2024.05.17 09:23 destinydream_er Fixing Childe’s cons?

as childe fans, we must unfortunately accept the reality that his constellations are mid. Of course, it’s good for people who can’t afford to have constellations, since there’s nothing really worthwhile, and they aren’t REALLY terrible. But compared to new characters, his constellations aren’t very worthwhile. So i had an idea - what if he had better constellations? I had some ideas as for what I would change in his cons, so feel free to tell me what you think :) I’m not gonna list the original constellations effects, so if you don’t know i suggest looking it up…im not typing all that New c1: decreases cooldown by 25%, additionally increases his skill’s max duration by 5 secs. his original c1 is pretty fine on its own, so i didn’t change too much
New c2: when opponents affected by riptide are defeated, restores 4 energy and unleashes an additional riptide dealing AOE damage equal to a high percent of his atk.
c3 and c5 stay the same obviously.
New c4: extends riptide’s duration to 25 secs. Additionally, when tartaglia is off field, triggers riptide every 1.5 seconds. Hitting opponents affected by riptide increases his normal and charged atk by 30%. Many people think his c4 is the biggest problem in his cons, and i see why. So i decided to give him some more off-field support utility, while also not ruining his onfield nuke.
new c6: If tartaglia enters the melee state within 30 seconds of using his ranged burst, the following effects will be gained: -All riptide’s crit rate and crit dmg will be increased to 100/160 respectively -every second he is in melee mode, his dmg increases by 2%, up to a max of 100%. -after the duration of his melee stance ends, there will be no cooldown. His original c6 is great if you want to make him a solo character, but it’s still kind of meh in general. So i gave him a lot more damage potential in his new c6.
Also, his kit has like 5 different types of riptide, so my bad for not specifying. 💀 so that was all, feel free to share yalls thoughts :)

How Do Play-to-Earn Games Work?
P2E NFT games are based on the idea of providing true digital ownership to the players. Unlike traditional games in which in-game assets and characters have no real-world value, NFTs enable players to win tradable digital items with a clear record of ownership on the blockchain ledger. P2E games are like traditional games, but with a twist: you OWN the cool stuff you earn. Battle, explore, and build a collection of valuable NFTs (digital items) that you can trade or sell for real money. It's gaming that pays.

2024.05.17 09:11 eichy815 Which of Rory's boyfriends do you think would have been the most pro-LGBT+ in his views?

As a gay dude, one thing I keep coming back to during my rewatches is the notion that Lorelai and Rory both would have welcomed the idea of hanging out with me (if I'd been a character on the show). IRL, I'm about three years older than Rory's character was (I started college during Season 1) -- and I vividly remember 2000-2007 being a time period when us LGBT+ teens/young adults could still be wary of which classmates would accept us as potential friends.
Granted, the Sherman-Palladinos peppered their scripts with a lot of lame throwaway "gay jokes." But, on the other hand, Lorelai and Rory were very close with Michel (who was presumably out to them in the OS, even though his homosexuality wasn't confirmed onscreen until AYITL).
Now, given how socially-liberal Rory and Lorelai both were, I think it's fair to assume that Rory wouldn't have tolerated being in a relationship with a guy who was socially-conservative. Certainly not someone who subscribed to the Pat Buchanan / Rick Santorum schools-of-thought on gender relations.
I'm possibly an oddball in that I liked all three of Rory's major boyfriends (and not just because of their good looks), and I could picture any of the three of them being accepting of me and treating me like just one of the guys.
But, based on the show's overall characterizations of them, who do you think was the most pro-gay out of Rory's boyfriends?
A.) Dean
B.) Jess
C.) Logan
And what qualities about them would prompt you to select them as being characterized as such?

2024.05.17 09:01 Fistful_of_Soup What if we reworked Jenos' Stellar Wind?

