Post random strings of letters, copypasta from around the internet, write as if it's your diary. However you choose to approach this experiment will be the correct way. For a greater understanding of the purpose of this subreddit you can read The library of babel by J. L. Borges. In essence, this is a futile attempt to recreate the Library in its infinity. A place where all text is possible. Spelling errors welcome. Crossposts encouraged.

.
Andy watched the streets from his apartment window with bright eyes; The music was alive.
Brass instruments trumpeted into the night sky; people bustled every which way and singers sang the rhythmic tunes of the blues on every corner. The honey notes of jazz rose and fell and seemed to hang on the breeze, making each breath intoxicating. It was like the music itself entered into the bodies of each person in the crowd and began forcing its way out in strange, swinging movements until it took shape. Then, it flowed through their limbs as smoothly as running water.
Alex began to nod his head a little. It was as if the sound itself was a living thing and had crawled into him as well; the bass drums thud, thud, thudding against his ears and his heart rate slowing to match the pace.
Performers walked up and down the sidewalks, some on unicycles or stilts, others breathing fire and juggling thin silver hoops, and everyone was dancing. It looked like the damn Mardi Gras.
Andy looked down and realized he’d been slowly tapping his leg as well. Then his body became restless. He had to get up and move, and the movements came out jerky and spazzy at first, but quickly gained fluidity. He danced alone in his apartment, swinging his arms and twirling circles over the floor. He danced all the way to the door, but just as he grabbed the handle he stopped.
The television blinked white and an alarm began barking a hateful and continuous “BZZRT” noise.
For a moment it broke the spell, and he had stopped moving. He watched the TV as the letters C.D.C. dawned over the screen. An automated voice began to speak in a deep and monotonous tone, “A state of emergency has been declared over the states that follow: Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Georgia. There is a deadly virus that has become airborne; the most prominent symptoms are vivid audio hallucinations, and uncontrollable restlessness. We ask all of you to stay indoors while authorities handle the situation.”
Andy stood motionless as the words disappeared, and the alarm whirred back up into its “BZZRT” noises. He thought of the people in the streets, of the jazz and the rhythmic tunes that had hypnotized him just moments ago, and—
“BZZRT”
Andy looked back at the TV. The alarm continued to sound and it interrupted each of his thoughts. It came in intervals. There were three seconds between each buzz and it sounded over and over and after a few moments it became all he could think about.
“BZZRT…BZZRT…BZZRT”
Andy began to slowly tap his foot in rhythm with the alarm, and its noises began to fade into the sweet sounds that spilled in through the window until they had mingled as one, and that tune that was in Andy’s right leg spread through the rest of his body like a hot fever.
He grabbed the handle of his door and ran to the streets below.
Outside, it was ecstasy. Andy moved like he had never moved before. The lights were incredible, casting yellow glows over everything and shimmering off of bead necklaces and fancy jewelry. Exotic perfumes hung thick in the air along with the sweet smell of sweat, and body odor.
He danced with strangers, spinning and holding random people without a second thought to it. His mind was enveloped in a cloud of golden melody, and his body a bird, soaring through it as high and free as one could possibly be. He wasn’t Andy anymore, in fact, he couldn’t remember his name at all. He was one with the music, and to him, that was okay.
.
A few hours later, Andy was still jiving to the music, only a little more slowly. A few people had dropped from exhaustion, and their faces were stomped bloody by those who still had enough energy to continue.
A wall of armed men wearing hazmat suits approached from the south end of the street, and gunshots began to cut through the night. The snaps of their rifles sounded like someone playing the spoons, so Andy took it as that and danced to its tune as well. He danced all the way up until the moment that the firing squad put a bullet through his hard.
The hot pain of the bullet hole wasn’t surprising, nor was the fact the man shot him in the chest. For some reason, that made perfect sense in Andy’s mind. The only thing that really surprised him in that moment was the fact that he couldn’t move his arms anymore, and soon after he couldn’t move his legs. He sprawled backwards over the asphalt and his vision faded into blackness as he slipped into a honey sea of melodies, never again to be interrupted.

2024.06.02 05:38 RealZiobbe I graduated yesterday and near-strangers are more supportive than my parents

Yesterday, I had my graduation ceremony. After years of university with absolutely no help besides occasional rides to the bus stop and, very rarely, to campus, I finally graduated. Here's what my parents have done in the lead-up to graduation and the day after instead of supporting me.
My parents spent months leading up to the graduation freaking out about how I'll get a job, trying to control my hair and clothing (even implying I'm ugly when I choose my own hair and clothing), harassing me to hand out business cards to everyone I meet (especially if the situation would be an immense faux pas), grilling me on if my grades are good, lecturing me relentlessly about how I need to keep in contact with people in my class and it's soooo important and would I like to hear about how my dad got a job through nepotism for the eightieth time, asking me questions they already know the answers to (Yes, I'm still talking to my former classmates. Yes, I know that you worked in the Yukon when you were 18. Yes, I know about your friend who worked in a weather station. Yes, I know you had to move to find a job in the 1980s. Yes, I am aware that it is a possibility I might have to move too. Yes, I know that it's okay to invite people over to the house, you've only "informed" me about a hundred times. Yes, I know that school is important.) Every single thing that they "inform" me about is something I have very clearly expressed that I understand, and is just thinly veiled criticism. But my dad needs to lecture more than he needs oxygen.
Just constant nitpicking, criticism, and nothing I ever did was enough. I couldn't even focus on grades, because they would in their own words "put pressure on" me to do what they wanted. To handle their emotions for them. They're obsessed with the idea that I would have to move to a tiny town or work in a coal mine to find a job, because I'm more highly educated than my dad (who dropped out of university despite having all expenses paid by his father), and because my dad worked in the Yukon for two summers. He will never shut up about that, and he even goes so far as to hold us hostage with implicit threat of a massive tantrum to listen to him tell us the story again and again and again and to show us pictures of the place he worked on Google maps and point to everything he remembers. Sometimes he can go on for half an hour just repeating himself over and over.
Last summer, my parents even went and took action without my knowledge or approval to try and get a job set up for me cleaning up a mine contaminated with arsenic in the middle of nowhere, NWT. They tried to guilt and shame me into it ("What are your plans instead? Do you have another job lined up? Because you need to have a job. You can't sit around all day." This coming almost literally one week into summer vacation after my second-last year of university, when I could be using my energy to find interesting co-ops or explore hobbies or travel, instead dealing with their harassment and obsession with trying to literally trap me in a fucking arsenic mine.) They went on and on, lectured me over and over, implied that I would be embarrassing my grandfather if I didn't go, and so on. Eventually they said "You can go work or get a certification", and I picked the certification, but then they got grumpy anyways, and every week for the entire summer they would ask "Are you still working on the certification?". Of course, dipsh*t. I've told you fifty times how long the program lasts.
They don't care about what I'm learning in class, don't care about my hobbies or interests, only care about my friends as either a means to get backdoored into a job or a "nice French Canadian woman" to have babies with. They don't care if I'm struggling, and are completely unavailable to help in any regard. Any request for help would result in a guilt trip. Even if I actually couldn't eat dinner with the family for one day because I had a test, my father would get raw emotions and I'd have to walk on eggshells for a few days. The one time I mentioned I was having trouble studying, instead of shutting up and no longer ranting in the main floor where I could hear him or turning the TV off, he just dragged a table into the unfurnished boiler room (without asking me) and then told me that I would have to study there. I wasn't allowed to choose not to, because he'd already set it up. Ironically, my anger at him did let me study pretty well for the one day that I was forced there. He tried to keep me there long-term because he thought it was just such a great idea, but I managed to trick him into thinking I didn't need help studying anymore, so I got to study at a desk with a light on it and flooring that wasn't bare cement. Hooray for the most minor victory imaginable.
In the months leading up to graduation, did they care about how hard I was working at my capstone project and offer support? Absolutely not! Did they care about how well my sleep quality was, how many times the cat woke me up because they didn't play with her enough or give her enough attention? Nope! Did they care about how exhausting it was to deal with their constant lectures on the same topics, and to have to give them affirmations ("Yes, you're right, that's right, good job, nice, very tasty, good work, oh really?, neat, that's cool, how'd you make that?, mhm, I agree, you're being reasonable, they're being ridiculous, that's crazy") a hundred times a day? Not even in the slightest!
We spend more time talking about my dad's college friends than about anything I or my brother care about.
Then, leading up to graduation. all I've gotten are the most humiliating, infuriating, insulting messages and lectures from my parents. I get almost daily emails and texts saying "You need to get a job, it's important to look for a job" despite the fact I've told them I am looking probably fifty times. Too cowardly to say it to my face. I've been texted literal links to a Google search for "[degree name] jobs [city]" more than once. Both my parents treat me like I don't listen, when I do. They treat me like I'm lazy, when I've put myself through university with no help even after they lied to me about giving me financial aid and made me out to be a bully demanding more money when all I did was say "alright" and then pay for it myself. They must have sternly given me a talking to about how "I'm not going to pay for university, you know that, right? You need to pay. Don't expect us to pay. Because we paid for your first semesters, you know that, right? We've already paid for enough." thirty times, even after I'd made the final payment. They treat me like I'm stupid when I have expressed understanding before. They treat me like I'm a bully while I always bend over backwards for them, just because I don't play my role as "surrogate mommy but this time I get to tell her what to do" well enough.
It feels like they're almost raising me into a replacement or surrogate parent. Like my dad wants me to be his mom or dad, except this time he gets to be in charge. And my mom wants me to be her mom, except this time when she freaks out or has her deer in headlights look, she'll get someone to step up and take care of everything for her. I distinctly remember having to comfort her even for things she did to me, like tell me that a pair of comfortable shoes I picked out was good and she'd get them, and then immediately scream "take it out, take it out!" after it was scanned at the register. I could not have been older than twelve. And for my dad, he always rants and raves to me exactly like he does to his parents, except without including blame for them sending him to boarding school and instead having tons of old "life updates" like where he worked when he was 18 and what music he liked to listen to in high school, stuff like that. Then he expects me to praise him or be interested like his parents never were (he always tells me that his parents only cared about his car when they called).
So now I graduated. All they had to say in the days coming up to it was to grill me on the time I'd have to be at the venue and the time I was planning to leave the house to get there on time, with a distinct air of "you're too lazy to think of this in advance and too stupid to figure it out without a plan". Of course, I had to answer this question probably five times, because they don't care to ever listen to me. Before the ceremony I got text messages showing they were way more excited about themselves being here than anything relating to me, with multiple messages expressing how they arrived and it was exciting, then they asked me how the atmosphere was and their only reply was a one-word "nice" with no punctuation, because they don't care about me and only ask droll questions to segue into their next bit.
After grad, there was two generic sentences spoken with no emotion about how it was nice I graduated, and then they made a whole song and dance about the amazing gifts they got me. It was a degree frame I picked out myself that my dad presented as new and exciting (because he never pays attention to me, of course, when I told him I had picked one out and ordered it with my mother. Also she had another freakout about price and acted like I was holding her hostage by taking her unforced offer to buy me the second-cheapest degree frame on offer.). Then he presented the free gift small frame they got with it as though I should praise him for it, then a congratulation card that was alright I suppose if only because my brother drew a little creature in it that made me smile (my parents did not add anything special or meaningful to it). There was also a cap, which I genuinely enjoy and is nice, and a cheap ballpoint pen for some reason. He said there was more gifts at home, which okay, I don't care about gifts but I'd like him to at least be as excited for my graduation as he was for the picture frame. I didn't get any souvenirs from the bookstore because I knew if I got something he'd also gotten he'd freak out and accuse me of not listening to him or whatever, so I waited. When I got home my gift was Skittles. I don't know why I thought me might have gone to the bookstore and gotten me something special related to my actual interests. He doesn't care to know what those are anyways. I guess I hoped that at least this one day would be different.
Today, the day after graduation, all I've gotten from my parents is:
- Involved in a lecture and manufactured drama about my brother not using my car to drive to his job, even though my dad had the exact opposite position the entire rest of the year, because "what if you need to drive somewhere?", trying to manufacture a fight between my brother and me while also guilting and shaming me for not driving as a hobby like he does.
- A text message from my mother asking me if I'm awake because she wants more ammo to paint me as lazy. Nevermind that I barely slept the night before to make it to grad (of course neither of my parents would care enough about me to come with me as a family. I was literally the only person I saw who went on my own and without their family showing up early too, to support them. I walked past so many families in the parking lot knowing my mother couldn't be bothered to change out of her pajamas for me.) Nevermind I had a huge day that day, and that I was taking care of the cat's energy all that night too because attending my grad is apparently soooo draining my parents can't look after their own pet, and somehow it falls to me. All that matters is she woke up early and I didn't (after I handled all her inconveniences for her, funny how that works).
- Rapid knocks on my door because my dad is making bread as a hobby and apparently "needs" me there to help him with it, and then also "needed" me to stay and make cookies with him.
- A lecture about someone I never knew who apparently once threw something at another kid on my street when I was about 5, and about how he died and how his wife's hobby was really expensive or whatever and if I really don't remember him?
- I went to a showhome for fun and brought back the brochure. My dad jabbed his finger at the pictures on it to explain the house to me like I wasn't the one who literally brought the brochure back. Never asked if I cared or anything, just immediate launch into lecture and expecting me to stay and listen and praise him for being so smart or whatever.
- A lecture about D Day for some fucking reason. My dad is obsessed with history, and he doesn't have any friends to talk to (wonder why) so his lectures always fall on my ears.
- An email from my mother explaining in an extremely condescending way how important it is to have a cover letter when applying for jobs (just completely assuming I don't write them and also am too lazy or stupid to think about having them) including copy-pasted text from a sample cover letter that is no doubt one of the first results on google for "cover letter example"
- An angry email from my mother including a job she found on google
But, contrast that to my neighbors across the street. I was friends them in grade school, haven't seen them in like ten years, and just on my way past to the showhome we said hi and chatted in a genuinely nice conversation that wasn't a one-sided lecture like usual in my house. They could sense my emotions and didn't try to keep me there longer than I wanted to rant, they were genuinely interested in me and gave me space and interest to express myself, their mother even hugged me for graduating and it was the most genuine hug and congratulations I've ever received in person. Every other hug was my family members forcing me to hug them for their own sole benefit. I admit I cried a bit later on my walk thinking about it.
Compared to my parents, the parents of old friends care more about me, trust me more, believe in me more, have more hope for my future, are more interested in me, and understand me better. It's tremendously sad that all throughout my graduation ceremony I was worried about my parents becoming upset for some random reason and blowing up at me. I'm glad I at least focused and made myself feel some pride and joy in myself for graduating.
Even the random people I met who were also taking part in the open house were nicer and better conversationalists than my parents. A random elderly couple I have never seen in my life can have a better interaction with me than my own parents. The realtor was more chill and less perfectionistic than my parents by a mile. His million-dollar house sale was something he was less stressed and perfectionistic about and something he beat himself up over less than my parents are about my hairstyle when I'm going to class because "What if you meet someone in industry and they see you're not professional".
It's absurd.

