2024.05.07 12:51 LarryBetraitor Four New Pokemon Type Charts

Hey, guys. I decided to work on not one, not two, but FOUR different Pokemon Type Charts! These could be interchangeable depending on game modes, but for now, we will focus on the first type chart I made.

[1] Classically Balanced

This type chart attempts to have a balance between logic... and... well... balance. It isn't perfect by any means, but it's certainly better than the type chart we have now.
https://imgur.com/a/kbWBpcz
Changes:
As you can see here, I put in the best effort I could to make sure that each and every type felt balanced... except for Faries... SCREW the Faries! All my lizard homies HATE Faries! Now let's move on to-

[2] Truly Balanced

Some might say that even though that last chart is more balanced than the actual Pokemon game's chart, it STILL isn't balanced enough! But how can we make a chart that's... TRULY balanced...? Perhaps... that's IT! LOGIC is the problem! LOGIC is the reason why Steel still resists everything! It gets in the way of BALANCE! So let's throw ALL LOGIC out the window! There is only room for... balance...
Each type has:

Now, I know what you're thinking... Why TF is Grass immune to Rock, and how the frick frack tickitey snick snack does Ghost RESIST Fighting?! And to that, I say... "Shut up! Your facts and logic are corrupting the balance of the game!"

[3] Unreasonably Realistic

What's the matter? Is the balance not REALISTIC enough for you? Fine, let's see what happens when we flip the reverse switch. Let us throw ALL of the balance out the window, leaving only room for logic and nothing else.
https://imgur.com/a/5wpsOBv
As you can see, there are reds, Reds, REDS! Reds all across the board! We are taking the Pokemon type chart WAY too literally! Every interaction would take FOREVER to explain, so instead, I'll explain the rules of the types THEMSELVES and let you all come to your own conclusions.
We like to roast the Pokemon type chart for not being balanced or realistic, but when we take things too literally or too far, the game would NOT be fun! And this isn't even taking DUAL TYPES into account! Good luck trying to defeat an Electric/Ghost type!

[4] Pure Chaos

Phew, bet all those type interactions made your brain hurt, so let's take a breather. Here's a simpler chart that you don't even have to put effort in to remember.

Neither balanced nor logical, EVERYTHING BEATS EVERYTHING! Don't even THINK about using a Dual Type as your defensive wall! But don't lie to me, you secretly want this to be real, don't you? Wouldn't that just be some dumb, goofy fun? No need to study or memorize, just moves, stats, and abilities.
These are all four type charts that I thought would bring some fun and strategy to the table. Which type chart is your favorite?

2024.05.06 19:01 ZHODY ZHODY's 5th Reverse-Monolocke Master Run, Part 0: Rules and expectations

