I just had one of those crackpot dreams that's so stupid it's entertaining in a "What the fuck is this?" kind of way.
The concept my head dreamt up while I was sleeping? "Danny Zombie Phantom"
It's as stupid as it sounds, but THIS is the dream that somehow ended up with a solid, understandable plot, so here we go.
Danny Fenton finds himself as one of the few survivors of a Zombie Apocalypse. Sort of. Maybe half-survived. Three-quarters survived? Turns out, when your ectology is as strange as his is, you end up one-third ghost, one-third human, and one-third zombie.
To him, this already seems like some kind of messed up dream. He ponders it a second time when he goes back in time to try and prevent the zombies from turning it into an apocalypse, realizing that he isn't the only exception to the "zombie eats human brain" rule.

My exposure to sonic fanfiction has mostly been through one shots and that one crossover with the trash of the count family (https://archiveofourown.org/works/46913566/chapters/118174282).
But I stumbled upon this fic in ff.net randomly while looking for human OC works and was interested.
It's about a socially awkward, blunt and fed up teen literally dragged into Archie Sonic's world as part of some weird prophecy.
It's follow count is around the 500's which is decent compared to the more popular OC fics on FF.net.
What generally interests me is Minor spoiler:
The OC's (Sorun) almost genuine hatred or displeasure with the world and a lot of the people, specifically sonic, although they more out of envy, the explanation for ehich is a bigger spoiler.
He's also a bit of an outsider in terms of the comic tropes so when a new threats comes seemingly biweekly, he cracks a bit every time until a breaking point.
I've never actually read past the first 1 or 2 volumes of Archie so I'm not sure if the main canon is diverging or not but his perspective in things is interesting to me.
My favourite thing has to be that the author isn't afraid to make him an asshole, specifically an unprovoked asshole who takes out his anger or frustration in petty ways because he's still a pretty dumb teenager who does some stupid shit.

Hi, I have a question about playing audiobooks through Google Play Audiobooks. The book I want is only available there and I have not used it before. Is it possible to have it play one chapter at a time and then stop, rather than automatically playing the next chapter? It's a language learning audiobook for my son and I would like for it to stop at the end of each lesson/chapter.
Alternatively, do you know if Google Play audiobooks will play through any other app/on any other device? Like, could I burn it onto a CD and play it on our CD player?

Don’t get me wrong. I loove the series, the good and the bad. But after rewatching season 1, it is so wild to me how much things could have been different (and possibly better) had they followed the original plan of keeping the Oliver, Laurel, and Tommy love triangle.
Killing Tommy was such a bold but destructive move. They’ve developed the character throughout season 1 to just erase him in a blink of an eye with rare references during the rest of the series. As amazing as John Barrowman was in season 1 and in general, his character had no real aim or purpose beyond season 1. Would’ve been much better narratively if Tommy would’ve taken on the mantle of the Dark Archer after Malcolm’s death in the undertaking instead. It especially makes for a dicer storyline because Tommy already knew Oliver was the Arrow and Laurel picked Oliver. The Harry Osbourne route was the most ideal.
They still could’ve done Slade in season 2 while Tommy developing his skills in Nanda Parbat and finding his purpose as the next Dark Archer, culminating in a more logical season 3/4 involving the League of Shadows. Tommy should’ve been Oliver’s Eobard.
Also, just the way Oliver was head over heels for Laurel in the S1 flashbacks and the notion of her being the love of Oliver’s life, constantly undermining her relationship with Tommy, were thrown out of the window inexplicably for Felicity. Man lived in an island for 5 years fantasizing about Laurel and then suddenly pivoted and forgot all about her. Very weird.
Final part of my rant involves Moira. Killing her was a brutal mistake. It’s again a bold decision and makes for a high stakes season but totally destroys Oliver’s public persona. Most of Oliver’s non-vigilante scenes were either at the Queen mansion or Queen Consolidated. Both were no longer relevant after Moira died. Moira should’ve stayed alive and suspicious but unaware of Oliver’s double-life. It helps ground Oliver and make his private life more interesting and the tension more palpable.
Other quick opinions: Roy Harper was underutilized. Laurel should’ve become a meta. Sara should’ve stayed dead after S3. New team arrow shouldn’t have been a thing. Probably better to have had a recurring team or parallel vigilantes but not sidekicks who know Oliver’s identity. Diggle shouldn’t have suited up unless during an emergency. Thea could’ve been better utilized instead of her being a Roy Harper replacement. Lance should’ve died earlier, showcasing how Laurel deals with it while becoming the Black Canary. Magic was dumb to do in S4 or at least could’ve been done better with clear limitations.

