🔗Durable DSLR Camera Case with Neoprene Exterior

https://preview.redd.it/9v8bn3yvbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b619155fa4cd2f0e9fc7779991a2b97dc3a396cc
I recently purchased the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me. I love the vibrant southwest pattern that not only looks great but also doesn't give away the fact that there's an expensive camera inside my bag. The dimensions are perfect at 7.25 inches x 6 inches x 5.5 inches, making it a great option when I'm on the go.
One of the standout features of this case is its durable neoprene exterior. It's rugged and weather-resistant, ensuring my camera stays safe and secure no matter the conditions. The cover zippers and metal hardware provide extra protection, while the reinforced belt loop offers stability and flexibility in how I carry it.
The adjustable shoulder strap and padded hand strap make it comfortable and easy to use, whether I'm carrying it on my shoulder or hand. However, I find that the bag can feel a bit weighty when I'm carrying a DSLR with a lens attached, making it better suited for shorter outings.
The USA Gear QTL Camera Case Bag has exceeded my expectations in terms of visual appeal, sturdiness, design comfort, size, and weight. The southwest pattern adds a touch of style, while the reinforced metal buckles ensure durability and longevity. The scratch-resistant interior and padded dividers provide extra protection for my camera and lenses. Overall, this case is a perfect blend of style and functionality.
While I appreciate the beautiful design and comfortable carrying options, I wish the interior had a bit more space to accommodate additional camera accessories. Additionally, the rain cover can be challenging to use at first, but once you're familiar with it, it gets easier. Despite these minor drawbacks, I believe the USA Gear QTL Portable DSLR Camera Case Bag, Southwest is a fantastic option for photographers looking for a stylish and durable camera case.

🔗Acuvar Padded Backpack for DSLR Cameras

https://preview.redd.it/ju2do2ewbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=767d918756f94af7758890f50394f8ac8c25ea4f
I can confidently say that the Acuvar BPACK03 Padded Backpack is my go-to camera bag. Its sleek design and sturdy construction make it a reliable companion for all my photography adventures. The inside pocket with a hook and loop system, along with the 7 customizable padding dividers, ensures that my camera equipment stays snug and secure.
I particularly love the padded shoulder straps as they provide immense comfort even when the bag is fully loaded. The side pockets are incredibly useful, with one being a net pocket and the other having a zipper. The webbed side pocket is perfect for my water bottle, while the hook and loop strap above it can easily hold a small tripod.
However, the highlight of this bag is undoubtedly its capacity. It comfortably fits all my camera gear without making the bag bulky or unwieldy. The size is just right, making it easy to carry around on long photo shoots. And did I mention how visually appealing it is? Its simple yet stylish design truly stands out.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the Acuvar BPACK03 Padded Backpack. It's well made, has ample pocket utility, and boasts excellent sturdiness. Highly recommended!

As a photographer, I've always struggled with finding the right case to protect my gear while I'm out in the field. That was until I came across the USA Gear DSLR Quick Access case. The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design, made from lightweight yet robust EVA hardshell with a padded interior.
One of the features that have been a real game-changer for me is the three carrying modes - belt loop, strap, and handle. This has greatly enhanced my shooting experience, whether I'm walking around town or out in the wilderness. The zipper and hook & loop closure provide easy access to my camera without compromising on safety. The added feature of built-in memory card pocket ensures that I never miss a shot while fumbling through different compartments.
However, one small issue is that it doesn't have a dedicated slot for attaching my camera strap, which requires a bit of improvisation. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall performance of this case has been stellar. Its versatility, durability, and ease of use make it a must-have accessory in my photography kit.

🔗MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case for Canon EOS Rebel T7 & 2000D + 18-55mm

https://preview.redd.it/bdummp3xbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25976eedde6610fe87b3b5eeb8bf13e540bb1150
As an avid photographer, I've recently been using the MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case with a Strap for my Canon EOS Rebel T7. It's not only stylish in black but it also provides excellent protection against dirt, scratches, and bumps. The two-piece design, consisting of a top and a bottom, is brilliant as it offers flexibility – you can use the bottom half independently as a half case and attach it to the built-in tripod mounting screw. This screw also allows for easy tripod usage without having to remove the case, which is a major convenience.
The top piece seamlessly completes the all-around protection, attaching with snaps. I also appreciated the bottom opening feature, which grants easy access to the battery compartment. Another highlight is the stitching that adds a touch of class reminiscent of old-world craftsmanship.
However, it's not entirely perfect. The case, while well-padded, doesn't provide much room for additional accessories beyond the camera and lens. Also, it could benefit from a rain cover for those times when you get caught in unexpected showers.
Overall, the MegaGear Ever Ready PU Leather Case is a well-made, stylish, and functional case for my Canon EOS Rebel T7. It's worth every penny for the added protection and convenience it provides.

🔗K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack

I recently purchased the K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. As an avid traveler and photography enthusiast, I needed a reliable and secure way to transport my camera gear, and this backpack has exceeded my expectations.
The first thing that stood out to me was the two separate compartments, which allowed me to organize my belongings with ease. The upper compartment is perfect for storing personal items like my wallet, phone, and even a change of clothes, while the lower compartment is specifically designed to house my camera, lenses, and other accessories.
One of my favorite features is the quick-access side opening, which enables me to grab my camera and accessories without having to take the entire backpack off. This has been incredibly helpful when trying to capture that perfect shot in a hurry.
Another aspect that I appreciate is the theft-proof design, as the main compartment's opening is located at the back of the backpack. This provides me with peace of mind, knowing that my valuable camera equipment is securely protected.
The backpack also features a padded, upper compartment that can accommodate a 15.6-inch laptop, making it incredibly versatile for both travel and daily use. Additionally, there is a special side compartment with a strap and buckle designed to safely transport a tripod, further adding to the convenience and functionality of this backpack.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the K&F Concept Waterproof Camera Backpack. Its blend of practicality, organization, and security make it an indispensable addition to my photography gear, and I highly recommend it to other photographers and travelers alike.

🔗Leather Canon EOS 77D Camera Case with Battery Access

https://preview.redd.it/ryakprwxbb1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffb96a79537ae7359fcfc826a83fe1c3d16f546a
I've been using the MegaGear Ever Ready Leather Case and Strap with my Canon EOS Rebel T7i for a few weeks now, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The high-quality PU leather not only looks incredibly stylish but also provides top-notch protection against scratches and bumps. Plus, the internal fabric is soft and padded, protecting my camera from dust, damage, and shock.
One of my favorite features is the easy-to-clean and maintain design. It's so simple to wipe down and keep in pristine condition, even after a long day of shooting. And speaking of shooting, the Ever Ready Design allows me to install a tripod and access the battery compartment in seconds - no fumbling around with straps or belts.
The only downside I've encountered is that the case is a bit bulky, which might be slightly inconvenient for those who prefer a more minimalistic approach to camera gear. But overall, the MegaGear Ever Ready Leather Case offers excellent protection and convenience for my Canon Rebel T7i, making it a worthwhile investment.

🔗High-Quality Canon Pg-243bk/CL-244 Inkjet Cartridges for Select Printers

https://preview.redd.it/pd51zoplab1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f45239b61d6402d26eccbd6f24d8ae0d169af76c
The Canon Pg-243 Color Inkjet Print Cartridge caught my attention with its versatile and long-lasting performance. I was in need of a reliable ink cartridge for my Canon printer, and this one seemed like the perfect fit. The high-quality ink produced vibrant, sharp prints for all my documents, whether it was just plain text or a vivid colored photo.
One major highlight for me was the compatibility with the printer—it replaced my previous PG-245 and CL-246 cartridges seamlessly. I appreciated that I could easily find and replace the ink when it ran low. The cartridge worked consistently, eliminating issues I've faced with other ink cartridges, like smudging or streaking.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks with the Canon Pg-243 Color Inkjet Print Cartridge. While the ink was long-lasting, it might not be the most cost-effective option for heavy-duty use. Additionally, the size of the cartridges can be bulky, which may not be ideal for travel or storage considerations.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for me when it comes to this ink cartridge. The print quality is top-notch, and it's super easy to replace when the ink runs low. While it may not be perfect for those who need a lot of ink for their projects, it's a great option for anyone looking for high-quality, reliable ink for their Canon printer.

