honestly I'm mostly just fed up at this point. we have probably seen 15+ different therapists. they either know nothing and couldn't help (before we knew we had DID), are ableist (was literally a """DID specialist""" but seemed to not understand how dissociation can be dangerous and isn't always productive to survival), or are fucking disrespectful (one triggered us into s/h prog bc the couldn't just respect that a word triggered us and kept forcing their ""modified ifs"" that wasn't actually modified at all and we were trying to open up about ramcoa, this one is the most recent), or fakeclaim us (one for not being as overt during an extremely stressful time. no no we were just cfaking for attention clearly /s)
plus many, many more. I feel furious. I'm so fucking tired of trying when they can't do the bare fucking minimum to be respectful. we FINALLY. FINALLY TALKED A THE MAIN GATEKEEPER TO LET US FIND HELP. SO MUCH FUCKING PROGRESS LOST. the gatekeeper got replaced after the most recent event and now we're right back to square 1. I'm near suicidal because I feel way beyond help AND I'm sick of trying to get it. I can't fucking do it anymore. I know we're not the only one and it just pisses me off more. we SHOULD have help. ALL OF US. we're not alone. but still this fucked up fucking useless system does nothing but hurt us and I am so pissed off and fed up. I just want to due so it'll all be over with bc clearly getting help like everyone says isn't fucking helping. it just hurts us and made us more suicidal.

This one is inspired by an actual problem my friend had to deal with recently. Unfortunately, its a little bit keyboard-locale specific, so if you don't happen to use a us-EN layout keyboard you might want to get a picture of one.
The en-us keyboard layout pictured here is one common layout for keys. There are character-generating keys such as '1' and 'q', as well as modifier keys like 'ctrl' and 'shift', and 'caps-lock'
If one were to press every one of the character-generating keys in order from top to bottom left-to-right, you would get the following string:

plus the whitespace characters TAB,RETURN,SPACE.
Your job is to write a function that takes in a character representing a keypress, as well as a boolean for each 'modifier' key like ctrl,alt,shift,and caps lock, and converts it properly into the ascii character for which the key gets output.
For example, my python implementation keytochar(key='a',caps=True) returns 'A'. However, keytochar(key='a',caps=True,shift=True) returns 'a'.
BONUS: Read in a string containing a record of keypresses and output them to the correct string. A status key change is indicated by a ^ character..if a ^ character is detected, then the next character is either an 's' or 'S' for shift pressed or shift released, respectively, a 'c' or 'C' for caps on or caps off respectively, and a 't' 'T' for control down or up, and 'a' 'A' for alt down or up.
For example on the bonus, given the input
