A little about me, I'm Syche! F25+ and I have 10+ years of RP experience! I write in 3rd person past tense, and love a good slowburn romance sprinkled with action, adventure, political intrigue, and all that good stuff! My posts are generally between 2-6 paragraphs, but I'm completely comfortable with novella-length posts. I love references, playlists, art, and general gushing about the story/our characters!
What I'm looking for is someone too build a story with. When it comes to historic setting I'm happy just to use the fashion, social structure, architecture, vibes, etc rather than using a strict historic time line. I want this plot to be equal parts me and my partner, so no one of left to feel the burden of carrying a plot by themselves.

Alright, I’m honestly I’ve technically done this rp before, though not really at the same time. It’s the same world as before, but now there’s an actual main plot to the story to help things along rather than mindless idle to menace and shenanigans of possible scandals and so fourth. So here’s the prompt;
In the realm of Asmonia, four kingdoms—Armatius Empire, Mavia, Otarenth Dynasty, and Pruzodora—vie for power and control over the lands. For centuries, Armatius and Mavia have been locked in a bitter feud, each seeking dominance over the other. Meanwhile, Otarenth and Pruzodora have remained neutral, harboring ancient secrets and treasures within their borders.
As tensions escalate between Armatius and Mavia, rumors spread of an ancient kingdom hidden deep within the enchanted waters of Pruzodora. It's said that this kingdom holds immeasurable riches and mystical artifacts, capable of shifting the balance of power in the ongoing conflict.
To uncover the truth and claim the treasures for themselves, emissaries from Otarenth, Mavia and Pruzodora, along with their entourages, are invited to a grand ball hosted by the rulers of Armatius. The ball is intended to be a diplomatic affair, but beneath the surface, alliances are formed and betrayals plotted.
Is there poison in the wine? Should you dance with that adversary? Who’s listening to the whispers between you and your friend? Are they even friend, could they be foe all along?

Armatius; is the largest of the kingdoms but not the most populated. Behold out of the frozen mountain ranges this kingdom is accustomed to the cold. They have the most sturdy armor and weapons however and are very well versed in combat expertise. Though they have plenty of minerals for armor and weapons they do not have jewels and riches.
Mavia; the second largest kingdom this is the polar opposite from their neighbor. They are used to hot sands and scorching suns. Their castle is made from clay and stone slabs, though decorated with riches wherever they can place them. This kingdom is accustomed to immense wealth and they love silks and jewels

US April inflation came out and surprised to the downside, meaning that (at least in the US) domestic demand has cooled and consumer inflation has resumed its downward trend. • [NEWS] BSP keeps interest rates steady... The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) [link] said yesterday that its Monetary Board decided to keep rates steady. In doing so, the BSP said that inflationary risks “continue to lean toward the upside”, but that its latest forecasts showed that “inflation would settle close tot he upper-end of the target range.” As for inflation expectations, the BSP said that those “remain well-anchored”. The Monetary Board said that it “deems it appropriate to ensure tight monetary policy settings until inflation settles firmly within the target range”, and indicated that such a stance would also “help keep inflation expectations anchored”.
  
  • MB: At least the BSP stopped talking about wage increases as a potential inflationary risk. That said, does anyone else detect an air of contradiction in what the BSP is saying? Perhaps contradiction is too strong of a term, but I get the growing sense that the BSP’s reasons for keeping rates high are somewhat diverging from its own analysis. The BSP says that it’s primary objective is price stability, so we can infer that it’s keeping rates high as a means of trying to suppress price increases, and yet the BSP has again and again told us that the driver for price increases is a problem on the supply side of the equation, not the demand side. Interest rate adjustments don’t impact supply-side problems, because interest rate increases are meant to suppress demand. We don’t have a demand problem. Adding to this is the BSP’s concern about maintaining a tight policy to keep inflation expectations anchored, despite noting just a paragraph earlier that inflation expectations were already “well-anchored”. This implies that there is psychological space for the BSP to lower rates within the framework of current expectations. This is picky stuff, I know, there are simply too many people and companies struggling under high rates to ignore the rapidly decreasing marginal utility of yet another cycle of the BSP’s conservative observation of the situation. Just my personal opinion.
• [DIVS] DDMPR declares falling Q1 div at 116% payout ratio... DDMP [DDMPR 1.17 ▲0.9%; 37% avgVol] [link] declared a Q1/24 dividend of ₱0.023476, payable on July 15 to shareholders of record as of June 19. The dividend has an annualized yield of 8.03% based on the previous closing price. The total amount of the dividend is ₱419 million, which is 116% of the ₱362 million in distributable income that DDMPR reported for the quarter. Relative to DDMPR’s IPO price, the dividend increased DDMPR’s total stock and dividend return to -32.29%, up from its pre-dividend total return of -32.33%. DDMP REIT Fund Managers reported that DDMPR’s occupancy as of March 31 was just 76%, with occupancy at its main building (DoubleDragon Plaza) listed at just 70.8%.

