24 [M4F] Germany/Europe/Online - For the Hatred of Life

2024.05.14 16:17 CuriousAnachronism 24 [M4F] Germany/Europe/Online - For the Hatred of Life

Prologue
Hello and welcome to my post. I will subdivide this into two large parts. One will cover my thoughts, feelings, my hopes and dreams...While the other will tell you the specifics of how I pass the time, what topics interest me, what passions do I posses. I believe that at the end of this leap into my inner world, you dear reader, will have all the necessary information to judge whether we are compatible or not.

Part I
I am writing this in the hopes of finding something that I lack. Lately I have had this feeling, this tinge of melancholy within the dephts of my being, this yearning to find a kindred spirit, another Soul, much like mine, to form a bond with. Perhaps Loneliness is the right word for what is bothering me, but to use it seems to carry with it a connotation of ungratefulness. Ungratefulness for the people that I do have in my life, although none of them, of course, have the connection to me that I seek here.

I have found it increasingly necessary to seek in this Life a sort of purity of thought. What I mean is, I have began to undestand what ideas and concepts are ultimately compatible with my inner most Self, ergo what guidelines I have to follow to feel the most whole. Naturally I have likewise realised what I cannot add to my Self and what I will henceforth reject with all the power that I posses.

With this new context in mind, I now follow on the path of self improvement. I will now begin to mold my Self into my perfected idea of how the Self should be. This is certainly a significant undertaking, one that will not be easy to follow through on but one that I ultimately have to do. To me such context is essential. It is akin to a Guiding Star shining in the night. I will follow this Star for without it I am lost in the vast Darkness.

Looking back at my life, it was suboptimal, especially if one compares the way it molded me to how I will now mold myself. I suppose I must look on with a hint of regret at all that time which one might consider to be lost. Still... I try to stave off such decisively negative interpretations, after all, I have ultimately came to these conclusions. That means that somewhere along the line I had to have picked up on enough of such ideas for them to become so cemented in my consciousness. Well, either that or I was always like this, but in that case I can at least thank my life up to this point for not being able to supress such manifestations of my inner most Self.

To add to the topic of my life, I must admit that not all the battles have yet been won, not all the Demons vanquished, not every Mountain climbed. I want you to keep such things in mind when deciding whether or not to approach me. Many will shy away, I undestand that much, but the pursuit of true Companionship is just another such battle. Having said all that I do believe that being able to overcome hurdles together carries with it a certain appeal. That is to say, what's the fun in joining once the Game is already over?

I don't shy away from such challenges, perhaps to a fault. Certain troubles that I faced in the past carry with them a long shadow over my current health and well being. Still, I intend to change little in this regard other than the proficiency with which I will clash the current of my Will against the cliffs of Life.
Part II
In this part of my post I will tell you about my interests and hobbies, I will try to be thorough, commonality in this regard is rather important to build a relationship
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor gambling his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog. These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Manking Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good first season from the new arc of Bleach. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.
Epilogue
Hopefully I was able to cast the spotlight upon my inner World in a clear and unequivocal manner. I feel the need to add to the aforementioned that I am rather introverted, which means that I tend to dislike large social gatherings. I managed to condition myself to be able to endure the presense of large groups of people but it isn't something that I would seek out in most cases. Besides that I am neurodivergent and suffer from certain issues with mental health. I have to take medication to keep myself under control. They work well enough but certain days are harder than others. I respect the struggle that others have with mental health but in the context of a relationship I have my limits, no one with BDP for instance. I am also not looking for anything casual. I understand than one cannot demand depth and meaning from a conversation with an absolute stranger, that is akin to trying to build a sand castle right before the waves strike but I ask at least that you enter with a mindset that this might become something of significance. I also do want to say that I am completely Monogamous. My preference? The sickly, pale, intellectual who watches rain droplets slide down the window in Autumn. Lastly, if I enjoy the company of a person I tend to not want to let them go.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and have a good day. I ask that you send a DM instead of a chat and that you give your thoughts on my title in the opening of your message.
Goodbye...Or perhaps untill we meet again

2024.05.14 15:09 nitekillerz Looking to buy 85” 4K

I’m looking to buy my first TV and I’ve been reading here a bit and it seems pretty much all the Samsung TVs offered locally are under the do not buy. I was mainly looking for a Sony TV to fill the space. Using it for mainly streaming and sports(still streaming prob but casting vs app on TV). Is the x90L going to be my cheapest option? I was looking at something closer to 1200$ but the x90L is $2000
Model in photo is 55” according to realtor. Two windows on each side and a sliding door on the right

AITAH for passing out during a family gathering meant to introduce our new baby?

