Update: marking this as solved. I don't know what caused the lock out - I'm 100% certain I only entered my password once. "Resolution" if it counts: I'm thankful I had the DSfinder app installed on my ipad through which I was able to see "IP Blocking" settings and managed to unblock the IP address of my PC. Had forgotten I had installed it on that device. Don't think it contributed to the issue as again, device is WiFI only and never open the Synology app. Just massively relieved!

Would appreciate some help here. I'm really confused what's going on.
Background
I last logged into my DSM 2 days ago on my PC. Just tried to log in right now and something odd happened, I'm used to signing in by entering my password followed by 2FA code even though it's my personal device. This time on attempting to sign on to my admin account, after entering my username I received a message to validate my log in using the Synology Secure SignIn app instead of entering a password. I do not have the app. I tried another non-admin account, still the same message. Upon attempting to log in with a password, instead I receive a message saying too many failed attempts have been made to log in and the IP address has been blocked. To be clear, I had not made any prior attempts from my personal device (it was sleeping until about 5 minutes before I attempted to log in). Although I couldn't access my DSM account, I was still able to access my mapped network drives. I tried to restart my PC and tried to log in again, but same result, and this time no luck with accessing mapped network drives either.
Edit to add: I never log into my NAS through any other devices besides this PC in my home network.
Existing Security
My NAS is exposed to the internet only via Plex. It is port forwarded so not the standard 32400 and behind a double nat. Plex has a secure password and also has 2FA.
I have firewall rules set up so only can be accessed in my country of origin UK, and after 3 or 5 wrong attempts I believe it blocks the IP. Prior to this I've never had any attempts made on my NAS.

In addition, I haven't logged into my authenticator app on this device.
Oddities
One of the drives I have is dedicated to media. I'm still able to access this through Plex. I run Plex through docker and I am still able to access this through my NAS IP address.
Edit to add: I have DLNA enabled on my NAS, I'm able to access media through this as well (including through my PC).
I have another laptop that was also sleeping. I've just switched it on, it is still connected to my mapped network drives and I can access the majority of them (different limited access credentials), but none of the content is blocked by any means. I never attempt to log into DSM through this laptop. Only the initial mapping of the drives.
I've not received any emails notifying that I've been hacked/my content has been locked until I pay
Synology assistant isn't having luck finding the Synology NAS on the network at all either.

I've requested a speed upgrade from my internet provider. They've sent me a new router and asked me to plug it in within 5 days. I've not done this yet and was actually logging into my DSM account to double check all my settings prior to switching out.

At this point I'm clueless if it's something malicious or not. I'm going to run Malwarebytes overnight on my PC. Is there a chance that a change at my ISP side could result in the above?
I'm thinking worst case scenario I've been hacked, but let's say I have a keylogger on my machine, is it possible for them to break into my NAS based on my passwords alone? My 2FA is always from my personal phone and I don't log into that on my PC. Really not sure how else they could have gotten access, and again, no emails or anything, nothing has been zipped.
Would appreciate your help / suggestions on what I can do here please!

Hi everyone.
So I face the " A media driver your computer needs is missing" issue that several people are seeing while trying to install Win 11 on a new PC build...
Problem being that:

• My pc case only has USB 3.0 and 3.1 so forget the "go port 2.0" solution
• My drive is a SAMSUNG 990 pro 2Tb. I managed to create a primary partition using the command on the "repair" option of the installer but even if I can now see a C: disk, I still got the message.
• Trying to just get a driver for the SAMSUNG ssd is IMPOSSIBLE !! does anyone have a solution to this? Where can I just find the drivers for the Hard Drive, without passing by the wizard ? samsung is bugging us with their stupid WIZARD and how exactly am I supposed to run a wizard to update my drivers if I don't have Win installed ??

Does anyone know how to just install the driver? Also, is the "Intel rapid storage stuff" compatible with the Samsung ssd ?
I really need help guys, if someone could explain. If I need to make more verif in BIOS, please let me know, otherwise how can I unblock this situation?
Also, just creating the USB boot for Win 11 was an absolute purge, I had to go recreating the ISO without the autorun etc... because nothing would work otherwise. Could the issue come from this? This was a fix that I found on Reddit because just doing the standard Boot key would just not work. I had to use Rufus and Winarchiver, which I find absurd because Microsoft should provide a direct USB installer normally no? Why doesn't it work properly?
I really don't understand why things just got soo screwed up right now! That's not my first PC build, but I don't remember having had so many difficulties before...

So, I managed to resolve the situation so I will leave this comment here for anyone who face the same situation in the future..
If you face the "A media driver your computer needs is missing" issue, you may want to troubleshoot in the following manner:
First of all, a special shoutout to Microsoft technical support who spent a good half hour with me on the chat and also found all the issues that led to this situation!