My idea is this: Stellar Wind is pretty much an incredibly self serving ability. He is a SUPPORT character, and as we all know the term "support" does not explicitly mean healer. A support character can help with earning the team eliminations as well as healing. They can apply shields to others with cards on certain abilities. They have numerous CC abilities to either slow down enemies, or completely hold them in place. There are a number of champions whose ability animations make it seem like they should be doing more than the ability description allows. Although it's a bit of a sidenote, Inara is a great example. Her wall, when activated, can apply knockup to herself (with supporting cards), but not her enemies. While it clearly accelerates quickly enough from the ground to do this, it also applies no damage. Sidenote aside, I think it would be an interesting and sensible addition to add an extra effect to Jenos'Stellar Wind that will allow him to temporarily boost the movement speed of allies within a certain radius upon activation of the ability. If you think about it, it's a "wind" based ability, and while the air beneath his feet is affected by this ability, the wind attribute implies that the influence of the ability could be expanded to the air further surrounding him. This change could offer you the chance for you and an ally to rescue someone who is in trouble on point, allow another of your support abilities, Void Grip, to be more useful when you and an ally are chasing down a fleeing enemy, as well as assist allies who need to disengage from a fight quickly in order to take cover and be healed. It will allow for more tactical positioning of your allies at a faster pace, letting them move somewhere faster, even if it's not in the direction you're headed. I will set up a limited example now: Map: Bazaar Mode: Siege Scenario: You as Jenos are under the gate in front of the capture point. There is an Inara under attack on point, trying to contest, however, she is outnumbered and you do not have the capacity to change that fact. A friendly Bomb King has returned from spawn and is now next to you. You activate Stellar Wind, allowing them to quickly move to a flanking position on the side of the capture point, and you move in the opposite direction, allowing both of you the opportunity to disorient the team while maintaining a safe distance, yourself. The Bomb King is now in position to stun enemies near the Inara, and begin the offensive, maybe 1 second sooner, as you cast your heal on the Inara. Some enemies might back off, others might try to attack the solo Bomb King or you, who has been isolated from your group. Scenario 2, same map and initial situation: You're able to apply a heal to the Inara through the wall, she is able to use Impasse to block a couple of sources of incoming damage, and as you get within range, you activate Stellar Wind, applying a movement speed bonus to Inara, allowing her to quickly move around the corner of a wall, and escape to safety so that she may begin to heal.
So, as you can see, this has the potential to SUPPORT (and this is the key word here) your allies by offering them additional maneuverability options during combat. Whether it's ultimately an offensive or defensive measure is left up to the discretion of the player. Although the duration of the effect, the bonus % of the effect, and the radius of the effect will have to be workshopped a bit, I believe he CAN do more to SUPPORT his teammates, primarily by allowing his Stellar Wind to be more than just a way to retreat quickly, jump to greater heights, or to close in for an elimination. I would like to know what you all think about the idea of some abilities doing much less than what they seemingly COULD do. Jenos' Stellar Wind and Inara's Impasse are two prime examples of abilities that I personally think could do more, given the nature or animation of the ability, but just don't.

2024.05.17 08:58 ScaryTravel4766 [TOMT] [MOVIE] A cheap horror movie sequel in the mid 2010s about a masked killer

It was a cheaper horror film that was a sequel ual.. Started with the killer in an ambulance waking up and destroying the ambulance and police car following it.. It then takes place in a hospital where he goes around killing everyone while the main character is trying to get medication? The only other thing I really remember is I think the first film ended with them burning him or using a chainsaw on him, and how he was an “urban legend” of the area..
It was a half-way solid movie, would love if anyone has an idea

2024.05.17 08:57 Greene_Mr Question about differences in animation/mocap/quality of VFX/performance for "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law"?