So, recently I(27F) had a beautiful baby girl with my husband(29M). She's my pride and joy, I love her more than I love myself. But, taking care of her has taken its toll on me. My husband promised the work would be 50/50 when we agreed we wanted children, but I don't feel that's being reflected by his actions this past month.
It's gotten to the point where I can't even ask him to wash her up without him saying something along the lines of, "My paternity leave is short, I want to make the most of it by relaxing a bit. I'll help you out later." And I get it. His paternity leave is only 6 weeks while mine is 16 weeks, but my nether regions hurt like a bitch for a better part of two weeks after the birth and all he could do for me was occasionally burp her.
Now, my baby girl has gotten to a phase where she doesn't want to sleep. She'll sleep for an hour, but then she's up and back to crying and I have to get up and try to soothe her. It's been happening for a week now and I've gotten so little sleep that I'm nodding off while eating or doing tge laundry and stuff. Saturday was the month anniversary of my daughter's birth, so I decided to gather both sides of the family to meet her. (They hadn't met her prior because a)I wanted to rest as much as I could and b)I heard somewhere that you shouldn't be taking babies out and about when they're fresh out the womb cause they're more prone to illness then).
So, we had this gathering at my mother's house and all was well. Everyone was cooing over our baby, there was food, people were catching up or meeting for the 1st time. It was nice. But, I had gotten about 3 hours(generous estimate) of sleep in total the past week and I was starting to feel the effects of it. I was feeling lightheaded and clammy, but I didn't wanna make a scene so I tried to go to a bedroom to lie down. I didn't take 10 steps before my vision completely blacked out.
I wasn't down for long, but I had fallen over which drew some attention. I explained to everyone who was concerned that I was fine and that I was just not getting enough sleep and I could see my husband visibly frown at that. They gave me some of the dessert my aunt made to get my sugar up and the party continued. I felt embarrassed about the whole thing, especially since everyone was still looking over me til we left, but it's whatever
What bothered me is my husband's reaction. When we got home, he started going off on me about how I "made him look bad" and like "he wasn't taking care of me". I was confused on how tf me passing out made HIM look bad, but he refused to explain himself and had a pity party for himself in the kitchen.
I was still feeling bad, so I decided to leave him alone and just to go sleep, but he seems to have taken that as a sign that I don't care about his feelings. He's in my ear this morning about how I just ignored him to go sleep last night and how I didn't even put the baby to sleep before leaving. Is he right? AITAH here?

Update: So I've tried talking with him, but he's been ignoring me and the baby the last three hours. I'd usually wait longer, but I'm just too tired to deal with this right now. You guys were right, I do need help with this, and he's made it very clear he's not ready to help me yet, so I'm just going to go to my mom's place. I'm currently packing. I'm so done.

NTA and I can’t call your husband the names I want to because my comment will be deleted.
Paternity leave isn’t a time to relax, it’s a time you’re helping raise the baby and spending time together as a family. CLEARLY he is not doing either of these things as A. You’d be better rested and B. He’d have noticed you’re exhausted.
You passing out made him look bad because it was clear to everyone that you’re being left to raising your baby alone. It’s clearly not a partnership and the AH you’re married to is turning it onto you to shift responsibility and blame.
You need to seriously reconsider the relationships future and bring this up with him as it all comes down to him and his behaviour. If he gets his shit together, then things will be much better. But if he doesn’t, you and your daughter deserve so much better.

awaythrowers97
He doesn't know what "paternity leave" is and doesn't really want to take care of his family. Sadly, you can't seem to shake that loser.

ArticleOld598
This deadbeat of a father and husband is using his 6 weeks to laze around instead of using it taking care of his wife & child.
OP you said you love your baby more than yourself, would you want to let her grow up and think that it's normal for wives to push themselves while they're sleepless and in pain until they faint & husbands to berate them instead of worrying & taking care of them?
Tell your parents that your husband doesn't help you at all & blamed you for "making him look bad". You know what else makes him look bad? Being a deadbeat father and partner.

Update - 1 day later

Hi all, your comments were really helpful, so thank you!
Yesterday, before I could Uber to my mom's house, my sister offered to help me, so I'm staying with her instead. She's taking PTA to help me out with my girl, which I'm very grateful for. She also gave me sleep medicine that knocked me out for hours (I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not, but I slept long and well so I don't care.)
I woke up a few hours ago to tons, and I mean TONS, of messages from my husband. Like, the little app icon had 99+ on it. Here are some of the things he said(copy pasted):

I would screenshot, but it says this community doesnt allow attachments, so i can't. And I know it's a bit weird to tell yall what he's been texting me, but I'm mad right now and this feels therapeutic lol. I already sent the screenshots to his mom though!
As for my baby, I have an appointment to a paediatrician for Wednesday, but for now she's on formula since my breast milk quality isn't the best for understandable reasons. My sister said she wasn't as fussy as I described, so I really think the problem is with my milk. That or my sister wanted to make me feel better for sleeping, who knows. I'll wait for the doctor's opinion.
I'm not feeling 100% but I feel a whole lot more better than before. Thank you to everyone who showed concern! I think this will be the last update since I wanna not think too much about my husband rn.

I am sooo glad you left and got some help and rest. You definitely need and deserve it.
I still can't get over your husband's mental gymnastics here. He hasn't been a parent, hasn't helped you at all, and hasn't really spent any time caring for his daughter and only cares about what other people (besides you) think, but "misses his baby girl" and wants you to come back "so we can go back to being happy"?! Sounds like the only person who was happy was him--he got a 6 week vacation and didn't have to lift a finger. Let me guess-you were doing all the cooking and cleaning on top of caring for the baby? From what he is texting you, he thinks he did nothing wrong. He is being deliberately obtuse.
To add insult to injury he calls you a bitch and threatens you with the cops. Lovely. He is a real peach.
I really want to know what his mom has to say. Does she know he was mad at you for passing out?

Efficient-Cupcake247
Because it isn't about love. It is about control and image. Please keep strong. You have done a fabulous job doing what you need to for you and baby. Best wishes

blehguardian
To be clear, kidnapping is not involved. Until a custody agreement is submitted to the court, either married parent is legally permitted to take their child for any reason.

