2024.05.18 19:03 lavendrmenace Fridge without 12v outlet?

I'm looking to buy a car to travel around with for a few months, but I've noticed most of them don't have the 12v cigarette lighter that you need to run a fridge. I've been searching a lot, but I haven't found a solution for this: I can't find a usb to 12v converter that is decently reviewed, fridges you can run on usb are also rare and poorly reviewed and preferably I don't want to buy an entire powerstation. Anybody have any tips? (I'm located in the Netherlands, if that changes anything)

Cummins Dodge - ECU not sending power to fuel pump, on start not setting commanded fuel pressure - bad ECU? Manually test fuel pump control
Hello folks. 3500 Ram 2012 6.7L crank no start. I hooked Alfa OBD and I see "Commanded fuel pressure" is ZERO when engine cranks. I expected it to be around 5000psi. I also noticed fuel pump is not priming on MAR nor it runs when cranking.
I suspected bad fuel pump relay. Jumped it, fuel pump works but still no start, still zero commanded pressure in Alfa OBD. With Alfa OBD active diagnostics tried enabling lift pump relay - nothing.
My guess is ECU is bad. It's a CM2200 ECU. Unplugged, checked all ground pins and power supply - all good, ignition pin is good too. I used these pins on C2 grey connector:
  • ground...pin 2, pin 4, pin 6
  • battery constant...pin 3, pin 5
  • ignition-on trigger...pin 70 (and 71)
My next hunch - according to wiring diagram (see attached), ECU should send fuel pump control signal from ECU C2 pin 25 to TIMP C1 pin 40. And this is where it is becoming weird. On key ACC/MAR position (the one before crank) it gives 2.5v from ECU. When I trigger "Enable lift pump" in AlfaOBD it drops to zero for a few secs, then gets back to 2.5v. Sounds really wrong to me, I was expecting to see zero going to +12v when lift pump enabled.
Trying to verify lift pump relay circuit I manually sent +12v from battery directly to TIMP C1 pin 40 which is relay control according to wiring. Nothing happens, fuel pump not activated, no relay clicks. This puzzles me - should I be able to enable fuel pump by sending 12v directly from battery to instead of ECU relay control circuit? Or is it more complex than that? (wiring diagram shows fuel pump control circuit goes from ECU C2 pin 25 to BRN 40 on TIMP C1 and then through fuel pump relay to SEC RLY - not sure what it is. So it's possible, I guess, that by just sending +12v to BRN 40 on TIMP C1 I won't activate fuel pump relay unless this SEC RLY is also activated. Am I right? Or should I see it clicking when sending +12v to BRN 40 on TIMP C1?
What do you guys think? Any hints on where to go from here? It sounds inlikely to me that both TIPM fuel pump relay AND ECU gone bad. Bad zero commanded pressure form ECU and this weird voltage on fuel pump control from ECU tell me ECU might be an issue.

Hey, we have a 4 month old and regularly spend nights away in our van. It has a leisure battery and USB sockets and 12v car cigarette lighter sockets. We're looking for a wireless baby monitor where we can use the camera in our campervan so we can have a bit of peace of mind when hanging out just outside at nap time or in the evening and not feeling like we have to stay super quiet to hear him if he wakes or have to check in on him every 5 minutes! At home we have a hellobaby monitor but obviously it plugs in to mains so would love some suggestions?

2024.05.17 12:21 Ok-Mix-9225 Powerstream Microinverter with car cigarette lighter cable - input limit

Hi community,
I have a Bluetti AC200Max Batterystation connected with the Powerstream 600W Microinverter for only discharging the battery. Therefore I have used the Ecoflow connection cable with cigarette lighter plug. This connection is limited to 100W - clear. So I cut off the cigarette lighter plug and connected the cable to the 30A/12V connection of the Bluetti battery station. ( should be able to deliver about 360 W) But the Powerstream does NOT handle 360W und limits to 100W - like it did before with the cigarette lighter plug. I have checked all settings in the Ecoflow app - and made sure that the power consumption is set to 600W. I can lower it to 50W for example - that works fine. But nothing more than 100W.
Any help appreciated ! ;)
Thanks !

