Hi, need advice about purchasing another MBA M1.

2024.05.21 16:22 DitoSmith Hi, need advice about purchasing another MBA M1.

Hi, first time poster. I bought a MBA M1 entry level with just 37 charging cicles for 500 bucks like a month ago. I feel like it was such a bargain, and i’m very pleased with it. I’m currently learning and getting used to macOS because been windows user my whole life. But now, well I just find (without looking for it, actually) another one, in mint condition, with just 7 charging cicles for the same price. But I already own one. I should buy another one? Maybe for selling it for 600 $? I’m not a seller. Idk, dont wanna let the chance pass. Any advice?

2024.05.21 16:21 MD-jojo High latency and audio/performance stutter when gaming ?

so I've had this problem for about 3 weeks now , it started when I was playing Helldivers 2 and the audio randomly started stuttering and lagging like hell, I didn't really care bc it was pretty rare and not that bad, but at some point it just started affecting other games and just about anything.
I tried to look around and fix it and have tried several tips and tricks to get rid of it (I use a laptop btw): -disabling the Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller driver (helped a lot after this it stopped stuttering at all times) -followed everything here https://www.reddit.com/techsupport/comments/13avw59/fix_for_high_dpc_latency_wdf01000_ntoskrnl/ -tried this too
View: https://youtu.be/2KUz8J8PRSI
-tried this
View: https://youtu.be/S8pmiwLfMlg
-Disabling the WLAN driver does not do much plus I need it so can't get rid of that -disabling high precision event timer (kinda did nothing idk) -The Bios is already up to date (it was that way when I checked) -I didn't mess around in Bios yet if that matters -chipset driver is already up to date -I even tried the whole Interrupt Affinity Policy Tool, but that only made my computer worse so I just reverted back to normal
I also use Voicemeeter Potato which I noticed that it does increase latency a bit but it's not the core problem as I still get stuttering even without it running.
So at this point there's no stuttering when using the computer for normal things YT etc but once I start playing a game no matter how performance heavy it is the stuttering will happen at some point.

2024.05.21 16:19 GlitchStick09 VM with GPU Passthrough Slowing to a Crawl

I’ve been banging my head for the last week trying to sort out an issue I have with a Windows 11 VM slowing down to an unusable state after a day or so of uptime. Anything that might point me towards a fix is greatly appreciated.
My server has a both a Tesla P100 in the top PCI-E slot and a Radeon Pro WX 2100 for video out in the bottom PCI-E slot. The P100 passes through as a vGPU to a Windows 11 VM.
When I have the P100 passed through to the VM, it slows to a crawl within a day. If I restart the VM it returns to normal and is as snappy as I expect. This only affects the one VM with GPU passthrough and does not effect any other VM/LXC on the host. I also have a TrueNAS VM that has a SAS card passed through to it and doesn’t cause me any issues. Nvidia drivers are installed on the VM and I can run stress tests no problem while it behaves for the first day.
Server Specs: Dual Xeon e5-2696 v2 128GB ECC DDR3 Nvidia Tesla P100 running vGPU AMD Radeon Pro WX 2100 Proxmox VE 7.4-17 Kernel 6.2.16-20
VM Config: 2 Sockets, 4 Cores, 8 vCPUs - host,numa=1,cpulimit=8 8GB RAM - balloon=0 OVMF (UEFI) q35-7.2 VirtIO SCSI single scsi0 - cache=writeback,iothread=1,ssd=1 hostpci0 - 0000:03:00.0,mdev=nvidia-148,pcie=1,romfile=p100.rom
I haven’t tried swapping the slots I have the two GPU’s in, it was something I thought about but wasn’t sure how much of a difference it would make. Without the GPU passed through the VM works perfectly.
If you made it this far, I appreciate your time even if you don’t have a suggestion I thank you. I’m hppy to provide any information I’ve left out.

