2024.05.18 22:14 Tomatodipinketchup I (24f) confessing to the guy (29m) who I work with should take the chance?

Hello! To know a bit about me. I was in a 3 year relationship with my ex and how it’s been 2 years since the break up. I’m a shy person and when it comes to love, I chicken out and it’s totally normal I guess? I’ve developed feelings for a coworker of mine (29m) at my store and now he’s leaving to a different location. Now I want to confess and ask him out. Both of us are introverts and I want to be the first to make that step. Should I?
I (F24) been working at my job almost 2 years. Last year we got a new asm at our store, we didn’t know much about him until we all started to open up. Me being the person I am always kept to myself and sometimes spoke to him. The one thing about me is I’m shy but will be an open book to those once they get to know me. He (M29)is a hard worker and along the way helped me with events that I participated in. I learned who he is as a person who works in the company and outside of work. What his views are/his family/friends/college. I made it to the point where I baked for him and complimented how he hasn’t had anything this good and similar since his trip from his country. I admire his intelligence and ambition and independence and I’m heads over heels, and I haven’t felt this way for such a time. He’s a sweet guy but, I’m not sure how I would approach him.
Now I just got hired to become a shift in a different location and am grateful he believed in me and wanted me to go for it. He’s helped me so much during the time, we also went out to taste some things for one of the events I participated in. Gone out to help me practice for the interview I got the position in (we got dinner). He’s been really supportive and helpful me calm down in these events since he knows I have some anxiety and confidence issues but after everything he notices and compliments me on my changes and is happy for me. Now I just found out he’s leaving tomorrow. I always told myself that I will tell him how I feel once he leaves, but lol it’s both of us. My coworker encourages me to do so, since you never know what can happen. I haven’t felt this away since my past relationship and tomorrow is my only chance. I read the rules and policy’s about work“relationships” but the difference is we are both leaving one store and going to different stores to work at. Relationships in the same store isn’t allowed but now we are going our separate ways and this is my chance now. I may not know how he feels but is it worth a shot? Has anyone had experience in this? How did it work out? Would this be good way for me taking the first step? I’m thinking about “Asking him out “ or “Hang out” there’s different meanings behind the message. I’m nervous for tomorrow, I don’t really do this. What would a guy in his late 20s think about a woman asking him out or hanging out mean to him? Would he feel flattered?
Now that everything is coming to an end I don’t have to hide anymore when or if I say it. I’m curious to know if he takes an interest to me after working together. Does it seem too soon for me? Or no? Should I go for it and see what happens. I want to know what you guys think or have had any experience? I’m scared to text him since I don’t want too seem to off or desperate.

FNAF 2 Movie release delayed!? FNAF Theory Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Movie
If you don’t want to read all of this you can watch it here:
https://youtu.be/eBJ\_6KzYpHk
https://preview.redd.it/nchtu8lzr81d1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=521794fa328edc9158680a77d6dd0de02f7cdc76
Hello Fnafers! The Spring has come and so did the FNAF 2 Movie news!
And it seems like the FNAF 2 movie just got delayed! But don’t worry! (yet) Cause for now it has only been moved from Fall 2025 to December 5, 2025 which is early winter!
But let’s go into more detail and in addition talk about some other instagram photos and videos posted by Mathew Lillard and the FNAF Movie’s official accounts!
First things first, let’s cover everything said about the FNAF 2 Movie in an article from “Variety”:
“‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Sets December 2025 Release, ‘M3GAN 2.0’ and ‘Black Phone 2’ Also Get New Dates”
“Freddy Fazbear will return to haunt multiplexes in 2025.
Universal and Blumhouse’s “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” a horror sequel set in the haunted Chuck E. Cheese-esque establishment known as Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, will land in theaters on Dec. 5, 2025.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s,” adapted from the popular video game, made a killing at the box office last October with $297 million globally and became Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film of all time — all while streaming simultaneously on Peacock. Josh Hutcherson starred in the original as a nighttime security guard at Freddys Fazbear’s Pizza, where the animatronic mascots are prone to murder. The studio hasn’t clarified who is returning for the follow-up, but it did share the new tagline: “Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances.””
Now this is an interesting thing to say about the FNAF 2 movie, and there are a few things this could mean, one option is that the animatronics will be much more dangerous in the second movie than the first, perhaps even more violent to satisfy some fans. Or maybe they are hinting at someone out of the main characters dying, but if so I don’t think that it would be Mike, Abby or even Vannesa cause they all almost died last time, and it doesn’t really make sense to kill one of them in the second movie right after they barely escaped death in the first one, that will just disappoint people and I am sure that Blumhouse knows it. Instead what if we will have Jeremy as one of the main protagonists but then we will see him die or at least be very hurt at the end, perhaps due to the bite of 87 which people theorized happened to him in the games.
Now! Following up this article, Jason Blum tweeted this:
“We are making some pictures!!
'Five Nights At Freddy's 2' Sets Release Date; 'M3GAN' Sequel Pushed”
With a link to another article on Deadline:
Universal Dates ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 2,’ ‘Woman In The Yard’ & ‘Drop’; ‘The Black Phone’, ‘M3GAN’ Sequels Pushed
“Universal Pictures on Thursday announced release dates for three major genre titles, revealing at the same time that two of its most anticipated sequels will shift on the calendar.
Blumhouse‘s thriller The Woman in the Yard has been set to open on Friday, March 28, 2025, with Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse’s Drop debuting on Friday, April 11, 2025 and Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 to scare up box office on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Shattering expectations last fall with a $300M worldwide gross, Five Night at Freddy’s adapts Scott Cawthon’s popular video game franchise of the same name and follows Mike (Josh Hutcherson), a troubled young man who reluctantly takes a job as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, hoping it will help him retain custody of his young sister. That fateful decision instead drags him into the black heart of a supernatural nightmare.
The highest-grossing horror film of 2023, its sequels plot hasn’t been disclosed. Emma Tammi has returned to direct, with Blum and Cawthon returning to produce.”
So yeah, all 3 of them have returned to work on the second movie, but let’s not forget about the man behind the slaughter himself, cause he is trying to not let us forget about him as he has posted on his instagram a photo of him standing in the Spring Bonnie costume with the prop of Scooby Doo. And under the post he said this:
“December 2025. I ALWAYS COME BACK.”
We already knew that he will be back for the second and third movie cause he signed a three picture deal last year. But this seems like him confirming that he will be in the second movie.
Some people have also noticed that the insides of the suits have changed from black to flashy corpse color. This of course could be an updated version for the second movie confirming it to be a sequel… but I will assume that it is actually the same suit we saw at the ending of the first movie, but since it was very dark at the end we could not see the true colors inside.
https://preview.redd.it/ubvnxn6ds81d1.png?width=427&format=png&auto=webp&s=5baf0226ce6fe8bc87d554561147d527dea4c91d
Moving on, the official FNAF Movie account on instagram has posted a reel of the FNAF sign saying “12/5/2025” and under it they said “Clock back in.”
And if you reply to this reel they will actually message you where you will be able to get a new Security badge for 2024 which looks just like the one from last year and a short video of the FNAF 1 movie camera footage.
All you have to do is to say yes to all their questions and give them a photo as well as a video of yourself working at Freddys.
Here is how the footage and the badge looks like:
https://reddit.com/link/1cv63gk/video/x9u761f9s81d1/player
https://preview.redd.it/5bw5prw9s81d1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=383829de38aa62a3626471a30035038d71e61ba0
Then the FNAF 2 movie has been added to Universal's "Upcoming Films" page.
And bloomhouse tweeted “How many times have you rewatched FNAF?” with a gif of the pizza boxes they gave in theaters last year and a sign saying “Let’s eat”.
So yeah, tell me in the comments what do you think of this video, what do you think the FNAF 2 movie will be about.
But for now that’s it!
Check it out here:

And remember!
I always comeback!!!

2024.05.18 22:07 RoyalRatVan Tsukimonogatari Novel Thoughts

Wanted to share some thoughts after finishing this one because I got a few more interesting impressions than I remember from the anime version.
Tell me if you disagree but I believe in the anime at least Tsuki holds the reputation of being one of the weakest arcs overall. Way too much time is spent on fanservice and hijinks to leave time for a satisfying plot of its own to develop, being the main complaint. In the novel this time I can definitely say it has pacing issues, and you can argue also that it covers so little ground, that even tho it was supposed to be Owari right after it, Nisio felt the need to write Koyomi before that instead to set things up better.
However, I think the important thing Tsuki needed to do is not set up whats coming next in the story. Instead it kinda needs to play catch up with Araragi after all the major stuff from second season that we missed his perspective on. This is the first time we really see him brought down a peg and start to get some reflection on his big failures from second season. I especially like him reflecting on feeling like he betrayed Oshino's trust.
The events of the book unfolding in an anticlimactic way are also supposed to reiterate his total impotence and reliance on others. In arcs like Suruga monkey or tsukihi pheonix even tho he gets his ass kicked, the conclusion is still him accomplishing something, but that is also gone here.
Overall I think the book does a better job than I remember from the anime, but it's for sure not as good as its own self-contained story like basically all of second season is. It's just following up on a lot of events and developments, and starting to set up whats next. Let me know your thoughts, anime vs novel version, how well it sets up final season, etc.

2024.05.18 22:07 BunnyChubby66 Applying to Law School: Broke Addition

I don't know if I need advice or if I'm just venting at how distressed I feel about the cost of applying to law school. I want to be a lawyer to improve my quality of life. How am I supposed to even get there if I'm struggling to have money to survive? I don't think I qualify for the LSAC fee waivers because last year I was in a better position financially and my 2023 tax statements show that I made ~$50k. But so much has changed this year. Now I'm bringing in $2,100 a month. Rent is $875, transportation $75, utilities $100, phone $100, tax payment plan $100. Just got hit with a $800 medical bill. I'm hesitant to pick up a second job because I already work a full-time job and I need the bandwidth to study for LSAT not to mention the physical TIME to study.
Is there any way I would still qualify for the fee waivers given my current circumstances?

