Hi, I am looking for some career advice in regard to my specific situation. I am an aspiring data analyst who has been trying to break into analytics for several years now, with not zero, but very minimal success. I have a BA in Economics from a what I believe most people would say is a pretty solid university. I recently turned 30, and am currently unemployed.
Earlier this year I applied to a single (I know) MSBA program and am happy to say that despite not expecting to be, I was ultimately accepted. The accelerated one-year program is actually offered by the same institution I got my undergraduate degree from, so again regarded as really solid overall. In all the research I've done it certainly appears that it is a well-regarded program, and their placement report data is very impressive (2023 took a significant hit compared to 2022, but that is being attributed to the downturn in the job market which I don't have much reason to doubt). I am not so much asking about the value of a Master's in this field, or whether it is overall a worthwhile endeavor. Rather I am wondering if given the details/circumstances I've shared, do you think it makes any sense for me to not go this year and apply to more schools and programs in the next cycle? The reason I am asking is because since finishing undergrad I have been pursuing a career as a data analyst, and self-learning "data analytics", not necessarily "business analytics". Aside from a few videos and articles here or there, I haven't actually spent much time thinking about what business analytics is in contrast to data analytics. I have some understanding of the differences between the roles of data and business analyst, but this is not simply a role this is a master's program with a curriculum. I will confess that there are several convenient factors with this program that I would not have with maybe any other, so in other words the reason would have to be pretty substantial for me to confidently choose to look for a different program like an MSDA, or Applied Analytics, etc. But at the same time this is a huge commitment and investment to be making only to realize after the fact that pursuing it has restricted me from certain roles I am actually interested in, especially given that 1. I want to do analytics because I like working with data and 2. I actually never took a single business or management class in undergrad simply because I was not nearly as interested compared to Econ and even Math/Stats. Hope this wasn't too long winded... I suppose it can be boiled down to asking is there a meaningful difference between an MSBA and MSDA, etc. in my situation?

I am currently trying to figure out the true pay difference for this physical hours worked for a new job I am considering. The salary offer is clearly a significantly less difference, but it is also an incredibly less number of hours worked a year. Here are the numbers I know.
CURRENT JOB - 240 physical working days a year - 2,160 physical hours worked a year - $27 an hour take home pay after taxes
NEW JOB OFFER - 180 physical working days a year - $1,440 physical hours worked a year - $17.5 an hour take home pay after taxes
With this new job, I would be working 720 hours LESS a year. My question is — for the significant fewer hours worked a year in the new job, is the hourly pay really ALL that different?
What other figures / math do I need to calculate the true difference in pay for hours worked? I definitely have figured out things like PTO differences, holiday pay, etc. which I didn’t feel was relevant to include as my question is regarding physical hours worked - but if those figures are needed I can include. I’m at a loss of what other numbers I even need, or what I need to divide, multiply, lol.

I want to begin by saying that I recognize that I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity and freedom to make this decision. Definitely don't want to come off as boastful and am genuinely looking for advice.
I applied to Western's National Scholarship program and ended up receiving the 70k President's Entrance Scholarship (1 of 1) as well as Scholar's Electives. I also received an offer to Mac Health Sci last week. I know a huge part of this decision comes down to my future goals which so far have been getting into medical school and pursuing medicine.
I know that Mac Health Sci is notoriously a "feeder" program with its high matriculate rate into med, but I was wondering if the program itself still outweighs the opportunities that Western is providing. I've included my thoughts about each program below:
Mac Health Sci

• "Easier" program with lots of elective space (yay) that better sets you up to obtain a high GPA
• More time to devote to ECs, research, hobbies, and general work-life balance
• Smaller class sizes along with more faculty support
• I've heard the environment is less toxic and people are generally more supportive in Health Sci despite the premed culture
• Inquiry and PBL with emphasis on group work
  • The learning style is definitely new to me and I'm a little concerned if I'll truly enjoy it since I've heard from a mix of people who love it, learn to love it, or absolutely despise it
  • I'm very comfortable with the traditional learning style since it's what I'm used to (lectures and exams) but am willing to adapt to this new learning style, especially if it means that I get to grow as a person through group work and the program's focus on assignments over exams (although, I will say my stance on group work is pretty neutral and my experiences in high school do not help that lol)
  • The ability to guide my own learning through inquiry sounds really cool
• Given the program's heritage, many resources available and support from upper years on med applications
• Writing reflections and courses where the final is an interview with a facilitator seem like good practice for med interviews and becoming a better writer