🔗Save on Canon PG-243 Standard-Yield Black Ink Cartridge

https://preview.redd.it/wbt2gs1mab1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f2e6d4a841f12ef5d4559dd56b7cc07aee1eba2
I've been using the Canon PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge for a while now and let me tell you about my experience. This ink cartridge is compatible with Canon PIXMA printers, and I must say, it offers smudge-resistant text and sharp ink quality. What really stood out for me is the FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology, which adds detail and quality to my prints.
One thing that I've found is that the ink cartridge consumes a bit more ink than I originally anticipated. However, the cost savings compared to the standard-yield capacity in other ink cartridges is quite appealing. The only downside I've encountered is the need to purchase additional ink cartridges, as one is not enough for heavy print jobs. Overall, the Canon PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge is a reliable and efficient option for Canon printer users.

🔗Pigment & Dye Ink Multi-Pack for Quality B&C Prints

https://preview.redd.it/0gyhczemab1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88450b86542237ea83bfae8179f53e1f6c49417e
I recently tried out the Canon PG-243/CL-244 Ink Cartridge combo pack for my printer. It promises long-lasting dark blacks and beautiful colors, and it did not disappoint. The ink quality was exceptional, with vibrant colors and sharp, bold lines.
The paper included in the pack, 50 sheets of glossy 4"x6" photo paper, produced stunning printouts with a crisp and glossy finish, great for presentations or printing photos. However, one downside was that the ink ran out relatively quickly, especially the color one. All in all, this ink cartridge combo pack delivers high-quality results, but be prepared to refill it more frequently than you might expect.

🔗Canon Printer Ink Compatible with PG-243/CL-244

https://preview.redd.it/nvjjbrvmab1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=760f2b1f64ab3c1232bf81af59c81bd4187583ad
In the past few weeks, I've been using the PG-243/CL-244 ink cartridge set for my Canon printer. I have to say, these inks have been working like a charm for my home office. They've produced clear, vibrant prints, both for text and images. The black ink is fantastic, providing sharp text that makes reading documents a breeze. The color ink is equally impressive, with accurate hues and vivid images.
Despite the great performance, I've noticed that the ink cartridges run out a bit too quickly for my usage. I typically print only a handful of documents and photos a week, but it still feels like I need to replace the cartridges more frequently than I'd like. I've heard from other users that the ink seems to get used up way too fast, especially the black one.
On the plus side, the installation process is quite simple, and the inks perform consistently, without any smudging or streaking. Having all three essential colors in one pack also makes it convenient for quick replacements when needed.
Overall, I'm happy with the quality of the inks for my Canon printer, but the low ink quantity is a little disappointing. I'll have to keep a closer eye on my ink consumption and consider alternatives if I need longer-lasting cartridges.

🔗Canon PG-243 Premium Black Ink Cartridge with FINE Technology - Long Lasting Printing

I recently tried out the Canon 2 Pack PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge for PIXMA Printers and I must say, it was quite an experience. The first thing that caught my attention was the exceptional print quality. The dark blacks were remarkably sharp and vibrant, making my documents look professional.
The highlight for me was the impressive durability of these cartridges. Even after printing numerous pages, they still held up well without any issues. The pigment-based ink formulation ensured that the colors stayed vibrant for longer, preventing smudging or streaking.
One downside I encountered was the limited compatibility of these cartridges. They were only fully compatible with the PG-245 and PG-245 XL black ink cartridges, which could be inconvenient for some users.
Moreover, these cartridges granted access to premium content via Creative Park Premium. This was a great perk for those who enjoy creative projects.
Lastly, the FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) Technology ensured precise ink droplets, resulting in fine detail and smooth texture in all my prints.
Overall, while there are some drawbacks to consider, the Canon 2 Pack PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge for PIXMA Printers has proved itself to be a reliable and efficient choice for those seeking high-quality print results.

🔗Professional-grade Pigment Black Ink Cartridge for Canon PIXMA Printers

Experience the high-quality print performance of the Canon PG-243 Pigment Black Ink Cartridge. Its FINE technology guarantees sharp, smudge-resistant text and vibrant colors, perfect for professional-quality documents and photos.
The cartridge is compatible with Canon PIXMA printers that utilize PG-245 and PG-245XL ink cartridges, ensuring a seamless transition for users. This genuine Canon product promises high capacity, delivering more ink for more prints without compromising on quality.
The PG-243 is a reliable and efficient replacement for PG-245 black ink cartridges, providing exceptional value for money. Overall, the Canon PG-243 Pigment Black Ink Cartridge stands out for its long-lasting dark blacks, pigment formulation, and remarkable durability, making it a top choice for reliable printing solutions.

In summary, the Canon PG-243 Original Ink Cartridge is a solid option for those seeking high-quality ink for their Canon Pixma printers. As a fervent writer, I love trying new tools to elevate my efficiency and performance. One such product I recently stumbled upon is the 'Zeblue 4 Color Inkjet Printer Ink Refill Kit', specifically suited for Canon printers.
One of the most appealing aspects was the variety of colors in the kit. The four bottles of dye ink - black, cyan, magenta, and yellow - allowed for vibrant, high-fidelity prints. The high color saturation and ultrafiltration tech were commendable, preventing any clogging in the printhead.
However, the process of refilling the cartridges was more daunting than I initially anticipated. The cartridge refilling system was not as user-friendly as I hoped, necessitating multiple syringes for each color and uncertainty about the durability of these syringes.
The ink itself was a great boon, with its weak acid or alkalescent formula providing an environmentally friendly solution. The high print quality was an added bonus, especially considering the quick-drying formula which made speedy printing possible.
Despite the challenges I've faced, I believe this product can prove to be a great asset for those willing to take the time to understand and use it effectively.

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Canon PG-243 Black and CL-244 Color ink cartridges in my Canon PIXMA printer. The ink cartridges were a four-pack, providing me with black, cyan, and magenta ink for my printer. Upon unboxing, I noticed how the ink cartridges seemed to be quite large compared to other cartridges I've used in the past, making me hopeful for a long-lasting and efficient printing experience.
As I began testing the ink cartridges, I was pleased with the print quality, particularly the sharp text produced by the black ink and the vibrant colors given by the cyan and magenta. The installation process was smooth, with no complications or issues during setup. The convenience of having all three essential colors in one pack was also a major plus.
However, my experience with these ink cartridges came with a caveat. Despite the positive aspects, I found that the ink supply in these cartridges didn't last as long as I would have hoped, especially considering the size and price of the individual cartridges. I had to purchase replacement ink cartridges more often than I expected, which added up to a higher cost for me in the long run.
In summary, the Canon PG-243 Black and CL-244 Color ink cartridges provided good print quality and ease of use, but their relatively short ink supply made the overall experience less satisfying.

For the past few weeks, I've been using these Canon ink cartridges for my printer. The replacement cartridges have proved to be a lifesaver in prolonging the printer's ink life, ensuring high-quality printouts.
One of the features that stood out to me was the cartridge's smudge-proof design. It's reassuring to know that even when printing a quick document, I don't have to worry about smudging or smears on the pages. The up to 244 high-quality colored printouts this cartridge provides is also a big plus – the ink produces vibrant and accurate hues for both documents and photos.
While the pigment-based black ink is faster drying than most inks, ensuring it doesn't smudge, I have noticed that it runs out a bit quicker than the color ink. However, overall, I find these ink cartridges to be of good quality and a cost-effective solution for my printer needs.

