Graduated!! What happens next?

2024.05.28 20:27 Ok-Understanding-260 Graduated!! What happens next?

My now husband and I had a great wedding that justified all the hard work we had put in for the last year. Most things went off without a hitch with the exception of our seating chart devolving into a mess and some expected confusion of our guests during certain events.
I’m now looking for any tips you have for wrapping things up! This includes anything from how to and how much to tip vendors we think went above and beyond, how to get thank you cards out efficiently and with class, what to do with leftover decorations and especially our formal wear from the day, etc.
Some notes: for those who attended the wedding, we took photos with each of our guest tables and want to use those photos as their thank you cards. (This was the expected confusion/messiness but we’re hoping it was worth it!) We want to send regular thank you cards to those who were not in the photos/did not attend but sent us a gift/card. We are still waiting on those photos to be returned by our photographer. Our DJ did a great job but we ended up not using an hour of the time we booked them for. We want them to keep that money and put it towards their tip, is that reasonable? My husband and I have two formal outfits from the day: one is traditional “western” wear and the other is traditional clothes from the country of India (my husband is from India).
Thank you in advance!

2024.05.28 20:20 surprisebag06 Pre and Post-op workout and nutrition advice for Umbilical Hernia

Hi,
I am a 27 y/o female diagnosed with a small umbilical hernia in Feb 2024 - I am in very good, athletic shape. I coach and take fitness classes (HIIT, spin, yoga, barre) totaling about two hours of activity a day, every day). I was putting off getting the surgery as I rely heavily on my fitness career and taking the time off sucks, but the pain has been getting worse and I have started to modify in my own workouts and coaching now. I have the surgery scheduled for July 2024. Surgery is laparoscopic where she will close up the hernia and place a mesh.
I am looking for advice for both pre and post-op recovery as it seems there is not too much online for people in my demographic. I know most of these questions should go to my surgeon but she is, at this time, playing it safe just telling me to plan on being in LOTS of pain after...
My thoughts pre-op are to stay in tip top shape and keep up with full body exercises, working out up until the day before surgery (is working out the day before surgery a good idea, or do I take a rest day?). After surgery I am planning on taking 3 full weeks off of coaching. Can I be prepared to start getting back to body weight movement, spin, coaching classes without using weights, after the 3 weeks? Specifically with taking yoga classes, if anyone has advice, I anticipate a longer recovery but how long may that be? Think torso twisting movements, camel pose, etc.
And, I am wondering how should I be eating in preparation for surgery, and after? I track macros and not sure if I should be consuming the same as I would be for rest days or workout days while I recover (I use an app called Macrostax). I figure I won't be too hungry right after but should I be stocking up on tons of protein shakes, etc to ensure I am hitting my macros? I am not a stickler with nutrition but more so want to make sure I'm properly fueled to maximize recovery!
I would very much appreciate any advice from athletic folks who have gone through this!! Thanks in advance.

2024.05.28 20:11 newtonsth3rdlaw Kitchen!!

Kitchen!!
How would you guys paint/decorate this kitchen? House isn’t moved into yet so completely blank slate, and would like to get the painting and stuff out of the way before we move in!! Open concept Dining room is in front, to the left is open concept living room. The door pictured goes into laundry/pantry space
I’ve gotten a lot of suggestions to paint the kitchen a green color and the cabinets a cream. Which, I love this idea, but wondering how to transition from green kitchen to dining room and living room since it’s all connected? Do I just paint all 3 rooms that color? How do I split it up, even if I don’t use green and go with another color, should it be fluid without, do I cut it off somehow? Etc. Sorry if my comments seem like dummy no brainers lol! I don’t know a lick about decorating or painting or ANYTHING haha. I’ve got no idea what flows or looks good
The latter picture is what the view is from the sliding glass doors in the dining room, not sure if that matters. It was also be a lot more brown/uglier as the summer progresses and especially in winter. Just dirt and mesquite trees. Deep in the heart of texas😉😂

2024.05.28 20:09 Stock-Confusion-3401 Dictating what plants are in our garden beds

Just bought a house in an HOA and already having issues. We got cited for maintenaince of our garden beds, and I was really confused as there is just one small bed and it is just some Hostas surrounded by ground cover of decorative ivy. Emailed to ask what the problem was and they stated we had to remove the ivy (it was not growing up on any building). I asked what bylaw it was violating and if there was a list of "banned plants" or something I was missing and the property manager stated "Well no there is no bylaw but the board wouldn't approve of ivy." Like, what? Can the just arbitrarily decide this kind of thing? Is this just an overzealous property manager or what? This is not a native species or weed and I have seen it used ornamentally as ground cover in plenty of landscaping.
I was going to redo the front beds to my own taste as some point but it's very frustrating to be made to do so under a time limit, especially as we just moved and have enough to do - these plants have clearly been here without issue for some time, and my husband is having health issues!
How should I handle this? I don't really want to start with an adversarial relationship with the management company, but I also want to make the board aware of he is overstepping. I should add that he is (according to my neighbor) a brand new property manager.

2024.05.28 19:50 RaspberryQueasy1273 Session Zero for New Character DM resistance

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on how I can solve a small issue I'm facing. I'm in a long-form D&D game and my character died requiring me to make a new one. My trouble is, how my character develops isn't meshing well with my DM and I feel like I'm being forced to change them to fit how much preparation they're willing to do.
Setting The campaign setting is high-fantasy dealing with extraplanar invasions and threats. The gods have a heavy hand in the role to play and we, as normal humans, are the main focus trying to fix the world around us. My new character, let's call them Vin, was actually my first PC in this campaign and left the group as she felt overwhelmed by the pressures around her (she didn't fit the group vibe). However, I thought it would be interesting to bring them back -changed- after some time spent in the Astral.
The Problem For Vin to make this change, she will need to go through some trials. Not being a 'chosen one', I feel it's important that Vin discovers that even normal people can make a big difference. However, for that to occur, she needs to experience it. Over several months, I had been informing my DM of some interesting shenanigans she could've gotten up to in the Astral. With the hopes that in her one-shot, she discovers something that could prove useful to the party. However, the one shot did not go the way I had hoped.
The one-shot occurred and explained that Vin largely travelled around the Astral before her god called upon her to return her to the material. The only trouble is, none of the change I wrote to my DM had occurred canonically. As the wishes I had explained to my DM were not brought up during our one-shot. What this meant was Vin largely felt the same, for me, and so turned down her god's request to re-join the group. As, for her, nothing had changed since she left the last time. Essentially, the one-shot didn't address the feelings I had for her.
After the one-shot, myself and my DM were somewhat dissonant. We then had a long conversation about the one-shot after the fact where I essentially explained everything I've written above. The importance of how I feel Vin should act and play, and what I'd like out of the one-shot. However, my DM has replied multiple times expressing that her God failed to mention a good reason why she needs Vin to return. Though I've outlined to him that, even with a good reason, I don't believe Vin would return. That her experience and character needs to be shaped by facing something in the Astral. And that she learns something, or gains a power that can help the group, that she had agency in and chose on her own. And not something external, like being required upon or being shoehorned into it.
To this, my DM has asked of me to write a few background events, but has stated he doesn't wish to explore her story beyond a few one-shots. He doesn't wish to give her important details as it would take several sessions to find.
Conclusion So I come to Reddit to ask the many roleplayers on some general advice. Right now, I'm considering perhaps setting aside Vin as perhaps my vision of them is not something that could realistically happen. Or, indeed, if there's another solution I'm not seeing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.28 19:48 Coy_Octopus Stuttering While Exploring

