2024.05.18 23:56 Content-Ad-1334 Job pretty much admits I'm invaluable but doesn't give me any incentive to stay and tells other departments they can't have me...
Sorry for the long rant, but I just discovered something and I'm steamed. I've been at my job for over 12 years. I have been in my current position for over 7. I am currently the only full time trainer for company at my certification level. I train all new employees as well as do continuing education for our current employees. There is another full time trainer at a lower level and then multiple per diem trainers who pick up shifts here and there. My boss clearly prefers my counterpart as they frequently have meetings without me despite my skills being useful in those meetings. He's closer to her age and they I guess they just get along better (I'm older than my boss). My yearly review was due over the winter and I still haven't received it despite getting a raise (company wide raise to everyone at my level) and my counterpart received his. I have been actively looking to promote to either supervisor or out of the department. Promoting to supervisor would give me a worse schedule (probably weekends) and I have a toddler who I want to enjoy time with.
I easily have the credentials to do my boss's job but it seems like the hierarchy here does not allow me to jump over the supervisor position.
I recently attended a training class where the instructor was showing new programs and technology for online learning that is going to be rolled out for the entire company (extremely large healthcare system of almost 90k employees). I have been an admin for the previous program and have been developing education for 7 years now so I would still be doing that for my current department. The head instructor mentioned a specialized team is being formed to transfer all current education to the new program and then to continue creating content for the entire company. After the class was over I approached the instructor to clarify and item or two and she admitted that she wanted me to be on that team and requested me specifically because I took to the old program well and I have the credentials to be important to the team. I was so excited as this is exactly something I'm looking to transition to do. She then proceeded to tell me that not one but two people at the manager and director level told her I could not be on her team as I am "the only one who does what I do and I can't be lost."
This pissed me off to no end. I'm stuck in a job that I get little recognition for, and no lead titles or stipends for the extra work I do/credentials I have. We used to have a training department of 6 at my level and now we've downsized to myself and someone less certified. I do the work of 3 people and get nothing out of it. The company touts itself as a place that is all about helping people promote and move up and yet I'm being held down. So frustrating.
Only silver ray is that when the job is posted publicly I can apply and hopefully get in.

2024.05.18 23:29 PuzzledAd4865 My review of the entire 90s anime
I've just finished a full rewatch of the Viz dub including the movies and specials, having watched a mix of the OG English dub + some of the sub as a child, but never in order all the way through. Here is my review no one asked for:
Classic: Great intro to the characters, loved it when the plot was somewhat moving, and the relationship between the guardians was really well developed. I found the Jadeite/Nephrite arcs really dragged at points, however once the Rainbow Crystal arc rolled around things really get going. I wish we could have seen a bit more flirtation/romance between Mamoru and Usagi. The finale was simply stunning and emotional, bringing me to tears.
Favourite filler episode: "Love and Chased: Luna's Worst Day Ever"
Favourite plot episode: "The Shining Silver Crystal: The Moon Princess Appears"
Special mention: "Usagi's Eternal Wish: A Brand New Life"
Sailor Moon R: I quite enjoyed the Makai Tree arc, however as above I found it a bit of a missed opportunity with Mamoru/Usagi and romance. Once again, the beginning of the season was overall a bit rough. And Chibiusa... while her behaviour was understandable it wasn't enjoyable to watch. And the less said about the break-up arc the better. The Black Moon Clan were pretty cool though, and Chibiusa definitely improved as the season went on.
Favourite filler episode: "Venus Minako's Nurse Mayhem"
Favourite plot episode: "Saphir Dies: Wiseman's Trap"
Special mention: "Usagi's Crisis: The Tiara Stops Working"
Sailor Moon S: I mean what can I say that hasn't been said before? The peak of the series - from the first episode you feel the raised stakes and improved production values. The Outer Senshi steal every scene they're in, the pure heart crystals format adds an emotional character driven layer to even the monster of the week episodes. The Death-Busters make hilarious but compelling villains, and the Hotaru arc is utterly captivating. Chibiusa is also handled far better - her friendship with Hotaru is her at her best.