I recently needed to replace some ink cartridges for my Canon printer and decided to give the Canon PG-243 / CL-244 Value Pack a try. Let me tell you, it surpassed my expectations in every aspect!
First off, the ink quality was absolutely top-notch. The black ink produced crisp and seamless text, while the dye-based color ink brought vibrant and accurate hues to my photos. It was a delight to see the vivid colors and sharp details on my prints.
However, there was a slightly disappointing side to this experience. It seemed that the ink cartridges didn't last as long as I had hoped. I went through them quite quickly, even though I was only printing moderately. I'm not sure if it's a matter of using more ink per page or a potential issue with the cartridges themselves.
Overall, the Canon PG-243 / CL-244 Value Pack provided exceptional print quality, but it could have been more cost-effective if the ink cartridges lasted a bit longer. Nonetheless, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others looking for high-quality ink for their Canon printer.

As someone who's always on the hunt for ink cartridges that won't break the bank, I was thrilled to stumble upon the Compatible Canon 243 244 Ink Cartridges Value Pack of 2. Having used Canon printers in the past, I knew their ink cartridges are of high quality, and these remanufactured ones are no exception.
The value pack includes one PG-243 black cartridge and one CL-244 tri-color cartridge. The black cartridge works smoothly and consistently, while the tri-color cartridge delivers vibrant and accurate colors. The experience of replacing these cartridges was hassle-free, and the ink flow was more than satisfactory.
However, despite the excellent quality, I did notice a slight difference in the ink cartridge performance compared to the original Canon counterparts. But considering the value for money, I'm more than happy with the trade-off.
Overall, the Compatible Canon 243 244 Ink Cartridges Value Pack offers great value and superior performance for those looking to save some cash on their ink needs.

Buyer's Guide

When purchasing Canon Printer Ink 243 cartridges, understanding the key features and factors to consider will help ensure you choose the right product for your printing needs. In this guide, we'll provide general advice, considerations, and features to look for when selecting Canon printer ink cartridges.

Importance of Compatibility

https://preview.redd.it/liiajsdsab1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29c01d191bdabc210bae22fa5e600e2e4fce54c1
Compatibility is crucial when choosing Canon printer ink cartridges. The cartridge must be compatible with your specific Canon printer model. Using a cartridge that is not compatible may lead to damage to the printer or inferior print quality. Always double-check the compatibility before making a purchase.

Consider the Volume of Usage

Determine the volume of ink usage that your printer requires for its primary functions. If your printer will be used heavily for high-volume tasks such as printing documents, consider purchasing a high-capacity cartridge. This will save money in the long run compared to purchasing multiple smaller cartridges.

Choose the Right Color

Many Canon printers use ink cartridges with multiple color options, including black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. Determine the primary color(s) that your printer will need. For instance, if your printer is mainly used for printing text documents, a black and cyan cartridge may suffice. If you also require colored prints, consider purchasing a cartridge with a mix of colors to ensure optimal print quality.

Consider Ink Levels

Be aware of the amount of ink inside the cartridge when making your selection. Cartridges can be filled with different ink quantities, so it's essential to choose the right cartridge for your printer to prevent wasting ink.

Purchasing Options and Discounts

There are various purchasing options available when purchasing Canon printer ink cartridges. Consider buying in bulk to save money, or take advantage of discounts and promotions available at your preferred online marketplace or retail store.
When purchasing Canon Printer Ink 243 cartridges, always consider the compatibility, ink usage, colors, ink levels, and purchasing options. By doing so, you can ensure that you get the best ink cartridge for your specific printing needs, without wasting money or compromising on print quality.

2024.05.19 06:31 Decent-Principle8918 I want peoples opinions on an idea I had to save on TVs.

If you didn’t know, school districts, and other educational institutions purchase touchscreen displays that can go up to 120 inches.
They’re usually by contract supposed to get rid of them within five years to purchase a new equipment under warranty by the manufacture .
I just purchased two 70 inch Dell interactive displays with touch screen for 167$, as long as these work very well.
I’m considering buying a lot of similar types of displays because they just sold a lot of 6 Promethean displays 70 inches for under 100$ dollars.
Yes, they are heavy, but if I were to factoring the cost of replacing all of my TVs in my house every five years or so it would be cheaper for me to go purchase a crap load of these things for a couple hundred dollars and keep them in my garage.
I only use Apple TVs on them, so spending 100-400$ on a lot of TVs, and then spending 400-500$ on mounts. Seems like a great deal.
I’ll come with HDMI, display ports, VGI, 1080p, etc. And eventually, they’ll start selling the 4K models within the next 3 to 5 years for the same prices.

2024.05.19 06:27 Boscher1 Toilet water keeps running

Hi guys,
Sorry, I'm a really beginner with DIY/Plumbing. I just bought a house and it has a couple of 20 year old toilets within it.
My toilet water often keep running, see the circled area in the image for what doesn't stop after a flush .
The occasional workaround I've been using is to pull upwards on the floatation buoy and then it stops.
I've ordered a basic toilet repair kit, but what part should I target first to replace/fix this issue.
Thank you so much in advance.

2024.05.19 06:26 bach_02 Looking to build a PC (no experience)

TL;DR: PC building newb is wanting to build a PC that can handle regular tech job remote tasks, play pc games at a good frame rate (70-80), and overall run nice.
Hey everyone,
After years of not having a desktop, I decided it’s time to build a PC. I’ve never built a PC before, but being a computer science major I think it could be a good experience given that hardware is not the focus of my major; plus I just think it would be cool to say that I built my own PC. And I’ve been wanting to go back to PC for a little while now.
Keep in mind, I am completely new to this stuff, particularly what the best parts to buy are given what I’m looking for. There are multiple micro centers in my home town, but wanted to do the proper research and get a variety of opinions between micro center workers and the PC community. That way I can really make an ideal desktop for what I want.
Also, I’m sorry this is a lot. I’ve been wanting to do this for years and now that I’m committing to it, I really don’t want to mess it up all because I didn’t do the proper research. Heres some context of what I’m looking for
5-6 (ish..?) year life span-: This could be a ridiculous amount of time, but if it’s possible to do so with the following preferences at the budget I provided, what are the parts that will do so with minimal part replacement?
-Working Remote- I want to be able to sufficiently be able to work from home. Many tech jobs are beginning to follow a hybrid or even fully remote format. In the case that I run into that throughout my career (which seems very likely), I don’t want to run into any non internet connection issues that could raise issues when working remote such as freezing, or slowness due to many apps being open at once (VS code, Remote Desktop, chrome with a good amount of tabs, etc.).
-Windows (which ever version is best in case it isn’t the newest one)- probably a way too obvious thing to include but hear me out. Ive been strictly Apple and have not regularly used a windows device in 8 years. Both great operating systems in their own ways, but one of my main motivations for doing this is that I’ve realized over time that I definitely miss using Windows for many reasons. That being said, I do not know if there is a preferred version of windows 11 versus the latest one, if even the case.
-Gaming- (play just about all games at 60-70fps): Similar to using windows, another motivation I had for doing this is PC gaming. Before I stopped using windows in 2017, I had built a decent sized library on steam and was a pretty avid PC gamer but still played a little console. Switched to only console and, same as windows and mac, both are great for different reasons. But for years I’ve been itching to get back into games like Skyrim, counter strike, and the blizzard library (probably weird choices to say nowadays but remember, I’ve been out of the PC world for 8 years). Along with that, I want to try out all of the great pc games that I’ve come out since that I haven’t had the chance to play and the games that will continue to come out. Overall, I want a build that will be able to play all these titles at a consistent frame rate similar to let’s say Elden Ring on Xbox Series X, with good graphics (but not anything over the top).
-Wi-Fi support- I’m not too sure about this one, but more wanted to ask if this is worth investing into or not if it costs extra.
-Smooth- could be obvious, but I want an overall very smooth user experience. I’ve used a MacBook Pro 2020 edition for a couple years and overall I’ve been happy with the experience. But the one thing that I absolutely hate about it is how much it freezes up on me when I’m in the middle of doing something. Not necessarily very often, but it happens and it’s very annoying. I understand that this is going to become inevitable overtime, but overall I want a reliable and convenient user experience.
Again I’m sorry that this is a lot. If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll get back to you asap

