The current rule allows brokers to send orders directly to Citadel's internal systems, giving Citadel control over the price. What the rule means (ELIA5)

The reason Citadel has an advantage is that they can trade at sub-penny intervals on their single-dealer platform, while everyone else is limited to trading in penny increments. This allows them to fill retail orders at slightly higher prices and makes them appear more skilled than other exchanges.The proposed rule would level the playing field by allowing everyone to trade at sub-penny intervals, eliminating this unfair advantage.
Additionally, the rule would reduce the rebates that can be paid, making payment for order flow much less useful. Although the rule wouldn't ban payment for order flow altogether, it would significantly minimise its impact.

• Enforcement matters. We want higher fines, bigger penalties, actual consequences.
• Investors to support additional 0.64 cents more a share to avoid being routed through a wholesaler that has been charged over 70 times by the United States government (https://files.brokercheck.finra.org/firm/firm_116797.pdf). The price improvement provided by these wholesalers is minimal and not worth the damage they bring to the market.
• Investors will gladly pay commission to avoid being routed through a wholesaler, especially one with a long record of flouting the law like Citadel Securities.
• Fully support the harmonisation of tick sizes across all exchanges. No exceptions, no "reasonable" vague language. Clear rules, clear language. Some exchanges shouldn’t be granted an unfair advantage over others. It leads to monopolistic control of parts of the market that counteract and eventually kill the positive benefits of competition. The markets are supposed to be fair - so make them fair.
• Suggest that the definition of tick-constrained, whatever it is, should apply to as much of the market as possible. The rule would be watered down if the definition is too narrow. The important thing is that everyone trades and provides quotes according to the same rules.
• Make it clear you very much dislike the presence of rebates and other inducements in the marketplace - they are simply payment for order flow by another name. We'd prefer the fees were reduced to zero, but .001 will do. No higher.
• Support the inclusion of odd-lot information in the SIP. Odd lots are a majority of trades and should have a greater impact on price. Make it clear you want odd lots to impact the NBBO and have a concrete effect on both price and broker's duty of best execution.

What the rule means (ELIA5)

The proposed rule wants to make the stock market fairer and more transparent by promoting competition among different places where stocks are bought and sold.So, say a company's stock is being sold on two different trading platforms. What the rule means (ELIA5)