2024.05.21 16:17 topdeadcntr Seeking refuge from VMware

After using VMware for over a decade, I just had a terrible experience with a new install of Workstation 17 on a Windows 11 host. My old VMs were unusable on 17. Support was not good. If I could’ve figured out my issue, I would’ve just kept using VMware.
Now, I am looking for an alternative. I’ve been reading through posts and there’s an incredible amount of detail available. I’ve been lucky enough apply VMware in a simple/utilitarian way hasn’t required all that much knowledge. I’ve always been able to figure out how to map drives, connect hardware, etc without help. Virtualization is not my core competency but that’s where VMware fit in for me.
As for finding an alternative, I have a very unsophisticated use case. I used VMware to virtualize physical machines so that I can still access old software platforms. I also keep clean VMs for new installations.
-The host is Windows 11. -I need to virtualize Windows XP/7/10 physical machine(s) in a way leaves the software licensing(not just Windows) intact within the VM. -I need to create a clean Windows VMs and duplicate them for installs where I need to keep versions separate.
I like the idea Proxmox being FOSS. Seems like VirtualBox is second to VMware in installed base. But frankly, I’m not equipped to evaluate all these products.
I could use some advice.

2024.05.21 16:13 LadyAmy04 Help…early morning wakings

One of our twins (they just turned 10 months) has been waking up quite early (between 4:50 and 5:45am) everyday for the past few weeks. Her crying then wakes the other twin up. She doesn’t stop until I come in to breastfeed her. Then they sometimes go back to sleep for a little bit but usually not. How do I ameliorate this situation?
They have been tending toward taking one nap the past few days. Is it too early for this?
I have tried pushing their first nap time later and earlier bed time but it hasn’t helped much. Their room has been on the warmer side, low 70s, so we have had them sleeping in their diaper with their sleep sack.
I have attached yesterday’s sleep schedule. I would appreciate any feedback or advice!! Thank you.

2024.05.21 16:13 ansithethird We are in a dire need of a Good OS for x86-64 architecture system.

Let's talk about the pills, there is Red Pill, there is blue pill. There's Linux (yes I'm more of a Linux fanboy than Windows) and there's Windows. Even though my liking towards Linux, I can't reject the existence of Windows, matter of fact, my primary OS now is Windows, simply due to it's software support. Yes, yes, there are open source "alternative", and even on windows I continue to use them simply because I am more familiar with them. However, their "alternativeness" isn't that much. Lots of feature missing, some not being updated in years, bugs and so on. And then there's Windows - simply put, it's an horrendous mess. The greediness from Microsoft is just growing, invading everything. The reason why I'm finally even posting this thread is because of the recent shithole the MS is creating - Windows' having "Photographic memory" which will snapshot your screen after some duration. Are you even being real here? What's the necessity? Who cares about this feature? How do you think this will appeal to public? They even admitting "well, we can't stop taking the snapshot of password or banking information." Then why? Just freaking why? And then there are rumors of Windows 12 being cloud based. What the hell man? On one hand - we have a buggy family of OS (except for Linux Mint, which is somewhat stable and does shit as expected) and then on other hand - we have... Windows.
And truth to be told, I really don't have any solution that I can even think of. If we want Windows to continue as our primary, we need to stop what they are trying to do, which is not possible, because it's a fking corpo. The only way it seems like we need to put all of our money on funding Linux projects - which is probably something that we can think of in an utopia.
Can we go back to the days of Windows 7 now? Please?

2024.05.21 16:08 veryrealtordoge [PC] [1996-2008] Banana People Mob game

I remember a game from the windows 95 - windows xp, possibly 7 era, about people that looked like bananas or may have been actual talking bananas. The only thing I remember is an option to go to the top of a building, I think via a ladder then getting chased off by birds, I think seagulls. I think it had 3D ps2 like graphics. It had a mobster-ish vibe too, the game starting off by talking to other banana people in a fancy looking office.