• [EARNINGS] Jollibee Q1 profit: ₱2.6-B (up 27%)... Jollibee [JFC 224.00 ▲0.9%; 300% avgVol] [link] posted a Q1 net income attributable of ₱2.6 billion, up 27% from its Q1/23 net income attributable of ₱2.1 billion. JFC said it was able to grow profit margins and exceed its Q1 performance outlook thanks to “healthy top line growth combined with further operational efficiencies and effective management of expenses”. JFC’s system-wide sales were up 10.4% to ₱86.8 billion due to new store additions and same-store sales growth was up 5.5%, which JFC said was due to increased volume. Across all of JFC’s segmented business units, “Europe, Middle East, Asia” had the largest same-store sales growth (+14.7%) and system-wide sales growth (+25.5%). The “People’s Republic of China” and “Highlands Coffee” were negative in terms of same-store sales growth (-3.7% and -9.0%, respectively), and only the People’s Republic of China business unit was negative in terms of system-wide sales growth (-3.7%). The war where the heroes lost, the demon king won, and the entire land was plunged into darkness and despair. How haughty the humans and their allied were, proud of their chosen ones, light-blessed and equipped with the finest swords and armor. Yet the only news they received was that their entire party was wiped.
Thus, disappeared the hope.
The mighty walls that once stood tall, fell fast to siege. Morale amongst the kingdom and their pact nations quickly eroded into despair. The elves retreated into the forests, withdrawing to the protection of the Yggdrasil, the World Tree's blessing fading slowly to the darkness. The dwarves quickly traded loyalties, their talents in forging and smithing becoming easily translatable into a tool for the demonic forces. The merfolk withdrew their relations from the terrestrial, knowing that the sea at least would offer them a haven that the demons could not invade, at least not yet.
The demons were a poison rain upon a sugar cube, quickly dissolving human society.
But there were those that stood against the overwhelming darkness. Small outposts of humanity attempted their best to survive in this era, scavenging what remained of the world before, under the red skies of the demon king's rule. Those who still wielded magic and blade, dreaming of a day where races that didn't thrive on cruelty and evil could flourish yet again...

This is a medieval fantasy roleplay, with main themes of post-apocalypse and survival, along with possibilities of things like enemies-to-lovers, adventure, romance, and more! It very much depends on how we decide to write it, as the world is pretty expansive!
Please note that I'm comfortable playing either role! Some prompts within the world the demon lord rules:

• A survivor of the war, is injured while trying to scavenge for magic crystals in the ruins of a once-city. They're found by a demon, but that demon doesn't immediately kill them or take them to the governor. Instead, they sympathize with the survivor, willing to shelter them and perhaps even listen to their story...
• The resistance effort is difficult, as mana potions become more and more scarce, in the advent of the growing darkness. Every night, the number of hellhounds grows. A new trainee in the resistance is partnered with a veteran, as reluctant as the professional is. But their bond grows, and they learn to rely on one another under the dark skies.
• The World Tree, Yggdragsil, is dying. The royalty of the elven kingdom has sent the heir out on a quest to find a way to revitalize their sacred oak, as it may provide a means to fend off the darkness. Who will they find on their journey, and what can remove the blight? Do they not realize, that the affliction to the Yggdragsil, translates to all those who are tied to it, thus sealing the fate of the fair folk if nothing is done?

