2024.05.03 02:44 Obvious_Ad4159 Sand & Steel (Part 5)

Chapter 1/Part 1
A blood curdling scream pierced the night. Solon jumped to his sleep, reaching for his hatched, looking around the wagon as another howl echoed out across the sands. Sheela too, was now awake, moving over to Solon while crouching. "What the hell is that?"
The mercenary poked his head through the curtain of the wagon, tracing the sounds back to the other cart in the caravan, one hauling the merchandise. The four guards were poking their spears through the bars of the cage, angrily using the blunt ends to push and jab at a small creature. Solon and Sheela exited the main wagon to better see what was going on.
"You two! Go back inside, there's nothing to see here." Kopak turned to them, barding out the order.
"Easy now son, don't be rude to our guests." Vur'z said, walking past the pair while talking to his son. "They must have been quite startled by the noise."
With a snap of his fingers, the old man lit a small lantern that hung by the cage wagon, illuminating what is inside. Solon leaned forward, squinting his eyes to see better what was moving under the flickering light. A pair of piercing green eyes stared back at him. He could make our a tail and some ears, nothing out of the ordinary, until what he thought to be a large cat stood up on its hind legs.
"So that's a beast person?" The mercenary concluded, looking at the creature with slight aversion. "Every basement dwellers fantasy."
"They exist on your world too?" The former genie asked.
"No, just as folk tales, legends. Fiction." The man replied, as the creature went from howling frantically to speaking.
It stuck its head through the wooden bars, waving its hands and tail around, yelling something at the man. Solon looked at it, confused, as he did not understand a word that was being said. By the sound of the voice tho, he could deduce that the creature was a young boy, and not a fully grown beast person.
"Alright little one, that's enough out of you for tonight." Vur'z said, waving his hand in front of the boys face. "Sleep now."
The beast child backed away, but the spell had already been cast, causing it to slowly stumble until it collapsed on the floor of the wagon.
"Well, now I know why an old man and four would-be guards can make a living as slavers." Solon chuckled.
"Adult beast folk are impossible to train. They follow only who they believe is stronger than them, and they are freakishly strong, so not many people outside their own tribes can command them. That's why there is very little beast folk as royal help, soldiers or guards." The old slaver explained.
"They are only good for gladiatorial combat. But if you train one before they start adolescence, they can be molded into serving just about any purpose." Sedef added, as his father proudly nodded.
"I see. So what will become of this one?" Sheela asked, folding her arms.
"No clue. We acquire them and sell them further. The thought never crosses my mind as to where they end up, I don't think my conscience could handle it." Vur'z grinned at his own, before patting Solon and Sheela on their backs.
"The sun will soon rise, and we are all already awake, so what do you two say we get this caravan back on the move?" He asked, and the pair agreed, making their way back to the main wagon.
[ ]
"Shit. They have barricaded themselves too well in there." One of the dungeon clearing squad members cussed.
"What's the situation?" Clyde, who was sitting on the floor, back against the wall, looked up at the woman as she returned from the hallway that lead to the next dungeon floor.
Clyde's squad had reached the fifth floor of the dungeon with expert proficiency. Somewhere after the third floor, they stopped taking prisoners regardless of race, which resulted in a one sided bloodbath of various monsters and adventurers alike. On the fifth floor they decided to make a small makeshift camp, to rest after driving the goblins that reemerged back to their burrows. Their progress had been halted by a party of platinum adventurers that were tasked with guarding the next floor below.
Within the ranking system of many guilds across the continent, platinum adventurers were considered the highest tier of freelancers in the adventuring business. Though there were a few higher ranks than platinum, adventurers of that tier were most often employed as guards to many various royal families or were made into private militia, again under employment by royalty or extremely wealthy businessmen. Despite being considered adventurers still, they rarely abided by regulations and code of conduct of their respected guilds and gravitated more towards following the orders of their employers. Platinum rank adventurers were the highest tier of adventurer that still functioned as freelance parties or individuals.
Clyde didn't feel like they were any issue to his unit, however they did possess magic that had proven a nuisance. A mage in the party guarding the sixth floor had the ability to manifest various defenses, and has used that power to create multiple gates at the very entrance to the chamber. Realizing that they will run out of explosives to tear down walls way before the mage runs out of mana to spam the same spell over and over, Clyde has decided to call in for backup, sending one of his men to the surface, as long range communication did not in the dungeon at the depth that they were in.
He now sat on the floor of the fifth floor, helmet resting by his side, as he smoked.
"We can't get in there." Said one of the soldiers, approaching him. "I mean, we could, but they are pretty well prepared and since that's the only entrance, we would end up in a bottle neck and that'll lead to unnecessary casualties."
"I know, relax. Have a doobie." Clyde grinned, offering the man his smoke.
"Oh shit, don't mind if I DO." The other man grinned and sat down, taking a long inhale from the joint. "How'd you even smuggle this past the outpost control?"
"Man, those bastards don't check for shit once I'm inside this armor. I have so much weed on this inside of this thing, If I get blown up, the whole dungeon will be hallucinating for weeks." The huge man tapped on his chest plate and laughed.
The two rowdy men attracted the attention of another comrade of their. The man put down his handheld monitor and walked over to them. "What the fuck are you two doing?"
"Smoking, why?" Answered Clyde.
"What are we going to do about the sixth floor?" The guy standing over them asked.
"Jeremy, baby relax. I got it all covered." His armored comrade blew him a kiss and laughed. "I called in for backup, that'll take care of everything. Now come hit this while we wait."
[ ]
"Uh... Gods." Quinn huffed, leaning on her staff while chugging a mana potion, face frowning at the bitter taste. "I think they finally stopped trying to breach"
"You alright?" Filtz patted her on the back. The paladin looked up, checking on the rest of his party. "Everybody else alright?"
The remaining members of the party all raised their hands, signaling that everyone was alive and standing.
"Damn elves, they did not tell us we would be going up against such a force. While they hide on the last floor no less!" The parties fighter, a stocky dwarf said, spitting on the ground. "Typical of those long eared wimps."
"Shut up." Quinn angrily said, not taking kindly to the dwarves insulting of her people. "We were paid well for this job. Are you not an adventurer? If you dislike this, maybe you should retire instead and get paid to sit around and mold."
"Quinn relax. I'm sure he meant nothing bad by it." Said the party's tank. The large ogre woman walked over to the exhausted elf, casting a recuperation buff on her.
"Did they really back off?" Belam'Bal asked Filtz, while still casting her spell on Quinn, who had already started to feel less shaky and exhausted.
"I don't know. Rin! Anything outside the gate?" The paladin asked.
Outside of the dark behind the party, one of the three assassins replied. "Yeah, they seem to have backed off. I sense no one near the entrance."
"Perhaps they have went to lick their wounds. Or maybe they have ran out of supplies. Their weapons aside, they did not seem too equipped to stay down here a long time. We can probably wait them out like this." The dwarf cackled.