Citadel and Viru utilise a "price improvement scheme" to attract order flow by claiming to offer the best trades in the market. While their performance statistics seem to support this, they often do not provide the best price available, but rather a slightly better price. This allows them to gain order flow without needing to pay for order flow.
There is a suspicion that they selectively apply the price improvement to benefit themselves. So, first part here is that I suffered a severe TBI a couple years ago, and I'm still in recovery from that. If I don't come across clear in my explanations of anything, please let me know so I can clarify the best I can.
Anyways, I'm someone who has held multiple positions in multiple companies. Some people call me a "job hopper," as I rarely stayed longer than a year to 2 years between changing jobs. The reasons though were always either that the current job wasn't giving me what I needed at that point in my life or that I was offered a better opportunity at another company. - Please everyone, don't ever let loyalty cloud your judgement when I comes to an opportunity that presents itself. The best way I ever heard it put was by a payroll executive I used to work with that said "If you want loyalty, get a dog. If you want good employees, write a check."
I've got over 10 years in high level management, mostly in sales related or team management positions. As is typical in business, management positions are typically salaried, and I was always compensated fairly well... or at least I thought I was.
One thing that I've been able to do since my accident is go back and really examine my work history as I prepare to hopefully return to the workforce soon so I can provide more for my family than basic disability insurance offers (went from making about $3-4k/mo to getting just over $1k... Yeah). As I started going through my resume, I noticed a few things that I wish I'd realized in the moment. I want to share these with you now so that you can understand my position and hopefully help some people make enlightened decisions themselves in their own lives.
Firstly, pay. While when I moved positions or companies, I always ensured I was being paid a higher amount by at least a small margin monthly while salaried, I failed to note until putting together my workload listing while reviewing my positions in each company the overall hours I was putting in due to workload expectations. An example would be where I was working on average around 50 hours a week, expected to manage a medium sized team of employees and be responsible for the location meeting sales goals. Bonuses were offered if goals were met, which amounted to around a 10% hike in pay monthly. However, the rest of the tasks I was given vastly made the pay disproportionate to the labor expected.
On a regular day, I was expected to maintain the store appearance (meaning keep it clean, restock merchandise, etc) , order any and all supplies needed for the store, including merchandise that was not indexed by the inventory system, do a daily inventory of all devices as well as a daily inventory of specific areas, 'enhance the customer experience' by communicating with the customer during the sales process (which really meant to recommend other products based on what they told me during our interaction that the sales rep might have missed), reporting progressing sales goals, keep the sales team appraised of their goal progress, do daily reports on an interaction for each sales rep by completing a 20 question form, review it with them post interaction and have them sign it and upload it to HR, review "conversion" metrix provided by an AI powered camera software that tracked who worked with what customer and tying it back to sales for the day to see how many sales were made for what value per hour per employee (myself included), personal sales, business outreach... there's more, but you get my point.
After calculating my pay per task per hour, it came out to around $3.80/hour average per shift compared to the regular hourly wage employees who made commission and hourly and got bonuses based on performance. I'm not even joking when telling you my top sales employees REGULARLY made more than I did each pay period.
This wasn't the most egregious case either, but it's the one I remember most because of the shock once I realized it.
So, the lesson from the first part here is to always evaluate your proposed workload compared to compensation, especially if you're salaried, and never let the employer value "proposed bonuses based on goals" into your employment proposal. If it's not guaranteed money IN WRITING that you'll be compensated, don't take it. Companies always move goals higher once you reach one, and eventually they'll hit a point where it's unattainable and refuse to lower their "expectations" and punish you either financially or via write-ups or termination when you don't meet their demands.
My second point for why I'll never work salaried is that companies will habitually add tasks for you to do without typically compensating you with an enhanced workforce, pay or even the necessary things needed to do it effectively.
My case in point here is related to when I was a Regional Sales Director for a company in which I was tasked with doing sales myself, as well as attempting to manage sales quotas for my region, travel all over my area doing meetings, proposals, B2B, checking in on installations of our product to ensure they were successful and positive, etc.
When COVID hit, we were dictated as essential workers, so I was still going out and having meetings in people's homes, businesses, hosting meetings at venues for open interactions with local residents that wanted to meet and ask questions, etc.
Now, where this comes into play is where we were still using carbon copy paper for our service contracts (White for our records, yellow for the customer, pink for the service order to give to the installetechnician) and when the world slowed down to a crawl, we started to run low on different materials.
My proposal to the company was to move to paperless and host all the documents online to e-sign and upload directly from mobile devices. (Keep in mind, most of the higher ups in the company were Wilform Brimley levels of cantankerous)
I was told I could test this out myself, however, I did not have any devices the company provided that would help me do this short of a budget printescanner that barely worked when I got it, and it certainly couldn't handle the overall size of the base contract we used, as it was about 1.8 sheets of regular paper long, and that was just the base contract, not even the itemized list of products and services sheet.
So, after inquiring about getting a tablet or laptop with which to do this, I was told they were going to be ordering laptops soon. Okay, that's fine. Fast forward a quarter and I'm still asking and still hearing that they're doing it "next month" or "really soon."
Finally I got fed up and requested to purchase my own tablet and use that and expense the $10/mo it would be on my cell bill plus device lease costs. I got this approved and finally got step 1 of what we needed done. The next task was getting digital copies of the paperwork so they could be filled out.
After speaking with SEVERAL people in home office, nobody seemed to be able to send me a PDF of the latest version of the paperwork we were using, so I went to a store and had them do professional scans of all the paperwork and purchased the scans myself. That's step 2.
The lesson from here is to recognize when you're asked to do something or expected to complete a task, ensure your employer provides you with everything you need to be successful in that task before you're expected to complete it. Don't accept excuses or trivialities from those in control that push you to do something you're I'll equipped for, then chastize you for not being able to do it to their liking.
Step 3 was then going line by line and making them all editable and signable. I spent hours upon hours making them as professional as possible, adding tick boxes with pull down menus to ensure that everything was clear and concise with zero margin for misunderstanding. After I was done, I was DAMN proud of the work I did, and I even saved it all as templates and sent them out to other sales reps who wanted to try it out.
After all that, I ended up closing more sales, having more satisfied customers, saved the company money by not having to order highly expensive carbon forms and even streamlined the entire process for the entire company (side note here: that's always been my specialty and why I was sought out a lot in our area, as I've always been adept at analyzing processes and building new way to streamline things without costing people their jobs by outmoding a position). All it took was hours of my own time, my own money and my own materials to make it happen. Oh, and as a closing statement, I hear they're still going to be ordering either the laptops OR possibly tablets sometime next quarter...
The third and final reason I'll never work a Salaried position again though is the overall stress and pressure placed on salaried workers specifically.
When you're Salaried, expectations are typically much higher, as you're also typically in a management titled position and/or are tasked with managing an important part of the business model to the daily operations. You're held to higher standard... which typically is honestly extremely lofty, especially when you're in a situation where you need to deal with things outside of work and are expected to essentially be "always on."
My example here is very difficult for me to talk about, as I've always struggled with my own self worth and depression, and this event pushed me to my limit and beyond, to the point that I had a nervous breakdown and actually had to take disability to get my head back on straight.
So, the position I'm speaking about was with a company where we provided security solutions and home automation systems. Let me tell you that this position itself was a great experience, as I got to meet a lot of really great people and try to help them feel more secure and confident in their home or business office... But with that also brings about regularly interacting with people recounting one of, if not their worst days and trying to not let their emotions affect you. "Stay professional" was the drum beat and while I always maintained it during the interaction, I always found myself dwelling on the details as I'd go to the next one, then the next one, then the next one.
I voiced my issues with my superior, who basically told me to suck it up and not let it get to me, but the more I tried, the more I felt like I was drowning in the evils man commits against itself. I regularly dealt with stories from the source dealing with feelings of fear, violation, trauma, loss and even death.
I soldiered on though, as I had a family of 5 to provide for and I swore I'd make it through for them... until I stopped sleeping and almost stopped eating all together. I poured myself into work, driving more than 3000 miles a month on average (Also, getting reimbursed 10% of the state milage amount with commission supposed to compensate the rest and more as an incentive to close the sale).
My breaking point was after an interaction (I'm not giving details as to specifics out of respect for the people affected and for my own sanity not wanting to relive all the details) in which a mother wanted a rather elaborate system to cover her home and was tight on money.
To be clear, our pricing for everything was rather frugal tbh, with barely any money made on the actual install and more made monthly via service contracts, but we charged upfront for estimated labor and overall equipment costs, which weren't cheap, especially with rising costs during the pandemic.
Regardless, this mother shared with me a story that absolutely destroyed me, and I was able to see first hand the damage that was done to both property and persons. My heart broke again and again and again as I saw things that made me physically ill and heard the things that happened to these people.
I watched as she cried retelling what went down, I saw her shaking in fear and rage, I felt the pain radiating off of her... and I finally broke. I hugged her and tried to console her, with her thanking me afterwards for "showing my humanity" in that moment and not being a salesbot.
I wrote up the quote for what she requested and she balked. She asked if we could do payments for the equipment along with the monthly service fees and I told her we could do 3 months direct payment for the equipment, but no more (company policy, I fought this so many times to no avail).
She said she'd get back to me, but I saw the dejection on her face knowing she wouldn't be able to afford it, even with payments.
I drove away and pulled over to the side of the road and called my supervisor. I explained that this family was in dire need of some peace of mind, and if we could do anything better. I was told "no." I offered to give up whatever commission I'd have made to put toward the upfront cost to bring it down, meaning I'd make absolutely nothing from the sale, but that wasn't my concern in that moment. I was told "absolutely not, we can't make exceptions like this, otherwise everyone will be expecting it."
After I hung up is when I truly lost it. I started bawling, shaking so hard I couldn't even hold my drink. I kept thinking that I was failing that woman, that I'd probably retraumatized her by forcing her to relive all that had happened and then walked away without doing anything for her to help. That was what sold me on working for this company in the first place, their internal motto of "we're here for the people, not the profit" spoke to me, and I shared that with my clients as a point of pride... and it all felt like a damn lie in that moment.
All of the struggles I'd been dealing with all seemed to hit me all at once, and as I was driving to my next appointment, I fell asleep at the wheel (again, I wasn't sleeping at all, max 1-2 hours a night and subsisting on fast food and a TON of caffeine to get though) and almost went into the ditch.
I thank God I was on a remote road that few people used, but that was my wake-up call to get help. I spoke with a psychiatrist who told me I absolutely had to take time off to get myself straightened out. I was prescribed a rather aggressive set of medications to help me sleep and regulate, but the true journey was to work through the demons in my head from all the trauma I had been exposed to.
Now, to the company's credit, the CEO himself was someone who had dealt with his own struggles in life with darkness and took my issue very seriously. He approved my PTO immediately and shuffled things around for my appointments I'd scheduled for the next few weeks to be covered. I'm eternally thankful for him, he helped me so much during the beginning process of taking time to get help.
One week turned into two, which turned into a month, which then turned into three months and my doctors still weren't able to approve my going back to work. It took almost 6 months before I had a return trajectory planned out, but by then I'd been moved to short term disability and then long term. I had an end in sight though and had worked through a lot of things I'd been dealing with... then I had my accident.
I fell off a rooftop over 12 feet and landed on solid earth on the top of my head. I was diagnosed with a grade 3 concussion, broken arm, loss of tissue between my skull to C1 (total loss) C1 to C2 (total loss) and C2 to C3 (partial loss) and pinched nerves/nerve damage and nystagmus (dancing eyes). The long term effects are that I have a headache 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without end for almost a year and a half now, traveling numbness and memory loss (I don't remember anything for year long spans of my life, for example, I don't remember anything of my time during my high school years).
The reason I'm laying all this out here is the response I've gotten when reaching out to my place of employment that I'm still attached to as I'm still technically on long term disability since I'm still dealing with the original issues, but they've been exacerbated by the injury... absolutely nothing.
I've reached out on several occasions to find out if I could do remote work such as paperwork filing or data entry (both of which I have experience with) as I couldn't drive for 9 months until I progressed enough through my rehab and got special glasses. No response.
I reached out to see if I could visit for the company Christmas party, as I was close with several people who had been reaching out to wish me well in recovery and wanted to see them in person and celebrate with them for the holidays... No response.
I've reached out several times to try and just get confirmation about if I was even still considered employed by the company... Nothing.
This has added more and more anxiety and stress, as I don't even know if I'm going to have a job to go back to once I'm green lit by my rehab team. The disability check I get barely covers the mortgage, and my wife is forced to work her ass off virtually every day at work to keep us afloat. I wanted to start doing part time work once I got approved for that at the beginning of this month, but due to the stipulations outlined in my disability insurance policy and my limitations my doctors recommend, I'm rather stymied on what I can do.
This is where I'm at currently. Barely making ends meet, being behind on bills and having to ask for assistance from local groups to keep the damn power on, let alone keep a roof over our heads.
I'm not asking for charity here, far from it. It took a LOT for me to even accept the local church's help to get our power bill backpay caught up so we didn't get shut off... But I accepted it for the grace they offered for the sake of my family.
I know I ranted and got a little off topic here, but my lesson for this part would simply be to recognize where you're at personally. Mentally, emotionally, physically... You're value is far more than a title or a paycheck. Don't let yourself get to the state I did and have it end up affecting you for even the short term, let alone the rest of your life. Your time here is short, and precious. Enjoy it every chance you have, and don't let a business tell you how to feel or react when you're struggling, especially due to things happening related to work. It's not worth it, at all.
Anyways, I know this ended up being a damn essay basically, but to be honest, it's been cathartic to talk about. I haven't really shared a lot of these experiences before, and I really truly hope my stories can help others avoid pitfalls I myself fell into, often without realizing.

