2024.05.19 12:34 AestheticallyAnn Chronic Pain & other Neurological symptoms

Since roughly 2013 I have been going through some pretty severe health issues. It began with my body hurting all over, mainly my hips, legs and knees. At this time I had no idea what was causing the symptoms & had basically become strictly bed ridden from 2013-2020, and even then I still preferred to stay in bed because my pain is so overwhelming some days, but due to my living situation at that time I had no other choice & had to learn to live with the pain. I will say moving around a lot more did help, but also not being in a toxic stressful situation helped me a lot as well. I've noticed stress is my major flair up symptom.
Anyways, in about 2020 I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. It took me multiple, countless attempts to even get a doctor to do this test on me because prior to this all the doctors I saw regarding my pain would just shrug it off due to my age, I am currently 29/yo F. They also would constantly just say that I was overweight, when majority of my weight gain was due to the fact I am constantly in so much pain. Prior to this condition I was very lively, walked everywhere & just overall enjoyed life. This disease has changed me into someone completely different....
Another common reason doctors refused to do testing on me was because "You have a big chest so majority of your pain is coming from that" (my bra is literally a size 38B..... So sorry doc, but don't think that's the case either)
Anyways, after finally finding a doctor to take me seriously she began me on an antibiotic for a month. After that month, no resolve in my symptoms, so she went to Doxycycline. Sadly, my symptoms still didn't get better so she referred me to the Lyme specialist in the city 30min away from where I currently live. Sadly, due to my situation I didn't have a way to get to the specialist until mid 2023.
After seeing the specialist he put me on 2 more rounds of antibiotics with no resolve & stated if I came back with no improvements he would want to do a spinal tap to ensure the Lyme disease had not gotten to my brain. This was extremely terrifying to hear.
After this I went though a dark period in my life due to my family doctor refusing to help treat my pain. My previous Dr had me on Gabapentin, but sadly moved locations and my new doctor denied continuing to keep me on that medication even though I stared it worked well for my condition.
I currently am now on 120mg methadone, but that is not even helping the pain sadly. Shit heroin didn't even help the pain, so now I'm left feeling crippled, slowly feeling my abilities to walk drifting away & then to top that off since being on methadone I've developed new GI symptoms, as well as an increase in my neurological symptoms.
Does anyone know any other ways to help with this pain? I just want to live a normal life, do normal things & be happy, but right now that seems impossible. It makes me so upset because I don't even recall ever being bit by a tick, constantly have people telling me I am too young to be in so much pain & overall find people are highly inconsiderate of my issues due to my physical appearance. It leaves me hopeless & feeling completely alone. It's the worst having family and friends argue with me and just call me lazy, when I am really just in so much pain that even the slightest pressure on my legs, hips or spine makes me almost go into tears. Sometimes it even feels like cold water running down my leg or tingly. Occasionally I feel this in the back of my head & the left side of my chest as well, which is new and highly concerning, yet my doctor didn't seem to care about that one either.
I feel like I'm going to end up dying if I can't find some way to resolve this pain & stop the progression of my Lyme disease :( anyone have any natural ways to heal myself?

2024.05.19 12:29 worldwonderer16 Thyroid Newbie - symptoms, blood results & FNA

Hi all! I’m a newbie to the world of thyroid issues. I’ve been reading a lot of posts to get more of an understanding - but I’m really hoping to share my journey to see if anyone else has been in a similar boat (excuse the essay)
I got covid in November last year for the second time. Everything was fine, then at the very end of the week of it I got a feeling of pressure in my chest that lasted for 24 hours. I had an ecg done and cardiac markers tested and nothing.
This feeling would come and go. At the time I had my thyroid tested after a previous high TSH over 1.5 years prior - but it came back normal.
The last 6 months has been a series of blood tests & questioning whether I just have anxiety. I got tested for celiac which one marker came back slightly positive, had an endoscopy - it was negative. The dr told me my results could be from inflammation in my body but didn’t bother to keep insisting on finding where it’s coming from.
Fast forward to the last few weeks I’ve since seen a new dr who’s amazing. And found some new interesting results: • TSH: 12.6 (3x the range) • TPO antibodies: positive - came back as 84 • ANA serology: 1:640 Titre (was 1:320 a few months ago but has increased). • moderately suspicious nodule on my thyroid - just had an FNA doctor explained it was calcified.
Now I’m going to a rheumatologist in 5 weeks to figure out whether I have an autoimmune disease causing my autoimmune thyroiditis, and also trying to determine whether it’s just hashimotos.
These are my current symptoms - •dull ache in my left side under rib cage when I lie down at night • increased acne •hair thinning around hairline and dry hair • chest pain on left side almost under armpit on side of chest. • fatigue - can sleep 8 hours and feel unrested/struggling to open my eyes in the morning. • joint aches and body aches especially when I’m inactive all day. • frequent brain fog • previous insomnia - now better thanks to magnesium • itchy dry skin • intensified TMJ jaw pain, had Botox but it’s still there
There’s been other stuff but those are the most obvious. I’ve been reading loads of posts like I said and it’s been great to see the community that exists online providing support. Just wanted to share my journey so far.

