2024.05.28 20:27 Any-Hornet-8332 Am I the only one who feels that some areas in this city are exhausting to go?

Areas like Belapur sector 15, Parsik Hill, NRI area, Vashi Mini seashore, Hiranandani Kharghar, certain areas in Ulwe, Moraj Sanpada and NMMC HQ area have seen several new outlets/restaurants/cafes/walking tracks coming up through the years. The same has attracted crowds but most of it isn't a quality crowd. These places are usually congested more than ever. What's your take on this?

2024.05.28 20:25 Chemical_Count5054 I need someone to talk to

Hello, I really need to get this off my chest to people who don’t know me or my situation. I want to be totally honest here and I know it’s not a relationship sub and I know I’m going to look like a bad person but here we go.
Up until I met my boyfriend I rarely drank because I know I don’t have a good relationship with alcohol. Anyway at the beginning he told me he likes to have a few drinks after work and on our first date he wanted to go to a bar and I got black out drunk (common occurrence that lead me to drink rarely)and invited him to stay at mine and he looked after me the whole night and stayed all day the next day until 7pm to look after hungover me.
From then I should have known we maybe weren’t totally compatible in terms of our lifestyle. Anyway a few months in I found him liking another woman’s pics after we’d had a drink and I ended up slapping him round the face. I promised then to stop the drinking and he stopped the liking pics.
The relationship has been great, no issues and for the longest time I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been in my life with this man. Then he quit his job and got another. He works in a restaurant with bare minimum staff so he gets one day a week off work. He brings beer to my house after work and has a couple of beers every night, sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t have a few with him, I can say no.
But recently I’ve been feeling abit like the relationship isn’t moving forward. When he gets a day off work he splits the day half with me and half with his friend to get drunk. Either at his friends house or pubs or bars. I can only remember one day when we’ve spent the whole day together since he got this new job and that was only because I told him no, because he promised to spend the day with me.
We’ve gotten into heated arguments a lot while we’ve both had a drink because of this and I have banned him from coming to my house after he’s being at a bar or pub, we argue when drunk. He also drink drives which worries me so I end up drinking at home to deal with the stress.
I don’t want to drink anymore. He went out with his friend on Sunday so I went out with my friends (something I rarely do) I was drunk but we had a great night and I didn’t over do it at that point. Then he turned up at end of the night to give me a lift home (drunk) his attitude was awful he argued with me in town in front of taxi drivers and all sorts everyone was looking and I was trying t laugh it off then he had a go at my friends and I ended up punching his car. Me and my friend got the taxi back to mine then he turned up after he dropped his friend off and me and my friends were shouting at him, he apologised to my friend, she left and he stayed for abit. He had a bottle of whiskey in my kitchen so I started drinking that from the bottle. I threw a glass at him (missed) and it smashed all over the floor. I went upstairs took some tablets (I only remembered that today after finding tablet packet in the bin) we argued I got nasty and blacked out woke up in bed with a bleeding hand.
We’ve agreed to break up. I’m scared of myself when I get like this, I just keep thinking I could have killed him or myself or both when I was black out. The intrusive thoughts are telling me all sorts of horrible things. I don’t want my dog to witness these things, I had a good life before and I don’t know what’s happened. I just read a comment on another post which made me think I’m talking all my frustrations out on him from other things he is a good person never violent but he does also cause arguments when drunk as do I.
How do I move forward from this? I’m sorry I really had to get this off my chest.