Welcome back to my Reverse-Monolocke Master challenge! I’ve finished my test run in Diamond... and found out my new computer has a very weak graphics card. Well, at least the Delta emulator is available now. I’ll be cropping images and reducing their size before transferring them to imgur, though.
Anyway, onto the challenge! If you’re not familiar with my Reverse-Monolocke runs, feel free to check out the Nuzlocke Forum thread I made for the challenge. It has the full table of contents for the first four runs, all of which were successful! It also has rules in there, but I’m once again adding a game-specific rule, so read that below.
On to the chosen Weakness Type: All of my Pokemon will be weak to Rock-type! I experimented with the risky type’s user being earlier in the last run, so now it’s time to strategize enough to fight against the risky type right off the bat! Well, there’s other dangerous Rock-type users in Diamond (like Byron, Agatha, and *snickers* Flint), but I’ll have a WateFlying-type by then.
Here’s the rules (please view on oldreddit):
  • Base nuzlocke rules. Dead is dead but blackout is not a game over.
  • Only Pokémon weak to a certain type are allowed. Pokémon who lack the weakness, but gain it on evolution are allowed. Pokémon who lose the weakness on evolution are prohibited from evolving.
    • Temporary in-battle type changes that make a Pokemon immune to the Weakness Type may be used, but similar forms that stick outside of battle are not. The type that a Pokemon is in outside of battle is what you should base viability on. (ex. Castform in a Fighting Rev-Mono can change to Sun Form in battle, but Castform’s Sun Form existing does not mean you can catch it in a Water Rev-Mono.)
  • For games where there is no valid Pokemon in the normal selection of starters, I will use UPR to modify my starter Pokemon. This modified starter Pokemon must fit the following criteria: Must be a base form that can evolve AND has 415 Base Stat Total (BST) or less.
  • One chance of catching per route (first encounter), but only valid Pokémon count as encounters.
  • Kantonian Dupes Clause: Dupes Clause is only present if a new, valid Pokemon appears in that area. If not, you're getting a duplicate.
  • Level cap is on par with the highest and lowest leveled Pokémon of the next ‘boss battle’ (gym leaders, rival battles, etc). Only one of my Pokemon may match the level of the boss’ Ace, the rest must be the same level as their weakest.
  • Shiny clause: Any shiny that is weak to the Weakness Type may be caught and used no matter what. A shiny that does not have the weakness cannot be used but may still be caught and exchanged for either reviving a dead Pokémon or revisiting a previous route for another catch (all randomly determined).
  • In-game trades between two valid Pokemon are free game. In-game trades where the requested Pokémon is non-valid but the given Pokémon is valid may also be accepted, but I must “pay” a sum of money equal to the given Pokémon’s base stat total * its base xp yield. This will make sure the best Pokémon don’t come cheap. Gen 3 Examples: Bulbasaur 20K, Venusaur 123K, Magikarp 8K, Gyarados 102K, Dratini 18K, Dragonite 162K, Mewtwo 208K, Chansey 177K, Blissey 328K. It should be pretty rare to find a trade like this and pretty challenging to get 100K together to spend on it, so I think it’s fairly balanced.
  • Token rule, needed for rare types: For every route where I have to forfeit a catch because no valid type appears there, I get a token. 3 tokens can be spent to revisit a route where I know I can catch something. I can also use 2 tokens to catch in another subsection of a location (e.g. if Mount Moon has valid types on two floors and I missed a catch on Route 1 and 2, I can catch on two floors in Mount Moon).
    • 5 tokens can be used to make another version of a Pokemon that you only get one of (ex. Starter, Eevee, etc.), but only after the original dies. This new Pokemon won’t be a clone and will have a new name, set of stats, and PID. This rule cannot be applied to a Legendary or a Pokemon you never owned. (ex. The Mt. Moon fossil you didn’t choose)
  • Where I would normally get gifted a Return TM by Rowan in Platinum, Rowan has instead prepared the gift of a Poke Radar for me. (All of the runs with Froslass’ other weaknesses are already planned and I couldn’t live without using Froslass in a Rev-Mono Run. 😔)
Starter So, looking at my choice of starters and Rule #3... Chimchar can’t evolve, because Fighting resists Rock! Guess I can edit in a Rock Smash-learning Bagon instead! ”Isn’t that a bit cheatsy?” Oh, most certainly, but it’s my only hope for Roark! I’m not gonna pin all of this run’s hopes on the Rock Smash capabilities of a baby monkey and Kricketune. (Though soloing with Bagon might not be any better...)