2024.05.19 06:15 Distraction86 My plumber went MIA with my shower cartridge

My plumber went MIA with my shower cartridge
So, a little over a week ago I had a plumber come over to investigate why my shower has been gradually losing water pressure. He said it’s because of the cartridge. He said he would order me a new one and install it asap, and it was going to cost me $600. I agreed, though in hindsight I suspect I was being overcharged. At the time I was busy with work and a baby so I just didn’t think about it. The plumber left with the cartridge and said his office would call to schedule the install. His the office sent me a text message for scheduling and they haven’t responded since I asked for a breakdown of the cost for parts and labor. I don’t know which cartridge I need to order and my instinct is to order several different ones from Amazon and return whichever doesn’t fit. I’m hoping you guys can help me figure out which cartridge I need. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.19 06:04 likeike13 Question on Homeowners vs Condo Policy

Hi, first time in this sub and hoping someone can explain the following to me like I am 2.
I live in a 2 story townhouse and have HOA fees.
The words: Unit and Lot would be my townhouse.
The below excerpt states that the HOA
Section 1. Association's Maintenance Responsibility. a. Association Repairs Generally. The Association shall make all repairs and replacements and provide any maintenance (including necessary painting) to maintain and keep in good condition and repair, clean and aesthetically pleasing (the "Maintenance Standards") (i) the Common Areas including Recreation Facilities; provided, however, that to the extent (city's utilities) has agreed to maintain and does maintain the storm sewers, sanitary sewers and water lines, and their appurtenances, within the Common Areas, the Association shall not be required to do such maintenance, (ii) paved walks, driveways and parking areas located on Lots or Common Areas, (iii) the exterior faces of the exterior walls, fixtures, fencing, painting, roofs, gutters, chimneys, siding, downspouts and roof drainage systems of the Units ( excluding foundations and windows and doors and their frames, hardware and appurtenances, except that the Association shall be responsible for painting the exterior of the doors and their frames), (iv) any grass, and landscaping on Lots installed by Declarant ( except that the Association shall have no responsibility for grass and landscaping contained in the Courtyard Unit's enclosed rear yards), and, (v) any Utility Facilities serving more than one Unit whether or not within a Lot or Unit. In undertaking such duties, the Association shall be responsible for the repair and replacement of paving, cutting grass, pruning and replacing 19 landscaping installed by Declarant ( except for the grass and landscaping contained in the Courtyard Unit's enclosed rear yards), painting, and, except as otherwise provided, providing all other maintenance, repair and replacements to comply with the above Maintenance Standards. The costs for the actions described in this Section 1.a. shall be assessed as described in Art. N, Sec. 1 through 3. The Association shall repair any damage to a Lot or Unit resulting from the Association's acts under this Article VI. Notwithstanding the above, the Owner of a Lot shall make any repairs and replacements to the Unit or the Lot required (i) as the result of an Insurable Loss, to restore the Unit to its condition existing immediately preceding such loss; or (ii) as the result of the acts or negligence of such Owner or his or her Occupants or their respective agents, employees, guests, or contractors. The Association shall not be responsible for the maintenance of any heating and air conditioning facilities located on or outside of the exterior walls of a Unit which exclusively serve that Unit. Association repairs described herein shall be funded as described in Article N.
Would this qualify a swap in coverage from a homeowners policy to a condo policy?
I've read this so much that my wires are now crossed and would really appreciate a separate set of eyes.
Thanks!

2024.05.19 05:59 Soft_Flower_6710 Goosehead home insurance fiasco

We currently have Goosehead insurance but the mail we get is from SageSure. We have had our refrigerator (purchased in 2005 via first owner) out for 3 months (3/10/24) under a claim that was closed because we couldn’t find anyone who could service in our area. Now, we have our water heater broken and I have to get on the phone on Monday (5/20/24) to bring the issue up with the water heater(2005) and the subfloor damage that needs to be repaired. I feel like when I call them they’ll be rude. Mind you, they wouldn’t help us locate anyone to fix the fridge, on top of saying we needed to pay whoever we find out of pocket. Mind you, our deductible for damages to appliances is $500, which coincidentally is the cost to replace the water heater, so I’m thinking in theory that once we do that, they should cover the fridge because the deductible will have been met. They also said would be $500 to replace on top of whatever out of pocket we had to pay an appliance tech. But that may not work because the claim on the fridge has been closed and happened before the water heater issue. They also did not cover our expenses for food loss because we couldn’t find someone to drive to assess the fridge. Nor did they send out an adjuster. So I’m at a loss here on how to approach the call on Monday and not be frustrated. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? We’re in North Carolina btw.

Hello! I've had a wobbly toilet in my basement since moving in. Tried to tighten it down and one of the plastic bolts broke. Went to replace them with brass ones, also replaced the wax ring, however I could not get it snug. Heard a snap while tightening down one of the bolts. Took the toilet back off and the was a crack in the flange.
Couple odd things here though. The flange is not inset into the floor. Rather it sits about 1/2" off the top of the floor. I think this is why I could not get it snug, the bottom of the toilet was in contact with the flange. This also meant the wax ring was almost non-existent on the flange, it had all been pushed out the sides. Also, the Flange is not anchored to the floor with screws but seems to be attached to the plumbing pipe itself.
Not really sure where to go from here. Seems like replacing the flange would be a pain with it connected to the pipe. Also, should the Flange should be inset into the floor? Hoping for advice/recommendations. Thanks!

2024.05.19 05:16 Annual-Minute-9391 Water shut off stuck closed?

Hey everyone. I replaced my kitchen faucet today because it was leaking. Everything went fine on the install but once I went to turn the water back on the hot water didn’t have a nice “swoosh” when opening the valve, and indeed there is no hot water.
It’s a “hand wheel” type valve and it’s in the basement under the kitchen rather than under the sink for some reason.
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot? Or do I for sure need a plumber to replace it? Something like this wouldn’t set me back too much right? Lines are all copper.
Thanks!

2024.05.19 05:13 Delicious-Tourist854 Battery light coming on, New Alternator, New Battery?

