hydroelectric power station

“The dam has been blown up,” a friend told Andrii by phone. It was seven o’clock on a Tuesday morning. It’s about 50 kilometres from Oleshky to the Kakhovka power plant, so the sound of the explosion did not reach the town. The locals learned about the impending big water from friends who called, from Ukrainian television, or the Internet. The occupation administration didn’t inform the locals about the coming flood.
Andrii, without disturbing Yulia, got out of bed and, for the first time since the beginning of the occupation, took three guns from his hiding place. The situation could portend anything. The man felt a weight on his shoulders, contemplating the disaster he and his wife would soon face. But at the same time, hope arose inside him that all this, their life under the occupation of the Russian Federation, would finally come to an end. They had not dared to evacuate their hometown before as they believed they were too old. They did not want to leave their beautiful two-story house with a magnificent garden, and believed that the Ukrainian military was to arrive soon.
Andrii took his boat out to the yard, lowered it from the carriage (a trailer for transportation of cars or special equipment) and put two oars and a tarpaulin inside. He tied one end of the cable to the boat, then threw the rope into his room through an open second-floor window and secured the other end to prevent the boat from being swept away by the water.
He told Yulia about the blown-up dam. They then began taking out canned food, vegetables, and firewood from the basement, as they had a fireplace on the second floor. To stay updated on the latest news about the flood, they relied on Ukrainian television broadcasts accessed via a satellite dish. They were trying to understand whether their house would be completely flooded.
In the afternoon, Andrii hopped on his bike and went to investigate the situation. It was important to find a hill to escape to. While passing through Oleshky, he came across an elderly couple standing in the middle of the street. The woman was crying and the man was trying to calm her down. Andrii intervened.
“Son, we’re going to be flooded!” the woman cried out. Their children and relatives were abroad. There was nowhere to run.
“When you hear the water, come here quickly,” Andrii said, gave his address and rode on. He never saw them again.
Then Andrii and Yulia watched the news on the TV again: “…the explosion of the dam and the machine room…”, “…the disaster occurred at around three in the morning…”, “…a particular threat to the lower-lying left bank…”
Information about the expected flooding level varied.
Around six in the evening, the power went out in Oleshky. So the couple stayed at home for the rest of the day.

How the water kept coming into Oleshky

At one o’clock in the morning, Andrii heard the sound of rushing water. He opened the window and could hear dogs barking and people shouting in the distance. He and his wife went outside and saw the road was flooding. On the other side of the water, a woman with a flashlight stood watching the waves wash over the street. The couple decided to return to their house while they could still walk on dry ground — the water was rising too fast.
It was Wednesday morning, and the water in Andrii and Yulia’s yard was already a metre high. The door to the house was firmly closed, so the water was barely seeping in. Andrii went down to the basement to save a few more cans of preserves and retrieve the pumping station. Just then, the sewer pipe running through the room burst, causing sewage to gush into the basement.
The two went up to the second floor. Outside, the wind was whistling, and there was a noise coming from below — water and all the contents of the sewer were washing away the first floor. Furniture, the refrigerator, and other appliances were being swept away. Andrii made notches on the wall of the house with a knife to mark the water level. From the first night, the water had been rising by five centimetres every five minutes, but by morning, the rate of flooding had slowed.
The water was overcoming the fence, and the boat tied to the house was already drifting. Andrii untied the boat and wanted to swim to rescue his neighbours, but he could not get out of his own yard as the gate was locked with two bolts submerged under water, one at the top and one at the bottom. The man returned to the house, took a hoe and, swimming to the gate, opened the bolts with the tip of the tool.
Andrii took his neighbours to his house, where the second floor was still dry. Then he went on a scouting mission. The water continued to rise, and while he could already turn on the motor, he continued to paddle instead: the Russian military was looking for motor boats and would confiscate either the engine or the entire boat. Watercraft without motors was not suitable, due to the swift current in many places, and inflatable boats could be easily punctured.
Along the flooded streets, there was chaos: cows were mooing, dogs and cats were swimming by, and the current was carrying beehives, firewood, and garbage. Cries of “Help!” were heard everywhere. Andrii was busy transporting people from smaller houses to houses with two or more floors. It was a sunny and hot day, and many people were sitting on their roofs without any shade.
During all this time, the shelling continued: Russian artillery on the outskirts of Oleshky was firing on Kherson.
Struggling to maintain his course, Andrii accidentally collided with the side of the boat with the trunk of an apricot tree, causing a swarm of bees to descend upon him. Swiftly, he grabbed a tarpaulin, wrapping himself tightly within it as he sensed the bees attempting to breach his makeshift shield. After a tense moment, the bees relented, allowing Andrii to continue on his journey. There were many more bees flying around from the flooded hives, many of them also became homeless.
In the morning and afternoon, there were almost no boats on the water.
While swimming down the street, Andrii heard a hoarse cry. He looked around. Then he heard a woman’s voice come from an old house. The man saw a grandmother looking out from the attic from the triangular cut-out of the mansard. He began to call her to the boat, and the woman jumped out of the door on the other side of the attic.
“Take me to Lyuba,” she said. Andrii started rowing to the neighbouring house. Lyuba, the friend of the grandmother, was sitting on the roof. However, the house was too high for Andrii to transfer the grandmother there safely. Instead, he suggested placing her on another nearby tall building where the ascent would be easier.
“No need! If I die, then it’ll be in my house,” she said and agreed with Lyuba that some man would come by boat and take her from the attic. So Andrii took his grandmother back, having neither the strength nor the time to argue.

Many people asked for transport, but most men refused. Andrii primarily saved women with children or the elderly. Navigating obstacles, persuading people to get into the boat, waiting for them to gather their belongings, and finding a way to safely disembark all took up precious time. Unfortunately, there was no time to discuss rescuing animals, even though many people pleaded to save their cats and dogs.
Andrii swam past the tall rose hedge that lined the road. Two-thirds of the bush was submerged, with rose petals floating on the water. Nearby, on a raft nailed to a wall, a brown dog sat helplessly. Andrii had to keep swimming.
It was then Andrii saw two boats with Russian soldiers sailing past the drowning people in Oleshka. One approached him.
“Do you have a working engine?” he asked.
“No. As you can see, I’m rowing with oars,” answered Andrii. The invaders swam away.
By the evening, rescuers among the locals increased. The Russian military, though, did not help the people. One guy made a raft by tying empty plastic bottles to a pallet. The man was rescuing animals, he even managed to pull a hedgehog out of the water. Residents of the city called their relatives, friends and acquaintances directly from the rooftops and begged to be rescued.

It stopped, damn it!

In the evening, Andrii sat at home with Yulia and the neighbours again, illuminating the front wall with a flashlight. He was looking at the last mark he had placed a few hours ago, now slightly covered by water. He looked again and at half past one in the morning he shouted:
“It stopped, damn it!”
The water really stopped rising, and in the morning it fell by 50-60 centimetres.
There was no thought that dry areas could still remain in Oleshky, because it seemed as if water had flooded the entire city. However, in the morning, Andrii swam in the direction opposite the Dnipro River and discovered that there was still land near the hospital. He began taking people there, starting with the neighbours who had been in his house, and then rescuing others. By Thursday, he had helped evacuate about 12 people.
In some places, the depth had reached four metres, only the crowns of trees and the roofs of houses protruded above the surface. Andrii swam at the height of power poles, occasionally getting tangled in the wires.
On Thursday, the street became much quieter.

“Is there anyone alive?” Andrii shouted, swimming through the blocks.

Only dogs barked back. Many were still around: some floating, others clinging to bits of land or any objects that had accumulated, forming tiny islands of salvation.

On Thursday, pallets, concrete mixers, refrigerators, wooden decks, etc. floated with the current. One of the neighbouring houses was torn loose and drifted out to the open sea. The water was swirling violently.
In the evening, Andrii noticed that the current had carved out a wide corridor leading to the river, about 50 metres wide, opening a path to Kherson. However, due to the one-metre difference in water level, it was dangerous to sail there. Nevertheless, hope was growing inside him. He returned home.
Yulia was terribly afraid of water and even before the war hardly ever got into a boat, so she didn’t want to entertain her husband’s suggestion of getting out of Oleshky using the newly emerged path. But Andrii insisted, saying they just needed to cross the riffle (a shallow section of a river), and then rescuers would be waiting beyond.
“It’s like we’re in Venice!” he joked. After looking at the faeces floating among the children’s toys, and then at her flooded luxurious garden, grown with painstaking work, Yulia agreed.

Sailing from occupied Oleshky to freedom

The final decision was made on Friday morning. Andrii launched the backup inflatable boat into the water and tied it behind the motorboat with a sturdy television cable. At this time, there were still two neighbours left in the house. Andrii offered them to join. Two people could fit into the inflatable boat. But they categorically refused — it was too dangerous. They asked to be dropped off near the hospital, and Andrii agreed.
When he returned, he and Yulia hastily gathered their belongings, packing their wedding suits, two favourite photo albums, an acupuncture mat, plush bunny, and toy dog that their grandchildren used to play with into the rubber boat. Andrii grabbed the branded box from his phone — in the chaos, it was difficult to rationalise the decision.

They took two bright flashlights.
“If we get carried out into the open sea, we’ll use them as beacons,” joked Andrii. Or maybe he wasn’t joking.
Their drinking water wasn’t in bottles, but in jars, so Yulia wrapped them in white towels and handed them down to Andrii from the window. The towels could serve as white flags if needed. From their food supplies, they only took a bag of walnuts. They also took three guns with ammunition as a “gift” for a Russian patrol. Yulia sat in the boat wearing a pink t-shirt adorned with plastic pearls and jeggings. Instead of a lifebuoy, they had a car tire. Andrii wore a t-shirt, shorts, and rubber boots. Both of them wore wide-brimmed beach hats on their heads. They set sail around half-past seven in the morning.
On the roof of one of the buildings they were passing by, a woman shouted:

“Just don’t forget about us!”

Yulia looked at her and silently pointed towards the Dnipro River.
“I understand,” the woman’s expression shifted between understanding and despair.
Overnight, the water level dropped even further, the rapids diminished, and the channel itself widened by 20 metres. However, the current remained strong, pulling the boats into a whirlpool. Andrii grabbed onto an electric wire stretched between two poles and, holding onto it, slowly descended downstream — away from the whirlpool, but towards an acacia tree. This caused the inflatable boat to collide with its thorny top. The items inside were lightweight, so it continued to float, albeit slightly tilted. But Andrii couldn’t help but think that if they had taken two more people with them, the inflatable boat might have sunk.
Having aligned both vessels, Andrii swam into the forest and moved further between the trees so that Russian patrols or snipers would not see them. Further, behind the submerged islands, a view of Kherson opened up, rising far, far away on the other shore.

Now Yulia realised that no one was waiting for them near the riffle — Andrii reassured her to convince her to get into the boat. Then they had to paddle to the other side on their own. But Yulia no longer cared about that. And the fear of water completely disappeared.
To make it more difficult for the Russian military to shoot them, they decided to swim diagonally, against the current.
Suddenly the rope snapped, and the second boat began to drift downstream. Yulia grabbed the television cable to hold the boat with the belongings. For the rest of the journey, she kept it afloat.
Between the banks of the Dnipro, there were islands with summer cottage communities, including two-story houses visible from the water. The couple feared that Russian military personnel might be lurking there, so Andrii nudged the rifle closer. As they approached the first island, the boats began to drift away. While Andrii attempted to hold onto the motorboat, his wife firmly grasped his hand.
“The land is floating!” Both of them watched as the entire island began to drift with the current. Their hair stood on end. Andrii tried to steer away from the whirlpool that swept the entire island away. Meanwhile, the land continued to float along with trees and rocks – straight into the sea.
But in a minute it turned out that it was not the island floating, but the boats being carried in the opposite direction. Andrii tried to swim against the current, but the current turned out to be so strong that it still carried them downstream.
From the direction of Olehky, a drone appeared in the sky. They looked to see if it was armed with a grenade, but they could not see clearly — the “iron bird” hovered against the sun. Andrii steered the boats further towards Kherson, and just before reaching the city, they encountered a swift current that began to carry them away along with the rapids. They had to turn back and anchor near a concrete pillar with a blue and yellow flag. They anchored and waited for rescuers to notice them. Drones continued to fly in the sky. One of them hovered over the two boats.
Andrii untied the ship and began to slowly drift between the trees, hiding in the bushes: if the drone came with a grenade, it would be more difficult to drop it. A snake fell from one tree directly into the boat. Yulia began to scream, while Andrii threw it overboard with a light swing.
Finally, they spotted a military boat heading toward a concrete pillar with a flagpole. There are two soldiers on the ship. Identification marks were not visible from afar. Andrii and Yulia hid behind a bush, so the boat sailed past.
Another “bird” flew up from the Kherson side and hovered over the pole with the flag. Yulia started to wave at it. The military boat returned. It turned out to be a Ukrainian military boat. The guys from the boat transferred Yulia, attached two other boats, and towed them to the shore.
Andrii took out his phone to film a video.

“This is what freedom looks like,” he said, looking at the green slope of the port city.

