2024.05.19 03:16 diahdjakaj123 For small business owners, Productivity or efficiency?

Im not sure if this is the proper comparison that can explain what I wanted to say, but for those who are currently struggling by having a lot of supplies but slow process and vice versa, how do you usually cope up? We have a small business that expanded last year, and ever since, we're having a hard time coping up with the supplies to our clients. I have doubts on hiring more employees (we currently have 17 employees atm), doubts because it is almost rainy season and it's the season that lessens the demand in our business, but if I wont be hiring more atm, our production can't keep up with our current orders, and if if ever I hired more, and struggled in the rainy season, it can affect us because we have a huge payroll. It's been confusing me for quite some time already..

💲 G M E 💵 The Green, Cash-and-Criminal-Siphoning, Tornado-Spawning, Category 6 Hurricane of Our Evolving Stock Market
1. Intro, 2. Developments, 3. Business Tailwinds, 4. Technicals, 5. TLDR

1. Introduction

Just as meteorologists propose that a new 'Category 6' is needed for Hurricanes, a new category 6 financial event is clearly needed to describe what is happening, and what will continue to happen, with the Monstrous Hurricane that is GameStop Corp. This cash-siphoning hurricane continues to properly-serve GameStop Corp's long term shareholders.
https://preview.redd.it/6qwncfnl3a1d1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81c535c7bf5d19290992da697333183e6eeadb09
Just as no man can control the weather, no firm (Citadel, Virtu, Amazon) can control the stock market. Detailed below, and as an effect of Citadel/Virtu's/Amazon's failures, GameStop is actively swallowing up equity in the stock market in a manner that can only be described as a green, cash-siphoning Hurricane

2. Developments

"DFV" Week
"DFV Week" may be behind us. There could be more weeks of tweets. We will never know. Yet, it can be summarized what the man, myth, and legend was telling us:
From a psychological perspective, Roaring Kitty expressed himself through his tweets considerably well. He 'memed' to us that GameStop has influenced his life at this point, that people in his social circles still don't really understand him and routinely make fun of him as being 'the GameStop guy'. He missed us. He misses streaming and investing. He misses the market.
He chastised his friends who now all-of-a-sudden care about him, now that he's on the news again. GameStop has come to define him, and he doesn't really know who he is anymore: but what he does know, is that he wants to do the right thing. He truly feels as if his ''return'' is an aspect of him doing the right thing. Advocating for his company that he is still clearly a part of, likely by ownership of droves of shares.
The government and regulators, however, are watching him. He feels trapped. He feels alone. As someone who regulators do not want communicating on the market, he is a main character against a criminal syndicate that has impacted all sectors and most countries. He understands the importance of GameStop as it relates to fixing the broken system that has led to Generation Z and Millennials having the lowest societal-fraction of wealth in history.
"Hang in There"
SuperStonkers are wise enough, and zen enough, to realize that it is not likely that DFV tweets ten times a day for the remainder of the year. That takes a lot of work, whether he led a team to create those memes, or made them himself, it was clearly a gargantuan effort. He has been dying to 'return' for a long time now: 3 years. And he made his return, whether brief or not, legendary.
He ended the week with a clear message:
  1. Short sellers are in dire straights: they no longer have any sense of a bear thesis, and GameStop is only beginning its business dominance
  2. Bad actors, both regarding SHF and other subs, are under the microscope. It's 'out of his hands' and 'the cops are coming' to get bad actors.
  3. There is no rational 'exit strategy,' and that it is a clearly a strong idea to hold the stock forever to collect depositaries/dividends/subscriptions/warrants/etc over time, and that it could be a family-friendly investment that provides long term dividends in a manner that can be transferred by trust to your family.
  4. Hold on / Hang on / Buy More because something 'big' is coming
https://preview.redd.it/jb191yun3a1d1.png?width=623&format=png&auto=webp&s=942d13d382c490c2fbadd1fbfec2ee0d23dd53df
GameStop's Friday Filings: Dividend Discussion
CEO Ryan Cohen owns a considerable amount of shares of the company. Yesterday, GameStop Corp announced implications of how its shareholder dividend(s) could look over time via the implementation of its Preferred Stock 'Depositary' Shares . These shares, for each series, will be used for voting and will count as preferred shares. They apparently cannot be sold short. They may be in the form of cash distributions or non-fungible-tokens since GameStop has already created its non-fungible-token website and infrastructure. These depositary shares, for voting purposes, can be voted upon by mail and will have the powers of preferred shareholders.
Holders of GameStop Common stock can receive the depositary shares via Dividend
Today's filings with the SEC reveal substantial information about how GameBank ($GME) can issue its dividend using either cash assets, any legally approved assets, etc.
On Friday, and as many here have pointed out, Barnes and Noble stock went up over 200% due to issuing a subscription to shareholders. This subscription allows all stock holders on issue date to buy 17 more shares at the listed price in the paperwork.
Guess what: the share owners have to be located to issue said subscription, and there are only as many issued as there are shares. The mechanism for this? All shorts must close with this option. This is additional to the previous option I stated today. Which MOASS option will Ryan Cohen choose? He could choose any, depending on how he feels while drinking his morning tea. He could initiate MOASS now at the sleight of hand, impending now at any time.
This is when GameStop would likely sell their 45 million shares, so they profit as much as shareholders will, perhaps for a quick $5 billion dollars more in cash on hand. The S-3SR filing for the right for GameStop to issue subscriptions to stock holders.
Example of How Quickly this can occur
9th of May - Barnes and noble releases registration statement declaring their right to issue subscriptions (we are here, since GME released their declaration of right today)
14th of May - Barnes and noble issue prospectus to shareholders that they grant the subscription right
17th of May - date of subscription rate issue and 200% price increase (note that it is estimated that GameStop Corp with current 1.5 Billion shares visible as 'on loan' has been sold short roughly 100x more than Barnes & Noble was, so GME's rise would be much higher than 200%)
According to the Options Clearing Corporation, there are now 1.5 Billion GameStop shares on loan
Impact on short sellers during a subscription issuance
As one redditor yesterday put it: "When a company offers subscription rights to its shareholders, it can significantly impact short sellers in several ways:
Obligation to Cover Rights: Short sellers may need to cover the cost of the subscription rights if they are borrowed and sold shares. This means they might have to buy the rights in the market to pass them on to the holders of the shares they borrowed, potentially increasing their costs.
Price Adjustment: The stock price usually adjusts to reflect the value of the subscription rights. This can affect short sellers because the value of the shares they are shorting changes. If the rights are valuable, the stock price might drop by an equivalent amount when the rights are issued, impacting the short seller's position.
Complexity in Managing Positions: The introduction of subscription rights adds complexity to managing a short position. Short sellers need to keep track of the rights, understand their value, and manage the timing of their actions to cover any resulting obligations. This could involve additional transactions, which increase costs and risks.
Potential for Short Squeeze: If the subscription rights are perceived as highly valuable or if many short sellers need to cover their positions simultaneously, it could lead to a short squeeze. This happens when short sellers rush to buy back shares to close their positions, driving the stock price up.
In summary, the issuance of subscription rights can increase the costs and risks for short sellers, potentially leading to a more challenging environment for maintaining a short position."
GameStop (GameBank) could also rebrand $GME through a new offering. The company could then do some kind of restart that force closes all shorts and then they start off as a new company (a company restart where we get a share for share type of thing, get paid, then have cash to buy the new company i.e. GMERICA). It may be true that the news shares would only be purchased through computershare and booked.
This is very legal: GME has added new companies (i.e. the $217 Million that is now unaccounted for) and is therefore already a “new” company.
On this, it can be expected that a new price runup occurs next week. GameStop Corp, if it sells 45 Million shares immediately into this high-volume, would then have about $2.5 Billion dollars in cash on hand.
It had been prophesized for years that Keith Gill would return, GameStop would set up the lethal bear trap, and that the "Legally-Approved Mother of All Short Squeezes" would be the only rational conclusion, followed by a company with such high reserves, that it would survive forever. This is the cash absorbing, rapidly-rising share price, company of GameStop today.
https://preview.redd.it/a2ktdg1x3a1d1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20e0e7dcdb01e30d92e1c080560f9bca82ea0336

3. GameStop's Business Tailwinds

Ken Griffin and Jeff Bezos have financially-collaborated on several projects together
While it's clear that Jeff Bezos is enjoying the wealth that was mostly created by the naked-short-selling complex that unfairly allowed his company to benefit at the expense of his competitors (i.e. collused targets and subsequent corporate victims), Ken Griffin is the one who is depicted in recent photos as being under more stress than his business collaborator
Ryan Cohen is taking on Amazon (in business), and Citadel, and Virtu (market makers) directly. Although Ryan Cohen already bested Jeff Bezos in the pet arena with Chewy, he is clearly showing an intent to dominate Amazon across gaming and all other business sectors

