2024.05.17 12:07 rdappls Family is going on holiday without me

Hello, I am venting a little bit, i am myslef aware this is a very small issue (or non issue). My parents just let me know they are going on a trip to Spain and i am but hurt they didn't invite me with them. As I am writing this i realise this is stupid so i guess writing it down works great to feel better.
My parents travel a lot, minimum 4 times a year outside the country (we are in E.Europe) and they always complain that I don't join them. This is true because most times they travel last minute and often they'll ask after they already bought the trips for themselves or one day before they board the plane and I doubt there even are any more spots available:)). Last week my dad asked me if i wanted to come with them to Egypt to an all inclusive resort and i said i couldn't, i have some issues with my body,i lost 60 kg and being in a bathing suit around all their friends makes me and my loose skin feel bad. They know about this which is why i always bring up traveling to non beach related places. If it were just me and my parents i don;t mind the beach but their friend group is pretty big and i don;t know them.
Now comes Spain. I have never been to Spain before and it's on my wishlist for a very long time. I was shocked when they told me they were going there in 2 days(so in May not June). When I was a kid they skipped my highschool graduation and my prom to go to Spain and I am stil upset they chose the trip over me (it's been 10 years but it still hurts and i even talked about it to them a few years back). What made me sad is that I had invited them to a picnic at the botanical garden (it's rose season) and they said yes and now they are going to spain. they didn't even mention the picnic, i was on the phone with my mom asking her if she wanted to join me at a different event and she said she's going to spain. so if i hadn't called they may have just let me prep the food and everything and then not show up? i am confused by their logic,I even sent out an invite by post (i got into caligraphy and was seals,it's a thing) so it s not like she had forgotten. I live about 1.3 hours away so i always try to figure out activities in my city that they can enjoy, the picnic was their idea.
I think if it were any other country i probably wouldn't mind but I felt horrible not having anyone at my hs graduation and prom because my mom and dad were in Barcelona having fun,if they had said we're off to Turkey to lounge on the beach it would have been fine. I think i m just but hurt it's Spain:))
Obviously my parents can go on holiday without me,i am an adult not a child, they have no obligation to take me with them anywhere or to invite me to trips etc. I do wish they would stop complaining that I never go anywhere with them since these trips always involve their friends and are almost always last minute or my favorite is when they've already booked it and they are asking without even checking availabilities. But they plan these trips with their friends, with me it's like: hey, do you want to go to x location? we are leaving in 2 days and there might not be another spot available unless you make up your mind in the next 5 minutes. Now that i write this i realize my parents never ever asked me where i would want to go or planned anything with me,it's almost like they want me to say no. They have a different life, they run their own businesses so they can take time off last minute more easily. I work from home and i could take time off but it affects the money i make since i am a freelancer, plus some projects have deadlines etc.
To psychoanalize this some more:)) i am an only child to parents who were always absent when i was growing up,i am the kid who never asked for homework help, who managed her schedule (school, food, cleaning, learning wtc) since 1st grade and never could ask them for help because they were never there. I do wander if anyone knows how to move on from this? But i guess i am but hurt when they ignore me or cancel plans on me because of the way i grew up and not because going to Spain by themselves is an isssue. This post is all over the place, i would apreciate some thoughts on how to be less but hurt in the future:) thank you for reading, i hope you guys have a great summer!

2024.05.17 12:03 Royal-Key-6056 finished ep2 ~ here are my theories (or rather observations)

hihi so that was really one hell of a mind game, I thought to myself that to enjoy the story I needed to understand the basis. so I jotted it down and here are my thoughts from ep1-start of ep3
firstly the culprit has a "clear motive" what I mean by this is what is written in the epitaph are clear instructions from that we can conclude someone came to the island truly seeking something and the killings aren't arbitrary as they are all well thought of . from ep1 the motive was to eliminate all the parents excluding (eva and hideyoshi) and shannon not being planned makes it seem like they had planned to eliminate george and shannon on the 2nd twilight while keeping eva and hideyoshi alive. why? that was a common question I had on why they always had to keep a parent alive. I think theres another motive behind this since the culprit is the one solving the riddle the "ritual" must follow a certain criteria, meaning they cannot kill as they please and the only way to advance each twilight means to follow that criteria so I jotted the rules down:
-the murders must be acknowledged (sort of like how witches can only exist through belief the murders are about the same)
-all 10 twilights must be completed before midnight
-the order of the murders can take place anywhere any time and arent part of the "ritual" rather the acknowledgement of the murders are what makes the twilights
I had always suspected rosa, in this episode there was a scene from the chapel where beatrice makes everyone pledge to her so it could be something like drawing the culprit. she was abnormally familiar with both letters and I was wondering why she hadnt read it in the dining hall like she should have. well unlike ep1 where they all read it makes my theory of keeping eva and hideyoshi alive more probable because its basically announcing "you're all going to die anyways so there is no point" so ep1 was like a warm up, nothing went to plan but there wasnt a push to do so (introducing game rules to battler perhaps?)
now this is getting quite long and I really dont want to but I have to start theorizing the locked rooms on the 2nd twilight and to tie rosa into it. I dont suspect genji it would be too boring if so and I can also suspect the dead cant I? its too hard to tie rosa who had an alibi yet but I had a wild theory that george killed kanon and jessica to save shannon. it might be plausible had he taken the key from shannon.
that isnt plausible given he had an alibi but my brain is really starting to fog up and I regret not taking notes because comprehension is my biggest skill issue, thanks for reading this rant ill try to edit it some time once I have enough material to work on the locked doors (or maybe I havent been observing enough) anyways thats all im looking forward to the rest^^