"And have me do all the heavy lifting to keep the entrance sealed." Quinn rolled her eyes.
The party settled down, deciding to rest as much as they could before the next breach attempt by the invaders. Tension seemed to die down as a few hours passed without a single movement on the other side of the sealed off entrance.
"Told you, they must have realized we're not letting them in without a fight and gave up." Laughed the warrior.
"They are no match for Quinn's magic!" Belam'Bal patted the elf on the back.
"Wait. I sense movement." Yu, the second of the three assassins said, grabbing everyone's attention.
"The goblins in the area decreasing in number rapidly." Rin added to her brothers statement.
"Hah! They must be so angry at their loss, they are taking it out on the goblins." The dwarf said, slapping his knee.
"There is someone on the other side of the gate. A single person by the feel of it." Said Jan, the third of the party's assassins. Each of the three siblings was blessed with powerful detection magic, capable of sensing things even through objects and behind walls.
"Just one guy? Maybe they want to surrender? Think it's a trap?" Belam looked at the paladin, who shook his head and shrugged in response.
"Yes. There is other present anywhere near, it seems he is alone." Rin's answer was interrupted by a faint knock on the stone gate, coming from the other side.
Cautiously, weapons drawn, Flitz told the elf mage to lower the gate, but be ready to cast it again immediately. The elf nodded and did as she was told. To the party's surprise, a black man stood on the other side. He wore the uniform of the invaders, with slight modifications such as decorative furs and feathers that matches the green of the uniform. Filtz noticed something hanging off the mans hip and quickly identified the object to be a Kobold skull, clearly taken as some sort of trophy.
The man took a single step into the chamber, flashing the party an honest smile. His stature in no way matches his overwhelming confidence and lack of any fear or worry, considering he was no taller than the party's dwarf warrior.
"What do you want?" Filtz asked.
The man seemed to be glad that someone present spoke a language he could understand and locked eyes with Flitz. "I have come here to tell you that you are surrounded."
Everyone stood in silence, baffled at what the man had just said. "Surrounded?" Quinn whispered, looking over at the assassins.
Before she could get an answer, the man continued. "Since we just had appetizer, I want to offer you one chance to surrender. Give up and I will let you leave here alive and in one piece. No harm. No foul."
[ ]
"Sir, sir, wake up. The reinforcements are here." A soldier nudged Clyde with her foot as he laid passed out on the floor. The short black man pushed past her, stomping on Clyde's ribs, as he was laying on his side. "Wake up, ya bastard!" He shouted with a heavy Cameroonian accent.
"Auuuugghhh... yeah, yeah, I'm up." Groaned the head of the unit as he got up to his feet, rubbing his bloodshot eyes. He took a deep inhale, hoping the stale dungeon air would clear away the fog in his head. Groggily looking down, a huge smile appeared on the man's face.
"Shaka Zulu! Glad you could join us, all the way down here." Clyde laughed, patting the small man on the shoulder.
"Clyde, I see your humor is still as shit as the rest of you." The single person reinforcement replied with an equally big smile.
The other two men who were passed out on the floor woke up from the noise and slowly started getting up to their feet.
"So, this is our reinforcement? A pygmy?" Jeremy chuckled, looking down at Clyde's friend.
The black man looked at him, his confidence unimpacted by the comment. "You will find me more than enough."
The armored behemoth shot a quick glare at Jeremy, causing the latter to look down and quickly head somewhere else in the cap to help the rest of the unit with preparations. They hauled in large, heavy, metal boxes as per the short man's orders, leaving them very close to where the exit to the fifth floor met the hallway that lead to the sixth floor. Soft huffing and noise could be heard from inside the containers, as Marcel walked over in front of the containers, signaling to the rest of the unit to move a healthy distance away.
"So, what's in the cages?" Jeremy asked Clyde, observing as the other man tampered with what looked like a remote to the containers.
"Gungams." Replied Clyde, his comrade looking up at him with confusion.
"Marcel is to beasts what Cesar Millan is to dogs." The behemoth in combat armor continued his explanation as the remove beeped and all ten containers simultaneously opened.
Jeremy shone a flashlight in Marcel's direction to better see what was going on, as the darkness in the hallway made it nearly impossible to see. The soldier stood frozen in his tracks, watching massive lizard like beasts emerge from the containers, sniffing the air and crawling around Marcel. The short, dark skinned soldier did not seem worried in the slightest, actually seeming glad and happy to be around those creatures.
Each of the ten lizards seemed equal in size, 5 feet from the head to the tail at least. Their arms and backs were covered in thick scales, the ones on their backs being the size of diner plates and overlapping. Arm scales seemed equally thick but smaller to keep mobility. Their tails ended with two dorsal plates, but horizontal, giving the tails an appearance of a double sided axe swinging side to side. They moved slowly, having only one pair of limbs, that being their arms.
As the soldier stood in shock, one of the creatures turned towards the source of the light that was shone. Clyde quickly grabbed his comrade by the wrist, snatching the flashlight away from him.
"They dislike artificial light. So, don't do that." He said, letting go of Jeremy's wrist.
The soldier still stood stunned, as the creature's attention turned back to Marcel, the image of the lizards face forever etched into his memory.
It's head was torpedo shaped, bone plating covering it like a helmet, connecting to the neck and back plates. 2 pairs of eyes, one eye on each side like the snakes and lizards of Earth, the other pair sitting atop the head, facing directly forward. It was unlike anything he had ever seen.
Marcel whistled once, snapping Jeremy out of his trance and getting the attention of his pets. He pulled something out of his pouch and let the creatures get a good sniff. With the second whistle, the lizards moved uncharacteristically fast, lunging at the walls and ceiling of the hallway and boring into them. Silence ensued, soon followed by muffled and distant screeching of the goblins in their nearby burrows.
"Huh, I guess some goblins did survive." One of the other soldiers commented nonchalantly.
"What the fuck are those?" Jeremy muttered under his breath.
"Told you, Gungams. Cave dwelling predators from this world. Everything from their webbed claws to the shape of their head and scales is designed to have them glide through the ground like they're swimming. They use their arms to clear the way and move forward, while their long bodies use motion similar to snakes to move fast. Pretty tough to kill too, those plates are thick as shit, damn near bulletproof to standard caliber. Even lower caliber ammo piercing rounds struggle against them. Their underbellies are soft, but good luck flipping one of those nimble bastards on their backs." Clyde explained.
"I have no clue where Marcel found them, let alone how he got them doing tricks." He added.
"If they're underground, why do they need 2 sets of eyes?" Clyde's comrade asked.
"I don't really know. According to Marcel, they use the eyes on the side to see, like our reptiles. The eyes up front at to mesmerize and entrance a larger opponent or bigger prey, while the rest of the pack moved in from the side to kill. So yeah, do not look them dead in the eyes. Don't look at them directly at all, those things are always itching to beef." With his explanation finished, Clyde raised his right hand, making a circling motion with his index finger, giving the unit the order to start packing up as they're about to head out soon.