Moving on, Rocky (the Rival) dragged me into tall grass to get attacked by a Starly. I had Bagon replace Chimchar in the Briefcase, so it still looks like I’m choosing the unevolvable Pokemon, heh. With a tiny Dragon by her side, Roll (Dawn) had it Bite the Starly. The bird’s Growl didn’t phase Bagon, who took it down with one more Bite.
Like the characters’ names? Rock and Roll seemed like an obvious choice, but I made the rival Rocky to make it slightly less of a Mega Man reference. This run’s Nickname Theme is types of rocks to camouflage our Pokemon, so Bagon got named Schist when we reached Rowan. (The wikipedia page says Schist can be easily split, so my brain connected the dots with Rock Smash, heh.) And like the final rule says, once I left his lab (and finished Lucas’ tour...) I used PkHeX to receive the wonderful gift of a brand new Poke Radar~ (Don’t expect me to use it any time soon, though.)
Strengths and weaknesses As usual I’ll link to my Weakness Type document, where you can see that the valid types for this run are Fire, Bug, Flying, and Ice. The banned sub-types are Ground, Steel, and the previously mentioned Fighting.
Sinnoh’s lack of Fire-types is well known, so I expect to use some tokens for multiple Ponyta when the time comes, but Salamence does learn Flamethrower. Bug-types in Sinnoh also means I’ll be using Honey and changing my phone’s time a lot... Wait, PkHeX has an option to make a tree shake right away? I’ll definitely abuse that! Thirdly, Starly’s (and Zubat’s!) ubiquity in Sinnoh will probably lead to a lack of tokens, but I foresee Staraptor’s Close Combat helping a lot with the Ice and Rocks.
All of the viable Pokemon are pretty good, thankfully. Though there’s a handful of Birds that seem allergic to Flying-type STAB. (Murkrow/Honchkrow, Swablu/Altaria, and Drifloon/Drifblim) The Poke Radar doesn’t add many Pokemon (Venonat is Post-Game...), but I’m looking forward to using one of my favorites~
Opportunities and expectations Here’s a quick overview of the 55 viable and obtainable Pokemon:
Zubat/Golbat/Crobat: It’s a speedy staple for a reason
Ponyta/Rapidash: Its late evolution is annoying, but it’s just in time for Candice!
Magikarp/Gyarados: Speedy Physical Rock Destroyer
Hoothoot/Noctowl: Doesn’t hit hard, but sleep induction is always nice.
Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff: I really like them, and their status effects will certainly help.
Sneasel/Weavile: It hits hard and fast, but isn’t as good in the defense department.
Mantyke/Mantine: It beats Gyarados in SpDef, but only shows up in the last route of the game :(
Wurmple/Silcoon/Beautifly: No.
Cascoon/Dustox: I love my Poisonous Bugs with Psychic-type affiliation and Dustox is no exception!
Swellow: It’s a Hoenn staple for a reason
Wingull/Pelipper: Special Rock Destroyer and Protect Enthusiast
Nincada/Ninjask: Out of my many Eterna Forest options, Nincada is not near the top of my list.
Shedinja: Not risking it.
Snorunt/Glalie: The Glalie in my test run proved they’re very good Mixed Attackers.
Bagon/Shelgon/Salamence: I’ll teach Schist Brick Break after I delete Rock Smash, heh.
Starly/Staravia/Staraptor: It’s a Sinnoh staple for a reason
Kricketot/Kricketune: They’ll quickly be outclassed, but their Rock Smash may help.
Burmy/Wormadam (Plant): I’m very sad that I can’t use my favorite Pink Cloak, but I’m sure those Psychic moves will still be useful.
Mothim: There’s a reason I abandoned my last Nuzlocke Mothim.
Combee/Vespiquen: pulls out PkHeX Be Girl or Become Girl. Oh, and I wish I got more than one U-Turn TM, because Attack/Defend Order could complement that.
Chatot: Does a lot less than Starly, but screaming for more damage is such a fun concept!
Skorupi: Wait, it has more Defense than Kricketune?? If only Eviolite was a thing...
SnoveAbomasnow: Just keep it away from Fire and that Wood Hammer can destroy nearly anything! It’s definitely my best Grass-type option.
Frosslass: *Pokemon Fan Club President impression* Wonderful...Speedy...Gorgeous...Strong!
I don’t expect this to be as much of a breeze as the last game, but I think I’ll rack up a ton of box mons just like in the Dragon-Weak run. The test run was on a randomized Diamond game, so I didn’t get to experience Flint’s silly Steelix, but it was still pretty rough. (I trapped myself with a team that was 5/6ths weak to Ground, ugh.) Schist will certainly do a lot of carrying early on, but I won’t leave out everyone else!
By the way, I tried really hard to think of a way to play my first Pokemon game for this challenge, and I couldn’t think of any other type that would be good in Sinnoh (I thought about Poison-Weak, but that’s a Grass Mono unless I want to do two physical cartridge runs in this challenge), so it seems like this is the last time I’ll be Weak in Sinnoh. I hope this Sendoff (Spring) to Sinnoh goes well!