• Yes, the troubleshooting started by asking if the USB drive was too old or malfunctioning. Apparently, that could be a cause of the bad installation. In my case, it wasn't. Also, the drive needs more than 8Go of free capacity so take a 32Go or more and you'll be fine. Don't forget that you will have to format it, so don't have anything valuable on the USB stick.
  
• Second and most importantly, the USB drive must be formatted in NTFS! Before installing the Boot system from Windows 11 from the page (the second on the list) the technician explained that FAT32 (that is picked by default) is compatible with MAC but definitely creates broken installers for PC .... something people would have certainly liked to know before, right? So NTFS before downloading the Boot on the USB guys, that's super important!!!
  

I wouldn't have had to go through all the shenanigans of recreating the ISO with Rufus and all, if I had known earlier that the install kept failing because of this.

• People say that Port USB 3.0 can also be faulty and in this case you may want to try your other USB ports, especially go into a 2.0. In my case I only had 3.0 and 3.1 Ports so it wasn't the issue here.
  
• After successfully using the USB key to install the Boot of Win 11, the installer this time went through the "enter Product Key" page. Something that wasn't appearing before. However, once the key was entered (or used the button "I don't have a Product Key" ) then the request for drivers reappeared anyway...
  
• Suggestion from the technician: In order to find the driver that you need, look into the MOTHERBOARD manufacturer (in this case ASUS) and not the HARDDRIVE manufacturer (In my case Samsung)! Turns out, he was right!
  

Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI are actually going to have the correct Intel Storage ... driver (ISRT) adapted to their motherboard while trying to get the right driver directly at Samsung proved completely impossible !! So much time wasted !!

• Put the updated driver on a separate USB, with eventually a WIFI or LAN driver (the installer will ask you later to connect to the internet, so you may need the drivers) and keep it ready for the moment it asks you for the drivers.
  
• When the installer ask you for the driver, click on Browse and then select the USB folder that contain the driver exe. just click on it and you should see the various partitions of your harddrive appear in the box.
  

The question of creating the proper partition is something else... It turned out that I also created a partition that was incompatible with the installation (something related to MRB and not EFI or I don't know what....) but the system allowed me to delete the partition, then click on the "New" button. Magic, the installer created directly the partitions it needed...
However, remember that if you want separate partitions for installing Windows and installing your data, you will need to make sure to allocate different values than the max Go taken by default. Otherwise, the all disk will be the partition of windows.
Then choose your Drive proper partition (you will see below an error message if the partition is not the right one with the proper format that windows needs. It will tell you that it cannot install here) and continue the install.

• If you have a WIFI card like me, I found this help online to allow the installer to find the available networks:

Press SHIFT + F10 to open the command console. Enter the following command: C:\Windows\explorer.exe & exit
It will automatically find the available Wifi networks and you can pick the right one to connect to internet and finalize the installation!

Hi, I am setting up a few generation old Dell server for my Colo box. I want to have the idrac interface available in case my server has problems outside of truenas scale. My colo only gives me one network handoff with a /30 and then routes /29 to me. I am running opnsense on the box for firewalling. I was thinking of giving the idrac port a ipv6 address as I have a /64 on the outside of the firewall and a /56 on the inside. The problem is how do I secure the idrac. Talking to the Colo vendor have via their customer management portal that I can null route any /128 so that should enable me to block and unblock idrac as needed. I was hoping to have it open all of the time via an ip behind the firewall but it seems like idrac can only be configured on a single nic at a time. Is that correct? Any ideas on other ways to get me easy idrac access securely? Thanks

Hi, I wanted some inputs and guidance on this problem that I have with my 3v2.
I have had this printer for over 4 years now and I haven't used it at all in the last 2 years. It's just been lying in on corner gathering dust. So I decided to dismantle it, clean it up and assemble it with some new parts.
I had a BigTreeTech SKR Mini E3 v2 mainboard and also a BTT TFT 3.5 v3
I also ordered a Creality Dual Z axis upgrade.
Since the BTT SKR Mini e3 v2 is a drop in replacement, I more or less did everything properly including the power connectors. I also moved the part cooling fan connector to the right port as per various videos that I saw.
Anyway, once I set everything up, I tried powering on the printer and few things happend.

1. The stock Ender 3v2 display kept beeping continuously. I turned it off after 5s.
2. I unplugged the display, and turned it on for about 10s. This time there was white-ish smoke coming from the hotend shroud. The hotend fan wasn't running and the smoke was just flowing out (not being blown out). I was wondering if the hot end was burning something up (but I had just powered on the printer)
3. I opened up the shroud and exposed the hot end and turned it back on. There was some smoke from the fan area (inside the shroud). I can't be certain if it was the hot end fan or the part fan. Ideally the part fan wouldn't have been turned on (since I hadn't started printing anything yet), so I suspect it might be the hot end fan. Also the hot end fan wasn't running.
4. I suspect the polarity of the HE fan was reversed. But, I have directly wired the mainboard fan and the HE fan to the 24v output (via a parallel connection). I could hear the mainboard fan running, so how come the HE fan might have reverse polarity?