Jeremy took one more glance at the now silent hallways, but Marcel was already gone, walking on his way to the sixth floor, to deal with the party that was barricaded there.
[ ]
Everybody stared confused at the dark skinned soldier standing at the entrance to the sixth floor. He did not seem very armed nor armored. Even if he was carrying a hidden weapon, the party knew there was little to no chance he would be able to take them all out before Quinn's magic or the assassins took him out. But for some reason, his words carried the weight only irrefutable truths do, when he told them they are surrounded.
"Rin, Yu, Jan! Observe the area again, this time as far as you can, include the walls and ceiling too." Ordered Filtz, never taking his eyes off the enemy soldier.
"Surrounded? You must be mad. There is no way they would be able to dig through this much earth in such a short time. Plus, we'd hear them." Said Belam'Bal, looking from one party member to another, seeking someone to agree with her.
The paladin opened his mouth to speak when the clamor, the tale tale sound of steel hitting stone, echoed from the side. He turned to the source, only to be met with Rin, kneeling on the ground, staring up at a spot in the ceiling. She had dropped her dagger, her arms hanging limply at her side in utter surrender.
"Right there... There is a lizard, right above me." She whispered, never taking her eyes off the spot above, tears welling in her eyes.
"There are lizards, all around us. Burrowing through the soil." Jan answered, as Quinn rushed over to Rin, trying to snap her out of her daze.
"Gungams." The dwarf said, exhaling in defeat and taking a step towards the enemy soldier, axe in hand.
"What are y-?" The party's tank reached out to stop him, but the dwarf already had his mind set.
"There is no chance we can survive this, let alone fight the beasts off." The warrior continued, looking Marcel dead in the eyes.
Although the invader did not understand a single word of dwarven, he got the message loud and clear. The dwarf dropped his axe to the ground and raised his hands high, palms pointing outwards. "I surrender."
"You coward!" Quinn hissed, snapping her head to face the dwarf, glaring at him furiously. "It is so like you, to abandon something as soon as the going gets tough."
"I have been paid to defend the dungeon, not leave my bones in it." The dwarf replied, walking over to the enemy and turning around to face his comrades. He looked at the paladin, begging him without a word to listen to reason and surrender. Even though dwarves never had a habit of expressing their feelings, he did not wish to see them die.
"I agree." The ogre woman sighed, dropping her spiked club next to the dwarfs axe. "We have been paid in advance, and quite a hefty sum at that. But to defend the sixth floor of this dungeon. We failed at that. Even if we fight and die here, that outcome will not change. Please Filtz, I know you have plenty of reasons not to die here."
"Anyone else?" The paladin asked, though his mind was set on an answer the second the dwarf put his axe down.
The threes siblings threw their assassins daggers onto the pile, and went to stand next to their comrades. Filtz sighed, somewhat glad at the decision they had made. He turned and looked at the elf mage, the only one still hesitant to lay down her staff.
"What, what if he still kills us after we surrender? We can't guarantee that." She shouted, pointing her finger at Marcel, who had leaned against the edge of the hallway, already bored with the display.
"He might. But if there is even a small chance that we can walk out of here alive, I will take that gamble." The party leader answered, sheathing his blade back into its scabbard and extending his hand to Quinn. The mage looked down at her feet, before taking his hand and joining the group.
The black man looked up at them. "So? I take it you surrender?"
"Y-yeah. We surrender." Flitz answered, avoiding the man's gaze despite being significantly taller than him.
The party's hearts collectively sank as Marcel frowned at their answer bit, before shrugging. "A disappointing answer, but a very expected one. I am a man of my word. Leave."
Without another word, he turned around and walked back up the hallway, letting out another short whistle as he went. Gungams burst through the walls and ceiling of the hallway and followed their master obediently, never once glancing back at the stunned party, that up until a few minutes ago could have been their meal.
Not stopping to think or reflect on the situation, the adventurers quickly grabbed their discarded weapons and bolted up the hallway, running past Clyde and his unit who began to descent from floor five to floor six, running all the way to the exit of the dungeon.
[ ]
Solon was overjoyed when small village peeked from the behind the dunes. It was far from what he would consider a developed settlement, but at this point, he did not care at all. Soon, the caravan slowed to a halt, just in front of, what seemed like a market of sorts, and everybody stepped out.
"Thank you again Vur'z, for sharing your wagon and supplies with us." Solon said to the caravan leader, bowing his head slightly.
"Thank the two of you, for sharing stories and a good time with us." Vur'z replied, bowing back.
The caravan moved once more, leaving the pair behind and disappearing around the corner.
"Well Sheela. It has been an... experience." Solon said, extending his good hand to the former genie.
"Oh don't get ahead of yourself mortal. We are not on equal ground just because YOU believe you outsmarted me. I am the Goddess of the Sands!" She scoffed, looking down on him, partially due to her superior height, partially due to her over superior ego. Arms crossed and resting on her chest, it was evident she would not reciprocate his show of good faith. A few passerby's turned their heads at her loud statement, before moving on with their business.
Solon closed and retracted his hand, making a clicking sound with his mouth. "Oooo-kay then."
Before he could turn away, he stopped for a second, one last question on his mind. "You speak a lot of languages. Do you know what that beast thing was yelling at me before Vur'z knocked it cold?"
She raised an eyebrow, rubbing her chin. Solon wasn't use if she was trying to remember or if she was trying to decide whether to tell him or not.
"It thought you were an adventurer and mentioned something about having a big reward for its safe return or something like that. Saying its parents are adventurers too, I believe. Too late now though."
"Yeah." Solon nodded. "Well, so long Sheela, best wishes with your new life."
"Hah! I don't need wishes. I will amass a following and usher new rule of power and prosperity." She proclaimed boldly, garnering some more attention from the vendors and onlookers.
"Great. Looking forward to it. I'm sure your reign will bring even more sand to this desert." Replied Solon, before nodding and walking away, quickly blending into the crowd. He moved at a brisk pace, making sure to get out of ear shot before she could retort, relishing in the having the final word.
Sheela grinded her teeth, before swiftly turning on her bare heels and walking away in the opposite direction. Both quickly got swallowed up by the marketplace crowd, never once turning back as they parted ways.
(Notes: Let me start this off by saying: Screw new Reddit. A turd of a website, had to repost this more times than I would like, because the text would magically vanish every time I hit post.
Initially my thoughts were to have the adventurers on floor six absolutely dismantled by the lizards, but have decided against it. An enemy, in this case invading humans, are much more cool when they show thought and restraint, rather than just being a mindless meat grinding machine that kills everything. Plus if I was up against 10 bullet proof lizards that can bore through a brick wall, I would surrender too.
That aside, I hope you guys like this one. I have put in the link for the first chapter, in case any new readers find themselves here, so they don't have to start from the middle. I hope the link doesn't screw over Reddit again.)