2024.05.05 16:21 YeahhhhhWhateverrrr Complaining about customization now, is so beyond entitled at this point.

Bare with me please. This is super long. Because i am preemptively making rebutals to every single excuse people come up with for why infinites customization isn't the best in the series for free. Every argument I've heard.
I know it's long and ranty. I still see, every day, people act like halo infinite is greedy. Everytime there's a new goal post. "As long as it's just cosmetics that are paid, battlepasses never expiring is a game changer that should be copied" was the narrative when the game FIRST came out and before launch. Then it was "if we got some credits in the battlepass to buy the next ones". Then it was "if weekly rewards were better". Then it was "if we had a career rank to grind". Then it became "if we could earn the items we missed". Now, hundreds of free items later, All things that have now been added to the game and changed, and the narrative is exactly the same!
We now have 5 means of progression in this game. The most in the entire series. We have career XP, battlepass XP where all battlepass are free while they are active and each one gets a FULL armor set and multiple skins every month. We now have earnable credits. We have multiple ranked playlists at all times. There is tons to grind for now, and at a REASONABLE rate compared to any other halo game. Even the new credit store is significantly faster than buying items in reach. THEN you have your weekly challenges and weekly reward on top of that.
One full armor set a month, plus multiple skins in the pass. Weekly rewards have gotten pretty damn good, and even include armor pieces, and even helmets at times. Plus grinding for by far the best max rank reward in the entire series and it ain't even close imo. Now you have the credit store, which yes doesmt have a TON of items to get all at once, but it does rotate and there IS a great pool of items there to pull from. Some of the best skins, and visors, armor effects, and kill effects were entirely free and WILL be there.
Then you have free skins, arguably the BEST skins in the entire game, constantly. Twitch skins and promotional free skins, imo are by far the best in the game. The islander skin we just got, one of the best by far, alongside the African heritage month one. And the twitch skins are top teir as well, and also free.
The battlepass themsleves are beyond cheap. And every seasonal pass can be bought, all of them together, for 10 bucks if you go through them in an order where you earn 10 bucks in credits each and every pass. PLUS a free 30 tier pass with tons of fan favorite items available whenever. This is on TOP of the, what, 8 of 9 cores?? And there instantly unlocked fantastic cross core helmets and shoulders.
If you start this game, at any point in time, youre going to have hundreds of combinations to earn and choose from. At all times.
You'd have to play the ever living crap out of this game, to have run out of shit to unlock completely. And there is always more.
FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK, how much is in the store compared to everything I said, is IRRELEVANT. It is not remotely valid, to look at how much you get for free, and think it's not enough because of the damn ratio. As if you went into a store, they offered you all this shit for free, but because you can't have the ENTIRE store for free, you throw a fit and throw all the free crap back in their face? Tell me how that makes sense.
Expecting everything to be earnable, is not financially viable. Why? Because the most dedicated players, are the players most likely to want to spend money on this game. If they can get the ludicrous amount of free stuff, while earning all the store items on the way, where does 343 ever make money off of them? And then making money, IS IMPORTANT to US too. So we can get more support for the game. Microsoft being rich, does not justify expecting them to not make money off of freaking halo of all things. This isn't a charity, they ain't our buddies.
Wanna know why mcc doesn't get major updates anymore?? Because everytime they tried to do something to actually monetize, despite ALL the free content and continued free content (they always said in each and every plan they came up with, never would a single piece of actual gameplay ever be paid) , players threw a collective fit at the very idea. There was no real incentive what so ever, if you played the game on an even semi consistent basis, to buy anything.
And guess what happens when the player base isn't exceptionally high, the game isn't selling copies anymore, and the monetization is nigh non existent with no incentive to actually pay for anything? They don't make money.
This is a free to play game. Expecting them to never tempt you into buying a freaking cosmetic, is unacceptable behavior. It's beyond entitled and it's BAD for players and the game as a whole.
Halo infinite has one of the LEAST manipulative, least pushy, best possible free to play models I've ever seen. There is no paid content, there is no paid power boosts or anyway to get s leg up what so ever by spending money.
Being able to earn everything in the store, only works when people are paying up front, AND they make it grindy enough where even the most hardcore players want to spend money anyway. And every game that DOES let you earn almost all the stuff, hell divers 2 comes to mind, you ALREADY paid 40 or 70 bucks upfront. ( I love helldiver's 2, I'm not saying what they are doing is inherently wrong, I'm just comparing as they are compared by others disengenguously) ORR you can pay for actual gameplay upgrades and improvements to your character that give you a leg up earlier than others. Way earlier. I do not think people would want that at all for halo, even if it meant everything was earnable. That's not viable for this type of game.
Which is enough to buy every single battlepass and then some on top of all the free crap in infinite. On TOP of the fact games like hell divers allow you to get SIGNIFICANT Power upgrades that effect gameplay, by spending money. In the past this would have been seen as unacceptable to the same group of people who would complain about a cosmetic store simply existing in a free to play game.
Being able to skip dozens of hours of grinding for actual upgrades, is still a form of pay to win. If me and my friend start the game at the same time, and I spend extra money off the bat and just buy everything, I will be ahead of him by hours and hours and hours.
Halo does not have the "luxury" to sell content like that. They ain't making the bandit something you either buy, or grind a dozen hours for.

2024.05.04 23:31 BeeSea3108 Really old dad jokes, a small assortment. You probably have to be old to get these.

What do you get when you cross Lee Iococca and Count Dracula?
Autoexec.bat.
What do OJ Simpson's getaway vehicle and Peyton Manning have in common?
They were both a slow white Broncos.
How did Katy Winters die?
Frozen Armpits (this one is really a reach).
Did you hear that the Florida Orange Juice commission offered Mr. Simpson a million dollars to change his first name to "Snapple?"
How do you get OJ's picture to show up on your computer?

