Posting a random Steeler every day until kickoff or I forget - Day 90: Jordan Berry
P Jordan Berry (2015-2020, 2022)
Jordan Berry was signed by the Steelers as a free agent in 2015 after going undrafted in 2014. Berry, an Australia native, earned a scholarship to play college football at Eastern Kentucky through ProKick Australia after training to be in the Australian Football League. At Eastern Kentucky, Berry was a 2x Second-Team All-OVC in 2010 and 2013, and First-Team All-OVC in 2011.
Berry beat out punter Brad Wing during the 2015 pre-season, who was then traded to the New York Giants. Berry stayed with the team through the 2020 season, and lost his spot to rookie Pressley Harvin III during the 2021 preseason. He then went to the Minnesota Vikings for the 2021 season, and was briefly re-signed to the Steelers practice squad in 2022. During his time with Pittsburgh, Berry played in 91 games, punting 385 times for 17,104 yards, averaging 44.4 yards per punt, his longest being 79 yards in 2015. He is currently a free agent.

2024.06.02 02:28 madmag23 Major League Soccer 2024 Gameweek 16 Prediction

SUNDAY 02 JUNE 2024 (GMT +7)
New York Red Bull vs Orlando City
Gameweek 17 in Major League Soccer (MLS) will witness a Western Conference showdown as the New York Red Bulls host Orlando City at the iconic Red Bull Arena on Sunday morning. Both teams are eager to secure crucial points as they battle for supremacy in their respective conference standings. The Red Bulls enter this match with confidence, having recently secured a 3-1 victory against Charlotte FC in a two-match homestand. Captain Emil Forsberg led the charge, scoring twice in the second half. His curling free kick and a well-timed pass to teammate Lewis Morgan showcased the team’s attacking prowess. Notably, the Red Bulls have gone unbeaten in their first six home matches this season, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2012. However, their defensive vulnerability remains a concern, having conceded 22 goals in 15 matches. In other side, Orlando City aims to bounce back from a disappointing draw against the Chicago Fire. In their last outing, they squandered a one-goal lead and settled for a 1-1 result. Facundo Torres found the net early, but defensive lapses allowed the Fire to equalize. Despite their inconsistent attacking form, Orlando City boasts an impressive away record, remaining unbeaten in their last five road games. Forward/midfielder Lewis Morgan has been pivotal, contributing nine goals this season, while Cyle Larin continues to lead the Lions’ all-time scoring charts with 44 goals. In their previous meeting, Orlando City secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the Red Bulls. Facundo Torres was the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the first half. The Lions displayed solid defensive organization to keep the hosts at bay, snapping their winless streak in MLS play. It was a crucial result for Orlando City, and they’ll look to replicate that performance at Red Bull Arena. However, the hosts were in great form when playing in front of their fans, thus it was difficult for the visitors team once more.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Inter Miami vs St. Louis
On Saturday, Inter Miami CF will host St. Louis City SC at the Chase Stadium. The Eastern Conference leaders, Inter Miami, are eager to bounce back after their recent defeat against Atlanta United. Prior to that setback, they were in impressive form. However, St. Louis City has struggled, currently sitting 11th in the Western Conference standings. They come into this game on the back of three consecutive defeats, hoping to turn their fortunes around. The last time these two sides met was in July 2023, when St. Louis City surprisingly secured a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami. Despite being the favorites this time, Inter Miami must remain cautious. Key players like Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Matias Rojas will be crucial in their attacking efforts. Messi, in particular, has been exceptional, providing five assists and scoring a goal in a recent league match. In their final match before Lionel Messi’s era began, Inter Miami faced St. Louis City and suffered a 3-0 defeat. It was also Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s first match as head coach. The team struggled throughout the game, falling behind 2-0 in the first half. St. Louis capitalized on poor zonal marking, with Samuel Adeniran and Tim Parker finding the net. Martino made halftime substitutions, injecting energy into the Miami side, but they couldn’t overcome St. Louis’ defensive resilience. Eduard Lowen’s free-kick sealed the victory for St. Louis. Inter Miami’s winless streak extended to 11 games, emphasizing their need for improvement. However, with Messi now available, they have a chance to redeem themselves and secure a vital victory against St. Louis City in their upcoming clash. Inter Miami faces a challenging task against St. Louis City, who will be determined to upset the odds once again. The match promises excitement, with both teams aiming for crucial points in their respective conferences. Keep an eye on Messi’s creativity and Suárez’s clinical finishing as they lead Inter Miami’s charge. The stage is set for an intriguing battle at the Chase Stadium.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Philadelphia Union and CF Montréal
Philadelphia Union has had a mixed season so far, with their recent form showing two draws and a win in their last five matches. Their defensive solidity has been a key factor, but they need to find more consistency in attack. The Union currently sit 8th in the league standings, with 19 points from their 14 games. CF Montréal, on the other hand, has struggled recently. They have suffered three consecutive defeats, leaving them in 13th place with 16 points. However, Saturday’s match provides an opportunity for Montreal to build on newfound momentum, albeit against a tough opponent. In their previous meeting, Philadelphia Union faced CF Montréal in an intense battle. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams showcasing their determination and skill. Philadelphia took the lead through a well-taken goal by Jamiro Monteiro, but Montréal responded with a late equalizer from Bjørn Johnsen. The game was evenly contested, with both sides creating chances. Philadelphia’s midfield duo of Alejandro Bedoya and José Martínez controlled the tempo, while Montréal’s Victor Wanyama provided stability in the center. Despite the draw, the match was a testament to the competitive spirit of both teams. Looking back, Philadelphia Union will aim to build on their recent form and secure a crucial victory against CF Montréal in their upcoming clash. The memories of that hard-fought draw will serve as motivation for both sides as they step onto the field once again. Expect an intense battle between Philadelphia Union and CF Montréal, with both teams eager to claim three points. The fans at Subaru Park are in for an exciting match, and the players will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory. Given Philadelphia Union’s solid defensive form and CF Montréal’s struggles on the road, the Union is likely to edge this encounter.
Prediction: 55 – 45
Real Salt Lake vs. Austin FC
RSL enters this match after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. Despite falling behind to an Albert Rusnak goal, RSL salvaged a point with a late equalizer from Andres Gomez. The team remains at the top of the Western Conference, holding a slim two-point lead over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Historically, matches between RSL and Austin FC have been closely contested, with each team winning three times in their last seven meetings. RSL’s home record is impressive, having remained unbeaten in nine of their last ten home matches. Meanwhile Austin FC suffered a 2-0 loss to the Portland Timbers in their recent outing at Q2 Stadium. Missing an early penalty, they conceded a goal to Evander before Jonathan Rodriguez sealed the win for Portland. With 23 points from 16 matches, Austin sits fifth in the Western Conference, seven points behind RSL. Their away form has been a concern, with just one win in their last seven road matches. However, facing the conference leaders provides an opportunity for Austin to prove their mettle and climb the standings. The absence of star player Sebastián Driussi due to injury adds to the challenge for the Verde & Black. In their previous encounter on October 2022, Austin FC faced RSL in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The match ended 2-2 after extra time, with Sebastián Driussi scoring twice for Austin. Brad Stuver’s heroics in the penalty shootout secured a 3-1 win for the Verde & Black. It was a thrilling contest that showcased Austin’s resilience and RSL’s quality. Fans can expect another intense battle as these two teams clash once again. However, RSL’s strong home form, with 16 points from seven matches at America First Field, makes them formidable opponents. Their forward Cristian Arango, leading MLS with 13 goals, poses a constant threat to any defense. Despite their recent loss, Austin’s defense will need to stay organized to contain RSL’s attack.
Prediction: 55 – 45

