2024.05.19 02:30 NationalTalk7222 GameCube emulation
Hi everyone, my Odin 2 is on its way and I’m beginning my Roms catalogue for its arrival. I found the ps2 Roms with no issues… but I’m curious as to what file type is needed for GameCube. Can I use either .ciso or .rvz. Are they interchangeable or is there a specific kind I need to download? I would hate to wait until the Odin arrive and waste time trying to figure this out when I can have this ready before it hits my mailbox.

2024.05.19 02:28 abx337 Windows 10, version 22H2. Screen Snip doesn’t launch
Beginner here, so if more info is needed please let me know.
Win 10 Pro. Screen Snip doesn’t launch from the icon or hitting Win+Shift+S. If I right click on the icon and hit “Open Screensnip” nothing happens. I can run snippingtool.exe and select New and it works, but not from the icon in the Action Center.
"Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features," find the Snipping Tool in the list, click on it, and select "Advanced options." Then click on "Repair." Nothing.
"Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features," find the Snipping Tool in the list, click on it, and select "Advanced options." Then click on "Reset." Nothing.
My Admin account doesn’t have permission to access the WindowsApps folder to run IGCCTray.exe. Is that a related (bigger) problem?
I tried running sfc /scannow (sfc.exe) and the window flickers then nothing runs.
In the WindowsApp security tab, I don’t see my every day user profile, just the Admin Account. Under Users(myusername), “Access control entry is corrupt. Delete it and create a new one.” Will that delete my main user folder?
No updates done before it happened. I’ll reboot now. If it’s not resolved, I checked Windows update and got an error:
There were problems downloading some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x80092010) Intel System driver.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowserveforum/all/snipping-tool-issues-in-latest-updates-server-2022/0cde01fc-8a55-4e96-920d-db78bdfe3319 suggests uninstalling KB5032198 and KB5033118, but I’m not seeing either update.
If it’s related, I also have Snip and Sketch installed and runs ok. If I use the Print Screen shortcut to run from Func+Prt Scrn, but Filter Keys won’t start after holding the right Shift key for 8 seconds.
As alternates, I scanned LightShot from Microsoft and MWB quarantined it, and I’m not going to pay to try Fireshot.
One Note isn’t installed.
Thanks for any hints.

2024.05.19 02:27 Sir_Admiral_Chair The Honeymoon period has worn off, the meta of this place is complaining and complaining about complaining. But don't let it distract you from the fact this is a normal thing which happens when the honeymoon period wares off for any social product.
People will have opinions, people will be attached to things and be disappointed when there are changes, bit this game is the perfect instance of a live service, because everything is in flux, even the community. It's highly dynamic and if you take a step back for a moment to just appreciate this community being dynamic, then perhaps some people can look on this whole thing a bit more positively.
You know the saying, people criticise what they love. And sometimes people will be emotional and use rhetoric which others feel may go to far.
What people need to realise is that the reason why the Helldivers 2 community loves to complain after the controversy is because so many members of the community have been taught by this a lesson in collective power. Hence people believe that they can complain into making the game better and they will continue to do so.
If you want a case study in social science, this is a great great example to explore, and I bet some researchers have already have their eyes peeling over the Helldivers 2 controversy and the aftermath. I said this in the post I made here before on the last day before Sony conceded to the main demand but not the secondary demand.
People feel emboldened and the honeymoon has officially ended at the same time. The result this has on the community is the illusion is shattered by some of the worst of human instincts, but combated by some of the best.
Because of the secondary demand not being met, many in the community who believed it the more important issue (PSN access in the global south) are being forced to confront their own perceptions and seeing how these tendencies may run deeper than this game's community itself.
I would like to see more community social commentary posts like my own, and I would love to see more people understand the depth of this games social commentary itself. Feel free to insert accusations of me being a bug or robot sympathiser.