Best filler episode: "Coldhearted Uranus: Makoto in Danger"
Best plot episode: "The Shining Shooting Star: Saturn and the Messiah"
Special mention: "The Death of Uranus and Neptune: The Talismans Appear"
Sailor Moon SuperS: Now I heard everyone hates this one, and honestly it wasn't as bad as I expected. The animation and music are gorgeous, and the slice of life comedic episodes are mostly done really well. I also love the villains, especially Fish's Eye. However I do find the focus on Chibiusa grating at times (although still better than R!) and Pegasus/Helios... eh. The worst crime for me is no Outers - why?? I really felt their absence, and I think having Hotaru aroudn could have made Chibiusa stuff a bit more compelling. Overall I enjoyed this season for what it was, but it did drag at points.
Best filler episode: "Storm of Love: Minako's Grand Two-Timing Plan"
Best plot episode: "Dreams Forever: Fill the Heavens with Light"
Special mention: "Shadow of Evil: The Trio's Last Chance"
Sailor Moon Stars: Ok, so this one was back with a bang - the Outers are back, and the stakes are higher than ever. The Nehelenia arc in this season is pretty much peak Sailor moon. Then the Galaxia arc - I enjoyed the Starlights (well I mostly enjoyed Seiya) and it was interesting to add a different dynamic to the group. Sailor Aluminium Siren and Crow were two of my overall favs, and I liked that we were back to dramatic high stakes like in S. The end was beautiful, and I may have shed a tear.
Best filler episode: "A Night Alone Together: Usagi in Danger"
Best plot episode: "Usagi's Love: The Moonlight Illuminates the Galaxy"
Special mention: "Night of Destiny: The Sailor Guardians' Ordeals"
I loved all of the movies and specials - the R movie and Ami's First Love are the peak of the entire series animation wise for me.
My rankings of the seasons: 1. S 2. Stars 3. Classic 4. SuperS 5. R
My rankings of the movies: 1. R 2. S 3. SuperS
So those are my thoughts! Don't know what I'm going to do with myself now - read the manga or watch Crystal?! Would love to hear all of your thoughts on the series too :)

2024.05.18 21:24 PhanzGFX Why play comp if you dont care to improve / try?
For the past couple of months I have gone back and forth with friends about why they play competitive. Something I cant particularly wrap my head around is those who say "I play for fun". Which is fine, we all play for fun to some degree, but it is the same people who have zero interest in taking advice, improving their gameplay, don't want to practice aiming, no vod review, and have all of these extremely glaring bad habits. Then on top of that they want to be upset that they aren't climbing in rank. I'm just of the mindset that it would be messed up of me to queue comp and not take it at least semi seriously for the sake of my teammates. I don't think people would appreciate having teammates who aren't good or at the bare minimum relative to them in skill. Its a team-based game, why not do the best you can for your team?
Imo, and its just my opinion (everyone else is welcome to do what they like and its valid) but like if you just want to play Valorant for fun then why not just play Swift / Unrated / Escalation / Replication / spike rush / etc? You are essentially playing the same game with nothing on the line. The only reasonable argument ive heard for playing comp with the "for fun, no grind" mindset is that you end up playing with people closer to your rank. While this is true, theres an equal level of a smurfing problem in comp at lower elos lol. To me it is just gambling both your RR and your Teammates RR just for fun.
Again like don't get me wrong, I play comp for fun but also the grind and wanting to improve as a player. I can't fathom playing a game and just actively being like "im not good at this thing I play a lot, oh well" and not even looking to improve even slightly / or play a bit smarter / seek out information that I wouldn't necessarily know just from playing. And naturally theres a range of how much time and effort someone wants to put into any video game, not saying we gotta be out here like pros lol or sweating it up in every single match. That is just me and how I operate as a player, I seek knowledge and improvement.Mind you I am a P3/D1 player and a lot of the people I talk to with this mindset at Iron-Silver, so maybe its a ranked thing? But aint that the same area of ranks were all of us had inflated egos and felt like we deserved way higher? What happened to us actually tryna push to achieve those goals / prove we did deserve higher?
Curious though if there are aspects of this that I am missing out on, or people who see it differently, those who agree and why. People can play how they want to but id be lying if that whole thing didnt feel kinda backwards to me.

2024.05.18 21:15 Trick_Weapon Blazers Offseason Trade Preview and Partners - Long Form
In this second part of my "series", I am taking a look at the potential trades for the Blazers. If you'd like to read the first part on Toumani Camara, the link is here:
Offseason Review: Toumani Camara : ripcity (reddit.com) Without a clear consensus on draft prospects where 8-10 guys are all within the same tier, this draft cycle will see a lot of teams looking to move around and potentially trade down. The Blazers are in a unique position with 4 picks in the top-40, a few veteran players which will interest teams, and an all-star caliber player they might be looking to trade away. Now that the order is settled, I want to look at the Blazers assets, objectives, and 5 teams who are likely trade partners.
Primary Trade Assets:
- #7, #14, #34, #40 - The Blazers are in a good position to add talent in this year's draft and have a lot of flexibility to move around. At 7, they'll be able to draft one of those top tier players. At 14, there will be a at least one or two swings (Saluan, Missi, Williams, Dadiet, etc.) as well as really solid players (Carter, McCain, Da Silva, Knecht) available depending on who falls vs. rises. The two second round picks give us the opportunity to move up into the late first or might be valuable enough to move up a couple slots from #7 or #14.
- Malcom Brogdon â Brogdon is in his final year for $22M. He is a 6MOTY caliber player which every single playoff team could use on their roster. So much so that, of all the teams remaining, he would play big minutes for all of them except Boston. He also has value to teams like Detroit who could use a veteran presence. His expiring deal gives the team flexibility to another team's reduce cap long term, trade at the deadline in a larger package, or look to extend on a more team friendly deal with bird rights. The general consensus is he is worth a mid to late first round pick, such as a lottery protected first round pick from a contender.
- Anfernee Simons â Simons has two years left of an AAV of $26M. Some fans think Simons is not worth much. I would disagree. Simons is one of a handful of players who generates elite on and off ball gravity in the NBA. Any team he goes to, he would transform their offensive spacing. Weâll talk about fits in a bit, but I would look for a Dejounte Murray like package; a high-end prospect and 2 good draft picks.
- Jerami Grant â Grant is owed 4 years with an AAV of $32M. NBA media types like to call that out as an overpay, but Grantâs salary as a percentage of cap will decrease through the length of the contract as the cap rises. Grant is another player who instantly improves a contender as a third option. I would aim for at least one good first round pick, a decent prospect, and potentially a pick swap.
- Robert Williams III â Timelord is on a great contract â 2 years with an AAV of $12M. With his injury history, his value is hard to determine, but his contract makes it an easy trade piece. Steven Adams got 3 second round picks, so I think that is his floor. He is likely worth more to the Blazers than other teams at this juncture.
- Matisse Thybulle â Thybulle is another tradeable contract â 2 years with an AAV of $11M. The second year is a player option. I do not see him having negative value on that deal, but we are looking at 1-2 second round picks + a flier prospect.
- Jabari Walker â I like Jabari, but in the context of our rebuild, he is the odd man out. I think he might have some value in the league for a real future second.
- Dalano Banton â Similar to Jabari, he was a great find this year. With his performance, could be a good sweetener in a trade or be able to trade for a real future second round pick.
Offseason Objectives
Not only are assets important, but the overall objectives of the offseason. The way I see it, here are the Blazers objectives:
- Get more high-end talent, trading up may help guarantee us getting the best players we can. We should also aim to get a high caliber player who has already shown flashes in the NBA on a rookie scale deal.
- Get more shooting, we should definitely keep at least one of Brogdon, Grant, or Simons. I am in favor of trading Simons as he has the most value, and Grant / Brogdon are essential to giving our young guys enough spacing to develop. I also highly value shooting in this draft for that reason. The more spacing we have; the more likely Scoot and Sharpe develop into dudes.
- Get under the luxury tax. There is a lot of consternation and clickbait discussion the salary situation. It is massively overblown â the bigger priority is to simply consolidate the roster down to 14 active players. If we kept our two current first round picks, and cut Jabari and Banton, our salary would be: $172.6M. The Luxury tax threshold is 171.3M, a difference of just $1.3M.
- Consolidate roster / draft picks. We have 14 players on the roster with 4 draft picks. We should aim to consolidate around more high-end talent.
- Get more picks in 2025 / 2026. These are great drafts, and we'll have a better idea of our needs next year.
- (Nice to have) Get the future first unlocked from the Bulls. There is no urgency on the Blazers part to part with the pick. There is a chance it never conveys into a first (silver lining of us being terrible!). If it does, it is outside the lottery, and we are a good team. That said, if there is an opportunity for us to trade a second round pick this year to get control of that pick back, it is not a bad move.
With that in mind, letâs talk about 5 trade partners who I think we will be having constant conversations with: Philadelphia, Detroit, Orlando, Detroit, Chicago, and Memphis.
Please note all these trades are frameworks, the point is really to think about the primary value each team is getting back, along with the matching salary. The exact number of picks, the type of picks, the filler contracts, and the sweeteners are really guess-work. I wouldn't read too much into it.
Philadelphia: - Cap Space: Up to $65M.
- Draft Assets: #16, #41
- The 76ers can trade their 2024 first-round pick (16) starting the night of the draft. They also have the least favorable 2026 first from Oklahoma City, Houston (if 5-30) and the Clippers. They are owed an unprotected first from the Clippers in 2028 and have the right to swap firsts with LA in 2029 (if 4-30). In total, Philadelphia can trade up to five firsts starting in late June.
- Targets: Brogdon, Grant, RWIII
- Explainer: Philadelphia has a ton of cap space. They will likely make a run at George, LeBron, maybe Derozan, but if they strike out, they will want to look at the trade market. Grant feels like an ideal fit to pair with Maxey and Embiid. Brogdon is another option for them. This might be a good trade destination for Jabari and / or Banton, who can provide them with good depth to rebuild their roster on very team friendly contracts as sweeteners.
- Trades:
- Jerami Grant, Jabari Walker, Dalano Banton for #16, Least Favorable 2026 FRP, lottery protected 2030 FRP
- The Blazers get a pick this year, a pick next year, and a highly valuable first-round swap. To be honest, I have no idea the particulars here, but the point being is Grant for draft capital
- Malcom Brogdon for #16, 2027 second round from MIL, 2030 SRP from PHI.
- I could see us going for that least favorable 2026 FRP as well by including one or both our seconds.
Detroit: - Cap Space: Up to $66M.
- Draft Assets: #5, #53
- Detroit owes a first-round pick to New York that is top-12 protected in 2025, top-10 protected in 2026 and top-nine protected in 2027. The next available first-round pick the Pistons can trade is in 2029. They have no incoming first-round picks via trade. They have nine second-round picks available.
- Targets: Anfernee Simons, Malcom Brogdon
- Explainer: Detroit also has a ton of cap space, a lack of shooting, and a lack of veteran leadership. They could really use either Anfernee Simons or Malcom Brogdon. Simons is an ideal fit next to Cade to unlock the spacing Cade desperately needs. Detroit is also overhauling their front office, so who knows which players they value vs which they do not.
- Proposed Trades:
- Anfernee Simons & #14 for #5 and Ausar Thompson
- If the Pistons insist on keeping Ausar, Ivey is the player I would want. I would not include #14 in that scenario. Again, who knows how the new FO thinks about Ausar / Ivey.
- Malcom Brogdon & #7 for #5 and 2-3 SRP
- This trade assumes the Blazers have a target in mind at #5 they really want who might not make it to 7. Beyond that, the major benefit is giving the team substantially more cap and roster flexibility. It is possible we could include some real sweeteners, like Kris Murray, to move up from #14 to #5. We could also look to include #16 assuming we get it from PHI in a Grant trade. In that scenario, we would have to get one shooter like Risacher, Sheppard, or Knecht for one of those top 2 picks.
Orlando
- Cap Space: Up to $35 million
- Draft Assets: #18, #47
- The Magic are one of seven teams that control their own first-round pick over the next seven years. They can also trade swap rights each year. The Nuggets owe the Magic a first-round pick. It is top-5 protected in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Orlando has the right to swap its 2026 first for the less favorable of Phoenix and Washington. Orlando has 12 second-round picks available.
- Targets: Anfernee Simons, Malcom Brogdon
- Explainer: Much has been made of Anfernee Simons to the Magic, and for good reason. Aside from him being from Orlando, much like with Cade, Simons would unlock Paolo and Franz in a real way. For the Blazers, the Magicâs major draft assets and young talent of Anthony Black and Jett Howard are enticing. Brogdon is another option here if the Magic are looking for a one-year player to give them veteran leadership and spacing with more long-term flexibility.