4. Technicals

MOASS is still actively playing out
12 days ago, I disclosed in another sub [from a technical perspective] that 'MOASS' was starting. There was a clear chart breakout of a 3-year long wedge. Then it became clear: that about 500 Million FTDs would be on the books.
"FTD Train Stacking" Failures to Deliver need to be bought back
There were $7 Million worth of FTDs from March 28th, 2024 to April 2nd, 2024 (a two day trading period). C+35 from those dates is May 2nd, 2024 to May 3rd, 2024 (the first dates that GME's price started accelerating). Thus, there is lock-step evidence of the first 'FTD train' being stacked, and broker dealers being too overwhelmed (i.e. no shares available) to settle them. Thus, since the goal of bad actors who FTD is to hopefully buy the shares back at cheaper prices this week... if price is not cheaper (it's not)... then they become even more overwhelmed. This exact same FTD "train stacking" phenomenon is what led to the GME Sneeze of January 2021, in perfect 35 day volume-infused runups that were indicative of FTD buybacks in accordance with Reg SHO Rule 204.
I presented this image 9 days ago depicting the current trend
Bears are begging for a downtrend, yet even with a downtrend, a Fibonacci Retracement right back to $60 is anticipated
Bulls are expecting an uptrend back to retest $125
Options
Max pain for May 17th for the majority of the week was $18, but the week ended at $22. Options are handsomely-undergoing 'gamma ramps', as they have since May 2nd's initial MOASS-evidencing price rise. The price has began this process around $10 per share.
Max pain for each week is inching its way higher, which reflexively increases share price
I presented this chart in 2022 to help describe the bear-trap and gamma snake, which shows gamma ramps after a low point in the chart. Technicals reveal the current low was in late April 2024, and that GameStop is now experiencing the right-hand gamma ramps in May.
Options gamma ramp-ups are yet another accelerant to this process, and an early-January-2021 similarity is present in current ramp up.
GameStop is a green hurricane with spawning tornadoes, each of which actively absorb cash. GameStop, in effect, is actively swallowing up the global equities market
All of this is, to me, is a watershed moment and is thanks to all of the teamwork by GameStop's board, officers, employees, and shareholders- all of whom led to the company's current profitability, debt-free stature, and its strong and rapidly-growing cash position.

5. TLDR

GameStop Corp's mixed shelf filing, and its discussion of dividend and subscription information, is now leading to a position where short-sellers have no idea where the exit is. Ryan Cohen has shut multiple doors on them at once.
For the sake of their financial survival, short-sellers of GameStop need to get out. Ryan Cohen and the board showed on Friday that they are aware of this. Subscription and/or dividends are able to force short sellers to be obligated to pay.
Short-sellers only alternative now is to go through GameStop's shareholders (via share price rise for the demand to meet the limited supply) and/or GameStop itself now (cash infusion). Further, FTDs for the last 2 weeks have to be bought back, and options gamma only makes this messier for those still short (1.5 Billion shares, 5x the float, is shown as loaned out). Technicals clearly reveal that 'MOASS' is still actively playing out.
Further, like in 2021, GameStop is rapidly accumulating cash [even though the price is still 100% higher than what it was two weeks ago] through a minor offering while the price is in the middle of a price runup. This further evidences that the board was confident that there would be a 2021-like 'sneeze' starting here [at the minimum], but that they know the company's market cap will continue to grow in sync with its price rise.

🌪 💵The only name for this can be described as a "green, Category 6, stock-market Hurricane with tornadoes" that quickly siphons up cash, as GameStop Corp actively takes over and dominates the global equities market 💵🌪

2024.05.19 02:29 Esani What if more days were added to Dragonsteel Nexus 2024?

I understand that this is highly unlikely, but I figured it doesn't hurt to throw the idea out there.
There was a very obvious mismatch with supply and demand with the convention this year. In the weekly update, Brandon said that in the first hour alone they had 10000 people trying to get 7500 tickets. This is just the number of people who showed up in the first hour, not including others who may have been working or asleep at the time.
As we have learned, the current convention dates are constrained by whatever other events are going on at Salt Palace on Dec 5-7. Adding more people to the current schedule will be over capacity and is not an option. Additionally, adding too many people could diminish the experience if it gets too crowded.
But what if instead of adding more people, we added more days? While it's still unclear what the schedule is for the other event(s) at Salt Palace that weekend, there may be some gap in the event schedule in the following week. For example, if the event space is not booked on the Monday and Tuesday of the following week, those days could be booked and another round of tickets could be sold for the "Dragonsteel B" days. Perhaps another "release party" for Wind and Truth could even be held for those that couldn't make it to the original "Dragonsteel A" convention.
Benefits to this:
More sales for Dragonsteel - Considering there were at least 2500 other people just at the initial ticket drop who couldn't get tickets, it would be very easy to sell a large number of tickets for Dragonsteel Nexus B days, possibly doubling revenue from tickets alone.
More sales for vendors - More days means more customers, which means more sales
More tourism dollars for SLC - encouraging more people to travel to SLC during this time will help boost the local economy
More concrete numbers to know future demand for Dragonsteel Nexus - This would be a better way to gauge how much space will be needed in future years.
Possibilities to trade tickets between the original date tickets and B date tickets for the people who wanted to go as a group and got split up - I have been seeing a lot of posts on the subreddit about people who wanted to go with friends, but the group got split up because some people were able to get tickets while others weren't. In these situations, people could trade A day and B day tickets via the escrow service so that they can go together with their friends and family.
Crowds - Adding extra days prevents the overcrowding problem that Brandon mentioned in his weekly update.
Discourage scams - If more tickets are available, this will lessen the likelihood of people who are desperate to get tickets from falling for scams.
Compensate for technical difficulties with tabletop.events - Even if you showed up at the initial ticket release, you may not have gotten tickets because of technical difficulties with the website. This will give those people another chance.
Encourage positive relationship with Salt Palace - Fans would be incredibly grateful to the convention center if they were given an opportunity like this.
More happy fans - Since we all want to be there to experience such a big event for this community.
Possible Downsides:
Planning - Would definitely require more planning, but hopefully the additional revenue from the extra tickets and merchandise sales would compensate for this
Availability of Panelists - Inevitably, not all panelists would be able to make it for the extra days. This could be remedied by making the B day convention shorter (ie make Dragonsteel B just 2 days instead of 3)
Labor - Adding on extra days would require extra labor hours. However, given how important this event is, it would not be surprising if there are a large number of people willing to volunteer at the convention to make this work.
Inventory - some goods might get sold out during Dragonsteel A that people from Dragonsteel B would want. Perhaps there is time between now and the actual convention to make extra inventory to accommodate for more people? Additionally, while buying the goods is great, I am sure that many people would be happy just to be there even if there was not as large of a selection of merchandise.
Convention Space Bottleneck - All this would still hinge on the availability of space at Salt Palace and whether they would be willing to have that space be used.
Conclusion:
Can't pretend that this is a perfect solution to the current problem. However, given the circumstances, there really was no perfect solution. That being said, adding extra days for a "Dragonsteel B" would lead to thousands of satisfied fans, more revenue for all parties hosting and selling at the event, more flexibility for people wanting to go in groups, and more concrete information to predict the number of people attending in future years. While it would be tricky logistically, flexibility with the scheduling and inventory could account for this. Overall, this solution would require some flexibility on the part of Salt Palace and those in charge of the convention, but it will undoubtedly be a profitable move that will satisfy thousands of fans.

2024.05.19 02:03 FreeBirdwannaB MOASS still mathematically feasible ? BUY THE DIP HODL

MOASS still mathematically feasible ? BUY THE DIP HODL
Regarding the controversial and historical GME short position trading manipulation and whether or not the MOASS by default is still feasible and just math; can it still happen ?
I read that short interest is 24% of the float but the Dark ? Short interest is really 58% of the float - so even 58% is not a crunchy certainty anymore.
It used to be that the shorts were blatantly 140% of the float and no one was selling so the shorts couldn’t cover which drove the price up by default and the MOASS was inevitable.
You Gotta Be In It To Win It 🙌💎
I put it to OPENAI for a tl:dr overview -
The discrepancy between the reported short interest of 24% on 306 million shares and an actual 58% short interest on the Dark Market can be explained by several factors related to the way short interest is reported and the nature of dark pools. Here's a breakdown of the possible reasons:
  1. Reporting Delays and Gaps:
    • Public Short Interest Reports: The 24% short interest figure might come from publicly available data which is typically reported bi-monthly. There can be significant changes in short positions between reporting periods that are not immediately reflected in public data.
    • Real-Time Data in Dark Pools: Dark pools, which are private exchanges or forums for trading securities, may have more current and comprehensive data on short positions. The 58% figure might reflect a more real-time assessment of short interest.
  2. Dark Pools and Hidden Liquidity:
    • Dark Pools: These platforms are used by institutional investors to execute large trades without impacting the public markets. Trades conducted in dark pools are not immediately visible to the public market, hence the term "dark".
    • Hidden Short Positions: Short positions executed in dark pools might not be included in the publicly reported short interest figures, leading to an underestimation of the true short interest.
  3. Synthetic Short Positions and Derivatives:
    • Synthetic Shorts: Investors can create synthetic short positions using options and other derivatives. These synthetic positions can replicate the effect of short selling without actually borrowing and selling the underlying stock. Such positions are often not included in the traditional short interest calculations.
    • OTC Derivatives: Over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives traded in dark pools can significantly increase the effective short interest without being captured in public short interest reports.
  4. Naked Short Selling:
    • Naked Shorts: Unlike traditional short selling, where the seller borrows shares before selling, naked short selling involves selling shares without borrowing them first. This practice can inflate the number of shares sold short beyond what is reported, particularly if it occurs in less regulated environments like dark pools.
  5. Hedge Fund and Institutional Activity:
    • Hedge Funds: Large institutional players, such as hedge funds, may engage in extensive short selling activities within dark pools. These activities might not be fully reflected in public short interest figures.
    • Algorithmic Trading: Advanced trading algorithms used by these institutions can quickly establish and unwind short positions, making it challenging for public reports to capture the full extent of short interest at any given time.
  6. Regulatory Differences and Reporting Standards:
    • Different Reporting Standards: There may be different standards for reporting short interest in different venues. Public markets have strict reporting requirements, while dark pools may operate under different regulations, leading to discrepancies in reported data.
    • Intra-Market Discrepancies: Different markets and trading platforms may have varying methods of recording and reporting trades, contributing to inconsistencies in short interest data.
The significant difference between the publicly reported short interest of 24% and the 58% short interest on the Dark Market can be attributed to factors such as reporting delays, hidden liquidity in dark pools, synthetic short positions, naked short selling, and the trading activities of large institutional investors.
All combined can result in a much higher effective short interest than what is publicly disclosed.
A short squeeze occurs when a heavily shorted stock experiences a rapid increase in its price, forcing short sellers to buy shares to cover their positions, which further drives up the stock price.
However, predicting a short squeeze with mathematical certainty is extremely difficult, if not impossible, because it depends on a variety of factors that are often unpredictable.
Here’s why mathematical certainty is elusive and what conditions might lead to a high probability of a short squeeze:

Factors Leading to a High Probability of a Short Squeeze:

  1. High Short Interest:
  • Short Interest Ratio: A high percentage of a company's float (the shares available for trading) being sold short can indicate a potential for a squeeze. A short interest of 20% or more is often considered significant. In the provided scenario, a 24% short interest is already quite high.
  • Days to Cover: This is the number of days it would take for all short sellers to cover their positions based on average daily trading volume. A higher "days to cover" ratio increases the likelihood of a squeeze, as it indicates that it will take a longer time for short sellers to exit their positions, putting more upward pressure on the stock price.
  1. Catalysts:
  • Positive News: Unexpected good news, such as strong earnings reports, new product launches, or favorable regulatory decisions, can trigger a price surge.
  • Market Sentiment Shifts: Changes in market sentiment or investor perception can also cause rapid price movements. For example, a strong social media campaign or a high-profile investor's endorsement can shift sentiment.
  1. Liquidity Constraints:
  • Limited Float: A stock with a small float can be more volatile, and a sudden demand for shares (from short sellers covering their positions) can cause significant price spikes.
  • High Demand: If there is high buying interest in the stock, whether from retail investors, institutions, or both, the demand can outstrip supply, forcing short sellers to buy shares at increasingly higher prices.
  1. Margin Calls and Forced Covering:
  • Margin Calls: If the stock price rises significantly, short sellers may face margin calls, requiring them to deposit more funds or cover their short positions.
This forced buying can accelerate the squeeze.
Mathematical Considerations:
While it's not possible to guarantee a short squeeze, certain mathematical indicators can signal a higher probability:
  • Short Interest to Float Ratio (SIR): A higher SIR suggests more significant potential for a squeeze.
  • Days to Cover (DtC): A higher DtC indicates that it would take longer for short sellers to cover their positions, increasing the risk of a squeeze if the stock price starts to rise.
Loose Calculation Example:
Given: - Total shares: 306 million - Free Floating share: 268 million - Short interest: 24% - Average daily volume: Example if it’s 10 million shares
Loose Calculations:
  • Shares short: ( 268 x 0.24 = 64.32 million
  • Days to Cover: 64.32 million/10 million= 6.43 days
A high number of days to cover (above 5) suggests that if a squeeze begins, it could be prolonged and severe.
Key Takeaways:
  1. No Certainty:
There is no mathematical certainty of a short squeeze because it depends on market behavior, which can be influenced by unpredictable factors like news, sentiment, and liquidity.
  1. Indicators:
High short interest, high days to cover, and potential catalysts can increase the likelihood of a squeeze.
  1. Market Dynamics:
Understanding the interplay between short interest, market demand, and liquidity is crucial for assessing the probability of a short squeeze.
While certain mathematical indicators and market conditions can signal a higher probability of a short squeeze, predicting one with certainty is not feasible due to the inherent unpredictability of the market and investor behavior.

2024.05.19 01:51 outofthebox21 Oversupply Help

Hello!
I’m a FTM and gave birth on 5.12.24. Baby is doing really well in terms of weight. She weighed more at 5 days old than when she was born when it’s typically normal for baby to lose about a 1lb within the first week.
I think I may have an oversupply of milk and am struggling on whether I should use a pump or not yet. She was doing really well the first few days then one day she just kept spitting up milk. I was told she has a great latch, she’s eating, but sometimes she can only eat 5-7 minutes on one breast or 15 min total on one breast.
I do have a pump at home but my doula suggested not to start yet since its supply/demand and my body and my daughter are both learning the flow. However, I have lumps on my breasts which seem like my ducts are blocked. When she feeds, it’s slightly relieving but comes back shortly.
I don’t want to introduce her to the bottle yet. My sister gave birth a month ago and exclusively formula feeds so I can give my excess pumped milk to her while keeping my daughter on the breast.
I’m just torn on what to do since I’m only 6 days PP. Maybe I’m just going through engorgement? Idk. Help! lol

2024.05.19 01:47 chocobeaus Computer shuts down when optimizing cores with Ryzen Master

Pretty much what the title says. Back when BG3 released I had this issue a lot while playing it. Computer would just randomly shut down and start back up on its own rather quickly. Event Viewer showed error 46 about component: memory. My temps are completely fine with both GPU and CPU (CPU was 55-60). I thought it was my PSU so I replaced it with a Corsair RMx Series RM850x 80 PLUS Gold but problem still persisted. Nothing is overheating, RAM passed on memtest, ran cinebench and stress tests that all passed as well.
Then it hit me, maybe it’s because I optimize cores with Ryzen Master to undervolt my Ryzen 7 5800x. Disabled optimizer and the problem went away. Fast forward to now, I reoptimized my cores and was playing Big Kitty Little City. Game stuttered and shut down happened. Didn’t even think it was a visually demanding game for that to happen.
My computer is a prebuilt which I have updated the PSU, AIO (Corsair iCue H100i Elite 240mm) and fans so far. Otherwise here are the other specs:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1720818-REG/ibuypower_slatemr_289a_gaming_desktop.html/specs
Any idea why this happens? What can I do other than just never being able to optimize my cores?

2024.05.19 01:45 Komunizm-Delisi Help me understand “exchange value”

Hello dear comrades. Please correct me if any of my understandings are wrong:
1) Exchange value is an abstract concept.
2) If a commodity needs more socially necessary labour time to be produced, it will be more valuable.
3) Socially necessary labour time (SNLT), also means socially necessary production cost because the components need to produce a commodity also has their own exchange values in terms of money.
4) An example: With the current technology, let’s say, an automobile needs 3 weeks of SNLT to be produced -or it’s production cost, let’s say, 3000 dollars. That is the abstract explanation. An automobile company could produce it much expensive but could it not for less?
5) If a company decides to produce automobiles, supply and demand will determine its price on 3000 dollars (that is the worth of 3 weeks of labour time, or simply the production cost in our example). It could be sold for 9000 dollars, 15000 dollars or 2000 dollars or whatever the price is. 3000 dollars is an abstract centre. It is the price that supply and demand will rise or decline on.
6) Please explain the concept further if I missed any points.
Thank you so much for your time.

2024.05.19 01:43 Scared-Antelope7622 A scene I wrote from a writing prompt

Prompt: The Variants of Vampires. Think of an alternative vampire that survives on something other than blood. Write a story or scene based on this character.
As the sun faded over the horizon, Vlad’s eyes opened slowly. A sigh escaped his cold lips, and he stretched his long legs onto the red velvet lining of his coffin. Another day has come. He thought sadly, as he had everyday for last 206 years.
He checked his timepiece in the left chest pocket of his silk pajamas, 8:36 p.m. Thankful for the spring sun that set earlier than it would in the coming months, he pushed on the heavy hardwood lid of his resting place. With a creak the wood swung open, landing heavily to the side. While a modern coffin would no doubt be lighter, and easier to open every evening, this one was sentimental to him. As he had been buried in this exact coffin 206 years ago, at 35 years old.
With a heavy sigh, Vlad rose and climbed onto the step that sat beside his coffin. His stomach rumbled, and he knew he had no choice but to venture to the kitchen of his estate home. With his head hung low, he began to undress.
You see, Vlad was not like other vampires. His long life was full of loneliness, even for one who was undead. When he had first been turned by his Maker he was optimistic, excited even, for the wonders of the world he would be able to see. With no time limit, no fear of death, and an infinite supply of food walking the earth- the possibilities stretched before him like the vastness of the night sky.
However, Vlad was unable to satiate the hunger that filled him, that turned him into a ravenous beast, night after night. The mere thought of blood churned his stomach, much to his Maker’s chagrin.
Isabel was her name. Even the thought of her filled him with longing. Her had loved her once, and she him, until they learned the truth: Vlad could not be sustained by blood, but one of the things that all Vampires feared: Garlic. Of all things. The thought still flooded him with embarrassment, even after more than two centuries of living as a Vampire.
He climbed the steps from his dirt cellar, whose entrance lay hidden behind a false door that led into the Master bedroom of his estate. He lifted the heavy wooden lever that would propel the door open to his closet. The clever vault disguised by many shelves of his expensive leather shoes. He kept an armoire near his coffin for convenience, as sometimes he awoke before the sun had set. A terrible habit he picked up 50 years prior.
He wound his way from the closet into the room, down the long hallway, and the curved staircase to the first floor. His heavy footsteps echoed eerily in his quiet manse, as his staff had already left at the end of their workday, thinking that he was abroad on business. A ruse which was quickly growing thin. Soon I shall have to replace my staff again, how much easier this dreary life would be if I could simply drink from them. He mused.
Vlad had no excitement for the night, as even the mere smell of his skin repulsed those of his kind. He was unable to rejoin his coven, the one that he had briefly reveled in. Expensive goblets of crisp red blood he could not drink, dances and guests from around the globe each night, the women with their necks adorned with jewels, some thought long lost to the mortals of the world, but safely stashed in the secret rooms of the elites of the Vampire world. The men in their black tuxedos, fashionable hairstyles and long white teeth often exposed in laughter. His tenure in his coven had been short, merely days, but it had been a lifestyle he mourned. He and Isabel had tried to make things work… But this train of thought was far too painful, and his stomach panged once again, so he quickened his steps and focused once again on his coming meal.
He made his way into the back kitchen, not the formal kitchen he would have likely entertained Isabel in (if he was a “normal” Vampire), but into the staff kitchen where the fridges were, and food was prepared and stored. Rows and rows of dried garlic bundles hung from the exposed wooden beams, all harvested from the garden on the grounds.
Vlad once again rued his life, as he wished the preparation of his meal didn’t fall to him each night. But he reached up and took down a bundle, released a corm from its tight knot, and sat at the stool at the quartz countertop, grabbing for one of his Japanese Damascus knives that made his task of slicing his garlic head easy.
Briefly inspired, Vlad decided a garlic comfit would be nice, and he got to work.

