2024.05.17 05:48 sh3rkb1te Possibly one of the worst commencement speeches of all time is going viral... my thoughts.

*I'm not so sure if this is necessarily for this channel, but since there is a political piece to it, I'm going to share it here*
A short five days ago, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was asked to give a speech to the graduates of Benedictine College. Most of these students likely never got a high school graduation because of COVID, so this was obviously a monumental moment for these young adults' lives. All the hard work and all the perseverance through difficult and uncertain times led to that graduation ceremony. Instead of that day being remembered for the students walking across the stage receiving their hard-earned degrees while the families cheer with high emotions reflecting on the journey to this moment, their ceremony will be remembered for the message that an NFL player sent to these graduates which, in my opinion, was inappropriate, lacked decorum, and made a lot of people's blood boil.
I will preface the rest of this text by saying that I do not condone religious slander and am a firm believer that every religion deserves respect.
Harrison discussed things in his speech that you should never be brought up when addressing college graduates in a formal setting like that, and it doesn't take a wise person to know this. Here are just a couple of talking points that simply had me scratching my head wondering if I was listening to a graduation speech or a Talking Point USA video on YouTube:
  1. For the female graduates, you are being fed nothing but sinister lies about womanhood and how you should live your life. Having your own aspirations and career goals and finally being a step closer to achieving them is not what you should be most excited about. You should be more excited about dedicating your lives to being a mother to your future children, and a wife to your future husband!
Harrison, I'm not sure if you are aware but your target audience is mostly between the ages of 21 and 23. Also, people don't go to college and take on thousands in student debt because they just wanna marry and have a family; that's just not how that shit works. There are no degrees for homemaking. It seems slightly misogynistic to me that you think women live the most fulfilling lives when they center their entire adult lives around being a "servant" to their husbands and children. I really don't understand why husbands wouldn't want their wives to focus on following their dreams and becoming super successful.
  1. The POTUS claims he's a proud Catholic but his delusional "woke" ideologies suggest otherwise.
I'm sorry, I didn't realize advocating for the minorities, the poor, and the voiceless was an anti-Catholic thing to do. I get it, Biden is far from perfect and has done plenty of questionable things. He is allowed to have his beliefs and you are allowed to have yours, and that applies to everyone. For you to question his faith because his beliefs don't fall exactly in line with yours is disrespectful. For you to bring all of this up at a college graduation while spreading misinformation is also unprofessional. The NFL blesses you with millions of dollars and you choose to represent them in this manner?
  1. "Congress just passed a bill where stating something as basic as the biblical teaching of who killed Jesus could land you in jail."
What? What the hell are you talking about? Do you think others think religion is hate speech? Listen, I know that some folks don't like that the LGBTQ+ community is trying to be fairly represented and viewed as actual human beings, but that doesn't mean that they're trying to take your religion away from you. The First Amendment still exists and it's not going anywhere soon. Please do not delude yourself into thinking that your religious beliefs can get you prosecuted; believe it or not, Christianity and Catholicism still are (and have been) the most popular religions in the U.S. for a long time.
Christianity and Catholicism have most certainly faced scrutiny in the past few years. It's not necessarily the religion itself that has caused it, it's more so the followers and preachers of God's word who have faced heavy backlash; Harrison is the most recent example. Again, it is totally okay for someone to believe in any religion. It doesn't make you a bad person. Where it crosses the line is when you attempt to demean, harass, and dehumanize or even force your beliefs onto others who do not believe what you believe. We have seen this with Congress, with state representatives, with Democrats and Republicans, with those who simply don't have the human decency to respect their differences.
There is so much political divide in large part due to the divisiveness of the two-party system. You're either on one side or the other at this point. The reality is this: change is scary. We can either move forward towards a better and stronger America or we can get stuck in the past with what doesn't make us great. Harrison's speech reminded me of how easy it is to disrespect someone's point of view when it doesn't align with your own. I think my assessment of his talk might have been a little unfair in that regard. For those of you who made it to the end, regardless of your political beliefs, let's accept the fact that we have differing opinions. I may question certain beliefs and ideologies, but at the end of the day, I do respect that you believe in what you want to believe in. Please do not let your opinions cause physical or mental harm to another person. For those of you who plan on giving a speech at a college graduation ceremony, please leave politics out of your speech. Graduation is a highly emotional time in a college student's life. This is a time for reflection, for family, for pride, and for optimism, not for political opinions and fearmongering.
TL;DR: politics and personal opinions on matters unrelated to college do not belong in a college graduation speech. Harrison Butker did not get this memo and has gone viral for his remarks during his speech at Benedictine College. We all tend to get defensive of our beliefs and I am no exception to this.

Second term to trade deal: Is the bilateral migration agreement what it sounds like?
  1. I can extend those rights to the Wehzeks currently living in Zille. But to every citizen in Wehlen?

  3. Yes, their religious fanaticism makes them even more dangerous.

  5. Or what?
  6. I am all for proactivity. If we don't nip terrorism in the bud now, we will pay a steep price later.
  7. I see. A small contribution towards the greater fight against terrorism. (only appears if you have enough ships)
  8. Not everything, what’s this about a three-year timeline?
  9. Do not doubt my kingdom's ability to deliver on its promises.

  • Promise aid against BFF

Lespia got bamboozled so much they're pissed off at Rizia but can't do anything about it since they're in ATO. Talk about Intermerkorpum. When Axel brings up Rizia taking care of Pales, tell him to accept Centralization politely. Axel accepts the terms and Pales rejoins Rizia!
[4] Fate of the Prisoners: DO not execute anyone!
[5] Final Speech: Announce your speech to the people. Rizia is now a regional powerhouse rivaling Lespia and Valgsland. The constitutional monarchy remains with the support of the nobility and people. The best place to live in Merkorpa. Say all the achievements you made in your reign.

2024.05.17 02:11 7dear The MOTHER of all wedding drama!

