Shadow Slave Chapter 1: Nightmare Begins By Guilty Three (Edited by Farshad Torkashvand)

2024.05.14 21:38 ftfarshad Shadow Slave Chapter 1: Nightmare Begins By Guilty Three (Edited by Farshad Torkashvand)

A delicate young man with pallid skin and dark circles under his eyes sat on a weathered bench opposite the police station. He held a cup of coffee in his hands—not the cheap synthetic kind available to those in the slums, but genuine plant-based coffee, a luxury usually reserved for higher-ranking citizens. It had cost him nearly all his savings, yet Sunny chose this day for a bit of indulgence.
After all, he was at the end of his road.
Basking in the warmth of the extravagant beverage, he lifted the cup to relish its scent. With a cautious sip, he winced.
"Ah! So bitter!"
Staring down the coffee with a deep sigh, Sunny persevered, taking another gulp. Despite its bitterness, he was set on enjoying the full value of his purchase—regardless of his protesting taste buds.
"I should've opted for real meat instead. Who would've thought actual coffee could taste so foul? At least it'll keep me awake," he mused.
Gazing into the void, he began to nod off, only to jolt himself awake with a slap to the face.
"Such a rip-off," he muttered.
With a shake of his head and a few choice words, Sunny downed the rest of his coffee and rose to his feet. The affluent residents of this part of town hurried by the small park, casting curious glances his way. His haggard appearance, accentuated by cheap attire and sleep deprivation, made him stick out. His thin, pale figure contrasted sharply with the robust passersby. Enviously eyeing their stature, he aimed the cup at a nearby bin.
"That's the difference three square meals a day make," he scoffed.
The cup missed its target, landing on the pavement. Sunny sighed, retrieved the cup, and made sure it went into the bin this time. A wry smile on his face, he crossed the street and stepped into the police station.
Inside, a weary officer cast a brief glance at him and frowned in clear distaste.
"Are you lost, boy?"
Sunny surveyed the surroundings with interest, observing the reinforced armor on the walls and the barely concealed turret nests in the ceiling. The officer appeared scruffy and stern. It seemed police stations were consistent everywhere.
"Hey! I'm speaking to you!"
Sunny cleared his throat.
"Uh, no."
He then scratched the back of his head and continued:
"Under the Third Special Directive, I am here to turn myself in as a carrier of the Nightmare Spell."
The officer's demeanor shifted from annoyance to caution. He scrutinized the young man anew, this time with a sharp gaze.
"Are you certain you're infected? When did the symptoms begin?"
Sunny gave a nonchalant shrug.
The officer's complexion turned noticeably paler.
"Damn."
Then, with a swift movement, he hit a button on his terminal and shouted:
"Attention! Code Black in the lobby! I repeat, CODE BLACK!"
***
The Nightmare Spell emerged several decades ago, during a period when the planet was beginning to recover from catastrophic natural disasters and ensuing wars over resources.
Initially, a new ailment causing widespread fatigue and drowsiness didn't garner much attention. However, as people began to succumb to an abnormal sleep from which they wouldn't awaken, even after several days, governments started to panic. By that time, it was too late for any response to make a difference.
As the afflicted began to die in their sleep, transforming into monsters upon death, the world was unprepared. These Nightmare Creatures swiftly overran national defenses, casting the world into utter disarray.
The nature of the Spell, its capabilities, and methods to combat it remained unknown.
Ultimately, it was the Awakened—those who had endured the Spell's initial onslaught and returned alive—who halted its destruction. Wielding extraordinary powers gained through their Nightmares, they reestablished peace and forged a new semblance of order.
Certainly, it was just the initial catastrophe unleashed by the Spell. However, for Sunny, it seemed irrelevant — until recently, when he began struggling to stay awake.
For the average individual, being selected by the Spell could be as dangerous as it was fortuitous. In school, children were taught survival skills and combat techniques in case they were affected. Affluent families employed private tutors to instruct their offspring in various martial arts. Members of the Awakened clans even possessed potent heritages, harnessing ancestral Memories and Echoes during their inaugural journey to the Dream Realm.
The wealthier your family, the greater your odds of enduring and ascending as an Awakened.
Yet for Sunny, an orphan who devoted his days to foraging rather than education, the Spell's choice offered no prospects. For him, it signified an almost certain demise.
***
Minutes later, Sunny yawned as several policemen busied themselves securing him in restraints. Shortly, he was strapped into a bulky chair, an odd hybrid of a hospital bed and a torture device. They were in a room located in the police station's basement, encased by thick armored walls and guarded by a daunting vault door. Nearby, officers stood against the walls, clutching automatic rifles with stern looks etched on their faces.
Sunny was indifferent to them. His only concern was his overwhelming desire to sleep.
At last, the vault door swung open, and a gray-haired policeman stepped through. His face bore the marks of experience, and his stern eyes seemed to have witnessed countless horrors. After inspecting the restraints, he cast a swift glance at his wristwatch before facing Sunny:
"What's your name, kid?"
Sunny blinked several times, struggling to focus, then squirmed in discomfort.
"Sunless."
The elderly policeman lifted an eyebrow.
"Sunless? That's an unusual name."
Sunny attempted to shrug, but his body refused to cooperate.
"What's unusual about it? At least I have a name. Where I come from, not everyone is given one."
He yawned before continuing:
"It's because I was born during a solar eclipse. My mother was quite the poet."
Hence his peculiar name, and why his younger sister was named Rain… at least, when she was still with them. Whether it stemmed from poetic flair or sheer indolence, he couldn't tell.
The policeman gave a gruff sound.
"Should I get in touch with your family?"
Sunny shook his head.
"No need. There's no one left."
For a moment, a shadow crossed the policeman's face before it settled into a grave expression.
"Alright, Sunless. How long can you remain awake?"
"Uh… not very long."
The policeman exhaled deeply.
"In that case, we don't have time for the complete procedure. Resist sleep as best as you can and pay close attention to what I'm about to say. Understood?"
Without waiting for an answer, he continued:
"What do you understand about the Nightmare Spell?"
Sunny looked at him with uncertainty.
"About as much as the next person, I suppose? Isn't the Spell common knowledge?"
"It's not the glamorous stuff you see in dramas or hear about in propaganda broadcasts. How much do you truly understand?"
That question was difficult to answer.
"So, I just enter the Dream Realm, slay some monsters to complete the First Nightmare, gain magical powers, and become an Awakened?"
The veteran policeman shook his head.
"Pay attention. When you fall asleep, you'll be transported into your First Nightmare. Nightmares are trials crafted by the Spell. Inside, you'll encounter monsters, but you'll encounter people as well. Remember, they aren't real. They are merely illusions created to challenge you."
"How can you be certain?"
The policeman fixed him with a stare.
"I mean, nobody really grasps the nature of the Spell or its mechanics, right? So how can you be sure they aren't real?"
"You may have to eliminate them, kid. It's better for you to consider them as mere illusions."
"Oh."
The aged officer paused for a moment, then nodded and resumed speaking.
"Much about the First Nightmare is left to chance. Generally, it's not meant to be excessively difficult. The predicament you find yourself in, the tools at your disposal, and the creatures you must overcome should all fall within your capabilities. After all, the Spell conjures trials, not death sentences. Your particular situation does put you at a disadvantage, but remember, children from the outskirts are resilient. Don't lose hope just yet."
"Mm-hmm."
Sunny's drowsiness was intensifying, making it difficult to keep up with the conversation.
"As for the 'magic powers' you inquired about... indeed, you will acquire them if you endure the Nightmare until its conclusion. The exact nature of these powers will depend on your inherent affinities and your actions during the trial. However, you'll have access to some of them right from the beginning..."
The old policeman's voice was fading into the distance. Sunny's eyelids were so heavy, it was a struggle to keep his eyes open.
"Remember: your first task upon entering the Nightmare is to assess your Attributes and your Aspect. If you're assigned a combat-oriented Aspect, like a Swordsman or an Archer, you'll find things more manageable. If it's complemented by a physical Attribute, all the better. Since Combat Aspects are quite common, there's a good chance you'll receive one."
The light in the armored room was fading.
"If you're unfortunate enough to have an Aspect unrelated to combat, don't lose heart. Sorcery and utility Aspects have their own merits; you just need to use them wisely. There are no truly useless Aspects. Well, almost none. So do whatever it takes to survive."
"Surviving means you're on your way to becoming an Awakened. But if you perish, you'll create a portal for a Nightmare Creature to enter our world. That would mean my colleagues and I have to intervene. So, please, Sunless, don't perish."
Sunny, already drifting to sleep, felt somewhat moved by the officer's plea.
"And try not to perish immediately. It will be hours before the nearest Awakened can arrive, and we'd really prefer not to confront that creature alone..."
'What?'
With that final thought, Sunny succumbed to a profound sleep.
Darkness enveloped everything.
And then, from the shadows, a vaguely familiar voice echoed:
[Aspirant! Welcome to the Nightmare Spell. Prepare for your First Trial…]

2024.05.14 19:36 GentlemanlyAdvice AITAH for embarrassing another person in public?

