2024.05.19 18:11 Old-Pie-8220 Did I make a mistake? (Choosing GSB $$ over CBS $$$$+)

I'm an international student who was deciding between GSB and CBS.
I want to go into tech, but also live in NYC long term. I choose GSB because it would be cool to experience the west coast for a little bit, and for the obvious fact that it is the #1 business school in the world, edging out even Harvard imo. But posts on this subreddit have made me a little nervous about taking out loans.
I'll need to take out about $120k in loans for GSB, whereas I could have just paid for CBS through my (admittedly small) savings.
I figure $120k is a lot better than the $250k some people are taking out. I also figure that I will be able to pay back a pretty large chunk with my internship $ (Assuming maybe $30k) and my signing bonus (again maybe assuming $30k), giving me only $60k of loans to really worry about after I graduate.
In my opinion, GSB is worth WAY more than $60k compared to CBS, (imo even $0 at GSB would still sway the needle for all schools except Harvard and Wharton). Just looking at the numbers, GSB grads make by far the most $ after graduating (I think its like $20k more than the next best school). Is my thinking correct?

2024.05.19 18:00 svanderbleek Starting a Pre-Health Club at My School

My school currently only has a Medical Lab Tech club at another campus. So I think I should start a club to help my ECs, for fun, and hopefully to actually accomplish something useful like what Global Brigades does. We have 3 MDs who are professors and several nurses, respiratory therapists, etc who could be sponsors (they have to attend all club meetings so probably not the MDs ha).
A club needs 7 members and to meet at least 1 time a month with a member attended a few required SGA meetings, it all sounds manageable. I've ready met some students I think would be interested. We don't have premed but have many applied health science programs, Medical Assistant, Nurse Bachelors, Surgical Tech, etc.
I know this isn't necessary but could help my app stand out and give me a strong leadership experience right? If I can delegate and keep the time commitment manageable it would be a win.

2024.05.19 17:55 Status-Window8948 App based Web Check-in in the Trains

Why not introduce IRCTC app and QR code based optional web check-in in the trains?
Not to take away the TTs job but many times they won't show up throughout the entire stretch. And sometimes they show up in the middle of the night waking up the passengers in the middle of the night while sleeping.
So since the tech is already available and accessable to the general public, why not leverage it for betterment.
How it has to work:
IRCTC app has to be installed. If booked online or through app the passenger's Id proof details has to be entered. Once the passengers board the train, there should be QR code displayed for that particular trip and the passengers have to scan the QR code through the IRCTC app and checkin along with the boarding station. So the checkin has to happen before the next stop. For offline tickets, they can provide a QR code on the backside to link it on the IRCTC app or put a scanner like the metro station to scan and check-in. For places without the network too, passengers can use the scanners.
The TT can check the portal and come to check the missing tickets. The portal can share the real time seat allotment and if any vacant seats are available for the relief to RAC passangers and send the SMS to the passengers about the seat allocation in the real time rather than wait for the TT to come and allot.

2024.05.19 17:30 SubstantialMetal2545 How do I take a break?

I'm looking to take a break from my Vet Tech program.
I recently lost my health insurance, and in turn lost all of my medications and therapy. My mental health took a huge hit because of this. I have other stresses in my life such as bills, looking for a better paying job that has better benefits, etc.
My concerns about taking a break are these:
Will I have to pay the rest of the tuition for my program? I already have student debt from dropping out of college before, I don't need more debt.
Will I be able to pick up where I left off at a later date?
I'd like to finish my program but the stress of everything is really effecting me. I need time to sort myself out.
Any help or advice is appreciated. Please no sarcasm or snide remarks. I have enough going on as it is, I'm just looking for advice.