Hi! I'm looking for someone to RP in a story that I GM. I'm relatively literate by RPer standards, I think. It depends on the situation but I do between 2 and 5 paragraphs, more if I'm setting up a scene and less for dialog; not a fan of super long responses where it's just not at all necessary, no need to be doing like 4000 characters per reply. I can usually manage between 1 and 3 responses per day depending on how I’m feeling, but full warning, I tend to fall in and out of a desire to RP at times and may take a while at times, so apologies in advance. Also, I much prefer to RP on discord, if that's alright.
Looking for someone of similar literacy levels, so around a few paragraphs, no sample necessary. All I'm really looking for is someone who can get invested in the story, interested, and enjoys the plot and setting ideas. For the RP, I'm looking for something very long-term with a focus on character progression and where the character's actions changes the world around them on a very tangible sense (ex: Your character maybe becomes a vaunted and powerful leader after working their way up for a long time.) Additionally, I really love RPG mechanics. What exactly that includes depends on the plot, but regardless I'll be keeping track of it (ex: For fantasy, I'll keep track of inventory, level, spells, etcetera. For Sci-fi, you can upgrade your ship, acquire currency, and so on.)
As for the plot and setting, I have three main ones that I am wanting to do, which exactly of those three is up for us to discuss and ultimately you to decide. The three I'm most considering are: A Star Wars RP set in the post-Endor Imperial Civil War era of Star Wars Legends, about two decads after the Battle of Yavin, 23 ABY. This RP would center around the resurgence of a new, powerful Imperial faction in the Outer Rim out of the Braxant Sector, with Bastion as their capital, known as the Vermillion Imperium. Your character would either be an Imperial serving in their ranks, or as a member of the New Republic fighting against the growing threat; whether you're a force user or not is up to you. This RP would heavily focus on military, politics, and if you so choose, the force as well.
A sci-fi RP set in a universe I've been working on myself for quite some time. The long story short is that in the year 2299, Mars declared independence from the United Dominion of Terra, igniting a bloody, 37 year long civil war. In this war and beyond, combat is largely defined by mechs of varying types, the most common being machines known as Knights and the significantly more powerful, cutting edge Cataphracts. The RP will take place 6 years after the war, in 2342. Although the war is officially over, the Martian Liberatores still fight on, and the Dominion ruthlessly hunts them down throughout the Asteroid Belt using hunter-killer teams. Your character would start as a commander of one of these hunter-killer teams, but if you remain in service to the Dominion, rebel and join the largely defunct Mars Independence Junta, or consolidate political power and form your own faction altogether is up to you. Like the above RP, this setting would focus heavily on mech combat, military, and Politics. Also, because I've put a lot of writing and worldbuilding into this universe, this RP would need to be preceded by a discussion about the events of the world so you can really understand the plot you're getting into here. Hi! I'm looking for someone to RP in a story that I GM. I'm relatively literate by RPer standards, I think. It depends on the situation but I do between 2 and 5 paragraphs, more if I'm setting up a scene and less for dialog; not a fan of super long responses where it's just not at all necessary, no need to be doing like 4000 characters per reply. I can usually manage between 1 and 3 responses per day depending on how I’m feeling, but full warning, I tend to fall in and out of a desire to RP at times and may take a while at times, so apologies in advance. Also, I much prefer to RP on discord, if that's alright.
Looking for someone of similar literacy levels, so around a few paragraphs, no sample necessary. All I'm really looking for is someone who can get invested in the story, interested, and enjoys the plot and setting ideas. For the RP, I'm looking for something very long-term with a focus on character progression and where the character's actions changes the world around them on a very tangible sense (ex: Your character maybe becomes a vaunted and powerful leader after working their way up for a long time.) Additionally, I really love RPG mechanics. What exactly that includes depends on the plot, but regardless I'll be keeping track of it (ex: For fantasy, I'll keep track of inventory, level, spells, etcetera. For Sci-fi, you can upgrade your ship, acquire currency, and so on.)
As for the plot and setting, I have three main ones that I am wanting to do, which exactly of those three is up for us to discuss and ultimately you to decide. The three I'm most considering are: A Star Wars RP set in the post-Endor Imperial Civil War era of Star Wars Legends, about two decads after the Battle of Yavin, 23 ABY. This RP would center around the resurgence of a new, powerful Imperial faction in the Outer Rim out of the Braxant Sector, with Bastion as their capital, known as the Vermillion Imperium. Your character would either be an Imperial serving in their ranks, or as a member of the New Republic fighting against the growing threat; whether you're a force user or not is up to you. This RP would heavily focus on military, politics, and if you so choose, the force as well.
A sci-fi RP set in a universe I've been working on myself for quite some time. The long story short is that in the year 2299, Mars declared independence from the United Dominion of Terra, igniting a bloody, 37 year long civil war. In this war and beyond, combat is largely defined by mechs of varying types, the most common being machines known as Knights and the significantly more powerful, cutting edge Cataphracts. The RP will take place 6 years after the war, in 2342. Although the war is officially over, the Martian Liberatores still fight on, and the Dominion ruthlessly hunts them down throughout the Asteroid Belt using hunter-killer teams. Your character would start as a commander of one of these hunter-killer teams, but if you remain in service to the Dominion, rebel and join the largely defunct Mars Independence Junta, or consolidate political power and form your own faction altogether is up to you. Like the above RP, this setting would focus heavily on mech combat, military, and Politics. Also, because I've put a lot of writing and worldbuilding into this universe, this RP would need to be preceded by a discussion about the events of the world so you can really understand the plot you're getting into here. Alien x Superhero This is meant to be sort of Avenger-ish with aliens not being liked on Earth. I was thinking maybe your character is one of the heroes against the whole aliens being on the Earth. There’s a march being rumored to happen where aliens wanting to gain citizenship and demand the end of their races being killed. What your character doesn’t know is that his beloved girlfriend is an alien (my character). She’s a shapeshifter type that’s been sneaking out of the house lately for meetings concerning the march.
Rivals I have a few ideas for this one. One resolving around two college aged adults going to the same college, their parents are mafia rivals. Slowly they fall for each other before finding out who they really are, or even an arranged sort of marriage that ties both families together and ends the rivalry... just for a while.
Arranged Marriage: Looking for a more modern to almost futuristic kind of setting. Our characters being forced to marry each other due to a war ending or some other sort of treaty. I would be more than happy to also have some fantasy elements in this.
The Selection: Basically a slightly futuristic twist on the BacheloBachelorette. One prince or princess comes of age and must go through an event called The Selection where they must find love from a specific amount of contestants.
Royal Mistake: a prince from another country comes to America for school under a disguise and fake name, and falls for a regular American commoner.. It calls for big scandals if anyone finds out who the noble in disguise really is.
Fake Fiancée: Y/C and his fiancée have recently called things off. There’s only one real problem to this... He was supposed to bring her to meet the family at a huge family reunion/wedding/event of your choice. He resorts to calling M/C his college best friend or his best friend’s sister… we can discuss that a bit more.

