2024.04.23 00:57 estaswick There should be a part here right??

Been really frustrated by this husqy 460 all weekend, I replaced the cylinder and piston due to scoring/low compression. Now I can not get it to start, constant flooding and if it does start it races like crazy and dies.
Took it apart again to look at the carb and realized "thats odd, this idle screw is just sitting in here and does nothing" seems the lever it presses on to adjust has vibrated out??? This must be my issue right? I've ordered a new carb and will just swap it all but Im having a hard time imagining that just falling off.

Jonsereds Knife Collection
These are a special set of knives to me. My wife’s father passed away back in 2015 just before we married. I was fortunate enough to inherit these knives of his. I don’t know the back story, if these knives were part of a giveaway with the purchase of some Jonsereds yard equipment, he had a chainsaw and a weed whipper by Jonsereds, or if he just purchased them. He liked his Scandinavian steel, I also got a nice Hults Bruk double bit axe of his - made in Sweden.
HELLE BARD - ARTEMIS HISKIE S. BERKEMAN DESIGN Made in Norway
AB ВАНСО - 3921 SWEDISH MILITARY SURVIVAL COMBAT KNIFE w/ built in sharpening stone on back of sheath (1966 to 1997) manufactured in Norway by Helle company.
KJ MORA - 1701 - KJ ERIKSSON “JÄGAREN” THE HUNTER Made in Sweden
What do you all think of them? Anyone else here have these knives by chance?

2024.01.11 08:37 ssgtsiler My G366 meets my "new" 036 Pro - an odd family portrait and a longer story

Finally bought a saw after years of using them professionally for 10+ years (wildfire), ended up getting the G336 clone, and have been using it for firewood pretty intensively for the last the 4 months. Really enjoying it.
The other day, I was able to pick up an 044 (will probably need a top end rebuild), 036, 290, and 039 (not pictured) for very, very, VERY cheap at an informal estate sale.
All had been sitting outside for who knows how long; the 036 was in the best condition and still had oil and gas in it. The others were worse- The 044 was frozen due to the spark plug missing, the 290 was in okay condition, I'm bet I can get it to run. Biggest surprise was stumbling the 039 hidden in the grass a few days later when I came back for other items.
All the plastic is pretty well aged from the sun exposure, and there's literally plants growing out of the chainsaws.
However I've gotten the major removable body parts of them cleaned up, managed to evapo rust the bars and chins, the 036 runs and cuts. Got a little carried away today and started disassembling the 039 for cleaning. Debating on whether I even need to clean every little nook and cranny, If I do, I'll have to disassemble the engine and pull the clutch etc. It's been awhile since I've done that.
Likely going to keep the 044 as a project since that's one of my favorite saws. As for the others, not sure. I have previous experience with the 044, but not the other models. Probably going to fix and sell the 290 Farm Boss? The 036 and 039 I'll take suggestions from the crowd on....
Also grabbed a Jonsered 2036 Turbo from the same place just for the hell of it.
There were probably three or four random plastic Homelite saws just laying around as well.

2023.10.29 05:26 BackdoorBrain Trouble shooting help

Hey everyone,
I have an old Jonsered Chainsaw. Just a little guy, I can absolutely get the specs for it if necessary. BUT... i ran it today and it is having a major problem im not sure what could be causing it and im a little worried its going to blow up.
I would run it. Full tank, good running speed, worked great. Then about 3 or 4 times in the day, after working it for a while, it would suddently take off into suuuuuuuper high revs, not stopping ramping up, I would let off the throttle and it would absolutely struggle to stay at idol and wanted to shut off. If i gave it a shot of gas, it would sputter and heavily bog-down and if i held down the throttle it would die almost instantly as-if not getting enough, or getting too much fuel. But, again, only aglfter running great for about 5 - 10 mins, then do the same routine and die. I tried it filling the tank and not filling the tank and it was the same problem both times in the same mannor. Runs for 5-10, then takes off, then wants to shut down.
What.. the hell... could it be!?!?
Any help is welcome, thank you all in advance.

2023.10.11 14:38 bllbong I've got a question about fuel mixtures.

I climb, cut trees, and do landscaping for a living and have been for over 15 years now. I run 50:1 in every piece of equipment I have and have never had a problem. Weed eaters, leaf blowers, chainsaws, everything I have. My father did the same and I've even inherited some of his old saws like his jonsered 2051 turbo which is a blast to run and his jonsered 110 both of which are more than 30 years old and they've all been treated the same way, 50:1. People sometimes point out that I'm ruining these items by doing this and I just don't see it. I'm not even picky about the oil I use an everything runs topps without issues. Does anyone else do this?