STATEMENT OF FACTS—OVERVIEW OF STRATEGY
◦ An existing [traditional/ Roth] Individual Retirement Account is transferred to a newly formed [traditional/ Roth] self-directed IRA ("New IRA") by means of a direct trustee-to-trustee transfer or rollover.
◦ The funds in the New IRA are used to purchase 100% of the membership units of a newly formed limited liability company ("the LLC"). The IRA Owner is the Manager of the LLC. The LLC membership units issued to the New IRA are newly issued; prior to that issuance the LLC will have no units or members. All distributions from the LLC are paid to the institutional custodian of the New IRA.
◦ The beneficiary of the New IRA is determined in accordance with the beneficiary designation on file with the IRA custodian. Taxation of distributions from the New IRA to the IRA owner or their beneficiaries is in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code ("IRC").
APPLICABLE LAW
2.1 IRA Investments - General Rules. As a general rule, an IRA can make any prudent investment with certain exceptions. An IRA cannot invest in life insurance contracts. - I.R.C. § 408(a)(3). An IRA cannot invest in collectibles without creating a taxable distribution - I.R.C. §
408(m). If an IRA investment creates unrelated business taxable income under I.R.C. § 511, such UBTI will be taxable. - I.R.C. § 408(e)(1). Finally, and the central issue with respect to the Strategy, an IRA cannot engage in a prohibited transaction without loss of its tax-exempt status. - I.R.C. § 408(e)(2).
2.2 Prohibited Transactions. Prohibited transactions are defined in I.R.C. § 4975 as any direct or indirect:
(A) — sale or exchange, or leasing, of any property between a plan and a disqualified person;
(B) — lending of money or other extension of credit between a plan and a disqualified person;
(C) — furnishing of goods, services, or facilities between a plan and a disqualified person;
(D) — transfer to, or use by or for the benefit of, a disqualified person of the income or assets of a plan;
(E) — act by a disqualified person who is a fiduciary whereby he deals with the income or assets of a plan in his own interest or for his own account; or
(F) — receipt of any consideration for his own personal account by any disqualified person who is a fiduciary from any party dealing with the plan in connection with a transaction involving the income or assets of the plan. ⁃
I.R.C. § 4975(c)(1) There is a parallel provision for prohibited transactions in ERISA § 406(a)(1)
(using the terminology of a "party in interest" instead of "disqualified person"). The term "disqualified person" is defined in I.R.C. § 4975(e)(2), and the parallel
definition of a "party in interest" is defined in ERISA § 3(14).
2.3 Swanson v. Commissioner. Prohibited transactions with respect to an IRA are not only based on the applicable IRC and ERISA statutory provisions, but they are also defined by the case law that construes those statutes. The leading case that addresses the Strategy is Swanson v. Commissioner, 106 T.C. 76 (1996). In Swanson, the taxpayer formed a self-directed IRA. The taxpayer directed the trustee to purchase 100% of the shares of a corporation he formed, Worldwide, Inc. Worldwide then engaged in the export business and made profits. Those profits, totalling $593,602, were paid as dividends to the taxpayer's IRA. The taxpayer then repeated the process with a second IRA that purchased 100% of the stock in a newly formed corporation, H&S Swanson's Trading Co. ("Trading Co.") Trading Co. eventually paid a dividend out of business profits to the second IRA of $28,000.
The IRS alleged these were prohibited transactions and hence the two IRAs ceased to be tax exempt and were thus "distributed." The alleged prohibited transactions were the sale of stock in Worldwide to the first IRA and the similar stock sale in Trading Co. to the second IRA. Further, the IRS claimed that the dividends paid by Worldwide and Trading Co. to their respective IRAs were prohibited transactions.
The court in Swanson concluded that when the initial stock issuances were made, the issuing company was not a "disqualified person" within the meaning of IRC § 4975(e)(2) because the newly issued stock was not owned by anyone at the time of the sale. Thus, the sale of stock to the IRA was not a sale or exchange of property between a plan (the IRA) and a disqualified person within IRC § 4975(c)(1)(A). Swanson at 88-89.
Not only did the Swanson court flatly reject the IRS position that the transactions constituted prohibited transactions, but the court went further; it awarded attorney's fees to the taxpayer under IRC § 7430 on the ground that the IRS position was not substantially justified. Swanson at 90 ("[The IRS] position with respect to this issue was unreasonable as a matter of both law and fact").
The IRS has acknowledged, by implication, that it will not contest Swanson-like transactions in the future. In IRS Field Service Advisory 2001 [280]1, the IRS Office of the Associate Chief Counsel provided guidance to its Revenue Agents in a Swanson-like situation where a domestic subchapter S corporation made export sales through a foreign sales corporation ("FSC A") owned in equal shares by four IRAs. The profits from FSC A were paid to the IRAs as dividends. After an extensive discussion of Swanson, the analysis was:
In light of Swanson, we conclude that a prohibited transaction did not occur under section 4975(c)(1)(A) in the original issuance of the stock of FSC A to the IRAs in this case. Similarly, we conclude that payment of dividends by FSC A to the IRAs in this case is not a prohibited transaction under section 4975(c)(1)(D). We further conclude, considering Swanson, that we should not maintain that the ownership of FSC A stock by the IRA, together with the payment of dividends by FSC A to the IRAs, constitutes a prohibited transaction under section 4975(c)(1) (E). Accordingly, this case should not be pursued as one involving prohibited transactions. IRS FSA 2001[208]1 (Apr. 6, 2001).
2.4 ERISA Advisory Opinion 2000-10A. Not only has the Strategy undergone IRS scrutiny (and acceptance) as noted above, but it has also been reviewed by the Department of Labor (DOL), which has primary authority to issue interpretations regarding prohibited transactions under IRC 4975. In DOL
Advisory Opinion 2000-10A (July 27, 2000), the DOL reviewed a transaction where the owner of an IRA directed his IRA to invest in a limited partnership in which relatives and the IRA owner in his individual capacity were partners. The DOL concluded that the IRA's purchase of an interest in the Partnership would not constitute a prohibited transaction described in section 4975(c)(1)(A) (prohibiting any direct or indirect sale or exchange or leasing of any property between a plan and a disqualified person).
APPLICATION OF LAW TO FACTS
The Strategy is squarely within the holding of Swanson v. Commissioner, supra, and hence does not constitute a prohibited transaction. The key to Swanson was that "[t]he stock acquired in that transaction was newly issued - prior to that point in time, [the entity] had no shares or shareholders. A corporation without shares or shareholders does not fit within the definition of a disqualified person under section 4975(e)(2)(G)." Swanson at 88.
The Strategy involves exactly the same scenario: the LLC unity to be acquired by the IRA will be newly issued - prior to that point in time, the LLC will have no units or members. An LLC without units or members does not fit within the definition of a disqualified person under the Code any more than did the corporation that issued shares in Swanson.
Because the Strategy does not involve a transaction between a plan and a disqualified person - there being no "disqualified person" in the scenario - there is no prohibited transaction.
CONCLUSION
Both Swanson and DOL Advisory Opinion 2000-bA constitute " substantial authority" within the meaning of IRC § 6662(d) and Treas. Reg. § 1 .6662-4(d) (greater than 50% likelihood of the position being upheld) for the position taken in this letter. Moreover, the conclusions in this letter certainly exceed the "realistic possibility standard" required by Treasury Circular 230, § 10.34(d)(1)(a one in three, or greater, likelihood of being sustained on the merits), which is the standard by which practitioners must advise their clients with respect to tax reporting positions.