This was possibly the most nerve wracking qualifying morning that Eliza had ever faced before. Media day and practices had already been quite overwhelming. Practices had gone alright, maybe not the best, but they certainly weren’t the worst. Yet Eliza knew she could do better. Maybe it was the nerves or how exhausted she’s been feeling lately, but she needed to shake it off. People were already starting to doubt her and question the team for her joining. She needed to prove herself in this qualifying session and the race.
But first was more time with the media. It was a long morning of getting herself all dolled up. She hadn’t shown up to the paddock wearing anything but something fashionable. She was treating her entrances like a runway, similar to Lewis Hamilton, but she tried to keep it within team colors always wearing something red or with the logo. I’ve been craving a good enemies to lovers roleplay for awhile now and what’s a better enemies to lovers roleplay than something revolving around the mafia?
Plot idea #1: Your character has recently taken over the family business. My character is a college student on a study abroad trip that happens to see something they weren’t supposed to. Y/C’s men that were handling the deal take her back to the main ‘headquarters’ and keep her locked up, leaving Y/C to deal with her.
Plot idea #2: Your character is in a small gang that is tasked with kidnapping the naive daughter of a mob boss that stole money from another. Basic idea, can be fleshed out more together.
Plot idea #3: your character would be a police officer that’s gone undercover with some small local gangs to bust a couple of drug dealers and whatnot. Having done such a great job there, he is offered a bigger mission and if he takes it, when he returns to his actual station, he will get a bigger raise, new car, K-9 unit, some sort of special thing that he’s been working towards. This bigger mission would be infiltrating a bigger mafia family that seems to be running all these smaller ones. Thanks to some forged documents, lies spread around, and some of the actual dirty work he has done over the last six months, the head of the family invites him to a nightclub to chat. The chat leads to the offering of a position within the family, a personal bodyguard for the mob bosses daughter after the situation that happened with her last one. It’s his first break through and they’re welcoming him with open arms. Does he accept?