2024.05.19 12:28 KittyKat2601 2 weeks off before I start my new job, feeling lost in life, how do I make use of this time off?

I (34F) have 2 weeks off before I start a new job and I’m struggling to identify how to make the best use of my time off and how to build good habitats/work on myself when just getting through the day and wanting to get out of bed is a struggle for me at the moment.
I know the first step I need is to seek out a therapist, which I’m in the process of doing, I’ve gone through a couple that didn’t work very well for me but I’m going to keep pushing through to find a good match.
In the meantime, I have no idea what to do with myself to make the most of my 2 weeks.
I’m struggling a lot with anxiety/social anxiety, low confidence, feeling very lost in life etc. Without getting into too many details, I’ve moved to an area where I don’t have any friends or partner but I also feel like I need to work on myself first, I’m not wanting to make friends at the moment because I don’t feel ready yet so I’d prefer not to try and meet people or attend events etc. No friends or partneuncertainty about whether I’ll have children is a deep source of sadness in my life but I feel it’s a chicken and an egg situation and I don’t want to put myself out there until I’m feeling more confident/happy with myself.
I’m looking for tips on what I can do alone to start my journey of healing and loving myself (like how do you even do this?)
I’m trying to not put too much pressure on myself that I’m going to make loads of changes in the next two weeks, as I know that’s too high of an expectation. I’m feeling a lot of anxiety everyday so even just the thought of starting a new job is giving me a lot of dread where it should be an exciting time in life and something I should be looking forward to.
I wake up everyday feeling irritable/sad when I know I should be present and enjoy this time off (but maybe the fact that I’m telling myself ‘I should’ is a problem in itself and creating more pressure)
My life has been a bit of a mess for a long time, no sleep routine, not eating well, not exercising so these are things I’m definitely going to focus on even if it’s just going for a walk everyday and cooking healthy meals.
I’m also going to try and do regular meditation (I go through phases but never stick to it) and journaling but apart from that, I’m so lost on where to begin.
I’m hoping for some advice on what else I can work on or do with my time. Are there any good podcasts/books/videos/TED talks that I can look into? I know my anxiety and confidence isn’t going to fix over night but how do I get the ball moving?
I’ve started to read ‘Adults of Emotionally Immature Parents’ as I have a lot of family issues that I need to work on and can hopefully continue the work on this with a therapist.
But the whole focus around working on myself, prioritising myself, finding my happiness/purpose, not people pleasing etc is so new to me and I don’t know where to start.
Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, it’s hard for me to explain things clearly without it becoming a rant/offload.
To the wonderful women of this subreddit, where do I begin?

2024.05.19 12:27 spookyisthename99 MA Experience and tips!

