Finally decided to upgrade iPad Pro 11” (2018) to iPad 13” (2024). One of the first order of business is deciding on a case / protection combo for this expensive machine:
The Smart Folio is a first contender especially if keyboard is not a must. Unfortunately, smart folio type protection weights 400g+. This will make iPad pro somewhere in 1kg range as device.
The second contender is a magic keyboard, however this alone adds 600g+ which will bring iPad Pro 13” close to Macbook air territory.
The obvious route that I ended up with is a decal (Qskinz/Etsy decal/dbrand) with magic keyboard. When the iPad is in free motion, it will have 0 added weight. When it is in transport / desk, it will be in the MKB case. I also bought a cheap $5 tablet stand to prop up the iPad when MKB is not in use. Thoughts?

However, I'm worried about potential memory issues if the transcription process takes longer than expected, leading to a large buffer accumulating in RAM. How should I handle this effectively?

Makeup and I have always had a weird relationship. I had that weird “Not like other girls” phase as a tween/early teen where my relationship with things considered feminine was tenuous at best. By my mid-to late teens, though, I’d softened up to the idea and would let my friend drag me into Sephora to put stuff on me. And in fairness, I did actually like it — though we normally kept it to a more natural look. Same wound up happening with prom.
The most I ever really invested in was lipstick and foundation because I was pretty certain my looks were only good for natural applications. Besides, I’m shy and hate being looked at.
And yet. I adore bold or dramatic looks, both in makeup and fashion Think Pidgin Doll, even some drag makeup or the type of goth looks sone people into metal/vampire fashions lean towards. I mean, I don’t think I could ever wear those even if I tried but even if I could, I’d need to start off simple and small anyway, right? The problem is I can’t for the life of me “get” makeup. I try and watch tutorials to understand what products are which and how they’re different from each other but it’s like the words are just sounds and they’re hitting a wall in my brain. I try reading and zone out.
I’m black with cool undertones so I feel like I really need to do the research just to figure out good brands for me, never mind how all the cool undertone references I find just used white models.
But starting seems to be difficult for me — and I know it’s gotta be me making it harder than what it is. But also, I can’t help but wonder if I’m subconsciously making it harder on myself. TL:DR - I will probably never be able to live as a woman because nothing is happening and I don't have a way to fix it.
I'm a 23 y/o transfemme.
I've been on hrt for a year and three months now and I have had zero changes. I've talked with my friends and I have pictures from just before and throughout the last year and three months - nothing's is different as far as I can tell or as far as my friends can tell.
I guess my HRT levels aren't good? I got checked every month when I started until 4 months in and now it's every three months. My first doctor that I started with never said whether or not my levels were specifically too low or anything except for my first test with him, which made sense since I was on low dose mono therapy. My new doctor always say something is wrong with my levels, telling me that they were way too high and my dosage was way too high and now she keeps saying that they are too low after she reduced and modified my dosages. I want to trust my new doctor because she is widely regarded in my area as the best hrt doctor. As for now, I recently started injections and have been on it for 4 weeks.
I also worry that it may just be because my body is going to change with my genetics. Even as a man, my genetics have cursed me with awful traits like REALLY wide shoulders, big hands and big feet. And I know that cis women also can have large feet and broad shoulders and big hands but I can bet that 99% of cis women don't wear a size 14M/15.5W shoe. I also started having my hair thin in My freshman year of high school, so that's cool - a year and half of Finasteride hasn't done shit for that. There is also my facial hair, no matter what I do - I always cut myself when shaving, No matter what. I've been trying to get into a dermatologist for months now to see if I have some fucked up skin or something because it's getting to the point where I often find my self crying because I hate the feel of my stubble. Same with body hair, my skin always breaks out into hives and rashes when I shave my body, no matter what cream and razor I use.
My friends and (most of) my coworkers refer to me as a woman and use she/her pronouns but I can't help occasionally feel contempt as it feels like they are mocking me almost. I know they aren't but it definitely feels like they are. And for the coworkers that doesn't do that, they often look at my she/her pronoun pin and then proceed to use them/them for me, and according to my coworker friends - just use he/him when I'm not around.

I like to listen to a whole bunch of different music genres, but I feel that a lot of my knowledge is shallow because of this. I would love to get some decent recs to add to my playlist. I have been in a country mood lately with the great weather. Some genres I like: r&b, pop punk, metalcore, rock, hiphop, OSTs, etc.
I am not much of a gamer, but I am willing to try some out with you if we happen to click. The main issue that I have is that I cannot remain interested all that long, and become bored too fast. I am not really into competitive games though, since it sounds like a bother to maintain. My dream job would be to become an author with enough success to have a sustainable and secure future, but I find myself never writing when I am off work lol. I am hard of hearing; throwing that out there because it could be cool to meet others as well.

In my game I have the ability to play with keyboard or controller. What I’m unsure on is how to tell the player what button or key to press. By this I mean let’s say you have a controller connected and you want to use that. Would you list the controls during the tutorial as “press enter or X button to interact”? Or is that considered unprofessional?

I’ve seen a good amount of discourse on some of the puzzles in KEY, but I wanted to share my thoughts on a few specific puzzles (good and bad) to see if other people shared my struggles/opinions.