Aggravating-Pipe-903
Damn, this dude is crazy. Hopefully next update it’ll be ex-husband

AITAH for passing out during a family gathering meant to introduce our new baby? LAST UPDATE - 4 days later

For all of you who wanted to know what his mother's reaction was, she yelled at him and he made that my problem. The things he's messaged me are vile. And even though MIL was mad at him and KNOWS what he's been saying to me, she still insisted that I go visit him face to face so we can work things out.
I don't really blame her. He's her son, of course she'd still want to help him, but still....With all the ways he's been threatening me and cussing me out, I really didnt want to see him, but I decided to go. Mostly because I needed the stuff that I left at our house.
I went with my sister for safety, obviously. We got there and he played with our baby, he offered to feed her (she wasn't hungry), just acting completely different from the man texting me about how much of a "heartless bitch" I am. I didn't really feel comfortable having him near me or the baby with how violent his texts were, but she's still his baby. I don't think the courts would favour him after I show his texts, but I thought I should rather be safe and allow him some form of contact before going to court. This was a mistake.
At the end of the visit, I decided I should go pack my stuff, since that was one of the only reason I agreed to come. But, I didn't feel comfortable not being there while he had my baby. Yeah, my sister was there and I trust her, but I'd rather watch her with my own eyes. So, my sister went upstairs to pack for me. As soon as she was gone, he started talking about "See? I'm good now I can take care of her." And other stuff but that wasn't the problem. Even if he became super dad, I wouldn't be able to see him the same. Not after all those messages he sent me.
I told him that and he got pissed at me. I was getting worried since my daughter was still in his arms, so I tried to deescalate his feelings. It didn't work and he started yelling at me for "being heartless" and "stubborn" and whatnot. I wasn't really focused on what he was saying, I was focused on my baby. I tried to reach out for her and he shoved me hard enough to fall back. My sister came down and tried to help, but he shoved her away too and ran to the guest room and locked himself and MY BABY in there. He refused to come out unless my sister left and i stayed behind. I can't tell y'all how scary it is to not know what's happening to your child.
It took officers almost 30 minutes to get him out, which pissed me off. Like I know they were probably trying to assess the danger or whatever but I just wanted my baby. In that 30 minute window he could've shaken her or threw her out the window or something and they were there asking him to come out like he was a child and not breaking down the door. She was fine, though, so I can't be too mad.
They didn't arrest him since "no harm was done" even though my sister and I have bruises to prove otherwise, but they held him outside while I packed my stuff. It actually bothers me that they didn't at least detain him, but there's not much I can do about it now. I don't think I'm going to go near him again. Not with my baby. I'm thinking of going to apply for that emergency custody thing yall were talking about.
This happened on Wednesday and I'm still shaken. It's really depressing, for a lack of better word, seeing how much he's changed. I really loved him and I felt he loved me too. How he's acting is crushing me. I feel deflated. My baby girl and my sister are really the only things keeping me going right now.
I'm sorry for the wall of text, it's just that texting this all out helps me feel better. But, I don't think I want to continue updating. Just know that we're splitting up. Thank you all for your support!!
Extra: after visiting the doctor, I've decided to just skip the hassle and formula feed. She seems happier with formula anyways.

OMG document everything. Take pictures of the bruises. Go see a doctor and tell the doctor you just need things documented to protect yourself and your baby. File a police report for assault and both you and your sister write detailed statements of everything that happened. Then apply for emergency custody.

georgiajl38
Go to the police station and file a report for assault. Screw those cops. They didn't have to take him but the assault report should have definitely been filed. Get in front of a magistrate asap!!!

2024.05.14 13:32 twotall88 How are added bedrooms on septic handled during listing?

We are in the process of trying to buy a plot of land and build a house on it. The perc test should be done this weekend for a 4 bedroom which matches the floorplan we've selected. But, we plan to build out the basement with some bedrooms in the future and our plans will include the egress windows from the start. The subject question led me down a rabbit hole on our current home and future home.
Our current house's septic system was only designed for 3 bedrooms as far as we can tell, but with two 'bonus' bedrooms in the basement (egress window, 8 feet ceilings, closet). We didn't pull a permit for the egress windows so 'the man' never had a chance to say there's an issue with the septic rating.
Does that just mean that when the sale listing goes to MLS it has to have 3bed/3bath and the description will have the two 'bonus' rooms in the basement? I know this will impact search filters for people looking for more bedrooms.
As for the new build, the seller chose the 4 bedroom number as they are the ones doing the perc test. Should I have that modified once we get going with building to oversize the septic system? I did some rough google-ing and it looks like the cost difference between a 4-bedroom and a 6-bedroom septic is between $4,000-6,000

2024.05.14 13:29 star_dust80 Scale weight

Scale weight is funny, my daily fluctuations are sometimes really high. But when you look at weekly and monthly, there is a nice sliding scale. I am halfway there, I would like to lose another 5 kg, or perhaps not per se that amount but at least a dress size (which can happen with higher weight, but more muscle growth). I am 43F, 165 cm, SW 76.1, CW 70.1, GW: 65 kg. 16 to 20 hours fasts with different eating windows, but always under 8 hours Working out 5 times a week, cardio and strength.

Introduction to Mold Inspections

Mold inspections are assessments performed to detect the presence of mold in a building. They are usually carried out by professionals trained to identify mold inspection near me and its potential sources. However, there are also ways you can inspect for mold yourself. The goal is to identify mold early to prevent health risks and structural damage.