Western Med Sci

• 70k is a LOT, but I will say that financially, I am in a position where the money is nice but I am by no means drowning myself in debt if I reject it
• A high GPA is achievable, but will require much more work and dedication, possibly taking away time that could be spent on ECs and other things
• Is a weeder program that forces you to take certain courses that are known to tank GPAs such as Stats and Applied Math, and I think this also cultivates an environment where people see each other as competition and are much less willing to help each other out
• I am genuinely interested in the hard sciences and modules offered, but they seem to be more geared towards preparing you for grad school or alternative professions
• Better preparation for the MCAT (the depth that some courses go is probably overkill)
• The opportunity to start doing research with a prof in 2nd year through the Scholar's Electives program (will be overloading by 0.5 credits in 1st and 4th year though, and I'm not yet sure if research is something I enjoy)
• First-choice residence in 1st year (this is a small thing) and guaranteed on-campus housing in upper years

I've visited both campuses and liked the feel at both so that isn't too much of a factor for me. The opportunities in London vs. Hamilton also seem pretty comparable. Health Sci sounds amazing and the only thing that really concerns me is the untraditional learning style and if I am one of the few it doesn't click for. I do not want the next 4 years of my life to always be nose to the grindstone and the balance seems significantly better at Mac than Western, but I also recognize that Mac is not a guaranteed ticket to med school and it truly depends on the person, not the program.
If anyone could provide their two cents, I would greatly appreciate it :)

Hi everyone! I told myself I'd post on here to pay it forward as someone who has spent a lot of time obsessively lurking on this sub.
I took the GRE last Saturday and got a 163V 168Q. Thought I'd share some of my thoughts/ perspective in case it's useful!
Things I'm glad I did: 1. Giving quant the respect it deserves!!! I took the GRE in college, and as a CS major who had taken really difficult math classes, I had this perception that it would almost be embarrassing if I had to study hard for the quant section. With this approach, I was never able to break 162. This time around, I made sure to give it the respect it deserves and was able to get a higher score.

1. Spending time on the fundamentals This one is controversial, and I'm not sure what the "best practice" is, but for the first three months of studying, I focused most of my efforts on completing TTPs quant course. It was long and it took a while to get through, esp because I was taking diligent notes and completing all the problems / chapter tests, but I found it to be really useful in setting me up for success when I began doing real practice problems.
   
2. Doing timed problems After getting the fundamentals down, I focused on doing a ton of timed problems. I used the 5lb book and the Big Book for this. I would have a stopwatch going on my phone and hit the lap button every time I finished a problem. Then, I would literally log in an excel which ones I got right and wrong, how long they took, and (1) why exactly I got questions wrong and (2) why a question took me a long time if I spent more than 3 min on it. I found timed practice with logging helpful because it helped unearth some of my flaws in test taking. For example, it made me realize how many arithmetic errors I made and how many questions I missed from just not reading the question carefully. So then I was able to make some mental notes on what I wanted my "question protocol" to be (I.e read each question twice, slight pause to make sure arithmetic is correct, etc.)
   
3. Practice hard problems If you want to break a 165, the reality is that a majority of the questions you get will be medium and hard. Which means you have to get good at answering hard questions correctly and quickly. The only way to do this is by more practice. I used the following sources for a repository of hard questions to drill: (1) Advanced quant section of 5lb book and (2) GregMat quant questions.
   

I can't stress this enough because the reality is the actual test was harder than any ETS practice tests so it's important to ensure you over prepare for advanced questions.
Mistakes I made: 1. Not preparing enough for verbal. When I first took the GRE 5 years ago, I got a near perfect verbal score. Additionally, I had gotten a good verbal score when I took a diagnostic GRE so I didn't think it was pertinent. That was a bad decision because the verbal section was REALLY hard and I know I left points on the table by not studying for it

1. Freaking out over everything This whole process was really emotionally draining. I never got great practice test scores and it made me question my value, my intelligence, and my worth throughout. I just want to stress (understood it's way easier than done) to try your best to just enjoy the process and not ruin your mental health over this test!

Other little tips: 1. The first free PP1 is INCREDIBLY deceptive. I am convinced ETS made it way easier than the other practice tests / the actual GRE bc they know people are going to use it as a diagnostic, score higher than they think, and therefore decide to take the GRE over whichever competing exam. I scored a 165 on verbal, which made me think I didn't need to study much verbal BUT THIS IS A TRAP!!! So just keep this in mind before making any big decisions about your study plan.

1. Be judicious with ETS materials. Try your very best not to exhaust them early in your prep journey since there isn't a lot out there
   
2. It is true, the actual GRE is harder than the practice tests. I don't mean to inspire anxiety in anyone, but it is true unfortunately. So it is best to over prepare.
   