I (55M) have a son (15M) who's severely autistic. He is mostly nonverbal, using one or two word sentences. He really doesn't have much in his life that he likes or is obsessed with other than sprinkling things with his hands.
When he's at home for the day, we usually go on a long walk in order to get him out of the house and get some sun. We usually walk through the dog park nearby because he likes seeing the dogs and he has this uncanny ability to attract them. Dogs LOVE this kid. They come running to him for loving as soon as they see him and he pets them and lets them lick his hands and face (ugh).
Today we were walking in the dog park and it was fairly crowded. I saw a Corgi puppy. Corgis are my favorite dog and corgi puppies are like my kryptonite. So I'm petting and playing with this puppy not wanting the moment to end. I know that I need to ask permission first but like I said, I'm willing to take my lumps for a corgi puppy.
A lady walks up and tells me that's her puppy and starts chatting me up. We're chatting a little and I notice that the skin on her face is a little too smooth and shiny and her lips are a little too puffy, which kind of makes her look really weird to me, but she seems friendly and we talk about corgis.
So I start to leave and she stops and asks for my phone number. I'm always flattered when that happens, but I show her my wedding ring but then I notice that she's got an engagement ring and a wedding band on her finger. My mind automatically goes to infidelity mode. I have experience with infidelity in my life and I don't really like cheaters, to put it mildly. Whether or not she was thinking infidelity I have no idea, I must confess. Maybe IATAH for thinking that.
Just then, my son starts squealing and jumping up and down flapping his arms like a bird (kind of). He does that when he's excited and it's because he saw his first chocolate Labrador retriever. He likes labs and he's only ever seen yellow ones and black ones. The chocolate Lab is licking his face while he's laughing and squealing.
I'm usually pretty understanding when complete strangers are startled by my son's behavior because I'm used to it but a 5' 9" man sized human who's squealing, jumping up and down, and flapping his arms would rattle anyone. So normally it's no big deal to me if there's a negative reaction.
So the lady who asked for my number says something like "who brought that to the dog park" or something like that and I was triggered.
I tell her he's with me and start to walk away as she sort of stands there with that look of disgust on her face.
I just couldn't let it go.
So I said really loud so that people around us could hear.
"NO! I WILL NOT HAVE SEX WITH YOU IN THE DOG PARK, GEEZ!"
I start walking off and she sputters out something loudly like I'm an old geezer (I'm 55) and dream on.
So I yell "STOP FLIRTING WITH ME!!!"
My son and I walk off and she looks mortified.
I was talking to my wife about it later on and she told me that the move I pulled was totally stupid and made me look like a crazy asshole. She did agree that the lady might have been flirting with me, though.
So, people, AITAH?

2024.05.14 15:12 SplittyDev Test Voqab - Language Self-Learning App

Hello everyone!
We've been working on a new app, and could really use your help to test it out!
Here’s what it’s all about:
Here are the key features:
Currently, the app is mainly tailored to Asian languages, with extensive support for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai. There is also extensive support for Estonian, and basic support for English, German, Russian, Spanish and Arabic.
You can request support for a new language, but please understand that for new languages, we'll go by popularity, since supporting a new language properly takes quite a lot of time and effort.
And just as not to mislead anyone: This is not an app with curated courses like Memrise or Duolingo, nor is it a purely flashcard-based app such as Anki.
With Voqab, we're trying a novel and unique approach: You add your own words as you're learning them using other sources such as books, YouTube videos or other apps, but the app uses the best spaced-repetition algorithm available (FSRS 4.5) based on the latest research and will help you memorize these words much more effectively.
Additionally, the app knows a lot about the language you're learning, and it will be able to give you automatic links to relevant online dictionaries, suggest an automatic romanization for Asian languages, understand particles for select languages and show them in sentence analysis, provide language-specific learning resources and help you getting a good feel for the language using the typing trainer, cloze deletion test, word quiz and tiered mastery system.
Join the beta and help us make it awesome! https://testflight.apple.com/join/b0f8LlYm
Please leave your feedback, feature requests and bug reports in the comment section, and we hope you have a great time testing Voqab!

2024.05.14 14:42 jennithomas321 6 Pro Tip: Invest in a solid LinkedIn profile SEO

LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.
Among all the social media platforms out there, LinkedIn stands out as the go-to platform for professional social networking.
But with over 900 million people using it, how do you stand out?
It requires more than a compelling bio and a polished profile image.
Do You Know??
According to the latest statistics, 40 million people use LinkedIn every week to search for jobs, and three people a minute are hired on the site.
This article will cover:
  1. Keywords
  2. Headlines
  3. Profile completeness
  4. Job title optimisation /Work Experience
  5. URL Optimization
What Is LinkedIn SEO?
How Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) works for LinkedIn???
LinkedIn SEO is all about optimizing your profile and content to boost your visibility and ranking, offering a myriad of opportunities for career progression, business networking, and establishing a prominent presence within your industry.
When you fine-tune your profile’s headline summary, work experience, and skills section with specific keywords, you can boost the likelihood of appearing in LinkedIn’s search results.
Imagine someone searching for specific keywords or skills related to your professional background – a well-optimized profile significantly increases the chances of your profile being featured in their search results.
On top of that, LinkedIn profiles can also show up in traditional search engine results pages (SERPs) like Google, expanding your online presence.
Beyond profile optimization, the impact of SEO extends to your content. LinkedIn posts and, particularly, articles have the potential to rank within LinkedIn’s search engine, showcasing your expertise within the platform.
Furthermore, these articles, with their long-form nature and valuable insights, can also rank on traditional search engines, leveraging LinkedIn’s high domain authority for increased visibility both on and off the platform.

Why You Need to Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile:

An optimized LinkedIn profile is one where every part of your personal profile is filled out and shows audiences what you do, who you are, and what you are an expert in.
This helps your profile rank higher in LinkedIn searches and builds trust among those who might want to connect or follow you.
Do You Know??
Even more compelling? Some 44% of LinkedIn users earn more than $75,000 a year. That’s a considerable bump up from the national median income of $68,703 per household.
Let's Dive in:
6 steps to help improve your LinkedIn SEO optimization for better results.

Step 1: Keywords.

A keyword is a word or phrase that searchers enter into a search engine. Learn more about Keyword Research. Examples of keywords and phrases include:
Example:
In seo bint e jamil, 'Digital Marketing Manager' is the keyword.
For LinkedIn, create a list of 7-10 words or terms that your ideal client would use when searching for the service you offer. For example:
Now, use these keywords throughout your profile in as many sections as possible, including your:

Step 2: Profile Completeness

To rank highly your profile will need to be 100% complete, with every profile section completed. Consider using bullet points rather than paragraphs, and format the text so it’s easy to read.
Let’s take a look at what you should focus on to fully optimize your LinkedIn profile.

1: Images Optimization:

When you’re setting up your profile, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got a solid profile picture.
LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.LinkedIn can be a sales goldmine when used strategically.
Among all the social media platforms out there, LinkedIn stands out as the go-to platform for professional social networking.

2: LinkedIn Background Photo:

Background photos are like billboards. You can use this space to show your accomplishments and awards or offer free resources.
LinkedIn Background Photo Optimization
You should also:

3: Craft a Keyword-Rich Tagline /Headline:

Your LinkedIn headline sits just below your profile image and name. Customising your headline is not only critical for SEO, it’s also an important part of your personal brand - how people view and perceive you on the platform.
LinkedIn automatically populates your headline with your current or most recent position – however, you have the option to customise it. Remember, you want the headline to create an informative and impactful snapshot of yourself.
Linkedin Headline Optimization
When creating your headline:

Headline Example:

For a digital marketing manager, a similarly optimized tagline could be, "Innovative Digital Marketing Strategies to Elevate Your Brand's Presence" — placing the target keyword "Digital marketing strategies" prominently at the start.

4. Featured Posts on LinkedIn

The Featured section on LinkedIn is a space on your profile where you can highlight important content.
LinkedIn Featured Section
It’s near the top, below your photo and headline. You can use this section to showcase:
Featured content isn’t permanent, so you can change it up to include new content as regularly as you like!