Why Mold Inspections Are Important

Mold isn't just unsightly—it can pose significant risks to both your health and the structure of your home. Here's why mold inspections are crucial:

Health Risks of Mold

Mold spores can trigger allergies, respiratory issues, and other health problems. If left unchecked, they can worsen asthma, cause skin irritations, and even lead to serious illnesses.

Structural Damage from Mold

Mold can weaken building materials like wood, drywall, and insulation. Over time, this can lead to costly repairs and even structural failure if the mold spreads extensively.

Common Signs of Mold in Your Home

Detecting mold early is key to preventing its spread. Here are some common signs that you might have a mold problem:
Visual Clues
Mold can appear as black, green, white, or even orange spots or patches. It often grows in damp areas, like bathrooms, basements, or around leaky pipes.
Odors and Smells
A musty or earthy odor is a strong indicator of mold. If you notice this smell, it's time to investigate further.
Health Symptoms
If you or your family experience unexplained allergies, respiratory issues, or frequent headaches, it could be a sign of mold exposure.

How to Conduct a Mold Inspection

You can perform a preliminary mold inspection yourself or hire a professional. Here's what you need to know:
DIY Methods
Start by checking areas prone to moisture, like bathrooms, basements, and kitchens. Look for visual signs of mold and use your nose to detect any unusual smells. You can also purchase mold test kits, but their accuracy varies.
Professional Mold Inspectors
Professionals use specialized equipment and techniques to identify mold and its sources. They can also test air quality to determine if mold spores are present.

What to Expect During a Professional Mold Inspection

If you decide to hire a professional, here's what typically happens during a mold inspection:
The Process
The inspector will conduct a thorough visual examination, focusing on areas with moisture or visible mold. They may also take samples for laboratory testing to identify the type of mold present.
Tools and Techniques Used
Professionals use thermal cameras, moisture meters, and air quality monitors to detect mold and its sources. These tools help them identify hidden mold and areas at risk of mold growth.

Understanding Mold Types

Knowing the type of mold in your home can help determine the appropriate course of action. Here are some common types of mold:
Black Mold
Black mold, or Stachybotrys, is one of the most toxic molds. It's often found in damp areas and can cause severe health problems.
Other Common Household Molds
Other types of mold include Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Penicillium. While not as toxic as black mold, they can still cause health issues and damage to your home.

Preventing Mold in Your Home

Prevention is the best way to avoid the problems caused by mold. Here's how you can keep mold at bay:
Controlling Moisture
Mold thrives in moist environments. Fix leaks promptly, keep gutters clean, and use dehumidifiers in damp areas to reduce moisture levels.
Proper Ventilation
Ensure your home has adequate ventilation, especially in areas prone to moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. Exhaust fans and open windows can help keep air flowing.

Dealing with Mold if Found

If you find mold in your home, it's essential to act quickly to prevent its spread. Here's what you can do:
DIY Removal
Small patches of mold can often be removed with household cleaners and proper safety equipment. Always wear gloves and a mask, and ventilate the area while cleaning.

When to Call the Experts

For larger mold infestations or if the mold is in hard-to-reach places, it's best to call an Alhumd Inspections professional. They have the expertise and equipment to safely remove mold without spreading spores.

Cost of Mold Inspections and Remediation

The cost of mold inspections and remediation can vary depending on several factors. Here's what you need to know:
Factors Affecting Cost
The size of the affected area, the type of mold, and the severity of the infestation all impact the cost. Professional mold inspections typically range from $200 to $600, while remediation can cost anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars.
Ways to Save Money
To save money, address moisture issues promptly, and consider DIY mold inspections before calling in professionals. Regular home maintenance can also help prevent costly mold problems.

Conclusion

Mold inspections are essential for maintaining a healthy home. By identifying mold early and taking the appropriate steps to remove it, you can prevent health risks and structural damage. Remember to control moisture, ensure proper ventilation, and conduct regular inspections to keep mold at bay.

FAQs

How often should I conduct a mold inspection?
It's a good idea to inspect for mold at least once a year or after significant water damage, such as flooding or roof leaks.
Can I use bleach to clean mold?
While bleach can kill mold on non-porous surfaces, it's not always effective on porous materials like drywall. It's best to use mold-specific cleaning products or seek professional advice.
Is mold always visible?
No, mold can grow in hidden areas like behind walls or under flooring. That's why it's crucial to look for other signs like musty odors or unexplained health symptoms.
What should I do if I find black mold?
If you find black mold, it's best to call a professional for removal. Black mold can be toxic, and improper removal can spread spores.
Can mold grow in dry climates?
Yes, mold can grow in dry climates if there's enough moisture from leaks, condensation, or poor ventilation. Always address moisture issues promptly to prevent mold growth.

2024.05.14 11:44 vidmeduffy Effects animation lag on page load in MacOS Safari. Known issue?

Hi all. Hoping someone can help. When loading my site in MacOS Safari (17.2.1), the effects/animations lag significantly (See video here: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/27645048?key=972a1218c82f2cc54db2981410d418a9 — and overall, site-wide effects look bad compared to Chrome — like the frame rate is lower. For context, all effects in the hero are triggered on 'Appear' to slide in from bottom with the following settings: Stiffness 150; Damping 30; Mass 1; Bezier 0.44, 0, 0.56, 1; Time .6; Ease in and out; And delays of .1, .2, .3, .4, and .5 for each of the 5 layers. When I load in a private window, the load effects don't have the same major lag, but the effects are still generally choppy as described above. Have cleared cache, etc., to try to remedy the issue to no avail. Any ideas what might be going on? Have tried searching around but haven't found much to go on. Here's a link to the site https://workmode.fyi — would appreciate if you'd lmk if you can replicate the same issues. Thank you! 🙏

2024.05.14 10:47 Savings_Pen273 Urgent advice needed!

