2024.05.19 12:44 Extension_Row170 Interesting Travel Insurance Query!

Hi there! Any help on this topic would be hugely appreciated :)
Context: I am currently living in Spain, as a U.K. citizen/passport holder, and currently have residency through a student visa. My family, living in the U.K., are coming to visit me soon, where afterwards we will go to Portugal.
Query: They are going to buy travel insurance for themselves for this period, but how do I go about it? My point of origin is not the U.K., which is what most insurance policies state is necessary, however I have a U.K. passport/am a U.K. citizen. Anybody know how I can find a travel insurance company that covers this combination?
Thanks so much in advance!

2024.05.19 12:17 SpecialInevitable727 Seeking Forex Card Options for OCI Card Holder Traveling to the US

Hello everyone,
I'm an OCI card holder with a US passport. I am planning a trip the to the US and am considering getting a forex card for the same. Since I am not an Indian citizen, banks such as ICICI, HDFC and Axis have declined my application for the forex card. I’ve also explored options like Thomas Cook and Niyo Global, but they don’t cater to foreign nationals either.
Could anyone suggest alternative solutions? I prefer not to carry a large amount of cash. While I could use credit and debit cards, the transaction fees are a deterrent. I’m open to any advice on other methods of carrying foreign currency that offer good exchange rates and minimal transaction fees.

Hi all,
I'm a Canadian with Irish citizenship. As I carry both passports, I'd love to have a matching passport holder to go with my Canadian one. Does anyone know where I could possibly get something similar over here? Is this maybe something that someone could emboss for me? Any help would be appreciated!

2024.05.19 09:29 hahaha-hahaha- Keep getting rejected for jobs

Hello Everyone,
I hold an MSc Aero from a top ten world ranked university, I am a western passport holder and I have more than two and a half years of experience working in aviation/aerospace. I am currently in the Aerospace field in the UAE and I applied for dozens of various jobs, mostly entry-mid level but I keep getting rejected or get no replies. I’ve only ever been interviewed like three-four times for any position since I started applying back in 2018, one of them being my current role (I am working as an Aircraft Mechanic). I am trying to change my role as it is unsuitable given my skills and I am looking for something more technical and Engineering oriented in Aero, any advice?

India Passport holder. I am on a L1A visa.
Company lawyers are applying for I-140 under EB1c in second week of June. What is the realistic timeline I should expect for my priority date to become current and ability to file for I-485?
Further, once I apply for I-485, is there delay in getting green card because my case is from India?
I’m new to this and all the form names and timelines and priority date vs final action date etc is new to me and a bit confusing. Please help with the above question if you could.

2024.05.18 21:38 minairee_uwu Half 🇯🇵 peeps, need your inputs

I was just recently recognized as a Fil citizen by BoI after staying here in the Philippines for a long time. I was born in JP and moved here in 2005 and never returned since. Now that I already have my IC, I plan to go back to JP real soon and live with my mom who is Japanese, and also a recognized filipino. Upon looking through old posts here, most fil-japs stated they had to choose a nationality, but my mom never went through that process. JP passport holder lang siya and just shows her IC when she comes here, if entering japan naman yung JP passport lang. Also, when I got a copy of my Koseki Tohon from the Japanese embassy in mnl when I was applying for recognition, I briefly mentioned to what I was applying for and wala naman snabi. Wanna hear from fellow half jap sana if ano naging case sainyo, just worried I might encounter problems exiting PH/entering JP.

2024.05.18 20:03 Minimum_Jicama_7413 How to find work in Berlin with no visa

I will be living in Berlin starting the end of June 2024. As a US passport holder I believe we are allowed up to a three month stay in Germany. I don’t yet have a job offer from a German company but I do have living accommodations as I am subletting an apartment for the three months I will be staying there. What do I need to do make sure once I get there I can start applying to jobs as soon as possible? From information I’ve read, you aren’t allowed to apply for jobs until you have a residence permit but in order to have a residence permit you need a signed job offer letter so I’m a bit confused as to how this process works if I’m moving there with no job offer yet. I have a Bachelors degree in biology from an American university and thought about applying for the job searching visa. Does anyone have any information regarding this? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. I don’t have much time before my move.