2024.05.19 16:51 Obvious_Ad4159 Twice Awoken (Pilot chapter)

It has been 20 years since the first calamity struck Earth. A massive wave of solar radiation from a nearby star known as Prometheus 673B showered our solar system in 2025. Electronics have been rendered useless for months, giving humanity the glimpse of what life was like long before. But that was merely temporary. The true effect of the solar flare came in the form of an illness, that afflicted roughly 10% of the current population. Unlike anything we've ever seen, the illness did not kill, rather enhanced the afflicted. For the first time in human history, the term Esper was used seriously. Dubbed the Awoken, those afflicted with illness that stemmed from the solar flare of Prometheus, gained the ability to manifest their own thoughts into reality, with varying degrees of success. At first, nations and laws, society as whole, was not prepared to deal with these new humans and their abilities. Crime ran rampant for a while.
Five years after the incident, the world banded together in a unified front, known as the AMA, The Awoken Management Agency, a world wide agency tasked with handling and controlling the Awoken, allowing humanity to once more function as a whole. Satellites have been sent out as far Earth's gaze into space could reach, to watch our for any other potential cosmic events that may occur, like the one that happened with Prometheus back in '25.
Now, 20 years since the first incident, the satellites have picked up another major cosmic event on the horizon, this time coming from the Aquila constellation. Is humanity ready to withstand whatever cosmos has prepared for it?

"Kenji. Wake up! You'll be later for your lectures, again."
The young man groaned, slowly turning to his side in bed, looking at his mother that stood at the doorway. "I'm up, I'm up."
Yawning and stretching, he sat up in bed, running his fingers through his hair, before turning to check the small clock on his nightstand.
"Wha? Late? Mom, it's only 8. Lectures don't start until 10." He sighed.
"Oh well. No need to cut it short, right? Plus, I've made breakfast." His mother replied and went back downstairs.

AMA Information Database:
Kenji Aoto. Age: 21 Category: Type 1 Awoken Ability: Embodiment. The unique ability of Kenji Aoto, unlike other Awoken of the same type, allows him to alter his own body based on how he feels. Most Type 1s change their environment around them, rather than themselves. Type 1s are classified as such for having abilities that considered non dangerous to the general non awoken population.
[]
"We've got a lot of promising talent this year huh?" Nathaniel said to his daughter, as the two looked down at the auditorium full of students. The dean of the university was preparing his usual welcoming speech, as the assistants tried to quiet down the murmurs of the students.
"Yeah, we sure do." Clara smiled, not taking her eyes off the scene. "Quite a good number of Awoken too."
"Anyone interesting in particular?" Nathaniel asked.
"No, not really. They all have the standard abilities you would expect out of a type 1. Same level of control to boot." She responded.
"Well, I look forward to being their professor." Her father smiled, inhaling deeply. "The smell of youthful energy, so amazing. I can still remember your first day as a freshman."
Clara blushed a bit, nudging him in the ribs with her elbow. "Shouldn't you be down there giving your speech, Dr. Offset?"
Nathaniel rubbed the back of his neck with a slightly embarrasses laugh to boot. "Oh don't call me that. Ahem, yeah. I'll be going now. See you later for lunch?"
"Of course dad." Clara smiled, giving her father a little wave as he left the teacher conference room.
[]
AMA Information database:
Clara Harris. Age: 32 Category: Non-Awoken (regular human) The lead ambassador for Awoken rights and unification in the AMA. Daughter of the lead researcher in Awoken development and the head teacher of the Awoken department in Nagoya University, Japan, Nathaniel Harris.
Nathaniel Harris. Age: 55 Category: Type 2 Awoken Ability: Offset. Acquired during the first Prometheus flare, the ability of Dr. Offset (he thought the name was cool when he was in his 20s), allows him to offset numerical values. Though touching an object is not required to use the ability on it, the potency of the ability greatly improved when he has direct contact with it. This also extends to, in theory, numerical values pertaining to objects and their position in space, relative to Nathaniel. Meaning he can move objects or parts of them relative to where he's standing, by changing their coordinates, however there were no recorded instances of him doing so. Examples include: Increasing or reducing the temperature of a beverage by direct contact. Increasing or decreasing friction on a surface of an object temporarily by touching it.
In his youth, Nathaniel attempted to become a sort of hero, once his powers kicked in, but due to the very low potency of his abilities, he never really managed to make the cut as one, despite being a type 2. Type 2s are classified as such due to having abilities that could be considered dangerous, powerful or harmful for the general non awoken population.