5.Create a Compelling “About” Section

The About section is the meat of your Company page. Here, you have the space to go into more detail, telling the story of your brand and naturally incorporating relevant keywords throughout.
About Us LinkedIn SEO
Here are some components to consider including in your About section:
Here’s an example of the beginning of an About section for a data analytics company:
At ABC Company, we democratize data analytics, enabling businesses of all sizes to unlock insights through our intuitive, AI-powered analytics platform.
Finally, you can add in some “Top skills” as a way to remind readers what your services are. This also presents another opportunity to add in your keywords.

6.Work Experience

When I’m looking at someone’s experience section on LinkedIn, I’m looking to see if they meet the criteria of the role beyond a job title. Their job duties and achievements give me a better understanding of their scope of knowledge and specific skill sets this role needs.
LinkedIn “Work Experience” section

Fields for LinkedIn experience entries

Each position on LinkedIn has a combination of required (*) and optional fields:

Required fields for LinkedIn Work Experience entries

Title*

List your position title, including any relevant keywords. Sometimes job titles benefit from being revised for common searches.
Example: "Content Marketing Manager" might be more search-friendly than "Manager, Marketing Content."

Company name*

Many companies already have a company profile on LinkedIn and will autocomplete from the LinkedIn Company Page in the dropdown as you type.

Employment dates*

This is usually shown by a start and end date. If you’re currently working in the role, click “I am currently working in this role” and it will automatically list your end date on your profile as “Present.”

Industry*

This doesn’t display on your profile. Select the best match and keep going.

Optional fields for LinkedIn Work Experience entries

The profile gets much more interesting with the additional, optional work experience fields including:

Employment type

Location

Sharing the location can give people reviewing your profile a sense of where you’ve worked (and where you’re likely based).

Location type

Choose from On-site, Hybrid, and Remote. Showing that you have experience working in a certain capacity can be valuable to some recruiters and employers. Example: If you have a work history in remote roles, you may be a strong candidate for additional remote roles.
Description
This is a written summary, usually two or three sentences long, that allows you to show your job duties, achievements, and expertise. By including relevant information with a few highlights and key accomplishments, you can improve your odds as a job seeker.
Pro tip: To further optimize your LinkedIn profile, consider using ChatGPT for your LinkedIn summary.

7.URL Optimization

LinkedIn allows you to personalise your URL, changing it from the automated URL, which is usually quite long and contains a random assortment of numbers. Upon updating make sure you update your email signature, business cards and other marketing collateral.
URL Optimization in LinkedIn SEO

To change your LinkedIn public profile URL:

For LinkedIn Public Profile URL:
  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click View profile.
  3. Click Edit public profile & URL on the right side.
  1. Under Edit your custom URL on the right side, click the Edit icon next to your public profile URL.
  1. Type the last part of your new custom URL in the text box.
  2. Click Save

Drive Results with LinkedIn SEO Optimization

By enhancing the different components of your LinkedIn profile page with a strategic approach to LinkedIn SEO optimization, you’ll be much more likely to appear in search results. This will go a long way toward increasing your visibility and helping drive more business opportunities. Remember that SEO isn’t just a one-time effort, but rather an ongoing process that requires regular attention and updates to deliver your desired results.

2024.05.14 11:01 BatatazFritaz I made a bad joke

A few months a go an aunt of mine died, some kind of cancer. And I've made plenty of jokes about it, it's been my way to cope.
The thing is, recently a friend found out her dad has cancer on the spine, and is refusing treatment. Its not that advanced yet tho. So it's a pretty delicate subject and I'm avoiding the topic, to not make her uncomfortable, and so are my friends.
Yesterday at a break between classes, we were talking about microwaves, and the topic went to 'people who believe microwaves will give you cancer.' and I mentioned I didn't had one because my mom is one of those people. This friend of mine offered me one, jokingly, because she has two.
And I said "Well, maybe this is why-" I didn't even finish the sentence, I knew I had fucked up, that I had crossed the line. But it was so automatic, i wasnt even thinking about how that would destroy her. I've been feeling like crap since that. I tried apologising after what happened, but she went crying to the bathroom. I also texted her.
But im trying to not push her too much, I totally get it on why she's mad. And I feel like a monster.
I'm gonna see her again at school in a few hours, and it's gonna be really hard to us to avoid each other, because every single group project we are together and with some other friends. And we're two of the very few people who stay for the afternoon support classes, and we have the same ones. We've almost always been freinds, being the only scholarship students in our class, but not actually close, yknow?
I feel so embarassed. I'm really considering playing sick just so I don't have to go and see her.
I dont know what I should do, it's eating me alive. Do I just wait or try to talk to her again? I'm not good on dealing with emotions. I really need some advice.
Edit: Well, I met her at school, and apparently we're acting like nothing happened and we copied each other's homework and she started to tell me the gossip she heard yesterday
I guess we're fine? Not sure if I should bring yesterday up. But just in case, I won't, at least for now.

  • Using the keyboard shortcut cmd + shift + left arrow key to highlight everything results in improper rendering of the highlight.
  • When opening Image Sets, the images load closely together, and the Image Set name tile appears misplaced, positioned between the top and second row instead of the first row.
  • When performing combine, subtract, intersect, or exclude operations and attaching them, the color or operations remains unchangeable.
  • Upon launching the app, users encounter a white screen, a continuous spinner, and a missing refresh token.
  • Even after power cycling and setting the load to go, the -18 machine connection error continues to persist
  • When hovering over the mat control multiple times, the mat preview fails to appear.
  • When toggling the mirror function, the mat selection jumps, causing the left side to scroll back to the top.
  • Cannot remove images from a collection
  • Completing the product setup for a second time with a different machine leads to going to the "Get Started" page without setting the correct machine type.
  • The "Get Started" page on the left rail and the pointer finger suggest that there's a reason to click there.
  • It's not possible to unlike projects, and an error message stating "unable to remove likes" is displayed.
  • The bookmark icon fails to switch to "bookmarked" for image sets
  • The private profile message fails to display, and opening a project link leads to an empty Canvas without the project
  • The shared profile links are incomplete, leading to the home page instead of directing to the profile
  • Card Mat - If users attempt to make or customize without selecting a finished size, they will be prompted with the error message, "Select a Finished Size to continue
  • When adding a photo to the Project details, it's observed that the image is zoomed in excessively, making it impossible to zoom out sufficiently to display the entire photo.
  • It is not possible to cancel a full-page Print Then Cut project from the Mat Prepare screen.
-After completing the cut with Print Then Cut and Basic Cut operations attached, the mat remains unloaded.
-Performing a second search after the initial one yields no results
-Attempting to open a project with numerous sticker groups results in the Canvas displaying a perpetual spinner, rendering the project inaccessible.
-Loading stickers with multi-layered complex projects from project details takes considerable time to customize or make, typically ranging from 5 to 7 minutes.
  • The custom border feature fails to function properly with complex shapes and does not create sticker-cut interior shapes combinations as intended.
  • The Offset function fails to work with intricate PNGs for creating sticker-cut interior shapes combinations, and the Apply button remains disabled, accompanied by a continuous green bar.
  • When deleting a Warp within a sticker group, the border is not redrawn.
  • When resizing the sticker image using the Kiss cut & Die-cut Edge option, the image vanishes from the Canvas.
  • After ungrouping and regrouping the text, the font toolbar is unavailable for the group.
  • Apostrophes and quotes fail to transform into their left-right variants, causing coded single and double quote marks to appear instead of the anticipated left and right variants.
  • Text is positioned closer to the bottom right corner, resulting in incorrect text placement after opening a new Canvas and adding new text
  • When using the delete button on the laptop to erase text, it becomes evident that the undo and redo functions are not operating correctly.
  • After changing a color or moving an image, the undo feature fails to function.
  • Users have the ability to delete uploaded images when using new Image Inspiration designs.
  • When attempting to upload an image, a message indicating "unable to upload image" is displayed, prompting users to check their internet connection.
  • The learning plan redirects to the Canvas instead of remaining on the home page.
  • When the uploaded image is added to the Canvas, it displays an image load failure.

2024.05.14 03:10 SplittyDev [Recruiting] [iOS/macOS] Voqab - Language Self-Learning App

I've been working on a new vocabulary self-learning app and could really use your help to test it out! Here’s what it’s all about:

Features:

Currently, the app is mainly tailored to Asian languages, with extensive support for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai. Western languages with extensive support are English and Estonian (Eesti).
Depending on feedback and how much time I have that's not purely spent on bug-fixing and improving existing features, I'll add support for more popular languages very soon.
And just as not to mislead anyone: This is not an app with curated courses like Memrise or Duolingo, nor is it a purely flashcard-based app such as Anki.
With Voqab, I'm trying a novel and unique approach: You add your own words as you're learning them using other sources such as books, YouTube videos or other apps, but the app uses the best spaced-repetition algorithm available (FSRS 4.5) based on the latest research and will help you memorize these words much more effectively.
Join the beta and help me make it awesome! https://testflight.apple.com/join/b0f8LlYm
Thanks!