2024.05.03 21:05 WormyWormGirl It's time to go beast mode

It's time to go beast mode
https://preview.redd.it/8jkmumghx8yc1.png?width=928&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb536a074d20f3f3d01e05f1e020977761d6857f
Beast has gotten a few updates lately that have changed it from bar none the worst line in the game to something worth considering! It no longer gets the (previously awful, now interesting) bat wings mutation, and has diverged enough from the other lines that it's really got its own thing going on. Since the wiki is gone, I felt like throwing together a quick guide to the mutation line now that it's been so heavily updated.
The screenshot attached is its full mutation list, including all the negatives. Realistically you won't get all the red ones, but I've included them just for consideration. The beast here had 8/8/8/8 stats and no traits to begin with.
Beast is a solid choice for people who want to play a character who focuses on melee but don't want to specialize as hard as lupine, ursine, or feline. You can sort of consider it the middle point between all three - not excelling at any one thing, but able to do a bit of it all with its own perks to boot. It also has the insanely strong, resilient, and deft traits, making it all around solid in combat. Deft in particular is one of those traits that seems like no big deal (its stated purpose is to reduce move cost when you miss an attack) but has a bunch of hidden bonuses that make it way better than it is on paper. It reduces stamina cost of misses, helps with skating, stealing items off of people, prevents stumbling, and probably some other stuff.
STATS: Apex Predator reduces your intelligence by 3 and Forgetful worsens skill rust, but Apex Predator triples XP regain on any combat skills which are not your highest skill. This means you'll have no problem maintaining your combat skills even when they get very highs. You can offset the int hit with a coprocessor CBM (+1 int), high starting intelligence, or alpha/cephalopod/slime mutagen, but it might be a good idea to get your skills and especially your weakpoint proficiencies trained up before you mutate.
BROAD PAWS: People have serious misconceptions about paws. They do come with mandatory hand encumbrance (20, which is about like wearing armored gauntlets), but hand encumbrance is not nearly as big of a deal as people think it is, and importantly, it doesn't have a linear effect on things that require the use of hands. It does slow crafting speed to 73% - not ideal, but you can earn 10% back just by having a large plastic sheet in your backpack, and you get another 5% for every NPC you have helping you craft. NPCs can now be instructed to craft stuff all by themselves, so for a lot of tasks you can just delegate.
GUNS: The main thing that paws is going to do is slow down your gun reloading time, making it take 37% longer (just the reloading part, not retrieving the magazine). You can of course compensate for this with high-capacity guns, turrets, and things like mag pouches to reduce item retrieval time. Since gun and marksmanship are combat skills, you'll have no problem training them
QUADRUPED: Because of broad paws and digitigrade legs, when crouching with your hands free, you move slightly faster than full speed. When running with your hands free, you move much faster. This test character was walking at 95 moves/step, crouching at 90 moves/step, and running at 45 moves/step. Characters who are in quadruped mode are harder to hit with ranged attacks and shrapnel, and are hidden by adjacent furniture, just like a normal character who crouches. This makes you way stealthier, as you're frequently breaking line of sight as you go around murdilating zombies, though allergies, smelly, and screamer will occasionally conspire to foil your plans.
NATURAL WEAPONS: This is going to be the main draw of the line. Beast gets fangs, claws, and quills. Fangs under the new system now sometimes replace your attack, especially if you're in quadruped mode (you'll be able to tell because you'll have the Natural Stance effect) or while being grabbed, provided you're attacking your grabber. Fangs are unaffected by grabs or damage to your arms and for a beast with all the mutations will do around 30 stab damage, or 40-60 on a crit, depending on unarmed skill level. Quills will do 8-20 stab damage when things attack you, provided you're unarmored on the body part they try to hit. This even works when you dodge! Claws add 9 cut damage to your hand-based attacks, and this does include martial arts specials.
These attacks are all quite fast and values are on the lower side, meaning you'll want some extra juice to deal with kevlar and bone enemies. Weakpoints work just fine for this, but keeping something like a mace handy for melee combat also works just fine.
DEFENSES: This is where things get iffy. You get 2 free bash armor from dense bones, but sleek fur is not one of the better armor mutations, and you want to be unarmored in order to take advantage of your quills. Being medium-sized, you can wear normal armor, but your hands and face are restricted, so favorites like the activity suit (not as good as it seems) are out. You do get a passive +2 dodge from your Combat Adaptation (it's supposed to be an active mutation but it's currently broken and is just on all the time with no cost), but you don't get any other traits that help with dodging. If you can manage to snag long tail and whiskers from another line (rat, feline, or lupine) you'll be in good shape here. You can still wear an XL Faraday Chainmail suit, but losing out on quills is not ideal. OTOH you have a bunch of extra HP from Resilience and you don't care about the cold, so you could just stay naked.
LIFESTYLE: Not as it seems, but still warrants attention. In exchange for great stamina regen, you need double the normal amount of food and can only eat meat. Sapiovore means you don't care about killing innocents or eating human flesh, which means that until ferals die off, they're a steady source of food. After that, your best bet is to start a faction camp and send your allies on hunting trips, as you are one of the few carnivores that can't eat more than ~600kcal of mutant meat without getting sick. The expanded digestive system is an option here, but it will lock you out of Apex Predator and Sapiovore if you don't get them first.
A hidden problem with metabolism mutations is that their extra calorie costs factor into the extra calories you burn on big crafting/building jobs. The intention of course is that you live more like an animal and stop trying to forge tempered plate mail, because you're a dog or whatever and that's not what dogs do. Just go out and bite stuff.
BIONICS: Being a mutant does not mean you can't use bionics. Some great ones here are subdermal carbon filament (free armor that won't mess with your fuquills), Offensive Defensive System (stacks with your quills to really hurt stuff that tries to attack you), diamond cornea, cerebral booster, and wired reflexes (stat buffs are always nice. Cerebral booster will fix your stupidness and the other two will raise your crit chance), air filtration and capacitance (allows you to totally ignore smoke, gas, and electricity without any gear), and hydraulic muscles. An 8/8/8/8 character who goes full Beast and gets muscle boost and hydraulic muscles has 37 strength. That's enough to regularly do over 100 damage with a standard mace, and certainly higher with stronger weapons. You can get another 2 bash armor from titanium skeletal bracing. That works out to still be single-digit armor values even with dense bones, sleek fur, and carbon filament, but it's better than nothing.
SOCIAL: Beasts hate being around people and will get a stacking mood penalty for hanging out with allies. They're also so scary that most random NPCs will flip hostile or try to flee when they meet one. You can get around this by starting a faction camp and using NPCs you met before becoming a beast (or recruited via quests, like the merc or the beggars at the refugee center) to go out and recruit people while your beast stays behind. OTOH you have a massive intimidate score, so even if you're dumb as rocks and have low social, you can often get people to do what you want.
BUGS: Apex Predator is supposed to prevent focus loss from training combat skills, but it currently doesn't. OTOH Combat Adaptation (+2 dodge, +10% move speed) gives you its bonus even when it's off. So there's one strike for and against. This isn't quite a bug, but I had intended to give muzzle mutations more powerful fang attacks before I stopped contributing. Someone could still do that, but until it gets done, the fangs will be a bit lackluster.
Overall I'd say beast is not OP like chimera, but it's a lot easier to live with. You are sort of a glass cannon, but if you are smart with your build and get good at dodging, you can do some really interesting stuff. In the endgame, quills probably falls off enough that you want to start using at least some armor, but until then you're in a pretty good spot. It's probably strictly worse than feline or lupine, and could maybe use a bit of love, but for that to happen people need to go check it out.