2024.05.18 20:00 BarneyPickleCabbage UK - Italy Dual Taxation Relief Advice

Hi all,
My girlfriend (Italian/British) and I (Lithuanian) are planning to move to Italy at the end of this (2024) year. She has an Italian passport and will be working in Italy as a teacher, whereas I (EU pasport holder) will be working from home for a company based in UK and will get paid and taxed according to UK laws. I have read online about Dual Taxation relief between the two countries, from which I understood that the tax I pay in the UK, gets "converted" into credit for the Italian tax and therefore reduces the amount of tax paid in Italy, is my understanding correct here?
Additionally, do I need to declare my income and place of work when entering Italy? I would be staying in Italy for at least a year.
Any information would be highly appreciated!
Thank you.

2024.05.18 19:32 bloo-karoof Airport Security stopped entry to gate. Losing $1200 on roundtrip. How do I recover this loss?

Hi all. Let me provide some context.
My wife and I planned a trip to Brazil. I'm a US passport holder flying out from the US and she's a Moroccan passport holder flying out from Morocco. Her flight was departing 6 hours before mine. She had 1 layover in Madrid, Spain and a 2nd in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
When we initially planned for this trip, we checked to make sure my wife wouldn't need a transit visa to get thru Spain. We came across this Spanish govt website regarding airport transit visas and Moroccan passport holders are not one of the nationals listed.
https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/malabo/en/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/ConsulaVisado-de-transito-aeroportuario.aspx
So we thought we were in the okay to continue our booking. The day of her flight, my wife went to the airport and was able to successfully check in and get her luggage checked in as well. One her way to the gate, she was stopped by Moroccan airport security and they said she was not allowed to board her flight without a transit visa for Spain. She tried to protest it and went thru many other airport security officers and none of them budged. Apparently her needing a transit visa as a Moroccan is common knowledge-- that was the general vibe received from all of the airport staff. But we couldn't find anywhere where her needing a visa is explicitly mentioned. We tried to consider other options (layover in France or Turkey) and exhausted all of our options. Nothing was going to work. She tried to cite the policy/exclusion we saw on the Spanish govt website, and finally one officer responded and said she was right-- that she wouldn't need a transit visa for Spain and not even France, but that Moroccan airport security required her to have it anyways.
So now we are at a loss. I booked her flight through Capital One Travel using my Cap One Venture points. There was several airlines involved in her itinerary. Royal Air Maroc, LATAM, and Iberia Airlines. According to Cap One, the tickets were provided by LATAM. I called Capital One and both LATAM to try to get refunds. They bounced me back and forth like a tennis ball, neither parties wanting to get involved and refund me. LATAM accusing of a no-show. Cap One saying we checked in and therefore its in the hands of the airlines. I get it. Neither parties did anything wrong here. My wife couldn't board the flight because of airport security. We thought we did our due diligence.
After that whole debacle, my wife called up the Spanish embassy in Morocco to inquire about the transit visa situation. The embassy rep there told her that if she booked thru Iberia (all the way thru and back) she would have been in the clear. The issue here was that it was booked thru multiple airlines and she would have needed to recheck her bags in Spain. They also mentioned that even if she applied for a transit visa, she would not be issued one as the embassy stopped issuing transit visas due to rampant illegal immigration.
It seems we were set for failure from the moment we booked this trip. There's a very slim chance we would have known that niche bit of info about booking thru Iberia up front.
I somehow was able to get a full refund for my roundtrip back to my card. We ended up canceling my trip before it was time for me to go to the airport. Is there any way I can recover the $1200 I paid for my wife's roundtrip?

2024.05.18 16:05 Expensive_Space_7055 jb exit stamp not chopped???

hi guys i’m abit scared rn cause of all the horror stories i heard from not getting ur passport stamped at the msia checkpoint (high fines & detentions???)
for context, i’m holding a singaporean passport and i didn’t register for egate. i was doing fine during entry, went through normal checkpoint and got my passport stamped.
during exit, i also queued for the same usual checkpoint for all passports and just before my turn, the officer asked me and a few other singaporean passport holders behind me to go for the egate. we insisted we chopped in and if it’s okay to not have the exit chop. he sounded pretty stern and repeatedly said its ok and just proceed.
is that ok?? will i be affected when i come to jb next time? thanks guys, appreciate all insightful replies 😭😭😭😭

2024.05.18 14:02 shalvi2503 Czech Schengen Visa Rejected

Hi, I applied for Czech tourist visa and it was rejected due to some intent of stay bs. We had all the documents properly submitted and nothing was missing.
I already had 2 schengen visa in past two years (both were from Switzerland). I am Indian Passport holder and UAE resident.
There is no appointment till august for any Schengen country and we were travelling in July end :(
Is there any benefit in appealing the decision or its waste of time and money?