(This was originally posted in Wedding Shaming)
Strap in y’all, it’s a long one and it’s full of bad. Have some kitten videos ready for after!
So let me preface this by saying I am estranged from my mother and have been for most of my life. She is a paranoid narcissist, a racist, a homophobe, a xenophobe, and just all around terrible person. She abused me growing up so I cut loose in high school, got emancipated and got on with my life. For years I had a happy queer relationship with another woman and we had a son together (I carried with a sperm donor). When my kid was 5 his other mom died and I was alone for 5 years before I met someone. A year later, that someone and I got married. Previous to said wedding my husband’s parents felt it would be important to meet my parents. My father died when I was 19 so that left my mother and her husband. I struggled over the decision to try and reconnect with my mom, knowing how bad this can get for me in these situations (I suffer severe ptsd from the abuse trauma).. but it was a wedding and everyone kept telling me it “was important to have family together.” So fine, let’s do this.
The problems started fast and furious. My mom came to our coast (we live on opposite coasts) to meet my fiancé and my son. Right away she was pulling my husband to the corner to tell him all the “dirt” she could on me, or conversely, telling him he better get me nice cars and plastic surgery. Then she stated calling all of her friends and putting my fiancé on the phone to “prove to them that her daughter was marrying a doctor” (even if he is a goy (a Yiddish term for non-Jew. Has slightly derogatory tones).
Cut to lunch and my mother is asking how many tables she “gets” at the wedding. I ask “huh?” She explains she needs a least 5 tables at 10 per table for HER guests. I was really confused. I explained that our whole wedding venue seated 50 people total and those seats were spoken for. I had invited several people my mother asked me to have already. She went absolutely bananas demanding we change venue (we’re now 6 weeks from the wedding) to accommodate HER GUESTS. I painfully explained we can’t do that.. it’s not possible.. just no. She then switches gears like she always does and asks about our honeymoon. We were heading to Mexico for 2 weeks and my son would be staying with his donomyBFF. My mom screamed “what??? He needs to be with HIS FAMILY.” I reminded her that he was staying with family. She demanded time with my son so I half heartedly said she could have him half the time. (This will come back to haunt me later.)
Day of the wedding. Did I mention my mom is a low key alkie? So it’s about 2pm and she’s in the bridal suite in the bathroom. I’m in the dress and the photographer is waiting for my mother to come and use an antique button-holer to button up my gown. I’m nervous and excited and emotional because I’m in the dress and this is my day. This is one of the photos we had pre-planned to take. I asked my mother if she would do the honors. Instead, my mother is in the bathroom half dressed with her fireball and ice screaming into the phone at her husband “you are so stupid, how can you not find it!? I put it on the damn dresser! I can’t f**ing believe I married you…” you get the picture. It’s so loud the guests in the living room can hear it. I finally give up and have my son do the buttonholing for me (the pics were so special). Thank goodness it wasn’t video because you would have her my mother screaming “Can anyone get me another drink?? Does this room even have room service??”
Cut to walking down the aisle. We do the ceremony, it’s perfect, and my delightful friend and officiant announces “Introducing Mr. & Mrs Jon— when suddenly my mom stands up and screams “It’s DOCTOR not MISTER, get it right!”
Now I knew we had a problem on our hands ahead of the big day so I put in some contingency plans in place to buffer her. My wedding planner was under strict instructions to not allow my mother to make a speech (she loves to humiliate me by saying personal things about me to anyone who will listen and then she loves to announce what a terrible daughter I am and how much of a disappointment to her.) Second plan was my SIL faking a heart attack if she got her hands on the mic. About half thru dinner my delightful planner comes to me crying saying she’s so sorry but my mom is demanding to make a speech. That’s right, this tiny demon of a woman made my wedding planner CRY. Right then she stood up (have no idea how she got the mic) and said, “So my daughter didn’t want me to say anything. I guess she gets embarrassed, but I’m her MOTHER, and I get to say whatever I want. I’m here to say that I always knew she was going to marry a doctor, it didn’t surprise me at all. What did surprise me is when I gave birth to her and the nurses told me she was a girl, but I didn’t believe them so I had to take her diaper off and spread her legs and look at her vagina to make sure she was a girl.” She illustrated this by spreading her two fingers open. You could here jaws dropping around the room. She then went on to say “how disappointed she was in me that I don’t see her more often and that she hopes now that I have a doctor husband I’ll be able to see her more frequently”. Sadly my SIL was in the loo and plan 2 failed.
Cut to the dancing. I am dancing with my husband and my friends. We’re all having a good time when somebody comes up to me and taps me on the shoulder and says “hey, I don’t wanna cause a scene or anything but you might want to look at your mom”. I look over at my mother and she has taken off the jacket to her dress and now she’s peeling off the shoulder straps one by one and waving her head around to the music saying “oh my goodness it’s getting so hot in here!” This b*tch was trying to take her clothes off on the dance floor. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier that she had a three drink maximum, but she was getting around this by asking other people to get drinks for her.
The next morning I of course got to hear alllllll the embarrassing stories from the night before. She asked why my friend married “an Arab,” called another guest “not Jewish enough to attend the wedding” and complained to anyone who would listen that I didn’t even allow her 50 guests, and the party would have been so much more fun if she had done it.
And the pièce derésistance? Right as we were leaving for our honeymoon I got a call from her saying “I know you need ME to watch YOUR kid, but not unless you do something for me. You’ll need to call your brother and make nice with him again.” My brother and I are estranged for reasons I can’t get into now. I said no, he’ll go to his real family, the one that cares for him without strings attached.
There you have it! One cluster fluff of a mother story!
For anyone interested, we don’t talk anymore and I couldn’t be happier and I’m still happily married! Good riddance to bad rubbish!
Ok, just a few clarifications for people asking Q’s-
In answer to the question about my in laws- My in laws are the sweetest, kindest people ever. I honestly think they had no idea a human adult could behave like that. I wanted to please them and I didn’t say a whole lot about my mother. I didn’t want them to see her as a red flag for the marriage. They never mentioned her again 😂 which was their way of acknowledging she’s not worth talking about.
For those of you judging me for half heartedly agreeing to let my kid visit my mom-totally get your stress! Don’t worry, she never had contact with my kid alone. For clarity, he was going to spend four days with a safe family where my mother happened to be staying as well. By the end of the weekend it was clear that even that was too close.
For those of you wondering why I would even let her come to the wedding - Some people (like me) relent and reopen because our abusers did a very good job of breaking us and making us question everything we think and believe. So every time some well meaning idiot Said “Aw, you should take to your mom! She’s your mom!” We think “Omg, my mom is right. I’m the worst f**king daughter ever and I’ve been ignoring her all these years and there must be something so wrong with me that I did that.”
Now, after YEARS of therapy and support I know better. Back then I was still pretty deep in my trauma.

2024.05.16 22:51 HRJafael Saturday (May 18, 2024) event remembers Great Falls Massacre, marks 20th anniversary of reconciliation ceremony

https://archive.is/ma8qz
The 348th anniversary of the Great Falls Massacre will be marked with a Day of Remembrance event on Saturday, as well as a commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the reconciliation ceremony held to establish friendship and trust between once-warring cultures.
The event, set for 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Great Falls Discovery Center, will feature tribal elder Liz ColdWind Santana Kiser and Roger Longtoe Sheehan, chief of the Elnu Abenaki Tribe, as honored guests.
“It’s kind of a like a celebration of life,” said David Brule, president of the Nolumbeka Project, the nonprofit putting on the event. It will take place on the lawn behind the Discovery Center, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to the building’s Great Hall. It is free to attend and there will be light refreshments.
Brule said the event is held as close as possible to May 19, the actual anniversary of the event also known as the Great Falls Massacre. Santana Kiser is the tribal historic preservation officer for the Chaubunagungamaug band of the Nipmuck people. She is also a member of the Battlefield Grant Advisory Committee, as is Sheehan. Santana Kiser’s and Sheehan’s ancestors were affected by the massacre.
Santana Kiser, who lives in Worcester, said she intends to deliver a remembrance speech and touch on the lives lost in the attack.
“I want to talk a little bit about why we’re here,” Santana Kiser said.
She also wants to stress the Connecticut River’s importance and the responsibility of all to prevent atrocities.
“This is a part of history that has been hidden for a very long time,” she said.
Sheehan, a singer living in Westminster, Vermont, said he plans to perform a few songs at the event and will be available to chat and answer questions. He said he has attended the Day of Remembrance several times and describes the occasion as somewhat sad but important. He mentioned the event is attended by people of various backgrounds wanting to learn more about what happened on May 19, 1676.
The yearly Day of Remembrance is, in some ways, a continuation of the reconciliation ceremony held in 2004, when the town of Montague and members of the Narragansett tribe formally recognized the 1676 conflict. Brule explained that on May 18, 1676, Capts. William Turner and Elizur Holyoke left Hatfield with 150 mounted infantrymen and arrived in Greenfield, near where Factory Hollow Road is now. All the men dismounted their horses, crossed the river and waited until dawn on May 19 before launching a surprise raid on an Indigenous camp consisting of non-combatant women, children and elderly people.
“[Colonists] just began firing into wigwams and chased many of the people into the river, and they were swept over the falls and drowned,” Brule said.
He said the particularly striking aspect is that the raiders did not attack camps filled with soldiers of allied Indigenous nations. It is estimated that 250 to 300 Indigenous people died in the assault.
Brule mentioned many of the colonists were inadequately trained “farm boys” put at a disadvantage by their superiors. He explained many lingered too long in the enemy camp, creating enough time for a counterattack from the Indigenous coalition made up of Nipmuck, Abenaki, Wampanoag, Narragansett and other tribes. The counterattack spanned from the site of the raid to Deerfield.
“It was a running battle of 7 miles,” Brule said. He also said the colonists were unfamiliar with the terrain, and the more experienced Indigenous fighters lay in wait and launched ambushes along the retreat, killing 48 to 50 colonists, including Turner.
Brule said the initial raid occurred just months before the end of King Philip’s War, which concluded by August. He said the raid was likely revenge for Indigenous people stealing cattle from Hatfield. Still, Brule stressed that he always tells white people they should not feel guilt over what has happened to Native peoples in the past.
“It is not for us any longer a day of mourning,” he said, adding that the tide of history has changed. “And Native people are ... feeling that they can step forward and be understood as part of a fabric of the communities. But they have, for a long time, stayed under the radar, really. And times have changed.”