2024.05.14 00:21 Commet79 would a femboy date me D:

So im 15f (afab), and theres this guy who sits behind me in my computer class. I wouldn't say he's inherently like a "femboy", he doesn't dress like one at school, but i have overheard him say that he cross dresses. He is rlly rlly cute and i wanna like approach him and stuff but idk how D: We exchange maybe a few sentences weekly about casual things... But we haven't ever REALLY talked. Im very fearful he's gay and that i'd just be embarrassing myself. I have been friends with femboys irl in the past, but all of them have been gay. Im quite feminine myself, and i am in a more "popular" group of girls. He is kinda a nerd, and definitely isn't popular. Not that that's a problem, that's actually preferable. I just fear he will automatically assume im a judgmental bitch because of the people in my circle D: He knows im also secretly a nerd and weird tho. But do you think I even have a chance?? If so, how do i initiate things??? He knows I like femboys because he complimented my astolfo doodle one day. So he atleast knows im into that. Im just very scared of rejection!! Pls give me advice, i honestly am so torn, and we only have a week of school left 😭

2024.05.14 00:09 jhylee 5 Tactics for Better Onboarding: How We Grew Activation by 20%

If you find this valuable, we'd love your support for Supa Screenshot on Product Hunt today: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/supa-screenshot ❤️

Startling fact: as high as 80% of users who sign up for your product end up never coming back after the first day.

This means only 20% of top-of-funnel users come back to use your product in a meaningful way.
It also denotes the importance of first impressions — which are paramount to converting, retaining, and expanding your customer base.
And where first impressions typically form is within your initial onboarding experience.
But despite this, onboarding is frequently overlooked as a one-time checklist – often becoming stale as your product, messaging, and GTM tactics evolve.
And we’ve been guilty of this too at Supademo, where we struggled with a pattern of less-than-ideal customer activation, slow time-to-value, and low onboarding completion.
In an effort to improve these metrics, we focused on hypothesizing and implementing a series of tactics to reduce friction and accelerate time-to-value.
Ultimately, these:
Here’s an actionable guide on the five tactics we implemented to improve our product onboarding:

1) Reverse trial directly into our highest-tier plan

Companies often find themselves wrestling with the choice between offering a Trial or adopting a Freemium model. As Elena Vera says: “opt for neither, because Reverse Trials are simply.. better.”
A reverse trial lets the product do the talking rather than gatekeeping with marketing lingo. It also helps customers test-drive plans that best fit their use case — without the paradox of choice.
What we did:

2) Use social proof everywhere

Communicate benefits through customers' voices – not just your own. This helps build trust, credibility and authority, which are crucial to their willingness to invest time and complete onboarding.
What we did:

3) Force users to experience our "aha moment"

When building a complex product with many bells and whistles, it can be challenging to surface key features intuitively. Since our “aha” moment is tied to creating a Supademo, we “forced” users to as one of their first onboarding steps.
What we did:

4) Push for team usage

It's commonly accepted that team-based, collaborative SaaS platforms like Slack tend to have higher retention and lower churn. Lateral usage in the org = wider surface area for penetration, more use cases and higher odds of reaching an internal champion.
What we did:

5) Personalized, action-triggered onboarding emails

Instead of dripping a handful of generic email sequences to every signup, we decided to add personalization via dynamic Supademos and product-triggered onboarding emails. With little effort, we get notified of our highest potential/most engaged leads while personalizing at scale.
What we did
Hopefully, this helps other founders here iterate on and improve their product onboarding experience!

Shifting sleep motivation + subliminal.
If you’re shifting to a reality that has pretty popular characters, you can go to the Character.AI app, pick a character, then you want to go to the top right corner of your character conversation and click the voice gram with the plus sign.
It will automatically pull up character voices for your character AI, and then you just listen and choose which one you like/which ones more accurate. Then, you will click screen record and start asking your AI to say specific things.
Example: “tell me that you need me to shift” “talk to me about reality shifting and how much you love me” etc. After you’ve collected all the voices you want, you’ll put them into a video editing app and edit the sentences your character says to be closer together.
Then, you’ll copy paste that video and continue to do that until the video is hours long. Then, you’ll listen to it every night to make your chances of shifting higher, and motivate you to shift. I’ve been doing this for days now and I’ve been feeling way more motivated

2024.05.13 20:27 wikimandia How can we toughen the laws to deter this behavior?

Simple $120 fines aren't cutting it. They keep repeating this behavior in different jurisdictions and getting their charges dismissed. These people are a menace to society and their cult is only going to get more dangerous and disruptive as they suck up more resources.
I feel like they should get one warning that goes with the fines for their first offense, and then they should get a $5,000 fine, an automatic 30-day jail sentence and be put on probation. Their cars should be seized and auctioned to pay for their fines.

Welcome to... Creating a daily power for Saiki until we get more content or when 2 years have passed. (CDPFSUWGMCW 2 YHP.) #87
Let's start and I hope you like it
[°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°][°-°]

Mindscape

Classification: Supernatural Powers, Spatial Powers, Dimensional Powers, Cognitive Powers, Reality Manipulation, Environmental Powers, Mind-Based Powers, Psychic Powers, Conceptual Powers, Almighty Powers, Transportation, Imprisonment Abilities, Materializations, Sealing, Defense Abilities, Existential Powers, Umbrella Powers, Temporal Powers, Omni Powers, Regeneration, Nigh Powers, Transcendent Powers, Plot Powers, Supernatural Powers, Self-Affecting Powers, Void Powers
Type: Tought-Based
Energy Consumption: Moderate
Threat Level: 7.8
Summary:
Saiki harbors a Mindscape; a mystical internal realm, a cognitive universe nestled within one's consciousness. It's a personalized mental plane shaped by the individual's innermost nature, thoughts, emotions, and memories. This ethereal domain serves as a nexus, a matrix of the mind, woven from the fabric of imagination, beliefs, values, and desires. It's a unique manifestation, a surreal dimension defying the laws of physics, teeming with psychological manifestations that populate its entirety.
The Mindscape can adopt multiple layers of the user’s mentality, being an entire reality that is completely based on the user's mind, with each significant place containing memories and others where the user's imagination reigns
The Minscape is an eternal sanctuary for everything that is part of the user, always under the influence of the users themselves, able to control everything within it, from time, space, reality, gravity, weather and anything they can think of by their will and desire.
The Mindscape tends to be inherent to the internal realm as a manifestation of the users themselves, as these beings are their byproducts, much like their inner beings or specific aspects of themselves that make the internal worlds their homes, even though the user may transcend all internal things. These inner beings can be anything as long as they are related to the user and their desires, such as their benevolence, malevolence, alternative beings, animals, etc., with any characteristics, physiology, abilities that they decide, and all are under their control as they can be created or deleted at any time, understanding their command or circumstances.
In the Mindscape Saiki is the highest authority acting as god of all that is within it. No matter what happens as long as Saiki wishes he can remake, erase, create or materialize his ideas at will.
Among the things Saiki can do are:
All Dreamscape abilities:
Plus:
Indexing: Saiki can index any and all different types of information, DNA, data, history, etc.
Inner Training Grounds: As the name suggests Saiki can create training grounds inside the Mindscape.
Mental Presence: When entering the Mindscape, Saiki's mind exists everywhere and anywhere simultaneously.
Mindscape Manipulation: Saiki can manipulate the Mindscape at will which allows him to:
Mentifery: With a single thought Saiki can warp reality.
Solipsistic Reality: Saiki passively alters anything that may be related and connected to them (from memory or their knowledge).
Nature of power: As a result, anything associated with Saiki becomes susceptible to manipulation, allowing Saiki to utilize any supernatural ability they possess on objects or entities connected to them
Possible uses:
Reality Overlapping: There is a small chance that when materializing Mindscape both realities collide at one point, bringing both realities together. This is due to Saiki's almost null experience with this power.
Subjective Reality: Reality becomes subjective for Saiki as he manipulates the boundary between fantasy and reality (what is and what is not), turning one into the other and blurring the boundary between them.
Actuality Exchange: Saiki can exchange anything with anything from other realities, timelines, dimensions, universes, etc.
Regeneration (Absolute - Level III - Narrative High-Godly), Immortality (Type: 3, 4, 5 & 8 Regeneration, Resurrection, Deathless Immortality & Reliant) & Acausality (Type 3 & 4 - Temporal Permanence & Anachronism/Irregular Causality)