I do the RE AQA exam board For the 12 markers i only used like 2 quotes for 1 paragraph and the other parapgraph i just explained using knowledge and common sense(i.e...from the teachings of jesus or the life of the prophet) i heard that apparently you can lose marks or even marked down for not including quotes in each paragraph
I read some sample answers and they didnt have that many quotes and got high marks yet some had load of quotes for each paragpraph, how cooked am i?????? will i drop marks......

First off, I would like to preface this by saying that this is the first time in my life that I would be making some sort of written review for a movie or a series so pardon me if I'm going to be all over the place.
I wasn't really planning on doing any sort of review or posted feedback before I watched the movie so I didn't really take notes and stuff so kindly correct me if I misinterpreted some of the details or missed some of the scenes. I decided to write this because of how disappointed I was in the movie as a manga reader.
Let's start first with the animations and the cinematics. I got nothing bad to say about this because it was great and it was reminiscent of the great animation quality of the first three seasons and I didn't find some of the animation complaints I had during the fourth season. The music/OST on certain scenes was great as well and the scene where the surroundings just turned silent due to Hinata sensing the "danger" emitting out of Kenma was awesome.
The first problem I had with the movie was the sub. It felt like some of lines were better translated and delivered in the manga than it was in the movie so seeing those scenes in the movie was a bit underwhelming compared to when it happened in the manga. I also hated that they didn't even bother to animate some of the best scenes in the match and what made the match so good. This is the part where i wish was taking notes so i remember the precise lines or scenes lmao. Although here are some lines that I remember off the top of my head and some of the scenes that they didn't even bother to animate which in my opinion are either very important or are just my favorites (lol)

1. "My disciples are there too" In the movie they made it singular and implied that Hinata was grandpa ukai's only disciple when in fact in the manga they indicated both kageyama and hinata. Granted he taught hinata so much more.
2. Grandpa ukai and nekomata-sensei backstory and flashback where??? Unless I totally missed that scene cause I was looking to much at my phone lmao.
3. "We're gonna eat you alive!!!" (Again correct me if I missed this)
4. Dedicate shift where?
5. Again idk if i'm just looking away but I didn't see the scene wherein the nohebi guy said that tsukki reminded him of kuroo or when kenma fooled hinata by the faint. Or tsukkis inner dialogue on kenma not liking him very much. Or when azumane said "It's about time I get one too".
6. What happened to inuoka? With his rivalry with hinata? Or his flashbacks with kai?
7. SKYBALL. Next nekoma setter where?
8. Akane "falling in love" with the speed of the quick? Alice and Akane interactions? Too little screen time.

Again I didn't take notes and these are the scenes that I remember at the top of my head so kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
Now let's move on to the game itself. This was the part where I was really disappointed because the game felt so rushed and so crammed to the point that there were times when I would just be shocked that they scored so much in so little time. I cited some samples in the previous part but I really have to emphasize the fact that it was so rushed to the point that it didn't really feel like a game.
I hated the first set so much. SO MUCH! Rather than a volleyball set, it felt like your watching highlights without any context whatsoever. So many dialogues skipped or just brushed over especially on that ending. They didn't animate or illustrate the moment when karasuno, who has never won a set against nekoma on any on their practice matches, had the rug pulled under them. They didn't show the initial conversation between tendo and goshiki in how tendo said that nekoma intentionally made it so that they caught up to karasuno just when karasuno was already thinking that they are going to win. It was the same the rest of the match. IT DIDN'T EVEN FEEL LIKE A MATCH. So much monologue, dialogues, flashbacks that was crucial to each and every member of the team was skipped. This didn't even feel like a match between 2 teams but a match between hinata and kenma. They forgot what made the nekoma match so great to begin with and just made the movie a 1 vs 1 rivalry. The rivalry between other players was just glossed over and they forgot the whole team rivalry. (I rushed this paragraph so I'm all over the place lmao, i was planning to expound for each set but i forgot a lot of the movie)
I also didn't like the last scene of the movie as much as others did. I preferred how they showed it in the manga where it showed the whole court and interchanging it between the practice scene and the real game as it slowly builds towards the the end. Instead they just to do it in kenmas perspective and all he did was look around the court as a flashback. Although this is more of a preference rather than acritique.
Anyway, to sum it up my biggest gripe with this movie was how they forced the kenma vs hinata rivalry and how they simply forgot all the rivalry and character development of the other members of the both teams. They didn't animate important scenes that showed the importance of each and every character in each teams (e. g. inuoka, kai, AZUMANE, YAKU (sadly can't enumerate all of them)) like damn. Even kuroo and tsukki got so little screen time. I really wished they just made it into a series but hey I understand. This was the better business decision for them.