2024.05.03 20:07 vocatus [BATCH] Java Runtime Nuker - purge EVERY version of Java Runtime from a machine (excludes JDK)

Bottom line: "Gotta catch 'em all"
If a JRE manages to squeak through, post here or PM me and I'll update the script to catch it.
UPDATE 2024-04-30: I am still actively maintaining this script and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. PM me if you have any problems with it.
Because of inconsistencies in Sun/Oracle's installation methods and naming conventions, there's no "one way" to purge every outdated Java Runtime from a machine, so I spent ~15 ~18 ~23 hours collecting various methods of removing Java and integrated them into a single script. This should give you a "clean slate" to work with for laying down new versions of Java.
--> Download from Github here <<----
Notes:
  • Removes all versions of the Java Runtime Environment (series 3 through 11), x86 and x64
  • Will catch future updates to JRE 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11+
  • Checks WMI before running, repairs if broken
  • Searches for residual registry keys, backs them up, then deletes them*
  • Searches for residual files and directories and deletes them
  • Removes the Java Quickstarter and Java Updater services
  • Leaves all Java Development Kit installations intact
  • Writes a logfile to C:\Logs\_java_runtime_removal.log (configurable)
If you have additional methods that work for you, please post them below or do a PR on Github. If they catch something the script misses, I will integrate them. Critique and advice welcome.
*Registry cleanup is skipped on Windows XP. This is because of differences in the reg.exe binary on XP. If anyone can look at how to search the Windows XP registry for leftover keys, I can integrate it into the script, but right now that section is skipped.

2024.05.03 10:48 Nifegun Best first 99?

Recently got into OSRS and I'm considering trying to max some skills, I'm only at combat 55, so I don't have any huge boss money available to me, however by scouring the wiki I've been able to make money while skilling in a few different ways and have a few mill available. But I'm trying to figure out what would be the best first 99 that is achievable with just a few mill GP and would help with getting other things in the game done.
Right off the bat I'm thinking crafting, I've worked out a positive GP/XP rate that should only take me about 30 hours from where I'm at. Which would add another couple mill to the cash stack. The crafting cape gets me access to the crafting guild bank + teleports to said bank. That seems very helpful for obvious reasons.
But getting construction maxed unlocks teleports to pretty much the entire game, which is the biggest playtime efficiency boost for literally everything, however its simply too expensive to do fast strats when starting with only a few mill GP. (granted, you can build the portal room with the smaller portals and just use a bunch of them instead of the super fancy one you can load with a ton of teleports, but that's just not as cool.
The other thing I'm trying to consider is just working on maxing a skill that is all profit like thieving or runecrafting. Because although there's no playtime efficiency in the way of teleports, (that im aware of) I'd then have the cash to simply buy all the buyable skills to 99.
Really just looking for ideas, what you guys have done, etc. Any input is helpful at this point. But side note, the crafting guild bank being locked behind 99 crafting or falador hard diary is SUCH BS. I got so excited when I got into the crafting guild, then was a bit sus when I saw no other players there, then immediately realized its because you can't use the bank. What good is a crafting guild without a bank? It could be so useful as a place to grind out your crafting skill IF AND ONLY IF YOU COULD USE THE BANK BEFORE 99! ughghg, anyway, help me pick a skill to grind, and let me know if that bank is useful beyond crafting 99, aside from just being a bank really close to a free teleport. I mean I guess you could mine gold and silver and bank that quickly, which could be could for blast furnacing, but then what do you do with that gold and silver since you're already past 99 crafting? seems silly lol.