So I have a heavy load order and recently started a new game with most of the Mods I was using for a previous playthrough. Changed out a few texture overhauls for land, architecture and my character. Also city overhauls. Swapped a grass Mod for a "more FPS friendly" version. Added Sons of Skyrim and Cloaks of Skyrim after testing it out on my previous playthrough.
Tested this load order on a new temporary save and it seemed to run fine at first. The current game was fresh with this order after wiping my reserved space and hard resetting.
Now:
In cities, villages, or other cells it runs smooth as my previous playthrough with the normal brief stutter around cluttered parts of Falkreath and Riften holds that I'm not worried about as its mostly the same regardless of what Mods I have or haven't installed.
However, I am now experiencing intermittent/often stutter of varying levels when travelling the world and the landscape rendering takes a moment or two to catch up at times. Had a couple of CTD's up hill near Anga's Mill at the same place but resolved itself without me moving my load order around.
So I guess what I'm asking is, can anyone help?
Is it my load order? Though the structure is more or less the same as I've used for several playthroughs, certain things are placed in the order they are as any lower and things start to get iffy. (Had texture mods a lot further down a while ago but then other Mods like the character overhauls wasn't working properly for whatever reason so had to rearrange).
Is my load order too heavy? Though I've run 167 Mods including patches on a previous game with only occasional stuttering. Unfortunately some of the things I want don't have an AIO or I don't want the AIO - see City Trees - or they have a ton of patches required - I'm looking at you JK.
Do I have any mods that are driving my FPS into the ground that I'm not aware of? Though I know it will never be perfect while I have a grass Mod installed.
Can anyone recommend alternative options? Though I'm trying to stay away from JK's skyrim AIO because of all the patches required. Same with The Great Cities.
I currently have 115 mods including patches.

Pivot Point Sorting: Tried to fix pivot point. Now all sprites are way above GameObject transform.
I should have probably set pivot points from the beginning when slicing my sprites, but I didn't remember to until months later in the game when trying to figure out y-axis sorting.
Now that I have set my player and NPC sprites' pivot points to bottom, their sprites have drastically shifted upward on the y-axis from their transform point. As you can see in the screenshots, the colliders are where they used to be and the sprite is almost a full grid above. This also effects my cinemachine as the camera is moreso following the player's feet than torso.
Player
NPC
So how can I keep the pivot point at bottom, but the transform to be at center?
Bonus Question: How do you sort tilemap objects that take up 2 tiles? Like if I splice a tree and all of it's tiles are pivot point bottom, then the player will keep reappearing over the tree for each tile it travels upwards. Is it just best to place objects and decoration as GameObjects of their own rather than on a tilemap grid?

Some parts I was able to find for a lower cost on Facebook Marketplace. My preferred budget is under $1,000.
Does this build look solid enough to where I wouldn't need an upgrade for at least 5+ Years? I plan to use it for heavy gaming and video editing. Also a side question I have because I have little to no knowledge about CPU's. Someone is selling an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X on Facebook market place for $100. According to pcgamebenchmark.com that CPU isn't too bad in comparison to the i5-12600K I originally planned on buying. Here's the results it gave me and how it would look paired with my GPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. My question is, should I buy the 5600X and have to change my motherboard aswell? Or should I stick with the 12600K? I want something that's a bang for my buck. Thank You all in advance 🙏

2024.05.28 19:19 SituationWild2630 how do we get attic glitch patched?

hi wizard101 community! i’ve been playing wizard101 since 2011. the game is deeply meaningful to me and has served as an integral part of my childhood & life in general. and i’ve always been a big-time decorator, and greatly appreciate the pick-up-all and place in attic feature that lets me mass remove furniture from my castles as its very useful when i change my mind and decide to redecorate, and i feel many of my fellow wizards who enjoy decorating homes would agree.
however, feature is currently bugged and if you mass pick-up items and have them sent to your attic, the attic may “eat” said items and they will simply disappear. hard earned, sentimental items that are precious code items, or items we’ve spent HOURS or even DAYS searching/farming/fishing for, just poof. this happened to me whilst i was decorating one of my castles, i used the mass pick-up and place in attic feature, and some of my furniture disappeared and was lost in the attic abyss. i don’t know exactly what all i lost, but i did email kingsisle to no avail. so many players are dealing with this same issue as its a universal bug right now. it’s extremely frustrating, and kingsisle will not listen to the community and patch it. it’s so frustrating, in fact, it’s so frustrating that i cant enjoy playing the game anymore, because i and many others personally enjoy decorating as a primary part of gameplay.
many people have emailed kingsisle and spoken about this issue, though i fear it isn’t getting enough attention. i have no idea how to go about bringing this to the forefront of kingsisle’s attention, but i am posting this in hopes that somehow our community can work its magic and help solve this. not to self-advertise at all—i’m desperate at this point; but would upvoting this bring more attention to the attic glitch? should we as a community mass-email kingsisle? i want to get their attention on this, and i want them to know many wizards in our community ask them to prioritize fixing it in order to fully enjoy our gameplay. does anyone have any suggestions?