2024.05.28 20:24 Yveskleinsky Interesting goings on with Teddy

I threw my back out gardening and haven't been able to do much of anything for the past two days as I've been in debilitating pain and, consequently, hopped up on muscle relaxers. (So keep that in mind while you read my tin foil lol.)
I decided to make the most of my time and (finally) got around to ordering RC's books.
First, I went to Amazon where I noticed that the paperback versions of his books were out of print. This is odd, since it's print on demand, and there's no cost to leave them up. I think this is a sign that Teddy is going into publishing. (Of course, it also helps that on the Teddy website it says "Teddy Publishing". Lol)
Then I went to the teddy website and noticed a few more things that struck me as odd:
  1. The page for books is titled "The Book Store." Now, I'm an author and I have an e-commerce website as well. I've never seen someone call this page "The Book Store." It's usually called "Books" or "Book by the Author." So, perhaps this is a nod to becoming/buying a book store chain.
  2. Some of the book covers have Legos on them, even if Legos aren't a part of the story.
  3. "Odd" names for the children. The kids are named Kingston and Princeton, both of which are Ivy League schools. Now the names themselves aren't bad, although having two kids with Ivy Schools for names seems pretentious, and out of character for RC. It seems more like this name choice is a pointer to the interest in developing quality schools or curriculum. (Side note: awhile back RC tweeted about challenging Warren Buffet to a thumb war. This is a fun game for kids. Outside of investing and stocks, Buffet has a series of children's books designed to teach them about money.)
  4. "Odd" design choices for the kids' clothing. In particular, there are several books where the kids are wearing shirts with aliens on them.
  5. "Odd" wording. Flip open to just about any page and you'll notice the flow of the writing is somewhat disjointed. It's as though he's trying to hide what he's saying by squeezing it into the narrative of a children's book.
  6. "Odd" place to visit. Teddy goes to China. I'm sure China is an interesting travel destination, but, again, it seems like there's more to it. ...You know what else is in China? Shaolin. And the name of the Wu Tang album is "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin." One of the most famous lines from Wu Tang is that "Wu Tang is for the children." (Side note: Wu Tang is from New York, and refer to their neighborhood as Shaolin. Wu Tang has a "school" called WuDang. (Which, when translated mean "rock or sway." Both of which were mentioned in RK's tweets. NY is also called "The big apple" which might tie into RC's tweet about "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." As well as the images of apples that are also on some of his books. Additionally, Teddy seems to always have an iPhone in his shirt pocket. So maybe there's something brewing with Apple too.
  7. "Odd" terms and conditions. The T&C are comprehensive and cover all kinds of things outside of what a "normal" publishing company would need. So they are gearing up for something big.
I took a series of screenshots, but I'm having difficulty adding them to this post. Arg.

2024.05.28 20:22 jitakyoeiJL Camping recommendations for beginner fly fishing near hwy 80 on cross country road trip

Hello, my family is doing a cross country drive and wanted to stop and do some camping along the way. Ideally, looking for a spot with beginner flyfishing for me and my son, and even better casting lessons. Will be driving hey from New York to the Bay Area. Would appreciate any recommendations that are not too difficult to book and family friendly. One spot I had been considering was yellow river Iowa. Thank you!

2024.05.28 20:22 GuyofMshire Were there any kind of accepted or enforced naming conventions in the British North American colonies?

If you look at a map of Ontario, Canada you'll notice that there are a lot of settlements named for places in what's now the UK. Other places are named for settlers and some are anglicisations of words from Iroquoian, Algonquin or other Indigenous languages. Still more are named after other places and some are unique. This is true elsewhere in Canada and presumably also the US. My question is, was there ever any effort by colonial authorities (say pre-Confederation and pre-American independence) to regulate what places were named or even any contemporary reflection on trends?
A good example of what inspired this question is that a part of what we now call Toronto used to be referred to as York (and still is to some extent, for instance of the neighbourhood of North York), meanwhile some 700 kilometres away is the city of New York. Did anyone ever remark this difference or call one or the other out for adding or not adding the "New?" Is there a reason we seem to have fewer "New X's" in Canada (exceptions include New Glasgow, NS and of course New Brunswick, just off the top of my head)?
The other important name source I haven't mentioned is of course French, but the fact that names of French communities and in the former French colonies are overwhelmingly named after Saints or are Gaulicized is that the right word?) indigenous words seems to point to either the French (and I would here suspect the French catholic church specifically) exerting more authority over place names than the British did or that the history of British naming conventions is more complicated.
Thank you in advance for any insight into this!

2024.05.28 20:20 Fit-Bar-2623 Advice on slow paced servers??

Need advice! How to help slow employees?
Hi all! Looking for advice as a server trainer in the fine-dining restaurant where I work . Management & other trainers and I have been trying to brainstorm how to help our slower employees pick up the pace.
We have a few good servers who are great at tables, and have great food and beverage knowledge but simply can't keep up. They move at one speed no matter how busy we get. The general consensus is that they're maybe too comfortable and don't see the need to do anything different from how they've always done their job but I really can't say for sure. But honestly it's becoming a problem, as they don't run as much food and take much longer to open and close. I've been there until 2am waiting to check out their sections (we close at 11). I want to give them tools to succeed but checklists, and tasks with timestamped timelines both have not worked. Neither have conversations directly between them and upper management. Seems to be a "you can't fit a round peg in a square hole" situation so I am looking for new ideas to push them in the right direction.
The other trainers and I have recently had some amazing new trainees who are experienced, efficient and keep up really well with the training module and pace of the restaurant and I don't want anyone losing their jobs, as they're all genuinely nice people trying their best, but truly these slower vets are at risk of getting fired. I'm at a loss of what I can do to help them but if anyone has feedback that would be great!

2024.05.28 20:19 kenshion072 Has anyone tried a Fibrin Glue treatment?

I currently have an Anal fistula and I am curious to hear if anyone else has had luck using an alternative solution as oppose to more invasive treatments. I read about a fibrin glue treatment, as I cannot afford to take significant time off work. A week would genuinely be too much time for me: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2784785/
And it seems to be something I would like to try. I live in New York and I'm having trouble finding anyone that does this treatment too. So any leads on that would be helpful.