2023.10.03 20:33 SPAM____007 Help With Carving Bars For A Chainsaw

Hello all!
Before I get to the meat of this thing I just wanted to say I'm waiting for approval to post in the Chainsaw carving group, but just wanted to see if I would have any luck here while I wait. I hope that's ok!
My father retired a few years ago and has recently (past year) gotten into chainsaw carving. He's been an artist his entire life in different mediums, but as I mentioned before is pretty green when it comes to this. He obtained an Oregon CS1500 earlier this year and that's what he's been mainly using. Although he's having a lot of trouble finding a carving bar for it. He called Oregon and they told him they didn't distribute them anymore and referred him to their distributor Baileys.
I've looked on the Baileys website and downloaded their catalog. It does have Oregon brand stuff in the catalog, but I didn't see carving bars. On the actual website though they did have a section to find a carving bar for your chainsaw, but didn't have Oregon listed under the compatible manufacturers. These were the companies listed:
  1. Husqvarna 160
  2. Poulan/PoulanPRO 133
  3. Jonsered 129
  4. Dolmar 127
  5. Efco 126
  6. Makita 123
  7. Solo 113
  8. Stihl 105
  9. Shindawa (SDK) 84
  10. Partner 81
  11. McCulloch 67
  12. Homelite 60
  13. RedMax 52
  14. Tanaka 52
  15. Echo 48
  16. Fairmount Hydraulic 38
  17. Worx 29
  18. Pioneer 18
Just wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction on this. Are any of the above brands compatible with an Oregon chainsaw or is that just not a thing? Just trying to help my dad out and I have no idea about this stuff. Thank you for anyone who takes the time to comment! I appreciate it.

2023.08.08 18:08 bladeplate Fallen tree after storm

Had a bad storm here yesterday in NE Georgia.
Discovered this large tree at the back of my property. The giant root ball uprooted and took out a section of fence .
I have chainsaw gear and a pretty nice jonsered chainsaw but think I’m gonna pass this onto the professionals. Looking for some guidance on what’s the right way of dealing with the root ball.
The trees (there’s two that fell together) are on county owned green space which borders our property so don’t have a plan to dispose or touch them.
Can the stump be cut close to the ground and allow the rootball to fall back in the ground and fill the crater that formed ?

2022.11.03 00:48 SnooCheesecakes1065 tell me about the Jonsered 451ev

Scored a deal on a working Jonsered 451ev chainsaw for $50 that I'll be picking up I'm the next few days. Besides the fact that it's a 44cc "pro saw" was designed for limbing, I can't find much other info on it. Anyone know anything about this model?

2022.10.22 06:01 ike99jr Tips on restoring an ol Jonsered

Received an old Jonsered chainsaw from my grandpa andbwould like to restore it to carry part of him with me (suffering badly from Alzheimer's). I would like to restore it on my own if possible. My dad may help but I would like to give it a try first. It isn't seized as far as I know and I've yet to flush the current liquids out and put new liquids in. Looking for any insight on the restoration process.

2022.07.21 13:46 JLearie Jonsered 2045 Turbo Choke

I have a Jonsered 2045 turbo that is currently not running. I’m working on getting the carb adjusted after removing it for cleaning.
The saw was running rough last year, hence the carb cleaning. I have noticed that the choke lever does not lock. Is this normal for these saws? I’m fairly new to chainsaws so I’m not sure how to engage the choke on this one without it locking.

2022.06.30 00:05 BackdoorBrain Carb from hell!

Hey everyone.
I have been trying, searching, pulling, sweating, and pulling srom frigging more and i CANNOT find.... ANYWHERE some sort of guidance in how to tune a carb WHEN IT DOESNT IDOL!! Holly shit, ive found hundreds of videos/articles that , after the rediculiously long intro, say "first step, start and let your chainsaw idol for a few mins"... after finding myself getting frustrated with this sentence, i knew it was time to turn here.
Short form:
Its a new carb
Ran last summer
Ran this summer ( after tuning)
Now, refuses to start or sputter
Engine is getting gas, plug has spark
There is compresson from how hard it can be to pull ( its a Jonsered 535)
Can anyone PLEASE guide me on how to tune a completly, not running, not spuddering , out of tune carb??
Thank you.

Can anyone tell me of a good source for service and parts manuals for chainsaws and other small gas engines (2 & 4 stroke)?
Amongst others. I'm looking for a service manual for a Jonsered CS2238S saw.
I've downloaded the operator and parts manuals from the Jonsered site but can't seem to locate the service manual.
