2024.05.19 18:18 GreenEyeliner13 Unrealistic Vacay?

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck and breast lift/augmentation on June 3. My husband and I have a Disney cruise scheduled for us and our kids that leaves out on July 5. Is it unrealistic to think I will be well enough to go? We can always postpone to fall break- just wanted to get some thoughts from folks with experience. It won’t hurt my feelings if the group thinks I’m being a bit over ambitious- I promise. I teach high school so it takes a lot to hurt my feelings. Lol. Thanks friends!
*adding that I just had a hysterectomy in March and went back to work after a few days. I’m young, healthy, had two very easy unmedicated births, a gastric sleeve in 2022, and I think I can tolerate a fairly good amount of pain. (I know births do not compare to this whatsoever- just thinking of pain tolerance)

2024.05.19 16:09 Moonbeam0773 When did you find you could stop needing or taking your pain meds?

I am 5 days post op from tummy tuck and lipo around my waist and upper thighs. Everything is bruised, hurts and feels tight like a rubber band (especially around my lower stomach). I take Percocet every 6 hours and muscle relaxer every 8. Also have phenegran to take for nausea. I am supposed to go back to work in 2 days ( this will be a full 6 days out and job is remote). So I’m hoping to be less reliant on these pain relievers to function. How was everyone’s experience with weaning off the pharmaceuticals and just relying on OTC like advil? When did you feel (or how many days post op) like wow I finally turned a corner pain wise? Is the end in sight? I still look awful in my eyes but from the feedback on here, that just takes plenty of time. Thanks all for sharing on here, it’s been so helpful!

2024.05.19 03:17 Anaphylactic_Cock I (29M) am covered in stretch marks and scars and it's really hurt my confidence, especially when it comes to dating.

So basically, I was very overweight for most of my teens and 20s. I'm 6'1 and went from 265 to 147 pounds very quickly and I ended up with a tons of VERY visible purple stretch marks and loose skin. I ended up having a tummy tuck to get rid of the skin and it was definitely life changing but I have so many stretch marks and scars from the many other surgeries I've had in my life.
I have really fair skin so it's very noticable on me. They are on my stomach, hips, groin, legs, chest, arms and back. I probably have about 50 stretch marks plus another 8 surgical scars.
It really bothers me because I've now spent years weightlifting and sculpting an athletic physique but being covered in scars really takes away from it.
It has definitely hurt my confidence in dating because an ex of mine constantly tore me down about how she hated them and that really stuck with me after we broke up. Although no one else I've ever been with has said anything negative, I just know it looks really bad and I'm not quite sure how to get past this mental block.
Maybe I'm overestimating how much women actually care about this so I'm hoping I can get some opinions/advice from people here. I have tried countless creams and other treatments but nothing has worked for me. They have never faded or anything.

2024.05.18 05:37 Adorable-Tooth-462 Panicked over how long it might take to stand up straight again. 1 wk po. Still hunched over with hands on thighs. Does lying flatter to sleep help this process safely?

Needing encouragement please!
I’m feeling sad and claustrophobic. I can’t imagine dealing with this for as many weeks as some people say they did—up to 8 weeks before upright! I was apprehensive about surgery itself so I did no research on the tummy tuck hunching issue.
Currently sleeping with foam blocks which keep me in a reclining position with flexed knees. Have to stay reclined because of breast augmentation. Could I safely remove the block under my knees to sleep with flat legs?
I’m having emotional problems as it is due to unrelated emotional stressors and this is just compounding my anxiety.

2024.05.18 05:37 Agreeable_Block_6642 Valium and oxycodone

23f, 5’1 125lbs recently undergone tummy tuck procedure Currently on a mix of meds, extra strength Tylenol, gabipentan, oxycodone, colase, I probably butchered all these spellings lol
So I’m trying not to panic, I was told to take a 5mg oxy for breakthrough pain which I did around 6-6:30
Then on my pain management sheet it said to take a 5mg diazepam at 11. Which I also did. Now I see they have serious interactions and I’m terrified I’m going to die in my sleep, am I gonna be okay!! I wish they would have told me they interact. I wouldn’t have taken it but it’s on my pain management sheet so I should uld be okay rigjt!??

2024.05.17 23:25 rbrill9213 1 year post-op.