2024.05.16 22:44 ttango618 “Videography” without the highlight reel?

I was initially only planning on having a photographer but now the idea of having some moments captured on video is really appealing to me. But, the usual videographer highlight reels are not what I'm looking for - the quality of the footage is great and all but I just want to be able to capture raw moments from the day at a reasonable cost.
  1. I've thought about QR codes for google drive links and various photo apps but I'm worried people are not going to use them/take videos (seeing as how so many of our guests can barely respond to an rsvp question about a song they like, I'm doubtful about them interacting with other elements at the reception). Have people gone this route? Did you get the photos/videos you were hoping for?
  2. Did any of you enlist specific friends/family to help capture moments? How did you go about doing it? I think I could reasonably have someone press record during the ceremony but I'm also thinking about first dance, speeches, etc. I don't want to burden anyone/a handful of people with this task but also don't want them to forget to capture a moment.
  3. Are there "content creators" who just take photos and videos but offer pricing where they don't create all the social media content?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 19:41 lemon_lime_light "From Caregivers to Social Reformers" (U of MN's complicity in a "grievous misdirection" of physicians' skills)

From Quillette:
A quiet revolution in the practice of medicine in North America has taken place within the last decade. Professional associations, medical schools, and an increasing number of physicians no longer consider the primary duty of the physician to be care of the individual patient, but rather social reform...
Individual behaviour and an individual’s genetic inheritance are significant causes of diseases and disorders...Yet, the American Medical Association (AMA), the largest professional association of physicians in the United States, in its strategic plan for racial justice and health equity, exhorts physicians to turn their attention away from genetics and individual behaviour and instead move upstream to address the “root causes” of social inequities, which (the AMA hypothesises) are the underlying causes of poor health. And what are these root causes? The AMA’s list reads like a first-year college student’s rote recitation of DEI jargon: “white supremacy, racism, classism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, and xenophobia"...
This represents a sea change in the responsibilities of physicians, from a focus on the conditions and needs of individual patients to being agents of radical social reform...
The AMA’s goal of turning physicians into social reformers is now faithfully reflected in the oath taken by some incoming medical students during “white coat” ceremonies. For example, at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Medical School, students have pledged to uproot the “structural violence” that allegedly results from “white supremacy, colonialism, the gender binary, ableism, and all forms of oppression.” Contrast this pledge with the traditional Hippocratic Oath or its updated versions, which emphasise the physician’s commitment to the individual patient...
Transforming physicians into social reformers, and directing them to avoid a focus on individuals, results in a grievous misdirection of their skills. Focusing on perceived social ills diverts physicians’ attention from the immediate and remediable causes of the problems confronting individual patients.
The U of MN white coat ceremony in question occurred in 2022. FIRE, a nonprofit civil liberties group, raised concerns over free speech and the university "affirmed that the oath was not required and that students are free to reject it".
Does anyone know the oath in current use for the U of MN's white coat ceremony?

2024.05.16 16:28 P_0_VV Camping in Skeleton Park

Part 1

The official story is that I hit my head. According to the lawyer I wasn't lucid enough to be a reliable witness, and honestly, I'm starting to believe that might be the truth. It's certainly easier to accept that everything was all just some nightmare.
But if my mind wasn't playing tricks on me, and those fuck-heads didn’t have anything to do with my friend’s disappearance, then there truly is no explanation for what happened.
My therapist and parents both agree. The best way to preserve my sanity is to chalk it all up to my imagination. But I see understanding in their eyes when I recount the events. They want to believe me, I know it. That alone is enough to fuel my doubt.

School had begun that September with mourning. I only knew the guy who passed away by face and name. It had happened a month after his graduation, and two months before his first year at Cornell.
During the intercom-ordered moment of silence, I looked out through the classroom. Some were bored, some cried. Many shifted in their seats and were glancing around, like myself, counting every second till the awkwardness would end.
It ended sooner than we thought when a kid with sports goggles a size too big bouncing on his face slammed the door open, obliviously clarifying his attendance.
I'm embarrassed to say that this kid, Aiden, was the only friend I had made in high school until this point. I have a hard time introducing myself to others, but being friends with a prepubescent outcast wasn't making that any easier.
After middle school, my family moved to the small village we live in now. It was a brainless choice because my Mom had found better work, my Dad wanted to be closer to his aging parents, and I desperately wanted out of my old school.
Aiden was the first kid to introduce himself when I transferred last year. I realized he was the token 'weird kid' way too late to make it into any social circles. I know it sounds like I'm a shit friend, but that's the way our relationship turned out. Sure, we told our parents and teachers we were friends, but in reality, it was more a tolerance than friendship.
After all, we didn't have anyone else.
For once, I was thankful for Aiden's lack of awareness. It gave me something to focus on instead of the depressing silence strangling the room.
After realizing his mistake, he whispered an apology, sat down, and pulled out an insect encyclopedia from his book bag. What a nerd.
I distracted myself by reading the book from over his shoulder, and before I knew it, lights were turned back on and class began in earnest.

I was able to learn what had happened by eavesdropping on hallway gossip between my classes.
Eight kids, six seniors and two juniors, had found a cave in a region of forest known as Skeleton Park. With that discovery, they decided to add spelunking to their pre-graduation bucket list.
Skeleton Park is the setting of countless local ghost stories, which made it a hot spot for rebellious teen antics. Kids would do everything there: party, drink, smoke, fuck, and everything in between. They even crawled around in caves apparently.
When I first moved, I was a skeptic with no intent of exploring the woods. But one creepy phenomenon always unnerved me. For some reason, animals completely avoided the area.
I initially dismissed this as fiction, like all the other folk tales, until I started walking my dog, Paddy, along the town's bike trail.
The trail runs parallel to the remains of a stone wall outlining Skeleton Park. The first couple of times I walked along it, I didn't notice anything peculiar. But after my Dad first told me about the rumors, I became aware that the area was unnaturally silent. No birds chirped in the trees, no flies buzzing, and no rustling from rodents or any other animals.
Even more surreal, on several occasions I saw deer stop at the wall and walk along it instead of passing through the area. It was like there was an invisible border they refused to cross.
With this context, I'm sure you can understand the reaction of the locals when eight kids entered, and only seven escaped two days later, traumatized and bruised.
Honestly, I was surprised to not have heard about the event over the summer, closer to when it happened. Even more strange though, was how unwilling Aiden was to talk about the incident.
He was the kind of kid who had a strong opinion about everything. On top of that, he was constantly bringing up horror movies, or Creepypastas he had found online. But when I asked his opinion on this summer's events during recess, he only shrugged. Despite the nonchalant response, the look on his face told me that it bothered him. So I didn’t press, and let the subject go.
At the time I'd guessed that he might've had some connection to the kid that went missing. In a way, he did.

