When I am around people I am not 100% relaxed with, especially all my co-workers at work, I worry constantly that I have a bad breath, so I avoid talking directly to them and I get really uncomfortable.
I believe the reasons for these worries is the taste I get in my mouth when I am around people, which is a bit of a bittesour taste. This gives me the impression that my breath stinks as well, and I even sometimes think that I can smell it sometimes.
I think it goes something like this: social situation->anxiety/stress->bad taste in mouth->thoughts about having a bad breath (at that moment I think it is most likely to be the case that I have bad breath)
I believe I saw a co-worker stepping back when I decided to ignore my worries for 1 second and speak directly to him. But this could also be untrue/misinterpreted.
If you are so kind to help me, these guide questions could help:
-Does a bad taste in my mouth imply that my breath stinks as well?
-How does this bad taste come about and what can I do about it?
-Any other way you can offer me advice or help to reduce or even stop my anxiety, so that I can talk with people and get to know them, without having to worry about this? (Please)
Thank you
Additional information:
-18 Year old Male
-I would say my dental hygiene is good, I brush twice a day and I restarted with flossing once or twice a day. I don't have the impression the taste comes from my teeth, but rather from my tongue (especially the back, I clean my tongue everyday as well) and troath.
-Depression and anxiety symptoms have been present and are being treated.