2024.05.13 15:23 erepresent Text Transformation Made Easy: Discover the Power of a Case Converter

In the digital era, where text dominates online communication, the utility of text transformation tools becomes increasingly apparent. One such tool that simplifies the process of formatting and editing text is a case converter. This versatile tool assists users in efficiently converting text between various cases, such as upper case, lower case, title case, and sentence case. By understanding the functionality and applications of a case converter, individuals can streamline their writing tasks and ensure textual consistency across documents.
A case converter is fundamentally a software tool designed to alter the text case automatically without manual typing. This tool is particularly useful in scenarios where large volumes of text require uniform case application, which can be tedious and error-prone if done manually. For instance, when preparing academic papers, marketing materials, or legal documents, maintaining consistent case formatting is essential for readability and professionalism.
The primary functions of a case converter include converting all text to upper case, which is often used for headings or acronyms; lower case, commonly used for informal communications; title case, ideal for titles and headings where each significant word starts with a capital letter; and sentence case, which capitalizes the first letter of each sentence, suitable for body text in reports and essays. These transformations can be achieved with just a few clicks, saving time and reducing the likelihood of typographical errors.
Moreover, the case converter is a boon for programming and coding. Developers often need to switch between different naming conventions, such as camel case, snake case, and kebab case, depending on the programming language or the project's coding standards. A case converter that includes these functionalities can significantly speed up coding and ensure adherence to coding guidelines.
The universal accessibility of case converters makes them a valuable tool for anyone dealing with text. Whether you are a student, a professional writer, or a software developer, the ability to quickly and accurately adjust text case can enhance your efficiency and the quality of your work. In a world where time is valuable and presentation matters, the simple yet powerful case converter is an indispensable tool in your digital toolkit.

2024.05.13 00:34 emwestfall23 editable closed captions for lectures

Hi all - I'm working on making my lectures for an undergraduate course as accessible as possible. I was able to create a transcription of the entire audio, but I'd love a good software to create closed captions for my videos. Are there any that use AI to automatically create closed captions that you can edit for accuracy? And are any of these free? Unfortunately, the uni where I work doesn't have such a software available. (I guess I can technically upload to YouTube and use those captions, but those are a little clunky in terms of capitalization and grammar, basically reading like one massive run-on sentence or stream of consciousness. Though perhaps that's better than nothing?) Thanks in advance for any tips!

2024.05.12 21:40 FakeElectionMaker Jacques Dutroux in exile in Argentina (1947–1954)

Jacques Dutroux in exile in Argentina (1947–1954)
Dutroux's false Argentine ID, identifying him as engineer "Vincent Bertrand"
By March 1947, Jacquerie France was the only Axis power standing, and it only controlled Paris and having surrounding areas such as Saint-Denis, much of Laos and Cambodia, and French Polynesia. It was clear that the Battle of Paris, fought by American, British, French Resistance and Commonwealth troops against the stubborn French Army, would be the final battle of the war in Europe.
Throughout the first half of the month, Paris was invaded by the Allies, and they quickly surrounded the city from all directions. Dutroux considered commuting suicide with cyanide or escaping to Argentina, as his ally Generalissimo Francisco Franco had done in early 1946.
On the night 15 March 1946, Dutroux held a last-ditch meeting with his remaining generals, and discovered there were no forces available to launch a counterattack. The following morning, he met with his self-appointed successor, Pierre Laval, and verbally (to avoid Allied detection) told him he was resigning as Head of State (merger of the presidency and premiership) of France, automatically making Laval head of state. Dutroux then shaved his mustache and most of his hair, put on a different pair of glasses than his iconic ones, and boarded an Air France flight to Buenos Aires on a captured C-47 Skytrain.
In Buenos Aires, Dutroux bought a house in Hipólito Yirigoyen Street, from a owner unaware of his true identity, and came into contact with fellow fascist exiles, who cooperated with parts of the Catholic Church to forme ratlines allowing other war criminals to escape. When at a Buenos Aires cafe, he met Andressa Pertini, a 26 year-old waitress, and fell in love with her, his first wife having died in an Allied bombing of Paris; the two married on 20 September, and adopted a son.
Laval decreed unconditional surrender on 21 March, formally ending World War II, and France was split into four zones of occupation, losing all of its overseas territories other than Algeria and most of West Africa. Pierre Laval was imprisoned and sentenced to five years in prison by the Allied occupiers, subsequently dying of natural causes in 1956.
In Argentina, Dutroux took on the false identity of "Vincent Bertrand", an engineer. He is said to have offered advice to Juan Perón on public works, but there is no evidence of this; in 1948, Dutroux and Pertini escaped to Patagonia with their adopted son, allegedly having a healthy marriage, as Pertini, like the Western Allies, thought Dutroux was dead.
After the war, Allied governments believed Dutroux had committed suicide in his bunker, and refused to impose a death sentence in absentia against him. Alleged sightings of Le Chef were documented in Switzerland, Turkey and Iran, but none were authenticated, and Allied governments held he had died in 1947 until 1955, when the Revolución Libertadora government revealed Dutroux's whereabouts.
By 1954, Dutroux's health was deteriorating; he suffered from kidney failure, drinking wine heavily in his later years, as well as prostate cancer and heart disease, and was constantly bedridden. He died on 19 February 1954, at the ripe old age of 73, and was buried next to his penthouse, which was turned into an "Anti-Peronist" museum by the 1955 junta. The Junta also flew Dutroux's remains to France, where he was cremated, his ashes thrown into the Loire.
Pertini died in 2004, having written a memoir about life with Dutroux that described him as a friendly and personable man who deeply cared about her, while four of Dutroux's five biological children also survived him, the last dying in 1984.

2024.05.12 18:02 According-Moose6361 leq strategies

heimler's template do not really work for me and i usually focus on the dbq for longer than 60 mins, which usually leaves 30-ish minutes fro leq. documents just automatically draw a pattern and the moment you organize them in some way you just form your topic sentences. but that obviously doesn't apply to leq and i just mumble my words hoping it will sound like an argument/support for an argument. how do you actually come up with a thesis and supportable evidences in 30 minutes? the problem isn't that i can't come up with related info but more about the organization/defense.