Previously on Leveling up the World...
The silence in the aether sphere was so intense that Dallion could hear every breath and heartbeat. So far, he had done a good job pretending to believe what the other had told him. Hopefully, that was going to be enough to fool the archbishop.
“We don’t,” Simon said.
In his mind Dallion said a lot of things, most of them curses. What he voiced was completely different.
“I don’t follow.” He floated closer to the center of the sphere. “I thought you said that if someone wins, it’s all over.”
“There’s another way to achieve what you want. A direct boon, if you will.”
That’s what you told Tiallia, didn’t you? Dallion frowned. Considering what had happened to her entire race, Dallion wasn’t terribly enthusiastic about that option.
“The Moon emblem,” the archbishop continued. “All hopefuls are given one. I’m no exception and neither are all previous conquerors. Those with enough drive have even completed theirs. I heard that you’re doing pretty well with yours.”
“Don’t believe everything you hear. I’m still missing a few,” Dallion lied.
“Everyone is missing a few, but I’ve foreseen that together there are enough to make a set.”
That filled Dallion with even less enthusiasm. A voice in the back of his mind had already started urging him to reject the offer and continue with more important things. Then again, there was the matter of the archbishop’s assistance.
“You’re suggesting we team up with them?” Even his level of the music skill proved unable to hide the skepticism.
“There can be only one winner in the conventional way, but unlike what they say through their echoes and domains, no one is certain they’ll be the one to make it. Right now, Jeremy and Tiallia are engaged in a series of battles all along the western shore of the continent. Tia decided to take advantage of the minor clash between you and the emperor, so she went all out in the battle for first place. Jeremy considers you weak, and me done with, so he responded.”
“So, whoever wins there wins the world.”
“Not quite. They must win fast. If the battle grinds on, the winner might reach a point at which they’ll be weaker than you. That’s why they are putting everything on the first clash. There’s a good chance that by tomorrow, things will be clear, yet they aren’t right now.”
There was an obvious danger of allying with someone dedicated to an insane belief. The archbishop’s mania that the world—or the “game” as he believed—would end had made him a master of knowing the right time and the right actions to force a desired outcome. Compared to him, the emperor was like an apprentice, though, as the current state of the world showed, sometimes the apprentice could outwit the master.
“We form an alliance and use my Moon emblem to challenge the Moons together,” Dallion mused.
“That’s the simple version, yes. They’ll have their doubts, of course, but if we ask them right now, they’ll have no choice but to accept.”
“That’s why you surrendered to me, didn’t you?”
“The third and fourth combined might prove stronger than the second.” Simon nodded. “Or maybe the first.”
“And because they’re currently fighting between themselves, they can’t easily unite against us.”
“Oh, they could, but would they trust each other? What if this all is an elaborate plot to eliminate them before fighting continues between the remaining three?”
Only because you’re the one who made the alliance, Dallion said to himself. He was putting a lot of faith in a person who was scheming, addicted to Moonstones, and with questionable beliefs. And still, he had a lot of knowledge that Dallion could use. In the end, this is what it came to: everyone was using everyone; the question was who would gain the bigger advantage.
“Working with Tiallia and Jeremy,” Dallion said.
“Trust me, it beats the alternative.”
“And what do I have to do in exchange?”
Anger emanated from the archbishop. Clearly, he was a lot worse at controlling his emotions in his current state.
“I must be able to see some of the details,” he replied without directly answering the question. “Also, I’ll need one to heal you. You could use it in theory as well, but you won’t be as efficient.”
“Alright,” Dallion agreed. In his mind, he had gone over his options dozens of times. “One more thing, though. You’ll tell me everything before we go.”
“I can talk while I heal.”
“And if there’s a face to face, I’m not going alone.”
“It’s a bad idea. Anyone you bring will put you at risk.”
“I trust them more than you,” Dallion said in a firm tone. Then he removed his limiting ring.
Aqui, he said within his realm. I’ll need you to bring me the Moonstones. Giaccia will give them—
No! The dragon cut him off. I’m not going in the same realm as him.
Aqui, it’ll be okay. I’ll be here and—
No! she said adamantly. He bred us for our hearts! I’m not going anywhere near!
If there was any way for Dallion’s opinion of Simon to get any lower, he couldn’t think of it right now. The archbishop really acted as if everything was a game. It was all very calculated, refined for efficiency, and with complete disregard for the beings involved. No wonder he spent all of his existence alone on his island, separated from the rest of the world. At a certain level, he knew the consequences of what he was doing and yet felt obliged to keep doing it.
Veil, you bring them, Dallion ordered.
Are you sure? There’s no telling what he’ll do with them.
I know exactly what he’ll do with them. We made a deal, so bring them. Oh, and don’t take the cyan one.
Sure, Dal. There was not a single note of enthusiasm in Veil’s voice.
A few seconds later, the aether sphere dissolved into nothing, bringing Dallion and the archbishop into view again. The number of troops surrounding the area had doubled, all eagerly awaiting the command to attack. Such a command never came. Instead, Dallion floated back down to his room, accompanied by the archbishop.
When Veil appeared, handing over the Moonstones to Dallion, who in turn gave them to Simon, the healing began.
Under the watchful eye of Euryale and Pan, the archbishop removed one by one the permanent effects covering Dallion’s body. The magic spell he used was unlike anything Dallion had seen—“more divine than spell” as Adzorg put it.
As each wound was burned out of existence, leaving smooth skin behind, a green rectangle flashed, informing Dallion of the result. And during the entire time, Simon explained the intricacies of the plan. For safety and security reasons, a bubble of silence had been cast around the room, maintained by none other than Pan. The copyette trusted the archbishop as much as Dallion, still maintaining hundreds of magic symbols all over his body.
After close to an hour, all the bleeding wounds had been removed from Dallion’s body. Now it was time to restore his feet.
“I’ll need you to hold him down for this,” Simon told Euryale.
“It will hurt, I take it,” Dallion said, preparing himself mentally.
“It will if you want it done in a minute.”
Dallion didn’t, but he also didn’t want to delay. A minute in intense pain. For an awakened, that sounded like an eternity. Hopefully, Simon was using a metaphor and it wasn’t actually going to take a full minute.
“Pan,” Dallion said as he lay down on the bed so that the stumps of his legs were beyond the end. “Did you go through this when you tried to conquer the world?”
“The leg healing bit? No.” The copyette responded with a touch of humor. “The other stuff… at this point, I can say I did.”
“You can only tell someone who already knows,” Dallion said reflectively. “How come you could tell me?” He raised his head, looking at Simon.
“I didn’t vow not to.” The archbishop was rubbing his hands, covering them in a pale green glow. “Unlike him, I never tried to take over the world.” He took a step closer to the bed. “You better get ready now.”
The pain came in waves. The first few seconds there was almost none at all. Yet as time went by, it kept building up more and more until soon it was more than Dallion could bear. Concentrating, he tried to use his music skills to negate the effects of the pain, or at the very least, decrease them. That lasted for possibly ten seconds more, when his body reflexively made an attempt to break free. It was only Euryale that kept him from succeeding. The gorgon held his hands firmly pinned to the bed, while Simon pulled out, bit by bit, a new set of feet from Dallion’s legs.
Half of Dallion’s body had gone completely limp and unresponsive, yet the pain felt as if someone was stretching every muscle, nerve, and tendon in his legs far beyond their breaking point. The only thing preventing him from yelling for the archbishop to stop was the burning desire not to give him the satisfaction. Sweat covered his entire body. Magic threads emerged from his pores in an attempt to create a protective mesh over his skin.
The pain seemed to last for hours, simultaneously knocking Dallion out and forcing him into consciousness again. Finally, he felt a slight decrease. It wasn’t much, but a sure sign that his suffering had peaked.
“There you go.” Simon wiped the sweat from his forehead. Clearly, he had also exerted himself. Even so, he seemed in a markedly better state. If nothing else, the bags beneath his eyes were gone. “Rest a bit. I’ll send my offer to Jeremy.”
“Not Tiallia?” Dallion asked through gritted teeth.
“Tiallia has already accepted. I suppose having her sister helped.”
“Wait! Tell me—” Dallion tried to voice the question, but his stamina had reached its limits. Once his body realized it wasn’t fighting for its survival, his consciousness shut down. After what seemed like a second, Dallion woke up.
Looking up he saw a star-filled night sky. Panic set in, along with the fear that Simon had gone to the meeting without him.
“Eury!” Dallion jumped to his feet. “Pan! Who left…” his words trailed off.
There was a person in the room. Funny that it was only now that Dallion noticed. The person was a dryad, standing at the window, looking outside.
“Vihrogon?” Dallion asked.
“Close.” The dryad turned around. It didn’t take Dallion more than a second to figure out who it was.
“Felygn,” he whispered. “I thought it was strange that the room was removed again. How long was I out?”
“Eleven seconds, give or take. Simon did a number on you. After your latest bout of recklessness, you deserved it, though.”
“Everyone’s a critic.” Dallion shifted the weight on his legs. His feet felt normal and completely pain-free. Given that it was a dream, there was no other way for it to be. “Was he right?”
“Is that what you want to ask me?”
“Will you answer if I do?”
The Green Moon laughed.
“You’re leaning.”
The room suddenly shifted. Dallion didn’t notice it happening, yet he knew the difference between where he had been a moment ago and where he was now. The present room was identical to his university dorm, at least as far as he could remember. The only thing that remained the same was Felygn, who stood at the window in his dryad form.
“This brings back memories, doesn’t it?” the Moon asked.
“I’ve never known you to be sentimental.”
“Who said I can’t be? Don’t worry, you’re not in any trouble as far as we are concerned. I just thought I’d take this chance to have a few words with you. There’s no telling whether I might have another.”
“So, things are that bad?”
“Only one can own the world. There’s no telling if that someone would be you.”
A farewell from a Moon. It was the last thing Dallion expected, but he appreciated the gestures. His opinion and relationship with the Moons had gone through many stages. Initially there was awe, then fear, then annoyance that they let mass-scale pain and suffering happen before their eyes. Now, he felt them distantly close in a way that words could barely describe.
“Thanks for bringing my race back,” Felygn said. “I appreciate it.”
“You know I didn’t do it for you.”
“I know. But you also did it for them. Many were given an opportunity, but you’re the only one who not only tried, but did it. For that, I’ll give you a final boon.”
“Isn’t it a bit late for that?”
“Maybe. But no matter what, I’ll always be with you as long as you call.”
“What does—” The scene disappeared. Instantly, Dallion opened his eyes, lurching his upper body upwards.
He was back in his bedroom with Euryale sitting on the bed next to him.
“Don’t rush,” she said, gently caressing his cheek. “You can rest a bit longer.”
Dallion smiled, relaxing back down. Yes, he had a bit longer. Yet deep inside, he feared that he’d never see Felygn again, not as a friend in any event.

