Please note if my following questions are too loaded or too technical.
Some context: I've taken a recent interest in photogrammetry and would like to scan some Lego bricks I've bought. Since Lego bricks' natural gloss interfere with 3D scanning, I've done research online on materials and where to buy them. However, it seems like most vendors these materials, such as spray-on-mask, are selling to established businesses and companies instead of hobbyists like me. Besides that, there doesn't seem to be an active 3D scanning hobbyist scene from my research.

- If there aren't, then where can I buy washable masking sprays or at least find a substitute material? It must be a material that I could apply and wash off without damage to the scanning subject.
- Are there any forums or groups of Vietnamese 3D scanning/photogrammetry hobbyists?

Hi everyone
Just looking for some guidance as when looking online I'm not quite able to fully grasp how this works. I will be using card transactions from my metal card as much as possible and using cash in the respective currency where card isn't available.
I have a couple of questions;
I'm a United Kingdom Revolut Metal owner and I will be travelling internationally for 9 months to the below locations - I can't seem to see online which countries are available in the Metal plan;

- Do I need to transfer my GBP into an account on the app for the required currency?
- Is it cheaper to leave my currency in GBP and allow Revolut to convert to the currency?
- If I have 2 different currency accounts e.g. GBP and JPY and I use my card to pay for a charge in JPY, will it automatically take the money from the JYN account, even if my GBP is my primary account?
- I have read that there are no international transfer fees from Mon - Fri. Would it be better to add some of the local currency each Monday (as an example) rather than paying as I go and allowing Revolut to convert?
- ATM fees - should I only withdraw on weekdays?

WARNING: Long post. This is my first ever rant in this sub, and I barely have any experience on making posts on Reddit. Not to mention I am still struggling with English essays. So, I apologize before hand for any confusion and errors I made. 🙇
Context: I am a female native Vietnamese, living in a family of four in the North of the country. I just became an official adult few months ago, and is training for college entrance exam.
Ever since I attended 10th grade, my relationship with family has shifted drastically, my bond with my AM is stronger than it used to while in contrast, I have become more resentful to AP. And my resentment is more relevant as I turned 18.
Before talking about our current situation, I want to tell you about my life.
When talking about who I prefer, it is always be AM. Not until now was she emotionally intelligent, well, a bit better than she used to. She tended to forbidding me doing lots of things because of overprotection. Maybe that is why I am often hesitant to try something new. I remember our past fights when she only knew about screaming, threatening, throwing and breaking my stuff like a toddler and I had to bare with it because you know, I was 10-13 in a fucking Asian society. After she quit her dead-end job, she opened her own business, goes outside and studies more, she becomes more enjoyable to be around with. But after all the bs, I have always have choosen her for love and security. And this is the first time I realized that.
Moving on to AD. Between kindergarten to 5th grade, AD and I were quite close. At least, that what I thought because I was slow and naive, really naive. Despite being "quite close", I still remember the times he yelled and hit me for slight inconvenience. I still have the memory of the scar left by his belt for not doing what he wants. Also, in 10th grade, during COVID, children had to study online. I was the only one who knew how to and had to open the Zoom for my sister. One time, our classes started at the same time, I was on the rush and forgot about the Zoom of my sister. AD did not know how to open Zoom, he was pissed. As a result, he threw my stuff at the wall and forced me to clean up his mess.
Growing up in this household, I just recently notices how much of a kid he is. He is stubborn, conservative and always full of himself. AD is not the type who listens to others but loves everyone following him, always claiming he is right no matter what. He has no dream, no desire to be better. His pride is higher than his care for the kids. And like many deadbeat father and husband out there, he is a good for nothing. AD will be a grumpy and sour when anything slightly inconvenients him. Even when that "anything" is extremely vital for the well-being of his daughters. AD does not contribute anything in the house, not even his marriage nor the kids' education, only bosses around and sees red when one thing doesn't go out his way. Not to mention, he demands respect and worship for having a job offered by his rich brother and feeding the family aka doing the bare minimum.
Back to the present, after my 17th birthday, AD becomes dismissive and degrading than before. Everytime I talk about my issues WITH MY MOM, he will interrupt and dismiss them. Moreover, he starts to talk more about how hard his past is. Nothing much, just the typical "back in my days..." of immature oldies. AD is a gen X born two years after the end of Vietnam War, I totally get that he had been through shit. But the way he talks, he sounds like he takes pride from it, glorifies his struggles with a smug attitude. AD does not say it directly how proud he is about it, but by listening the way he scoffs at young city dwellers' issues, I sense not only arrogance but also bitterness.
Now, seeing his face is enough to drain my energy, let alone hearing his bs. I am surprised, everyone else is surprised that AM has not divorced him, especially after being as equally educated as lots of divorced women out there.