First want to say this sub has really helped me get through this and I appreciate reading everyone’s stories. A true community!
On May 12 I found out I was pregnant after being 3 days late. It was the first time this has ever happened to me, I’m 29 and honestly thought I couldn’t conceive. I used Flo to track my regular periods and I was no where near my ovulation dates but anyway here we are.
I opted for a MA as I wanted things to be done as soon as possible. I was 5 weeks and 6 days by the time I took my first Mifepristone pill. I took it at 12:30 on Friday afternoon and had absolutely no symptoms from it. I had a pretty big breakfast beforehand which might have helped.
Now - day 2 - I was very frightful of. I generally get terrible period cramps every month, typically on the floor vomiting and diarrhoea with intense pain so I was so nervous about proceeding with the misoprotol. What typically helps my period cramps is watching what I eat the day before I get my period so I was very keen to try and do this before taking my 4 doses. All of the rest of Friday I ate very plain beige food - toast, banana, eggs, chicken. Nothing with spice, no artificial sugars (this I find is major for me in terms of making things painful) and no greasy/fried food. On the day of the misoprotol I started off by eating a slice of bread and a banana (I find the potassium in the banana helpful for period pain). I then proceeded to take 800mg of ibuprofen at 12:00, 500mg of paracetamol at 12:25 and then the 4 misoprotols vaginally at 12:30.
I went straight to my couch with a maxi pad and heating pad and laid down to not let anything fall out. The nerves were really high at this point worried I would feel the type of pain I sometimes get during a bad time of the month.
At 1:30 I began to feel some slight cramping but nothing more than a 2/10. At 15:00 I had my first bit of blood. It poured out quite rushed but nothing too painful.
From here anytime I went the bathroom I would have probably a cup of blood pour out of me. It didn’t feel like a period at all but really just juice coming out (sorry for the tmi). I am usually a light flow so the amount of blood was very shocking.
At 16:56 I experienced what felt like the worst of the cramps. I would rate it at most a 6/10 and it was only for 5 minutes and I would say I’ve had way worse periods than this. Heck, the period before I got pregnant had me on the ground in agony crying so this really felt like a walk in the park. I think this was the moment things really passed as after this my cramps went right to a 2/10 in pain. The relief was shocking and nice.
For the rest of the night I just ate minimal (toast and some grapes as I started to feel a bit peckish). I stayed away from coffee though I was tired, anything with caffeine can trigger my cramps worse. I took 400mg more of ibuprofen at 20:30 then went to bed at 01:30. Slept fine and woke up with my pad not nearly full.
Like I said, I’ve had periods worse than this and it was very surprising to me but today I still feel like I’m going through the works. It did honestly feel like a period and I do feel like it worked. I’m relieved and happy to feel more like myself and I hope this eases anyone’s mind before they have their MA journey. All I would say is I do think eating a plain diet before and during helped me not feel sick and make the cramps worse, so give it a try!
Hopefully I won’t ever have to come back on this sub but I appreciate all of those who have given their experience! Best of luck to everyone going through this - you can do it!

As someone who frequently uses skeet mobil chokes, I've recently come across the Iver Johnson choke tube for 20-gauge shotguns. This choke tube comes with a sleek, modern design that perfectly suits my needs.
The Mobil choke style threads on this choke tube make it quick and easy to attach to my shotgun. This feature allows for easy installation and removal without any hassle. The extended flush design works seamlessly with my shotgun, providing a snug fit and enhanced performance. I am quite impressed with the 20-gauge gauge, which is perfect for my skeet shooting needs.
While I've had a great experience with this Iver Johnson choke tube, I must admit that it can be a bit tough to remove sometimes. However, the trade-off for the secure fit is worth it in my opinion. If you're looking for a high-performance choke tube for your 20-gauge shotgun, you can't go wrong with this Iver Johnson Skeet mobil choke.

Imagine a crisp morning, the cold air on your face, and the feeling of anticipation as you take the first shot – this is the experience you get with the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube. As someone who loves testing high-quality hunting gear, I was eager to try this new addition to my arsenal. I installed the tube wrench-free and smooth, the promise of a perfect shot becoming more palpable.
The first thing I noticed was the precision-machined, heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel; it felt solid in my hands, giving me confidence in its durability. The. 725 diameter tube offered a more dense pattern, and the Triple Shot Technology made every shot count. However, I also noticed the reduction of flyers, which was a pleasant surprise.
Several times during the hunt, I found myself wishing for a little more range, but the 25% longer parallel section helped me to create tighter patterns and get those birds that others had missed. Although the product didn't come with a wrench, the wrench-less installation and quick removal was a game-changer for those on the move.
Using the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube has been a satisfying experience, and I can easily say it's worth the investment. With its precise machining and high-quality materials, it has become a reliable companion in my hunting adventures.