2024.05.18 22:04 timereturn7366 Securing a job after a postdoc

I have a PhD in Child, Youth and Family studies. I am currently enrolled in my second postdoc. I am eagerly wanting to find a more secure and high-paying job after this postdoc, ideally in industry.
I am finding this job search really challenging because I feel like my background spans different social sciences (psychology, sociology, public health) and I don’t even know which industry I fit into.
I have an interest in healthcare and education in which I could foresee myself doing work related to research or policy analysis. I am also open to government jobs but it seems like they all want 8+ years of experience that I don’t have. This also applies to working for NGOs such as UNICEF, which I find very attractive.
Would contacting recruiters via LinkedIn sound like a feasible first idea to gain a better sense of where my skillset could fit? In addition to networking? I feel like I don’t even know which jobs to look for! Yes, there are options like research associate or writer, consulting or policy analyst but most of the time the jobs are never in a company that is remotely related to child health.
Have any of you with a similar background landed industry positions? What was it like for you? Thank you…

2024.05.18 22:04 rat_skeleton Section 117 aftercare + mh care covering

Hello,
I don't really understand all of this, but I'll do my best to explain
I am entitled to s117 aftercare after being detained under s3 of the mental health act. I was discharged in 2019
Over the past few years I've developed what my gp has said may be a phobia involving healthcare + healthcare professionals. I am now at the point where I am only able to communicate with professionals via email. Due to this I've been told I can't have a psychiatric assessment. I need this assessment as my team (a social worker + a bed manager? I'm not sure what that is) have said I have no mental health needs, but I feel very unwell tbh
Is it possible to sue?
I've been in contact with the ombudsman for the past year or two, but I really can't make sense of what they've been telling me. I have a developmental disability that makes understanding + processing information quite challenging. My last email was asking for an extension to my complaint as it was making me very unwell to have to go over it + I needed a break as I can't get healthcare so I can't deteriorate. No reply yet + that was in March. They keep telling me they can't help me? But I thought that was their job to fix it when your complaints don't sort anything
I'm very unwell at the minute. I need care asap. I'm terrified of being detained again, which I fear is how this is all going to end, so I'm doing everything to set care up before it gets to that point but keep being denied
Is it possible to take this to court? Or would I be better going through the ombudsman? If so, please can I be advised on low of charge or free solicitors or people to help me? I have a bit over 8k in savings, but that is for an assistance dog, so it isn't money I have to spend (the dog is 8k)
Sorry I'll also accept other advice
Please be aware I have gone through all avenues to request care, so I'm not interested in being told how to request care. This has been years of begging for my s117 to be covered or just to get mental healthcare in general. I've already deteriorated so far. Due to my specific circumstances where I do have this excessive unreasonable fear of healthcare professionals I can't access emergency services of any kind, so forcing them to cover my care via s117 seems to be my only option?
I don't care to win money bc that would cause me to lose my benefits + it's a system that's very hard to get into, so I don't want to have to live off my winnings only to try to reapply when they run out. I need care. Even if the money is for private care I'd still lose my benefits to win it so either it'd all go to the solicitor or I'd not want to get money at all
I'm also looking into a power of attorney to manage this as a possibility, but I don't understand how that works either + I don't have trusted family members to manage my money. I manage my money at the minute as my family member left me with no money for food when they managed it as they took it all
Thank you very much (:
It is Milton Keynes Council responsible for my care, so whatever board they now fall under?
I've talked to citizens advice but they're not very familiar with s117 so I don't think it is good to contact them again? It's been twice now + I don't know. It could just be that I'm not understanding this all due to my disability. Which is why I'm also looking for a poa bc I don't really understand this. I don't have safe people to manage this for me

2024.05.18 22:02 dungeons_and_dimwits [Online][5e][18+][NA/Europe] Experienced writer and forever DM with dark fantasy warrior witch seeks good home!

(As far as scheduling goes, I'm US west coast mostly working nights, so that means I’m good midday relative to North American times and evenings relative to Europe. In addition, Mondays, Wednesdays, and evenings Friday are entirely free for me!)
This might be a really good fit for your campaign if many (not necessarily all) of the following are true:
So, this comes from a story I imagine many roleplayers are familiar with: put my heart into fleshing out a character, their themes and personality… and, campaign dies in its infancy. But while I hardly had a chance to play her, this concept is something I’d really want a chance to run! To be very clear, the specifics of her character are something I want to tie into your setting and story - the basic themes of the concept remain, but I want to immerse myself and be a real part of your world! As for what I have in mind, feel free to give this a read: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1s07dPj3m42bqCFecXI0qW8JvjmMQKPhIb_wck_MEFSI/edit
I’m something of a forever DM with years of experience, and I always try to be the player for your group that I would love in mine. I am a queer individual, and I find it very important generally that everybody at the table is comfortable and on the same page. I adore unique homebrew lore and the passion put into unique settings; I’ll read everything you give me, both to immerse myself in your world and steal it for my own! My writing usually puts a special focus on the “human” elements of a story; the people, their lives, cultures, relationships, and motivations - and the conflict between them. My biggest payoff from the game is definitely the storytelling aspect. I absolutely love a well-roleplayed plot arc or a dramatic confrontation!
I think this has gone on plenty long enough, so thank you for your interest if you’ve made it this far! If you have any questions or ideas, or just feel like randomly interrogating me, let me know and we can chat here or move to Discord.

2024.05.18 22:00 CryptographerNo9548 Did you all go to uni?