How to Format an Accountant Resume

There are five essential sections to your resume:

Generally Accepted Resume Principles for Accountants

Alright, so it’s not exactly GAAP, but there are some key principles to keep in mind as resume best practices. Each of these principles helps your resume stand out to land a highly-coveted interview.

Simple is best.

Debit and credit. Just like keeping the books straight requires nothing more than a couple columns and 100% accuracy, your resume is most effective with a simple and clean layout.
Skip the colors and multiple column layout to keep the focus on your skills by using the single-column structure you see in the resume example above.

Stick to the facts (no paragraphs).

You’re not submitting financials by outlining the background and context for every transaction. It’s factual, organized and streamlined for efficiency – and that’s how your resume should be, too.
Share the facts, figures and keywords of your career in lists, short phrases and bullet points. (This guide will show you exactly how to do that.)

Name + Contact

First, add your full name to the top center of the page. Make it a professional and legible font slightly larger than the rest of the text.
Underneath, add your contact information: phone number, email address and location.

Professional Headline

The first part recruiters will read is the professional headline. In three to five words, you need to capture their attention right away and make them want to read more.
This is your disclosure: succinctly divulge a birds eye view of the Accountant featured in this resume, nothing more. The rest of your resume can answer their follow-up questions.
Start with a slightly flattering adjective that puts you and your career in a positive light, like: cost-effective, analytical, methodical, economical or thorough.
Then add a word to acknowledge your level of experience: senior, executive, junior, entry-level, etc.
Finally, add your official title.
When you’re finished, your professional headline should read something like this:

Professional Summary

With your professional headline doing the heavy lifting, you now have an interested audience to read your professional summary. Keep it high-level and hyper-relevant so they see you as the ideal candidate for their open position. Here’s how:
In four lines, you’ll list targeted words and phrases that match the needs they’ve outlined in the original job posting.

• Line One: all the job titles you’d accept for your next accounting position, including the specific role you’re applying for. This might include GL Accountant, Senior Accountant, Senior Tax Accountant and so on.
• Line Two: the most relevant skills that qualify you for this job. Remember, this is a high-level summary. Everything that doesn’t fit can be included in the keywords section at the bottom of your resume template. For now, keep them interested with the assets they’re most interested in (specific revenue recognitions, GAAP knowledge, excel proficiency, etc.).

The next two lines are optional. If nothing comes to mind, don’t worry about it. The first two lines are plenty to get you an interview.

• Line Three: list any notable career achievements (significant prospecti, highlights from your work experience).
• Line Four: list any accounting awards, recognitions or promotions you’ve received.

Work Experience

Instead of thinking of your work experience as your workpapers to list your daily duties and responsibilities, think of this as your ledger (but much more exciting).
You’ve highlighted why you’re the best Accountant for the open position. Now your experience and successes will quantify your value to any potential employer.
First, list your previous accounting positions in reverse chronological order with the official job title, dates of employment and your previous employer. Use the resume example above to reference the formatting.
Under each position, add a bullet point list of the ways you brought success to the company using these three items:

Success Verbs

To keep your resume focused on the results your work brings rather than the P&Ls and SURLs of the work itself, start every bullet point with a strong success verb.
So instead of “managed profit and loss statements,” “oversaw tax compliance calendar,” or “performed all tax audit activities,” your work experience should read like a highlight reel of financial success:
Accelerated revenue growth by an average of 14% quarterly by eliminating over 100 redundant expenses from profit and loss statements. Reduced late and missed filings to zero by generating a robust tax compliance calendar that was shared within 4 departments and 42 finance personnel. Numbers

The other key ingredient to those powerful bullet points above: numerical data.
Numbers give a recruiter, potential employer or CFO a clear picture of how your work affects a company’s bottom line.
Use as many numbers as possible to show your individual impact. This might include consolidated errors, savings from your findings, company growth, profit margins, size of the company’s assets, etc.
Every number you add to your resume brings you closer to an interview request, so once you feel like you’ve added all the metrics you can, go back and try to double them again. It is, quite literally, a numbers game to get your number called for an interview.
###Promotions
Promotions show your success to a potential employer from a different perspective. If your previous company thought your work was worth rewarding and expanding your responsibilities, it’s likely the quality of your work can be repeated for the next company.
Don’t be modest. Include every promotion you’ve received.

Education

After the tedious GL-like detail of the work experience, the education section of your resume template is as easy as an index match in excel.
In the same format as the resume example above, list where you went to school, the dates of your attendance, the degree(s) you obtained and any honors or awards you received.
Everything else about your collegiate career can be left off entirely. Certifications (yes, including CPA) can be included in the keywords section below.

Keywords and Skills for an Accountant Resume

At the end of your resume is a list of keywords, skills, technologies and certifications that summarize your accounting expertise.
Even though you know what it’s like to be an Accountant, your recruiter probably doesn’t. For the skills that seem too obvious to include in your resume, include them anyway (even Microsoft Excel).

Introduction
(1) "Fictophilia" or the strong emotional attachment to fictional characters:
When I watched "Empress Ki" back in 2014, I immediately became a SeungNyang-and-Wang Yu shipper; I hated the character played by Ji Chang-wook, "Toghon Temur" aka "Ta Hwan," who was childish, immature, fearful, and easily manipulated by El Temur.
Ji Chang-wook portrayed his character so well that I irrationally identified him with his character. It's because of this irrational reason that I stayed away from Ji Chang-wook's dramas. "The K2" was aired in 2016, but I watched it only in 2020 because of the pandemic; "Healer" was aired in 2014, but it was only several weeks ago that I watched it.
It's similar to people hating Joo Jong-hyuk, the actor who played Min-woo in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo." I think that Han So-hee also received a lot of hate when she played the role of the mistress in the early episodes of "The World of the Married." It's irrational because these actors are just playing roles; it's a testament to their acting skills that they made us believe that they're actually evil, childish, or whatever.
I recently came across the term "fictophilia," which refers to "a strong and lasting feeling of love, infatuation, or desire for a fictional character." You can learn more about this topic in the 2021 study titled "Fictosexuality, Fictoromance, and Fictophilia: A Qualitative Study of Love and Desire for Fictional Characters" by two Swedish university researchers.
But I haven't found out yet if there's a term in the DSM for this irrational linking of a hated antagonist or character in a film or drama with the actor or actress who played the role.
One of my favorite characters in "A Jewel in the Palace" is Yeun-seng. Despite being childish and immature, she's sweet and kind, and I like her because she's a faithful friend to Jang Geum. The actress who played her is Park Eun-hye, whom you might now as "Lady Jin" in "Alchemy of Souls." Whenever I see her in "AoS" competing for power against the leaders of the other mage families or being cruel to Mu-deok, I would silently scream, "No, you can't do that! You're Yeun-seng, who's sweet and kind!" Ha ha.
(2) In the article "Bossam: Eps 9 & 10 On Cinematography" from the Bitches Over Dramas website, the author vents against people who pretentiously exclaim "I love the cinematography!" without being able to discuss or cite even one example of what they mean. Using shots or scenes from "Bossam: Steal The Fate," the author tells the readers to discern what the cinematographer wants to express in a shot or scene.
One of the shots from "Bossam" that the author uses in the article is this Ep. 10 picture of Soo-kyung staring out at the sea, with a rock formation behind her. The author's point is that the cinematographer wants to express the idea that Soo-kyung has become strong like a wall of rock.
While the interpretation of that shot's meaning is excellent, the author doesn't explain in technical terms what caused the rocks behind Soo-kyung to appear like a wall; the author simply says that the cinematographer angled the shot in a certain way. Here's my technical explanation.
In photography, the term "compressed perspective" refers to that visual effect of the foreground and background elements appearing to be close to each other. How does "compressed perspective" come about? A lot of photographers think that a telephoto lens (or a zoom lens set at the long end) produces this kind of perspective. Actually, it's not the length of the focal lens that's responsible for creating the "compressed perspective"; it's the camera to subject distance that matters.