31, male. I’ll put a before and after picture in a comment to this post! Overall, I'm very happy with the results, and would opt to undergo the procedure again. Feel free to ask me anything, but some additional thoughts and comments below:
The Procedure.
I had a full 360 tummy tuck with liposuction and muscle repair. Following the procedure I stayed in the hospital for one night. They had me up and walking around within a few hours of waking up. I don't remember being in too much pain (or much of anything from that day) - the meds were strong. I went home the next morning via car.
Recovery.
I purchased an electronic reclining chair prior to surgery, and I found it to be very helpful in staying comfortable. I utilized a "potty chair" that essentially fits over the toilet to make utilizing the bathroom easier. This was a lifesaver for me and I would recommend getting one prior to your procedure. The chair could also be set in the shower, which made that process much easier too. I had 2 drains that exited my body through my groin. They were definitely uncomfortable, and they came out about 2 weeks post-op. The removal was very easy and painless - though does create a strange sensation. I wore a compression binder for about 6-8 weeks. After that, I wore some compression garments from Marena. I continued wearing the compression garments for approximately 6 months as it kept the swelling from becoming too uncomfortable. In my opinion, you cannot undergo this procedure without having someone there to help you for at least a few weeks post-op. Be sure to treat that person with grace - you're probably being very needy/annoying, and they're a saint.
Complications.
I was allergic to the surgical tape and broke out in an extreme rash about 2 weeks after surgery. The rash devolved into a yeast infection on the skin and I had to use a medicated powder to treat it. It took about 2 weeks for that to clear. I developed a seroma in my back about 3 weeks after surgery. I went to see my surgeon every few days to have it drained. Draining the seroma was not painful, and it was completely gone after 5-6 treatments. I had several wounds pop up on the right side of my incision. YOUR WOUNDS WILL HEAL. Read that again. At one point I had 9 areas that were open, and they took about 6 months to finally close. It's mentally taxing dealing with wounds, so be kind to yourself. I used silvadine on the areas that opened, silver alginate dressings, and various bandaids to keep them covered.
Today.
I still swell in the lower part of my abdomen, and it happens most days. However, it's nothing compared to the swelling you might experience post-operatively and for several months afterwards. SWELLING IS NORMAL - YOU WILL BE (VERY) SWOLLEN. Because of the issues I had with healing, the right side of my incision is darker than the rest and a bit bigger. My surgeon is currently lasering that area to lighten the scar, and it's helped significantly. At some point, I may decide to undergo a scar revision, but it doesn't bother me too much. The area underneath my belly button is still numb, along with the outer part of both my thighs. I'm back in the gym, able to run, cycle, and lift like I could pre-op. Prior to surgery, I weighed 193 pounds. Today, I weigh 195 pounds.
For The Guys.
To the men in this group - the swelling and bruising will naturally migrate to your junk. Seriously. I was black and blue for probably a month in that area following my procedure. Eventually, it will return to normal. I found that a jockstrap was the best underwear following surgery - it makes using the bathroom very easy as you don't have to fiddle with a waistband. It also provides additional support and helps to reduce the swelling and bruising in that area. Marena makes a compression brief that works well once you're into that phase of your recovery, and you can wear it like any other pair of underwear.
Summary.
This procedure is no joke, and the recovery process is long. I dealt with several post-surgical complications, couldn't fully care for myself the first few weeks, and still swell. If I had known at the time what was in store for me post-operatively, I'd still choose to undergo the procedure. I can sit down without my skin falling over my pants, my clothes fit how they're supposed to, I don't have to yank my jeans up and over my skin, and I feel more confident in myself. Ultimately, it feels like this was the last step in ridding myself of the old (300+ pound) me. I would encourage you, if you're on the fence, to get the surgery.

2024.05.17 22:27 Bubbly_Cobbler936 Tummy tuck

I’m new to this sub but I have been following R since her town home days before being engaged. I truly don’t believe she hasn’t had a tummy tuck or lipo. I am laughing at a lot of what’s in these threads because I have felt the same since I stumbled across her page on IG. The thing that shocks me the most is she cheated 😂😂😂😂 like I’m sorry but I can’t even imagine that. 😂😂😂

2024.05.17 21:43 AloeVeraaaa_ Will Jplasma/renuvion on my arms during lipo help the skin or make it worse

I am getting my 3rd surgery June 7th. This surgery is Lipo360 only with Arm Lipo. The Dr. recommended Jplasma but idk if it’s even worth it for my arms. I am scheduled to get a BL/Aug and possibly an arm lift in 6 months at the same facility but just a different doctor but idk if I really want the arm lift bc of the scarring…..
Background: I was 240 lbs almost 4 years ago and lost 80 lbs and have been between 160-170 the last two years. I previously had Lipo360/BBL with Jplasma on my stomach in 2021, but it left skin - BC I had sooo many stretchmarks on my stomach from gaining so much weight over my life so idk if it helped. I think it did a little but I have no clue how to compare it to my arms situation. Because of the skin on my stomach, I had gotten a tummy tuck last year.
Bc of all of this my arms are bigger so I want them lipo’d with my back and waist. Do you think Jplasma might help? Anyone have it done on their arms? Idk if it’ll make it look worse after the arm lipo and leave me with bat wings of skin which I REALLY don’t want. Also - for the arm lipo they aren’t going to take all the fat out my arms bc I just want them to look medium so my arms can look more equal to my body size and it will not be so obvious I had surgeries. The limit in Florida is 4L of fat during lipo so I want like maybe 1L (2-3 lbs) of fat from my arms and the other 3 from my waist and back.
Think it may help??? Idk I just want it to help a little and not look all bumpy from the back like it does now or have excessive loose skin so I don’t have to an arm lift

2024.05.17 12:24 Aussie_introvert Need help finding jeans for my unusual situation!

