2024.05.18 18:15 Vigilante_Dinosaur Plug in fails to load because no valid authorization is found

Hello all, I know some variation of this post has been posted before, but anything I could find was a different error code. So, hopefully I’m ok posting this.
Trying to run the slate VSX system/plugin. Purchased and activated new and I cannot get it to run.
Picture linked is the error I get whenever I try to launch PT. All my other plugins load just fine.
I’m running a fairly old system that just squeaks by as being supported by VSX - PT 11 and Mac OS 10.12.
The software is downloaded, it’s authorized to my iLok, all the files are there (seemingly so) and it just won’t load.
I’ve tried re downloading the VSX software, uninstalling and redownloading the iLok manager as well as synchronizing license’s.
I’ve tried deleting the aax plugin cache as well.
I’ve contacted slate support and their first step was to uninstall and reinstall the iLok manager, which I’ve done 2 or 3 times now.
I’m waiting on a next step response but figured I’d see if anyone here has some ideas!
Thanks friends.

2024.05.16 07:05 bobawhale_official Unable to use Soothe2 on Logic 11 on an M3

I recently upgraded to an M3, but I've noticed that some plugins have been faulty. Soothe2, for instance, seems to be completely incompatible. In the plugin manager, it says "crashed validation" under soothe2, and rescanning the audio unit doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried disabling/reactivating my iLok license for soothe, deleting its component files and reinstalling them from the official oeksound website, restarting Logic and my Mac, etc. I have also tried to use the oeksound uninstaller from the official oeksound website, which made me install Rosetta, but that didn't seem to do anything as well.
Whenever I have the soothe2 component files installed, I am unable to open any projects that include instances of it; it just says that Logic has ran into an issue with a specific plugin, and that the program needs to quit.
I am using a 2023 MacBook Pro M3 running Sonoma 14.4.1 and Logic Pro 11.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.09 19:30 Trickay1stAve Been away a long time and have a couple questions regarding PT10

Hey guys,
Last time I used Pro tools was in 2012 with version 10 and I cannot find my ilok currently. Now on to the questions.
  1. Can I transfer my pt10 license to a new ilok easy?
  2. Can I still upgrade to 11 from 10 free? (If not, what are my options?)
  3. Does PT11 work with windows 10? (I know it’s not supported but I have seen a few working?)
  4. Is it more worth it to go with annual subscription? Tbh I’m not a huge fan of the idea.
I do not have the option of rolling back, but I do also have 2020 iMac if any of the compatibility works better that way. Really only as a last resort.
Thanks for the help!

2024.04.29 19:43 robbadobba Portable Hub advice for Pro Tools/MBP

I’ve got a 2019 i7 MacBook Pro running latest Ventura and PT 2023.12.1. It stays home, connected to my CalDigit TS3 Plus 99% of the time. But I want a portable hub for on-the-go.
I don’t want to spend more than $50, and I’d only need to connect:
So, at most, 3x USB-A (or combo of A and C), card reader, and (bonus) HDMI
Would any of the Anker’s do the trick? The 341, 553 or 555 look promising. (I don’t care about power pass through…I’ll connect my power supply directly to the MBP.) I like the idea of the 547, but don’t want to be stuck with an unusable hub if Apple changes the port layouts in future MBPs.
Anyone have experience with these or can recommend something similar?

2024.04.24 16:03 danj2k Cheapest classroom-friendly loops-based DAW for Windows PCs?

At my workplace, our Media Level 2 course will be changing over from Macs to PCs in the summer of this year. The Adobe Creative Cloud suite will still be the same, but we need some suitable loops-based DAW software to replace Garageband.
Can anyone recommend something that is inexpensive, classroom-friendly (can easily be mass installed on a classroom of 25 PCs without requiring named user logins) and runs on Windows?
I've had a brief look at the following software:
EDIT: I found loops for Audition on Adobe's FTP site, but it's not obvious how to set things up so they'll be available for all users automatically in Audition?

2024.04.19 15:47 Dramatic_Plum_9226 Not opening or even starting

I just bought pro tools today and began downloading avid link then proceeding to download pro tools ultimate. Whenever I attempt to open the downloaded pro tools in avid link the icon pops up for about a second and then disappears. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling both avid link, and pro tools outside of avid link and it still has not loaded. I have my ilok connected as well to my avid account but it is through the cloud. I’m attempting to download Pro Tools 2024.3.1 and I am on a Mac M2 running Sonoma 14.4.1.