Wider than NYC, at 2.5 miles, built in the 1950's by the Royal Family.... This is a photo of my parents home. My mother's name is Arlene, and so also is the shape of the streets inside Philadelphia 19115. It also says, #Orleans if you switch the last two letters, the "NE" in Arlene to "AN" ...as in the #HouseofOrleans. It spans 2 miles, bigger than Central Park and wider than Manhattan, NYC. Starting at Pennypack Park on Pine Rd. at Kingsfield Rd and concluding at Red Line Road. My parents were the inaugural homeowners in the 1960s, the 1st owners.
Within this neighborhood, the streets are named after distinguished military figures from England, spanning various eras from the American Revolution to World War II. Streets like Lockart, Darlington, Welsh, and Clinton allude to espionage and historical military significance.
British Commander-in-Chief during the #Revolution Clinton Rd 19006 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Clinton_(British_Army_officer,_born_1730))
Lockhart Rd & Place 19115 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Lockhart
Darlington Rd. 19115 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Darling
Welsh Rd. 19115 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Welsh_(East_India_Company_officer)) - - or - - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunt_Walsh
Grant Ave 19115 - There's Ulysses S. Grant, and then the British have 7 different British Military leaders named Grant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Grant_(British_Army_officer)) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Keir_Grant https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Grant_(colonial_administrator)) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Grant https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope_Grant https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Grant_(19th_century_British_Army_officer)) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Grant_(British_Army_officer,_born_1720))
Contrary to what one might assume, the street name is unrelated to Ulysses S. Grant and instead commemorates British military leaders.
In the 1950's Grant Ave. was named and mostly completed, as prior it had many different names. Frankford Ave. aka The King's Highway was built by #King George II from 1682 to the late 1790's. http://kingshighwayfilm.com - Those dates were all before The American #Revolution and Civil War, so regardless of the construction date of Grant Ave, I would still say the name Grant Ave. has absolutely nothing at all to do with Ulysses S. Grant.
We also have Portis Rd. which is a combination of 2 words = La Porte + Paris = Portis - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnaud_II_de_La_Porte - La Porte was named Intendant of the Civil List (Minister of the Royal Household) in December 1790 which gave him direct control of the large sums of #money that were considered the private wealth of the King of France and so not subject to public audit.
Across the street from my home is Durand Road. Durand was the name of the fake ID they gave to the King of France during the #French Revolution when the King of #France and his family tried to escape with Barron Batz. See p24 hosted on the University of Chicago's website: https://penelope.uchicago.edu/ThayeE/GazetteePlaces/Europe/France/_Texts/CROROY/Fuite_de_Varennes*.html - More on Barron Batz can be found in your local library, or here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean,_Baron_de_Batz - Keep in mind, Louis XVI's grandfather Louis XIV had 30 children.
When my parents moved in, the area was all farmlands. Directly across the street from us at 1855 Melmar Road 19006 was the country home of Nicholas Biddle w/ 33 Rooms, & 9 Bathrooms. Though, there was nothing in between us except empty fields, there house was about 1,000 feet away. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Biddle - He was the President of the Second Bank of the United States. It is now called the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. That's where everybody gets there monthly $600 social security checks from... and, there still located here very close to this zip code printing checks for the majority of #America. His original home is still there, but... In the 1980's, they turned his land into a development of multi-million dollar homes now called Biddle Estates.
His brother, married a #Falcone girl, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Biddle_(Michigan_politician)) and members of their family built Drexel University and also Lippincott Medicine, who are book publishers, and also the name of the next street across from me, Lippincott Rd. 19006.
A lot of the homes here go for over 1 million dollars. My house was right there in the middle, on Pine Road at the top the shape of the "L" that looks exactly like the Boston Red Sox logo. We're on the city line, so I'm inside #Philadelphia, but the homes on the other side of Pine are not. Were on very high elevation here. At the bottom of the hill is Huntingdon Valley aka Lower Moreland. Bryn Athyn, and #Hollywood, PA are at the top of the valley.
On the other side of the valley, at the top of that hill, is Abington, PA. Coincidently, also the same place based on the TV show, The Goldbergs.
Additionally, The Golden Girls which aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to May 9, 1992 also talk about us in every episode, "Shady Pines" was the retirement home Rose burnt down... as in Shady Lane & Pine Rd located at Fox Chase Farm, and the World Headquarters for the Medical Mission Sisters, who bring justice and healing to women, children and men in 17 countries on five continents. Their 2nd office is in London. www.medicalmissionsisters.org They also speak frequently inside the United Nations.
Previously, that property belonged to the oldest home in Pennsylvania, the Ury House, & it was located here. Built in 1640 it frequented visitors such as: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and even George Washington slept here. The school located on the grounds, has now relocated as the Valley Forge Military Academy. https://hiddencityphila.org/2017/10/ury-house-demo-in-the-1970s-erased-oldest-home-in-pa
In addition, one of the 4 main actresses in the show, Blanch Devereaux, coincidently the United States DoD - Department of Defense is located on Devereaux St & Oxford Ave, about 10 minutes from here, as Pine Road changes names to Oxford Ave & Rising Sun Ave at a 5 points. This DoD site encompasses over 134 acres, in which its warehouse offices and other buildings amount to 2,250,000 square feet.
The rap group N.W.A Music w/ Dr Dre sings about us in a lot of songs, in "Straight out of Compton" They say, "Until them dumb motherf*ckers see clearly, that I'm down with the Capital C-P-T" ...and, at the same time in the video, they keep showing a picture of map with areas marked out in red marker. (That's C-P-T as in #Capet, as in Louis Capet XVI) https://youtu.be/TMZi25Pq3T8?t=62
There's a lot going on here, too much for me to type on Facebook.
ABC daytime soap opera "All My Children" with Kelly Ripa, which aired January 5, 1970, to September 23, 2011, is based in "Pine Valley" PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, the same name as my neighborhood, but in the soap opera, they are actually located on the other side of Philadelphia. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2021/01/all-my-children-reboot-pine-valley-abc-kane-santos-family
Get it? "All My Children" as how Louis XIV had 30 children.
In 2023, the TV series "Pine Valley" aired as a prime time spin-off of the daytime drama soap opera “All My Children.” Their description reads as, "Set in a fictional Philadelphia suburb called Pine Valley, it delves into the dark and murderous history of the town." It also starred the same cast, Kelly Rippa & Susan Lucci again from "All My Children." https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13561428
Unrelated, but the first 10 years of "All My Children" ...The original recordings from the 1970's were destroyed in a fire.
The highest elevation inside #Paris & oldest Military Base in #Paris is Montfaucon - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibbet_of_Montfaucon now called the Parc des Buttes Chaumont - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parc_des_Buttes_Chaumont as in my name, Mont Faucon / Matt Falcone. On the east side of the words, in the "E" in Arlene, or the "N" in Orlean on the map of 19115, we have Geiger Road. A Geiger Counter is an instrument that measures radioactive levels.
In the 1990's Lockheed Martin had a factory here on Geiger Road. They are a leading American aerospace and defense corporation, specializing in cutting-edge technology and solutions for air, land, sea, space, and cybersecurity challenges. www.lockheedmartin.com
On Red Line Road, we had "The Budd Company" who specialized in manufacturing Railroad Cars. They were a 20th-century metal fabricator, a major supplier of body components to the automobile industry, and a manufacturer of stainless steel passenger rail cars, airframes, missile and space vehicles, and various defense products. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budd_Company - During WW2, they switched production from rail cars to war heads & various Military Equipment. During their tenor, they left behind contaminated land, from PCB's oil leakage, and Radioactive Waste. Though, I had the radioactive reports 5 years ago before covid, which described the radioactivity levels, stretching as far south as Bustleton Road, via an underground creak, that crosses Red Line Rd just about 100ft north of Bustleton Ave, I do not have those links anymore, ...maybe on an old computer.
I did recently find the reports where the NCR, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has terminated the license held by the Budd Company for another facility in Philadelphia, which may have occurred at both locations, as this location, which consisted of 75 acres was their main manufacturing facility, and the other may have been primarily used for offices, mailing address, and smaller manufacturing. https://www.nrc.gov/docs/ML0037/ML003702451.pdf -
The Budd Company operated a hot cell facility in Philadelphia from l956 through l967 to manufacture sealed sources for use in industrial radiography. (A hot cell is a heavily shielded enclosure in which radioactive materials are handled by persons using remote manipulators, such as mechanical arms, and viewed through shielded windows or periscopes.) A small amount of unsealed cesium-137 was also used for a brief time at the facility.
In addition, we also have Laramie Road. I always wondered what the meaning of Laramie meant, as I have seen roads all over the world with the same name, such as in Canada.
The Laramie Mountains in Black Hills / Paha Sapa, USA was one of the largest Uranium mining sites in the USA. https://www.nuclear-risks.org/en/hibakusha-worldwide/black-hillspaha-sapa.html
The Black Hills are considered a sacred place by the Lakota people and are representative of the entire four-state region of South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota, where thousands of uranium mines or exploration wells are located. For more than 40 years, the local population has been exposed to the radioactive legacy of the former uranium rush.
Behind my house at 9643 Pine Rd. inside Buckley Place, and also Buckley Terrace, Almatt Place, Almatt Terrace, Myers Circle, Mark Place, Johnathin Place, Kismet Place, etc... etc... and so on, whatever... we have various dead end streets, which the locals refer to as a "cul-de-sacs" as they strikingly resemble a cement covered missel silo's, aka launch sites, in which the process requires the cement cover to be blown off by explosives, so the missile underneath can launch intercontinentally.
We also have, "Flagstaff Rd." ...Get it? Flag, like the American Flag & Staff.
In the 1985 movie, Back to the Future, Marty Visits Hill Valley, as in Pine Valley / Huntingdon Valley - https://youtu.be/i9-4phPA_mQ?feature=shared
Also, in Back to the Future, the Mall Scene where the Libyans arrive to get back their stolen Plutonium, the name of the mall is "Twin Pines" ...there is also a "Lone Pine" Mall in the movie. So, the Twin Pines Mall in the movie, is almost an exact replica of the Plymouth Meeting Mall, which is about 25 minutes away from Pine Rd. Though, the mall had a makeover in around the year 2010. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfLPiMPAReU or here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AChCcVIJaCE
Also, in Back to the Future, Marty's mom's name is Lorraine. As a play on words in French, "Reine" means "King" in France, So, Lorain would translate in French to King Louis, Lou, Lo.
In the South Park SE 8 EP 1 2004 Paris Hilton inserts a Pine Apple up her vagina. Get it, Paris as in France, like how the streets here are shaped into the words: Arlene & Orlene, ....and, a Pine Apple like Pine Rd. https://youtu.be/HS5_opSMxDc?t=91 and/or https://southpark.cc.com/video-clips/n0cqud/south-park-the-whore-off
https://youtu.be/XkvIlrLiy9o - The 1993 movie, the Coneheads as in Falcone, Fal-cone, in this clip, ...they say, "Were from France" and also their homes look identical to ours.
In addition, as explained above + http://www.LaserLightShow.ORG as myself... also in the movie, plus many more: https://youtu.be/56XbBVUuwl4?feature=shared
Eminem - Slim Shady like Shady Lane Road & Pine Rd. https://youtu.be/BBY4-BqR08o
In the movie, Trading Places Movie with Eddie Murphey, that was filmed in Philadelphia, ....his name is Billy Ray Valentine, but, it sounds like Billy Revel on Pine, as in the French Revolution.
Did you ever hear the saying, "We'll that's the word on the street?" or... "The word on the street is..."
My parents were my best friends. I bought my 1st home in 2004, in the 19115, When they got old & sick, I had to move back in w/ them & keep my home vacant. We wanted to prevent them from going into a nursing home, and also having the nursing home take away their home. We had nurses, round the clock for 24 hours. I was not embarrassed living with my parents. I actually enjoyed it very much. We would eat dinner together every day. We never argued. My whole life I was never yelled at. They were a lot older than me, and as their age progressed, things became tough. I had to cook for them 3 meals a day, and do everything for them... because I didn't want to put them in a nursing home. One time, my vegan diet gave my father low iron, low hemoglobin (which requires a blood transfusion to fix immediately), it makes you weak, and you can't move.... So, I had to sleep on the floor next to him for a month. I didn't know about the Nutrition Tracking Meal Diary Cell Phone Free App called www.cronometer.com at that time. I miss them very much, and think about them all the time.
My father was a prominent Book Publisher, similar to myself also a publisher. He was the VP at Ruttle, Shaw & Wetherill. One of their notable works that they published was the Merck Manual Professional // Merck Manual Consumer, an indispensable resource for medical professionals; it was the most popular reference guide for Medical Professionals, on how to treat hospital patients. It's what Hospitals used before the internet & computers.
My mother worked at Orleans Technical College & also the School District of Philadelphia as a part time substitute #teacher, and hemy friends worked in operations. They also owned a printing company specializing in medical forms. They both retired around 1990.
I think this is the best home in #America. I don't care about those big homes in California or Florida nor Donald Trump's home in Key Largo.... I don't think his home is better than mine. I only mention that b/c I hear it in the news every day for the past 5 years... but, maybe that's why the Donald Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia in New Jersey is located in a city, with the same name as mine, Pine Hill / Pine Valley. Here, we have the Fox Chase Farm, it's 117 acres, 1 hour walk to loop it.
The only homes or Cities that might even come close, might be Dubai, United Arab Emirates - World Islands, or Dubai Palm Island ....but, we did this in the 1950's, and they just started.