Cyberstan was literally minding it's own business, and it got taken over and the cyberstan people were forced to submit to the demands of Super Earth. This is a reference to the banana republics, unequal treaties, and colonialism. Meanwhile the bugs were peaceful until Super Earth took over their worlds and stwrted farming them for oil, I imagine this is more a commentary on the way the west has treated the middle east.
Now let me ask you this... What if you line up the PSN access map with the Human development index, and then line it up with the scramble for Africa map, and also the partition of the Ottoman Empire after WW1. You notice anything interesting? The reason PSN doesn't exist in these countries is an indirect result of what Super Earth did to Cyberstan. Well not exactly it was not Super Earth but the whole point is Cyberstan is a metaphor, so are the bugs.
We can all be annoyed at Sony, and that's totally okay, but the reason Sony doesn't provide PSN access in these countries is due to the historical and infrastructural legacy of colonialism and imperialism. The Automaton's are merely a reaction to the former, like the anti-apartied and anti-colonial movements. Super Earth sanitises it's role much like how the British, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, and Americans have in the past and do today to a lesser extent. If you don't believe that Super Earth's behaviour would be allowed to happen in our world you are already wrong. See Operation Legacy for instance, a program initiated by the British in order to preserve or secure their legacy as a "progressive" colonial power, this included the mass burning of documents which documented various crimes against humanity such as concentration camps, massacres, and well... It goes on.
It's not an easy subject to approach and the reality of the modern world is already highly confrontational to all of us, it's not pretty and the satire of Helldivers 2 potrays what it's like to live on the beneficiary side of the equation. Should you feel guilty for your role in history? Only if you directly participate in injustice, and that's why the propaganda of our societies does so very much to try and protect these direct contributors because these direct contributors are indeed keeping our global economy the way it is. But we are all involved, and ultimately the direct contributors are fooled into this as well. This is a global problem, and because of years of direct contributors we in the global north indirectly benefit from what happens in the global south. This doesn't mean we should guilt ourselves for this, because after all you are a citizen of this Super Earth, it's not your fault that you didn't know any better, your agency is also impaired by the fact that ethical consumerism is itself propaganda.
The question we should be asking ourselves, is what we should do with our agency with the agency we have to affect the outcomes of this. Ask not what Earth can do for you, ask what you can do for Earth. If you want to see a brighter future for our Earth, what will you do with your agency to help those less fortunate than you?
I am not going to tell you how, because thwre a thousands of beliefs and thousands of ways you can make the world a better place, you aren't needed in the Congo, you are needed in your community, in your environment, in your country. People in other countries have agency over their actions within the limitations of their circumstances, yoy cannot judge them for being unable to solve a problem which has persisted for centuries, neither should you. But the most important question to ask is... Are you doing your part?
Helldivers, you know that change comes from numbers, not from single actions, but without single actions there would be no masses.
For our own sanity in this increasingly confusing, alienating world with sharpening contradicting social forces... You can either choose to isolate yourself from it, or make the world a better place. I have tried to do this in my own life, and this gives me meaning and has helped me achieve self-actualisation. I ak proud of my effort, even if it's only a small part of a bigger whole.
Cleansing the world of the legacy of colonialism and imperialism... WILL make PSN available everywhere. Direct actions have indirect consequences.
I will show my personal bias in my final sentance but it holds true regardless of time.
Educate, Agitate, Organise. Be the change you wish to see, and you will inspire others to follow.

Hi! I am 21F, American, looking for men ~21-25. About me- I’m average height and slim- I am conventionally attractive. I prefer men on the taller side with a thin to athletic build. I have no tolerance for substance use/smoking/alcohol and looking for the same (social drinking is OK). I am an atheist and not looking for someone religious. I’m also not political. I am located on the East Coast but open to starting with a LDR with the right person.
I earned my degree early and have been working ever since. Seeking someone well-educated and driven in his career, and finances. I am heavily family oriented and value stability- marriage and kids, a good education, etc. and leaning more traditional in this regard. My family is everything to me!