LotI help! Ancient Lich, Arch Necromancer, or Demilich?
I got the crazy cat lady from the wizard duel. What should I advance her to? Any suggestions? I usually trial and error jobs, but since she’s a unique unit I thought I’d ask.

2024.05.01 09:08 MasterpieceJealous48 [ANDROID][2015] A topdown 2D rpg game I probably just dreamed of, because I can't find any trace of it at all

Platform(s): Android
Genre: 2D top down rpg
Estimated year of release: 2015 (I have no idea if this is actually correct, but considering it's an indie game on android that I played a few years ago, it is probably around that year)
Graphics/art style: 8bit pixel graphics, looked similar to gurk
Notable characters: Spider queen/mother spider (a side boss in a forest section), some evil guy in a tower (a midboss preventing you from entering some corrupted/decayed forest), some fairy (I think a secret fairy spring could be found where a fairy would reward you if you defeated some side boss
Notable gameplay mechanics: Combat is based on cast times; when you enter combat against a monster, both of you get to choose any of your skills, which then appear on the side with a charging bar representing how long a buff lasts (such as blocking) or how long till an attack is executed. When enemies are defeated they grant you gold and xp, once you get enough xp you level up, granting you skill points, allowing you to invest in new skills. I think there were 4 categories of skills: elemental, physical (martial), dark magic and one other I don't remember. The only specific skill I remember was a vampirism one, probably belonging in the dark magic category. Gold could be used for an inn, restoring your hp and mana (or at least I think there was mana), and I think you could also use it to buy items (probably armor, weapon or consumables, once again, I don't remember much about this, I relied heavily on vampirism for sustain, though I know I had to go to an inn at some point so there must have been some limit, such as mana), you start the game in a cell inside a cave filled with rats, with some dialogue telling you that you should get out of there. When you exit you enter a forest section, a bit away from the cave is a town. there were multiple sections in the game, each with a town, and once you went further into a new section you couldn't come back. I think the sections were forest, desert, frontier? and corrupted forest. Pretty sure each section had some optional side quest. The forest was infestes with spiders, led by a spider queen. The desert... I have no idea. As for the frontier, there was some fairy sprinf there, I think, which would grant you some blessing? Inbetween the frontier and corrupted forest was a tower with some midboss guarding the way to a corrupted forest (idk if there was some portal there, it just transported you to the corrupted forest after you beat the boss) Various sections had different enemies. I think forest had spiders and wolves, desert had scorpions and bandits, frontier had ogres, orcs or cyclops (idk if all of them or only 1, it was some big humanoid monster) and corrupted forest had demon-like monsters (beholders and stuff like that)
Other details: Not sure if this is okay to mention, since there is a rule that there should be only 1 game per post, but the dev had one more game where you played as an archer defending the left side of the screen against bats, using money from the waves of bats to upgrade how fast you shoot, how much dmg you deal, etc.

2024.05.01 01:03 NovercaIis Story Progression and Logic or lack of (depending on you)