2. lor and sop samples.
3. A tool that could help them short list the universities.
4. Interview experience of others.
5. Tutorial videos on variety of things, like, how to fill out the college application, how to approach the professors for assistantships/scholarships, and things as such.

I have already started working on it myself and have got the first feature work perfectly. The users can share the study materials with each other. My concern is, is this idea really applicable? It concerns me, because I have seen a lot of students who dont want to take any responsibility themselves, and strictly seek consultancy's advice. If this website becomes live someday with all the features that I have mentioned, will you, as a student accept it instead of going to consultancy? What do you think of this concept?
My other concern is, to implement 3rd feature (i.e to create a tool that could help the students short list the universities). It will require a lot of data. Those students who are already in the USA, how possible is it for them to give the data (no personal data). The data it requires is, what you studied in Nepal, what were your test scores, what universities you got accepted into, for what courses, and do you have any scholarship there? I am not doing this for any profit and if I create the website, its services will be free of use for all. If you are already in the USA I need your thoughts on this.

This story has been gaining some small online traction over the past couple of days, and Russell Edwards has been namedropped again by Keith Bennett’s brother, Alan Bennett, on social media. I want people to be in no doubt about what Edwards did back in 2022, and I want to make sure that the following ranks near the top of Google searches too so that people can easily find information that discredits this complete and utter charlatan.

Who is Russell Edwards?

Edwards is a self-proclaimed “amateur detective”, who has for many years invested a lot of his own time and money in trying to get to the bottom of numerous infamous unsolved cases. He has claimed to have identified Jack the Ripper as a Polish barber named Aaron Kosminski, and wrote a book about his “findings” called “Naming Jack the Ripper” - which have since been called into question along with the credibility of both Edwards and the forensic scientist he collaborated with in regards to both Jack the Ripper and the Moors Murders, Jari Louhelainen.
Edwards also runs a Jack the Ripper guided walking tour in London. I won’t link to it because a) I don’t want to drive up clicks to it and b) the website contains a lot of misinformation as well as graphic autopsy images of Ripper victims without warning. I initially thought he had stopped doing these, but the most recent review listed on there was from January of this year.
He claimed to have started looking into Keith Bennett’s disappearance in 2015, but had been interested in the case since around the time the remains of another Moors Murders victim, Pauline Reade, were discovered in 1987.

The known facts of Keith Bennett’s disappearance and murder

Keith was walking to his grandmother’s house on the evening of 16th June 1964 when he was abducted by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. According to their accounts, he was driven up to Saddleworth Moor and endured sexual assault before he was strangled to death and buried in a shallow grave. There is a detailed and extensive write-up on Brady’s and Hindley’s conflicting accounts linked here. Tragically, to this day Keith Bennett remains the only one of the couple’s victims whose remains were never recovered.
I would strongly encourage everybody to read these FAQs around the search for Keith too. I wrote these up a while ago, and Alan himself has been kind enough to contribute to them as well after the fact.

