2024.05.15 15:56 Mysterious_Source_ An old Microsoft ad with kittens
I designed a font like a decade ago, and it was used in an ad for Microsoft. I’m trying to find it again and have lost the screenshot :(
I think it was about PowerPoint and there was a little girl with dark hair. The screenshot was a blue sky with clouds and a kitten with some text underneath.
Does anyone remember?!

2024.05.14 22:12 fedex7501 Circular motion animation
I have the following slide:
https://preview.redd.it/e34bk83e8g0d1.png?width=827&format=png&auto=webp&s=54a35e6b772a15426d0a5cb2d12b63fa3be655da I would like to animate the circles so that they rotate like a revolver, while keeping the text upright.
I tried using the "Arc" Path Animation but i couldn't make the bezier curve look like a fifth of a circle.
I also tried grouping the circles together and applying the spin animation to the group which kinda works but the text rotates too.
Any ideas? BTW, i'm using PowerPoint 16 on Mac.
(Also, i know that the circles aren't correctly arranged and one of them has a smaller font, it hurts my eyes too)

2024.05.13 08:00 Pink__Fox Finally posting Costco Grocery Prices for 2024
| Hello everyone! I am from Mississauga, Ontario. I have been working on a Costco Grocery Price Chart for the members of this sub. I started in February, 2024, when I had a hysterectomy surgery due to a high risk for endometrial cancer (that in itself should be another boycott of Canadian Health Care). Anyways, I hated my recovery time and wanted to divert my attention from the pain and so I decided to make an excel chart. This sheet helps me get a 99% exact price of my groceries before going to Costco. I get a visual of my budget where my goal is to stick to $100 a week (which is very tight with two kiddos and 2 adults). I mentioned only 99% and not 100% because the 1% accounts for the taxes and the small price increases they do every few months. This sheet will also help you see the price difference between other stores, Instacart and Costcos online store so you can make an informed decision. I have only ever used Instacart maybe 3-4 times since Feb when my pain got the best of my and my husband was working that day and couldn’t go to the store. I know this chart is not perfect and it doesn’t have everything but I tried my best. I do majority of the grocery shopping and some items (like the treats section) I specifically went in just to note down the prices. The produce and meat section is always crowded so I didn’t get a chance to catch pictures of all the items BUT I’m going to try my best to do it and in a few months post another update to the sheet. My apologies for it not having all the items. I tried to make separate columns for the name of the product, weight of product, number of items, price per unit but it was getting too hard on the eyes and I wanted to make it a little easy to read otherwise it would have just been endless columns everywhere. I am open to suggestions on improving the chart and also if you can help me properly name one group called “Extra Stuff”. I just don’t know how to categorize this one. I first wanted to share the excel sheet but figured pictures would be more easily accessible and available in phones to view at all times. I just did Print Screen in Excel and Converted the PNG files to JPEG in Paint. When I came to Canada 15 years ago from Pakistan as a young tween, I was in awe of your grocery stores. My favourite used to be Costco, Loblaws and Nofrills. Very disheartening to see what the Loblaws company is doing to its Canadian citizens. I hope this helps you in your grocery shopping as it has helped me a lot. submitted by Pink__Fox to loblawsisoutofcontrol [link] [comments] |

https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap21-frq-english-language.pdf?course=ap-english-language-and-composition For centuries handwriting has been our primary source of documenting data, but is it still currently? With digital technology reaching into everyones' back pockets the decline of handwriting is evident. Email's have replaced letters, Word has replaced note taking, powerpoint has replaced posters, and many more. Even though handwriting is a great skill to have, and can help you with other aspects in life, its pragmatic uses are continuously declining. Thus it should not be focused on in school as a mandated class but rather as an elective.
Undoubtably, handwriting has major benefits, more than just the physical writing it self. Cursive script is proven to develop fine motor skills and improve mental organization (SOURCE D). Even though cursive handwriting has such benefits, the uses it posses in the everyday world are exponentially declining. What would be the point of focusing valuable education time on forcing every student to learn cursive? It would be absurd, if they want to do it, they can choose to in the form of an elective. It would be deranged to force woodworking kids to join the band, same applies here. Or it would be the same thing as forcing every student to learn French, Japanese, Spanish, and Arabic, indisputably learning many languages has great benefits to one's mind, but it should be a choice especially since it is not used in everyday life. Or as SOURCE E states, Super Mario Bros can develop better motor skills. Another important factor to consider on WHY we should make it optional is its [handwriting and cursives] roots. The real reason we adopted such writing habits in the 19th century was to make our national identity and our sense of uniqueness. We differed from other scripts not limited too but including the Gothic script, or the Palmer method because they were connoted to different cultures (SOURCE C), we adopted this so we can show we are different, however in todays world that matters very little because everyone has the same Sans Serif font in their inboxes (font gmail uses). Vouching the fact that we should not make it a necessity at school for children to learn at school.
Even though mandating such a dying subject could potentially revive it, there is no practical need to do so. Doing so would most likely do more harm than good. SOURCE B portrays one of the thousands of worksheets teachers would have to print for every student to strenuously practice their cursive writing. We all know that deforestation is hurting our climate. Badly. So why waste even more paper, especially on children who have no interest in learning the skill as well. It is like buying a $100,000 racecar for a student who has no interest in racing. What will it lead to? Immense waste. To reiterate. The printing of worksheets should be encouraged for children who want to learn the skill of cursive handwriting, but shouldn't be forced upon everyone. There would be no point in encouraging penmanship in school since post-school the focus is towards technology, after all school is meant to prepare us for the future (SOURCE A). Schools that are focusing on it should reconsider and put more effort into preparing the children for the future. In 2013, writing on paper was on average 2x than writing with technology (SOURCE F), that is however 11 years ago and if numbers like that are still prominent, school administration should reconsider.
The point of school is to be prepared for the future. In today's world penmanship is almost extinct, and in tomorrow's world it will be extinct. Technology is more efficient to use, saves the environment, and is the standard for today. So why force children in learning something that will not have technical use to everyone. It [cursive handwriting] should be more of an optional elective, like woodworking or coding.