My son just turned 1 and the moment he did it’s like a switch flipped. He had no issues sleeping all night, we went to be as 7-730x woke up each day 630/7am.
Suddenly, abruptly he started resisting sleep, sleeps for an hour then suddenly wakes up and is like hey it’s playtime.
Next came the early mornings. Out of nowhere the energy started waking up at 5am.
I’m not here to complain. I’m here to ask what I need to do to not set him up for failure.
We never had to do the ferb/CIO method before. He went down with no issues prior, always slept so an abrupt transition had us stumped. —
He currently is 1, he sleeps in our room in a crib near us, we want to transition him to his new room. We just moved to a much larger house and had to get some repair work done.
What is the proper way(s) to try and handle the move to the room while also handling him waking up now at 5 wanting to get up.
Do we answer the cry? We’ve been reassuring, goodnight it’s bedtime then placing him down and going back to bed. (What advice we’ve been given). That’s not really working for us. He seems to reset the pissed meter and just gets louder.
So we tried the CIO method today, it took 20 minutes of crying but it resulted in a big sigh eventually then playing in his crib. Was this the proper way? I was told “boredom is not a cause for concern” to help burn through the crying (which was painful). It helped but I just don’t like the CIO unless it’s the way it has to.

It was a beautiful story in which a couple with their cat moves into an old house. The animals in this book are sentient, they talk to each other and are cautious about these new hosts but eventually grow to love them and cooperate with them.
I cannot remember much about this book, but I believe I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, so the book was 1998 or earlier, in Oklahoma. I don't remember if it was a Sequoyah book or not. It was a chapter book i believe, without pictures - but I could be wrong about that!
The scenes I remember are 1) The couple and their cat have recently moved into this old house. They are sitting in the library or some family room and one of the younger mice is snooping around on a bookshelf, trying to learn more about these new hosts. The mouse gets discovered and so finds herself paralyzed with fear. The couple and their cat just go back to sitting down and letting the mouse be. After a long time the mouse, still terrified, moves and to her surprise there is no reaction from the hosts. Eventually the mouse makes it back to her family and tells them about this.
2) There are moles in the yard. A gardener or a neighbor starts talking to the couple about his "pest control" solution to deal with the moles, but the couple politely says they are not interested, that they have found that the moles don't bother them if they don't bother the moles. Hearing this, the moles have a talk and decide they are going to treat their hosts' garden with respect. Then, later in the book, we the audience, get to see the beautiful garden that all of the animals have helped make. The gardeneneighbor is dumbfounded.
I might remember some more snippets that I'll add below. Thinking about this book on a nice night in my backyard. I've been feeling a sense of nostalgia for this story. Please help if you can!

Just wanted to share the wild ride of how we built HyperClapper, our LinkedIn engagement pod that went from zero to $500 in just a week and then we fall again.
BUT WE WON 10000$ from Single client
The Crazy Idea
So, there we were, drowning in LinkedIn posts that no one cared about. Our brilliant content? Totally ignored. It was like shouting into the void. Over a few beers, my buddy and I came up with the idea of HyperClapper. We thought, "What if we had a squad to hype each other up?" And boom, HyperClapper was born.

The Hustle

We started with nothing but a dream and a really buggy platform. Seriously, it crashed more than my old college laptop. We invited everyone we knew—friends, colleagues, that random guy from the coffee shop. The first week was a mess. Late nights, caffeine overload, and more debugging than I care to remember. But hey, we started seeing some results. People’s posts were getting noticed, and that felt awesome.