2024.05.28 19:03 JuhpPug I have 3 hero ideas, a smoker, splitter, and a mechanically intense hero

I know this game isnt updated anymore, but these could still be used for Resurgence of the Storm.
Smoker - Imagine someone throwing smoke bombs that reduce vision inside of it. Kinda like what Dehakas "Isolation" does and how it reduces their vision.
They could also throw some kind of wall that completely reduces vision across the map. You cant see behind it until you walk through it, like Astras ultimate from Valorant.
Then another unique idea i thought of was some kind of Splitter. A hero that starts out as one but then can split into multiples. And back into one. Maybe they could start out as a tank as one and then become dps when multiplied. Or they could have some unique combos as multiples that would require some micromanaging and mechanical skill. Idk how they would exactly work. Would probably fit to be a Zerg.
And then the third idea i had was another very mechanically challanging hero. Two ability ideas, one where their ability follows their cursor. Imagine they fire an arrow and then they have to guide it with their mouse movement. A second one, they have to spin their ability around them in circles with their cursor around the character to empower it. Like in the hammer throw sport.
I have no idea what heroes these would fit into.
And then I had a map idea. Theres all these little people in all of the maps that are just decorations, they have no use. But what if you could interact with them? They could for example give you quests.

2024.05.28 18:58 dogz4321 Really enjoying ARK!

I bought both ASA and ASE recently when the games went on sale and I've been addicted to ASA.
I play ASE mostly with my buddy since he already has ASE and doesn't want to buy ASA just yet, but I really, really like ASA.
I've been playing mostly singleplayer.
But I will say, the game IS buggy as hell, performance is crappy, and I feel like you need google all the time to make any real advancements. But I think considering the scale, variety and enjoyment in the game, I think bugs are to be expected.
The thing I really enjoy about ARK is that there are a lot of systems/items in the game and they all work to a satisfactory level with variety and a decent level of depth.
With the taming, there's a genuine fun feeling of seeing a new dino I havent seen before, catching it, and then seeing what it does. Sometimes those abilities are not obvious, which is unfortunate as it encourages me to use google which takes me out of the game (literally and figuratively), but the variety is honestly really impressive.
Also I have a genuine excitement when I build new items too because they all have a use for each stage of the game. (sometimes multiple). I think from a design perspective, the game is doing excellent in this department.
Ex:
  1. Tables are useful because they literally get items off the floor like the Mortar and Pestle to make them easier to use.
  2. Railings are decorative, but can be used to protect tames from campfires.
  3. Campfire helps protects you from both the cold, and cooks food early on, but later game its useful as an on the go tool for cooking prime meat which helps preserve it longer.
  4. Tilesets are great tools for building bases, but they also can build custom traps.
Also everything is done at just a good enough level to be enjoyable, though not super in depth which I think is fine.
  1. Farming is easy to understand, easy to get into, easy to maintain (everything creates fertilizer) and integrates into the game systems to make better taming tools/consumables.
  2. There's minor levels of automation, but it carries some risk.
  3. There are survival mechanics like hunger, thirst, temperature, etc but it's not too oppressive (I hate that screen color overlay when you're hungry/thirsty though, anyone know how to get rid of it?)
  4. There are in game traps that you can use, crafting, etc, but none of it is super fleshed out.
With all of these average systems combined together, you end up with a total system that feels fun to mess around with and play, I think its well done.
I dunno I just like this game! I've been playing it a lot singleplayer and definitely didnt expect to enjoy it this much. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement in the game especially with the performance, but I think the game is great for what it is.

2024.05.28 18:49 regboi29 4 Us Writers Lesson #4: He Said, She Said: Crafting Your POV (Reedsy)

By Reedsy
Be sure to like, follow, and comment below thanks. More u/regboi29
Welcome back, romance writers! We’ve talked about the hero. We’ve talked about the heroine. But which one is our “main protagonist” and whose point of view should the story be told from? Nailing down your POV is something you want to do right from the start. I’ve seen manuscripts written entirely in first person only for the author to realize she’d rather have written it from a dual third person perspective.
Re-writing a book is a lot of work! Think about your POV and tense before you start writing and save yourself a lot of hassle later on.

To shift perspective — or not? What works best in romance

A lot of writers tell me they have a certain way they like to write, a style to which their internal voice is naturally inclined. But that style doesn’t necessarily mesh with a given genre. In fact, an unfamiliar POV style can be enough to turn readers off completely, no matter how compelling the plot.
So what’s typical in romance? If you’re writing category romance, it’s most common — and desirable — to have a shifting dual perspective. That is, part of the story is told from the hero’s POV and part of the story is told from the heroine’s. Why the shift? Because unlike in other genres, in romance, the role of “main protagonist” is a bit fuzzy. The job is shared between the hero and the heroine to let the reader into the relationship without “taking sides.”
So much of romance takes place inside our characters’ heads, so to fully understand and appreciate the relationship, that’s where the reader needs to be. That’s not to say a solid romance can’t be written from a single perspective, but if you want to play to what sells in a given genre, read what’s out there and model your POV on the tried and true.

Finding your voices: hero vs. heroine

So, you’ve decided to move forward with a dual perspective POV. What’s next? Ideally, you want to outline your story in such a way that you can swap POVs based on which character has the most at stake in a given scene. If it’s something that affects the hero, we need to be in his head.
With all these shifts in POV, there’s something crucial to keep in mind: don’t let your hero and heroine sound too much alike. Give them each a distinctive voice. All authors have favorite words or expression that pop up in their writing a lot, and for the most part, that’s okay — just make sure that these common phrases aren’t shared by both of your POV characters. They need to sound a bit different, so the reader can feel the POV shifts and fully engage with each perspective.

First person vs. third? Past vs. present?

When it comes to POV, you also have to decide between first and third person narration. Most romances are written in what’s called third person limited. Even though the narration is limited, keeping the perspective narrow in any given scene, the reader still gets to enjoy all the insights and internal thought you’d get with a first person narrator.
This perspective works well with a shifting POV because it affords the reader the opportunity to experience things from both sides, allowing a deeper understanding of the overall narrative arc. I also urge romance authors to stick to past tense. Writing in present tense can be tricky, and it’s definitely not typical in romance.
Romance readers want something new, but familiar. They want more of the same, but with fresh, satisfying details. Stick to what’s typical, as a base, if you want to increase your chances of connecting with your audience.

Key takeaways

In these first few lessons, we’ve covered most of the essential building blocks that go into a strong romance novel, but there’s one more component you’ll want to give some thought before you dive in and start writing — the inclusion of tropes. I’ll see you back here tomorrow as we explore best practices when it comes to using classic tropes in romance!