After an exhausting day of attempts from teachers to console their students with speeches, candy, and exceptional lenience, I was ready to go home.
I expected to find Aidan at the usual spot by the bike racks, where we met each day to walk home. Instead, there was an audience next to the bikes, forming a ring around two disheveled figures.
The flying fists and shouting could only mean one thing, so I kept my distance. Then I heard Aidan yell center, “Fucker!’ and saw a glimpse of his face spitting from a bloody mouth onto the other fighter.
Even though his back was to me, I could tell Aidan’s opponent was easily 5 inches, and 60 pounds heavier than my friend.
Teachers didn’t arrive to break up the fight before the two were on the ground, Aidan mounted with arms up, desperately trying to block blows.
A whistle was blown, and people began running away as my math teacher desperately tried to pry the football player off of Aidan.
He fought back the grown man and was finally pulled away when two more adults rushed to help. The boy was screaming at Aiden with carnal rage.
"You're a fucking liar! How dare you, I'm going to fucking kill you if I ever see you again!"
Aidan was still screaming too, but backed away willingly.
"I'm telling the truth dumbass! You were trespassing! You should be lucky we didn't press charges!"
Aiden looked bad but waved the teachers off whenever they asked if he was OK. Blood poured from his forehead, mouth, and nose. He had at least one black eye.
The other guy, I learned from the crowd, was one of the two juniors who had gone to the cave. He didn't have as many cuts or bruises but was supporting his weight on one leg and his friend's shoulder. Multiple teachers forced him into a chair while they waited for a nurse to arrive.
While the crowd control was distracted, Aiden sneaked over to me and whispered that we needed to get out of there. A couple of minutes later, the two of us were walking home like nothing had ever happened.
It took me a while before I dared to ask Aiden for the full story. He didn't even let me finish my question, which let me know he was more or less his usual self.
"My family inherited the property everyone calls Skeleton Park. It's not haunted, it's not toxic, it's not the home of a satanic sex cult; it's just a piece of forest that's been in my family for a couple of generations."
He spat a dribble of red onto the sidewalk, and I realized I'd never seen Aiden get violent before. We had our share of bullying this past year, but he would always shrug it off and laugh. He wouldn't even try to fight back. We would just get pushed around a bit, and he'd make a quip afterward about the guys' weight or smell.
"Every summer, my dad and I drive around the perimeter putting up trespassing signs, and every year they get ripped down. We get police calls once a month during the summer that somebody came limping out of there with a broken arm or leg, and they have the balls to demand we do something about it. It's not our fault nobody follows the law around here. It's the fucking woods, and it's our private property. What the hell are we even supposed to do?"
To be honest, I hadn't even considered Skeleton Park could've been private property. Though I believed everything Aiden said, I had never seen any signs along the border wall. Embarrassed from being one of those trespassers, I looked away and stayed silent as Aiden continued.
"The area is just too big. There are too many places to enter, and there's no way to block it all off. Though it's not like that'll stop anybody. I feel bad that somebody died, but I'm also a little bit thankful. Maybe now, people will think twice before messing around out there."
We walked in silence until reaching the junction where we would have to part ways. I was tired and wanted to head home, but I also was worried that Aiden would be jumped by some of the seniors if he was alone. It had happened before, and his earlier brawl could've been seen as a declaration of war.
Instead of voicing these concerns, however, I asked if he wanted to play video games at his house. He was surprised by the request but agreed.
I was on edge with every passing car, and every blind turn, but thankfully we weren’t attacked. After a couple more minutes of walking, we made it to Aiden’s house. His Dad was outside watering the garden. He turned, noticing our approach in the corner of his eye, but his planned greeting died in his mouth when he saw the dried blood coating Aiden’s face.
"Holy Shit! what did you do this time?" he exclaimed, running over to inspect his son’s injuries. "Oh, hey Brian," he added, smiling briefly at me before returning to his analysis.
Mr. Eriks was cool for a dad. Aiden never had a bad thing to say about him, and the way he handled everything that happened in the following months would only increase my admiration for him. He'd raised Aiden by himself, and I would've considered him a second friend if he wasn't 40 years older than me.
After determining the damage wasn't all that bad: a cut on Aidan's forehead and lip producing most of the blood, the three of us went inside.
Aiden went upstairs to take a shower, and his dad privately thanked me for walking him home. It didn’t take long for me to cave, and ask Mr. Eriks about the park.
"Yeah, we do own it," he answered while preparing snacks for Aiden and me. " My wife, Aiden's mom, inherited it before she passed away, and then it was signed over to me. To be honest, I don't know too much about it, and she didn't either. We just used it to go camping there sometimes, back before Aiden was born. Now we go together because it reminds us of her."
"Did you ever run into people up there, when you're camping?"
"Yeah, though not in the fall and winter when we usually go. I have the police's local number on speed dial for when it happens. Usually, it's just teens though. Kids tend to run away as soon as they see an adult with a flashlight. Paranormal or not, they know they're not supposed to be there- You staying with us for dinner Brian?"
At this point, I was too curious about the truth of Skeleton Park to leave, so I nodded and said I just needed to check with my parents.
After a phone call with my mom, some pizza rolls, and a couple of rounds of Fortnite, the afternoon stress had mostly faded away.
Me and Aidan were sitting in his room, scrolling Netflix for a slasher film to watch, when I finally asked what I'd been dying to know the entire afternoon.
"So, why was that guy saying you're a liar?"
Aiden chuckled at the question.
"He refused to believe my family owned the property his friend died on."
"Why did you even say anything? You know that just makes them want to beat you up more, right?"
"I'm tired of everybody using our land like a public park, I'm tired of picking up condoms left by people I go to school with, and I'm tired of keeping quiet about it. I tried explaining it to people in middle school. Our first project in fifth grade was a presentation about something important to us, I did mine about the park. Nobody believed me, and it got me socially exiled for the next four years. "
I ignored the urge to explain that there was probably more to his social exile than a get-to-know-you presentation from four years ago.
"That's fair I guess," I said instead. "You're dad says you go camping there."
"Yeah, on three-day weekends, and sometimes longer on breaks. Mostly in the fall and winter when there are less trespassers."
"You don't find it creepy camping there? Even without the trespassers?"
"You mean because of the silence?" Aiden smiled and looked over at me. "Yeah, the rumor about the animals is true as far as I can tell. Sure. It's kind of weird, but in winter it's kind of beautiful too. After a blizzard, there's nothing to disturb the snow, and it's kinda like the whole forest has gone to sleep. With the snow and no animals, it can get so quiet that you hear your own heart beating."
He looked off past me with a feeling of nostalgia, but all I felt was chills.
"I can take you if you want," Aiden added. "I'll have to ask my dad, but I think it would be fun to have another person camp with us."
"I'll think about it," was my way of declining without saying no.
Aiden just shrugged. "Suit yourself. Offer still stands if you ever change your mind."
Much to my annoyance, we weren’t even able to finish the movie. My Mom called, saying she was outside to pick me up an hour into our viewing of The Blair Witch Project.
I went to bed wondering how anyone could feel safe camping in a place like that. After contemplating taking Aidan up on his offer, I concluded there could be nothing that would make me spend the night there. Ironically, it would be less than a week before I changed my mind.