To start, I'm Engr Nelle, a 29 yo civil engineer from the Philippines.
I work as a Project engineer for seven years, supervising construction workers specializing in steel frames and precast concrete.
I live alone and visits the family house every weekend to spend time with my supportive parents, funny siblings and our 5 year old cat who we adopted after our caretaker saw him in a trash can, as a days old kitten.
I consider myself blessed. I was raised in a loving home and I experienced an enjoyable childhood running around with the neighborhood kids, chasing piglets when I got curious and being scolded by my mama for running from a mountain top and crashing on big rocks during vacation. I survived with only a knee scar haha
I am educated having graduated with honors from high school until college. Single and do not have kids.
Despite my busy time, I do lots of nerdy stuffs such as reading books, mostly on Dystopian books or light Xianxia and Wuxianovels such as Against the Gods. I looooove animes and cosplayed twice last year. I play online chess and been learning German (hopefully my 4th language) for eight months now. Lately, I've been trying my hands on embroidery on my free time.
I travelled twice internationally last year, Thailand and Indonesia. I enjoyed visiting their temples, museums, eating lots of their foods and delicacies.I hope to travel to Vietnam next.
I do not smoke, do not drink and do not go to clubs. I consider myself an ambivert that enjoys being adventurous, yet enjoys my alone time also.
I try to do everything at least once from horseback riding, kayaking, ATV driving, wakeboarding and archery. I also love taking pics of food, places, family and friends, myself as the muse haha. I compile them and have a shop printed them using special papers and hard bound. Been doing this for 2 years now and I have 5 albums already.
I consider myself a happy girl that has lots to learn and craving for affection from a loving lifetime partner. I also have flaws. I have acne scars and milia around my eyes yet I consider myself beautiful haha.
I decided to post here as I'm very attracted to Caucasian/white men, especially the ambitious ones who are trustworthy, humble, generous, smart and takes care of their body. Hopefully, 28-34 , with a stable job, not a smoker nor a drinker and deeply monogamous. Never ma*ried and do not have kids. 2024.05.18 13:45 Brilliant-Student-97 Restoring WW2 M1 helmet.
 | I found this US M1 Steel helmet and would like to restore it. I did some research and the helmet seems to be a genuine WW2 issue. The seam ring is stainless steel and it closes at the front, the strap links are fixed to the helmet and there is one surviving strap which is sewn to the link. I cannot see any stamp. The paint is definitely not original.the rust is only superficial so in all the shell is in good condition . I would like to restore this helmet. Not to a collector piece but to use in Air-soft . I understand that the same helmets were used in Vietnam and I would like to make it look of that era. Definitely I need the internal liner and suspension system and chin straps . I found helmet covers and nets for M1 helmet from different eras including Vietnam but I cannot find the liners and suspension system and chin straps. I will remove all the paint first and clean the metal , prime and finish it with OD spray pain and a final layer of Matt clear coat. I might use the sand or cork texture too. I recently saw this tweet about two Vietnamese dressed in Vietnam War era attire posing with an Australian during a parade commemorating the battle of Dien Bien Phu (First Indochina War). They mention the "New Vietnamese", non-Vietnamese fighting for the Viet Minh/North Vietnam either during the First Indochina War against France or the Vietnam War on the pro-independence/communist side (I am assuming this in context to the First Indochina War, but I am unsure if this also doesn't include the later NVA/Vietcong-conflict). The context makes it seem like that even Westerners aided the Viet Minh or the NVA/Vietcong.
I could not really find information about the "New Vietnamese" online, that's why I am asking: Did foreigners fight as volunteers for the Viet Minh (or NVA)? Who were those people and from which country did they join the fight?