Anyway, I feel the same way as the article's author; people who praise a drama's cinematography should go beyond mouthing motherhood statements such as "The cinematography is amazing!" or "The cinematography is on point!" Conversely, I'm leery of people who put down a drama by saying that "it's cinematography is dated" or "it's visual style hasn't aged well." Explain why, please! If these people are referring to the narrow aspect ratio ("Hollywood ratio" or 4:3) of these old dramas and movies, I'd say that classic dramas and movies remain relevant and popular despite their narrow aspect ratio. I and millions of other people around the world still love Frank Capra's movies such as the 1934 "It Happened One Night," the 1939 "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," and the 1946 "It's a Wonderful Life."
A. The frequent use of “crash zoom” (aka snap zoom or whip zoom) distinguishes this drama’s cinematography.
Studio Binder in its article titled “What is a Zoom Shot and When You Should Use One” explains what “zoom shot” and “crash zoom” are.

What is a zoom shot?
A zoom shot is when the focal length of a camera lens is adjusted to give the illusion of moving closer or further away from the subject. Zoom shots are done with a zoom lens, which have variable focal lengths. The most typical camera zoom types are the “zoom in” and “zoom out,” but it can also be combined with a dolly shot to create a “dolly zoom.”
Why use a zoom shot?

• To draw attention to a specific detail in the shot
• When you want to give a character power
• To emphasize a comedic or dramatic moment

Use a crash zoom for reaction shots
When a zoom shot is executed rapidly, it is called a crash zoom. When you crash zoom into a close-up, it provides energy and impact to a reaction shot. This type of shot is most associated with classic kung fu movies and can you guess which filmmaker loves kung fu movies?
Tarantino has adopted the crash zoom in a few of his films, most notably in “Kill Bill” and “Django Unchained.”

The “crash zoom” (either a “zoom in” or a “zoom out”) can be created either in-camera or through editing apps. In creating a “crash zoom” in-camera, a “parfocal lens” is used; this type of lens stays in focus while being zoomed. It can also be created by taking two shots (a wide shot and a closeup) and then combining them during editing; please read “How to Create a Low-Budget Crash Zoom from Two Shots” (Premium Beat).
Unlike Tarantino’s crash zoom shots, the crash zoom shots in “Healer” are quite abbreviated (or short) in duration all throughout the drama’s 20 episodes; the most memorable crash zoom shot is in Ep. 14 when Jung-hoo finds out that Teacher was killed inside the police station.
Examples of crash zoom shots from “Healer” (I slowed down the GIFs so that you can better see the zooming in or zooming out):
Ep. 10: After sneaking into Mun-hoo’s penthouse, Jung-hoo finds the cassette tapes and old publication titled “Healer.” The camera zooms in on him.
Ep. 11: Mun-hoo speaks to Jung-hoo on his cellphone; the camera zooms in on him twice and then zooms out of him once. The shot then cuts to Jung-hoo, and the camera zooms in on him.
Ep. 9, Part 1: Mun-hoo orders a total makeover for Park Bong-soo (Jung-hoo) and Young-shin so that they can enter the venue for Assemblyman Kim’s press conference.
(1) The camera zooms out as Young-shin looks at herself on the mirror; (2) The camera zooms out of Park Bong-soo as he looks at himself on the mirror; (3) The camera zooms out as Young-shin looks at the pink dress.
Ep. 9, Part 2: (1) The camera zooms in on Park Bong-soo; (2) The camera zooms out to show Park Bong-soo being startled as the attendant wraps the tape measure around his chest; (3) The camera pans right and then zooms out as Young-shin gets fitted for a dress.
Ep. 9, Part 3: Young-shin walks towards Park Bong-soo wearing a sleeveless red dress. The shot then cuts to Park Bong-soo, and there’s hardly noticeable zoom in on him as he’s dumbfounded by Young-shin’s transformation.
The most creative sequence of shots in this drama is in first 90 secods of Ep. 14 with several crash zooms, slow motion, rack focus, and great background music. This scene was brilliantly staged, shot, and edited.
(1) Jung-hoo arrives in front of the police station; as the lifeless body of Teacher is being brought out on a stretcher towards the ambulance, the camera zooms in on the stretcher. (This is not seen in the GIF.)
(2) The shot goes into slow motion as Teacher’s left hand drops to the side of the stretcher, and the haunting classical music starts.
(3) In slow motion, the camera zooms in on the shocked Jung-hoo.
(4) As the camera pans to the right, the left arm of Teacher becomes out of focus as Jung-hoo in the background becomes in focus; notice that Jung-hoo is slightly boxed in by the stretcher’s legs.
(5) No longer in slow motion, the camera zooms in on Jung-hoo as he staggers backward in shock.
B. Did the visual style of 2014 and 2015 K-dramas set the template for today’s dramas?
I’ve watched five dramas that were aired in 2014 and 2015, namely, “My Love From The Star,” “Empress Ki,” “The Joseon Gunman,” “Six Flying Dragons,” and now “Healer.” Except for “Empress Ki” and “Six Flying Dragons,” the visual elements that distinguish these dramas are:

• short siding
  
• overly dramatic Dutch angle shots
  
• dramatic low angle shots
  
• lower quadrant composition
  

All these visual elements are used in today’s dramas as you can read in my previous analyses.
(In “Six Flying Dragons,” I think I only saw three short sided shots: one shot of Bang-won in Ep. 16 and two shots of Cheok Sa-kwang in Ep. 32 at the 2:01 and 3:22 marks of this compilation video.)
I’ve only watched less than a hundred K-dramas, and so I can’t make categorical statements about how the visual style of K-dramas have developed or changed through the years, or if indeed the visual style of 2014 and 2015 K-dramas set the template for today’s dramas. For example, overly dramatic Dutch angle shots can also be seen in the 2012 historical drama “Bridal Mask” aka “Gaksital.”
(I’ve seen the 2009 “Shining Inheritance” aka “Brilliant Legacy” and the 2012 “May Queen”; I don’t recall seeing short sided shots, overly dramatic Dutch angle shots, etc. in these dramas.)

In Ep. 17, Young-shin meets Myung-hee, her biological mother, for the first time. After Myung-hee suffers from a seizure, she leaves the house; along the way as she walks in a pensive mood, she meets Jung-hoo. In several OTS (over the shoulder) shots of Young-shin talking with Jung-hoo, she’s frame right. There are also three shots of Young-shin where she’s shot from the side; notice that she becomes increasingly short sided in these shots.

From the limited number of K-dramas I’ve seen and the research I’ve done from English-language resources on the Internet, these are some highlights in the development of cinematography or visual style of K-dramas:
(1) The 2010 historical drama “Chuno, The Slave Hunters” starring Jang Hyuk was the first K-drama shot with a digital camera, that is, with the revolutionary Red One camera.
(2) ALEXA, the high end brand of cameras for cinematography, was first used in K-dramas with the 2013 “That Winter, the Wind Blows” starring Song Hye-kyo. An ALEXA camera was also used in “Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.” You can read more about this in “ALEXA in South Korea.”
(3) Netflix has invested millions of dollars in the production of K-dramas. I recently read that Netflix dramas now use the 2:1 aspect ratio; I think that recent dramas such as “D.P.” and “My Liberation Notes” were shot in the 2:1 aspect ratio.