Location: Russia, Siberia. Time: 22:37 Facility: Maximum security prison for Awoken criminals in Russia, cell block 5.
Theodore laid in his bunk, staring at the ceiling. Each of his breaths released a soft cloud of vapor, that commonly occurs when someone is in a cold environment. In his case, the vapor was a byproduct of his ability, rather than the cold cell we was in. A thug with a love for violence, turned bank robber when his abilities fully developed, Theodore terrorized Russia and the neighboring countries. It wasn't until the AMA was finally assembled and operational, that he was arrested and sentenced to multiple life sentences in this highest security prison that Russia had at a time.
Even after being sent behind bars, he kept up his antics, becoming a nightmare for the guards and inmates alike. No man that was placed in a cell with him would last more than a few days before demanding transfer. Some even lost their lives to the former thugs whims, before their transfer requests could be approved. Hence Theodore has been placed in solitary, a cell designed with all the tech necessary to nullify his ability. There he spent the last 10 years of his life.
Despite being a type 1, an awoken with abilities that were not classified as dangerous to the general population, Theodore managed to use them to their fullest extent. His blessing of temperature manipulation, was a curse to everyone around him.
He looked outside, at the night sky, through his small cell window. Apparently, there was a big stellar event, similar to the one 20 years ago, that gave him the powers he now has. He heard guards and other inmates talk about it, how AMA is now prepared for such an event.
Theodore closed his eyes, imagining what this aurora would look like. The memory of that night, when Prometheus 673B's flare struck earth still fresh in his mind like it was yesterday. The otherworldly mixture of reds and yellows and greens. Like a primordial fire that was lit across the night sky.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps outside his cell snapped him out of his memory.
"Huh?" He adjusted in bed, to see who was outside his cell.
A man, in a white cloak with golden details, stood outside his cell. Theodore was confused. The man was not one of the guards, he was bare footed and did not wear any uniform. And no way he was one of the other inmates, no one had the capabilities to leave their cells without being let out.
"Hey, who the hell are you? How did you get here? The guards letting us out or something?" The criminal walked over to his cell door. The bars were made of material that could withstand sudden changes in temperature without bending or breaking, preventing him from getting out.
The man said nothing, he didn't even turn towards the convict, he merely stood there, hood covering his as he looked up at the night sky through the decorative windows on the buildings roof.
"Hey asshat! I asked you a question. How the fuck did you get out of your cell? C'mon man, don't be a dick, let me out too." Theodore grabbed the bars and rattled them.
The cloaked man finally turned towards him. The convict was stunned, only for a second. The man has a beard and long hair, both as white as his cloak. But his eyes, they were as blue as the midday sky. He could have sworn energy seemed to pour out of them. Before he could say another word, the figure before him extended his hand at him, and with a snap of his fingers, a bold of lightning struck Theodore square in the chest. The convict was send flying, back hitting the wall opposite the cell doors.