The Struggles

Man, convincing people to join was like trying to sell ice to Eskimos. We sent out hundreds of messages and got ghosted a lot. And then, there were the tech issues. One night, our server just... died. We lost a bunch of users, and I seriously considered smashing my computer. But we kept going, fixing bugs, and making things better.

Building the Squad

The real magic happened when we focused on building a community. We started hosting virtual hangouts, sharing tips, and celebrating wins. There’s this one user, Sarah, who runs a small business. She told us how HyperClapper helped her posts blow up. Her success became our success, and it felt incredible.

The Breakthrough

And then it happened. In just one week, we made $500. It was insane! People were signing up, engagement was skyrocketing, and our little idea was taking off. We were ecstatic, sleep-deprived, but ecstatic.
We stuck at this MRR for few months but a Single client help us by throwing 10k$ :)

What’s Next?

When I was 18 years old, I met my future wife, Mia. She was the same age as me and we had recently graduated from the same high school.
Before meeting me, Mia had engaged in a lot of reckless sexual behavior. I would later learn that she was having sex when she was 13, had participated in group sex, and was extremely inconsistent about using protection. Mia's recklessness led to me, and our common poor decision making led to an unintended pregnancy. Mia ran to her parents, I ran to my parents, we all got together, and they agreed that we were either going to terminate or get married. We chose the latter.
Eight years later, Mia approached me wanting a divorce. I was honestly not surprised in the slightest. Getting married so early made us miss a lot of our early years, and while were always able to live together peacefully, we realized that we were a poor match in the first place.
It has been seven years since our divorce. Our son, Henry, is 14 years old now. We have an agreed custody agreement, and I think that despite our shortcomings as romantic partners, we have developed into competent and caring parents. One of our rules of shared custody is that when Henry misbehaves (which is very rare) and is being penalized for it, we both honor the agreement of his grounding.
On Wednesday evening, Mia texted me to say that Henry was grounded, but she would be dropping him off on Thursday morning. When I asked for details, she told me that she had caught him watching pornography. I thought that was a bit strict, but "watching pornography" can range from fairly normal teenage boy behavior to complete sexual deviancy. When asked for the details, she elaborated that he was on his computer in his room, and she entered without knocking to catch him.
Well, she dropped Henry off, and I had a talk with him. He was very apologetic. It was awkward, but I taught him two things: (1) sexuality is normal and nothing to be ashamed about. (2) porn is a terrible industry depicting highly non-normal acts, and often involves exploited parties. Henry understood this but told me that he was looking at images of an independent model.
I decided that Henry hadn't really done anything wrong at this point. I told him to be smart about his privacy, always respect boundaries, and never view that sort of material in public places. Then I un-grounded him, gave him access to his PS5, and let him enjoy himself.
Well, his mother logged onto her own PS5 during this time, and she saw Henry online. She called me yelling about the terms of his grounding, and from another room I told her that what he did wasn't really that bad. She then talked about the harmful effects of porn, to which I responded "At his age, you were having unprotected threesomes. Do you really want to shame him?" She got really flustered at that comment and eventually hung up on me. She has texted me intermittently about how wrong I was.
Was I the asshole for this?