2024.05.21 16:03 nogrob Need help fine-tuning Llama3 for log anomaly detection

Hello everyone.
I need help fine-tuning Llama3 to analyse exception messages from log files generated by a Windows application.
I created a dataset in huggingface with a lot of possible inputs, which are the exception messages, and the outputs, which are divided into 7 categories:
However, the dataset is very small and when I'm testing the model I'm noticing either wrong answers or a lot of hallucinations.
I'm also using Unsloth and the Colab code to fine-tune Llama3.
The dataset: https://huggingface.co/datasets/agoncalves/log_excp_messages . There are only 146 rows as I can not find anymore examples to feed the model.
Important to note that the only thing I've changed in the Colab code was removing the "instruction" variable, adding temperature=0 and changing the dataset from alpaca to mine.
Should I change something else? Or perhaps changing the dataset? I'm still a beginner and there are a lot of things I don't understand.
Any tips are welcome.
Thank you

2024.05.21 15:58 Resolume-VJ-Software Resolume 7.20 is Out Now!

https://youtu.be/QTySWA6R6Q4
Color Types Wire 7.20 introduces the Color Type. This new type allows you to be much more flexible with your color management in Wire. The Color In and Color nodes will now produce a color type. Additionally we've added the Color from RGB and Color from HSB nodes that increase your color making capabilities. The Analogous Colors and Complementary Colors nodes will produce a color palette for you, based on the input color. The Color Type can be unpacked to get individual components of the color. The much requested Sample Texture node has also arrived with this update, which allows you to sample colors from a texture. As cherry on the cake, we've updated effects like Hue Rotate, Greyscale, AddSubtract and Bright.Contrast to accept the Color type, allowing you to apply these effects directly to colors.
Hardware Stats For Resolume 7.20 we've updated the way the hardware stats and FPS are displayed in Arena, Avenue and Wire. The "Show FPS" option in the "output"-menu is gone. The option is renamed to "Show FPS & Stats" and has moved to the "view"-menu. The hardware stats are now visually the same in all three programs. The hardware stats are displayed in a bar at the bottom of your interface and display the FPS, together with GPU, CPU and RAM usage. We've also greatly increased the accuracy of these stats on macOS.Node
Stats Panel Continuing the trend of monitoring your performance, We added a new panel to Wire: the stats panel. In this panel you can track how the load is distributed among your nodes. This is very useful to find where the bottlenecks are in your patch.
CTRL + F Node Search Searching is a very fast way to find the node you're looking for instead of zooming & panning your way around a big spaghetti patch. Hit CTRL + F on Windows and ⌘ + F on macOS. The Stats panel will focus and you can start typing straight away. All nodes matching your search query will be listed. Click the one you're looking for and it will be highlighted in the patch and the Node panel.
Improved Text and Mesh rendering The Text Render and Mesh Render nodes are now much faster when rendering a lot of instances so you can now go crazy and take it up to 11. Or 11.000 if you really want to set your hair on fire. Tutorial
Overhaul Wire 7.20 is a great point of entry if you want to learn how to work with Resolume's node based coding environment. We've overhauled the entire tutorial section to get you up and running with Wire in no-time.
Strokes Effect Built entirely with the new Wire features, this new effect in Arena & Avenue gives a nice van Gogh painterly look by applying angled brush strokes. You can clone it and make your own variations in Wire.

2024.05.21 15:54 Mr_We-Wealth_Expert **What's Happening in the Canadian Housing Market Right Now? (2024)**

