Focus: Race for Europe's first 'real-time' stock trade tape heats up
LONDON, May 7 (Reuters) - Banks and asset managers are vying with Europe’s exchanges to develop technology that can deepen the pool of investors in the continent’s capital markets and better compete with Wall Street. The United States has long had a 'consolidated tape' aggregating stock and bond prices from competing trading platforms for investors to spot the best deals, and the European Union and Britain seek to match this over the coming three years. "The purpose of the tape is to democratise access to market data and to make sure that everybody is seeing the full breadth and depth of the market," said Natan Tiefenbrun, president of North American and European equities at Cboe Global Markets, a pan-European stock exchange. The current "messy" and fragmented system for market data discourages investors, Tiefenbrun added. EU securities watchdog ESMA said it will consult before the end of May on its criteria for selecting winning bidders to run a tape for bonds initially, and then one for stocks. The two contenders that have emerged so far to run an EU stocks tape highlight the tensions between exchanges and banks and asset managers over the price of market data. Exchanges had opposed a tape in order to guard their lucrative data, while asset managers and banks say there would be no data without their trades. To bring exchanges on board, the EU has mandated exchange contributions to a tape. EuroCTP , opens new tab, backed by 14 exchanges including Deutsche Boerse (DB1Gn.DE), opens new tab and Euronext (ENX.PA) , opens new tab, is moving early by investing millions of euros to start building a stocks tape now, before any regulatory nod. A little further behind, French consultancy Adamantia launched a feasibility study , opens new tab for a stocks tape in 2021, with support from Barclays (BARC.L), opens new tab, BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA), opens new tab, Credit Agricole (CAGR.PA), opens new tab, Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE), opens new tab, Societe Generale (SOGN.PA), opens new tab and UniCredit (CRDI.MI), opens new tab. Adamantia said it was securing an investment plan and selecting a technology company for a tape, backed by 10 buy- and sell-side institutions. "Once we finalise this step, the objective is to form a joint-candidature ... and prepare for the upcoming ESMA tender," said Adamantia partner Antoine Pertriaux. ESMA is expected to invite bidders for a bond tape by early next year, and for a stocks tape after that. An Oliver Wyman report for European exchanges industry body FESE estimated it would cost up to 98 million euros , opens new tab ($105.09 million) to build a stocks tape, but proponents say a single real-time snapshot of prices would make cross-border trading in Europe easier and lure more investors. Only large market participants with deep pockets can typically afford to get prices from the many trading platforms dotted across the EU. In the United States, the consolidated tape electronic system has been in place for decades, overseen by the Consolidated Tape Association, a grouping of exchange participants including the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq. OPERATIONAL PHASE Britain is also making plans for its own tapes, overseen by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). "By building a more complete picture of the market, a tape will reinforce the UK’s position as a leading centre for the listing and trading of bonds," said Sarah Pritchard, FCA executive director for markets. European funds industry body EFAMA says a tape should serve market participants and in "no way be used to render European exchanges' own proprietary feeds more attractive". EuroCTP CEO Eglantine Desautel told Reuters there is a need to begin building the EU tape given it has to knit together 300 trading and trade reporting platforms across Europe. "We are moving to the operational phase right now, and in the beginning of 2025 will have the first elements for testing," Desautel said. Tiefenbrun said Cboe was potentially interested in being part of a stocks tape in the EU and one in Britain, adding there is "nervousness" over EuroCTP. "Will the shareholders of EuroCTP deliver what the industry wants or will their long-term interests be better served by a tape that protects their existing market data revenues?" EuroCTP said it will act with "full autonomy" to serve all market participants. Britain's FCA is due to set out further details on what a UK tape would look like, starting with bonds , opens new tab. The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) (LSEG.L) , opens new tab said a UK stocks tape should be limited to prices of completed transactions , opens new tab, narrower than the EU tape, which will also include indicative "pre-trade" prices. A tape "cannot be both operationally robust and low-cost", LSEG said in a paper published last month. On the bonds side, a major EU and UK contender, a troika of Bloomberg, MarketAxess and Tradeweb, threw in the towel earlier this year, citing complexity. This left Etrading Software alone for now, with CEO Sassan Danesh saying the company plans to bid for both the EU and UK bond tapes, citing its neutrality. "We are a technology company, and we are happy to make money from the technology and operations, we are not looking to make money from the data," Danesh said.