Three days later, I was walking Paddy along our usual route when she stopped and looked up at something beyond the stone wall, into Skeleton Park. She stood like a statue, eyes wide and fixated on some invisible thing.
I tried tugging the leash, pulling out a treat, begging, and making all kinds of sounds, but she just stood there. Paddy was a six-year-old golden retriever who easily weighed as much as I did, so I couldn't do much more than wait for her to move.
Suddenly, she began barking wildly at the air.
I tried approaching, but she growled at me, a sound I had never heard from her before, and I was forced to back away.
Before I could even process what was happening. She leaped over the wall and ran at full speed into the woods. It all happened so quickly that I had no time to tighten my grip on the leash.
She sprinted straight into the woods, and I chased after her, but I didn't make it far without tripping on a root hidden among the leaves. My knee was split open by something as I fell, and it took all my strength, fighting past the shock, to get back up. After recovering, I looked in all directions, but couldn't see Paddy anymore. I could only hear the tossing of leaves and branches in the distance.
Then there was nothing. Not a single sound. I'm not sure why I didn't question the sudden silence back then. It wasn't the gradual fade into silence you would expect from something running away. It was as if somebody had just hit a mute button on everything but the wind through the trees.
I don't know, maybe I'm misremembering the details.
Patty's disappearance doesn't matter anyway. We never found her, and dogs don’t live for twenty years, so at this point, we never will.
After taking a moment to recover from the shock, I limped home crying and told my parents what had happened. My Dad called the police because it was the only thing we could think of, but all they did was apologize and recommend we put up posters.
They couldn't do anything even if they wanted to. After all, she ran onto private property.
After that, the last thing I could think to do was call Aiden. His dad promised they could search the park that night, and he also offered to take me for an extended search the following weekend in case they didn’t find anything.
Of course, they didn't find her, just half of a leash wrapped around a branch. At least, that's what my parents told me the Eriks had found, they never actually let me see it.
A day before the trip, the Forecast started predicting snow: Saturday night into Sunday, eight inches, wet.
I probably should've given up then. Instead, I told Aiden this would probably be my only chance to find Paddy, insisting she wouldn't survive in the snow. After making sure with his dad, we continued with the plan and headed out after school Friday night.

While it hurts keeping this story in, reliving the memories is almost as painful. So I'm going to take a break writing for now and continue in a day or two. If anyone has a scientific explanation for why animals were avoiding that area, or for my dog's behavior, please let me know.
Thanks for reading, B

2024.05.16 16:05 luv_trance Are we the AH for bringing a bottle to an open bar?

I (27F) live in CA. We have family in NY. My cousin invited my family to her wedding. Mainly my siblings, my boyfriend, a cousin, and I attended this wedding on behalf of the families in CA.
My cousin had an intimate wedding with about 50 people at an old bank in Albany. It was a beautiful venue, my cousin was beautiful, everyone that attended was beautiful.
The day of her wedding we attended the ceremony and cocktail hour. We had fun, laughs were made, we got to know my cousin's husband's side of the family and friends. Overall everything was a typical wedding. After moving to the reception, speeches were made and dinner was served, we all went to dance and drink (everyone that attended is over 21).
We go to the bar and find that there is an open bar. We wanted to start the night right so we asked for shots all around (1 per person). The bartender told us that apparently in the state of NY, shots can only be given with ice.
My entirely family, from CA, and I looked at him and we stared at each other like "did we hear him right?". So we asked him to clarify and he explained how it's to prevent people from getting too drunk. We were whatever about it so we asked him to make us a strong drink. He made the strongest drink he could and honestly, we tasted more of the mix than alcohol.
We then decided to ask for Adios MF. He asked us to explain what's inside. We were surprised he didn't even know what that was, but we figured it's probably not a common drink out in NY like it is in CA. So we showed him the ingredients and he said he didn't have 2 of the ingredients. We then asked for double shots of mixed drinks (at least) and he said only one shot is allowed inside.
We accepted it and went back to our table. While there we all agreed to get a bottle from the liquor store next door. My sister and boyfriend went while I stayed with the rest of the family. They snuck it in with a purse and we started drinking and asked for chasers from the bar.
My aunt (mother of the bride) came up to us and asked if we are having a good time. We told her yeah and had her clarify the alcohol rules. She pretty much said the same thing as the bartender. We didn't want to hide it from her, so we told her how we have a bottle and offered her alcohol. She was shocked and seemed a little sadden by what we showed her.
She told us, "you know (cousin's name) spent a lot of money on the open bar. Make sure she doesn't see it or she would be upset." She still stuck around after what she said and thanked us again for coming.
After she left the table we went to the bar and socialized there a bit and just got whatever drinks we could think of that was to the bar's standards.
Overall, it was a good night and had a good time in NY.
But is my family (from CA) and I AH for sneaking in a bottle when there was an open bar?

Finding the Right Fit: Corporate Event Management Companies in Chennai.
Corporate events are essential for fostering business relationships, showcasing company achievements, and promoting brand awareness. Whether it's a conference, seminar, product launch, or team-building retreat, the success of these events hinges on meticulous planning and flawless execution. In a bustling metropolis like Chennai, where industries thrive and business opportunities abound, the demand for top-notch corporate event management services is ever-present. However, finding the right fit among the myriad of options can be daunting. To simplify your search and ensure a memorable and successful event, it's crucial to consider a few key factors when selecting a corporate event management company in Chennai.

1. Experience and Expertise: A reputable corporate event management company should have a wealth of experience in organizing a variety of corporate events. Look for firms that have successfully executed events similar in scale and nature to yours. Check their portfolio to gauge their creativity, attention to detail, and ability to handle challenges. Companies with a diverse range of clients and event types demonstrate adaptability and proficiency in catering to various needs.
2. Comprehensive Services: A one-stop-shop for all your event management needs is ideal. From conceptualization and planning to execution and post-event analysis, the chosen company should offer a full suite of services. This includes venue selection, décor, catering, audio-visual support, entertainment, transportation, and guest management. Opting for a company that can handle every aspect of your event streamlines the process, minimizes coordination efforts, and ensures seamless integration of all elements.
3. Client References and Testimonials: Word-of-mouth recommendations and client testimonials are invaluable in assessing the reliability and credibility of an event management company. Reach out to past clients to inquire about their experiences with the company. Ask specific questions regarding communication, responsiveness, problem-solving abilities, and overall satisfaction. Positive feedback and repeat business are indicators of a company's commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.
4. Budget Considerations: While it's essential to stay within budget, prioritize value over cost when selecting an event management company. A company that offers competitive pricing without compromising on quality is worth investing in. Transparent pricing models and detailed proposals outlining all expenses help prevent unpleasant surprises down the line. Discuss your budget constraints openly with the company and collaborate to find creative solutions that meet your financial parameters.