2024.06.02 04:47 Muninn_Crow Functional Holy Books

From the log of Edward Price – Clerk for Diplomat Howard Weathers – 03.28.2803
I suppose a summary is in order for things to be clear. Humanity has a bit of a reputation as an odd lot in the galaxy. Most aliens don’t know really know what to think about us. You see, most aliens are actually somewhat boring, having fallen into galactic societal niches over thousands of years. The Atroxians are were space pirates, the Vontacruz own the casinos and travel cruise industries, and the Hordun operate the most efficient morgues this side of the galaxy – usually because of the Atroxians. But the Delridians? They are diplomats. And dare I say that they are the weird ones.
Delri Prima is the homeworld of the Delridians, a tall, lanky race who look like the grimdark cousins of a Star Wars Kaminoan. Brilliant medics, they apparently don’t see a difference between medical work and diplomacy, seeing both fields as the healing arts. Their medicocracy has a long list of accomplishments throughout the galaxy, enough that it’d look like an 18-hour credit reel on a movie. My guess is that they may have been the “Humans” of the galaxy preceding us before they finally settled, and rumors have it that the K’kituun Death Puppets are an ancient offshoot from their early days on the galactic stage.
But more to the point, after about 180 years on the galactic stage, Humanity has made a decent name for ourselves as the handyman and eccentric nerd. We are celebrated, thrown strange looks, worried glances, and altogether treated as small children. Though with the destruction of Axtroxia, they may want to worry about what will happen when we hit puberty. The Delridians have already been through that, though they were never as eccentric as we are.
They reached out to Humanity with a diplomatic frigate appropriately named Olive Branch about a year ago. I’ve learned they like to reflect the cultures they are talking to, so as to ease negotiations. Can’t imagine what the Atroxian equivalent was. Probably something like ‘Torn Heads’. Regardless, Diplomat Weathers was finally selected as the Earth delegate to talk on Delri Prima, and oh boy. That is a dark world. Like, bring a flashlight dark. I don’t know whether it is the slow spin of the planet, or the climate generators they have, but the entire twilight band is just dark and grey. It rains, and thankfully it is safe water, but it is eerie. From the embassy city they built to make us more comfortable, you can look out across the Delridian jungle and see the many other diplomatic cities slowly being devoured by the vines and trees.
The first night was fine, though I’m not sure any of us slept well. We were each provided a separate room or, well, house really. The entire city was made of a cold stone, themed after some old Italian city on Earth. The wind slipped through the narrow streets with a soft whistle, bringing with it a faint jungle fog. Somewhere down the street was a clattering window shutter, but with how much stone they used, and the strange alignment of the streets, you could hear a pin drop from eight blocks away!
Talks went well for the first three days as Diplomat Weathers and the Delridians got to know each other. I met with and discussed a number of cultural similarities with a member of the alien entourage, a Nurse Kelayo, when I wasn’t with the others in my group exploring the city. She was very proud of the settlement they built for us, but in our talks, she asked what we thought of the book. What book?
Well, after having a wonderful meal with my coworkers and some of the alien entourage, we said our farewells and parted ways. Kelayo was vague, but had explained how they had acquired a copy of the book, and that she hoped that we enjoyed the effort she put into it.

I didn’t look into it immediately when I returned to the lonely, lifeless house that was my quarters. Mark was my closest neighbor, and he was a block down. The Delridians, fresh from talks with the Hordun, thought we may want some privacy from each other. And while it is nice not having to hear Mark snore in the cabin like on the flight here, the house was a little… too private.
It was as I was preparing to turn off the light to go to sleep that I thought to look in the nightstand beside me. Kelayo had told us about the book, and when I opened the top drawer, it was indeed there. Sitting center and alone was an old Earth book of gnarled leather and no visible title. Whatever poor creature the Delridians had used to make the cover had terrible skin!
Opening the book, I found it to have been printed in an old dialect of English from before the Third World War, with some much older words I did not recognize. It certainly looked like it was printed in the archaic methods of old Earth, with wet ink instead of modern digital ink that provided touch-based pseudo-memoric context.
I began to flip through the pages of this strange book, turning up the brightness on the nightstand lamp to see better. The faded pages of the book looked sick and moldy, and my skin crawled just touching it, but the letters, despite the stains and grunge, seemed to pop from the page in crisp black. In fact, the ink was so black that it felt like I was staring into the void with each letter. Kelayo’s book was some archaic text of old Earth culture from the end of the 20th century, though I did not recognize the name. Written by a Bishop Simon from some archaic cult or religion, the book functioned as a “spellbook” like a deepdive virtual reality fantasy game might have. It was filled with a plethora of gods I did not recognize, and a ton of phonetic gibberish that sounded good when said, but easily complicated.
I hadn’t gotten too far when I heard a man’s scream next to me. Jumping out of my skin, I found no one there. But I remembered where I was, and crept to the window. It was Mark’s voice, more panicky than I had ever heard him. Peeking through the slats of the window, I scanned the street towards Mark’s place. The light was on, and someone was shuffling down the street, murmuring in pain.
Rushing down to the street, I rushed out to help him. Mark’s mutterings were too quiet, and he was holding something to his chest. It may have been a minute before I collected myself and tried to get answers from him, but you have to understand, I’ve never seen a dying man before. Not in real life. In the dim and permanent gloom, I could barely make out the trail of blood behind him. He pleaded again and again, and I had to find out where he was injured, and what it was he was carrying.
I went to take what he held, only to realized that in my own fervor to aid him I still had that creepy book. I put that down to wrench free Mark’s own possession. I really wish I hadn’t, for his grip was weak, with only one hand. I held his other, and everything above it.
My own voice was the next I heard echoing down the street as I most certainly fell backwards. Sorry Mark, but I lost your arm. Well, your first one. The second is decorating some chandelier somewhere, courtesy of Vanessa.
Please understand that for anyone in my situation, gorey horror was never my fancy, and I hope no one in the auditing board holds it against me. I would bet credits that any of you would have done much the same as I did.
Time is… unreliable on Delri Prima, with its twilit band and gloom. The only thing that moves is that blasted fog. And the vines. Especially the vines. I’m not sure how long I ran, but Vanessa was the one to find me, flanked by a street littered with Human bodies. Far more people than joined us on the crew… I think. You might want to review the ship manifest just to be sure.
Vanessa, once she verified my identity, guided me through the littered street, still gurgling and reaching out to us. Give her a raise, by the way. She’s the one that got us out of there. We met up with Dwayne and Harry, both armed with metal pipes and whatever other junk they salvaged, and we retreated to a boarded up house with other surviving members of the crew. They were glad to see me, though I don’t remember who they were. Many were new faces to the ship for this mission.
We settled here for hours? A day? Our comms were filled with static, and we couldn’t reach Mr. Weathers to see if he was ok. We needed to get off this planet. Someone mentioned that the ship was still parked at the landing bay. All eyes turned to someone in the back of the group, who slowly stood up, her form long and lanky. Kelayo, the Delridian nurse.
Vanessa worked with Kelayo on a plan to move through the city to the landing bay, while the rest of us sought supplies. This house had a basement, connected to a series of tunnels which we would use to slip under whatever muttering, mumbling horrors pleaded us to come outside.
Slowly, and as quietly as we could, our train of survivors crept through the tunnels. Our flashlights that Ben had found were pathetically dim, and frequently flickered out, sounding with a loud clunk whenever someone whacked it awake. Icy water dripped from the long tangled hairs of wriggling moss that clung to and between the bricks, the lights illuminating white lice-like that lived within the tangle.
Splashing was the only sound we heard for a long time, along with someone’s horrid cough. He was in the back of the line, far behind me, but kept coughing and groaning. Others frequently shushed him, louder than he coughed. But for all the good their efforts to keep him quiet were, it paled in comparison to Kelayo’s odd excitement. When I inquired her about her unusual positivity, she admitted fascination over the many accounts of average Humans combatting the supernatural evils that threatened Earth. How we could survive on a planet infested with the dead with only equally dark magicks astounded her, despite our culture not having widespread knowledge or application of this means of survival. It was faint, but she had nodded at the book. Why did I still have this disgusting leatherback that seemed to shiver in the cold?
I apologize for any impact I may have had on diplomatic relations with the Delridians, but I said some uncouth remarks about the whole situation and the book. I flipped it open to a random page to give an example, forgetting in my annoyance just how dark it was in the tunnels. But that ink… that horrid archaic stain… was fully legible. I admit I came to a stop in awe, though shortlived as the train of people behind me bumped into me. That coughing was gone.
So were half the people we had been travelling with. Kelayo glanced around with a chitter. She was having too much fun with the spooky, and now we heard skittering and scrape scrape scraping on the bricks. Vanessa fired a shot down the tunnel and urged us to run, so we did.
We were near the landing bay when we ducked into a sideroom per Kelayo’s prompting, and shoved a convenient table in the way of the door. The skittering was above us on the ground floor too, and then someone grabbed my foot. It may have been Mark. Well, the part of Mark I dropped.
Long gnarled fingers covered in dirt were the hallmark of these freaky things. Human hands with a life of their own, skittering around like bugs as they fled the flashlight’s beam and sought dark corners. These shelters included their unholy wriggling up our pants and jackets, some grips strong and muscular, and others gentle and cautious. If you have ever had a massage, you may never want one again once a chilly, slimy, dismembered hand tries to nest between your shoulder blades.
Vanessa fired off a few shots in her desperate attempt to keep the grabby hands off, though she nicked Ben’s ear in the process. The loud noise scattered the skitterhands enough for us to fling the last few from our persons. Vanessa slammed the book I still carried, ordering me to read it. She had lost her copy early on, but had the gist of its contents.
The ink on the book was darkest on one particular page, with a weird symbol that looked like it said XOOD. An old-Earth linguist may understand it better than I. Kelayo was forced to provide guidance, as she was the expert on the book, and with many, many attempts, and a dark horde gathering upstairs, were ready to begin. Vanessa was out of shots in her gun, and Ben and Dwayne were futiley pushing back the horde of impossible crewmen. These people smelled horribly of rotten meat, and overtook Ben first, followed swiftly by Dwayne.
Vanessa had backed into a corner, clearly scared. I can’t blame her, since I was, too. But I couldn’t move, couldn’t join her in the false safety of the corner. The rotten crew… this dead crew, was in the room with us, and were already grabbing me. Amidst the noise and confusion, I could hear Vanessa being attacked behind me, and the dull nails of my own assailants tearing at my skin. Kelayo, her form thin and dark, simply stood amidst the dead.
Read it, she said.
Say it with all your heart.
I remember the word that pierced the world that day, but can’t remember saying it. But my throat burns whenever I utter it now. BARASHAKUSHU. The dead froze in place, their fingers dug deep into my skin. BARASHAKUSHU. Limp, lifeless, just as they should be. BARASHAKUSHU. The haze in the air, even in the basement, lifted. BARASHAKUSHU. Vanessa breathed deep as I pulled her from the bodies and out the house to the crowded, lifeless street.
We limped, though we did not bleed, filled with holes and grime, and caked in blood. Kelayo followed wraithlike behind us, always ten paces behind. The landing bay was before us. Our ship and salvation was before us.
Diplomat Weathers was fine, though alarmed at our state. Delridian doctors tended to us as we explained what happened. A full transcript is available via the ship’s DIA-Log.
When all was said and done, the Delridian diplomat thanked us for being so willing to open discourse. To celebrate successful talks between our species, he offered us a parting feast. He motioned Kaleyo over, who had apparently been tasked with researching Human culture for the talks.
She explained over dinner about how she had poured over a stunning variety of Human dishes from our many cultures, but that she had settled on one that appeared to be a universal favorite. An Italian dish of long, stringy noodles over their equivalent of a white cream sauce. And dinner was fantastic! But Kaleyo seemed confused as well, stating that she had a difficult time picking out the right recipe. The instructions were apparently all over the place with a lot of strange steps that seemed superfluous to food preparation.
I asked her what she meant, to which she replied, “The base ingredients were simple, almost mundane. Of note, the various rituals in the preparation exhausted many of our best doctors. Some are still seeking treatment after one batch escaped. You Humans have a very strange culture of food, especially with the names. I believe you called this one… creepy pasta?”
Then the meatball on my fork blinked at me.

2024.06.01 21:21 ErdrickLoto A list of every Best of the Worst, re:View, and Len Kabasinski movie available free to watch on Tubi

Newly updated with recent arrivals including The Deadliest Prey, Hands of Steel, RepliGATOR, Near Dark, Skate or Die Scary or Die, Predator, and the Milwaukee Culkin-endorsed The Last Dragon.
A few notes, to clarify things that confused people on prior occasions: All movies from Best of the Worst and re:View are listed alongside the episode that they were covered in on RedLetterMedia's YouTube channel. If the movie is on Tubi, it's linked; if the movie is not on Tubi, it's not linked and the name is just there as a placeholder. Sometimes that link will take you to a page that says "Content unavailable," which means that Tubi's rights to the movie have lapsed; however, they cycle through those fairly often and they'll probably get those rights again in the future, so check back down the line.

The Flash #96 - Close Encounters of the Cold Kind

<< < > Coming July 1st
Author: brooky12
Book: Flash
Arc: ?
Set: 96

Abra and Lisa walked through the door, already glancing at corners and posters on the wall, noting down the potential spots for hidden cameras. Abra was wearing a slick suit and tie, as if he had just walked out the door from some generic office C-suite job. Lisa was in a much more suble outfit, a casual dress and wool pullover, large purse that seemed inconspicuous if you didn’t know a pair of ice skates were hiding in it.

“You go on, I’m just going to sit down,” Lisa sighed, waving Abra forward as she moved towards a nearby couch. None of the people in line for the bank teller minded the two, other than the younger woman at the end of the line who seemed motivated to pay attention to anything but the fact that she was going to be standing for the next ten or twenty minutes.

Abra nodded, walking confidently up to one of the bank’s side rooms. The man inside looked up confused for a moment, hiding a grimace with a large smile. “Welcome to Milwa Key Bank, come on in!”

All it took was a suit and tie for the average service employee to bend over backwards to try and accommodate you, Abra thought. His average performance outfit received scorn and disgust outside of the context of his shows, but when he looked rich, all of the sudden he didn’t even need an appointment.

“Hello! My wife and I recently moved here, and we’d like to begin the process of rehoming our assets. Figured we’d start at least with a simple account or three to keep things centralized here in Milwa Key and give us access to, you know, the financial support staff here to get our bigger stuff moved over.”

Was this how rich people talked? He wasn’t sure.

“Well certainly, we’re happy to have you here. What is your name? You need multiple accounts, for you and your wife?”

Abra smiled. “Well, my name is Ibrim Nassau, and my wife’s name is Carol Bennd. We’d like to open personal accounts for each of us, as well as a shared account for our personal corporation that we handle shared expenses through, C.B.I.N. Inc.”

“Certainly. Unfortunately, I can’t help you with the shared account if you wish it to be connected to a company—that would require an appointment with a corporate representative who isn’t in today. I also can’t open an account for your wife without her here to consent and sign the paperwork.”

Abra nodded, turning back to the open door. “Carol, they’ll need you for when they make your account.”

Lisa looked up, halfway finished putting on her second ice skate. “Just do yours first, I’m in the middle of something here!”

Abra turned back to the employee. “Mine first, she’ll be in shortly. Women,” he joked, watching an air of unease settle on the employee between his comment and watching Lisa putting on ice skates. He didn’t go for any sort of alarm system yet, though.

“Understood. Do you have a local ID to Milwaukee County yet, or are you still out-of-county or out-of-state?”

“Actually, if you’d believe it, funnily enough, I’m, out of time!”

The joke barely landed as the bank employee stood up in horror, staring out the door as he watched Lisa icing off the entry to the bank. Before he could even shout anything or react, Abra blew across his open palm in the man’s direction, watching him grow drowsy then fall to the floor asleep in a matter of seconds.

The alarms went off, but that was fine. The quiet part was over and pretending to be upright citizens was tiring, anyways.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

“Iced over bank in Milwaukee,” Barry sighed, placing down his phone and looking up to Jay.

Jay, for his part, didn’t seem quite as exhausted. “Cap. Cold?”

“I sent a message to the prison, they’ll get back to me, but you’d think they’d give us a heads up if he went missing already. Bit of travel to get to Wisconsin if he broke out today.”

Jay stood up, switching into his outfit. “His stuff was always tech, possible someone figured out his nonsense and recreated it?”