Any idea if I did something wrong with the BTT board? I didn't add any fuses that was provided in the box. I think they were all only for sensorless homing, so I didn't insert any of them. There was one jumper already set next to the display port. Was there something else that I needed to have done?
The other thing is the 3.5 TFT. Since the stock E3v2 display / controller didn't work, I plugged in the 3.5 TFT v3. I plugged in both the touch and dial cables. However when I turned it on, the LCD lit up, but there was no display. Nothing was showing up. I wonder if I connected the right port on the TFT (I think I used EXP1, but I think I read elsewhere that SKR E3 can be connected to EXP3).
Was that it, or am I supposed to flash any firmware on the LCD and on the board before getting started?
For now, I am just wondering what to do with the hot end fan. How do I unblock myself? Should I get a new fan and wire it up I wonder.
Any ideas? Any gotchas with the SKR Mini E3 v2 + BTT TFT 3.5 v3?

Why i am bothering to make this post: the screen is cracked on my hand-me-down S8 and the touch has been failing near the top of the phone so my janky workaround for play/pause of music does not work as the part of the screen i need to press does not work (sometimes it works)
Why cheap phone? cause if a $200 from 10 year old phone has the performance i need i see no reason to waste money on something expensive that is designed to be replaced in a year or so
On another site i was suggested a Xiaomi Redmi 13C, but that was the only reply and i do not know if it would even be in English out of the box and i do not understand how carrier compatibility works

I am trying to access an old wallet I have saved to a computer but cannot do so until I load the whole blockchain onto an external drive I have. I am intending to run a full node as I previously did several years ago on this computer. No matter what I do, I cannot connect to any peers and am left with the message, "connecting to peers." I have tried port forwarding, unblocking the port in my firewall, and manually connecting to other nodes in the config menu where I get simply the response "null." I use several hosting providers and was looking for best bang for the buck for a US providers with decent tech support response and Vultr fit the bill as the YABS benchmark scores for their VPS was fantastic for CPU, Disk I/O and Network.
Migrated a couple websites and as usually forgot that nowadays all the hosting providers are blocking port 25 so their IPs don't get blacklisted by spammers.
Vultr had this application form that I felt like I was applying to adopt a child!
I ran a custom coded CRM for a small business. 15 employees that has field workers and the app generates a lot of status emails between the workers and customers. Close to 10K emails a month which compared to a spam mail list of 100K+ emails, is nothing. I made the mistake I guess of telling them my email volume was 10K or less and/or that it was a field worker task management app I was hosting, not sure which because they DENIED me.

Not good in an emergency situation. My server became inaccessible to the Internet. After a 10 minute wait they asked me to execute a dhclient command which fixed the problem. When asked what the cause was they said go examine your system logs and gave me info how to statically set the IP. THIS DOESN'T GIVE ME A CONFIDENT FEELING for hosting an important production application.
So after only 5 days on their VPS, I'm thinking of dumping them due to the ridiculous pushback on the port 25 unblock and the random dropped IP incident coupled with the arduous support process.

I'd like to invite you to a new series in which I'll show you how the new government is (or isn't) going about repairing the post-PiS state. And, probably more importantly for many of you, how it is going about improving the state after PiS. This is the first episode in the series, so it covers both January and December.

Abortion

So far, not much has been done. That is, the Left) has presented its bills to decriminalise abortion assistance and to legalise abortion itself. The Civic Coalition) has also tabled its bill to legalise abortion, also up to 12 weeks (longer in the case of life-threatening or fatal fetal defects). The difference between the two bills is that KO defines this as "severe and irreversible fetal defects" and the Left as "developmental abnormalities of the fetus". Tusk also said that there would be no vote before the local elections. If a woman dies in hospital at that time because doctors save the fetus instead of her, it will be Tusk's fault. Since it is still a long way from a bill to a law, I will not mark this sector as "pending". Let's wait for the votes.

Education

The same KO bill also includes the "introduction into the school curriculum of knowledge about human sexuality, reproductive health care and the principles of informed parenthood" in schools. Nothing has happened. Speaking for myself, I know that there is a sort of audit going on in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage) that will account for all those famous grants to conservative and nationalist foundations, parishes and church entities. It must take time (because there are a lot of them), so it does. If the political will is not lacking, in a few months these activities raise the percentage a bit. For now, it's 100% unchanged and we wait.