2024.05.03 02:43 sartman23 Encryptid event question

Is it a common glitch for the sheepsquatch to be invincible the whole time, even with all pylons activated. The game just constantly flashes “activate the pylons” while all 3 pylons are active. Happened both the first two times I’ve started the event and it just feels like a waste of time. Just want the fixer plan

2024.05.03 02:42 36_39_42 Research and newspaper articles associated with the 1933 magenta crash posted on the internet archive by Alfredo Lissoni

Hello all; I see alot of argument and misinformation being traded back and forth in the comments lately, and I've been doing my best to get ahold of an expert so I'm not so lost with these documents but that has stalled.
I elected to instead Google translate a few of the associated research and news articles posted on the internet archive by Alfredo Lissoni to demonstrate some basic facts that are claimed to be associated with the case.
The whole case DOES NOT rely solely on the documents sent in the 90s. Ive seen this so many times its gonna make my head explode. If you parrot this falsehood; you are not being intellectually rigerous and reading everything you need to read.
Find Roberto Pinnoti and friends full claims about the 1933 case here.
https://forum-termometropolitico-it.translate.goog/259673-x-files-fascisti.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp
No where else that I can find ties everything together like this link. If your serious about connecting claims to documents you must read the whole thing.
I'm rather certain that every newspaper I'm looking for in relation to the link above is on the archive but I'm having alot of trouble connecting a claim with a document in most cases because well, I don't speak/read Italian yet( am learning slowly)
Here's a few documents from the archive that were plainly important. I very carefully went over the Italian and English text as many times as my brain will allow so you'll have to forgive a few spelling discrepancies. In most cases I was typing the words from the newspaper word for word because of the image quality. This is not an easy task. It's no wonder that no one has done all this for free yet; because it's alot. I only did .01 percent of the work here and It's full of leads to study the actual historical side of this case.
This is not my final conclusions on the case; in fact I've gone to the beginning like this because I've already moved on a long way and connected alot of puzzle pieces in the timeframe after RS33.
This element of the case is trivial compared to the intreague and power dynamics between the germans, italian fascists, the vatican and the Americans.
A name you should look out for in the link above is Galeazzo Ciano.
My work is more focused broadly on this person because his diaries would later be coveted by Allen Dulles.
Allen Dulles personally visited Italy multiple times for these diaries and I am going to prove this action was not only because of their political importance but also because of their connection to the activities of the RS33 research. This work here ultimately has nothing to do with that element of my research; this should simply posit that the case from a historical standpoint has a real event associated with it.
Now I will say that the rest of the work must be done to independently verify the claims in the link above; but what I've seen is enough for me personally to go forward on.
I'm not claiming to have proven anything here on this post. Let's get that extremely clear because im not going to argue about it.
It's simply information.
Translated document 1

1.)Since its inception, Guglielmo Marconi was designated head of the RS/33 Cabinet, although the well-known scientist had repeatedly expressed the opinion that the astronomer Gino Cecchini should be designated in his place. Mussolini - on the advice of Giovanni Gentile - appointed Marconi, a senator with proven fascist faith, who made him a prestigious and also politically reliable element.
Marconi, however, never participated in any of the sessions of the RS/33 Cabinet which were held during his lifetime, but constantly delegated one of his collaborators who was indicated as Doctor Ruggero Costanti Cavazzani, and who was evidently a cover name for a person who was never identified.
Other members of the RS/33 Cabinet (RS stood for Special Research) were, over time and for different periods, the professors: Dallauri, Pirotta, Crocco, Debbasi, Severi, Bottazzi and Giordani; as well as Count Cozza as organizational contact and logistical link with the highest hierarchies of the regime: Mussolini, Italo Balbo, Galeazzo Ciano.
The Cabinet met a few times to discuss phenomena now called ufological and which at the time were connected to military aeronautics activities. The most widespread opinion among experts was that the unknown aircraft were prototypes of English and/or French aircraft. Only on a couple of occasions was the question openly raised whether such objects were interspace flight instruments, and the question remained essentially open. The most substantial product of the Cabinet RS/33 was a dossier of about thirty pages which examined in detail all the Italian cases from 1933 to 1940. With the outbreak of the war (10 June 1940) the Cabinet RS/33 was even more militarised, and - what is very significant - the Nazi government asked the Italian body for news, data and dossiers several times.
Cabinet RS/33 also collected some photographs of unidentified flying objects and also a short film made in the Alps on the occasion of a notable sighting. This information is obtained indirectly from other sources, since the Cabinet archive was transferred to Germany and is currently untraceable.
2.)Pirotta, Pietro Romualdo. Botanico (Pavia 1853-Roma (1936). Vallauri, Giancarlo. Scientist (Rome 1882-Turin 1957). After attending the Naval Academy of Livorno, he graduated in engineering from the Polytechnic High School of Naples. In 1916, when the electrotechnical and radiotelegraphic institute of the navy was established at the Naval Academy in Livorno, V. became its head and animator of initiatives and research, of which one of the most wonderful fruits is the equalization of V., which represents the first analytical theory of the functioning of electron tubes. At the same time he dedicated himself to the construction of the Coltano radiotelegraph centre, one of the grandest and most modern of the time. The studies he conducted in the field of ferromagnetism are important, which led to the undisputed confirmation of the existence of rotating magnetic hysteresis, which was then very controversial in the international field.

9.)
XIV GAETANO ArtURO Crocco - Commemoration of B. Finzi. The inaugural speech of the second course was entitled: "From anti-aircraft to the orbital base". In it he presented the idea of the multi-stage to increase the range, he outlined the problem of re-entry for manned satellites and that of refueling in space.
Among the other publications I remember the one on «Physiological tolerance in jet missiles», the Nota lincea entitled «The temperature barrier in geodetic missiles», the one on «Questions on geodetic missiles» of the Mathematical and Physical Seminar of Milan. I also remember the beautiful summaries «The foundations of astronautics», «From the airship to the missile», «Previews of interplanetary nautical», «The first step towards astronautics» and many others, among which the Notes are worthy of particular note lincee « Formulations of Astronautical Mechanics » of 1955, that of the Pontifical Academy « Possibilities and limits of cosmonautics » of 1957. His inaugural speech at the VII International Astronautical Congress in Rome in 1956 was memorable, in which, starting from the artificial satellite , ventures into sidereal exploration, making use of the theory of relativity. His proposal for a "one-year exploratory tour of Earth-Mars-Venus-Earth" is also memorable, still known today as the "Crocco mission". The most favorable time for the mission will be June 1971,
In the Note of the Papal Academy of 1957 Crocco prophesies as follows: «The endogenous power supply of the propulsive jet is reserved for the final stage of travel, and the exogenous power supply is used to start from the earth, brake and return there. The intermediate stages will be traveled at uniform speed without consumption and the total distances that can be crossed will allow the choice of reconnaissance within a sphere containing 20,000 stars. The furthest will require 28 years of crew life to get there and back. Utopia! »... But, Crocco continues, «it has been said that our entire civilization blossomed from utopia».
After the flight of the first Sputnik, which realized what he had prophesied, he concluded, beyond the age of eighty, his miraculous activity as a scientist and prophet with a masterly speech at the VII International Communications Conference, held in Genoa in 1959, « The determinants of the astronautical era", with the one held in the solemn meeting of 1960 at the Lincei "Anticipations extra-terrestrials" and with his contribution to the work "The world of technology" of 1962 "The astro-cosmonautic moment". This is a small treatise on space activity from its origins to Gagarin's flight, in which he also delves into the theory of relativity and photonic propulsion.
Finally, I recall the titles of some studies and meditations on problems that go beyond aeronautics: "Scientific property", "The degradation of wealth", "The devil and atomic research" (history of the atomic bomb), "Discourse on the gradient" (concerning the exasperated acceleration of scientific progress), « Scientific premises for space law