Barry joined him, and the two ran out the door. “Let us know if the prison gets back to us, please,” Jay called over the communication device, and a confirmation from Nora Allen was their final comment from the compound before they arrived on the scene.

For a late May afternoon, with the temperature somewhere in the 90s, the vision of a fully frozen over bank building was almost an appealing sight. The local officer, on their arrival, jogged over.

“Good to see you, Flashes! Alarms started going off about an hour ago, but due to a technical hiccup in our system we didn’t find out until about a half hour ago. We sent in our report on arrival. All entrances are iced over, we’ve got a hostage negotiator on their way but we don’t know how many folks are trapped inside.”

“Do you know who might’ve done this?”

“Nope. No ice metahuman records in the region.”

“Gotcha, thank you. You mind if we try to do something, or would you like us to wait to see what happens?”

“By all means, Flash, y’all are the experts here. Policy is to let proven folks like you ahead, even after whatever happened during the winter. But I’m sure you don’t wanna hear policy ramblings.”

Barry took a deep breath. He didn’t want to hear policy ramblings, especially after the Flashpoint time rewriting, for sure. “Thanks, Chief.”

The two approached the iced over building, Jay running a finger across the ice. “Cold,” which confirmed at least that it wasn’t illusionary or a trick of the eye somewhat. What it also meant was that it could be shattered.

The two walked up to the front door, each placing their hands up to the ice. The vibration of their fingers and palm started small, testing the density and thickness of the ice first. Then the vibrations grew in intensity, melting the ice directly on it and nearby but also introducing faults throughout the structure. This would probably break the doors as well, but there were resources to pay for damages.

The heat melted more ice than the vibrations chipped any off, until about thirty seconds in. Some inflection point had passed, and large cracks showed up all throughout the ice, before a large chunk shattered in front of them. Not large enough to walk comfortably through, but enough to take advantage of the surprise to crawl through and get inside.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ugh. Whatever that crash upstairs was, it wasn’t good tidings.

Lisa glanced at Abra, both grimacing as they tried, wordlessly, to figure out who was going to be the one heading upstairs. They were both in the bank’s vault, tossing bundles of cash through an open portal. They hadn’t even bothered to secure or watch the hostages, feeling confident that most average folks would rather sit still than risk being frozen into a popsicle or magic’d into nonexistence.

“Let me go up and see what that’s about, you keep getting money,” Abra offered, heading towards the staircase. Lisa was satisfied with that, a magician probably could defend himself better than her ice skates could. Abra jogged up the stairs, hearing the sounds of many sets of footprints. Hostages escaping or police force coming in. Probably both.

Instead of rushing in head first, Abra sprinkled a bit of dust on himself, making himself nearly invisible to the naked eye. He hugged the wall as he left the stairwell, eyes focused first on where the hostages were told to stay – all gone. The two Flashes in the main entryway were his next focus. He crushed a small marble in his pocket, sending a warning to Lisa downstairs – now was the time for her to leave.

Time to leave their mark. The two of them didn’t seem to see or hear him as he moved out of their stairwell, pulling out a small cylinder of herbs and powder. He snapped it in two, throwing each half at the two Flashes. As soon as it came out of his invisible cloak, the two reacted fast enough to get out of the way, but it served its purpose.

The tubes began their effect, turning into a condensed area of choking gas. The Flashes were no longer in there, but it was enough for them to focus on as he moved onto his next step. He rubbed a bit of lotion on his wrists, using the magic to then float up in the air. Flashes were fast, but they were vertically challenged, so long as he stayed out of arm’s reach in the air there wasn’t much they could do.

The Flashes investigated the gas, taking a sample seemingly as the one with the metal hat charged off towards the vault. When he came back empty-handed, Abra felt confident that Lisa had dipped. He took out two small spheres, tossing them at nearby walls. They exploded on impact, spelling out their requested calling card—CBIN—in a material that would slowly shift colors while also being difficult to remove.

Abra wanted to mess with the Flashes more, but getting caught right now was going to be terrible. One of them was already doing a touch test on every inch of the building he could reach, so the longer he waited the more he risked one of them doing some superspeed nonsense to find him. This wasn’t even supposed to be an actual interaction, he had been running a script for generic SWAT teams. It was time to go.

A small wand apparated in his hand, which he circled around himself. A quick teleport back to home base ensured his safety, though the rush of adrenaline still kept him on edge.

“What happened, you’re back quick,” Lisa asked, not even finished organizing the bags of money they had lifted.

“Flashes showed up,” Abra groaned, taking a deep breath. “Not convinced we were set up, they didn’t seem to be expecting me.”

“Guess we’ll see what the Curator says, if anything. Bad bait if they couldn’t even figure out your gimmicks after all of this.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Jay sighed, shaking his head. “Why ice, though? Really feels targeted in a way, who is going to freeze over a building and then just ignore the hostages other than Snart?”

Wally nodded. “Just not dismissing possibilities. Do we know for sure that was him? Do we know for sure that the magician or whatever the guy you faced was acting alone?”

“Nobody else in the building. I suppose they could’ve escaped alongside the hostages, but surely the hostages wouldn’t just let their captor slip out with them.”

Wally’s eyes narrowed. “It’s happened before, no?”

“In movies, maybe,” Jay chuckled. “We shouldn’t discount the possibility, I guess. Just seems so odd to me that the building freezes over, but then whatever we actually faced inside was like, gas canisters and graffiti bombs. Pretty sure there’s more, given that we never actually saw where the things were coming from, but hard to pinpoint what or how.”

“CBIN, right?”

“Not even a shell company. We’re trying to track down what it could be connected to, but anything associated with CBIN seems to be entirely disconnected. And no hostage remembers anything. Even the guy who was supposedly talking to him claims to have a blank spot on what the guy was saying or what he looked like.”

Elsewhere in the country, a man and a woman sat quietly. The man lifted each stack of bills telekinetically, magically detaching the dye that had stained each banknote. It wasn’t a particularly quick process, but it was calming. At least Abra was able to do it stack by stack, which made the process faster.

The woman sat at a computer, typing out a letter. They were growing more suspicious of the Curator, given that The Flash had shown up. Their understanding was that the Flash Museum, which the Curator was supposedly a part of, was not on good talking terms with The Flash folk themselves.

And yet, two of them had shown up. That wasn’t a smoking gun, The Flash could show up literally anywhere they wanted at presumably seconds’ notice, but for them to show up after this had been the Curator’s request hit for authenticity? They weren’t going to cut off contact with the Curator, not just yet, but they both were more suspicious than they had been. They hadn’t even mentioned the Flash appearance yet to Anthony, who likely would’ve reached poorly. He didn’t remember hating The Flash during the time change nonsense but had been willing to learn. The two of them felt better holding on to the information for now, anything suspicious might’ve caused him to careen into theorist worries and get cold feet.

They sat quietly. The next step, no matter what the Curator responded with, was to find more allies. The Curator was a potential sponsor, which was fine, but they needed more allies that could help in a fight. Lisa remembered more than just the three of them—four of them, but the kid didn’t want to join—during their time experience but finding them had been more difficult.

2024.06.01 18:30 ses1 Do Late Accounts and No Eyewitnesses Justify Doubting The Historical Authenticity of People & Events?

Is one justified in rejecting the historicity of the life of Jesus if there are no eyewitnesses to Him and His life, and the accounts are decades after He lived? Is this the standard that historians use? Or is it a double standard?
The Strange Case of Hieronymus of Cardia
Hieronymus [356–323 BC] is not a household name, but among historians he’s known for several things. He was an eyewitness to the campaigns of Alexander the Great, but he lived to the age of 104 — long enough to record the first battle between a Roman army and a Hellenistic kingdom. He was a friend and confidant of kings and commanders during the chaotic aftermath of Alexander the Great’s death. He was a military governor in Greece. Furthermore, he managed the asphalt industry on the Dead Sea.
Above all, he is regarded as a key source for many of the most of the history of the years 320–270 BCE. He’s also a prime authority for Plutarch’s famous biographies of Eumenes, Demetrius Poliorcetes, and Pyrrhus. In fact, he’s often cited as the first Greek to write about the rise of Rome.
On the other hand, Dionysius Halicarnassus — writing during the reign of Augustus — called him “a historian no one bothers to finish.” He’s everywhere without being personally a key historical figure.
However:
The bit about him being 104 at the age of his death comes from another author whose work is also lost: Agatharcides of Cnidus who lived roughly sometime in the later 2d century BC — born probably three generations after Hieronymus’ death. We know he discussed Hieronymus because he, in turn, is quoted by Lucian of Samosata (~ 125–180 CE) — about 300 years after Agatharcides and over 400 from Hieronymus.
The oldest surviving work that refers to Hieronymus by name is that of “a certain person named Moschion” who probably would have lived a bit before Agatharcides, writing in Sicily — 750 miles or more from where Hieronymus lived and worked and maybe 75 years after his death. The only thing we know about Moschion is the handful of his pages quoted by Athenaeus, about 450 years after Hieronymus.
There’s no reference to Hieronymus in any Latin source, despite his reputation as an early reporter of Rome. The reference to him being the first Greek to write about Rome comes from Dionysius of Halicarnassus, writing about 250 years after Hieronymus’ death.
Key biographical details — his relationship with Eumenes, his work for the Antigonid dynasty, and his governorship — only show up in Plutarch, 350 years after Hieronymus’ day.
The history for which he is famous is lost; it exists only in paraphrases or name-checks by later writers. Although there are several facts attributed to him, there is no verbatim quote of anything the wrote. It’s a commonplace among historians that Hieronymus is the main source for much of what is interesting and detailed in the work of Diodorus of Sicily, who wrote 200 years or more after Hieronymus’ death.
Diodorus tends to be somewhat wordy and diffuse, but when he covers the age of Hieronymus he suddenly becomes more detail oriented, has interesting anecdotes, and provides reasonable numbers; this is all assumed to come from Hieronymus. However, although Diodorus does refer to Hieronymus (for example, he tells the story of Diodorus’ job in the asphalt bureau in book 19) he never explicitly quotes him. The common assumption is that big chunks of books 18–20 are basically plagiarized from Hieronymus — but naturally, Diodorus doesn’t tell us this himself.
He’s not quoted by Polybius, whose account overlapped with events he wrote about. His most industrious recyclers are Diodorus and Dionysius during the transition from Roman republic to Roman empire (~200 - 250 years), and then Appian and Plutarch in the second century CE (~ 350 - 400 years).
It’s worth pointing out that not only is he not attested very close to his own lifetime — neither are many of the sources which refer to him. Agatharcides for example has no contemporary mentions — he’s cited by Diodorus, and by early Roman-era writers but none closer to him than a couple of generations.
Diodorus, too, is not referred to by his contemporaries — we have to guess when he died from the contents of his book, which does not refer to any event later than around 32 BC. At least his book survives him — about a third of it, anyway. The last complete copy was destroyed during the Turkish sack of Constantinople. There is no evidence for him that does not come from his own writings, and the oldest explicit quotation from him is from Athenaeus in the latter half of the second century CE, over 200 years from his own time.
Of the people mentioned in this piece by name Plutarch, Appian, Athenaeus, and — of course — emperor Augustus are attested by contemporary sources and known by any other means than their own writings. Only Augustus and Plutarch are known from physical objects (the latter from a single inscription). There is an inscription from Diodorus’ hometown in the name of a Diodorus; we have no way of knowing if it’s the same Diodorus and it offers no clue to the date.
This is how a fairly famous person — a widely cited author, diplomat, and friend of kings — fares in the sources. Hieronymus of Cardia is a figure who is completely familiar to ancient historians; if anything they are often over-eager to spot traces of him — he is almost universally assumed to be the source of most of the interesting and detailed bits of Diodorus and Dionysius in the the era of Alexander’s successors. He routinely shows up in any discussion of the early historiography of Rome.
But he does not pass the contemporary mention test by a country mile.
The implication:
Therre are no eyewitness account for the life of Hieronymus of Cardia and no contemporary accounts of him either, yet historians have no doubt or minimal doubt that he existed.
But maybe is just an outlier, surely this is just an anomaly, an exception, an oddity....
What about other well known people from history, they certainly are much more documented than people from Bible, right?
Spartacus 103–71 BC
The story of a slave turned gladiator turned revolutionary has been told and retold many times in media. Although a well-known and much-admired historical figure, Spartacus does not actually have any surviving contemporary records of his life. His enduring fame is in part due to the heroic visage crafted by a priestess of Dionysus, who was also his lover.
The story is mentioned in Plutarch’s biography of Crassus, the wealthy Roman who ultimately put down the uprising led by Spartacus. Parallel Lives was a collection of 48 biographies of prominent historical figures written by the Greek historian in the second century AD. Another major source of information about Spartacus came from another Greek, Appian, writing around a century after the events.
Hannibal born in 247 B.C
Despite how well-known his great deeds as a general are, there are no surviving firsthand accounts of Hannibal - or indeed Carthage at all. The closest thing to a primary source for the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage is the account written by the Greek historian Polybius around a century later
The historian was alive for the third and final Punic conflict and spoke to survivors of the second war, but obviously did not meet Hannibal himself.
Another major ancient source, which drew on other works from the time that are now lost, was by the Roman historian Livy. The History of Rome was written in the first century AD, but only part of the 142-book collection remains. While not considered as objective as Polybius and far removed from the events, Livy’s work fills in a lot of the gaps.
Alexander the Great 356 - 323 BC
At its peak, his empire stretched from the Balkans to the Indus River. Countless pages have been written of his deeds, but almost all were done long after his was dead
Our only knowledge comes from the much later works that drew on those long-lost pages. Perhaps the most valuable of all was the tome written by his general Ptolemy, who would later found his own great empire. One of the very few written records that survive from Alexander’s time is an incredibly brief mention of his passing in a small clay tablet of Babylonian astronomical reports.
William Wallace 1270 - 1305 AD
The screenplay for the 1995 film Braveheart occasionally drew upon a poem written by a monk known as Blind Harry in the 15th century.
Because Harry's romanticized account was penned more than 150 years after the Scottish hero was tried and executed at the behest of Edward I, it’s not exactly going to be a reliable telling of the tale. One of the few contemporary records comes from a single English chronicle that doesn’t try to be objective: …a certain Scot, by name William Wallace, an outcast from pity, a robber, a sacrilegious man, an incendiary and a homicide, a man more cruel than the cruelty of Herod, and more insane than the fury of Nero…
The passage details an unflattering description of the Scottish defeat at Falkirk in 1298, where Wallace apparently fled the scene before being captured. The time between the loss and his later apprehension was spent in mainland Europe, attempting to raise support for his cause. We know this because one of only two surviving documents personally attached to Wallace is a letter written on his behalf by the King of France to the Pope
Attila the Hun (c. 406-453 AD) was one of late antiquity’s most notorious figures, a brutal conqueror who ransacked the weakened Roman Empire.
Little is actually known of the Huns, as they left little evidence behind, and the few contemporary accounts that remain are from sources not disposed to view them favorably. The surviving fragments of a history of Rome written by Ammianus Marcellinus depict a backward, savage people of unknown origin.
As for Attila himself, much of his early life is the subject of speculation from later authors. Jordanes, a 6th-century Eastern Roman historian, wrote a second hand account as he drew upon the work of Priscus, a fellow Eastern Roman who actually met Attila. Unfortunately, only a few scraps of Priscus’s work remain.
So it seems that historians have no problem in taking as historical, people and events are much less evidence than what the Bible contains.
If anyone uses the "The gospels are not eyewitness accounts" argument to dismiss the Gospels as history, commits the double standard logical fallacy
Objection A - But Jesus is said to be God and rose from the dead. That's a major difference between all these other historical figures
Reply: So, your real objection has to do with the metaphysical implications of saying the Jesus rose from the dead, not the hidtorical nature of the account. That is beyond the scope of this argument.
However, I invite you to read why Philosophical Naturalism [the idea that only the physical exists] is logically self-refuting and why there is evidence for God
Objection B - The eyewitness stuff is important with the Gospels because there is a massive difference between 'I lived with Jesus for a few weeks after he died' and 'I heard others lived with Jesus for a few weeks after he died.
Reply: But the "eyewitness stuff" is apparently not impoertant - see nthe above for how many people/events are considered historical sans eyewitness account. The take Luke, for example, said the he investigated everything from the beginning and wrote an orderly account. This sems to be in line with what other ancient historians did, like Herodotus, Tacitus, Pliny the Younger, Lucian - There is overwhelming evidence for the existence of Jesus of the Bible in ancient non-Christian sources
EDIT: Thesis is my negative answer to the title.