I read this at least 12 years ago, I’m sure it is an older book though. The premise is these two brothers who defend the forest from barbarian or marauder hordes, but actually it’s just pretend from their treehouse. Their family owns a house with the land I think in h he English countryside, and the story is set during or around either world war 1 or 2 because I remember their iron fence being taken as scrap for the war effort.
The genre is just slice of life following the (I think) younger brother as he grows up. They go from boys to teens to men, other people come and stay with them on the property, at one point they hold a maypole festival in the woods and the main character embarrasses himself to the girl he likes. Later he finds that girl engaged in lovemaking with another teen staying with them, inside a hidden bunks in the forest, and he shuts the door somehow locking them in to die.
The story I think is somehow told by the main character who is now an old man, maybe telling it to a reporter or relative at some shop he goes to. The main character was given the family home to live in by his older brother, and I think is mentally unwell, his brother basically would make sure he had groceries and enough to live on. Even as an old man he thinks he has some duty to protect the forest that his brother has forgotten. The story ends with his brother’s son (his nephew) coming to tell him the brother has passed away, and the nephew now has ownership of the property, won’t be providing groceries for him anymore and wants him to clear out.
I read it when I was around 12-14 and the only reason my Mum picked it out was because the blurb sounds like a typical fantasy novel, barbarians and brothers defending a magic forest, but it turned out to be this really bleak and interesting slice of life non-fantasy. I have been trying to find this book for at least 10 years with 0 success, if anyone here knows I will lose my absolute mind.
I also think the title may have had the word Hollow in it, but I’m no longer sure because no book I’ve looked for with that matches

I like to learn while I read. Sometimes I’ll read a fic and had no idea that Things Could Be Like That, and I’m just floored, thinking about it for days, googling and crying. As I haven’t the best memory, I might have forgotten some, and I might add more later. Everything is rated E or M because I only read the slick and sloppy.

THE LIST

1: For Loving One (AU) - World War II has never really interested me, and I didn’t know much about what it was like to be queer back then. I just assumed almost everyone was out to get you (and I wasn’t wrong), but I just didn’t have any reference material. Now I do, as it’s clear the author knows a lot about this topic. This is a beautiful story, well researched, with just enough happy and just enough angst. I’ve learned a lot, entirely without meaning to.
2: Epistolary - one of my favorite tropes, which is Crowley finding and reading Aziraphale’s diary and stumbling upon very private thoughts and YearningTM throughout history. There are plagues, there are Aztec ritual sacrifices, there’s a long-haired, sleeping Crowley in a cave and Aziraphale losing his mind yearning over (literally over) said sleeping Crowley.
3: exodus2 (AU) - Ezra (ambitious and lonely) and Crowley (very eager), programming students in their early 20s, meet at university in a totalitarian European state, and both have an interest in banned media and causing some trouble. You’ll learn some Hebrew, some Yiddish and Scandinavian - and how to start an insurrection against the State. And, there are (banned) book recommendations!
4: A Godawful Small Affair - What if Vince Taylor wasn’t Bowie’s inspiration for Ziggy Stardust? A fic that placed me firmly in a music scene I’ve never immersed myself in, in a decade I somehow skipped over. Yes, I know, I’m weird - but I’ve learned a lot! It’s sweet and it really feels probable.
5: Rough Enough for Love (AU) - As an AFAB person, I’ve learned so much about… uh, the subjective intricacies of AMAB anatomy. Also, it’s nice to skip the yearning sometimes and just read them having their cake and eating it too.
6: The False and the Fair (AU) - I knew nothing about West Virginia, nor about coal mining. It has all the feels and if this was about anyone other than the ineffables I wouldn’t have read it and I would have missed out. I’ve learned so much about a society and a setting so far from everything I thought I was interested in. Don’t miss out!
7: A Gift of Words - Okay, it’s not slick and sloppy - but VERY sweet, and I learned a lot about Gutenberg and the printing press. Crowley changes the world for his angel, by giving him (arguably) his most favorite thing.
8: Old Vines (AU) - Aziraphale is a wine&food blogger and Crowley produces extraordinary wine in his viny vineyard/heart that he doesn’t let anyone into. People go crazy over this one. I’m sure I will, too (on the plane, later). I will learn a LOT about wine, I’m told.
9: I Believe I am Owed a Toss - if you’re looking to learn how to properly entice a member of the members only-club, then read this.
10: Coming into Focus (AU) - “It is the summer of 1864, and Aziraphale is an itinerant photographer set up behind Union lines outside Petersburg, Virginia. He’s no stranger to pleasure, but he has always protected his heart. But when the redheaded colonel of the 5th New Jersey walks into his tent, he begins to wonder whether it’s time to rethink his stance on love.” Haven’t read it yet, but I’m gonna!
4: What Hath God Wrought (AU) - “Do you remember, my darling, the early days when there were just fingers and air and sounds – a rhythmic beeping in the day, a frantic answer in the night? The orange glow of lamps. Coding and decoding. Choosing the words carefully, never too many, but always enough.” Yearning over telegraphs! Can’t wait to read this one. Artwork HERE.