2024.05.12 00:01 Typical_Software_798 Stranger in a strange world

Preface: I started hammering this out not too long ago, with hopes of it extending to the truely amazing lengths that other stories have. Personally I doubt it will, but hey might be entertaining for a few people. Criticism is welcome, constructive criticism even more-so. Formatting is not my strong suit (mobile doesn’t help, nor does not knowing what the hell im doing), neither is pacing nor doling out enough detail to certain points, hopefully in time I will improve. Title may be subject to change, still iffy on it.
Kata surveyed the fields below her, searching for her quarry. The corrupted beast had three times now harassed the keep, harming multiple guards and killing a child. She gripped her bow harder, poor Ensia… just a little girl, ripped from the world too young.
She knew her parents and saw them mourn. It was heart wrenching, listening to them sob. Holding the orange blood stained body of their little girl.
She owed it to them to bring back the beast’s head. She kept a close eye on the ground below, looking for the black furred bear. It fled into the nearby woods.
Tree cover was common but did not prevent much visibility to the ground. She knew it was fairly small, and packed a mean bite, but she had her stinger, positioned at the end of her armored tail.
The red scales a sign of her bloodline, a relative of the royal family. As such, it was her sworn duty to protect her people and hunt down those who threaten them.
Minutes of careful gazing and hearty flying later and she spied her prey, positioned by a tree and ravenously devouring a still live deer. She couldn’t help but pity the deer, dying to feed such a beast. She watched as it struggled, trying to escape.
Kata began to swoop down to the two animals. After she had killed the bear, she would put down the deer. It would only be right.
Tucking in her wings, she began to dive, twisting around a tree and notching an arrow into her bow. Pulling up from the dive to coast a mere 10 feet above the ground, she let the arrow loose, hitting the bear in the back of the neck.
It reared back, roaring in pain as she slung her bow and drew her sword. Coming in low and fast, nimbly twisting around trees, she let her momentum work for the cut as she held it out at an angle.
Simultaneously, she readied her tail to nab a quick sting on the beast just in case the sword wouldn’t prove lethal. Meer moments later her sword cut deep into the bear, dragging along its neck like a guillotine. It hadn’t cut as deep as she would’ve liked, so as she passed the beast she whipped her tail down onto its back, her stinger piercing its thick hide and quickly delivering a dose of paralyzing venom.
Pulling up, she began to loop back around for a second swipe. Agilely twisting mid air to avoid hitting branches. The bear had began turning to face her, stiffly moving as the venom did its work. Confident in its potency, Kata continued forward, sure that the bear would not be able to fight back.
Only as she got too close to turn away had she realized her confidence was for nought, as it reared up onto its hind legs and took a mighty swipe at her, knocking her to the ground and cutting a nasty gash into her face
. As she hit the floor, her head filled with a searing pain like staring into the sun. She began to worry that the bear had hit her far too hard for her to recover and fight back, until with a thunderous clap and bolt of blue light the pain disappeared.
She quickly clambered to her feet, ready to face the bear once more, but to her shock, the beast wasn’t charging her. In fact, before her eyes was not just a bear, but a large building of metal and strange stone.
To her astonishment, the bear started to roar in pain. Looking around for the cause, she noticed a concerning sight. Its rear quarter of its body was fused into the structure. She stepped forward, blood from her face dripping down her neck in non-concerning quantities, inspecting the odd building.
Matthew stared excitedly at the workshop before him.
The most interesting room of the Nevada General Laboratory. A research center for robotics, genetics, botany, and most relevantly, quantum physics.
The mainstay of the Quantum Physics Department was the Quantum Breach Array. Theoretically capable of creating a portal to any point in space, perhaps even time.
The prior test of the array had not gone smoothly. When it was activated, a black bear sized animal had bolted out and started attacking researchers, biting a technician in the shoulder before scurrying back through the array. He had shut it down as soon as he could.
Mostly ignoring a handful of warnings, his boss was too excited about the prospect laid before him to slow down the research. Matthew couldn’t fault him. He was always chasing something exciting, and ever since his career in the military the thrills had to be bigger and more intense.
Seeing as he had combat experience, they’d bought him a fairly sturdy set of equipment from a surplus depot and plopped him down in the room. His technical expertise and education were more than enough to run the necessary equipment.
Perhaps they had gone a bit overkill, with night vision, full body kevlar and plates, M4, 1911, and lever action shotgun, but over equipped was better than under, and he didn’t mind the extra firepower.
He waited until the PA system crackled to life as the words rang out, the excited voices of the skeleton crew in the building.
The Q.P supervisor, two Q.P researchers, and 4 researchers from other departments which wanted to be present for the test. Technically, he wasn’t part of the Q.P department. He was just a technician working with robotics, but he hadn’t minded the hasty change to his job description.
A flurry of quickly hushed voices echoed through the speaker, before a clear concise sentence was beheld.
“Activate the array.”
Like a good grunt, Matthew did as he was told. Walking to the console and starting the device.
He felt sick to his stomach as the array buzzed to life and forced a hole through time and space. An unnatural feeling to be sure.
Stepping away from the console, he heard a capacitor burst and looked up in horror as the array buzzed louder and louder, the blue orb in the middle starting to expand.
Stepping back to the console, he fiddled with the controls, trying to shut it down. Error message after error message met his attempts, before a blinding flash of blue light and a piercing headache pervaded his concentration with a thunderous, seering mental pain.
He hadn’t even had the time to fall to his knees before it dissipated, he went to take a step back, but felt something give resistance, turning around to see something which shouldn’t be there.
A shrub, phased into the floor, right behind him. Had he been standing just a foot back, he’d likely be part of the plant. Atleast, he would be taking up the same space. Something told him that would not be a pleasant experience.
Giving the workshop before him a quick survey, the array was scorched, but the machinery around it was fine. Lathes, drill presses, other machines. He noticed a few patches of grass poking through the concrete floor, as he began walking around around.
With his first real steps around the area, he felt light and airy. Picking up a nearby wrench and dropping it, he noticed as it accelerated down, it was about half the rate it normally should.
Excitement rose in his stomach as the implications were clear, he was in a new world.
He had to see the reactions of the others. Opening the workshop door, he quickly made his way to the observation room. It was close, despite not needing to be. They watched via cameras.
More shrubs and tree limbs littered the halls, which hardly slowed him down. Reaching the observation room, he tried to push the door open to no avail. Giving it a harder push, he heard the crunching of tree limbs. His gut sank with dread as he called out to no response
“Hello?”
He took a few steps back before charging the door with his shoulder, one hit. More crunching. A second, the door opened more, and a third hit forced the door open all the way.
What he saw within did not assuage his concern, as the room was filled with thick tree limbs. Through the leaves and branches he could see bits of lab coats. He could only mumble two words as reality dawned on him
“Dear God.”
All excitement vanished from his mind. He no longer desired to explore the new location before him. It had gotten people killed. Injuries can be treated, but catching a case of death?
Matthew took a deep breath, before closing the door to the observation room and walking down the hall. Heading towards an office, he opened the door and rummaged through one of his coworkers desks.
She was saving the bottle of whiskey for when the array was stable and could be reliably used, celebrating the hard work it took. It was a good bottle too, 20 years old. But she wasn’t going to drink it. None of the staff were, the facility has clearly moved.
The thought crossed his mind, imagine how confused the other departments must be when they show up for work in the morning. Pull into the gravel road, but no building meets them.
The thought of their confused faces forced a small grin on his face. But it didn’t last. Stepping over to a window, he gazed out to the landscape before him. It definitely was not the deserts of Nevada.
Placing his hand onto the window latch to open it, he felt a small static shock.
Kata walked up to the odd stone wall before her. It was quite bumpy and rough, looking as if it were sandstone, yet granite at the same time.
She wondered what it was, and where it was cut from. More importantly, she wondered how it got here. Godly intervention? A sorcerer messing up a spell?
Pulling her from her curious examination, the trapped, corrupt bear let out a low whine, as its forelimbs gave way, hanging awkwardly from its odd binds.
Walking over and hoisting her sword high, and bringing it down hard. Stabbing it between the eyes.
Thick black blood oozed out onto the blade, smelling like the rancid corruption it had been tainted with.
She was both concerned and angry. More and more tainted creatures had been popping up and they couldn’t find the source. It was frustrating, and she couldn’t do anything about it.
Corruption searches needed large, well trained units, along with plenty of supplies and squires. Searches took weeks, and it was imperative all casualties be accounted for. Such forces can only be mustered by houses which have months of preparation.
Returning to the building once more, she slowly outstretched her hand to touch it. Once her fingers neared close enough, a small arc zapped her fingers. Pulling her hand back with a small yelp she looked around, surprised.
The gears turned in her head, a weird building did a weird thing. Weird. But not weirder than it just showing up. Slowly reaching out to touch it again, focusing intently, she was startled by the sound of cracking from above.
She immediately drew her bow and notched an arrow, looking up to where the noise originated. She saw a hand pushing open a window, and acted automatically, letting the arrow loose straight at the hand, cutting a gash into its back.
Had it been parallel to the ground, the arrow would have cleanly pierced the palm. A yell sounded out from the open window followed by words. Foreign words, but words nonetheless.
Kata winced, she thought it was a threat, something tainted. But the corrupted don’t speak. If she were in that situation, she’d probably be swearing, so she guessed that’s what they were.
She called out to the voice, hoping they understood her
“Sorry! So sorry! I thought you could’ve been one of the corrupted!”
Slinging her bow and taking a few steps back, she leaped up to the window, beating her wings to gain more height on the jump. Grabbing onto the ledge and vaulting in, she continued to apologize, atleast, until she was cut off by another yell before a hard impact connected with her head
“OHB’JESUS”
She did not know what an “ohb’jesus” was but she certainly knew the person exclaiming that could pack a punch. Stumbling to her right, she bumped into a desk of sorts and used that to steady herself.
Looking at the person she accidentally attacked and who, to her, reasonably struck back, she was confused by the sight. They were not of her own people. They were slightly shorter than her, but a lot stockier. No wings, tail, or specialized ears. They had pale skin, a compact face, and weird legs. They also wore clothes made of a material unlike anything she’d seen before. They stood firmly, fists raised, ready to throw another punch, something she’d rather not have to deal with. She raised her hands out in front of her, in an expression of ‘lets calm down here, shall we?’
Matthew stood fists raised as a genuinely surprising sight stood before him. A manticore thing, though humanoid in posture. New world, new peoples he supposed. Regardless, he hadn’t expected to get shot nor for someone to just fly through the window, so he clocked them in the face.
He hadn’t hit too hard, but it still sent them stumbling to a desk. He was just about to throw another when they held up their hands.
Hopefully it meant the same thing to both parties, as he shifted his posture and took a step back.
Hopefully they were here to apologize, cause his hand hurt like hell. They began speaking, gesturing with their hands in what seemed like an apology, but Matthew couldn’t be certain. He had no clue what they were saying, new world and thus, new languages.
After a moment of confused staring, they pointed at his hand, to which he just gave a thumbs up. He thought they were offering to help with his hand, something which seemed like a nice gesture but Matthew knew he could fix it better. Unless they had magic.
Now that was something, the excitement of the situation wormed its way back into him.
He cautiously held out his hand, letting them come forward. He used that opportunity to get a good look at them.
They were slightly taller than him, like someone standing on their toes, and casting a quick glance down revealed that’s quite literally why. Their legs were digitigrade. Adding to that, they had wings, a scaled tail, and a mean looking stinger capping it off.
Looking at their face, it was odd. It looked like a shrunk down and slightly misshapen lion's head mixed with that of a humans.
After getting over the mild oddness of the sight, he noticed a mean cut on the side of their head, bleeding bright orange blood.
‘Wonder how they got that’
He thought to himself as he watched curiously as they began to take some items out of a bag. In short order he was disappointed to notice that they were rudimentary bandages.
He withdrew his hand and sighed, seeming to confuse the… person? He was going to go with a person. Before him. If his hand was simply going to be bandaged, he’d rather do it himself.
Walking over to a first aid kit, mounted just under a fire alarm, he opened it and took out a pack of zip stitches and a bandage. He gestured for the manticore person to come over, as he demonstrated the use of the supplies.
Apply the zip stitch, pull, adhere, and place a bandage over it. He gestured to their own injury. He might as well, at the very least, it could build some good will with the locals…