- Proposed Trades:
- Anfernee Simons, #40 for Anthony Black, #18, 2025 unprotected FRP, 2030 pick swap.
- Blazers get exactly what they are looking for, a major trade up in 2024, a high value prospect, a 2025 first, and a pick swap far into the future. Some do not think Black will fit with the Blazers, but that is a problem down the road. Let us see how he plays with our other core. Given how well Banton played, Black could be a much better version of him. Banton may also be a sweetener in the deal. Blazers could look to take on Cole Anthonyâs contract as well to give the magic more cap flexibility. Another permutation could see RWII be swapped for WCJ or Thybulle.
- Malcom Brogdon, RWIII for a 2025 lottery protected FRP, WCJ.
- The Blazers accomplished two goals here. They get another FRP in 2025. While it may be lower in order, it is possible Orlando will take a small step back. Something in the late teens is very valuable in next yearâs draft. We also gain cap flexibility, and swap RWIII for WCJ who have extremely similar contracts.
Chicago
- Cap Space: Likely none.
- Draft Assets: #11
- The Bulls can trade their own 2024 first-round pick starting on the night of the draft. They owe a first-round pick to the Spurs that is top-10 protected in 2025 and top-8 protected in 2026 or 2027. They are owed a first-round pick from Portland that is top-14 protected over the next four years. If the first is not conveyed, the Trail Blazers will send a 2028 second. The Bulls have three second-round picks available.
- Targets: Jerami Grant, Malcom Brogdon, Matisse Thybulle, Deandre Ayton
- Explainer: The Bulls are looking to still be competitive enough to sell seats and be stuck in mediocrity. They are likely looking to build around Coby White. The Blazers have plenty of high-level role players which could be interesting. For the Blazers, they could target trading up from 14 to 11, targeting Pat Williams in a S&T, and getting that flexibility back as a Sweetener.
- Proposed Trades:
- #34, 2028 SRP for the rights for the Blazers pick back
- The Bulls might really like someone at 34 and value it as a first-round pick value. If that is the case, and the Blazers are not as enamored with someone in that range, it is advantageous for both sides to resolve the pick now.
- Malcom Brogdon, #14 for Lonzo Ball, #11, rights to the Blazers pick back.
- Like the above trade, the Bulls might value bringing in Brogdon to improve their roster. All it costs them is dumping Lonzoâs contract, moving 3 spots back in the draft, and the Blazers pick back. Blazers could put in #40 as a sweetener.
- Patrick Williams S&T (5 years - ~$125M), Jevon Carter, Dalen Terry, for Jerami Grant
- This trade is a bit more complicated, but the framework is Patrick Williams for Jerami Grant. If the Blazers are high on Williams and the Bulls might not want to commit to him, the Bulls get an immediate upgrade to âwin now.â The additional salary could come from a few different angles, but I would like to also like to get Dalen Terry or Julian Phillips as a sweetener. If Williams gets a bit more salary, then less salary filler is necessary. High risk, High reward for Blazers.
Memphis
- Cap Space: Likely None
- Trade Exception: The Grizzlies have a $12.6 million dollar trade exception from the Steven Adams, which RWIII and Thybulle can fit into.
- Draft Assets: #9, #39, #57
- The Grizzlies control their own first-round picks over the next seven years. They also have the right to swap their own 2026 first for the less favorable of Phoenix, Orlando, and Washington. The Grizzlies also have the right to swap their own 2030 first for the less favorable of the Suns and Wizards. Memphis has six second-round picks available.
- Targets: #7, RWIII, Matisse Thybulle
- Explainer: Memphis may be incentivized to trade-up a couple slots if they are enamored with Donovon Clingan (or another prospect) and he is there at #7. They also might be interested in trading back to #14 if they are more interested in a center available in that range, such as Missi, Edey, Ware, etc. I have a feeling this is a team that will target Edey given their history of valuing analytics and not caring as much about physical attributes.
- Proposed Trades:
- #7 for #9 and Vince Williams Jr
- Sam Vecenie proposed this trade. The Blazers move back two slots and get a good young wing.
- #14 and RWIII OR Matisse Thybulle for #9
- The Grizzles got another win-now player for moving back 5 spots and utilizing their trade exception.
I think my next post will be my NBA draft big board. Please share your thoughts below, and if you are curious about any other potential trade partners, happy to think about them more!

2024.05.18 20:43 Constant-Biscotti My Personal Color Palette from John Kitchener.
I just received my color palette from John Kitchener this week. For those unfamiliar with Kitchener, he does not use seasonal color analysis and instead creates customized color palettes for all of his clients using his Color Harmony system. I was drawn to his system, because although I like my Winter palette, I find it a bit too limiting, as I know there are colors outside of it that suit me. I was also interested in his style essence system, though Iâll stick to talking about the colors in this post. My Color Harmonies are 75% Striking Contrast, 15% Subtle Blended, and 10% Earthy Rich. The Striking Contrast comes from the saturated intensity of my coloring and the high contrast between my light skin, and very dark hair and eye color. The Subtle Blended makes the colors cooler and a bit more subtle/less intense. The Earthy Rich adds some depth and warmth, though the palette is overall cooler than warmer. I donât think this palette fits perfectly into any season, but to me it looks like a mix of Cool Winter and Deep Winter. The upper row is my colors and the bottom row is my neutrals. They are separated into categories like Romantic, Powerful, Playful, Reserved, etc. Iâm not going to go through all of them, but there were some interesting things I noticed comparing my palette to other peopleâs. Although everyone gets the same categories, some people get more pages than others. For example, I only have one page of Playful colors consisting of a limited number of yellows. Iâve seen other palettes with two or three pages of playful colors consisting of yellows, greens, and blues. However, I also have three pages of Sophisticated colors while some other palettes have less. Another thing I noticed was that the Calm colors (bottom left) are in my neutrals while other people have their Calm palette in the top with their colors. The Calm palette is the colors found in the eyes, so I guess my eyes are more neutral while others have brighter eyes. When it comes to black and white, Kitchener says I can wear black in large amounts, and eggshell, ivory, and oyster white in half body amounts. Pure white was too harsh for me which was surprising, as Winters are supposed to be able to wear pure white. I can also wear shiny silver, platinum, and 18-24 karat gold, though the cooler metals are better. Also surprising, as I donât like the way gold looks on me, though that may just be personal preference. Disharmonious colors for me are coral, orange, orange-red, beige, olive, and camel. One of my favorite discoveries was learning I can pull off blended patterns (though high contrast patterns are better).I have a watercolor floral shirt that I like very much, and Iâm happy to know it will still be flattering on me. Overall, I am very happy with my palette and Iâve already started online shopping with it. I enjoy it a lot more than my seasonal palette! submitted by Constant-Biscotti to coloranalysis [link] [comments]

2024.05.18 18:24 willy--wonka Mid-Fi DAC Battle for Quicksilver Headphone Amp (or any Tube Amp) - Opinions Wanted
Current Situation: I have a Quicksilver Headphone Amp on the way. My current DAC is a Schiit Modi and I am looking to upgrade to something more complimentary to the Quicksilver HA.
Quicksilver Headphone Amp:
https://quicksilveraudio.com/products/headphone-amplifie Source: PC > Tidal > DAC > HD650 (Expanding Headphone Collection Next)
Music Preference: Agnostic to Genre, Lean towards Americana/Bluegrass, Vocal Performance, Rock, Metal, and Classical.
Sonic Preference: More Emotion/Soul compared to clinical transparency, The Quicksilver HA is stated to have a little deficiency in the bass department in exchange for better Mid/Highs, so I am hoping to compensate that with the DAC. Additionally, although it is a tube amp it is supposedly quite neutral.
I have narrowed it down to three options based solely on reviews and will not be able to audition either prior to purchase because I am a lone ranger in my audio journey. I leave out my considerations, as I am not looking for confirmation bias (or am I?) and these are in no particular order:
Option 1: Schiit Bifrost 2/64 - $829 (Silver Version, bc âaestheticsâ)
https://www.schiit.com/products/bifrost Option 2: Denafrips Ares II 12th-1 - $1,002 https://www.denafrips.com/ares-12th Option 3: Holo Audio Cyan 2 - $1,198 https://www.kitsunehifi.com/product/holo-audio-cyan-2-dac/ Thanks in advance for your thoughts and I am looking forward to ending the research phase and enjoying the system!

2024.05.18 17:48 Ok-Place7279 fragrance and seller review
Hey guys! Bought around 9-10 frags this month and the four in the picture are from yogesh kumari(fragdiction). Havnât posted anything for a long time in this sub so decided to do little frag review plus my thoughts on yogesh as a seller. Roja Parfums Burlington 1819: 9/10 What does a rich man smell like? What would the word âwealthâ smell like? This. This right here would be my answer to that question. This one smells simple but at the same time its complex and luxurious smelling. Really hard to describe it into a few words but Iâll try my best. An extremely complex natural perfume, that smells woody, spicy and ambery with a citrus heavy opening. This would suit a man in his 30s and higher wearing casual clothes and not for an 18 year old like me but man do I love wearing this. A fresh clean scent does not really last very long but thats where this shines, easily lasts 12-15 hours on skin with decent projection. Should you buy this? Iâd say try it first. If you are not into spicy fragrances Iâd say dont bother even trying cus thats the main kinda thing of this perfume. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Lâhomme A la rose: 9.5/10 Florals were traditionally always used for womenâs perfumes. Rose especially, smells very feminine to the human nose. Francis Kurkdjian took a creative approach here, and tried to make a masculine smelling rose fragrance. I was surprised the first time i smelled this. I did not expect the perfume to actually focus so much on rose. I thought rose would just be one of the notes here, but no, Rose was THE DOMINANT note here. The smell took me back to my childhood, as I still remember the smell of rose water my grandma had, which is quite what lhomme a la rose is trying to be imo. A fresh, clean scent that focuses on rose, smells sexy and is very approriate for a professional environment. Lasts around 7-8 hours with loud projection for the first two hours and then settling to a skin scent. Who should buy this? Anyone. A teenager, an adult or an old man, this would go well with any age group imo. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Masculin Pluriel: 8/10 This is the barbershop fragrances by the mfk line. Traditional barbershop dna(doesnt smell like the expensive salons but more like the bihari owned saloons near my place and I honestly love that about this), extremely smooth and radiant. This would again, suit an older gentleman wearing a suit better than it would on me. Not really my cup of tea but i can still always appreciate the masterful perfumery done here. I will not sell it ever though, since i plan on always owning a barbershop kinda frag. Eagered to try sartorial by penhaligon, another barbershop fragrance that I believe I will like more. Performs great, 7-8 hours of longevity with medium projection. Creed Silver Mountain Water: 9.5/10 The sexiest creed I have ever smelled hands down. A fresh, clean soapy scent that smells extremely attractive to the feminine nose. My girlfriend loves this. when i told her im wearing something that smells âsoapyâ, she made a face but when she came close to smell it, she was instantly in love with it. I heard there were some performance issues eith this but it lasted 7-8 hours easily on my skin with intimate projection. Maybe my skin chem goes well with creed idk. Anyways I think this smells very youthful. If you have the budget, you should really go for it. testers go for around 13k. Seller review- Yogesh Kumari If you are looking to get the best prices on niche fragrances and high end designers, you should join her facebook group fragdiction. She and pranay really have the best prices among all the sellers when it comes to niche fragrances. She also does air shipping which is included in the price so expect your perfumes to arrive in 2-3 days. She is very easy to deal with, responds eithout much delay and is always ready to listen. I did a prebooking but when the frags arrived, i told her that I would not be at home for a while and will only be able to take the package after i return. She agreed and never asked for any payment while i wasnt at home, never complained or anything and simply trusted me that i would do it once im back. I really appreciate that. submitted by Ok-Place7279 to DesiFragranceAddicts [link] [comments]

2024.05.18 17:19 6Kgraydays GMG Reviews - The Silver Bayonet: Egypt by Osprey Games
2024.05.18 17:17 gizzlyxbear Treasure Planet (2002)
Treasure Planet and The Black Cauldron are the poster-children of the Disney Black Sheep. These are the films that Disney either failed to turn a profit on, marketed poorly, reneged on, or just outright buried. In the case of Treasure Planet, itâs the latter of the four. This is not a film Disney wanted made. When directors Ron Clements and John Musker first pitched the film to Michael Eisner in 1985(!) at the same time as The Little Mermaid, it was turned down as Paramount was developing a similar idea (that would go unproduced). Four years later in 1989, they pitched the idea again, but there was still no interest. After the release of Aladdin a few years later, the duo would once again pitch their idea, only this time to chief of the studio, Jeffery Katzenberg. He would also turn down the pitch. Angered by the constant rejection, the directors would finally pitch the idea to Feature Animation chairman and Waltâs nephew, Roy E. Disney. Finally, Disney agreed to back their film and made his wishes known to Eisner and the rest. After a few more years, the directorsâ contracts would be re-negotiated and they would be told they could start work on Treasure Planet only once Hercules reached completion. Another hurdle to jump through, but there was light at the end of the tunnel now. Not everything would go off without a hitch, though. The filmâs marketing and release could not have been weaker. Between Disneyâs choice to do the bare minimum marketing and the choice to release in between Spider-Man and Star Wars: Episode II and at the same time as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets cut the film off at the legs before it even had a chance to walk, let alone run. Marketing would primarily consist of food product tie-ins and a single teaser trailer released online in April 2002. Of the tie-ins, there were primarily McDonaldâs action figures, graphics on Pepsi soda packaging, Dreyerâs limited ice cream flavors, and branded spoons in marked Kelloggâs cereal boxes. Again, Disney didnât want this film made; it feels like punishing the directors for stepping out of line. The movie itself is part of the dying breed that is adventure movies. These are becoming fewer and fewer by the year, with the last two big ones to come out in recent years doing well monetarily, but poorly critically: Uncharted and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. But, in the early aughts, there was still a small ember going to keep the genre alive before it exploded in popularity again with Pirates of the Caribbean a year later; also a Disney production. As an adventure movie, though, Treasure Planet effectively captures a sense of wonder and exploration. While some of the worldbuilding leaves something to be desired, the character stories and interactions are the most compelling part of the narrative. Bringing those characters to life are a number of talented actors in the booth. A couple of roles, specifically Dr. Doppler and Captain Amelia, were created with their actors on mind for the casting, but others were left open to audition. Brian Murray (John Silver) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Jim Hawkins) were both cast after months of auditions had happened. JGL has gone on record speaking about his desire to work on the movie as a chance to be part of the tradition of Disney animated movies, which he describes as being in a âclass all their ownâ. While I donât agree with his high praises of the studio (like any other, theyâve had hits and missesâDisney is not infallible), I do agree that Disney films are almost a genre unto themselves. Having voice actors that respect that body of work and the effort that went into creating them is essential for a good animated movie. All of the voice actors fill their roles like a glove. My favorites were David Hyde Pierce as the bumbling, but well-meaning Dr. Doppler; Martin Short as B.E.N., a robot whoâs lost his memory and is found marooned; and Brian Murray as John Silverâeasily the highlight of the cast. JGL does a swell job here as well, but Iâm not married to him as the voice of Jim. The animation itself is a treat for the eyes with its near-seamless integration of 2D animation and CG elements. Watching B.E.N. move around is fascinating and I can get lost watching his animations at times. The rest of the film is, again, just gorgeous. Both scenes involving the opening of the treasure map are equally wondrous, as is the opening solar sailer sequence with Jim. I would have loved to see this movieâs artstyle translated to 3D cel animation for the video game tie-ins instead of the one used. Treasure Planet is not without its shortcomings, though. I can think of two characters off the top of my head whose storylines are ultimately meaningless to the overall plot: first mate Mr. Arrow and the villainous Scroop. Itâs a completely unnecessary side-plot that, overall, has no effect on any of the rest of the story. Iâm not complaining too much though, because the chase scene involving Scroop is one of my favorite moments in the movie. I do think the time spent on Scroop and Arrowâs story could have been better spent elsewhere, though. I also take some issue with the use of not one, but two songs performed by The Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik. Neither track fits the tone of the film and they both feel incredibly forced. I would have liked it more had they stuck to the purely orchestral sound thatâs used in the rest of the film. At least theyâre both immediately forgettable. Treasure Planet is ripe for a reevaluation of its place in Disneyâs canon. It was never given a chance at life when it released initially, but it deserves one now. Between the sense of wonder, the colorful cast, and the beautiful visuals and score, Treasure Planet is a bounty of freshness in Disneyâs usual output. Like any big hunk of gemstone though, itâs got a few rough edges that could be cleaned up. This is an easy recommendation to anyone looking for adventure. review on letterboxd submitted by gizzlyxbear to iwatchedanoldmovie [link] [comments]