I marked unbiased public media as pending. For the time being, TVP is not in line with the western standard, but it is much closer to it than it was a few months ago. The '19.30' viewers are no longer fed hatred of sexual minorities or any political party, the airtime is divided more or less proportionally to the size of the parties concerned. However, in the new TVP, we will not hear anything about the legal doubts about its takeover (which is still kind of understandable). The most difficult category. For the time being, I cannot mark anything, not even as pending, although measures are being taken. Foreign Affairs

I can't mark respecting the judgments of the ECJ and the ECHR because, although the new government is doing so verbally, no action has yet been taken. To be clear, they have not been taken mainly because they involve the need for profound changes in the judiciary, i.e. in the areas I have put in the rule of law category. The difficulty of restoring order there is the cause of the difficulty of implementing the judgments of the European courts. As pending, I have marked the release of funds from the NRP and the Cohesion Fund. I may be over-emphasising this because (for the same reasons as above) full unblocking may only be possible after major legislative changes, which have not yet taken place. Nevertheless, some funds have been unblocked, and the EC's dialogue with Poland gives hope that the EU will "understand the difficulties" and unblock a little more for a nice smile. That would be nice, because we are talking about more than 600 billion zlotys. One of these difficulties is Duda, who has already announced that he won't even agree to the review of judges, which is a very mild form of repairing the Ziobro's damage anyway. I have also marked as pending Poland's credible participation in EU debates. I could have mark it as done, but let's wait and see. On the other hand, with a pure heart, I marked no more anti-Western disinformation from the government as done. Eight years of Putinesque anti-Western propaganda from the Polish state are over. Good. Given the government's rhetoric, this amounts to one thing.

Summary

I have included 93 things to be done. Repairing the damage caused by PiS is 26 of these. At the end of January we had 9 things pending and 3 done. Before anyone starts dooming about this, I would like to reassure and point out a few circumstances. The new government is just getting its ministries up and running. There is always a period of transition. That is one thing. The second is that PiS is actively obstructing them, for example in the case of TVP or the prosecutor's office. Thirdly, we probably don't want laws to be written haphazardly and debated on in a few hours, do we? While some (e.g. abortion) have been ready for a long time and really only need to be voted on, others (especially those that clean up the justice system) need to be well thought out and carefully reworked. This is all the more true for laws that are intended to go further than restoring the status quo of 2014. I'd like to draw attention to the fact that I have made things to be done such as "strengthening the institution of a referendum", "thorough reform, making the ordinary courts realistically independent" or "laws to combat disinformation". These are not things you come up with on Monday to have a law on Friday. Just consulting experts can take a very long time.
So rest assured. It's not that they're 'not doing anything'. Or that they are not doing as much as they should. It's only the first month.

My Girlfriends iPhone was purchased by her ex partner using the apple finance agreement which ends in April this year. She has paid him via direct debit monthly since the contract started so although in his name, she has paid the full amount each month and will continue to do so until it has been fully paid off in April.
She received a notification saying that she could trade in the phone to receive a discount on the next which is great, but every time she goes to proceed it sends a confirmation code to her ex to verify the existing Barclays Bank Loan. She does not speak to her ex, she had blocked him on everything, she unblocked him to see if he would give this over but he has her blocked on everything. I knew both when they were together and since we got together he has been a real ass with messages to us both so I do not want to message him either.
The Phone being under his name has been an issue a few times but this is the only time we would really want to get help with it. We tried looking at how long was left on the finance agreement a little while back but as we are not the person the finance plan was made under, we were not able to do so. We just had a look at when my Girlfriend made the first payment and worked it out from there.
True, first port of call would be to go to Apple themselves, but I'm sure this would be a breach of GDPR for them to pass over this information.

Hello again. I have asked for help a couple of times here (not fulfilled, which is totally fine I'm just saying this just so you don't think I'm trying to milk/exploit this sub or anything). I feel very embarrassed to ask again but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. I'm trying an amazon wishlist this time instead of money in the hopes people will trust it more. The Address is an US address which will forward the item to me (this is how we buy online and receive packages in my country as normal post mail is not super trust-worthy or efficient and can be very slow and lose packages so we used these private companies for that).
I'm trying to get the cheapest portable routemodem I could possible get that needs to have 2 specific features: it needs to be portable/able to hold a SIM CARD (unblocked) AND simultaneously have an Ethernet/LAN port or access. I need this to be able to continue working and getting better.
The one on the list is the cheapest one I could find, but if anyone can find a cheaper one I'd be more than happy to edit the list.
The reason it needs to be portable/able to hold a sim card is because I'm unable to get an internet contract or fixed service at the moment so you can add small prepaid internet packages to these sim based routers that you can't to others (I have requested assistance for that, too at times).
Context (because I don't expect anyone to necessarily have seen and/or remember my posts):I've been having the worst time for months, went homeless more than once, and have struggled a lot with the basics. I've gotten a bunch loans to slowly get out of that rut. Things are finally a little better and starting to come together. I'm trying to work as much as I can. That being said I had to move out of the city last time I got homeless because I couldn't get the money to move/rent an apartment and I'm living yet at another hotel.
I got a portable router that I got through a loan but it doesn't have an ethernet port, I have to use it either as WIFI (but my laptop's Network adapter doesn't work) or through an usb cable (less than ideal) for which I had to buy an USB adapter since my PC only has two ports which are already used for headsets and mouse (touchpad is broken and inconvenient). I'm having extreme internet issues which get in the way of my work. Sometimes it works well but it's not reliable, the usb cable disconnects often and so on.
P.D./edit: forgot to add that I've been trying to find such a router everywhere in my country and no one has them, because apparently it would damage the fixed internet service business for big companies, which only sell non ethernet portable routers. I'm still asking all stores though.