2024.06.08 03:45 Wilde_Astronaute The Art of Taking a Heart

TW: surgical gore, young and tragic death, organ donation I work in surgery. This is the most horrific, sad thing I have ever experienced. Seriously, do not read this if you have a problem with these things or find it triggering. This one is about a soul taken too soon and the greatest gift anyone can ever give.
My mom had just died, Then followed her dad, Her dog, Then Megan, my friend.
That, coupled with this, It will always make me cry.
Let me set the scene, And tell you about that beautiful boy, And his last Halloween.
He, in his kindness and responsibility, Delegated to walk home from the bar; As he had that inebriated fragility.
How was he rewarded? Pinned between the hood of a car, And the guardrail. Instantly broken and twisted.
Hit and fucking run, And just like that, His life was done.
The autonomic brain, And mechanical ventilation, Were the only things, Prolonging his resignation.
You need more context still, The etiology of the injury, Was quite unique, Unusually, leaving the thoracic pristine.
His was the first heart to be taken, In this hospital’s history. I couldn’t afford to be shaken.
In the horror of medicine, They call it a procurement. But I can assure you, For us it is anything but detachment.
I’ll start at the beginning, When I got my assignment, Wrangling Vandy and Mid-America, Prepping for transplant.
And then it was time, For my trek to the SICU, I felt like an angel of death, Scrub cap in lieu of scythe.
I’m not going to intentionally rhyme From here on out I just need to write
I’ve done this before, It comes with the job, But that walk and what followed, Was the hardest of my life.
I tried to avoid the hall, As I have learned to do, But there was no escaping, The crowd this grief had summoned
Easily one hundred, All spectacularly and horribly sad, Looking at me, Knowing it was time.
The silence that followed in my step Was the loudest I have ever heard I will never forget it
Young kids take time To truly grasp these things, One galloped beside me Green Jellycat in tow
My profession offers a disguise It helped me school my features But it did not stop my lips From quivering
This adorable girl She wore a Kelce jersey and a friendship bracelet So of course I knew what I had to do It would help, just a little, to ease them all
You also have to understand The nature of these procedures While the response is swift, There is quite a lot of waiting
I had time
So I said to her And her giant blue eyes “Oh sweetie, I have something for you, I’ll be right back”
I went to my locker I had this amazing Taylor Swift scrub cap It had every era It was so cute
So I went back to her And I had to put it On her green Jellycat
My friends loved that cap I was prepared to tell them I had taken it home and forgotten it Thank god they never asked
Before I could get a new one With a new design Of course I couldn’t bear it otherwise
That girl beamed at me And galloped away And I pretended not to notice The exhale of tension that followed
I’ll pick up the pace a bit This’ll be miles long if I get caught up
As I made my way To that beautiful boy’s bay There was his family, all of them The chaplain and Mid America
There was that UNOS list The dictator Of life and death
There was my ICU doc My partner in this Unfortunately, Many a time
And even she couldn’t hide The glass in her eyes This woman a warrior, hardened, As she called his time of death
What happens next Is a literal whirlwind sprint Down the hall, to the O.R. Past all those people
I think, In all the emergency, I may have seen a speck of green.
And so my ICU doc Bunny-suit clad and all Called his time of death again At the five minute mark
For all of those that fear bias with these, You’ll notice the ICU doc calls it, Not the performing surgeon (who never leaves the O.R), And it is assessed again at 5 minutes To make sure the heart has not restarted
And so incision was made Sternum sawed And somehow We took his heart
It was so, so quick One moment it was there The next being cannulated And then it was iced and out the door
When all was said and done I got a letter months later It really struck at my humanity When I read he had saved 60 people
But I will tell you And be done with the gore That seeing someone Completely drained of blood Changes you forever
That was when I needed someone To come in the room for me for a moment And, oh my god, I cried
But I did come back And see him off One has to honor such gifts
I had also found out later His mother went on To advocate for organ donation Because her son spoke of it so often
She said the O.R. staff impacted her In a way she’ll never forget
Even later than that I saw she had taken a video Of the whirlwind down the hall
And I really don’t know how I look so put-together And somehow sure
I haven’t looked at it since I’m not convinced it was me And, hopefully this makes sense,
But that perspective Outside-looking-in, I never want to see it again.
These procedures are always hard, I remember every single one, But I had to write about the youngest of them.
So this one is for that beautiful boy Victim to senseless cruelty and tragedy I’ll never forget him or his gifts Or the nurse he’s made me

2024.06.07 22:43 Top_Purpose101 Bunny Hopping

Bunny Hopping
So I’m aware that bunny hopping is getting fixed but I had to put this somewhere.
Background: I was getting shot around corners from bunny hoppers as everyone else does, but. They were peaking corners mid jump and decided not to jump if they saw someone (refer to the video)
Everyone ping was fine and no packet loss or anything. They were doing this all game.
I know they are working fixing it but I thought I should add a little more evidence.

2024.06.07 16:06 gimmethescallions First time car owner, need all the tips/advice!!

Hello!!! My family is adopting a 4 month kitten Monday and while I’ve been reading up and watching YouTube videos I still feel under-prepared! I’m looking for any tips and advice from veteran car owners. Female kitten, she will be getting fixed, NOT declawed and will be indoor only. We live in a ranch style home without the ability to have a pet door at this moment, so ideas on litter box placement would be appreciated, both bathrooms are small so my current plan is in the kitchen by trash though I don’t love the idea. Do’s and Don’ts and basic help very appreciated, we’re so excited to welcome this new addition.

2024.06.07 15:34 OwnMess2933 Wade Robson Cheating History Timeline.

Wade Robson Cheating History Timeline.
Wade Robson was born on the 17th of September,1982.
Brandi Jackson was born on the 6th of February,1982.
They met on the set of the LA gear photoshoot that took place in 1990, then they did the Black or White music video together which was filmed in September 1991.
So they were 8 years old when they met. Well, at least Brandi Jackson was eight when they met. I think Wade was still seven years old at the time and they were both nine years old when they did the black or white music video together.
According to Brandi Jackson, after the did the LA gear photoshoot and the Black or White video together, Wade had developed a crush on her. Wade asked MJ to set up a situation for them to meet and get to know each other better.
MJ invited Wade, Joy and Chantel as well as Brandi and her brother to the ranch. Wade and Brandi spent a week together at the ranch getting to know each other. Their relationship became closer and at the end of the stay at Neverland, he asked Brandi to be his girlfriend.
They first had sexual intercourse together when they were both 18 years old.
So Wade Robson and Brandi Jackson first had sexual intercourse in the year 2000.
Brandi Jackson stated that before her and Wade Robson had sex at 18 years old, she had already started to question her relationship with Wade because Wade started to work for Britney Spears at age sixteen as her choreographer for her first and second leg of her tour and around that time his behaviour started to change and it did not sit right with her, so she started to question him on whether he was sleeping with Britney Spears or not and he denied it.
However, as reports of Britney Spears alleged unfaithfulness to Justin Timberlake who she started dating in 1999 began to surface in 2002, she started to question Wade again on whether he was cheating on her with Britney Spears and Wade denied it until a mutual friend who was close to both her and Wade confirmed that Robson in fact was not only cheating on her with Britney Spears but with also Mayte Garcia (Prince's ex wife) who he began dating from 2000 until 2001.
When Brandi Jackson confronted him on all this information she found out from the mutual friend, he paused and started crying asking her how she knew this and who told her all these things and how could she possibly know these things. Never denying it, which caused Brandi and Wade to break up in 2002.
So Wade Robson cheated on Brandi Jackson twice throughout their relationship. First with Britney Spears then with Mayte Garcia.

2024.06.07 15:32 ablik Trip report - 28 days in March - Tokyo, Nagano, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Hiroshima, etc (Part 2/2)