Urgent advice needed!
We have recently renovated our new house, it had some asbestos containing materials such as Softfit boards, a flue pipe, tiles, popcorn ceilings.
We paid for an asbestos contractor to get all that removed and provide us with an air test however my Son has OCD and goes crazy when he hears the word “asbestos”, we are due to move in but since we are in London most houses here are terraced and so is ours and he has noticed the neighbours Soft-Fit Board is the same and has not been removed and is close to his Window, this is the case for both neighbours.
Please let me know if there is a possibility of this affecting us? We’ve told the neighbours, but yeah really at a loss and need some advice, I’m not that educated on asbestos but as far as I know when its outside it’s not as dangerous, he’s also realised that the neighbours ceilings are popcorn (on both sides) and he is saying that will also effect us? ( we don’t have a shared basement or anything) Is that possible please I’m looking for some guidance.
Thank you!

2024.05.14 10:33 AnnihilatorUk Integrating Russound CAV 6.6 with Home Assistant on VirtualBox

Hello everyone, I'm currently facing a challenging issue with integrating a Russound CAV 6.6 (circa 2006) into my Home Assistant setup that's running on a VirtualBox hosted on Windows 10. The device itself is operational—I can play audio and interact with it using PC tools. The Home Assistant environment is also up and running smoothly; it's even connected to my Alexa without any problems.
However, the integration of the Russound CAV 6.6 has been problematic, and neither manual nor repository methods have been successful. Here are the details of what I've tried and the problems I've encountered:
  1. Manual Integration Attempt:
    • Following the manual integration steps (link below), I tried to add the Russound CAV 6.6. Unfortunately, the installation process fails every time, and I suspect there might be an issue with my configuration or perhaps a missing step that I'm not aware of.
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/control-russound-ca-66-on-hassos-with-rnet-using-ser2net-and-portaine273600
  1. Repository Integration Attempt:
    • I attempted to add the integration through the repository. This method resulted in an error (details below) and similarly failed to initiate the installation.
Cmd(‘git’) failed due to: exit code(128) cmdline: git clone -v –recursive –depth=1 –shallow-submodules – Ser2Net-for-Russound/Ser2Net-for-Russound/ha-addons at master · biochemguy/Ser2Net-for-Russound · GitHub /data/addons/git/8bf4a35a stderr: ‘Cloning into ‘/data/addons/git/8bf4a35a’… fatal: repository ‘Ser2Net-for-Russound/Ser2Net-for-Russound/ha-addons at master · biochemguy/Ser2Net-for-Russound · GitHub’ not found ’
  1. Configuration and Setup:
    • VirtualBox is running the latest version of Home Assistant and everything has been updated to the latest version, enabled the usb to serial on the virtual box,
Given these challenges, I am seeking guidance on several points:
The one thing I don’t know how to check is what port the Russound is using over serial is set to 3333.
My configuration.yaml is this Media_player:
Platform: russound_rnet Host: 127.0.0.1 Port: 3333 Name: Russound Zones: 1: Name: Main Bedroom 2: Name: Living Room 3: Name: Kitchen 4: Name: Bathroom 5: Name: Dining Room 6: Name: Guest Bedroom 7: Name: Basement Recroom Sources: Name: Computer
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I navigate these integration hurdles.
Thank you all in advance for your assistance! Anni

The gym is 100m - 100m - 30m, and has all the equipment you need. There is a wall target, that measures force, energy and a beings aura. It reads in hundred trillions, to a maximum of 999,999,999,999,999, before looping back to one, adding a small light nest to the number. The entrance is double footed and are flanked by two huge tinted windows. There are few other people in the gym. There is a cafe, now on a higher platform about 10m off the ground, with stairs leading up towards it. There is now a rock climbing floor and ‘battlefield’ on the basement floor.

For the booted usb I used Intel VMD drivers from ElevenForum.com
I tried restarting and also rebooting but nothing works. Actually now I can’t even get past the “Let’s connect you to a network” slide in the configuration intro because nothing appears.
I tried to download the critical drivers for network ethernet and wireless (for the latitude 5440) on Dell.com into an usb but how do I install them on the dell latitude? When I boot I don’t see the critical drivers for network ethernet wireless.

2024.05.14 07:47 Gentle_Clash Why can't I use quick floating windows?

Why can't I use quick floating windows?
Device - Oneplus Nord CE 2 lite 5g, just got it yesterday.
As you can see, the method to use floating windows by sliding the window from bottom to the floating windows options that appears.
I cannot exactly word the problem (my vocabulary skill issue), the floating windows option appear for a brief time (≈0.4 seconds) and then it shows recent windows only.
I can choose floating windows from there too, but then what's the point of "quick floating windows". (I am more familiar with quick floating windows since I always used that in my previous phone).
Also why the hell can't I freely crop the videos ( at least this recording ) in the Edit option in Photos (pre installed one). I don't want notification bar to appear in all my videos along with that large recording icon.
Very inconvenient.

