2024.05.27 18:41 Lysimachiakis Biweekly Telephone Game v3 (594)

This is a game of borrowing and loaning words! To give our conlangs a more naturalistic flair, this game can help us get realistic loans into our language by giving us an artificial-ish "world" to pull words from!
The Telephone Game will be posted every Monday and Friday, hopefully.

Rules

1) Post a word in your language, with IPA and a definition.
Note: try to show your word inflected, as it would appear in a typical sentence. This can be the source of many interesting borrowings in natlangs (like how so many Arabic words were borrowed with the definite article fossilized onto it! algebra, alcohol, etc.)
2) Respond to a post by adapting the word to your language's phonology, and consider shifting the meaning of the word a bit!
3) Sometimes, you may see an interesting phrase or construction in a language. Instead of adopting the word as a loan word, you are welcome to calque the phrase -- for example, taking skyscraper by using your language's native words for sky and scraper. If you do this, please label the post at the start as Calque so people don't get confused about your path of adopting/loaning.

History and Tradition of Graduation Bouquets

Origins of Graduation Flowers

The tradition of giving flowers at graduation ceremonies dates back centuries. Historically, flowers were given as tokens of appreciation and congratulations. In ancient Greece, laurel wreaths were often awarded to scholars and athletes as a mark of honor.

Symbolism in Different Cultures

Different cultures attach various meanings to flowers. In Western cultures, roses and lilies are popular for their beauty and symbolize success and purity. In Asian cultures, orchids and chrysanthemums are often chosen for their association with elegance and longevity.

Choosing the Perfect Flowers

Popular Flowers for Graduation Bouquets

Selecting the right flowers for a graduation bouquet can be daunting. Popular choices include roses, lilies, orchids, and sunflowers. Each flower has its unique charm and significance.

Color Meanings and Their Impact

Colors play a crucial role in conveying messages. Red symbolizes passion and achievement, yellow represents joy and friendship, and white denotes purity and new beginnings. Understanding these meanings can help you choose the perfect bouquet.

Types of Graduation Bouquets

Classic Floral Bouquets

Traditional bouquets often feature a mix of roses, lilies, and greenery. They exude elegance and timeless beauty, making them a favorite choice for many.

Modern and Trendy Arrangements

Modern bouquets featuring exotic flowers and unique arrangements are ideal for those looking to make a statement. Think of succulents, proteas, and anthuriums combined in a chic presentation.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Options

With a growing emphasis on sustainability, eco-friendly bouquets made from locally sourced, organic flowers are becoming increasingly popular. These arrangements not only look beautiful but also support environmental conservation.

DIY Graduation Bouquets

Materials Needed

Creating a DIY graduation bouquet is a rewarding experience. You’ll need fresh flowers, floral tape, scissors, and decorative wrapping.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Own Bouquet

Choose Your Flowers: Select a variety of flowers that complement each other.
Prepare the stems: Trim the stems at an angle to ensure they absorb water efficiently.
Arrange the flowers: Start with the largest blooms and add smaller ones around them.
Secure the Bouquet: Use floral tape to hold the stems together.
Wrap and Decorate: Finish with a decorative wrap and ribbon for a polished look.

Top Graduation Bouquets for Different Personalities

For the Trendsetter

Opt for a bold arrangement with exotic flowers like orchids and anthuriums for the graduate who loves to stand out.

Aya Yorgi Monastery: A Hidden Gem on Büyükada
Nestled on the serene island of Büyükada, part of the Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, lies the Aya Yorgi Monastery. This historic and religious site is a hidden gem, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike. With a rich history dating back centuries, Aya Yorgi offers a unique blend of spirituality, history, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring Istanbul and its surroundings.
https://preview.redd.it/8a4mj3fvxu2d1.jpg?width=713&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d89720fcc3e300d45898bb085e24d977fd6ca22c

Historical Background

The Aya Yorgi Monastery, also known as the Monastery of St. George, has roots extending back to Byzantine times. It is believed that the original structure was built in the 6th century, although the current building dates from the 18th century. The monastery is dedicated to St. George, a revered saint in both Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
Throughout its history, the monastery has been a significant pilgrimage site. It gained prominence during the Ottoman era, when Christians from various parts of the empire would visit to seek the saint's intercession. The monastery's remote location on a hilltop added to its allure, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling life of Istanbul.

Pilgrimage and Traditions

One of the most unique aspects of Aya Yorgi is the annual pilgrimage that takes place on April 23rd and September 24th. On these dates, thousands of visitors, including many from Istanbul, flock to the island to participate in the rituals and seek blessings. The journey to the monastery is considered an act of penance and devotion.
The pilgrimage involves a steep climb up the hill, with many pilgrims choosing to walk barefoot as a sign of humility and reverence. Along the way, it is common to see pilgrims tying ribbons and strings to trees and shrubs, making wishes and prayers as they ascend. The atmosphere is charged with spirituality, as people from different backgrounds come together in shared faith.

Architectural and Artistic Significance

The architecture of Aya Yorgi Monastery is a fine example of traditional Greek Orthodox design. The building is relatively modest in size, with a simple yet elegant façade. Inside, the church is adorned with beautiful icons, frescoes, and religious artifacts that reflect the rich heritage of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
The iconostasis, a wall of icons and religious paintings, separates the nave from the sanctuary and is a highlight of the interior. The craftsmanship and artistry involved in creating these icons are remarkable, showcasing the devotion and skill of the artists.

Natural Beauty and Scenic Views

Beyond its religious and historical significance, Aya Yorgi offers breathtaking natural beauty. The monastery is situated on Yücetepe, the highest point on Büyükada, providing panoramic views of the island and the surrounding sea. The journey to the top is rewarded with stunning vistas, making it a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers.
The island itself is a haven of tranquility, free from the hustle and bustle of city life. With its car-free policy, visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or bike rides through pine forests, along charming streets lined with historic wooden mansions. The serene environment complements the spiritual experience of visiting the monastery.

Practical Information for Visitors

Aya Yorgi Monastery is accessible by ferry from Istanbul, with regular services departing from Kabataş and Bostancı. Once on Büyükada, visitors can reach the monastery either by walking or by hiring a horse-drawn carriage, known locally as a fayton. The climb to the monastery is quite steep, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
The monastery is open to visitors year-round, but the best times to visit are during the pilgrimage dates for those interested in experiencing the religious fervor. However, for a more tranquil experience, visiting during the off-peak season is advisable.
In conclusion, Aya Yorgi Monastery is a captivating destination that offers a rich tapestry of history, spirituality, and natural beauty. Whether you are a pilgrim seeking spiritual solace or a traveler looking to explore the cultural heritage of Istanbul, a visit to this monastery promises a memorable and enriching experience.