This flaw was pretty evident since jagadam itself. Heroine has no relevancy to the plot except falling in love with the hero. Their love story eats up screen time. This affected the whole movie, the story was supposed to be about how hero inspired his little brother to be just like him and romanticise violence on the lines of American history X. But all we get is a little montage at the end about it when the little brother kills that guy. Instead what we get is a 1 hr love story between hero and heroine which serves no purpose to the plot except for a few songs.
Same with nannaku prematho, hero says every minute counts and spends half of the time leisurely trying to woo the heroine. Imagine the tension in the plot as NTR's character slowly begins to get paranoid day by day as his dad is nearing death that he may not be able to fulfill his father's last wish. But the movie casually strolls through as if it doesn't matter.
Even in one nenokkadine the goa episodes are utter time waste and could have been chopped down. Even in pushpa srivalli's character serves nothing to the plot instead for a few songs. The love story eats up screen time again.
No idea why he keeps shoehorning love stories. Not only that, he spends unhealthy amount of time obsessively trying to develop it. Sukumar's main flaw is the execution I think. He fails to execute his ideas on screen and falters. He should either write more drafts of the script or hire a good editor since the beginning who keeps him in check. But seems like he shoots hours of footage and decides to cut it to 3 hrs in the editing room. Hope he makes pushpa 2 much crispier than pushpa without deviating too much from the main plot

Part of why I think DFW was so prolific was that his social observations were so timeless and they continue to reverberate today, despite our current society being radically different on the surface from the 90s and early 2000s. Most notably, his worries about alienation, 24/7 entertainment and television directly translate to our current age of endless scroll social media. Reading Up, Simba, it was cool to see that his views of McCain's 2000 campaign also reflect on today's politics of "anti-candidates" and charisma. Keep in mind I'm analyzing this as a leftie.
The basic conclusion of the essay is that American politics is ultimately about charisma and Americans wanting "anti-candidates". Americans vote based on the image filtered and fractured to us through media, and also, importantly, based on what we most desire to see in a candidate. Actual policy is secondary to party lines and this personality contest. Of course as we know, what we desire to see and what a candidate actually stands for are very different things. Americans are cynical and wise to the salesmanship of US politics, but that doesn't stop us from voting based on our human desires for a leader, but simultaneously, our need for a rebel who goes against our perceived establishment. We look at surface level qualities of people who we think inspire and fulfill our base concepts of a leader, but also satisfy our desire for an "anti-candidate" to shake up the system that's screwed us.
And what came after DFW's analysis in 2000? Obama v. McCain. Obama in 2008 was very charismatic and represented hope and change, contrasted to McCain who was the first Republican anti-candidate, as DFW wrote about. I feel like these two were like our "soft" anti-candidates.
And then what? Trump. The ultimate Republican anti-candidate. Such an obvious salesman but for cynical, disenfranchised right-wingers, the biggest middle finger to their perceived evil establishment. Against Trump, Hillary had no charisma. Bernie did, but we know what happened there.
I think today, with DFW's analysis in mind, things are particularly bleak. Voters have no clear inspiring candidate like Obama or Bernie appeared to be. Biden only won for the anti-Trump sentiment and he grows more uninspiring every day. And in the future, young voters will not inherit the wealth of US capitalism like past youth did in the 60s and 80s. It was easy for boomers to settle down, "de-radicalize" and vote for the establishment, if they could still buy a house and daily necessities and go to college. I think as material conditions worsen in the States, and our institutions grow weaker, we're going to see this idea of charisma and anti-candidates mutate in all sorts of scary ways. I wish that Americans did not vote based on surface level feelings over real policy, but DFW shows just how American it is to numb ourselves as the system continues to chew us up.
Maybe DFW's political analysis isn't so unique or special, but of course the best part about his writing is the lush and hilarious description. He has such a great way of humanizing his subjects by totally immersing us in them, showing both the funny and the tragic. As he says in the essay, he's not a political commentator, but I do think he's amazing at showing rather than telling. I'm curious to hear what y'all think.

There's only one time in the entire show when I feel any love for Livia Soprano and it's during her wake when her friend speaks up about how Li was her life-line for North Jersey old people gossip. It's very important to keep everyone apprised as to who has passed on and Olivia Soprano was an all-star in this department. CGI Livia probably most of all.