3. The GRE big book is helpful but keep in mind the quant is way easier than the actual GRE. I think the book was made at a time when students had less time per problem and there was no calculator involved. So just keep in mind that most quant problems are going to be on the easy side

• Health Rising reported some time ago becoming obsessed with the energy problems found in ME/CFS. Vishnu Shankar, a PhD. Stanford student, engineered a study that assessed energy production in ME/CFS patients’ immune cells. The study recently appeared in preprint form and includes some new findings – so it’s onto round 2 of this fascinating study.
• Shankar focused on immune cells because they provide a good test case for assessing energy production. It turns out that protecting the body from pathogens turns is quite an energy-intensive project. Even when it’s not fighting off an infection, the immune system uses about 15-20% of our energy.
• The study assessed both mitochondrial activity and oxidative stress in immune cells (PBMCs) in ME/CFS patients, long-COVID patients, and healthy controls.
• The immune cells in the ME/CFS/long-COVID patients weren’t pumping out as much energy as the healthy controls’ cells – suggesting they were damaged and possibly exhausted.
• Because damaged mitochondria can become free radical-producing machines, they took a look at oxidative stress (free radical) levels. (Just as a damaged automobile engine produces more exhaust than a well-functioning one, damaged mitochondria spew out more toxins; i.e. free radicals.)
• Immune cells have to switch their after-burners on to get the energy to go after pathogens. Producing that energy comes at a cost, though, in the form of increased levels of reactive oxygen species oxidative stress (free radicals). (Note the key word – reactive oxygen species – these are unbalanced oxygen molecules which try to achieve balance by ripping electrons from other molecules; hence the word “reactive”.)
• Dramatically higher levels of reactive oxygen species were found in both the ME/CFS and long-COVID patients’ immune cells compared to the healthy controls. (ME/CFS patients had the highest levels). A closer look revealed, however, that the reactive oxygen species were almost wholly centered in the immune cells from female ME/CFS patients.
• Both male ME/CFS and long-COVID patients did, however, exhibit elevated glutathione levels – indicating that their immune cells were also dealing with increased oxidative stress levels – which have triggered the production of the master antioxidant in our cells – glutathione.
• Altogether, multiple pathways that deal with oxidative stress (glutathione, superoxide dismutase, lipid oxidative damage, etc.) appear to have been overwhelmed in the immune cells in both ME/CFS and long-COVID patients. In all cases, the ME/CFS patients were worse off than the long-COVID patients – leading the authors to suggest that long COVID was an intermediate condition between health and ME/CFS.
• Increased levels of mitochondrial calcium – which drive the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the mitochondria – provided another potential explanation for the increased levels of oxidative stress. That was a very interesting finding given that in 2021 Wirth and Scheibenbogen proposed that increased mitochondrial levels of calcium were a core factor in ME/CFS.
• Once again, damage to the lipids that protect our cells and the organelles in our cells popped out during a metabolomic analysis (of T-cells). Since reactive oxygen species target lipids this finding make sense and it underscored what big deal lipid issues have become in ME/CFS studies over the past few years.
• Once again, men and women had different findings. Oxidative stress was worse in women while lipid damage was more extensive in men. Plus, the study suggested that when confronted with high oxidative stress levels, women’s T-cells go on a hyper proliferation binge – potentially sucking more energy from the rest of the body.
• Trying to reduce the oxidative stress present, they used antioxidants like NAC (increase glutathione), metformin (increase SOD2 expression), and liproxstatin-1 (reduce lipid peroxide levels) in cell cultures and found that NAC and metformin was able to reduce immune activity to some extent. That finding suggested that the right antioxidants might be able to tame the immune activity and improve energy levels.
• All in all, the authors proposed that long periods of elevated reactive oxygen species damage the mitochondria, producing a long-term problem of energy depletion. Because the immune cells already use up so much energy in the body, and then struggle to produce energy in ME/CFS and long COVID, the authors proposed that immune problems in these diseases produce an energy sink that draws energy from other areas of the body.

Hi friends! I am currently considering getting a Procaliber 6 but I am unsure about the frame size. On one hand the Trek page recommends me due to my body height a size M, but then when I use their calculator it rather recommends me M/L.
Maybe a few people who have a similiar body height and inseam to mine, and already have a Procaliber, could help me out here a bit.

While I have a great respect for hunters, trappers and people in animal agriculture who work to improve welfare and sustainability from within, I find it disappointing that many rural people are politically right-wing.
For example, there was an episode of the tv series Wife Swap where a wife from a vegan family swapped places with one from a family of trappers. The trapper family seemed nice and were supportive and reasonable, but they had a confederate flag in one of their rooms.
I've read posts on trapping and hunting forums that express support for right-wing politics and reactionary ideas, such as voting for Trump and believing that white men have their rights infringed upon.
On the other hand, most vegans are politically left-wing, and many do seem educated and well-read.
The fact that many militant vegans have good politics seem like a trump card in their favor, which makes my heart sink.
On the other hand, those living in urban areas who tend to be more progressive often don't understand the food system and the ecological importance of hunting which factors into their reasons for supporting mandatory veganism.
I wish there was a way to create an understanding between rural populations who rely on hunting, trapping and work in livestock agriculture and progressive activists. How would such a thing be achieved?

First off, I don't understand the rationale to not have a ranked mode and a casual mode. I don't want to match with an 8-year old mashing/spamming Ness duo in doubles mode with FS meter, all items, stage hazards on, fought on great cave offensive at 9 million GSP. I want to fight people who are genuinely good at the game with competitive rulesets and don't rely on dirt-cheap item strategies to win. Tekken 8, a game that I've been getting into recently has this managed way better because the majority casual playerbase is separated from the more competitive minority into different modes. Ranked and unranked modes would definitely make smash more enjoyable for both sides of the smash community, and would (hopefully) reduce the number of farmers and item cheezers on QP.
Second, why isn't gaining GSP consistent? I could beat someone who is 3-4 million gsp ahead of me, and all I get is 1000 points. A few games later, I utterly obliterate a player with 2/3 my GSP (most of my roster is between 9 and 10 million but only a few are actually in elite for some damn reason), and I earn 120,000 points. Is there even a math formula for calculating your reward, or is it just based on some random-ass number generator?

The Requirements: Each subject you tutor you have to take a 10–20 question multiple choice test on it. The test will be beginner to intermediate questions on the subject you’ve chosen. You only have one chance to pass the test.
The Pros:

Final Verdict
Wyzant is an easy to use platform that takes a while to build a student base. You’ll have to apply and reach out to students a lot at first before you start getting more consistent jobs. This can take a few months, so consider this before you start. The 25% fee is high, but certainly not unreasonable compared to other platforms.
Varsity Tutors
Money Info: Unless you’re tutoring GRE or LSATs, the flat rate is $15/hr, regardless of the subject. GRE and LSAT tutors make $28/hr. Varsity Tutors charges their students $50 - $75/hr.
Requirements: Most subjects do not require a test, however you do need to send in a video interview of yourself, mostly to confirm that you can speak eloquently.
The Pros:

• You are assigned students after declaring interest, so you can get started tutoring within a few days.
• Students are screened so you’ll mostly get students more prepared for lessons.

The Cons:

• A large amount of tutors will only make $15/hr, whereas they charge $50 - $75/hr per student. This can be a huge cut, and limit on pay, especially if you’re teaching harder subjects like programming, sciences, higher level math.
• The user interface is not as great. Basic functionality is there, but the overall platform is not aesthetic.
• You are legally not allowed to take students off the platform.

Final Verdict
Varsity Tutors definitely has the lowest pay amongst all the platforms. $15/hr to teach is what you can make at some retail jobs in the US. The platform can be better if you need to start making money immediately, or if you live in a country where the cost of living is lower. The amount you are paid is better for people who are teaching subjects that aren’t too difficult.
SuperProf
Money Info: You set your own rate, SuperProf takes 10%. The caveat, SuperProf charges students $39 a month to use the platform.
Pros:

• For tutors, SuperProf takes the least amount from your pay compared to other platforms.
• Students are generally more prepared because they are paying $39 a month to use the platform.
• The user interface is also pretty good.
• You can set your own cancellation policies

Cons:

• There are less students because of the monthly subscription fee.
• It’s very hard to get started as a new tutor. There are tons of tutors with a lot of reviews already.
• You have to teach your first two lessons free.

Final Verdict
SuperProf is very similar to Wyzant in that students and tutors can openly communicate and set up time with each other. The 10% fee is lower than the other platforms. But because it’s already hard to get started as a new tutor, and there are less students on the platform, it’s one of the harder platforms to build a student base.
Additional Notes
While all these platforms have their pros and cons. You can always consider tutoring independently. You do not need any licenses or business registration for tutoring in most places. Salafism is a reform branch or revivalist movement within Sunni Islam that developed in Egypt in the late 19th century as a response to Western European imperialism, with roots in the 18th-century Wahhabi movement that originated in the Najd region of modern day Saudi Arabia.
"Eereerhmm... where are the ideology tags?" NOWHERE! I will not add them.

Context:

Three of my friends asked me about Teslas this month, so I compiled all my thoughts and information into an analysis. Hopefully, it's useful. I have a 2023 Model 3 Long Range. Something I won't go into in the Analysis, but is the key factor for my purchase was the self-driving capabilities. I used Autopilot until Full Self-Driving (FSD) was available for $99/month, then used the free trial and subscribed. I believe this feature is better than any of the competitors (mostly luxury brands) at a significantly better price. Teslas are cheaper than those cars, and the best self driving alternative I found was a Mercedes at $100k+.

Data Driven Analysis of Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Costs and Financing May 2024

Financing Analysis

Tesla’s current offer of a 0.99% interest rate for financing until the end of May 2024 presents a significant financial advantage. This low interest rate minimizes the cost of financing over the loan term. This option seems to only be for the Model Y which makes it a very strong value which I will outline below.