Thought I posted this earlier but it seems to have disappeared…
I’m working through some medical issues which have me bloated all the time. I’m 5ft with skinny arms and legs, no bum and a chunky middle but look pregnant all the time.
The jeans I currently have are designed to slim my jiggly bits, however the pressure on my stomach makes me feel sick so I have to tuck them under my tummy bulge, which then makes them slouch around my bum and fall down over time.
It’s getting chilly so looking for advice on jeans to suit! Thanks in advance. Btw, not looking for advice on my medical issues, it’s being worked through- just trying to be warm and comfortable in the meantime!

2024.05.16 19:28 Some_Trip_172 Anyone having trouble losing weight after surgery?

Just wanted to reach out and get your thoughts on this.
Don't have actual data but just my feelings/opinion off of my experience.
I feel like I've always been able to lose weight fairly easily when I was younger. I got down to 160lbs and doctor convinced me that I was young enough (27) that my skin would retract and I just needed lipo on my lil pudge.
After having lipo on my belly and back I started to gain weight for different reasons. Busy. Lack of exercise. Bad diet. Etc ... But when I did try to lose weight it was always just harder than before.
Reached 230lbs after having my baby and got down to 190 before getting a full tummy tuck, and lipo. I am so happy for the results.
My A1C is up. I am considered prediabetic. And I am on meds to try to reduce my appetite to lose weight. My appetite is down and I am definitely eating less but not losing weight.
I am 34 now and the small things I used to do before to lose weight no longer have the same impact.
Does ur body not function correctly no more because you got lipo? Hear me out. I hear brown fat cells is what keeps ur metabolism up. Slowly more information is coming out and maybe fat should be looked at as an "organ" with certain functions. I literally just lipoed necessary pieces of my body and now my body doesn't have the same metabolism?
Vitamin D levels are low around 19. My A1C levels are at 5.7.
I love my new body. But has anyone experienced something similar? Do you feel that ur body just can't lose weight? Or something is different. I've also noticed I gain weight everywhere else except the lipo areas but I think everyone knows that.
Any scientific explanation would be appreciated.

2024.05.16 18:30 eunicemothman How does one pick boob size?

Hi! I have my consult coming up in about a month but I'm just curious.
I'm 5ft 1 and weight 130lbs. I'm guessing about 20ish lbs of loose skin. I'm getting a tummy tuck, mons lift and implants but, I lost over 150lbs and had been that size for decades. I'm not even sure what would look proportional on me.
Is there like a height to weight to boob ratio? I had big boobs all my life and it was awful back pain but now they are absolutely EMPTY. It's insane!

2024.05.16 16:48 getottohere If you did NOT have MR, can I see your before and afters?

Here’s where I’m at, between losing a lot of weight and having kids my stomach is wrecked. I definitely need muscle repair and lipo would definitely help but frankly? I cannot afford all of it without having to finance part of it and I just don’t want to do that right now, I also don’t want to have to wait even longer to have surgery. I can afford a basic tummy tuck without all the fuss though and while it’s not what’s being recommended, it is an option available to me.
I’m not concerned about having a flat as a board stomach, as long as it’s flatter than it is now and I frankly don’t care a whit if I have some rolls on my back or while sitting down. I just want the extra skin on my stomach gone. I look like I have a huge gut no matter what I do and I’m so sick of it. I’ve been told to look into it more and decide if I’d be happy with just having a tummy tuck. I feel like I can always have a revision later on and do MR and lipo then if need be but honestly I think I’d be just as pleased with just having the skin gone and a flatter stomach in general. I have a nice shape even with the extra skin so I’m not particularly worried about that but I also can’t find a ton of examples of skin only tummy tucks. Can I see yours if you had just the TT? Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 09:33 insleepmode Tummy tuck alternative?

I got liposuction on my belly done and the surgeon consultant did tell me I would need tummy tuck or I won't have the flat tummy I want. I didn't have the money for it at the time and also thought I might not need it. I still don't think I require a tummy tuck, there is just some skim that's noticeable when I bend etc. Is there any mini procedure to get rid of that and make my skin tighter without having to go through a tt?