Location: Brazil, San Paolo. Time: 16:37 Facility: Remodeled Taubaté Prison, cell block 3.
Vitor sat on the bench press, just finishing a set, looking over the prison yard. Even behind bars, his connections did not dwindle. A former petty drug dealer, Vitor Alves quickly rose to power and influence once his powers awoke. He employed other Awoken with criminal tendencies as his own personal task force to drive all other competition into the ground. Once he held the entirety of San Paolo's drug empire in his hand, he set his sights farther. We wanted the entire city for himself, believing that no one could challenge his claim to that right.
With the help of the AMA, the Brazilian government swiftly put his plan to rest, and Vitor behind bars. The fight between the Awoken under Alves and the AMA/Brazilian forces was indeed a bloody one and resulted in a good number of civilian casualties. The drug lord was sent to Taubate, where he would spend the rest of his life. The prison was remodeled, per AMA standards, to be fully equipped and capable of holding Awoken criminals.
Despite having powers of temperature manipulation, capable of increasing temperature to lethal amounts, Vitor did not believe that to be his strongest ability. Money, influence, connections, those were real power, what truly carried him to the top of the criminal world.
Even now, as he sat on the bench press, doing a few reps before looking over the yard, Vitor was not powerless in the outside world. He waited on his informant, his connection to the outside, to appear so he could delegate orders to what was left of his followers and empire on the outside.
He wasn't sure if it was something he ate, or the heat from the pounding sun. Maybe it was even that sky flare that he heard AMA guards mention. Something indeed felt off, his vision seemed a bit blurry. As if the entire prison courtyard was moving slowly right before him. But the informant should be there soon, so Vitor decided not to go back to his cell just yet.
The other inmates, guards, even the basketball that the inmates played hoops with, suddenly slowed down to a halt. Through the statue like crowd, a single figure moved over to Vitor. His feet were bare, his body and face hidden behind a hooded cloak. The drug lord could only see his white beard and his eyes, as they seemed to be glowing a faint blue glow. Before he even got a chance to speak, the man extended his hand towards him and with a smirk, snapped his fingers, sending a bolt of lightning straight into the mans body, causing Vitor to fly several feet and collapse on the ground.
[]
"Ugh... What the fuck man?" Theodore cursed, as he regained his consciousness. Slowly, he got up to his knees, his head pounding like he was struck by a hammer. The cell felt colder than before. Looking around, he saw the entire cell frozen, every surface covered by a thick layer of ice. Bed, toilet, the cell doors, frozen solid. And the ice shifted. With every movement of his hands, the ice followed.
"Could it be?" The inmate whispered, focusing his mind, channeling his ability. Ice began to form in the palm of his hand, morphing freely. With a single wave of his hand, the frozen bed shattered into bits and pieces. Theodore inhaled, getting up to his feet, head still in pain. But the realization was crystal clear. He could now freeze things without having to touch them, manipulate what he froze, as well create ice out by freezing the water in the air. With a grin plastered across his face, Theodore thanked the mysterious man, of who there was not a single trace left, and decided that he's busting himself out of prison.
[]
"WARNING! WARNING! WARNING. PRISON BREAKS DETECTED ACROSS MULTIPLE AMA FACILITIES!" Blared the system on screen at the Awoken Management Agency in Nagoya. Other HQs across the globe received the same warning.
"What the hell is going on?" Clara said, running into the monitoring hall.
"I don't know. Prison breaks, across multiple locations world wide." Kaito replied, his eyes not leaving the monitors as he fired up the surveillance drones on the impacted locations.
"The main facilities that were absolutely totaled are Siberia and San Paolo." He continued.
"Think it could be?" Clara asked.
"Not possible. The protection against solar flares was at full power. Not a single particle should have hit the ground. I mean, we didn't lose any tech, unlike last time." Kaito shot her question down, pulling up the drone feed of the two prisons.
Taubate was in flames. The entire facility seemed to be entirely engulfed in a raging fire. The Russian counterpart held no better either. The entire prison was torn apart by massive glacier like formations, that seemed to jut out of the ground.
Clara, Kaito and other technicians presents stared, slackjawed, at the live drone feed. Something like that was not possible, no Awoken held that level of power. Not even if multiple Awoken united, could they produce that level of destruction across such a large area.
"Wait wait! What's that? Zoom in on one of the glaciers!" One of the technicians said, pointing at the big monitors.
Kaito's fingers flew across the keyboard, as the drone moved closer and the video on screen zoomed to its maximum. On one of the glacier formations, sat a man, clearly an inmate based on the jumpsuit he was wearing.
"Running identification." Chimed the computer.
"Inmate 4012: Theodore Ivarovski. Age: 36. Category: Type 1 Awoken. Ability: Low drop. His ability allows him to significantly drop the temperature of anything he touches, almost instantly."
"He's a type 1. No way in hell that he could pull of something like this." Clara said, eyes glued to the screed. "He must have re-awoken, there is no other explanation."
"Clara, in the last 20 years since the Prometheus, there was never a single instance of that happening. Some Awoken do push their abilities past the initial capabilities, but that's usually the end of it. It's a conspiracy theory." Kaito mumbled.
"Then how do you explain THAT?" She said, pointing at a massive piece of ice that was quickly forming above Ivarovski, before being sent flying towards the drone and cutting off the live feed.

2024.05.19 16:42 JumpyOccasion5004 Do you think Australia is an entrepreneur-friendly country?

Hi! I am a college student, and I've been thinking about starting a business since I was a child. I love the biotech and biomedical fields and am currently studying in these fields. However, I’m feeling a bit confused because I know that starting a startup, especially tech ones can be challenging.
I don't know anyone my age who is determined to be an entrepreneur, so I feel a bit lost when it comes to seeking advice. I think I need advice from someone more experienced who can show me the reality.
Whether you're an entrepreneur, a former one, an investor, or someone with experience in any kind of business, your insights would be highly appreciated!
Thank you in advance :)

Reflections:
I'm super grateful and happy with my decisions. I have committed to Princeton, and it definitely is the best fit for me. College results this year were very random, but I couldn’t be more thankful to get into the #1 undergraduate university. I was worried that since most of my application was MIT-related (Research, classes, Letters of Rec, Awards, Activities), other universities would think I was going there and reject me. College results were super random and stressful, but it worked out better than I could have ever imagined. It's funny how I got waitlisted and rejected from all my target schools (Vandy, UMich, USC) but then got into most of my reach schools.
Advice for Future Applicants:
Be authentic. There is no formula that gets you in. Sure, you have to do a couple of things like getting good grades and SAT scores and having some unique activities and awards, but especially for Top 10 schools, you just have to be unique and authentic. I didn't have any connections or background (like private school and college counselor) that provided me with opportunities. I was literally the first kid ever from my school to get into Princeton. I was authentic and hardworking, did stuff I enjoyed, and one thing led to another. I also spent a lot of time on essays and my application. 50% of the work is actually doing stuff, and the other 50% is showcasing it in your college application. Also, have balance in life. I had a lot of fun in high school and enjoyed the stuff I did. Live life with no regrets. Feel free to DM me.

2024.05.19 15:37 Party-Intention5304 Handling dancers that want “louder” every song…

I’m a music tech teacher at a high school and do sound for the dance program. The dance teachers constantly want everything louder than the last song, especially when more than one dance teacher has their kids performing. I’m taking measurements mid- audience and it’s easily 85-90db, and 110db peak…. And they want more. And we’re gonna be there for 2 hours.
I can tell ear fatigue sets in and they (teachers and students) are amped up and not thinking about the effect on their perception. To be fair - they’ve got a lot going on with watching kids, costumes, lunch schedule, etc.
Another reason they may ask is because maybe their expectations are off - a hip-hop number with big bass right before a gentler ballet with delicate guitar introduction is always going to see a drop in level. They immediately complain it’s too quiet.
Meanwhile, thank god it’s just a DJ deck for most of the show because as soon as someone turns on a mic to welcome parents I’m sitting on a razor’s edge managing feedback and getting dirty looks for not “turn her up so everyone can hear”.
No one is going anywhere… How do you handle talking to/educating others about volume issues?
In case anyone is wondering, The rig is a DJ deck into a Yamaha dm3 into two EV ZLX15 powered speakers and one stage monitor. Minimal and ‘portable’. Shure wireless mics for welcome and farewell address.

2024.05.19 15:27 feles02 How to earn during your BTech?