2024.05.14 07:25 beyondthetech Everything so far about the X2 Ring

Everything so far about the X2 Ring
So, the Ring of the X2 AR Glasses is a bit of a double-edged sword:
  • Like a network connection, it’s a requirement for any non-native-X2 app (read: every Android app) to even launch (so don't lose it!),
  • the battery is incredibly small at only 30mAh (so you may have to charge it as often as your glasses!),
  • it has yet another proprietary magnetic connector that's different from the X2's already proprietary magnetic connector,
  • there's no quick or easy way to turn it off,
  • the gyroscopic pointing can get tedious,
  • the touch surface is too sensitive and can easily triggers unintended taps - just try virtually typing a full sentence and you'll see it's an exercise,
  • it's $100 USD to replace or get a spare (I confirmed with [RayNeo Service and Support](mailto:service@rayneo.com)).
  • while it appears to be Bluetooth (or Bluetooth Low Energy), peculiarly, it never appears as a paired Bluetooth device in Android Settings.
But, all in all, it offers quick access to your X2’s interface without having to physically touch your glasses.
That being said, a few things that can make your experience better:
  • If you’re having a tough time scrolling horizontally or vertically, try sliding your finger near the sides of the Ring, essentially using the edge of the touchpad. That will give you less chance of inadvertently triggering a touch or sliding in the wrong direction.
  • Same with the top of the touchpad to slide horizontally, but you may need to bring your finger down a bit as the top of the touchpad ends before the angle and the LED indicator.
  • If you want to quickly disable your Ring without having to go through the RayNeo OS's menu system, temporarily take off your X2 glasses. That will instantly disconnect the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios and make the glasses go to sleep. Consequently, the disconnected Ring will go to sleep from inactivity.
  • You can keep your finger on the touchpad while trying to point, to prevent inadvertent “clicks,” then lift then tap to actually click.
  • Install an alternative input method, such as FUTO Voice Input. After installing the standalone APK, you'll need to go into Android Settings, System, Languages & input, On-screen keyboard, Android Keyboard (AOSP), Preferences, and turn on the Voice input key feature, so that you'll be access it whenever the on-screen keyboard pops up.
  • I bought a two-pack of these magnetic charging cables from Amazon (USA, search for B0CLXZZJT5), and one of them had the right polarity and connector pinout to charge the Ring properly.
Here's hoping u/RayNeo_Global can add a feature to only register clicks with an actual CLICK of the Ring, not just a TAP.
Even though the Ring basically operates like a Bluetooth touchpad, the X2 cannot currently pair with any standard Bluetooth device (unless the smartphone is unpaired from the glasses). Perhaps there is a device on the market or one that can be created or hacked that can mimic a Ring? Or perhaps the paired smartphone can have an app that can emulate a keyboard and mouse for the X2?
Peculiarly, you can pair your smartphone to the Ring directly, but currently it's useless after that - it pairs like a keyboard (random PIN), but then does not provide mouse or any control to the smartphone. Bottom line, it's a proprietary relationship between the X2 and the Ring alone.
Ok, with all that said, what's this software that RayNeo made to get vanilla Android, non-native-X2 apps working on your X2 glasses?
It's called App Container.
https://preview.redd.it/y1sumxqzvb0d1.png?width=3110&format=png&auto=webp&s=55875143ff82f79372b48f6f409dcaadbac6a74f
From what I can tell, App Container does a few things:
  • Checks for an existing connection with the Ring before continuing.
  • Checks for a working network connection before continuing, even if the app doesn't require it. (Please remove this requirement, u/RayNeo_Global!)
  • Launches a standard Android app in a portrait 360x480 mode that is then duplicated for both left and right AR glass screens.
  • Overlays a "laser pointer" cursor for the Ring's gyroscopic control.
  • Overlays a transparent "back and more" button that can be moved around the screen by placing the gyro pointer over it, then sliding on the Ring's touchpad. Additionally, the "more" button gives you an option to scan a QR code, as well as close the current Android application.
  • Frustratingly, it prevents any native Android dialogue box or screen from appearing for more than a few moments, to which it will force-close the app and return you to the RayNeo OS Home Screen.
So far, I've just touched upon it, but as you can see from the screenshot above, this app serves as the gatekeeper for the rest of the device.
SIDE NOTE: People have been saying that photos and videos being played back on a vanilla Android app are looking either dithered, corrupted, dark, or missing colors. This could be as a result of the App Container app splitting the screen, or displaying it incorrectly or fully, or something else is messing with the output. I tried to bring it up to u/RayNeo_Global support, and their response so far was:
Because programs such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, YouTube, and Plex are untested third-party applications, we are unable to guarantee their using results. Our updates can only fix issues with the internally tested apps that come with the glasses. Yes. The color depth is 8 bits.
This is the original image I sent to them:
https://preview.redd.it/dkkfv6t6yb0d1.png?width=728&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d51a154c752292bb5fb79dc4bdba315bb7f8556
And this is what it kinda looks like when you view it in Chrome or Edge in the glasses:
https://preview.redd.it/ey2r7jjq4e0d1.jpg?width=728&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ab009fcbb949b55cb7cdd9e6ca0a7e220e4ec84
Because the issue happens inside the glasses' screens and can't be captured on remote with scrcpy or Vysor, I'm at a loss to get them to diagnose it further. Perhaps if someone can provide some photos or the glasses, or maybe a native X2 app that gives the same output?
Ok, back to the App Container:
What you'll also notice in the screenshot above is that when the App Container launches an Android app, Vysor will show another instance of the same Android app that ran natively. This can be accessed by hitting the Recent Tasks button (three horizontal lines) on the bottom of the Vysor's window. You can then slide over and run the app again, and while it will look messed up in the glasses, it will function normally in Vysor's remote session. This is where you can easily access Android dialog boxes and menus without getting kicked out to the Home Screen.
More on the App Container:
  • If you go into the App Container's app settings, you can turn off "Display over other apps" and the transparent "back and more" buttons will no longer show. Haven't found a way to hide the laser pointer, though.
  • If you actually click Open in Settings and not let it actually load an Android app, it shows this interface that's mostly in Chinese. I have yet to throw it through a translator, nor have I clicked any buttons yet to tinker, with the exception of the Settings button, which actually takes you to Android Settings.
https://preview.redd.it/qxtzf5n2wb0d1.png?width=3116&format=png&auto=webp&s=8aeefbbe7b102680e267b122ab36167de4d0ded2
Lastly, RayNeo does offer the SDK to make their own native X2 apps. Since the App Container is a native X2 app, theoretically, one could build their own App Container app that won't require a network connection or the Ring, or maybe even connect to a tertiary input device. Or, they could take the source code of an existing Android app and tweak it so it launches as a native X2 app.
Hope some of this info gives you some insight on the hardware and software, and the thought processes that went into making this all work. Let me know what you think.