2024.05.15 17:57 palshah26 How did you wire your dashcam?

My civic has the idle stop feature in it. I got a dashcam (VIOFO 229 Plus front and rear) and I wanted to install it. The thing is if I use the ACC Fuse (hardwiring) the camera will shut off and back on every time the car shuts off the engine on idle stop. With the 12v Cigarette Lighter Port, I won’t be able to use the parking mode cause if I would it would drain the battery.
Any suggestions on how to go around the installation of the dash cam and how you did it (if you have one installed)?

2024.05.13 22:49 LCSeefy head unit upgrade

I've recently bought a 2006 Suzuki Jimny, and I'm looking to buy a new headunit. But I have no clue where to start to look for one. I'd like something with AirPlay, but all the ones I've looked at have been a little more than I want to spend (but if they really make a difference, would definitely consider it). I've seen those android and linnex screens on AliExpress, which I know probably aren't the greatest, but if anyone has any experience, positive or negative, would be appreciated. Or should I use a Bluetooth FM converter that you put in the cigarette lighter 12v? I've also bought four new speakers to fit if that makes a difference. I'm also in the UK.

2024.05.13 02:28 Rstephens0077 Moonroof woes

I have a 2012 and surprise the moonroof stopped working. So I did some googling and ended up changing the motor. Now both the shade and the moonroof arent working. Ive checked fuses 8 and 38 respectively and even changed them just in case but still no movement. All google seems to show me is motor replacement and resetting but I need further trouble shooting guidance. Does anyone know if there is a sunroof brainbox or have a pinout of the connectors? I do have 12v on the obvious power wires but the controls are a different story. I dont know what is supposed to do what. I need to clean my gutters but am finding it difficult with the roof closed.

2024.05.12 03:33 mark54398 Van electrical - splitting rocker panel DC outlet

I'm at the "know enough to be dangerous" stage of van electrical knowledge and want to ask a question before I try something.
My van has an Inergy Powerstation 1500 battery stack, similar to this one. One of the DC ports on the power station connects to a LP detector and the other connects to a rocker switch fuse panel similar to this one, which has four 15 amp fuses.
The rocker panel only has one DC plug port (not sure the proper name for this), that looks like the DC port a car would have for plugging in phone charger.
I want to split that port into 3 DC plug ports so that I can have my Laveo Dry flush toilet and my 12V fan (similar to this one) plugged in at the same time and have an extra port for miscellaneous items I might hookup like my 12V electric kettle.
I found this splitter on Amazon which has a 15amp fuse.
Questions -
1) My theory is that since each of the devices mentioned above (toilet, fan, electric kettle) have worked fine individually for years (swapping the device plugged into the one port on the rocker switch panel) that if I plug all three devices into the splitter, then each device should work fine individually because both the rocker panel and the splitter have a 15amp fuse.
Does that logic hold up? I'm on a trip right now and I'd like to buy this thing without trying to figure out the collective load of multiple devices operating at the same time. It's easy for me to just use one at a time for now (or forever, really), but not having to swap plugs is would be really nice.
2) My other theory is that if I accidentally used more than one device at a time through the splitter, and that was too much load for the port on the rocker switch panel to handle (15 amp fuse), then the 15amp fuse on the splitter would blow first, protecting the fuse on the rocker panel.
Does that logic hold up?
This is a piece of mind thing because, being on a trip, blowing the fuse on the rocker panel would be a big PITA whereas blowing the fuse on the splitter could be solved by setting the splitter aside and just going back to using the single port until I'm back from my trip.
Thanks much for any insights anyone can share!

2024.05.11 19:18 GGNando '03 996 Turbo

Being an older car, the stock head unit obviously doesn't have Bluetooth nor android auto and such. My Service Advisor said that there was a Bluetooth module that you put in the CD changer spot on the radio (as I do not have a CD changer) but that device doesn't seem to be sold anymore. Trying to see what solutions people have done prior to replacing the head unit. I have used the FM transmitter in the past and it's been timbit or miss and takes up the 12v cigarette lighter plug. TIA for any options/solutions.