Memory transcription subject: Commodore Katsuo Hara, Titan Shipyards, Leto Hall
Date [standardized human time]: 1450 November 12, 2136
My wife ran her hands over my dress uniform, a gentle smile on her face. "You always were a handsome man, Katsuo." Her traditional cherry blossom pattern kimono, made with now irreplicable silks, contrasted my navy white as she adjusted the medals and ribbons slightly.
"Thank you, Tomoko, but it is only your beauty that makes me so." I kissed my wife's hand gently. "I just hope I don't fumble the ceremony."
"You won't." Outside the musicians began playing, indicating 10 minutes till the start of the proceedings. "I should take my seat. Be radiant, husband." She turned slowly and walked out the prep room, taking her seat in the second row.
I in turn went to check on the groom. Wilhelm was unusually fidgety. The man known for being constant perfection and stoicism was showing the stress of the moment. "Relax Ehricke-kun." I said as I pat him on the back. "I have to do all the work, all you need to do is say a few words."
"Ja, thank you mein kapitan." He took a deep breath, setting his jaw and face in stone once more. "Wilhelm ist perfection."
"Hai." Out in the hall the music changed. "Come, Ehrickle-kun. It's time."
"Jawohl."
The two of us stepped out into the main hall, with Wilhelm taking his place on my left. I could see the cameras in the back, knowing they were broadcasting not just to the fleet, or even to the UN, but across every available frequency to the entire universe.
No pressure.
The hall went silent, then a pair of singers took up their roles.
"Is this the last time?
Is this the last adventure?
We journeyed outward,
and we survived together..."
The procession began, the wedding party coming out in pairs. First was Tevye, the venlil engineer we saved at the start of our crusade. Holding his arm was Able Space-ven Sipha. The awkwardness of both of them in a human wedding was strangely adorable.
After them came Chief Uriel, escorting Elena Sapir, Azrael's young cousin. As they reached the front, Uriel pointed at his eyes, then at Wilhelm, a good natured "threat" that caused the audience to chuckle.
Finally, came Captain Edward Evans from the Samuel B. Roberts, my former right hand, and Wilhelm's best man. Arm in arm with him was Lieutenant Lei Xaioling, my former commissary, now Edward's first officer.
Set your pack down by the fire
We settle now as we desire
A three year journey now is done
Or has it only now begun?
Everyone took their positions, and there was a pause, during which Azrael appeared at the door of the hall, holding onto her father Simon's arm. Here elegant dress was immaculate white with blue accents. A single voice took up a new song, a beautiful rendition of Od Yshama sung by a man with a beautiful, powerful voice. As the walked down the isle, I saw Simon pull out a cloth from his pocket, wiping his eyes as he led his daughter to us.
"Gathered friends," I began. "We are here today to celebrate a new union. So I ask, who is the bride to be?"
"I, Azrael, daughter of Simon and Rebecca."
"And who is it that gives Azrael as bride to be?"
"I, Simon Sapir, Lieutenant Colonel, Israeli Defense Forces, retired, do give my daughter to be the bride," said her father, his voice booming out across the hall.
"Does Azrael come willingly, free of undue influence or forces beyond her control?
"I do."
"Very well. Who is it that wishes to be bound to Azrael, life for life, spirit for spirit."
"I do, Vilhelm, zon of Gerard und Annalise"
And Wilhelm, do you come willingly, free of undue influence or forces beyond your control?"
"Ja, I do."
"Mister Sapir, you may be seated." Simon kissed his daughter on the cheeks and took his seat beside his wife. Azrael was smiling from ear to ear, while Wilhelm struggled with a slight case of the giggles. "Welcome family and friends. We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the marriage of Azrael and Wilhelm. This is not the beginning of a new relationship but an acknowledgment of the next chapter in their lives. Together, they have fought, strived, bled, and sacrificed, and we now bear witness to what their relationship has become. Today, they will affirm this bond formally and publicly."
I took a deep breath and continued. "Azrael and Wilhelm will mark their transition as a couple not only by celebrating the love between themselves, but by also celebrating the love between all of us—including the love of their parents, siblings, extended family, and best friends. It is the same love felt between billions of couples of all species across the galaxy. As their commanding officer, it is both my honor and privilege to have served with them, and to lead this celebration."
"So now, Azrael, do you take Wilhelm to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in times of joy and times of strife, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
And do you Wilhelm take Azrael to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and strife, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto her for as long as you both shall live?
"I do!"
"May I have the rings please?" Edward made a show of searching his pockets, turning to Lei who produced the rings seemingly out of thin air and handed them to me. I shook my head in amusement, before holding up the rings. "A ring of gold, and a ring of iron, beauty and strength. These rings represent the unbroken circle of your lives, encompassing your immortal souls. By bestowing them upon each other, you give yourselves without beginning or end." I turned to the bride, holding up the first ring. "Azrael, take this ring of gold, place it on Wilhelm's finger, and pledge yourself to him."
"I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, always, and forever. May its beauty shine as your light forever."
I turned to Wilhelm next. "And now Wilhelm, take this ring of iron, place it on Azrael's finger, and pledge yourself to her."
"I give to you zis ring az a zymbol of my love vit ze pledge: to love you today, tomorrow, alvays, und forever. May itz strength protect you from all danger, and keep you zafe now und alvays."
I put my hands on each of their shoulders as the couple beamed happily at each other. "Before these witnesses, and every being in the whole galaxy, you have pledged to be joined in marriage. You have now sealed this pledge with your wedding rings, binding you together forever. By the authority vested in me by the United Nations of Earth, I pronounce you to be husband and wife."
The whole audience cheered as Azrael grabbed Wilhelm, pulling him to her and planting a kiss on him. The wedding party quickly fell back to the rear of the hall where a set of swords waited for them. As Azrael and Wilhelm walked down the aisle together, Edward's voice boomed out "PRESENT ARMS!" The swords were drawn, held in an arch through which the couple walked, but before they could clear it, Edward lowered his sword, blocking their path. Cameras flashed as the couple kissed again, and Edward pulled his sword in. As Azrael and Wilhelm passed him, the swung the sword back, catching both of them on the rear with the flat of the blade.
"And now ladies and gentlemen, while the photographers and news media have their way with the happy couple, please proceed to the adjacent hall for cocktail hour."
As the crowd filed out, my wife found me once more, positively glowing. "That was perfect, husband."
"Good. You know, I've led my men in to battle a dozen times, but none of them made me this nervous."
"Bah, you humble yourself too much, Katsuo. Now, let's go next door ourselves. I hear there is a bottle of Hakkaisan Tokubetsu Junmai with your name on it."