Supponiamola di cinque, cioè “cinque volte quella che si risente in volo rettilineo o sulla superficie della terra, presa come unità. Trattasi di un elevato. ‘valore; di acrobazia pesante. In tale sopportazione. il peso del corpo del pilota diverrà mediamente di 360 chili, di cui 300 graveranno sul seggiolino e gli altri sui ‘comandi.’ Le sue braccia, distese sul volante o sulla leva di guida aggraveranno di una ventina di chili ciascuna e le gambe allungate verso la pedaliera dovranno complessivamente sostenere il sovraccarico di un centinaio di chili. Il cervello premerà per quasi sette chili sulla base del cranio; gli occhi affonderanno nell'orbita, generando il fenomeno del veder nero e le palpebre si appesantiranno come per sonno improvviso; i visceri s'insaccheranno nell'addome; la respirazione si farà difficile;

Suppose it is five, that is, "five times what is felt in straight flight or on the surface of the earth, taken as a unit. This is a high one. 'value; of heavy aerobatics. In such endurance. the weight of the driver's body will become on average 360 kilos, of which 300 will weigh on the seat and the others on the 'controls.' His arms, stretched out on the steering wheel or on the driving lever, will weigh on the the pedal set will have to support an overload of around one hundred kilos in total. The brain will press almost seven kilos on the base of the skull; the eyes will sink into the socket, generating the phenomenon of seeing black and the eyelids will become heavy as if due to sudden sleep; the viscera will become encased in the abdomen; breathing will become difficult;
the heart will have to push a liquid into the arteries which, due to the downward centrifugation, will take on five times the normal density.
everything will happen as if the pilot's body suddenly found itself on the surface of a planet, which we will call planet X, where the gravity was five times that of Earth. Such a planet does not exist in the solar system; because on Jupiter, the largest, it is just two and a half times; but the image is suggestive for the purposes of our exposition.
What anatomical and functional consequences does this temporary burden have on the human organism? Evidently there will be none if the flier's organs, as soon as the maneuver has ceased, are able to resume their functions with full immunity
11.)
11.)
From 1951 onwards, Crocco's scientific activity, now old, was aimed at outer space flight and astronautics. Already in 1923, to tell the truth, he had been ahead of his time with the Nota lincea «On the possibility of extra-atmospheric navigation», in which he proposed making use of the reaction caused by the outflow of the products of the disintegration of radioactive material. It was, essentially, ion propulsion, which has not yet been practically achieved today. In 1927 he had begun experimental research on solid propellants for rockets, in collaboration with his son Luigi, and had then resumed such research between 1932 and 1935. I would also like to point out the Note line of 1946 « On the application of atomic energy to interplanetary navigation ». In the inaugural speech of the first rocketry and astronautics course, held in Rome in 1951, he spoke about geodetic missiles, dealing with propellants and the calculation of trajectories

The archives of the Newspapers reflected by Pinnoti may be fully available on the archive but without more expert translation Services I'm not totally sure. Let this be a baseline That the documents most likely exist. There are more things available to those to speak Italian I simply need someone to read it all; figure out which pictures are which and translate appropriately.

2024.05.03 02:42 OkayAnd418 New York elder law attorneys??

Trusts/estates and elder law attorney from New York here. I do a lot of Article 81 guardianship work and am currently working on an Article 83 petition for the first time (transferring guardianship from New York to North Carolina). This is probably an idiotic question, but I read through the statute and cannot find the answer. I know I have to give notice to the interested parties, but how do I do that? Do I file an order to show cause along with the petition like you would do for an Article 81 and then serve it on the parties? Do I serve the incapacitated person who is already subject to the Article 81 guardianship? I feel like I’m really overthinking this….

How did the monkeys feel when Archie stopped them from shooting through walls? 50% aww dang. 50% yay safer buildings!
Does becoming a WLP mean you get to live forever? If so, how can I become one? Becoming a WLP is intense test that requires finding and bonding with a phoenix, only when you are accepted by the phoenix will your powers rise and you become a Wizard Lord Phoenix!
Part of me wonders just how fearless the Boss Bloons are if Lych was supposedly terrified of Glue Rat… Unless you are on its good side, the Gluerat should scare you!

2024.05.03 02:41 Affectionate_Bear461 Looking for advice for class action counsel

I have an existing class action lawsuit where class and counsel have not been appointed yet. The law firm (Law Firm A) I’ve hired have been a nightmare. I’m seeking advice as I’m having trouble finding any answers to my questions online. I will try my best to explain the situation. Please keep in mind, I don’t have a law BG.
A little bit of BG. Law firm A has no experience in class action lawsuits or cyber related matters. I am friends with “alex” at Law firm A which only has 2 lawyers. Alex offered to open a trust for me or buy a house in his name if they were to win. I am just realizing how illegal that is. It was all told verbally. Alex and I are no longer friends due to his personal insecurities and he refuses to speak to me in regards to this class action lawsuit. His law firm partner, whom I’ve never met, just reached out to me to speak on the law firm A’s behalf
Law Firm A filed to the district court in state A. Since the company requires hearings to be conducted in State B, Law Firm A did a joint partnership with Law Firm B located in State B. The filing to the district court was dismissed. Law firm A wanted to file at the 9th circuit, law firm B did not want to and so withdrew from the joint agreement. Law firm A continued with the filing and from my understanding, used law firm B’s name in order to have the filing accepted in state B. Law firm A does not have a license to practice in state B. Is this forgery? Is this illegal? Law firm B clearly withdrew and stated they did not want to be apart of the 9th circuit appeal.
Alex and I stopped talking 2 years ago. I figured he would hold true to our professional relationship on this case. The last I heard, there was a filing to the 9th circuit. I was not told if it was approved, I was not notified we were no longer in a joint agreement and that law firm B withdrew.
I have a few issues with this that I’m not sure are real issues. I was not asked if I wanted to file at the 9th circuit court of appeals. I was not told what that even means. I have not spoken to law firm B and have no idea what their experience is or if they’d be a good fit for the class action.
Moving on… I find out via google there was a hearing. Law firm A never told me there was a hearing, nor did they tell me if the results until I finally reached out asking why there have been absolutely zero updates in the last 2 years. I am not looking to be an annoying client, but it’d be nice to be reasonably informed of what’s going on.
The hearing resulted in a win. And now I need an amendment to be filed to the district court. I am now finding out, 2 years later that we don’t have local counsel since law firm B withdrew years ago. My dumbass assumed the case was done with. Had I been notified there was a hearing schedule for 2 years later, I would’ve done everything to change counsel.
Fast forward, I’ve told them I want them to stop work, that I want to withdraw from the contract I had with them, and that I want to change counsel. They said they cannot and will not stop work.
I’m having a hard time finding new counsel. I also feel like so much illegal crap is happening and I’m extremely uncomfortable staying with law firm A. I feel like I’ve been misled, neglected, and that they’ve withheld information from me and have not allowed me to make the correct decisions moving forward.
Another thing to note, law firm b withdrew bc they felt law firm A was too inexperienced, didn’t know what they were doing, and law firm A was unresponsive. Law firm b said law firm a’s initial filing to the district court showed that they didn’t know what they were talking about and clearly do not have any BG or understanding of the cyber matter. The claims that were overturned by 9th circuit were claims brought forth by law firm b so it seems like law firm a is just sitting back with their feet in the air and charging for work they didn’t do. I’ve brought all of these concerns to law firm A in which they responded, “you’re wrong on all counts”. And they don’t feel they need to inform me of anything.
Last thing, a second plaintiff was brought on as a lead plaintiff during the 9th circuit appeal. I did not agree to this. This 2nd plaintiff is out of the country and they refuse to give me their contact information.
I want to know what I can do in this situation. Do I have a right to fire them since no counsel/class has been appointed and I am the lead plaintiff? Do they have the right to continue work? Is what they’re doing illegal? Do they get paid if I transfer counsel? Should I have been informed of all the matters above?
Note: Alex is a scumbag. He’s had sex or relationships with so many of his clients and does free work for it. I strongly believe he’s a sex addict. He pays for sex, is sexist, and seeks out vulnerable women who need legal help. I know this bc of our friendship of 10 years. I wish I collected proof over the years. Their law firm handles mostly DUIs, accidents, criminal civil cases. But never anything with class action. A genuine friend would’ve directed me to a law firm that has the experience and the financial and personnel bandwidth. I feel insanely misled.