My background: Finished my 3rd year of undergrad in CSE at one of the mid-IIITs (estd. 2013). Managed to earn around 3L+ last year through internships and hackathons. This might not be a lot for you, but this has been my entire year's hard work. And I am pretty sure there might be people who are earning a lot during their B.Tech, very happy to interact with them and share their findings and experience as well on this post! Let's get started.
Saw a lot of questions in this community, like how to earn during B.Tech, etc. Thought I could share my story and it could be helpful to some of the people. I have been very mediocre throughout my life, found CS and coding really interesting while I was in 9th Grade and started coding, thanks to my school for introducing it. Used to code in Java, solve really basic problems like Armstrong Number, etc till my 10th Grade. 11th started and gave up coding altogether for JEE.
I hardly coded for the next 2 years, barely. Just enough to pass my school exams. Gave JEE, got a 97%ile-ish percentile (26-27Kish Rank), had no options but lower branches at NITs and CS and ECE and newer or mid IIITs. Went for CS at IIIT (they are pretty expensive). Always had that feeling that I am wasting so much of my parent's money and wanted to pay back my tuition fees. So actually I started coding again as soon as I could.
I'll break it down for you in a few pointers -
Explore what you find interesting
Explore as much as you can during your first and partly second-year. By the end of your second year, you should be sure about what you want to do. Be it AI, ML, CP, Web3, etc. Anything that interests you.
I found open-source interesting and tried to contribute to a few projects, but couldn't. It was overwhelming, and was able to make some meaningless contributions, not proper features. Disappointed, tried to do CP. As you can imagine, more disappointment. Spent 3-4 months and realized this was not for me. During my 2nd semester, started exploring web development towards the end. Hated it a lot, it was really boring at the start. I am pretty sure you all felt that way when started. The turning point for me was Smart India Hackathon (SIH), which brings me to my next point.
Participate in as many hackathons/events/conferences you can
Nobody is going to judge you if you don't win a hackathon. We participated in SIH, just for fun in our first year (2nd semester). Funny enough, our idea got selected and we were in the finals. We went to the finale (3rd semester) and we won that too. That experience taught me a bunch of stuff. One of those things is:
You need a good team
You need to surround yourself with people who don't give up, who are ready to give all they have got, be it in any hackathon, any class project or anything else. I hadn't touched React before SIH, started with it a week before the finale, and learnt most of it in those 36 hours. I was writing something that I had no prior experience in, and that feeling was amazing, which brings me to another point.
Practice as much as you can. Get as much real-world experience as you can.
One of the best advices that I had ever gotten from a senior was, "Expose yourself to as much technologies as you can and get familiar with them." That worked like a charm. I am still hungry for learning something new. We won SIH, btw. We were super elated. We got selected in our first year and won by the time we reached our second year.
From there on, I started looking for internships because I was familiar with React now. I did everything I could. Tried to keep my LinkedIn active, made a Wellfound account (back then, it was called AngelList), Internshala, did everything I could. A lot of my internship search was off at times. I never did it consistently during my 3rd semester. Plus I think, it's very hard for companies to take a 2nd year student seriously, everyone wants an internship and money but do you really have the skills? I found a teaching assistant intern for Java through Internshala (even Idk how), they paid me around 8K for 20 days. That was my first ever earning after the SIH's prize money. I was pretty happy, but that just motivated me to get more internships, this time, actual development internships.
Soon after, found one through Linkedin in my 4th semester itself and after that, there was pretty much no stopping which brings me to my next point.
Be consistent in your internship/job search
I started being more active on professional platforms. I used to apply at at least 15-20 openings daily through different platforms like LinkedIn and Wellfound. Mostly on Wellfound. For a month or so, no callbacks. It was a drought. And it is really disheartening to watch that, but that's when you just gotta keep going. I kept applying and soon enough, I was giving 2-3 interviews a day for weeks. Interviews helped me. My 2023 summer vacations went in improving my resume, making a good project, adding it to the resume, getting my resume reviewed multiple times by my seniors and implementing their feedback.
During summer vacations, I started exploring web3 and it was interesting. Started applying for web3 companies for fun. Interesting enough, got some callbacks. I still remember a company, a web3 one. Their process went on for a month, 4 rounds, 2 take-back assignments, I did everything and yet I was rejected xD with no feedback. That hurt. But just a week after, I had gotten myself another interview at an Indian web3 company. I was really excited because they had raised around 20 M USD 2 years back so really wanted to work for that company.
It's a long story, but I officially joined that company for 6 months starting in October 2023. I loved the culture, the people, and everything was great. Except, I had too much free time. So started looking for more work. Long story, interned at an AI startup as a Product Engineering Intern for 2.5 months during October to December. In February, another web3 startup, worked for 2 months and the pay was great, but left it because it was getting really hectic. I switched departments in my original web3 company and got another intern for 6 months in the new department, hoping for a full-time role in this department xD
So that's pretty much it. That's my story, or at least the gist of it. Participated in several hackathons along the way, lost most, won some, but at the end of the day, it's the experience for me. Definitely, my most interesting year.
I'd love your guys's questions on this post. If anyone else wants to post their experience in the comments, they are free to! Also any suggestions to the post are appreciated. This is my first time writing such a long post here on Reddit.
EDIT: Getting a lot of queries, might take me some time to reply but you can DM me. I want to answer all the queries here so rest assured, I'll reply to you, sooner or later.