2024.05.17 12:00 These-Pudding8996 My psychiatrist wants someone I know to get involved with my testing.

When I was 12, I remembered having an hour chat with a pediatrician, no tests, and she diagnosed me with Autism Spectrum and Language Delay. I just moved here to the U.S. from Southeast Asia during that age. I didn't know about these diagnoses until I was in college, and neither does my parents. I felt that it didn't feel right with me, and I am afraid that I might end up with limited opportunities after the semester.
So, early this year, I decided to advocate myself and get tested by a psychiatrist. I've done a series of psychometric test and did one test on Autism. My scores on the test on autism are too low to meet the criteria to be diagnosed with autism or autism spectrum, but because of my reserved personality, above average on reading and math, and on how I tend to beat around the bush a bit but still answered my questions specifically and honestly, the psychiatrist was not satisfied with my results. She was not happy when I said that I never had sensory issues and how I do not have a specific routine in my life. She didn't believe me when I told her that I had no issues when I studied abroad in Europe for a semester, or acclimating to different countries when traveling, or how I am used to motorbikes revving noises and traffic noises in Southeast Asia. She thought I was dishonest and sugarcoating my autistic traits by 'pretending' to not be fazed at it. So, she is asking to have someone else fill out a form containing symptoms of autism for me.
Is it normal for psychiatrist to ask that question for me?