I am looking for a man I can trust and is motivated to provide a good life for a family. I also value reliability, maturity, generosity, and kindness- to me, actions and consistency are key. Lastly, all the love languages are important to me but Acts of Service is my #1.
In my free time I like to bake, paint, try new restaurants, shop, and video game (looking for my forever player 2!). Generally lean more towards being a homebody for solo plans but enjoy going out with friends to eat, shop, salon, etc. I also love to travel and hope to see as much of the world as I can together with my loved ones. And of course when I’m in a relationship I want to spend as much time as I can with my s/o :)
I value my time and don’t want to waste anyone else’s, either- DM me if you’re interested.

2024.05.19 02:19 LeperColony Questions about British legal practices from an American attorney
Hi all,
Having seen a few British fictional TV shows concerned the legal practice over there, I was struck by how divergent the legal profession is over there compared to here in the U.S. (California, specifically, where I am licensed to practice law).
I have a few questions that are probably known by cultural osmosis to anyone in the UK, whether a legal professional or layperson, but that are surprisingly difficult to resolve through Google. So any help is appreciated, along with your indulgence!
Please note that I am familiar with the division of labor between Barristers and Solicitors.
- In the U.S., prosecuting attorneys are in almost all cases government employees. At the local level, most counties maintain a District Attorney's Office, whose fully employed lawyers are used to prosecute cases.
When watching shows like
Silks, I was struck by the absence of such an office, and it seemed prosecuting duties were left to private attorneys. But also, there seemed to be a more senior barrister among them who, though still operating in a private capacity, assigned (or at the very least encouraged) cases to the other lawyers in their shared space (which I have learned is called Chambers).
But at the same time, I learned through Google that there is such a thing as the Crown Advocate's office, and even rank gradations such as a Senior Crown Advocate.
To make things even more confusing for me, in
Bank of Dave, the attorneys prosecuting Dave seemed to come from an office somewhat like the District Attorney (unless I misunderstood).
Could someone clarify for me exactly how prosecuting barristers are selected in the U.K. system? And is there a government office somewhat analogous to the District Attorney I described above, or is it all privately contracted?
- Anyone who has seen American legal dramas are no doubt familiar with the concept of a "side bar." Is there such a practice in the U.K.? Similarly, in the U.S. we often resolve issues, especially pre-trial issues, in judges' chambers instead of formal open court. But I've never seen such a thing depicted in U.K. shows.
- In U.S. practice, during a trial, it is sometimes necessary to have evidentiary or legal questions answered outside the presence of the jury. Sometimes this can take place in chambers as I described above, but at other times it may be in open court but with the jury excused.
How would a similar situation be resolved in a U.K. court?
- For colonial legal administration (so in the past), was the law closely aligned with the U.K.? I have been researching a Hong Kong case, and at one stage of the case a new judge was supplied directly from England. That seems to imply a cohesive legal process between the two jurisdictions, or even indeed just a single jurisdiction between the two.
In the U.S., an attorney licensed in one state can't even necessarily serve as an attorney in another. To what degree are U.K. legal practitioners allowed to operate outside their original licensed location?
Thanks!

2024.05.19 02:14 RogerMiller90 UI navigation on iOS/iPadOS
Hello,
I'm a first time user of RetroArch using the app on iPhone/iPad, which just became available as the first „real" game emulator app within the EU on the official AppStore. I have been using OpenEmu on my MacBook before so far. So far, my ROMs run fine with the RetroArch app on iPhone/iPad, but man, the user interface seems to be one of the biggest messes l've ever seen.
After trying to configure it for a bit, I somehow got stuck in a state, where I now can't get back to pure touch navigation anymore and I have no idea what to do.
I can either navigate the menu only with a virtual joystick (which can be suppressed to only show the menu) or actual joystick (see first image) with no touch navigation enabled, or I can tap in the upper left corner and switch to a keyboard view (see second image), where touch navigation suddenly becomes available again, but then I can't get rid of this goddamn keyboard anymore.