2024.04.16 04:03 PaulBino ProTools Studio Renewal Assistance

Hey All!
I have my old Pro Tools 2020.5, and I needed to upgrade the Mac, and the old version doesn't run on Sanoma. I've heard a lot about renewals, and I'm having a hard time determining if I am even able to just simply "upgrade" my old perpetual license...
On my avid account there is an option to renew (even though it says it's expired on avid, my iLok account says it isn't... more bs I don't fully understand) and the options are listed as follows:
(Pro Tools Studio $199.00 License Upgrade)
(Pro Tools Studio $299.00 1-Year Subscription, Paid Upfront)
(Pro Tools Ultimate $599.00 1-Year Subscription, Paid Upfront)
I'm not sure which is an actual renewal that will alow me to run the newest version of protools on my new Mac (2022 MacBook Pro M2 referb... if this info helps at all😂), or which is just a support plan upgrade... There are no options anywhere I can see to review terms or details. VERY FRUSTRATING... Anyway, if anyone has had experience in this arena, some pointers would be tremendously helpful, as I don't want to drop a couple hundred and have ended up eith the wrong product.
Thank you all for reading and helping!

2024.04.15 15:10 bedtimeburrito Project consistently dies at exact point during export/playback

MacOS Monterey 12.3 Logic Pro Version 10.7.5
Attempting to recover an album project by exporting multitracks, around 119 tracks of audio using File > Export > All tracks as Audio Files.
There is over 300GB free on my SSD, so I know that drive space is not an issue.
I've attempted just one audio file instead of all 119, and it still stops at exactly 50 minutes, 9 seconds in to the project. There are no markers or automation at this point, no specific plugins causing issues, iLok verification is running, prior to leaving the studio yesterday night there were no errors nor warnings about plugin incompatibility, and no updates have been made to my system.
How do I possibly retrieve the audio files from the project that currently exist as comps that have not been flattened? i.e., GTR001 has 10 takes, which we have comped but the folder has not been flatted. In the Logic Package folder Audio Files, i see all 10 takes but arranging them again will take an eternity (some takes are upwards of 100, etc).
I have attempted to import the project in to a new Logic project but this has taken over 4 hours with no progress and eventually leads to force quitting.

2024.04.09 08:32 xaviervently MacOS Background apps for plugins?

I have noticed that plugin or vst softwares ive downloaded eventually pill up in the "allow in background" section of my MacBook.
Are there any necessary plugins or vsts that needs to be allowed to be running in the background? Or can I turn all of them off?
One such as the "PACE Anti-Piracy, Inc." that I see a lot of my plugins or softwares like ilok and Soundtoys use, should I keep it on or off?

2024.04.08 18:42 Adwod Volt 1 pre purchase questions

I’m thinking of maybe getting the Volt 1 because of its size and aesthetic. I’m coming from an M-Audio 192 8 - which is a bit overkill for me. I use Mac and only ever record electric guitar.
Can I use the Volt 1 without having to install whatever software they provide (bundled or not)? Since UA have partnered up with iLok I’m very much on the fence here… I don’t go near iLok using companies.
I know the Volt 1 is class compliant so it should be plug and play but: do UA require the use of any additional software, a permanent internet connection or the use of a UA account in order to use the hardware?
I’ve tried to contact UA directly but to no avail.

2024.04.07 05:52 ThaRealBWeezy Anyone have a fix for this?

I just upgraded to an M3 MacBook from a 2017 pro. Also had to upgrade all my plugins and my perpetual license for protools. Downloaded auto tune 8 and have my ilok with the license plugged in and I’m still getting this message. Anyone know how to fix this?

2024.04.03 06:53 LeeBerk I can't open protools after I transferred it to my new computer

Hello fellow protools users.
I asked this to the avid support they never respond lol. so I need to pick your brain. Here's the issue:
I can't launch protools and it won't even show the splash screen.
Lately I got a "new" laptop (2018 macbook pro OS12) and installed all my stuff from the old computer(2015 mac book pro os 10.14). While most of my softwares work no problem after the transferring and authentication process, I can't open protools. More specifically, when I try to open( click the icon in the dock, from the application or from Avid Link), the icon jumps up and down like every other apps does in Mac system, but it just stays like that forever and it says "the application is not responding" .
My protools version was 2018.4 when I transferred from the old computer, and I updated it from Avid Link. I have the same issue in both version.
Honestly, I have no idea why this happens but I suspect this has got to do with license issue??
Because I had similar issue in my old laptop. and I found out that was because my iLok app wasn't working properly. But it was easy fix and I just restart the computer whenever happens.
If you guys know how to fix/ what to do or possible solutions, let me know here!!!
Thank you so much 🙏