Eloken awoke, his head thundering as if it were a drum beaten by the gods themselves, each pulse seemed to orbit around his skull. With age, the aftermath of his nights out had evolved into a more punishing ordeal, each hungover morning feeling as though he'd been stampeded in the furious charge of a great buffalo. The reckless mixing of ale, wine, and schnaps from the night before wove a particularly vicious punishment this time.
Before he got up from his bed, Eloken reached for the Vit from his reserves, administering just a fraction of it from the reserves, and cast a small healing spell to dispel his hangover. As the spell took effect, his vision cleared, and the pounding in his head ceased immediately. He felt rejuvenated as he had slept for five days straight on the cloud. A smile flickered across his face before the memory of last night's encounter with the old woman crept in. That encountered rendered him powerless for a brief moment and that sliver of vulnerability wedged a subtle unease back into his thoughts.
Heaving himself from the bed, Eloken cast a glance toward Dalamir's, expecting to find his friend incapacitated from the heavy drinking. Yet, the bed lay empty, with no sight of Dalamir. Moments later, the door swung open, and Dalamir entered, bearing two mugs from which steam gently curled.
"Aha, the dead stir," Dalamir quipped, offering one of the steaming cups. "Try this tea; They said it puts our coffee to shame."
"Loas tea," Eloken noted, accepting the mug and taking an immediate, appreciative sip. "A preferred morning ritual here," he added with a nod, enjoying another sip.
"By the way how are you standing and in such a good mood if I may notice?" Eloken asked, marveling at Dalamir's ability to avoid hangovers.

With a nonchalant shrug, Dalamir took another sip of the tea, the taste was too sweet for his taste, he preferred his coffee without any sweeteners. They left their room in search of Yaub and Zoras who were next door. Yaub answered and told them they would meet at the breakfast in ten minutes.
Dalamir and Eloken walked down to the restaurant where there were no clues of last night’s party, the maids had worked their magic in the time they were asleep. They found a secluded table for four and went to check the rich buffet that the Drunken Dragon Inn had to offer. Eloken preferred a strong breakfast after the nights out, he did cure his hangover with the Vis, but some habits never left.
Ten minutes on the clock Yaub and Zoras joined them at the table, “Can you cure my headache?” Zoras asked Eloken.
“I wish I could,” Eloken said with a sorrowful tone.
Some of the people who could channel magic and use Vit powers could dish it to others, normal humans, without any drawbacks. Eloken could only use Vit on himself and heal the wounds on his body. They were still trying to figure out if Eloken could learn to heal others, or if it was something completely different. One of the students at the academy, Irvir, could heal both himself and others.