2024.05.16 11:40 Agreeable-Ad4806 Exploration of Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra Part 3

I ran out of room on my last post, so this is just going to be a continuation of that. This is Vedic astrology once again.
Yoni
Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra is associated with the male lion yoni. Together with the pillar of light as one of its symbols, this brings to mind the story of Lord Narasimha, who was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu as a part-lion avatar, where he destroyed the duality of worldy-mindliness represented by Hiranyakashipu. This of course relates to Purva Bhadrapada's nature of protection of innocence and the oncoming destruction of duality. Lions are known for their majestic presence and commanding strength in the animal kingdom, qualities that mirror the dominant and regal nature of individuals born under this nakshatra. The male lion yoni symbolizes a potent and assertive approach to sexuality, illuminating the primal instincts and intense desires of Purva Bhadrapada natives. Similar to the bold and authoritative demeanor of a lion, these individuals may exhibit a confident and passionate attitude in their sexual encounters, embracing intimacy with fervor and intensity. Purva Bhadrapada natives are often loyal, attractive, forgiving, and faithful partners, embodying the noble virtues associated with the lion yoni. There is also a connection between Purva Bhadrapada and homosexuality, which is echoed in the behavior of lions to frequently engage in same-sex relationship and mating behavior. The diversity of sexual expressions within the animal kingdom, mirroring the complexity and fluidity of human sexuality observed among Purva Bhadrapada natives is apparent here. That said, there can be a tendency to be overly sexual, as lions are known to mate up to 50 times in a 24-hour period when the females are in heat. And despite being painful for the female lion due to the barbs on the male lions genitals, that does not stop them from harassing the males for sex when they cannot keep up with their demands. Beyond their sexual nature, the lion yoni offers insights into the fundamental characteristics that shape compatibility in relationships for Purva Bhadrapada individuals. Lions are typically known for their social structure, where they live in prides led by a dominant male, with females doing most of the work in terms of hunting and caring for the young. Male lions are often portrayed as gentle and lazy, preferring to conserve their energy for crucial moments of challenge from another male, while female lions are more continuously aggressive and assertive, taking on the role of primary hunters and protectors of the pride. In the context of Purva Bhadrapada individuals, this dynamic may manifest in their views on relationships and interpersonal dynamics. Like male lions, they may view others' children as adversaries, striving to maintain their dominance and authority over a given territory. Women of this Nakshatra will behave more like female lions though, even though the yoni as a whole is of the Male lion. The yoni counterpart to this asterism is the female lion of Dhanishta.
Deciding Attributes

Activity – Nakshatras are categorized into three main modes of activity based on their inherent qualities: passive, active, and balanced. These classifications provide insights into the fundamental nature and functioning of each Nakshatra, influencing its manifestation. Passive Nakshatras are characterized by a receptive and introspective nature, expressing themselves internally. They tend to be more attuned to their surroundings, absorbing energy and stimuli from their environment. Individuals born under passive Nakshatras may exhibit traits such as sensitivity, intuition, idealism, and emotional depth. They often possess a natural ability to empathize with others and may excel in creative or spiritual pursuits that require reflection. On the other hand, active Nakshatras are dynamic and assertive. They are proactive and initiative-taking, inclined towards external expression of action like the naming suggests. Individuals born under active Nakshatras may display traits such as courage and a strong drive of pursuit. They are often motivated to pursue their goals with determination and may excel in leadership roles or competitive endeavors. Balanced Nakshatras exhibit a combination of both passive and active qualities, allowing them to adapt their behavior and approach according to the demands of the situation. Individuals born under balanced Nakshatras may possess a versatile nature, capable of both receptivity and initiative as circumstances require. They are adept at finding a harmonious medium between action and reflection. Purva Bhadrapada is a passive Nakshatra and does not rush into things.

Gender – Purva Bhadrapada is a masculine Nakshatra. This Nakshatra projects the qualities described as masculine by the sages, such as enthusiasm, logic, and initiation. This nakshatra is also in association with male planets like Jupiter and Saturn.

Direction – Purva bhadrapada's main directions are West and South East. Its looking direction is downward. Westward activities, such as introspection, meditation, and spiritual practices, are considered auspicious, as they align with the nakshatra's inward-focused energy and journey towards spiritual enlightenment. Conversely, Southeast-facing endeavors, like material pursuits, worldly ambitions, and external engagements, may be less favorable, as they distract from the nakshatra's path of inner growth and self-discovery. The downward looking direction further emphasizes the importance of grounding and introspection, guiding individuals towards activities that foster inner peace, wisdom, and spiritual fulfillment.

Tendency – Creation (as opposed to maintenance or dissolution)

Nadi – Like Ashwini, Purva Bhadrapada's nadi dosha is Aadi nadi and is related to Vaata, indicating flow of energyt from bottom to top. This nadi dosha can lead to problems with anxiety, controversy, divorce, and matters related to children.

Overall Auspicious activities – Purva Bahdrapada is good for activities that are difficult or impossible to reverse, such as argument, violent or destructive tasks, meat selling, battles, legal proceedings, weapons handling, aggressive behavior, risky activities and investments, endings and completions, dealing with death-related matters like funerals, removal of obstacles, terminating relationships, demolitions, handling waste, rituals to remove obstacles, occult practices, meditation, group ceremonies, technology-related tasks, and agricultural matters.

Overall Inauspicious activities – Purva Bhadrapada is not good for activities that require stability and peace, such as travelling, sexual intercourse, marriage ceremonies, negotiations, reconciliations, initiating things, establishing new relationships, beginning journeys, farming or gardening, creative endeavors, childbirth, religious ceremonies focused on positivity, dealing with authority, and generally any activity requiring patience or a gentle hand.

Capacity – Purva Bhadrapada is Ugra, meaning fierce or intense. Ugra nakshatras are characterized by their aggressive and forceful nature. The energy of Purva Bhadrapada can be both destructive and transformative. This nakshatra is associated with breaking down old structures to make way for new growth. Ugra nakshatras are suitable for activities requiring fire, destruction, excessive force, and challenging enemies. They are also support activities such as tantric practices, shamanistic rituals, and other forms of deep spiritual work, with Purva Bhadrapada having the most power to cause transformations overall.

Professions – Purva Bhadrapada is associated with careers such as business administration, occupations related to death, medicine and healing (especially those related to death or geriatrics), psychology and psychiatry careers (especially those relating to asylums or loss of mental faculties like insanity or cognitive degeneration), research jobs, teaching and higher education, visionary or fanatical work like a social rights activism or terrorism, occultism and black magic, the darker side of the government/ruling elite, the darker side of the entertainment industry like pornography or scandals, weapon makers and users, soldiers and homicide forces, dark technologies, religious ascetics and monks, metal industry jobs, occupations related to the use of fire, enemies and protectors of the environment, jobs related to pharmaceuticals, and occupations that require total secrecy like illegal activities and those that require high standing for authorization. As a personal observation, I also tend to see them quite a bit in the entertainment industry as creative artists of music, media, and fashion. Their creations are usually quite popular, even though they can be a bit more dark.

Tattva – Purva Bhadrapada's overall tattva is Akasha (Ether), but is it also closely linked to Agni or fire. Akasha represents the vast, boundless nature of space. With this being the predominant Tattva, natives of this nakshatra have a tendency to look beyond the immediate or the mundane, choosing to look for the truth of reality themselves. As the element of Ether is associated with the vastness of the cosmos and the unseen realms, Purva Bhadrapada natives often have strong spiritual and mystical inclinations. They may be drawn to esoteric knowledge, occult practices, and metaphysical exploration. Connecting with sound, Ether is also the element communication. This is not practical communication though; it is more spiritual and implicit communication, where the knowledge of the universe is echoed through everything. Individuals born under Purva Bhadrapada possess an ability to communicate things without saying them. They can just kind of send out information that others attuned to them and this level of existence will be able to pick up on with little effort.