I am 17 in college A levels and failing miserably I chose cs even though I studied 3 years of pure sciences in olevel , physics, biology, chemistry. I don't know why but in Alevels I took CS I am not interested in either Medical or computer science, I want to study business but it's too late now but I can self study on business myself. I am stressed about the grades even though my parents don't pressure me at all , should I just skip uni and take a year off for doing stuff and learning about business (Alhamdulillah we are doing very good financially so no pressure about getting a job or stuff) I thought of a degree as a back up but I might rely on it if I do it which is fine for someone who likes it but I hate this stuff it makes my brain hurt . If you don't have a degree how is your life going and if you are comfortable how are you doing financially

2024.05.18 22:00 Prize-Dimension7089 How to feel secure while dating

I haven’t been on the dating seen for over a year. A little bit about my self (21/f) have had bad experiences in relationships and tend to not date nor give anyone the time of day. I don’t use dating apps because I hope to meet my partner organically. I met this guy (22/m) by bonding over computer parts. He was cute and we have been chatting and meeting up for weeks. We bonded over gaming and tv shows and it’s always a good time when I’m around him. We talked about how we feel when it comes to perusing a relationship and we both agreed it’s something we want specifically a long term commitment. However this week I noticed his consistency changed and the effort is seeming to be just me. (I am texting first). I understand people are busy (he works two jobs and is a full time student) and different people different priorities. I feel very insecure because it makes me feel as if he is loosing interest. I’ve communicated with him that if he does not feel the same way to let me know. I’m insecure and afraid of being ghosted as well because there is no closure. It’s easy for me to feel afraid/anxious when it comes to heart break. I want to know tips and tricks to help me feel secure since I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I also know that sooner or later if the issue persists that the relationship is not for me.

2024.05.18 21:56 CristianR_ Games to play in short bursts

Like many of us, I'm an adult that works a full time job and most days I only get 30-60 minutes to play. Normally I play 2 games at a time, 1 story game and 1 sports game. As an example I'd play Elden Ring when I had a lot of time and I'd play NHL/FIFA when I only had a few mins. On PS5 currently.
I've started losing interest in sports games and am now looking for something similar to fill the void when I dont have much time. Some things that come to mind are Stardew Valley, Rocket League, TOTK.
Any recommendations are appreciated. I do have a gaming PC but prefer playing on PS5 or Nintendo Switch. Thanks for any help!!!!

2024.05.18 21:55 therealdocturner Shriveled

Blake was listening to his sister through his headphones while she ripped into him about his hopeless addiction to pornography. He rolled his eyes as she went on and on about his sexist attitudes and his distorted views on women and sex. If his sister had only known that he was scrolling through explicitly drawn versions of Marge Simpson and Lois Griffin in various poses with various props, she would have hung up the phone and given up.
As far as Blake was concerned there were no distortions in his mind about women. He had lived through so many interactions and had seen so many videos of women being terrible people that it only reinforced his bias.
Porn didn’t judge Blake. Porn didn’t make Blake do things that he didn’t want to do. He spent time with women the way he wanted to. If he wanted a woman to act a certain way, he could find a video where she did just that.
The way he saw it, women wanted a lot, and if they didn’t get what they wanted, they made everyone’s life hell until they did. Conversely, if a man wanted something, it was tough luck. He watched his mother treat his father like that until the day he died, overworked and unhappy.
Less than a year after his mother put his father in the ground, she was with someone else that she was all too happy to control. Porn gave Blake the control, and he liked it.
“Blake, I love you, but you’re going to waste your whole life in front of a screen holding your dick.”
“Don’t you have another kid that you should be working on squirting out?”
She hung up.

Blake was caught watching videos at work again, but this time he had a plan. He knew eventually that he would be caught, but after losing three jobs for the very same reason, he hatched a simple way of ensuring that he wouldn’t lose out on any money, and be able to stick it to the boss and company he hated for no other reason than employing him.
Blake was called into his manager’s office, but before anything could be said, Blake blurted out that he needed to take mental leave. He sobbed in front of his manager while he said that the job was giving him thoughts of hopelessness and self harm, but he was smiling on the inside. He was talking just loud enough for a few people outside of the office to hear him.
His manager's face was red.
“Cornered you, bitch.” Blake thought to himself. “Good luck firing someone who’s crying out for mental help.”
Blake figured that he’d be able to stretch this out for at least a month. A month of paid time off doing what he loved.

“It’s my phone!” he muttered to himself as he rode the elevator down to his new found freedom. “If people have a problem with the things I’m looking at, perhaps they shouldn’t be looking over my shoulder and mind their own fucking business.”
He didn’t mind the other people in the elevator, or their awkward expressions. They didn’t matter to him. No one really did.

Still on a high from manipulating his boss into a corner, Blake decided to do something new on the bus ride to his apartment building. He clicked on a video. He wasn’t exactly watching the video, rather he was watching people’s reactions out of the corners of his eyes.
He kept the volume low, but up just enough so the moaning could be heard.
At first, people around him were wondering if they were actually hearing what they thought they were hearing.
He was trying not to laugh at their reactions. People began to move to other seats, and soon enough, everyone was giving him disgusted looks.
“Fuck em.” he whispered.
He noticed one man sitting in the back of the bus who was giving him quite a different look than everyone else. The man was well dressed. Perfect hair. Perfect teeth.
He was smiling at Blake.
Blake, a self admitted and overly enthusiastic homophobe, turned off the video. He began to worry that he had attracted the wrong kind of attention.