For a little background: I'm not a VFX person, but I do know a bit about the insane process regarding clients and vendors and... all that. My heart goes out to every single artist in that pipeline who has to deal with seemingly arbitrary changes only for the work to get torn apart by people who don't understand it when it comes out.
So, for professionals who know the tools, who probably have some idea of what goes on behind-the-scenes in the shows, can probably, even if they didn't directly work on the show, hazard a guess as to reasons for things (and whom DEFINITELY have more of an ability to see those things than I could) -- I have a couple of questions concerning the Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, from 2022.
I know they used something like four different vendors to bring to life the She-Hulk character assets; even before the VFX breakdowns were posted online, somebody in the know pointed out to me which ones Weta did, for example. I know the methods of motion/performance capture for the character differed between inertial and (I can't remember the other one's name, please forgive me), sometimes between sequence to sequence, whether exterior or interior. I know they had a stand-in whose work, despite what was said in the press, was apparently deemed unusable by the actual animators as reference once it got to that point, and I know at least one VFX source complained the main show director wasn't listening to the on-set VFX supe in how best to create an effect, etc.; said VFX supe won an Oscar for Dune.
Having said those things, the quality is remarkably high, although the most criticised VFX work was done by Digital Domain and TRIXTR on the show -- the Weta sequences (despite my source telling me they were brought on to one sequence almost at the last minute as added work) were generally the highest-quality, had the best facial animation capture, skin texture, etc. (From what I could see, Digital Domain's best sequence was the one in the retreat episode.) I know assets were shared -- I also know DD had a harder time trying to keep up with the main actress's performance than Weta did, as it's a bit more complex than their previous gold-stand of Josh Brolin's Thanos.
Would big differences be down to clients jerking vendors around to an extent that one sequence by one vendor doesn' match another vendor's, or is it down to the tech used? Do you feel actors in mocap are generally as informed as they should be about how best to perform in motion/performance-capture settings? And, this seems to be a common thing, why shave down the motions and energy of a mocap actor's performance in post, when they could just as easily tell the actor to dial it down before filming and thus not have to adjust movements so much even as opposed to the size of the assets they're being transferred to?
Is there something that could be done to make the process a bit smoother? (Yes, pre-planning is a no-brainer.) Do VFX supes need more control over their sets on shows, in order to keep down costs and raise the standard of excellence? Do actors need to be told a bit more on how animators actually modify their performances, and how they can best work with that knowledge?
I know it's a lot all tumbling out, but it's just a bunch of questions and thoughts that have been on my mind. I felt only a bunch of experts in the art could inform me of any possible answers. :-) I'm just gonna listen to y'all with open ears.

New player here, but why can't we respec are noob mistake cards. It seems once you hit 50 if your build sucks you have to start a new character.
Can anyone think of a reason this is a bad idea?
I'm also the type of person who really likes to try new build or wacky builds. But unless your lvl 1500 your limited by your cards.
Make a item in the game we can buy or find to allow a respec of cards maybe?

Hush Now: Unveiling Skyted's Voice-Absorbing Masks and the Future of Sonic Privacy
In today's hyper-connected world, privacy is a precious commodity. We carry sensitive information on our phones, navigate crowded digital landscapes, and often find ourselves yearning for a moment of quiet communication in an increasingly noisy world. Enter Skyted, a company taking a bold step towards sonic seclusion with their innovative voice-absorbing masks.

https://preview.redd.it/fcsrpjkxnx0d1.png?width=503&format=png&auto=webp&s=1da4916c9a697665790e3c798ff123b24675fd8c
Ditch the Tin Can Effect: Crystal Clear Conversations on the Go
Think back to the last time you were on a plane, desperately trying to have a confidential phone call while surrounded by fellow passengers. The "tin can" effect, where your voice seems amplified and everyone around you can hear every detail, can be incredibly frustrating. Skyted's solution? The "Mobility Privacy Mask" and "Hybrid Silent Mask." These masks utilize cutting-edge technology inspired by jet engine noise cancellation. Embedded within the mask's design are materials that effectively "absorb voice frequencies," creating a soundproof bubble around your mouth. This allows you to speak at a normal volume, confident that your conversation remains private, even in the most echoey environments.
Beyond the Airplane: A Mask for Every Scenario
The applications for Skyted's voice-absorbing masks extend far beyond airplane travel. Imagine the following scenarios:
· The Focused Office Worker: Open-plan offices can be breeding grounds for distraction. Skyted's masks could empower employees to take confidential calls or brainstorm ideas without fear of colleagues overhearing.
· The Call Center Whisperer: Call centers are notoriously loud environments. These masks could provide much-needed peace of mind for call center agents, allowing them to focus on customer interactions without the added stress of a noisy environment.
· The Gamer on Mute: Gamers often need to communicate with teammates while others in the household are trying to sleep. Skyted's masks could be a game-changer, allowing late-night gaming sessions without disturbing housemates.
Founder Stéphane Hersen envisions these masks becoming commonplace in a variety of situations. His vision extends beyond simple privacy; he sees these masks fostering a culture of focus and increased productivity in environments where noise pollution is a constant challenge.
Function Over Fashion (For Now)
Let's address the elephant in the room (or rather, on the face). The design of Skyted's masks currently leans towards functionality over fashion. Hersen himself acknowledges the resemblance to Bane from the Batman franchise, a character known for his imposing mask. However, the ability to communicate privately in a variety of situations is a compelling trade-off for some. The company might explore more aesthetically pleasing designs in the future, but for now, the focus remains on functionality.
The Ethical Considerations: A Muzzle or a Microphone Shield?
The concept of a voice-absorbing mask raises some ethical concerns. Could they be misused to silence dissent or create a culture of fear? Hersen emphasizes that Skyted's masks are designed for privacy, not suppression. They are intended to allow for confidential communication, not to stifle free speech.
The Future of Sonic Privacy: A Glimpse of What's to Come
Skyted's voice-absorbing masks represent a fascinating step towards a future where sonic privacy is paramount, even in the most public spaces. These masks offer a unique solution to the ever-present challenge of unwanted listeners. Whether you are a business professional on the go, a gamer seeking ultimate focus, or someone simply yearning for a quiet conversation in a noisy world, Skyted's technology offers a compelling solution.
Enhancing Your Entertainment with Premium Electronics
Speaking of focus and immersive experiences, if you're looking to upgrade your entertainment setup after a long day of masked communication, consider exploring TrueGether, a leading online marketplace akin to sites like Shopify. TrueGether boasts a wide variety of high-quality used electronics at competitive prices. From TVs and home audio systems to vintage electronics and portable headphones, TrueGether offers a treasure trove for tech enthusiasts. So, while Skyted's masks ensure your voice remains private, TrueGether can equip you with the perfect electronics to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet after a busy day.
The question remains: Are voice-absorbing masks the answer to our sonic woes? While the design might take some getting used to, the potential benefits for privacy and focus are undeniable. As technology evolves, we can expect to see more sophisticated and user-friendly designs emerge. One thing is certain: the conversation around sonic privacy has just begun, and Skyted's voice-absorbing masks are sure to spark further discussion and innovation in this intriguing field.
Let the conversation continue! Share your thoughts on voice-absorbing masks in the comments below. Would you wear one for more privacy? What are your concerns, if any?