Ayurvedic connections – In Ayurveda, each individual is said to be born with a unique combination of the three doshas, known as their primary constitution or Prakriti. Like Ashwini, Purva Bhadrapada is connected to Vaata dosha, primarily being connected to the knees and the top portions of the feet. Knees are the body parts which provide us the capacity for walking and quick forward movement, such as with running and jumping. Vaata carries a moveable energy as it is said to govern movement and is associated with qualities like dryness, coldness, lightness, and variability. According to ayurveda, doshas out of balance will lead to poor health and disease. When in harmony, Vaata will provide creativity and enthusiasm, flexibility and adaptability, clear and agile thinking, healthy digestion and regular elimination, sound sleep, stable energy levels throughout the day, an overall sense of well-being and vitality, a lean physique with proportionate features, graceful movements, a healthy and clear complexion, strong and flexible joints and muscles, normal and healthy body temperature and circulation. When out of balance, the effect of Vaata can lead to anxiety, nervousness, uncontrollable restlessness, insomnia and disturbed sleep, digestive issues, dry as well as rough/cracked skin, fatigue/inconsistent energy levels, joint stiffness or pain, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating, irregular appetite, emotional instability, sensitivity to the cold or windy weather, weight loss, brittle hair and nails, excessive movement or hyper speech, confusion, fear, tremors, and weakening muscles.

Shakti – The Yajamana Udyamana Shakti of Purva Bhadrapada manifests as a dual force, intertwining the energies of sacrifice and grand endeavors to uplift society. On one hand, this Shakti empowers individuals to engage in acts of selfless sacrifice, dedicating themselves to the betterment of society and the advancement of spiritual growth. Their willingness to make personal sacrifices for the greater good serves as a beacon of inspiration, illuminating the path towards collective upliftment and enlightenment. However, the promise of swift manifestation and profound transformation also carries inherent dangers and consequences, including unintended outcomes. They can lose their way by fixating on power and control. Overall, this Shakti gives a natural inclination towards leadership and innovation. When associated with this nakshatra, it gives these natives the capacity to envision bold initiatives and possess the drive and determination to see them through to fruition. Whether it's spearheading social reforms, pioneering scientific breakthroughs, or initiating large-scale efforts, these individuals are drawn to endeavors that have a lasting impact on the world. Moreover, this Shakti gives individuals the ability to inspire and motivate others to join them in their quest. Their pwerful presence and persuasive abilities enable them to rally support and build coalitions, creating a ripple effect that amplifies the reach and impact of their actions. They are amplifiers for change, igniting passion and purpose in those around them and mobilizing collective action towards a shared vision

2024.05.16 10:49 astrobabag Vashikaran Totka - Ritual Practice Harmonizing the Minds of People

Vashikaran Totka - Ritual Practice Harmonizing the Minds of People
Vashikaran Totka
Vashikaran is exactly the name that was applied to a whole generation of procedures that had no other purpose but to control people by taking advantage of their thoughts and ideas. In fact, yoga is a secret curation of practices that was brought to the planet for the first time more than 6000 years gone now.
The term 'vashikaran' is not only 'turning someone toward' or 'possessing someone', what it describes is 'having profound effect on another person with the intention of attracting them. 'These problem rituals are becoming entirely obsolete and are now gaining society’s sympathy. Though, these meanings may be different from those held by future generations.
'Vashikaran' agreeably is an activity that builds in muttering some mantras and following a particular ritualistic steps for as getting someone in a literal rope-tied state. The idea is to narrow the options of a victim to the extent where they give in and start thinking that the vashikaran practitioner is above them and can do anything he wants.
To take the outline, relationship separation is the key reason why one person may use this means of communication because their marriage is at risk, the couple is experiencing a disappointing life event, another reason the intruder is an enemy who is after your lover.
Some common ingredients and objects used in vashikaran totka are:
  1. Spell of Vashikaran refers to Godly sky words which entails universal connection. In process of performing such a routine, practitioners are proceeded with repeating the mantras that they have previously studied.
    1. Yantras - Cosmic images is the type of mystic emblems, usually being drawn on a birch leaf paper. They are spiritual connections that shape the united thoughts and the universe as a whole.
  2. Alone, occultists point out plants' idiosyncrasies with exception of herbs and roots. The see these curves as in the flowers of the jasmine maghone, fushia palash leaves, gray asoka tree barks and lime of the lemon grasses.
  3. Oils and perfumes - There is a possibility someone might use some particular oils to relieve certain conditions. Oil some tools and incense can also be used. Besides, from the classical ones , rose, basswood , lavender and musk brands are all favorites.
  4. Effigies – for a particular solemnity, a symbolic figure of wheat flour, flowers or even turmeric powder could be make using hands to symbolize a believed representation. Here we’ll look into each category, eye, ear, hand, and limb separately.
Notwithstanding, the very fact that this study’s personal vashikaran totka and that of other soothsayers is often different in the degree of detail they highlight, is point to underscore. But they usually include:
  • This calling to become a respectable person and an inhabitant of somewhere else can entail, but is not restricted to, bathing, new clothes, meditation, etc.
  • Hence, the same ceremonial as the one performed inside the altar with all the required rituals, instruments, incense of required wiring as well as the patterns should repeat the same given.
  • Carve out a mantra that is unique for yourself and say it aloud onehundred to thousands of times when your hours are assigned.
  • Fixing my eyes on resolving that end goal with every chant was what doing visualization tasks was all about.
  • Now we are ready to mix after the flour puja via ritual chanting ceremony.
The mechanisms claimed by vashikaran believers include:The mechanism worshippers of vashikaran mention is:
  • Roles played in ceremonies fundamentally generate and iconitize of the spiritual energies.
    • The mantras ordinarily have a mystery motif, and therefore, they produce a specific sound that cannot be ignored.
    • One of the special features that this novel has is that magic potions and the herbs that the heroes use give the whole story a very mysterious character. It as if all this is happening in a different part of the world where time moves in a different way.
  • It is this phenomenon that makes us hypnotized and confounded by the unearthly extraterrestrial forces.
Hence, the vashikaran totka are composed from the wearing special garments, repetitions of word combinations, visualizing mental images, and symbolic ceremonial rites. Stinking over centuries, part of the belief system states that only immense confidence can break the spell and that cleanness ought to be in every aspect of one’s life while performing the complicated acts.
On the other hand, they believe that the appliances are only a rein of the natural cyclicity and this may lead to dependency. The disputes assume a different level in the discussion with some parties forgoing the pros and cons and opting instead for either the moral or ethical consequences.

2024.05.16 08:23 KarmaIsACatNamedLuna All the stress was worth it!!

Married the love of my life on Saturday, 5/11! Everything went exceedingly well. Like the best it could have gone in every aspect, including our choreographed first dance. All the family drama I thought would be problematic was miniscule to none. I had the TIME OF MY LIFE. I was stressed and depressed the last 4 months putting so much pressure on one day to be perfect; it will never be perfect, but it CAN go significantly better than you could’ve ever imagined. I cried pretty much the whole ceremony and all the speeches, but wow what a day. We felt so loved 🥹🥹🥹 (10/10 recommend a day-of coordinator!)