2024.05.25 16:52 giftsaved Thinking Outside the Gift Box: Unique Diwali Presents for a Memorable Celebration

The “Festival of Lights” Diwali is known for its vibrancy, signifying the victory of good over evil. Traditionally, family and friends give presents, burst crackers, enjoy sweets, and decorate their houses with handmade lamps and rangolis. But have you considered stirring the pot and adding a little uniqueness?
In this article, we are suggesting modernizing and innovating those traditional processes. Buckle up, my friends! We’re about to embark on a journey to ‘light up Diwali differently’. Here are some unique Diwali gifts that will make your celebration memorable.
Discovering the Joy of Unique Diwali Decorations
You know, old jars, broken bangles, and unused wrapping paper may make beautiful Diwali ornaments. So, celebrate this Diwali in a different way. Simple objects may become ‘festive exquisite’ with a little touch of creativity. This is the perfect way to celebrate the festival in a memorable way.
Transforming Household Items into Diwali Decor
We all have that drawer full of random items. These unused items create the most innovative ideas. Diwali décor may be in the ‘palm of your drawers’. So, old CDs turned into wall hangings, mason jars into candle holders, and threads and ribbons into colorful torans. Let’s celebrate a ‘waste-free Diwali’ and make your loved ones happy.
Using Local Art in Decor
Our different arts are showcased well at festival celebrations. Choose Warli, Madhubani, or Pattachitra art for Diwali and incorporate them into your festival appearance. A brilliant Saura painting on your wall or a clay Gond Ravana protecting your entryway might add originality to your ‘light and brightness’ vibe. So, this is a one-of-a-kind way to celebrate Diwali.
Light Up with DIY Lanterns and Candles
Remember the joy of childhood craft work? Make handmade lanterns and candles to recreate the excitement of the festival. Grab some wax, wick, and some pretty glasses and start having fun! Add essential oils to your DIY candles for a sensory experience. Isn’t the handcrafted candle’s sparkle lyrical proof of your victory over darkness? So, let’s celebrate Diwali in our own way.
Innovative Ideas for Unconventional Diwali Gifts
Diwali is about giving gifts and spreading happiness. Why choose the easy path when you can change things up? Add some creativity to your celebration with these unconventional gift ideas.
Edible Treats with a Twist
This festival, put together some fusion sweets for celebration. Wasabi or lavender laddoos? Use your creativity to combine worldwide and Indian delicacies. It would be the talk of town and top-taste surprise! With these delights, your festival will be unforgettable.
Green Gifts – Plants and Eco-friendly Products
Plants symbolize love and longevity. Add a succulent or medicinal plant to your loved ones’ celebration. Gift eco-friendly beauty products, organic honey, or handmade soaps to inspire. That unique gift will surely delight your family and friends.
Making Diwali Celebrations Special with Extraordinary Rituals
Are you ready for unmatched Diwali time? Say welcome to unconventional rituals! Adding something special to your Diwali celebration will bring you a lot of joy and happiness.
A Day for Nature
For rangolis, use leaves and flowers instead of paintbrushes. Spend a day gardening, planting trees, or hanging bird feeders. Moreover, nature’s color calms you like nothing else. So what are you waiting for? Celebrate Diwali in a way that is good for the environment and makes everyone happy. Besides that, it will protect our earth.
Unusual Family Games
Who said lighting up lives could not be enjoyable? Organize a scavenger hunt with kids to ‘find lost joys’, or initiate ‘tell a gratitude story’ round during the Diwali dinner. Happiness and laughter would be louder than the brightest crackers. That is why these family games are great for making memories.
Creating More Happiness by Embracing Social Causes
This Diwali, why not shine a light on the overlooked corners? By helping other people, you can make your Diwali celebration one you will never forget. Moreover, these social causes make you feel good about helping others.
Spreading the Joy
Celebrating in an orphanage or old-age home will be the best thing to do this Diwali. Share the homemade treats and stories. Also, if possible, light up their place. Trust us, the smiles you see will outshine any diyas.
Clean Diwali Celebration
Decorate with local flowers for a biodegradable Diwali. Skip crackers to fight air and noise pollution. This will help protect our environment from the spread of harmful gasses. Therefore, that is also one of the best, one-of-a-kind gifts for all Indians.
Supporting Local Artisans
Supporting art maintains community and tradition. Buy local goods like handmade lamps or decorative items to support a narrative and an aim. You’re not just buying things; rather, you’re investing in a story and an aspiration.
Finally, Diwali gift hampers create a stunning, unique memory. Creative possibilities are endless, like a starburst in the sky, and excitement awaits like beautifully wrapped Diwali gifts. The beauty of Diwali lies in making it personal, meaningful, and nifty. Let’s write our own traditions and light up Diwali in our own way.