Apple limits the development and testing of third-party browser engines to devices physically located in the EU, forcing browser makers to have staff in the EU
  • Apple's new policy under European law allows third-party browser engines on iOS devices in the EU but with a challenging limitation: development and testing must be done on devices physically located in the EU.
  • This geographical restriction creates a significant barrier for browser-makers, especially for those whose development teams are based outside the EU, limiting their ability to compete.
  • Prior to iOS 17.4, Apple mandated all web browsers on iOS or iPadOS utilize Apple's own WebKit rendering engine, restricting competitive differentiation and browser engine innovation.
  • The European Commission has initiated an investigation into Apple's practices to determine if they comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), aimed at ensuring fair competition and choice in the digital sector.
  • Despite the new policy allowing for third-party browser engines in the EU, significant concerns persist about the imposition of Apple's restrictive terms and their potential to limit competition.
When Apple announced its plan to comply with the DMA by allowing alternative browser engines in the EU, developers were concerned that supporting a separate EU browser could be problematic. These concerns were not unfounded. One industry veteran described the contract terms as "bonkers" and doubted that any vendor would agree to them, highlighting the broad and sweeping nature of Apple's conditions as an attempt to circumvent much of the DMA by contract, which he labeled as "certainly bold."
"Apple isn't serious about supporting web browser or engine choice on iOS," Parisa Tabriz, VP of engineering and general manager of Chrome at Google, wrote in February. "Their strategy is overly restrictive, and won't meaningfully lead to real choice for browser developers."
The geographic restriction imposed by Apple raises peculiar operational challenges, such as a hypothetical scenario where a security issue arises and the top expert, located in the US, must physically travel to the EU to test and fix the issue on a real device. This example underscores the impracticality and rigidity of Apple's approach to compliance, shining light on the intricate dance between regulatory demand and corporate response in the tech landscape.

2024.05.19 01:15 Gazooonga Diary of a Press-Ganged Saurian (#1/?)