2024.06.01 14:53 Kneesaregood Sub Mini headaches! (Distortion help/advice needed)

I’ve got a beam 2 with 2 One SL surrounds and a sub mini connected to an e-arc TV.
Today I played Bladerunner 2049 on Dolby Atmos. TV/Sonos volume set to 12. Trueplay on. EQ set to 0 for everything. Sub mini volume set to 0. Loudness on.
Right at the beginning there is a lot of bass and some sounds that were a bit too much like distortion without being 100% sure that’s what it is. In particular there’s a wide shot with the car flying over the structures and the words “California 2049” appear. There is a distinct distortion noise at that exact point, not fast enough to be instantly recognisable as a fart and slow enough to mistake for an electric special effect as the letters appear. But if I turn the sub bass down to -8 then there is still bass but that sound is not audible so it’s distortion. And my understanding (could be wrong) is that distortion sounds bad but also damages your speakers, so it needs to be avoided at all costs.
Last night I was watching Ghostbusters who you gonna call with Dolby Atmos with the original settings (sub mini at 0) and tv/Sonos volume on 20 and it was bassy but not distorted and much louder as a result. Today I’m watching with the bass on -8 and it’s noticeably worse than last night (I mean the listening experience with the lower bass does not sound as good).
There is also an Xbox game my kids like called “troll rescue remix” where one of the enemies/hazards you need to get past are speakers with huge bass that pushes you backwards if you don’t hold a button to grab on to the ground. That game makes the sub mini distort really badly unless the sub is on -8 or -10. Absolutely crazy.
Is this just a feature of the sub mini and everyone has to have the app ready to tune each film or game they play (at least for the first time) or do I have a duff unit or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
Edit **ghostbusters on 18 volume, massive bass, no distortion. Is it certain frequencies mine has issues with. I’ve never had to call sonos support but I’m wondering if that’s my next option.

2024.06.01 12:54 QueasyStorage637 Looking for novel

Hi I just came across a novel, chosen by the moon novel by izabella W. Its on pay by chapter websites, I've opened and read a few chapters but I can't seem to find any free version or chapter version anywhere. Please help. If anyone has read it I'm willing to take spoilers. Here's the advert I found below of it on Facebook.
Lycanthrope species is a disgusting race. And I, Delan Riley, am nothing more than a human scum in their eyes never expected those species would turn my world upside down. Since when the lycans managed to penetrate our town, like in the early 1900's we have a hierarchy, upper class = the lycans, middle class = mated humans, and lower class = the normal humans, who were basically considered scum. I endured their torment day after day, vowing to run away from them one day, until that day came and everything changed.
Dylan POV "Humans," I scowled at the principal's words from tannoy. "The Alpha twins will be celebrating their birthday tomorrow, as such, festivities are in order." Oh great, the Alphas twin children. Adrian and Arya are the worst lycans alive. I swear just because they are the alphas kids they literally get away with everything. If their birthday is tomorrow, then the wolves are going to be worse than ever. "All students will be present to greet them, two lines will be made, with humans on the left and the lycanthrope on the right. Any mated human will be at the front of the line for their year, you will all also be in order of your school year. That is all." Chat broke out the minute the tannoy was finished. "We haven't had a school gathering since the alpha king visited three years ago, before his sons coronation." Nick was right, the last time we all gathered like that was for the king and queens visit, when he decided to let the world know that he was to renounce his title to his only child, son Josh. "That sick bestard, he wants to make sure everyone is there so those idiot twins can find their mates." Yes I was mad, my fists connected with the table in front of me once more as I thought about how disgusting the situation was. You see the twins will be turning 17, so it's very possible someone in our school could be their mate, finding a mate is sacred to a wolf, the minute they say that one word your fate is sealed. They will turn your mind, morph you into being a lover of their kind, and then you'll give in.

That won't happen to me, I'm growing old to see the world as it once was, and I'm going to choose who I'll be with. No one will take that dream away from me.

Once dinner was finished, I just wanted to sleep. I'd had a very long tiring day, I quickly sat down on a small stool my mother kept in the storage closet and removed my shirt while my brother Freddy sat at the table to do his simple homework. It wasn't long before my mother came in with a large bowl of warm salt water and some cotton, this was going to sting I just knew it. She was here to help me with the wounds caused by wolves yesterday. She slowly began to unwrap the bandage from around my torso and slowed down drastically when it came to the final layer, I felt it peel off every wound and my fists clenched in pain. "Jesus!" I heard my mom exclaim once the dressing was completely removed. The air on my back was nice though and I sighed as my arm covered my once again exposed brests. "This is more than 15!" I began to hear sniffles coming from her and sighed turning round to look at her face, only to notice tears streaming down it. "Mom I'm fine, it's alright." She shook her head. "It's not alright, I'm your mother I shouldn't let these things happen. I'm so sorry. Your father would have..." here she goes again. Every single time something happened she'd always bring up dad, it really annoyed me because no matter how much we all wish he was here, he just isn't. My father was kiled by THEIR kind, almost 5 years ago when they actually managed to take over. When the lycans managed to penetrate our town my father rose up with some people from the neighborhood, to defend our livelihood, it was futile to say the least. We lost many people and I watched as my dad was ripped apart by two fully shifted wolves, I ended up shoting him to stop his suffering before they dragged me to the courtyard, i was the person to receive the first lashing of the town when I was 12! The wolves have been pretty strict with me since that day. "Stop being stvpid!" Was I harsh? Definitely! Did she need to hear it again, absolutely. "Dad is dead, we don't know what he'd do because he never knew this life. He never knew this world." I know what he'd have done, most likely attacked the guy who held the whip and got himself kiled in the process. "The best thing you can do for me, is stop crying and help me, next time don't insist on helping if you can't handle it." She began to wash my open wounds with the warm salt water causing loud winces to leave me, I knew it was necessary to prevent infection, but my god it hurt like a betch. "Some of these are really deep Dylan!" She sniffed again and my eyes rolled in my head. "I told you, I'm fine, just wrap me back up so I can get to bed." My mom was obviously more impacted by my injuries than I was, I suppose that always the case though. When it's happening to you, you've just got to get through it but when it's happening to someone you love, you just want to take their pain away. She quickly placed a fresh bandage around my waist and chest and wrapped it tightly for compression. The bowl of water that was used was now red in color, I guess from the blood my back was dripping with. "Can you keep your head down please? At least just this week. You can't take any more lashings." I simply nodded before standing up away from the stool, I walked over to Freddie and ruffled his hair in affection. "Good night squirt." He giggled and fixed his hair slightly. "Night Dilly." I smiled walking upstairs to my little bedroom, as soon as I was inside i shut the door and flopped down on to my bed on my stomach and I took a minute to cry to myself at the pain in my back, what my mom did was important but it hurt, not that I'd ever tell her. My hand covered my mouth quickly to muffle any noise I might be making. I couldn't tell anyone, I had to be strong because more and more people were crumpling these days, and my mom would break if she knew how much I was suffering. Sleep followed me shortly after, she was right though about me needing to keep my head down for the time being, I could not take another lashing! After a long night and an even longer morning, we were all finally stood in the hallway at school waiting for the twins to arrive. "Mine!" Everyone that was stood in the hallway tensed up, as we were seniors, me and Nick were stood towards the very back of the human line. All the mated people were situated directly opposite their wolf mates in their years. We stayed silent and still as Arya walked down the hall and stopped directly in front of Nick. His eyes widened in fear, unsure of wether to look up or keep his head lowered. "Look me in the eye, mate." He glanced at me slightly as if asking what he should do. "I said, look me in the eye." He slowly moved his eye line up to look at her face. I took a glance myself to see her eyes pitch black with lust. "I... can't... I mean... erm." Before he was able to mutter anything else, two wolves from opposite, grabbed him out of the line and dragged him behind Arya. "Hey!" My head shot up before I could stop myself. My mouth also forgot its place as I jumped out of line. Everyone's head shot to me as my eyes widened in realization at what I'd done. Adrian, the other twin, walked up to me before punching me right in the stomach, I doubled over instantly. Feeling the sting in my slightly healed back. "I know you... You were publicly flogged only two days ago." God I hate this guy. "I also have it on good authority, that you openly spoke out against our rules and regulations in yesterday's class." My head shot down the line slightly to see Erin, looking a little frightened, her mate, the beta to be was looking at her, nodding his head in reassurance. "You traitor, you grassed on your own kind?" I yelled at her before feeling a fist connect with my cheek. My head whipped to the side from the force, while my class members gasped. I'm so done with this treatment, right then, I wasn't in charge of my actions. My fists curled up and my stance became a lot more defensive. My head snapped up to the alpha to be, and I looked him in the eye. "You don't know the meaning of the word disrespect." I suddenly hurled my fist towards his head, which he easily dodged, but my foot came up and kicked him instead. He stumbled backwards from the force with wide eyes. "You... you Actually hit me!" He didn't even sound annoyed, more shocked. Everyone in the hallway was watching, waiting for the alpha to do something but instead he simply stood up straight, regaining his composure. "I think everyone should get back to class." He began to walk away, following his sister when I called him back. "What about Nick?!" "Simple, He's my sisters mate. He now belongs to her." Argh, he's not an object. "He's not her property." A chuckle left his mouth, before turning his back to me again. "All humans are property." A short while later everyone made it to science class, our teacher Mrs Mathews is mated to the lycans pack doctor, she also now has a four and two year old with him. She was one of the first humans to be cohered into a false relationship. "What were you thinking young lady?" I rolled my head at her before looking at the empty seat next to mine. Nick was with that stvpid wolf girl right now. Being changed, I'm so angry it's ridiculous. "I was thinking, this guy is being a prick. Did you hear him? 'All humans are property.' It's bull shet." I looked up and the whole class looked at me like I had three heads. Talking shet about wolves is one thing, but talking about an alpha is punishable by death, attacking an alpha is an even worse offense. There was then a knock at the door and in walked Erin and her band of mated bestards. "Sorry we're late Mrs." "Erin, how are things between you and bata Monroe?" She blushed, the traitor actually blushed at the mention of his name. "He spoke to me last night about trying for a baby. We need a good strong boy to take over as beta." I scoffed looking at her as she took her seat. "You guys are actually pathetic, why can't it be a girl? Those mutts are basically Neanderthals" I voiced my opinion and saw all the shocked faces around me. Calling the lycans mutts, is the same as them calling us scum. After lesson had ended the entire school was called into the hall for assembly. This is where any human who has been found to have broken the rules were punished, usually 10 lashings were goven out or something similar. "Welcome to the school assembly, congratulations to the alpha twins for finding both your mates. Now on to the business at hand, as the 5 year anniversary of the new world is coming up, we have been informed that the alpha king will be visiting our district next week, this is very exciting news. We want you all to look your absolute best, she wolves and mated females will wear exemplary dresses made by seamstress. Male wolves and mated men will wear tailored suits. Anyone who doesn't comply will be reprimanded." The Alpha King?! No one has met him yet, he took over the throne three years ago when he turned 18. He really didn't make any appearances though, great, this month is going to be a nightmare. "As for the humans, you will be given a new uniform to wear for the visit, these are to be neatly ironed and worn to the highest standard. As for the following humans, based on your attitude this past week, you will be coming to the front and facing punishment. Tony summerset?!" Tony's head shot up as he looked around, he was in the year below but he shared my views when it came to the lycans. He slowly walked up to the front of assembly, almost instantly his top was t0rn in two and he received 10 lashings. A girl named Kara was next and she too received 10 lashings. A few more people went up slowly accepting their fate then suddenly my name was called. "Dylan Riley." Inside I was terrified but I simply shrugged my shoulders, I guess I did kind of expect this. Although I'm not sure if my back can take any more damage. "You attacked an alpha, correct!" His eyes bored into mine as I bowed my head submitting to his authority. "Technically, no." Everyone in the school gym looked on in fear, as my head moved to the front row of the wolf side. Adrian sat, with a werewolf girl in the year below, her name was Jana, I guess he found his mate. Nick and Arya were no where to be seen though. Adrian gave me a shrug as if to say he didn't tell, before smirking at my comment. "He hasn't officially taken the alpha title yet, so he's just..." i looked at the principle and noticed his eyes black and his claws out, he was in what lycans call a half shift, triggered when the subject has become angered. He turned to two security wolves and gave them a nod, Almost immediately i was forced onto my knees, my arm was slammed on a table and held in place by one wolf, while my body was held in place by the other. "Ok, I don't think this is needed, I have alpha blood, a stvpid human girl can't hurt me." My head snapped to Adrian who had stood up in front of the school to stop what was happening. "Nevertheless, humans need to know their place." With that the pressure on my arm increased as our principals hand pulled my sleeve up before a long claw punctured my skin. The searing pain shoting from the fresh wound had my eyes scrunched and my fist clenched, I bit the inside of my cheek hard instantly tasting blood, however no sound left my mouth. He continued to write, using my skin as a canvas and his claws as a marker, it went on forever, my vision blurred slightly at one point as I turned my head away. After minutes of torture, he was done and the pressure on my arm eased, instantly I snatched my arm away, hissing through my teeth at the pain. I was about to scurry off stage, when I was roughly grabbed yet again, my arm being held in the air by the principal while my feet were inches off the floor, blood dripped from the wound and the pattern he had made was on show for everyone to see. Loads of people gasped, even the wolves looked slightly horrified at what had happened. "This is what happens when a human decides to speak out. I can promise, anyone who so much as says one word about our way of life, will have the same punishment." My arm was starting to seriously ache from being held in the air for so long, and the lack of blood flow to my suspended arm was causing me pins and needles, still I refused to make a sound. I held the tears back and I bit my cheek harder causing more blood to fill my mouth. "That's enough Bradley!" Adrian growled, he was still stood up and looking at the scene in front of him. His eyes hard as he stared at the principal a low warning growl erupted from his chest which had the head teacher gulping, he quickly let go of my arm causing me to crash to the floor. A small cry left my mouth as I hit the hard floor. Immediately I scrambled away, my foot just missed the high step leading to the stage and I fell, waiting for the impact of the ground, but it never came. Two strong arms wrapped around me catching my weak body causing me to look up, my eyes widened as I noticed Adrian had caught my falling form. "This isn't part of the human punishment program!" Adrian growled causing me to tense in his grip, I pushed him away from me before fixing my uniform top. The room was deadly silent, taking in the scene in front of them, while I stole a glance at my forearm. Carved into my skin by his devastating claws were two words, words that would most definitely scar my body for life. 'Human scum' "Lessons must be learned, she received lashing merely two days ago, and clearly it had no effect on her." Another growl left Adrian's chest as he stepped on to the stage, I wasn't bothered though, you would think I'd be ashamed but I simply smiled slightly. I fixed my sleeve a little so it wouldn't rub on the fresh wound before speaking. "It doesn't matter," the whole room looked at me shocked by my attitude. "I would rather be labeled human scum, than have any resemblance to your kind. I'm proud of what I am, how many of you can say that?" After my amazing little speech, I walked right down the middle between the humans and lycans and out the door. No more compliance, I'm going to get away with as much as I can without getting into too much bother. There will come a day when the lycans power will fizzle out. When it does I'll be ready, I'll be waiting for the day we take our world back. As for the best part about my plan...