2024.05.25 10:24 Proof-Diamond-5764 Kai Malu (My Pokemon OC) Meets Team Sky

( Just a small story with little dialogue that I wanted to write, small disclaimer however, I was starting to write this before I saw Orange’s playthrough in the Alola region and I had no idea that they had a league. Kai was supposed to be the only gym trainer in Alola, so this might not make sense in that regard. I started a playthrough of Ultra Sun myself and had no idea about the league or even the Kanto gym so, oh well)
It was a beautiful day in the Alola Region, and a small crowd was gathered around a large Gym on Melemele Island. The Gym looked like a modern Gym you would find somewhere in the Kalos Region, but it was mixed with traditional Alolan architecture, with stone walls with different murals and a large dome on the top made of woven bamboo and palm leaves. It also had a few mosaics scattered around the walls depicting different events in Alolan history. At the front of it was Kai Malu, who is tall with toned muscles, sun-kissed tan skin and ocean-blue eyes. His white hair is braided on the top, leading into a short braided ponytail at the back, as well as two braided locks of hair that hang in front of his face held back by a bandana patterned with different Pokémon Types. He wears a short-sleeved, floral button-up shirt and cargo shorts. Around his neck, he wears a necklace made of various stones that represent different Pokémon elements, and on his right wrist, he has a Z-Ring. His footwear of choice is open-toed sandals that have seen better days but remain functional. He is also seen carrying a satchel that is crafted from a rich, weathered leather, darkened and softened by age. It's adorned with intricate patterns that mix traditional Alolan symbols with universal Pokémon motifs. The clasp is shaped like a stylized Lycanroc. Woven threads of orange and blue contrast with the dark leather and add a bit more contrast, showing that it had been resewn a few times. Next to him stood a Midnight Form Lycanroc with a similar necklace, looking proud and ready to pounce on something. The excitement in the air was palpable and people and pokemon alike were chatting about with each other. Kai raised his hands and addressed the crowd, with everyone quieting down.
Kai: Thank you all for coming. I want to say it is a great pleasure of mine to bring something new to our little community, especially something as big as this. Me and my team have worked hard the past few years to bring you Alola’s first and only Gym, as well as the world’s first all Type Gym!
The crowd was ecstatic at the reveal of what the building was, having been under wraps for so long. Kai was known for doing some pretty wild stuff, but this took the cake. Kai stepped back and motioned to a green ribbon made of palm leaves tied to both sides of the door, and his Lycanroc used his claws to make a clean cut in the middle. The small crowd made their way inside and was stunned at what they saw. Inside they were met with a small foyer filled with decorative plants, a few small water features, and Alolan sculptures. To the left was a reception desk, as well as a place to heal your pokemon and buy items if needed, and to the right was a small museum showcasing the history of Alolan Culture, Pokemon and an area with display cases that held a replica of all the known Z-crystals, with small plaques that gave some info about them for new trainers or tourists. Across from the small museum area was a small training room with different sections tailored to different pokemon types for battlers wanting to train before their fight. Connected to the training room was also a waiting room that had a few lounge chairs and tables, but the main exhibit was a massive window that took up the whole wall that faced off the cliff edge and towards the ocean. The area that most wanted to see was the arena itself, which took up most of the building under the dome. It looked more advanced than the rest of the building, but that was because it held a few tricks that Kai wanted to show off.
Kai: Ok, I know you’ve all been waiting to see the arena, and I’m glad to show you, with a battle of course! Who here wants to be the first to fight Alola’s new Gym Leader?
A few in the crowd looked hesitant, but one hand shot up almost immediately. Kai called them up and a man dressed in mostly green with a backwards cap and goggles on them stopped forward. He had a short beard and mustache, as well as hazel eyes, and he was wearing an open jacket with a black shirt underneath, which had an emblem on it that looked like a stylized S with the colors green and yellow. He also wore green shorts and shoes and had a Glyscor floating next to him.
Mikey: I am Mikey, the leader of Team SKY and I challenge you to a battle!
Kai: Well ok then Mikey, I’m going to guess you use mostly flying types?
Mikey: You would guess correctly my good sir!
Kai: Well ok then, please step on to the opposite platform and we’ll get started!
Mikey took his place on the opposite side of the arena and Kai did the same. Tapping his foot on the floor, a panel lifts up and he hits a button which raises a barrier around the arena and turns on some smoke machines, covering the floor and making it look like a bunch of clouds appeared. Telling Mikey to send out his first pokemon, Glyscor glides out in front of him and settles there. Smirking, Kai pulls a lever before dropping the panel back into the ground, and a fan turns on underneath Glyscor, allowing him to use the updrafts to stay afloat. Kai in turn sends out Watt, his Vikavolt, and the same thing happens. Everyone in the crowd is amazed at the transformation in the arena, including Mikey.
Kai: This is the main idea behind the arena! It can be changed to match a Type for each battle, like how it has changed to match Flying Types in this case! Alright Michael, I’ll let you make the first move! Welcome to Alola Mikey, get ready for the sunniest days you'll experience!

2024.05.24 07:24 MalpracticeConcerns I got really inspired by this community, so I wrote my first ever short story! "Introducing Dove"