Just another fun little story idea I had. I am still working on Humans are the violent ones but I like to bounce around and experiment with ideas to see what I really like. I also suck at writing more casual stories, as they give me severe writer's block as I try to map out how to make a scene feel genuine in my head, but I promise I'll update that soon. If you like this story and want to see more, then like and comment. I'll gladly continue this series as well.
Start of Personal Log
Humans don't like being told what to do. They don't like being commanded, put in their place, or snubbed. It was an inexorable, inalienable trait of humans, at least any noteable humans, to go against any authority that they believed was against their interests.
Humanity would not fit amongst the stars. Few ever did. It was a trait of most successful species to be willful, ambitious, and to desire more. But once they reached the stars the new (and simultaneously very old) pecking order either quashed any spirit such species had or simply eradicated them. Countless tomb worlds and diaspora served as painful reminders of what became of the nails that chose to stick out. The hammer of order would always strike. There could be no compromise, the very soul of the authority that held the Jurisdiction together relied on a show of unmatched power, or at least the illusion of item.
In reality, the Jurisdiction was an old, fat, and lazy beast. It filled its belly on the corpses of empires far and wide, and sated its bloodlust on the shattered dreams of hopeful cubs. It had every right to, for none could challenge it: there were no new frontiers to explore, nor were there any other enemies to conquer. The Milky Way, as humans had so strangely dubbed our cradle galaxy, as well as Andromeda, had long since been warred over and settled for millennia before humanity had arrived, bright-eyed and with familiar yet otherwise foolish dreams of cooperation and prosperity. The Jurisdiction did not cooperate, nor did it ensure prosperity. Oh, it claimed it did, but in reality it simply took. The rest was just the peace that came with not being the direct target of the biggest fish in the pond. The humans didn't like that, but they had no choice.
Slavery was a common tribute. The Jurisdiction had no use for other resources: it simply took. No, it wanted those who could facilitate that unequal exchange, those raised in a world where the only morality was the one set by your lord. The Jurisdiction was held together by expectations, obligations, and dury more than any kind of shared dream, so when you were ordered to take you did so without question. Humanity was new: they had no niche or value that set them apart, but they had a penchant for killing and taking, so the Jurisdiction gave them a taste of how the galaxy worked. They killed and they took. The humans didn't like that, but what choice did they have?
Humans were strange. They learned, but not in the way most species learned. Most species learned to adapt in a passive way, to adhere to the world around them. They flowed like water, moving past and around obstacles and confirming to the boxes they were assigned too. Humans didn't confirm, nor did they adapt: they made their circumstances fit their desires. They would not move around obstacles, but rather smash through them, and they refused to stay in one box for too long. The Jurisdiction merely saw them as a particularly loud nuisance, but those who faced their wrath knew better.
It is said that when a beast seeks to make an example, it shall humble its rival by killing it's cubs. Children were one of those universal constants that brought entire communities together: the Sok’klar saw their hatchlings as gifts, shaped by the fruitful currents of the universe in perfect harmony. The Yarrack saw each and every newborn whelp as an uncut gemstone, ready to be shaped into something magical. Humanity oftentimes referred to their offspring as angels, or spirits of unbridled good sent by the gods themselves. Children were seen by most of the galaxy as gifts.
The Jurisdiction saw them as a lever to inflict suffering. It had become quite effective at enacting psychological punishments on those that stood up and spoke out. You dare to disobey? You believe you can speak out? Your gifts shall be taken from you, and you shall be without joy.
Humans didn't like this, but the Jurisdiction would have their pound of flesh, and humankind would kneel. And they did. But humans were patient creatures: most species who retained that trait of willful spit also lacked patience.
I had long since become desensitized to the Jurisdiction’s actions: it was simply how the universe worked now, as if it were a constant akin to gravity. Cruelty was the unspoken rule of this seemingly unending age, where our lives never appeared to move forward or backwards, only lay dormant. The Jurisdiction had been the unyielding authority that ruled the galaxy for thousands of years, venerable yet feared all the same.
And for the longest time I was just another cog in its wheel. My name is Kalnuracht Sedjuur-Noumar VII, and was the scion of the noble house Sedjuur-Noumar. I was born into what most would describe as veiled apathy, living a life that could be attributed to the privileged class of feared scribes that enacted the will of those above. I was an administrator and nothing more. And now I am doomed to be far less than that in the eyes of my former constituents within the endless administration. I am the only scion, as is tradition, and without an heir I am the last of my house, our name to be scrubbed from the records, worthless, meaningless, and forgotten.
I am merely Kalnuracht, nothing else and nothing more. I have seen from their eyes, the eyes of the downtrodden, and it makes my crimes of association with the Jurisdiction feel all the more damning on my worthless soul. I am worthless to the world, and this is my story.
End Personal Log #1
Start of Neural Lace Narrative Log #1
They came from the black like carrion birds in the night, encircling our convoy as if it were a dying animal ready to be picked clean without remorse. There was no warning, no list of demands sent out as civilized peoples did, nor was there either any requirement for unconditional surrender nor chance to parlay, as was done so under letter of marque: this was an unmistakable call for violence and nothing else. They sought to reduce us to slag and scavenge the rest.
So, as one would expect, the entire bridge of the ship was nearing a panicked state. This was not the actions of those practicing civility, but rather the common behaviors of despoiling barbarians, the kind that tore their way through the dark reaches of the galaxy as if they owned it.
“Wayfinder, what do your probes see?” Shouted the ship’s sovereign. He was an older Kar’Rowmach, an amphibious cephalopod species with a venerable history within the Jurisdiction going back thousands of years. Normally one such as him would be above me if it weren't for the fact that I was under the authority of the Jurisdiction’s seal of office. He didn't like me very much, but most of his kind shared the same sentiment.
“All dark, honorable Sovereign: the sensor arrays are wailing but the feedback we're reviewing is beyond incomprehensible,” the wayfinder replied with a certain restrained temper in his voice. The Sok'klar wayfinder swayed gently, his tentacled limbs grasping different metallo-liquid braille output arrays, the liquid gallium flexing and reshaping unnaturally to allow him to to take in multiple different sources of sensory output at once, with the primary navigation computer plugged into the cybernetics surrounding his opaque, gelatinous head and plugging directly into his tube-shaped brain.
The Sovereign cursed in Loskat and pointed to his bridge crew while I simply sat in the back, near the Sovereign’s symbolic throne. “Prepare countermeasures and spool up the warp drive, we cannot allow the amanuensis to be taken! He carries sensitive information that only he can translate and transcribe!”
As the bridge crew nodded and began fiddling with their own systems, I preened my feathered hide anxiously. I wasn't a fighter: us nobles of the cloth were the educated minority above all else, not those who waged war or partook in hard labor. Special cybernetics in my brain allowed me to translate triple-encoded messages that usually took a ducal signet codekey or above to parse, but even without that I was a skilled mathematician and logician. I had terabytes worth of knowledge stored within the hardware installed in my head, all well protected of course, but if I were to die it would still be a waste. I could only imagine the damage any malcontenders could do with it if they were able to get their filthy hands on me.
Suddenly, the ship rocked, and the gallium overhead display began to form crescendos like I'd never seen before. “Sovereign, decks A-3 through C-12 are venting atmosphere and our coolant systems have been obliterated,” the Wayfinder spoke in an almost serene voice, as if he was completely unconcerned by current events. I knew they were simply incapable of tonal displays, but it was unnerving nonetheless. “Once we jump, we will not be able to risk another until the vacuum of the void can reduce temperatures to acceptable levels within the plasma capacitors.”
“Damn them,” the armored nautiloid hissed, his barbed feelers coiling in frustration, “May the currents take them. What are our options? what can we see? This fleet cannot fall to the void today, not with such vital cargo.” My hackles rose lightly at the Kar’Rowmach referred to me as some object rather than an esteemed amanuensis of the Jurisdiction, but I bit my forked tongue. Now was not the time to squabble with the sovereign over who was what and what titles I deserved, not while he was so desperately attempting to keep what semblance of order within his fleet that he had left.
I could not blame the crew for being panicked either: wars were practically mythologized now, having been long since rendered obsolete with the rise of the Jurisdiction, and that felt like an eternity ago. Now, either being levied into or joining a ducal naval force was simply another career, more akin to serving as an officer of the law rather than a fully fledged soldier. Minimal training was required, most of it being the technicals of one's duty rather than any kind of combat conditioning, so expecting a fleet to actually be prepared for a combat scenario in a universe where peace was the norm was laughable.
“We are practically blind, Sovereign,” stated the Sok'klar Wayfinder, “our probes are offline, and shipboard graviton displacement sensory arrays have been rendered unreliable at best.”
“What about the particle emission array? Has there been a spike in radioactivity where we were hit?”
The Wayfinder seemed to think for a second, his gelatinous form flexing and morphing a bit before answering. “Affirmative, a jump from negligible to forty billion becquerels along decks A through E-5 on our starboard side.”
“Torpedoes…” the Sovereign hissed, stroking his barbed feelers, “Human Torpedoes. Only those primitives would rely on crude nuclear warheads.” He then turned to his militant leaders on the ship. “Noddos, Rel’ads: organize your phalanxes and prepare to repel boarders. We are bound to be assailed by those rancorous primates, and I want their skulls piled at my feet if they dare set foot on our ship.”
“Your wish is our command, Sovereign,” the two militant commanders spoke as one. Noddos, a large bipedal with multiple sets of curved spines running down his back, a pair of graceful horns sprouting from his head, and multiple rows of sharp teeth in his snout, bowed first, followed by Rel’ads, a marsupial with long saberteeth and thick fur. They both must have been fierce warriors in their own right to each lead a phalanx. They wore thick, semi-powered armor and held dueling polearms alongside their usual plasma casters, and seemed completely unfazed by the situation we were in. As they stomped out of the brightly lit bridge, I let out a quiet squawk of discontentment. “Sovereign, why haven't we jumped again? We are wasting precious time.”
“I am working on it, you spineless beaurocrat!” He warbled back, his feelers tensing in anger, “besides, it's not as if you're the one who will be spilling blood today, amanuensis, so flatten your wretched beak or I shall weld it shut with a plasma torch.
I was about to reply with something indignant, but the ship rocked again, this time causing the lights to flicker and the air to become… thick. The skin under my feathers began to blister, and I became lightheaded and confused. “Seal the damnable vents, initiate radiation scrubbers, and activate secondary life support!” Shouted the Sovereign, “Their nuclear weapons are rendering the ship inhospitable!”
I coughed up magenta blood accidentally, and I could feel more seeping from under my eyes. Some of the crew was in a similar position, but others were more resistant to radiation than I. The Sok'klar seemed completely at ease as he ran his tentacles across his morphic braille arrays before calmly announcing the ship’s status. “I've regained some control over our probes: ten, twelve, and seventeen are active and fully functional, the rest are either still malfunctioning or permanently inoperable. A rapid rise in localized radiation is also interfering with the detection of graviton displacement; we can't sense photon redirection, thus readings will remain inconclusive.
“Wayfinder, damn you, get me some kind of out here! We're easy prey until we can respond in kind!”
“Negative, something has gone awry with our processing hub, I am attempting to troubleshoot-”
And with that, the Wayfinder’s bulbous head exploded in a cascade of opaque lavender blood, covering the front half of the deck crew like a morbid art piece. Some of the crew screamed and shouted in terror before removing their cranial adaptors and choosing to interact with their displays manually. Others died just as quickly, unable to unplug in time as their brain stems fried or their blood boiled. It was a horrible way to go, having your insides neutralized by your own cybernetics, so I was glad I wasn't connected to the system.
“Cybernetic warfare! All systems are to be considered compromised, switch to manual settings or you'll be killed!”
The lights in the bridge flickered again, and the displays went haywire. The bridge crew, which obviously weren't acquainted with working without being hard-linked into the mainframe, moved at a much slower pace.
“Launch missile pods A through F and set to self-target after five hundred kilometers, then rely on their ballistic coordinates to begin firing broadsides! If we can't see the humans due to their meddling, we'll just have to feel them.” Shouted the Sovereign, “and got me a detailed report on the ship’s diagnostics readings. I need to know if this flagship is still capable of escaping or if we'll have to scuttle it and retreat on another.”
“Acknowledged, Sovereign, launching now,” affirmed another deck officer as he swiped across his own gallium output array. I could hear the dull thunk, thunk, thunk of missiles pushing out of their pods before racing off to their intended targets, then the mechanical whirring as the pods rotated to be reloaded by slaves in the lower decks. I was regaining my bearings as the many horrible sensations of being overwhelmed by radiation poisoning were beginning to subside, but I still felt as if I had been microwaved. The air was stale, the crew was horribly sick as well, and even the sovereign himself seemed to be on his last leg. I was beginning to believe that I might die here.
“Sovereign, a message from the lower decks,” shouted a communications officer, his chitin scraping against itself as he turned quickly, “they're requesting reinforcements, something about being overrun.”
“Impossible,” the Sovereign hissed out in a vain attempt to exude confidence, “We must outnumber the humans, they always go for bigger targets out of arrogance.”
“I've received reports that it's not just humans: the primates seem to make up only a third or so of the assailing force, along with some Phaeldaer and Vrex.”
The commander slammed his clawed hands down on his own output array in a fit of rage, obviously overwhelmed by the circumstances, “Then this wasn't just a typical assault, but something more sinister!” The nautiloid warbled, blood seeping from his shell as the full effects of the radiation took hold, “Get Rel’ads on the line, have him divert all spare lances to the lower decks or else we'll lose the only offensive capabilities we can use.”
“Rel'ads has gone dark, Sovereign, his vitals are critical.”
“Then either get me Rel'ads tail-leader or get me Noddos!” He screamed in rage, “don't give me this nonsense! If we don't pick it up we're all going to die, is that what you want?”
“No, Sovereign, I'm simply overwhelmed-”
“We're all overwhelmed! By the tides, I'm dying of radiation poisoning you nincompoop! Get me something I can work with!”
The officer didn't even acknowledge the Sovereign after that, simply turning back to his display. Eventually, the Sovereign was able to get Noddos on the line.
“Sovereign, two thirds of my phalanxes have been decimated by combat with the primitives and the radiation, the rest are in shambles. We must retreat and fortify elsewhere!”
“Then the ship is compromised! Rel'ads is unresponsive and the lower decks are swarming with intruders. We must evacuate the amanuensis to another ship.”
Just as the Sovereign spoke, I heard several gentle thumps rattle against the bridge’s door, and it made me uneasy. Some of the bridge crew seemed to feel the same, as they looked incredibly nervous and some even drew their sidearms. Just as the sovereign turned to give further orders, the door blew inward with a deafening explosion, followed by shouting and gunfire. Several of the bridge officers were dispatched quickly, brain matter and blood splattering against the delicate electronics. Others were shot in the legs, the torso, or in any other exotic yet non-vital body parts. The humans poured in, brandishing primitive ballistic firearms and jury-rigged energy weapons while wearing scavenged, legion-grade powered armor.
The Sovereign was the next to go, but he wasn't afforded an honorable death. He was shot along the arm with a particularly potent plasma caster, burning off his clawed hand and cauterizing the wound, the acrid smell of roasting chitin filling the already hot and cramped bridge. He fell back against his output array, the gallium reaching new highs and lows as more diagnostics and casualty reports were delivered, and he clutched his stump angrily. “I'll burn every last one of you in the foundries! I'll tie you to stakes, cover you in wax and set you alight! Your screams will be broadcasted all over the galaxy!”
One human warrior stomped up and slammed the butt of his rifle into the sovereign’s face, shattering his facial plates and causing blue blood to splatter across his section of the bridge. “Shut the fuck up, you mutant lobster,” the human said before dragging him by both antennae towards the center of the bridge and receiving a stained breeching axe from one of his comrades. “Emmanuel, start recording. We need proof.”
The other human nodded and pressed a button on his armor before lifting up his gun again. The rest of the humans fanned out, holding everyone else at gunpoint. I tried to get up and sneak out, but a human grabbed me by my neck and nearly wrung it out as he forced me to my knees and pointed a sidearm to my skull. “Get down, you piece of shit, before I blow your brains out too.”
“Damnable primate,” I hissed, but he bashed me in my skull with the base of his sidearm’s grip and sent me sprawling, making my already pounding headache worse. Another human shouted at him in a language I didn't recognize, but he sounded furious. The first brought me back up to my knees again, and I complies with a hiss and a groan, blood still leaking from my eyes and mouth and my world was spinning.
The Sovereign struggled, but he was weak from the radiation poisoning and he couldn't exactly resist on account of his lost arm. The human with the breaching ax kicked the Sovereign down and forced him to kneel before lifting up the breeching ax and splitting his chitinous head down the middle with one powerful swing, sending more blood and brains across the floor. “Execution confirmed, take his antennae just in case and we've got ourselves a bounty. Now all we need is that ugly cat’s teeth and the fat hedgehog-thing’s grimy spines and we'll be in business. Although, they do have skulls… we might as well just take their heads.”
The real horror of the situation dawned on me at that moment: they were going to kill us all, or maybe worse. They mentioned a bounty for the commanders, and multiple of the higher ranking ship officers were already dead, their brains splattered against the walls or their bodies torn apart by gunfire. I wasn't dead yet, but that didn't mean much since I wasn't an immediate threat.
“Alright, round them up and bring all the grunts to the hanger bay, then kill the rest,” the leader of the humans said in such a lackadaisical manner that his complete disregard for life almost made me sick… almost. I had seen worse from the Jurisdiction before, but usually that was from me delivering some kind of ordered judgment on a world that had sinned against order. I might have simply been the messenger, but I had seen many of the outcomes. “And make sure to collect whatever proof of bounties you can, we'll need to deliver them to the office to get cashed out. Don't let this be a repeat of last time where Juarez fucking forgot to take a few heads and it ended up cutting our profits in half, the fucking retard.”
Some of the humans chuckled at that as they dragged more of the senior officers away, out of the room and into the hall, where I heard gunshots. The rest of the bridge crew froze in place, different fear instincts kicking in. The remaining Sok'klar corralled together into what seemed to be a singular, semi-congealed mass as if to try and trick the humans into believing that they were much bigger and much more threatening than they actually were. The one Thei’chi on the bridge, an ensign who had clearly thought this would be a simple mission, bore her curved fangs at the humans and growled as they approached, her hackles completely vertical and her eyes dilated. They quickly muzzled and bound her before beating her over the head with a gun stock, sending her sprawling onto the ground. Many others simply cooperated, eyes wide and yet simultaneously empty, as if they couldn't quite process that the ship had been taken and the commanding officers were being executed as the rest were escorted to the hangar.
“Get the damn messenger down to the hanger as well, we need whatever data's in his ugly lizard head, then we can decide on what to do with him.”
I spat at him in spite, as if to try and seem brave, but it was clearly an empty gesture. “You won't get anything, primate! You couldn't possibly crack the encryption!”
The human holding me seemed to wind up for another swing, but the commanding officer simply held up his hand to stop my tormentor before strolling over to me. He knelt down and removed his helmet, revealing a beige-colored face covered in scars, wiry black hair cut down to the scalp, and multiple tattoos. “You're really fucking mouthy for a hostage,” he said before punching me across my beak faster than I could register. I heard a sharp crack as his fist connected, and my head spun again as the metallic taste of blood pooled into my mouth. “I'd advise you to shut up, but I'm sure you won't listen: you aristocratic types are so full of yourselves. Maybe I should have you flogged in the public square until your vocal chords give out once we rip those cybernetics from your head, huh? How's that sound?”
“It won't matter… it won't change anything… the Jurisdiction will hunt you down.”
“Maybe, but I doubt it will happen for some time: they really suck at doing anything that requires effort, even when they're mad enough. They just keep sending their rabid lapdogs to try and smoke us out, and they always end up full of holes,” the human officer said with a smirk, his yellowish-white teeth and green eyes sending shivers down my spine as he drew his knife. “They're just horrible at their job, you know? You've all gotten so lazy and incompetent after being able to just take what you want without resistance, and now that you've met people who are angry and crazy enough to fight back you act as if we're committing some grave injustice,” he placed the knife against my throat, the flat just underneath my now bent beak, “No, we just took a few pages out of your book, ‘cept we've got standards. No kids, for one…” he seemed to look off into the distance as his sneer deepened, “but it's more than that, we don't attack the defenseless in general and we still win against you all in fair fights.”
I went to say something else snarky, but he quickly grabbed my thin tongue with his fingers and yanked it out, blood from my mouth pulling to the floor as he held the blade of his knife against it. “No no, none of that. Say one more thing and I'll cut that rancid little tongue of yours out of your mouth and feed it to you,” he hissed at me, pressing the blade down just hard enough to draw blood. “Do you know what it's like to see a planet turn into a tomb?" he asked me, gritting his teeth, “Do you know what it's like to see everything you've ever known crumble to ash and glass, all the life and the green stripped away leaving nothing but bones? I do. I've seen it happen to countless worlds, and my grandfather always told me stories of how you bastards did it to Earth. He still prays in its direction five times a day, to Mecca, but he knows the Kaaba is gone now, or maybe it's still there, buried in the bones of those who sought refuge there.”
I didn't care for the human’s nonsensical beliefs, but I did care to correct him. “I've seen it before, and I'll see it again. And so will you, it's inevitable. The Jurisdiction will always have its judgment fulfilled, there is no alternative.”
“One day, I hope we can rectify that,” he said, then he sheathed his knife and slammed my head against the metal floor with enough force to nearly knock me out. As I lost consciousness, I could hear him speak. “Take him to the Chop Doc, and make sure the cybernetics don't get damaged: they're supposedly more valuable than any bounty on this ship.”
Warning: Severe radiation poisoning detected. Flush system immediately.
Warning: Neural Lace removal detected, chance of neurological damage high. Proceeded with caution.