No one can stop me.

"Ouch, not so hard." I seethed as the school nurse cleaned my new wound with antiseptic. "If you had of just kept your mouth shut, this wouldn't have happened." I turned to my right looking out the window at the few clouds that were floating in the blue sky. "Like I said, I'm proud to be human, and now everyone knows what I am." I clenched my fist together as the nurse began wrapping a bandage around my forearm. It had been a good few hours since the incident in the hall, and I had been forced to come to the nurces office after I had tried to clean my wound by splashing it with water from the tap, it also refused to stop bleeding. "You are impossible. Can you please just try and stay out of trouble? For one day, that's all I ask." Our school nurse is a wolf, she's one of them. However she hates the way they treat us mere humans, she thinks we should all just live in peace with equal rights. Like that would ever happen. "All I've done is stay out of trouble, but you are just going to humiliate me anyway, so what's the actual point?" "The pack were discussing a public execution, Dylan. You need to walk on egg shells from now on, not just for you but for your family as well." No ones been publicly executed in over 4 months, I'm flattered they're considering it. They only execute people who they believe are the biggest problems to society. "Well then... I'm flattered." I chuckled, before looking at the patch job. 'Huh, not too shabby.' I quickly stood up from the human nursing station and pulled the sleeve of my shirt down covering the evidence of ever being hurt. "This is serious!" I just gave her a blank look before leaving the room. On the way out I heard her call back to me. "Please just think about it." I gave a clipped nod as I walked away wondering how I'm going to tell my mom about this. Later in the evening... "Dilly why you say that?" Freddie looked up at me with a mouth full of bread. "Don't speak with your mouthful!" My mom scolded him as a bashful blush made its way to his cheeks. "Sowwy mommy." His reply was muffled as he swallowed the last chunk of food. "I said it Freddie, because it's the truth. The wolf race are a pathetic excuse for..." my mom cut me off with an extremely stern look. "Dylan! They have ears everywhere, one more word out of you and it's your room." I scowled, my hatred for the Lycan kind growing stronger as each day passes. "What more can they do to me, lash me? Beat me? Brand me? They've ran out of options." I stated slamming my hands down, then severely regretting it as sharp pain shot though my wound. "What was that?" My head shot to regard my mothers worried expression. Her eyebrows were raised and her eyes were dull and judging as she looked at me. "Nothing, it was nothing." I quickly took my plate in my hand and began to walk to the kitchen. "I'm not really hungry, and I have homework to do!" My mom caught hold of my forearm causing me to drop my plate suddenly, I watched it slowly fall before shattering on the floor. I retracted my arm quickly and turned to Freddie. "Stay there and don't move until it's cleaned up ok sport?" He just nodded with wide eyes, I turned back to my mom and noticed her curious stare on my arm. Her grip shifted to the other side as she turned it around before pulling my sleeve up. The bandage was showing and a bit of blood was seeping though after the wound had been disturbed. "What the hel happened?" My moms eyes widened as she began to fumble with the bandage. Before she could unravel any of it I snatched my arm away. "I had an accident at school. No big." I began to gather the large pieces of the broken plate up ready to put them in the bin. "What did you do Dylan?" She looked at me with pure worry and only then did I realize what the wound must look like to someone who didn't know. "For gods sake! I didn't do it to myself! I got publicly punished at the assembly alright? It's no big deal." Her face dropped instantly and she stepped towards me, causing me to step backwards. "Mom, I'm ok. So back off will you." "What did you do? I've never known them to cut someone's arm as a punishment." Her shock and accusation was evident in her voice and I sighed heavily. "I spoke against the alphas son." I may have hit him too, but I wasn't going to divulge that part to her. "It's not one big cut, mom, it's a brand, 'human scum' carved onto my arm." "They've branded you now too?!" My eyes rolled at her hurt tone as I went to get the dustpan and brush. "You're so much like your father." A sigh left her mouth as she spoke, running a hand through her hair, while I quickly swept up the little pieces of the broken plate. "You've had a new uniform delivered. It's laid out on your bed. Dylan, Please just try and stay respectful in the future, I don't want my daughter to be completely mutilated. Although you're not far off." "Gee, Thanks." I then walked over to my little brother Freddy before blowing a kiss into his neck and hearing him giggle. "So sport, how's school going?" "It's ok." He shrugged before going back to coloring a dinosaur picture in. "Well that's good, stay out of trouble, ok little man?" Heading upstairs and into my room, my thoughts wandered to the permanent graffiti scar very slowly healing on my arm. Disgusting beasts. Think they own the world because they're faster, stronger and can shift. Pah. If you ask me they are not all that.

The second I walked into my room my mouth dropped open. On my bed was some grey pants laid out neatly, which wasn't the surprising part, no, what shocked me was the grey high neck no sleeved button down shirt, every single set of uniform had sleeves except this one. They've done this on purpose those, mutts. They want the world to see my arm and know what a disgusting creature I am. They want the world to know that I, Dylan Riley, am nothing more than 'human scum'.

During the last week, I've been horrible, in class I've been loud in voicing my views, I've insulted at least everyone to some degree, I didn't care about the consequences, and I certainly didn't think about them. I haven't seen Nick at all since he was claimed, and to make matters worse today was the royal visit. Oh yes, werewolves and mated humans alike were spending every waking minute preparing themselves to meet his royal majesty, king of the wolves. Unclaimed Humans however would rather stick pins in their eyes. "Dylan, get down now... you're going to be late." She was right, I was dawdling this morning, I really couldn't be bothered today, I gave myself one last look in the small mirror and sighed when my eyes met my newly uncovered brand. It had bad bruising around the letters, and was still extremely tender to touch, it was definitely healing now though. I made my way down the stairs and came face to face with my mother who was seeing to Freddie, she was helping my brother get his coat on when she turned to me. "You ready sport?" Freddie nodded his little head at me and smiled while I quickly slid my shoes on. "Just Remember, the alpha is bad enough, Dylan, please, please don't do anything to anger the king." My mother stopped us from walking out the door to tell me something she had been telling me continuously for the last couple of days, it was almost as if the entire human population of our district was expecting me to do something stvpid. "Try and have a good day." I rolled my eyes but nodded, even I know not to push the king, he could kil me in the hallway like it was nothing. In fact I plan on staying out of his way for the entirety of the day. "We will see you tonight mom." I stated before me and my brother began our walk to school, his little hand clutched my own tightly as we went. Usually Nick would be with us, as he lives next door, well he used to, now he's residing in the main pack house. I quickly dropped Freddie off at his school and watched him get the wolfsbane neutralizer before walking into him building giving me a small wave before he went in. With my new scar on complete show, and my figure being complimented by the skin tight shirt I was wearing, I sauntered down the street to school, I gave my name and year in and took the wolf's bane neutralizer injection with no problems at all. It was finally getting into school that the problem occurred. Walking through the halls I was met by many looks, some of pity some of disgust. You see every single non mated human in the school was wearing a long sleeved version of the uniform I was given. All the Wolves and mated couples were scattered around in fancy floor length dresses or tailored suits. As I turned the corner I noticed a couple, now this couple happened to catch my eye the most out of all of them because it consisted of Arya and Nick, eating each other's faces off. "What the hel!" Nicks head shot to me as his eyes widened. He too was dressed in a tailored suit, a navy blue tie hung on his neck to match Aryas dress. Why was this happening all the time? It's always my friends that get completely brain washed. I shook my head in disbelief before turning my back on him. I heard his fast footsteps behind me as I rounded the corner. "Dylan?!" He ran right in front of me, stopping me in my tracks, making me drop my bag off my shoulder and almost causing me to bump into him. "Let me just explain..." "Has she marked you?" I mean you could almost see it in his eyes, she had marked him, and knowing the way life goes he's probably even mated with her. "Actually... Don't even answer that." I aggressively picked my bag up off of the floor and stormed off down the hall. "Dylan, just listen to me, Erin was right, it's so hard to resist your soulmate, and Arya is actually ok once you get to know her." I just kept walking, he caught up to me walking beside me but it didn't matter, I completely ignored everything and everyone. 'I'm so not in the mood today' getting into class was good though, I said hello to Mr Foley and took my usual seat. Nick sighed then took his bag off ready to sit next to me, but I snapped before he had the chance. "Traitors and mated idiots sit on that side of the room." I didn't look him in the eye as I pointed to a seat right at the front of the classroom on the opposite side. His eyes widened as he turned his attention back to me. "You can't be serious Dylan." I gave him a blank look before grabbing my book out of my backpack, I placed it on the desk then began to write the date on the top line. "I've sat in this seat for as long as I can remember." I ignored him, his voice sounded sad and shocked. "Dylan? Wait! What is that?!" Before I could react Nick had grabbed hold of my branded arm and turned it to see the letters. "Oh my God! What happened?" I snatched my arm away from him and shrugged as I continued to write in my book before grabbing my water bottle out of my bag. "The principal happened, it was my punishment for speaking out against Adrian and Arya. I wear it with pride." He just held a complete look of disbelief. "You spoke out against them?" I shrugged, what did he think I'd do. "It's no secret that I despise this stvpid new world and the mutts that control it. You were my friend, I wasn't going to let them just take you without saying something, although that is exactly what you seem to have done. Enjoy the view from your new seat!" "Don't be like that, Dylan, I'm your best friend, I'm sorry about your arm, but..." my eyes rolled inside my head at my friends words. "Anything with the word 'but' in, isn't an apology, it's a rationalization." I took a drink of water from my bottle and kept my eyes facing forward, ignoring his every attempt to try and talk to me. "Dylan?.. Dylan?... Do you know what? Erin is right, if you push us all away you won't have any friends left." He huffed before walking over to the empty seat and sitting down, I could feel him glancing up at me every now and again but I didn't respond. "Good morning class, please settle down." He looked at me then at Nick and frowned, we've never sat apart, we were friends before the new world even began. I just shook my head telling him to forget it. "So... as you know the king will be arriving in a short while, but until then lessons will go on as normal." Its funny seeing teachers in the same uniform your wearing, mr Foley and his wife are the coolest. Human teachers and doctors only have slightly more respect than we do. Because of Mr Foley's status him and his wife have better access to food and drink, Mrs Foley is cool, sometimes she even makes sure mr Foley brings some in for me. Ya know, coz I'm their favorite student. It's not in a weird way, it's just they were friends of the family before the new wold took effect. Mr Foley and my dad were buddies from high school, so it goes without sayin really. "All the mated humans will be at the front of each years line again, after that you will all be placed in status, Nick, as your mated to Alpha Arya, you'll be at the front of your line. Dylan as you have been branded..." his voice trailed off as he looked at me. "Yeah yeah, I'll be at the back of the line behind everyone. I get it." I huffed, moving my sight towards the window once more. "I am sorry." I turned to face Mr Foley again, he looked genuinely upset and that look of pity wasn't something I wanted to see. I gave him a clipped nod then turned away again. "Anyway, on to the subject matter, 'Of Mice and Men, page 64, Nick why don't you start us off with the reading."

"Of course sir." Nick began reading the book but I switched off, today is going to be a long day. After almost an hour and a half of reading comprehension, the bell chimed signaling lunch. I shot up and out of the classroom before anyone could say anything. Today, I was avoiding drama like the plague.

I wandered the corridors straight to the lunch hall. All the people I would normally hang out with we're all mated so I grabbed my lunch quickly, and sat down at the end of the human table. Let me lay the lunch hall out for you. On one side of the room you have two long rows of tables, with simple benches that make it look like prison, on the other side of the room you have multiple round tables with fancy chairs. Yup you get it. The humans sit at the prison tables and the wolves and traitors sit on the fancy tables, they get fancy food, fancy drink and most importantly they get pudding. what I would give to have some pudding. "Dylan can we just talk?" Nick quickly took the spot next to me as he set his lunch tray down. I looked at his food which had been placed on a ceramic, circular white plate. God that looked good. I sighed knowing he was going to talk anyway. "Fine, you have two minutes." I used my fork to take a bit of pasta off his plate and shoved it into my mouth. God that was good. "After I left school, I was taken to the pack house with Arya, and I really got to know her. It took a few days for me to finally accept being with her, but ever since life has been ok, and the sax... well that's a whole other story." Eww, I didn't need that mental image in my head. "I'm glad your happy." I stated before deciding I had no appetite. His face held shock before he sighed in relief. "That means a lot Dylan, I mean you know that your opinion matters to me." I cut him off before he could say anything else. "I said I was glad your happy. I didn't say I approved of what you've done. You've basically turned into one of THEM, I can't ever forgive you for that." He looked hurt, but I couldn't care less about his feelings. He placed his hand gently on my arm and went to open his mouth when a growl sounded out. All heads whipped to where it came from, Arya was stood holding a glass of soda and a plate, she was looking right at me and Nick and I would totally be dead if looks could kil. Nick quickly retracted his hand, his whole face fell and you could see sorrow flood his irises. "You sit with me now, get away from that, that... scum!" Wow, Nick was such a lucky guy. NOT. "You heard her. Get away from me, go sit with your new friends. I'm happy for you, and I understand where your coming from, but don't come up to me again and pretend you didn't betray your own kind. Don't pretend you didn't betray me." I shoved a little bit of food into my mouth before standing up and walking out of the cafeteria, leaving my tray on the table. I was walking through the hallway to the classroom, you see I decided to spend lunch with Mr Foley in his room, when I happened to hear voices in the corridor. "Is it wise for her to actually be present when the king arrives? Surely she could be placed in the dungeons, it might actually teach her some respect?" My principal was speaking to the alpha of our district, huh, if I stayed and listened do you think they'd notice, maybe they could smell me?! "Everyone is to be present, if the Riley girl does one thing out of line she will be dealt with severely, child or not. That girl has been a blight to the district since day one, she's dangerous, if she puts one hair out of place I will personally break her into submission." Oh shet, they were talking about me specifically, and they mentioned the dungeon, that's not been used in months. Normally I would have listened in more but something about the entire situation didn't sit right with me, all of a sudden, I was on edge, and simply wasn't interested in the slightest in hearing how my misery was to be enhanced. I backed up slightly before turning around and bumping head first into one of the hottest man I had ever seen. I lost my balance immediately and fell straight on to the floor letting out a small grumble in the process. His eyebrows knitted together quickly and his breath hitched in his throat as he looked upon my fallen state and gasped. "Mate!" He whispered, his eyes fixated on mine. 2024.06.01 05:17 United-Barber-5643 complicated situation

I served from March 2015 to December 2019, got out of the Navy in lieu of trial, and avoided it by accepting an OTH discharge. I wanted to fight the case when I was in but suffered a medical condition that already added to the bad space I was already in mentally physically and emotionally so I just accepted the OTH not knowing too much about it. I filed a claim for compensation in July 2023 and also for the character of discharge review. I have submitted at least 20 characterization letters with the upgrade and even explained myself in depth in the letter that I wrote which easily reached 7 pages. I am currently in the Review evidence section of the compensation claim after being in preparation for the decision but moved backward. I am currently also in the review evidence in the character of the discharge claim as well. I filed for PTSD and the evaluator told me at the end that I didn't qualify for PTSD but I did qualify for adjustment disorder. What are my chances of getting compensation and a discharge upgrade?