“It is time, my lord.” The veteran Astarte’s armor hummed faintly as he kneeled to place a hand on the sleeping figure’s shoulder. The man on the bunk, dressed more like an aristocrat than a warrior, gave his usual reaction- a sleepy grunt and a vain attempt to roll over and hide from the hulking giant at his side. The Space Marine sighed in response. Knowing there was only one course of action guaranteed to succeed with minimal casualties, Brother Thalios rose and moved to the foot of the bunk. He then cleared his throat and stated matter-of-factly, “I suppose I will just have to come back with some cold wate-“
“I’M UP!” The bedraggled man surged to consciousness before his guard could finish the threat, nearly tangling himself in his own robes as he struggled to lunge out of bed and distance himself from the danger of a cold wakeup call. He pressed himself against the ship’s bulkhead, breaths ragged and eyes darting around the room as though searching for a hidden predator. After a few moments, he returned to his senses and took several deep breaths to calm himself. A smile crept across his handsome features as he straightened his clothes. “By the Throne, Thal, you know I hate it when you do that… One of these days you’re going to send me into cardiac arrest with that little stratagem.” His voice was soft and welcoming, a far cry from the bellowed exclamation a few moments prior. The Brother simply raised his armored hand to his chest in a salute. His stoic expression lasted only a moment before he cracked into a smile. “Get that shit-eating grin off your face!” exclaimed the figure in crimson, and the sound of both men’s laughter echoed through the room.
Once his charge was presentable, the two exited the bunkroom and began moving through the ship toward their appointment. Space Marines they encountered stepped aside and saluted as the pair passed. As they entered a lift and descended towards the loading bay, Thalios broke the silence with a feigned tone of concern. “My lord, I cannot help but notice you have coordinated your attire to match my armor yet again. If this keeps up, people may think you are trying to copy the Sanguinary Priests with those white embellishments!”
The man chuckled in response and gave an extravagant spin as if to flaunt his robes. “Ah, but don’t you see Thal? I am trying to copy you! How could I not pursue such a noble aesthetic? Besides…” His gaze dropped as though looking far away and a warm, bashful smile spread across his face. “You know she likes seeing me in these colors.”
For the briefest of moments, the Priest saw everything in this man that his mother did. The passion and beauty of his soul were captivating, the feelings of love exuding from his heart were purer and more intoxicating than the finest amasec. There was a confidence and gentleness in the way he carried himself that could move a statue to lay on his shoulder and seek rest. Past conflicts had left him covered in scars, yet his kindness and faith never once faltered. Thalios’s hearts fluttered before he regained his composure, and the giant was relieved his friend did not see him so captivated. Moments like that one occurred almost daily, yet the veteran was always surprised anew whenever he was lucky enough to see this man’s expressions of love towards his Angel.
As if to help guild Thalios back to reality, the lift abruptly ceased its motion at the designated floor. The Priest’s power armor absorbed such trifling shocks automatically, but his friend stumbled slightly. Thalios’s hand moved to his charge’s shoulder to steady him, and the man looked up with another grateful smile that stirred the veteran’s spirit. He was glad that this time, his stoic expression did not crack to reveal his feelings.
The pair stepped out onto an elevated walkway overseeing a hangar. The space below them was charged with almost frantic energy as Neophytes and full-fledged Battle Brothers worked alongside Tech-Priests and servitors to move cargo into designated areas. Others carried crates of supplies into landing ships arrayed along the edges of the bay. A handful of figures stood apart from the chaos, watching the goings-on from a sort of stage in the center of the room.
A great many eyes glanced at the pair as they moved through the crowds towards the stage, first taking in the giant Space Marine and his notable white pauldron before settling on the young mortal beside him. A few hushed whispers made their way through the clamor into Thalios’s perception. “Is that him?” “He’s smaller than I expected.” “I wonder if he’s really as capable as they say.” The Priest knew the truth, of course. This man, this mortal, was as dangerous as he was charming. The legions of bodies left strewn across the planets he helped bring into compliance were proof enough of his skill and mettle. These soldiers, however, would likely never be lucky enough to see him in action. Emperor willing, they would never be unlucky enough to find themselves in a situation that required him to be called back into service.
Ascending the stage brought the two of them face to face with the ranking Space Marines on board the vessel. “Good day, Captain Haramal. Seraph Damos, good day to you as well. And forgive me, Tech-Priest, I do not believe we have yet been acquainted?” Thalios wanted to groan. For all his strengths, this lovable fool would still blindly charge into a nest of fire scorpions if he thought he could talk to one of them. It did not matter if the other party was unwilling to engage, his friend would always try to initiate pleasantries.
Thankfully, Captain Haramal and the Tech-Priest seemed busy enough to spare only a moment for their honored guest. The captain, whose steely voice and expression seemed just as hard as his ceramite, curtly replied, “Good day, my lord. May I introduce you to Archivist Magos Veridius. He is acting as a liaison for the Explorator Fleet.” A stream of binharic static accompanied a bow from the Tech-Priest, and both he and the Captain returned to discussing the datapad held in the Magos’s dendrite claws. The Seraph, as always, merely smiled and nodded respectfully before returning to his vigilant sentry duty. The Priest returned the gesture with reverence. In nearly 200 years of service, Thalios had only heard Damos’s voice thrice, but there were few others in the galaxy he trusted more.
Thalios’s eyes flicked to a nearby door as it opened. Recognizing the figures stepping out of it, he mentally steeled himself for what was coming next. It would be unpleasant, but it was necessary. He was simply glad they would catch his friend unawares.
A klaxon sounded twice, and the speed of the workers increased in response. The man checked his wristwatch, and Thal noted the way he lovingly ran his fingers across the pattern of feathers on the band. A pang of guilt wracked his heart, but he quashed it. “It’s almost time! Wait… Oh crap, we’re here early! We weren’t supposed to be here early!” The man wheeled around in a panic as though looking for an escape route. “I have to get out of here before they…” His gaze suddenly snapped to Thalios and an uncharacteristic frown marred his face. “YOU! You got me up early so they’d have time for the chair!”
“Yes, well… The entourage is already here.” Thalios and the Seraph acted reflexively to block the man’s path as he tried to flee, not even bothering to look behind him before making the attempt. His eyes once again met Thalios’s, but this time the frown was replaced by an almost fearful, pleading expression. After a moment the man signed as if to accept his fate and turned to face the party he had so desperately hoped to avoid.
A party of five stunning women had joined them all on stage. Clad in diaphanous white silk togas that did nothing to hide their figures, they carried with them several leather cases and satchels. Two of them carried a cushioned, luxuriously made high-backed stool between them. The raven-haired leader of the group, Mistress Laudenia, smiled so sweetly the room seemed to brighten. “My lord, I am so glad we found you! We were worried we would not have time for the beautification before you are presented for the audience!” Thalios could see his friend wilt as he watched the gorgeous team set up the stool, open their cases, and produce numerous brushes, mirrors, and other implements. Eventually though, the man took his place on the chair and let the women fuss over his appearance.
As always, the team was thorough in their work. “Not a hair nor stitch out of place” was their motto, and Thalios knew they would check every fiber of his eminence’s clothing if they deemed it necessary. In fact, it seemed they had indeed found an issue with the blood red and ivory robe, and they moved so quickly to remedy the issue that the man was halfway undressed before he realized what was going on. The women ignored his protestations and quickly adorned him in… an identical robe? Try as he might, Thalios could tell no difference between the robe his charge was now wearing and the one being packed away in a satchel, but the women seemed satisfied with the change and moved on to his friend’s hair.
Roughly twenty minutes passed before Mistress Laudenia clapped her hands together in excitement. “Oh, how gorgeous! Great work girls, great work indeed! Although, it’s easy to make somebody look good when they’re this handsome to start with.” A wink and charming grin accompanied her last comment, but the man either took no notice or was simply too dazed from the whirlwind of activity to respond. He moved to stand by Thalios in silence. Thalios wondered how a man so experienced in battle could be so flummoxed by women with brushes, but eventually he accepted this must be a problem of mortal men that he would never be able to understand.
The klaxon sounded two more times, and the man seemed to snap out of his funk. Finishing touches were put into place on the stage, long ribbons of red and white and gold and a canopy of translucent white cloth. Captain Damos and the Tech-Priest had departed a few minutes earlier, so as the activity wound down only the Seraph, Thalios, and the man in red remained on the stage. Two Sergeants began to organize their companies into ceremonial formations, flanking the raised dais on both sides.
The man began to pace anxiously as minutes passed by. Thalios and the Seraph simply stood side-by-side in silence. After what must have felt like an unbearable eternity, the klaxon sounded for the final time, accompanied by flashing red lights. Once, twice, and then a third time the lights flashed red. At the same time, a gentle shudder was felt throughout the ship as it touched down. The man almost seemed shocked by the sensation of movement, as though he’d forgotten he was on a spacecraft. Now though, they were back on solid ground. Whether he felt ready or not, it was time for him to carry out his duty.
“I’ll be honest, Thal… I don’t know that I’m prepared for this. I mean, I didn’t even write a speech!” He stammered, “I just feel like I have no idea how I’m to try and talk to everyone. I’ve never even seen pictures of Baal Secundus, I don’t know what the people need or want to hear. Yet now I have to…” His words trailed away.
Thalios was in a similar boat. He did not know what to say to help his charge, he simply knew the goal. “You have been chosen as our Lady's partner. You will join her and accomplish great things. Before the two of you unite, however, she wants you to see where her journey began. Baal Secundus is where our Primarch was raised, and there is no holier place besides sacred Terra itself. This is our home, and she wants to share you with her people. Our people. Now, your people too.”
A cynical smile appeared on his friend’s face. “Ah yes, she is sharing me with this planet while she takes on the burden of saving thousands of others. I should be out there, with her. With the rest of your brothers, serving the Emperor. I just… I just don’t see what I’m supposed to be to these people. What can I give them that’s more valuable than contributing to the Great Crusade?”
Silence was the only response. The lights turned from red to green, indicating one minute until the bay doors opened.
Heavy footsteps interrupted the somber quiet as Seraph Damos moved to kneel in front of the man. A deep bass voice rumbled across the stage, surprising everyone within earshot. “You can give them hope, my lord. That is all that is needed of you.” The giant in gold placed a hand on the man’s shoulder reassuringly.
“Seraph Damos is right,” Thalios added. “The past centuries have shown our people nothing but battles and bloodshed. I believe what our Angel seeks now is a new symbol, one of kindness and accord. Of all the men and women in our Empire, there is none better suited than you. So says Lady Sanguinia.” Seraph Damos nodded, smiled, and rose to return to his station at Thalios’s side.
The bay doors began to lift, and the entirety of the hangar floor slid forward to present the Space Marine formation and stage. As soon as the sunlight touched the glorious red armor of the Blood Angels, a wave of sound crashed into the arranged men. Millions of men, women and children were gathered on the plains before the massive ship, cheering at the sight of the Emperor’s chosen warriors high above them.
Thalios looked at his friend and was surprised to see a confident smile on his face. The man no longer seemed phased by the prospects of being introduced to the legion’s homeworld. “You wear the mantle of responsibility well, my friend. You truly are her symbol of hope.” As he stepped forward into the sunlight and the crowd roared louder in approval, the man seemed to melt away, replaced by something… more. Something angelic. The Priest’s breath caught in his chest at the sight.
“No, Thal. Not just hope.” He looked back at the Priest with a knowing smile. “I’m her symbol of peace.