2024.05.14 07:12 Tangerine_Business Our Haunted Edmonton, AB Townhouse

During the mid 90s, we lived in a townhouse in West Edmonton Village that was definitely haunted. My husband, young daughter and myself all had experiences during our 3 years there.
Our daughter, who was 9 or 10 at the time, would hear a little girl talking to her while she was alone in the basement sometimes...asking to play with her. She and her best friend once saw her doll swing move on its own down there. They came flying up the stairs, freaked right out. lol She also saw a man walking from our computer room past her bedroom door into the hallway when my husband wasn't home. We'd often wake up to find her sleeping beside our bed on the floor because she'd be awakened by kids laughing and talking in her room during the night.
My husband would often hear me calling for him only to realize that I was at the rec center swimming or at the gym with our daughter. His work things would be moved around on him all the time, too. To this day, he still refuses to believe in anything paranormal...until I remind him of that place, then he just changes the subject. LOL
A bunch of little things happened around me at first. I saw the phone cord swinging in the hallway a couple of times when I was the only one home and no windows were open. One time I went to the cornerstore across the street leaving the door unlocked because I couldn't find my keys only to come back to the door being locked. I had to go back to the store to call my husband to see if he could come home from work with the key. When I got back...the freaking door was mysteriously unlocked again!
The most terrifying thing, though, happened on a weekday morning when I was home alone and still reading in bed at about 9am. All of a sudden, I heard a young girl screaming, crying and banging on our front door. I freaked out, thinking it was our daughter, and ran down the stairs...taking two or more steps at a time. As soon as I unlocked the door and swung it open, the screaming stopped. There was no one there! I ran out into cul de sac and NOBODY was anywhere around the street! I sat on the front step until my adrenaline subsided wondering what the hell had just happened....I was so confused.
I was definitely happy when my husband was transferred out of town a few months later. We've had other paranormal occurences over the years, but nothing as crazy as when we lived there.

2024.05.14 06:17 Pizza-beer-weed 5 months after moving out of apartment landlord messages saying that they will be pursuing action for lost income for the mess I left.

Toronto, ON. I got a message at 11:55pm from my old landlord who’s place I moved out of 5 months ago claiming that their gonna pursue legal action for loss of income due to my negligence of how the room I was renting was left. Just to clarify I paid a $2000 damage deposit when I moved in, and the landlord never paid it back when I moved out, and ignored every call and message since than. I gave up after a month in asking for my deposit back and filed a report with the LTB. Also when I moved out I left the place clean. So I don’t even know what he’s talking about “my negligence” I filed the report back in February, and still waiting for a scheduled hearing. I’m also 100 percent sure that the rooms he was renting out weren’t legal due to being in the basement of his business and having no windows or vents. I’m just wondering what his goal is here, he waited 5 months to contact me making legal threats. I need some advice on this and if I should reply back to the landlord.

2024.05.14 06:12 8bitEevee Inlaws expect to stay 3+ months

I love my inlaws, however, I know they trigger tf out of my husband after just a couple of hours. They're great in small doses. They just moved back to the Philippines for retirement. However, they come back for 3-4 months at a time twice a year... April-July and November-January.
Trust me - I know.... it doesn't make a ton of sense.
They have always rented their home from my MILs brother. They also rented it for over 10 years for FAR under what her brother has to pay in mortgage, taxes, etc. The uncle has lost so much money in being generous with my MIL & FIL rents of the house... they moved, and inlaws are pressuring us to buy the house so they can A) keep their stuff there (his dad is a hoarder.) B) live in the basement during these long visits.
I WANT to buy the house, or even rent it for a little bit, but at a price we worked out with his uncle that would put him into about a $300 profit each month. We can easily afford it, and feel we benefit from the house, but also they benefit by finally seeing some positive revenue - but my inlaws fully expect to keep that their HQ when they come home so frequently. It would be a purchase with some baggage...
My husband said it absolutely won't happen. 2 weeks max. But... they will not take that kindly. Since he's been in his later 30s he has stood up to certain things with his mom and dad and his mom always says "What has happened to my son?" And lays the guilt on heavy. (He doesn't buckle though)
We have been brainstorming the conversation of "You can stay for short windows, but you are not leaving your stuff in the house and treating this like your home when you are back in the US. It's our home. Boundaries." But keep feeling helpless.
Open to any insight... we want this to be a good conversation and have them respect our boundaries. If they overstayed with us, my husband would certainly grow to resent them more than he already does and it would be awful.