Just got back from Vietnam - North to South tour over a couple of weeks around my partner's birthday. Absolutely loved the experience and would love to visit again and slow down the travel to take things in a bit more.
I have some tips for folk from my own experience. I'm from the UK - and specifically Cornwall where tourism is a mainstay of our local economy and I know what it's like to have your land flooded with tourists.
1: the pound is roughly 30000 Vietnamese dong, so divide by 3 and knock off some noughts. It's easier to knock off the last three 0s from the dong price first. Very important for weighing up the personal value of something you might buy/are being hassled to buy.
2: Security at airports is not like our biometric passport scanners in the UK - it's guys in very officious looking uniforms taking their sweet time to weigh up whether you should be let in (or out) of the country. Bear this in mind for planning follow up transport or arriving for a flight. Huge queues. It took about an hour after arriving to get through security, and an hour and a half when departing for our UK flight (important as they were shutting the doors by the time we got through security).
3 phone data - while queuing to get into the country in Ho Chi Minh, we opted to buy some local SIM cards from a stall next to the queues. They were £8 each and gave us unlimited data for our 2 weeks. Ideal. Might be able to get it cheaper but convenience after 20 hours of travelling was worth it.
4 airport transfers - take advantage of these where offered. Again, just takes the stress out of things as we found the country quite overwhelming, especially HCMC and Hanoi (overwhelming in a good way though).
5 city markets - we went to Hanoi, Cat Ba, Hoi An, Phú Quoc and Saigon and in each place there was a sizeable (Cat Ba was smaller) market advertised as a "must see" experience but in truth is the same place selling knock off clothes, luggage, souvenirs, food ingredients, etc. Every fourth or fifth stall is EXACTLY the same stuff. It gets boring after 10 minutes. Would advise visiting this wherever you are on your last day to buy some stuff to take home rather than lugging it around.
6 scooters - I wouldn't consider this unless you know how to ride a scooter, especially in the cities. Vietnamese traffic is an organic wonder to beyond from the safety of a taxi.
7 crossing the road - for UK folk, they drive on the other side in Vietnam. Very important to look both ways but believe the hype, pick your moment and go confidently - Vietnamese also have incredible spacial awareness to avoid you.
8 GRAB - download the app, add your card and Grab away. Again, speaking of convenience and least stress, you will quickly appreciate not walking for 20 minutes in +30° city heat and choosing to take an air conditioned taxi. For comparison, a trip that would cost about a tenner in UK costs a £1. Incredible value for your wallet, comfort and time.
9 food - try everything. OK, maybe Thit Cho on Hanoi is a stretch too far for the average Brit but everything else should be experienced. Personal favourites were Hotpot (so wish we had similar in UK) and BBQ where it's in the middle of the table and you do all the grilling. You can find Pho for equivalent of about £1 if you need shoestring food.
10 wine - some places sell local Dalat wine which is OK but wine is not a big deal in Vietnam and is usually at least UK price if not more. My partner found this hard as she doesn't like beer and didn't want to drink cocktails all holiday. Dalat is perfectly good plonk though - white and red.
11 Hoi An - don't believe the hype. We spent too long here (so sorry Saigon, you weren't as loved as you should have been). It can be done in a day and you've experienced it all. Reviews were lead to believe there was more to it. Nightlife was a laugh in a trashy way though if you want to do the whole Brits abroad thing.
12 Be respectful - my experience was that Vietnamese are a country of grinders who work all hours of the day. So speaking of Brits (or anyone else) abroad be respectful that not everyone you see is there for your photo opp or to help you and those in markets and hospitality are making a living, so don't waste their time. British especially are a nation of window shoppers and I'm not sure that came across too well on our travels. Try to be low key while you weave around the lives of Viet folk.
13 Learn to confidently say "no thanks" - politely saying "no thanks, just looking" and moving on is a valuable tool for getting through certain touristy areas. Engaging with folk will both give that person the wrong expectations and exhaust you in the process.
14 Google Translate - download this and use for basic enquiries. I don't think I was saying Xin Chao, Cam On or Tam Biet properly, so for anything beyond that, I have no clue. Don't assume people speak English - some are good enough to say Hello first to get past that.
15 Find a spot and just watch - find a coffee shop, relax and watch a very different people go about their lives. Things I enjoyed: how cool all the young people are; how obsessed the young folk are about selfies; care of children; karaoke round the dinner table (understand not to everyone's taste); friends enjoying a hotpot; lads fighting a crab into said hotpot; groups of friends having animated toasts after work; care of old folk; many and varied ways to use a scooter to carry people, goods, materials, flat screen TVs, dogs.