2024.05.19 01:14 AltruisticGap Can you UNDERclock the NVIDIA GPUs and control the fan curve if gaming in Windows?

On my desktop PC I use MSI Afterburner to set "Power" down to 80% or even lower and set a custom fan curve. The NVIDIA card does not run as hot and I'm able to keep the fans lower and quieter. I don't play very demanding games (eg. Rogue Legacy 2, or older oldschool MMO's) so I may as well.
Can I do this on the laptops such as the InfinityBook Series with the RTX's ?

2024.05.19 00:59 nojustnobro My Notes on Howler's Water Supplies.

In reference to this post.
In Hawaii, despite the islands being surrounded by water, there has been a long-standing issue regarding fresh water supplies. Many times there has been news about businesses exploiting and overusing resources for profit and, as a result, making fresh water less accessible to people overall. I can point to this as a rather recent controversy as an example.
Howler having property that involve water supplies is interesting to consider, especially when the first property we are introduced to is a land famously known for not having any water on it: Mount Hualalai. While this could be a phenomenon in of itself, I think there is an explanation for this.
Hawaii's fresh water comes from these permeable rocks known as aquifers. Aquifers vary in different types but they serve to store water that can be retrieved in some way. Groundwater enters an aquifer as precipitation seeps through the soil and the water can be resurfaced through springs or wells. Aquifers made from volcanic rock are considered to be some of the best due to its productivity and are only found in Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to shady business practices, climate change is also compromising Hawaii's fresh water supplies and aquifers. Since 2008, Hawaii has been suffering through a drought, and aquifers rely on rainwater to replenish its supplies; unfortunately, demand is much more than supply. Rising sea levels mean salt water is also getting into the aquifers due to how many of them sit on top of salt water and barriers that help prevent them from mixing can be destroyed by things like earth quakes or construction. To try separating the two or perform any procedure that would take things like salt out of the water is already extensive and hurts more than it helps. There are efforts proposed to stop and prevent this though, but the issue remains.
Given what we know now, it's possible that Howler knows where the water supplies are and which ones are hidden; this would explain how Mount Hualalai appeared to have water upon Mauka's disappearance. Perhaps, Howler's experimenting with the aquifers in a way that, to the ordinary non-Stand user, could be seen as merely "illegal activities". They could be trying to find ways to make more water, add something to it for another ulterior motive (enhance stand abilities? alter bodies and minds?), or control the flow of water as a means of extending the drought. Going back to my notes on Howler and how it could have started out as a business with good intentions, it could be possible that Howler started out as "the good guys" trying to help Hawaii but something led to them now focusing more on profit.
Let me know your thoughts.

2024.05.19 00:41 funlol3 Car insurance rates surge again, keeping inflation elevated - Fox Business

Fox Business has an interesting article today on the issue plaguing us all - car insurance rate increases.
Consumer prices rose by 0.3% in April, and while many factors like rent and groceries contributed to this, auto insurance saw one of the most significant increases. Auto insurance premiums jumped by 1.8% in April alone, leading to a total annual increase of 22.6%—the fastest yearly rate ever recorded.
Compared to the beginning of 2021, motor vehicle insurance is now over 50% more expensive. The average rate for full auto insurance surged to $2,019 in 2023, a 24% increase from 2022, and a nearly 29% increase from the previous year. Even basic state-required policies climbed to $1,154 per year.
Several factors have driven this spike:
  1. Rising Vehicle Costs: New and used car prices soared after the COVID-19 pandemic due to supply chain disruptions and high demand, making vehicles more expensive to replace and repair.
  2. Repair Costs: The cost of vehicle parts and repairs has increased significantly, compounded by a shortage of mechanics. The number of automotive technicians is projected to continue decreasing in the coming years.
  3. Insurance Losses: Car insurance companies are trying to recover from steep losses incurred in 2021, a year marked by a sharp rise in fatal car accidents.
Experts suggest that the problem could get worse before it gets better. As auto insurance costs continue to rise, it's crucial for buyers to run the numbers on insurance rates before purchasing a car to avoid any surprises.
This increase in premiums adds to the already severe financial pressures on U.S. households, especially those with lower incomes. If you have any tips on finding more affordable insurance or want to share your experiences, let's discuss in the comments!