2024.05.03 02:40 2Dario Do anyone know some places I could find high quality clips of the 1966 tour?

Ok so I pretend on making an alternative cut of Eat the Document using the best quality clips of the tour that are out there and mix them with the low quality ones to make it as cohesive and possible and try to make it more like Dont Look Back (I know this will not be entirely possible due to all the crazy cuts that Dylan made at the time but I will try it anyway so a new fan could watch it without having to dig too far)
I know there is No Direction Home which is a blessing and the closest we ever got to a Dont Look Back 2 (since Scorsese actually kept all the dialogue and putted the scenes in order, and is in a watchable quality), but it’s still not enough as I know there are some clips in HQ that are not in the documentary
There is also the “Once we were brothers” documentary that contain some HQ clips, but still not too much
My question is if anyone know where I could find more loose clips from the tour that would help me out making this “definitive” version containing everything, also this will probably get obsolete in some years as its only a matter of time until someone just remaster the Pennebaker cut of Eat the Document

2024.05.03 02:39 West_Camel_8577 Reporter Ions Quantifier failure for TMT-labeled samples in PD

Reporter Ions Quantifier failure for TMT-labeled samples in PD
I am trying to use the Reporter Ions Quantifier node in PD 3.0 to quantify TMT 10-plex labeled samples, but I keep getting a warning "No MS2 spectra were quantified. Check selected reporter modifications, MS level and mass analyzer." I have the TMT label set as a dynamic modification for N-term of the protein and peptide and for K residues. I chose to set it as dynamic rather than static because I want to estimate how many peptides have the TMT label to estimate labeling efficiency. My samples were run on a Q-exactive Plus. I have the MS level set to MS2 and for the mass analyzer I have tried both "ion trap" and "single quad" as the QE+ has both but am not getting quantification with either of these settings.
I have run analysis of these samples before (several months ago) just to test some things out and was able to get *some* quantification at that point, but it seems like sometimes the quantification works and sometimes it doesn't depending on how PD feels that day.

2024.05.03 02:37 InterestingSwan348 [S] [USA-NY] Contax T3 Silver with Leather Case and Wrist Strap

Link to photos. $1900 paypal goods and services only buyer pays shipping.
This camera is in 100% perfect working condition. It was fully CLA-ed by Nippon Photo Clinic in December and I can provide the work ordereceipt for proof if needed. It has some cosmetic markings in the paint which do not affect it's function in any way. The lens, viewfinder, and LCD screen are extremely clean, crisp, and have no fungus, dust, separation, haze, or anything else. The flash works perfectly. All modes and custom settings work perfectly. I've shot about ten rolls on it and the focus is spot on, the meter is great, all functions are great. etc.
The reason I'm selling immediately after a CLA is that i got this camera in a trade. The guy didn't know that repairs could be done to this camera (it needed a new tooth and the lens cover was stuck) so he thought it was a brick. I do not like point and shoots so i had it fixed and am selling it. Feel free to reach out with questions

2024.05.03 02:35 Edmondg3 Could CLOV rally? Need people with high level market mechanics to check my math/idea

I am decent at market mechanics but I need more eyes on this idea. This idea forces brokers to exit some of the short position on CLOV. Flooding CLOV with some buy orders. This is a play on retail revoking their shares from being shorted in mass. This is all market mechanics.
There are 48Mil shares being shorted, spread out over the 495Mil shares outstanding. 56% of the Shares outstanding are owned by Retail 278Mil 19% by Institutions 96Mil 24% by Individual Insiders 119Mil
In theory if every retail trader revoked their shares from being short that would be remove 56% of the possible short shares. Leaving only ~200Mil shares left over from Institutions and Insiders available to short. I know we cant get every retail trader to revoke their shares short... hear me out..... I called Think or Swim and asked how they handle this. If you have shares with a short position on them and you revoke those shares from being shorted the broker does 2 things. They try to use their own shares on hand to take the other side of the short OR they must exit that short position at market and causing buy orders. Example: If you own 100k shares and lets assume all 100k are lent out being shorted. You revoke your 100k shares from being shorted. The broker tries to use its own shares to take the other side of the short, but if the broker doesn't have enough shares they exit that short position. So in theory if retail did this in mass. The brokers are forced to close out all those short positions it could cause a rally. Retail revokes their shares in mass. Then every broker is forced to start exiting the short positions that people have. These would be lots of buy orders.
Total Shares outstanding 495Mil Currently float 400Mil Shares Short 48Mil
Problems: 1) Not everyone retail trader would revoke their shares to be shorted at the same time.
2) Not everyone one of the retail shares are being lent out short. So even if every retail trader revoked their shares from being shorted there are lots of investomanagement shares being lent out that would not be forced to exit/buy.
So lets say theoretically every retail trader did revoke their shares the shortable shares available would plummet. IF ANYTHING This would make it harder for new shorts to enter the market keeping CLOV down.
I feel like there might be something there just need more peoples ideas. This is just an idea don't and questioning market mechanics.
Here is a link of the breakdown of the shares owned by retail showing retail owns 56% of CLOV. https://simplywall.st/stocks/us/healthcare/nasdaq-clov/clover-health-investments/news/clover-health-investments-corps-nasdaqclov-last-weeks-13-dec

2024.05.03 02:35 Nyxnia AITA for backing out of the bridal party the day before the wedding?