Hi I'm 18 (M), I was born and raised in a extreme religous community Didn't have access to any Media, information or internet besides the religious books. I almost never talked to woman besides family. TBH almost didnt even talk to people outside of the religion.
Ive decided a couple months ago of leaving and started to plan. Saved Money (8k $) and researched. Im 18 and i feel really stuck, while im here i have family and community pressure but leaving seems unbelievable hard. If i leave and try to live find work eduaction in USA i feel like its really tough. I dont know who i am, i dont have the proper understanding to manage. For the last couple of weeks the thought kept up to me that i should just leave and travel a bit in a more advertunes/ cheaper country like Vietnam. Maybe i will be able to work on my social skills, gain prespective, understand what i want to do with myself, study the basic hs eduction that i never got do the GED online and enjoy a bit the freedom and unstress of the community. Point is its escaping ! Is there anyone who went traveling at 18? anybody as an escape ? just advice ? (I have worked in a business and i can continue working also remotly with them side job which will probaly cover expenses in a cheap country.)

Hi needing to cancel our Vietnam airlines flight (Australia to Vietnam) this evening due to illness. I have been unable to log a cancellation through their app/website due to a website error. We were on hold with their international support line for 60 mins, before it hung up. Their online chat is just a bot/AI and I haven’t got anywhere with it. We have found their website during the booking process and managing bookings insufferable. I have reached out to their social media to so far no avail.
We need proof of cancellation in order to claim on travel insurance and additionally I do not want to pay a no show airport fee.
Has anyone had any last minute success? Any suggestions?

FYI, I'm (F25) a Vietnamese Buddhist, my ex (M27) is a Muslim from a very religious area of Malaysia. We met through an online friend of mine over a year ago, dated for a year (he is my first bf), was in LDR the whole time, and didn't know the first time we met irl was the last time. Was trying to work hard to get a chance to visit him too, because I only got a job a few months ago after I graduate.
We just broke up 2 weeks ago, the reason was because his family has been pressuring him nonstop for months about the state of our relationship. They gave us one year to figure it out, their condition being me moving to Malaysia, converting to Islam, in order for them to accept our marriage. They went to the extreme of threatening to disown, guilt tripping, even trying to arrange a marriage behind his back and use that as a condition for him to either get married now, or breakup with me and keep his freedom.
Me and my bf had some conversations about this topic back then earlier in our relationship, and for me the compromise that I'm comfortable with is him moving to Vietnam with me, and I'll do the convert, because I believe that if he can make such a big sacrifice then I could too, for the sake of our relationship. I was thinking if the religion is so great that built a good man who is willing to go miles for me, then I don't mind converting. Will my parents like that decision of mine? I hardly doubt so, but I know that all they want is for me to be happy and even if they don't like it, I'll prove to them that this person is the right one I chose, and I'm the one to decide my happiness. If they want me out of their house? It's okay, for me parents will always be with you if they're angry, because afterall I'm always their daughter.
Sadly, that wasn't the case for him. Although he is a very good guy, he has been content and consistent throughout our relationship, make effort to come and meet me, he's a sweetheart and will always be special to me. On the night that we broke up, he told me "I love you but I love my parents more, and I will always obey them even if they decide to take my life.", and that to me was over. I appreciated the fact that he had been convincing them for months, fought with his family for 2 days (which he has never done in his life, and he has anxiety problems on top of that) for our relationship, but afterall he still couldn't stand his ground and gave up, ending the relationship with me to fulfill his parents' wishes. He couldn't even get the last chance to meet me, although he promised.
I think the thing that broke me the most was the amount of promises the he wasn't able to deliver, he used to promise me the world, "I'd do anything to be with you", "I'd give you my life", but then afterall none of those was true. Did he mean it? Probably at one point, but 'til this day I think his love is conditional. He wants me to convert and actually practice, which I was skeptical at first, because I live in a liberal environment and my religion also doesn't force me to do anything. But then again as I said, I'm not saying never.
It's been 2 weeks since the broke up but it still hurts for me to accept that the man who once called me "the love of his life" will give everything up to obey his parents . He preaches "paradies is under your mother's feet", the son can't go against your parents' wishes, if not he'd be damned in hell.
And to think that my son, will believe that heaven is under my feet and owes me his life, I feel sick, I'm flawed af, I'm a human afterall, and in no mean he owes me anything, he doesn't ask to be born. My son should be a man with his own opinion, get the person who he loves, and respect me because I'm a good mom, not because a book told him if he makes me cry he would rot in hell. Don't get me wrong, Vietnamese culture and Buddhism also teach kids to respect your parents too, but they saying goes something like "Father's love is like a big mountain, mother's love is like the water from upstream", so yes, we are also big on respect and take care of our parents, but never to the point of if they take your life you should be okay with it.
If I do give in, leave everything behind, convert, move to MY, then will he ever be able to defend our relationship when there is issues, when he can't even defend it now? Does that mean I have to live my life in his parents' control, where they have every say about our marriage, and he is fine with that? He is not financially independent right now, and me leaving VN means leaving behind my career and start all over again (which can take years because I study urban planning and I don't think I can do that in MY), leave my beliefs, my family and everything, just to be sheltered under his parents' commands.
I just need some encouragement that leaving this relationship behind is the right thing, because even though I'm able to come to my sense and thinking rationally, it still hurts like hell and I miss him so much. I know it's best to let go, that he isn't the right man for me if he doesn't choose to stay with me, but somewhere deep down I still hope that he's around.
Crazy how some family cares about their pride more than their son's happiness.