The 2022 “findings”

First off, here’s where exactly Edwards made his “discovery” in relation to where the other bodies were found. I should state that this area consists of plenty of gullies and peat soil. If you click on the 2022 Search on Saddleworth Moor flair, you‘ll see everything we discussed in this subreddit as the search was being carried out. But I will recap what happened anyway.
In a statement published on 30th September 2022, GMP Force Review Officer Martin Bottomley said:
“At around 11.25am on Thursday 29th September 2022, Greater Manchester Police was contacted by the representative of an author who has been researching the murder of Keith Bennett, a victim of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Following direct contact with the author, we were informed that he had discovered what he believes are potential human remains in a remote location on the Moors and he agreed to meet with officers yesterday afternoon to elaborate on his find and direct us to a site of interest.
“The site was assessed late last night and, this morning, specialist officers have begun initial exploration activity. We are in the very early stages of assessing the information which has been brought to our attention but have made the decision to act on it in line with a normal response to a report of this kind.”
It was first reported in the Daily Mail that a “skull” had been found, although the same article then went on to say that “detectives are preparing to exhume a particular area where suspected skeletal remains have been found including what experts believe to be a child’s upper jaw with a full set of teeth”. It was also reported that a small piece of blue and white striped material, and potential samples of body tissue (although this was later discredited as a probable mixture of vegetation and muddy water), had been found.
Edwards had claimed he and his team had conducted extensive soil analysis of the area, which they had discovered 4 weeks before. There were high levels of calcium, which can indicate the presence of human remains (but the team did not mention that it also indicates the presence of limestone or another high calcium natural material). Describing the dig, he said “the smell hit me about 2ft down. Like a sewer, like ammonia. I worked as a gravedigger when I was 19. It hits you, that smell of death. It is distinctive.”
Alan Bennett later stated that the smell was probably methane - of which there are pockets containing it across the moor. Edwards also falsely stated that everything was left in situ - more on that in the paragraph after the next one.
On Saturday 1st October, Greater Manchester Police issued a statement saying that “no identifiable human remains have been found” - despite what several tabloid and local newspapers had been reporting. It was confirmed that drones were being used in the search on the 2nd October, and a statement issued by GMP later that day confirmed that excavation of the site will continue for the foreseeable future.
Edwards and members of his team started posting on Facebook and declaring that Keith Bennett had already been found. On 2nd October, Jari Louhelainen, a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology at Liverpool John Moores University and a member of Edwards’ team, posted a photo of himself analysing what he suspected was a “bunch of hair” from the dig site. He later confirmed in the comments of his post (after being called out for posting it in the first place) that it was a “look-a-like plant material”.
On 4th October, Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes, of GMP’s Force Review Unit, said: “Forensic Archaeologists and Forensic Anthropologists have now completed a methodical archaeological excavation and examination of the area previously dug and refilled by the member of the public. No bones, fabric or items of interest were recovered from the soil.
“These accredited and certified forensic experts are now continuing with a methodical and controlled excavation of the area immediately surrounding the original site to provide a higher level of assurance of the presence or absence of any items of interest. Further soil samples have been taken for analysis, but at this time there is no visible evidence to suggest the presence of human remains. The scene examination is ongoing.
“A report of possible human remains is always treated with seriousness. As such, we have deployed police search advisors who can support our scenes of crimes officers – this will result in more visible and high profile tactics, such as officers walking in lines to identify any potential sites of focus.
“GMP is committed to providing Keith’s family with answers following this report, both from the physical excavation and subsequent analysis of samples. This will take some time but we will keep the family updated at every stage and request that their privacy is respected.
“We have seen the outpouring of support since this news broke so know how our communities feel about this case but we are asking members of the public not to travel to the area and can assure them that we will provide timely and appropriate updates.”
At 2pm on 7th October 2022, Greater Manchester Police announced that they had closed the scene on Saddleworth Moor after finding no evidence to indicate the presence of human remains. “At this time, there is no evidence of the presence of human remains.”
Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jackson, portfolio holder for crime, said: “We have always said that we would respond, in a timely and appropriate manner, to any credible information which may lead us towards finding Keith. Our actions in the last week or so are a highly visible example of what that response looks like, with the force utilising the knowledge and skills of accredited experts, specialist officers and staff. It is these accredited experts and specialists who have brought us to a position from where we can say that, despite a thorough search of the scene and ongoing analysis of samples taken both by ourselves and a third party, there is currently no evidence of the presence of human remains at, or surrounding, the identified site on Saddleworth Moor. However, I want to make it clear that our investigation to find answers for Keith’s family is not over.
“We understand how our communities in Greater Manchester feel about this case, the renewed interest in it and the shared desire to find Keith. Much of Saddleworth Moor is private land so we would ask that members of the public, in the first instance, report any perceived intelligence to their local police service. The discovery of suspected human remains must be reported immediately to enable the use of specialist resources to investigate appropriately.”
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Hughes said: “The investigation into Keith’s disappearance and murder has remained open since 1964 and it will not be closed until we have found the answers his family have deserved for so many years. We are thankful for their continued support of our ongoing enquiries. This has been a distressing time for them and we ask that their privacy is respected.
“We understand the confusion which may have been caused to Keith’s family and communities across Greater Manchester by reports to the contrary. We hope that by giving this detailed update today, we provide reassurance that GMP are committed to finding accurate answers for Keith’s family.
“In response to the report made on Thursday 29 September 2022, officers met with the member of the public who later provided us with samples and copies of the photographs he had taken. He also took officers to the location from which he had obtained these and provided grid references.
“In the days since, independent accredited forensic archaeologists and certified forensic anthropologists, together with GMP’s Crime Scene Investigators, have completed a methodical forensic archaeological excavation and examination of the identified area and beyond. An accredited forensic geologist also took a number of soil samples – analysis of which is ongoing.
“The items given to us by the member of the public have been examined by a forensic scientist and though this hasn’t yet indicated the presence of human remains – more analysis is required. With regards to the photograph, we have sought the assistance of a forensic botanist. We are now utilising the knowledge and skills of a forensic image expert to put a standard anthropological measurement to the object to assist with identification. At this stage, the indications are that it would be considerably smaller than a juvenile jaw and it cannot be ruled out that it is plant-based.
“The excavation and examination at the site is complete and, to reiterate, we have found no evidence that this is the burial location of Keith Bennett.”