1. The locked book in the cafe - The graphic design for this clue is incredibly flawed in my opinion. Why would you have lines drawn from one point of the compass to a specific number if you didn’t want players to conclude that number is connected to that specific point. (Looking at you, 4). I spent probably two hours on this puzzle thinking I was supposed to count the number of pictures on the wall or plants in a specific corner…not cool.
   
2. Coffee making - aside from the wonky mechanics that take some getting used to and the annoying flipping back and forth to different recipes, I didn’t mind this puzzle. I honestly kinda like the fact that the latte art is so frustrating because it has created a hilarious meme for the game that I think every ND game needs. I lowkey feel like HER made it infuriating on purpose for this reason.
   
3. The gold artifact in the museum - I feel like this one might be more user error on my end, but I really did not understand that I was supposed to search for Rs around the town, nor did I think I was supposed to click the little button at the bottom to trigger the mechanism. I swear I had the right combination for so long but kept second guessing myself because I assumed it would open on its own.
   
4. The trunk in the antique store - I just couldn’t find the little button on the side and it stumped me for a good hour, but I will say once I got it open, the gem sliding puzzle was very fun and a very unique puzzle that I quite enjoyed.
   
5. The puppet show - Frustrating, but not enraging like some of the other puzzles. I think some more hints as to what props were needed could have helped a lot without making it too easy.
   
6. The jewelry safe - I understand what they were trying to do, and I think it was a very good puzzle, but it definitely needed better guidance from the clues in the store. I don’t know how anyone could have solved this without the strategy guide or hints, but kudos to you if you did.
   
7. The dean’s wall - I was so excited when I finally realized this was like the Bento puzzle in SAW and I knew exactly what I supposed to do, only to be incredibly disappointed when I had a correct solution about 3 different times, but it wasn’t the EXACT solution the game would accept. Very defeating.
   
8. The alchemy puzzle - I was losing steam at this point so maybe I could have solved this on my own, but I struggled a lot with understanding what the book was trying to tell me and eventually looked up the solution after about 30 minutes. BUT this puzzle was pretty fun once I knew what I needed to do and I really appreciate what they were trying to do.
   
9. The riddles in the alchemy book - I really liked the candle puzzle and the moon/knight puzzle, but once I got to the clock puzzle I just threw my hands up and said absolutely not and almost immediately looked up the solution lol
   
10. The key weight puzzle - My only complaint about this is that I don’t think it makes logical sense in real life? If you don’t know how much one key weighs, you have no idea what the order would be, right? So if you have to get solution by random guessing until Nancy says “that’s right!” How does Nancy know?
    

Okay, I think I’ll leave it with those 10 for now, but would really love to know y’all’s thoughts as well!

I’m a paraplegic from a spinal cord injury 35 years ago. I’m 5’10” and weigh about 200 lbs. Like a lot of paraplegic wheelchair users, I’m very thin and bony from the waist down, muscular and heavy up top. I don’t have issues with skin breakdowns, but I am dealing with arthritis in my shoulders. I’m a side sleeper to relieve pressure on my backside and use a CPAP for sleep apnea.
My old mattress was a DynastyMattress New Cool Breeze 12-Inch GEL Memory Foam I bought from Amazon for $329. Along with a Leggett and Platt adjustable base and a bamboo topper, it served me well for 11 years.
After researching online, I decided to buy the Boring mattress in Twin XL. Just before I hit the purchase button, I remembered a Reddit post where the founder of Boring was offering a discount to offset the price rise on their products. I was still within the two week limit, so I messaged u/daehee on Reddit. It was a Saturday evening but he replied with a discount code 7 minutes after I messaged him. After I ordered the mattress, there was an online issue with sales tax that daehee explained to me. He also let me know when the mattress would ship.
The mattress arrived on time. It was packed very well and set up quite easily. My initial impression is that the mattress is well constructed and without any offensive odor. The top is very soft while the rest of the mattress is firmer. The springy feeling adds some bounce that is different from the more dense feeling of my old mattress. After reading some reviews about the firmness of this mattress, I put my old topper and a mattress protector on beneath some new sheets. I checked how the mattress worked with the adjustable base and found it accommodated all positions
Night 1: The mattress is a combination of soft top and bouncy firmness beneath. It made turning and positioning myself a bit more difficult compared to my old foam bed. There was also a squeak from one of the springs, not too bad but I did notice it when I turned over on my side. The initial firmness of the mattress made it harder to find a comfortable position on my side and it was a while before I fell asleep. I usually wake several times a night to reposition myself, but with the Boring mattress I only woke twice. Fitbit told me that I got almost 8 hours of sleep as compared to my usual 6.
In the morning, I felt some general stiffness I don’t usually have. I also had an ache in the shoulder I slept on. The FAQ says it takes time for a mattress to break in so perhaps it will get softer after 30 days or so. If not, a thicker topper is always an option.
Overall, I’m quite pleased after my first night on the Boring mattress. It's a welcome change from my old mattress. I’ll set reminders to update this post at 50 days, 100 days, and 1 year.

I won't be using it use it for gaming, just work. But I'd like something that has some nice weight to it and feels study. I have very wide hands.
Bonus if it has a cool futuristic / robotic aesthetic and can match my clear atomic purple and black aluminum mechanical keyboard. I don't particular like the look of the perforated mice but if it checks every other box I'm open to it.