🔴🔴🔴🔴 ⚡ Louis XVI & The American Revolution
Louis XVI's financial support to the United States during the American Revolutionary War primarily came in the form of loans and supplies. The financial assistance was crucial for the American colonists in their fight against British rule. Here are the details of how the money was distributed:
Financial Agreements: In February 1778, France and the United States signed the Treaty of Alliance, formally allying France with the American colonists. As part of this agreement, France pledged its support, including financial aid, to the United States.
Loans: France provided substantial loans to the United States to fund their war efforts. The most significant loan came in 1778 when the French government arranged a loan of 2 million livres (a French currency) from the French banking house of Le Couteulx et Cie. This initial loan was followed by additional loans, including a total of 10 million livres in 1779 and 24 million livres in 1780.
Supplies and Military Aid: In addition to financial assistance, France also provided military supplies and aid to the American colonists. The French Navy played a crucial role in the war by assisting in naval blockades and engaging in key battles, such as the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, which was a decisive victory for the Americans. The French military support included troops, warships, weapons, and ammunition.
Benjamin Franklin's Role: Benjamin Franklin, the American envoy to France, played a significant role in negotiating and securing French support. He worked closely with the French government to secure financial aid and other resources for the American cause. Franklin's diplomacy and influence were instrumental in obtaining French assistance.
Distribution of Funds: The funds received from France were primarily managed by the Continental Congress, the governing body of the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Congress used the funds to pay for various war-related expenses, such as purchasing supplies, equipping troops, and maintaining military operations. Some funds were also used to pay off existing debts.
It is important to note that while Louis XVI and France's support was crucial for the American cause, the financial aid alone did not guarantee victory in the war. The American colonists faced numerous challenges throughout the conflict, and the outcome of the war was determined by a combination of factors, including military strategy, perseverance, and the support of other nations such as Spain and the Netherlands.

⚡ Family Relationships of France & England
Louis XVI's wife, Marie Antoinette, and King George III's wife, Queen Charlotte, were sisters-in-law as they both came from the House of Habsburg-Lorraine through their mother, Maria Theresa. This made Louis XVI and King George III brothers-in-law by marriage.
In addition, there were also related by blood by former ancestors.
The British and French royal families have a long history of intermarriage, resulting in blood connections between the two dynasties. Here are some key relationships that link the British and French royal families:
The House of Stuart and the House of Bourbon: One significant connection between the two royal families was through the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots, a member of the Stuart dynasty, to Francis II of France, who belonged to the House of Valois-Bourbon. Their son, James VI of Scotland (later James I of England and Ireland), became the first monarch of the Stuart dynasty to rule over England and Scotland, effectively uniting the crowns from 1567 to 1625.
The House of Hanover and the House of Bourbon: The Hanoverian dynasty in Britain began with the accession of George I in 1714. The Hanoverians were related to the French Bourbon dynasty through Sophia of Hanover, whose mother was Elizabeth Stuart, daughter of James VI and I. Sophia's uncle, Charles I of England and Scotland, married Henrietta Maria of France, a member of the House of Bourbon. Therefore, there was a blood connection between the Hanoverians and Bourbons through the Stuart lineage.
The House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the House of Orléans: In the 19th century, the British royal family, known as the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (later renamed the House of Windsor), had a connection to the French royal family through Queen Victoria. In 1840, Victoria married Prince Albert, who was a member of the German noble House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Their daughter, Princess Victoria, married Prince Louis of Battenberg, whose mother was a member of the House of Orléans, a branch of the French royal family.
Edward III and Isabella of France: Edward III of England, who reigned from 1327 to 1377, was married to Philippa of Hainault. However, a significant blood connection between the British and French royal families came through Edward III's mother, Isabella of France. Isabella was the daughter of King Philip IV of France, making Edward III a grandson of a French king.
These are only a few examples of how the British and French royal families were related.
While these connections highlight the historical ties between the British, The Royal Family, and French royal families, it is important to note that they represent a small portion of the complex web of intermarriages among European royal houses throughout history. The relationships between the two dynasties were often influenced by political considerations, diplomatic alliances, and the desire to strengthen familial connections among European monarchies.

2024.06.01 15:03 Wonderful-Use8028 Teen son won’t come home

i am remarried mom of three kids, 18, 16, 12. my middle son is currently very angry with me, and refusing to come home after a week vacation with his dad.
context:
their dad and i divorced six years ago. i left everything, started life over quite alone and broke. it was so hard. the biggest grief was losing the kids half time. they were and are everything to me.
after a few years of healing i meet my now husband, who is nice and great. the kids love him. he list his wife to cancer young, no kids. he has character and respect of his friends and family.
two years ago, we moved the kids 15 miles away from town #1 to town #2, with legal permission from my ex and the support of the kids.
it was a disaster. my kids’ dad stopped talking to us after initially fully supporting the move, and took us to court trying to get custody and stop the move AFTER we actually moved. 🤡
the 18 months of custody dispute was horrible. worse than divorce. early on in the case, we moved BACK to our original town to show the kids how much we cared about what they wanted, which was apparently NOT moving after all. (their dad was using this to drive a wedge between us and the kids, even after we moved back, he would not drop the case against us.)
ultimately, the judge did not approve his motions and found him in contempt in some other areas. she gave us a new parenting plan that of course he is not following. custody remains at 50-50 for the boys, though my daughter has been with us full time since last august.
during this time, the kids dad also burns his house down with a cigarette, displacing the kids and racking up four more moves in a year in addition to our two for them (to the city and back.) my son's dog freezes to death after he lets him outside at his dads. he totals his car, with booze and passengers inside. he’s having major outbursts on the soccer fields and got in a fight with his one of his best friends. his dad also gets put on notice from my sons soccer club for unacceptable and hostile sideline behavior (chronic behavior)that includes kicking a ball AT a kid on the other team, ON PURPOSE, and admitting loudly it was.
so i’m seeing signs of deep distress in my son. he is a quiet kid and deep thinker, not one to talk about feelings, though we have been talking deeply for weeks…about soccer. his coaches and friends parents are telling me they are noticing he’s showing signs of too much pressure on him. they say it’s coming from his dad. so i start hunting for a strategy to get him through this time.
all the while, his dad is sneaking him around to try out for this super competitive traveling soccer team i said i wasn’t supportive of, mostly for mental health reasons. i also had him screened for adhd and took him to a therapist in the days leading up to our conflict. (maybe this was too much but im new at this too!)
so that’s the lead up. last friday we have an argument that starts about soccer, and what i see as betrayal and deceit: i said no to a traveling soccer team after my son had four weekends of volatile sportsmanship and yellow/red cards. he went to tryouts anyway with his dad and was surprised when i wasn't fully supportive.
he “sees me as an obstacle to his happiness.” that turned into … he’s still mad at the move—which i never fully explained our side. (all the parenting advice said don’t talk to the kids about court stuff, so i didn’t. you know who did? their dad.) but when i tried to share just the basics, he says im a liar and not a victim. i told him to get out (he was leaving anyway and this felt good at the time, but probably shouldnt have said it.)
he hasn’t come back. says he isn’t ready. he had a week vacation with his dad and is still there. his dad says he does NOT want james there full time. (his dad has several girlfriends currently, so that would hamper his style.)
my heart feels like it’s ripped from my chest, like our connection was completely cut. and the thing is: i SERVE that kid. i coddle him and dote on him and create memories and experiences and life lessons and all the good mama things. i’m a good mom to him. i spend so much time mothering him (directly and indirectly), probably too much at the expense of myself. i’ve felt guilty since the divorce and have always babied the boys especially. and what i get is blame and rage.
i’m hearing this is typical teenage angst, made worse by some huge traumas in his life.
i cant go back to court. there’s lots i could say my kids dad is not doing, to include mandated court coparenting counseling, but it will only make things worse. he’s a narcissist with substance abuse problems, and at least now, with this conflict, he’s finally talking to me again. so much of our trauma these last few years have come from us not talking. it’s truly like dancing with the devil, talking to him now and trying to come together for our son.
my longtime therapist said that their relationship with their dad will be marked by his mask slowly falling off and disappointing them in huge ways. my daughter went through this and i thought my son was starting to see some things … and now he’s flopped, and seems to be incredibly loyal to his dad.
(it’s not about loyalty to one parent over the other for me, it’s about healthy relationships and living in truth.)
so long, sorry. i just need a strategy for how to proceed. do i give my son the space and time he's asking for, even if he's just couch-hopping from friends house to friends house while he's there? what if he doesn’t come back? how much autonomy do i allow him and when do i stand up for what i see is best as his mom?
thanks for reading if you made it this far. looking for books or ideas, resources, advice.