So I was reading this post:
https://www.reddit.com/BaldursGate3/comments/1739v9z/waukeens_rest_is_a_bit_poorly_timed_storywise/
Honestly, as a D&D enthusiast, in a real D&D game, you don't know the map and all the potential side quests. You are focus on whats in front of you and are unable to "clear everything" a DM has set up.
While I understand the gist of the OP in that post above - you need to RP with a time sensativity. There are specific "routes" in mind. Sure you can choose to play however you want - it is D&D but storyline wise - if you get rid of your murderhobo tendacies and the desire to min/max the XP in the game these are the path set before you. hence many posts complains how the game becomes to easy after X level, because your maximizing the XP and out leveling the combat. It's okay to skip portions - the game has a very robust story w/ consequences and new cutscenes if you simply skipped certain things.
The Grove is just a hub with many quest to alter your direction. With that said the main story focus off the bat is finding a cure. You should feel a sense of Urgency & RP that you don't have time to do everything.
LAEZEL:
Shadowheart / Wyll
  • Seeks to find cure, distrust the Gith. If you decide to side with her
  • You learn about Nettie from the tieflings outside the gate
  • Wyll tells you about Nettie
  • She is against telling Auntie about the condition
  • nettie tells you Halsin should be able to help
  • Save Halsin - doesnt have to do anything with saving the tiefling or stopping the ritual
Astarion
  • Once in the grove - he's all for telling Auntie about the tadpole situation and takes up on her fix
  • He's against helping the Tiefling & is more open about learning the power of the tadpole, so not too focus on a cure. How you wish to proceed with your TAV and Him as the main focal point is entirely up to you. Noble or Evil.
Gale / Karlach
Then there is Gale... he's just happy to be free from that portal & doesnt care which way to get cure, as long as he is fed magical items as the main priority.
Karlach more concern kicking ass and slaying devils and keeping her health up. A cure is just icing to her.
so to all you who have had 2-3-4-5 playthrough. Don't clear everything, Don't focus too much on RPing your TAV but focus on RP together with 1 of the core companion with a sense of Urgency.
If you're gonna do Lae'zel, Skip the hag, the Goblins, the ritual... Try to win the battles now. You're not gonna have X,Y,Z items, and resources - thus dramatically changing the playthrough & Difficulty.
It's ok if u wanna do everything but, can't complain about things not making sense when your not suppose to hit every single note.

2024.04.30 22:41 guyboner Why does mini-seasons go out of it's way to waste your time?

who TF needs to see the names of the umpires in a cut scene??? why do i need to see the batter talk to his bat every time i get a K... WHY WHY WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
i can only assume it's such a legit way to get XP and packs that SDS added these delays and frustrations on purpose... no reason this 1 aspect of DD should not only disregard your fast-play settings, but also go out of it's way to waste your time as often as possible

2024.04.30 15:45 BenjaminSkanklin Nobody asked but IDC: Stuff I've learned and wished I knew sooner over 40 hours as a new player/first time with Fallout

  1. The game is not linear with quests, you'll have access to stuff that you're nowhere near strong enough to pursue right off the bat, especially with the new update. Quick save before battles and just cut and run if you can't handle it. Speaking of the update, it's fairly glitchy and it seems to get worse when doing the new quests. Closing out the game and restarting seems to help quite a bit.
  2. Take everything you can, all the time, and find a place to sell it/store it if you don't want to keep it. Ammo is always 0 weight, take it all, all the time, even if you don't have a gun that needs it. Upgrade weapons as soon as you can and keep a roster of at least 3 of your strongest with different types of ammo, but mind the weight. You can store a boatload of stuff in a tool box at Sanctuary and it'll be there when you come back, and also the workbench when it becomes available. Watch some quick YT videos on lockpicking and terminal hacking, it's not really intuitive but it's absolutely necessary to master
  3. Finding money/ammo early can be tough, you need ammo to make it through fights so make it a priority. Start a water racket as early as you can, money will be irrelevant once you get that going. There's plenty of guides on how it works, and guides on what you can easily obtain early on. Establishing fast travel to settlements with stores is key early on, getting to them the first time at low level is often not easy but again, just cut and run and quick save.
  4. Always have a companion, some are better than others, but work through them until you get their perks, and start early. Look up what they like and jot it down to dictate how you handle situations with them by your side to make it go faster.
  5. Pursue side quests first, the mainline story is actually kinda short and side quests will level you up faster to be able to deal with it. Pick and choose your perks, if you can't decide just upgrade your SPECIAL level. Some perks are very helpful early, but then become irrelevant relatively quickly i.e. cap scrounging aids after you get your water operation going. Idiot Savant helps a lot and never stops helping.
  6. Take a minute to learn the settlement system - supply lines etc. Like many things in this game, it's way deeper than what the game will show you/give you a tutorial on. Building stuff takes practice, learn to use foundations and stairs. You can either scrap or store anything you built, scrap is a net loss on material and store does not give you the XP again. You can equip weapons and armor on your settlers and companions, give yourself the best option you have and then distribute the rest if it's an upgrade over what they're carrying. Companions need ammo to burn through, settlers just need 1 bullet for the gun you give them.
  7. Cook and craft with your raw materials often. Raw food will restore health but also give you rads, cooked food does not. Keep an eye on your inventory and store stuff you don't need in the near future, stimpacks are 0 weight so have as many as you can, everything else will bog you down and you won't ever really need 20 bottles of Nuka Cola.
  8. It's a great game with a great community, people will answer your questions but there's a good chance someone already asked 5 years ago. There's more than one way to skin a Mole Rat, as it were. Have fun with it, sometimes the bugs are part of the charm :)