Blake was all too eager to get out of the bus and hurry towards the doors to his building. He heard a voice behind him that caused him to catch a breath and lose his forward progress. He turned around. It was the beautiful man from the back of the bus.
“Excuse me! I’d like to have a word!”
Blake found his voice hypnotic, and his stride was elegant, almost like he was floating just above the cracked and cruddy sidewalk.
“I uh… couldn’t help but notice what you were doing on the bus young man. I think I have something you might be interested in.”
Blake was lost in that voice. He had never been attracted to another man, but he was feeling things inside himself that he’d never felt before, and he hated himself for it. After a long awkward silence, Blake finally found his voice.
“Look buddy, take your pixy dust and bother someone else. You’re not my type.”
“Oh, you’re definitely my type.” The beautiful man laughed and handed him a plain white business card with nothing but a web address on it. “In so many different ways, you’re exactly my type.”
“What is this?”
“It’s my business, Kid. You want videos you can’t tear yourself away from? Trust me. It’s the newest thing.”
He winked at Blake and walked away.
-
Blake was staring at his screen while he was riding in the elevator. There was a paywall. A dollar for the first month, then a hundred dollars a month after that.
No screenshots or thumbnails, just a form for a credit card. As the doors opened to his floor, he put his phone in his pocket and decided against any further investigation. He was sure that it was a scam of some kind.

Until ten o’clock that night, Blake engaged in his normal activities with one new addition he had begun almost two weeks prior. He built two shelves in front of two different air vents in his apartment, and he had placed speakers on the shelves. The tenants in his building got to experience all of the auditory pleasures of the thrusting and jiggling and smacking that he was watching.
Blake made sure he followed the rules, and nothing came out of those speakers after ten p.m., but it was fair game until that time.
He would laugh to himself thinking about the tenants having to listen. He wasn’t sure how far the sound traveled through the vents, but he figured that most people on his floor were getting a good chunk of it.
That night though, his usual joyful time in front of his phone, his 70 inch television, and his newly discovered fondness for Cerave was marred by the thought of something unique and dangerous out there that he hadn’t seen.
After several attempts at a satisfactory denouement in his masturbatory madness, Blake finally gave up, raised the white flag on its limp post, and went to bed.

Blake kept hearing the man’s siren-like voice in his head while he tried to sleep. After almost two hours of tossing and turning, he sat up and snatched his phone from the charger and typed his credit card information into the mysterious site. He just had to know.
The site opened up and he was instantly intrigued. There were no thumbnails on any of the videos, but the descriptions on each of them were so graphic, profane, and dehumanizing that it would do us all a great service if they were not repeated here. Blake’s favorite appendage however, jumped to a zealous attention at the graphic depictions that the perverse descriptions painted within his brain.
Blake stripped off his briefs and sat down on the edge of his bed. His left hand gripped the phone while his right hand eagerly gripped something else.
He clicked on the first video and it began to load.
Blake waited.
And waited.
And waited.
The video wasn’t loading, so Blake decided to try another one, only to find that his left thumb wouldn’t move. He realized that his entire body was stiff. Nothing would move with the exception of his eyes. He couldn’t even speak.
All he could do was stare at the glowing screen in the darkness of his apartment.
After a moment, his mind started to race while his body remained ridiculously rigid.

Three hours had passed. Blake had been able to see every minute tick by. He had watched his battery meter slowly run down to eighty percent. He had thought that his screen would eventually turn off, but it never did. It was still trying to load the video.
Something was tickling his nose and his face itched. His back had begun to ache and he felt some tiny pin pricks along his still turgid tool. He wanted to cry, but nothing would come. In fact, his eyes had begun to dry because he had not been able to blink.
Blake watched another hour go by before his body finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep, in spite of the fact that he could not close his eyes.

He awoke six hours later and his vision was partially obscured. Still holding his phone and his phallus, Blake tried to scream. The sun was now coming through the window of his apartment. He could see his reflection in the mirror that was on the opposite wall. His hair was long, and it was white. A spotty and wiry beard had exploded out of his face and it hung down to just above his enlarged and sagging nipples set in a sagging and flabby chest.
His breaths were shorty and ragged; phlegm was gurgling with each inspiration.
His arms and legs were covered in large liver spots and all of his skin was a purple paper thin.
He was old.
The shock of seeing his hunched and rigid reflection had staved off the feeling of pain from his nether regions for only a moment. His fingernails were growing on his hands. Some of the yellow things were curling around his phone while the others were curling and jabbing into what now looked like a deflated balloon stretched too thin, that was desperately trying to retreat into his abdomen against his rigid grip.
The battery on his phone was blinking.
It was about to die. He wondered what happened when the battery ran out, but somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew exactly what would happen when that loading screen finally went dark.
His sister’s words were all he could think about as the screen and the world went dark.

After several nights of peace, Blake’s neighbors noticed an awful smell emanating from the air vents. After several complaints, the building’s Super opened Blake’s apartment and found the withered, still rigid frame of a dead old man sitting upright on the edge of the bed.
After taking several photos that he would post later on social media and stealthily absconding with almost a full bottle of Cerave, the Super called the authorities.

2024.05.18 21:54 slsgill What to do next?

Hi, well here I am on the internet asking for help. SICK! Thank you anyone who responds! Anyways, I am 29, I have a masters in OT and a bachelor degree in psych and Spanish. I was diagnosed in grad school with ADHD and developed anxiety. Recently broke up with gf, decided to do travel therapy. It did not work out. So now am trying to figure out what is next. I don't necessarily know what I would be good at, but I know that OT is not for me. I have been kind of interested in UX design, I like the adaptation/tech side of accessibility. I have always liked computers and technology diving into the details of settings, and trying to customize things, and I used to be a lot more creative have let that slack a bit. I really enjoyed working with people with adults with disabilities in a fun setting not necessarily the therapy part. I once dabbled in videography as a creative outlet, but I dunno. I have gone through lots of hobbies, which I love learning the process of, I can dive so deep and hyperfocus on a topic, often it fades when the main events of life get distracting. I also want something that earns a decent living which for me would be above 60k with potential to grow. Does anyone have recommendations for resources that can help figure out what I would be good at. I have too many ideas flowing through my brain -they all have varying amounts of time and money required to achieve them. I don't want to make a big mistake like I feel how I did with my current career which leaves me in over 100k of debt, with forgiveness in 25 years. Props to anyone who reads through this lol, and extra props if you have any good advice or resources. I also get those ideas of just like spending all my money and traveling, or buying a van lol, maybe taking a part time low stress job for a while at like REI or something. I dunno. Thanks people.