2024.05.19 00:15 AlphaSparqy Crude Olumite to Firmalite Bar ratios for Drones vs Robots

Based on the premise that ore veins can be fracked and never run out, Olumite is the only resource that one must explored for, to find new sources, in perpetuity. One can use solar power and batteries, and ultimately derive an unlimited amount of resources from the ore veins, when supplied with the Fracking Liquid (which also required Olumite).
Now, Firmalite bars are also unlimited and require no exploration. To obtain Firmalite you can get 5 bars per Maintenance Drone, or 40 bars net for each Service Robot. There are of course other differences between the 2 options, like electric demands and real estate footprint, but they are all moot given the above premise, and that real estate is unlimited too.
Give the above situation, I found it useful to work out, just how much Crude Olumite it would take to get a Firmalite Bar, while ignoring every other factor.
I'll copy/paste the details below, but the results:
While producing Maintenance Drones, each Firmalite Bar requires 5.5 Crude Olumite.
While producing unpainted Service Robots, each Firmalite Bar requires 5.8125 Crude Olumite.
If they require painting robots, then each bar requires 8.4513889 Crude Olumite
************** Work **************
Recipes, with olumite derived products listed.
100 Crude Olumite = 75 Liquid Polymer
5 Liquid Polymer = 1 Polymer Board
1 Polymer Board = 1 Circuit Board
2 Polymer Board = 2 Robot Parts
100 Crude Olumite = 90 Olumite Gas
75 Olumite Gas = 40 Olumic Acid
60 Olumic Acid = 6 Energy Cells
2 Polymer Board + 80 Olumic Acid = 8 CPU
100 Crude Olumite = 100 Low Density Olumite
30 Low Density Olumite = 1 Hydraulic Piston
Maintenance Drone breakdown and algebra.
*** 1 Maintenance Drone = 5 Firmalite Bars
1 Circuit Board + 1 Energy Cell = 1 Maintenance Drone
1 Polymer Board + 10 Olumic Acid = 5 Firmalite Bars
5 Liquid Polymer + 18.75 Olumite Gas = 5 Firmalite Bars
6.667 Crude Olumite + 20.8333 Crude Olumite = 5 Firmalite Bars
27.5 Crude Olumite = 5 Firmalite Bars
1 Firmalite Bar = 5.5 Crude Olumite
1 Maintenance Drone is 5.5 Crude Olumite per Firmalite Bar.
*****
Service Robot breakdown and algebra.
1 Robot Parts + 1 Circuit Board + 1 Energy Cell = 1 Robot Torso
1 Robot Parts + 2 CPU = 1 Robot Head
1 Robot Parts + 1 Hydraulic Piston = 1 Robot Arm
1 Robot Parts + 1 Hydraulic Piston = 1 Robot Leg
*** 1 Service Robot = Net 40 Firmalite Bars (200-160)
1 Robot Torso + 1 Robot Head + 2 Robot Arms + 2 Robot Legs = 40 Firmalite Bars
(1 Robot Parts + 1 Circuit Board + 1 Energy Cell) + (1 Robot Parts + 2 CPU) + (2 Robot Parts + 2 Hydraulic Pistons) + (2 Robot Parts + 2 Hydraulic Pistons) = 40 Firmalite Bars
6 Robot Parts + 1 Circuit Board + 1 Energy Cell + 2 CPU + 4 Hydraulic Pistons = 40 Firmalite Bars
6 Polymer Board + 1 Polymer Board + 10 Olumic Acid + (0.5 Polymer Board + 20 Olumic Acid) + 120 Low Density Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
7.5 Polymer Board + 30 Olumic ACid + 120 Low Density Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
37.5 Liquid Polymer + 56.25 Olumite Gas + 120 Crude Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
50 Crude Olumite + 62.5 Crude Olumite + 120 Crude Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
232.5 Crude Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
1 Firmalite Bar = 5.8125 Crude Olumite
1 Service Robot without Paint is 5.8125 Crude Olumite per Firmalite Bar
**\*
100 Paint = 50 Low Density Olumite + 50 Olumite Gas = 40 Firmalite Bars (added to the above costs)
100 Paint = 50 Crude Olumite + 55.556 Crude Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
100 Paint = 105.556 Crude Olumite = 40 Firmalite Bars
1 Firmatelite Bar = 2.5 Paint = 2.638888889 Crue Olumite additional for paint.
So 1 Service Robot with Paint is 8.451388889 Crude Olumite per Firmalite Bar if they end up requiring paint.

2024.05.18 23:39 cararecara18 Any advice post NG tube?

My son had his NG tube removed. He is about two and a half months old, and had the tube for about, well, two months post surgery. By the time the doctors advised us to work his feeds up 100 milliliters (about 3.3 oz) every three hours. Which he was taking very well, little to no upset tummy.
I HOPED that after removing the tub, he would be able to take a similar amount direct breastfeeding. Unfortunately he is taking may be a few mills at a time. Latches for less than 10 minutes and either falls asleep or is just done. Then he wants more about 10 minutes later.
If he has been a snacker like this from the beginning, I suppose I would have figured it out, or at the very least, my supply would have grown with his intermittent demand. But I have been pumping for over two months so his inconsistent feeding is not only hurting my boobs, it's making it difficult to consistently latch (cause I'll try latching, he'll finish without emptying my boob, then I will pump so I'm not in pain/avoid blocked ducts, then he'll be ready for more right after I'm done pumping, and then I need to give it by bottle).
Also, he seems to take anywhere from 40-60 mils by bottle. So he clearly likes my breast milk.
So what gives?
Is he just not hungry enough between feeds so he barely latches at the breast? Should I get a slower flow bottle nipple so it's "more like" my boob and he'll prefer mine more?
Bottom line- how do I get my son to feed more from my boobs/empty them following his NG tube being removed?

2024.05.18 23:39 Which-Connection-588 Does this build look okay for a budget gaming PC?

Looking to build my first PC with the help of a friend who has built a lot of PCs over the years. I don't play any high demand games right now (just Valorant recently) but I want to be future-proof enough so that I can play any new games that might come out in the next 5-10 years with decent performance. I currently have a GeForce RTX 2060 Super and a i5-6500, and want to make sure that my new build is a significant upgrade over my current setup. My budget for this is around the $1400 range.

That suggests there is more supply than demand for a given product. Western marketplaces are bursting with work options and ways to make money. Today’s young people must act smart and move quick to locate new employment opportunities.

Suppose one wants to be successful in this field, they should focus on expanding markets, developing innovative technology, and uncovering undiscovered company prospects in highly profitable niche industries, among other things (Agarwal et al, 6). Businesses in crowded markets may cut the price of their products to gain a larger market share. As a result, businesses are always undercutting each other to attract new customers. Cost-cutting is a common strategy for firms when profits are stagnant (Simonazzi et al., 17). Unnecessary or avoidable cost savings are welcome, but they don’t address the underlying issue.

According to the recent reports, westerners already pay too many taxes in a number of business entities. Due to the high cost of living in their new home nation, one out of every five American ex-pats is contemplating renunciation of their citizenship. Senators are concerned about how to pay for the deficit, and Senate rules prohibit raising long-term deficits through reconciliation bills. Consequently, more money will be available to Congress if the budget reconciliation plan generates more revenue. The United States will not make significant investments unless Congress makes significant adjustments to the tax structure (Michel et al., 89). Increased budget deficits could slow the long-term growth of the economy. In addition private investment or borrowing from other countries is used to pay for government borrowing when the economy is close to capacity (Chen et al.440). When a person is experiencing difficulties, it might harm their future well-being. To put it another way, the long-term impacts of tax policy are influenced by its incentives and its budgetary implications.
Digital nomads have historically been seen as a threat in some places, but several countries around the world are now actively seeking to attract this growing digital population through new remote work visas.
All this converges into a superstorm, and more and more people will opt for digital nomad opportunities. While tax regulations can vary significantly depending on where you are in the world, general guidelines may be helpful to for those seeking information on paying taxes as a digital nomad. Naturally, tax filing is done with the country of tax residence as determined by the place of a principal residence. Digital nomads, however, may encounter a variety of additional layers of tax residence due to their physical presence in other countries during a tax year. In addition, state/province/territory and local taxes may also apply.

Cancel culture and family safety issues

The cancellation culture has a lot to do with social media and if it hadn’t been for social media, pop culture would not have gotten the attention it has in the previous decade. In most case the cultures are frequently canceled by unfollowing, blocking, and publicly criticizing an organization or individual on social media. Due to their large social media followings, celebrity cancellations often garner much media attention. As a result of using social media to communicate with celebrities, many teenagers desire to emulate their peers. Most adolescent cancel culture is carried out online, primarily via comments and unfollows (Yar et al., 80). This can happen in the real world, such as at school or in extracurricular activities. They are often rejected, mocked, and disregarded by their peers, who have had their activities canceled. Most Western workers are experiencing job instability due to the growth of a “cancel culture” in the workplace (Dąbrowska-Kłosińska, 30). This can be a terrific method for teenagers to learn and grow, as their peers may call them out for using insulting words or acting inappropriately.