Given the current high-yield savings account rates of 5% or more, taking advantage of Tesla’s 0.99% loan rate can be financially beneficial. By extending the loan term to 72 or 84 months, you can reduce your monthly payments significantly. Practical Considerations

Vehicle Comparisons

When evaluating Teslas, I compare them to luxury brands like Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, and BMW. While a Toyota might be cheaper upfront, Teslas save you money compared to luxury brands both upfront and in the long run with lower maintenance and fuel costs. Plus, they’re reliable with fewer parts that can fail compared to the luxury gas cars.

Model 3 vs. Model Y

From my experience and preference, I only consider the long-range AWD options for both the Model 3 and Model Y. The Model Y offers more space and versatility, making it suitable for those with additional cargo needs, such as transporting a dog. Despite the minimal range difference, the Model Y's value as an SUV is compelling. However, the Model 3's design and efficiency make it a great choice for those prioritizing aesthetics and performance.

Resale Value and Depreciation

Recent studies indicate that Tesla vehicles depreciate faster than some luxury brands, such as Maserati. This depreciation can be attributed to frequent price adjustments and incentives offered by Tesla. While this may be a concern for some buyers, the overall savings on maintenance and fuel costs should also be considered. The Tesla price cuts in early 2024 devalued my December 2023 car overnight by ~$8-$10k.

Charging Infrastructure

Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network is a key advantage for EV owners. However, for those without home charging capabilities, managing battery levels becomes more crucial. Features like Sentry Mode drain the battery ~3-5% per day, so be mindful of charging and usage habits to maintain your battery levels. I do not use Sentry Mode when I know I am leaving the car for long periods without charging.

Customization Strategy

For those considering vehicle customization, opting for a free color and then applying a Paint Protection Film (PPF) in the desired color can be a cost-effective strategy. This approach allows for color flexibility and protects the vehicle’s original paint which is notoriously weak.

Government Incentives

The federal tax rebate of up to $7,500 for Tesla vehicles remains an important factor in reducing the effective purchase cost. This rebate, combined with the 0.99% financing rate, enhances the overall value proposition of Tesla cars.
My state also offers 0% sales tax on EVs, a rebate incentive, home charger install incentive, and EZPASS has a discount for EVs.

Conclusion

My analysis of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y indicates that both offer substantial value, particularly with the current 0.99% financing rate on the Model Y. The low interest rate allows for extended loan terms with minimal additional cost, making the monthly payments more manageable. Despite potential concerns about depreciation, the long-term savings on maintenance and fuel, combined with government incentives, make Tesla a financially sound choice for many buyers who are already looking for a car like Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, and BMW.

The 3 basic parameters of hashtag #Valzubiriagenda:

1. We artists and everyone else can write and self-publish art- and artist-related books: memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs. Books are forever. Pamphlets and brochures are not books.
2. We announce a schedule of increasing prices of our art pieces, which includes quantities (scarcity numbers) per price point and overall (the total quantity of art pieces we might ever make). This helps art traders, art investors and art collectors speculate or even stop speculating and instead join a community of investors working together to hopefully skyrocket to the higher announced prices in a shorter span of time.
3. We can use the NFT world, because NFTs provide the tracking (who owns what) and trading.

We can also not be involved with NFTs. Stores and individuals can help sell art using online presence and our catalogs in the stores. If this trends, or once this trends, even expensive art can be sold by neighboring businesses, without exclusivity. Commission systems do not have to be standardized. Valzubiriagenda NFTs
NFTs only came about a few years ago. But I had been working on this since the 1990s. I wrote a book, Valzubiriagenda, along with fellow artist Silverio Perez, and released it in 2018 (Amazon and elsewhere), tackling everything related to #1 & #2. We'll come up with #3 in a later book/ memoi marketing book.
Any artist, including tangible artists can release 10,000 NFTs if the artist chooses to do so. For tangible artists, the NFT first becomes an Art Commission Contract for sight unseen, yet-to-be made art. Once the art is made, the NFT becomes proof of ownership that the actual, tangible art is theirs.
Warehousing our tangible art
Another related idea is that the tangible art may be warehoused by the artist so that the NFT traders continue to trade. This means that even 10-ton 10-foot tall sculptures can be owned and traded by anyone without worrying about shipping, reshipping, scratches, smudges, parts breaking off, etc. The newness of the pieces remain because they are stored by the artist, source, gallery, etc. The art piece gets shipped to the art collector, the ultimate owner.
An artist who makes ceramic coffee mugs - smaller art pieces, can release 10,000 NFTs with a schedule of increasing prices so that NFT traders can trade immediately. The 10,000 coffee mugs can get damaged, so as they are made, they continue to be stored by the artist, until the time when art collectors decide to have the art pieces shipped to them.
Why only now?
I decided to write as many book-length memoirs as I can before I came out to promote this.
I'm an artist and an author. Both need time to "master." I would not even fully use "master" on myself, because there's always something new, even to my own art, my own writing and publishing.