“This is why she calls me Dove.”

//
Thanks for reading, and thank you for taking part in such a fun and inspiring community! I wanted a story where the focus wasn't just the SO, but rather how they kinda fit into the existing framework of the legion. I intentionally avoided calling him Dove until the end because I wanted to build up the character a bit before putting significance on the name itself, but I'm not sure if that made the rest of the story clunky to read.
For Blood Angels in particular, I wanted to include a couple legion-specific details. The big one was the shared psychic response between Sanguinia and her Astartes. In 40k all the Blood Angels get murder-ragey at the thought of Horus due to the psychic bond between the Primarch and the legion, so why not let them love Dove for the same reason in this AU? I also wanted to include some details about the Sanguinary Priests because I just learned about them recently. The Sanguinary Priests are all master healers and combatants, so assigning one of them to be Dove's bodyguard seems fitting. Also titles are super hard, honestly it was harder for me to get a two or three word title than it was to write the other 2400 words lol.
If you want more Blood Angels content or other legions, please let me know :)

Popular Flowers for Graduation Bouquets

Roses

Roses are a classic choice for any occasion, symbolizing love, respect, and admiration. They are available in various colors, each carrying its own meaning, making them a versatile option for graduation bouquets.

Lilies

Lilies represent purity, commitment, and transitions, making them an excellent choice for celebrating the new beginnings that come with graduation.

Personal Messages

Including a heartfelt message or a favorite quote can make the bouquet even more special. It’s a simple yet effective way to convey your sentiments.

Incorporating School Colors

Using flowers and wrapping materials in the school’s colors shows school spirit and adds a cohesive look to the bouquet.

Creative Themes for Graduation Bouquets

Academic Achievements

A bouquet themed around academic achievements can include elements like mini diplomas, tiny graduation caps, or flowers representing wisdom and knowledge.

Future Aspirations

Celebrate the graduate’s future plans by incorporating symbols of their chosen career path or aspirations. For example, add a small stethoscope for a future doctor or a paintbrush for an aspiring artist.

Hobbies and Interests

Personalize the bouquet further by including elements related to the graduate’s hobbies and interests, making it a true reflection of who they are.

DIY Graduation Bouquets

Selecting the Right Flowers

Choose flowers that are meaningful to the graduate or that align with the theme you’ve chosen. Consider the symbolism and color palette to create a cohesive look.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Gather your materials: flowers, wrapping paper, ribbons, scissors, and decorative elements.
  2. Trim the stems and arrange the flowers in your desired order.
  3. Wrap the bouquet securely, ensuring all stems are covered.
  4. Add ribbons and decorative elements to enhance the presentation.

Tips for Long-Lasting Bouquets

To ensure the bouquet lasts as long as possible, keep it in water until it’s time to present it. Afterward, the graduate should place it in a vase with fresh water and flower food.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Bouquets

Using Local and Seasonal Flowers

For the Adventurous Spirit

Include bold and vibrant flowers like sunflowers and exotic blooms, wrapped in colorful, unconventional materials.

For the Artistic Soul

Opt for unique and visually striking flowers like orchids, arranged in an artistic and creative manner.

Choosing the Right Florist

Local vs. Online Florists

Local florists provide a personalized touch and the advantage of viewing flowers in person, while online florists offer convenience and a broader selection. For example, Floral Garage Singapore is an online florist that offers a variety of flower collections to suit any budget, along with a free door-to-door delivery service.

Reading Reviews and Testimonials

Check reviews and testimonials to ensure the florist has a good reputation for quality and service.

Choose a florist that offers customization options to create a bouquet that perfectly suits the graduate’s style and preferences.

Budget-Friendly Bouquet Ideas

Affordable Flower Choices

Select affordable yet beautiful flowers like carnations, daisies, and chrysanthemums to create a stunning bouquet without breaking the bank.

DIY vs. Professional Bouquets

Consider making the bouquet yourself to save money and add a personal touch. However, professional bouquets can offer a polished and sophisticated look.

Tips for Saving Money

Buy flowers in bulk, choose seasonal blooms, and opt for simpler designs to keep costs down.

Presentation Tips

Arranging the Bouquet

Arrange the flowers in a balanced and visually appealing way, with taller flowers in the center and shorter ones around the edges.