Biography

Lord Damon Manderly was born in 9 BC, the eldest born son of Lord Medgar Manderly and Iolande Ashford, the widow of Ser Torgen Tallheart and the mother of two small sons. At some point after her husband’s death Iolande returned to her parents’ home in Ashford, a rather impoverished widow and berefit of financial support for her two young sons. Iolande petitioned Medgar’s friend Lord Torrhen Stark of Winterfell for help in working out her financial plight. Lord Stark sent his friend Medgar the Lord of White Harnbor to investigate and the two fell in love and married in 10 BC, a year before Damon was born.
The birth of Damon was followed by that his younger brother Daron two years later in 7 BC during which his mother died in childbirth. In 2 BC when Damon was seven years old, he was sent to be fostered in Winterfell while his brother Deron was sent to the family of their grandmother - the Ashfords.
Damon was raised in the court of Lord Torrhen becoming familiar with the culture, education, and institutions of his host and making friends with the grandsons of Torrhen Stark who was of age. One of those was his cousin Rickard Snow, the son of Eddard Snow, one of the bastards of Lord Torrhen who had married his father’s younger sister Margaery Manderly.
In 5 AC when Damon was fourteen and still a squire, Torrhen Stark bent the knee to Aegon the Conqueror. The resulting rebellion called The Son’s War - a rebellion in the North against the surrender of Torrhen Stark. Led by the Heir to House Bolton, thousands of angry Northmen are crushed in battle by Torrhen Stark. Several of the defeated members flee east to form the Company of the Rose, including Eddard Snow and his son Rickard.
In 9 AC Damon was knighted by Torrhen Stark, as per his father Lord Medgar’s request, but despite this Damon, as his father’s heir, remained at Winterfell. His father, who had remarried to Myrcella Waynwood of the Vale by then had many more sons, and hence made no overtures for his oldest two sons to return. Instead, Eddard, the eldest paternal half-brother of Damon, egged on by the support of his father’s second wife Myrcella, had been designated by Lord Medgar as heir to White Harbor, in his absence. Despite Lord Mefgar’s violating of the laws of inheritance, Lord Torrhen chose not pursue the matter for the moment.
Damon notably chose to stay with his foster family, partly due to the influence of his raising at the court of Torrhen Stark and partly for the opportunity it would present to advance his career, though he may always have had in mind that one day he would become White Harbor’s lord, like his father and grandfather. To that end he developed an interest in architecture. Lord Torrhen assigned him to his team of engineers who were responsible for maintain Winterfell’s fortifications and other structures. (Architect). At the same time Damon’s work in this area developed his aptitude for driving a hard bargain (Avaricious) in negotiation.
In 14 AC, when Damon was 23 years old, Lord Torrhen Stark was overthrown and assassinated, after he informed his children of his intent to back one of the Dragon Queens. Damon’s father Lord Medgar, suspecting foul play from one or more of the Stark siblings loudly called for justice for the late lord, a close personal friend of his, prompting Damon to fear that he was no longer welcome in Winterfell.
The next year, Lord Regent Orys Baratheon called a grand hunt in the Kingswood. For the first time in many years Damon met his father Lord Medgar, his full brother Daron and his younger half-brothers and sisters when the Mandely family accompanied the new Lord Alaric south. The grand hunt would end in disaster as bandits would descend upon the hunting parties and kill or carry off many nobles. One of the victims was Damon’s brother Daron. The disaster in the Kingswood would eventually lead to most of the Starks returning to Winterfell but Lord Alaric remained along with Damon himself in order to exact revenge on the bandits.
As a youngster, Damon had always had an aptitude for the sea, something he had missed with his time in inland Winterfell. (Mariner) Now with his journey south first to White Harbor and then travelling by sea to Kings Landing he rediscovered his youthful passion. He began spending his time down at the docks in Kings Landing and much of his time on some of the warships of the royal fleet. He found that he had a natural aptitude for naval manoeuvres and over the next few years he commanded a small contingent of royal ships, refining and improving these skills (Admiral).
In 23 AC, Lord Medgar and his eldest son by his second wife and designated heir Eddard Manderly, a young man of 23 years old, were ambushed by crannogmen when they went to investigate the ruins of Moat Cailin. Medgar was killed and Eddard was mortally wounded in the same fight and died some days later. Medgar’s other sons 22 year old Emmon and 19 year old Edgar managed to escape the crannogmen and with the help of retainers and Lord Medgar’s brother Desmond returned safely to White Harbor.
A power struggle for the control of White Harbor now ensued. Lord Medgar’s younger brother Desmond Manderly took the opportunity to seize White Harbor attempting with Lord Medgar’s widow Lady Myrcella to make young Emmon Manderly the new lord of White Harbor with himself and his sister-by-law as regents and ruler. His father’s death allowed Damon, as Lord Medgar’s eldest son to lay claim to White Harbor attempting to depose his uncle. Concerned about the growing power of White Harbor Lord Alaric, now serving as the realm’s Master of Laws in exchange for an oath of fealty to his person, Lord Alaric publicly invested Damon Manderly as Lord of White Harbor. Lord Stark placed Damon in charge of a force with the task of securing his claim. Defeating his uncle in a pitched battle, Damon deposed and imprisoned his half-brother Emmon, his uncle Desmond and his sister-by-law. Not wishing to kill his younger brother and uncle, Damon kept Desmond in close but comfortable confinement at White Harbor, while Emmon, (now effectively his heir) was exiled, so as not to be tempted to make another attempt on ruling White Harbor. Emmon went to King Landing south where he was stabbed to death in a brawl in Flea Bottom by a Westerlands knight of House Clifton. Shortly after the Lady Myrcella died of illness, but some say of grief and despair at the loss of her husband and two eldest sons.
Since his elevation to the Lord of White Harbor, two years ago, Damon has made concerted efforts to further develop White Harbor’s trade links. A trade fleet has been constructed and Damon has sent out feelers to some of the city states of Essos (Merchantman), in particular Braavos. Seeking further links Damon has now travelled south to Kings Landing for the princes’ 18th name day celebrations.

2024.05.17 11:38 Primary_Assumption67 Paris seems to be getting worse with age.

She seems to actually be regressing, most people mature as they get older but not her. Its so clear to see she didn’t really want kids but felt pressured by society and her mother, like im sorry but there’s no excuse for her to be an incompetent parent, she literally planned both of her kids, got them implanted into a surrogate and didn’t do ANYTHING to prepare… it’s shameful.
She can’t seem to understand that the reason people criticise her is because she is not a nice person and a bad parent, she can’t take accountability for anything and is surrounded by ass kissers who tell her everything she wants to hear and how she is “sliving”. I really hope she reads this sub and realises how bad she comes across.
I think she’s gonna be the same parent as Kathy is to be honest. We are literally watching these kids get mentally and physically neglected (yes they are still being neglected even tho they have a nanny) in front of our eyes. Phoenix should have had a helmet on months ago but of course paris is so vain she would be embarrassed for her son to have one because everything needs to be picture perfect. The kids seem emotionally numb, they don’t smile or laugh they seem to have a perpetual look of anxiety on their faces. Paris also continues to be smug about the fact that they are good babies and “never cry”… is she that stupid that she thinks it’s normal for babies not to cry? Crying is a normal and healthy thing that babies do, she should be concerned about the fact her babies don’t cry and I’m about to get real judgmental here, maybe they don’t cry because they are emotionally numb after being stripped away from the surrogate and put into a cold hearted woman’s arms.
I hope Phoenix or London expose them all with a book in the future how shitty of a mom paris is and how much of a deadbeat carter is.