I don't feel the pressure of writing and publishing because I feel my focus should be on art students and art experts who would study my art and my books 100 years from now. Don't expect relatives and friends to read your books.
I call myself the Dollman
For my NFTs, I am proposing to make dioramas - my original, costumed, bejeweled porcelain dolls in backdrops that will also have precious metals and gemstones. This way I can incorporate precious metals and gemstones in my work, to make sure that people perceive my art as expensive, just in case I myself don't become "famous" - there's no need to get world famous. We are artists and all we need to do is to satisfy the art niche.
Use your laptop now!
I will encourage you to start writing your book-length memoir. Write, Edit and then Self-publish it. Get help. Why wait a hundred years for someone to write about you when all you need is a laptop and a nearby coffee shop.
Don't start counting chickens before the eggs hatch. I have encountered a lot of would-be writers who immediately see themselves as bestselling. world famous assets to society. Two even wanted me to sign NDAs (Nondisclosure agreements), because they did not want me to steal their book ideas.
Here's a suggestion. I would not personally do it. From one manuscript can come 2 books: The Original Draft (unedited, with misspellings, considered to be an art piece, scanned pages(?) of your handwritten original effort), and The Final Edition (edited).
PROVENANCE!
Another way to enhance our investability, tradability and collectability is PROVENANCE - how art ownership proceeds through time. The way this can be done is also through publishing books. Everyone can write their memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs, including traders, investors and art collectors. In effect, we artists can continue to be included or mentioned in even more books, without any additional effort by us.
You as an investor, reseller, trader, art collector should be able to publish a catalog with 250 works by 250 different artists, but they need to agree to this right from the start - it's your money, you should require them to follow your version of the hashtag #valzubiriagenda parameters, which preferably should include permission for you to publish their art. Why would you track down 250 artists later?
No exclusive contracts
If you're a café, you can call for artists, and come up with a book with for example, 30 artists, with a chapter devoted to each artist's profile and images of the artist's art.
You can distribute your catalogs to businesses and individuals near and far and online.
The book Valzubiriagenda even cites that funeral homes and janitors closets can sell art, with or without exclusivity. Airline catalogs can include million dollar art pieces. Car manufacturers, showrooms and even car repair shops can sell art as well. Everyone should be able to do this, anywhere in the world, especially not just because of the pandemic, but right now, we are in really bad economies.
What's with the name #Valzubiriagenda
I was into conspiracy theories in 2018, and this term, "The Mandela Effect," was popular. I had read many times that an artist coined the term, but I had to research online, for her name, many times, before remembering it. I'm not good at remembering names. It took me a year and a half to finally tell you that Fiona Broome coined "The Mandela Effect."
I also thought I might have to research trademarks and copyrights just to come up with a generic name. So I decided on "Valzubiriagenda." I was not really sure at first, but I decided to use it as the title for my book (with co-authoartist Silverio Perez) so that there would be no turning back and I can move on.
Am I a FUTURIST?
Someone I recently met this May 2022 just called me a futurist.
In the 1990s, I proposed to a pension fund that they can raise billions of dollars, especially for emergencies, or as needed, or out of desperation, if the pension fund purchases a quantity of art from an artist who not only has a current, reasonable price, but an announced future price that the artist wants to reach.
That future price would obviously be higher than the current price. The art commission contract for multiple art pieces can be taken to the fund's financial lender for a loan. The higher future price can be used for financing purposes.
The pension fund's treasurer, a publicly elected official, said this idea might work, but we had to keep this a secret and discuss this some more, because other pension funds might copy and do this prematurely. This idea had to come from the two of us. The treasurer needed his votes and I needed credentials.
Added into the pot was my idea that I, as the artist, will also write one book-length artist memoir. This was and still is a strong factor, because the leadership and marketing books I had read then mentioned a strong tip. If you want to advance in your field, write a full-length book that is related to the field.
Unfortunately, the elected official, the treasurer of the pension fund, who was also a friend, passed away - he was old and had ailments. At that point in time, I cannot just approach another pension fund treasurer to share this idea with.
I realized I had to write a few memoirs. I needed to set an example for other artists, so I needed to write more than one memoir. Then I felt I should also make ready another book - the how-to of what I'm up to. I wrote Valzubiriagenda, which was a memoir of sorts. I knew how long it would take me to write a book, so I had to make sure I can also consider this book a memoir.
In 2008, I imagined that someone like Bernie Madoff, or a fund like Lehman Brothers, would be desperate enough to use this to save themselves and their companies. I was not ready. I had only written 1 manuscript for a memoir.
In 2012, I released Dollman the Musical, A Memoir of an Artist as a Dollmaker. Once again, I was not ready because writing it depressed me a little, and I knew I had to write more.
In 2014, I released 3 memoirs, and re-released Dollman the Musical. Besides releasing regular books, I released special editions of the 4 books, which had a "Special Secret Insert for Bankers," which explains my ideas of an announced schedule of exponentially increasing prices, to satisfy investors, and the publication of artist memoirs, to satisfy art collectors.
In 2014, I also issued out a press release. Google "Can Billion Dollar Artist Save Investors and World Economy Valentino Zubiri PRWeb August 19 2014" and you will see the press release.
What I did was stake a claim on my ideas. I did not promote my books and the press release. I just wanted them to stay online, like a sleeping giant or a dormant volcano. I even designed 3 of the book covers to look like indie books from the 1980s. I was planting the seeds, thinking they will eventually grow and bear fruit in the future.
In 2015, I was interviewed by Richard Syrett, about one of my memoirs, Hocus Pocus Lately. This book is my memoir with paranormal stories. I could have pursued promoting my paranormal stories, but I wanted to be known first as a visual artist and memoirist, so I allowed myself one interview related to Hocus Pocus Lately. Richard Syrett has(had?) his own syndicated radio show, The Conspiracy Show with Richard Syrett, about the paranormal. He also guest hosts on Coast to Coast AM, another internationally syndicated show about the paranormal.
In 2018, I released Valzubiriagenda (co-authored by artist Silverio Perez, a fellow artist). Finally, this book is "the how-to of what I'm to."
I'm going to end this with some strangeness. In 1986, a lady at a religious gathering went into a trance and left a good number of messages. Supposedly, anyone who got into a trance would have messages, but once the trance was over, the person would not remember what was said.
I was not part of the group, but the lady turned her head to face me. She "foretold" that whatever I would decide to do in the future, it will take time, but it will be the right thing. This is one of my stories in one of my memoirs, Hocus Pocus Lately.
The Tulipmania of 1634-37
I discovered that there was this incident of rare tulips becoming collectible during the Dutch Golden Age. There were tulips so rare and so well-desired that their prices equaled to that of a house. You can read more about this online (Wikipedia) or watch a few YouTube videos about it.
Here is the most useful idea that I gleaned from the Tulipmania. The tulip bulbs remained safe inside nurseries. The traders were carrying the deeds of ownership to the tulip bulbs.
Then NFTs came to the forefront
I started learning PHP, an HTML scripting language, and MySQL, the database that PHP can connect to in the background, in 1999, when there were only 3 books about PHP and MySQL at the bookstores.
By 2014, I was trying to figure out how to make the "ledger," or database that can be used to update ownership and who can be contacted. If we are trading art, then the art ownership should be updated.
Then NFTs came about. This can be used as our ledger. Everyone can immediately trade NFTs of future, yet-to-be made art pieces, especially because it takes time to make tangible art.
NFTs actually went a step ahead, by allowing digital art to be traded.
The only setback with NFTs, in my opinion, is that it still lacks a commission system for resellers and representatives.
For example, if a café wants to represent me, then they can promote me at their café and on their online pages. If I make one piece of art that will be exclusively represented by a gallery, then that commission will be different and more specific. As ownership is transferred, the subsequent owners should be able to reset the commission. We should also have the option of giving commissions to hundreds of representatives at one time with different percentages if need be.
The recent crypto crash
Lately, we have observed that NFTs and cryptocurrencies have been behaving like the stock market and other markets. They have been fluctuating.
I believe that it is time for a trend which discourages fluctuation of prices.
I have also seen YouTube videos where social influencers are encouraging us to be on the lookout for exponentially profitable ventures, because we have all seen this happen with the exponential increase of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Let's see if #Valzubiriagenda trends
We can announce present and future art prices. The galleries won't do this (yet?) because they follow a more traditional approach to the business of art.
We have a choice of using incrementally or exponentially increasing prices. We still reserve the right to change things in the future, so everyone should know to follow the latest update.
If this trends, if you as an artist simply announces that you will write an artist memoir, or that you will include the future works in future art books, you might have more art traders, investors and collectors approaching you.
Get your pen, paper and calculator
Imagine yourself as an artist, where you are right now. Let's just say you still do not have a book about yourself and your art yet. Imagine now that you have a memoir out there. Don't you think it makes sense to charge more than what you are charging now? Writing and publishing books is just the beginning. I'm just standardizing this approach. The books also say to do other related projects. In my case, getting Dollman the Musical onstage is one idea. You will have other related projects, but the publication of memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs will help all of us.
You can also imagine that a law firm that has meeting rooms, with someone who wants to form a local #valzubiriagenda group, can have meetings. A local café can do the same. Local photographers for your art, writers, editors, book designers, proofreaders and others can join in.
I suggest have printed books to share. 15 copies of your memoir or art books will be better than an e-reader or laptop or your phone to show. These gadgets can be stolen, sabotaged, broken, have coffee spilled on them, etc. 15 printed books means simultaneously showing to 15 people. You can even give them away to potential resellers, investors, traders and collectors.
When it rains, it pours, as in the days of Noah
There's a saying, "When it rains, it pours." There is a negative interpretation and a positive interpretation.
Negative: When trouble comes, they cascade to even more.
Positive: When opportunity comes knocking, more follow suit. We can assume that if one gets our art because of #valzubiriagenda, more want to do it now, because of the rising prices, and FOMO - fear of missing out. What will they lose if they miss the boat?
As I have said earlier, if the #valzubiriagenda trends, if you announce a future memoir or art catalog, you might have an increase of investors, traders and art collectors who would want to check you out. You might encourage more sales. Just remember to write and publish that memoir and art catalog.
There's this saying, "As in the days of Noah." Imagine Noah, building his ark, with members of his own family, putting all his time and effort into it. Noah was a nice guy. I'm sure every once in a while a neighbor offered him coffee, or chai latte, or whatever refreshing drink they might have back then.
Here's the lesson to be learned. Just because they offered him some type of bubble tea drink, or coca cola, they still didn't make it to the ark. Rubbing shoulders with actors does not make you an actor. I have told my artist friends to write their memoirs. They told me that once they see me succeed, after all these many years of seeing my seemingly useless efforts, then they will write their memoirs and follow the road that I had paved for them.
Good luck to them, but if I were you, act now, get my art or make art. Support the 5-year old artist whose parent promised to release a comprehensive art catalog. If you get that 5-year old's art, and mine, I would be honored to be in the same art catalog that you will produce. I'm already successful at that point. You have gotten the mission just right.
I have already claimed to have written the most book-length artist memoirs in the world. Dethrone that claim. Barter. Use ghostwriters. Success to me means facing God one day and saying, I wrote my memoirs and left the world a legacy of books and art. I will not tell God, smiling and proudly, that I encouraged a run for my art by announcing a schedule of exponentially increasing prices that reached 9 figures. I'm sure God knows we had fun.