Wrapping Techniques

Use creative wrapping techniques, such as layering different materials or adding decorative elements like lace or ribbons.

Adding the Final Touches

Finish the bouquet with a personal note, a small gift, or a decorative charm to make it extra special.

Caring for Graduation Bouquets

Keeping Flowers Fresh

Keep the bouquet in water as much as possible, and refresh the water regularly to keep the flowers hydrated.

2024.05.24 03:05 dropsunshineandrun How common are/were souvenir medals from WWII to Vietnam?

I am not a medal collector, but do think they're fascinating. One thing that I've been kind of astonished by is the lack of large amounts of medals and ribbons relative to the amount offered today. I have a relative who was in 5 campaigns in Vietnam, and has only 4 medals and a ribbon to show for his effort (Good conduct, national defense service, Vietnam service, Vietnam campaign, CAR). This can be compared to another relative who was in the US Navy for a year and came out with 4 medals and a ribbon rack big enough to cover a dollar bill.
I know the amount and scope of awards has evolved over time, and has varied per branch of service, but there's a cultural/historical quirk that's been eating at me - I see occassional commemorative medals for honorable discharges (there'a ruptured duck commemorative), individual battles/events (ei. the Tet Offensive), and even in-country National Guard operations (there's one for border security). People appreciate symbols of their efforts and of milestones, but I've seen very little of this in terms of commemorative medals made during the 1940s and into the 1980s.
Confederate veterans had no official medals, but wore reunion pins as medals. WWI veterans might have had commemorative medals for battles such as Verdun, but I've only seen one single WWII example, which was an Iwo Jima commemorative. I've seen nothing at all about Korea or Vietnam from their own time frames.
Were commemoratives something that just wasn't done for a few decades?

2024.05.24 02:53 GanacheConfident6576 an idea for emblem designs; and a discussion about symbolism , and adaptation to different cultures

hi; just sharing a random idea that hit me recently; together with the background of it; if you already know of the background sorry for the reundency.
one of the distinctive things about socalist style emblems besides their generally circular shape and their tendency to use ribbons in the colors of the appropriate national flag is that the emblem's main design is often mostly or wholly encircled by wreaths of domesticated plants.
the most typically such plant is wheat. this makes sense as wheat is the single most important crop in European agriculture; it is grown frequently in Europe and also eaten constantly in many forms by Europeans, indeed many European languages have idioms that use "bread" (remember wheat is a major ingredient of bread and bread is the main method of human consumption of wheat) as a term for food more generally ("breadbasket" "daily bread"; or even "breadwinner"); so the symbolism of using it to represent plenty in the context of socalist heraldry is readily understandable and almost self explanatory. for that reason the emblem of the soviet union and its republics used wheat as the framing plant. it later spread beyond that one country to many others that use socialist heraldry. wheat is not the only plant used in that capacity however. in Aisia, wheat is not unknown but it is not the overarching staple of everyone's fields and dinner tables it is in Europe; instead, the staple crop is rice.
rice is important to the agriculture of Asia. the human domestication of rice is considered by scholars to be the birth of agriculture in Asia. many Asian languages would not use idioms that refer to "bread"; but will use similar expressions that instead refer to "rice". some of those idioms actually have pretty clear analogues in European languages but they use rice in Asia and bread in Europe (for example many Asian languages use a phrase that is meant like the European "bread basket" but the literal meaning is "rice bowl"). many universal ideas have different manifestations which vary not in their essential core but in their details. I would accuse an ideology with no capacity for that of being suited for only 1 country. the emblems of china, north korea, vietnam, (and formerly cambodia) take account of that fact and the circular shapes on which those emblems main designs are placed are surrounded not by wheat but by rice.
I acknowledge that some emblems use multiple plants to represent agriculture and plenty and occasionally other plants do feature; but rice and wheat are the staples; socialist heraldry often has those frame the emblem.
one thing I remember learning about agricultural staples is that there is a third crop that was the basis of many civilizations agriculture to a similar degree. this crop is corn. still very impotent in the Americas but to Native American civilizations it was the spine of their agriculture to a similar extent as wheat in Europe and rice in Aisia. if I remember correctly many native American languages have idioms that use "corn" as a way to refer to food generally.
now for the idea I wonder what socialist style emblems would look like if framed by corn instead of wheat or rice. I think the reason it has not already happened is that their are few countries that are Native American majority and none of those have yet become socialist. this is an idea others may use or ignore at will; I just wanted to get it out there.

2024.05.24 02:52 Norarri Favorite Astarion/BG3 quotes for Con Ribbons

Hi all ☺️
Looking for some help with coming up with good “shortish” quotes. Quotes can be from any of the BG3 squad but Astarion is preferred.
The convention I’m attending this fall has a thing where you put ribbons on your badge. People will make ribbons and give them out/trade with others. My fiancé and I have been making ribbons for a few years now and we have a few ideas already. I really want to make a “special” ribbon to give out when I’m wearing my Astarion Cosplays. I’m gonna add a special charm to them like a blood drop or dagger
So far I’ve got ideas for Astarion - Bloodless - Happy
We also have - STOP LICKING THE DAMN THING - Power courses through you. Authority
We can also add symbols to the ribbons with a little photo shop magic! I’ll also comment a picture of what the ribbons look like on a badge.

Proposed flag for my town/region (TCB Australia) by me. Rate & tips
The orange represents the horizon/one of the official colours of our local native people (gubbi gubbi). The red white and red triangle is the flag of our yacht club. The blue at the bottom is for the ocean, and the shield is a modified one of the school here, showing all the iconic town symbolism. Two native rosemary leaves (that are used by the gubbi Gubbi people) is under it. The top ribbon has our town name on it, with the other official native colour (purple). All done on flipaclip

2024.05.23 00:14 Ok-One-3240 What the heck is the ribbon symbol on these emails? I have a user asking me, and I can not find any documentation on it. I believe this will be O2016, not 365. I think it's related to them being an external sender, but I can not confirm.

Whether gracing a kitchen countertop, adorning a living room coffee table, or taking center stage in a grand entryway, sunflower bouquets have an unparalleled ability to infuse any space with a sense of warmth and vibrancy. Their cheerful presence and vibrant hues are an instant mood-booster, evoking feelings of joy and positivity that can transform even the dullest of rooms into a welcoming and uplifting haven.
A Symbol of Resilience and Optimism
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, sunflowers hold a deeper symbolism that resonates with many. These resilient blooms are known for their ability to follow the sun's path across the sky, turning their faces towards its radiant warmth and light. This innate quality serves as a powerful metaphor for embracing life's challenges with optimism and resilience, reminding us to seek out the silver linings and embrace the positive aspects of any situation.
Sunflower Bouquets for Every Occasion
The versatility of sunflower bouquets extends far beyond their decorative appeal. These vibrant floral arrangements can elevate and enhance a wide range of occasions, making them a popular choice for both personal and professional settings.
Adding a Touch of Sunshine to Celebrations
From weddings and anniversaries to birthdays and graduations, sunflower bouquets can infuse any celebration with a touch of warmth and joy. Their cheerful presence complements the festive ambiance, creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to bask in the joy of the moment.
Brightening Up Professional Spaces
In the realm of business and professional settings, sunflower bouquets can serve as a refreshing and uplifting addition to office spaces, conference rooms, and reception areas. Their vibrant hues and cheerful presence can help create a welcoming and positive environment, fostering a sense of warmth and creativity that can inspire productivity and collaboration.
Crafting the Perfect Sunflower Bouquet: Tips and Techniques
While sunflower bouquets exude a natural beauty and charm, there are a few tips and techniques that can elevate their impact and ensure they remain a stunning focal point for as long as possible.
Choosing the Right Sunflower Varieties
Not all sunflowers are created equal. When crafting a beautiful sunflower bouquet, consider incorporating a variety of sunflower types, such as the classic yellow giants, the vibrant red sunburst varieties, or the delicate pale yellow dwarfs. Mixing and matching different sizes, colors, and textures can add depth and visual interest to your arrangement.
Complementary Accents and Fillers
While sunflowers are undoubtedly the stars of the show, complementary accents and fillers can take your bouquet to new heights. Consider incorporating lush greenery, delicate baby's breath, or other seasonal blooms that complement the warm hues and rustic charm of sunflowers. These additional elements can add visual interest, texture, and a touch of whimsy to your creation.
Presentation and Personalization
The presentation of your sunflower bouquet can be just as important as the flowers themselves. Choose vases, containers, or wrappings that complement the overall aesthetic and occasion. Consider adding personal touches, such as ribbons, charms, or handwritten notes, to make your gift truly unique and meaningful.
Caring for Your Sunflower Bouquet
To ensure your sunflower bouquet maintains its vibrant beauty for as long as possible, it's essential to follow proper care and handling techniques.
Hydration and Maintenance
Sunflowers are thirsty blooms, so it's crucial to keep them well-hydrated. Change the water in the vase regularly, and consider adding a floral preservative to extend the life of your bouquet. Additionally, remove any wilted or discolored blooms to maintain the overall appearance of the arrangement.
Optimal Display Conditions
Sunflowers thrive in bright, sunny environments, so choose a location with ample natural light to display your bouquet. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight, as this can cause premature wilting and fading. Additionally, keep your sunflower bouquet away from drafts, heat sources, and areas with excessive humidity or dryness.
Conclusion
In a world that often moves at a frantic pace, sunflower bouquets serve as a gentle reminder to pause and embrace the warmth and beauty that surrounds us. These radiant blooms bring a sense of joy, optimism, and resilience into any space they grace, elevating your décor and infusing your surroundings with the vibrant energy of the sun itself.
Whether you're seeking to add a touch of whimsy to your home, enliven a professional setting, or simply indulge in nature's radiant splendor, sunflower bouquets offer a versatile and uplifting choice that never fails to delight. So, why not embrace the sun's warmth and let these stunning floral arrangements illuminate your world with their golden glow? After all, a little sunshine can go a long way in brightening up your day and elevating your spirits.

2024.05.21 23:18 MoonHermit The Greatest BokuBen Secret

Hello, everyone. How are you doing?
Around the time of the announcement of Bokuben' multiple routes, specifically the time around the 3rd route, I've been elaborating a way to reveal the what I believe to be the greatest secret this manga holds. No, it's not who is best girl, or the one true route, or how the girls' stories have parallels with certain fairy tale characters. It's actually the greatest achievement when it comes to hidden aspects that I've ever seen a manga pull off, done in such a way that pretty much nobody has talked about it, to my limited knowledge.
The greatest secret contained in this manga is how every single one of its elements has some parallel to the TAROT. No other manga I've read contains so much inspiration hidden in plain sight as this one.
Number of volumes, symbolism, character traits and interactions, plot progression, route themes, character birthdays, years it was serialized in (2017 to 2021), pretty much everything can be linked in some way to the Tarot. It's so beautiful I laughed like never before when I connected the dots. The hint was the Rizu color page during her route, showing the moon, and her route being the 18th volume. From there, my overthinking brain went into overdrive, and I had an epiphany. For example, did you know the hamster on the cover of volume 9 is named HAMI-chan, which is a reference to HAAMITO (Hermit), the 9th arcana, which is represented by Sawako, whose birthday is on August 3rd (8 = HA, 3 = MI)? That kind of connection is everywhere. Like, volume covers, we have:
How about the first 22-23 chapters? Each one has some relation to the major arcana, in order.
Also, so many small elements on each cover relating to its respective arcana, like the stuff characters are holding (Fumino on vol 1, Rizu on vol 2, etc). The first (Star) and last (World) routes being depicted on the cover of volume 10 (Wheel), possessing a symbolic connection to the "mermaid" when it comes to the Tarot and alchemy, Alchemy itself having the Rizu and Sawako duo represent it (Rizu = psychology, Sawako = chemistry), Nariyuki (Fool) only appearing in person starting from the 4th volume cover, volume 7 (Chariot) having a scooter, and so, so much more.
Don't think the minor arcana were forgotten, either. Each route has some relation to it (Fumino = Pentacles, Rizu = Cups, Asumi = Swords/Scalpels?, Uruka = Wands/Brooms?, Mafuyu = little bit of each), and there are nods on vol 14 (Rizu with a golden ball, representing a pentacle, Fumino's minor arcana) and vol 11 (Fumino holding a cup, Rizu's minor arcana) to them as well.
Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I probably won't be able to finish compiling everything I've gathered into a cohesive file like "Of Ribbons and Lies", so I leave here the notes I did write down. At the very least, I wanted to be the one who tells everybody about the thing that brought me the greatest joy in my life.
Finally, if there's one thing I could ask for, it'd be for Rizu's birthday to be revealed as the same as mine, February 6th. Not only does it relate to her Tarot aspect, it's also the day the first chapter officially came out.
Cheers to everybody! Enjoy!
Peace out.