The Primos Jellyhead TSS Mobile. 410 choke tube has been a game-changer in my turkey hunting adventures. At first, I was skeptical about the hype surrounding the TSS load, but once I tried it out, I couldn't believe the difference it made in my hunting success.
The super-tight and evenly spread pattern of the TSS Jelly Head allowed me to land shots that I could have only dreamed of before. Installing and removing the choke tubes without any tools was a breeze, which made my life as a hunter a lot easier. I truly appreciate that the TSS choke tubes cater specifically to the TSS load, making my turkey hunting experience even more enjoyable.
Despite the incredible results I've seen, there is one aspect of the TSS Jelly Head that I think could use improvement. The extended length, while convenient, tends to snag on branches and other foliage more often than the flush-mounted ones. However, this inconvenience is outweighed by the benefits of the TSS load and the incredible accuracy that the Jelly Head provides.
Overall, the Primos TSS Jelly Head Choke Tubes are a must-have for any serious turkey hunter. Their accuracy and ease of use make them a worthy addition to any hunting arsenal.

When I first heard about the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Tube Assembly, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm always on the lookout for ways to enhance my Stoeger Condor shotgun's performance, and this seemed like just the ticket.
The installation process was a breeze, and I was impressed with how seamlessly it fit into my gun. The quality was top-notch, and it definitely met or even exceeded the OEM standards. I must say, the difference in the gun's performance was palpable. The gun felt smoother, and the shots were tighter and more controlled.
However, one downside that I noticed was that it made the gun a bit louder than it used to be. But all things considered, the benefits definitely outweighed the noise. Overall, I highly recommend this product for any Stoeger Condor user looking to bump up their gun's performance.

🔗Iver Johnson 20ga. Extended Stainless Steel Choke Tube for Flush or Extended Thread Pattern

I recently gave Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga a shot during my daily shooting practice. I was initially drawn to its sleek, extended stainless steel design and the improved cylinder mobil choke. It worked wonders on my Stoeger Condor.
The choke tube was incredibly easy to install, and I appreciated the MOBIL thread pattern that ensured a tight, secure fit. Not only did it offer a reliable performance, but it also allowed for great versatility, perfect for adjusting my shot pattern to fit different targets.
However, one downside I encountered was the choke tube's tendency to get quite hot, especially during extended shooting sessions. It might be worth considering a heat-resistant material for future designs. Overall, Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga proved to be a game-changer for my Stoeger Condor, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their shooting experience.

As a seasoned hunter, I've had my fair share of experiences with shotgun chokes. When I heard about the Primos Jelly Head Rem Choke, I was intrigued by its promising features. I decided to give it a try and see if it could improve the shot pattern and range of my trusty shotgun.
First things first, installation was a breeze. The choke tube easily screwed onto my shotgun, and it fit snugly without any issue. I was ready to hit the range and give it a test run.
At the range, I was immediately impressed by the performance of the Jelly Head Rem Choke. The shot pattern was significantly denser and tighter compared to my previous choke. I could confidently say that the pattern density had improved by up to 20%. This meant that I could confidently aim at turkeys and hit them with a higher degree of accuracy – a game-changer for any hunter.
Another great feature was the reduction in recoil. Shooting this choke felt much more comfortable as the energy from the shot was better absorbed by my shotgun, protecting my shoulder from the harsh impacts. This not only made my hunting experience more enjoyable but also allowed me to shoot more efficiently and with better control.
However, the Jelly Head Rem Choke did have its drawbacks. While the choke tube provided excellent results with Hevi-Shot, Copper Plated Lead, or Regular Lead, I noticed some issues when shooting with steel shot. The pattern became loose and dispersed, which made me hesitant to use it for geese hunting. This could be a downside for some hunters, but it didn't bother me since I primarily use it for turkey hunting.
In conclusion, the Primos Jelly Head Rem Choke is a top-notch choice for any turkey hunter looking to improve their shot pattern and efficiency throughout the hunting season. With its impressive performance and ease of installation, I highly recommend this choke tube for any hunter looking to level up their gear.