2024.06.01 12:02 Normodox A Slush Fund for Radical Protesters?

The profusion of identical green tents at this spring’s anti-Israel protests struck many as odd. “Why is everybody’s tent the same?,” asked New York mayor Eric Adams. Like others, the mayor suspected “a well-concerted organizing effort” driving the protests. More recent reporting shows a concerted push behind the Gaza protest movement. But it is not as simple as a single organization secretly rallying protesters or buying tents. Instead, the movement’s most determined activists represent a network of loosely linked far-left groups. Some are openly affiliated with well-known progressive nonprofits; others work in the shadows.
The movement also draws on diverse but generous sources of financial backing. Those funding streams may soon be augmented by the federal government. As I chronicled last year in a Manhattan Institute report, “The Big Squeeze: How Biden’s Environmental Justice Agenda Hurts the Economy and the Environment,” the administration’s massive program of environmental justice grants seems designed to prioritize the funding of highly ideological local groups. The Inflation Reduction Act, for example, earmarks $3 billion for “environmental and climate justice block grants” intended for local nonprofits. Today, hundreds of far-left political groups include language about environmental issues and “climate justice” in their mission statements. If just a fraction of planned grants flows to such groups, the effect will be a gusher of new funding for radical causes.
As the Gaza protests spread across U.S. college campuses, many observers noted an eerie uniformity among them. From one campus to the next, protesters operated in disciplined cadres, keeping their faces covered and using identical rote phrases as they refused to talk with reporters. The Atlantic noted the strangeness of seeing elite college students “chanting like automatons.” Students held up keffiyeh scarves or umbrellas to block the view of prying cameras and linked arms to halt the movements of outsiders. At Columbia University and elsewhere, protesters formed “liberated zones,” from which “Zionists” were excluded. Around the edges of the encampments, the more militaristic activists donned helmets and goggles and carried crude weapons, apparently eager to mix it up with police or counter-protesters. We’ve seen these tactics before—notably during the “mostly peaceful” Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, when full-time agitators helped ignite riots, set up a police-free (and violence-plagued) zone in Seattle, and laid nightly siege to Portland, Oregon’s federal courthouse.
In a remarkable work of reporting, Park MacDougald recently traced the tangled roots of organizations backing pro-jihad protests, both on and off campuses. These include Antifa and other networks of anonymous anarchists, along with “various communist and Marxist-Leninist groups, including the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), and the International ANSWER coalition,” MacDougald writes. Higher up the food chain, we find groups openly supported by America’s growing class of super-rich tech execs or the anti-capitalist heirs of great fortunes. For example, retired tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, who is married to Code Pink founder Jodie Evans, funds The People’s Forum, a lavish Manhattan resource center for far-left groups. As the Columbia protests intensified, the center urged members to head uptown to “support our students.” Following the money trail of other protest groups, MacDougald finds connections to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Ford Foundation, and—surprising no one—the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation.
Of course, the current wave of anti-Israel protests also involves alliances with pro-Hamas organizations such as Students for Justice in Palestine. Last November, Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies testified to the House Ways and Means Committee that SJP and similar groups have deep ties to global terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
For many keffiyeh-wearing protestors, however, a recently professed concern for Palestinians is just the latest in a long list of causes they believe justify taking over streets and college quads. In Unherd, Mary Harrington dubs this medley of political beliefs the “omnicause,” writing that “all contemporary radical causes seem somehow to have been absorbed into one.” Today’s leftist activists share an interlocking worldview that sees racism, income inequality, trans intolerance, climate change, alleged police violence, and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts all as products of capitalism and “colonialism.” Therefore, the stated rationale for any individual protest is a stand-in for the real battle: attacking Western society and its institutions.
In the U.S., this type of general-purpose uprising goes back at least to the riots at the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization in Seattle. In those protests, mainstream liberal factions—including labor unions and environmentalists—were joined by “black bloc” anarchists and other radicals eager to engage in “direct action” against police. That pattern—relatively moderate demonstrators providing a friendly envelope for hard-core disruptors—formed the template for many later protests: the Occupy Wall Street encampments in 2011, demonstrations following the police shooting of Michael Brown in 2014, 2016’s Standing Rock anti-pipeline movement, and of course, the calamitous summer of 2020.
These uprisings were not entirely spontaneous. In some cases, activists spend months planning mass actions—for example, against economic summits or political conventions—and can recruit street fighters from across the country. In others, an event, such as George Floyd’s death, sparks popular protests involving neophyte demonstrators. Those attract far-left activists, who swoop in to organize and expand the struggle, often tilting it toward more radical action.
That has certainly been the case at the college Gaza-paloozas. At Columbia, the New York Times spotted a woman old enough to be a student’s grandmother in the thick of the action as protesters barricaded that school’s Hamilton Hall. The woman was 63-year-old Lisa Fithian, a lifetime activist, who Portland’s alternative weekly Street Roots approvingly calls “a trainer of mass rebellion.” A counter-protester trying to block the pro-Hamas demonstrators told NBC News, “She was right in the middle of it, instructing them how to better set up the barriers.” Fithian told the Times she’d been invited to train students in protest safety and “general logistics.” She claims to have taken part in almost every major U.S. protest movement going back to the 1999 “Battle in Seattle.”
America’s radical network has plenty of Lisa Fithians, with the time and resources to travel the country educating newcomers about the “logistics” of disruptive protests. And these activists appear to have played key roles in the college occupations. The New York City Police Department says nearly half the demonstrators arrested on the Columbia and City University of New York (CUNY) campuses on April 30 were not affiliated with the schools. One hooded Hamilton Hall occupier—photographed scuffling with a Columbia custodian before getting arrested—turned out to be 40-year-old James Carlson, heir to a large advertising fortune. According to the New York Post, Carlson lives in a $2.3 million Park Slope townhouse and has a long rap sheet. For example, in 2005, he was arrested in San Francisco during the violent “West Coast Anti-Capitalist Mobilization and March Against the G8.” (Those charges were dropped.)
For a quarter-century now, Antifa and other anarchist networks have worked to refine tactics and share lessons following each major action. At Columbia, UCLA, and other schools, authorities found printouts of a “Do-It Yourself Occupation Guide” and similar documents. The young campus radicals are eager to learn from their more experienced elders. And, like the high-achieving students they are, they follow directions carefully. MacDougald asked Kyle Shideler, the director for homeland security and counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, about the mystery of the identical tents. There was no need for a central group to distribute hundreds of tents, Shideler said. Instead, “the organizers told [students] to buy a tent, and sent around a Google Doc with a link to that specific tent on Amazon. So they all went out and bought the same tent.”
In other words, America’s radical class has gotten very skilled at recruiting and instructing new activists—even from among the ranks of elite college students with a good deal to lose. How much more could this movement accomplish with hundreds of millions in federal dollars flooding activist groups around the country?
From its first week in office, the Biden administration has trumpeted its goal to funnel more environmental spending toward “disadvantaged communities that have been historically marginalized,” partly by issuing grants to grassroots organizations. Previous environmental justice (EJ) grant programs were small in scope. But, with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022, a huge pool of grant money became available. EPA administrator Michael Regan told reporters, “We’re going from tens of thousands of dollars to developing and designing a program that will distribute billions.”
More than a year and a half later, it remains hard to nail down just where the Biden administration’s billions in EJ grants will wind up. Money is being distributed through a confusing variety of programs, and the process of identifying recipients is ongoing. To help outsource the job of sifting through proposals, the EPA last year designated 11 institutions as “Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers.” These groups are empowered to make subgrants directly to community organizations, under streamlined EPA oversight. In all, the Biden administration has entrusted these outfits with distributing a staggering $600 million in funding. The money is expected to start flowing this summer.
The EPA’s grantmakers include a number of educational institutions and left-leaning nonprofits. For example, the EPA chose Fordham University as its lead grantmaker in the New York region. Fordham, in turn, lists as partners two nonprofits that oppose immigration enforcement. (One, the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, states on its website: “NJAIJ believes in the human right to migrate, regardless of citizenship or political status.”) Neither group claims expertise in environmental issues. Given that the IRA’s eligibility requirements for EJ grants are extremely vague, however, perhaps that’s not a problem. Almost any activity that could help “spur economic opportunity for disadvantaged communities” (in the words of Biden’s EJ executive order) might qualify.
Perhaps the most prominent—and problematic—EPA grantmaker is the Berkeley, California-based Climate Justice Alliance. The CJA is a consortium of mostly far-left activist groups. It describes its mission as working for “regenerative economic solutions and ecological justice—under a framework that challenges capitalism and both white supremacy and hetero-patriarchy.” The group is a vigorous proponent of the omnicause, embracing almost every left-wing concern as a manifestation of climate change. For example, the CJA website proclaims: “The path to climate justice travels through a free Palestine.” MacDougald notes that the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, one of CJA’s affiliated groups, “organized an illegal anti-Israel protest in the Capitol Rotunda in December at which more than 50 activists were arrested.”
The CJA website also includes a section dedicated to the cause known as Stop Cop City. It refers to an effort to halt the construction of an 85-acre police and firefighter training center outside Atlanta. Rag-tag activists from around the country have gathered around the facility since 2021. They have repeatedly battled with police—sometimes with fireworks and Molotov cocktails—and used bolt cutters to enter the site and torch construction equipment. (CJA’s Stop Cop City page features a cartoon illustration of three childlike activists; one brandishes bolt cutters.) The group also backs a legal defense fund for activists arrested in attacks on the training center or in other protests. For those looking for more inspiration, CJA links to an interview with former Black Panther and self-described revolutionary Angela Davis.
The Alliance is not an ideological outlier in Biden’s EJ coalition. On the contrary, when the White House assembled its White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC), a panel of outside experts meant to provide “horizon-expanding EJ advice and recommendations,” it chose CJA co-chair Elizabeth Yeampierre to help lead the committee. Like other members of the panel, she sees environmental issues through an ideological, not a scientific, lens. “Climate change is the result of a legacy of extraction, of colonialism, of slavery,” Yeampierre told Yale Environment 360. As a group, radical EJ activists tend not to focus on pragmatic ways to reduce pollution and carbon emissions; for them, the real goal is overturning what they see as an exploitative economic and political system. Since these are the voices the White House chose to help shape its EJ policies, we can assume this worldview will dominate grantmaking decisions.
In February 2023, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, along with fellow committee member Pat Fallon, wrote to EPA administrator Regan asking for more information on the EPA’s grant programs. They noted that the EPA’s own studies of EJ grants issued in previous years showed sloppy supervision. According to an EPA report, an earlier version of the program funded projects that did “not logically lead to the desired environmental and/or public health [result].” Without better oversight and more clearly defined goals, the congressmen wrote, the EPA’s EJ grant machine risks becoming simply a “slush fund for far-left organizations.”
Since then, the administration has done little to reassure skeptics. To the contrary, the EPA has put at least one far-left organization—CJA—in charge of distributing $50 million in grant money. No doubt, many of the EPA grants will go to worthwhile projects. But money is fungible. A group that gets a large grant to, say, clean up dirty parks or teach children about recycling will also be able to hire more staff and divert more resources to political action.
With graduation behind them, most of the anti-Israel college protesters have stowed away their keffiyehs and moved on to summer vacations or internships. But the peripatetic activists who helped guide and intensify those uprisings are doubtless already planning their next actions. After all, two political conventions are looming. This fall, the college protests will likely flare up again, though by then perhaps focused on a different facet of the omnicause. And, with hundreds of millions in fresh funding flowing through the activist ecosystem, the groups that quietly nurture extremists—like those who firebombed “Cop City,” or who chant “Intifada Revolution!,” or who block bridges in the name of “climate”—will be more emboldened than ever.