This is a continuation of the first half of my March trip, where I hit up Kamakura, Yokohama, Tokyo, Hakuba, Takayama, Kanazawa, and Kyoto.
These last two weeks of my trip I was in Hiroshima, Miyajima, Okunoshima, Kyoto, Nozawaonsen, Fujikawaguchiko, and Tokyo.
The first half of my trip, I was working full time and barely sleeping. This second half, I had a lot more freedom.
Some things I did: fed some bunnies, watched a baseball game, attended an anime convention, waited a long time for donuts, wait through transport delays, wandered through a forest
A large portion of my trip was planned on the fly which was why I was able to make some seemingly nonsensical travel decisions. If I'd planned ahead of time, I wouldn't have missed out on certain in-demand experiences, for example, seeing a band I badly wanted to see, or returning to the Ghibli Museum to replace the kodama figure I'd smashed. However, one of the benefits of solo travel is the flexibility of doing whatever one wants, and I certainly did that.
On that note, most of the other people I saw throughout my trip were traveling with friends or significant others. There were plenty of occasions where I wished there was someone to share the experience with (the fact that I was still carrying a torch for someone the whole time didn't help).
In general, the hostels in Japan also seemed far less interested in promoting social activities, compared other countries I've visited. There were exceptions, like the one place that was run by a European guy. People on the streets also tended to do their own thing; I was approached by strangers twice during my trip, both times cos I was carrying a box from a very trendy donut shop.
This probably isn't Japan-specific, but one of the biggest lessons I learned was leave ample time for travel delays. I got caught by unforeseen circumstances and each time I wished I hadn't scheduled things so tightly. If hurrying between cities, I'd also take the train over the bus next time. It might cost a little more, but worth it just to avoid being stuck in traffic.
Expenses (gonna use USD):
Credit card $2802 / Cash $855
Total spent $3657
I charged my card as much as possible, both for the travel points and for fear of running out of cash. I arrived with almost $1k in bills and actually ended up with a bit left over
Lodging - $746 for 28 days, ranging from several $16/night hostels to a $52/night ryokan
Shopping - don't know total cos I used both card and cash, but my biggest expense was $217 electronic device from Don Quijote, followed by $49 at Uniqlo
Food - also don't know total, but most expensive meals were $70 and $35 for two tofu dinners, and $50 for wagyu lunch. The majority of my meals were <$10.
Other - notably $334 for one-week JR Pass and ~$200 for private lesson to level up snowboarding skills
Mon 3/18 - Hiroshima, Miyajima
Took off for Hiroshima on the shinkansen first thing in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised to by how much the JR Pass covered for this leg; I barely paid for any transportation costs the next few days. My pass covered the sightseeing bus that takes you from Hiroshima Station to a bunch of tourist locations (my hostel was right by one of them), the train and ferry rides to Miyajima, and my trains to Tadanoumi. IIRC all that was left was the 100yen Miyajima visitor tax and the ferry ride for Okunoshima. Score. Once again, Japan Travel by NAVITIME was super helpful for figuring out covered routes.
I got off the tourist bus at Peace Memorial Park and checked into my hostel, then immediately headed to a nearby okonomiyaki place (Henkutsuya Horikawa). Damn, that ooey gooey chewy flavour bomb seriously hit the spot. I wasn't expecting to be served right on the griddle where the food was being prepared.
After that, I walked around Peace Memorial Park, full of solemn tributes for everyone affected by the atomic bomb. The museum painted a very vivid picture of what transpired the morning of the bomb. It's hard for me to write about this. I'll just say people should know the human toll of war.
The park was built near the bomb had detonated; now everything is beautiful and serene, with only a few eerie vestiges of destruction like the Atomic Dome (kinda eerie at night).
I'd lingered a little longer than expected at the museum (it'd take hours to read through everything) and had to rush off to Miyajima. First things I noticed after getting off the ferry were the deer, so chill unlike the entitled ones I'd encountered in Nara. These, I like.
I spent some time walking through the shopping street, plenty of seafood, snacks, and souvenirs were available. Also diddle around Itsukushima Shrine a bit, waiting around for sunset and high tide. The view of the Great Torii was quite lovely.
Had some very cheap udon and egg sushi at Ueda, an adorable mom-and-pop restaurant near my hostel. The old lady there was just hustling to serve me; I wanted to hug her so bad. There was also a Dodgers game was on, and the camera kept cutting to Shohei Ohtani. The love for this guy here is real; I want to watch him play in person now.
Tues 3/19 - Okunoshima
Set off bright and early for a day trip to Rabbit Island for some eye bleach, and that was what I got, sorta. I'd bought some carrots and lettuce for feeding at the konbini beforehand, but you can buy bags of food pellets as well. The bunnies there were not shy at all; they come running out straight to you soon as they detect human presence, probably because they are so dependent on us for food. There were pans of presumably food and water around the island, which put my mind slightly more at ease.
Rabbits aren't all Rabbit Island is known for. It also used to be a secret island used for poison gas production, but maybe Poison Gas Island doesn't have the same appeal to it. There are still some creepy abandoned buildings and other traces of its martial past scattered around. I visited the poison gas museum, which was tiny but informative. Many of the plant workers suffered from ailments or straight up died here. There is now a resort where some of stuff took place.
Dark past aside, it was a nice quiet day of walking up and down trails. There are some decent views of the surrounding islands from the top of the hill.
Wed 3/20 - Tokyo
Well, today was a little unusual. About a week or so ago, I got the idea of seeing a baseball game in Japan. Was originally thinking the Hiroshima Toyo Carp but their schedule didn't work for me. Then I found out the historic Meiji Jingu Stadium, home of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, might get torn down soon, and I wished to see it before that happens. There was a home game today that fit my schedule. Also - I'd decided previously that I wanted to hit up another ski resort at some point for more riding, and my JR Pass was active this week. Yeah so that's how I found myself leaving Hiroshima for a pit stop in Tokyo, then finishing the day in Nozawaonsen.
Left hostel around 6am to catch the Shinkansen to Tokyo Station, where I found a locker to dump my bags. Quick tempura soba lunch at Tendon Tenya, then off to Meiji Jingu Stadium. I was 15 min late to the 1pm starting time, right as it was starting to rain.
It'd been a few years since I last saw a baseball game, and this turned out to be a great experience. The fans were super into it, singing and chanting every few minutes. They also did the Tokyo Ondo dance with their tiny ass umbrellas at the 7th inning and whenever the Swallows scored, so adorable. Concession fare was not bad either; I got udon and matcha parfait instead of hot dogs for a change, and it was funny to see the players hamming it up.
Home team won, a few rounds of Tokyo Ondo were sung, now it's back to Tokyo Station to take the Shinkansen toward Nozawaonsen. Now Japanese trains are renowned for their punctuality, with the average train delay less than one minute a year - well my train was two hours late to arrive. It was very windy and rainy that day, and a fallen tree had blocked the way or something. I arrived at my Iiyama stop way too late to catch the last bus and the taxi stand was empty. It was snowing hard outside and I thought I was SOL. Thankfully, a station attendant was able to call up a cab for me. What was supposed to be a $4 bus ride turned into a $50 cab ride but, shou ga nai. I was so so happy when I finally entered my room at Miyasakaya at 11pm and found a kotatsu and heater waiting for me.
Thu 3/21 - Nozawaonsen
I chose this place because it was a cute little village with both a ski resort and over a dozen public baths. Despite the travel mishaps the day before, I was glad I came. The village was very compact and it was only a short walk to the resort. I felt very fortunate to have fresh pow both times I went riding.
After that was over, I set off to explore the village a bit. Everything was beautiful and serene from the freshly fallen snow. There was Ogama, a hot spring used by locals as an open air kitchen for cooking food. Only villagers are allowed in, probably for good reason.
I tried one of the 13 free public bathhouses where, as is customary in Japan, the baths are gender-separated and everyone strips down completely. Big yikes. It seemed like elderly (locals) had no trouble wading right in whereas the younger generation, myself included, had to struggle a bit to acclimate to the high temperature of the water. I decided one bath was quite enough for me and went to enjoy a hearty dinner that included an onsen egg and the local pickled nozawana.
BTW, I understand the serious dangers that come with backcountry riding, but the dourness of this poster just sent me.
Fri 3/22 - Kyoto
Well, I ended up deciding I wanted to visit Fushimi Inari on this trip after all (but mostly I wanted an excuse to eat more tofu), so back to Kyoto I went. First stop was Nishiki Market which had a very wide delicious-looking assortment of food stands. The freshly fried tempura and freshly prepared seafood looked especially good; too bad I was full.
Then up some shopping streets, quick stop at Ippodo to buy some matcha which I forgot to do the week before. Afterwards, back to Kyoto Gyoen to scope out the tree situation. Well there was one big cherry blossom tree that was in partial bloom; nevertheless it was surrounded by people taking pictures (hey we take what we can get).
Hopped on the train to Fushimi Inari and got there in the late afternoon, still lots of people around. I started climbing the steps, stopping only for a city vista with the orange glow of sunset. The crowds were petering out, awesome. By the time I reached the top (~50 min later), it was already dark, peaceful, eerie almost. I'd never seen this place at night and was glad I came. (It's technically open 24/7 but there are warning signs about wild boars out at night.)
The rest of the night was kind of a bummer. I went back to the restaurant where I first had tofu dinner eight years ago. The only tofu set available included seafood which I was allergic to. I inquired about potential substitutions and there must've been some miscommunication; what I ended up getting was a plate of wagyu and rice, which was obviously quality but my heart was set on tofu. I was probably mostly mad at myself for the failed listening comprehension. Oh well, things don't always turn out when traveling.
Sat 3/23 - Tokyo
Back to Tokyo, where I would stay for much of the remainder of my trip. This was the last day of my JR Pass so no more stupid bouncing back and forth after today.
There were two concerts I'd really hoped to attend happening today, primarily King Gnu at Sapporo Dome. (They had an international ticket sale late last year, way before I'd decided on this trip.) Knowing how slim my chances are as a foreigner to get tickets, I hedged and bought a day pass to the AnimeJapan 2024 convention instead. It was only ~$16, way cheaper than any anime convention back home, a cost I would happily eat if I managed to score a concert ticket.
I was aiming to make it into the convention by 10:25 which alas did not happen. I had a chance to see the voice actor of my favourite anime in person but the wait to get in took too long and I missed the panel completely. Oh well... This was actually my first anime convention ever and it was certainly a interesting if not overstimulating experience. The place was completely packed with attendees, giant screens, loud noises. Many anime that I recognised, many that I did not. There was also a decent number of cosplayers; this one's my favourite. Oh yeah I also had the least-satisfying meal of my entire trip here (aside from non-tofu).
The rest of the day was less interesting - visited the life-size Unicorn Gundam, wandered into a random tulip festival nearby, checked sukiyaki off my list, arrived at my hostel in Chiyoda. I was pleased to have milked that JR Pass until the very end, an 11pm ride on the Yamanote line.
Sun 3/24 - Tokyo (Akihabara)
First stop of the day was the National Museum of Modern Art, which I ended up enjoying quite a bit. Modern art is sometimes known for being inscrutable, but this museum offered accompanying text for almost everything and I felt engaged the whole time. There was also a cherry blossom special exhibition going on, and they provided low benches to emulate the hanami experience, such a nice touch.
Next up was the Sumida Hokusai Museum, which only has replicas in its permanent exhibition but was still very informative about the many artistic periods of the man's life (he also went by over 30 names, depending on the period!) I especially liked this display on process behind the the Great Wave Over Kanagawa.
I'd originally gone to Asakusa for lunch at Ichiran around noon, but noped out after seeing the line out the door and around the corner. Returned right before 5pm, the queue was only 6 people long, score. All I can say is that it was GOOD to be back. My bowl was customised to perfection; it's still my favourite ramen chain.
After dinner, walked over to Akihabara to explore a bit. The streets were lined with a ridiculous number of girls trying to hand out flyers and get people into their maid cafes (also a couple of guys for butler cafes); I was just glad they were allowed to wear jackets and carry umbrellas standing in the cold. Already tried the maid cafe experience last time; being addressed as "your majesty" once was more than enough.
My hope was to locate a Gintama figure. I saw lots and lots of figures on display in various stores but sadly nothing for what I wanted. One of my stops was the eight-floor Mandarake complex. That place... was an experience. So much stuff, including a sorta creepy floor with customisable dolls. BTW, you might think all the hentai would be hidden at the top or something. Haha well, just don't take your kids into the fourth floor. On that same note, how DARE they defile Frieren like that!
I wandered around a bunch of other shops and saw and hundreds and hundreds of figurines, e.g. Gundam, One Piece, Spy X Family, all the shounens, etc. It was still fun to explore and see all the displays.
Mon 3/25 - Tokyo (Asakusa, Akihabara)
Today's schedule was relatively light as I'd planned to go hiking at Jimba today; however the rain kinda blew those plans away. Instead, I got some cardio in by running the Imperial Palace 5k loop. It was really pleasant, a lot of urban scenery to take in. Maybe a little pleasant - I stopped several times to snap pictures. If you go, make sure you run counterclockwise to not look like a knob!
Afterwards, I headed back to Asakusa to pay a visit Senso-ji. As expected, the place was completely packed, with good reason: every direction you turn, there was a pretty view. Honestly I didn't even mind the crowds; they added to the energy. This place is just so invigorating I would visit it every time I'm in town.
Also got matcha gelato at Suzukien right behind Senso-ji. The level 7 matcha really hit the spot, was totally worth the hype.
For dinner, I ventured back to Akihabara to try Japanese-style spaghetti at Spajiro. As a lover of noodle soup, it really hit the spot for me. Afterwards, picked up some stuff at Uniqlo and Donki (gotta love that duty-free shopping) before calling it a night.
Tues 3/27 - Tokyo (Shibuya, Shinjuku)
It poured all day, which was rather unfortunate. I had plans to visit the Tokyo National Museum, and it seemed that many other tourists also got the idea that being indoors was better than wandering around Ueno Park today. Cue the hourlong queue.
The contents of the museum were as expected: many cultural treasures that they were (rightfully) proud of. I particularly enjoyed the beautiful folding screens, kimonos, calligraphy, and woodblock prints (including actual Hokusai ones). There's also a nice garden, which I almost had all to myself bc only one or two other people wanted to step out in the pouring rain.
Now for the crummy part: I had reservations in the afternoon for Shibuya Sky, but visibility was terrible. The rooftop was also closed due to rain. It was hard to see far, but at least the immediate surroundings, e.g. the crossing, were still easy to see.
Before going up the tower, I'd passed by this place called "I'm donut ?" that had a ginormous line. After the tower, line was gone so I went in to check it out. There was literally one single donut left and they closed up shop after I bought it. As I stood outside enjoying my pleasantly not-too-sweet chocolate spelt donut with the texture of fluffy bread, several other people came by and stared hungrily at my treat. Awkward...
This evening I was headed to Shinjuku's Golden Gai for dinner at Ramen Nagi, the first place I'd ever eaten at in Japan. It was eight years ago, way past midnight, and this cramped second-story ramenya was the first place we saw open on the way to our lodging. We were flustered by having to order off a machine for the first time, but the anchovy broth and curly ribbons of noodles, unlike any ramen we'd eaten back home, promised only more surprising delights to come for our trip... Anyways. It was as cramped and delicious as I'd remembered. I was happy.
After dinner, wandered around Kabukicho a bit, wondering what was going on inside all these buildings of the red-light district. The place was already very loud and bright from all the signs around, but the reflections off shimmering wet streets made things seem doubly so.
Walked through Omoide Yokocho, where I found myself getting pulled into one of the stalls. Goddamnit, I just ate. I politely ordered two skewers and the bill, which includes a $3 yen table charge, came out to be around $7. Well I guess in a way it was worth it for the "unique" experience - the guy grilling the skewers was casually just reaching into the snack mix bin and smoking a cigarette at the same time, that's the kind of place this was.
Saw something on Google Maps about a giant Godzilla head, which took me to a nearby movie theatre. Instructions unclear, watched Dune: Part Two instead.
Wed 3/26 - Tokyo (Ginza), Koga
First half of today would be Ginza, followed by a day trip to Koga in Ibaraki Prefecture to visit a trio of octogenarians I'd befriended at a cave in Vietnam.
I like Ginza. Very pretty and walkable, obviously you don't actually have to buy anything.
First stop was Kimuraya, supposedly the oldest bakery in Japan, originator of anpan and whatever the hell this is. Munched on shrimp katsu sando at their cafe on 2F and watched the passersby below.
Next, walked around the Kabukiza Theatre and checked out the free little kabuki museum in the tower behind it. Kinda cool angle of the theatre too. Didn't have time this trip, but I remember catching part of a kabuki show was a pretty nice experience, plus you can just buy tickets for a single act and then peace out.
Lunch at Ginza Hachigou, the reason I came today. It took me two weeks to get that reservation, basically the same experience as fighting bots for concert tickets. I ordered the one with the foie gras ravioli, which at $14 would be my most expensive ramen this trip. And, it was really good. Each part of it was prepared well; I especially enjoyed the flavourful lightness of the consomme and the pillowy softness of the ravioli (honestly feels more like a wonton to me). You only get 30 min of seat time and I took it pretty slow to savour everything.
Walked around a bit more to take in the glimmering architecture. There was a giant mass of people outside the Michael Kors store; apparently some kpop idol was inside and fans were trying to catch a glimpse of her.
A place I ended up really liking was the free Shiseido Gallery, which provides solo exhibition space for various artists. When I went, the featured artist was Zai Nomura, whose work really spoke to me. There was one interactive piece that invited visitors to submit their own photographs, which I gladly did.
Mid-afternoon, I hopped on the train to Koga to see my cave buddies. It was an hour and a half ride, and they picked me from the station to go to the local park. There was a peach blossom festival going on, with orchards of mostly Barbie-pink fluff as far as the eye could see. We took a lovely sunset stroll at the park, then headed off to a nice Japanese restaurant. I had input my order and gone to the restroom, when they decided that ordering off a tablet was too confusing and we should go somewhere else. (Like many of the elderly I'd encountered here, they are healthy and spry, but still utterly befuddled by technology.) Instead we went to a Chinese restaurant and I must say, the Chinese food I've tried in Japan has continued to disappoint me; at least the company did not. It was also nice hanging out in an average, non-touristy city for a change.
Thu 3/28 - Tokyo (Shibuya)
No real plans today other than wandering around Shibuya and eating. With only a few days left on my trip, this was gonna be my lazy weekender foodie day. Skip if you don't want to read me yammering on about food.
Took a stroll through Nakameguro to catch some cherry blossoms. The trees lining the streets were indeed coming along quite well, but the ones along the river were still barren. Everyone's been waiting expectantly but the recent cold snap delayed the blooms by a week.
Next up was a visit to the Kyu Asakura House, a well-preserved local politician's estate from the early 1900s where they absolutely do not want you touching anything. It really was a nice home that takes you back in time, even if barren of furniture - and the garden was even nicer.
Realising the house was only a 6 min away from the Shibuya I'm donut ?, I returned, again to a long orderly line (Japanese people really do not mind their queues). So I figured, already tried one donut of theirs that was good, why not see if the rest were worth the hype?
55 minutes later... I didn't notice it last time, but this particular branch was like an atelier of donuts; everything was arranged in such a beautiful, bougie fashion. And there were dozens of interesting flavours too! I picked out six and decided to save worrying about how to eat them all for later.
Next stop: Nanaya. The intense matcha and black sesame gelato I had at Suzukien was so enjoyable I decided to get it again, at Nanaya. (The 7 levels of matcha gelato was a collab between the two.) So good, made me wish there were a level 8 or 9...
At this point, I figured I should get some real food in my belly before I fill it up completely with sweets. Aoyama Flower Market Tea House, which charmed the hell out of me a few weeks ago, was nearby so I went back for an actual meal. The flower arrangements for the place had changed, but my omurice lunch was as aesthetically pleasing and delicious as expected.
Next up was Latte Art Mania that was recommended to me by a barista I'd met at the hostels. Their deal is that they specialise in latte art (duh) and their drinks are pitch black (charcoal, most likely). Apparently I got the same design as my friend, a swan, but the drink itself was very good and it tripped me out to see my matcha latte the colour of tar.
Rest of the day was just wandering around Shibuya, lots of big brand stores, lots of trendy boutiques, lots of people to see. Walked through Harajuku, which was not as busy as I'd remembered, maybe bc it was late afternoon.
I saw a sign for Harry Harajuku hedgehog cafe that included pictures of otters, some of my favourite animals, so I went upstairs to it for a peek. There were indeed otters outside, but most of them were running in circles restlessly in small pens. It was a little unnerving for me and I decided not to enter.
Next up, Shibuya PARCO, which had Pokemon Center, Nintendo Store, Jump Shop, Capcom Store, etc all on the same floor. It was, expectedly, crowded as hell, so I didn't stay too long. It was cool to see full-size statues of Mewtwo, Luffy, Link, and others though.
Took another obligatory Shibuya Crossing video (this time from the Mark City bridge) and decided I was done with crowds for the day. It was surprising to see how uncongested everything was even just 200m away from the crossing.
Tried to walk into Tofu Cuisine Sorano for you-know-what, but they were sold out for the night, four hours before closing. :( Instead I settled for a hearty plate of napolitan at Spaghetti no Pancho, which I doused in Kewpie mayo and parmesan until I felt bad about myself. And then I got to work on the donuts, which turned out to be very much worth the hype.
Fri 3/29 - Tokyo (Ginza, Shinjuku), Fujikawaguchiko
I returned to Shiseido Gallery in Ginza. As previously mentioned, Zai Nomura's exhibit had an interactive portion, which invited users to submit photographs of the deceased to be "printed" into a tank of water at a scheduled time. Hard to explain. My grandmother had passed the month before and it was a real cathartic experience for me.
Before leaving, I stopped at Ginza Ginger for this exquisite bowl of shaved ice. It was a seasonal sakura theme, delicate in flavour and varied in texture, a beautiful treat. The hot strawberry ginger drink was an excellent accompaniment as well.
Speaking of sakura, more were finally getting into bloom in Tokyo so it was time to visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The park itself was pretty vast and there were a lot of people, mostly crowded under the clusters of blooming sakura. I only had an hour, which was enough to see plenty of trees, but had to skip revisiting the Garden of Words pavilion.
I was on a tight schedule today. I had to catch my bus to Fujikawaguchiko and make it to my hostel by 8pm to check in. Based on the bus schedule, I should've made it on time, but alas traffic conditions prevented that from happening; I got off at 8:15 and reception was closed. This was a sleepy resort town with dark streets, and I legit started worrying having to find a hotel way out of budget, if any were even open, or the safety and legality of sleeping outside.
I wandered into an izakaya at the bus station that was open to ask for help and someone said they would call around for me. I sat around awkwardly for half an hour with my luggage before realising I'd only eaten a donut all afternoon, so what a pleasant surprise it was to find this place had tofu stew and horse sashimi, my two comforts, on the menu.
At around 9:30, the employee returned and said he found an available place ~2km away if I'd be willing to sleep at a hostel. Uh, are you kidding me??? I quickly agreed and he made arrangements for me. Thank you, tenin-san from Uotami Fujisan Station, for saving the day!
I walked 20 min the dark to get to this place and not a single car passed by. At $35, it'd be one of my more expensive lodgings this trip (and eating the cost of the original hostel) but who cares right now. I arrived at Cabin & Lounge Highland Station Inn and wow the place was way nicer than I'd thought, more of an upscale capsule hotel than a hostel. Spacious capsules with lots of lighting and charging options, huge lockers, the whole place was immaculately clean, vending machines, laundry machines, plenty of showers with soaps, lotions, dryers, etc. I slept very soundly that night (sheer relief may have also factored in here).
Sun 3/30 - Fujikawaguchiko
First stop of the day was the iconic Chureito Pagoda at Arakurayama Sengen Park. The earlier to go the better - I arrived around 7:30am and a few dozen people were already up there, plus I was kinda flushed after climbing the 400 stairs in the sun.
I realised that my trip was nearing its end and there was still nary a shred of evidence (screenshot of drained bank account maybe?) that I was in Japan. So, a photo here would have to do. Mt. Fuji - check, pagoda - check, cherry blossom - still in hiding. Eh, 2/3 ain't bad.
I hadn't noticed in the dark of night, but Mt. Fuji was so close by, casually looming over everything; just face the right direction and there it was, in your face. Pretty neat to experience.
Checked out of the capsule hostel and made it to Kawaguchiko Station to dump my luggage. It was a total zoo there and all the lockers were already occupied. I kept walking a few buildings down and found plenty of vacant lockers across the street from the 7-Eleven.
After securing bags, I went for lunch at the popular Hotou Fudo across the street from the station. Ordered the local specialty hoto miso noodle soup and horse sashimi, both of which I loved. It was a hearty and delicious meal.
Ambled along Lake Kawaguchi to where the cherry blossom festival was supposed to take place this weekend; however because the trees were still stubbornly refusing to blossom, there were barely any people around. I felt kinda bad for the people with booths out. It was a pleasant stroll along the lake but in all honesty, I wish I'd spent the day at Fuji-Q Highland amusement park.
Visited the Kawaguchi Asame Shrine, dedicated to the goddess of Mt. Fuji. This place is remarkable for having seven tall, healthy cedar trees clustered closely together, each one named and over 1,200 years old.
Went back to station to grab my bags and got picked up by the kind owner of my next hostel, Michikusa-ya. This place had a very lovely window seat.
Sun 3/31 - Fujikawaguchiko, Tokyo
Last full day in Japan!
There's this shrine on the lake called Rokkakudo that can only be accessed when the water level is low; other times it's on an islet. The inside of the shrine is bare but being able to get to the place was kinda cool on its own.
The majority of the day would be spent in Aokigahara aka Sea of Trees aka Suicide Forest. I was in a weird state of mind when I decided on this for the end of my trip. I had the two-day bus pass that gave unlimited rides on the red, blue, and green sightseeing buses. It's purchasable at Kawaguchiko Station or online, and is worth it for anyone making multiple stops.
I took the bus to the Bat Cave, closest stop to the forest entrance. There was an information center that naturally had three rooms full of Batman posters.
The forest really lived up to its name; the trails were clearly marked, but I did feel at numerous points as if I was standing amidst dense, undulating waves of trees. The forest floor is composed of impenetrable volcanic rock; thus most of the tree roots are splayed across the ground as tripping hazards. Though vast, there were plenty of exits to main roads or rest stops. I didn't think I'd meet a toilet I wouldn't like in Japan, but I was wrong.
At some point I decided that was enough forest and hopped on the sightseeing bus to the Narusawa Ice Cave. It was exactly as the name implied, a cave that naturally contained ice. I'd say it was borderline worth the price of admission: a cool phenomenon but you're also in and out in under ten minutes. I skipped the wind cave, which I think is similar.
With 24 hours left in Japan, it was time to head back to Kawaguchiko Station so I could catch the bus back to Tokyo and squeeze in last-minute activities. In hindsight, I should've taken the train. Just as the bus had taken longer to arrive than expected, it was stuck in traffic returning to Tokyo as well - this time delayed by three hours :/
I decided to spend my evening at Rikugien Gardens, which was specially lit up at night for sakura season. It was quite lovely and peaceful, in spite of the crowds, in spite of cherry blossoms not yet being in full bloom.
Final dinner was the familiar comfort of Marugame's nikutama bukkake udon, piled high with scallion and tempura bits. Also threw in vegetable kakiage and burdock root tempura since we don't have those items back home.
Watched the trains ride off into the night as I walked back to my hostel. Love you, Yamanote Line <3
Mon 4/1 - Tokyo
My flight was a little past 2pm but I wasn't quite ready to be done yet. Walked over to Ueno Park at 8am, where the trees were finally teasing pink and white cotton candy splendour. It wasn't very crowded yet since all the food stands wouldn't be open for another hour or so, but a bunch of people were already camping out their hanami picnic spots. I would've killed for a few more days...
I enjoyed Rikugien so much at night that I wanted to take the opportunity see it during the day as well. It was a peaceful stroll through a well-maintained garden; barely even register the dead grass anymore.
And with that, it was off to Narita. I wanted to give Ippudo a second chance and tried the akamaru ramen this time - much better flavour, and the chashu was perfection. After that, just hitting up the souvenir shops and making one final konbini run for my airplane "lunch". (Everything was fantastic except for the weird-tasting grapefruit gummies.) Also shoutout to Shiroi Koibito, the biscuits have a delightful buttery texture and they pack a good number into the boxes.
And that's the end of this trip. I didn't really want to go on it but I'm glad I ultimately went. Japan just has this certain charm makes you temporarily forget your troubles because you're so filled with wonder by what you're experiencing. Will probably return much sooner next time, to see the autumn leaves, and/or eat my way through Hokkaido and make use of pass at Niseko. Or go back to Koyasan, still a magical place for me. So many possibilities.
Anyways, that's it. Sorry it got kinda long. Thanks for reading, if you got this far.
Edit: fixed some errors and added missing photos