Was just hoping for some advice, or a possible idea of what’s wrong/how costly it could be. It’s Saturday night, my mechanic won’t be open til Monday. Anyways, have a 2011 Chrysler 200. I still have the records, but I had my alternator replaced on 10/11/2022. I haven’t drove anywhere near 100,000 miles either. My battery light came on while driving today, and I thought pretty simply it must be the battery. I haven’t had any problems since I had the new alternator. I put a new battery in myself today. Took it for a drive, and after a couple minutes of driving the battery light flicks back on. Has started fine, and battery light only turns on after driving, however I haven’t drove except to test it. What’s this gonna cost me? 🙃

Chapter 241: Until Now
The doors to the Hartzwiese Adventurer’s Guild opened.
Before, the sound of raucous laughter could be heard flooding the street outside, filling the quiet of a spring night with all the debauchery the local drunkards had to offer.
Despite the halls of adventurers not being formal drinking establishments, those within were ready to compete in boisterousness with all the taverns, inns and pubs of the town combined. And also win. Handily.
And yet–
The moment the doors parted and I stepped within, a hush as quiet as any grave fell over its inhabitants.
A woman balancing with her derrière upon the head of another became still, the alcohol in her cup the only movement as it dribbled onto a stunned face below her.
A man slurping from the communal cauldron stared wordlessly, the stew pouring in, and then out of his mouth as the muscles of his throat forgot the means to swallow.
A bartender asleep upon a row of kegs quietly rose, the sudden din of silence waking him where the sound of debauchery and those drinking from the taps beside him had failed.
Here, there, and everywhere, eyes widened as the sudden silence was filled with the sounds of my footsteps as I strolled past, my loyal handmaiden and my brother’s attendant in my wake.
And also–
Mreow.
Mrewowow.
Meww.
Cats.
Tabby cats.
Calico cats.
Ragdoll cats.
Cats with twirly whiskers. Cats with puffy faces. Cats with slightly rounded ears.
Behind me, skipping around my legs while taking turns to sit upon my shoulders and very occasionally my head, were a legion of cats of various shapes, sizes and colours.
But no matter the springiness of their whiskers, the shine of their coat or the liveliness of their tails, one thing to bring them all together was the anarchy they caused.
This was no neat line of ducklings following after their mother.
This was a barbarian horde.
With no sense of organisation other than a shared drive to claim everything as their own, they immediately skipped amidst the stunned adventurers, scavenging for all the copious scraps while still turning their noses away from the alcohol forming sticky traps upon the floor.
Saying nothing, I allowed their demanding cries to fill up the hall as I swept forwards, pausing before a wall plastered from end to end with faded notices and requests long gone unanswered.
One by one, I systemically tore every request featuring a crudely drawn image of a cat, gathering into my arms a pile of parchment large enough to reach my chin.
Then, I made my way to the wooden desk.
A receptionist waited with a smile at the ready.
“Greetings! Welcome to the Hartzwiese branch of the Adventurer’s Guild. I see you’ve removed several notices from the–”
Poomph.
Silenced but unperturbed, this latest clone watched as I dropped the stack of requests onto her desk, before promptly topping off the stack with a copper ring.
“Do what must be done,” I said, my voice defiant. “I am ready.”
The receptionist answered me with a smile more permanent than the wall the notices were torn from.
A moment later–
“[Identify].”
A green hue appeared in her clasped palms as she assessed the ring.
“Juliette. B-rank. Your registered branch is Reitzlake.”
The sound of several cups clattered against the floor.
“Welcome again to Hartzwiese. I see from your commission history that you have an extraordinary amount of completions for recovering lost cats. May I assume the significant number of cats now roaming the branch hall relate to the notices removed from the wall?”
I pursed my quivering lips.
“Maybe.”
“Wonderful. And how many cats is it that you’ve rescued?”
“... Lots.”
“I see. Please give me a moment while I confirm the requirements of our commissions.”
The receptionist swiftly retrieved a stack of parchment from a drawer.
As she flicked through, her eyes simultaneously went to every cat roaming, napping and clawing in the hall. A skill not even monstrous overseers from the abyss with their dozens of eyestalks could match. But that’s only to be expected.
Wherever these receptionists were found, it was from a level deeper than any monster dared roam.
Eventually, she gave a nod.
“Thank you for waiting. There appears to be an excess of cats in relation to the number of commissions we have available. We’ll endeavour to ensure that every cat is rehomed at the earliest opportunity through our partner agencies and charities. But unfortunately, I can only provide official acknowledgement for cats rescued through a formal commission.”
I sucked in a deep breath, hoping that patience was one of the things I accidentally inhaled.
“Fine. And how many commissions does that end up being, then? … 10? 15?”
The receptionist flicked through her bundle of parchments once more.
“94.”
“... Excuse me?”
“I can confirm the successful completion of 94 simultaneous F-ranked commissions. Congratulations. This is a new record, breaking what appears to be one earlier set by yourself. A remarkable achievement befitting a B-rank member of the guild.”
The receptionist’s professional smile never wavered.
I thought that would be the worst of it.
But then–
She slowly brought her hands together … and started applauding.
It was the leak which broke the dam.
At once, she was joined by all who were present to witness this crowning moment of regret.
I turned around in time to see a riot in motion.
“W-Wooooooooooo!!!!”
“In … Incredible …”
“A new record … I … I heard it was broken in Trierport … to think I’d witness it broken again!”
“A B-rank adventurer … ?! Where … Where did she come from … ?!”
There was no polite, respectful applause here.
It was the wild cheering of a crowd at a tournament. The whooping cries of theatregoers calling for an encore. The acclaim of my father as he elbowed others to delight in the poetry I’d written when I was 6 and thus now regularly attempted to burn.
Everywhere I turned, I saw and heard the acclaim mixed with shouts of horror as mugs of alcohol were spilled on purpose and by accident. The layabouts stomped on the floor, doing their best to murder decorum under the strain of unbridled emotion.
Only a few falling teardrops formed any hint of more dignified revelry, the glimmer of admiration running down cheeks as sniffles were hidden amidst the raucous cheering.
And then I bore witness to the most morbid sight.
Like a tidal wave of soiled clothes and snotty faces, they suddenly came as one, hands reaching out for me with dripping mugs still in their grips. Horror struck at my soul. And unlike a farmer who’d scarpered into the night, I had nobody who could heal a wound caused by hooligans accepting me as their own.
“A-Amazing!! Take my drink! Take anyone’s drink!!”
“So many cats rescued … even my allergies can’t believe it!”
“My gods, it’s a legend! An adventurer among adventurers!”
This.
This right here.
This was the lowest point of my life … were I not an unparalleled genius.
“Oho … ohoho …”
At once, the wave halted.
Faces which were lit up in unabashed delight turned to looks of mild confusion against the tinkling music of my laughter.
They needed to cycle through the expressions until they reached horror and shame.
“Ohhohohohohohoho!!”
… For I was no drunkard seeking to join their ranks!
No … I was Juliette Contzen, 3rd Princess to the Kingdom of Tirea!
And that meant every action I took, every word I spoke, and every cat I saved was for a reason beyond the hopes and dreams these hoodlums had of wanton debauchery and rusting swords!
Indeed!
A lesser princess than I may slink away into the night, cowed by the utter shame, humiliation and disgrace of completing so many F-ranked requests that I somehow broke a record I’d only just set!
But I was made of greater things!
Of schemes and subterfuges so deep that it would take too long to explain! The plots I weaved were a silken web more intricate than any cogs which made up Coppelia as she doubled up, desperately trying to stop herself from succumbing to more pain from laughter!
And that meant with every cat request now denied to these louts … they would finally do some work!
“Ohoho … ohohohohoho!! Behold and be afraid! Witness before you the coming of a new dawn, here to lift you from your days of boundless reverie! Unfurl the shutters and gaze upon a radiance so pure it brands your dallying minds! The scorching sun has come to test the snail’s back, and all that your bleary eyes see is a great salt lake to devour you whole! Shrivel as you cling upon the sweat which drips upon your brow, for that is the proof you’re yet alive!”
A sudden silence met my proclamation of their coming ordeal.
And then–
“Wooooooooooooooooooooooo!”
“I don’t understand! But what a speech!”
“If she can do it, so can we!”
I raised a hand to my lips, barely covering my smile.
“Ohhhohohohohohohoho … !”
Here it was!
Operation: Gainful Employment!
An entirely new strategy, as bold as it was uncharted!
By removing what was surely the vast majority of missing cat quests available to the adventurers of this town, they would have no choice, utterly none whatsoever, but to engage in actual work! The type of work adventurers openly advertised themselves as doing!
Monster subjugation! Crime prevention! Fetching artifacts from hidden dungeons and then succumbing to their wounds at the entrance while the Royal Treasury pocketed the treasure!
Yes, this was clearly a highly experimental tactic.
But what was I, if not a bastion of creativity?
At the very least, I utterly refused to accept the status quo! An organisation dedicated exclusively to rescuing lost cats or elbowing into my kingdom’s sovereign affairs was no good to me!
Thus … I could not cower like some towngirl nauseous from the smell of their revelry.
Instead, I would squeeze the Adventurer’s Guild dry until the day I replaced them with an army of trained poodles. Until that joyous day, I could never tear my eyes away when they waited to be robbed.
To do so was more than a dereliction of duty …
Why, I’d be an accomplice to their drunken escapades!
My vow remained unchanged. For my goal, I would brave any indignity. The ring I was hoping the receptionist would forget to return was proof of that.
And thus–
I stood tall as a summer reed, proud in the knowledge that I had no need to feel even an inkling of embarrassment over completing 94 simultaneous F-ranked commissions! …
“Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.”
“S-Stop at once! You are not to laugh!”
“Pffffttt~”
“C-Coppelia!!”
Clearly not seeing the angel of self-sacrifice who I was, Coppelia held one hand tightly around her mouth. Even so, she failed to stop either the sound of her amusement or the tears falling from her eyes.
My only salvation was that it came at significant cost to her. Even now, she careened between laughter and painful regret.
I decided to offer both her and myself mercy.
Turning to the receptionist, I found a modest pouch already waiting upon the wooden desk. As well as a copper ring waiting beside it.
“Thank you for your service to the Adventurer’s Guild,” said the receptionist, her professional smile undaunted by the commotion. “Your total remuneration is 102 gold crowns, 7 silver crowns and 9 copper crowns. I’ve taken the liberty to compile all your separate payments together.”
I took the pouch and ignored the ring.
The receptionist pushed the ring forwards.
A long moment later, I collected it, uncertain what a receptionist would do if I tossed it into the communal cauldron, but knowing it would somehow still end up on my finger regardless.
With my head held high, I bravely ignored the chorus of voices unknowingly cheering for their own hardship as I swept past. Renewed tears and applause filled the hall. A few cats attempted to follow me. I stopped to shoo them away.
And then I was outside, the door closing behind me.
“... Goodness, that was quite the sight,” said Renise with a bemused smile. “It reminded me somewhat of the inns of Reitzlake’s docks. I wonder if all the halls of adventurers are like that, or merely those which you frequent?”
“Please don’t insinuate I’m responsible for the debauchery which occurs wherever the Adventurer’s Guild is concerned. That’s something I can claim no credit for.”
“You say that … but to me, it seems that you caused quite a stir. That really is a remarkable number of cats you rescued, after all. Even I can tell that 94 simultaneous F-ranked commissions–”
“Miss Renise.”
The maid’s smile wavered against whatever fatigued expression I was making.
A moment later, it fell away entirely as she switched to her role as my brother’s attendant and the leader of whatever scoundrels he’d charged her with herding.
“... Yes, I suppose there’s time for idle conversation later. There’s a guardhouse nearby. We should report on all that’s happened tonight.”
I gave a nod of agreement.
Hopefully, the baroness hadn’t woken from her stupor yet. But if she had, I was certain the single portrait of myself I’d returned to the wall of her gallery to smile down at her gagged and bound state would calm her nerves.
Renise hummed towards the direction of Hartzwiese’s centre, before returning her attention to me.
“If you wish to keep your identity incognito, I can see guards sent to where they’re needed using my own authority, and arrange for the appropriate seizure of the goods and crowns we’ve discovered.”
I beamed at once.
My, so prudent! It’s little wonder she was chosen by Roland!
“A judicious offer. And one I’ll accept gladly, providing the burden isn’t too severe.”
“This is merely an administrative task, and little burden compared to what both yourself and Miss Coppelia regularly perform. In any event, it is only efficient. I expect I’ll be spending a significant amount of time at the baroness’s farmstead. It is quite extensive. If possible, I would like to make use of it for Rose House. I imagine having such a facility close to the Granholtz border would have its uses.”
I nodded, already forgetting the barn’s existence.
“I encourage you to use your discretion as required. My brother has put his trust in you, and so I both expect and know that you shall not disappoint in furthering the kingdom’s prosperity.”
The young woman smiled. One filled with appreciation, but also lacking ambition.
Good.
An excellent combination as far as retainers were concerned.
“Thank you. Although I worry you place too much trust in my abilities. In truth, those like Baroness Arisa would have made for a greater asset to the kingdom. Her resourcefulness must be acknowledged.”
“It is not resourcefulness my kingdom requires. It is loyalty. And hers is a pit so empty it drains others.”
“That’s true. But at least we were able to acquire some useful things from her nonetheless.”
Renise pulled out a tiny vial from the belt around her thigh.
A golden liquid was stored within, glimmering with an unnatural light.
“These were in her chamber,” she said, her eyes lacking emotion as she surveyed the bright liquid. “When we met, she actually attempted to purchase my loyalty with this.”
“A suspect vial. How quaint. And what miracle did she promise?”
“One that would wake my parents from their curse of eternal slumber.”
“... And is it?”
“I don’t believe so, no. This is one of many identical vials I found in her chamber’s desk drawer. All prominently labelled with instructions to only drink as required to stave off the effects of bloating.”
Renise returned the vial to her belt with a slightly embarrassed smile.
“It’s still useful,” she admitted. “But just not for what I require.”
I gave a simple nod as my reply.
Nothing else needed to be said.
She hoped to see her parents wake from their prison of dormancy. An understandable wish. And one I wasn’t required to supplement with the comment that no pair named the Smuggler King and the Smuggler Queen were likely to receive as light a sentence as their daughter.
I could not speak on behalf of Roland. Although I imagined that as a kind man, he would prefer not to pass judgements which were total. But as the Crown Prince, he did not have the luxury of kindness.
It would take much to change their fate.
But perhaps that’s why Renise was here, still proving true, and not accepting stomach ailment potions from a baroness.
A moment of silence followed.
Renise gave a short sigh. And that was that.
She set her eyes on the task ahead–at least until whatever words she’d parted her mouth to say were interrupted by Coppelia’s humming instead.
“Sooooooooooooooo … you just want to wake up two people eternally sleeping, right?”
A small smile met her optimistic voice.
“If a cure were readily available, I’m certain I would have found it by now. I believe one might be possible, but it would take skill and ingredients beyond any apothecary I know of.”
“Well, sure, you could go that way. But what about going straight to the source instead?”
“The source?”
“Sure. They’re asleep, right? So just ask the one in charge of where they are now.”
“I’m … not quite sure I follow?”
Coppelia clapped her hands together and beamed.
“The Spring Court is the realm of dreams. Chances are, they must have shown their faces around a few times by now. If you ask the Spring Queen nicely, she might do you a favour.”
“The Spring Queen? … The fae?”
“Mmh~ luckily, we have someone with connections here!”
Renise was startled out of her reply.
It was nothing compared to me. The one being pointed at.
“Coppelia!” I said, truly aghast at the suggestion. “The fae are not to be taken lightly. Why, I still have nightmares about my conversation with the Winter Queen! I learned a side to royalty that day which I shall never forget … and I’m quite poorer for it!”
“You met … the Winter Queen?” asked Renise, her eyes suddenly wide.
“Unfortunately, yes, but I had zero intention of meeting her, and I’ve just as little intention of meeting any other fae as well. Including the Spring Queen.”
I waved away the coming query to declare what was just as important as my lack of enthusiasm.
“Besides, I’ve not the foggiest idea how I would even hope to use these supposed connections I have.”
“Oh, that’s the easy bit,” said Coppelia, her casual disregard for what counted as ‘easy’ more terrifying than any lout I’d met today. “The hard part is getting them to do what you want. But meeting them? The fae are creatures of stories. If the time is right, they’ll speak to you–one way or another.”
“Then they must book an appointment. One which I can formally reject.”
“I mean, I don’t think you have much choice. You didn’t last time, right?”
“The last time, I was sat beside the Winter Queen’s crown. I see no fae artifacts to hook me away. And that means utterly no scenario in which I could be abducted without my express–”
I suddenly stopped, clasping my hands around my mouth.
A moment later, I raised my arms in a martial art I’d just invented, turning repeatedly on the spot.
Renise blinked at me.
“Excuse me, but what are–”
“Shhshhshh!!”
I paused, gazing intently around at the quiet, dark streets of Hartzwiese, all the while ignoring Coppelia’s giggling at my near miss.
That … That was close!
“O-Oho … oho … I almost invited something terrible. Truly, it’s perhaps best not to needlessly voice things which Fae Queens and their deviant brand of magic could use …”
Coppelia nodded at me, as proud as she was clearly disappointed.
“You’re lucky. If the Spring Queen had a sense of humour, she’d have snagged you right there and then.”
“No. If the Spring Queen had a sense of humour, she’d wait until–”