2024.05.17 08:42 dapper_wastelander Creating a save game post-heist for future play throughs.

I have too many ideas for characters I want to play, but I am so, soooo tired of the heist, because of the chain of unskippable cutscenes and out-of-body scenarios before you can resume your open-world fun. Given that I've already experienced all 3 life paths and corpo is my favorite, I'm thinking of rushing a char past all this stuff without taking any perks or attributes, then creating a manual save for future chars. What do I miss out on if I do this? I think the only decisions with lasting impact all happen around the All Foods mission, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm forgetting something.

2024.05.17 08:35 Jaded_Being_1462 How do you feel about the English translation of LOTM

Until I started subtitling the audiobook, I never considered reading the English version of LOTM. To my surprise, the quality of the English translation seems somewhat 'disrespectful' to the original book. With the money Qidian made from it, they should have hired at least one English literature graduate, if not three English literature professors, to proofread it.
Even though I'm not a native English speaker, I couldn't resist the urge to translate some parts in my own way. One thing led to another, and now I have a brand new translation of Chapter One.
Now, I have a question for my fellow fans of LTOM:
Here is another thread of mine discussing subtitling LOTM's audiobooks: https://www.reddit.com/LordofTheMysteries/comments/1csz252/dramatized_audiobooks_with_english_subtitles/, in case you're interested.