2024.05.28 18:26 OthyR Copper Mesh effectiveness

I have read that the reactivity/effectiveness of copper mesh (in terms of scavenging sulfur compounds) used in the vapor path increases with use but this seems wrong to me intuitively. Doesn't the accumulated deposits on the mesh reduce the surface area available to react with the vapor with subsequent runs?
After a stripping run the copper mesh has a lot of oils and whatnot on the mesh itself that has a funky smell that will transfer to my hands when I handle the mesh. Setting aside how the reaction between copper and the sulfur compounds works doesn't having your distillate vapor pass through the fouled mesh transfer some of that scent back to the distillate?

2024.05.28 18:24 KelpieoftheLakes How to SAFELY make sure my rhino iggy is getting enough UV? Can I lower the lamp, or is it too much of a burn risk? 😥

According to recommendations, rhinos should have a UV index of 4.5-8.0 in their basking area. I currently have an Arcadia 24” T5 fixture with a 12% (Desert) Arcadia Bulb. The tube covers half of his enclosure, so that he can get away from the UV at any time he wants to. All of this equipment was strongly recommended for his age and species by various sources, including Arcadia’s own guide…
The only problem is that the lamp isn’t positioned closely enough for my ig to be getting the UV he needs. The enclosure is 2' in height, and I currently have the fixture mounted inside the mesh top. I need to lower it… but how can I do it safely, so that he won’t climb up on the fixture/bulb and burn himself? I know how to lower it on chains, but then what’s to stop the ig from using it as a swing-set/trapeze? 😑 I thought of getting one of those guard cages, but it’s weirdly difficult to find the matching 26” Arcadia guard to go with my fixture… and even that wouldn’t work well, because they’re meant to be mounted flush to the enclosure ceiling. 🤷‍♀️
Please help! This is driving me crazy. 😵‍💫

2024.05.28 18:16 MigookChelovek What are some ways Server Meshing could fall short of expectations?

The way salvaging was implemented disappointed quite a lot of people and I know changes will be made down the road, but it still has me trying to temper my expectations for basically every new feature projected to come out in the next year. I feel like I finally have a decent grasp on what Server Meshing is supposed to look like when its running perfectly, but what are some ways it could fall short of expectations, at least when its first introduced into the Live environment?
Serious answers please. Im looking for specifics regarding the limits of the technology or code. As an example I mentioned salvaging, specifically the way the claw on the Reclaimer was advertised, compared to how it's currently used. Not bugs or login issues.

2024.05.28 18:15 RandomUsername495 Hard shell or soft shell carrier when moving across the country?

I’m moving from Missouri to Pennsylvania this summer and I’m trying to figure out how to transport my two cats. We will be driving and they’ll probably be given medication because they HATE car rides.
I’m planning on buying new carriers for them but I’m struggling to figure out which one. I want two separate carriers bc although they get along, they do fight when they’re stressed or hungry. Should I get hard shell or soft shell? I currently have two hard shell ones but they’re a little small (since they’re only in there for the five minutes to the vet). They also associate the hard shells with the vet so I’m wondering if they would adjust better to soft shells. One of my cats might try to claw through the soft shell mesh. But are hard shells safer in a crash? Weeks before I leave, I’m planning on leaving the carriers out and feeding the cats inside the carriers so they get used to them
Any other advice (such as when to let them use the litter box) would be appreciated! I’ve looked on previous posts about traveling with cats but I’m hoping for some fresh ideas

2024.05.28 18:08 Ranadiel A Deep Dive into the File Remnants for the Original Plans for 2.0 (Datamined Defunct Content)

So there was a recent thread that got me to look back on the original plans for the 2.0 expansion material and I ended up digging through it a bit more than I ever had before. I figured it might be fun to write up a full breakdown of what I was able to gleam from my digging.
Before I begin, I should mention that the information available is spotty and inconsistent in places. For example, according to the TORCommunity database, a lot of these files were added in version 1.3 and 2.0. However, going back to the files that are in those patches (I love you Jedipedia), a lot of those files are not present in those versions. I assume this is internal marking, and is based on the dev's versions and not the live versions. In fact the Sith Warrior dialogues only show up in live in 5.0.0. I have no idea why those dialogues just suddenly popped into existence there.
Generally speaking I have four types of files available to look through.

Overall Plan

So to begin, it should be noted that all of these cnv files are located in the directory cnv.exp.01. This is the same naming convention used for the released Rise of the Hutt Cartel files. This makes it difficult to tell what Makeb's original role in the expansion was. It appears that it was intended to be part of the expansion as there is the following line from the Supreme Chancellor that appears to vary based on whether a Smuggler did Makeb before starting Bothawui.
(Did not do Makeb) "Of course I am. The Voidwolf's defeat is the only reason I can ignore being referred to as "Madame Chance. "
(Did do Makeb) "Of course I am. Your success on Makeb bought you considerable leeway with me--but "Madame Chance" is pushing it. "
Additionally according to TORCommunity's "added in patch" data, the majority of Makeb's cnvs were initially added in 1.3, which was the same patch that most of the other files were added for the cut content.
So in addition to Makeb, the planned planets appear to have been Bothawui (Pub), Ziost (Imp), and Sleheyron (Both). These three planets were intended to have class stories and side quests (no evidence of a world arc, but I don't know if none was planned or if they just didn't get to it). There is no evidence that Makeb was ever meant to have any class stories on it. Additionally, there is one conversation file for Imp Yavin IV. It was early on in development when they stopped working on it since the dialogue is just a summary of what happens in the scenes (e.g., a shuttle crashes), but there are quests and NPCs for both Pub and Imp world arcs, so there was more planned.
So in summary the plan appears to have been something like:
Now before I start on discussing the content from each planet, it is worth mentioning that I have little context for most quests and NPCs, so I'm just going to be putting them in alphabetical order.

Bothawui

The overall setting for this Planet seems to have been that the Republic is going on the offensive and the Imperials are going scorched earth while they get pushed off planet.
Something that is well known (I think) at this point is that Dantooine on live is a modified version of the map that originally made for Bothawui. From the dialogue files that I've looked through, I'm betting the dam in the portion of the map we are on was originally called the Bosnar Dam, which was a set piece for one of the JK missions. Also probably worth noting that the there are multiple mentions of Bothawui being an important source of food, which probably factored into their choice to reuse the area since Dantooine is also a farming planet.
Quests

Ziost

I'm really not sure what the state of Ziost was supposed to be. SW seems to be dealing with Pubs having taken over the planet defense grid. SI and IA seem to be dealing with internal politics. And I have no idea of what BH is up to.
Quests

Sleheyron

Honestly I have less of an idea for Sleheyron than Ziost since Sleheyron is either the least finished planet or the planet with the least files that has slipped into live.
Quests

Yavin IV

I have very little idea on the Pub side of things. There are some clues for the Imp side though. While he lacks a creature file, the Imp quests make mention of reporting to Servant One. So that means Imps were probably here on a mission for the Emperor. My first instinct is reviving the Emperor, but I don't have enough info. General Heskar also made a return. Oh Imps also spoke to Naga Sadow's force ghost as part of their world arc.
Quests

Jedi Knight

So the JK's overreaching plot for seems to have been working together with the Protectors (the rescue team we met on Makeb) in order to help evacuate people.
There are multiple mentions of a place called Talravin, which I'm guessing is where the story would start as the JK helps evacuations there. From reading between the lines, it appears that the JK would be sending the refugees to a new world called New Euphrades...and of course the story finishes with us fighting a Sith in orbit as he is trying to destroy it.
Based on quest names, it seems we were meant to go to Alphelion Six, which does not have a wookiepedia article so I guess it was a new planet, at some point. Since the finale seemed to be New Euphrades, I'm guessing this happened between Bothawui and Sleheyron. Whenever it happened, the Protectors were apparently going to join you there.
Seems that there was an ending choice for the JK between joining the Protectors full time or becoming the Battlemaster. There is a lot of dialogue regarding the role of Jedis, so this seems like a conclusion to that arc as the JK chooses whether to be a protector or a warrior? Scourge also mentions that he had additional visions, but doesn't provide anything useful just kind of says "yeah I totally knew you were going to make that choice" after you made it.