Full disclosure this will be a longer one as there is a lot of back story. I will change names to the letters of their first name.
My(26F) childhood friend 'L' (26F) is due to marry her fiancé 'B' (22M) tomorrow. I was asked over a year ago to be her maid of honour and I graciously accepted. My sister was also a bridesmaid as L has previously been super close with my family too. At the very start of it all each and every one of us said to her to tell us anything she needs us to do. For context I got married at 22 and we did everything for my wedding ourselves keeping a super low budget but beautiful wedding so I am familiar with the stress and costs of wedding planning.
Since then I have been involved in exactly one thing for this wedding and that was a small overnight trip to the city closest to where we live to pick her dress. Other than that I have had no involvement or information at all. I am an organised person and being disorganised gives me really bad anxiety which L is more than aware of. We have hardly seen each other at all and anytime we have I continued to ask questions and reiterate i was here to help her. Any questions I asked would get stressed out replies about not knowing yet and as it seemed to upset L I stopped asking things.
The lack of information spans so far that I, the maid of honour, don't even know what colour my dress will be. I know it will be too long on me as I'm a short person but I have not been allocated any time for a dress fitting to have this rectified. We have not had consults with hair or make up people which scares me as I have difficult hair. We have had no details around accessories, transport or any expectations on the day of the wedding.
This Monday I finally couldn't take it anymore. I had become so anxious not knowing I have not been sleeping well. I messaged L to find out what was going on. She gave me the answers to most of my questions and said she can shorten my dress easily herself that she could bring it over to my house on Thursday. She then followed up by saying she hasn't shared anything because we haven't asked. I genuinely don't see how details like dress fittings is something I should have to ask for. Regardless, I cleared my Thursday and even arranged for my sister to be here to make it easier for L. However, since Monday when we had this conversation L has not read or replied to any of my messages. She did not show up to my house on Thursday. I decided that was the last straw for me.
I wrote a rather long message to just explain how I was feeling and wish her well for the day but let her know I won't be there. To which she replied 'sorry you feel that way'.
I feel like I should have pulled out months ago as I started to get so frustrated with the lack of inclusion and information but I kept telling myself to be patient and it will get better. I may be the asshole for backing out the day before her wedding but the way I've been treated and excluded has made me feel so hurt I cannot convince myself to go. It seems like L doesn't want me to be apart of her day as I have been actively excluded. So AITA?
Additional details I couldn't figure out how to add in there :
I have repeatedly asked for catch ups to get on the same page and L continuously put it off
The entire event is hard as I don't really like B and I think he's awful to L but somehow she seems happy so I've been trying to be supportive
They had to rush their plans as they changed locations last minute so I convinced myself that's why we had no info but I've heard through others that they have information so now I'm not sure when stuff got organised.
Unsure if relevant but we've had very little to do with each other lately. Mostly because any time we hang out either B has to come or he doesn't come and relentlessly calls and texts L while we are trying to catch up.

2024.05.03 02:33 Spitethedevil Survey about reorganization

My sub-cabinet agency has two very large divisions (thousands of employees) which are planning to merge in January 2025. One division is happy to indifferent about this. The other division is mostly unhappy. Middle management is anxious about workloads; upper management is anxious about pecking order. We have seen an unusual high amount of retirements and transfers from the unhappy division. Recently, leadership sent an anonymous survey asking employees, among other things, if they planned to leave before the merger and if so to where. I found the question intrusive and not in line with typical HR practices. Thoughts?

2024.05.03 02:32 JohannGoethe Party 🎉🥂 overview

Party 🎉🥂 overview
Abstract
This page gives a snapshot of the overview of the overall “plan” of The Party 🎉🥂 and the long-awaited meeting-of-the-minds dialogues that ensue.
Mechanism
The current “mechanism” (2 May A69), as to how all 1,610+ geniuses and minds get into year A1111 (+3066), is that all the invited guests are going to just “appear at once” in the resort, via the mechanism of “waking up” in bed 🛌 there, whereupon after looking strangely around, in a confused 🤔 state, in their multi-room suite, which has about 80% of their books 📚, notes 📝, research, and work material, etc., ordered and arranged, therein accordingly.
Personal assistant
Each newly awoken guest, then hears a knock ✊ at the door 🚪, at which point they each meet their own personal resort ”assistant“, who explains why they are here, how they got here, and answers all the questions they have, states that they will procure any and needs they may require, throughout the course of the event, and gives them a holo-phone (hologram phone), and says that all they have to do is to speak 🗣️ into this device and it will answer any further questions you have:
https://preview.redd.it/ox90ruohy3yc1.jpg?width=1853&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a0f871da7af3829198efc19951d61b88f38031e
Length 40 days?
Originally, the length of the party was envisioned as one month. Somewhere along the way, however, the notion of “40 days and 40 nights“ became a more ideal number, thematic to one aspect of the conference topic being that of Egypto Alphanumerics (EAN) and why letter M, based on the sickle 𓌳 [U1], is value 40, and why each law-giver has to go onto a 40-valued pyramid, mountain, mound to establish the news laws for each society:
https://preview.redd.it/gaaiugj6w3yc1.png?width=1989&format=png&auto=webp&s=d32b1772ed2ad48e19240511ee402e12c48df645
As tabulated here:
Date Morality god Lawgiver Number Mountain
Egypt 4500A Osiris [440] Maat 𓌳 = 40 Pyramid [631] 👁️⃤
Greek 2900A Mu [440]; Dike [42] M = 40 Olympia [631] 🏔️
Hebrew 2300A Moses 40-days Sinai 🏔️
Christian 1955A Mary → Jesus 40-days Beatitudes 🏔️
Islamic 1400A Muhammad Age: 40 Jabal 🏔️
And here:
Type Number Value Name God Symbol Evidence
Egyptian 𓌳 𓎉 𓍥𓎉 𓐙𓌳𓏏𓂣 𓁧 {Maat} [42 laws] 𓍝 Khufu pyramid 👁️⃤ base length = 440 cubits (𓂣)
Phoenician 𐤌
Greek M, μ 40 440 Mu (μυ) Dike (Δικη) [42] ⚖️ Osiris (Οσιριν) [440]
Hebrew מ 40 90 Mem Moses (משה) [345]
Hindu Ma Mitra) (मित्र)
In other words, will people, culturally, as a whole, in the year A1111 (+3032), or 1,042 years from now, still be letter M morons? Who knows?
The Party
The following is the video scene, during the glamorous party at the residence of the mysterious Jay Gatsby's (Leonardo DiCaprio), wherein Carraway (Tobey Maguire) finally comes in contact with the infamous man himself, and before knowing who he is says “I actually received an invitation, and it seems that I’m the only one“:
https://preview.redd.it/qmtlzdgbw3yc1.jpg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b88617dcbf2f2a45f67fc2f54c1ddd147230265d
Regarding “invitations” it might be wise to only give out exactly 1,000 party invitations? Meaning that 1,610+ will be invited, but only 1,000 are invited to the “main” event party, whereas those left out are allowed to go to the “after-party” or side-parties.
Following this the “I’m Gatsby“ toast occurs which might be thematic to ”I’m Thims” toast scene that might occur, at the start of the party:
https://preview.redd.it/9cng72hdw3yc1.jpg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1d33f36bdb4c250f7b69db1775184a253f72d2c
Adams meets Thomson Example one
Take the following scenario:
“I have been studying science for ten years past, with keen interest, noting down my phrases of mind each year; and every new scientific method I try, shortens my view of the future. The last — thermodynamics — fetches me out on sea-level within ten years. I’m sorry Lord Kelvin is dead [48A/1907]. I would travel a few thousand-million miles to discuss with him the thermodynamics of socialistic society. His law is awful in its rigidity and intensity of result.”
Henry Adams (46A/1909), “Letter to Charles Gaskell”, May 2
Using the 10 Aug A66 full list) ranking, we have Adams (IQ:195#23) and William Thomson (IQ:185#52), aka ”Lord Kelvin”, which means that both Adams and Thomson will wake up on the 9th floor (see: resort design), but in rooms R23 and R52, respectively.
Therefore, when Adams learns that Thompson is on the same floor he is staying at, only 29 doors away, he will realize that he no longer has to walk a “few thousand million miles“ to speak with Thomson about the thermodynamics of a socialistic society, but only so many 100 or so feet.
Dialogues
Drafts: D1 (✂️), D2 (✂️), D3, D4, D5 ….
(add summary)
Party End?
It might be that at the stroke of midnight on the last of the 40-day party / event, similar to how Cinderella and the carriage revert back into the cleaner and pumpkin, so to do all the event participants revert back to their former state, but with a copy of all events recorded.