Ouch!
Ow…ouch!
Ow…my head is killing me!
The fantastic yet surreal dream surrounded by whispering and murmuring shattered away instantly, Zhou Mingrui who was sound asleep felt an abrupt throbbing pain deep inside his head, as if his head were ruthlessly clubbed. No, it felt more like something sharp penetrated his temple, followed by twisting and stirring.
Feeling disoriented, Zhou Mingrui wanted to turn around, clutch his head, or sit up. Yet, unable to move his hands or feet, he felt like he had lost all control over his body.
Looks like I’m still in some sort of dream, didn’t really wake up… Moments later, I might even think I'm fully awake, only to realize I'm still asleep… Familiar with such experiences, Zhou Mingrui tried desperately to concentrate, hoping to break free from the grip of darkness and disorientation.
However, trapped between wakefulness and sleep, the willpower was as elusive as smoke, difficult to control and concentrate. Despite his efforts, his thoughts kept wandering wildly, with all sorts of ideas coming and going.
How could I suddenly have a headache out of nowhere in the middle of the night?
Especially one which hurts so badly!
Could it be something like a cerebral hemorrhage?
Damn, am I going to die at such a young age?
Wake up! Wake UP!
Huh? Doesn't feel as painful now? Although it still feels like a blunt knife is cutting through my brains…
Sure thing is, I won’t be able to fall asleep any more. How am I supposed to show up for work tomorrow?
Why even bother going to work? This is a legitimate headache, perfect for time off! And no need to worry about the manager's grumblings.
Put it this way, it’s not so bad after all. Yea, free time off for me!
In between the waves of throbbing pain, Zhou Mingrui gradually accumulated a sense of elusive strength. Finally, with a determined effort, he straightened his back and opened his eyes, breaking free from the state of half-sleep and half-wake.
His vision was blurry at first, then tinged with a faint crimson hue. In his line of sight, Zhou Mingrui saw a sturdy wooden desk, upon which lay an open notebook. The papers were rough and yellowed. Where the title supposed to be, there was a sentence written in strange characters, with eye-catching thick, dark ink that seemed ready to drip.
To the left of the notebook, along the edge of the desk, was a stack of seven or eight neatly arranged books. On the wall to their right, were grayish-white pipes inset into the wall, with wall lamps at their ends.
The lamps had a classical Western style, about half the size of an adult's head. It featured a transparent inner layer made of glass and an exterior grid made of black metal.
Diagonally beneath the unlit lamp, was a black ink bottle shrouded in a pale red glow.
On its embossed surface was a blurry angel figure.
In front of the ink bottle and to the right of the notebook, lay a dark-colored pen with a fully circular body. Its tip shimmered with a faint glint while its cap rested right beside a brass revolver.
A gun?
A revolver?
Zhou Mingrui was completely taken aback. Everything in front of him felt absolutely alien, nothing looked like his own room.
Shocked and confused, he came to the realization that the desk, the notebook, the ink bottle, and the revolve were all coated with a layer of crimson “veil” from the light shining through the window.
Without realizing what he was doing, he raised his head, looking up bit by bit.
In the midair, beyond the heavy smooth darkness, hung a crimson full moon, glowing silently.
Hiss… Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified, as he stood up abruptly. However, before he could fully straighten his knees, a throbbing pain struck his head, draining all his strength. He fell, with his buttocks slammed heavily back onto the burly wood chair.
The pain didn’t stop him for a moment. Zhou Mingrui popped up, turned around in a fluster, and began examining his surroundings.
The room was not big, with a brown door on both of his sides. Against the wall in front of him, was a wooden bunk bed. Between the bed and the door to the left was a cabinet with two opposing doors and five drawers beneath them.
Next to the cabinet was a pipe of the same grayish-white, inset into the wall at the height of a person. What distinct it is that it connected to a strange looking mechanical device, which had a few of gears and bearings exposed here and there.
Items resembling coal stoves, sat in the right corner of the room near the desk, along with some kitchenware such as soup pots and iron pans.
Through the right door, was a dressing mirror with a couple of cracks, standing on a wooden base emboss with simple plain patterns.
While looking around, Zhou Mingrui noticed himself in the mirror, the present him.
Dark hair, brown eyes, wearing a linen shirt, slim, average-looking features and a rather deep outline…
Hiss… Zhou Mingrui grasped the situation immediately as many helpless and confused thoughts surfaced in his mind.