~I'm very trustworthy - you can confide in me, and entrust your deepest secrets and I wont tell a soul.
~I'm a HUGE hopeless romantic, im old fashioned and will always try to impress you.
- I'm, a BIG softie even though I may look a smol bit intimidating, but I'd do just about anything to see you smile or laugh. And yes.., I do mean anything.
~I'm a big goof - I will get up to some silly shenanigans ALL the time, I will crack dumb jokes and send you memes and tik toks just to make you happy, even if its from across the room I'd wait to see your reaction lol.
~I'm extremely loyal, and would never even think of cheating.
~I will cook for you, and clean up too, even around the house, I'm very self productive and don't ask for much. Just don't forget to kiss the cook.
~I'd also love to just cuddle up and watch a movie or read a book together, anything to get us closer. Id try to take you out on dates whenever possible haha. I have a million SUPER romantic date ideas I have but have never had anyone interested enough in me to take out. Here's your chance ;)
~I will always want to share stuff I find interesting with you, and try to share every moment of every day with you. I'm not looking for someone who can only talk for a small amount of time, I want someone who's willing to put in all the effort I put into them back into me, it goes both ways. If I'm "with" someone you are my TOP priority nobody and nothing else would be. You would be the only person I'd truly want to talk to, so rest assured I would NEVER cheat, even more so because no one is interested in me - Hence why I'm here hahaha.
I'm sure there is more to me than this snippet but I cant think of more at the moment haha, so get to know me and find out more about me.
Some of my interests are: Engineering- I'm a nerd. I admit it. I love being technical and hands on, I love building things. All kinds of things, from furniture, machinery, and reverse engineering anything I find. I love learning how things work and trying to improve things.
Music - I prefer music with a very fast pace, or with some very meaningful lyrics I can relate to. I love to sing along to music and songs that have a deep meaning behind it I can sympathize with makes it all the better. Some bands I like are: Bad Omens, Beartooth, Demon Hunter, MIW, I9K - The list goes on. I'm a bit of a metalhead unfortunately.
TV Shows & Movies - I love watching shows, and I'd love to stream some shows and have some E-dates with you, to get to know you, or if you are close to me, maybe we could do it in person. Some shows I like or more of the Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Comedy, Action, stuff like: National Treasure, Halo, BattleBots, Rick and Morty, AHS, Anything Marvel or DC, The Witcher, Wednesday, The Sandman, The Magicians, The Umbrella Academy, ETC.
Gaming - Yes yes I know, Basic guy likes basic stuff. But gaming has been a thing for me since forever. I know most of you wont care or want to hear that, but I'll leave out the specifics on this part unless you are interested in that, MEGA Bonus points if you are.
Here's a lists of Cons to dating me-
~I'm not Ryan Reynolds. Disappointing, I know.
~I will fight you on what goes on pizza lol.
~I'm not rich.., Yet.
~I can't pronounce Worcestershire.
~I'm slightly forgetful, but with good reasoning.
~(Not really a con but- some might disagree) I still have ALL of my firsts, Do with that what you will c:
~I've got an endless pile of love and affection and no one to give it to! What a dilemma! Help me fix it?
Other than that I'll save the rest for a bit more of getting to know each other.
Here's a bit of what I'm looking in you:
~Preferably someone with lots of free time, and loves to chit chat. I'm seriously not interested in getting 1 message a day. Though I understand people get busy, I personally am not willing to try to learn about you and form something with 7 responses a week. Effort gets reciprocated and I appreciate the time you put in me.
~Physically: -I’m not personally attracted to anyone who’s “curvy/ chubby”, I apologize. Not a shallow thing, I just dont have the attraction chemical in my brain for that, I’m sorry. -If you’re shorter than me, thats a plus to me. -I love dimples, if you have those when you smile, bonus points 😊 - I’m not sure what else to put.., but as for nsfw wise find out😂
~I'm a sucker for a different accent other than American, and if you have an Posh English accent you have already won my heart.
~I'm also only really looking for someone within the ages of 18-35. I don't want anyone old enough to be my mom lol.
~I'd prefer (But not a must) people NOT on the other side of the world, as other time zones SUCK. I don't expect to find anyone who also has never had a boyfriend either, but that would be a real plus. I also don't mind a LDR, but I don't want that forever. But it gives us time to get to know each other.
But as for attributes I'm looking for in you:
~Someone who is above all else very very Loyal and would never cheat.
~Someone who is Honest, and will tell me the truth over a little white lie.
~Someone who is Kind & Caring, who'd constantly check on me, and accept me for who I am & help me improve day to day.
~Someone who is trustworthy, and I can count on to keep my secrets safe, or even just help me remember things.., I do tend to be somewhat forgetful.
~Someone who is very Patient and wants to see me succeed and will help me do so, just like I would help you. Even if its small day to day things, I would appreciate your company ANY time.
~I want a partner who is Affectionate, can reciprocate, and loves to snuggle and talk about their day, and what their interests are, and what makes them happy.
~Someone who can admit they get clingy or overprotective is a bonus.
~A partner with good communication is key, if something wrong we have to be able to talk about it.
~A partner who likes to game with me or at least watch me play would be a plus but not a requirement.
~Someone with a good sense of humor and like to joke around, I am a big goof after all and I love to joke around. Sending memes is always appreciated and good to cheer people up too!
~I'd prefer someone with the same music taste, but not a requirement, Plus if you wouldn't mind if I send you love songs occasionally that's a bonus, or sending me some back haha.
~Being willing to voice call is a must, Texting forever is not the way to go. I have to know what your voice is like haha, later on we can video call if you are comfortable with that. I prefer chatting on Discord because Reddit messages of any kind I'm sure you know are unreliable and sucky in general. So please send me your discord if you have one :)
~I would LOVE to see picture of your pets if you have any. Bonus points if it includes your beautiful self haha.
I'm sure there is more I'm looking for but I cant think of it right now haha, I will have to edit this when I think of it.
Please tell me about you as an opener! I told you a good bit about me, now its your turn haha.
Tell me some things like -
~What's your name?
~Where are you from?
~How old are you?
~What are your hobbies / interests?
~What about my post interested you?
~Where is my TV Remote?!
~Selfie? Pet pics?
~Hit me with your best joke or meme :)
~What's your favorite candy?
I'd LOVE to get to know you, and see where things go.
But yeah, I know it was long I'm sorry haha. Send me a message and lets get to know each other! :)