2024.05.17 11:36 CapitalDismal8327 what do i do?

Hi guys , i am new to this community and there is something that has been troubling me for so long.
I am from india and i am 19F . I struggled so much thinking about this. i desperately need your help.
sooo there is a guy that i had a crush on from 4th grade. then the feelings i had for him grew even stronger from eighth grade onwards till now. It entirely became unrequited by 12th grade. i tried avoiding him but i wasn't able to . he came to school by his bicycle and i would often get the chance to see him cycling, and god he is soo handsome doing that. he is tall, pale, wears glasses, has beautiful black eyes, his eyebrows are bushy .he has long , beautiful fingers and great hair too.
whenever classes end i would always look for him in the subtle ways. he was shy and he maintained a low profile at school. not really active on social media either. BUT
he never looked at me the way i looked at him . he looked away whenever he noticed that i saw him cycling his way home. gave me mixed signs. never ever talked to me and i didn't either. i last saw him at my high school graduation . i did not look back at him.
our school was very conservative and so are our parents. girls aren't supposed to talk with boys alone at all .the reason i ask for the internet to help is simply that MY parents don't like that.
the minute they know that i have feelings for a boy they will kill me. it is not really comfortable to talk about that either to them at all. my mom told me that these feelings are normal but you will have to avoid them at all costs. it is hard to talk to indian parents about love. they hate it when kids go against their rules regarding love or marriage. well in my family love marriage is a one way ticket to heaven. parents will disown you for life. I am talking about strict parents like mine here. i really wish there was someone to talk about this.
i realized that it was limerence. i still have thoughts, dreams about him quite often. it hurts my feelings that he didn't realize my feelings. it hurts that he may have looked down on me. it hurts that he ignored me and that i felt insecure with him.
even though i have feelings for him, i want to move on and heal . i want to unlove him . idek what to do anymore. i feel like crying. i feel as if it is unhealthy for me to obsess over someone who didn't even care about my existence. i really want to let go of him , to actually let go of this guy whom i was not with physically or mentally.
the question is: is it the right thing to let him go? will i ever meet someone who will love me back? will I be able to love someone even more than my crush?
thx for reading stay safe out there loves bye
tl;dr: this is all about my unrequited love that needs help.

2024.05.17 11:33 JamaicanTransplant Who is Debbie Evans?

We had a big meeting with Susan yesterday. Kitten and I reconstructed some of the highlights. Of course, Susan reads everything here in our blog.
"So which 911 should we talk about first: 'Heidi's (Non)-Suspense Hearing Hissy Fit' or 'Lita's Let Me Decide the Future of My Life at the Young Age of Sixteen'"?
We all just had to laugh!
"People think that therapy is like filling potholes on the FDR Drive," Susan said. "Got a hole? Throw in some asphalt. People can still drive on it, although it will always be bumpy and the filling will come out during the next storm. What do you think? Agree or disagree?"
"I disagree," I said. "I think a good counselor should try to develop strength and resiliency in her client so they can design and rebuild an entire new road."
Kitten said I was right. "The first case is the 'deficit' something-or-other. The second is the 'asset' something-or-other."
"Exactly," Susan said. "The word you were looking for is 'mindset.' A 'deficit mindset,' an 'asset mindset.' A lot of times, instead of 'asset' you hear 'abundance mindset.'"
She went on. "Let's look what happened. Lita, you had the strength to bring Heidi and all of your parents into the discussion with Benjamin so you wouldn't leave yourself alone and isolated. Good for you! That's social engineering. You were like Debbie Evans..."
Kitten was curious and had to interrupt, "Uhmmm. Who is Debbie Evans?"
Susan said, "Look her up. She was the stunt motocycle rider in the 1970's TV show Wonder Woman. You, Lita, rode on your supercharged motorcycle into your past and scooped up the gems, swerved around pitfalls and delusions from your recent history, wrote a dissertation about education and schools, and outlined your plans for your college search. Very impressive!"
Susan was only getting started. "And you, Heidi, made two game-changing plays, whether or not you were aware of it. You butted in to say something that Lita taking the job was 'no sacrifice' for you. Then you picked up your guitar when you felt Lita was feeling vulnerable."
"It wasn't planned or anything. That's how I really felt!" piped in Kitten.
"I know. Let's move to 'Heidi and the Dean.' Sounds like the title of a sitcom, doesn't it? You made a mistake because you overreached on your running without following the Coach's protocols. It was a double whammy because Lita had been punished for doing the same thing a couple of weeks earlier."
Susan paused for a few moments to sip some water. I think it was really drama to announce that something important was coming up. "That's life! We make mistakes and take the consequences. But here is the important thing. You didn't just collapse but stood your ground. Okay, maybe a bit awkwardly, but doing it more effectively and, as your mother said, 'reading signals,' are just some skills you will pick up with life experience. I would be far more worried if you had only caved in. Not only that, but you were dealing with a wild card, a testosterone-loaded dean."
"No, I see him differently now," Heidi said. "It's been two days since I've volunteered after school in his office. I'm already feeling why he is the way he is."
"Good, why don't you write about that in your blog? I just don't want to get sidetracked right now."
Some more dramatic pauses. Then she turned to Kitten but I knew she was talking to both of us. "We are a lot more than solitary human beings. We are also our social connections. In effect, you are Team Heidi. Just look at that meeting. You had Coach and your guidance counselor rooting for you, most likely conspiring beforehand to get you through the dean experience. You had mother there shutting you up before you got yourself into deeper trouble. Then you had your friends sending you, from what I gather, text messages making sure you didn't go into self-victimizing mode and instead, in the words of one person, 'turn poison into medicine.' You used faith to gather presence and make a plan. Pretty impressive."
Then Susan got very serious. "I don't think it is ever wise to carry the burden of secrets. They tend to come out anyway, and the longer they fester, the more trust is broken. Let me be blunt. I don't believe the story that you guys met playing volleyball. I don't see how it is humanly possible for both of you to have developed the bonds between you and grow so much in a single year. What's the real story?"
Kitty and I looked at each other absolutely shocked.
"Your expressions say a million words. But we are out of time, aren't we? Also, I don't think I should be the first person to hear the Big Reveal. I think both of you need to set up a lunch date with your mothers and then put all of your cards out on the table. We can talk next week about what happened. But for now, let me say how much I deeply respect both of you!"
Kitten and I worked out of Susan's office hand-in-hand. It's a beautiful morning and we are heading out now to run.