The revolver, the classical European style decorations, as well as the crimson moon that looked nothing like Earth's moon—all of them were screaming the exact same thing.
Who am I?
C-could I have transmigrated?
Zhou Mingrui's mouth slowly opened wider and wider, bit by bit.
He had grown up reading web novels, even fantasized about such scenes from time to time. However, the fantasy was incredibly difficult to accept now that he found himself in one.
Classic "Talk? Yes, yes! Action? No, no!", isn’t it?
In less than a minute, Zhou Mingrui had already started to sarcastically critique, attempting to make the best of whatever situation he found himself in.
But for the throbbing headache forcing him to think fast and sharply, he would for sure be convinced that he was dreaming.
Easy, easy, easy…taking deep breaths, Zhou Mingrui was trying really hard to make himself to calm down.
Just as his mind and body began to relax, pieces of memories started to flush, slowly flooding into his consciousness.
Klein Moretti.
A citizen of the City of Tingen, Awwa County, Loen Kingdom in the Northern Continent
Recently graduated from the Department of History at Khoy University…
His father was a sergeant of the Imperial Army, who had sacrificed his life during a colonial ware with the Southern Continent. His bereavement allowance made it possible for Klein to study at a private literature school, paving the way for his admission into university…
His mother was a devotee of the Evernight Goddess, who passed away the year Klein passed the entrance examinations to Khoy University…
He also had an elder brother and a younger sister, living together in a two-bedroom apartment.
Their family was far from wealthy, and its financial situation could even be described as somewhat strained.
Currently, the family was supported solely by the elder brother who worked as a clerk at an import and export company …
As a college graduate majored in history, Klein was proficient in the ancient language of Feysac, considering the origin of all languages in the Northern Continent, as well as the language of Hermes, which was commonly found in ancient mausoleums and often associated with sacrificial scenes and praying rituals.
Hermes?!
Zhou Mingrui's mind started to race as he reached out to rub his throbbing temples.
He cast his gaze toward the desk at the opened notebook, but to realize that the strange looking characters on the yellowed paper started to look somewhat familiar, then increasingly recognizable, and finally comprehensible.
It was a statement written in Hermes!
The thick, dark ink, seemingly ready to drip, read:
“Everyone will die including me myself!”
Hiss! Zhou Mingrui felt inexplicably horrified. He instinctively leaned back, attempting to escape away from the notebook, and the ominous statement on it.
Being so weak, he almost fell down, but managed to extend his hands in a fluster to grasp the edge of the desk.
He felt that air around him air started to roar, filled with faint whispering and murmurings. It felt just like listening to horror stories told by elders when he was young.
He shook his head, telling himself that all these were nothing but an illusion. Getting back onto his feet, he looked away from the notebook while still breathing heavily.
This time, his sight landed on the shimmering brass revolver, immediately realizing something unexplainable.
With Klein's social status, in what universe he would have the money or access to buy a revolver?!
Zhou Mingrui couldn't help but furrow his brow. Deeply puzzled, his eyes were caught by a reddish handprint at the edge of the desk, which was even darker than the moonlight, as well as thicker than the “veil”.
It was a bloody handprint!
A bloody handprint?
Zhou Mingrui instinctly flipped his right hand, that was pushing against the edge of the desk. Looking at it, he saw his palm and fingers covered in blood.
In the meaning time, the throbbing pain was getting a little bit better, yet didn’t go away, binding him like one tie after another.
Did I smash and injure my head? Zhou Mingrui guessed as he turned around, walking towards the cracked dressing mirror. After just a few of steps, a medium build figure of dark hair and brown eyes appeared clearly in front of him. The person had a distinct scholarly air to him.
Is this the present me?
Klein Moretti?
Zhou Mingrui was stunned. The poor lighting of the night obscured his vision, preventing him from clearly discerning something he had noticed. He continued forward until he was just a step away from colliding with the mirror.
Illumined by the crimson veil-like moonlight, he turned his head and began to examine the side of his forehead. A clear reflection appeared in the mirror. There, no his temple, was a grotesque wound with burn marks around the edges, blood staining the surrounding area. Grayish-white brain matter was slowly seeping out from within.