So I'm being called a word and a name that I don't consider myself to be. I'm being called an incel by almost everyone on this planet including my friends. I used to talk trash about my friend's girlfriends and wives. I often talk trash about their girlfriends and them cause I found it unfair that they have so much luck with women while I get nothing. I have been trying to for years to find someone to settle down with and have a family and I can't find anybody who is willing to settle down with me. Its gotten to the point where I am so tired of it that I am considering flying over to vietnam in 2026 to go meet some women over there. My friends in the mean time are mad at me because of what I've been saying about them and they have turned into antagonists in my life. My friends have publicly published my personal info online and they have been basically trolling me at this point and got other internet trolls to do the same. Their reasoning for trolling me and trying to ruin my life is cause of me "stalking" women which isn't true and cause of me talking trash about their ladies. I never stalked anyone and this is all stemming from people misreading one of my short films that I made and think it is stalker-ish when it isn't. I've also been accused of plagerism when what I'm doing is considered fair use. My friends and these internet trolls have been harassing me by sending grindr dates to my house, got people to egg my house, spray paint my garage door, threw a brick into my window and prank called my parents over 100 times a day. Somehow some people got a hold of my parent's cell numbers and my house phone and started prank calling us multiple times a day. My friends blatantly confessed that it was them when I confronted them saying that I suspected that it is them. They said that their reasoning for it is because they think that I'm an incel, p3do and a stalker who needs to be punished. What they are doing isn't funny as it is affecting my life and not to mention could have seriously gotten me hurt. One of the grindr dates that they sent to my house tried to push in my front door after I tried shutting it after I denied that I called him. The grindr date apparently had the hots and wanted to get with me and got upset after I denied him. I find this stuff that they are doing is not funny at all. I don't get why think that I'm an incel cause I am not one. All I did is said some stuff that I didn't meant. It doesn't give them the warrant and the right to ruin my life like this. My friends claimed that I'm an asshole cause I try to defend myself and deny being an incel. They said "You rather be an incel and continue to spew hate rather than do something to make a better version of yourself, a version that will attract women.". There's nothing wrong with me. Am I really an jerk for defending myself and my reputation ??

After a breakup during my sophomore year, I channeled my energy into learning new skills, losing weight, and starting my first company—a social network for goal sharing. Now, I'm developing an app to connect early-stage entrepreneurs and am determined to succeed, even after recent setbacks with a cofounder leaving and an accelerator rejection. - ChatGPTI'm 21 years old, and I'm turning 22 in a few months.
I decided less than two years ago to pursue entrepreneurship to build products that would make people so happy to use, so that I'll have made a genuinely valuable contribution to the growing world and flip my old hedonistic ways.