Could anyone help me out here on how to get back into a state without this on-screen keyboard, where at the same time touch navigation by pressing with the finger on menu items is working again?
I also have no idea, what the „Direct Mouse Input", that can be selected in the upper left corner is actually doing, as switching it on or off doesn't seem to change anything, in case the solution might have to do with this feature.
Thank you so much for help.

2024.05.19 02:14 PropBet Offshore Sportsbooks for US Customers
Best Offshore Sportsbook for 2024
Offshore Sportsbooks: Competitive Odds, Diverse Markets, and Freedom to Wager
What Sets Offshore Sportsbooks Apart? The landscape of sports betting is rapidly evolving, with offshore sportsbooks emerging as a compelling alternative for wagerers. But what exactly are they, and how do they differ from their state-licensed counterparts?
Offshore sportsbooks operate under licenses issued by international regulators, often situated in countries like Costa Rica, Curacao, or Panama. These licenses empower them to cater to customers across numerous jurisdictions, including the US. In essence, this translates to a broader regulatory framework compared to state-by-state restrictions.
Safety and Security: Top Priorities for Offshore Sportsbooks Security is paramount for any online betting platform. Fortunately, reputable offshore sportsbooks prioritize this aspect. They undergo rigorous licensing procedures, compelling them to demonstrate fair play, robust security measures, and responsible customer protection protocols. This ensures a safe and secure environment for you to wager on your favorite sports.
Beyond the Basics: Unmatched Selection and Competitive Advantages The best offshore sportsbooks go beyond merely replicating the offerings of state-licensed operators. They often provide a wider array of betting options, competitive odds, and potentially more lucrative bonuses and promotions. This translates to a more dynamic and potentially rewarding betting experience.
So, Are Offshore Sportsbooks Right for You? The decision ultimately rests on your individual preferences and priorities. Offshore sportsbooks provide a compelling option for those seeking diverse betting markets, competitive odds, and the freedom to wager on their terms. However, it's crucial to choose well-established and reputable platforms that prioritize safety and fair play.
Why Bet at Offshore Sportsbooks
The allure of offshore sportsbooks is undeniable. But what exactly makes them so popular among bettors? Here's a breakdown of the key benefits that keep users coming back for more:
- Boosted Bankrolls: Bigger Bonuses & Regular Promos
Offshore sportsbooks are renowned for their generous bonuses and promotions. New user signup bonuses can reach into the thousands, especially when using cryptocurrency. Plus, there's a constant stream of ongoing promotions throughout the month, maximizing your betting potential.
- Fast and Secure Banking: The Power of Crypto
Cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals are a staple at offshore sportsbooks. Enjoy the ease of swift transactions with minimal processing times, and in some cases, even instant payouts.
- Wagering Freedom: Available in Most States & No Geolocation Hassles
Unlike state-licensed operators, offshore sportsbooks bypass geolocation restrictions. This means you can wager freely from most US states, without any limitations.
- Keeping Your Winnings: No Taxes Withheld
Federal regulations require licensed operators to report winnings exceeding a certain threshold and withhold taxes accordingly. Offshore sportsbooks, however, don't report winnings to the IRS, leaving you in control of your tax obligations.
- Enhanced Odds: Lower Costs, Better Returns
Offshore sportsbooks benefit from lower operational costs due to the absence of state taxes. These savings translate into more competitive odds for you, potentially increasing your returns.
Beyond the perks mentioned above, offshore sportsbooks often boast a wider selection of betting markets compared to their state-regulated counterparts. This allows you to place wagers on a broader range of events and explore new betting opportunities.