2024.05.17 08:34 DragonQueen0509 Main character race

Hello folks. I'm a newbie writer and want to make a story. However, I'm questioning the main character. I want to do something more than a basic human since that's kind of boring. So I'm looking for ideas. I have a small list of possible options for the main character race and would love to hear opinions of others or other race ideas.
So far, I have: Dragon, Wolf, Fox, Tiger, Panther, Leopard, Crocodile, Hippogrif, Griffin, Chimera, Human but with bonus options
Either choose one you think would do well or voice your own. The story will have a system involved, so I need the race first, lol.

2024.05.17 08:27 Ben0fTheMeadowlands Your experiences playing bards

Hi,
I know this is a super subjective topic, and heavily dependent on table rules and different DMs etc. But I would be interested in general player experiences when you played different kinds of bards. Which experiences did you have, which subclasses did you play etc? I’ve been playing in a campaign for about 15 months now with an Eloquence Bard, and found the game experience pretty unrewarding thus far. Though the class may be “mechanically strong” on paper, most of the class features have been rendered complete non-features by my DM over time. And the scaling of the whole class feels like such a slouch. We started at level 3 and after almost 1,5 years of weekly play just reached level 8. And to me, it just feels like bards are super “back-loaded” as many juicy features and access to potent spells only really seems to come online from level 10 onwards which I’m not sure we’ll ever see in this campaign. My theme for the character was a charlatan, who would trick others into revealing valuable information, then sell them to the highest bidder. A kind of infiltration, disguise and manipulation specialist. And I figured Silver Tongue would complement that idea so I chose Eloquence Bard for my subclass. At the start of the campaign, silver tongue sometimes worked, though, as the DM gauged auto-successes too boring, now the DCs of Persuasion and Deception checks are always conveniently high, so I always need to roll higher than a 10 to succeed at them in every instance, no matter how laughable the request. Example: Our Party disguises as nobles and infiltrate a castle. I ask a guard to investigate a noise down the corridor to lure him away from a door, roll an 8 for a 20 on deception and fail. I then cast suggestion and tell him the same. The guard fails the saving throw but our DM determines that the spell fails anyway because the guards command is to guide the door and it’s not reasonable for him to leave his post. Our rogue then decides to non-lethal sneak attack the guard from behind and deals 15 damage, instant knockout and he saves the situation. Scenes like the one before occur quite regularly, and really make me feel like I’m not able to contribute ANYTHING to our parties’ progress. In our combats, most enemies have charm immunity or magical resistance, so hypnotic pattern rarely does anything and then I’m basically bound to spam vicious mockery around which does next to nothing even when it works. So okay, maybe bards aren’t supposed to be good in combat? But all the out-of-combat utility that the character has on paper is then often rendered useless as well. Which often leaves me wondering, what is this character then supposed to be good at anyway?
Have you had similar experiences with this particular subclass in the past? Or more positive ones? Which subclasses did you enjoy or not enjoy playing so far?

2024.05.17 08:24 Squidinator2000 The greatest idea I’ve ever had for a homebrew character

I came up with this character at 3 am MONTHS AGO and I haven’t had the chance to show him off to the world. There’s nary a campaign that could handle his raw power.
Name- Willy Breeze Race- Dwarf Class- bard-ificer duo class
Imagine- Billy Mays in DnD. All of his items, spells, quips, etc are based off of as seen on tv products we all remember from the 90’s and 2000’s. All catchphrases based on taglines. All insults based on the worst and dumbest products. The energy and power of Billy Mays and his downright criminal persuasion that sold us on all the items he advertised. Planning on making him a playable character or an NPC for your own personal enjoyment. Make him a goofy merchant, make him a BBEG with the most ridiculous quips, he’s too good to keep to myself. I’ll keep you updated on the homebrew character sheet info!

2024.05.17 08:19 Reditor-Jul-250698 Does anyone else find Elysium to be more of a hero than Patroklos, the "actual hero" himself in SoulCalibur V?

Does anyone else find Elysium to be more of a hero than Patroklos, the
Don't get me wrong, I know Elysium is actually the main antagonist of the game. But if you think about her actions and motives, she just wants to destroy the Soul Edge and get rid of all evil, even if it means sacrificing Pyrrha, who has been corrupted by evil itself. Basically, her goal is to purify the world from evil, and would do whatever it takes to achieve that goal, even if it means deceiving Patroklos, the brother who wields the Soul Calibur.
Patroklos on the other hand, is the most hated character within the Soul series. Many see this character as a cruel, selfish and arrogant person who shows no remorse to his victims, even going as far as to cold-heartedly kill any innocent people he sees as "evil". Sure he was deceived by Nightmare into doing these horrendous deeds, but its still his fault for killing innocent lives. He was also deceived by Elysium herself, who persuade him to kill his corrupted sister, which he actually did. It was only after killing his sister that he actually realised his mistakes, to which he literally time travelled back to before he killed Pyrrha.
Basically, Patroklos did all these terrible and selfish deeds just for the sake of reuniting with his sister, only for her to be corrupted by Soul Edge. Elysium on the other hand, just wants to destroy Soul Edge and get rid of all evil. Sure she deceived Patroklos into doing her bidding, but it was all for the sake of purifying the world from the corruption Soul Edge has caused.
I know not many people like Elysium as well, but I'm very certain most of the hate towards her stems from the fact that she is a "Charade" character, and SoulCalibur V happens to be the worst one when it comes to this type of character, since that game literally has 3 of them in total. Having one Charade character is interesting enough, since it provides a different playstyle for each round, hence why some SoulCalibur games tend to have just 1. For SoulCalibur V, having 3 Charade characters is a really weird idea, with Edge Master mimicking all fighters, Kilik only mimicking the males, and Elysium only mimicking the females. The idea to divide the roster into males and females is very odd, especially since there are more males in the roster than there are females.
In all honesty, having Elysium be a Charade character really makes sense, since Inferno was also like that in both SoulCalibur I and II as well. Elysium is the incarnation of Soul Calibur itself, whereas Inferno is the incarnation of Soul Edge, so it makes sense that both would also feature similar fighting abilities as well.
("DISCLAIMER: This could all just be personal bias, since I actually really like Elysium as a character, and also hated Patroklos for being such a terrible main protagonist. I do apologise if my own personal opinion offended anyone, but that is just how I see it. To me, Elysium in the good and divine being she was made to be, whereas Patroklos is just an annoying and selfish brat. Please take this post with a grain of salt, for everything I described is all from my personal perspective.")