Investment analysis and forecasting as part of the individual development strategy

To produce an accurate financial projection, one must consider both general macroeconomic trends and your organization’s specific circumstances. Predicting how much money a company will generate and spend in the future is known as financial forecasting. A full estimate contains both short-term and long-term revenue estimates and costs that aren’t anticipated at the time of the estimate (Poorter et al.120). People who know how to create models are critical to financial forecasting firms that do a good job. Some people have extensive knowledge of the organization, its sectors, and the communities it serves to support them along the way. Similarly, data collection and analysis are critical to the financial forecasting process and the use of the software.

Scenario planning and personal life choices

Global events like COVID 19, inflation, or food crisis can impact our life choices a lot. To avoid reacting to events, we need to think about what might happen in the future. Scenario planning helps us do this. Scenario planning allows business leaders to consider what might happen, reflect on past actions, and devise strategies for positive and poor outcomes. Scenario planning is more than just a means to think about the future when it comes to financial planning. It can assist one in determining how much money you’ll make, how much money you’ll have, and how to manage hazards. Early warning indications of difficulties can be spotted by leaders who make their organizations aware of potential issues (MacKenzie et al.900). One can use scenario planning papers to quickly run through numerous scenarios and figure out the best course of action in the event of a crisis. Making a strategy in the event of an emergency is essential. Having a strategy in place is critical in the event of a product going viral and seeing a threefold increase in demand in a single day.

Building the right skills for the jobs of the future

To be eligible for future employment, one must possess the abilities that will be most in demand. Coding has taken off swiftly as one of the most sought-after skills. Almost any industry can benefit from the versatility and scalability of computer languages. People believe that coding is so prevalent in the workplace that it will soon become an essential skill for everyone. Learning to code is a difficult task. Learning how to code and the language you choose impacts how long it takes to do so (Moldoveanu et al.40). Before you begin learning how to code, look at several computer languages and determine which ones are relevant to your industry. Many people begin by studying HTML or JavaScript when learning a new language. After you’ve mastered the fundamentals, you can move to more popular and widely used languages like Python. It is possible to store and manage corporate data in the cloud while allowing employees to work from home.

Riding on global trends of tomorrow

By adopting an agile culture, knowing how to cope with ambiguity, pushing outside our comfort zones, and quickly adjusting to new trends, among other things, we achieve success. We all agree that the weather has gotten more erratic in the last few decades. Crop failure, sea-level rise, and water scarcity are exacerbated by global warming. Malaria and dengue fever epidemics are also on the rise due to the influx of people from developing countries. According to the Kyoto Protocol, 175 countries have agreed to begin the long process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by signing it (Penalva et al., 340). According to business leaders worldwide, firms have a larger role in society and should do more than merely follow the law to reduce pollution. According to a McKinsey survey, this is the case. The “triple bottom line” refers to a company’s efforts to benefit its shareholders and its workers and the environment. Increasing numbers of businesses are waking up to the need to lower their carbon footprints, produce ecologically friendly products, and operate their operations for more than just quarterly profits.

What if a national conservative and economically populist Greek businessmen existed and became Prime Minister in 2012, only to compromise on his more radical proposals?
On 7 September 2005, businessman and owner of the AEK Athens football club Ioannis Konstantinos announced he was leaving New Democracy and creating the Party of the Greek Nation (Κόμμα Ελληνικού Έθνους).
The new right-wing party also had the involvement of dissenters from LAOS and Golden Dawn, and several military officers. Konstantinos was announced to be the party's chairman, with Kyriakos Veuopoulos and Vasilis Stigkas also being founding members. On 11 February 2006, the KEE was officially registered with the Ministry of the Interior, allowing it to participate in that year's local elections.
The KEE fielded 42 candidates during the election, including in Athens and other PASOK strongholds like Crete and Thrace, but the majority of them ran in rural districts. Konstantinos self-funded the KEE's campaign efforts, and refused donations; the party elected two councillors, both of whom were in conservative small towns, and only won 0.34% of the vote in Athens, the majority of which is speculated to have come from AEK fans.
Throughout the rest of 2006, the KEE tried to capitalize on right-wing discontent with the European Union, and especially Turkey's proposed entry in the EU. It also fought against multiculturalism and immigration, and demanded that Germany pay Greece war reparations. The KEE manifesto (released to the public on 15 February 2006) did not make any mention of economics, which were not a winning issue for them before 2008, but in power, the party has pursued Keynesianism and economic nationalism.
On 10 January 2007, Konstantinos stepped down as AEK's official chairman, allowing him to focus on politics. During the legislative election, the KEE fielded 98 candidates for the Greek Parliament, and again refused to receive public funding,
its wealthy leader funding the campaign instead. Party campaigning focused on anti-immigration and eurosceptic views, supporting the restoration of drachma as a step towards Grexit, a points-based immigration system and border fence with Turkey, and a limit on how many refugees Greece could receive a year.
KEE eventually won 70,655 votes, 0.99% of the nationwide vote. Much of it came from rural districts that heavily supported ND, with football aficionados playing a lesser role, although many of them understood Konstantinos remained the power behind the throne. This low percentage of the vote (two percentage points below the electoral threshold) had an effect in the election, as ND fell two seats short of a parliamentary majority, forcing a confidence and supply agreement with the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) to be formed.
During his second term, Kostas Karamanlis was forced to take a harder line on immigration and social issues in order to please his coalition partners, moving closer to the right wing of the ND, subsequently leading to the Party of Growth being formed as a centre-right schism from the ruling party. The 2008–09 financial crisis subsequently led to a vote of no confidence on his unpopular government, and PASOK won a landslide at the 2009 legislative election. Karamanlis also announced his opposition to Turkey's membership in the EU, and threatened to take the Macedonia naming dispute to the International Court of Justice, leading to international embarrassment.
The ND-LAOS coalition government followed a more conservative policy than previous administrations, opposing Turkish membership in the EU and threatening to sue Macedonia over its name.
The privatisation and deregulation policies of Kostas Karamanlis' first term were continued, as was European integration, generating tensions with ND's coalition partner while members of the ND establishment broke from the party to form the Party of Growth (KA). The KA's 2009 campaign was substantially hyped, but it won 168,953 votes and 2.46% of the vote, meaning it did not win any seats.
After his vote of no confidence pushed by the PASOK and dissatisfied ND politicians who opposed his inconsistent line and handling of the financial crisis, Karamanlis was replaced as its leader by Dora Bakoyannis, Foreign Minister of Greece, and formerly the first female major of Athens who hosted the 2004 Olympics. With two popular far-right parties, a broken economy and recently impeached head of government, voters agreed the ND was doomed from the start, and it had a historically poor result.
After the global economic crisis began in September 2008, KEE ran on economic interventionism, returning to the drachma, and protectionist trade policies, occasionally bringing up restrictions on immigration and law and order. Konstantinos continued to self-fund his party's campaign efforts, and often emphasized how his movement did not receive any government money, unlike the majority of competitors. On 28 May 2009, he and Georgios Karatzaferis agreed to a nonaggression pact between KEE and LAOS.
The 2009 general election produced a hung parliament for the second consecutive time, and again, one of the two major parties had to form a coalition government with a smaller, anti-estabilishment movement. George Papandreou, on the other hand, only agreed to govern as a 1970s social democrat and resist any further neoliberal measures.
KKE had a strong performance, getting double digits of the popular vote and 36 seats, while kingmaker Syriza and LAOS remained static. Over the next three years, Greece's economy continued to worsen, allowing KEE to form a majority government after the 2012 elections. Democratic backsliding and efforts to control government institutions have led to it governing Greece as of May 2024.
The PASOK-SYRIZA administration attempted to return to social democracy, but a crushing debt crisis made itself the main issue facing the country, and the left-wing coalition's policies failed to fix it.
As such, in 2011, the left-wing coalition government was replaced by a grand coalition of the ND and PASOK, which obtained a far greater margin in Parliament. Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras felt betrayed and broke with the PASOK, challenging it from its left and attempting to attract the working class and students.
In the meantime, the KEE, which proposed a Greek withdrawal from the Eurozone, protectionist economic policies and restrictions on immigration, continued to grow in support, attracting socially conservative workers who blamed immigrants and other minorities for the recession. In the 2010 local elections, it was the third most voted party nationwide and fourth in Athens, winning three city council seats in the capital, and actively used the internet for campaigning, the same strategy Konstantinos had used as a football chairman. By late 2011, it was polling second in general election surveys, behind Syriza, which was not blamed for the economic situation by voters due to having 15 seats.
Some pundits feared scheduling a new legislative election would hand over seats to the KEE, and those fears proved prescient, as it went from the second smallest to the largest party in Parliament, although 80 seats below a majority. The three days after the election were marked by pessimism, and the Athens stock market dropped noticeably.
On 7 May, Ioannis Konstantinos called Antonis Samaras, and offered to compromise on the Euro by supporting a referendum on the national currency instead. Polling showed the electorate to be split on whether or not to readopt the drachma, although the majority of them went on to vote for it, restoring Greece's sovereign currency. Later that day, he contacted Panos Kammenos, who was unaware of the compromise, and asked for him to support a right-wing coalition government; the ANEL leader accepted, and the governing majority was formed two days later – having a bare majority of 151 seats, and forcing Konstantinos to govern in a more moderate manner than expected.
The KKE lost eight seats to the Syriza, effectively realigning Greek politics between a national conservative and a democratic socialist parties. They have finished first or second in every Greek legislative election since, with SYRIZA having won the lastest due to the KEE administration getting unpopular.
The right-wing coalition went on to increase their seats the following year, as it did not take any further loans and instead focused paying down Greece's debt, implemented a balanced budget amendment, and closed corporate tax loopholes in order to stop tax evasion.