2024.05.17 11:29 UnlikelyBeyond4164 I'm a failure looking for a reason to stick it out

So sorry to waste your time...

This is gonna be a lot, and you, of course, are not force to read this. I was just looking for something, if anything, regarding an answer to a question I am going to have to face because of my own actions. I understand that if you do choose to read all of this and reply to me, you may wish to berate and insult me. By all means, do so, I deserve it. I don't mean to write a sob story so people will sympathize will me, I don't need people's attention, I'm not coping.
For a bit of context, I am and always have been a burden on myself and those around me. I've been nothing but lazy and useless my entire life. I was the kid that never did his homework, ever. I thought it was stupid and that was my justification to not do it. I was that kind of garbage. I hated when things imposed on my happiness and freedoms, and I resented things that did that to me, like homework. I have always been told that I am full of talent and that I'm so smart or whatever, but it has never translated in my studies. I have always gotten low marks in my courses, always because of homework. If there was a way to flunk out of high school, I would've flunked out a long, long time ago. I'm so pathetic, all I've ever cared about are the things that I enjoy and not the things that are important.
So like the idiot I am, I chose to go to college knowing the kind of person that I am, telling myself I would change because college is serious and what not. Spoiler alert, I didn't. I'm a piece of garbage and all I've ever done is waste the time and resources of those around me. I'm so fortunate that my parents paid for my college, but they said they would kick me out if I failed and all. I believed in my talents, but not in my work ethic. Sure enough, coming out of my first semester in college, I failed two out of the 5 courses I took and that put me on academic probation. Why did I fail? Well, I failed because of my crappy work ethic. I could've passed these courses with high marks if I had done my homework given that my test scores were always high or solid. As you would expect, my parents wanted to kill me, I was mocked and laughed at by my siblings, and I really didn't have a support system, not that I deserved one.
Miraculously, I was given a second chance to fix my predicament, and I honestly felt I was doing better. I was struggling to get my work in on time, but I was still making the effort to do it (Nothing to be proud of considering it wasn't on time). This semester, although spent in the comfort of caring friends who wanted nothing but the best for me, was extremely depressing and part of me wants to blame my shortcomings on that. Mentally, this semester was really rough for me and even though nobody knew it, I was going through a really, really hard time. The other part of me knows that blaming my mental health on my shortcomings is nothing but a cop out and I would just be making excuses for myself like I always do. Anyways, looking at my grades coming out of this semester, once again, I have failed two courses, one of which was inevitable, and the other, I am currently fighting for despite grades being posted. I want to really cling to the hope of the mark being changed even though my situation really won't change much, but if it is impossible, then I will give up right there.
As you can see given what I have provided above, it should be clear how much of an idiot I am. I have been nothing but a failure, a disgrace, a sloth, and a piece of trash. I have wasted the money of my parents, the energy of everyone who believed in me, and my own time. I should've known I would never amount to anything. If I want to keep living, I'll be homeless and left with only the few thousand I have saved from working my summer job as a lifeguard. I have been nothing but pathetic my entire life, and honestly writing this all out makes me tear up a bit. It kind of hurts that I want to cut my life short not because I hate my life, but because it feels that there is no other options left for me to progress forward. I have given myself nothing to use to go forward because I have been nothing but my own worst enemy. I am lazy and a waste of air. I truly wish to apologize to everyone whoever believed in me, I wish I could man up and just tell it to their faces, but I am too ashamed to even turn off my computer screen and see my reflection. The grades will come in soon, and my family will know, and that will be the end of me. Right now, I plan to run away from home soon and either try and find somewhere to go or just jump off a bridge, I guess (I haven't really thought it out, it's not something I really want to think about).
Some of you, who may be nice enough to reach out, may say that my best bet would be to negotiate with my family, or perhaps seek a job in trades, or maybe even consider community college. I can only refute those as my parents are not the negotiable type, even if some of you insist they will be. As for trades, it is something looked down upon by my family, by my friends, and it's rubbed off on me too and I have come to loathe the idea of it. Perhaps it will be my only option, but something I've never wanted for myself was to work day in and day out breaking my back in physical labor like that. As for community college, I would not be opposed to it despite friends and family looking down on it too, but even if that was the route I decided to go down, how would I do that? Once my parents see these pathetic grades, I will be kicked out and maybe even disowned right after I get beaten half to death. Some of you should now be realizing the piece of garbage that I am for saying that, and you have every right to take back any sympathy you may have had for me. I do not deserve any help, any support, and sympathy, or advice. Honestly, I'd rather the option of suicide be validated so I can just get on with it. I think it is finally time to put my pathetic life behind me and release the burden of knowing me off of so many people. All I have ever done is hold myself back and hold others back too. All I've ever done is wish I could be better but then never would I act on it. I wish a work ethic came naturally to me like everything else, because that's the one thing that has kept me from ever succeeding. But because I'm pathetic, I could barely bring myself to succeed at having a good work ethic for more than a week. I hate myself, I truly do.
Despite how I feel about myself and my life, I do want to clarify that I don't hate my life. I am so grateful and thankful that I have met the people that I have and I am thankful I had parents who were willing to support me. Everyone around me is better than I am and I'm so happy I got to be around such amazing figures, I just wish I could've been like that and committed to that. I'm pathetic, I have no more excuses. But I do have the question that I propose to any who have read this far: Do I stick it out, or do I just end my life already?
For all who read all of this, I appreciate you more than you will ever come to realize, even if you read it to laugh at me or so that you could have the knowledge of my story to berate me. You guys are everything, and I can only hope the best for you all. Please never end up like me, you're all surely so talented with bright futures ahead of you, I'd hate to see you be like me. Love you all!
I'm sorry for the giant wall this post is, and I'm also just sorry in general. So yeah, sorry.