**What's Happening in the Canadian Housing Market Right Now? (2024)**
There has been an interesting shift happening in Canada's housing market recently. According to the latest report from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), the number of active listings across the country has surged for the third consecutive month in April 2024.
This increase in inventory levels has resulted in the national market becoming the most balanced it has been since before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Here are some of the key details:
**Home Prices Stable**
The National Composite Home Price Index remained flat from March to April, showing a third straight month of price stability. On a year-over-year basis, the index dipped just 0.9% - the first decline since last July. The actual national benchmark home price in April 2024 was $719,400 - unmoved from March but down a modest 0.6% compared to April 2023.
**Sales Down Slightly**
While new listings rose 2.8% month-over-month in April, contributing to the 6.5% jump in total inventory levels, home sales activity dipped by 1.7% between March and April 2024. However, sales were only slightly below the 10-year average.
**Balanced Market Conditions**
As April ended, the national sales-to-new-listings ratio eased to 53.4%, just shy of the 55% threshold that represents a balanced housing market. A range between 45-65% is considered a balanced zone, whereas higher ratios signal a seller's market and lower ratios indicate buyers' market conditions.
**Rare Opportunity for Buyers**
CREA's new chair highlighted that this spring market represents a rare advantage for buyers who have been largely shut out in recent years:
"Mortgage rates are still high, and it remains difficult for a lot of people to break into the market but, for those who can, it's the first spring market in some time where they can shop around, take their time and exercise some bargaining power."
However, he cautioned that it's hard to say how long this window of opportunity will last given the underlying demand.
**Regional Variations**
While new listings surged across most markets, a few areas like London/St. Thomas, Saskatoon and Niagara bucked the trend. Home prices also declined more steeply in Victoria (-2.2%), Newfoundland/Labrador (-1.3%) and the Fraser Valley (-0.7%).
In summary, after years of extremely tight conditions and scorching price growth, Canada's housing market has achieved a rare balanced state in early 2024. Buyers currently have more inventory to choose from and a bit more negotiating power, though high mortgage rates remain an obstacle. How long this window lasts remains to be seen.

Hello! Sorry for any grammar mistakes in advance, I'm Hungarian. So I've been dealing with this problem since last October. I bought an Asus TUF RX 6900 XT near the end of 2022 and it worked flawlessly for nearly a year then these random black screens started to appear. I shouldn't even say black screen because the monitor just doesn't get any signal. My MSI motherboard does the 1 long 2 short beeps that indicates graphics card issue according to their site. After this I have to power down the PC. The reset button doesn't work. I tried so many things already:
- Changing the cable, trying both HDMI and displayport in different ports on both the monitor and the card - Did a DDU session, even resinstalled Windows and upgraded to 11 from 10 - Updated the drivers many times since the issue started to appear.
-I updated the motherboard chipset drivers as well and even the BIOS in my desperation - I took out the card, cleaned it, plugged in different power cables after re inserting it - Checked the temps while gaming and they are completely fine. Edge temp is barely above 60 and hotspot is around 75. - I did a VRAM test and everything was fine - Undervolted and underclocked the card
- Run different stress tests: Built in Adrenalin, Furmark and Furmark 2, Superposition but these never produced a crash even after half an hour. If you think the PSU might be at fault, well not very likely. Even after I used MPT and let my card pull 410 watts while I also stress tested my overclocked Ryzen 5 5600 that also pulled nearly 90 watts, my Thermaltake Toughpower 850W platinum was doing just fine. Meanhwile crashes still happen when my card only uses about 200w in certain games. Funny thing is I managed to overlock my card to get 12414 points in Superposition 1080p extreme which is among the best air cooled RX 6900 XTs LOL.
- I changed my 4x8 Gb Corsair ram kits to 2x16 G.skill - The warranty is still active but guess what? All they did was running a 3D Mark stress test for 10 minutes and of course that didn't crashed so they said the card is fine...
So about the games. Some games are straight up unplayable like the new Indika or Horizon Zero Dawn and crashes happen after a few minutes or even seconds, meanwhile Death Stranding (that uses the same engine) has never crashed. There is also a middle ground with other games like Cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate 3 or Fallout 76 that can run for hours but still produce a crash sometimes. Some of these games use different launchers and they are on different SSD's. One SSD is NVME the other one is SATA. So quite a lot of things are already ruled out.
Next I'm planning to change the CPU to a Ryzen 7 5700X but I highly doubt that would solve the problem.
Any ideas what else could be done?