2024.05.17 08:14 Magnet866 Death Knight - 8 Oathbreaker 4 Abjuration Wizard build

*This is not a min-max build but more a RP one.
First of all, why not 6/6 or 2/10 Oathbreaker Paladin – Necromancer Wizard multiclass, or even a pure Oathbreaker Paladin?
Well, some 2 Paladin 10 Wizard multiclass builds you guys can see on Youtube is kinda weird. If you want to be a melee necromancer, there’s no reason to take 2 level dip in Paladin. The Divine Smite is good, but it’s not like you'll want to make a melee if you cannot get the extra attack. One level dip in Fighter will be better and you still gain all spell slot with 11 levels in Wizard. But the main reason is, this build is about a Knight who will fight along with his/her undead army with a great sword or a maul, not a Lich who can cast necromancy spell in melee and seldom bonk 1 or 2 times in a fight. Beside of summoning undead, their play styles are difference.
6/6 Oathbreaker Paladin – Necromancer Wizard can be compared with this build with some differences. 8/4 Oathbreaker Paladin – Abjuration Wizard one make you a stronger Death Knight with weaker army, while 6/6 one is vice versa. This can be considered as an alternative of Death Knight build, but I will not mention about it here.
Mean while, A pure Oathbreaker is strong, but I personally think 8/4 Paladin Wizard will be stronger and more interesting. Beside of that, it will be more suit with the Death Knight's theme (fighting along with your undead).
About the main idea. Animated Death is kind of useless if you cast it with a level 3 spell slots, and the number of Divine Smite you can perform is a little limited if playing as a pure Oathbreaker (but stronger when you reach level 11 anyway). The 6/6 Paladin Wizard can fix those issue, but your character will be a little weaker until you get 6 levels in Necromancer Wizard and may become a heavy M.A.D if you want to cast Slow or Counter Spell. Beside of that, this build locks you away from a level 6 spell slot while the level 5 one is not that crucial to have. Three skeletons are usually better than 1 single ghoul, and Divine Smite gain no more damage dice when using a spell slot above level 4 anyway. It isn’t mean the level 5 spell slot is useless (more summon, upcast some other Paladin spells, or just consider it as a level 4 Divine Smite). What I mean is that it is acceptable to stop at the level 4 spell slots.
So, with 8 Oathbreaker levels and 4 levels dip in Abjuration Wizard, you can upcast Animated Death as a level 4 spell for 3 undead, recover some spell slot with arcane recovery. Your summons will be weaker, but your character will be stronger with full 3 feats, higher level and more Smite per day compare to a pure a Paladin, Aura of Hate (sadly, this won’t gain any benefit for most of your undead, but +4 or +5 in your flat damage for yourself is ok), and a little more tanky thank to Abjuration Wizard subclass.
In conclusion, this build seems like a build which stand in the middle between a pure Oathbreaker and 6/6 Oathbreaker Paladin/Necromacer Wizard multiclass. You are a strong knight alone, and the undead will be the cherries on top of the cake.
I won’t go to detail to save our time, but the following are some of my recommendations with this build:
Stat distribution: Str 8 (use elixir), Dex 14, Con 16, Int 8, Wis 10, Cha 17 (take Hag’s Hair. If not, set Wis to 12 and Cha to 16).
Level progression: 8 Oathbreaker -> 1 Wizard/8 Oathbreaker - > take the remaining level in Abjuration Wizard.
Fighting Style: Defence.
Feat: Savage Attacker (you can choose other feat and take GWF as Fighting Style as a lesser version if you like, just not get both of them), GWM, and ASI +2 in Cha (or take Alert).
Wizard spell: Animated Death, Shield (only use this to make an extremely strong attack or a bunch of attack miss you. It can recover some Arcane Ward, by the way), and other utilities spells that don’t require Int.
Items: the vital ones are Circle of Bones and Necromancy of Thay.
Has a Cleric to cast Aid and Heroes's Feast on your team. This is a big impact for your summons.
Well that all about this short build, if you guys have any opinion about this post, please do let me know.