Jedi Consular

The JC's arc seems to be the most clear cut. The JC gets a vision of the galaxy burning because of Torwin Vehls and then sets out to find them and stop them. On Bothawui, the JC discovers that Torwin has the power to give power to others, and this includes giving force sensitivity to non-sensitives (and also to animals).
The JC fails to catch Torwin on Bothawui and must continue chasing after him before he find "the Shrouded Ones," which were something related to the Rakata. "The Shrouded Ones were built to be the end of everything. A solution, to our empire's final problem." Not sure if they were something new or something that already exists given a mysterious name. There are talks about them that makes them sound like they are machines powered by the force, but I'm not sure how that solves the Rakata's final problem or meshes with Torwin's power. Then again the Rakata were evil jerks, so maybe their solution was to just murder everyone so they didn't go down alone?
I feel like there is a good chance that this unused arc is the inspiration for at least part of the current arc since one of the powers Darth Nul is mentioned as having is awakening force sensitivity in those unaware they had it (slightly different, but if anyone starts mentioning Shrouded Ones, we know that is not a good sign).

Smuggler

Trying to describe this plot feels like a fever dream, but maybe that is appropriate for a continuation of the OG Smuggler story. So the Smuggler gets dragged into the story after an attack on Port Nowhere by a criminal gang.
The Smuggler tracks them down to Bothawui where you learn they are the Womp Family and that they have gotten ahold of a Superdreadnaught, which they refer to as a "space mansion." And they aren't just called the Womp Family, they actually are a family. The plot is essentially that a bunch of hillbillies got their hands on a...fully automated aircraft carrier(?) and are now going around launching air strikes on people that tipped their cows. They literally launch an orbital bombardment on the Smuggler at one point. Not his ship or base that he is at. Just the Smuggler after the Smuggler corners one of their members. They are also trying to extort the Republic. I don't know how things ended, but I imagine the dark side ending has the Smuggler getting a larger ship.

Trooper

Trooper is leading the front lines of the battle on Bothawui with a reporter in tow. Had a scene that would have been interesting to see where the Trooper was to get airdropped in a bomb modified to serve as an entry craft. The reporter mentions having enough footage on Bothawui, so I'm not really sure where the expansion long arc was supposed to go from there. Immediately after Bothawui, you are the guest of honor at a party held by the Chancellor, so I guess the Sleheyron mission pops up there.
Rough Map
Quests

Sith Warrior

Sith Warrior is the only one of the Imp classes that I have dialog for. On Ziost, the SW is in charge of getting the planetary defenses back after Pubs take them over. However the planetary defenses might only be a distraction because there is dialogue referring to the Sith Warrior saving the Voice who is a necessary component for reviving the Emepror.
The overarching plot seems to be a conflict with Gnost-Dural who seems to be looking into ending the Emperor for good. While the SW is dealing with Ziost, Gnost-Dural prepares to attack the hidden fortress where the Hand resides. The attack starts while the SW is reporting on their success in protecting the Hand. Once here Gnost-Dural captures all of the Servants except for Servant Twelve who goes to the SW for help. Servant Twelve drops the tidbit that if the hand was severed than (in this timeline) the Emperor can no longer revived. Gnost Dural seems unaware of this as he puts the Servants in stasis and carefully probes their minds to get information about the Emperor without hurting them.
Interesting to note that one of the quests is called Showdown on Ossus, so that might have been the inspiration for Gnost-Dural being on Ossus in Jedi Under Siege.
Also there is a dialogue that mentions the Sith Warrior putting down two Dark Council members. Not entirely sure which Dark Council members they were though. Checking the NPC list for all the Sith Warrior locations, the only Darths that are mentioned are Darth Baras and Darth Vowrawn. So I guess they were including Baras. I'm thinking that Vowrawn might have actually sided with Gnost-Dural? There is a line in a conversation during the Hand's Fortress that states, "His source remains a mystery--not even Darth Vowrawn or Zujen Vale knew our location." Zujen Vale is mentioned to be a traitor in a different conversation. So I guess Vowrawn being opposed to the Hand on Rishi might have been inspired by the original plan to make him opposed to the Emperor? And now I have Emperor Vowrawn on live instead. Funny how these things work.
There is also mention of the Sith Warrior making a speech during/after Ziost, which appears to have been about reform and appears to have been directed at the Dark Council. So I guess a LS option to try and put the fear of Wrath into the Dark Council after the Wrath did some house cleaning.

Sith Inquisitor

I have very little idea of what the SI was supposed to get up to. The SI seems to be hobnobbing with the Dark Council on Ziost, but beyond that I'm not quite sure what is going on. You did apparently get your own estate on Ziost though. So neat?
Quests
Notable NPCs

Imperial Agent

At least part of the IA storyline seemed to be focused on cleaning up after Malgus's rebellion as there are NPCs with Malgus in their name. I'm not sure whether that was the focus of the entire expansion or if you stumble onto something else while dealing with "the betrayer's spymaster."
Quests
Notable NPCs

Bounty Hunter

I have no context to make sense of the info I have for BH. An NPC named Zedania seems to be important. I can't tell what his role in the story was though. I think in one mission we are saving him though? So a client I guess? Also someone named Brand that we get a lot of holocalls from, so either an ally or a very mouthy antagonist?

I hope you enjoyed looking at this what if. If anyone has any questions about what is in the files, I can try to answer, but I can't make promises that the answers to your questions exist in the files.

2024.05.28 18:02 CousinMajin How do you guys clean decor AFTER it's been in a Ts enclosure?

I've read a lot online about how to clean/sanitize the decor before going in an enclosure, but not after. I have a ton of decoenclosures I used for new worlds and I want to be sure it's free of hairs so I can use it for other critters. Any tips on how to do that?

2024.05.28 17:49 PugishAKA Things Minecraft Should Do in 2024/2025

There are a ton of things I think Minecraft could do and should do with their game.
  1. Add the mobs from Minecraft Earth, Dungeons, and Legends. Also, just add the mob vote mobs! (don't start fighting in the comments.) You have shown that you have good ideas for the mobs, so why not add them to the biggest game you have? Mods show that it is possible.
  2. Collaborate with mod creators. There are a ton of great mods that Minecraft could implement into the real game. For example, they could add JEI or Alex's Mobs. We know you can because you hired kingbdogz.
  3. Add the enchants, armor, weapons, and tools from the other games. Just imagine how cool it would be to have a pet llama who can attack things for you, or an iron golem that attacks most of the mobs AND follows you.
  4. Farming update. Quite self-explanatory, add more crops to the game. Also, it would be cool to see some more foods makeable with the new crops.
  5. Movement fixing. There is not much, I would like there to be new rails that go faster and are crafted with the normal rail recipe and two redstone blocks.
  6. End update. Everybody wants the end to be updated. I would love to see a tweaked end island and a harder dragon fight. The dragon could have more attacks and 4x the HP. We could also do with a couple of structures in the end, even if they are just end versions of overworld structures.
  7. Balancing. I know a ton of people who have quit Minecraft saying, "it's too easy". A way to fix this is to make diamonds spawn way less. I could just go in a cave right now and almost immediately find some. I would also like netherite to be harder to find and mobs in the overworld be stronger. Villagers are another reason the game feels easy. You can just find a village and get mending diamond armor quickly, I would say make villages spawn less. Another reason villages should spawn less is because you can get infinite iron from ONE village using an iron farm.
  8. The last thing I will be listing is fishing. I love fishing in Minecraft. It is a provider of good food in the early game. With this said, I would like to see more fish. I would also be fine with the fish just living in the water and not being able to be grabbed by fishing. I just want to see a bit more decoration in the seas.
Those were my thoughts on what Minecraft should be doing. I think adding these things would solidify Minecraft as one of the games of all time. The Mojang team could incorporate the weekly update with all of these things being added little by little. One week you could add like 3 enchants, then the next week 5 more, etc. Anyway, hope that wasn't too much. Not expecting it all to be added, I just want you to consider it.