Is Acer swift go 14 oled any good?
Is it any good? I mainly want to use it for programming/coding. Heard that it has some heating problems and also heard that battery backup is not good, being an evo laptop. So wanted to confirm those things and also is there any other laptop better than it. My budget is around 60-70k

A WHITE HAT OFFICER'S WIFE was FOUND DEAD, in the COUPLE'S IDLING VEHICLE in the GARAGE attached to their Fayetteville, North Carolina, HOME, a SOURCE in GENERAL ERIC M. SMITH'S OFFICE Said. March 25, 2024.
A White Hat officer’s wife was found dead last Thursday in the couple’s idling vehicle in the garage attached to their Fayetteville, North Carolina, home, a source in General Eric M. Smith’s office told Real Raw News.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., the husband—sources are not presently sharing names—returned home from nearby Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg, where he had been at work since 7:30 a.m.—and found his wife’s limp body slumped over the steering wheel in her older model Camaro. The doors and windows were closed but unlocked, and the engine was hot, as though it had been running for a significant amount of time.
According to an incident report, the officer pulled his wife’s body from the vehicle and began administering CPR, pausing only long enough to dial emergency services at Fort Liberty, a few miles from their residence. The answering party informed him that since he lived off-post, protocol mandated he call Fayetteville EMS, which had speedier response times.
The officer gave an authorization code that made the answering party change her tune. She instructed the officer to continue CPR until Fort Liberty EMS arrived on the scene, which they did with miraculous speed—a response time of only seven minutes.
EMS checked the wife’s vitals—she had none—and rushed to Womack Army Medical Center with the grieving officer riding in the back of the ambulance and clasping his wife’s pallid palm. She was pronounced dead on arrival, speculatively of carbon monoxide poisoning, with a toxicologic panel still pending.
Our source said that White Hats in the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are, for several reasons, treating the wife’s death as suspicious, though they almost immediately cleared the husband as a potential person of interest.
“She was a fit 33-year-old woman with no history of mental illness. Accidental carbon monoxide poisoning is extremely rare. They had no history or marital issues outside the ordinary. And he was on base at her time of death,” our source said.
The investigators who performed forensics on the car uncovered what they called evidence of foul play. For example, the driver’s side door handle had only one set of prints—the husband’s, for he had opened the handle to pull her from the driver’s seat. They had expected to also find her prints on the handle, the center console, and other surfaces, but the only prints belonging to the wife were lifted from the steering wheel. They found no anomalous hairs or fibers other than hers and her husband’s.
The decedent’s body, our source said, had no indicators of a struggle having taken place—no bruises or lacerations. And neither the couple’s home nor garage showed signs of forced entry.
Besides those factors, investigators had a more compelling reason to suspect dirty deeds had taken place: the husband had been involved in undercover White Hat operations and may have become known to the Deep State.
Our source would not elaborate on what the husband’s duties entailed.
“These nefarious types aren’t above assassinating family members, so that’s obviously a concern. The guy says there’s no way in hell his wife would’ve offed herself. We’re still waiting for the tox screen and other tests.”
Asked whether the couple’s home had surveillance such as a Ring doorbell or interior cameras, he said, “Some things we can’t share right now, but CID is thorough and will get to the bottom of what happened.”
Note: I should receive word from GITMO on Garland’s tribunal this afternoon, and I will cobble together an article immediately after.

2024.05.21 15:41 Linuxologue VFIO success: Linux host, Windows or MacOS guest with NVMe+Ethernet+GPU passthrough