2024.05.17 11:25 Longjumping-Sir-9413 please help me guys

hey reddit, nobody here knows me but im a young teen, (15) and ive really been struggling with my feelings and emotions for the past few months, both of my parents have diagnosed depression and have done for the majority of their life, ive been feeling very empty and almost emotionless recently and i dont know what to do, my mum has just started her counselling for post partum depression and anxiety so i dont wanna put more pressure on her but like i said ive been feeling down and not sure what to do, i did a little research and noticed i have a few things in common with depression symptoms such as, every night i struggle to sleep and i tend to lie in as i find it very difficult to get out of bed which results in me being late to school every day, i cant cry anymore and struggle to show emotions, ive lost interest in all my hobbies and find it difficult to go to places like the gym or continuing boxing like i used to do due to a lack of energy and motivation, my bedroom is a little bit of a mess, i play alot of video games or watch shows as a way to sort of escape reality and feel something, i always feel fatigued and tired even on the weekends when ive had alot of sleep, i have a really low self esteem and struggle to like myself, and often i find myself searching for validation and acceptance from other people
a little background knowledge about me is that i was severely bullied in primary school and resulted to binge eating as a way to cope and make myself feel better, in turn i gained alot of weight and struggled alot throughout most of my life, i’ve never really recalled liking myself or being happy of the person i am, i want to change and get back into the gym and be the best i can be especially for school as i want a good future but i always seem to give in and return to my empty self please help me try to understand myself mentally and maybe give some advice? thank you for reading this hopefully i can fix my shitty self

2024.05.17 11:25 Standard_Gur1224 Accidental litter

A friend of mine’s Scottish Fold brother and sister had a litter. Mom’s ears fold, dad’s are straight. Just to be clear. I know. He knows. I’ve already read him the riot act and papa is now fixed. It was absolutely not on purpose.
8 months ago through the network I foster with I came across a litter of Scottish folds that needed homes. Unsure of their parentage. I took 2 boys and he took a boy and girl. He didn’t get them fixed in time and now he has 4 kittens to rehome. What kind of testing should he have done to make sure they’re relatively healthy for folds? Is checking to make sure they don’t have 2 SF/SF genes or PKD1 enough?
And let’s be honest, this breed is in demand. Would it be unreasonable to get some money for them? Obviously not pedigree/breeder prices. But well above a normal rehoming fee. He’s going to be upfront about the parents and have proof of testing.