2024.05.28 17:43 Trick-While1777 Feedback from 500hrs Player regarding common community topics.

Hello reddit. I know player retention, balance and overall just random feedback is a very beaten to death topic both on discord and here on this subreddit with conflicting opinions and different takes, but all of those things including playercount are an issue no matter how much copium you might huff (enough for nexon to discuss it internally), Sure, you can find matches relatively quickly, and when you take into consideration that it's crossplay, there's plenty people playing to hop on and game and "not worry about it", aside from the fact that this is probably one of the few online games that I've played where I consistently ran into the same people for multiple days on end both quick cash and ranked (When steam names were a thing), sure it's happened before in other games, but it was more of a "rare" occurrence as opposed to being relatively common here. And as someone who no longer plays the game that often(very rarely nowadays) I figured I might as well throw in my few cents about the game (player count, why it's not as good as most people would like etc) and maybe somebody will enjoy the read or someone from EMBARK will find something valuable.
I would like to discuss some common points I've seen both here and on THE FINALS discord as well as discuss some things I haven't seen touched upon that often, It's a very long read, and there is no tl;dr sorry!

> Player count is dropping because it's too slow, respawns are too slow, team wipes are too punishing.

I see this quite consistently and a lot of people bring up things like "Oh look at COD, look at Battlefield, downtime is very low in those games!", But honestly, I think it's a point that's going the wrong way about it, and the aforementioned games aren't the only popular shooters out there, look at battleroyales (fortnite, apex), dying literally sends you to main menu and you have to queue, and play a running+looting simulator, yet people play those games and they have relatively healthy playerbases, other popular shooters don't have revives and you're dead till the next round. My point is that no matter how you spin it, I highly doubt player retention is poor just because of the "downtime" and there's various different things that cause players to leave or play rarely which ill try to discuss.
Solution: TDM Idea isn't actually that bad, but I believe that cluttering the game with a dozen different gamemodes will make balancing an even bigger headache for devs and will dilute players even more, however I think there's a relatively decent way to do it without adding a new gamemode which is just tweaking Bank IT variables or making Bank IT just solo, for example, they could just make it so that out of all gamemodes Bank IT has a much lower respawn timer and far more "action ready" spawns as well as having no team wipe penalty, additionally adding in a tweak such as "10-20% of the coins of the player you eliminate get cashed out immediately" making it feel more like TDM(Kill confirmed) where you can win by just by fragging out, or by playing objective (vaults -> cash out) or by trying to do both. As a bonus point, If the game introduced killcams "downtime" for dying would feel shorter because you'd be spending a couple of seconds watching the killcam instead of staring at the abyss.

> Player count is dropping because not enough ads, sponsorships to bring in new players.

I don't really use social Media(aside from youtube/discord) so I can't say much about this, however I've seen big name youtubers playing the game (s1, s2) such as Jacksfrags and there's probably a large amount of people that know that the game exist but just don't want to switch from their dedicated game, what we do lack however is having streamers playing the game often, judging by numbers from steamdb, Twitch stats are incredibly low, and I'm pretty sure that seeing a big streamer having fun playing the game will entice others to try or switch from other games.

> Cheaters are ruining the game!

In casual play I don't think I've ever seen a single cheater, ranked however is a different story (EU servers, 500hrs, Diamond rank, all achievements(except for 50mil one)), but I haven't played the game that much as of recent and ranked even less so. It does negatively influence the game because people who want to be very competitive and play for rank often times will end up frustrated due to back to back cheaters, but reality is cheating is present in any fps game and it's just a cat and mouse type situation and I'm sure Embark are working hard to reducing cheater influence, which would also be less of a problem if the playercount was higher as they could implement additional features such as "trusted players" etc.

> Meta is stale causing people to go back to other games because it gets boring.

This point is one of the few that I agree with fully, I don't like the state of the meta whatsoever(Aside from nukes and recon senses not much has changed really) and some of the balance changes that have occurred between s1 s2 aren't my favourite, but there's also plentiful of changes regarding balance and meta that I did indeed like and I'm sure the devs have a good idea of what they're trying to do and since game's balance is a beaten horse at this point with very conflicting opinions (nerf x remove x, x is useless!!) I'll deter from discussing it here but I'll elaborate on the next point.

> Not enough variety / playstyles making the game boring.

I think this is something that isn't discussed that often, and I do get why, at face value, the game has quite a lot of variety, you have melee playstyles, ranged playstyles, three different classes, multiple different maps, gamemodes and the maps themselves have different settings which is absolutely amazing, however there is a lack of variety which goes hand in hand with the staleness of meta, sure meta will always exist and will be utilized in higher elo which then slowly bleeds into casual play as well, but at the end of the day variety is lacking, be it primary, specs, or gadgets, just about every medium you see runs a defib, every heavy you ever see has rpg and dome, and the primaries themselves most of the time don't really dictate your playstyle by too much (except for melee / ranged). Same with specializations of said classes, they don't change your playstyle by too much save for a few niche cases like goo + sledge.
Solution: Adding in more unique primaries would be a great benefit, something like throwing knives for Light are incredibly fun, Flamethrower and Sledge for Heavy are great fun too for those who like such things and feel relatively unique in an fps(Goo+Sledge is so creative and I love that it exists). Something like a Compound Bow for Medium, Light having a primary that can switch between melee / ranged, Heavy with another primary weapon that allows for environment destruction or penetration through walls would offer more "unique" playstyles that aren't the typical "spray in the direction of head hitbox and pull down". Then when it comes to Class specs I feel like some sort of revision of them would be relatively fitting to make them feel more like a "sub-class" selection because as it stands now something like Turret is just a "place and forget" gadget, "Charge and Slam" Is a panic button, and well Light literally just has three different specs for movement and offer nothing else, Why can't you grapple opponents or hook barrels towards yourself, Why is dash so simple, why doesn't it phase you through or break glass/vents and other "weak" environment objects, why can't you hold the dash to consume all 3 charges and go "further". Now don't get me wrong, goo gun is super unique, and mesh shield makes heavy into valuable tank for the team, and medium can literally make a wall disappear and you can do lots of fun things with it (drop cashout, drop opponents on mines, jump pad up and go through a wall nobody expects you to etc) further exploring specializations and making them unique, rewarding and with high skill ceilings would both make the meta less stale (because let's face it, a lot of us like coolness factors in games, and not just min/maxing your loadout)

> Gamemode(s) are boring and not what people want we need TDM or ranked with only 3v3!!