🔗17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel Browning Invector Plus Choke Tubes for Skeet Hunting

For a while now, I've been using the Carlsons 14412 Browning Extended Choke Tube Set. Honestly, the first time I took it out, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the stainless steel construction. However, a few rounds later, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the durability of the material held up pretty well, especially when I was cleaning after a hunting session—no pit marks to be seen.
One particularly impressive feature was the choke's versatility. With it, I could use various types of ammo, from lead to steel—just like the instructions specified. But one thing that I found a bit confusing was the sizing. It took me a couple of times trying out different ammo sizes to get the knack of it, but once I had it figured out, it worked smoothly.
However, there were a couple of snags as well. For one thing, I wish they had put those laser-marked notch designs on the front lip. It just made it harder for me to figure which one I needed, especially since each choke tube is identical to the next. Secondly, I really missed the convenience of the plastic storage tube and wrench that typically comes with the Browning chokes—I ended up having to buy those separately. It's the little extra touches like those that really make a product stand out.
All in all, the Carlsons14412 Browning Extended Choke Tube Set offers some cool features, and it's performed pretty well for me so far. In terms of quality, I'll give it a 4 out of 5 and highly recommend it to other Browning Invector Plus users. Just keep those missing pieces in mind, or prepare to make a few extra purchases.

I've had the pleasure of using Carlsons Delta Waterfowl 12GA 2 Pk choke tubes, and let me tell you, they've made quite a difference in my waterfowl shooting experience. Handcrafted with 1704 stainless steel, these choke tubes exude a sense of durability and reliability that I've come to appreciate.
One of the standout features is the 25 percent longer parallel section in the choke, which ensures more consistent patterns, making my shots more accurate and accurate. The knurled end also makes removing these choke tubes a breeze.
While using them, I noticed the steel shot constraint and size were laser marked on both the end and body, making it a breeze for quick reference. However, I would caution shooters to adhere to the recommended steel shot size and speed to avoid any potential damage to the choke tubes.
Overall, these Carlsons Delta Waterfowl choke tubes have been a game-changer for my waterfowl hunting expeditions. Their quality and performance are hard to beat, and I highly recommend them to fellow hunters seeking a more effective and precise shooting experience.

As I delve into the world of filters and chokes, my eyes fell upon the Hammond 158M Filter Choke, an intriguing and compact filter solution. Being a curious tinkerer, I decided to give this 158M a whirl.
The first thing I noticed was the 5" long leads that sprouted from it, reminding me of a caterpillar. It was a refreshing and unexpected feature. These leads added versatility and made connecting distant sources a piece of cake.
The chime of 262 ohm impedance output resonated within my lab, as this filter helped maintain a stable output voltage. It was like having an unseen hand that kept my experiment running at just the right current.
However, this unseen hand seemed to have a mind of its own. I noticed that the filter would exhibit less inductance at slightly higher currents and more inductance at lower ones. This erratic behavior was a bit of a headache, but it gave me an opportunity to fine-tune my experiments.
Weighing in at just 1.228 lbs, the Hammond 158M Filter Choke was an efficient little powerhouse, delivering a current resistance of 262 ohms, inductance of 10H, and a voltage capacity of 400V. It was like having an army of filters, all in one place.
Despite the occasional inductance funk, the Hammond 158M Filter Choke proved to be an invaluable tool in my quest for precision and stability. Its open bracket channel mount design and tolerance of 15% on both inductance and resistance made it a flexible and reliable choice for my lab sessions.

2024.05.19 12:25 kimbrittany Therapy is Useless

I struggled academically because of mental health difficulties, including anxiety and despair. I'm PSTD and have ADHD. On the other hand, my mother made me enroll in an online therapy course. I attended weekly sessions for five months, but it was really ineffective because I couldn't share with them because I'm an introvert and don't discuss anything with people. I also find it difficult to open up and uncomfortable to do so. It's foolish that I had to open myself to. I detested it. During my IGCSE, I started high school while I was in my A levels. My therapist seemed a little strange. It was a waste of my time and money, and my mother was pressuring and threatening to spend her money for therapy, so I was unable to get anything out of it. I was unhappily compelled to attend treatment; it wasn't my choice. Due to certain high school and hectic days, I stopped using that internet therapy. I have to cope with academic stress because A levels are challenging.
Now in 2024
It is physical during my A level (I finished my AS and began therapy only 7 months ago). I was being stubborn when I said that therapy isn't really helpful. My brand-new therapist is a weirdo. After I explain my issues and personalities, she says, "Do you know how to solve this problem?" I answered, "I dunno." She added, "You should know that these are my problems and that I should know how to handle them." Really? Oh my God? Was it she who would lead the way for me? She is very useless; I couldn't open up to her until after five months, when I started revealing my problems. They are incompetent workers that are only interested in making money. My mother is still pressuring me, having done so once more. I don't have time for that at the moment either. What should I do? I'm unable to respond. (PS: I come from a desi family, so you can be sure that people in Pakistan and India are aware of the problems we face and im a pakistani) How can one avoid going to therapy? How can I persuade my Desi parents that I don't need therapy? I've come to the conclusion that this isn't for me; it's a terrible waste of time, money, and energy. Since I took so many sessions with the new therapist, I can't even say that I'm ready to open up to her. pls help me

🔗High-Quality Stoeger Condor Choke Tube Assembly for Better Performance

🔗Stoeger Condor Full Choke Tube with .590 Diameter

https://preview.redd.it/sjet6whe0d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be8662750c635b258bac736e5bb5cf1cac2ca05a
I've been using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush for a while now, and it has certainly met my expectations. The full choke construction and the. 590 diameter proved to be quite reliable when using steel shot. It's been a game-changer for me, especially when going for long-range shots. The best part is that it's compatible with quite a few shotguns, including Stoeger Condor Tube.
Of course, there are always a few things I wish were different. For one, the steel and stainless design could use a little more durability. I've had some issues with it wearing out over time. Also, while the full choke does a good job with a wide range of shots, I've found that it could use a little more precision for the really tight shots.
But overall, despite those minor issues, I've had a great experience using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush in my daily life. It's a solid addition to any hunting arsenal, especially if you're looking for a reliable full choke that works well with steel shot.

🔗Easy-To-Use Stuck Choke Tube Removal Tool

I've been using the Carlsons Universal Choke Wrench for several months now and it has become an essential part of my gun maintenance routine. The wrench is incredibly simple but really gets the job done. Its tough design ensures that it can handle the heaviest of choke tubes.
One aspect of the wrench that I particularly love is the added keychain. It's a simple feature, but it means that the wrench is always with me whenever I need it. There's just something reassuring about knowing that I always have my choke wrench handy, just in case.
Another feature that stands out is its heat-treated stainless steel construction. It's solid and durable which gives me confidence that this wrench will last for years to come. And the benefit of not bending is very promising.
However, there is one area where the wrench falls short in my opinion. Despite its universal claim, it doesn't seem to fit all choke tube sizes. It works great for most 12, 20, and 16 gauge chokes, but for some reason it didn't fit all 10 and 28 gauge choke tubes in my setup.
In conclusion, the Carlsons Universal Choke Wrench is a great tool to have in your hunting gear. It's simple, tough, and with the added convenience of a keychain, it's always close at hand when you need it. Despite the few minor quibbles, I'd highly recommend this choke wrench to any gun enthusiast.

I recently tried out the Carlson Speed Wrench, and it truly lives up to its name. In just a few seconds, I was able to remove and insert 20-gauge choke tubes with relative ease. The wrench is small and lightweight, perfect for carrying in my hunting bag.
One feature that stood out to me was the rubber-wrapped portion of the wrench, which allows for a secure grip on the choke tube without causing damage. This made the wrench a breeze to use, and I didn't have to worry about scratching up my gun.
However, there's a slight downside to the wrench's design. When removing choke tubes, I noticed that they weren't always as secure as I would have liked. This might be due to the fact that there are no teeth on the wrench to hold onto the tube. But overall, I'm still quite satisfied with the Carlson Speed Wrench, especially considering that it's much faster than any traditional wrench.

🔗17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel Browning Invector Plus Choke Tubes for Skeet Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/ghz6kq2g0d1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71fa15cbef41a341f853e3e1bf050cf175ee4cdd