2024.06.01 06:05 JoeDirtBuffett My 94 year old Grandma left us this bio she wrote during Covid.

“She Made the Salad”
Memoirs of Kathryn Robinson Knight
Dedicated to her Descendants
Summer of 2020
My mom and dad were married after he returned to Auburn following the First World War. Dad’s official name was Carey Carslile Robinson, but we called him “Cackey.” He was an Army First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry at the time. He referred to himself as a foot soldier and always kept his service in the Reserves up to date and remained on inactive duty.
Cackey’s first job was Line Coach at Auburn. He and my mom “ran away” after the GA Tech – Auburn game in Atlanta. She was eighteen; he was twenty-four years old. (This is the story I was told, but the dates may be off!)
After his football career, my father was Athletic Director at Mercer University in Macon, GA. My sister, Suzanne, was born there in 1924. He was later Athletic Director at Birmingham Southern, which is where I was born in 1930.
Our family later moved sixty miles to Alexander City, where Dad bought the Ford franchise car dealership. My mother’s family had the same business in Opelika; my dad’s brothers had a franchise in Kansas. So, we have always been in the car business – General Motors, Chrysler, Cadillac, etc.
It was in “Alex City” that I started school and also began dance instruction in 1935. In 1940 my dad was recalled to active duty and was promoted to Captain and sent to Columbia, SC, where Fort Jackson is located – U.S. Artillery Headquarters.
War was anticipated, and Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. “A day that will live in infamy.” My dad was Provost Marshall (Head of Military Police.) In 1940 there were 10,000 soldiers at Camp Jackson. After 1941, the numbers grew to 75,000 men almost overnight.
What an experience for an eleven-year-old! So many things changed during those three and a half years of war time. It reminds me of the current craziness of today’s world.
Fort Jackson was visited by so many top security people, from President Roosevelt to Churchill and all the generals who came to see the troops in review. My family was allowed to see all this because of my dad’s job. Not many people had this experience.
Many famous people came to entertain the troops, which we also got to see. Entertainers included some of the 40’s greats such as Bob Hope, Tommy Dorsey, Bing Crosby, and Benny Goodman. America at War is something I will never forget! It was in Columbia that I got my very best dance training.
In 1945 we were transferred to Fort Benning, GA. My dad was a Major by then and with the Infantry School at Benning. This was a beautiful place to live! Two historic events took place there. First, when President Roosevelt died in Warm Springs, GA, his body was taken there. His sendoff by train to Washington, DC, was full of pomp and circumstance. Also, a mass celebration occurred at the end of World War II.
In 1947 my father was transferred to Pratt General Hospital in Coral Gables, FL, due to a medical emergency – ruptured gall bladder. Dad, a Lieutenant Colonel by then, retired at that time. My parents decided to stay in Miami Beach until I finished high school in 1948. My last two years were at Miami Senior High.
I went to Florida State University for my freshman year of college, and pledge Delta Delta Delta social sorority. The chapter in Gainesville was new and needed older chapter members to help get it established.
The National Traveling Secretary wanted chapter members from Stetson, University of Miami, and FSU to transfer to UF. There were about ten of us from other schools who agreed to do this, so I transferred to the University of Florida for the remaining years of my college education.
Our group was very close and worked hard for Tri Delt. It was great fun! Our reward was to be allowed to live in the sorority house. Not often is that privilege extended to sophomores.
I majored in elementary education. Dance classes were always part of my life – on the university level and in private studio classes. This was true in both Tallahassee and Gainesville. At that time there was no dance major – too bad!
“Dancing with the Stars”
I started dance in Alexander City at age five and was always involved in a dance program during all of my school years. In Columbia, SC, my serious ballet training began. From ages eleven to fifteen, “class” was every day, and I was a “studio rat” – a group of kids who were always at the studio.
The Foster School of Dance had many students and adults who were members of the Carolina Ballet Company (the regional ballet company.) I was a junior member. Mrs. Foster took three of us to New York during the summer for two years. It was great training and a wonderful experience.
As an Army “brat,” we moved to Fort Benning, and I studied in Columbus, GA. I took dance on weekends in Atlanta. It was at this time that I met Mrs. Dorothy Alexander as a teacher. She later became Artistic Director of the Atlanta Civic Ballet Company. This is still an outstanding company!
They came to Orlando periodically, and I always loved to see them. Later, in Miami, I also found a great teacher. The love of dance never ends.
“Don’t Tell Mom!”
After college, when I married Gordon Oldham in Opelika, AL, and moved to Leesburg in 1952, my dance was put on hold while I raised a family. I managed to substitute teach in Leesburg at Helen St. John’s Studio at Lake Sumter Community College for continuing education classes.
The years spent raising my family will always be remembered as the very best! Raising my three children – Gordon, John, and Carey – was and always will be the greatest joy of my life. All three of my children are Gators now.
During these years I did all the things that were important to life in Leesburg: Junior Women’s Club, Triangle Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden Club, and – always – St. James Episcopal Church work.
In later years, I became involved with Women for Hospice, Heritage Society, LSCC Foundation Board, and the Performing Arts programs. I also assisted Lifestream with social dances for the mental health center.
I was divorced in 1977. In 1978, I married Art Knight (a Seminole!) and acquired another son – Arthur - also a Seminole. That same year I fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened the Kathryn Knight School of Dance studio. The next sixteen years were devoted to teaching many children the love and joy of dance.
Art and I enjoyed living part time in the mountains of Maggie Valley in North Carolina until his death in 2011. We were able to achieve many of our dreams and scratch lots of items off our bucket lists. These included traveling to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, and my favorite – St. Petersburg, Russia. I was fortunate to attend the ballet Giselle while there, an experience I will always treasure.
Our greatest pleasures came from our ten grandchildren. I now have four great-grandchildren and hopefully anticipate more. I am a three-time cancer survivor and am grateful for each and every day of my life.

2024.06.01 02:10 TaskSilly1477 Saying GOODBYE to my 13yr old daughter *emotional*

They have so much going on around there. Lilia is about to graduate from 8th grade. They are about to head to her promotion ceremony. Lilia is getting the do done. Lilia still needs her hair dried a little bit. Her hair doesn’t look like it's downed in water. Lilia’s makeup is done. Lilia has her glasses and her makeup. Lilia has the tickets. Lilia is officially done with school. Actually not quite. Lilia has her promotion ceremony today and then tomorrow she meets at the school to leave. Lilia leaves for Washington DC tomorrow with her school. Jess is nervous about it. They need to pack. The rest of the kids are at school. They still have another week of school. Lilia is out a lot earlier than they are. It kind of works because they can focus on Lilia today. Gabe is driving up for the promotion ceremony. They will probably go out to lunch afterwards. They have 15 minutes left. Jess wants to take a picture of Lilia before they leave in her graduation outfit. Honey loves her doorbell.
Jess can hear the ceremony music. They all came out to the graduate lunch. Chris is ditching them. Chris is driving to la tonight to pick up the boys. Normally they fly but since it is memorial day weekend they are coming down a day early. Jess is proud of Lilia.
Next day
Lilia feels like she is forgetting something but she can’t figure out what she is forgetting. Jess has a list of things she forgets that she keeps in her notes. They are hours away from Lilia leaving for almost a week. Lilia is headed out to washington dc/new york with her school. They have to leave in the next hour and a half. They are only allowed one carryon suitcase and one personal item. They are not checking bags on this trip. It is supposed to rain on Monday and be 85 degrees fahrenheit. It will probably be humid. Lilia doesn’t need her passport because it's domestic travel. The school had them apply for a specific debit card for the kids that they will put their food money on. Lilia has her own card that they use but it is a different company than the one the school will be using. Lilia will have both cards with her. Lilia has to download the app.
List of things packed

They are in the final stages grabbing snacks such as cheerios. Lilia feels like she has the upper hand because almost nobody on the trip travels a lot. Lilia’s travel buddy has traveled before in 2019. Lilia however travels all the time. It is nerve wracking to be away from family for this long. Lilia will be well taken care of. Lilia has never been away from Jess this long. Jess is packing the cheerios into individual bags. Lilia is ready to go. They just loaded Lilia up on Wendy's. Jess is not doing okay. The school said to feed the kids a large meal before they go because they won't get to eat dinner tonight. (A large meal is not Wendy's.) Lilia’s Wendy’s order is spicy chicken nuggets, burger (no tomato and no onion) and dr pepper. They are 4 minutes early. Jess is in a new era. They are going to go on a bus and head to San francisco. This memorial day weekend is expected to be the busiest travel weekend in 20 years. Jess will be at home hosting a soccer party tomorrow. It is a red eye flight and they will go immediately to the capital. They land at 3am California time. Jess is already starting to get emotional.
Jess has officially sent Lilia across the country alone. They are going to go see a movie to get Jess’s mind off of it. Chris just got home with Tommy. The seven of them are going to go see a movie. They have cotton candy skies. Lilia is in the sky right now or about to be. It's 8: 22 pm and her flight leaves at 9pm. Lilia has a redeye flight and then immediately they will go to the capital. It just occurred to Jess how much they have to do before tomorrow. Jess promised herself she would be done with the bathroom by the end of the week. Today is the end of the week. Jess is pretty much done; she just has to hang the shower curtain and put up the new decor and hardware. Chris is worse than the kids sometimes.
The bathroom lowkey feels like a little girl’s nursery. Once the peach decor is up we will get where Jess is coming from with it. We live and we learn. Jess does love it; it is just a little pink. Jess is going to clean it up and put in the hardware tonight or tomorrow morning. Tomorrow Jess has 40 12 year old boys that will be there. They booked the movie super late. They wanted to do the 730pm showing but only the front row was left and not enough for 7 people. They had to do the 9pm showing so they could get good seats. The kids could stay up all night if she let them but Jess couldn’t. Their bus is filled with a ton of things they need to donate. It is their storage place because they don’t have a garage. Everytime they have things to donate it gets put into the bus. There are not many seats available in it right now. They have to take 2 cars because they have too many kids.
Next day
They are getting ready for Kyson and Kaden’s soccer party. The whole team pitched in money and a couple of them organized what they would get for the coaches. A friend found a yeti cooler on sale. Everyone pitched in $20. Their coach has a British accent and they think the way he says spaghetti is hilarious. They crossed out the tti of spaghetti. This was Kaden’s idea. Jess is obsessed with how it came out. The kids helped Jess set up outside. It is a potluck. They set up some drinks and tables. The kids are going to swim.
Coach’s gift
  1. Yeti cooler
  2. Spaghetti
  3. Redbull
  4. Budweiser
  5. Aleve headache pain
  6. Swedish fish
  7. Clipboard
  8. 100$ gift card to to a restaurant
  9. Whistle

2024.05.31 21:25 Joe-LoPorto NRA v Vullo, the Trump Trial and 9/11

What do these things have in common? Not a heck of a lot, but bear with me.
Yesterday we got a fairly important ruling from SCOTUS in NRA v Vullo. On the holding itself, in my opinion, there should be little surprise. The Court held that the State of New York abused its regulatory power to coerce banks and insurance companies from doing business with the NRA in a manner that clearly was intended to suppress Constitutionally protected free speech. The trial record indicates that NY’s effort here extended well beyond the NRA as an organization with New York’s financial regulators warning banks and insurance companies to not conduct business with any group that advocates on behalf of the 2nd Amendment. Invidiousness, political bias and an extreme abuse of regulatory authority to target and undermine a legitimate political opponent. From the point of view of states like New York, on the broad question of gun control, this topic is at best, nationally, a 50/50 debate with half the American population believing that current gun control measures go too far and half believing it does not go far enough. And that is an extremely generous read on this issue from their point of view. Put differently, this isn’t just the State of New York (wrongly) abusing its power to suppress some extremist view. New York has decided that it is right and half of its citizens and half of the citizens of this nation are wrong. Not to overstate it, but this is states like New York not just grossly violating the First Amendment but undermining democracy itself by undermining political discourse on a topic for which there is no clear national consensus.
And then of course later in the day, we get the news on the Trump trial verdict: guilty on all counts. One day of jury deliberations.
I do not want to opine on the fairness of the proceedings themselves. Media coverage on both sides of this trial has been misleading all the way through and its often in stark contrast to the experience of the jury in these highly publicized trials. The jury is both seeing all of the evidence and none of the back and forth between lawyers and judges when they are excused from the courtroom. That fact alone always makes it hard to predict trial outcomes based on media coverage (since we are only seeing some of the evidence that makes the news and all the court room theater between lawyers and judges when the jury is out of the courtroom, in other words we see a very different version of things from what the jury sees). So let’s leave the trial itself aside.
In this case, let’s just focus on a few facts, namely key legal elements to the indictment and the procedural timeline. There are two pieces of information that I find noteworthy about the indictment itself. The business record law in question has never been applied to any defendant in its history as its being applied to Trump. And secondly, a central element to establishing the legal claim against Trump is that he knowingly violated Federal Election laws when the FEC/DOJ declined to prosecute him for any such violation.
Giving the State of New York the full benefit of the doubt, this is at best a novel interpretation of the law, involving a complex legal question that mixes federal and state law questions involving a highly sensitive and politically charged defendant.
So why do I bring up 9/11? Because on July 15th of this year, 2024, we will finally begin pre-trial hearings before a military court in the case of United States v Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, et al. KSM is one of several 9/11 co-conspirators that has been detained in Guantanamo Bay since the early 2000’s. KSM along with his other co-conspirators were held in secret until 2008 when charges against them were revealed (because the CIA was still extracting information from them in the hunt for Usama Bin Laden).
The announcement of those charges then triggered a year long debate on venue. That debate largely centered around the question of whether 9/11 detainees should be tried in a civilian court or a military court. In particular, the question centered around the appropriateness of the Federal District Court of the Southern District of New York.
In legal circles, the Southern District of New York is referred to as the “Mother Court.” Its know that way because it was technically established in 1789 before the US Supreme Court was established. And that court has handled some of the most complex cases in the history of the nation.
In 2009, then AG Eric Holder issued a final decision to move the 9/11 cases to New York. Of all US Federal Courts, the Mother Court would be the best choice (a history of handling complex cases, resources for security and the handling of classified documents, extensive DoJ resources in lower Manhattan). But that decision from Eric Holder then triggered a series of political and legal battles on venue, with one smaller aspect of that centering around whether a fair trial could be heard in the Southern District of New York given its close proximity to the World Trade Center site, i.e. could a fair and impartial jury be assembled in New York given its nexus to the WTC. In 2010, the Congress, through negotiations over that year’s Defense Authorization Act, forced the Obama administration to move the trial back to a military court. That order was signed in January of 2011. From 2011 until 2019, a series of legal issues were resolved regarding evidentiary issues, technical issues around the format of the court itself and the handling of prisoners (specifically whether female guards could handle the inmates during movements from their holding facilities to the black site courtroom where legal proceedings occurred, relying heavily on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993… I kid you not, this was a heavily litigated issue for an extended period of time, from early 2015 to early 2016).
At the conclusion of these evidentiary and procedural proceedings, in 2019 a trial date was finally set, tentatively to begin on January 11, 2021. But then the pandemic. Then more delays. Then more delays. Then in August of 2023, the Biden Administration announced to 9/11 victim families that a plea negotiation was underway that could potentially remove the most severe penalties for these 9/11 co-conspirators, namely the death penalty. And on May 6th, 2024, the DoD finally announced that pre-trial hearings will begin on July 15 of this year… 16 years after the initial charges were brought.
23 years after 9/11.
We could possibly, maybe, finally get justice for 9/11 victims vis a vis these defendants some time in 2025. Almost a quarter of a century later.
Why do I bring up this long diatribe about 9/11? The debate on just proper venue for 9/11 terrorists took longer than the entirety of the Trump trial. Trump was indicted in March of last year and was convicted yesterday in a complex legal case, involving complex federal and state law questions, where procedural and fairness questions would exist involving a highly politically charged defendant in a district where jury impartiality would be difficult to establish... In a state that was also just yesterday slapped by the Supreme Court for abusing its authority to carry out a political vendetta.
14 months, soup to nuts on Trump. 16 years of pre-pre-trial fairness proceedings for 9/11 terrorists before pre-trial proceedings can begin.
The debate on whether the use of female prison guards for the handling of 9/11 terrorists during court proceedings violated their religious freedom took longer than the entire Trump trial.
As I continue to emphasize, we have a serious political problem in this country. And it’s specifically in states like New York, New Jersey and California. The battle for the soul of the country is here. We have to work to change the political landscape here.