2024.05.16 08:00 zi_on_this University of Sydney Email - “Protest encampment update”

I’m tired of universities negotiating with these protesters. Whatever goals these protesters claim they have, it is clear they want nothing, but to scare, intimidate, and destroy. The University of Sydney’s president just sent an email that went as follows:
Dear students,
Like you, I continue to be horrified by the conflict and loss of life occurring in the Middle East. As I said last October, the University abhors violence and any breach of human rights, and we unequivocally condemn racism in all its forms, including antisemitism and Islamophobia. Like you, we watch the international situation unfolding with collective hope for an immediate cessation of hostilities. These issues are deeply distressing for many of us, and the profoundly polarised debates about the conflict encourage further division rather than constructive dialogue. I extend my sympathies to everyone affected and encourage you to reach out for support if you need it: you can visit our student life, wellbeing and support webpage or talk with one of our University counsellors.
Unacceptable conduct
Since the protest encampment on our campus began, we have been focused on the safety and wellbeing of our community, ensuring our campus remains peaceful and our University activities can continue uninterrupted.
Where instances of alleged unacceptable conduct occur, we have acted decisively. We will continue to take a reasonable and proportionate approach to any alleged misconduct and deal with unacceptable conduct on a case-by-case basis, consistent with our approach of de-escalation.
We have repeatedly directed protesters not to share their student or staff ID cards with visitors to campus. Individuals who have been found to have shared their ID cards have had their cards confiscated and will be subject to misconduct proceedings.
We have become aware that some individuals have allegedly gone beyond the bounds of acceptable political announcements before the commencement of classes by: deliberately covering their faces in a manner intended to conceal their identity and, in contravention of University policy, not identifying themselves upon request interrupting classes or not allowing classes to commence at the scheduled time acting in a way that can reasonably be considered to be intimidatory of staff and/or students. The University has an obligation to provide a safe learning environment for our students and a safe workplace for staff, and we will be taking disciplinary action against identified individuals involved in these incidents.
Equally, we are aware of an instance of counter-protesters allegedly engaging in intimidatory behaviour towards the encampment overnight earlier this week, and we are co-operating with police in their investigations of this behaviour.
Our expectations
As we have stated repeatedly, we do not tolerate any form of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, threats to safety, hate speech, intimidation, threatening speech, bullying or unlawful harassment, or breaches of privacy including photography in classes without permission. As previously communicated, the following is unacceptable conduct: disruption of lectures and classes, preventing other students from learning entering buildings without authorisation harassing or intimidating staff and students who may hold a different view or simply do not wish to engage in protest or debate preventing free movement around campus damage to property creating and/or refusing to control a serious safety risk. If you witness or experience an incident, I encourage you to lodge a complaint via our online form. If you are feeling unsafe on campus, you can call protective services on 9351 3333.
Working towards a resolution
I know that many in our community have passionate and long-held views on Israel and Palestine and are legitimately concerned about what is taking place, and the University upholds the right of our community to express these views provided they do not unreasonably infringe on the rights of others to come to campus and engage in their usual activities.
Senior University representatives have had productive and open conversations with representatives from the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA), and the student-led University of Sydney Union (USU).
I’m disappointed we haven’t yet been able to have constructive engagement with the Students' Representative Council (SRC) and Sydney University Muslim Students' Association (SUMSA) organisers to discuss their views, and I have written to them today inviting them to meet with me and Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Annamarie Jagose in a private and neutral place where meaningful discussions can take place.
Likewise, the Sydney Branch of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), one of our staff unions, recently passed a motion outlining concerns similar to those of the encampment, and I’ve written to them today inviting them to meet with me and Annamarie next week.
Around the world, we have seen universities and encampments come to mutually-acceptable agreements following good-faith dialogue. The concerns of the encampment and the NTEU are worthy of consideration, but we can only progress towards any resolution through genuine two-way discussions and I hope that both the students and the NTEU will accept our offer to meet next week.
In these troubling times, I encourage you to be thoughtful and considerate when expressing your views and have empathy for others who may be affected in different ways by current events.
Kind regards, Mark
Professor Mark Scott Vice-Chancellor and President

Hi people,
Well, last week, I was chosen for the largest scholarship my college offers ($10,000 for any school of my choosing for my bachelor's), and I’m freaking out in a bad way.
I go to an in-person college but take all of my classes online due to my extreme anxiety. I have a 4.0, am head of the newspaper, volunteer to several local organizations, and am second in command at my company, all from the comfort of my bed/couch and laptop.
I am so uncomfortable receiving this acknowledgment. I don’t feel like I deserve it; I feel like a fraud. I have never been recognized for anything. Now they’re telling me I have to record a video to share with the committee telling them about myself, get headshots, attend meetings and conferences, and perform a 2-3 minute speech at the ceremony. That is so not me. I don’t like people looking at me. I don’t even go to the grocery store - I make my husband go, or I order pickup!
What do I do? Do I turn down the scholarship because there’s no way in hell I can do what they’re asking of me? But I could really use the money. This is making me not even want to continue my education. I don’t want this attention. It’s making me so overwhelmed and uncomfortable. I wish I could just be normal and grateful like anyone else would be in this situation, but I just can’t.

Soon to rise: PH navy barracks, rural health center in Pagasa Island
PAGASA ISLAND, West Philippine Sea — In line with the government’s bid to boost Filipino presence in the West Philippine Sea and prevent “illegal incursions of China,” a Philippine Navy barracks and a Super Rural Health Unit will soon be built in Pagasa Island in the municipality of Kalayaan in Palawan.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri flew to Pagasa Island on Thursday to lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the two infrastructure projects.
Along with him were Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva and Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito.
In his opening speech, Zubiri labelled the senators’ visit to the island as historic. He then expressed joy, pointing out that the chamber’s endeavors do not end in words, but also transpire to actions.
“Ang investment natin sa infrastructure sa Pag-asa Island at sa Kalayaan ay investment sa ating seguridad sa West Philippine Sea,” said Zubiri.
"It will show China and the rest of the world na may thriving community sa Kalayaan at may functioning military unit ready to complement our patrols in our territory and exclusive economic zone,” he emphasized
Meanwhile, Zubiri said the Super Rural Health Unit will be equipped with laboratory and birthing facilities.
While the eventual establishment of the said infrastructures is already a momentous change, the Senate chief emphasized that it will not be the end.
“This is just the start. We will continue to strengthen our defense posture here in Kalayaan, and we will continue to support the development of the municipality as a thriving community and a lively economy, and even an ecotourism destination here in Palawan,” said Zubiri

2024.05.16 04:24 godofcertamen Golden Son (pre-Iron Rain) scene

I've read the entire series, but since I have lots of credits on Audible, I'm going back and listening to the cinematic versions/graphic audio of the books. They're so excellent. This scene before the Iron Rain on Mars has the Whites doing a ceremony before the battle:
...And cut our left palms with the iron as they whisper softly in our ears:
"My son, my daughter, now that you bleed, you shall know no fear - no defeat - only victory. Your cowardness seeps from you, your rage burns bright, rise warrior of Gold and take with you, your color's might."
Bro, the voice actor's skill and intensity coupled with the music made me low key emotional lmao. I teared up. I also had a thought - imagine that kind of speech given to Golds or the best of humanity before facing a truly evil enemy like some alien race. Would make it even more emotional in that hypothetical scenario. I just love this story. So fricken well done.
The time stamp is 1:05:38.