Perhaps, there are Korean-language articles or studies that discuss the development of cinematography and visual style of K-dramas. It’s too bad that I can’t read Korean.
C. From lead room or looking space to short siding (similarities of two shots in Ep. 7 and Ep. 11 of “Healer” to several shots in “A Business Proposal”)
Overview: Some directors and cinematographers use short-sided shots to depict anger, distress, conflict, confusion, etc.
In my analysis of the visuals, cinematography, and editing of “A Business Proposal,” I praised the cinematographer’s technique of moving the camera such that a character is at first with lead room or looking space and then becomes short sided. There are four or five of these shots in “A Business Proposal”; here's one example.
To my big surprise, I saw at least two shots in “Healer” where a character was at first with lead room or looking space and then became short sided. “Healer” was aired in 2015, and “A Business Proposal” was aired early 2022; this is part of what led me to think that the visual style of 2014 and 2015 K-dramas set the template for today’s dramas.
Ep. 7: Min-ja orders Jung-hoo to stay away from Young-shin and to go on a vacation to Australia fir a year to let things cool off. But Jung-hoo refuses, having become suspicious of Min-ja and Teacher’s motives. As he stands outside the building where “Someday News” holds office, his suspicions and determination to find out what’s happening is depicted and reinforced when he is at first with lead room or looking space but as the camera arcs clockwise, he becomes short sided.
Ep. 11: Mun-hoo challenges Jung-hoo; as the shots cut between him and Jung-hoo, he’s shown with lead room or looking space. As the camera trucks (moves parallel) to the left, he becomes short sided.
D. Similarly composed short sided shots in Ep. of “Healer” and Ep. 6 of “Our Blues”
In Ep. 6 of “Our Blues,” there’s a static shot of Yeong-ju in the doctor’s office; she and her reflection are both short sided.
You can see in this shot from Ep. 8 of “Healer” that Myung-hee and her reflection are both short sided. On the other hand, the GIF shows how this excellent image was staged by the director.

The YT video “The Brilliant Cinematography of Parasite” (5:04 mark) shows how director Bong Joon-ho used lines to depict the division between the social classes, between the rich family and the poor family.
Examples of visual cues from “Healer”
Ep. 17: Young-shin meets her biological mother, Myung-hee, for the very first time and in a day that happens to be her birthday. During their talk, she finds out that Myung-hee did not abandon her. After Myung-hee suffers from a seizure, she goes to the kitchen where she sees the biscuits and other delicacies that Myung-hee has always prepared for her on her birthday. Her conflicting emotions of joy, sadness, and confusion are depicted and reinforced by the frame of the door that boxes her on. This shot was brilliantly staged by the director.
Ep. 14: After getting a call from Min-ja urging her to look for Park Bong-soo (Jung-hoo) who’s in mortal danger, Young-shin rushes into the building. Her confusion and concern are depicted and reinforced by the railings on an upper floor and the circular logo on the floor that box her in.
Visual cue as a foreshadowing device in Ep. 18: The Elder calms down when his assistant warns him that there’s a reporter and two police officers outside the compound. Notice that as he lights the incense stick on the table, there’s only a hardly noticeable Dutch angle shot of him and Jung-hoo. In the next shot (a closeup), however, he’s shot with a dramatic Dutch angle. We don’t know what’s happening at that point. About a minute or more, the smoke from the incense stick knocks Jung-hoo unconscious, giving the Elder time to escape without being noticed by Young-shin and the police officers outside.
F. Miscellaneous observations
F-1. Ep. 17, The reveal: As Myung-hee talks with Young-shin in her room, Secretary Oh surreptitiously calls up the “Elder” in Mun-sik’s study.
(1) There’s an establishing shot of Secretary Oh talking to the “Elder” on the phone; he’s frame left while a darkened wall dominate the right frame.
(2) After some shots of Secretary Oh and the “Elder,” we then see a shot similar to the establishing shot. As the camera then trucks (moves parallel) to the left, the darkened wall disappears from view, revealing Jung-hoo looming over Secretary Oh. As Secretary Oh becomes out of focus, Jung-hoo becomes in focus.
F-2. Leading lines
Studio Binder in its article titled “Rules of Shot Composition in Film: A Definitive Guide” says: “Leading lines are actual lines (or sometimes imaginary ones) in a shot, that lead the eye to key elements in the scene. Artists use this technique to direct the viewer’s eye but they also use it to connect the character to essential objects, situations, or secondary subjects.”

F-3. One point perspective
From Wikipedia: A drawing has one-point perspective when it contains only one vanishing point on the horizon line. This type of perspective is typically used for images of roads, railway tracks, hallways, or buildings viewed so that the front is directly facing the viewer.
From "Filmmaker’s Handbook: What is one-point perspective?": Quick Answer: One-point perspective is a way of crafting cinematic shots with near-perfect symmetry. The composition of these shots draws the viewer’s eye to a specific focal point within the frame, absorbing them into the dimension of the shot and manipulating the experience by telling them exactly where to look. It also elicits an emotional response, typically of uneasiness or dread.
Ep. 11: Two rows of candles lead Young-shin to her mysterious date with Healer.
F-4. Minor rant against a Dutch angle shot in Ep. 16
Young-shin gets a call from Myung-hee, who says that she has agreed to do an interview. She rushes out of the house but is then pressured to get into a car with Mun-sik, who takes her to his office at Jaeil News Company.
In this scene at the office, Mun-sik and Young-shin are shot with a Dutch angle, with Mun-sik lower in the frame while Young-shin is higher. The camera should have been canted to the right so that Mun-sik is higher in the frame; this would reinforce in the viewer’s mind that he’s dominant over Young-shin.
Compare the Dutch angle shot above with the Dutch angle shot of Mun-sik and Young-shin inside the car; Mun-sik is higher in the frame because of the Dutch angle and thus appears to the viewer as dominant, with Young-shin appearing uncomfortable in the situation she was pressured into.

When it comes to the right traders mindset and controlling emotions I was the worst trader in the world. Day trading especially wasn't for me at all. I got massive fomo when price shot up or down or if the price didn't move I clicked trades out of boredom. And when I lost I got frustrated and I clicked more trades and increased the size. Until I was in the state I didn't care about my account anymore - I just needed to be in the trade. I had it all gampling addiction, revenge trading etc.. So the starting point wasn't very good.
I started my trading endeavor just by opening a live account and started swinging without knowing anything - I taught myself really bad trading habits. I think since strong emotions are involved with adrenaline and dopamine rush, those habits go deep into the nervous system. So it has been a long road to rewire myself, but if I can make progress - anyone can.
Also it’s important to know that ability to analyze the markets comes first and trading them successfully comes later. They are 2 different skills and the latter is a more difficult one. Many are good analysts but still cannot trade themselves.
There was no single method that did it for me, but it was a combination of these all and time. Unfortunately I don't think there is a shortcut but there are definitely longer routes if one doesn't address the core problems directly.
so here is my list for myself when I was starting - I hope it helps somebody out there:

1. realize that you are the problem, not the market. Markets can be traded profitably if you get yourself aligned with proper trading mindset. We are hardwired to be bad at trading, so use more time working on yourself than looking for some perfect strategy.
2. trading can be exciting as gambling unfortunately for some of us. Clicking the trade button gives a dopamine rush that can be addictive - be careful. You don't want trading to feel exciting - you don't want to feel anything when winning or losing. You are just doing your job.
3. Trading causes strong emotions and emotions are energy in your mind AND in your body. Energy wants to be spent and spending it clicking the trade button is a bad way to spend it. If you get emotional power by frustration or excitement - you need to unload. Do something physical. Go to run. Do push ups. Dance around. don't come back to markets until the build up is spent and you are calm.
4. Meditation practise is good for settling you down. I do Tai Chi myself. I bet yoga is good as well. Pure meditation is the hardest since it can be unbearable for an agitated mind - if that's the case do something more physical first.
5. Wim Hoff method: Cold Showers/baths and deep breathing. If you have not tried these - give them a go. Can be life changing in many areas and there is something very fundamental about the cold exposure and there is a lot of anecdotal evidence (and some medical) that it can help with depression and emotional regulation. His deep breathing and breath holding technique is the best I know of for calming the mind down very quickly.
6. Keep a journal next to you and write your market observations down. I got this recommendation from Linda Raschke. She has a basic template for writing down the price down every half an hour plus the highs and lows for the day. She also likes to write down any commentary about what's happening. This keeps mind more focused on what's really happening and the hands off the trade button.
7. If you are too eager to just trade, try following exercise for a few weeks. Mark your levels to your charts and then just watch. Don't trade. Just learn to watch the price and don't get excited. Just see what the price does and journal the observations down.This was very difficult for me to do, but really helps.
8. For those who are also self destructive and like to blow their accounts. I definitely had this side in me. I did perform very well for some time and then just destroyed all my results in a day. This was giving me a major headache and nothing seemed to help. I just occasionally out of nowhere I just go crazy and destroy all my results. Doing meditation I slowly understood that I was carrying a side in me that just took over now and then. Like a demon. After recognising that in me I try to get rid of it - but nothing worked. It was not until I changed my approach completely and decided to make friends with the side in me that wanted to destroy any success I had in trading. So for some time I did the meditation and talked to this side of me. It's part of my personality, maybe it wants to help me somehow, but the end result is not very good. This helped tremendously. Before trading I made sure me and my "trickster" (I actually gave it a name) were both aligned and he is not going to ruin my session. This was the key. Over time this side started naturally to fade away and I don't have to do that anymore. If you have this kind of unfortunate tendency - try to make friends with that side of you.
9. If you trade almost purely in a discretionary style like I - try to see if you can implement a few simple mechanical rules to your trading. Something Like: If trading under US open I only look for short trades - or if we are over VWAP my bias is long..etc. This definitely helps if you are biased and the market is not behaving according to your bias and you are just taking loss after loss.
10. Give yourself the time you need to change. Modifying your psychology won't happen overnight but even with a totally lost case like myself a massive progress can be made, but it takes time. Forming a new habits takes months not a day. A change and realization can happen and do happen in a day - but it takes time to solidify. There is nothing wrong going back to demo and keep ironing the issues.

To make the progress faster for yourself: Don't try to change everything at once. Choose 1-2 worst offenders and make a specific plan and just to work with them for a few weeks. Mike Bellafiore makes a good point that if a trader says that "He needs to build more discipline" it's totally useless for him. It's too vague of a statement. A Trader needs to make a very detailed plan to tackle a very specific problem. "I'm too early in my trades' ' that's more specific and now you can build exercises specifically just for that problem. You reap the results way faster this way.

We started off with a budget of $25,000 based on online averages. Soon we found even with “average” nice places, that was not realistic. Early in the process my parents offered to gift us $20,000 which was so generous of them and allowed us to create a more accurate budget.
Ultimately our budget/cost was $50,000. This didn’t really include or wedding bands as we viewed this as a separate jewelry and my dress or bridesmaid dresses which my mom also generously covered. However even with those we kept within that budget more or less. We didn’t include the honeymoon and gifts for the wedding party in the budget.
His parents kindly hosted the rehearsal dinner. We did grazing plates (pizza, bruschetta, nachos, buffalo cauliflower kind of thing) at $25pp and provided one drink ticket each.
We covered the balance from savings, about $12.5k each, which we were comfortable with.
RSVP
Our numbers are a bit skewed because of COVID, but we invited 198 in total and in total 142 RSVPed yes (incl us lol). A majority of the no’s were international guests. Once we knew the international guests couldn't come (quarantine on return to home country), we invited more. We had set out for about 150 guests when planning.
Beef - 76, Chicken - 38, Vegetarian - 8, Children's Meal - 19, 1 baby
Had a family of 4 not attend because of COVID. Venue was kind and packaged their meals for us to go.
Prices inclusive of 13% tax where applicable.

We got married at our church. Although the organist was not mandatory we also hired the organist for the ceremony. We made a separate $200 donation, because the volunteers in general were so helpful at our church in preparing the gardens and printing our programs (black and white). We bought gifts for our pastor and volunteers at the church separately.

We got married at a southern Ontario venue. Think modern with glass pavilion. We used their in-house caterer (required). It included tables, linens and cutlery, etc., and they let us use their chiavari chairs at no cost because their basic chairs were looking rough. There was a mandatory 20% service charge. Since the venue was a not for profit there was no HST (sales tax). We checked and the service charge included gratuity and staff are paid living wages so we did not further tip staff.
Venue rental fee was $2,100.
Food included choice of 4 hors d'oeuvres circulated during cocktails. Three course dinner for $109.20 per person (includes required 20% service charge) We ordered 6 vendor meals (reduced cost of $63.60 [incl service charge] which included the salad and entree only). Open bar was $52.20 pp for 1 hour for cocktails and 5 hours. Standard liquor. Dinner was served wine. Children's meal was $58.20. Teen bar $19.20 pp.
We did late night poutine. I only wish we took this home too!
The venue offered some decor rentals like flameless candles and paper lanterns and we hired them for take down (about $650).
Day of Coordinator: $1,200 (tax and travel fee waived as a COVID special)
Had two Zoom planning meetings. They created a schedule. They came to our rehearsal the day before. They managed the whole wedding day. They also set out all our decor.
Photography: $4407 (11 hour day with engagement session) - $113 (videographer referral) + $35 (donation) - $113 (donation) = $4216 for 2 photographers
We had a long day as we had a tea ceremony. Our photographer let us apply one hour from our engagement session to the wedding. They also don’t charge if they aren’t taking photos like travelling (but they don’t break up hours). If you donated $35 to a specific charity you got a $100 discount.
They specialize in photojournalism. I think/hope they got good shots!
Videographers: $2595 + $250 (ceremony edit) - $100 (photographer referral) = $2,645
2 videographers, full day coverage, 1 minute teaser trailer, 3-5 min highlight video.
Can add on speeches edit for $250 and raw footage for $500.
This isn’t his full time job so we won’t get back our edit for 6 months but we are ok with that.

I think she did a good job. She was very affordable but I think the makeup all lasted as it needed. Didn’t receive a touch up kit. Hopefully photos will look good! One assistant did hair and one assistant did makeup. My bridesmaids' hair looked so good! I paid for my bridesmaids’ hair and make up. I just wanted to treat them to it.
Nails: $70 at my salon
DJ: $1,000 + $200 tip
No tax (COVID special). DJ also MCed and brought assistant. He was awesome. He never DJed at our venue but he handled all the technical stuff. He was a recommended vendor at another venue we were looking at so we figured he was good. He played the music we wanted but also kept an eye on the audience
Cake and Donuts: $745
3-tier cake (6”, 9”, 12”) ($475) and 13 dozen donuts ($270). Included delivery and florals for the cakes which matched perfectly and greenery for the donuts. Also included cake stands for the cake and donuts with returnable security deposit
This was the dessert table of my dreams. She executed it perfectly. The cake was so good. We had maybe half the cake leftover but we are ok with that. We weren’t planning on saving the top tier but there was a lot of cake. We asked her to leave some cake boxes for leftover cake.
There were about 4 dozen donuts leftover. We also bought take home boxes from a restaurant supply store ($64 for 100) for guests to take home donuts so we had a manageable amount of donuts. The donuts did get a bit stale into the night so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it but we don’t mind. We purchased our own cake knife and server ($23)
Photobooth - $621.50 ($500 + $50 travel free plus tax) plus $50 tip
3 hours - did not include set up time/take down in the coverage hour. Even with travel fee he was more affordable than other photobooth companies. No complaints. Responsive on email.
Shuttle Bus: $876 plus $140 tip
Yellow school bus. 12 hour coverage essentially — door to door but also didn’t charge for time if had a minimum rest time. We really didn’t want guests to drink and drive. Our venue is close to hotels but there was an event going on so rooms were $$$. We did a room block at a hotel in the suburbs and then got this shuttle.
Limo: $960.50 plus $200 tip
5 hours of service with 2 bottles of champagne and water. The wedding party was originally going to take the school bus as well to get to venue and some juggling of cars for the church but my mom really didn’t want that. She paid for the limo.
Stationery: $320
Glue gun ($20), Printing ($152.55); Panel pockets and envelopes ($89); Wax ($23); Seal ($15); Glue tape ($24); Paper cutter ($20) - used gift card
We did online save the dates for free on With Joy. We did our own stationery but I still wanted nice ones. I lucked out in finding a stationer having a clear out sale on pockets and envelopes. This saved me the shipping fees from Cards and Pockets to Canada. I got a custom seal from Etsy but it was made in China. I ordered the wax from Amazon - Uniqooo brand. I think it held up on the outside envelope — ask for hand cancelling — but probably not worth the stress.
Our local printer printed our invitation and inserts and envelope liners. They also printed our envelopes with addresses which was a godsend.