2024.05.18 21:52 BackgammonChessPoker Talk me out of what is usually a stupid idea (401k cash out).

My dad is terminally ill and my parents own a vacation rental condo, as well as 7 other rental properties, mostly town houses, all paid off in full. They need to sell a property so my mom will have a downpayment on her new downsized home (they want to move in together and have both homes so my mom feels like the new home is both of theirs, but my dad can choose to die at his forever home, the family cabin, or at the new home) and my mom will have some cash to update their existing home before selling after he passes.
The vacation rental is in a rural area but is a room inside a lodge/hotel that offers ski in and ski out downhill and cross country skiing in the winter and a walk on golf course in the summer. A practically identical unit sold last month for $105k, my parents bought theirs for $50k a few years ago outright and it after all expenses and some updates, it brought them $6000 in profit in 2023 as well as 8 nights of free personal use. To keep it in the family and kind as a forward inheritance, they are willing to sell it me for $75k Additionally, a local government economic stimulus to help diversify the economy in the area from a tax on the area’s single economic industry is going to be spending a few million dollars to help update the ski lodge interior and the surrounding amenities.
I just spent all my cash reserves on a new high efficiency furnace, heat pump, and solar panels and I have a tesla with a $900/month payment and 47k left at 6.6%.
My old 401k is at 223k, my new 401k is only at 14k and my rIRA is at 75k. My new job pays 120k/year and my new 401k allows for a mega backdoor roth..
Im wondering if it makes sense to do a 401k cash out with my old 401k and eat about 40% in fees and taxes, pay cash for the rental condo with a free 30k equity gift, pay off my tesla in full and save on the interest, and then my monthly bills will be very low and i will have about $500/rent from the vacation rental (that I also love to use to ski)… and i will also comfortably be able to do a mega back door roth and quickly rebuild my retirement savings while having no debt other than my primary residence.. whereas if i get a mortgage for the vacation rental, the origination fees will be like 4k and the interest rate at 7% and it will actually be cashflow negative the first few years. My parents (who have been really good and/or lucky with real estate investing) think the unit is going to appreciate significantly because its a government subsidized investment with the government funds paying to facelift the ski resort and lodge, also increasing nightly rental rates.. and i will still be able to max my 401k and roth ira, but i will be stuck paying a high interest mortgage and my car for few years before i can consider a mega back door roth.
I dont know why i wrote this up as me/I, i am actually married, my wife also drives a tesla for $750/month (44k at ~6%) and also maxes 401k and rIRA and her income 173k is how we can afford our primary residence (owe 365k at 2.65% with 30 year mortgage, $2400/month with tax/ins), etc, etc… she took out a 401k loan to help pay for furnace, heat pump, and solar ($60k expenses, 25k 401k loan balance).. we also pay $1500/month for a condo for my MIL.
So with that…
  1. 401k cash out, pay off my tesla and pay cash for the rental condo that comes with a 30k equity gift and is expected to appreciate better than most similar real estate and then immediately start mega back door roth, as well as rebuild our USFR emergency fund back up to $50k
  2. Pay $4k in mortgage origination fees, and about 6k in interest the first year but keep my 401k alone, focus on rebuilding USFR emergency fund back up to 50k and then murder the debt so our cashflow comfortably allows for me to do a mega backdoor roth (delays this 1-7 years, depending upons wife’s bonuses).

2024.05.18 21:50 IllustriousAd4853 Language School Dilemma: ISI (Tokyo) and Tokyo Galaxy

Hello! I'd like to ask for any recent reviews for anyone who went to ISI Japanese Language Schools (preferably in Tokyo) or Tokyo Galaxy Language School. (I don't see any recent reviews about this)
For one, I'm looking into pursuing vocational school or if lucky, secure a full-time job after language school. ISI's career support feature attracts me the most, but I've also looked into previous reviews and some of them have so-so reviews mostly because of its intensity (which I don't mind) and traditional aspect. I'm also looking into Tokyo Galaxy because I'm applying through a middleman (not Gogo Nihon) and they have been a longtime partner school. I've seen that they have a customized learning feature which also interests me.
To add (additional information that may be helpful. 1. I've reduced my options to these schools as I am applying through a middleman agency (not Gogo Nihon) 2. I don't mind a medium-high intensity with frequent homeworks and tests to do. 3. I already have previous experience living in Tokyo (my boyfriend + relatives are living there which is why I prefer it too) 4. I also would like to furnish speaking skills especially, since I've read that some language schools do not really provide opportunities for some students in polishing in this aspect.
I'd like to know your thoughts, opinions and experiences about these. And if you have other language school recommendations in Tokyo, I would also look into them. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.18 21:50 CountOk8572 Are Minutes Important?