2024.03.21 16:10 push_22 Can't get my newly bought UAD Plugins work in the Latest Logic Pro

Hi All, I just taken advantage of a sale at Universal Audio and bought myself six plugins for $49.
Problem is, I can't get any of them to load in Logic Pro.
I've got an M3 Max MacBook Pro, running Sonoma 14.4 and I'm using Logic Pro 10.8.1
I've downloaded/installed each one via UA Connect and I can see them in the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder, using otool I can see that their architecture is arm64.
Running ILok I can run see them all activated on my cloud.
But when I start Logic I get the error:

Bad Plugins
If I start the Plug-in Manager, I then see this:

fail
Also: I can use them ok in Luna on the same machine.
Anyone any ideas?
Many Thanks

2024.03.18 01:03 1234ahayeah iLok issue, 2020 Mac Mini M1

Having an issue with plug-in activations on my mac mini I just picked up (2020, M1), any plugins that required iLok are all currently listed as Active in the license manager but won’t show in Logic. I do not have the smart key and have never used one. The rest of my third party plugins are showing without issue.
This is brand new copy of Logic too if that means anything, was previously running on a 2015-or-so copy from a friend. Thanks!

2024.03.15 22:52 thoowz Switching to a new Mac. What is your best practice?

Today I received a M3 MacBook Pro and I need to move my stuff over from an older M1 (yes, I read about some issues with performance regarding Ableton, still need to switch).
I do not want a fully migration of the old system, a fresh start always feels better. Especially regarding Ableton, I would like to be very selective of what plugins I move - and which I don´t. I also have to deal with Nativ Access, Arturia, PA and iLok stuff. But how do you move all your plugins from one machine to the next? And what do we really need on an M Mac in terms of formats? Thank you!!

2024.03.15 19:08 stschoen Issues with macOS Sonoma 14.4 and AU plug-ins

Just received the following from Izotope:

Issues with macOS 14.4 Sonoma

Apple has recently released the macOS 14.4 Sonoma update, which has resulted in compatibility issues for plug-ins protected by PACE / iLok with Audio Units host DAWs, such as Logic Pro, on Apple silicon Macs. Users have reported encountering problems with these plug-ins following the installation of the update, including DAW crashes.
If you are using Audio Units on an Apple silicon computer, it is advisable to postpone the macOS update until further information becomes available. We will keep you informed as soon as a resolution is found.

2024.03.15 06:29 capp0205 Important information about macOS 14.4 Sonoma & UADx plug-ins

Got this email from UA. Has anyone run into issues after updating to Sonoma? Can anyone explain to this noob what Audio Units are? I use a few of the free plug-ins from The Volt 476 but mainly stick to native Logic plugins. I’m holding off on the update for now. Cheers!
As you may know, Apple recently released the macOS 14.4 Sonoma update. There have been reports of compatibility issues impacting plug‑ins from various manufacturers that are safeguarded by PACE / iLok with Audio Units host DAWs such as Logic Pro on Apple silicon Macs.
Consequently, if you utilize Audio Units on an Apple silicon computer, it is recommended to defer your update until more is known. We are contacting PACE and will update you after we find a resolution.
The following Support Announcement will be updated as more details become available: macOS 14.4 Sonoma Compatibility Info
Sincerely, The UA Customer Care Team
UPDATE 4/4/24:
PACE / iLok Issue with macOS Sonoma 14.4 Update
Issue & Status
A bug was introduced with macOS Sonoma 14.4 causing some PACE-protected Audio Units plugins crash on startup, when running on M2 or M3 hardware under the ARM architecture.
Apple fixed this bug in the Sonoma 14.4.1 update. Please upgrade your macOS to resolve the problem.
If for some other reason you must use macOS 14.4, running your DAW under Rosetta might help if the plugin is a Universal binary.
For more information about macOS Sonoma 14 compatibility with Universal Audio products, read this article.
Solution
The recently released macOS 14.4.1 Sonoma update from Apple restores compatibility with iLok-protected Audio Units plug-ins on all Apple silicon M2 or M3 computers.
The update to Sonoma 14.4.1 is now available in macOS System Settings.