2024.05.31 23:36 REA63 From Gentle Waves

On the southern coast of Firebrand, in the dead of night and under a pale and comforting full moon the city of Klastead peacefully rests, little care of danger enters the average citizen’s mind. They sleep soundly knowing the violence and savagery of the civil war is far away from the safe and secure streets of their comfortable home. Such were protected by her tall and broad stone walls, her dutiful legion of sharp and tutored watchmen keep keen eye out for anything to disturb such a peaceful night.
The sea casts gentle and soothing waves upon the mighty and sturdy docks. The sound made a loving lullaby for those close enough to hear it. From such waters a further gentle fog begins to float through, its movements slow and gentle as a blanket slithering its way through the quiet streets.
It’s Harbormaster has but one more shipment to check until his lonely and long yet rewarding shift comes to a close. After this one last shipment is checked and unloaded he would return to his family, to his wonderful wife and three children. Until then, only his trusty lantern was around to keep him company, its flickering flame kept him warm through the dark night.
Thoughts came to him after a moment, he looked out at the ruins of the former home of the city’s carrier ravens. A fire had taken it a few days prior, the ravens burned with it. An investigation has been done yet no sign of foul play had been found. And with the war going on no letters had come in some time, his mind shifted as he suddenly heard a ship approach the dock, change in the sounds of the waves a dead giveaway.
Nearest hour to the mid of night he walks to the dock, his green scales shining in the light of his trusted lantern. He heard the ship yet could ill see it, the fog had become too thick to see all that far out to see. A faint creaking he could hear under the dock beneath him, such sound was far from out of the ordinary so it was ignored. His eyes kept true to the sea before him, scanning for the vessel he heard on approach. He held his trusted friend aloft as to aid the sailers find the dock.
The Harbormaster saw the outline of… something out in the water, straining his amber eyes in hopes to get a better look. He grasped a post to lean forward over the planks, that creak louder yet again ignored. When he finally saw something a wind took him causing him to stumble backward, to regain his balance. To his dismay his source of light had fallen from his hand. Rushing to the edge again he saw the metal thing slowly sink to the bottom, he let out a sigh, he would get it in the morning he thought.
Out from the fog a sloop appeared, its hull and sails blacker than pitch. As he looked up and viewed the three mates aboard he prepared a rope to tie the transport to dock. Oddly the ship came to dock at its starboard, one of the men flung himself onto the dock and aided the knot tying.
This man the Harbormaster found to be of a rather sort, never seeing a drake of his type. Scales of blood and ebony, slender and tall with the most piercing red eyes he had ever seen. His cloak was oddly regal for just some sailer, blacks reds and gold adorned it. His doublet and boots the same. As the knot was fully tied the sailor stood and held out his hand to aid the Harbormaster up, he spoke in pleasantries through a kindly yet slightly off putting accent. “Greetings my friend, I humbly thank you for allowing us to dock at your fine city. May I ask your name?”
The Harbormaster took the hand and was surprised by the grip and strength of this sailor, it took him a second to give his response to the question. “Um my my… oh yes it’s Barton… Humfred Barton, and I am the master of this harbor. Now you lot do have a permit but I will require an inspection before allowing you to transport… whatever it is you are into the city.” He built his confidence the longer he spoke. The taller drake smiled kindly, his dagger-like teeth shone in the moonlight.
“Of course, we would gladly allow you to inspect the shipment, though I would prefer it be done as quickly as possible. You see after such a long voyage, my men and I are… hungry.” The other two men on the ship nodded, another already on the dock did the same, this time a woman in similar regality to the captain.
Humfred boldly adjusted his belt, he would get this last inspection done just as the apparent captain had said. As quickly as possible, he had to get home after all. He saw the Captain nod to the woman on the dock, said woman was soaked with water, her fashioned clothes the same. She fumbled with something in her hand, though in the darkness Humfred could simply not tell.
The Captain Led The Harbormaster onto the ship, his first two men following behind. The boat was a tad eery, the dark wood along with the sails painted a grim and somber picture of its captain and crew members. Spikes and bone motifs also were present along the prow, a skeleton as its figurehead.
His eyes at last met the shipment, many smaller crates along with one of a grander size. A cloth along with chains covered the thing. His attention was kept on it, several sounds of ragged breathing came from inside. A stench most foul also was present, smells of carrion, blood and well spoiled flesh invaded and soured his experienced nostrils. “What in Bahamut’s name is in there? That smell… and is that… breathing I hear, the manifest says you are transforming meat but… it clearly has spoiled long ago if that is even what is in there. I will have to deny your shipment and order you to leave immediately or else be fined for possible contraband.”
The boat went silent, Humfred felt strong in that moment. He stood his ground against the far taller drake of unknown and intimidating nature. Yet said drake took two steps closer to him, invading his boundaries and looming above him. Doing so caused his men to laugh, a wiry yet strong hand gripped Humfred’s shoulder. “My friend… my name is Dremroc, second living child of the Bloodstone count, admiral of his fleets and herald of his hosts. Such as I am I would implore you to reconsider. As an invitation to your fair city would be quite appreciated, though not required.”
Dremroc’s smile became a smirk as he pulled Humfred to the bow and held him tightly, a threat clear though unstated. “Gentlemen, show our host what he has allowed to dock at his city.” The two men complied, the woman continued to watch, a glee that Humfred unfortunately could very much see.
The two men pulled the cloth from the larger frame, revealing it to be a cage. Such cage housed two creatures, deathly slim with greened sickly flesh rotting and slipping from their scarred bones. Such things looked to have been once dragonborn as they all yet had somehow become changed, feral. The bloodshot eyes caught hints of light, causing them both to shriek wildly. A fury matched only to their married madness.
All the confidence of the Harbormaster immediately faded from him as he saw the monsters before him, he knew not what they were but nonetheless feared them and his new captors. Dremroc laughed and smelled the air, taking in his prisoner’s fear and enjoying it deeply.
The woman strode onto the ship, with arrogance and pride carved onto her regal and villainous face. The water on her well mannered outfit seemed to dry magically in moments. The thing in her hands only as she approached did the Harbormaster now realize was his trusty lantern, she held it upside down in her talons. Nails along the edges. “Good show little brother, good show indeed. Though perhaps pronouncing your titles to one so… simple was a tad over the top, I find acts can be much more effective at times.”
As she finished her words she will ease crushed the lantern in her claws and allowed the mangled remains to fall to the deck. Sounds of more ships making dock can be heard, with a snap of Dremroc’s fingers his crew perform a sort of spell, dark magic flies from their fingers and to the crates. Hands of bone smash through the wood, men of bone released from their prisons march orderly onto the dock. Out of the corner of his eye he sees the ships dock and release their own undead minions. With laughter he witnesses the woman open the cage, the creatures spring from it and surge forth. They shove past the skeletons and into the city, then regaining their composure and march soon after.
Dremroc Holds the Harbormaster to look as the city as the army marches under the cover of night and fog. He feels a sharp pain in his neck and after some time, falls limp and falls to the ground. “So it begins Vlaedukaah, father will be pleased.”
The woman smirks as the looks out onto the army’s march, the ghouls engage and quickly dispatch the first watchmen who notice them. “That he will, our beachhead has been established. Communications with the rest of the kingdom have already been cut, no one knows we are here. And with the war as distraction, along with how far Klastead is from anywhere else. As long as it keeps paying its tithe, we can hold it as long as we need.”

So Tell Me Everything Is Not About Speak Now. But What If It Is: Prologue
I should not admit how delighted with myself I am at the naming convention I chose for my Speak Now deep dives lmao. Or how it is making me feel like I’m channeling my inner Taylor Swift. I’m embracing the cringe y’all!
Before, I get to the Speak Now of it all though, I feel it is important to touch a bit on debut and Fearless.
I am not going to do deep dives on those two albums. As much as I love them, I don’t feel I know them well enough to, and I will never get to discussing Speak Now if I do.
Instead, I am going to link to posts that already exist in this sub as well as highlight some key points that I think are important to have in mind before we get to Speak Now. There are more posts about debut and Fearless than I’m linking to, so I encourage you to search for more if you feel what I’m highlighting isn’t enough. And, if you think I missed any posts or facts about the debut/Fearless eras that are important when it comes to Speak Now, please let me know in the comments.
Taylor Swift/Debut
Analyzing Taylor’s earlier albums from a queer perspective - Debut - u/glowoffthepavement created posts to discuss and analyze Taylor’s earlier albums from a queer perspective. They are worth going through in my opinion as the comments have some good information. Especially if you don’t know much about either album

Clip from the Debut Road Diaries where Taylor is worrying about Emily being taken away - I have tried to shift away from muse analysis with songs, for many reasons, but I think ignoring them completely isn't the right move either. Deconstructing Taylor's public narratives is something this sub does all the time and understanding that her songs could be about different people than Taylor alludes to, is important. Which is why to understand Speak Now, I think you should have some knowledge of Emily Poe (Debut/Fearless) and Liz Huett (Fearless/Speak Now/Red)
Listening to old albums…
Fearless

Other tidbits
I don’t know the full backstory behind this picture, but that is Emily Poe standing next to Taylor. The other thing that I think is important to point out, based on what I’ve read, is that her team tried to get the picture removed from the internet. They were obviously not successful.

Notably, she appears to be wearing Romeo’s shirt in the TV cover and she is looking in the other direction than in the OG Fearless cover.
I pointed this out in a recent theory thread, on Eras merch and posters, Fearless Taylor is the only TV picture used, the others are all from their original eras. I don’t have a theory on the why, and maybe it was that she just liked the picture better, but given that Taylor knows we’d notice something like this, it feels intentional. Especially because with the new tour merch, she could have chosen Speak Now and 1989 TV pictures.

In response to my comment in the theory thread, u/Kai_the_Fox pointed out that on The Man wall, Fearless is the only album where the title is written backwards.

Fearless TV was the first TV released, so could the reason for it being written backwards on The Man wall connect to The Manuscript, and the lyrics that I can’t stop quoting in my posts?
And the years passed
Like scenes of a show
The Professor said to write what you know
Lookin' backwards
Might be the only way to move forward
The OG Fearless Prologue
There are ✌🏻parts I want to highlight:
About Scott B:
Scott Borchetta, thank you for believing in me since I was 14 and still trying to straighten my hair
About Scott S:
Dad, thank you for helping sell t-shirts and playing the role of “proud dad” 24/7
Fearless TV Prelude
The capital letters spell out April ninth - the release date for Fearless TV
Those reasons seem unnecessary now. I've decided I want you to have the whole story, see the entire vivid picture, and let you into the entire dreamscape that is my Fearless album.
My interpretation here is that the highlighted part is her thesis statement for the entire rerelease journey. Which will culminate not just with Taylor owning her masters again, but also coming out.
Fun facts
As always these "fun facts" could mean nothing, but I find them potentially intriguing.
  1. When I first started making connections between Speak Now and Midnights, I looked up the tour dates for the original Fearless tour. Taylor wrote Speak Now while on the Fearless tour. She played a show on April 28, 2009 and a show on April 30, 2009. She did not play a show on April 29th.
  2. At present, Speak Now is the only rerecord that was released in the same order number as the OG version. Reputation has the potential for this as well so we will have to wait and see what happens.
I have already started working on Part 1 of my Speak Now deep dive. I am excited to finally start sharing in more detail why I think that album is vital to understanding Taylor’s story and journey.

2024.05.31 19:34 captainknight71 How to get update on clearance process/who to contact?

I just want to get some insight on if my process/timeline is normal.
Timeline:
(2/8/24) Applied to 3-letter agency
(2/29/24) Received COE
(3/5/24) Submitted SF-86
(4/10-11/24) Completed health exam, polygraph, and psychological evaluation.
The reason for my concern is because from what I've been told throughout the process, as well as hearing from other people I know that have gone through the same process, my timeline seems to be a little bit backwards, having completed the health, polygraph, and psych eval BEFORE being contacted by and meeting with a background investigator. I also met with an HR person during the days that I completed the exams to further discuss the job and benefits, etc. and I got asked if I had met with my BI yet, and when I mentioned that I hadn't, their response was "Oh, then they should be reaching out to you very, very soon."
The only other odd thing was after I initially submitted my SF-86, I was contacted via phone to go over and confirm most of what I submitted, and the person confirming my information had asked if I wanted to wait until multiple of my references and I were done with school and were back home until my investigation process was started. I said no to waiting, though I feel there is a possibility they decided to wait anyway.
So, I want to know if this process sounds normal and I should just wait to be contacted for the next steps, or if I should contact somebody to either check on the status of my process or let them know that I am not at school anymore to get the background investigation started.

2024.05.31 15:12 Tentansub Is Zionism a colonial movement?