2024.05.03 02:31 ApprehensiveVideo190 Calculating expected return on a real stock

NOTE: I'm very new to finance and reddit posting. lmk if I did something wrong.
I'm being tasked with finding the total risk of a stock for an investment decision school assignment. Right now, I'm trying to find the diversifiable risk (total risk = diversifiable + undiversifiable, right?), and I need to find the expected return from April 30th, 2023-2024. However, from what I understand, I need probability distributions in order to find the expected return. How do I find that for REAL investments? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

2024.05.03 02:31 Sh0dan_v3 Lemokey L3 issues, stay away from Keychron, a scam company

I can't believe that in this day and age a keyboard for over 200eur can have such a shi* quality control AND then the company that makes it, doesn't give a damn.
I'm writing this so that you don't fall for it and order from them.
Keychron and their sub-brand Lemokey have few 10s of models, some of which are very similar. They have more keyboards than Logitech and Razer combined and they use some amazing quality cases, Gateron switches, sound dampening etc. But, DO NOT BUY from them and here is my story.
Lemokey L3, out of the box has HW issues (probably PCB) with knob and macro keys, why I paid the nice extra for that model. Macro keys sometimes execute just first keypress, sometimes more, but never the whole thing (even if you test with 3 keys for example). And WELL known issues (which I thought that it won't happen to me) - Knob doesn't work on wired mod, it detects randomly every 5th, 8th, 12th etc. actuation step - basically keyboard is useless to me other than for just typing unless I use it in wireless mod and I don't want that on primary PC. Their support is less that useless, I bought it from French domain expecting full EU warranty in case of need as required by law and yet I get obviously google translate mails from China. Last response was over 2 weeks ago where they said they are testing if this happens (WTF, they are testing on same model, but different keyboard?!) and they promised to get back at me by the end of that week (which ended 2 weeks ago). Of course, in the meantime I did EVERYTHING; firmware, different cables, ports, PCs, even operating systems (same issues on Linux, so it's not software issue)....
Otherwise the keyboard is really amazing for typing, switches feel like nothing else (Gateron Jupiter Banana) and yet, had I bought for the same money some 'gaming grade' massive produced crap, their support would resolve it fast, and even better, I would be able to return it for a full refund, no questions asked.
Sorry for ranting, but this isn't a 15eur generic keyboard and potential buyers should be aware that
  1. they have no quality control
  2. there are issues with their products and it could happen to you (check reddit)
  3. their support doesn't have your back
I've send them a more serious email and if this doesn't get resolved/refunded within a week, I'm reporting it to a credit card provider.
EDIT: Also for about 10 days now left side of 'enter' key gets stuck if you hard press (probably faulty stabilizer), so I have to be gentle when typing...

2024.05.03 02:31 Fit-Internet4674 Has anyone seen this kind of error before?

Has anyone seen this kind of error before?
Odd error I ran into refreshing my Canadian CIBC accounts today. Has anyone seen this before?
Addition notes, unfortunately for CIBC, I have to refresh daily in order to update balances and transactions. I am hoping the data sharing/permissions with Plaid get to a point similar to my wife’s RBC accounts which I only added once since originally setting up the app and never had to refresh information again to date. Not a huge deal for me because I generally do weekly check in’s. But still definitely something that could make me question renewing for $100 USD overtime.
Besides my side note above, this is an error I have never seen before. Makes me nervous CIBC is no longer syncable which would be bad news for my ability to continue with Monarch.
Any thoughts, comments or insight would be appreciated.

A variety of Dr. Litwa’s past courses are also available on his website here. Topics include Marcion, Carpocrates & Secret Mark, The Naassenes, Nag Hammadi, and more to come!
One of Dr. Litwa’s current goals is to make knowledge accessible to a wide public audience. So beyond the AMA and the upcoming webinar, and his previously mentioned blog, he has a host of other resources available, including his YouTube channel, where he frequently uploads both short-form and long-form content about his scholarship. Dr. Litwa also has a Patreon, with membership tiers ranging from early access to his videos, access to his academic reviews and articles, signed physical copies of his books, and even personal, one-on-one weekly language instruction with him directly!
Finally, Dr. Litwa’s many published books are available here for purchase. Particularly affordable are his Iesus Deus: The Early Christian Depiction of Jesus as a Mediterranean God, his Found Christianities: Remaking the World of the Second Century CE, and his How the Gospels Became History: Jesus and Mediterranean Myths the last of which is also available on Audible!
The AMA will take place on Wednesday, May 15th. The AMA post will go up in the morning, and solicit questions throughout the day until around 8:00 PM EST, after which the questions will be sent to Dr. Litwa who will make a response to them on his YouTube channel that will likely be posted the following day.

2024.05.03 02:28 BeforeRomano How much busier does Disneyland get during Oogie Bash?

Hey there! I have a surprise trip booked for September 1-5 for my boyfriend's birthday. We went to World last year, and now we're hooked on the parks, and couldn't help going to Land this year.
I just noticed Halloween events are starting early this year, and considering one of my park days is Tuesday will likely be during a day of the Oogie event. I know my boyfriend will be ecstatic to know since he loves Halloween, but I'm a bit nervous since I've heard it can be a busy time for the park, especially on an event day. We have park hopper and genie, and won't be doing the event, so in the event it does happen we'll just spend the rest of our time at Land when DCA "closes," but I've heard some people say a lot of people do the same thing, resulting in a very packed night at DL. I know we'll have a great time regardless, but I figured I'd ask to see what I'm in for historically.
This group has been a big help for my over-planning self, and I'm sure I'll be posting again with more questions in the future. Thanks in advance!