17 Beer St in Saigon - go walk through it. I have never seen anything like it. Don't necessarily stop there but go observe it's wild, perverse nature.
18 If staying in a hotel, before you head out for the day, soak a flannel in water, put it in a glass, put the glass in the fridge. You will appreciate it when you get back from your enevitablely roasting walk around town (mad dogs and Englishman..).
19 pack for very hot weather (in May at least). I took a set of clothes for UK - these were worn to and from the airport and otherwise lived at the bottom on my bag. Otherwise, shorts, t-shirts and light shirts to keep the sun off. Even cotton t-shirts felt too much at times. My favourite items were a matched black linen shirt and shorts I bought out there. Pretty much lived out of them exclusively towards the end of the trip. Must have announced my musky presence from a great distance. Utilise the laundry services for sure.
20 ignore the rubbish - try to tune it out and adjust your hygiene expectations. This is important as in two weeks, I got blisters, bites, at anything and yet came away without food poisoning, infection or anything else. It's an eyesore at times to these soft UK eyes but don't let it ruin the trip. Hope Vietnam authorities can do more to handle that as it'll mount up the more the country is discovered.

Hi, I'm planning on applying to PhD program's in the US for fall 2025 intake. I know that in USA, the first couple of years is coursework based, only after that do you do your research component, right? But what I'm confused about is that, do I need to reach out to potential supervisors to accept me even though I won't be working on their projects for a few years? The uni's I've been checking don't explicitly syate whether finding a supervisor before applying is recommended or not, could someone provide some input, thanks.
Also, the masters of science I'm doing right now is fully reaearch, that's how it is in south east asia, so there's no CGPA, therefore; would I still be considered eligible for admission into PhD as some uni's, like NYU, require a 3.5 cgpa for master's.
Lastly, I know I should apply to a mix of schools... but there are so many to choose from, the top ones are easy because well they're the top of the list (i.e. UCLA, Cal tech, berkely, MIT, etc.) but how do I determine the lower tier institutions to apply to, do I look for those ranked around 300-500or is it 1000, I know it's arbitrary, but any tips would be helpful. Also, isn't it going to be wildly expensive to apply to so many, how many do people usually apply to. I really really need to get accepted to at least 1.
Also 1 more thing, sorry for the absurdly long query, but is it worth it for me to even apply to those top institutions if I come from a not so well known unicersity (QS ranking around 300-350), my undergrad cgpa was 3.74/4.00 and I'm planning on having 2 first author publications by the time I apply. So I don't know if it's still worth giving it a shot or not since the application fees are so much.