Offshore Sportsbook Bonuses: Bigger Bankrolls, Better Bets
Offshore sportsbooks have carved a niche in the betting landscape, and a major reason for their popularity lies in their enticing bonus structures. Unlike state-licensed operators, offshore sportsbooks offer a wider array of bonuses with significantly higher values. Let's delve into the treasure trove of bonuses that await you:
- Welcome Offers: A Kickstart for Your Betting Journey
Signing up at an offshore sportsbook unlocks a generous welcome bonus, typically a deposit match bonus. This bonus essentially matches a percentage of your initial deposit, potentially doubling your bankroll right from the start. Some welcome packages might even include free bets or bonus bets, further amplifying your betting power.
- Deposit Match Bonuses: Fueling Your Bets with Extra Cash
A staple in the world of offshore sportsbook bonuses, deposit match bonuses are straightforward and rewarding. The sportsbook matches your deposit by a predefined percentage, up to a specified maximum amount. For instance, a 100% deposit match bonus up to $500 would double your initial deposit, providing you with an extra $500 to wager on.
- No Deposit Bonuses: Free Money, Free Play
Considered the holy grail of sportsbook bonuses, no deposit bonuses are rare gems. These bonuses grant you free credit to use at the sportsbook, allowing you to place bets without risking your own funds. While the credit amount might be modest, it's a fantastic opportunity to try out the platform and potentially turn it into real winnings.
- Bonus Bets: Taking a Free Shot at Victory
Bonus bets, often part of welcome packages or bundled with deposit match bonuses, are essentially free wagers. Any winnings accrued from a bonus bet (minus the initial stake) are yours to keep. Imagine a $25 bonus bet that wins you $75; you'd pocket a cool $50 in profit!
- Ongoing Promotions: A Stream of Rewards for Loyal Bettors
The party doesn't stop at the welcome bonus. Offshore sportsbooks keep their customers engaged with a steady stream of ongoing promotions. These can encompass deposit bonuses, bonus bets, special event wagers, parlay offers, and the ever-popular odds boosts.
- Odds Boosts: Enhanced Profits for Savvy Bettors
Odds boosts elevate the potential payout on specific wagers, increasing your earning potential. These are typically offered for marquee events or specific bet types within an event or sport.
- Parlay Insurance: A Safety Net for Your Multi-Leg Wagers
A parlay bet combines multiple wagers (legs) into a single bet. Parlay insurance softens the blow of losing a parlay by just one leg. While you won't receive your full winnings, you might get your original stake or a portion of it back, mitigating your losses.
- Loyalty Bonuses: Reap the Rewards of Being a Regular
Engaging with a sportsbook's loyalty program unlocks exclusive bonuses not available to casual bettors. These bonuses can mirror any of the previously mentioned options or even extend to real-world rewards like tickets to sporting events.
By understanding and leveraging the diverse array of offshore sportsbook bonuses, you can significantly enhance your bankroll, explore new betting opportunities, and potentially maximize your profits. Remember to explore various sportsbooks and compare their bonus structures to find the one that best suits your betting preferences.
Offshore Sports Betting in the US: A Comprehensive Guide
The world of sports betting is rapidly evolving, and offshore sportsbooks have emerged as a compelling option for American bettors. But with so much information to navigate, it's crucial to understand the legalities, accessibility, and benefits of offshore wagering.
Is Offshore Sports Betting Legal in the US? The legality of offshore sports betting hinges on two key factors:
- PASPA Repeal: In 2018, the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) was repealed, giving individual states the authority to regulate sports gambling within their borders. Many states have since legalized and launched their own sports betting markets.
- Federal Laws: There are currently no federal laws prohibiting US citizens from wagering at offshore sportsbooks. These entities operate under licenses issued by international gaming authorities, allowing them to serve customers in the US.
The Mobile Advantage: Betting on the Go While you won't find dedicated apps for offshore sportsbooks, all our recommended operators offer seamless mobile betting through their websites. Simply visit the site on your smartphone or tablet, sign up, deposit funds, and start placing wagers. These mobile platforms are designed for optimal functionality and provide an experience comparable to dedicated apps.
