I was thinking this as I was making a tuna mayo filling. My mom used to give me tuna mayo on a white breadroll for school lunches a lot when I was growing up. I absolutely hated them after a while, probably out of boredom, but I was never thrilled about the taste either.
Now it's a treat I make for myself every now and again (noone else in the family likes it so it's just for me) - tinned tuna, handful of shredded hard mozzarella, big handful of corn, big finely chopped red onion, plenty of freshly ground black pepper and salt, and then plenty of full-fat mayonnaise. Optionally some torn coriandecilantro. Great on a toasted ciabatta roll, or atop a jacket potato.
The other thing I hated was a haddock pie my mom used to make. Partly I hated having to look out for tiny bones, but I found the whole dish insipid. Now I make a version based on Jamie Oliver's everyday fish pie recipe every now and then as a quick and easy yet luxurious treat. Great for informal dinner parties as well.
600g/1.5lb mixed fresh fish (ideally at least one smoked either haddock or salmon, plus a white fish), some fresh raw shelled shrimp or prawns (not too big), some small scallops if you're feeling fancy, one large grated carrot, big handful of shredded mature cheddar, zest and juice of one lemon, two handfuls of baby spinach leaves, roughly chopped, two tomatoes chopped, light dusting of chili flakes, salt and pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil. Mix well, then press into the bottom of a casserole dish. Top with mashed potato (I'm lazy, I buy the ready-made stuff most of the time; it needs about 900g/2lb, more if you have a wideshallower dish) spread out evenly, and optionally a layer of shredded medium cheddar and some more black pepper. 30 minutes in the oven at about 180C/355F. So simple to prepare.

I'm not against corn, but I have 10 bags, and other than Sheppard's Pie, putting it in a soup, stew, stirfry, fried/skillet corn, a salad, or using it as a side dish...I don't know how to use all this corn up.

Does anyone have any experience with these products?
I’m cautiously optimistic here. These were found at a Kroger brand store. They are all rated “yellow” in our app for soy/soy bean because they all have “natural flavoring.” We’ve had good luck so far with foods that contain that, but we’ve only been at this for a month. The pizza has “vegan natural flavors,” and I don’t know how that differs from “natural flavors.” They’re also rated yellow in the breastfeeding category for these ingredients: Pot pie: sage Pizza: konjac gum Taquitos: green tea extract, olive extract, spices
They all say soy free… however, I’m very wary because I know food labeling can get sneaky, right? If the ingredients don’t have the word “soy” or “soybean oil” then you can stick “no soy” on the packaging right? But it doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t ingredients, like natural flavoring, that contain soy derivative ingredients in them. Am I correct in that thinking? What do you guys think? Is it worth trying?

Like the title says, I need recommendations for gluten free food. I mostly even avoid fast foods but had been trying to eat tortillas since they are supposed to be gluten free but as it turns out, most of the tortillas offered in India happen to be made from wheat and maida, and not corn like they are supposed to.
My daily diet mostly consists of oatmeals, millets, eggs, dry fruits, meat which is either steak, soup, or salad full of vegetables, fruits, white rice, curd, yogurt, kefir, potatoes either fried or in some other form.
Mostly avoid sabzis because I find them to be overcooked which destroys most of the nutrients compared to my other preferred types of cooked meals. I have been thinking of including quinoa too for some time.