Our PTA Board is trying to build structure. Our secretary isn't much of a team player and send more interested in giving constant opinions about everything we do. It's our second secretary, our last one was really great, knowledgeable and hey minutes were decent. They promoted out, hence the new secretary.
This one just isn't interested in doing a good job and definitely has a more privileged attitude. Help is pretty scarce so we've just kinda of accepted it.
But as I was looking through the files, I noticed the PTA pre-COVID has stellar minutes on file. I asked our PTA district for some samples and all these examples make me realize the minutes seem pretty important.
I tried asking to follow the samples but didn't get a great response from him. It was a bit flippant. I guess they used to be the president at their old school and in their words "it doesn't really matter and we shouldn't worry about it, he never took it seriously before and nothing ever came up".
Trying to determine how worth it it is to push to have them try a little harder.

2024.05.18 21:47 LastAd5808 Advice on my non-promotion

Hi folks,
I need some advice regarding my work situation.
I'm in the medical field. Mid 30's. I've been with this company two years now. Absolutely love what I do. Busy with my 4th qualification in the field now.
8 months ago, the manager of the facility approached me and asked if I would be interested in a more senior role (my line-manager's job) as the person currently occupying the role is not performing and responsible in-part for high turn over of staff. I said that I would love to have that job.
Despite me slowly but surely taking on bits of the new role - it never really became mine officially. I never got the title nor the pay increase. Every time I asked - I was just told that "Soon - It's complicated as he is still in that role".
Fast forward to March. My line manager hands in his notice after 15 years with the company. The next day I got called in and I was told that he resigned and that they want me to take over the role officially. They announced the very next day that I will be "care taking" the position until it is filled to the rest of the company. They did tell me that they still have to follow procedures and that they will have to interview me - I do not have an issue with this.
My previous line manger has been gone for 3 weeks now and the vacancy has still not been advertised. They wanted me in the role 8 months ago already, it is FINALLY vacant, and there is just no urgency. I asked what's happening a couple of days ago - and was just told - it should all be sorted in a couple of weeks. I have had nothing but positive feedback since my manager left so they haven't changed their minds as far as I can tell.
For how long, should I be "care taking" the senior role, without the pay and/or title before I start making noise ? I don't want to cause trouble or ruin a potential great opportunity - but - I feel like I'm just being used at this point. It has been 8 months since THEY approached ME with this.
Anyone ?

2024.05.18 21:44 PurpleIll2220 Swipe right at your own risk! :)

Hey, Indianafishing, I’m a new member.
I grew up fishing, I’ve always loved it. Growing up on Morse reservoir probably helped. I joined the service and was gone for a long time. I came back, my grandfather, also a veteran, passed away. My grandmother reached out to me as she was getting rid of his old boat to help pay for her expenses. So I scrounged the money, having just left the army. It was rotten, hadn’t run in years. I didn’t have the money, but I made it happen. The boat sat, rotting away, as I struggled with my recent assimilation to the civilian world, even ending up homeless, living under a bridge for a little while. 3/10 would not recommend. All the while, dragging this boat around. I’ve been living in Indianapolis now for 6 years.
Last year, with the best job I had since coming out of the service, I was making good money. I put several thousands of dollars into fixing this old boat, putting in a fair amount of hours myself. I professionally had it rewired and re-decked. I finally had it on the water a couple of weeks ago for the first time in ten years. She nearly sank; none of the lights worked, none of the pumps worked except one live-well. But man! Did I catch some big ass crappie. Overall, had a good time. I’ve since made some improvements on the boat, spent some good time with an old army friend in town for the weekend. 10/10 would do again.
There’s always a catch; mine is, I’m difficult. I've been told I have an attitude problem. I recently separated from my 8th job in 10 years. Granted, I kept failing upwards, making more money and getting more educated. My therapist says I have ADHD, and an old soul. Honestly, I don’t like working for people whose sole motivation is the almighty dollar. I’m a difficult creature, but I’m not crazy. I find peace and enjoyment, a sense of clarity on the water.
In my free time, I’ve been fishing alone more than once. I came here, honestly, looking for a fishing buddy. A buddy in general would be nice, but I’ll settle for a fishing buddy. I’ve gone through the internet, discord, forums, support groups, reddit threads; as a veteran, there are a lot of options available to me. I know there is a lack of commonsense support initiatives.
I’m not interested in being anyone’s chauffeur. I know this comes off as WTF, but I’m just trying to be genuine here. I’ve had a hard life, I served my country for the same reasons that I don’t get along with people. It gets confusing. I’m just trying to navigate it any way I can.
If you want to go fishing, I have some free time. I’ve got half a mind to go fishing all summer. I haven’t gone fishing in 4 years; last weekend was a refreshing retreat. If anyone has a free weekend, I got a full tank of gas. I’ll come back and check for comments. O7 everyone

2024.05.18 21:43 ccm-scott Worldstone Chronicles - Journey for the Crown - Fantasy Open-World Isometric RPG with RTwP Combat

I’ve been working on Worldstone Chronicles for the past 8 years as a solo developer, and I wanted to share a bit about my journey. It’s been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, filled with sleepless nights, moments of doubt, and incredible breakthroughs.
Creating this game has tested my limits in every way imaginable. Balancing a day job with development, learning new skills, and overcoming countless technical challenges has been tough but rewarding. Each setback taught me valuable lessons, and every victory brought me closer to bringing Worldstone Chronicles to life. You can watch years of my devlogs here if you are wanting to see more!
Worldstone Chronicles is an epic adventure set in a rich, immersive world full of mystery and discovery. The game is still in development, but I’m excited to say there’s a demo available for those interested in getting a sneak peek.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Your encouragement and feedback mean the world to me. Feel free to ask any questions about the game or the development process.
Happy gaming!