This is very hard for me to open up about but I don’t know what else to do. I’m hoping there is somebody out there who comes across this who has had a similar problem. I’ll be 20 in October. I remember grasping addition and subtraction when i was in the first grade but my understanding stops there. i can almost grasp multiplication and division when it’s by a small number (i.e x 2 or x 3) but i still struggle very hard with that. I feel so flustered when I try to figure any simple equation out. My teachers never took this issue seriously when i would ask for help. i was hoping it would click eventually i chose to focus more on Science and History. i continued to pretend like i understood and i chose to cheat my way through math class my entire school career. My grandmother had a private tutor work with me for 6 months and I got absolutely nowhere. it makes me want to cry. When i started high school i couldn’t even begin to fathom throwing letters into the mix. i have never once been able to solve any algebra equation nor could i explain any rules of math to you. then math began bleeding into my other classes- it started to mix with science. I had always excelled in Science.. once i found out math and science were hand in hand, my heart shattered. i felt hopeless and honestly i just feel stupid. i cannot comprehend this world. I eventually just stopped going to school and dropped out in the ninth grade. I am deeply embarrassed by this. I don’t understand why i just can’t get it through my head. what is wrong with me. is this something i should share with a doctor? if anyone has any ideas on what this could be or if they were in this situation and it got better or even any words of wisdom please help!!!

Math genuinely makes me so upset. Not because I don’t like math, but because I'm so bad at it and want to be better desperately. This is the only subject that I really struggle with and it’s driving me crazy that my gpa is dropping just from this class.
I am all too familiar with trying to study, but finding it hopeless as I just don't get it. I rewatch the lesson, rewrite my notes, go to a tutoring website and then go on youtube before I have some idea of what I'm trying to learn. This is always an excruciating process. It feels like I am trying to understand a new language at most times, but I often end up understanding the unit somehow.
The main problem were my teacher's name cards that he used about every other class. The lights turned off, and the smartboard lit up. He wrote questions on the board, and shuffled through the cards to pick on a student who would answer. If you didn't get the answer right, he'd keep calling on you until you finally get the correct answer. I gained tons of anxiety from this as I constantly feared that I would get the answer wrong.
But unexpectedly, my math teacher got into a car accident. To be more specific, he got hit by a car. So he's been resting in the hospital for about two weeks now. Another teacher has posted recordings online for the new unit we have to learn; there are 6 recordings that are an hour long, and 6 note packets.
I don't know what to do. I already have trouble keeping up with math, but now all the lessons are online by a different teacher, and I only have 3 note packets out of 6. I have one more quiz left in the school year in a few days, and I have my finals. I've been trying to study for my quiz, but I'm having trouble keeping focus and actually memorizing the information. Any advice?