Family Background
I come from a middle class family of immigrants who escaped their dictator-run country when they were in their 20's in hopes to put their child through college. They worked for over 25 years to scrimp and save the money for all four years of classes. My father started a wholesale furniture business with some brothers and $0 to their name in the deep countryside of Vietnam; 20 years later they're making three million in ARR and I'm proud of him. My mother is a senior accountant at a big firm, and was moved from foster family to foster family as a young teen to complete her associates degree at UMass Amherst.I don't have that kind of a story, but I want it. I come from a more privileged place because of them, but I still yearn for my own success story that carries the same weight.
My Background
I was obsessed with playing video games. I was on the computer by 5am before the bus arrived at 7 to pick me up, and I was back on it for another few hours after school. During winter and summer breaks I would play all day every day. I was a fat, lazy, computer-addicted 200lb 5'7", chips-gulping kid, and I somehow was still able to get a girlfriend, haha.It was 2020 in March when quarantine periods were announced. I had the idea to build an MMORPG Minecraft server (called SiegeRPG), and I learned a lot of skills in just one year: design, leadership, people management, java/kotlin programming, blender modeling, many more. By 2021 I lead a team of 60 volunteers, with 100k unique players and a few thousand in profits. I started my University's Minecraft club in my 2nd semester of college and quickly brought it up to 300 members.
My life-changing Event
That girlfriend I had in highschool found a guy friend she got close with --too close, and subsequently broke up with me in my 2nd semester of sophomore year; she said we were incompatible. It makes me chuckle looking back on it now, but I know at that time that was the most hurt I'd ever experienced. I cried in bed for weeks and didn't go out for days. I was a mess, and I learned the guitar to hopefully get her back. I was REALLY down bad.I'm glad I decided to be proactive... I don't think I would have picked up the guitar if I hadn't made my Minecraft server or club, and missed out on the thrill of building something from nothing. I probably would have continued to be someone to pity like I had been in the many years prior. My small decision to learn the guitar at that point in time struck a chord in my brain and I kept wanting to play.
My wins
Over the next year I dropped 40 lbs -my abs were showing for the first time! I got my first job, my first car, dressed nicely, took up boxing, and learned dozens of skills and earned certificates that would help me develop a business one day. By my junior year I left gaming behind me and I haven't touched it since. The Minecraft server was discontinued, and the club was handed to a new president, who has since raised it to 600 members :)Why entrepreneurship?
I naturally leaned into entrepreneurship for the allure of it's erratic lifestyle. I saw the discomfort, fears of instability, bankruptcy, and depressions, and I said I want that. My father's story of building his business from 0 to 1 with two children and two full time jobs was filled with these moments. I was witness to them all. I wanted to pursue this lifestyle of scary growth and failures, akin to my sudden break up and "glow up" period. I wasn't naive to the struggles of building a startup, oh, but I was.My first startup
In my junior year of college I started my first company, a social network to share life goals and hold your peers accountable. I made EVERY single mistake that first-time founders could possibly make. Here's 10 pieces of advice for young founders:- Researching articles online isn't enough to validate a need for an idea. Go talk to actual people who have the problem you believe they do.
- Have a good balance of pessimism and optimism. Be critical of your own decisions.
- Don't start an LLC when you haven't made a good bit of money that proves you're solving a real problem.
- Just don't bring in volunteers to help you; they will add more management that you shouldn't be handling as a young founder. If you're looking for help, look for cofounders.
- Learn everything by hand now. If by small chance you're getting traction, you'll need to learn those skills anyway. Don't bother paying for outside assistance.
- Be frugal and resourceful.
- Reach out for mentorship, participate in entrepreneurial communities, build a personal brand that people will know you for; this will come in handy.
- Start with a problem you have, see if at least one person will pay for a solution to that problem, design a solution and get a resounding yes from your user, build the MVP, get more users.
- Shut up about I am "X", so I can't do "Y". Are you an introvert and you're afraid to talk to people? Too bad, learn how to sell or never get a sale - your choice. Are you non-technical and your startup requires some coding? There are so many resources out there for you.
- Many, many, many, of you have the ability to set aside time for meaningful personal development, but will opt on saying that time doesn't exist for you. That's a way of phrasing a false reality that will help you feel comfortable and ignorant of a more productive reality. Do you actually want to be an entrepreneur? That comes with the good and the bad.
Over the next 3 months I had over 200 15-minute interviews with users for different solutions I pivoted to, and by the end of it I was trying to solve for a completely different idea that I didn't really care about - helping students get the skills to succeed in the job market.
My current venture
I had a few projects come and go from January 2024 to March 2024, but this recent one I'm working on has stuck with me. I wanted to bring together founders in a networking event on my college campus. I hosted one in early March and 12 people came together and talked for over 2 hours about their experiences. We all exchanged phone numbers, and they asked me to host another one - so I planned one in April and 25 people showed!My vision for this venture is to help early-stage entrepreneurs collaborate on startup issues genuinely and authentically. I've tested a few different ways about doing that and I'm now developing an app to facilitate week-long masterminds.
Where I am
I've been working minimum 12 hours a day, from 8am to 11pm most days. I don't have a job if you discount my startup work, and I'm living with my mother. Now I'm getting closer to reality and what I've asked for from the entrepreneurial life style when I started. I'll have a story worth sharing.I initially wrote this post to vent about how my third cofounder left yesterday - and with it my plans to move to NYC to room with him, and how I was looking forward to moving out of my mother's to join an accelerator in Florida for the past 4 months, but they didn't want to fund me yesterday too.
When I started writing this post I wanted to give some context into this current predicament I am in, but now I realize that I'll be okay. Sometimes things don't go as you planned them to be 100 times in a row. You have to get back on your feet. Maybe this is why, "never give up" is cliche - because it's been advised many many times.