• We made our own fake floral arrangements and put 3 per 12 person table (2.5’ x 12’). We bought florals from Michael’s the previous year on sale.
• We used 3 SHEIN scarves (3’ x 6’ folded in thirds so they would be a foot wide) per table which looked like gauze table runners. This was inspired by a Wedditor. We had to wash and steam the scarves and fold them in thirds. This took some time but I think it was worth it if you want the look.
• I made our welcome sign using the acrylic/plastic of a large frame I had for some reason. I printed out the wording on multiple sheets of paper poster style. Then I traced it with a Sharpie paint pen. Then I painted the back with acrylic paint. Venue provided easel.
• We bought a 100 page pack of cardstock from Michael’s. We used this to print menu table number trifolds and all the place cards. I think I was being cheap by not using Avery place cards. I also wanted to mail merge the place cards and didn’t know how to do that with the Avery template. It did take a couple hours to cut and fold but it worked out.

Attire
Dress: $1,921
Alterations: $440 (hem, cups, take in, straps)
Suit rental: $170
Dress was Stella York. Dress took 7 months to arrive which is what they quoted.
Alterations - I chose someone local and recommended by another boutique. Maybe she isn’t the cheapest but I really loved my bustle. Also no tax if you paid in cash.
My mom made my veil from tulle from Fabricland.
Shoes I will be wearing them to work so not counted into budget.
Hotel for 2 nights: $556
Wedding bands: $1,500 - two bands (not incl. engagement ring) it was a bit of a splurge too but I wanted a custom band that could be flush against my low set engagement ring.
Other - Floral preservation - $495. This was a splurge but I fell in love with the preservationist's work. Hope this will be an heirloom.
What Went Wrong

• Very little
• Maybe one or two children escaped while we were doing our parent dances, but it wasn’t too bad
• For some reason I booked the limo half an hour shorter than was scheduled. We thought we could add extra time on the day (willing to pay) but the driver had another job so we ended up being really rushed. Our bad but we also were only 15 min late so I don't know why they booked so tight.

What Went Right

• The day was really perfect
• I didn’t love having an 18 month engagement but it allowed us to save and to look for sales.
• We used WithJoy for our website. It was amazing for RSVPs especially because we had to give meal selections to the venue
• We used Allseated to layout table assignments. It was stupid inputting meal selections because you can't import that for some reason but it paid off because our venue said we were really organized
• We lucked out with the weather. It was forecasted to be drizzly. For all our photos we were able to do them outside. Our cocktails were held inside instead of outside as planned. It didn’t rain but it was muggy so that was good. The night was clear and the kids could be outside throughout
• Get cake if you want cake. Just have a plan for leftovers!
• The photo booth is still a popular feature!
• We had a lot of kids at our wedding. It was our choice. There weren’t really any interruptions during the ceremony. They were able to run outside in the garden during dinner which helped a lot. A couple kids escaped to the dance floor during the parent dances but it was ok, I think.
• The guest book was good! A lot of people signed it including the kids which was really cute seeing their kid writing. Also luckily no defacing lol. We did a photo book of our engagement photos from Mixbook. The sharpie thin liner worked great, no smudging. The DJ reminded everybody to sign it too. I wouldn’t say a guest book is necessary but this time it worked out really well
• If you have time and are dedicated I found that some vendors have Instagram sales of old stock.

We did a photo book of our engagement photos from Mixbook. The sharpie thin liner worked great, no smudging. The DJ reminded everybody to sign it too. I wouldn’t say a guest book is necessary but this time it worked out really well

• Develops security strategy plans and roadmaps based on sound enterprise architecture practices
• Develops and maintains security architecture artifacts (e.g., models, templates, standards and procedures) that can be used to leverage security capabilities in projects and operations
• Determines baseline security configuration standards for operating systems (e.g., OS hardening), network segmentation and identity and access management (IAM)
• Develops standards and practices for data encryption and tokenization in the organization, based on the organization's data classification criteria
• Develops standards for Data Loss Prevention and Role-Based Access Controls
• Drafts security procedures and standards to be reviewed by Director of Cyber Security
• Establishes a taxonomy of indicators of compromise (IOCs) and share this detail with contributing parties within the technology group

Assurance
​

• Tracks developments and changes in the digital business and threat environments to ensure that they're adequately addressed in security strategy plans and architecture artifacts
• Validates IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risks, where applicable
• Validates security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, IPSs, WAFs and anti-malware/endpoint protection systems
• Conducts or facilitate threat modeling of services and applications that tie to the risk and data associated with the service or application
• Ensures a complete, accurate and valid inventory of all systems, infrastructure and applications that should be logged by the security information and event management (SIEM) or log management tool
• Coordinates with DevOps teams to advocate secure coding practices, and to escalate concerns related to poor coding practices
• Reviews network segmentation to ensure least privilege for network access
• Reviews existing and new deployments for alignment to Zero Trust
• Supports the testing and validation of internal security controls
• Reviews security technologies, tools and services, and makes recommendations to the broader security team for their use, based on security, financial and operational metrics

Collaboration
​

• Assists in conducting security assessments of existing and prospective vendors:
• Software as a service (SaaS) providers
• Cloud/infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers
• Managed service providers (MSPs)
• Evaluates the statements of work (SOWs) for these providers to ensure that adequate security protections are in place. Assesses the providers' SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 audit reports (or alternative sources) for security-related deficiencies and required "user controls" and report any findings
• Coordinates with operational and facility management teams to assess the security of operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) systems
• Works with cross-functional teams to share best practices and insights
• Participates in application and infrastructure projects to provide security-planning advice
• Works with the internal audit (IA) team to review and evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of security-related controls
• Provides technical guidance and assists in training security junior staff

Requirements
A successful Cybersecurity Architect candidate will have the expertise and skills described below.
​

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity or a related field.
• Min 5 years of security experience in a similar role.
• Min 3-5 years of IT Sysadmin, Application Programming, or Network Security experience

Security and Technical Experience The security architect should have direct, documented, and verifiable experience with the following:
​

• Direct, hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of managing security infrastructure — e.g., Email Security, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), web application firewalls (WAFs), endpoint protection, SIEM and log management technology.
• Verifiable experience reviewing application code for security vulnerabilities.
• Experience securing CI/CD pipelines.
• Direct, hands-on experience or a strong working knowledge of vulnerability management tools.
• Documented experience and a strong working knowledge of the methodologies to conduct threat-modeling exercises on new applications and services.
• Experience designing the deployment of applications and infrastructure into public cloud services.

Certifications
The security architect will evidence his/her knowledge of security and risk management through ongoing continuing professional education. The ideal candidate will maintain one or more of the following certifications, though they are not required:
