So, with the start of season 21, I've played quite a lot, and I am personally a bloodhound enthusiast. But I've noticed when popping my ultimate this season, it seems to go above the fps cap? (Xbox Series X player) with the new introduction to 120 fps I personally can't use it because I don't have a monitor to support such but when I pop my ultimate it seems to exceed 70 fps even though my cap is 60 just wanted to share and see if any other people had this problem or have any solutions.

i wanna say this if you like the game like it but for me this game will never be close to ever touching (cod) or (tf2/ow2) this game has just as bad of maps if not worse than mw2022 the weapons feel awful in every way and everyone is just B-hopping every where the hit reg is just as bad as mw2022 the fact i have to see "creating match" is so annoying. like i know you are making my match stop canceling me from making my loadout another is day 1 they had some over priced items in the store. the xp you earn is bad like really bad like you win and place in the middle of your teams leaderboard and you will get barley a inch in xp
now ability's are just not fun in my opinion most of the ability's that need to be alt's are not and its annoying like the spider is just a better flash and stun stopping you from doing anything another youre player lvl means nothing there is no grind other than 3 skins and thats it i dont earn weapons or characters by leveling up i earn nothing making playing the game useless
now i know you are about to say omg you just cry and cry can you not have fun and play the game no i cant when the hole player base in this game is the players who made cod what it is now just a bunch of meta weapon users who cant play for fun and just like the finals this game is not meant for casual players
let me say this yes did i have fun a little when it came out yes but as more people from cod and overwatch come flocking in the worse the game has been getting and has been getting more and more toxic every passing day this game is out

jydnlol a well known streamer with over 100k followers and a lot of viewers both on twitch and tiktok is currently on live abusing men that voice their opinion about her playing, positioning, build etc.
Her mods are mostly female and everytime they see a male username or male pfp talking anything ever remotly negative about her gameplay (not her in any way as a person) she starts talking about how she is always getting flame by male players, how men should not be able to voice their opinion on her stream and other sexist comments going at her male viewers. Her mods chime in with comments like "nobody needs a men's opinion" , "men should be capped at gold", "only men backseat game" and much more. Her support braum was playing bad and she was saying with her mods about how he is probably a guy that needs to be carried by a "female carry" like herself.
This is the thing that is dividing the male and female playerbase. Because of streamers like her who can't take any criticsm and auto start flaming men and muting and banning them, allowing only simp comments, women are having a hard time in gaming. Just shameful behaviour.

In militaries, ideas come from the bottom, the experienced people jerry rig something, and command sees it, and takes credit. That is the way the military works. Our most experienced helldivers should get to add an idea for a primary, secondary, grenade, support weapon, backpack, mine/turret, mech configuration, vehicle, eagle, orbital, armor, ship upgrade, hexagon thingy, or any other thing that helps us win.
Now, to be fair, there may be hundreds of level 150 players. I don't know. If there are too many, they should get to participate in in-game polls to add stuff.
I'm level 27. I'm not that guy/gal/pal, but you know who is? The level 150 that has completed more missions than 10 of the average soldier and knows what we really need. They should be the ones making those decisions and recommendations. I put my trust in them to not give us a mech with tesla towers for arms or a laser turret or a flamethrower guard dog or any other team killing nightmare. I trust they know what's best.
I also believe that their additions should be added as intended and if OP, locked behind a level wall of like 100 or SC. Sometimes high level broken stuff is okay, and I'm okay not having it, but if someone joins my game with it, it'd be a blessing.

Westbridge the same day Redlina arrived.
The Kestral brigades had returned and began settling in again after the seemingly failed expedition to Ork Mountain. The Praetorians had begun preparations to move much of their logistics to waycross. The Boat force licked their wounds and prepared to move out once more, but Westbridge itself was restless, the civilian population was hungry, only being kept in check by the overly oppressive number of guardsmen and Batherstons actions during the last riot but how long would that last? There had been the raid on the food warehouses the other night that had only just been foiled but adding fuel to the unrest was the fact the Valyrrans had intensified their 'questioning' after each incident and with Commissar Gardners death it appeared the abhumans wanted blood...
Valyrran Intelligence officers Valtin Redlina and Vilkes had been given the green light so to speak, they had been restrained for far too long in their opinion but Commissar Lion had finally approved for more drastic action even though Elzy, Oats and Fizzy's investigation continued into the 1066th's commissars death, the issue of the rest of the T'au operatives was unresolved and while brutal, the Valyrran officers had come to an agreement. Of the few hundred that had been dragged for questioning twenty-three had been unable to provide adequate alibis or cast enough doubt as to their loyalties to the xenos and as such twenty unlucky "rebels" today would find themselves being a bloody reminder to the others about what happens when individuals try to oppose Imperial rule and the remaining three whom Fizzy had been able to get more information out of would get another round of questioning.
People had noticed the abhumans acting strange at first, squads marching towards the main square outside city hall, the other Imperial officers had all been notified that there was going to be something happening at the town hall that might cause a reaction from the T'au operatives if they still had not been caught and to remain on high alert for any opportunistic sabotage attempts.
Redlina had marched out after her meeting with the other officers and had passed the prisoners being marched the other direction, she caught her son's eyes as she passed. He looked worried seeing her condition but to his credit quickly hid his emotions and continued on with his grim duty. Today the Valyrrans would execute the 20 collaborators in line with Imperial law as approved by a member of the commissariat. it was not pretty and it would not be popular but the abhumans demanded blood. To them a commissar represented the Emperor's will, to kill one of them was a shock to the system that could break the Valyrrans fighting spirit if not addressed.
The Valyrrans had been allowed to perform the execution but the deaths had to be quick. Something that anyone who had witnessed the executions at Deltapoint would understand was a mercy. The sentence was announced via loudspeaker and the execution would happen at 1900 hours sharp, the main square was lined with Valyrrans watching the crowd that would surely form to witness it, keeping anyone away from the prisoners at bayonet point.
Dex's squad had been called up from barracks and the motley group of Valyrran specialists and tag-along Minthelian now sat inside a crassus armoured transport with the ramp down, they were in reserve but in doing so had been placed rather close to the about to be executed prisoners. Darwin was sitting beside Hazel and blocked her view of the outside and sat with one large hand on her leg with the other holding the giant autocannon they both were responsible for. Sitting opposite Hazel was a Valyrran intelligence officer who was fiddling with his ornate powerclaw and humming a tune to himself, evidently looking forward to using said claw on someone shortly. Dex and the others sat looking uninterested, having any excuse to be out of the barracks was great but the Intelligence officer sitting opposite was not what anyone wanted to have to share a cramped space with ever.

15 minutes later Inside the hospital in relative privacy, Redlina sat stripped to the waist to allow Doctor Kellan to check her rather serious stab wound, the very literal Valyrran had scowled at her and advised the general that she should have had this injury treated a day ago and that if she had been a normal human she most likely would be dead. Redlina had ignored him and instead stared at Lion who was still at eye height even with Redlina sitting. it was just the three of them inside Kellan's cramped office away from prying eyes and ears.
"You wanted to discuss Major Zero commissar." Redlina stated after wincing as the doctor unwrapped her blood stained bandages.
"Yes, the... other regiments are pushing for a formal inquiry or court martial." he said with his hands clasped behind his back trying not to show his discomfort at seeing the general in this state of undress.
She raised an eyebrow. "I was under the impression you had already made your decision Commissar?"
Lion tried his best to not show any annoyance. "Yes... but Colonels Arvin and Braithwaite have formally requested this go outside of the regiments internal disciplinary procedure, as you can surely understand, a guardsman is dead and its a Taronian one at that. Zero may have defended herself but she hardly does herself any favours with her conduct. That and the fact she is more than capable of overpowering two Taronians in the dark without killing one. If she hadnt killed anyone then this would not have developed into this at all... general we cannot ignore it or brush it aside without causing damage to relations, unnecessary damage at that. Both colonels are sensible people, we should find a way that eases both of their concerns and satisfies their request for action."
Redlina took a deep breath and in doing so got a grunt of disapproval from Kellan who was trying to clean her wound while this conversation was going on. "She is not being demoted, you and I were firmly in agreement with that before and my opinion has not changed, I wont pull my best armour officer off the line over one dead guardsman and grumbling from the other regiments."
Lion nodded. "True but even still, is this worth fighting both the Taronians and Praetorians over? if it comes to it I wont allow them to conduct a public inquiry involving officers as that will devolve into backing their side. A commissariat run inquiry perhaps will be better, its the most likely outcome that will not cause more issues and would be seen as neutral."
Redlina did not blink, her red eyes burning into Lions soul or so it felt like to him.
"You are the commissar for the 1st Valyrran, these matters fall to you. If you support an inquiry then I will not object. I will punish her as per our internal regimental policies for bringing the regiment into disrepute"
"You're not going to kill her are you?"
"No, nor will I demote her regardless of the outcome or recommendation of this commissariat hearing. Now unless there is anything else you are dismissed."
Lion saluted and left the room, he would notify the involved parties and begin preparations for the inquiry that would happen once fort Ko'Var was taken.
Kellan did not comment, he simply continued prodding around the wound completely distracted by his task.

General Redlina to Colonels Arvin and Braithwaite.
In regards to your calls for an inquiry into Major Elaen's (Zero) conduct that resulted in the death of a Taronian guardsman. I believe myself & Commissar Lion have already made it clear. She will not be demoted nor removed from her position over this. In his eyes and therefore my own, the Major defended herself from an attack from two Taronian guardsmen that did not stand down nor identify themselves and the resulting death was purely an accident as affirmed in the majors report of the incident.
Regardless after consulting with Commissar Lion, he believes a commissariat led inquiry into the event should take place to show all parties that this incident is being taken seriously the inquiry can come to a decision as to whom is at fault and that will settle the matter.
Additionally unrelated to the inquiry or its findings Major Elaen will be subjected to public flogging after the fortress is taken. 500 Lashes. For failing in her duty as a senior officer of the 1st Valyrran and resulting in the requirement for this inquiry to even take place.
Zero will be informed of this decision at the commencment of the inquiry once the fortress is taken. I take the discipline of my Valyrrans very seriously but I also do not appreciate this public push for an inquiry by two of my commanders.

Taskforce Liberation forward command post. North of Fort Ko'Var
Colonel Lilzton stood atop his command Salamander scout vehicle nestled into a well concealed observers position on a mountainside overlooking the fortress, around him troops moved anti thermal tarps and random pieces of foilage to further conceal their command post. he looked down to the near treeline and saw his Liberation troops running back and forth, they had been digging trenches and foxholes closer towards the clearing and the frankly suicidal stretch of open ground leading up to the northern road into the fortress itself. He was not going to order an infantry or armour charge until he was sure they had suppressed the T'au defenders, just as they had always planned.
His vox crackled to life suddenly making him snap out of his thoughts, his vox operator turned to him and held up a headset. "All batteries in position colonel, dug in and ready to begin on your order."
He was frankly astounded the 5 artillery Captains had somehow managed to get all 500 heavy guns into position, the amount of cannons Liberation had brought to bare was monumental, it had taken 30 years to gather them all and now all that hard work was paying off, some would say this many guns pointed at a single target was overkill but Liberation had to take this fort as the first of many strongpoints if it wanted to take back Gryllus so better to go overkill than play it safe. Especially with the large Imperial forces approaching the fort from the south too.
"Juno, Falcon, Thunder, Proton, Sword. Commence bombardment on your presighted marks. Observers will report effectiveness, dont let our rounds stray too far we must avoid hitting the far side once the southern forces get into position."
There was silence followed by five confirmations and then the mountains themselves shook. Liberation launched the first salvo of many and a deafening roar of hundreds of guns caused the forests themselves to shake. Darrah panned his magnoculars over to the fort and after a few moments of anticipation, great plumes of dirt and snow erupted all over the fortress outer wall, sending chunks of rock and permacrete flying. It was only the beginning, a wall of noise began to echo back across the open ground towards Liberations lines. He barked into the vox for spotters to remain on alert and anti air teams to watch for any drones that slipped through the outer lines.
"Hunter, Flash, prepare your units for the next phase, we wait for the signal from southern command." Just behind the infantry two hundred leman russ tanks sat in defilade, all of them pointed south towards the fort. When the signal was given they would begin an armoured charge in an effort to break through the outer wall and pave the way for the infantry riding in salamanders to flood in behind in what was hoped would be a shock assault that would crush through the defenders positions and break the siege quickly rather than force a prolonged and tedius war of attrition with the dug in defenders.
Now was the worst part... waiting. He wondered what Kaia was doing right now.

Major Toina 1st Valyrran, 12th Assault Company. On route to Fort Ko'Var from the south.
Another ambush up ahead had caused the slowly trundling convoy to screech to a halt, tailbacks the entire way through the forest all the way back to Waycross. Major Toina knew it was another ambush when she heard the explosions up ahead and the crackle of lasguns firing through the morning fog. After Major Baxton had been killed during the first ambush the convoy had continued and now Toina was again awoken from her restless sleep by explosions and reports of ambush up by the Taronian vanguard.
"More drones, only light resistance, one Trojan is immobilized, moving it off the road over." A Taronian reported from the front. It seemed that even now the T'au commander was using their drones to try and slow the advance but they must know by now it was hopeless.
An hour later and Toina's Crassus arrived at what had been selected as the mustering point just south of the fortress. She opened the hatch of her crassus and her augmented abhuman hearing meant she could hear the thundering artillery duel occuring to the north very clearly. A sign that Liberation had lived up to its end of the bargain and begun to shell the entire northern side of the fortress, the noise was relentless and she noticed that many Valyrrans had put on their helmets with the inbuilt mufflers to try and alleviate the noise.

At Waycross, Major Zero was about to join the column of vehicles heading north, her 9 Macharius would be needed for the first attack supposedly and Major Minton had a plan for her. She saw a crassus from the 14th assault company just ahead of her towing a trailer filled with melta charges and another was being fitted with the specialised melta ram that Valyrran troops had developed to breach Ork fortifications back home, the fact they were bringing out such heavy equipment was a sign that this fort was not expected to fall easily. Minton should be joining Toina at the mustering point soon and more than likely a joint officers briefing would be called to finalise the plans for the first assault within the next day or so as the army got settled.
Zero sat exposed from the top of her macharius vanquisher and was glad that the snowstorm had blown over. Donly was staring at her from the back of his hydra. The large Valyrran was still angry from before apparently and had not been ordered to move until she was. She shook her head and ducked into the turret just so she could ignore him, closing the hatch behind her and ordering her driver to get moving.

In the snow south east of Westbridge far behind Imperial lines, a small group of Valyrrans wearing lighter gear and camouflaged cloaks had finished sweeping this latest gridsquare for potential sightings of that mystery T'au force. The storm had saved them from discovery thus far, grounding the Valyrran air cover and erasing the tracks of the fleeing T'au troops. But the Valyrrans were expert trackers and despite all the setbacks, had a rough idea of where the enemy might be hiding, especially as they had recieved some help from some nearby Rathian's that knew the area and had volunteered to assist. Vultures patrolled the snowy wastes flying high and relying on thermals. Once located the team would attempt an infiltration if they deemed the enemy position weak enough and if not they would resort to calling airstrikes and then move in to mop up.

It's been a few days since the first event and two weeks or so since release, so I think it's a fair time to post a quick review for Gakuen Idolm@ster (will be called Gakumas for the rest of the review). Gakumas is part of the Idolm@ster franchise, which has other games such as Starlight Stage (Deresute), but it's an entirely new branch which makes it very easy to get into. It's developed by QualiArts of Idoly Pride fame.
Gameplay
For context, I've played a lot of 'idol games' (all the Love Live ones, Bang Dream, D4DJ, Proseka, Deresute etc), but don't go into Gakumas looking for the rhythm game experience. The closest comparison by far is Uma Musume in terms of gameplay, making it a training roguelike. Unfortunately, like UmaMusu, it's entirely in Japanese, though it's gameplay is easier to understand if you don't speak Japanese vs UmaMusu. In fact, a lot of aspects from UmaMusu are borrowed to great effect here. You have five support cards and borrow one from a friend, and at the end of each run, you obtain a "memory" which is used as inheritance to boost later runs in terms of skill cards and stats. You can borrow a memory from a friend, though it's capped at thrice a day.
It differs from UmaMusu in several aspects though. As someone who played UmaMusu for about two years, the speed of each run is very much appreciated. Once you've gotten the hang of things, each run is about 15 minutes, and only has two "final stages". The final stages involve you trying to beat 5 other NPCs's scores to achieve first place. Another aspect is the skill card system: you get 3 cards each turn to choose from that'll grant you a myriad of effects, and these rotate out each turn from a set pool that you can expand on during the run. One skill card is tied to a support, and one to the girl you're producing. You access more skill cards and bonus items as you level up your player rank, and gain more skill cards during the run through various means.
Girls are separated into "sense" and "logic" types. Base gameplay is the same but there are notable differences when it comes to how score is gained, e.g. "sense" idols tend to have consistent damage across turns, whereas "logic" is further split into two categories: DoT or powering up across turns to hit very high numbers on the last few turns. Support cards can mostly be used for each type; SSR supports can be used for every type. There are three attributes: Vocal, Dance, and Visual; typical Idolm@ster stuff.
Gacha
Base rate of 5%, which is quite generous in comparison to other idol games. Rateup...not so much, as Produce SSR and Support SSR share a pool, unlike UmaMusu. Each pull is 2,500 jewels. For example, the Produce SSR rate is at 2%, and we have a 0.75% for Ivy Temari, the current rateup. It's a Japanese gacha, so no pity, though the spark is at 200. At the moment there are 2 gachas running: the permanent banner, and the rate up banner. Permament banner has no time limit and has spark as well...unfortunately, the "free tickets" are limited to only said permanent banner and cannot be used on the rateup banner. SSRs are all good to an extent, and the SRs are very much viable. Uncaps/dupes matter to an extent for Support SSRs but are not as crucial as UmaMusu's dupes. Dupes don't matter as much for Produce SSRs.
Sidenote: there's also a coin gacha which gives some good stuff, including a Sense welfare SSR and a Logic welfare SSR. You get these coins through runs and the event shop.
Reroll
Despite the myriad of fast reroll methods we've gotten as of late (World Flipper and Uma Musume come to mind), this one is the fastest I've ever done. One minute per reroll after the tutorial. I'd advise you to spend your 2,500 red jewels on the rate up banner, as the character and support card are very strong, and then try your luck with the tickets on the permanent banner. Support SSRs should be prioritised, and you can pick an SSR girl of your choice. Given how fast the reroll is, I'd advise on at least 2 Support SSRs; the rate up Produce SSR is very strong and is easy to do runs with. Later on, you can receive 2 SSR tickets through missions and such. Game8 has a tier list, and there's one in the fan discord for reference.
Events and Rewards
Events are the backbone of most idol/idol adjacent games, and Gakumas is no exception. It should be noted that the current event was extended when it was released as the devs noted that the original length (1 week) would be too short, and this was the correct decision. Currently, we are given a welfare SSR which can be fully uncapped. Still, it's rather grindy, especially given that Gakumas is fully manual. The event shop is good and provides decent materials for you to grab, but the jewel rewards, while not terrible, leave something to be desired. Of course, it can be argued that we're still in the very early days of service, so hopefully we're given more ways to gain currency. 50 for daily, 200 for weekly. You get a sizeable amount of jewels in the beginner missions/early achievement unlocks.
PVP
Thankfully, negligible. You get a small amount of rewards but if you're like me and detest it, it's easily ignored. Kind of ironic given that the original Idolm@ster (I mean the old 2005 arcade game) had PVP as a prominent aspect but I'm more glad than anything I can ignore it lol
Graphics
Honestly, QualiArts's strength is in the character models and they don't pull any punches here. Idoly Pride, their previous game, has very good looking models that photograph and move well in their 3DMV mode, and their track record continues here. There's been a lot of buzz on JPTwitter about how Gakumas's models can stand up to extreme zoom, and it's not unwarranted. I'm running the game on my 2020 iPhone SE and other than overheating after an hour of play or so, it runs well on high graphics. Has an 60fps option as well.
Music, voice acting
No big name seiyuus here, but the girls are all voiced very well. Each girl has a signature song, with one (Temari) receiving another in lieu of her rate up banner, so we're assuming that with each rate up, each girl gets a new song. For their music, Gakumas brings in a wide variety of people, from the popular Vocaloid producer Giga, to Arthur Verocai, a famous Brazilian arranger, which reflects in the quality and range of their songs. They're all on their official YouTube channel here. My personal favourites are Sumika's 'Tame-Lie-One-Step' and Rinami's 'clumsy trick' to name a few.
Charmingly, the girls's final performances alter on how successful your run was. If your run was not so great, they will dance poorly, sing poorly (afaik seiyuus recorded separate "bad singing" tracks) and their facial animations will look stiff.
TL:DR Like UmaMusu in many ways, but isn't a shameless copycat; it understands how the formula works and why, and builds on it to create a solid foundation. The game is generating a lot of positive attention in JP, and while Idolm@ster is notoriously unported to the Western speaking world, Gakumas is by far the most accessible entry yet.

Last Saturday, I graduated from my college. It's been difficult for me to move past that as I really enjoyed having the opportunity to work with one of our sports teams this year. I had the opportunity to travel, attend every practice, and cut up film for them. In addition to that, I'm still figuring out what's next. I didn't have a job lined up - market's tough, especially without a car or money to move out - but I was hoping to attend grad school to put myself in a really good spot two years from now. Unfortunately, that might not happen this year, though I'm waiting to hear back on any GA positions available from our college. On the bright side, I will be working as a PT cashier - my first real job as employers were reluctant to work with my availability while in school - so I can finally save up for a car, possibly grad school (more on that shortly), and additional money. It'll allow me to expand any opportunities for jobs in my preferred field, so it's a long-term decision with short-term sacrifice.
If it isn't clear by now, I have mixed feelings about where I'm at. I would love to go to grad school this year, but can't afford it - that hurts. On the other hand, it's not the end of the world because at worst, I take a "gap year" which involves me saving money for grad school. During this "gap year", I'd also have the opportunity to continue working a remote internship to keep my resume padded and potentially come back to assist our university's sports team with practices + film (coach's decision, but I think they'd welcome me back) and potentially return with them full-time in '26 and '27. My only concern is if I come back with the team, will the players have an issue with this? I wasn't close with them by any means, but some really enjoyed the film I did (no one did it previously). It probably isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
To sum it up, I have mixed emotions. Right now, I feel behind my peers (though I'm not the only one in a similar situation), yet I'm somewhat content with where I'm at because I have a plan if attending grad school doesn't happen this year: save money, workout, have a shift in my philosophy, get a car, go to grad school from 2025-27, and (hopefully) graduate with more job opportunities. I think I'm on the right track (my parents do as well, so their support means a lot), but I'm feeling impatient.
I'd love for some advice, feedback, or additional comments. What do we think?

However, for some time now, we have been confronted with a troubling situation: unjustified account bans triggered by an alleged error in the anti-cheat system.
It is no secret that many of us who use legitimate game controllers, especially those from Microsoft Xbox, have been suddenly and inexplicably banned. This has led to a wave of frustration and despair within our community, reflected in forums, on Reddit, and in Discord channels. We discuss, we share our experiences, and we seek answers—yet so far, without a satisfactory response from Blizzard.
We understand that the integrity of the game must be protected and that measures against cheaters are essential. But it is equally important that innocent players do not suffer under false accusations. We ask Blizzard to address this matter, to engage in dialogue with us, and to find a solution that allows us to do what we love again: play Diablo.
This is not an isolated case, and it is not a solitary problem. It is a call to action, an appeal for fairness, and a request for transparency. We do not want to give up; we want to fight for our right to be treated fairly and for the joy of the game that means so much to all of us.

2024.05.28 02:52 Huitzil37 Hades 2's plot really needs fixing.

Hades 1 had a simple story, but it was a good one, and it was told excellently. A lot of factors came together to make it work, and in Hades 2, those factors are nowhere to be seen, they haven't been iterated on, they haven't been replaced with anything else, they haven't even been repeated, there's just holes in the emotional structure where they should be.
Zagreus was a huge factor in what made the game so great. He's wry, he's clever, he's playful, and he's determined. He has something he wants and he's not going to stop until he gets it. He is surrounded by characters telling him to give up and abandon his quest and he says "no, you're not gonna stop me." He mocks or pokes fun at things to deflate the threat they pose to him. In this he is like us: a game keeps killing us and we say "no, you won't stop me, I'll go again." We see what's there and we start thinking of how to take it out, how it's weak, how it's nor really all that. And when we talk to characters, Zagreus needles them and teases them to get reactions out of them. He's sticking up for himself and by proxy us.
The first victory over Hades is one of the best moments in gaming. Zagreus can finally get what he longed for, the chance to meet his mother. And in appropriately Greek irony, he discovers the reason everyone was trying to stop him was that he will just die after five minutes on the surface. And Zag sees this, and he says "All right. I guess I'm going to reunite with my mother five minutes at a time." What a god damn character moment! The absolute perfect expression of a character who is determined and irreverent and is always looking for an angle.
What does Melinoe have by comparison Everywhere online I see people praising Melinoe up and down, and I feel like I'm going insane, but everyone I've personally shown H2 to has said she's really bland. She is. Melinoe is bland as a saltine cracker until we're much further in, and she's in an environment and with characters that just strip out any impact she could have. What is Melinoe? Well, she's nice, and she believes in the mission, and she doubts herself and needs to learn to believe in herself. And this just doesn't work!
Zagreus was surrounded by people dissuading him and he pushed back to make them have interesting interactions, they said he couldn't do it and he was gonna prove them wrong. Melinoe is surrounded by people telling her she can do this and is doing a great job, and the only energy she brings to any response is "idk if I can do it : -(". The only character who clashes with her in any way is Nemesis, and Mel doesn't push back against her until WAY later, she just has the attitude of a miserable wet cat.
Any time someone wants to talk about anything else, half the time she says "well I only want to think about the mission so let's not really have an interesting conversation." We don't need this! We, the players, are focused on the mission because it's the gameplay loop. We don't need a character to bring that. We need a character to bring some other way of looking at the game world. We can't have Mel be the one who doubts herself most of all, because it doesn't match how we're playing her, we're champing at the bit to get back in there and do another run. If Mel didn't think she could do it she wouldn't be sprinting to the entrance every time!
Mel's motivated more by beating the last boss than anything behind him; one of the few things she will mention about her motivations is not really knowing her family. This is hard to get emotionally invested in! When you first beat Hades it's an absolute gamechanger. You get this huge emotional up, this devastating down, and then you see the track going uphill to your goal.It recontextualizes everything and then reinforces what it's really about. What happens when you beat Chronos? Nothing. You don't learn anything, you don't re-evaluate anything, you don't have an emotional high or low, you just check him off a box. Dealing with Hades had impact because of the personal relationship and history he had with Zagreus, which we saw built up by talking to him in between every run. Chronos has no complex relationship with Melinoe and nothing approaching catharsis.
Hades 2 doesn't need to be a copy of Hades 1 and Mel doesn't have to be a copy of Zag, but for fuck's sake, they need SOMETHING going on that's their own. Make Mel weird and sheltered and naive and overly earnest and cringe because she's barely met any people. Or make her obsessive to the point of derangement. Or something. Give Chronos a constant oppressive presence instead of sometimes one safe room and one very rare room hijack per turn. We have 4 different characters who can swoop in and help us for free, why isn't Chronos just fucking with us? He does less to turn Tartarus hostile than Hades did, and Chronos is supposed to be openly malicious!
I wasn't there for the early access for Hades 1. Did SGG do anything to rework or refocus the story during its development? Because right now this story is way worse.

Game has been out for months now and I still see level 50+ players not understanding how to itemise loadout as a team.
Don't all bring backpacks, don't all bring secondary. Treat it as if you have 16 stratagem slots and trust in your teammates.
Also DO drop extra equipment to people who don't have them when the cool down comes up.
Similarly with the suits. You're meant to support the guy in the suit to clear stuff they can't clear so they can use the suit to the best efficiency.

So I’ve done some studying of this team, been hearing a lot of so called fans trashing the cowboys (that makes them haters by definition) so I’m gona bring some positivity about why I really like our chances this next year, and then follow that up with a 53 man depth chart (way too early. A. I love a player on the final year of their contract (Dak), along with a coach on the final year. I know Daknjas had to prove things in the past, however nothing compares to this year, and you know he wants nothing more than to prove the haters wrong. Add that along with a SB winning head coach on their final years, and that’s a recipe for Success. 2. The fact we still haven’t made any of the jones famous “1 year veteran deals” like we did last year with Gilmore and the trade for Cooks, so I think we still have 1 or 2 moves up our sleeve that will round out this team. Particularly l, I have guys like Donovan Smith, Michael Thomas, Calais Campell, Stefon Gilmore, a run stopping DT, etc… 3. So much young talent with all the potential that have yet to break out yet. Including Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Mazi Smith, Overshown, Damone Clark, Eric Scott, Sam Williams, Marques Bell (he kinda broke out in 23, but curious to where we are gona play him), Chauncey Goldsten, Veheko, Donovan Wilson (not as young, but showed flashes of greatness a few years ago), Hunter Lupke, and last but not least in not gona even mention names because there are so many, but all the young guys we have used draft capital on over the last 3 years on the O line. So now I present my way to early look at the 2023 Dallas Cowboys. Offense

I went to the footy last week and there was a guy screaming the entire game about how awful we are how it wasn’t like this 10 years ago (wtf) Adjust expectations and find something to enjoy. We’ve played so many debutants, got lots of good players coming through and what is the point of this if it’s causing agony every week ?
We’re st kilda supporters — I’m a 20 year member (I am 30), yes I worry I will die before we win a premiership but isn’t there something about being the underdog with the best colours ? I’ve always loved that our motto is fortius quo fidelius —- it is just so fitting.
Let’s not be like Carlton who were spitting on the coach early last year, I’d rather die before even entertaining the thought of Collingwood. Enjoy the ride people.

So, there is a, what I would say light rumour about Halo: CE to Halo 3 being remastered and released within one package, using Unreal Engine. And with the more robust speculation of the next Halo game leaving the Slipsace engine behind and being made using Unreal Engine, its not so hard to believe that this may be something in the works. There was a post on X about it and understandably a lot of people thought that it was a bit pointless and would rather MCC get continued development, adding mod support for console and all that. But there were also some who liked the idea, Halo: CE through to Halo 3 remastered and looking graphically amazing is a very alluring thought. I agree with both perspectives.
I 100% think that MCC should get continued development, adding mod support for console, bug fixes and server renting options being the big-ticket items. But for this to be possible, the game needs to make money, and I think a PlayStation release along with purchasable Spartan Points would be the way forward.
So if MCC gets continued development, it definitely opens the gate for this Unreal Engine remake of the Halo Trilogy. If MCC were not to get any substantial development, with the various ideas, wants and beliefs of the Halo community there would be many upset fans. Either way, I have thought about it, and there is a path that would make this potentially a very good, rewarding, and beneficial game for 343. With its contents and sandbox not being isolated to one single-player package.
When you first read it, Halo Trilogy remade in Unreal Engine, the first thing you think of, at least for me, is just the graphical upgrade that you would get from it. And that’s exciting. But then you think about the enemies and the sandbox for each game, would they be bespoke for each title? Or would they use the same enemy models and behaviour, the same functioning weapons and models across all of the games? The later would not do the games justice. But the bespoke rout would require a lot of extra work and development. Costing money, and all this for a single player game? Doesn’t seem like something that would get the green light. So how would 343 solve this conundrum? To incorporate all of this content into the next main Halo instalment, that’s also built on Unreal Engine, in a very significant and impactful way. Making the development of this breadth of content far more cost effecting and valuable to 343 on multiple levels.
Okay, back to the Halo Trilogy remake and what I personally think would be a good execution for it, before we move onto the next Halo instalment and how the Trilogy content would be incorporated into it.
So lets talk first about the menus of the game briefly. Simply put I think there should be a game selection menu when you first boot it up, letting you choose which game you want to launch into. And yes, this means we get the classic menus for each of the games back, updated to support new features and looking amazing. And now onto what I was talking about earlier, the sandbox for each title.
So to clear something up, this Halo Trilogy I would imagine it to be a remake, and not a remaster. So things throughout each of the games would not be completely accurate to their original counterpart. But not deviate so much like the Halo: Combat Evolved remaster in terms of atmosphere. As stated, each game in the Trilogy will have their own unique sandbox, meaning that across the board, enemies, weapons, vehicles, and allies will, look, sound, behave, and feel similar or identical to that of their original counterparts. And the same treatment for the environment, bespoke textures for unique structures and all that. But what about you, the player? I think that the movement for each game should be consistent and stay the same. Also the same physics for each. So all the games run on the same engine but the sandbox elements are what’s different and provide a unique experience.
A little visualisation for a moment. If your having trouble picturing what unique enemy and weapon models with really high graphical quality would look like in a Halo: CE remake, just think of the Halo Infinite Mark V armour.
Now onto a more exciting aspect of a Halo Trilogy remake in Unreal Engine, and that for me is the prospect of being able to play “remixed” campaigns. Once you have played through the standard campaign, you can now play a version that has extra or entirely new enemy encounters, new areas to explore, new weapons or even entirely new missions on the more extreme side. A good example would be Ruby’s rebalanced Halo: CE, or for the more extreme, Halo SPV3, for those people who are aware. I think this would be absolutely awesome. And a quick note, built using Unreal Engine so say goodbye to the annoying lag that plagues MCC co-op campaign (something that I would really like to see fixed) because it uses peer-to-peer networking. I am getting incredibly excited just thinking about having a new experience playing through a remixed campaign with my best friends and no lag! And also 4-player co-op for Halo: CE and Halo 2, yes please!
But now onto how this substantial breadth of content can be effectively utilised in the next main Halo game. Giving effective justification to its creation in the first place. So what I mean by the next main Halo game is one that has the next campaign that continues on from Infinite, and has the extensive multiplayer offerings, that would be in the form of a free-to-play live service. Now I know there will be a lot of people who groan at the thought but if done right, again, if executed correctly and released when ready would be good for Halo and the best way to get the highest amount of players. Being on Unreal Engine and on every available platform.
Now back on point, some people may have guessed this but the engine used for the Halo Trilogy remake and the engine for the main Halo game, let’s call it Halo 7, are the same. So the obvious way that 343 can utilise the content can be through providing the numerous weapons and vehicles as variants for players to use in game, like Halo 5: Guardians Warzone mode. Or for modes that don’t incorporate all these variations, players could unlock the models to use on the standard weapons and vehicles, just changing the aesthetics. You could rock the classic Halo: CE Warthog look! And these models can be obtained through various ways. Through ranking up the progression system, buying from the store, or completing commendations. Now it could be confusing for players to determine if they have the actual real variant or just the model, but the real thing would have unique sound, feel, damage, and all that. Also the modes in matchmaking that use the variants should be segmented and obvious.
Forge would also greatly benefit from having all this content available. With the different enemies and vehicles, players could creat very genuine throwback campaign missions. There is just so much potential. Now this leads nicely into what I think is the big justification for this content, and that is to do with the campaign for Halo 7. Halo Infinite introduced a new species called the Xalanyn, or “The Endless”. And it is believed/hypothesised that they have the ability to manipulate time.
Now, I’m not the most imaginative person so I would not be able to explain why, but as you play through the Halo 7 campaign, you travel back to different time periods. And this is where the usefulness of the different enemies, vehicles, weapons, and allies come into play. And I think this would be a great way to visit significant locations and time periods from the books, and experience different perspectives from familiar battles and locations. There’s just so much that could be done! I’m sure there are lore fans that would just have their minds explode with possibilities.
But, the question is, how far back may we go? Players have been accustomed to and expect there to be a slate of Forerunner weapons to use, and in Halo 4 the Prometheans were introduced. May we side with the Xalanyn and undo the grand sin of the Forerunners? Travelling back 100,000 years to the time of the Forerunner-Flood war, and even earlier…
A story that encompasses the entire Halo timeline and executes it well would be magnificent. And at a time when Halo is possibly moving away from its classic Blam engine and into new territory that is Unreal Engine, while also being available to the most amount of players than ever before by releasing on PlayStation. This could potentially be the turnaround for the franchise that all Halo fans dream of.

Hi! First time posting here, followed format best I could. Have revised my resume for a few weeks now but still cant get past the automated rejection emails, so I figured there might be something this sub could help me with. I have two 6 month co-ops under my belt through my university in relevant fields, and have been applying across the SE/CS range of jobs, for Junior and normal positions, frontend, backend, and full stack, and also some IT/Desktop and Data jobs.
I have no real preferences/qualms about working in any particular subfield/type of company, but have applied to around 10 jobs a day, custom cover letters every time, for a few months now, and although I haven't yet graduated, I will be in a month and really need to secure a job soon so I can help support my big family. I'm applying across the northeast, mainly New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, etc, since I plan to move in with my folks upon graduating and cannot drive. My finances are catastrophic right now so I am not picky and, not to undervalue my worth, but I do not mind taking a lower salary so that hasn't restricted my application process either.

Hello I have tried many variations of v4l2ctl: parameters and values and I cannot get it to work. Camera is on but blurry. I spent the whole day trying and troubleshooting shooting. Here is one conf and log.

They were like elves or something and everything was 2d, you could walk around the map and I remember there was even a cafe or something like that. The characters were small in 2d pixel art, the map was dark and raining, in a strange atmosphere. And the view was just from the superior, like in Stardew Valley or Undertale, and there were some plantations too. I played this game between 2015-2017
I'm already having doubts about this part and I can't say that this is really it.
You had a little house where you could go to sleep and you had to help the other residents of that small village, I remember that I could barely get coffee from the cafeteria and I think there was a pink character waiting for the player.

2024.05.28 02:37 Imnotahipsterdammit My partner 27F and I 28M are in a rough patch in our relationship, it's my fault, and I'm trying to make up for it. Is there anything I can do to save my relationship?