2024.05.31 20:21 DisneyScholar2012 Twilight Zone episodes like The Leftovers (HBO, 2014-2017)?

I'm a long time fan of the HBO show The Leftovers who is currently writing about the show in an academic context. One of the things I'm touching on is comparisons critics have made between The Leftovers (the show and the novel on which it's based) and The Twilight Zone. Stephen King specifically mentioned the Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" in his review of the novel for the New York Times in 2011.
For those who have seen both shows, are there any other episodes of The Twilight Zone that come to mind as being similar to The Leftovers? These similarities can be tonal in nature (episodes about loss, grief, and melancholy), but I'm especially interested in Twilight Zone episodes that include science-fictional and supernatural tropes that The Leftovers plays with -- including mysterious disappearances, parallel universes, twins, the afterlife, prophetic dreams, and the apocalypse?
A few already come to mind for me, such as the famous episode "Time Enough at Last", where the main character is the last person alive on Earth after a nuclear disaster. Are there any others?

Unisex perfume rec?
Looking for some unisex perfume recommendations.
My sister got me an apotheke jcrew candle and I wish I could bottle it up. It has notes of juniper and almonds. Are there any recs with similar notes?
Currently using light blue and would like similar scents
Thanks!

2024.05.31 12:56 cmakec What's your experience in the Midwest? New to WI

TL;DR: Temporarily in Milwaukee for a job, what are your recommendations?
So a little background: I've lived near new york my entire life - so I know essentially no one here. As for rules 1 and 2, I'd say I'm a solid 7/10 and a 7.5/10 on a good day. 6'0, East asian, 21. Cameras hate my guts though. I'd say I can strike a conversation with pretty much anyone.
I'm staying in Milwaukee for the next ten weeks for a summer job, and I'm hoping to make some friends and have fun, but having made most of my friends through college/college-affiliated clubs (junior here), I'm kinda at a loss.
There's pretty minimal interactions with other people at my job & only 30 year olds in my team (some married), so no dice there.
I know a lot of guys here suggest BJJ or other mixed martial arts, but I'm hoping to hold out on any martial arts until I get back to school, because I have essentially no health insurance atm and my job doesn't offer health lmao. Another common suggestion is Meetup, but that's also filled with 30-something year olds.
So far, I've taken a look at rec soccer, volunteering at animal shelters, humane society (?), going clubbing (but don't really have anyone to go with here - and I don't really go to clubs), or maybe doing a low-key job on the weekends so I can meet new people.
I know this sub is geared to mid-20s to mid-30s, but I appreciate any help! Also there are like zero Asians here lmao

Phish

Phish, Tuesday 05/31/2022 (2 years ago) Credit One Stadium, Charleston, SC, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2022 Spring Tour
Set 1 : Set Your Soul Free , Walls of the Cave , Sample in a Jar , Steam , My Friend, My Friend 1 > Sparkle , Ocelot , Leaves , The Squirming Coil
Set 2 : Axilla (Part II) > Also Sprach Zarathustra > Light > Mountains in the Mist , Meat , Golgi Apparatus 2 > Slave to the Traffic Light > Cavern
Encore : 46 Days > Tube
1 No "Myfe" ending. 2 Lyrics changed to "I saw you with a barcode in your hand."
Jamchart Notes:
Set Your Soul Free - A jam much more in line with the start of Set 2 than Set 1, boasting some warm and lovely electric piano work from Page, a really nifty minor-key exploration at Trey's urging, and a magnificent double-time finale.
Walls of the Cave - A refreshing jam (and set placement) in this first version since '04 to significantly deviate from the typical format. Extra effects use loosens things up early as it dips into a short-lived, but moody darker segment, and then the jam brightens considerably at 10:00 with Trey and Page pairing up nicely for dual leads, before finally working its way back to "WoTC" to conclude.
Also Sprach Zarathustra - Kicks off with some sprightly Trey soloing before diving into a puddle of grimy synth effects and concludes > to a strong "Light"
Light - > from "2001." The band feels connected and that connection is on display throughout this great jam. They work effortlessly as one organism as the feel and the tempo of the jam changes. > into "Mountains in the Mist."
46 Days - Another deceptive offering from Spring '22 provides about four minutes of type 2 exploration in the opening slot of the encore. While not accompanied by a massive peak, fluid and enjoyable jamming from all four members will have you bopping your head with a smile on your face.
Tube - A dense mind-scrambler of synths, impactful bass, and multi-toned guitar (including the "bullfrog"), then becomes even more frazzled before the final break. The most substantial "Tube" jam in the encore to date, and just about as good of a jam in any encore period.
Show Notes:
My Friend My Friend did not contain the "Myfe" ending. Mike sung part of Passing Through in Light. Golgi's lyrics were changed to "I saw you with a barcode in your hand." Trey and Fish teased Mr. Completely in 46 Days.

Gap Chart, Tour: 2011 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Chalk Dust Torture , Roggae > Punch You in the Eye , The Moma Dance > Rock and Roll , Sand , Tube > Divided Sky , Character Zero
Set 2 : After Midnight > Possum , Drowned > Maze , Dirt , Alaska , You Enjoy Myself
Encore : Fire
Jamchart Notes:
After Midnight - The jam tracks "After Midnight" fairly closely for a stretch, then around 9:00 it breaks into a nice upbeat groove which swiftly settles down.
Show Notes:
Trey dedicated Sand to "Max." YEM contained a Yakety Sax (It's Ice) tease from Mike. Fire contained alternate lyrics "move on over, let Cactus take over!"

Set 2 : Tweezer -> Light 2 , Bathtub Gin , David Bowie , Time Turns Elastic 2 , Free , The Ballad of Curtis Loew , You Enjoy Myself
Encore : Cavern , Good Times Bad Times , Tweezer Reprise
1 Debut. 2 Phish debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Ocelot - Debut.
Tweezer - "Theme from the Bottom" jam for a bit.
Light - Debut.
Show Notes:
The Star Spangled Banner was performed from the pitcher's mound. This show marked the debut of Ocelot and the Phish debuts of Light and Time Turns Elastic. Stash was preceded by Stash, It's Ice and Take Me Out to the Ballgame teases. Trey also teased Take Me Out to the Ballgame after Stash and again during Limb By Limb. After Time Turns Elastic, Trey jokingly announced, "That's our single." The Ballad of Curtis Loew was performed for the first time since August 2, 1993 (628 shows).

Set 1 : Big Leg Emma
Show Notes:

2024.05.31 05:15 FlatSwing9745 Haters Guide to the NBA Finals 2024

Disclaimer: If Tree does a video on this soon, I'm taking this post down.
If I were to describe this playoffs, chaos in the beginning but a raw unsatisfying ending. That about sums it up. Let’s meet the fallen soldiers.

Miami Heat
“WE WANT BOSTON!”
Oh, you wanted Boston? Well, you’ve got Boston. Let’s face it. Your season ended when Emo Jimmy succumbed to injury in the play-ins. It would be better advice to lay down and die to the Bulls, but you, however, chose the slow and painful death via the Celtics. Hell, I commend that you even stole a game from them. This only pissed off Boston more and proceeded to mutilate you Scarface style. Moral of the story, always close an offseason deal when you have it at the palm of your hands.
Philadelphia Sixers
Let the 2-7 seeding do not deceive you. The Sixers were, on paper, the better team… that is if Embiid were to ever get healthy. Even then he was an iron man in this series. But this series would not be competitive without another man that sends shivers down New York… Tyrese Maxey. His heroics in Game 5, look no further. But the Sixers lack one crucial thing… chemistry. Philadelphia’s chemistry left on a one-way ticket to New York. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, the Nova Boys showed up. Brunson putting up numbers we haven’t seen in the playoffs since MJ. Even with the Knicks shorthanded most of the time, they persevered. Another year of trusting the process and failing miserably. At least you don’t have Tobias Harris anymore.
*TobiasHarris.exe stopped working*
Seriously, no fucking points in an elimination Game 6?
Milwaukee Bucks
Speaking of the process, the Bucks and the Wisconsinites are getting a real taste of it. Doc Rivers never left his choking roots. How many times are we going to see a Big 3 squad ending in laughable failure? The series was undone by one man. Giannis. Out for the rest of the season for a calf strain. But we’re not done amplifying the pain. Tyrese Haliburton, the star player for the Pacers, didn’t even play like himself. You just got owned by Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, and Obi Toppin. How do you stoop so low even with Dame Time and Khris Middleton on your team? Miami is snickering in the background, by the way.
Orlando Magic
The future is bright for Orlando. They’ve shown that they could be something with this young talent. Paolo Banchero especially. It unfortunately had to end in heartbreaking fashion. Getting routed in Game 7 in Cleveland. Happens to the best. Especially when you go up against a balanced team like Cleveland.
New Orleans Pelicans
Saw this a mile away. In a recurring theme of star players being injured before the playoffs, Zion Williamson is out. With the Thunder still having SGA, they didn’t even try. Enjoy the sweep.
Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron has to face his demons once more: beating a team that has a younger European center. It was the defending champion again. For those of you calling LeBron washed, you may be right. On one hand, 30 points a game is exceptional for his age. On the other hand, he would get outplayed most of the time by his own teammate, Anthony Davis. With Jokic and Murray in their prime, it wasn’t even close. At least you didn’t get swept this time. Oh, by the way Lakers, if you don’t get Bronny in the draft, LeBron is likely going to leave. No pressure.
Phoenix Suns
You really are fucking pathetic. You had a healthy Big 3: Durant, Beal, and Booker. You have all this talent and you end up sniffing your own rear ends. You got SWEPT! By another pathetic franchise in the TIMBERWOLVES! That team hasn’t made it out of the first round in 20 YEARS! Why do you do this to Durant? First wasting away multiple years in Brooklyn and now sweltering under this heat? This bonafide pyramid scheme deserves Lolcow this playoffs. And because the Suns are impulsive in management, Frank Vogel was sacked after just one year. Now they try and roll the dice with Mike Budenholzer, who won the NBA Finals with the Bucks. How ironic.
Los Angeles Clippers
Congratulations, Clippers! You’re team STILL can’t make it past the first round! And it might’ve been your last shot to have a meaningful run. When you have James fucking Harden the best player out of your underwhelming performers, you know you’re in deep shit. It turns out that to take out a fully competent Harden, you need to nerf him with a former teammate of his in Kyrie Irving. And the less said about Doncic, the better. Game 5 was when you lost the series. It was a massacre in what will be the last game at Crypto.com Arena. Say goodbye to Paul George while you’re at it.
Cleveland Cavaliers
“WE WANT BOSTON”
Goddamnit, not you too, Cleveland! Alright, you want Boston? Here’s a heap of it. This time there are no excuses for it. You were fully healthy. It instead had to come to star power. Minus the P(orz)ingas injury, Boston still had Brown and Tatum to flaunt all over you. The Cavs only have Donovan Mitchell. Maybe Caris LeVert or Evan Mobley if they’re feeling like it. Darius Garland did nothing in this series. Glad you got one win out of it, but that only does so much for morale, not results.
New York Knicks
Let’s face it. The Knicks were destined to lose in the ECF with Julius Randle out due to injury. The same goes to Mitchell Robinson, and Bogdan, and OG Anunoby (for some games). But despite this, the Knicks kept their own. They are going toe to toe with a tough and deep Pacers squad, but they are only one win away from reaching their final destination. Game 6 awaits.
“WE WANT BOSTON!”
Wait? Why are they chanting for Boston NOW? They haven’t won the series yet! Oh dear god.
*colored bars*
Turns out Boston CAN possess other teams to do their bidding. Haliburton, Nembhart, and TJ McConnell would wake up Game 6. In Game 7 at MSG, it was an absolute bloodbath. The vaunted defense the Knicks had all year could not stop a leaky pipe. The injuries came back and haunted them and they had to rely on Alec Burks for offensive production. This series showed me something. The Knicks can’t get to the Finals, let alone the ECF, even when healthy, without a major headliner. This offseason is critical.
“RING THE BELL BABY! DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!”
OKC Thunder
It has been a magical year for the Thunder with them unleashing the full potential of SGA and developing Chet Holmgren. For division champs, you showed and proved a lot. However, there were missed opportunities that ultimately cost you the series with the Mavs. In Game 3, you led at the half. You proceeded to allow 16 unanswered points and give PJ Washington his best playoff showing. Elimination Game 6 was even worse. You took the lead with an alley-oop. All you need is to deny them a last shot to force Game 7. You proceed to… foul them on a three-point shot?! How stupid was that, SGA? I normally don’t blame any player for a loss, but that move was absolutely careless! The Mavs would win by one point. It’s only a matter of time before SGA escapes this hell hole. Like Durant before him.
Denver Nuggets
It was rather nice for the Nuggets to win a championship for once. Now back to their choking ways. The fact alone that Minnesota made this a series is baffling. It had to go to 7 games. In Game 7, Jamal Murray had himself a career game. But its not how you start that is most important, its how you finish. Anthony Edwards shuts off the Nuggets defense and pushes the lead to 10 with a handful of minutes left. It was enough to keep the game out of reach. Back on the ride you go, Nuggets. You probably will not get out in the next 50 years.
Indiana Pacers
“WE WANT BOSTON”
God, WHY DON’T FANS RESPECT THEIR OPPONENT FOR ONCE?! GOD FUCKING DAMMIT! Let’s do this again. Pacers, you wanted Boston? YOU GOT IT. And honestly, I don’t fucking care at this point. I wanted both teams to lose. And yes it comes in the territory as a Knicks fan. But the Pacers didn’t even attempt to play these games. Coupled with Haliburton being sacrificed for Pat McAfee’s sins, and you get a beatdown of epic proportions. They got swept. Not only that, three out of the four games they choked in the final minutes of the game. How do they even manage that? Oh right, Boston with their “Bostoning”. The Pacers were nowhere near ready for the spotlight and it showed. Nice job overall from Rick Carlisle but three chokes in a sweep is absolutely brutal.
Minnesota Timberwolves
What a season it had been for the Timberwolves. This team was nowhere near projected to finish this high, even with the veteran presence of Rudy Gobert and KAT. But there was a missing piece that had unlocked this team: Anthony Edwards, the former #1 pick. They were calling him the next Jordan, he was so good in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Wolves must meet their long overdue maker. What could go wrong in a series did go wrong. In Game 1, Antman and KAT ran out of gas and the Mavs would win by one point. Copy-paste the script and add a dagger three from Doncic for Game 2. In Game 3, Antman found rhythm again, but so did Doncic and Irving, as well as Daniel Gafford. Mavs were playing with house money in Game 4, which sets up Game 5. When you have Luka Doncic outscoring the entire team in the 1st quarter, what chance will you have? That is about as thorough as an ass spanking I’ve seen in the Western Conference. The Wolves may be back here again, maybe not, but they better not put up with this in the future.
*colored bars*
Let’s not waste any time here. Who are our two finalists this year?

Mavericks vs Celtics
*buzzer**You’re fucked!”
Mavs vs Celtics. Oh dear God. This is a different kind of fucked than most seasons. For one, the Celtics have been the best team all year. They had their core of Brown and Tatum for a while now and the last time they won it all was 2008. I should say its overdue, but it’s the Celtics. On the other hand, you have the Mavericks, who have Luka Doncic, another long overdue player to get his ring. But the thing about them is that they also have Kyrie Irving. Yes, the same Kyrie Irving that spent multiple years in Boston. And the same cancer that caused the Nets super team to explode. Would you be surprised that Irving is back in his form again? The Mavericks have been to the NBA Finals in 2006 and won it in 2011, more recently than Boston. The champions this year will either go to basketball’s Evil Empire or Irving. God its like choosing Hitler or Stalin to win. But to keep it reasonable, Celtics in 5. Fuck this season.
"WE WANT BOSTON!"
Fuck this season TILL ITS BACKWARDS!