“What do you want me to do?” Zoras asked.
“You stay with Yaub and help him out,” Eloken said and glanced toward Dalamir, looking at his expression he could see that Dalamir wasn’t happy with his decision but didn’t say anything.
“Fine,” Dalamir muttered with the last bite from his now empty plate.
“I have a meeting with the Moiran council at noon and with few other representatives and we leave by three,” Eloken said. “I’ll take one of our ships and you return home with the other one if I am not back by the end of the festival.” All of them nodded in agreement.
“Good thing I didn’t unpack fully,” Dalamir said with a passive-aggressive tone and Eloken just gave him a small smile.
Before the meeting with the council Eloken had gone to confirm with Haraz that he would be following him into Azarim today, Haraz was already all packed up and ready to leave and they agreed that Haraz would wait for him at the port in Azarim sometime late in the night.
The Island of Moire never had a king or a single ruler in its history, they were governed by a council of thirteen people all history. Thirteen council members were selected each three years from various castes of the society including members from military folk to ordinary citizens and merchants. Each of the council members was the main chairman for one of the months, rotating like that for three years, each of them got to be chairman three times. The chairman didn’t have any executive functions but was the main representative in the meetings with the other nations in that given month, the council still had to vote on the matter before any decision was made.
The council members were closely watched during their mandate and it was not uncommon throughout the history of the island for some of them to get removed from the council before their mandate was up because they were bribed by foreign administrators. So in the recent few years, councils were almost impossible to bribe or nudge to your side.
They resided in one of the oldest buildings in the heart of Thalasyn, only a short walk away from Drunken Dragon Inn. Eloken made his way there navigating the main streets and seeing the aftermath of the festival’s wild night.
In front of the large council building, there were dozens of royal guards, to Eloken’s luck one of them was the commander from the port, Galam. Eloken approached the entrance and two guards crossed their large spears blocking his path before Galam approached.
“State your business foreigner,” He said as if he didn’t recognize Eloken from the day before.
“Hello Mr. Galam, commander of the Royal Guard,” Eloken said formally, but in a condescending voice. “I have a meeting with the council at the noon.”
“Let me check,” Galam said and went inside the building.
Moments later he returned and gestured towards the guards to let him in. “You came here to get for financial aid like most of the foreigners?” Galam asked for Eloken to go in front of him, before he patted him down for hidden weapons.
“Quite the contrary, dear commander,” Eloken said.
The commander just shoot him a look and called for one of the assistants to show Eloken the room the council resided in. He was told to wait before one of the foreign ambassadors, from Elidor, finishes his meeting and then to walk in. Luckily he didn’t have to wait long before an ambassador from Elidor in their recognizable purplish gowns walked out and nodded in curtsey to him.
Once inside the large room with high ceiling and marbled stone pillars, Eloken took a stand in the middle of the room, where in the ground carved inside the shining tiles was a literal circle.
“State your name and business,” Current chairman of the council said, a dark skinned bald man with a neatly trimmed goatee and a friendly smile that didn’t match his rough tone.
“I am Eloken, founder of the Academy of Magic. But you may know me better by my family name , Thormwol, son of Mythral and Calla” Eloken said channeling his most formal voice. “I come on behalf Isari Kingdom, our King sends his best regards and wishes but unfortunately he could not attend this years festival and this meeting and for that he is truly sorry.”
“Ahh Mythral’s little boy,” One of the older council members chimed in. “You’ve made quite the ruckus on the Continent, we hear.” He said in a shaky voice. “Can’t say we blame you, but still, your reputation precedes you. But if you are a half as man as your father was, we owe it to you to listen to your request, what is it you want on behalf of your kingdom?”
Eloken didn’t like when others mentioned his father, but this man at least had a high opinion of him, so he composed himself and said, “I came here today before you, to offer you my protection in turn for greater trade margins and a large quantity of Titanwood.”
First quite chuckles started, then full on laughter engulfed the large oval room. Council members couldn’t contain themselves over the Eloken’s offer. “Settle down, settle down,” The chairman said.
Finally the laughter died down and the chairman addressed Eloken.
“That’s quite the offer Mister Eloken, but why would we need your protection, the Island of Moire was never conquered and is standing proudly for over two centuries, what protection do we need from you is beyond me?” Chairman said.
“Sorry I never caught your name,” Eloken said catching chairman off guard.
“I don’t see how that’s relevant?” The chairman said. “But it’s Reoryn.”
“Chairman Reoryn,” Eloken continued. “I am guessing you have heard about the appearance of the magic in the past year?” He asked, but then continued without waiting for an answer. “And as most people you are most likely afraid of it, but also slightly curious. I know some people are still denying magic completely, there might be some amongst you, so let me demonstrate it briefly for you.”
Eloken said, and the council members tensed a little bit. Four guards that stood at the door must have interpreted it as a threat as they straightened their weapons and postures. Eloken took few steps to the side, walking close to one of the large marble stones and channeled a quick spell using the Vis that was running thru him. He drew his hand back and in a quick motion he punched the large marble stone and it broke in half.