2024.05.14 06:05 Cautious-You2906 Manipulative Roomies

Okay so, this will probably be long so buckle in.
About a month and a half ago a friend of mine, we'll call them K. K recently found out that the apartment they had been staying in wasn't going to be renewing their lease and if they didn't move their things by the end of day that the landlord would be starting the eviction process. As someone who has faced houselessness before, I offered to hold some of their stuff at my place temporarily and get them to the hotel they would be staying at until they could move into their new place. No biggie right? Wrong. After helping them move their stuff and getting them to the hotel, they stayed in communication with them so we could help them move the stuff from our house to their new place, and the day before they were supposed to move they got let known that they opted to go with another rental applicant instead. K and their partner, who we'll call J, started really panicking about having to keep paying for a motel without on paper jobs and unreliable income. Keep in mind I actively live in a low income complex myself and, cannot have guests, for more than 14 days at a time according to my lease. J had just gotten a lead on a job closer to my house so I offered to let them stay for the 14 day limit I'm allowed to have guests, so that they could get a paycheck in and be able to go to a cheaper motel close by to their job. Another thing they agreed to was making sure that there was no evidence of them staying in my house, and that they had to be gone during the inspection window m-f from 8am to 5pm. I know, I'm probably going to be told more than once how stupid this is or I am, but I need to vent about this before I lose my mind more than I have already.
Carrying on, my partner is working at the same place as J, so J had a reliable ride to this job. My first red flag with J was that J used almost all of their points within their first week at the new job for a myriad of reasons. First time was because K didn't feel good and didn't want to be left home alone. Fine. I thought it was really ignorant to start off on the wrong foot with a new job but whatever. Second time was because J didn't have lunch to take to work and can't work on an empty stomach. After this absence J explained to their boss that they were struggling to work on an empty stomach, so boss agrees to reach out to a local food bank to get some lunches packed for J and my partner for work every day so they don't have to work on empty stomachs every day until they start getting paid. J declined bosses offer because they didn't want the food pantry food offered to them. Third time J doesn't go in is yet again for K not feeling good and convincing J to stay home. Well , and today we found out at the last minute before they were supposed to be at work that J had been fired for accepting an overtime shift on Saturday and then no call no showing that shift. J had been at this job less than 3 weeks. Which is 1 week longer than I agreed to. Here's the kicker, I live with and care for a disabled woman who has very very severe anxiety, and K & J keep going behind my back to talk to her and lie about things they'll do for her to keep being allowed to stay here. And I'm going to bullet point all of the just outright shitty things these people have done since they got here, and before anyone tells me to make them leave; involving the cops is out of the question as it risks our housing, and they should be gone in the next couple of days.
-they have harassed me over cannabis since the day we helped them move their things. I live in a recreational state but consume for medical purposes.
-they have repeatedly paid back other people that they owe money instead of me or my partner and admitted that to our faces
-they keep 'accidentally' mixing my partners clothes with theirs and then wearing them in front of me. Keep in mind they're a, size small and my partner wears a 3x there's no confusing their shirts
-I have a deep freezer that I've been working hard to stockpile since covid hid and inflation has made grocery shopping so hard, and they've eaten every single thing out of my deep freezer.
-they have raided my entire pantry as well.
-they've thrown out my leftovers without asking me because they themselves don't eat leftovers
-they switched their visitations with their child from 4 hours on Tuesday nights to entire weekends without asking
-they took my partners special broth he had bought specifically to make something, opened it, and didn't even read the packaging, put it open back into my cabinet and it molded. Im allergic to mold :
-they've been asked repeatedly not to knock on my doors after my bedtime hours because my partner works early mornings and has a hard time sleeping; then proceed to message me one time and wait precisely 0.2 seconds for a response and then knock on my door anyways.
-they use my shower and leave hair, clog my drain, and don't ask anyone if they have to use the bathroom before they use it to shower for over an hour. I have also repeatedly asked them not to leave their dirty clothes on my bathroom floor and they won't.
-they argued about having to leave for the inspections and promised they would help clean during them and then stayed in the area they weren't allowed to be in for every day of the inspections and didn't do anything they said they would do.
-they keep having blowout fights in my basement and as I already stated the woman I care for has severe clinical anxiety. She did agree to this arrangement but I guess it's true that even if you think you know someone you really don't till you live with them.
-K has been smoking my cigarettes for days and doesn't replace them but won't buy their own pack
-they've been asked not to come upstairs unless it's to use the bathroom (not shower) during our quiet hours and they won't stop doing that either.
I'm sure there's more I'm missing but I'll answer any questions about it I guess. These people have gotten me so stressed out that my stress induced seizures, that I've had under control for over a year now have come back with a, vengeance and are happening almost every day, I'm getting migraines with aura, my hair is falling out in clumps, and another stress induced ailment I deal with is ALSO flaring up because of the stress. Don't need advice or anything just wanted to vent how frustrated I am 🥲