Jury Deliberations Day 3
Fans waited outside the courthouse in large numbers each day, waving placards, shouting and dancing.
Rev. Jesse Jackson arrived at the courthouse today to update the media and fans on Michael's well-being:
"[Michael Jackson] exudes a great sense of confidence in the jury as being fair ... Michael anxiously awaits the jury's verdict, but anticipates acquittal."
https://reddit.com/link/1da8y00/video/s1yh240nes4d1/player
Amidst speculation about Michael's health, his spokesperson said the he would continue to await the verdict at his Neverland Valley Ranch, an hour away.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department said an ambulance would be on standby outside the courthouse. Sources within the department said this was routine for events involving large crowds and had nothing to do with Jackson's health issues.
The role of jury foreperson has reportedly been filled by a retired teacher. During jury selection, he told attorneys he had no thoughts about Jackson:
"I came in with an open mind and I plan to keep it that way. I try not to put celebrities on a pedestal. I would look at him as just another person who needs a fair trial"
The 63-year-old Latino man had served as a high school counselor and attendance director.
"I was both the good guy and the bad guy."
He said he had no problems with government:
"I depend on them and hope they make the right decisions," although he did question U.S involvement in the Iraq and Vietnam wars.
Lawyers for a consortium of media outlets asked Judge Melville to release the verdict form provided to the jury and also to disclose the contents of any questions the jury asks.
They argued that the verdict form "establishes the framework for any verdict by the jury," and is a judicial record presumed to be public under the First Amendment and California law.
"Public access to the form now will enable the press to better understand and accurately report and explain the verdict when it is read in open court," the motion said.

2024.06.07 08:54 sniper1905 Who craves validation from white people more?

Just recently saw the video where Myron says the Klan was right about a lot of shit and we all know how much Walter likes them snow bunnies. So I had an epiphany in my mind, who craves validation from white people more?

2024.06.07 07:48 Atsuma_890 So…, where are they now?

I just got commented on an old video from Kunanii about the Bunnygif and Saruei issue. It got me thinking about a couple things
  1. Whatever happen to Bunny_Gif? I mean after being ostracized from the space for her basically being a bitch to others. Where did she go?
  2. Did Kage ever come back? If so, where and what is he doing? Since he treated Kenji like shit and was basically a “white knight” for his friend Dove.
  3. Then where is Dove now? same as above.
  4. Then finally, where did Yakirisu ever end up? After being once again called out for being an awful person, black mailed and so much more. She just dipped.
Why did this come to mind? I don’t know. I was mentioned in a comment about “Hey , this is a reminder to show you when Nijisanji was great”. As it was on a Bunny-Gif drama video, and we were talking about how shit was going down and that Nijisanji was in a good position during then…. Now, in 2 years. Has ruined their reputation.

2024.06.07 07:07 Stormlark83 Trip Reports [Busch Gardens Williamsburg] and [Kings Dominion]

Trip Reports [Busch Gardens Williamsburg] and [Kings Dominion]
I'm visiting my dad in Virginia and one of the things I really wanted to do was go to Busch Gardens. Last time I visited was in the 90's. We went a few weeks ago and I rode a rollercoaster for the first time as an adult. I did enjoy them as a kid, but I absolutely love these things now! After getting home from Busch Gardens I started watching videos and learning more about them and saw a few mentions of the Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion, another park not too far from here. So yesterday, we went there too.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg:
We went with my niece during the week at the end of May. It wasn't too crowded so a lot of the rides had practically no lines. Unfortunately my niece is NOT a fan of rollercoasters and my dad and I felt guilty making her wait by herself too often, even though she's 17. Because of this, we only rode four of them throughout the day.
Griffon: This was my first rollercoaster in nearly 30 years. I had no idea what it was going in, my dad just pointed out that there was no line as we were walking by and asked if I'd like to ride it. My dad wanted the front row and I definitely started regretting my decision on the lift hill, but the gimmick of being held over the drop made me laugh more than it scared me. The ride was pretty smooth and I laughed a LOT. Definitely recommend it to others.
Loch Ness Monster: I was really excited about this one going in because it was my favorite as a kid and I'd heard they recently did a lot of work on it. There was a little bit of a line, but only about 20 minutes, and largely that was because we decided to go for the front row again. They added a lot of fun story type stuff throughout the ride and the cave now has some screens inside. Unfortunately, it was still pretty rough on my head and neck even though they redid a lot of the track. It's still an older arrow coaster, after all.
Apollo's Chariot: I was a little scared going into this one because it was the only rollercoaster I remember not enjoying when I was a kid (too big of a drop). The main reason we rode is was the complete lack of line. I'm so glad we did. It was fantastic. So much airtime and extremely smooth. We decided to ride it again immediately after.
Pantheon: We kept seeing this one as we were walking around the park and had no idea what we were looking at. We'd never heard of a multi-launch coaster. We finally heard someone talking about it and were intrigued. There was a bit of a line again, but we still went for the front row. This one was my dad's favorite, and my second favorite. It wasn't quite as smooth as Apollo's Chariot, but going backwards and the little speed boost sections were a LOT of fun.
The Dark Koaster (not sure that's the right spelling) and Verbolten had the longest lines in the park, so we didn't ride them. I feel like that was a mistake now. We also completely missed Tempesto somehow. We wanted to ride Alpengeist but it wasn't open.
Kings Dominion:
Our entire goal was to ride the Intimidator 305 and as many other rollercoasters as possible. We didn't bring my niece. We went on a Wednesday, with some rain in the forecast. Our hope was that it wouldn't be quite as hot, maybe rain for an hour, and the park would be practically empty. That mostly worked out, although there was about 45 minutes where all the rides shut down due to lightning risk. Still a fantastic day.
Dominator: We rode this first and in the very front row. Unfortunately, it was more of a headbanger than I expected. We spent most of the ride trying to keep our heads still and failing. My dad said his favorite part was when it was over and we both said "never again." Not much more to say about it.
IntimidatoProject 305: Seems they're in between names right now, so the sign was different than what I saw in videos. There's no mention of Dale Earnheart and nothing saying "Intimidator." It's still the same ride however, and I can assure you, it's extremely intimidating to look at. My palms started sweating as we were walking up, and I started to regret every decision I'd ever made that lead me to that point.
The line wasn't too long, but it suddenly started pouring rain right before our turn. The operators said it was our decision whether or not to ride it in the rain. Basically it's still safe, but going 92 mph in the rain, especially in the front row, would hurt. We decided to do it anyway since we couldn't be sure the weather wouldn't get worse and possibly shut down the ride completely.
I've never felt like I was going to fall out backwards on a lift hill, but that's how steep this monster is. Didn't help that I was slippery in the rain, so I was actually pressed up against the shoulder restraints a bit on the ride up. I held my dad's hand and tried to focus on my feet. The drop was intense, but not as bad as it looked. My vision got spotty, then went out completely as we picked back up, then cleared at the crest of the second hill. At this point, the rain became the most notable factor, as it did indeed hurt a bit getting pelted in the face at that speed. When the ride ended, I started seeing spots again and it felt like my heart was trying to remember how to beat correctly. I felt like I'd just been run through a washing machine.
Unfortunately my phone had been in my dad's pocket that had a button and the button was not strong enough to hold through those turns. As they say, "The ride always wins." I let the operators know I'd lost my phone on the ride, and to my surprise, they actually said they walk out every night when the ride shuts down and look for lost items. They had me give them a description of the phone and told us to come back at 8 pm. We rode the Intimidator (or whatever you want to call it) three more times throughout the day, including in the front again, the very back, and the middle. My dad kept saying he could see my phone in the grass by one of the turns, and at the end of the day, by some miracle, they not only found it, but it was in perfect condition despite being dropped at 92 mph and rained on. I saw someone else getting their phone returned and it was completely smashed. Crazy.
Tumbili: I'm not sure exactly what to say about this ride except that it's very very short. I wanted to ride it because it was a 4D coaster and I've never even seen one before. It was fun, but a bit disorienting. I did laugh a lot though.
Reptilian: I rode in the back which is supposed to be the best experience. I think this one is more for the kids because there wasn't much to it. The speed picked up a little bit near the end, though.
Flight of Fear: This one was a surprise hit. I didn't know much going in. I just needed to get out of the heat and wanted an indoor ride for a change. I loved all the cool displays and the air conditioning felt fantastic. The operators were having a lot of fun too, giving fake countdowns and messing with people's heads on the launch. As we sat in our seats, I noticed the steep downward angle and remembered some of the videos I'd watched explaining how lap bars can hold you in even if the ride goes upside down and said to my dad, "I think this ride might have inversions." And boy, did it. My favorite part was definitely the launch though. I didn't expect to get the same stomach drop feeling simply from acceleration, but I definitely felt like some of my organs were left behind for a few seconds. It got a little rough near the end, but I really enjoyed this ride.
Racer 75: I've ridden this as a kid back when it was called the Rebel Yell and wanted to see what it was like as an adult. My dad didn't ride this one with me since he doesn't like wooden rollercoasters (too rough). I had a nice chat with the random stranger who sat with me and was pleasantly surprised by the drop. Nice airtime on those little hills too. It was a little shaky, but not bad for its age.
Twisted Timbers: I had to convince my dad that this one wasn't a typical wooden coaster and that it was considered many people's favorite from what I'd heard doing research and watching videos. I had high hopes for it because of all the praise and was a little worried it wouldn't live up to the hype. I was NOT disappointed however. This thing rocks! We rode it three times in a row since there was no line at all.
I had some trouble on my second ride though. My seatbelt buckle got wedged in between my thigh and the lap bar, so every time we popped up on those bunny hills, all my weight got thrown up against it, which hurt quite a bit. I developed a nasty bruise which is still sore. I was very careful on the third ride to make sure that didn't happen again. But yeah, I love this ride. The barrel roll drop is so much fun!
Grizzly: I remember enjoying this one as a kid, mostly for the scenery. I'd also heard they recently finished fixing it up to make things smoother. I was surprised my dad wanted to ride it with me despite me warning him that it would probably still be shaky as hell. And it definitely was. The first drop was pretty smooth, but the rest of the ride made me feel like I was riding a jackhammer.
Apple Zapple - The only one I didn't ride. It just didn't look like much and by that time, I was getting picky.

2024.06.07 07:05 CeIIuIose Cel Aria - The Tempter of Titans, Radiant Rogue of Romance, Celestial Conqueror of Hearts