After much work, I finally got a system running without issue (knock on wood) where I can pass a GPU, Ethernet device and NVMe disk to the guest. Obviously, the tricky part was to pass the GPU as everything else went pretty easily. All defvices are released to the host when the VM is not running it.
Hardware: - Z790 AORUS Elite AX - 14900K intel with integrated GPU - Radeon 6600 - I also have an NVidia card but it's not passed through
Host: - Linux Debian testing - Wayland (running on the Intel GPU) - Kernel 6.7.12 - None of the devices are managed through the vfio-pci driver, they are managed by the native NVMe/realtek/amdgpu drivers. Libvirt takes care of disconnecting the devices before the VM is started, and reconnects them after the VM shuts off. - I have set up internet through wireless and wired. Both are available to the host but one of them is disconnected when passed through to the guest. This is transparent as Linux will fall back on Wifi when the ethernet card is unbound.
I have two monitors and they are connected to the Intel GPU. I use the Intel GPU to drive the desktop (Plasma 5). The same monitors are also connected to the AMD GPU so I can switch from the host to the VM by switching monitor input. When no VM is running, everything runs from the Intel GPU, which means the dedicated graphic cards consume very very little (the AMDGPU driver reports 3W, the NVidia driver reports 7W), fans are not running and the computer temperature is below 40 degrees (Celsius)
I can use the AMD card on the host by using DRI_PRIME=pci-0000_0a_00_0 %command% for OpenGL applications. I can use the NVidia card by running __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command% . Vulkan, OpenCL and Cuda also see the card without setting any environment variable (there might be env variables to set the prefered device though)
WINDOWS:
MACOS:
MACOS GPU PASSTHROUGH:
This was quite a lot of trial and error. I made a lot of changes to make this work so I can't be sure everything in there is necessary, but here is how I finally got macOS to use the passed through GPU: - I have the GPU on host bus 0a:00.0 and pass it on address 00:0a.0 (notice bus 0 again, otherwise the card is not visible) - Audio is also captured from 0a:00.1 to 00:0a.1 - I dumped the vbios from the Windows guest, sent it to the host through ssh (kind of ironic) so I can pass it to the host - Debian uses apparmor and the KVM processes are quite shielded, so I moved the vbios to a directory that is allowlisted (/usshare/OVMF/) kind of dirty but works. - In the host BIOS, it seems I had to disable resizable BAR, above 4G decoding and above 4G MMIO. I am not 100% sure that was necessary, will reboot soon to test. - the Linux dumped vbios didn't work, I have no idea why. The vbios dumped from Linux didn't have the same size at all, so I am not sure what happened. - macOS device type is set to iMacPro1,1 - The QXL card needs to be deleted (and the spice viewer too) otherwise macOS is confused. macOS is very easily confused. - I had to disable some things in the config.plist: I removed all Brcm Kexts (fro broadcom devices) but added the Realtek kext instead, disabled the AGPMInjector. Added agdpmod=pikera in boot-args.
After a lot of issues, macOS finally showed up on the dedicated card.
AMDGPU FIX:
When passing through the AMD gpu to the guest, I ran into a multitude of issues: - the host Wayland crashes (kwin in my case) when the device is unbound. Seems to be a KWin bug (at least KWin5) since the crash did not happen under wayfire. That does not prevent the VM from running anyway, but kind of annoying as KWin takes all programs with it when it dies. - Since I have cables connected, kwin seems to want to use those screens which is silly, they are the same as the ones connected to the intel GPU - When reattaching the device to the host, I often had kernel errors ( https://www.reddit.com/NobaraProject/comments/10p2yr9/single_gpu_passthrough_not_returning_to_host/ ) which means the host needs to be rebooted (makes it very easy to find what's wrong with macOS passthrough...)
All of that can be fixed by forcing the AMD card to be bound to the vfio-pci driver at boot, which has several downsides: - The host cannot see the card - The host cannot put the card in D3cold mode - The host uses more power (and higher temperature) than the native amdgpu driver I did not want to do that as it'd increase power consumption.
I did find a fix for all of that though: - add export KWIN_DRM_DEVICES=/dev/dri/card0 in /etc/environment to force kwin to ignore the other cards (OpenGL, Vulkan and OpenCL still work, it's just KWin that is ignoring them). That fixes the kwin crash. - pass the following arguments on the command line: video=efifb:off video=DP-3:d video=DP-4:d (replace DP-x with whatever outputs are connected on the AMD card, use for p in /sys/class/drm/*/status; do con=${p%/status}; echo -n "${con#*/card?-}: "; cat $p; done to discover them) - ensure everything is applied by updating the initrd/initramfs and grub or systemd-boot. - The kernel gives new errors: [ 524.030841] [drm:drm_helper_probe_single_connector_modes [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR* No EDID found on connector: DP-3. but that does not sound alarming at all.
After rebooting, make sure the AMD gpu is absolutely not used by running lsmod grep amdgpu . Also, sensors is showing me the power consumption is 3W and the temperature is very low. Boot a guest, shut it down, and the AMD gpu should be safely returned to the host.
WHAT DOES NOT WORK: due to the KWin crash and the AMDGPU crash, it's unfortunately not possible to use a screen on the host then pass that screen to the guest (Wayland/Kwin is ALMOST able to do that). In case you have dual monitors, it'd be really cool to have the right screen connected to the host then passed to the guest through the AMDGPU. But nope. It seems very important that all outputs of the GPU are disabled on the host.