2024.05.17 11:23 TheGreatButz Recommendations for a structured application file / container file format?

I'm unsure about which format I should use for writing to io.Writer and reading with io.Reader. In this case, it's the custom file format for a little text editor but I'm interested in general answers. Options I've considered so far:
Ideally, I'd like to have something with some version checks built in and some automatic backwards compatibility, so I can recognize a file from the future and partially read it and future apps can read all older file formats. What would you recommend? Is there an existing package that takes care of the versioning? Have you had experience with file corruption? What about locking when writing?

2024.05.17 11:10 Haunting-Toe6082 I want to share my story on how I reverted to Islam

I was 13 years of age when I first saw Islam I saw a video of mufti menk with this young brother talking about Ramadan and how it’s a holy month and generous and when I saw the devotion they had in their religion I was subhanallah shocked but happy I kept learning about Islam on YouTube google tik tok ect about the Quran ect I was really considering being a Muslim then on the 14th of July 2023 near my 14th birthday I took my shahada online with a sister subhanallah that day was the best day in my life I went to buy the holy Quran that day to read it. Then I got an app called namaz app that really helped me learn my salah and now I do all 5 prayers throughout the coming months i was hiding my faith from my parents I was scared of how they would react but then that would all change when I decide to tell my mum.
She didn’t react well she was shouting at me and concerned I was talking to people online I told her I wasn’t and this is the true religion she then said that’s okay I still love you and you do you (I have patience in allah maybe someday she can be Muslim inshallah). Then I kept practicing my faith told people in my school I got more happier it school and life in general then Ramadan happened and subhanallah wallahi my faith was so good in Ramadan I miss it that is also the month my dad found out and he was fine with it alhamdulliah. Then we come to today I’m nearly 15 years old and I’m still Muslim because it is the truth. I sin we all do but as long as we repent that’s what matters. I’m nearly 15 and I’m still Muslim alhamdulliah I know Islam is the truth and I also think I know what I want to be when I’m older I’m thinking of being a student of knowledge in Islam them maybe a sheikh I know but dreams but I want to devout my life to Islam become a sheikh I’m not going to buy books on Islam to gain knowledge may allah forgive us for our sins make sure to read Quran listen to Quran and repent my brothers and sister Asalamu alaikum wa rahmatulliah wa barakatu. ( what do you think?)

2024.05.17 11:05 Tom-Brand-86 Some thoughts after my first completion

For context, I've played plenty of RPGs but none of Larian studios games before. Probably the closest things I've played have been Dragon Age and X-Com. But now, after my first 240 run, I wanted to provide some thoughts.
...Lae'zel went to her queen and Withers implied she could have been killed, but she would have been happy with that. Considering I started my romance with Lae'zel in Act 1, she then left me, then she got abducted, I then rescued her...but overall Karlach was the one I wanted. Overall it all worked out well for my team and I was very happy with the conclusion
Overall, I'd say this is one of if not the best game I've ever played. But I think there is still room for refinement and look forward to playing whatever Larian make next. Thanks for the long read - let me know what you think!

2024.05.17 11:04 selgarx Making the best out of a 10 gal

I recently got a 10 gallon aquarium (38liters) and did a ton of research on what my stocking options were. However it seems as though there’s a debate that I didn’t catch until I had already bought my fish, which revolves around the fact that a lot of people in the aquarium hobby say that neon tetras aren’t actually suited for nano tanks.
Like I mentioned I have already bought 7 neon inessi and 4 guppies (3 females and 1 male). I’m not worried about the guppies overstocking since I have a filter that does flush in guppy fry and their parents seem to eat most of their fry anyway. Also from what I’ve read the consensus is that guppies do well in a 10 gallon tank (of course taking into consideration how many of them there are).
What I’m worried about is my neons not being happy. If there’s no other way to remedy this I will most definitely get a larger tank (like a 20 gallon or maybe more) and use the 10 gallon for a single betta or something like that. However before making such an expensive decision I did want to see what you guys have to say about neons being in a 10 gallon with guppies. It’s a planted tank and measures 45x28x30 cm.

2024.05.17 11:04 AcerOne17 Daughter’s iPad iMessage and FaceTime randomly stopped working.