Aftermath

It was discovered that two of Edwards’ team members, Lesley Dunlop (a geologist) and Dawn Keen (a forensic archaeologist) were not accredited professionals in their respective fields. Alan Bennett clarified in a Facebook post on 5th November 2022, in reference to Keen:
“Any professional archaeologist would ask for a scale in any pictures or video taken at a scene [in reference to the fact that police confirmed the object found was too small to be a juvenile jaw], that was not the case here and the reason police had to call in a photographic specialist to determine the scale of the supposed jawbone..which turns out to be too small for a child from what I've been told so far and, of course couldn't be found anyway and could only have been vegetation if anything at all.”
I am not entirely sure what the “blue and white striped fabric” turned out to be - I assume that nothing was found.
Alan has since posted evidence that Russell Edwards had been planning the “discovery of Keith’s remains” as part of a stunt to promote his upcoming book on the case - a book that Edwards has been radio-silent about since all of this controversy.
Edwards has refused to apologise to Keith’s family and despite being proven wrong, and him and his team being called out for the charlatans they are (with even him admitting that his own reputation is in tatters), as of December 2022 he stood by his actions and his claims that he believed he had found Keith’s body.
To my own understanding (though I do not speak on behalf of Alan Bennett or on behalf of anybody who was involved in this whole debacle, let me be clear), there has been complete radio-silence on news of Edwards’ book since this date.

She Done Already Done Had Herses!
Welcome to the NINTH (already) edition of Apple NF Monoxide - a surprisingly important one. If I manage to get into the next edition, I am preparing both for, well, edition 69 and for my potential 10th NF, meaning this has to be a special one. For that reason, I have meticulously analysed all songs ever sent to RSC and chose 6 songs that could potentially have won every edition so far. If you thought Aerobika was great, wait until you hear these!
Important note: Apple Monoxide is joking in the above paragraph. This is a bog standard Apple NF stacked with memes. He still isn't attempting to qualify, and is actually hoping to match his previously existing NQ streak at some point in 2027. I just had way too many songs I wanted to send this edition and I have at least two more NFs in the oven, so I had to slowly get rid of some. I hope you understand :)
 
My theme for this NF was choosing between three styles of songs: songs I have nostalgia for, obscure musical discoveries I ran into on Spotify and unorthodox remixes of existing songs. All three styles were actually 'shaping up' to be NF ideas of their own, but I decided there's no way in hell I actually find both enough songs for all of these and enough motivation to host all of these, so I chose two favourites from each and made this NF. I hope you enjoy. You won't, but I hope you do!