"Here he is; Our Lovelorn Phantom, the Bewitching Blaze Survivor, Herald of the Heart and Phoenix of Passion. The Enigma of Eros, Cel Aria."
Bio
Name: Celestial "Cel" Amare Aria Date of Birth: June 6th
Age: 18 Gender: Male (He/Him/His)
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual Nationality: American
Race: Brazilian-Caucasian (French) Fatal Flaw: Wrath
Demigod Conundrums: ADHD and Dyslexia Hometown: Scarsdale, New York
His name was given to him by his mom. She told Cel that he would 'grow to shine brighter than the stars.' "Amare" means "Love" in Latin, it was given to him by his father for reasons unknown. Cel believes it serves as a reminder that "love" is always with him.
Family Members
Family Age Description Relationship
Father: Eros Old enough to steal your girl The god of Love, Desire, and Pleasure. Cel finally had the pleasure of meeting his father after falling into a coma. It goes without saying, but Cel loves him with all of his heart and wants to make him proud. Eros is proud that Cel is growing and loves him. He's even blessed Cel's relationship with Seth, if you can believe it! Their relationship is probably closer than most demigods with their immortal parents.
Mother: Andrea Aria-Almeida 45 An emergency room nurse practitioner. She looks no older than 25 and is one of the most gentle and caring women you'll ever meet. Her arms are open to all who are in need. Andrea always made time for Cel in his childhood. She is a strong woman, a First-Generation immigrant with a strong work ethic who taught her son to always be kind and thoughtful. She loves son and would move the Heavens and Earth for him if she could, and vice-versa.
Family is an important facet of life, especially to Cel. Once he learned the words 'mom' and 'dad' he began to daydream what it would be like to meet his own father. After talking to Eros he still wasn't satisfied and would give anything to talk with him again! He holds each of his family members in high regard and keeps in contact with them as much as he can! He consistently writes letters to his mom while at Camp and is planning to attend NYU in the Fall in part to stay close to her.
"Yeah, he's basically obsessed with me. Got him eating out of the palm of my hand." - Seth Westley
Friends/Relationships
Name Relationship Description
Seth Westley Boyfriend [Redacted]
David Ruiz Best Friend A friendship forged in the fires of love and war. That should be a metaphor, but David and Cel quite literally became friends through constant clashing of their respective powers in an effort to train. What began as a mentor-mentee relationship blossomed into a strong friendship that could last even a Styx Oath. Cel is so proud of the man that David has become and is so happy to call him his friend. He's had some pretty bad experience with mentors, and David made up for all of that. Together, with Jules, they make up 1/3 of Triple Threat.
Jules Morgan Best Friend2 It began on a fateful day when a motorcycle lunatic crashed into a tree and began crying over his lost love. Cel offered to show him around Camp and the rest is history. Jules has made Cel countless prototype weapons for testing. Some that work, others that don't, and many that probably violate some kind of international war laws. Cel has watched this guy grow (metaphorically, not literally) from a machine crazed sociopath into a machine crazed sociopath with a girlfriend. Any time with Jules is sure to be a riot, with a bunch of insults sprinkled in for good measure. With David, the three boys make up Triple Threat, their brotherhood.
Walker Marshall Aged (emphasis) Ally Both of these guys have been around for an insanely long time. Walker was at Camp Half-Blood before Cel even got there, so they've known each other for a while. Cel is trauma bonded to him after everything that happened with the Son of Metis (see; statues, Medusa, etc). He views Walker as a strong ally, and a loyal friend. They had their rough patches during the aftermath of the war over the throne of Olympus but all of that is water under the bridge now. It's hard to keep friends at Camp Half-Blood, people always come and go, sometimes never coming back. Cel is grateful for that constant southern drawl he knows is always around the corner at the Demeter cabin.
Sadira Andersen Budding Buddy This little one somehow managed her way into Cel's dreamscape after his mysterious three-month blip from reality. She saw deep cut secrets that Cel didn't share with the world. Trauma of his past that eats at him every day. The girl is the mediator and Cel wants her to focus on being a kid. They don't know each other well, but Sadira is definitely on Cel's radar. She may not know it, but he's looking out for her.
Quincy "Quinn" Rockford Crabby Comrade Quinn is an enigma to Cel. One moment, they're brash and abrasive like the back side of a sponge, the next a broken child trying to heal parental trauma. Cel gave Quinn a present for Christmas because he wanted to let them know they were seen. He let them know about the secret burrow of bunnies near the Eros cabin as well. Cel understands their abrasiveness and respects it, but also keeps his distance because of it. You can't help someone who doesn't want it, and Cel isn't going to drag himself through the thorns of Quinn's attitude until they're ready to open up. He's always there for the kid, though, they just need to say the word.
Amelia "Mel" Hayes Tattooed Twin Another friend as old as Cel's time at Camp. Amelia is a constant laugh, her personality is crazy and infectious. Together in a trip to Atlantic City they both shoplifted an entire store (love and humor) then proceeded to get tattoos together. If Cel needs a partner in crime, aside from Seth, he knows he can always count on Amelia for a good time. He loves hearing her shout insults from across the way and the roar in her iconic laugh. There's nothing better than a good laugh, after all.
Harper Morales Magazine Mate Since meeting Harper has been nothing but kind to Cel. She was there after the entire Capture the Flag debacle when Lupa Hines punched him in the face for his emotional assault. It was a rough time, what with Seth not talking to Cel and a lot of irritation at his powers going around, but Harper was such a breath of fresh air in that trying time. Her personality always has Cel feeling light and happy. He's constantly impressed by her work with The Camp Half-Blood Chronicle. He's even thought about stealing her for his own magazine.
Booker Fink Prankster Pal New friends never hurt, it was always an avenue for new beginnings. Cel first met Booker when he decided to throw lightning bolts at Cel's boyfriend. But- that was training, Cel couldn't blame him for anything that happened during training. They reunited at David's birthday party and seemed to hit it off in an smooth way. Booker seems to want to train with Cel. Cel wants to hear more about what past came with Booker. Who knows where their friendship will grow from here.
Caspian Kaito Nostalgic Neighbor These two have a complicated history. Within the first five minutes of Cel meeting Caspian he zapped him with love magic. A weird crush ensued shortly after... which made things awkward for the two boys who otherwise would've have an amazing friendship. They fought alongside each other in the War for Olympus when the Son of Metis returned, burying the hatchet and forging a friendship on its grave. Cel attended Cas' graduation and wished him well into adulthood. He often wonders how the guy is doing now...

Description:
"It's so easy to get lost in those red eyes." - David Ruiz
  • A visage of his father, some even may even for the other. Passerby who have met Cel describe him as one of the most striking people they've ever seen. The son of love turns heads wherever he walks. His face is a mastery of divine artisanship. Smooth, as if he was sculpted directly from marble by the great artisans of past with perfect symmetry. His tanned skin is soft, lacking any imperfections of the sort. His lips were the color of fresh rose petals and give way to the most illuminating, tantalizing grin some may ever see. It casts an inviting, enticing light on any who lay their eyes on him and held the power to warm the coldest of hearts and disarm the fiercest foes. This smile is both mischievous and sincere, imbued with a flirtatious charm so infectious that you can't help but smile back. His most captivating feature, though, are his deep red eyes. Intensely red like the embers of a dying star or the last traces of a sunset dipped in fire. A color so deep its like every valentine in the world was drained and distilled into one vibrant mixture. These eyes are a paradox of loving warmth and imminent danger, smoldering with unimaginable depth that seems to dip into the very soul of whoever Cel casts his gaze upon. Half-lidded and flirtatious, it is a gaze so hypnotic that sometimes the entire world falls away and you become the sole focus of his universe. His hair is a cascade of silky strands the color of valentines chocolate. A strand never out of place, always appearing painstakingly styled yet moving effortlessly with Cel's every action. It framed his face perfectly, accentuating each and every feature to bring it to life. He stands tall, exuding a presence that commands attention and respect. His body is sculpted with lean, defined muscles that speak of agility and strength, a testament to his prowess in battle and his divine heritage. Each movement he makes is fluid and graceful, a dance of power and elegance that mesmerizes all who watch him. His hands are both delicate and strong, with long, tapered fingers that move with an almost magical grace. Whether he's wielding a weapon or simply reaching out to a friend, his movements are always precise and elegant, hinting at his extraordinary control and dexterity. Those who get close enough to him may even notice he smells faintly of chocolate. Cel Aria is a intoxicating blend of divine beauty and otherworldly charm, a welcoming smile that leaves everyone who crosses his past feeling uplifted. A demigod whose appearance and presence leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who encounter him.
  • In the past Cel never cared much for his attire. As he's grown and weaved his way through the life, he gained an increased interest in the world of fashion. Now his closet is nearly bursting at the seams with clothes of each and every category, from thrift store to designer boutique, and even some from the bottom of a dumpster. He often opts for a comfortable, yet stylish outfit in his day-to-day. However, finding Cel wandering the campgrounds in sweatpants or a workout outfit is far from uncommon. Even if he has become somewhat of a fashionista, nothing beats the classics.

Outfits
Equipment/Accessories:
  • Amare and Virtus: Twin-knives enchanted by Brandon to turn invisible whenever Cel does. Sadly, the knives only stay invisible when they're in his hands. Whenever they aren't in use, they appear as beaded bracelets on his wrists.
  • Eros' Ring: A ring given to Cel by Eros. It's now Cel's most prized possession as it was given to him straight off of his father's hand. It's rose gold with grey in the middle and fits Cel's ring finger perfectly.
  • Heart-Breaker: Cel's celestial bronze sword with a small, ring shaped hole through the base. A normal sword from the armory that doubles as a ring in its dormant form. When Cel needs to change between the forms, he flips ring to make it into a sword. To go back to ring form, he slides his finger through the hole at the base.
  • Heart-Seeker: A gift from Cel's friend Jules. It's a simple compound bow with a matching a magical bracelet. It's mystical gimmick is that the arrows it fires home in on targets. The lock on mechanism is through the bracelet, which cools slightly on Cel's wrist once he finds a target. It's dormant form is an bow shaped charm that hands from the bracelet. It's activated by pulling the charm off the bracelet.
  • Boots of Aria: Greaves gifted to Cel by Simon. When he crouches, his jump gets exponentially stronger. When jumping from a full crouch he can jump 6 feet in the air! ___ # Abilities and Skillset
"I hear the training dummies actually line up to be his target." - Harper Morales
Abilities:
Domain:
  • Amokinesis - "Love's Puppeteer" - The ability to manipulate a target's emotions, specific to the domain of the user's godrent. (For Eros - Love Manipulation/Amokinesis).
    • This is Cel's bread and butter ability. As the son of Eros, Cel has a great deal of control over his father's domain. He is incredibly proficient with his amokinesis and can manipulate a person's love and their desires to fold to his whims.. From giving them a hormonal overload, to enhancing their attraction, even turning a flicker of interest in a person to an inferno of passion or removing a persons will to fight, all are possible with the power of love.
  • Emotional Fortitude - "Sanctuary of the Mind" - A trait where some children of Emotional gods are immune to magical attempts at changing or manipulating their emotional and mental ability. This does not mean demigods with this trait are immune to non-magical means, however. With enough experience, users can share this immunity with others—one other for intermediate users, and two others for masters.
    • An evolution of Cel's amokinetic powers. His familiarity with the manipulation of emotions has lead to him becoming immune to magical attempts to mystify his mind. Tough luck to anybody who wanted revenge.
  • Scent Manipulation - "Essence Weaver" - The ability to manipulate fragrances. Although beginners are only capable of dissipating or spreading a smell, intermediate users are capable of manipulating their own scent to mimic fragrances they have encountered previously. Many users have been observed using this power for stealth and concealment, to avoid alerting wild animals when hunting, to confuse monsters in combat, and to segregate waste more efficiently. Masters of this ability have been known to mimic powerful and exotic smells, like those associated with monsters. That said, these fragrances are approximations at best and cannot be used to copy the unique scent of an individual.
    • This is a new one for Cel. The ability to manipulate his own smell and the smells around him is odd, a foreign ability. He's not sure how it manifested, but is grateful to his father for the blessing. Hopefully Cel will begin to gain a master over it soon.
Godrent Minor:
  • Summon Bow and Arrows - "Archer's Call" -The ability to summon a bow and a quiver of arrows. The user can produce up to 10 of arrows at any given time, but they are fragile. After 30 minutes (5 turns), they will dissolve and leave no trace. Though made of iron and wood, these weapons are still capable of slaying monsters.
    • When Cel focuses he can summon a bow into his hands or arrows nocked into his bowstring. He likes to think of it as a blessing, or allowance, from his dad. It really comes in handy in a pinch!
  • Arrow Enchantment - "Cupid's Quill" - The ability to enchant an arrow such that it can induce a particular emotion in the target. The arrow appears gold if imbued with love magic, and it appears leaden if imbued with apathy magic. When a person is hit by these arrows they do not sustain any physical damage, although they will still feel pain from the impact. The affect fades after a small period. If the arrows fails to meet a target it causes a small explosion.
    • A new gift from Eros which allows Cel to imbue his amokinetic powers into arrows. This allows Cel a new outlet for utilizing his emotional powers to incapacitate enemies without expending energy.
Godrent Major:
  • Invisibility\* - "Vanishing Act" - The ability to turn invisible, including one's attire and held items.
    • The most iconic ability in Cel's arsenal and, arguably, one of the most powerful. Countless mischievous acts have been made possible because of the invisible man. Being able to disappear has turned Cel into a deadly stealth fighter.
  • Sensory inhibition - "Sensory Saboteur" - The ability to inhibit the senses of a target. Should this effect take hold, it will wear off after 12 minutes (2 turns).Although this power is most associated with temporary blindness, other symptoms include dampened hearing, clogged noses, etc.
    • Cel's ability to temporarily blind his foes has grown to now impair other senses. While stealing sight is the easiest for him to do, Cel is slowly learning and becoming more comfortable with mangling the other senses of his opponents. He hopes to master the sense of hearing next.
* Denotes modmail/custom power.
“Uh, what do you want me to say about him again?” - Booker Fink
Skillset
  • Gymnastics: Cel was in gymnastics for a few years when he was younger. He can still do a backflip! This helps him do acrobatic movements while he fights.
  • Knifework: Playing with knives is generally frowned upon, but anything goes at Camp Half-Blood. Cel has become incredibly skilled with dual-wielding knives, as well as throwing knives. Practice makes perfect! and, while Cel may not be perfect, he has definitely improved over time. He can carve nearly anything!
  • Swordsmanship: Cel has added sword play to his repertoire of fighting skills. While he is no master, Cel is definitely able to hold his own with a blade, even against the likes of David Ruiz.
  • Archery: Cel is a natural archer! His aim is perfect and he can make some of the most difficult shots look easy. A bow is definitely the weapon that Cel finds the most comfortable in his hands.
  • Basketball: Not pro-level, but Cel isn't bad. Basketball is his favorite pastime outside of training and video games in his cabin. He'd always dreamed of playing varsity basketball in high school and achieved it just this past year,
  • Fashion: Cel has gained an eye for clothes. He enjoys perusing catalogs and store windows, looking for the next exciting piece to add to his collection. ___ # Personal Information
"Cel doesn't need to flirt; he just breathes and people fall head over heels for him. It's ridiculous." - Amelia Hayes
Personality:
Where the was once uncertainty masked in the frame of an insecure kid there is now a confident, strong young man. Cel has come into his own, accepted his divine heritage, and found confidence in who he is. He stands tall and proud, his head held high with a smile and light that could rival the sun. He's playful, flirtatious, even. Talking in smooth tones that could soften even the coarsest personalities. Cel enjoys having fun conversations with friends. He'll talk animatedly about subjects for hours with those he's close to.
His mischievous smile isn't just for show. Cel enjoys finding fun things to do that may not necessarily be the best. A trait he gained from his father, who was known for causing lots of mischief. (Looking at half the myths about Zeus' affairs). If someone suggests a midnight snack run, Cel will offer to lead the charge (invisibility does come in handy).
Never one to shy away from a challenge. He has been known to get into trouble with his fellow campers for taking things (in their opinion, of course) a bit too far in friendly camp games. Cel is competitive when it counts, but never a sore loser. He loves when the people close to him are having a good time. Cel is the life of the party, and often the planner. Gatherings with those he's close with are some of the most joyous moments for the son of Eros. Nothing is better than having you friends around.
His friends are regarded with the utmost care. When Cel loves someone, he truly does and tries his best to be there for them in any way. New people and new friends are always something Cel looks for. He is personable, always finding ways to make the person he is talking to feel like they are his entire focal point for the time they are together. When faced with a problem, Cel no longer will shy away from straight-up confrontation, preferring to handle issues outright then letting them stew into an even more poisonous problem.
"One time, he punched me in the face." - Quincy Rockford
Cel's Spotify Playlists:
"One time he rescued me from the wreckage of a burning bike, and the bike was only the second hottest thing there." - Jules Morgan
Fun Facts
  • Cel is ambidextrous because he broke his arm when he was 7.
  • He smells somewhat like decadent chocolate.
  • When Cel blushes his face doesn't get red, however his eyes turn light pink!
  • If he was going to eat his last meal on death row, Cel would want a Churrasco style Brazilian steak dinner.
  • Cel is fluent in Portuguese (as well as French due to his divine heritage).
  • There is a birthmark shaped like a 'fat duck' (according to young Cel) on the back of his armpit.
  • He named his dog 'Bowser' because he wasn't allowed to play Mario as a kid.
  • Before a basketball game Cel has a habit of tapping his shoes together twice like in the Wizard of Oz. He also won't buy any basketball shoes other than red ones.
  • Cel's nerdy micro-obsession is the history of Cleopatra and her love life. ___ # Backstory
"Determined, strong... very kind. You can count on him to have your back, and that... means a lot." - Sadira Andersen
When Cel was born and Eros subsequently had to leave Andrea alone to raise a child on her own, his mother made it her mission to make sure her son knew he was loved. His childhood was relatively normal. No monsters followed him around and Cel found that he had a lot of opportunities afforded to him, more than other kids. Teachers always said he was such a joy to have in class and the other kids seemed to be drawn to him, wanting to be his friend.
As Cel found his way to Camp Half-Blood, he was immediately swept up into countless events. His first experience with true danger was in The Olympics where Cel was tasked with venturing to the underworld and capturing Cerberus, the guard dog of Hades. His group failed the task and one of his former friends was cursed by the river god, Acheron, in exchange for their safe return home. This event proved to Cel just how weak he was, and just how easy it was to die trying to play the hero when you could barely grasp how to use your powers. Cel swore that he wouldn't allow himself to be that weak any longer and sought to grow stronger. He found himself training under one of the most sadistic beings at Camp Half-Blood, the former Hades counselor Derek Ward. For some reason, Ward had an intense dislike for the son of Eros, but he trained him nonetheless. It was brutal, Cel almost died a few times, but it definitely turned him into a stronger person.
The first test of Cel's resolve as a hero came when he found himself on a quest to Ikaria in order to find the entrance to the newly reopened labyrinth. Upon their arrival, many things happened including Cel yelling at the guide sent to them by Pasiphae, goddess of the maze. This led to his group having to venture into Ikaria on their own to find the entrance of the maze. The trio found their way to the junkyard of Hephaestus where Talos tried to kill their party. With help from the luck-empowered Felix Branwen, Cel was able to shoot an arrow directly into Talos' control panel, stalling the automation to give his fellow quester's enough time to run into the labyrinth for safety. Cel, however, was burned alive by the automations fire where he was sent into a magical coma and confronted by Bellerophon. A deal was made between the forces of Pasiphae and Cel, where he swore a Styx Oath of fealty to them in exchange for them healing the burned Son of Eros. However, some good did come from this coma as Cel was finally able to meet his father. It was, quite literally, the greatest moment of his life.
After arriving back at Camp, a whirlwind of events happened. Camp was attacked by statues, Zeus cursed the Apollo campers, and Seth charmed his way into becoming Cel's boyfriend. Eventually, life settled down and everything went back to business as usual. Life, it seemed, would remain calm. But demigods never held calm for long.
Cel enjoyed a long period of peace without much happening. He met David and Jules and the trio instantly became close. They went on some jobs together, Cel did some on his own. He and Seth enjoyed each other's company daily. Camp Games were quite fun, even if they did sometimes end in a loss and with you getting socked in the face by a scorned rival. Overall, though, Cel didn't have much turbulence in the time before his senior year. That is until he accepted a job to investigate an anomaly. Together, with David and Ciara, Cel ventured into the unknown and the trio disappeared for a three month long blip with no explanation. When they returned with no explanation, turmoil hit Cel's relationship. He and Seth suddenly found themselves at opposite ends of a seemingly endless chasm. None of Cel's friends were able to offer him any consolation for what happened, Cel's own brothers even ignored his problems. Eros, for the third time in Cel's life, met him and gave him his blessing. He assured Cel that everything would end up all right, that there was beauty even in the pain life brought. So, Cel left Camp and returned for his senior year. He accomplished his dream of playing for the varsity basketball team, established a fashion magazine with his friends, and got up to some of your average demigodly shenanigans (near expulsion, anyone).