Had a lovely time at Curtis Stone’s “Maude” in Beverly Hills, went for my birthday to have my first Michelin star experience. Quite satisfied!
First item was a “welcome cocktail,” a frozen bar of green apple mojito with fir pine powder and sorrel on it, very refreshing and fun to eat.
The next three are the “snacks” on the menu. The yellowfin tostada was fantastic, the green on it is tomatillo and it was set on a purple corn chip. A lot of dishes had a crunchy element for texture which I appreciated. Second snack was “pai tee” which was my second favorite thing of the night. The little cups were filled with cured trout and avocado mousse, and topped with smoked trout eggs. So creamy and rich with good trout flavor without being too fishy. Last snack was the green garlic pillow which was basically a tiny salad in a little puff of some kind, had crème fraiche and pickled green garlic inside and microgreens on top.
The nopales dish was interesting; steamed dungeoness crab with cactus and raspberry (menu says green strawberry but maybe they were out?). Sounds strange but it worked, the raspberry acted almost like a vinaigrette to give a burst of acidity and brightness, and the cactus cracker on top added some crunch.
The sea urchin was okay, best uni I’ve had but that’s not saying much for me. I only ever had it before as sushi and described it then as “salt flavored toothpaste” so I was apprehensive. Flavor was good though, nice and creamy, and the mandarin added some zing to cut through the richness. Didn’t really taste the caviar and it could have used another piece of mandarin in there. Not bad though.
The snap peas were my third favorite; it was literally just peas, caviar, jamon iberico and jamon iberico broth. Could have honestly demolished a whole thermos of the stuff. Caviar felt superfluous, not sure it added much compared to the ham and peas but overall delicious.
The homemade bread and butter was good. The butter was aged in house for 10 weeks so it had an almost cheddar like flavor. The bread was apparently the bread from the movie The Menu, which was hilarious.
Halibut was up next and this was my favorite of the night, could have polished off a full entree size plate of it and it’s totally put me in the mood for making bouillabaisse. Everything was perfect, the fish, the mussels, even the sea beans. And the broth? chefs kiss
Next was abalone and asparagus over a miso risotto followed by asparagus tempura. Delicious, not much more to say. Abalone was very tender and the tempura was crisp and flavorful. They also had little wedges of limequat to squeeze over them.
Wolf Ranch Quail was good, very well cooked, but the real stars were the sauces. One was beet based and was really thick, almost a puree, and the other was a very flavorful tarragon sauce. Good stuff.
The cheese course was our least favorite, which isn’t to say it was bad or anything, just didn’t wow us like everything else. The cheese itself was sort of an espuma with celery root and truffle underneath, but the overall impression when you get a bite with some of everything was “hot wet cheese.” Eh.
Dessert was amazing, they take you upstairs to their chilled wine loft where you can get coffee, sherry, and a blanket. Started with a strawberry granita palette cleanser, then had pistachio “ravioli” which were delightful. The truffle was chocolate mousse inside a chocolate shell molded from a real truffle, I ate it too fast to get a cross section but it was amazing. Last was a selection of mignardises, with cream puffs, bonbons, and berries rolled in mannitol.
Ambiance and service were both impeccable. Had a lovely evening and glad I went! Definitely recommended.

Hey everyone i’m very new here and im throwing a kind of picnic themed birthday party on sunday and im not sure if im overdoing it with the food… The size of the party is about 10-15 adults and we have vegan, vegetarian and non veg, this is what i have so far:
i will cut a club sandwich size toast in 4 for all the sandwiches and toasts
Vegan
-mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
-mini avocado toast
-Mini mayo tomato toast
-savory yogurt parfait
Vegetarian:
-mini egg salad sandos
-savory yogurt parfait
Meat:
-mini fajita sliders
-mini philly cheese steak sliders
-Savory yogurt parfaits
In small serving bowls:
-nuts
-Cheese cubes
-Olives
-cucumber slices
-rasbperry
-blueberry
-strawberry
I will have lemonade and maybe some other juice and water for refreshments
But the kicker is that we have a huge tub of corn (around 1.5 kgs or 3.3 pounds) that we want to put on the bbq or just cook and eat,…
Also worth noting that i have no idea what to have as dessert… a friend is bringing cheese cake and i have a swiss roll cake, but i have no vegan options 😅
So… is this too much? If its not how many sandwiches i should make of each type?

I’m putting together a slideshow for a meeting, and always include a bunch of trivia questions for prizes to keep them engaged. One of the questions is about old menu items, and I thought it would be fun to include pictures because some of the options just seem like they would never be on our menu 😂
I have only been able to find 2 photos to include, and a list of what the owner and I could come up with from what he remembers (I know some are LTOs, but most are just old items). I’m wondering if anyone has been around long enough to have pictures of any of these items or anything else you can think of!