2024.05.12 21:45 MagellanStrategies What is the best approach to creating a PowerPoint template PP for Mac?
Hey friends. I run a public opinion research firm, and we create a PowerPoint slide deck for every project. I am looking for ways to cut down on the time to create the PP. One obvious approach is to create a template that only uses our preferred font (Roboto) and graph colors. What would you suggest is the best approach? Creating a PP template, or are there other ways to be more efficient? Any tips or suggestions are welcome. Thx

2024.05.12 09:36 ryzen98 My 50 cents while going on a job hunt
Resume Section Order
In general,
- Once you've graduated from school and have started a full-time job:
- Work Experience > Skills > Education, or
- Skills > Work Experience > Education
- If you're a student/new grad without much work experience:
- Education > Work Experience > Skills, or
- Education > Work Experience > Projects (if you don't have sufficient work experience) > Skills
- If you don't have any technical work experience:
- Education > Projects > Work Experience > Skills
- If you don't have any work experience at all:
- Education > Projects > Volunteer Experience/Extracurriculars > Skills
- Do not include a summary/profile unless you're a seniostaff engineer or above, making a career change, or addressing an unemployment gap/returning to the workforce
- Do not include a references section
Things to remember while writing resume
Use a modern,
easy-to-read font like Calibri, Charter, Arial, Lato, or Helvetica.
- Don't use grey-colored fonts since they're hard to read. Stick to black. Make sure to use a color that is printable in grey-scale. Be careful about using fonts that are too thin. Verify there is sufficient contrast with a white background.
- Don't justify text since it causes inconsistent spacing between words. https://imgur.com/6eKsENw
- Don't italicize text since it can decrease the readability of your resume.
- Don't bold keywords within your bullet points, it's distracting.
- Italicization and bolding are only to be used if used sparingly. Excessive italicization and bolding decrease readability and ultimately contradict their purpose: emphasis.
- Italicization, ALL-CAPS, and bolding, if used, should be used independently of each other.
- Don't indent sections and bullet points. There's already indentation since the bullets themselves create an indent.
- Separate your sections clearly for optimal readability and visual clarity
- Ensure there is sufficient and consistent white space between sections/subsections
- Ensure there is sufficient and consistent white space between each job/project
- Ensure there are sufficient vertical and horizontal margins (minimum 0.5 inches) https://imgur.com/LC6AS8r

2024.05.10 10:48 JapanOfGreenGables Is size 10 font Calibri too small for a cover letter for a TT position?
This is in the social sciences.
I really want this job and think I am a strong candidate. I'm finding it hard to fit everything in to two pages, but with 10 size font, it fits. I don't
think am being too verbose and wordy, and don't know what to remove.
And so,
AskAcademia , I ask you... is size 10 font too small?
EDIT: I thought I should add that this is for a position that's cross-appointed to two departments. It's not that I think this changes the norms of cover letters, but rather to help understand why I feel like I have a lot to say in this particular case. If all else fails, maybe I can toy with shrinking my departmental letterhead a bit or the margins to make things fit if I can't chop out more writing or condense it... but it really feels like 10 size font is the best option.
EDIT #2: Message received! I submitted my job application, and was able to edit it down more, and submitted with a larger font size. Thank you to everyone who applied. A very special thank you to those who were kind. Those who weren't and said things like this was a skill issue, you may be right, but please understand how much things like that can sting right now for people like me on the job market and are struggling to make ends meet. It doesn't come across as tough love. It comes across as you criticizing us when we came to ask for help.

ActiveX Option Buttons has black box around it when printing. Office 365 version 2402.
Form controls Check boxes are printing normally. ActiveX Option buttons are not.
They have a black box around them. Current Properties setting. I have 30 ActiveX Option buttons, in 16 groups. (for now) and 28 check boxes. The ActiveX Option buttons 3-22 have VBA code assigned to them to fill out/ make changes to the form I am making.
Note: Printers are managed by my workplace, I would assume/hope drivers are up to date.

2024.05.08 20:50 AdSignificant8810 How to use mail merge to create a meeting agenda?
Hey guys I am generally really good with mail merge when it comes to creating multiple of the same letters addressed to different people as it is intended but this has me stumped. I am trying to use mail merge to insert multiple different instances of data for a meeting agenda. For context it is a meeting to review some legal cases. The screenshots below are of made up information to protect privacy.
I have to create one master document of all the cases to be reviewed in their specific order(I have them in order on excell). The problem I am running into is that it is inserting the first set of data for each instance in the entire document. Is there anyway around this? Also good to note is I do not have administrative access to download any additional programs or add ins to this computer.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks !

2024.05.06 23:26 Reddit-girl22 Bar Exam Font Choice
Hi all, Random question, but for those who plan to take the MEE via the laptop program using examsoft, do you change the font? I think the default one is arial, and I prefer either Calibri or Times New Roman, but I'm not sure if it would be advisable to change the font for exam purposes. Also, on a separate note I seen many people reference critical flash pass cards - is this a type of program like adaptibar etc? Or are people just making their own flash cards?