I've seen people constantly bring up things like "Nobody likes to get third partied!", "Snipers on powershift make me want to leave", "3v3v3v3 is just a poor gamemode and not competitive!" and while I do believe there are plenty of reasons why some of those complaints are valid(Meta, spawns, the way cashout/teamwipe works) I do also think most people are going the wrong way about them, third partying in battleroyales has always been a thing and it didn't stop those games from blowing up (and neither should it stop The Finals), and to me, the third party aspect is rather fun and makes the game feel unique, because it isn't a large battleroyale map where everybody sits in a house and waits until they hear someone shoot and then only then engage, In the case of The FINALS it's slightly different, because at the end of the day you're getting third partied at an objective, and not just to get eliminated/eliminate. And 3v3 at the end of a Ranked Tournament was and still is my least favourite part about the game, because it feels much different and is more dictated by whether your loadout is meta at least that's how I felt about it. As For Powershift, It does certainly feel like the maps and balance weren't made for such a gamemode, because the consistency of the maps feels very off, and some specs/gadgets/guns are incredibly underwhelming or are incredibly powerful.
Solution: There isn't really much of "solution", I really hope the devs don't think the 3v3v3 / 3v3v3v3 gamemode is at fault, because other games have proved that, if other aspects of a game are well made and fun, third partying isn't a game issue but a skill issue, as for the maps, I Believe EMBARK should definitely put in slightly more effort into either making gamemode specific maps, or adjusting maps for various gamemodes to make them feel more fitting and consistent, it's not very fun when you can't get on a platform because you're heavy and all your teammates are light, sure it's a teamgame and you should work together, but as we all know sometimes that just doesn't happen.

> Ranked is weird too quick to rank up (personally), weird arrow system? and matchmaking is poor(Diamonds matched with and against silvers, golds?), and feels incredibly stale due to meta(see points above)

This is more of a personal issue, and I know EMBARK are working on making ranked better, but even though I wanted to leave feedback for the devs after reaching diamond in S2 as I haven't yet. For Context sake, I mostly soloqed, played all three classes, (mostly Light in Lower ranks, mostly Medium In Middle ranks, and mostly Heavy in higher rank), and I got to Diamond pretty fast, I think it was 2 weeks of on and off playing, The Meta was stale, every time I got to the finals it was practically the same loadouts, most teams with light would just get knocked out on first round, the incredibly good players would "edit" who gets to the finals with them by just assessing their rank and third partying other teams, spawns would be horrible (max distance spawn away from a cashout YOU HAVE), I didn't rank down a single time even though I had lose streaks, and honestly, I'm not even that good of a player, and the fact that diamond is highest rank and I got it without struggling(except for cheater games, and even then double rpging a cheater works lol), and without ranking down a single time, just feels odd, I remember in other games I used to play lots like LoL, Cs:go, Apex and Dota 2, I wasn't able to get to the highest ranks in a week or two, but as seasons went by I felt the progress and it felt rewarding to feel that I've gotten better and more consistent at the game climbing faster and getting higher each time.
Solution: Just make Ranked feel meaningful, Have a higher rank that deteriorates and you have to play to keep it(This might mean there'll be plenty of competitive streamers constantly fighting for number one spot instead of just making alt accounts to smurf or switching games), scrap the arrow system and make something more rewarding for people to see that actually makes sense, provide information on the game itself about what makes you gain points and what makes you lose them, make it so that climbing to the higher ranks isn't something that everyone can do if they have enough free time, and I would really like it if devs considered splitting soloq players from three premades. Soloq games aren't very fun when you're playing against a threestack that are on voice and take it incredibly seriously while your teammates prefer to only use pings, or aren't even fluent in English.

> Game can't be run on a potato.

And here's the big one, I haven't really seen people talk about it much, but it's genuinely something that does matter, a lot of other free to play games have something special going for them, and that is that they can be run on potato pc's, which would also directly explain why console players play the game more, because they don't have to worry about performance and they can't really do anything about it anyway, meanwhile PC players have a bunch of other f2p games that will run far better on their machine because they have more forgiving hardware requirements (Valorant, Cs, Apex, Fortnite) and in the land of First Person Shooter games, having a stable and good FPS is king, my friend who I play with has a decent machine, but she was struggling with FPS simply because her RAM was relatively slow (16 gb 2133 mhz I believe), rest of her specs are good enough to run just about any big release game from this or previous years.
Solution: Just focusing on optimizing the game and ensuring that it runs well and things like FSR, DLSS have latest implementations will go a long way, I understand that the fact that the game has destructible environments plays a huge role in this and although I'm not an expert on game optimization I hope that it can be improved upon.

> Lack of Quality of Life.

I know it sounds rather vague, but when you put together a bunch of small things it gets quite big, and such is the situation with THE FINALS, there's lots of things missing, and I know some things have been changed, but really there's still much to be desired, There's very little crosshair options and the crosshair moves with your in game HUD, You can't change the HUD size/locations, You can't edit Opacity of teammates / skull icons, there is no penalty for leaving any casual matches(Really? We already had systems like this in 2009 with MOBAS punishing players for leaving casual matches, even if you're not playing for rank, other peoples fun is at stake for leaving not to mention it starts a chain reaction of leaving cause that's how humans are, additionally, other games have options for turning off option to "fill" games, because some people don't want to fill), no text chat, you can't gift your friends any cosmetics, you can't spectate friends games, sever quality is poor (I swear everyday I would have situations where shooting vent/glass doesn't break even though I see the bullet hit it, and sometimes it even happens twice in a row), dying around corners happens often, no killcam, can't set your weapons/gadgets to "random skin" which changes every match or on respawn, No endorsement for opponents/teammates option, lack of stats on player profile(most played gun, class, headshot accuracy), (Wish I could see how many matches people leave on average lol), Camo skin grind is tedious and doesn't have any "challenges" just xp not to mention the camo skins are pretty meh.

> Lack of Rewarding gameplay.

This is also something that isn't discussed very often, and that's because there aren't really that many systems in place for it yet, it has however gotten better (You get team wipe bonus popups, small thing but made team wiping others feel much more meaningful and rewarding, same with stopping cashout steals etc, good job EMBARK) However something that I've noticed playing with my friend every now and then is that, to some people it doesn't feel too fun to play or even win unless you're fragging out, now what I mean by this directly ties into lack of variety, I get it, it's a shooter, and eliminations are basically king, as well as objective, but the support playstyle / objective based playstyle is lacking and doesn't feel rewarding to some myself included but I play for eliminations most of the time anyway, as opposed to something like in Overwatch or even Tf2 where being a support or objective based felt far more impactful / meaningful and rewarding.
Solution: Add in more systems to make the aforementioned playstyles feel more rewarding for players who aren't only focusing on shooting others, Gooed an opponent -> Get Assist if they die, tased someone and they died to your teammate but you didn't damage them? Give them an assist, same with glitch effects, sonar effects, caused a player to fall down, get a elimination, maybe implement a system where your performance is ranked and it shows what the player has done (How much health you actually healed compared to match average, or your personal average etc) Overwatch had a system similar to this and although I last played it many years ago it was very rewarding to see, and I'm sure other casual players who aren't fps freaks will find more enjoyment in the game.
I apologize for the long read and I hope you enjoyed it, note I unfortunately do not work at EMBARK and these are just my experiences and opinions, they aren't fact, they can be completely wrong or even bad, and I'm sure devs know far better than I do about what the game needs or doesn't need, I just hope that it had some valuable insight for other community members or maybe a dev at EMBARK, thank you and see you at the finals!