Finding the Right Offshore Sportsbook With numerous offshore sportsbooks catering to US players, choosing the best fit requires careful consideration. Here are some factors to keep in mind:
- Reputation and Licensing: Look for established sportsbooks with licenses from reputable gaming jurisdictions like Curacao. These licenses ensure fair play, security measures, and responsible gambling practices.
- Betting Markets and Odds: Explore the variety of sports and events offered, along with the competitiveness of the odds. Top offshore sportsbooks boast a wide range of markets and attractive odds for bettors.
- Bonuses and Promotions: Take advantage of generous welcome bonuses, reload promotions, and ongoing loyalty programs to maximize your bankroll and potential returns.
Some of the highly-rated offshore sportsbooks for US players include BetOnline, Everygame, Bovada, BetWhale, and TG Casino. Popular alternatives encompass Jazz Sports,
SportsBetting.ag, BetUS, and BetNow.
Taxes and Reporting: - Offshore Sportsbooks: Offshore sportsbooks themselves do not report winnings to the IRS. However,
- US Taxpayers: It's your responsibility to report gambling winnings to the IRS and your state tax authorities. Consulting a tax professional is recommended to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Funding Your Bets: Payment Methods Offshore sportsbooks typically provide two main deposit and withdrawal options:
- Cryptocurrency: Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin offer fast, fee-free transactions (excluding minimal mining fees) and eliminate the need for third-party involvement.
- Traditional Methods: Credit/debit cards are convenient but may incur fees and are not always suitable for withdrawals. Bank wire transfers are another option, but often come with high processing fees.
Important Note: As of now, offshore sportsbooks do not accept PayPal or other popular eWallets (Neteller, Skrill) due to limitations imposed by these payment processors.
By understanding the legalities, mobile accessibility, key considerations for choosing a sportsbook, and payment methods, you can confidently navigate the world of offshore sports betting in the US. Remember to gamble responsibly and always prioritize licensed and reputable platforms.

I just got back from Home Depot fully expecting to buy some Packout drawer boxes to add to my existing Packout system. But after playing with all the Milwaukee's drawer variants, I ended up walking out with 4 new Ridgid boxes instead. This is a "varies by your use case" decision for sure, but --
Reasons I went with Ridgid Pro Gear 2.0: - Ridgid is lighter weight. Packout is definitely more heavy-duty and durable, but I don't need tank-level robustness and prefer less heft as a result.
- Ridgid wheels can completely disconnect from the bottom box -- can rearrange the stack; easier to load into tight quarters. Packout roller base is permanently attached (i.e. single-piece mold) to the large box.
- Packout drawers have the front-flipping bar for securing the drawers, which I find super obnoxious because then it's hanging in front or down when accessing the drawers. The Ridgid side-flip design seems much better to me.
- I like that the Ridgid styling is more subtle. Milwaukee/Packout is the most flamboyant of all the tool brands (besides maybe Ryobi). I don't need any more SCREAMING RED in my life.
- Even more unfortunate is that Milwaukee makes the Packout line in Black/Red (vs Red/Black), but that colorway isn't sold in the American market. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukeee-4932472130-PACKOUT-3-Drawer-Case/dp/B093X3X879
- I looked into Klein's new MODBox system a bit, but unfortunately inventory isn't widely available yet -- and same thing, I don't need SCREAMING ORANGE everywhere.
- Drawer quality is basically identical between the two. The slides look like they're probably made in the same factory and feel indistinguishable when sliding. Even more reason not to pay 50% more ($180 vs $120) for Packout drawers.
But Packout is clearly superior in other ways: - The flip-up handle on the Packout Large Box is stellar. None of the Ridgid boxes have anything like this.
- I love my Packout tool totes; Ridgid doesn't have anything similar. But it's extremely rare that I attach them to my boxes so nbd besides "theming" lol.
