My husband and I tried to rescue a cane corso/Rottweiler mix from a shelter. We bring him home after an hour long hike to introduce him to our other two dogs, shih tzu and chihuahua. I bring my shi tzu out first. My dog was the sweetest dog ever mind you, he gets all excited as he approaches him and in that split second the dog has him locked in his mouth. I try to even pry his mouth open, he bites me and I still try to pry. He rips him more. I’ll stop the story from here but I’m sure you get the point. We also bring my dog to the emergency vet, he was also supposed to make it. He already had a small slipped disc which resulted in him being on rimadyl regularly. There’s too ways I’m hoping to go and wanted to know if I can pursue them, first being; the shelter told us he was good with other dogs including small dogs. We didn’t even get a meet and greet like most shelters expect and want to do, they didn’t offer so we assumed that wasn’t something they did offer. Second, the vet sent us home with my dog in a critical state which I believe resulted in his death, I called the vet shortly after he was sent home with us saying how he was restless due to all of the pain and they say “just give him another pill” when mind you they already also said at the vet we need to be careful with medication due to rimadyl (it’s basically advil for dogs) and it was clear something else was needed possibly a blood transfusion or something, I’m not a vet but he wasn’t even getting sleep not for a second. I just wish there is some sort of legal way I can go about this, I’m only sharing somewhat of the story. This isn’t even the end of it there’s a lot of factors that come into play but, is there anything I can do? I also have been on “a leave of absence” at work for about a month now. I was diagnosed with PTSD so I’ve been in therapy 2x a week and also occupational therapy also 2x a week because I can’t move my thumb and I work a physical job. The dog was also my certified ESA dog, my everything.

2024.06.01 17:31 Spring_Witch27 My normal dog is trying to steal my service dogs job
For context I have a four year old Cane Corso and a year and half old Bernadoodle (1/8 Bernieze mountain dog, 7/8 poodle). Cane Corsos are smart, loyal nanny and/or guard dogs, and my baby is no exception. If it weren't for the fact she's scared of strangers, especially tall white dudes and playgrounds give her anxiety we would have probably mad her my service dog. But at home when you have an 80 pound dog who's as smart as whip elbowing the doodle out of the way so she can play nurse maid and doing a good job of it the doodle quickly decides he isn't needed because I'm in good paws. This results in much bigger problems like him ignoring the problem outside the house when I need him

- BookTrek (come partecipare?

It amazes me that this breed can do a lot now compared to what they were bred for. A Cane Corso will put out the work you give it. This is my 6 month Corso Messi, we recently discovered he loves herding so we now take him to herd sheep at an all breed herding facility! Once he’s mature we’ll do more physical activities like dock diving or agility! submitted by Dear-Concentrate-686 to CaneCorso [link] [comments]

I don’t have the rest information due to me getting this dog from my ex that we once shared, she’s currently in rehab (I wasn’t aware she had a problem) and I was the only willing to take the good boy. I can’t any get answers on what vet she took him too currently, if she did, considering the circumstances. I do have a vet appointment next week
But he has this bump on the bottom of his paw up his leg a bit. he seemed to have licked raw (concerning) it doesn’t seem to bother him walking, just have to tell him to quit licking it. I was hoping for some insight on if he needs to be rushed to a ER vet or if it can wait until next week. I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just what it could possibly be so I can prepare financially if necessary

2024.05.30 21:32 Aurora_H2024 Advise for my brand new girl
We’ve just adopted an 8 week old cane corso x staffy called Aurora from rspca, she was dumped in a skip at one week old. We know quite a lot about training and we know socialising is extremely important but google hasn’t been helpful when trying to find out how we go about that because she can’t walk far and we don’t want her to have a bad experience with anything and be put off for life. I’d love to hear how you socialised your pups and any advise you can give me. submitted by Aurora_H2024 to CaneCorso [link] [comments]

2024.05.30 17:24 rampacash Biting
Hey this is my five month old working line gsd x cane corso. She’s smart as hell easy to train most things with butttttttt She will not stop biting. From what I’ve seen that’s the gsd side and not typical for a cane corso. I have tried EVERYTHING. I end up having to seperate her. I’ve never had a dog nip and bite like this. Can not sit on the couch with her for one second without her biting my hands. Can’t wear shoes in the house without her biting them. Basically can not do anything around her with out her trying to bite ME. And when I correct her she couldn’t care less. She will stop if I tell her to look at me or sit but then bam right back to it. She just keeps going til I crack it and drag her outside. Any one else been through this.? I’ve owned pit bulls, golden retrievers, Staffys and jack Russell’s before and been through the mouthing but this is excessive like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s hard no it’s impossible to be around her to just chill. She would be happy to be working all day long but that isn’t our situation. Didn’t really know what I was getting into before she ended up here. Also didn’t know she was from a working line father until we’d had her a few months. She’d be better on a farm probably. But here we are. She sees this as home and us her people so I wouldn’t want to rehome her. But fkn hell it’s exhausting. I’ve heard gsds are land sharks for a couple years wondering if this is what people mean by that? Also we do dog obedience once a week and practice what we’ve learned at home so we r working on training her but considering getting a more one on one trainer submitted by rampacash to germanshepherds [link] [comments]
2024.05.30 13:14 1Redditbunny What family guardian dog breeds are the healthiest? /live longest
Looking for a dog as a family guardian. Struggling to find one that is relatively healthy. What guardian breeds are the healthiest? (Eg. Rottweiler, cane corso, working line GS, doberman, maligator, Giant schnauzer etc)
So far, after some research, a malinois is the only healthy guardian breed I could find. (This does NOT mean I will choose it and base my decisionon health alone) are there any other breeds?
Feel free to name other breeds too.
Note: please answer based purely on health issues and Longevity. Thank you :)

2024.05.30 02:20 ToxicHaywire Does my Corso look mixed with Great Dane?
Stone is now around 13 weeks old. Walks at the park and other places, we get a lot of people asking if he’s a Great Dane mix. We purchased him off a local Cane Corso specific breeder, but I definitely see some of the Great Dane resemblances. What are the odds that he does have some Great Dane in him even at a purebred price and documentation along with him? He’s definitely skinnier and lankier than some other Corsos I’ve seen. Nonetheless, he’s beautiful and we love him! submitted by ToxicHaywire to CaneCorso [link] [comments]
2024.05.30 02:02 Careful_Cheek_7332 New dog food
I’ve been searching for a new kibble to feed my 3 month old puppy, he’s a Cane Corso, Saint Bernard mix, looking at the ingredients and formula I feel like it’s a good choice but I am looking for second opinions or guidance to other food, I’ve tried looking for reviews online but not much is found other than the good rating from dog food advisor I believe. The food I’m looking at is the Pro Pac Ultimates Large Breed Puppy Chicken Meal & Rice formula

2024.05.29 23:24 SA9819 Two become three.
Moving in with my girlfriend in the next few weeks. She’s got a GSD (11yrs old) and a Corgi (3yrs old) both bitches. I’ve got a 10 month old Cane Corso dog.
Both her dogs are reactive to birds on the garden and other dogs when on the lead. Mine isn’t to either.
Any advice and guidance on how we integrate them without too much aggro?

2024.05.29 21:35 AllTittiesNeedLove Anyone wanna draw my derp-wolf?
Her name is Sushi-Mo. She's a siberian husky aka a derp-wolf. Some facts about her: She is a cat. She doesn't howl, bark or talk back. I think she was assembled wrong at the husky distribution center. She only has 2 braincells but 1 and half of it is malfunctioning. She has 2 brothers, Meatloaf and Cosmos (Cane Corso and Pitbull/Rott) She has 2 sisters (Potat and Boots, both cats) She has broken 2 TVs in the 5 years she's been alive. When she was a puppy she managed to poop all over my car and somehow got it on the ceiling. I was quite disgusted yet impressed. She has 18 muscles in each ear, none of which will make her listen to you. submitted by AllTittiesNeedLove to redditgetsdrawnbadly [link] [comments]
2024.05.29 20:58 mulemuffin Cane Corso training recommendation!
I’ve been seeing a lot of questions and requests for advice about training Corsos (if you don’t feel like dropping a few thousand dollars on a professional trainer), so I wanted to give my quick two cents!
I recently recommended this book to someone from this sub and then I decided to re-read it, it can’t hurt right?
As I was reading it I remembered how fun it ACTUALLY was doing all of the training with my Corso. We bonded so much and had an amazing time learning together!
So my two cents: train your Corsos on your own, dedicate the time it truly deserves, you won’t regret it!
If you don’t know where to start, definitely grab that book and go at it.
EDIT: here’s where I got it from:
