Just recently sailed on Resilient Lady and thought it might be helpful to share a bit of my experience.
I eat dairy- and gluten-free - EoE diagnosis - but do not avoid cross-contamination.
Overall, both the experience on board and during excursions was quite accommodating.
Many of the restaurants offer gluten-free dishes - indicated by “(gf)” on the menus - that can be modified to also exclude dairy-containing ingredients. Many restaurants offer vegan options - indicated by “(vv)” on the menus - in addition to dishes that are both gluten- and dairy-free.
Each day I had a matcha latte with Oatly oat milk. Almond and soy were also available but I can’t speak to exactly which brands were in use.
The crew was very attentive to dietary restrictions and asked multiple times throughout the cruise if anyone in our party had any allergies, and they were very receptive if you happened to mention it first.
Another go-to drink that I got multiple times was the Fill Me Up smoothie from the Athletic Club bar which contained chocolate Vega hemp protein, peanut butter, almond milk, and maca, and to which other boosts could be added like reishi mushrooms, MCT oil, spirulina, and more. Made for a great post-workout snack.
Any excursions where food was involved asked if we had any allergies and for the most part there were pretty great accommodations made. Kudos to Manousakis Winery as there was a miscommunication but they threw together an awesome salad in lieu of cheese and bread at the last minute.

hey all. had a minor reaction (tongue tingling) to a peanut butter cookie a few months ago for the first time ever and was positive for a peanut allergy yesterday. not too upset, as I’m 20 and have been avoiding peanuts for my whole life bc I just don’t like them, but definitely some nerves about this. i have some questions for you more experienced folk as this is all very new for me.
  1. my peanut ige is a 3.8. I understand that when I talk to my allergist next week I’ll get a much better answer, but I’m just curious as to what the basic significance of that is? Seems like I’m just barely in the “high” range—I assume I’ll get an epipen?
  2. I know I’m much more fortunate in terms of severity than a lot of people, but also know that there’s always a risk of anaphylaxis and so on. as someone who’s dealt with anxiety for my whole life, how do y’all best handle the stress that comes with this all the time? not being able to breathe is definitely not my preferred way to go.

Hey all, I've been hitting the gym for a few years but couldn't maintain a proper diet (stayed in hostel). But now since I'm able to, I've embarked on a cutting journey. I want to preserve my muscle as much as I can but wanna lose around 5 or 6 percent of fat. Here is my diet everyday: Breakfast: 5 eggs - scrambled, omelette, sunny side up I mix it up. No oil on pan Lunch: I have to eat outside so I usually eat 100g chicken gravy, 1 ragi ball or sometimes 1 chapati or sometimes a bowl of rice. I mix it up everyday but the chicken gravy is a constant. I have 2 bananas after this. Eve snacks before gym: 50g millet muesli(tata soulful one) Dinner: 300 to 350g chicken, no oil, just some spices, greek yogurt
Pre workout I take creatine. No other supplements
I'm just worried that my diet doesn't contain any veggies at all, or any other fruit apart from bananas. I'm no expert, just a noobie getting into this fitness world.
Should I be worried about anything, should I take any other supplements? I'm not taking veggies because I'm on a cut and all my protein comes from food. If I add veggies to this diet my calorie inatke would go up and we don't want that. Appreciate any suggestions or ideas <3

2024.05.19 06:57 agent-assbutt How a craving for school pizza made me angry about being a glass child

(note: this is an extremely self-absorbed and long-winded post centered on comparing my upbringing to my husband's upbringing and it contains mentions of eating disorders and lots of whining. This is word vomit, is not of value, and I will probably delete this soon).
Sometimes it's the little things that make me realize how... slightly different my upbringing was... in comparison to people who grew up with healthy siblings. For me, it was nostalgic school pizza.
I ate school lunch every day. Packing? Lol, no. My husband? He told me tonight that he never, like as in never ever, ate school lunch. His mom packed for him every single day - he got special sandwiches and casseroles and even sushi once or twice. Therefore, he has no nostalgia for school pizza, whereas I do, and I am about to spend $50 on some brand of pizza that apparently tastes just like it.
My husband was raised differently than me. He was raised by upper middle class parents, including his mom being SAHM for his entire life, and he and his sibling were both healthy their entire lives. My parents both worked in law enforcement/social work adjacent jobs, both working nights sometimes, and they had city and nonprofit pay, aka we were probably lower middle class. I also had an extremely ill sibling for the duration of middle school and the first year of high school.
As a child, my husband was never left alone. He didn't stay home alone until he was 14. He never had to stay alone for days and weeks like I did. We lived in a rural area too, so I was far from town and couldn't go anywhere. While my sibling was hospitalized two hours away or at various appointments, they'd come home late at night most days. There were weeks in the summer where they were home maybe 6 hours a week and I was alone with neighbors and my aunt checking in every other day. Sometimes they sent me to day camp in the summer and I'd be the last one picked up. I always went to day camp because I suspect overnight camp cost too much - my sibling's illness was expensive. If I wasn't at day camp, I was alone all the time during summer and after school. This lasted four years.
Honestly, it wasn't that bad at the time. I felt like it was my house and I walked the dogs and stayed up late and ate frozen foods and went swimming in our above ground pool. I had two close friends in the neighborhood and I'd spend time with them when I could. I got a job when I was 15 and my friend's mom picked me up and drove me back and forth from work until I got my license. I was online A LOT and was in chat rooms and meeting randos on message boards as young as 12. I even got into web design and taught myself a few basic programming languages. Honestly, I was kind of raised by the Internet
I also ate school lunch every day. I know how to poke a milk bag perfectly. I am constantly nostalgic for the nuggets, pizza, and Bosco sticks of my middle and high school cafeterias. My parents would give me money at the beginning of the week and I'd map my school lunch plan out. Lunch was the highlight of my day for awhile. I ate a lot of Bosco sticks. My school also had a vending machine, so I drank lots of Dr. Pepper too. I honestly got pretty fat. Until I wasn't, because somehow (the Internet), I calculated the calories of everything at my school cafeteria, and then only nutrigrain bars and an apple were safe. I ate Bosco sticks at least weekly though - I craved them even when I was starving myself. I just didn't usually keep them down and I'll leave it at that.
School pizza though. School pizza isn't tainted like Bosco sticks. It was different pizza every week in high school so I never knew the calories. Thus I didn't eat it after first semester of high school. Even after I was "recovering" and my sibling got better, meaning suddenly I wasn't being raised by the Internet anymore, I avoided school pizza. The memories I have are from 2000 and pizza day at my elementary school stands as a consistently pleasant memory. I make pizzas now. Good pizzas. I love pizza. I've made it for my husband, parents, and sibling.
Never school pizza though.
I want to try $50 nostalgic pizza.
My husband says it's probably gross and not worth $50.
He never had to do meal planning when he was 12 and alone for weeks at a time though.

  2. 8 Week Lacto Fermented Red
  3. Charred Red with Hot Garlic honey
  4. Partially active Brine fermented Red with ginger and hot honey
  5. Sweet Heat- hot sauce made from the byproduct of making garlic hot honey. Heavy with garlic, onion, and honey.
  6. Peruvian Peanut- roasted organic raw peanuts and homemade peanut butter.
  7. Experimental holiday hot sauce - fermented cranberry and cinnamon.

2024.05.19 06:29 he2s22p4_waster Advice in getting puppy to eat bigger treats/foods with out hand assistance.

I got a puppy a few months ago (his now 5 months old) and Ive been trying to give him bigger treats like puppy jerky or soft treat balls (banana, peanut butter and oat balls), these are all fairly soft and not overly large so he should be easily able to eat them himself but he insist on me holding them while he slowly eats them bit by bit, if i don't he will whine and get distressed carrying the food/treat around my feet. I either have to cut them up into small almost kibble size pieces or feed it by hand. This as you can image although cute can be a bit troublesome at times.
I also worry this may become an ongoing habit as he gets older and transitioning to bigger bones and such when older will be something I wont want to hold for him. I will also add, in spite this habit he has no issues finding sticks in the yard to chew on his own the same size, smaller and bigger as well as his toys, this is specifically food/treats that he is doing it with. This is also a recent issue that's only come about the past month, he had no issues eating puppy jerky on his own before that. Any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.19 06:10 SavingsMastodon8631 Feeling hungry but also like I’m overeating?

I’ve been intermittent fasting for a while, but recently I’ve changed my diet and started eating healthier and I’ve noticed that I’m becoming hungrier more often but also getting bloated?
I’m not really sure what the issue is.
I’m supposed to eat around 2000 calories per day to maintain my weight.
I usually start eating at around 4 pm, lately sometimes it’s later like 5 or 6.
I try to eat small meals, but it doesn’t always work well since I usually don’t have a lot of time between meals.
For example: today the first thing I ate, at around 5 pm was 2 sandwiches with sourdough bread, chicken, and avocado.
Then like 30 min later I had greek yogurt with protein powder. And then right after THAT, I had oatmeal with berries.
I don’t know if that was too much for the day, and I probably ate too quickly, but somehow I still feel hungry? And now it’s almost time for me to go to sleep, so do I eat more or resist the urge to? How am I supposed to know how much to eat?

It's time baby. You've been with me 8 years, 6 months, and 13 days since Jared brought you home and you became my cat. My baby. You were only about 2 months old according to the vet so I decided September 1st was your birthday.
Tomorrow we have to part ways. I see that you haven't been feeling well for a little while now. Today really proved that. It was raining, and you didn't even want to go outside. That's not like you Oliver. You love going outside, even in the rain. You're a cat that loves water.
You barely ate today, mostly eating the chicken I brought to you. You spent the day sleeping behind the closet door. I made sure to put your blanket down in there so it was extra soft and comfy.
We spent time together in that cramped little closet today. I've apologized a million times for all the moments I lost my cool with you not because you escaped, yet again, but just because I was frustrated and yelled at you. You didn't deserve that, and I can never take it back. The apologies will never be enough.
We talked about the good times. The time I woke up in the middle of the night sandwiched between you and Bella. My orange boy snuggled up on side, and my pittie, like a block of concrete on the other. Neither one of you budged when I wiggled my way out from under the covers to go pee, or wiggled my way back in. Or the times you climbed the big arborvitae tree in the backyard and made your way onto the garage roof. Or you just climbed up as far as you could go and needed me to come up and get you. You laying on my shoulders when we went to the pet store. The millions of times you came to greet me at the door and launched yourself up into my arms or climbed onto my shoulders from on top of the fridge.
My two favorites being 1) the couple of times you slept under the covers with me. And 2) the time I tried to make you sit with me and watch Oliver and Company. The movie I named you after. You didn't go for it, so I watched it alone.
There's so many more memories that I'll forever cherish. The snuggles, the baths, chasing you around the neighborhood.
Time has flown, and yet it was never enough. You're just snoozing away in the cat climber right now, and tomorrow night when I look up, you won't be there. Not physically anyway. I feel the immense pain of having to lose you. It feels like every fiber of my being is being ripped to shreds. This is worse than childbirth.
It hurts to know Caleb will never really know you. There's a few pictures, and you've let him touch you a couple times. You've even snuggled his head a few times in the nights... after trying to play with and nibble on it. I love him, but I feel horribly guilty that these past 5 months I haven't been able to give you the same amount of love and attention as I used to. Going outside as often as we once did hasn't been easy since moving into the apartment and especially after the baby.
You were never a placeholder. You are now, always have been, and forever will be my first baby Oliver.
Oliver, Ollie, Ol, Pookie, Pooks, Fluffernutter, Fluff, Chonk, Chonker. Fluffernut. Nutter butter. The cat I swear I should have named Dennis the Menace. My orange boy.
I don't want you to go. I don't know how to do this without you. I don't WANT to do it without you. But I promised you I'd always protect you. I'd never let anything happen to you; that Momma's got you. And the truth is, if I let things go the way they've been, I'll have broken that promise. And I'll have been the one who hurt you because I was too selfish to let you go with dignity. I can't do that to you. I won't.
So in the morning, we'll go outside for the sunrise if you're up for it. We'll have some yogurt together. I'll hold you close. And when our time is at the close, I'll be right beside you. In the comfort of our own home. Together, with daddy and Caleb, and Kitty nearby. I'll be with you until the end. Always.
I love you Pooks. More than anything. Thank you for our time together. Come find me again.