We’re both Indian but we’ve both lived in North America since our childhoods. As you might guess, it was an arranged marriage so we only met a couple of times before the wedding. He told me right away that he had just gone through a breakup with a long time girlfriend and it was the only reason he was going down the arranged marriage route. These walks became our new normal and it expanded to actual date nights, spontaneous activities, better intimacy. I feel super loved and safe with him. Everything became great - he would compliment and appreciate even the smallest things, surprise me with gifts and flowers, makes me feel beautiful but he never said “I love you” despite me saying it very often and this was nearing our first anniversary.
The night before our first anniversary, we were watching a show together and around 11:30pm, he said let’s go for a walk. He had planned this and our walk went so we reached my favorite spot in our area, a specific spot along a walking path with a beautiful view of the nearby lake, just before midnight. He apologized for how cold and distant he was in the first few months after the wedding, followed by him telling me how thankful he was to have me as his wife and appreciating my presence turned his “giant pile of bricks” (referring to the house we live in) into a place he can actually call home. At midnight (aka our anniversary), he got on one knee and slid a beautiful diamond-studded ring onto my finger and presented me with my favorite flowers that he had hid nearby a few hours ago. He had some friends of ours secretly record and take pictures of this entire conversation. I couldn’t stop smiling. The beautiful ring, his “I love you”, his genuine appreciation for me meant the world to me.
24 hours and many more I love yous later, we had just got home from our anniversary dinner. We looked at our photos of the previous night and the dinner and I posted some on my social media. A few minutes later, I got a nasty text from his longtime ex calling me names like whore and slut and saying I ruined their relationship and she should be the one with the ring and just shitting on my entire existence. I asked him to give me some time alone. He said ok and kissed my forehead and dropped off some food and my favorite chocolate he had got for me. Three days went by like this and I called him asking if he could come back home. He left work early and came straight to me. I didn’t even say anything, I just broke down crying when I saw him. He held me close and promised that the only woman he cares about is me, his wife. It’s been a four days since he came back home and he’s been giving me flowers, random hugs and kisses, everything a wife dreams of getting from her husband but I just can’t move on from seeing that video of him and his ex. It’s been a week and we are yet to have an uninterrupted conversation about everything.

But this plan shows no success. They also find difficulties in providing resources and reinforcements. The 4RANNES makes a tactical retreat but declares themself as victories as propaganda. Prologue

Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and posses a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to varios schools of thought. It is interesting to me. I also like mysteries of such kind.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.

Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

You hear about how people have substance abuse or alcoholism co-occurring with a mental illness, including but not limited to eating disorders. What about co-occurring eating disorders? And I'm not referring to one eating disorder manifestation, if you will, morphing into something new. I'm talking about having symptoms that would merit a diagnosis of simultaneous episodes of multiple eating disorders.
I really don't know how else to call it, in my case. Basically, when I was a kid, I loved food. A little too much. I was morbidly obese by age 10, and I needed to lose weight and change my habits for my health. But rather than talk to me about health, nutrition, or exercise AT ALL, my parents forced me to go on the low carb diet. It really sent the message that what mattered was that I lost weight, and it didn't matter if I liked the food I was eating. There was never any mention of my health. It was ALL ABOUT THE DIET.
It's a long story. If there is interest, I'll post more about it at some point. But the bottom line is, I feel like I have some hybrid disorder combining ARFID and atypical anorexia. All the weight and body and control issues of anorexia, with an added bonus of finding a LOT of foods repulsive. (ETA: There's more to ARFID than that, for me and for others, but that's the best way I can describe it without this post getting even longer lol)
I guess this is the first time the two have intersected this way. And I wasn't ever told to expect anything like this, not that that's anybody's fault. It's just that I didn't expect it to happen. I had a rapid cycling thing between anorexia and bulimia for a long time, but there was a point where I would get tempted to lean into a relapse of some kind, but I was able to pull back. See, I used to understand my ED nonsense, on a certain level. Not completely, of course, but who ever does completely understand such things?
But something shifted in a way I didn't expect. Before, I was terrified of gaining weight, but I loved the experience of food. It was something to be avoided and resisted. Now, I'm still terrified, but I have to make myself eat, and I almost never enjoy it. And it starts to feel like... look, I don't know if I'm ready to dig myself out of this. But it's really hard to wake up every day and talk myself into wanting recovery when the act of eating is unpleasant, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
I mean, really, it's hard to stay motivated when that's the experience, and I'm not seeing any improvement in terms of the emotional and mental component of this. Am I the only one who feels like this? I can't imagine I am, but it isn't something I hear talked about, so I don't really know what to think.
To do something that's terrifying, in pursuit of a goal you're not sure you even want, and every step toward that goal is unpleasant in one way or another. You hate making "progress." Maybe you could learn to enjoy it, if any part of the act of consuming food was enjoyable. Maybe you even WANT to like cooking and see food in a different light, and maybe you've even worked on that to a degree. But no matter what, it doesn't work. And it's not usually that it's bad or inedible, but that I get tired of it and tired of thinking about the numbers behind it, and it isn't spectacular. It doesn't scratch the itch. It's just... mechanical, essentially.
I'm hungry, though. I'm always hungry. But why am I going to do all of that, when I know I won't be satisfied, and not ONLY will my hunger not improve in any appreciable way, but that I'll be watching myself GAIN WEIGHT as a result? With no relief from the constant, nagging, obsessive thoughts about food? How can I muster the sheer force of will required to force myself to deal with all of that?
I mean, I'm sorry, but what do I even DO here? It's a constant, exhausting fight. I don't mean to make excuses for myself, but really, am I crazy for feeling that way? It's not fair, and it sucks all around. I NEED to recover if I want to live, and I know I don't want to die. But I can't see a future where I'm not encumbered by this or fat again. And it just makes me feel like my brain is glitching. So much of my energy is used for this nonsense, and more than half the time lately, it's my brain fighting itself over food and weight.
I kinda hate that I care about it at all, frankly.

I have a great Facebook group specifically geared to display and sell Native American Art. Even though I made the group private and screen new members, the analytics show I have members from countries outside the US, Canada and Mexico. The countries outside North and South America are the ones notorious for scamming people. I have to wait until one of them trys a scam to catch and ban them. Is there any way to see which members are from the countries the analytics are showing?

My car was hit while parked and the other driver left no information. The damage requires replacement of both passenger side doors. I went to three shops, two of which were so-called "preferred vendors," and they all estimated the damage north of 5K. No matter which way I go, I will pay the same deductible.
I don't have a problem going to the preferred vendors, but I did have previous business with the non-preferred shop a few years ago and was very satisfied with their work. I committed to this shop for this repair, but am scared off by what I've heard from State Farm claims department and to a lesser extent the shop itself. Basically, that supplemental repairs are not guaranteed to be covered, that the shop cannot even order a part until it receives approval from State Farm, that the shop has to negotiate everything, etc.
I have a lot of confidence in this shop, and my agent told me I should be fine in terms of State Farm covering all the necessary repairs, but I'm still nervous. However I've also read that the deal with the preferred vendors is that the insurance companies usher them business but in exchange the shops may cut corners or make other adjustments to fall in line with the insurance companies' wishes (i.e., to spend as little as possible).
The whole thing is upsetting to me. Anyone have relatable experience?