Zionists will often try to describe their movement as a quest for self-determination and statehood for the Jewish people in Palestine. They will vehemently deny that Zionism is a form of colonialism, invoking all kinds of arguments. I thought it would be interesting to see what early Zionist leaders had to say about Zionist being a colonial movement or not. I researched primary sources from pretty much all the major early Zionist figures I could find to see what they had to say.
Moses Montefiore (1784 – 1885) was a British financier and banker, activist, philanthropist and Sheriff of London and one the early Zionist thinkers. He said during an interview in the 1860s that :
Palestine must belong to the Jews, and Jerusalem is destined to become the seat of a Jewish Empire.
Moses Hess (1812 – 1875) was one of the early Zionist thinkers. In his 1862 book “Rome and Jerusalem: The Last National Question”, Hess advocates for the colonization of Palestine and the foundation of a Jewish Colonization Association.
Leon Pinsker (1821-1891) was one of the early Zionist activists. In his 1882 Pamphlet “Auto-Emancipation”, he was advocating for the creation of a Jewish colony in Palestine as a solution to anti-semitism in Europe :
If the experts find in favor of Palestine or Syria, this decision would not be based on the assumption that the country could be transformed in time by labor and industry into a quite productive one.[...] This change cannot be brought about by the civil emancipation of the Jews in this or that state, but only by the auto-emancipation of the Jewish people as a nation, the foundation of a colonial community belonging to the Jews, which is some day to become our inalienable home, our country.
The three thinkers that I mentioned are often considered to be “proto-Zionists’ who inspired Theodore Herzl (1860 – 1904), considered to be the founding father of the ideology of political Zionism.
Theodore Herzl wrote in his 1896 pamphlet “The Jewish State" :
The Jewish Company is partly modeled on the lines of a great land-acquisition company. It might be called a Jewish Chartered Company, though it cannot exercise sovereign power, and has other than purely colonial tasks.
Herzl wrote to the British Secretary of State for the Colonies, Joseph Chamberlain, and asked for his support for this colonial project :
The undertaking will be made great and promising by the granting of colonial rights. This is tremendous attraction for the outlawed, enfeebled and unfortunate Jewish people.
(Source : the Complete Diaries of Theodor Herzl, volume 4, p 1336)
He also wrote to Cecil Rhodes, yet another important figure of British colonization, who was responsible for the colonization of South Africa, Rhodesia and many others, during which countless indigenous people were killed and subjugated:
You are being invited to make history. That cannot frighten you, nor will you laugh at it. It is not in your accustomed line, it doesn't involve Africa, but a piece of Asia Minor, not English, but Jews. [...] How, then, do I happen to turn to you? Because it is something colonial.
(Source : the Complete Diaries of Theodor Herzl, volume 3, p 1194) Max Nordau (1849 – 1923) was Zionist leader and co-founder of the World Zionist Organization with Theodor Herzl. Like Herzl, he was against “illegal immigration” to Ottoman Palestine and in favor of obtaining the rights to legally colonize Palestine. He wrote in “Zionism and antisemitism” in 1905 :
"Zionism rejects on principle all colonization on a small scale, and the idea of "sneaking" into Palestine. The Zionists have therefore devoted themselves preëminently to a zealous and tireless advocacy of the uniting of the already existing Jewish colonies in Palestine with those who until now have given them their aid and who of late have inclined towards the withdrawal of their support from them." For the moment the committee of action is trying to obtain from Turkey a charter for the colonization of such land in Palestine as can be disposed of, and which at present is lying waste, and for the opening of its neglected resources.
Menachem Ussishkin (1863 – 1941) was a Russian-born Zionist leader and head of the Jewish National Fund. He was one of the founders of the “Labour Zionist” faction of Zionism. He was opposed to Herzl during the “Uganda scheme” debates during which Herzl suggested creating a Zionist colony in what is now Kenya. In 1905, he published the pamphlet “Our Program”, in which he advocates for purchasing lands, moving to Palestine, creating settlements, and educational and organizational work among the people. Much like Herzl, he was not afraid of describing this undertaking as “colonial”. Chapter 8 of Our Program is called ”The colonization of the country (Palestine) by Jewish Farmers and Artisans”. On page 27 of the same pamphlet, he writes :
This is the condition of the Labor Problem in Palestine. Among many thousand Arabs there are only a few Jewish laborers. That is in the broadest sense of the word a sore spot in our colonisation.
Ber Borochov (1881 - 1917), one of the founders of the Labor Zionist movement, wrote in 1906 the manifesto of the movement “Our Platform” in which he writes :
Jewish migration must be transformed from immigration into colonization. This means a territorial solution of the Jewish problem [..]
Nahum Sokolow (1859 – 17 May 1936) was the Secretary General of the World Zionist Organization between 1907-1909 and its president between 1931-1935. In History of Zionism, volume 1, published in 1919, he writes :
Zionists want a commonwealth of Jewish colonization and labour, a settlement of Jewish pioneers and workers who will be able to create and to develop a civilization of their own, undisturbed by any restrictions. This is possible only in Palestine, and is the paramount necessity of the whole Jewish people all over the world.
David Wolffsohn (1855 - 1914) was the President of the World Zionist Organization between 1905-1911. In a June 30th, 1896 letter to Max Nordau, he writes :
Our discussion related only to the newspaper reports and I found everywhere the fear that the founding of a Society of Jews could perhaps harm the colonisation of Palestine. The previous activities of the German Zionists consisted and still consist of practical support for the colonisation of Palestine. Ten years of painstaking work lie behind us and only today are the colonies beginning to bear fruit.
Otto Warburg (1859 – 1938) was a botanist and the President of the World Zionist Organization between 1911-1921. After his death in 1938, an obituary in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency described his contribution to the Zionist cause:
He became interested in Zionism in the early days of the movement, and was one of the heads of the Palestine Commission appointed by the Sixth Zionist Congress. However, he had little taste for “diplomatic Zionism” and devoted himself largely to “practical Zionism,” or colonization work in Palestine.
Franz Oppenheimer (1864-1943) was a prominent German sociologist, economist and Zionist activist. On 26 August 1903, he gave an address at the sixth Zionist Congress in Basel dubbed “A First Program for Zionist Colonization”. In his speech, he argues for Zionist colonization of Palestine through the creation of agricultural settlements for Jews.
Vladimir Jabotinsky (1880 – 1940), another important Zionist leader who came a generation after Herzl and Ussishkin, wrote in his 1923 essay "The Iron Wall" :
It is utterly impossible to obtain the voluntary consent of the Palestine Arabs for converting "Palestine" from an Arab country into a country with a Jewish majority. My readers have a general idea of the history of colonisation in other countries. I suggest that they consider all the precedents with which they are acquainted, and see whether there is one solitary instance of any colonisation being carried on with the consent of the native population. There is no such precedent. The native populations, civilised or uncivilised, have always stubbornly resisted the colonists, irrespective of whether they were civilised or savage
Israel Langwill (1864 1926) was a close associate of Theodore Herzl. Langwill later rejected the plan to colonize Palestine and called for Jewish colonization elsewhere, since he believed there weren’t enough resources in Palestine to host all 16 million Jews who lived in the world at the time. During a speech at the Carnegie Hall on October 13th, 1923, he said :
Political Zionism is dead [...] Too late the Carlsbad conference has voted its protest that not even the State lands and waste lands mentioned in the mandate have been allotted to the Zionists. Indeed, a colonization without a territorial charter, in which the land has to be bought literally by the square yard and every purchase puts up the price of land against yourself, iis a monstrosity unknown to history.
Arthur Ruppin (1876 – 1943), Zionist leader, one of the founders of Tel Aviv, wrote in 1929 in Buying the Emek (Jezreel Valley) :
The acquisition of the Emek Yizael for Jewish colonization has been the object of Jewish efforts for many years. It was natural that this region, the largest fertile plain of Palestine, should have aroused the interest of the Jewish colonization societies at the very beginning.
David Ben Gurion (1886 – 1973) was the head of the Jewish Agency (operative branch of the World Zionist Organization) and later first Prime Minister of Israel. In a 1937 letter to his son Amos, reacting to the Peel Commission Report, he wrote :
Palestine is grossly under populated. It contains vast colonization potential which the Arabs neither need nor are qualified (because of their lack of need) to exploit. There is no Arab immigration problem. There is no Arab exile. Arabs are not persecuted. They have a homeland, and it is vast.
Joseph Weitz (1890–1972) was the head of the Jewish Agency's Colonization Department, which was tasked with acquiring land for the Zionist enterprise in Palestine, wrote in 1938 :
“Between ourselves it must be clear that there is no room for both peoples together in this country. We shall not achieve our goal if the Arabs are in this small country. There is no other way than to transfer the Arabs from here to neighboring countries — all of them. Not one village, not one tribe should be left.” (Quoted from A History of the Concept of "Transfer" in Zionism by Israel Shahak )
Cham Weizmann (1874 – 1952) was a Zionist leader who served as president of the Zionist Organization between 1921–1931 and 1935–1946 and later as the first president of Israel. During a hearing on 8 July 1947 at 9 AM for the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP), he said :
Other peoples have colonized great countries, rich countries. They found when they entered there backward populations. And they did for the backward populations what they did. I am not a historian, and I am not sitting in judgment on the colonizing activity of the various great nations which have colonized backward regions. But I would like to say that, as compared with the result of the colonizing activities of other peoples, our impact on the Arabs has not produced very much worse results than what has been produced by others in other countries.
Zionists founded organizations which they openy called colonial, like the Jewish Colonization Association in 1891 or the Jewish Colonial Trust in 1902 .
I have cited numerous primary sources from all the important Zionist leaders between the 1860s and the 1930s, they all openly said that they were colonizers, because at the time it was seen as something positive, rightfully undertaken by the strong for their own benefit. Despite overwhelming evidence Zionists today deny it because public opinion in general has turned on colonialism.

2024.05.31 12:55 grappleandpop Einstein Syndrome?

Hi there, Sorry in advance for formatting, I'm on mobile.
I am an autistic Mother, with an autistic son. I live in New Zealand, and I'm currently feeling extremely alone in my experience not only as an autistic adult woman but also as somebody who has a child with autism. I need some help or advice or anybody who could possibly relate to please comment on this.
My son is 3 years old. He has a severe speech delay but isn't non-verbal. None of his speech is conversational, it all is centered around his interests. Him and I are very in sync, it's like I can read his mind, but still I have no idea whether he currently has social skills of any kind. However, his intelligence is unlike anything I, or any of the professionals currently involved with him have ever seen. He is only recently 3, and about a year ago we noticed he was rapidly teaching himself how to read by using his interest in the alphabet and phonics, (which he mastered a little before his second birthday). So now at 3 he can basically read anything at a fairly low level, but won't follow instruction to do so, nor show an interest in sharing this ability. He just picks up a book and reads it aloud. As well as this, he knows the ABCs so unbelievably well that he can recite them forwards, and backwards with ease; I have also seen him lining up the entire alphabet excluding every 2nd or 3rd letter etc. Whichever pattern he enjoys that might mix things up a bit in his brain. He can also spell words by using his alphabet blocks. As well as his literacy, he can also count to 200+ and backwards from 200 exactly. Same thing as the letters, he creates and recognizes more and more challenging patterns in the numbers also. Other interests of his have included instruments, fruits, vegetables, colours. When he's interested in something he learns everything about it, he can name instruments and fruits that I've never even heard of.
Even with all of this seemingly superhuman intelligence, he doesn't talk to us at all, he doesn't wave hello or goodbye. He doesn't understand questions or instructions. It's genuinely like he has the intelligence of a 6 or 7 year old but the communication level of a (maybe) 1 year old.
When I've googled different things pertaining to this situation, it's frequently come up with the term "Einstein Syndrome" but I can't seem to find any clinical research or studies to back this up. There doesn't even seem to be solid diagnostic criteria or anything so I'm not sure if this is potentially a pseudo-science term or what. Is that a real thing? Can anybody shed light on this?
What do I do? Has anybody heard of this? Has anybody experienced it? Is there a term for it I'm missing? I'm so worried that I'm doing all the wrong things to support him or that I'm not doing enough. Please help me.

2024.05.31 06:07 J-Robert-Fox [Spoilers Extended] Reopenign the Catspaw Debate

EDIT: A FUCKING TYPO IN THE TITLE GODDAMNIT
As we're all well aware, the Catspaw is a bit of a sour point for us lot of obsessives. The Catspaw is set up in AGOT as a minor mystery and isnt resolved and is then thinly pinned on an unsatisfying, even almost nonsensical perp in ASOS after not being touched at all in ACOK.
I'm gonna keep this short, or as short as I can. Brevity is a skill I never learned. But I'm just going to present my case for Littlefinger and be on my way. Then I'll present what's really my main contention here: George and the future of ASOIAF.
(I dont wanna hear a goddamned word about "Well we'll never know anyway since he's not gonna finish!" Go shit in the ocean.)
Yeah no that didnt end up really happening. This is a bit rambly, fair warning.
_________________________________________

The Case for Littlefinger

_________________________________________
Here's the meat of my tangible, in-canon arguement. I would argue that it was certainly possible for Littlefinger to pull off orchestrating the Catspaw's attempted assassination of Bran which is mindbogglingly one of the anti-Littlefinger pieces of evidence mosts the posts I read on this treat as gospel.

Prelimary Information

According to a quick google search, a raven can fly up to 25 miles per hour and something around 100 miles per day. According to a second quick google search the only people asking the internet how long a raven can fly without stopping are others like me working out ASOIAF theories. According to somebody on the Wiki of Ice and Fire a raven could bang out 500 miles in a day if it were only a one day flight and more like 250 per day on a longer flight so the raven has time to shit shower and shave.
According to pretty much every source I can find between reddit and the Wiki of Ice and Fire, King's Landing and Winterfell are between 1400 and 1500 miles apart by land. Eyeballing it I decided that the right triangle you could make off a straight line between Winterfell and King's Landing comes to something around side A being 6x the length of side B.
Based on 1500 miles and applying the Pythagorean theorem King's Landing and Winterfell are something like 1200 miles apart as the crow flies. In this case the raven.
Based on 100 miles a day that would be 24 days it would take a raven to get from Winterfell to King's Landing and back. Based on the 250 miles a day estimate it would take just about 10 days to make it both ways.
The timeline as we are given it in AGOT is:

Timeline

While my math and estimates are not science, neither is ASOIAF. Science and scale are a huge blindspot for George. His maps do not agree with the distances his characters name for things in the books. The Wall is purportedly 300 miles long but if you use that as a guide none of the other distances between two places given numbers in the books agree with the Wall scale for Westeros. So I think I'm being fair by erring on the side of my theory being wrong in my estimates (like how I'm working off my own math for 1500 miles between King's Landing and Winterfell when it would help my case to go with 1400 miles and evenhanded to go with 1450). So let's not get bogged down too much in the numbers and remember that George doesnt either when you all come for my head.
So. It seems to me that it is far from infeesible that Littlefinger could have orchestrated the Catspaw attack. Based on the 100 mile estimate for a raven's daily travel Littlefinger would only miss the deadline to be responsible for the Catspaw by 2 days.
On the day Bran falls, somebody sends a raven to Littlefinger:
Dawg, Ned and Catelyn's son fell from a tower this morning. Broke his back and shit. Kid's in a coma. Some sad shit.
12 days later Robert and co. are 2 days from leaving Winterfell when Littlefinger recieves the telegram and promply responds:
STEAL A DAGGER FROM ROBERT AND CUT HIS THROAT LOL
Which then arrives in Winterfell another 12 days later. Robert's party has been gone 10 days. Two days prior Catelyn was attacked by the Catspaw.
Accounting for spillage I think a margin of error of 2 days is far from infeesible. But that timeline assumes only 100 miles per day for a Raven. At 250 miles per day we have:
In fact all of this could happen a bit quicker. 5 days is rounded up from 4.8 days. Just to make sure everyone is aware I'm sticking to the numbers that make my arguement more difficult rather than easier.
Clearly, 12 days is more than ample time for Littlefinger's agent in Winterfell to find a suitable candidate and make the arrangements.
Which brings me to my next point:

Logistics

Another one of the most commonly cited points against Littlefinger hiring the Catspaw is that Littlefinger does not, could not, or would not have agents in Winterfell.
Assuming that that is true it is a nonfactor. Even if, and a big fuckin if that one, even if Littlefinger has spies only in King's Landing that does not rule out him having one in Winterfell at the time in story during which the Catspaw was hired.
Littlefinger has been plotting and moving for some time now to pit House Stark against House Lannister. This is known. Jon Arryn's death was Littlefinger through Lysa and that's what prompted Robert to go to King's Landing in the first place. It is my contention that it is not only feesible that Littlefinger would have made sure to send agents to Winterfell with Robert but that it would be silly to think he wouldnt have.
There are two possible outcomes: nothing interesting happens in Winterfell and the reports come back stating the obvious, Ned is named Hand and will be returning with Robert and bringing along his daughters and a son or two and hopefully Catelyn, or something of note does happen and Littlefinger is poised to take advantage.
What reason would he have not to send anybody? The only one I can even imagine is that if Robert found out Littlefinger had spies he would not like that. But that doesnt hold water for two reasons. First: Robert probably assumes Littlefinger and anybody else on his council barring maybe Renly--but probably not even Renly--keeps spies. Second: This line of reasoning would stop Littlefinger from doing goddamn near a single fuckin action he takes in the entire story.
Typed an unfortunately obscene amount on this before remembering that the letter Cat recieves from Lysa is left for Luwin in a trick box for a Myrish lens. Littlefinger undoubtedly had at least one agent in Winterfell at the time Bran fell. Luwin even says himself he suspects it was somebody in the king's party who left it for him.
But beyond that, Littlefinger is at this point in the story balls deep into manipulating houses Stark and Lannister into going to war with one another. Why would he not keep agents in Winterfell? There's also the question as to why he wouldnt keep agents in every major castle and city from Winterfell to Oldtown but we dont even need to worry about that one. Littlefinger would benefit greatly from eyes and ears in Winterfell. And Littlefinger is pretty good about treating himself to things that are good for him.
Whether or not Littlefinger keeps agents on retainer in Winterfell or only sent one (or more) with the king's party, he did have somebody acting on his behalf premeditatedly in Winterfell at the time he'd have needed one to hire the Catspaw.
Now, there's also the questions of the dagger and the silver.
The dagger is easy. Littlefinger could have had agents in the king's party. Who's to say one wasnt the armorer or somebody who could have gotten into the armory? Not you nor I. And why a dagger from the king's armory? If you need that answered I think I did elsewhere but also there are a hundred thousand posts on this sub that answer it as well. The dagger points the Starks to suspicion that the Catspaw was hired by somebody in the king's party and to the notion that somebody in the king's party must have reason to want Bran dead, IE somebody in the king's party crippled the little (soon to be) freak.
The silver is less easy but far from difficult.
Think about the logistics (Leo pointing in OUATIH) of operating a spy ring like Littlefinger and Varys do. There has to be incentive for the spies not to rat him out if they get caught and not to doublecross him by going to some other lord or lady or septon who wants to play the game of thrones and spilling his beans for a second pay day. But is that enough? I'd say no.
Varys, who fuckin knows what he's got going on. He hires little kids to kill hands of kings. Maybe he's got a van full of candy. Lemoncakes. I dunno. And neither do you. And neither does Alt Shift X. Probably neither did George when he wrote the scene.
But Littlefinger? Master of Coin probably pays his spies in coin, as we've established. But how many spies does he have and how much can he afford to pay them? And how can he manage to keep them all so well paid they dont fuck his shit up? Not even one?
Pyramid scheme, baby. Let's say he's got 3 top dawgs. Stringer, Weebey, and Stinkum. Badger, Skinny Pete, and Combo. Silvio, Paulie, and Big Pussy. Balerion, Vhagar, and Maraxes. Edgar, Allen, and Poe. What have you. He splits his total spy budget between the three of them and from there would only have to meet with three spies who know his face and his name. He gives the instructions and they take care of it. They hire further spies who probably hire further spies and the instructions go down the line while the information comes up it.
The main issue people take with the "90 silver stags" is that it's supposedly not very much money. Maybe true. The value of the currency is a lot like the geography in ASOIAF. It isnt very consistent. But it doesnt even matter. The Catspaw was an outside Winterfell hire who slept in the stables for who knows how long and was willing to murder a child for money at all. No matter the upfront sum, is it not a fairly safe assumption to say that this man was maybe not the most financially responsible guy in Westeros? Maybe he was fronted 500 and blew the first 410 on drinking and whores before the day he was instructed to do the deed. I dunno. And neither do you! My point isnt to say This Is What Happened but only to say the realms of possibility far outnumber the usual estimates for them when discussing the Catspaw.
One last logicstical point: Ravens. This is the most difficult aspect but again it is feesible.
Ravens are trained to fly to one place. The maesters keep ravens that, once released, will go to one unique location of import. This is known. They also shit and eat and sometimes cryptically foreshadow coming events. A little hard to manage, especially for a spy if that spy is, say, the armorer or the cook or a knight. Cant hide one in your coat and wait for a reason to tie a text message to his foot and let her rip.
But it is mentioned over and over just how big Robert's party was and not only that but how much it grew. I dont think it's impossible for an agent of Littlefinger's to have kept some ravens somewhere to send messages to King's Landing.
Not only that, but I dont see it as infeesible in the least that Littlefinger had ravens trained not for places like Winterfell or Oldtown but for places just outside Winterfell or Oldtown. Somewhere in the town outside the walls (where perhaps an agent of an agent of an agent might live not evening knowing for whom his agent was an agent or that that agent even had a further agency of hire!) or a shack in the woods. The Catspaw wasnt even found in Winterfell's own stable because of the chaos of Robert's party. Would anyone notice some ravens coming and going that werent Luwin's or whoever in the king's party kept some ravens to send communications while on the journey? (Who, of course, could have been Littlefinger's agent all along (or Littlefinger's agent's agent)).

Littlefinger Catspaw Play-by-Play

This is only one of many possible ways this could have worked and the purpose is demonstrate that with no suspension of disbelief and little to no bending of the canon (as discussed earlier so I wont retread timetables and such).
  1. Littlefinger has Lysa kill Jon Arryn knowing Robert will probably replace him with Ned.
  2. Robert declares his trip to Winterfell. Littlefinger sends along one of his trusted, face to face agents either with some extra cash just in case or with the knowledge that the agent already carries around a fuckton of Littlefinger petty cash with which to hire spies and agents should the need arise. This agent may or may not send along to Littlefinger or go between ravenkeepers regular reports on developments and goings on in the king's party. The agent has with him the message for Cat from Lysa.
  3. Three weeks after Robert's arrival Bran falls from a tower and this is reported to Littlefinger who sees an opportunity. Littlefinger sends back, maybe to a shack outside Winterfell or perhaps to the Vale and then to the shack or even to Luwin himself a letter purportedly not from Littlefinger to some buerocrat in the king's party who is unbeknownst to anyone his agent, his instructions: Steal a dagger from the king's party's armory and hire some lowborn nobody to kill Bran at least a week after the king's party leaves. Make sure no harm comes to Cat. Make sure that no matter who this person is that they will not be able to trace it back to you and thus to me.
  4. Sometime between recieving his instructions and the Catspaw attempting the deed Littlefinger's agent finds a suitable candidate, probably a drunkard. He likely approaches in some way that will obfuscate his identity. Wears a clock, fakes an Essosi accent, whatever. Doesnt matter. He arms the Catspaw with a dagger stolen from Robert's armory.
  5. The king's party has left and the Catspaw waits a few days, as instructed, before starting a fire in the library, probably as instructed but at least he was instructed to create a diversion that would draw Cat away from Bran. This is why she wasnt s'posed to be there. The assassination attempt fails and the Catspaw is killed by the Wolfstooth. The plan, seemingly, has failed.
  6. Cat comes to King's Landing to inform Ned and uses Littlefinger's help to come in and out of the city unseen. The plan evolves with the situation. Tyrion is still up north so he pins the hiring of the Catspaw on Tyrion so that Ned doesnt lose his cool and get himself killed before the seeds of war are properly sown. He sends Cat on her way and has endeared himself to Ned.
From there the Catspaw plot has served its puroses to Littlefinger and helped him a great deal and none of that stretches the imagination or the canon.

But why?

Well, first of all: why not?
But amazingly one of the most oft cited arguements I see is that Littlefinger wouldnt want to cause Cat any pain or hurt her children because he just loves her so much.
I'm not gonna go deep into this because the reasoning is just dumb on its face. Yes, Littlefinger has a lifelong crush on Cat. He doesnt want her killed partially for that reason and partially, probably, because Bran is the target and killing a thirdborn son is not killing the lady wife of the Warden of the North. Bran dying stirs the pot. Cat dying starts the war prematurely. Plus, Robert is still king. Littlefinger didnt kill Robert but he was probably well aware his master plan doesnt work when the king is sympathetic to the queen's family's enemies. And thankfully the king's heir is a criminally insane shitheeled twerp.
But could Littlefinger really give a fuck about Bran? Why would he and why should he? Who knows what his endgame is but if it involves becoming Catelyn Tully's second husband (which, of course, means husband number one dies, causing her pain) then Catelyn Tully having a bunch of Stark kids running around, especially one named for the man who gave him his villain origin story, doesnt seem ideal. Sure, he'll keep Sansa around since she's just Cat 2.0 but I see nothing in Littlefinger's character that would give any reasonable person among us reason to think he'd be hesitant to order the death of one of her children.
As mentioned in passing a moment ago, the idea that Littlefinger would have qualms about causing Catelyn pain doesnt quite line up with a single fuckin thing he does over the course of the entire goddamn story.
Also worth mentioning that, like many have pointed out, Littlefinger's love for Cat is probably greatly exaggerated by fans and probably by Littlefinger himself, even to himself. I dont recall a scene where he reacts to the news of her death but we see a good deal of him after her death and he doesnt seem all that broken up to me.
The why is simple: Bran's fall and coma present an opportunity to deepen the animosity between Stark and Lannister. If Bran were to be killed before he woke from his coma and told the truth of what happened, whatever that may be, and killed with a dagger that can be directly tied to the Lannisters, the Starks would immediately and reasonably suspect and possibly publicly accuse the Lannisters of ordering the murder of a highborn child. It's really very simple.
I think what causes a lot of the brainfog around this is the lie about the dagger. By pinning the dagger on Tyrion and Tyrion then coincidentally running into Catelyn in the Riverlands the idea that Littlefinger also got equally as lucky hiring the Catspaw and the Catspaw dying before he could be questioned sharply makes him look too lucky for it to be feesible. But the only stroke of luck is the Crossroads Inn.
The Catspaw was an unbelievable gamble for whoever hired him assuming whoever hired him could be found out. But Littlefinger wouldnt have been even if the Catspaw had killed Bran and been taken captive. Even if you dont buy my far more indepth than necessary model of Littlefinger's network of spies you cant say that the Catspaw knew who Littlefinger was or that whoever hired the Catspaw would have been dumb enough to say "Oh, and if anyone tortures you to find out who I am, I'm nobody but my boss is the king's Master of Coin :)" and so the Catspaw's death was actually very very bad for Littlefinger and he was saved, really, by Jaime and Cersei's plot armor. If Bran had remembered that Jaime had pushed him from the tower and told the world when he woke it would have been found out eventually that Jaime and Cersei did not hire the Catspaw and Robert would have been eager to help Ned find out who did. But Bran remembering the things Jaime does for love would have sped the plot along too quickly and so Littlefinger inadvertantly dodged the potential backlash of what turned out to be a fuckup.
And as for Robert's dagger that Littlefinger pinned on Tyrion and thus walked backwards into a stroke of luck that could only happen in fiction, I explained briefly earlier that there's good reason for Littlefinger to pick Tyrion as the Lannister to frame without knowing that Catelyn and Tyrion would run into one another not long later. Tyrion is the least powerful Lannister and the only Lannister that did not return to King's Landing with the rest of Robert's party. It's a double whammy: Robert still being alive makes a Lannister vs. Stark war much less opportune and Tyrion remaining in the North after Robert's party left also makes him look like the most likely Lannister to have hired the Catspaw who didnt show up to kill Brain until Cersei and Jaime had been gone eight days. It had to be one of the three and if you think about it for a minute, knowing what Littlefinger knew at that time, Tyrion is the perfect patsy. The Cold War he's been brewing can stay cold because Tyrion isnt around to defend himself and looks more guilty than the other two options.
That's very linear, sheriff.

But what about George?

_________________________________________
Jesus motherfuckingfucking Christ I have been typing this way too long. Initially this was going to be half my post but I dont even remember all the grand points I was gonna make about George.
Basically: I think George probably wrote AGOT with Littlefinger in mind as the person who arranged for the Catspaw and then changed his mind either because fans were onto him or because he decided that Littlefinger had gotten away with too much too soon and wanted to pull him back down to earth a bit, or maybe both.
But before everybody jumps down my throat with this:
You should know that even after all this time, we're still debating things like who was behind the assassination attempt on Bran. Not to mention trying to figure out the four weddings, four trials, and two funeral.
The problem with all this speculating is that some of you are bound to guess the answers before I reveal 'em... and others may even come up with better answers than I do. Well, those are the risks one takes with such a project.
I will tell you that ASOS will resolve the question of Bran and the dagger, and also that of Jon Arryn's killer. Some other questions will not be resolved... and hopefully I will give you a few new puzzles to worry at.
As we all know, George is a gardener and not an architect. And they fly now? And he was gay, Gary Cooper? And words are wind? He's right behind me, isnt he?
Sure, maybe as of 2000 George had decided on Joffrey (or maybe Mance Rayder if you're into that sorta thing) but I see absolutely no reason this may not change. It's certain that Littlefinger could have pulled it off, almost certain he would have if he'd the inclination, and very easy to come to the conclusion Littlefinger was the culprit George had in mind when he wrote AGOT. I think we all ought to be ready for the possibility George retcons his retcon and doubles down on the person who makes the most sense because the book was written with him in mind: Petyr Baelish.

2024.05.31 04:28 Upwithstock Todays' (May 30th) Investors call

Dear Longs,
As you know, I try to write or explain things from my 33 years of Medical Device experience. But sometimes, experience does not always explain things. Before the CC today, I thought I understood what the call could be about today. My expectations were raised because the investor letter sent out 14 days ago; highlighted the growing demand to partner with CYDY. I don't mean, an investigator-led study of 20 patients. I mean, a BP partner who wants to hand over $100 -$250 million upfront payment to work with CYDY on CRC or any of the other potential indications that are "provocative". That did not happen on this call.
OK! My expectations were not met. I do have to ask: What was the purpose of the CC today, only 14 days after the Investor letter was sent out? Essentially some of the pearls that came out today could have been brought out in June, July, August, or in the same investor letter from 14 days ago; so why the need to host a call only 14 days after a very informative and positive investment letter? IMO, it is between two possibilities: 1) This was a widespread call for investors to help fund the CRC study and/or the Inflammation study 2) This Investor letter and Conference call content was geared to grease the wheels for a request to have shareholders authorize more shares.
What my experience does tell me is that the science is there from our own "provocative data" to the cornucopia of CCR5 articles. My experience tells me that the new management team in place is the right team to move forward.
What I have not been able to figure out yet is how far away are we from a non-dilutive funding event. I thought before this call that we were close to officially announcing a non-dilutive event. Like I said, it did not happen and that is on me. But, I can truly say that we might not be as close as I thought but we are not moving backward either. To use a Football analogy: We have possession of the ball and CYDY just got a first down (we have four more downs to get another first down) and we are getting closer to the Red Zone (scoring position).
Everything is moving in the right direction and I am HIGHLY confident that LL and Long Acting LL is the PHENOMINAL Drug that we all think it is. I just thought we would have the BP partner to help us with first downs and crossing the regulatory finish line for a touchdown.
So back to my experience for a moment. Even with all of the AI development software, all of these CCR5 articles, and our "provocative data"; Pharma companies have a penchant for wanting more evidence, especially Human phase 2 and or phase 3 data. My theoretical question to the universe/CYDY is: what is our overall strategy as a Company? In the past, we heard that CYDY was told to run a pre-clinical trial in MASH to get a partner. Madrigal was even mentioned in a private investor call that everybody eventually heard. So now we are finally moving forward with a mice study with Madrigal's drug in combo with LL. Is MASH back on the table? after all, Madrigal has competitors like Viking getting closer to their Regulatory finish line. Is this the start of multiple partnership strategies? If it is; I prefer it to start this way. Multiple partners doing well with LL can have bidding war written all over it later on.
We have Madrigal at least looking at working with us in the pre-clinical stage. Kudo's to Madrigal. What about the human phase 2 CRC trial? What I thought I heard today is that CYDY is looking to fund that study. That tells me that we don't have a partner, yet. Maybe we are still looking, maybe we are in discussions, maybe, maybe! If we do not hear from CYDY by mid-September about authorizing more shares, that will tell me that they issued enough private shares to pay for the CRC trial on its own or we will have announced a partner by then to initiate the trial. As you all can tell, I am hoping for a partner.
During those 33 years in medical devices; 15 years were with start-up companies, and FUNDING was KEY. Even though CYDY is a developmental drug company it functions much the same way as a start-up. Funding is critical. We have three non-dilutive elements available to CYDY: 1) BP partners that pay upfront to work with CYDY 2) Amarex Settlement 3) Grants from NIH, BARDA, and non-profit foundations.
There is another element that I'll mention briefly and it is the boot-strap way to operate, which is exactly what CYDY has been doing lately. It sounded like the LATCH study will be moving forward through a non-profit HIV group. They will fund the majority of the costs associated with the LATCH study and hopefully, CYDY will have enough funds to have the NEW Manufacturer make the Long Acting version of LL to conduct this study. Thats right! Who is making the long-acting version for us? IDK, More questions than answers right now.
Back to the football analogy: IMO, where we are at today is: We have the football, we are running to the right on first down, then running to the left on second down, and then running up the middle on third down, and because we are short of a first down by a half of a yard, so on fourth down we quarterback sneak for a first down. The good news is we still have the ball and we get another four downs to get another first down. Once CYDY lands just one non-dilutive event, we can start throwing the ball and gaining more yards and then move quicker into scoring position. The ultimate goal is to score a regulatory touchdown by getting LL approved for an indication. Along the way to that touchdown, CYDY can achieve first downs, move the chains, and score field goals with non-dilutive funding all day.
CYDY has not turned the ball over and we have possession of the football and CYDY is still moving forward yard by yard, first down by first down.