I never though I would be writing a post on here but here I am, asking for advice.
I guess I should start off with how the relationship started and how it's been for first 7-8 months.
We started seeing each other last Summer after her graduation. We had originally met in grad school, we had a Zoom class together and we met in person for the first time during our internships. I immediately got a crush on her, and tried to just say Hi to her whenever I got the chance. I saw her as someone way out of my league, and was nervous to talk to her.
Flash forward to last April, we match on Tinder and we really hit it off quite fast. I was still nervous about the whole thing, thinking she wouldn't be into me. I eventually got the guts to ask her out, and we finally went out almost exactly a year ago. I was worried the date would be awkward and she wouldn't like me, at this time I also hadn't been out with anyone else in years, I had gotten out of a very long term relationship previously and hadn't met anyone new yet.
It was honestly the best first date I could have hoped for, better than I could have hoped for. Since the moment of picking her up to dropping her back off, we were talking non stop. We got to know so much about each other that night and I fell for her almost immediately. We almost kept the workers at the restaurant late, we didn't realize an hour had gone by after we finished eating. We just sat there talking. Then we went to karaoke night at a bar, we didn't do karaoke as we're both very shy in front of crowds. Overall it was literally the best night I had in a very long time.
After our 3rd time going out, I thought I would ask her out properly, and see if she would like to be a couple. I did, but she said it was too early for her to start a relationship as she had gotten out of one 2 months prior. But that she enjoys our time together and just needed some time before going into a new relationship. Which was fine, I wanted to respect her space and gave her the time she needed. We still saw each other multiple times throughout the Summer. I went over to her place late at night quite often to watch movies until 3 or 4am.
During this time, I of course still had huge crush on her. I also drove by her work when I got the chance to drop off coffee. If she texted to ask if I wanted to watch a movie, I would drop everything I was doing. I just wanted to spend as much time as I could with her. Because I also knew that she was moving away, just two hours away from where we both were, but that was still pretty far and I thought the distance would ruin any chance. It also didn't help that I was also moving out of state, 10 hours away from her. I was willing to do anything to make long distance work. I just needed to ask her again.
Before I actually asked her if she wanted to be in a relationship together, we finally had our first kiss while watching a movie, and that whole week we basically acted like a couple, but hadn't made it official yet. I told her my feelings, and she told me hers. Turns out she was very into me as well. I asked her if she was sure, since we were both moving far apart. We agreed that we could make it work. We had gotten along so well over the last 2 months. We like all the same stuff, music, tv, movies, games, etc. It felt like she was the person I was missing in my life for so long. Literally my second half.
She moved before I did, but I drove to her every weekend before I moved. And I always stayed from Friday to Monday. I helped her explore her new city, and move all of her stuff over. I fell for her more and more every day. After I made my move, we agreed to call each other every other night, to play games together or to watch a show or movie. It was hard, but we managed to do it. The roughest parts were having to deal with no phone service up there, or very little access to internet. But we made it, and she even drove all the way up to see me for one weekend. Which meant so much to me.
Over the next few months, I had started to struggle at my new place and in the position I was in in my career. I also managed to make time to see her once, sometimes twice a month. My drives would last 10-12 hours depending on traffic, but it was always worth it just to be able to see her.
I eventually left my position, due to very poor management, and for it being a nearly abusive situation. So in December I packed everything up and moved back home. Here's another important detail. My position was to be just for a year, which is one of the reasons we worked so hard to make long distance work. As we knew eventually we'd be close again. Our original plan was this. I'd move and work for a year, and when I come back we would look for a place together and hopefully move in. A this point, marriage had been brought up. We both knew we love each other so much, and that marriage was in our future.
I guess I should clear up what I do. I'm an artist, and the last few years have been spent with me participating in artist residencies. These vary in length, but the one I moved for was a year. I had hoped that I could gain experience in my field, in a proper studio setting, and develop my work further with the studio access I would have. It's specifically in ceramics. This was my first residency that was long term. In the past the max was 2 weeks. As a ceramic artist, woodfired ceramics is my thing.
Anyways, I moved back. Everything went back to the way it was before I moved. We alternated who drives to who on the weekends. We spent the entire week of Christmas/new years together. Before that on my visits, she was able to meet my family and friends. Everyone points out how well she and I get along, and that we're such a great match.
Starting in January, I was back in the mood to work on ceramics related projects. I had managed to get into some woodfirings, which for those unfamiliar, they're not very common. It's also a very demanding type of firing as we're stoking the kiln with wood constantly. These can be anywhere from 12 hours, to 100 hours straight. during this time I had also started working for my family's business again.
During January and February I was in my home studio constantly making work, often well into the night. Some deadlines started coming up, and as they got closer I was rushing as much as I could, and making as much work as I could. But it hadn't affected my life much, yet. Everything had still went well, and we were still calling each other at least twice a week, and seeing each other every weekend. Every other Sunday was D&D night with my friends, which she joined into as well. Everything was still going great.
March is when I think everything started going downhill. Besides the fact that I had a ceramics conference coming up, and that was a ton of pressure. I also had the biggest firing of the year happening 2 weeks after the conference, and I was one of the key leaders necessary to make the firing happen. There was tons and tons of pressure on me in March/April. I had to rush work for the conference AND the firings. And the previous firings I had earlier in the year turned out to not be very great, and left me very disappointed. But the biggest firing of the year was happening, and I need work. Because I had also been considering applying to another residency, I was so screwed over by the last place, that I wanted one more shot. It also didn't help that I also started up a Minecraft community my friends and I ran, but one that I mostly ran. I didn't realize how much time that took up either.
The conference went well, she went with me and she got to meet all of my ceramic friends, and we had our first road trip. the conference was a 12 hour drive for us. As soon as I got back from the conference, I knew I had to rush a lot of work and start prepping out at the kiln. I still set aside the weekends to see her, but I was just so busy during the week not just with the kiln, but also working for my family. I shifted my free time to playing Minecraft, as it's always been a comfort game for me since I was in high school. Some days I'd be so exhausted I didn't want to do anything else but just place blocks mindlessly for a few hours. At the conference, I met lots of people, and the hype from it all made me want to reapply to a residency. I had brought up that I was thinking about reapplying, and it felt like she was supportive of that decision. She was very aware of everything that happened at the last place.
the week of the firing I needed to be there as much as I could, I did 12 - 16 hour shifts on the kiln at a time, and I did overnight shifts. This meant for the whole week, she would work all day while I slept, and then I went and worked all night while she slept. I didn't realize how much this would affect her. I don't even think we saw each other that weekend, we waited until the next so she could come unload the kiln. That was the first time we spend more than a week without each other since I moved back.
I wanted to try another residency, and the deadline for the only place I was interested in was a few days after we finished firing. So I took that weekend to write out my application and send it in.
When we finally unloaded the kiln, it really really, really, disappointed me. So much time in the studio, so much time making work and starting over, so much time spent working on firing the kiln. Everything went wrong, and 90% of work I made was ruined. It really hit me hard, but I didn't want to show it. It affected me mentally and emotionally more than I thought it could. I kind of shut down for a bit. I went back to work, and when I came home in the afternoons I didn't do much, I just stayed in bed. On my off days during the week, I'd spent most of the day in bed. Barely talking to anyone. It just really sucked. So much. It sucked because I had hyped this up to everyone. I hyped myself up. I posted about it every day promising to update my followers on social media. I put in SO MANY hours into this. Just for almost all of my hard work to be ruined.
I didn't talk about how I felt. I didn't talk much.
I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to make excuses. I just shut down for a bit, and I didn't realize how much that would affect her. I had noticed since march, and especially in April we hadn't talked much during the week anymore. Maybe once a week we called to play something, or watch something. I was busy, and she was busy and going through her own struggles. She's a middle school teacher, and she's really been struggling the whole year in her position. I was always there to comfort her, and to be someone to listen to her about everything that's been going on. But all of that time just focusing on my work put a lot of strain on our relationship. You'd think that after the firing was over, I'd be free again and have time. But I was so disappointed I spent the whole week after making work again and rushing again, since I had a market to do, and I needed work to sell. the sale also wasn't great, and all of that just really hurt me. I didn't want her to worry about me. So I kept a lot of my thoughts to myself, of how I was feeling about the firing, and in general the career I've been trying to build in ceramics.
Me focusing on my work, and only my work, really really affected our relationship more than I ever though it would. And it was never intentional. And the rest of April/beginning of May was just rough. We saw each other maybe one day a week, or not at all, one day it was just for a few hours, since we had other things to do on the weekends. The market was out of state, and she wasn't able to go with me due to her work. I also realized I wouldn't get the residency, which was honestly kind of a relief.
Two weeks ago, I felt as everything finally cleared and I was starting to feel better. I went to see her on a Sunday, and I had taken a few days off so I could stay at her place until Wednesday. We hadn't had time together for more than a day in a really long time. So this was time to make up for some of it. Something had felt off that day though. I wasn't sure what it was, but I started to get worried. We would often tell each other "I love you" followed by "you promise, you swear?" It was always playful, while also being a little bit of a reassurance. I asked her that day, and it felt mostly normal. Later that nigh while getting ready for bed, she was just looking at me, and I asked "What's wrong"
This is when everything came out. She said she was afraid that we wouldn't make it. And then said that over the last 2 months, she felt pushed away and like she wasn't a priority to me. That it hurt that I applied to a residency without talking to her about it first, especially since our original plan was to move in together. I thought, we were on the same page on that. She seemed supportive, but we never had a real conversation about it. It was, "hey I applied for this thing" and "I hope you get it, you really deserve another chance!" She even looked for teaching jobs in the area I would move to, if I did get the residency.
Since that firing I wasn't there for her. I didn't tell her about my days where I just wanted to rot in bed. Some days I didn't now what to talk about. I felt borderline depressed. And I didn't talk, or talk about it, or talk to her much. I kept looking forward to the days when we would see each other on the weekends, but other things got in the way most times, and we didn't have the regular amount of time we had gotten used to. In person when we did see each other, things felt normal. I guess the weekdays after work are when she needed me the most, while I either stayed in bed all day, or got on Minecraft to mindlessly place blocks. Sometimes I didn't even do anything productive in game, I just ran around. I was sad. I just didn't want her to see me like that.
It sucks that I noticed too late. I knew we hadn't been able to have a lot of time together. I had planned to finally dedicate a few days together like before, and I brought over some board games so we could have stuff to do together. I knew that we would have to talk about moving in and planning out the rest of the summer.
The time apart, and the time of me not talking much really hurt her so much. I feel so terrible about it. Like I said it was never intentional. She said that her days for the last month were just going to work and coming home, hoping she would get a chance to talk to me. She said that night, that she doesn't know if she feels the same way about me anymore. She felt pushed away so much, and felt like she's already mourned the relationship. And she said it wasn't just that, that's made her afraid about our relationship. She's having trouble finding a new job, and her lease is up at the end of June, and she can't look for a new place, until she gets a new job. She's been applying for a lot of jobs closer to my area. But she also doesn't know if she needs to move back to her parents to take care of them, as they're not doing well either. And they live on the opposite side of the state. She has a lot of pressure on her right now and is very overwhelmed by everything going on, and all the decisions she's having to make in such short notice.
That night I, possibly stupidly, asked her if she wanted me to leave, after she said maybe she just needs some time and space. I say stupidly, because after I got home I felt like leaving wasn't the right decision. Before I left though, I told her everything. About how I had been feeling, and how I don't even know if I want to do a residency anymore. But she told me not to say that because of her. Of course not doing it would mean I get to stay with her, but I assured her this is something that's been on my mind. I told her that maybe we're just having a rough patch in the relationship and we should work together on it, and apologized for not being there for her. She said that with everything else going on with her, her parents, her work, her lease, everything, she needs some time to think about our relationship.
Since that night, I've been doing everything to assure her that she IS my priority and trying to prove to her that I do care and love her very much. I've been trying so hard to put myself back together, and just been reflecting on everything that's happened since we met. And thinking about the future, and trying to plan things out.
I wrote her a 6 page letter explaining all my feelings and how I felt about her, and reminding her of all the absolutely great times we had together. As well as highlighting my mistakes, and promising to never make her feel pushed away again.
She came over last weekend, I assume originally to return my stuff and call it off. It was different, there was a big elephant in the room, and I finally asked her how she's felt. And she says she still doesn't know. She had some time to think about everything, but doesn't know what she wants to do. We agreed that she would need some more time. We ended up going out for food and a movie, and she stayed the night. Though, opposite sides of the bed, and no kind of intimacy. Which is fine, she needs the space. She read the letter, and said it was very sweet and wished I put that much effort over the last two months. and I just said "I do too"
She came back this weekend, and stayed again. It almost felt back to normal. We spent Saturday and Sunday together, we went out, went shopping, went to one of our favorite restaurants, and another movie. I didn't bring anything up because I didn't want to ruin what felt like a regular weekend with her again. But before she left I just felt like I need to ask how she had been feeling. She said that she came over because she was wanting to feel it out, see how we would do together. And that she had fun with me.
She just still doesn't know if she feels the same way anymore. But that there's something keeping her from saying she wants to break up. She said that she still likes me a lot, and doesn't want to lose contact with me, and that she doesn't want to never see me again. That maybe, she just needs to settle down with her job, parents, and moving. I asked a question, I said "This might be a dumb question, but did we break up?" She said she doesn't know. We kept talking about stuff, and we came down to we didn't break up, but she still needs some time to get everything sorted out. Because, like I said, she's very overwhelmed with a ton of stuff. She still doesn't know where she's gonna move to, if she's gonna be able to move. But she said that she and I make a really good match, that we're best friends.
She's coming back over on Friday, and Saturday we're gonna spend the day looking at some apartments, in the general area where she's looking for a job.
I just don't know what else I can do. And I'm desperate for any advice anyone has to offer.
Here are my thoughts on from my side.
I know I can say she's my priority all I want, but I really need to show it. I've been more active in showing her that. Everything else aside, the last two weeks we've been talking more than we have been in a while. We still call to watch shows. We've been on Survivor, 90 Day Fiance, and Sopranos. I haven't suggested 90 Day lately though given the situation. She's gonna get Stardew soon, and we'll start playing together hopefully this week. Yesterday we started Shogun. I know that the last two weeks isn't going to magically fix all of our problems. I'm very aware of that. But I'm trying to show her she IS my priority.
Career wise, I've reflected a lot on this. I need to use my teaching degree, and get a job as a teacher. It's still my plan to be an artist/teacher. Part of the reason I wanted so badly to do a residency, besides having a studio, I thought it would help a lot on a resume. Plus more actual studio experience, felt like it would be great for my future students. It's always been my plan to teach. If I don't use my teaching certification for 3 years, I have to renew, which I've heard is a pain and expensive. this was my last year before I have to renew, so I felt I could get a residency out of the way before going into teaching full time.
But I'm 100% okay with not getting to do that. Like I said previously, I was honestly a little relieved when I realized it wasn't happening. I'm starting to look for job openings in the area, and I have an interview to be an instructor at a local studio tomorrow. Besides that I have no set in stone plans for a job and where I'm living. Since leaving the residency in December, I've had to move into my parents for the time being. I think no matter what I need to start looking for a new place soon. I hadn't looked before, because I was thinking I'd either move out of state again or move in with her.
If she were up for it after all of this, assuming it goes well, I'd move in with her anywhere she ends up moving to. I half jokingly said that if she has to stay in her current job, and city, that I looked into it and there's a place there I could potentially teach at as well. But she said she doesn't want to feel like she's making me uproot my life for her. But I would have anyways if things went well this whole time. And that if she moves back in with her parents, there's another place up there I could work out of.
Again, I know stuff like that isn't going to magically fix everything. If I said hey let's move in, I know that's not the solution. But I'm not saying let's move in, in hopes that it fixes everything.
She feels like I would be giving things up to be with her. I just don't know how to assure her that it's not me "giving things up" If we were to be together for sure, I would be more than happy to do what it takes to be with her. How to I assure her that "giving things up" isn't a bad thing. I feel like she feels that me staying with her, is the bad option. I also feel like she's afraid that I'd make her feel pushed away again. She asked what happens during the firing next year, and I gonna ignore her again? I assured her I wouldn't, and that I'm over woodfiring a bit. This year was just really rough in terms of my work being woodfired. Just disappointment after disappointment. I've also learned that my professor, who runs the firing, has been cutting off a lot of our regular shift leaders lately. He kept saying that they really needed me this year. I felt bad about our key people missing out, and felt pressure to work as much as I can do make it happen. Which is why I did up to 16 hours a night on the kiln, and spent so much time prepping it the week before, as well as all the pressure of having to rush work. After hearing everything that's going on, I feel almost taken advantage on with this whole situation. Since the firing I've learned about all the people he cut off, and accusations he's made about people.
Also, sorry about such a long post. I wanted to be as detailed as I can, so people don't get the wrong idea about things. I've tried to keep everything clear, while still leaving very personal details to a minimum.
I really thought she was the one, since day one we've gotten along so well. We quickly became each other's best friends. She's my best friend and my favorite person. It's really scary, the thought of losing her. But I hurt her so much, and I didn't even realize it until it was too late, and I feel so terrible about it. There's a part of me that's cautiously optimistic. If we break up what if we never talk again? She's become so ingrained into my life, it's scary to think one day I'll go a whole day without talking to her. I know she's really thinking about it, and taking her time. Instead of jut saying that. I'm very aware of my mistakes, and that I should have done things differently. I'm trying my hardest to make up for it. I know that it'll take some time, it's not something that'll be instantly fixed.
I just don't know what else to do, if I should just keep going the way things are right now, who to talk to about all of this. I just need any kind of advice and/or reassurance. She said that in the worst case scenario, we're just best friends, and she doesn't want us to stop hanging out at all or lose contact. Because we make such a good match.