Okay, so this is now making the rounds. It’s the sort of line that plays into the hands of the news because it ensures that not a single person on either side will change their mind. There is nothing to grab onto. They don’t even try. It really is just the most cold, short, factual statement possible. The bear minimum in fact, needed to ensure they both go on record with a story that more or less, if true, makes sense with any future actions. Here it is:
“An Israeli official has said Hamas has agreed to a "softened" proposal which is "not acceptable to Israel". The official added that Hamas' announcement "appears to be a ruse to cast Israel as the side refusing a deal".
Now here’s my question.
Why not add a bit more to this story to make your side seem more plausible?
Add a bit of color, some specifics, and hell, even throw in a bit of hard evidence — that shouldn’t be all that hard. It doesn’t have to be conclusive but it can be something.
What if, for example, Netanyahu or someone else who represents Israel gets on camera and just says something human. Not this because it’s in my tone, but this is just an example in my own words:
“Hey America. We want to keep you posted and hear it from us, because you have a right to know, given we are allies and we are in this together.
So here’s what’s up:
By now you probably saw our statement, where we said that Hamas offered what we call in the industry a 'softened' version of their ceasefire proposal on May 1st, after we rejected their original on April 16th.
This is our side of the story — we made an offer. They didn’t accept it, but they’re claiming to have accepted it, as a trick. The proposal they did agree to is not the one we offered, so obviously you can see what’s happening here. Sadly, more lies from Hamas, wasting the world’s time with games and treachery, and playing with people’s lives.
Folks, this is not the world we want. You, the Americans can see what’s happening, it's just a trick to make us look like we're refusing peace.
The agreement we submitted, which was more than fair given the circumstances, was alled the 'Gaza Ceasefire Framework,' and I'll be posting the full version tonight, along with all the evidence our intelligence officers can produce to corroborate our story on what really happened. We know that many of you are skeptical, and value critical thinking, and we respect that, we do, too, and we also know not everyone is going to agree. Such are the problems when we let terrorists and con artists set the pace.
And again, I just want to say, sorry this happening. We’ve been through the wringer over here, and even though this happened to us, not you, we know it disrupts your lives, too.
We see the college campus activity, and all I see are people on both sides trying to figure out what’s right, in a really complex world.
All we can do on our end is tell the truth as it unfolds and do the best we can according to international law and our own national security, which again, the full statement of which can be found in a simple video we post each week, which includes many facts that can be checked publicly.
Our love goes out to our American friends, we wish you safety and thank you for your support, we pray for the innocent lives of Gazan citizens over the next few days, hoping that Hamas allows its citizens to get to safety, according to the rules of international law.
We pray for our soldiers, who are our sons and daughters, and the hostages, who are actual human beings, who were abducted from their homes, their yards, the peace concert, in one of the uglier events in human history.
As we go into Rafah, we will have cameras on the ground showing the ample opportunities the Gazan civilians have to move, and whether they do or not, and why, in real time. Please know that gathering this intel puts us at extra risk in ways no other country has ever had to bear, in the name of helping civilians during war. In many case, we do this when they don’t seem to want the help, which makes the sacrifice even more profound.
May we reach peace in the Middle East, and soon.

I work as an interpreter, it's usually really repetitive and not that stressing... most of the times. There are times where the subject of the call is some heavy stuff, and the rule is "keep it cool, your job is to transmit the message and nothing more" and for the most part I can do it. But today I had the biggest regret in my time as interpreter, my client was already having a hard time with the caller because it was a sensitive case and their last interpreter disconnected for some reason.
She was really sweet, I could tell her intention was to help, but then after 20 min in the call something (yes, something, idk what the hell was) happened and they could not hear me anymore. Like, at all!
Yes, that's it.
An audio problem, probably from the line, probably not on my end since this was already the second time this happened to this agent, they could not hear me at all. Those were the most stressful 50 seconds of my life, the call was getting to the most important part (and like I said it was a very sensitive theme) and they could not hear me. I cannot stress enough the amount of disbelief I was in, I was so mad that this happened bc the caller needed sympathy, needed answers, they had already gone through enough and now when they need assistance, answers, something like this happens... again!
I was so mad, although I know it was not necessarily my fault, nor theirs. There was probably something going on with their line, but still I was so mad that in that moment I was like "oh damn this is gonna haunt me for the rest of the day"
Maybe I am overreacting, maybe it's something somewhat common, maybe they don't blame me, sure. But at the end of the day (it's now close to midnight and I can't sleep remembering this lol) I can't get over it.
I'm sorry I couldn't help any further Ms. Agent, I'm sorry your case got delayed bc of this, lady that was calling. This may sound silly, but I can guarantee that this is the one call I feel more distressed about.

It happens everywhere. But man. This patriot today just loved making sure I had to stay behind him to read his incoherent bumper stickers. Then we drove nicely and at the same pace down river. Since this butt cabbage couldn't hear my rant, here you go:
But your patriotism isnt grounded in love of fellow countrymen, it is in the false idea of land ownership, and a worship of protecting ownership. Your LGB/ FJB edition truck says more than you know about your IQ level and the ability to get the dumb joke. Your American flag decal with a blue line and the punisher sticker says more than you know about understanding context and flag code (which you claim to love more than me). Your loud muffler says more than you know about the siz... I'll stop there. You are little. You are broken. And because of this you lash out and follow a strong man that tells you to hate anyone who disagrees. But I'll tell you this, I will vote every time to make sure you have access to quality health care and your children access to quality education. But tell me about love of country.
I'm glad you got to that next light just one second before me, because the car in front of you drives in a respectable manner, so I could read more of your stickers.