My daughter’s iPad randomly stopped working one day and I spent days trying to figure it out. Eventually I got fed up and I just spent the last 2 hours troubleshooting. I am the organizer for my family and I tried everything from my phone at first. I tried signing out, changing passwords, removing screen time, disabling messages from screen time and enabling it nothing worked until just now.
I was reading through thread after thread and some random comment said to make sure the iPad was connected to strong WiFi and that’s when I remembered that I had set up parental controls through my ASUS router.
The parental controls said it was for internet activity but when I thought about it for a second it all made sense. Around the time I set up parental controls via the router is the time the iPad stopped working. I deleted the profile for parental controls attached to my daughter’s iPad and seconds later all the messages I had been trying to send myself started rolling in.
If anyone is having problems with iMessage or FaceTime on their child’s iPad this may be the cause. I’m glad I can finally message and FaceTime my baby again and I know she’s gonna freak out when I tell her we can message each other again.

2024.05.17 11:01 Accomplished-Race961 Top Digital Transformation Trends in Self-Publishing for 2024

Top Digital Transformation Trends in Self-Publishing for 2024
Top Digiformation Trends in Self Publishing for 2024
Over the last ten years, self-publishing has undergone a significant transformation, and 2024 is expected to be a historic year for this vibrant sector. The digital transformation in self publishing goes beyond simply placing books on the internet; it also involves utilizing state-of-the-art technology to empower authors, improve reader experiences, and expedite the whole publishing process. Let’s examine the main themes that will influence self-publishing in 2024.

The Rise of Digital Transformation in Self-Publishing

Self-publishing has undergone a digital transformation that has improved its accessibility and efficiency beyond measure. With capabilities that were unthinkable just a few years ago, authors may now reach a larger audience and produce more captivating content.

AI and Machine Learning in Self-Publishing

Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the self-publishing scene. AI-powered solutions may assist with a wide range of tasks, including customized marketing plans and editing and formatting. By analyzing reader behavior, machine learning algorithms can provide authors with insights that will help them write stories that are more engaging.

Blockchain Technology

Ensuring Transparency

Blockchain technology is causing a stir in the publishing sector because it guarantees transaction security and transparency. All transactions are recorded by this decentralised system, which facilitates the tracking of sales and royalties and guarantees that authors are paid on time and without error.

Smart Contracts

Blockchain-powered smart contracts automate royalties and enforce copyright laws. Because the provisions of these contracts are directly put into the code, they are self-executing and guarantee that all parties fulfill their obligations without the need for middlemen.

Enhanced E-Book Formats

Interactive E-Books

With its more engaging reading experience, interactive e-books are growing in popularity. Interactive visuals, embedded movies, and clickable features are changing how readers interact with digital content.

Enhanced Reading Experience

All readers, including those who are visually impaired, will find reading more pleasant and accessible with enhanced e-book formats that include customisable fonts, night modes, and changeable text sizes.

Print-On-Demand Services

Cost Efficiency

In the digital transformation space, cost effectiveness is a crucial advantage, especially for the self-publishing sector. Print-on-demand services are a prime example of this trend because they drastically lower authors’ upfront costs.
Since books are printed just when ordered, unlike traditional publishing, there is no requirement for huge print runs or storage. This reduces waste and financial risk and gives self-publishers more flexibility in how they use their resources.
Authors can concentrate on content production and promotion by utilising digital tools and print-on-demand technologies, which can ultimately improve profitability and flexibility in their publishing journey. By 2024, this trend is expected to completely rethink self-publishing while bringing unheard-of financial advantages.

Customization Options

By offering a plethora of customisation choices, print-on-demand services are revolutionizing self-publishing in 2024 and bringing about a substantial digital transformation in the publishing business. Now, authors may customize the size, format, and cover art of their books to reflect their own vision, providing a level of personalisation that was before unachievable...Continue reading

2024.05.17 10:58 Smartyguy1 I wanna go International pls HElP!!!!

Can I join a university(VIT) and drop out in the first semester to go study in an international University? Here's my backstory in greentext format(I like it cos it's to the point)
I took a drop year so that I could apply for a japanese University
applied to 1(not many Universities offering CSE in english there) thought I'd easily get in so didn't apply (or study) for jee.
didn't get in.
Filled application for JEE(2nd attempt), VITEEE with about 3-4 months left for the exams
studied my ass off
Got about 92nd percentile in JEE(No NIT for me), so I study more, then got 21000 rank in VITEEE
Realised I don't wanna study in VIT so did big brain research to find out universities better than VIT and easy to get in with a boards percentage of 90% (I took TIMES world ranking as the hallmark).
But all the universities have later application periods
Now I am just crying and laughing simultaneously at my utter stupidity(feel free to roast man even I am baffled ) But seriously I would really appreciate your advice. I planned that I'd secure a seat in VIT then apply for the Universities and if I get accepted, I'd dropout and got there. idk If this plan is even legally possible or not(I've already contacted the VIT admissions office regarding my situation but I think he left me on read.) I seriously I DON'T WANNA STUDY IN VIT!!!!!!!