As I was studying for the SHRM-CP exam, I came across several posts on here that were useful in helping me along the process, so I thought I would share some information on how I passed for future test takers. Please note that I did NOT purchase the SHRM Learning System. I studied by myself using free online resources and a few books I bought off Amazon. Prep/Study Time
I studied for about 4–5 weeks. On weekdays I studied between 1–3 hours per day, on the weekends I would do 4–6 hours per day, and during the last 7–10 days, I studied about 4–6 hours per day. Of course, I took a few nights off here and there as well. Keep in mind that you may need to study more or less given your work experience (I have a Master’s in I/O Psych and about 2 years of relevant work experience). To be honest, I wish I had started studying 2–3 weeks earlier. I would recommend giving yourself at least 1.5–2 months to prepare for this exam.
Resources:

1. SHRM BoCK — This is a free PDF that you can download off the SHRM website. I used this resource to guide my overall learning. I dissected the entire document and made flashcards on Quizlet for everything I did not know. In particular, I focused on the “key concepts” for each section and made sure I knew the definition of each term. There is also a glossary of terms and definitions at the end of the document, so I added all those terms into Quizlet as well. The glossary does not have every definition you will need to know, but it’s a good start. For the terms I could not find a definition for, I would either

A) Google it
B) see how the SHRM website defines it,
C) use one of my other resources to find a definition
D) go to Youtube to learn more.
2) SHRM-CP Exam by certexamdb Test Prep: You can find in here
I explored a few different practice exams, but this was by far the most useful. You cannot use this as your only resource, but it is a great start.
3) PHSPHR Professional in Human Resources Certification Study Guide by Anne Bogardus: You can actually find a PDF of this online for free. At some point throughout the study process (usually after a practice exam), you will likely realize that you need to go into more depth with certain concepts. This is where this study guide comes in. I didn’t read it word for word, but I spent a few hours skimming through it, went through some of the practice questions at the end of each chapter, and read in detail certain sections that I was weak on. This resource is very detailed but not too complicated which is great. I would highly recommend allocating 1–2 study days just for going through this resource. Keep in mind that it will provide you with more detail than you need, but you can just focus on the concepts that are relevant to the SHRM-CP.
4) SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Practice Exams (All in One) by Kelly and Simon-Walters. About 10 days before my exam, I came across this resource which consisted of 500 questions that were broken down into each of the sections outlined in the SHRM BoCK. When I took the practice exam in the certexamdb Test Prep I scored terribly on the situational judgment questions. This book is GREAT for preparing you for those questions. Just keep in mind two things when using this resource:
It will consist of some questions with terms or concepts that you did not come across in any of the other resources — you can just ignore those (it’s extra information that you do not necessarily need), (2) the quick answer key has some inaccuracies (ignore it) but the answer key with detailed explanations is correct so make sure you use that when scoring yourself. Make sure you answer both the SHRM-CP and the SHRM-SCP questions (they are both relevant). This really helps with the situational judgment questions, but also with knowing how some of the terms and definitions apply in a real setting. When focusing on these questions, I realized that I had memorized some definitions, but I still didn’t know how to apply those concepts. This book helps with that.
5) Quizlet Flashcards created by other people — A lot of people have created quizlet sets (even from the Learning System) that they have uploaded. Those are free, so make sure you use them! Also, some people have even created practice sets for exam questions (which I think are from the learning system as well), so make sure you review those as well! Basic Study Tips: Unfortunately, without the Learning System, there is no single resource that you can use to prepare for this exam. Therefore, make sure you use a few resources just to make sure you get exposed to most of the material that will be on the exam. As you go through each resource, keep revising your flashcards and adding new ones. Make sure you periodically review flashcards as you go rather than waiting to cram everything in a week before the exam. When you go through practice questions, you will soon realize that you often need to know more than just the definition… you need to know when and how something applies as well. For example, you need to know what FMLA is, but you also need to know what the eligibility criteria is, when it is applicable, etc… I had one massive set of flashcards (about 500), and then I also had smaller sets of flashcards for some sections (e.g., a set for HR Laws, another set for Finance/Accounting terms). I would memorize using the smaller sets, but then I went through the giant set I had created a few days before my exam to make sure I knew everything. Do a ton of practice questions and understand why you got certain questions wrong.
6) SHRM LMS Books
Here’s a quick overview of the step-by-step process I took to study and prepare:

1. Go through SHRM-BoCK and create flashcards
2. Go through and memorize SHRM Learning System Flashcards (You can find these on Quizlet and search “SHRM Learning System”)
3. Take certexamdb Test Prep Practice Exam, review, and identify weak areas.
4. Go through the Bogardus PHSPHR book and focus on weak areas (fill in flashcards)
5. Memorize the newly created flashcards for weak areas, flag ones that you continually get wrong or confused with.
6. YouTube hazy concepts and terms to gain a richer understanding, use Khan Academy when applicable.
7. Retake certexamdb Practice Exam
8. Go through questions in the book by Kelly and Simon-Walters
9. Identify weak areas, read through explanations, create and memorize flash cards as needed
10. A few days before my exam, focus on my large stack of flashcards, go through other people’s flashcard sets, and go through practice exams on Quizlet.

Exam Experience and Takeaways
I finished the exam in a little over three hours. You get no breaks, but you can always take them as needed. Time is likely not going to be an issue. Here are some takeaways that I had about the exam: — There were surprisingly few questions on US Employment Laws & Regulations and Labor Unions. I spent a lot on these sections when studying, but there were not many questions at all on these topics. — The test questions were different than any of the practice exams I had taken (however you should be fine as long as you know the material) — The situational judgment questions can be exhausting with having to read 2–3 paragraphs for each 2–3 questions. — Make sure you carefully read the question. For example, you are often asked “what is the first step you would take” or “what strategy would you use.” These can be tricky, but they can also easily reveal the right answer. — No matter how hard you study, you will encounter a few questions where you come across terms that you’re unfamiliar with and you will have to guess blindly. Just try to eliminate what you do know is wrong and take your best guess. Don’t stress too much about it. — Use the highlight, strike through, and flagging options during the exam. It helps a lot. — Often, the correct answers for the situational judgment questions have something to do with (1) getting leadership buy-in, (2) having HR be a strategic partner, (3) making sure the action is aligned with the org’s mission and vision (4) HR being proactive, (5) doing a needs assessment of some sort, (6) having HR be some sort of facilitator.

Hi! I am currently in a LDR relationship. We are 1 year and 6 months but we have been thru a lot already. We started LDR just 6 months ago. He went away abroad for work and I was left here in our apartment (we are living in). I trust him fully as I already saw what kind of person he was during our time together. He really is a great guy who I am confident that will never hurt me. I gave him my full trust. He was a good person, a good son to his parents. Things are really well when we were together, we don't fight a lot. However, when we start our long distance relationship, we often argue and fight. But we never hurt each others feeling, our fights are mostly me being needy coz i want him to spend more time with me. We never fought about a girl or jealousy to other girls. But lately our fights became really intense wherein a lot of times i dont want to talk to him, i want him to feel that im mad. Very mad, that why a lot of time I dont answer his calls. I think thats what drives him to do what he did. Just a few nights, I decided to install bumble and subscribe to premium so I can check if he is on the app. I turned on the travel mode, and viola just a few swipes on his area i saw his profile. I don't know what to do. It is something I never knew he would do. I instantly screenshot it send it to him. To which he never denied and he was really sorry. He said that he already deleted the app but never got to delete his profile and he never continued chatting to others. Saying he created it the when he was angry. I asked him to screenshare his phone and yes the bumble on his phone was gone. I told him to install and log it in (while we are screensharing). I threatened him that we arw through if he didnt let me see his bumble. And thats what he djd, he showed me his bumble and there were 4 matches to girls, 3 with chat history. All were chill chats like how are you and stuff. And all 3 chats have your move icon meaning he stopped responding. All chats didnt last long. More like a day. He admitted what he did, and he said he only did it when we were in a fight. But he didn't continued it. His words matched to what I saw in bumble.
And I know this man, i know how much he loves me. But i think that what hurts me more. How can he even think of doing this if he really loves me?
TL;DR! I forgive him, but this is by far the most painful thing I have ever experienced, I love him so much, and I know how much he loves me too. BUT WHY? :(
Please help me get through this pain, I want to save our relationship. I want this pain out of our relationship.