2024.05.21 15:39 TheLostMaverick Building a PC for my wife who has had her gaming awakening! - Help greatly appreciated! [UK][MicroATX][~£1k]

Hello all, as it says in the title I'm looking to build my wife a PC. She has recently opened her eyes to the wonders of PC gaming. She's always been a console player (Was terrified of mouse and keyboard) but after playing Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 she thought she would like to try Baldurs Gate 3 which I had on PC. Safe to say she enjoyed that and now has a backlog of games she wants to play which is longer than my arm. This is great but we only have one PC and no laptop which means that if she's on my PC I can't use it and vice versa. This, in her own words, has become; "An untenable situation.". We don't own a laptop and we're not too keen on going down that particular route.
Onto the topic of the build! We know we would like the build to be a MicroATX as the space that the PC will be going isn't really suitable for a Mid or Full tower. We'd like the PC to be able to comfortably run games like Hogwarts Legacy, BG3 but also have a some scope to play upcoming games at 1080p. Not as interested in building a fully futureproof 1440p beast that will break the bank.
It's been a while since the height of my PC building era and having come back into it, in a formfactor I'm not used to, after a several year hiatus, I feel overwhelmed. I've tried wading through the quagmire of forums, reviews, tech YouTube channels and opinions and I've arguable come out in worse shape than I went in with. So with all that being said, I'd really appreciate if those of you who were willing and able would cast your savvy peepers on the below list and give it some constructive criticism. Feel free to ask any questions!
I'm trying to keep the build in the ~£1,000 range, ideally below as we do have some peripherals to buy.
TL:DR: I need help building a MicroATX PC, I've got the draft list below and would appreciate constructive criticism. I have an old PSU but don't know if it's of any use for this build:
PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/HKrmTY
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor (Stock Cooler) (£121.32 @ NeoComputers)
Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£104.99 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory (£38.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (£69.99 @ Ebuyer)
Video Card: Asus DUAL OC Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB Video Card (£333.53 @ NeoComputers)
Case: Cooler Master Q300L V2 MicroATX Mini Tower Case (£53.97 @ Amazon UK)
PSU: TBC (I have an old Corsair RM650W Fully Modular 80+ Gold, from 2015, too old to reuse?)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit (£108.98 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Total: £831.77

2024.05.21 15:32 tkerbel Jealous cat

I have 2 fur babies one is M(7) and the other is F(5). They have lived together for 4 years, and until I moved in with my boyfriend a year ago, they have been fine with one another. Now my M cat is starting to get grumpy, and will occasionally pee on my bed while I am at work. I took him to the vet and they gave him an all clear medically, it was just behavioral. He doesn’t like when I give any attention to my other cat, and will chase her off when she try’s to get pets. I have bought 2 separate litter boxes and they are in separate rooms. I scoop them every other day and change out the litter weekly. They have 2 separate stainless steel water fountains, and 5 separate stainless steel food bowls around the house. I have a scratching post in every room, and they have perches in most of the windows. I don’t know how much more attention, or accommodation I can give him to make him feel comfortable in his environment. I’ve tried the feliway cat plug ins for multi cat household, and I’ve tried calming chews. I’ve tried wet treats in the morning, which makes him feel entitled to wet treats daily and if not received, pee is in my bed when I return home. I am not looking to rehome either of them. I just want to make him happy again. He’s my little cuddle bug. Any advice would be much appreciated!!