2024.05.18 21:43 pwbf66 I have a crush on a doctor: Did I mess it up or was he never into me?

I am a medical student and got this new job at the hospital a few weeks ago. When I was introduced to the team, that one assistant doctor really stood out with his friendliness and helpfulness towards me. I perceived it as really beyond "normal" because he would offer me his help for things like asking if I got money for the lunch in the Cafeteria (did he wanna pay it for me if i didn't have money?) or just offered to show me the hospital etc despite being super busy with the patients, i was assigned to another assistant doctor's office because i dont get my own as a student and he said "there's more space in my office 😉". His smile when he saw me or all his offers to help me with stuff really made me feel special. This was all in the first day of work! I thought that he's just being super nice because I'm the new co-worker and need a little support. Especially because even if I'm not a shy person at all I'm very introverted and have nobody to hang out with in the breaks I thought maybe he wanted to give me a warm welcoming. Unfortunately due to a decade-long history of depression, I have problems with expressing emotions on my face. In general, I can't express emotions well, even though I feel them very intensely. People also often tell me I seem very distant, cold and uninterested even though that's not the case! I'm just bad at showing happiness. And because of that I think I couldn't show my gratitude towards him and probably seemed bored or uninterested. Long story short I developed a crush for this man but the problem is that he isn't that nice to me anymore. He always used to sit next to me when we had team meetings but now he doesn't. He doesn't seem to be as happy to see me as he used to be and I don't catch him staring at me anymore. I work part time there and have seen him just a few times now (3 or 4) I know it's a very short time but maybe you could give me tips on how to not completely mess this up. I have nearly no experience with men not because I'm unattractive (I'm actually pretty decent looking) but because I'm extremely avoidant and skeptical. I heard you shouldn't show too much interest in a man or else he'll lose interest because men want to pursue lol. I also don't wanna make him feel like he was too "nice" towards me. Do you think I misinterpreted his nice behavior as being into me or did he switch from interested to avoidant because he thinks I'm not interested? But even if I wasn't interested, wouldn't a man pursue a woman he likes?

2024.05.18 21:42 warmandcozysuff Interview Questions

I am going back to teaching after taking a year off (substituting) and applying in a completely different area than I used to teach in. I'm pretty nervous because I haven't done an interview like this in forever. I've seen several posts asking about what questions may be asked in interviews, with no responses. It's been a while since my interviews, but I remember nailing most of them (I did A LOT of interviews before I settled on my previous school). The reason I nailed them is because my classroom management teacher gave us a list of questions and let us practice answering them with a partner at the end of every class. I also wrote out the answers to every question, so I knew I had really thought them through, and I put the questions in a little cup and pulled one out every time I passed it to practice answering them.
Honestly, I think most of us will find a job even if we do not nail the interviews, but it could be the difference between getting the job you want and just taking the job you get. So, it is important IMO to practice questions a lot if you have your heart set on a specific school.
I'm not sure how much questions have changed since COVID and everything, but I thought I'd share the list I had from back then. I'd love to know any additional questions y'all may have encountered in interviews since then, so I can add them to my little cup. I'm also happy to listen if any incoming teachers want to bounce some answers off of me! Also, most of the questions on my list were never asked in my 20 or so interviews. The most common ones back then were strengths/weaknesses, what curriculum are you familiar with, and classroom management style. There were also some new questions at each interview, though I didn't add them to my list back then unfortunately. I'm interested to know if there are any specific questions y'all have gotten over and over.
So, without further ado, heres the list my teacher gave me all those years ago:
1. Why did you become a teacher?
2. Why do you want to work at this school?
3. What kind of qualities do students look for in a teacher?
4. What do you think it takes for a teacher to be successful?
5. What is your classroom management philosophy?
6. How will you plan to build positive relationships with parents?
7. How will you handle a parent who is overly involved in your classroom?
8. How well do you know and understand the Common Core State Standards?
9. What is your opinion of classroom technology and how do you plan to integrate it?
10. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
11. What is your personal philosophy of teaching?
12. How do you anticipate identifying a struggling student? What will you do to help that student?
13. Can you describe important events of the first day of school in your classroom?
14. What do you think about teachers working together to plan lessons and test? What will you be able to contribute to this collaboration?
15. What was the most difficult aspect of your student teaching experience?
16. What are the different ways you will assess students and measure their learning?
17. How will you modify your instruction to meet the needs of a gifted learner?
18. What is the most valuable lesson you learned from your student teaching experience?
19. How do you plan to continue growing as a professional?
20. How do you plan to accommodate a student with an IEP?
21. Can you tell me an example of a lesson you’ve planned and taught that models differentiated instruction?
22. How will you prepare your students for our standardized state assessments?
23. What type of communication do you plan to have with your parents?
24. How will you handle a student who continues to interrupt your instruction?
25. How will you handle a student with autism who is having a meltdown in class?
26. What grade and/or subject do you feel most comfortable teaching?
27. What subject area is your least favorite?
28. How will you handle conflict among fellow teachers?
29. What is one area where you hope to grow professionally?
30. What is your opinion of classroom observations?
31. What classroom rules and procedures do you consider important?
32. How do you plan to address bullying in your classroom?
33. Who was your most influential teacher and why?