I absolutely adore this game. It is the most immersive FPS I’ve ever played, and the community is an absolute gem. Now, I’m asking for that community’s help.
Some time back, there was an update to this game. Something changed, and it caused me to get booted after about 6 minutes every time I connected to a server. I’ve timed it on a stopwatch many times. I’ve scoured the internet, and I haven’t been able to find people with similar issues, let alone a solution.
I play the game on PC. This is so strange because I thought I’d install the game on gamepass on Xbox series S, and the exact same problem persists. I can not maintain a server connection for more than a few minutes. Initially I thought this was just a quirk in the update and it would resolve itself in time, but it’s been like a year. Every now and then I check back to see if I still have the problem. I connect to server, start the stop watch, and get disconnected soon after. It absolutely breaks my heart.
I play a ton of other online shooters (Warzone, hunt, CS2, etc), and this is pretty much the only one it happens with. It actually happened with Rising Storm Vietnam as well, but I was just trying that game out and never really got into it so no worries there. I’ve tried everything I can think of. New routemodem, uninstalling/reinstalling. I just can’t maintain a connection.
In the 6 minutes I played last night, I had a great talkative squad and got a couple quick kills. It reminded me how much I love and miss this game. I have nowhere else to turn except the amazing Hell Let Loose community.
Can you help me? Have you ever heard of an issue like this? Do you have any ideas what could cause, or better yet solve the issue? I’m desperate. I just want to play one of my favorite games, but I’m afraid I’ll never get to enjoy the magic again (for more than 6 minutes at a time).
Can you help a fallen soldier return to the battlefield?

The only thing that needs Vietnam is VTC pay and Online Banking and it's already having 10% VAT. What else do you want?

So you're saying that Steam should pay tax for operating in their country? The data is from oversea. When you buy it, it goes from oversea...to oversea. The only thing they did is allowing you buy shit from your own country too (with 10% VAT btw) + the right to access. Technically you don't even own these things, unlike GoG. Is Vietnam gonna block like 99% internet just from accessing? Because Vietnamese can still access them and they would not give a shit about tax in Vietnam?
Edit: Oh man these people just can't understand that Steam didn't sell shit to you people specifically. They allow you to buy it, but it's okay for you to not buy it because they don't give a fuck about you. The only "business" they do in Vietnam is working VTC to assist people to buy games that they sell from oversea. They didn't even arrive to you because there's nothing in Vietnam. They arrive to your account. The products are still 100% from oversea, not Vietnam.