- Packout has a much better variety of organizers and other random accessories. I think there are 8 items total in the entire Ridgid system. Packout has...what maybe 30 SKUs?
- Packout tray inserts are unquestionably superior in both function and build quality. The little orange insert on the Ridgid boxes is too small, too flimsy, and not supported as well by the outer box. This is definitely the most painful con of the Ridgid system; they don't even sell trays as an add-on.
- The telescoping handle on the Ridgid isn't my favorite. My knuckles knock against the box hinges while walking; I will try to address this by changing my box stacking order.
- It's very easy to find foam inserts for Packout products. I will likely have to cut my own for the Ridgid.

2024.05.19 02:05 Nice-Professional-59 Is there any software or game worth buying?
Well, I recently activated my meta quest 2 and I have 30 dollars in my wallet, now I wonder what I should buy? honestly I do not plan to buy games very often because in my country the dollar is too expensive to buy games in 20, 30 or 40 dollars, so I want to spend these 30 $ in something worthwhile. for example I'm not going to buy beat saber because I know I can easily download its apk so it's not worth it, I've heard that Virtual desktop is worth a lot but I have airlink and steam link as an alternative so I'm not sure either. So what should I buy? is there any game that can't be cracked or any game that is really worth it for the online? if vr chat cost money i would definitely buy it, or should i just buy virtual desktop?

2024.05.19 02:04 highonstickbugs [TOMT] Childhood Memory
[TOMT] [ANIME MOVIE] [2000s] I need any help I can get with this. I have this vivid memory of my early, and even late, childhood, of me watching a DVD that contained the first ever anime I ever watched. On the very good days of piracy (long gone era of the early 2000), my dad downloaded it from somewhere that has been long lost to time. I still have the DVD somewhere on my parents house, but no more DVD player, and the DVD is one of those plain ones we used to record stuff, so theres no indication of the film name on it. I completely forgot the title, that is if I ever knew it at all (it was in japanese, and if I still don't know japanese now, in my almost 20 years, I very much didn't know it when i was 4), but I just NEED to know the name, just to find it again, get a glimpse, even just a screenshot, of one of my earliest memories. And also it was my first anime ever, and that's a pretty big thing to an anime lover.
Now that i gave context of why I just need this so much (I remembered it today, and I've been looking for it for the past 2 hours, my girlfriend is probably already a bit pissed that i hyperfocused on this instead of giving her attention), I'll give you guys all the things I remember, in hopes I can find it again, or even have tell me they also remember it just so I know I'm not going crazy.
It was probably made in between 1990 and 2005, and i vividly remember a scene where the main character, a boy about 6-8 years old, is playing with penguins in antartica (he was there with his parents, and the start of the film was in a boat, so i always guessed they were kind of scientists going on an expedition?) when the ice starts to crack. He doesn't manage to get back to his parents and they get separated, and he ends up on top of an iceberg, stranded in the ocean. He floats over it across the sea until he reaches warmer waters, where he encounters a paradise bird he freed earlier in the film (the poor thing was locked up in a cage in the boat, i guess he belongued to the captain or something), and the warms makes the ice start to melt and reveals a giant egg. the boy floats over the egg until he gets stranded on a tropical paradisiacal island governed by a mermaid (i guess she had pink hair and a really sad face for some reason?) and inhabited by strange creatures. even the trees and flowers in the forest seem to be concient and they even sing (my mother was absolutely tired of hearing this scene over and over again). The egg cracks when they reach the beach and a pink sea monster is born from it, and the creature becomes the boy's friend, along with the paradise bird that becomes a sort of guide/voice of reason (though not much reason I'm afraid). There's also a profecy referring to the pink sea monster (?) and a pirate is trying to capture it (or maybe the mermaid princess, i dont remember). There's also one scene where some strange little creatures that live on the island are crying so much they almost flood it (?) i dont remember much about it, sorry.