Now

It was odd spending his birthday in New Argos, definitely not how Cel envisioned his eighteenth. When Cel thought of eighteen he saw a massive party with his friends on the beach, Seth at his side with loud music and fun outfits. They'd all dance and eat some of Cel's favorite foods, tearing it up all night until the sun came back into the sky. New Argos was a far cry from the beach at Camp Half-Blood. Some of his friends weren't even there to help celebrate. So, yeah, it wasn't ideal. But Cel was going to make the most of it.
He gave invites to every camper that came to New Argos for the games, no room for discriminating between guests when the pickings were slim. It was going to be a party at New Argos' version of Central Park. As a New Yorker, Cel found the park to be less cool than the real thing, but it would have to do for now. Some decorations were set out on tables, pizza boxes were stacked high, and games borrowed from Harper's sleepover available for play. Cel wasn't dressed in anything super flashy, a simple 'Bluey' themed oversized t-shirt and black shorts. He wasn't worried about looks tonight, all he wanted was to have a good time.
A large speaker was blasting his favorite tunes as Cel waited for the guests to show up. Hopefully they would, nobody wants to spend their birthday party alone!

2024.06.07 04:17 edenkatja Your Favorite Villain...

...is my favorite villain 😎☕
I was perusing my YouTube subs and stumbled across an all too familiar thumbnail. We can't post pictures of any kind without a series of false copyright claims and accusations of harassment from Jason's current wife and her Peep-bedazzled other-other half, so I will illustrate in a way we can all understand:
👁️ 🐽 👁️
Anyway, it's a short watch consisting of Mrs. Forster telling anyone who's still watching that she 'can teach you how to take these Reddit pages down' and bemoaning how crazy it is that (after urging her increasingly skeptical audience to pull her publicly available paperwork) people pulled her publicly available paperwork GASP
Oh, sure, people dug into her juvenile records as well, but only to see if maybe that was part of the several years of time she (falsely, according to her own publicly available papers) claimed to have done in several YouTube videos and personal bios across the internet.
So I'm just gonna leave these here.
The First Amendment according to Cornell Law School
What is Copyright as cited on a US government website
And to correct Mrs. Forster's narrative that she was threatened with violence, it was actually a certain bunny-stamped housemate of hers who threatened to track IP's and acquire floorplans of anyone exercising their first amendment rights to freedom of expression via an ill-advised TikTok. Maybe the original clip has been erased, but as Mrs. Forster loves to remind us, The Truth Never Dies -and neither does the internet 🥝

You Do Not Talk About Fight Club: Rabbits and the Bonobo Masturbation Society

What a High Value Man is and is Not

What is an Alpha Male? What is a high value man? What should a man do? These questions or some variations are constantly asked on these forums. All valid questions but they miss the point. Men who know the answers to these questions learned but not by asking. Another common question is: what is the meaning of life? We think we want to know the answer to such question, but asking is pointless. While a high value man can be many things and has various good qualities, I argue that silence and action separate the man that has frame (read Alpha Bunny) from the coomer Betas (Chimps that Simp).
Behind the Rabbit? No, It is the Rabbit!

Why use Rabbits and Monkeys?

I could talk about how being a high value man involves being the leader of the pack, an Alpha wolf; perhaps I can conjure images of a nomadic lion, but that is dated. So, for the sake of novelty, I will talk about the redpill qualities you can learn from rabbits and the lessons to avoid from monkeys.

When people think high value or Alpha what comes to mind? That’s right, most definitely not a Rabbit. I believe that the frisky little bastards have some lessons to teach us; in fact modern men can learn a lot from Rabbits. Rabbits have many good qualities, Rabbits are pretty chill, they mind their own business and they are not afraid of their own sexuality, I am talking to you nice guys. Rabbits can also be brutal and have been known to dwell in caves surrounded by bones. But the #1 quality rabbits have over other animals frequently mentioned in redpill discussions is: Silence. Knowing when to shut the fuck up (STFU) is a very valuable skill. So, what does STFU have to do with being a high value man? Simply put its fight club. The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about fight club. The Second rule is: You do not talk about fight club. Over the years men have had different ideas over what this means. I believe it means something like this: Fight Club is not something you talk about; it is something you do.
“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.” Marcus Aurelius’

Silence, Stoicism and the Way of Bunny

Talking and not doing is antithetical to our purposes. If so then silence and action will do. For some insight we shall consider the stoics. Stoicism can be summed up in the serenity prayer.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Recognize and take action. Among the observations the stoics made on human nature, was the importance of shutting up. Something happens when people speak, especially about the things they are going to do. Speaking about your future plans kills your stride. You are less likely to do the thing you talk about doing; New year’s resolutions anyone? So, noticing this pattern some of the stoics came up with the practice of taking vows of silence. These vows were taken for a number of reasons, but the point was that the man vowed not to speak until he had accomplished whatever goal he set for himself. The movie Acts of Vengeance illustrates this point well. In the movie the main character’s family is murdered, he vows to himself not to speak until he has captured his family’s killer. And while the story is an extreme example there are lessons that can be learned. I am not suggesting that you take a vow of silence but that there are benefits to guarding your words.
I will by no means create an exhaustive list on the virtues of silence, but for the purposes of business and game, keeping silence prevents people from reading you. You become more mysterious. In the absence of explicit words from you, people will start imagining all sorts of things about you. In business you do not tell your competitors, about your plans less they should sabotage you. Try telling your boss that you are putting in applications for other jobs, see how that goes. While it is a good practice to keep your options open, talking about it is foolish. Another thing you don’t do is explain to your wife or girlfriend about all your red pill lessons and theory; try telling your woman I am sure she will be thrilled!... Not. This is shooting yourself in the foot, remember women want you to “just get it.” If you talk about literature and videos on how you are learning to man up, your woman, family and friends will doubt your authenticity.
Rabbits can teach us a lot here. For example, if a woman were to ask a rabbit to explain what redpill means (and make the rabbit lose frame) do you know what a rabbit would do? That’s right STFU! A rabbit would disregard thots! You might be surprised that beyond Stoicism rabbits also practice zen. Rabbits have frame. They do not ask for permission, they just do. We know about rabbits’ propensity for getting it on, they are bold and unashamed. Hence a good action shall be called the way of the bunny.
Now here comes the Chimps! A chimp is reasonably intelligent but that is his downfall. When a woman ask the chimp to explain itself, do you know what it does? That’s right it speaks or it thinks it does. But what actually comes out is a bunch of random noise. That is how your explanations shall be perceived, as a bunch of nonsense. And your woman is not impressed the by noised that come out of your mouth hole, rather she looks at you as the stupid too clever for his own good monkey you are! So shut your stupid monkey mouth and learn the way of bunny.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. Proverbs 29:11

Why you do not shut up

Why is it that you feel the need to explain and justify yourself whenever someone question you? Simply put, its validation. Go about your mission whatever that is at the moment, and don’t talk about it. If you are fat and started losing weight, don’t tell your girlfriend; keep pumping iron bro, and make those sweat puddles bigger! Look at you, you took out the trash, now go tell your wife (read mommy) so she can tell you what a big boy you are! That you feel the need to tell someone is asking for permission. A man who seeks permission is not capable of leading others. I am not going to go too much into mental point of origin, but shutting up, helps you become more attractive. Not seeking approval and validation is attractive, and not unattractive. If you can learn to be silent, and not seek approval, you will do well but remember silence is a means to an end. What that end is, well that’s for you to decide. Whatever goal you seek must be geared to action. If you do not take action, your mind will stagnate and begin pointless pondering.

What is the meaning of life?
Is a pointless question. It is a question asked by those that are not living. Remember, to be men of action. If you are taking action and moving forward, you won’t have time to ask yourself such questions. What’s that? Are you thinking? Quee in the Chimps ! Chimps in captivity masturbate, chimps in the wild do not. Chimps in their natural habitat are busy hunting, mating, jockeying for status, and living; Chimps do not have time to engage in pointless activities. I am not saying there is no time for introspection and thinking, quite the opposite. But don’t let overthinking paralyze you! Think, and then do. A decent plant diligently carried out is better than a perfect plan applies sporadically.
The question: what is the meaning of life is very limited, it’s as if there was one thing you were born for, this is false. You were born to do many things. The Author of Mans Search for Meaning put it this way, instead of asking what is the meaning of life, as if life owes you something; ask what does life want of me? And what life wants from you is dependent upon that moment in time. When you are making love to your woman, your purpose in life is to be present and enjoy! When you are in war, your purpose is to kill your enemy. When you are working, work; when you are playing play. You will do many different things in life depending on your interest and propensities. There is no one thing. So do not engage in overthinking. What does life want from you at this moment? It is that simple. To overthink is, to not live. You must be present and answer the question in the now.
Are you a monkey? A Monkey in Captivity?!