2024.05.19 04:58 Friendly_Day_9902 AITA for replacing my regular mattress with a water bed as exposure therapy for my fiancé?

So I (33M) proposed to my fiancée (30F) a few months ago, and we’ve been planning the wedding ever since. She wants a traditional Catholic wedding, but I suggested something that may be a little abstract. I suggested having our wedding on a boat. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with aquatic life, and I thought the next best thing to having a scuba diving wedding was one that involved being on a boat! My fiancée was heavily against this idea. When I asked why, she said that she is “deathly afraid of water, especially deep water, and would not want to be at risk of drowning if she fell in the water due to being in a heavy dress." I thought this was crazy of her to say, because clearly, if we were on a boat, there would be lifesavers and trained professionals that could save anyone that fell over. I asked if the cost was the true reason why she did not want to do my concept, and she said no, but I doubt that. We are both in graduate school and are in a decent amount of debt, but we have family members willing to contribute to the cost. Additionally, I have a family member willing to donate their boat for the wedding. The argument got pretty heated, with her calling me “ignorant” and saying that I’ve known about her fear of water for years and never listened, but this is the first time I’ve heard of it. She stormed off, and the argument ended there.
I am a deep believer in not letting fear guide your decisions, so when she said her only objection was being scared, I thought of a way to make her less scared. That night, while she was asleep, I ordered a water bed on Amazon, got two-day shipping, and set the delivery time to when I knew my wife would be at work. I called up a few friends to ask if they were free, and I planned to have everyone meet up to help me remove the old mattress and replace it with the new one. When it finally got delivered, I started working on removing the mattress.
Essentially, we were done by late afternoon, and I had enough time to cook dinner and get ready before my fiancée got home. We had a good night, and everything was going fine until she came to get into bed. I made sure to wash the sheets and covers and remake the bed so everything looked identical. When she got in, she said, “What the fuck is this?” so I told her what I had done and why. I just did it to make her less sensitive to the feeling of rocking in water! She started yelling at me, telling me that I never respected her decisions and that she wasn’t sleeping in our bed tonight, and locked herself in the guest room. The next morning, when I got ready to go to work, she still hadn’t left the room, and I assumed that that night she would be willing to talk. However, when I got home, the door was still closed and her shoes were unmoved. I texted her a few times, asking her to talk, before deciding just to go to sleep. When I sat on the bed, I sank incredibly deep. This was because she POPPED HOLES INTO THE WATER BED. It leaked everywhere, causing the carpet underneath to be SOAKING WET and damaged. I went to try the knob on the door to tell her to come out so we could talk, but the door was unlocked. The room was empty, and when I looked at the bed, there was a note stating she went to her parent’s house for a few days to think about this and us.
I told my friends this, and almost everyone is saying I am an asshole for doing this, but I don’t think I am. I just wanted my fiancée to see that a boat wedding is not that scary. AITA?

2024.05.19 04:53 shoshana20 I am 25 (26 on Tuesday!), make $80,000 in New York City, and spent $1955.99 in my first six months of cat ownership

We haven’t had a lot of reddit money diaries lately and I was curious about how much I spent on her in the first 6 months, so I did this to tally up! I’ve done MD before so I’m just going to do a very quick summary here: I have a masters degree, in workforce last 2 years, I was making $100,000 til a layoff in late April. I have roughly $12k in retirement, $16k in checking, and $27k in savings. No debt. I adopted Cordelia 11/11/2023 and the bulk of expenses, though not all of them, are split with my sisteroommate. If not otherwise noted, assume the total was split 50/50 between us. In the interest of tracking full costs, I will only be noting the totals.
Upfront Costs/Adoption Story
I came in knowing I wanted an adult cat and that special needs wasn’t a dealbreaker, and it was truly love at first sight when I met Cordelia (nee Socks). She was 6 years old and recently re-surrendered to the shelter after her owner, an elderly Eastern European woman, moved back to her home country. She had a rough backstory, grew up in a hoarder home and was found and brought to the shelter when the home caught fire and firefighters found literally over a hundred cats in cages. In addition to being less appealing to potential adopters because of age, she was suffering from dandruff mostly due to being overweight and was/is on a prescription diet for proteinuria. Nevertheless, she is a gentle, loving, total couch potato of a cat who adores being brushed and touched by humans.
The shelter is pay what you wish, and I made a $100 donation to the shelter (not split). Additionally, I had no cat supplies, so before I brought her home I went to my local pet store. I had a $100 gift card that I won in a raffle to benefit a pitbull rescue, but still paid $44.99 out of pocket for a haul that included a litter box, 20 lb bag of litter, a cat condo (that she never even touched, naturally), Litter Genie, and a bag of Litter Genie refills. I did not need to pay for a carrier at this point because the shelter provided one.
Category Total: $144.99
Pet Insurance
$25/month, through Healthy Paws, not much to say.
Category Total: $150
Toys and Accessories
Other than the cat condo previously noted, I spent $51 at PetSmart (not split) on a harness and some random toys. As usual, she does not like any of these toys and only wants to play with my dirty socks. This purchase also included a slicker brush because she loves the brushie. For $2 at TJ Maxx I got her a scratch pad that she loved and scratched to death and I replaced for another $2 later on. At one point she scratched my doorframe so I got a scratching post with a built-in brush at the base and also got more Litter Genie bags for a $50 pet store visit. In January I returned to the pet store yet again and bought a water fountain for $30, which was another dud. Last month I bought her a set of raised food/water bowls for $20 and pleased to say they actually increased her water intake! I also bought a Furminator for $20 as the season change has made her quite scrunkly. Finally, I’ve spent $110 on alternative carriers because the one from the shelter is pretty awkward and heavy. I got a backpack carrier for vet visits and today I ordered a rolling carrier to try and bring her on public transit to my parents’ house.
This total does not include things my parents bought for their grandkitty, such as a cat bed that looks like a present box, or random small toys that I paid for in cash. This stuff is also not split because it was all me being silly and extra.
Category Total: $258
Food
This is also sort of a recurring cost, but as I mentioned, she is on prescription urinary food. Though maybe not for much longer because she had a bladder test Friday! Every 48 days, I pay $122 for two 24 packs of her wet food. She eats a can a day and also gets a tiny bit of prescription dry food so she doesn’t spend all night bugging me. The shelter did send me home with what they had of her prescription. The total spent on her food thus far is slightly higher than the recurring cost because I had to replace the dry food once.
Category Total: $545
Vet Visits
As part of her pet insurance coverage, I needed to bring her in for a comprehensive physical exam within 30 days of adoption. I brought her to a local vet and paid $217 for a physical exam. The vet found that she had ear mites, presumably from the shelter environment, so this total includes an ear cleaning and preventative mite treatment. This also includes a fecal analysis. Two weeks later, we decided to get Cordelia microchipped, which was $295 including the actual procedure and the registration fee with Pettrac.
This past Friday, Cordelia had another vet visit. This was primarily because she’s due for a rabies vaccine in May, but we also opted to do her annual physical so both those appointments would be on the same schedule and she won’t need to go in every 6 months for routine stuff. The total here was $346, of which $125 was the urinalysis. In addition to the urinalysis, physical, and rabies shot, I also got her a gabapentin prescription to hopefully avoid peeing/pooping/vomiting on car rides.
Category Total: $858
Grand Total: $1955.99
Reflections
Sorry not sorry for being a crazy cat lady. I have some photos in my post history of Cordelia, she truly lights up my life and my/my sister’s apartment. There’s a new coziness and warmth that wasn’t there before she came home. As I type this MD, she’s next to me on my bed making biscuits. Also, she's down nearly 1.5 lbs since I brought her home! She still has a bit to go to get to a healthy weight but she's noticeably improved at grooming herself.