2024.05.18 11:28 Any-Nectarine-6270 Denied Boarding by LOT staff

I'm a holder of a valid Dutch resident permit and a Russian passport. Recently I flew with my family from vacation in South Korea to the Netherlands with LOT airlines (Seoul > Warsaw > Brussel). In BRU airport I have my car parked to go back home to the Netherlands (it’s about 150 km).
In Seoul airport LOT staff refused to check-in us with a motivation that Russian passport holders must fly directly to the country issued visa (looks like they don’t understand the difference between Schengen visa and residence permit). We argued for about 2 hours without any result. I’ve asked them to provide evidence of such a restriction - and got only a screenshot in some whatsapp chat. Unfortunately I found proof that I’m allowed to travel with a Dutch resident permit anywhere on Polish border control website only after returning.
Finally they gave me a hand-written paper saying that they refuse our boarding and go away. As the next day I must be in the Netherlands, I bought new tickets to KLM flight for about 4000 euros to return home.
I’m going to log a claim to LOT (and subsequently to small claims court) and need advice on what compensation I can ask.
Any advice is appreciated.

2024.05.18 03:28 fulcrumlever American with questions about moving to Morocco long-term

Hello all. I (35f) am an American that has been back in my hometown in Texas since Covid. I am looking to leave the states again and am wondering what my options are outside of here.
I am a tattoo artist of 9 years and would be relying on that for income (at least at the beginning) if I were able to make it to Morocco, but I am not sure of the specific laws there regarding tattooing. I tattooed for 5 years in Iraq/Lebanon, I am aware tattoos are technically haram within Islam but I managed to have steady business and really enjoyed myself, and as far as my research goes there are studios in bigger cities in Morocco that operate fairly well.
I have lived abroad over the years. 2006-07 France, 2013 Thailand, 2013-2017 Iraq and 2017-2020 Lebanon. I really appreciate and have gravitated towards the history and beauty of Arabic speaking countries, and I am aware and excited that Morocco is completely different from the other places I’ve lived.
I had big dreams of learning Arabic during my 7 years in the Middle East but wasn’t able to immerse myself like I did while living in France, so while I know words/phrases and can recognize some verbs they obviously change a lot depending on the dialect you’re speaking. I would be eager to learn Arabic and I find the Moroccan dialect beautiful. While my French isn’t what it used to be I understand nearly everything, have an (France affected but now mostly Lebanese) accent that suggests fluency and can have long conversations about simple/complex subjects. I would feel comfortable conducting a full tattoo session in French even if it would be a bit awkward.
The tattoo studio I worked for and helped open in Iraq was completely legit and certified by the MOH. In Lebanon, I never needed to change my tourist status as I traveled frequently enough to leave and come back, and was provided enough to work out of my private studio, obviously on the down-low (not proud but that’s just how it happened). I was always paid in local currency and was comfortable with the simple life I led and the amazing experiences I had and lifelong friends I made.
Does anyone have any insight on how I could go about this? I am aware of my privilege as an American passport holder, and while I’m not thrilled about “working on the down low” as I did in Lebanon, I can do what I have to. I’d like to get other skills I just want to be out of the US desperately. Happy to answer any questions and hear anyone’s insight. Thank you!

2024.05.18 00:34 11223344really Traveling outside of US, should the name on the plane ticket match green card or passport?

We are traveling to Mexico and my mom is a green card holder whose Mexican passport and green card do not exactly match. We are not sure what name to use for the plane ticket so she doesn’t have a problem getting through security in Mexico. Her green card has her name as (using fake name) Deborah Sofia Gomez de García, with Gomez being her surname and Garcia being her spouse’s surname. Her Mexican passport has it as Deborah Sofia Gomez Flores, with Flores being her mom’s maiden name, and García being in a separate section under surname of spouse. When she applied for her Mexican passport she was told they don’t attach surnames for women, like “de García”, anymore and just use the name given at birth. We figure the name on her passport is the way to go, but should we add spouses surname at the end or just use her birth name. Also will this affect her entering back into the US?

2024.05.18 00:31 Presence-Legal Is this one of the worse subreddits there are?

Only recently started using Reddit. Today have seen someone mercilessly downvoted for saying Irish passport holders in the north should be able to vote in presidential elections (northerners can be president, why can’t they also vote in presidential elections?). Another user was downvoted for saying that a video which made it appear that President Higgins was laying a wreath at the portal, instead of the memorial of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, was somewhat distasteful. What on earth is with people here?