Self-improvement is masturbation”-Tyler Durden.

Some of you may be monkeys! Why? Because of the inability to quiet yourself. Because of the inability to plan for the future. Because of instant gratification. And because you engage in endless masturbation. Not only physically as in choking the chicken. But also, mentally. Reading and searching for information without application is mental masturbation. Learning without action is pointless. Without struggle, without purpose we devolve into a Bonobo masturbation society! Don’t be Simp or a Chimp. As men we are what we do. You don’t need permission to do what you need to. You don’t need to know the purpose of your life to start living. The ironic thing is that as you start living a lot of questions will answer themselves. This is why high value men dont need to ask these questions. They already answered them by living. A high value man does. Be like the Rabbit and Don’t talk about fight club. The point of the stoics, and the serenity prayer is not introspection (read masturbation) but the courage to change the things you can.

“I hate every ape I see, From chimpan-a to chimpan-z,
No, you'll never make a monkey out of me.” The Simpson, song Dr Zaius

2024.06.06 15:39 EntrepreneurInside90 I don't know when was the moment that people started saying that movement was a deal breaker on an Arcade Shooter.

Movement is one of the few things a player can learn on each different shooter, unlike the mechanical skill of Aim and Shoot which is translated to most of the shooters.
I used to play Gears, there the movement was all around Wall Bounce so that's a that's a thing that I had to learn in order to be competent at the game, Titanfall 2 with a really crazy movement and a lot of verticality requiring a lot of tracking, Battlefield with each game having a different set of moves, its not the same moving on Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 2042, R6S, CS, Apex, PUBG, Doom, Halo, each of those game with really different sets of movements.
The thing is:
On every single one of those games I already had a good performance when I started to play them, why?, because I already had the skill to Move The Mouse and Shoot, a Mechanical Skill that can be translated to any shooter as long as you know your Sensitivity (I just changed mine from 20/360 to 32/360 so I'm kinda missing some bullets on the clip), but that's the point.

What else you have to learn when you get a new shooter?,

Its sad how the thing that people is more mad about is not the ''SKILL'' of pressing a Button and covering a big area with a insta kill explosion that also negates that area for a while but its the fact that they have to learn something new.

Its like they don't want to learn, they put as an excuse the fact that they get killed by someone jumping, but tell you what, even with a more boots on the ground movement where players wont be able to move you'll still loose those gunfights, why? Because that's what competent players do, learn how they can exploit that kind of movement.

Devs Remove Bunny Hop and Air Strafing?, well then Competent Players will learn how to play more around corners to always have a cover and people will get mad about getting killed by someone Corner Picking constantly when they are the ones running around like Headless Chickens with no idea what to do.

Movement on this game its really fun once you start to put it on practice.

What I'm trying to say is, stop getting mad about it and put a little more effort on learning, or just wait till competitive comes out and stay on Copper with people that also doesn't know how to jump.

2024.06.06 14:31 babyy_catt Any Advice?

I'm 17 and going to my first Green Day concert in August for my birthday. Is there anything I should be aware of or do to prepare? Like I was watching a video from a concert a couple months ago and it started with Punk Bunny coming out and everyone cheering and singing something. What does that mean and does it happen everytime? I guess I just don't want to be completely out of the loop!

I adopted my sweet bun almost four years ago. Actually, he was a very unexpected gift in the hight of COVID from my mother who saw I was struggling with depression. When I first got him, I’ll admit I did not want him, but the more I was around him and the more I looked into rabbit care, I knew I needed to try my best to provide him with the best life. I learned a lot from many YouTube videos and online articles, while also discovering the epidemic that is those giving up innocent rabbits because they were unprepared for the type of care required. My sweet boy is free roam, has endless toys, I have an emergency kit stocked to the brim, and he binkies almost every morning and every night. I, on the other hand, would not be binkie-ing if I even was capable of such a thing. Instead, I am experiencing a lot of anxiety and have since day one with him.
I stress over him. He seems to be prone to GI stasis as he’s gotten it about six times. During the second year of his life, he even refused to drink water following his first experience with stasis and was hooked on critical care for 11 months. Yes - that’s 11 whole months without drinking from his water bowl. Buying critical care twice a month was beyond expensive but was the only way for him to get his water intake. For further context, I live on a small island and there are no exotic vets. The closest is six hours away. Luckily, I have a vet who does see rabbits but I know Googling goes on behind the scenes. I once called the emergency line after hours and was literally told that I likely know more about rabbits than any vet that’s on call so I hung up and luckily nursed him back to health (this was his second time with GI stasis).
Back to my anxiety; I’m 27, I have just enough of an income to support him, but I find myself missing prime years of my life. There is no one and I mean LITERALLY NO ONE locally that watches rabbits. This means vacations are not an option for me. When I have to travel overnight for work I get sick to my stomach that he’s going to get depressed or go into stasis or something else and I won’t be there to save him on time. I feel restricted and I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps my life will begin in my mid thirties when he may not be around any more. I recognize this is rather morbid, but I’m currently grieving the prime of my life in order to give the best life possible to my bunny. My friends are all travelling and making memories while I stay behind and act as if the home body life is the one of my dreams. I’m grateful for my boyfriend who understands my stress and supports me best he can as he’s been there through thick and thin with my bunny and I. Yet, that is another pain point, we have not traveled together since 2019 - not even a road trip.
I have thought about getting a second rabbit, but I fear that if the bonding process doesn’t work, I’ll have to send the poor bun back to where they came from and that just breaks my heart. Additionally, I don’t have a large apartment which does add to the stress of bonding. Anyway, I’m just curious if anyone else feels this type of pressure to be perfect for their rabbit(s) to the point where you sacrifice your own freedom, desires, and truthfully, sometimes happiness.
I’d just like to add: I could NEVER part ways with him. Even though my life is not being lived to its fullest potential at the moment, he is happy. He is full of joy. And he never has to worry about being cold, alone, or unloved. I adore him so much and I’m grateful to be able to give a rabbit the life and love he deserves.

2024.06.06 05:04 DeathCaptainBaker AI Zombie Story - Chapter 3: Riverdale Falls

By mid-afternoon, Riverdale was descending into complete anarchy. What started as a few isolated cases at the hospital had erupted into a full-blown epidemic sweeping through the town like a virulent wildfire.
The first wake-up call that this was no longer merely a contained medical situation came just after lunch. That's when the first panicked calls started pouring into the emergency dispatch center from all corners of Riverdale - disturbing reports of formerly healthy friends, neighbors and loved ones turning unaccountably violent and delirious.
At first, police were able to uphold some semblance of order, separating the afflicted from the uninfected population and transporting the disturbed individuals to designated quarantine sectors. But it quickly became apparent that whatever this nightmarish plague was, it spread with catastrophic speed.
Within a couple hours, those original quarantine zones were overrun as once-lucid people transformed into raving, feral shadows of their former selves. Law enforcement's resources rapidly became overwhelmed by the escalating madness.
I'll never forget the gut-churning sense of dread and gravity that settled over me when the first responders started going silent over the radio channels, their frantic last transmissions devolving into sheer panic and acts of unspeakable violence before abruptly cutting off.
Officer down. Backup requested immediately. Civilian casualties. Shots fired.
Those dreaded radio calls just kept on coming and coming, each one more harrowing than the last as the situation spiraled further out of control.
That's about the time the good citizens of Riverdale took the prudent course of action and got the hell off the streets. Doors and windows were barricaded, families huddled in shelters, eyes glued to television screens as the first disturbing images of the unfolding pandemonium began hitting the airwaves.
I'll never forget the shocking footage of that SWAT team trying in vain to defuse a suburban hostage crisis two blocks from my own home. One second, the camera focused on the tense standoff outside a quaint ranch home with a neatly manicured lawn. The next, all hell broke loose in a blur of gunfire, blood and inhuman roars as the deranged hostage-takers turned on the officers with teeth and nails.
The video feed cut out just as one of those poor boys in blue crumpled to the ground, a demented assailant crouched over his still form, clawing and pummeling with unfathomable savagery.
Jesus...I remember gasping aloud as the sickening realization hit me like a freight train - we weren't just dealing with some kind of rabies or drug-fueled psychosis here. This was far, far worse.
These things, these people...they were becoming more beast than human, guided by the basest predatory instincts. It wasn't just mindless violence they craved - it was the sheer ecstasy of the hunt, the thrill of the kill. The rapturous frenzy of consumption that both terrified and entranced them.
Zombies. Fucking zombies.
Suddenly, all those campy horror flicks and apocalyptic sci-fi novels didn't seem so far-fetched anymore. I damn near pissed myself when it hit me - the sleepy town of Riverdale was under full-scale attack by the living dead.
Those were the last coherent thoughts I can really remember having that first nightmarish day, besides getting out my buck knife and baseball bat to join the other stragglers fortifying our positions around the hospital. Not that I held out much hope for any of us making it through the night.
Because that's when THEY came streaming out of the twilight shadows by the hundreds - former neighbors and friends reduced to soulless, snarling husks fixated solely on satiating their bottomless hunger for human flesh...and we were the menu du jour.

2024.06.06 02:46 imthedrama1 30 [F4M] South Carolina or USA - You left the light on when I had a broken heart

PLEASEEE be over your ex before messaging me.
PLEASE be 28 or older. Do not send pointless messages saying "Good luck" or "I wish I were single". Do not message me if you're taken.
Facts about moi:
* I work with smol humans for a living.
* You don't have to WANT kids of your own. But, if you don't like kids...you're not for me.
* One of my favorite past-time activities is trying to put together legos high.
* Listening to music high is also an experience (I do Delta since that’s what’s legal. If you’re anti-weed, then we aren’t a match. I don’t do it allll the time. I’m too broke for that life).
* Seriously, doesn't music sound different when you're high?
* Green Day used to be one of my favorite bands. I started listening to them when I wad ten.
* The obsession was real. My ten-year-old self had a binder about the members with all the facts and pictures of Billie (Yes, I was a weird child). I don´t listen to them much anymore. That was practice for my obsession with Panic! at the Disco. I only like one album, though.
* Now my obsession is more towards bands like AVOID, Dayseeker, The Used, etc. I'll listen to the same songs over and over until I can't stand it. I even have a Playlist for that. I recently found a band called Dark Devine, and I dig them.
* I love going to concerts. So, it'd be cool if you liked them too.
* I love love love traveling.
* Please don’t be a giant grouch on vacations. Coworkers complain about their spouse being a shitbird on trips. No thanks.
* I also like staying in, of course! But I’m not a homebody. I struggled during the COVID shutdown. Being cooped up SUCKED. I do not want to beg you to get out of the house. Again, I am NOT a homebody. If you are, we are not a match.
* I have a spicy brain.
* I’m super duper ADHD. Fun times! I’m also like an anxious puppy. Woop woop.
* The most organized thing in my life is this list
* The Office and Parks and Rec are two of my favorite shows. I also like Bob’s Burgers and Avatar The Last Airbender.
* I don't watch a whole lot of TV, honestly...my ADHD brain enjoys the short videos on Tiktok.
* I talk to myself out loud in public.
* I promise I'm only a little crazy...depends on who you ask.
* I like things like tarot (NO I cannot do a card reading for you. I don't know how, I just think it's cool!My friend does readings for me) and other spiritual stuff. If you're into that too, cool!
* I like men with facial hair. I also like men who are more alt-y (think piercings and tattoos...singer of Dark Divine)....but that isn't a requirement! It's just bonus points.
Why you should date me:
* We can listen to emo bands together whenever you want
* Emo music can mean many things and I’m OK with that.
* You won’t get food poisoning from my cooking
* I can make more than Hamburger Helper and frozen pizzas. Though, the ranch burger hamburger helper is my fave.
* The velveeta skillets are better, though.
* I’m suuuper short. So, if you’re insecure about your height, I gotchu. I’ll make you feel tall..or taller!
* I don’t care about height and it makes me sad that people feel insecure about something they can’t change.
* I’m a great small spoon…but I guess if you REALLY insist, I can be a jetpack. Buuuuutttt it isn't my first choice...but please don't cuddle all night. I want my space and I need to sprawl out and become a blanket burrito...with one leg out because otherwise, I'll get too hot! We just can't have that.

2024.06.05 23:39 y385drel Help boys work through friendship trouble? Or let them work it out?

My 11-year-old son has had a very good friend at school for the past two years. We have gotten to know his parents and think he’s a good kid from a good family.
The friend has a YouTube channel (my son does not, nor has he asked for one) in which he just posts videos of his bunny, etc. Mild stuff. His parents gave him a rule that he can’t video someone else without their permission.
Two weeks ago the boys were playing Minecraft online, and we heard our son yelling “stop it” a bunch. Seems like the friend was hitting my son’s character when they usually work together in the game. The next day the friend posted a YouTube video of this event, titling it something about destroying “xyz” (my son’s username). There was no sound/voices. But there were already a few comments as he has 300 followers on YouTube.
My son saw the video and commented some “I don’t care” language. We only know this because he was signed into my husband’s account so it looked like my husband was commenting. (He got an email alert from YouTube and started looking into the situation.)
My son cried himself to sleep that night. My husband reached out to the other dad and the video was taken down, other dad had serious convo with the friend, and the friend is remorseful. He wrote a very sincere apology note, and he has tried to talk to my son every day since.
My son is giving major cold shoulder and won’t accept the apology. We have talked to him about the importance of friendships and apologies, and reminding him that everyone makes mistakes. He is standing firm. Part of me wants to have him work this out on his own. It’s his choice if he doesn’t want the friend anymore. The other part of me thinks he shouldn’t let go of such a good friend, and I feel like hosting a mediation with both boys present.
My son doesn’t apologize to us without prompting, nor does he take our apologies seriously. He has other friends and might see this friendship as no big loss. The other family says their son is taking this pretty hard.