2024.05.11 23:21 tevvyline The ask questions and answer questions learning method has four types: General Question Learning Method (GQLM), Partial Question Learning Method (PQLM), Reading Question Learning Method (RQLM), and Characteristic Question Learning Method (CQLM).

The General Question Learning Method (GQLM) is a learning method that is done in a less systemic way than PQLM. GQLM 1 is done by asking yourself questions for every type of information you encounter. GQLM 2 is done by asking yourself questions for every type of information you feel like asking a question for. GQLM 1 ensures that most of the information is given the same amount of processing time. When you learn large amounts of information with GQLM 1, it will "cramp" the information in your mind which may cause some information to be not remembered and your mental state switching from a focused state to a tired state. To prevent this from happening, you should make sure to use GQLM 1 only when you are learning information from a book or a teacher that you can process easily. GQLM 1 may work well for processed information because the information is already familiar to you. GQLM 2 ensures that you do not get mentally tired from asking questions because you are not forced to ask questions for every type of information you encounter. GQLM 2 may cause you to remember less information, so other learning methods may be used for important information, such as test information. You can use GQLM 2 while learning information from a teacher if you are not fast enough at asking yourself questions during their class. Asking questions when you feel like it is called the "feel like effect".
The Partial Question Learning Method (PQLM) is a learning method that is done in a more systemic way than GQLM. PQLM ensures that the information asked as questions is remembered more easily than the information not asked as questions (Just reading the information). The Information closer to the information asked as questions is also remembered more easily than the information farther from the information asked as questions. PQLM is more effective when learning about complex information and information that has not been processed. Systemic PQLM is done by giving a "systemic number" or an "ask limit" to one or more types of questions. When you give a systemic number to a type of question, that question type's value starts at the systemic number and it decreases by 1 every time you let that type of question go unanswered. When the systemic number reaches 0, the next of that type of question will be asked and the systemic number will be reset back to its original starting value. When you give an ask limit to a type of question, that question type's value starts at 0 and it increases by 1 every time you ask that type of question. When you reach the ask limit, you will not be allowed to ask that type of question again until its value goes below the ask limit. A question type affected by an ask limit decreases its value every time you let it go unanswered. Wh- question PQLM is done by choosing one or more wh- questions (what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why, how) and asking questions only with those questions. You should make sure to choose the right questions when learning about something. For example, if you are learning in history class about what people did in the past, you can choose "what", "who", and "when" or you can choose only "who" and "when". Notice that the wh- question "what" is one of the most frequently asked questions, so choosing "what" will give you much more questions to ask yourself. Wh- question PQLM may look like GQLM 1, but it has slight differences depending on the wh- questions you choose.
The Reading Learning Method (RQLM) is a learning method that is done in a less "answer way" than GQLM and PQLM learning methods. RQLM 1 is done by asking questions about all the information you encounter while you are reading and not focusing on answering those questions. If your mind answers the questions automatically, it still counts as RQLM 1 because RQLM 1 is about not focusing on answering the questions. This learning method may be useless to some people, but it has some advantages. When you only ask questions without answering them while studying, you can remember the questions after you finish studying and you can try to answer them based on the information you learned while using RQLM 1. Asking questions without answers to them is called the "no answer effect". Repeating RQLM is done by remembering a question or answer of the previous information you learned while reading the next part of that information. For example, if you read the first and second sentence of a text, you will try to remember the question/answer of the first sentence. After you will read the third sentence of that text and then you will try to remember the question/answer of the second sentence of that text. Repeating RQLM can be used for things other than sentences such as previous classes in school, previous conversations with a person, etc. Remembering questions or answers from previous information is called the "repeating effect".
The characteristic question learning method (CQLM) is a learning method that focuses on the characteristics of questions/answers such as when they are asked, what is the result from them, and how are the questions/answered asked/said. CQLM 1 is done by using complete and partial question/answers. -- A complete question/answer is a sentence such as [question] "(when) (name of person) (action or event)?" and [answer] "(name of person) (action or event) (date)" of a person in history class. -- A partial question/answer is a sentence such as [question] "(when) (pronoun) (action or event)?" and [answer] "(pronoun) (action or event) (date)" of a person in history class. A partial question/answer is not specific because it is missing a part. In this case, you are missing the person's name which is important for memory. Time CQLM is done by using short and long part questions/answers. -- Short part questions/answers are asked/said before you read or hear a full part of the information. -- Long part questions/answers are asked/said after you read or hear a full part of the information. Mental image CQLM is done by using mental image questions/answers. -- Mental image questions/answers are used by making a mental image of the information based off what the question/answer's demand is. For example, if you start reading a paragraph and you know that it will tell you about a carbon atom's structure, you can ask a complete short part mental image question before reading the paragraph by making a mental image of a hydrogen atom (it is the simplest atom and you can add more details to it after reading the paragraph to make your carbon atom). When you finish reading the paragraph, you can answer the question with a complete long part mental image answer by making a mental image of a carbon atom based off the information in the paragraph and labeling every part you add to it (electron, proton, neutron, shell) and using the "hydrogen atom" as a starting point.
You can combine different types of GQLM, PQLM, RQLM, and CQLM together to make type combinations. Type combinations are used to fulfill different types of needs. Each learning method has types called inner types. When types from other learning methods are involved with the inner types, they are called outer types. The learning methods GQLM, PQLM, and RQLM have both inner type combinations and outer type combinations. Outer type combinations are made when you combine inner types and outer types together (Ex. Repeating RQLM and Wh- question PQLM). Inner type combinations are made when you combine inner types together (Ex. Systemic PQLM and Wh- question PQLM). Standard form combinations include GQLM 1, GQLM 2, Systemic PQLM, Wh- question PQLM, RQLM 1, Repeating RQLM, and Mental image RQLM. Adding more types to your combinations will promote them to triple type combinations, quadruple type combinations, and so on.
When you switch types, it is called a "switch". When you switch types, it is called a "switch". A switch can be performed by removing one or more of the types you are using and adding one or more types in their places or some of their places. There are two different categories of switches:
[Transfer switch] Inner type to inner type Inner type combination to inner type combination [Transformation switch] Inner type to outer type Inner type combination to outer type combination Outer type combination to outer type combination
A switch can have effects on the new type(s) you are using based on the removed types and how long you were using the removed types. The effects of a removed type may only appear if you used the removed type a significant amount of time before the switch. If you used the removed type for a very little amount of time and you switch, its effect may be less significant or may not even be recognizable.
Switch effect explanations:
Ghost questions and answers are forced questions/answers that get asked/answered while reading information that you don't give questions/answers on. Sometimes ghost questions and ghost answers appear at the same time and sometimes only one of them appears at a time.
Ghost mental images are mental images that appear in your mind when you are reading or hearing information that you are not focusing on making mental images.
Ghost wh- question words are wh- question words that appear in your mind while learning about something and reading or hearing the information.
Category memory is when you think about a standard form combination or type combination and get reminded of the information that you learnt with that standard form combination or type combination.
When you start learning information, you will encounter simple information, complex information, and mixed information (simple and complex information). You can add a S, C, or M to your standard form combination or type combination to indicate when to use it. For example, standard form combination S GQLM 1.
You can also add question learning style letters. P for processing and NP for non processing. For example, standard form combination MP systemic PQLM switch to SNP GQLM 1. Notice the simple, complex, and mixed information letters go before the question learning style letters.
Complete and partial question/answer (CQLM 1):
Short and long part question/answer (Time CQLM):
Wh- question word question/answer (Related to wh- question PQLM):
Mental image questions/answers (Mental image CQLM):
Complete and partial questions/answers can modify: -- short and long part questions/answers -- mental image questions/answers Short and long part questions/answers can modify: -- complete and partial questions/answers -- wh- question word questions/answers -- mental image questions/answers