2024.05.19 04:40 FunDragonfruit8869 Fold5 Samsung Care+ Questions

So I know that Samsung switched providers and now we have cheaper $29 or $99 repairs at the cost of $13 a month.
But i was wondering, has anyone had their inner screen housing replaced for $29? It says cracked screens $29, but the inner screen hardly cracks, and the usual problem is black lines, and hinge problems.
Also, do they still charge you upfront when utilizing a samsung care+ claim? For example a complete replacement due to accidental damage?
I notice if you pay monthly, you can have up to 3 years of coverage, but if you do the 1 time payment, you're only getting 2 years.
Also, the first year is kind of redundant since any issues (asside from user damage) will be covered by your normal samsung warranty?

2024.05.19 04:10 LohPan Heads up: Debian Trixie WirePlumber 0.5 ALSA configuration change and Lua scripts

Starting with WirePlumber 0.5, the configuration system has changed and there is no automatic migration or import of the old Lua scripts into the new system. See:
https://pipewire.pages.freedesktop.org/wireplumbedaemon/configuration/migration.html#config-migration
You may have customized your audio Lua scripts to fix, for example, the subwoofer and center speakers being swapped in their output. This causes the output of the center speaker to be garbled. This is a common problem with Linux and audio cards, such as for USB-attached Dolby 7.1 surround sound cards.
To see whether you have version 0.5 or later of WirePlumber:
wireplumber --version
On my computer, the following steps are how I fixed the problem of my center speaker and subwoofer outputs being swapped after applying the latest updates on my Trixie machine today.
Get the exact node.description property string of your sound card:
pw-cli list-objects Node
Make a backup copy of the relevant conf file:
cd /usshare/wireplumbewireplumber.conf.d/ sudo cp alsa-vm.conf alsa-vm.conf.BACKUP
Edit the alsa-vm.conf file and add another matches section, similar to this:
{ matches = [ { node.description = "CM106 Like Sound Device Analog Surround 7.1" } ] actions = { update-props = { audio.position = ["FL","FR","RL","RR","LFE","FC","SL","SR"] } } }
The description of your sound card is not likely to be the same as mine ("CM106..."), so replace that string with your own. Note that using a wildcard ("CM106*") used to work in the past, but, at least on my computer, the wildcard method did not work and the exact description had to be used instead.
Hence, your entire alsa-vm.conf file might look like this now, but with your own sound card description substituted in for mine:
# ALSA node property overrides for virtual machine hardware monitor.alsa.rules = [ # Generic PCI cards on any VM type { matches = [ { node.name = "~alsa_input.pci.*" cpu.vm.name = "~.*" } { node.name = "~alsa_output.pci.*" cpu.vm.name = "~.*" } ] actions = { update-props = { api.alsa.period-size = 1024 api.alsa.headroom = 2048 } } } { matches = [ { node.description = "CM106 Like Sound Device Analog Surround 7.1" } ] actions = { update-props = { audio.position = ["FL","FR","RL","RR","LFE","FC","SL","SR"] } } } ]
Restart the WirePlumber service:
systemctl --user restart wireplumber.service
Test your audio output to confirm that the center speaker and subwoofer speaker are being used correctly; for example, in Gnome Settings, go to Audio and click the Test button. If they are still swapped, edit the above alsa-vm.conf file again. Experiment with the relative order of "LFE" and "FC" in the audio.position property. These represent your low-frequency subwoofer and center speaker. If your front left/right, side left/right and rear left/right speaker outputs are incorrect too, then experiment with changing all of their relative orderings.
After saving your edits, restart the WirePlumber service and test again.
I hope the above is helpful. It took me a non-trivial amount of time to figure this out...

2024.05.19 04:08 jackielegs17 Need to break lease with alcoholic roommate or get him to leave/replace him

I (29M) recently had to find a new random roommate in the state of PA and I found one (33M) through Facebook. After a month everything seemed fine but new within the last 6 weeks there's been multiple instances of drinking, including one where his dad took him to a detox center for a couple weeks to sober up cause he TRASHED his room. He doesn't own much of anything in the apartment and he's well...not clean like not flushing the toilet and pissing in bottles in his room. I just recently got laid off work and I'm trying to stay where I'm at cause I love my apt and rent I pay while job hunting but I have 9-10 months left on my lease. After talking with my landlord privately, we cannot tell him to stop drinking and/or evict him. The landlord recommended that I talk to him and ask him to leave or that I can find someone to replace me. I highly doubt this guy will leave but I really love my living situation outside of him. Is there anything I can do to get him to leave and I stay and find someone to replace him? Or am I in a situation where I have to walk away and find someone to replace me?

2024.05.19 04:07 Adventurous_Horse434 Anyone's life got worse after a breakup

My ex dumped me 5 years ago and my life keeps going downhill since with the exception of getting my masters degree and paying hundreds of dollars for therapy. 12 hours after my breakup, I ended up in the ER because my heart nearly stopped. Someone on a bus I was ridding noticed I was unconscious and yelled for the driver to pull over and have a medical helicopter take me to a nearby hospital. At that time I was very fortunate to have money to pay for an airlift. A few days later, I got an unpaid internship after the person who hired me provided me false promises. That didn't help me get over my breakup. After the internship ended, the guy my ex dumped me for tried to harm me, it resulted in me moving away from home for three months. That gave my parents mixed feelings. They were very eager to push me out of the house. I was going in and out between two states on Saturdays because I was part of a very nice church in my home state. Sometimes I stayed in my safe location, there were some instances where I hid in libraries and volunteered in senior centers because those were locations where someone could call first responders in case the guy my ex dumped me for finds me. As I returned to my home state, I got a job at a local grocery store. While working there people mistreat me because I had a Bachelors degree and my parents started berating me for sacrificing my education and future for my last ex. The manager of my department used me as as punching bag, she treated grocery baggers like I'm cheap soil at Home Depot. Afterwards I returned to community college and found three people to potentially replace my last ex but unfortunately my hopes and dreams were dashed when the lockdown came. I never saw the girls I could hook up with again. My mental health started to get worse and worse but there was a light at the end of the tunnel when I got a therapist in 2021. She pointed out my life feels worse due to abandonment issues not related to the pandemic. 2021 was also the year I got into grad school. I thought there was hope in my life again when in person classes resumed but it just keeps getting worse because everyone at my university was either too young, not interested in dating or just don't meet my super high standards. Even during summer yoga class, I found it hard to hook up again. These are the only two locations I feel comfortable hooking up in. By December 2023, I got my masters but due to my neurodivergence, it's been hard to find a job and move on from my breakup. I feel like I am doing nothing with my life but wasting hundreds of dollars on therapy (includes the occasional train or airfare, AirBnB costs). Anyone also have a similar story?