2024.05.16 08:53 Relative-Addendum650 Slow but progress

Slow but progress
I started my journey on Jan 9th. I work from home and went from 135 to 185 in the last 2 years. I started at .25 for 4 weeks. And have increased slowly to 1. I am currently at 144 but feel like I lost a TON of inches. The only problem is when I turn to the side. My stomach looks like it’s pouting with the extra skin. I know I need to tone and was thinking about a tummy tuck but I also heard if I do that I would have to stop taking it. #firstworldproblems I was able to crowdsurf at Rockville and didn’t seen strain or the “oh crap” look on peoples faces when they saw me coming. So THATS a win.

2024.05.16 08:18 littledreamyone I recently had major abdominal surgery and had to stop taking Ozempic. At what dose should I start taking it again?

I was discharged from a week long stay in the hospital yesterday. I stopped taking Ozempic about 3 weeks ago. I was on 0.75.
I tried to ask my doctors what to do about my dose but they couldn’t give me any answers.
Should I start again at 0.25 for 4 weeks, or at 0.5 for 4 weeks? Or jump straight back in at 0.75?
My appetite has come back in full force but my capacity to eat big meals is limited. My stomach has definitely shrunk over the 10ish months I’ve been on Ozempic.
Overall I’ve lost 45kg. My surgeon doesn’t want me to lose any weight while I’m in recovery… I’m afraid if I start taking Ozempic again that I won’t be able to prevent losing weight because my appetite will be suppressed.
I want to lose another 10-15kg. For reference I had a large umbilical hernia repair and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
For the first 4 days after surgery I was on a liquid diet but I am back on solid food. I think this is all of the relevant information.
Please be lenient on me, I am on strong pain killers.
I hope everyone is having a great day!

2024.05.16 07:13 ItchyCup2626 Umbilicoplasty

Has anyone gotten this procedure before? I have been trying to search but have not found much information on it. I have always had a horizontal belly button, but being pregnant made it worse - plus I had a piercing there which left a nasty scar after pregnancy. I don’t have much loose skin and am not unhappy with my belly, just my belly button. I don’t want a tummy tuck - I just want my belly button to be reshaped to be vertical and to minimize/get rid of the stretched out piercing scar I have. I am also having trouble finding a doctor that does this procedure in the Houston area, and the ones that I have found do not have many before/after pictures, and the ones that do did not look attractive to me. Please help!

2024.05.16 02:38 Moonbeam0773 While also getting a tummy tuck I got looo on stomach and outer thighs, will my thighs always look this weird?

Spelling error correction: I also "got lipo*" not looo
I just had a tummy tuck and liposuction on my stomach and outer thigh yesterday. Right now my outer thigh looks so awkward with the area right above the knee vs that area where the liposuction was done seems like an unnatural indention. Will this get better? will my whole leg eventuallylook normal without a dip up towards my upper outside thigh? Anyone else do both and it eventually looks natural leg all over? I'm overwhelmed

2024.05.16 01:11 PrincessPancreatitus Pain management after hysterectomy.

55F /150 pounds 5'3". I have a very complicated medical health history and I'm not sure how much this will pertain to my question, so in the interest of brevity, I'll leave it out but I'm happy to answer follow up questions.
I am scheduled to get a robotic assisted, laproscopic hysterectomy on Friday. I will likely stay in the hospital 1 night as I am high risk for clots/bleeding. 3 months ago, I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair and I am still experiencing muscle soreness and a lot of abdominal swelling. My abdomen is rock hard. I am unsure of how much this prior surgery will contribute to post operative pain.
My question- after this type of surgery is it common to prescribe just 3 days of narcotic pain meds? Even the pharmacy seemed very surprised that I'd get so few doses for a hysterectomy.
I don't have any problems with addiction, in fact I don't tolerate narcotics well at all and I have always weaned off of them for prior surgeries as soon as possible.
I realize that there is an opiod epidemic in the US, but I'm honestly terrified that I won't have the relief that I need. I tried discussing this with my doctor after he told me he'd prescribe just 2 days worth and he relented and gave me 3 days.
I have several family members who have had this surgery and a girl friend who recently recovered and they got weeks of pain relief. 3 days seems overly conservative to me and the thought that I may be in agony afterward with no relief is giving me terrible anxiety.
For the record, I have had open, abdominal surgery and several other surgeries and I have never been offered so little for pain relief.
I know that we all heal differently and pain tolerance differs from person to person, but I don't know if I should cancel the surgery so that I can find another surgeon.
I have called the nurses line to discuss this a few times and also met with my doctor yesterday. I feel like I am just a pain in the ass at this point and they are going to stop taking my concerns seriously, if they haven't already.
Am I out of line to expect better pain control? I will get 12 doses total. Is that realistically going to be enough? I may be able to spread those doses out to cover another day, but I feel like I shouldn't have to fight so hard to have my pain controlled?
Edited to add: I meant to say that I don't expect the same pain control as I'd get for an open, abdominal surgery, but thought that I'd at least be covered for a week or so.
Also, I am unable to take NSAIDs as I am on blood thinners.