Question and answer: When and How to ask questions when information is an/a: Example: asking questions about information in an example is optional because examples are used to make the reader understand the information they are reading better (most of the time).
List: asking questions about information in a list is recommended because a list is typically harder to memorize than other information types such as definitions.
Fact (facts that are not in lists): asking questions about information that are facts is recommended because facts are easy to memorize, even by reading them without asking questions. You can save time memorizing by asking questions about facts.
Remember that these recommendations don't have to work for everyone. You can make your own combinations if you want to.
[Rules for combining types] 1.. The square brackets [ ] show the order for combining. For example, you first combine the types inside the smallest square bracket and then you start using the types outside of that bracket to change certain attributes of the types in the smallest square bracket. (Rule 12). 2.. The letter A (affector) is used for types that affect E or M types.Types in a double type combination can not be both affectors. 3.. The letter E (effector) is used for types that get affected by affector types. Types in a double type combination can be both Effectors. Being an effector type bring out the type's natural rules such as choose a number or choose wh- questions in double type combinations, but does not combine them. Two E types can be unusable if there is no A type next to them. Additionally, if every type in a combination is an E type, it can be a switch combination. Switch combinations represent what standard form combinations or type combinations you can switch while learning. 4.. When a type can be both an A and E type, the letter M (mixed) is used. M types can not affect A types, but they can affect E types and M types. 5.. When starting the combination process, you go from left to right. If an A type has an E type next to it, you will combine them both. If an A type has an A type next to it, that A type will "hop" over its A type neighbour and keep hopping over other A types until it finds an E or M type to combine with. 6.. The phrase (number) part time is used to indicate the target of a type (what type they want to combine with). The number starts at 0 in the position of the closest E or M type to the right of the type affected by part time, and it increases by 1 every time you reach another type to the right of it. You need to increase the value of the number to the number of the part time. 7.. Full time is used to indicate that a type's targets are every E or M type to its right. 8.. The symbol / is used to indicate "floors of combinations". When the / symbol is used, some types are sorted into (type)/ and /(type). There are two floors and it is behind the / and after the /. This symbol is used to lower the space required for combining. If a type doesn't have a / symbol and it has neighbor types with the / symbol, it affects them both if they can be targeted. 8.. The multiplication sign × indicates an added rule and the addition sign + and the subtraction sign − indicates adding or subtracting types. 9.. In very specific cases of combinations, there can be an object (OB) that you can either add or subtract to one or more types. A and M types can not affect objects. 10.. Letters are used to simplify the combination process. The letters A for affector, E for effector, M for mixed, and OB for object are added before type letters. Part time and full time are added before the letters A, E, M, and OB and are separated by a space. For example 2PT AG1. [Type letters] GQLM 1 = G1 GQLM 2 = G2 Systemic PQLM = SP Wh- question PQLM = WP (Number) part time = (number) PT Full time = FT 11.. The types outside of the smallest square bracket [ ] can affect attributes in different ways of the combined types in the smallest square bracket. They sometimes do not act the same like the types in the smallest square bracket. GQLM 1 = make something be asked all the time or remove something. Ex. [1PT AWP × AG1 [MSP × MWP × EG1]] = one or more wh- questions chosen by Wh- question PQLM can have their systemic number removed, making them asked all the time. The AG1 is targeting MSP and this means AG1 removes the systemic number for one or more wh- questions. GQLM 2 = change a specific attribute of a type. Ex. [1PT AWP × AG2 [MSP × MWP × EG1]] = one or more wh- questions chosen by Wh- question PQLM can have their systemic number increased or decreased. The AG2 is targeting MSP and this means AG2 increases or decreases the systemic number for one or more wh- questions. Wh- question PQLM = choose one or more. Examples [1PT AWP × AG1 [MSP × MWP × EG1]] and [1PT AWP × AG2 [MSP × MWP × EG1]] have both an outside Wh- question PQLM. The 3PT AWP type is targeting the MWP type and this means "choose one or more wh- questions". Systemic PQLM = choose a number for the second result of something. First result and second results: -- systemic number: first result is not asking one question with the value of the systemic number decreasing by 1 and second result is asking one question when the value decreases to 0. -- ask limit: first result is asking one question with the value of the ask limit increasing by 1 and the second result is not asking one question with the value of the ask limit decreasing by 1. Ex. [ASP x [MSP x EG1]] (systemic number for all types of questions) = means that all types of questions get a systemic number and once the systemic number reaches 0, you ask a certain number of questions chosen by the number of the ASP. RQLM 1 = reverse something Ex. [AR1 x 1PT MSP [MG1 x ESP]] (ask limit for all types of questions) = means that the MSP first choses how much the ask limit value of all questions decreases when not answering a question (asking a question can increase the ask limit value by 1 and not answering a question can decrease the ask limit value by 3). The "second result" turns into a "first result" target for the MSP when the AR1 affects it. This means that you can choose how much the ask limit value of all questions types increases when asking a question. If you want to affect both the first result and the second result, you can make the combination [AR1 x 1PT MSP x 1PT ASP [MG1 x ESP]]. Repeating RQLM = change one of a type's characteristic when the characteristic is used one time. Ex. [1PT RQ [MSP x EG1]] (systemic number for all types of questions) = means that the RQ choses the starting value of the systemic number every time the systemic number reaches 0. For example, the starting value of a systemic number could be 4 and after it reaches 0, it could be 2. 13.. When combining, you need to find the highest number of possible combinations. For example, [ASP x AWP x EG1] = a systemic number is given to all types of questions + all the wh- questions chosen are asked all the time.
[Standard form combinations] -- [AG1 × EG2] = GQLM 1 -- [AG2 × EG1] = GQLM 2 -- [ASP × EG1] = Systemic PQLM -- [AWP × EG1] = Wh- question PQLM -- [AR1 × EG1] = RQLM 1 -- [ARR × EG1] = Repeating RQLM -- [C1 x EG1] = CQLM 1 -- [TC x EG1] = Time CQGLM -- [AMC × EG1] = Mental image CQLM [Standard form switch combinations] --[[AG1 × EG2] + [AG2 × EG1]] = GQLM 1 and GQLM 2 can be switched. -- [[ASP × EG1] + [AWP × EG1]] = Systemic PQLM and Wh- question PQLM can be switched. -- [[AG1 × EG2] + [ASP × EG1]] = GQLM 1 and Systemic PQLM can be switched. and so on... Standard form combinations are not counted as double type combinations.
Definitions:
Some of these double type combinations are unusable and may be useful in triple type combinations, quadruple type combinations, and so on. The main reasons these double type combinations can not be used are:
  1. No GQLM 1 or GQLM 2 type in the combination. GQLM 1 is like a "field" for questions. GQLM 1 is commonly modified to make combinations. GQLM 2 can also be modified, but it makes everything become optional. GQLM 2 is used more often to change attributes of types.
  2. One or both of the types have no functions in the combination.
Symbol meanings: [1] all the wh- questions chosen by Wh- question PQLM [2] given a non shared systemic number [3] given a non shared ask limit [4] choose a number [5] choose one or more wh- questions [6] ask questions for every type of information you encounter [7] given a shared ask limit [8] given a shared systemic number [9] all types of questions [1/] mental image questions [1Y] one or more wh- questions can have their ask limit (GQLM 1) removed or one or more wh- questions can have their ask limit (GQLM 2) increased or decreased. Symbol meanings (simplified): [13] all the wh- question chosen are given a non shared ask limit. [17] all the wh- questions chosen are given a shared ask limit. [1Y] one or more wh- questions can have their ask limit (AG1) removed, making those wh- questions asked all the time/one or more wh- questions can have their ask limit (AG2) increased or decreased, making some wh- questions have different ask limits. [12] all the wh- question chosen are given a non shared systemic number. [18] all the wh- question chosen are given a shared systemic number. [1X] one or more wh- questions can have their systemic number (AG1) removed, making them asked all the time/one or more wh- questions can have their systemic number (AG2) increased or decreased, making some wh- questions have different systemic numbers. [98] a shared systemic number is given to all types of questions. [97] a shared ask limit is given to all types of questions. [1Z] all the wh- question's chosen are asked all the time.