2024.05.19 15:26 Far-Wishbone5448 Credit hours

Hi, I’m planning on applying to transfer to Georgia tech next year and I’ve heard that most succesful transfer students have 60 credit hours by the time they apply. I really want to be able to transfer to GT after my first year rather than waiting until the end of my second year so I was wondering if my AP credits count towards those credit hours? If not, how can I set myself up to have the best odds at getting accepted as a freshman applicant?

2024.05.19 15:21 bluebutterfly____ Should I Continue Studying Tech and Coding While Being a Full-Time Medical Student?

Advice
Hey everyone !
So I am a third year med student who adores his studies. I also have a keen interest in coding. I recently enrolled in a 6 month program that teaches back-end development. I am currently two months in, amazed by the quality and quantity of everything I study and work with, but I also find it a little overwhelming.
I'd like to know if it would be a wise decision to drop off and only focus on medschool. Balancing both fields is stressful at times. I’m worried about burnout and whether trying to excel in both areas is sustainable. However, I have a thirst for knowledge and I want to be able to use tech and development in the medical field. I want to be able to create an application that would be beneficial for me and my patients.
I have no idea what to do.
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences you could share. Thanks in advance for your help!

2024.05.19 15:17 ni_kollalo Mechanical career advice needed

Hey! Iam recently living in confusion all the time because of tension that what career should i choose. I completed my mechanical engineering course from a tier 4 college because of that i never got a strong guidance for what to do next. As for why i chose mechanical is because out of my love towards tech and my main interests while growing up were cars, rockets,Robotics, sustainability etc. Even though i completed my course a year ago i still have backlogs still i have no regret in choosing mechanical to study. Because of my bad college we didn't had any proper faculty to teach us mechanical engineering so i taught myself everything from ground up and i really like it. But coming to choosing a career I'm completely confused about what to do next. Some of my friends studied some MEP, and other oil and gas related course and got placed. No offense but they're jobs are not the ones i dreamt of. I want to make stuff and be in an environment where i will feel involved and not be a slave. Like in production or something. But when i researched those kind of jobs only go to students from top colleges. So as of now I'm like a blank slate not knowing what to do. Anyways I've decided to join a coding course because its a necessity in future. So tell me guys what should i do?. Are my dreams superficial? Should i just switch to it and do data science or something. Please guys help me. I'm literally having sleepless nights because of tension. ( ps. Right now I'm working in IT operations and even though i like it, it doesn't feels like somewhere i belong).