Shock and awe painted over the council member faces and the four guards that were inside the council room rushed towards him, before yelling for help from the outside. Eloken casted another spell using his Vis source, this time enchanting his speed and in quick fluid motions moving almost four times faster than average human disarmed the four Royal Guards. Before anyone else could enter he dashed towards the large wooden doors and jammed one of the spears in the door handles.
After the initial confusion guards rushed Eloken, he took all four spears from them, but they had their side weapons ready. Eloken renewed his haste spell and disarmed first three guards with ease, using their holsters to tie their hands in the process. He left fourth guard alone before turning to him and spreading his arms wide. The guard swung his machete at Eloken and struck him at between shoulder and neck. A moment of silence took over the large room, but was broken by the sound of shattering machete once it collided with Elokens skin.
In the moment he was jamming the spear into a large door, Eloken had touched the Titanwood the door was made of and using Exo he turned his skin into the tensity of the famous Moiran wood.
Once he tied the last solider he took one of the spears and tossed it with incredible precision hitting an depiction of Dragon right above the council member, who was the previous High Commander of the Royal Guard. All of the council members stood from their chairs unsure if they should run or attack Eloken, fear of the unknown painted over their faces.
Eloken rose his hands above his head in surrender motion. “Calm down and sit. If I wanted to hurt you I would have already done that.” He said in his calmest possible voice trying to deescalate the situation. “This was just a quick demonstration so we don’t waste time before you start taking me serious.”
“You can’t just attack us like this and expect for us to listen to you,” Reoryn said. “We don’t react well to threats.”
“Chairman Reoryn, as I said this is not an attack, but rather a quick demonstration.” Eloken said, smugness breaking through his voice. “I just disarmed four of your Royal Guard’s in the middle of your city and took thirteen of you hostages without breaking a sweat, so just listen to me I mean you no harm, if we can’t reach an agreement, we can’t so be it.”
Reoryn sat down and gave Eloken the podium. “The times are changing and you should with them. Your Island stood proudly for almost two centuries because of your policies and rigorous controls, but I just passed all those controls and here I am. Yes we turned our weapons away, but you didn’t count on one thing, I am the weapon now.” Eloken said with a devious smile, proud of the way council members were watching him in awe, shock and terror all at the same time.
“And I brought eight of my students with me, who are not as proficient as I am yet, but they can do damage on their own.” Eloken continued addressing the council, looking at each of their expressions trying to gouge what they felt. “So your ways won’t work for to long, as more and more people are starting to get touched by one of the sources and we all know you can’t completely shut off your island to the visitors. Even if you do I believe that your cliffs won’t hold off the people for much longer. There are already individuals that can jump as high as those cliffs already, possibly even shatter them.” Eloken spoke gesturing with his hands along the way.
“Now don’t get me wrong, and I hope I make my self clear enough, I do not threaten you and nor will I or Isari empire ever invade you. I have too much respect for you because of everything my father ever spoke about your island and there is too much history between our two people to even consider that.” Eloken now spoke in a slower pace and more friendly tone.
“So what are you saying?” The older council member said.
“I am guessing as most of the mainland, you still don’t know much about magic, do you?” Eloken asked.
The council members shook their hands up and down, “Right, so I am willing to share all of the information we already have on it and the things we learn along the way. We are still far away from understanding it fully, I believe we barely scratches the surface, but I have almost five years head start compared to almost everyone.” Eloken continued his monologue.
“Hmm,” Reoryn started relaxing a little bit as Eloken slowly deescalated the room. ”That’s something we might be interested in.” Rest of the council nodded in agreement, but before Eloken could continue the former High Commander of Royal Guard spoke.
“I would be lying if I said that was not one of our concerns,” The man said in a straight military voice. “But what you are offering doesn’t seem nearly enough.”
“Of course it’s not,” Eloken said in agreement. “That’s just the surface to ease you into the conversation. What I had in mind was that I would take on all of your gifted people and be willing to accept them into my academy where we would teach team everything we can. But, for each two Moiran's we teach we get to keep one for us, and we return one to you.” The council didn’t like the last part so Eloken continued right away.
“There are much larger things at play in our world, that I can not discuss with you or anyone else at the moment. But don’t worry, before we teach enough of your people we would send you reinforcements of our best to keep you company and safe. Also, if any fool would be crazy enough to try and invade you we would all come to your aid right away.” Eloken continued and saw the former High Commander liked what he was offering.
“I said I have too much respect and admiration for the Moiran’s to let anyone attack you even if we don’t strick the deal, but with the deal no one would be crazy to look at you side ways, magic or no magic.” Eloken finished his pitch.
He untied the guards he humiliated earlier and unblocked the door. Galam and reinforcements rushed right in and charged him. Eloken didn’t resist but before they reached him, former High Commander Fopit dismissed them all from the hall.
Eloken came prepared and gave them a document of what exactly he wanted to get in return with this alliance and what he would be offering. The council asked for half an hour to go over the deal before they formally voted for it. Eloken spent the time in front of the hall where he was shot unpleasant looks from Galam and the Royal Guard before he was called back in.
“We’ve reached the agreement Mister Eloken,” Reoryn said. “We would like to sign this deal, with slight changes here and there.” Reoryn continued and went over the changed they wanted to make.
Few higher prices, few lower quantities, but nothing that didn’t work for Eloken. “That works for me,” Eloken said with a friendliest smile he could muster.
Few minutes after an assistant came with a drafted contract that Eloken and Reoryn signed after going over it one more time. Eloken shook hands with each of the members and thanked them in Moiran way, a slight tilt of the head to the left with the left hand touching the temple of the head.
“Welcome to the Coalition of the Willing,” Eloken said after he finished shaking hands with all thirteen members. “You are our first, but I would say the most important member.”
Before Eloken could leave council member Fopit pulled him to side. “Do you mind if we talk in private?” He asked.
“Of course not,” Eloken said looking up at the large man. Now that he wasn’t behind the desk Fopit towered over Eloken with both height and width.
They left the council building, on their way out Galam shot Eloken the dirtiest look he could, if looks could kill that would be the one for sure, Eloken thought to himself. Once they were safe distance away Fopit spoke.
“If you didn’t offer this now,” He started. “I would have came looking for you. You see, my son, started acting weird lately and completely shut himself in, I barely got through to him few weeks ago and he admitted he started to gain some extraordinary abelites.” Fopit said in a hush tone.
“He can reach one of the sources,” Eloken said. “What can he do?”
“He cut himself in front of me then concentrated hard and the cut healed almost imidiately,” General said with a mix of worry and fear in his eyes.
“He can reach Vit,” Eloken said. “That’s always good and welcome.”
“That’s how you call it? Vit?” He asked, but continued before Eloken could answer. “I wanted to ask you to take him into your academy, he is a good boy, but he is scared. You must know how religion looks on the appearance of magic?” He asked.
“Yeah, they don’t seem to like it at all,” Eloken said.
“Well his mother is devoted follower of Church of Moire, and well to put it lightly, they think you are all devils spawns.” Fopit said trying not to sound disrespectful. “And so are most of our close friends and family, that’s why he shut himself down and why he is still hiding his abilities.” He said with a pleading expression.
“Don’t worry about it,” Eloken said. “We will take him in with open arms, tell him to be at the Drunken Dragon Inn in two hours I will introduce him with the team and explain everything to him. Unfortunately I have to leave for Azarim tonight, but he can go to the Academy with one of our ships later this week.”
Fopit nodded in appreciation and shook Eloken’s hand before they parted ways. Eloken used some of the remaining free time to run few errands around the Thalasyn and to visit a house where he and his family lived on the Island. Looking at the house a flash of loving memories appeared in his mind, but were swept by anger, saddens and sorrow quickly. Getting revenge for them a year ago only eased the pain a little bit, three of them were still gone.
After his former house, he went straight to the Drunken Dragon Inn, where he packed his things before he met with the crew at one of the Inn’s private rooms. Cel was there before anyone else came, sitting at the furthest table away from the door playing with the fruit bowl on the table. As soon as Eloken came, rest of the team followed and moments later Fabrisos brought a young shy-looking boy, who introduced himself as Wrion Tarrop, son of Fopit.
Eloken introduced Cel and Fopit to the rest of the crew and students. Wrion shook everyone’s hand with reserve, while Cel did it with upmost confidence making each hand shake a little bit too long while maintaining eye contact.
“As you might have heard I have to leave for Azarim after this meeting,” Eloken started. “Dalamir will be coming with me and while we are gone Yaub is in charge, if he is not there you have Zoras.” Students nodded in understanding.
“I want you Lorian, Utran, Bastian, Nylla and Kaelena with me to Azarim I might need your help.” He said and they nodded and Eloken saw a little pride in their look that they were selected.
Before leaving he pulled three of his friend off to the side, “Look, the deal we went through, we are in official alliance with the Island of Moire.” Eloken said proudly.
“That’s fucking great,” Dalamir said unable to hide his enthusiasm.
“Good work boss,” Yaub said and Zoras joined in the praise.
“That little boy there, is sone of one of the council members and former High Commander of their Royal Guard,” Eloken continued. “He is a little bit shy and scared of his powers, so please take it easy on him, and watch out our students don’t bother him too much.”
“You got it,” Yaub said. “And what about the girl.”
“That one is special,” Eloken said. “She has the ability to reach at least three sources as far as I could saw in a short interaction I had with her. But there is something else about her, I don’t know.” Eloken said with a distant look. “She wants to go to the academy, so make sure she is on that ship when you lave if we are not back by then.”
“Of course,” Yaub said.
“Pack your things and meet me in port in one hour those who are leaving with me.” Eloken yelled so everyone could hear him. “Rest of you enjoy the festival and make us look good at the showcase.”

Vuze shit itself for me because I run too many torrents and something happened where (despite ports being unblocked) it would DL for 10 seconds, stop for 30 seconds, repeat for 3 hours.
I moved to qBittorent and although the settings aren't as advanced as Vuze, I prefer it for speeds and handling many torrents at once.
Transmission was utter dogshit. I ran it on two separate machines and found out that if you are downloading any torrent with big files (like 4k videos) it absolutely shits itself and will refuse to run. What's even worse is that there are a bunch of reports of this on the forums and the devs have no idea how to fix it and recommend using another program for big torrents.
It's a bit disappointing that P2P seems to have iffy software, where music communities have god tier software like Strawberry Music Player
So, qBittorent is the superior choice all around?