Flash flooding in northern Afghanistan killed 300+ people and destroyed 1,000+ homes. Hundreds of thousands of others have been affected. Last month, similar floods in the region killed 70+. Four died in Texas storms last week as well.
Venezuela is suffering from record wildfires, which so far this year have burned about 5M acres—almost the size of Sardinia. Some experts think indigenous people started the blaze as an attempt at forest clearance, which quickly got out of hand. “Institutional failures” compounded the disaster when the ailing government responded with an inadequate number of poorly equipped firefighters. Another study from last week examined the impact of wildfires on soil health.
Flooding and “cold lava” killed 50+ in Indonesia, injuring dozens and displacing several thousand. Cold lava is a mixture of water and rocks tumbling down the side of a volcano. Meanwhile, an actual volcano erupted in Indonesia, sending smoke & ash 5000m high; further eruptions are possible soon.
The Swiss Re Institute published a 37-page report last week about natural disasters in 2023—and how much damage, in USD, they caused. The largest catastrophe was the February 7.8 earthquake in Türkiye & Syria, which killed 59,000+ people and caused $163B+ in damage. The report is full of interesting graphics & data about natural disasters.
“Last year, economic losses from natural catastrophes reached USD 280 billion, meaning that 62% of the global losses were uninsured….the insured losses surpassed USD 100 billion for the fourth consecutive year….annual insured losses will grow by 5–7% over the long term…today’s insured losses could double in 10 years….There were 142 insured-loss inducing catastrophes in 2023, a new record. Most were of medium severity, which we define as events resulting in losses of USD 1–5 billion….Over the last 30 years, we estimate that natural catastrophe insured losses have grown by 3 percentage points more annually than the global economy (in inflation adjusted terms)...”
Flooding and heat waves are impacting Brazil’s oranges, responsible for about 70% of the world’s supply. One food analysts declared that the “era of cheap food is over”—in the UK, at least. That may be one reason why UK residents took record food bank packages last year. Madagascar is struggling to adapt to a future with far less rainfall.
France is growing more concerned about a dam on Lake Geneva, controlled exclusively by Switzerland. The Rhône River, which begins in Switzerland and flows south through France, is shrinking in summers as climate change melts Switzerland’s remaining glaciers.
The Tonlé San River has been dammed in Vietnam, lowering the level in Cambodia and sometimes drying the river downstream entirely. Meanwhile, China’s lychee harvest is getting blasted by rain, impacting the world’s largest source of lychee. And, once again, Saudi Arabia is suffering flooding in its inland regions. 7 dead in historic flooding in Iran.
The eminent climate scientist James Hansen posted that, since “human-made aerosols and their cooling effect are in decline,” the cooling effect of La Niña will be counterbalanced by these rising temperatures. He also identifies a “large anomaly of increased absorbed solar radiation at midlatitudes in the Northern Hemisphere” responsible for rising temperatures there. CO2 levels are rising faster today than they have at any point in the previous 50,000 years…and a study of millennia-old trees determined last summer was the hottest worldwide in 2,000+ years…
Record nighttime May temperatures were tied in the Philippines and Vietnam. A couple Indonesian cities broke records for May temperatures. And a number of southern African states saw more records drop. And Toronto saw a record tied for the number of days reaching 14 °C (57 °F). A heat wave has returned to Bangladesh. Flooding in Cali (pop: 2.9M), Colombia.
The University of Washington was ordered to stop a geoengineering project that scientists sere conducting from the deck of a decommissioned aircraft carrier. The experiment ejected aerosolized saltwater in an attempt to reflect solar radiation. A comparative study in Nature Communications of a number of carbon pricing found that, yes, carbon pricing does work to reduce the total CO2 emitted.
It’s that time of the year again. Wildfires in Canada grow, some of which are moving towards the tar sands—forcing thousands to evacuate. 39 of the total nation’s blazes are “out of control,” resulting in air quality alerts in the United States. Meanwhile, across the Caribbean, water shortages have become the new normal, and residents (and tourists) are finding their old consumption habits hard to change. St. Lucia has declared a water emergency. In Myanmar, water shortages worsen, particularly as related to the spiraling conflict.
At least ⅛ of Europeans live in a place at risk of extreme flooding—so says a 175-page report from the European Environment Agency posted on Wednesday. The number of people living in flood-risk coastal areas in the EU & UK is expected to jump 24% by 2050. The graphics-packed report also considers how flooding will impact healthcare facilities, mental health, wastewater treatment plants, the spread of disease, cyanobacteria, permafrost thaw, and much else.
“Europe has seen devastating floods following record rainfall, droughts of magnitudes not experienced in hundreds of years, continuing sea level rise, and increasing lake and sea temperatures….permanent water stress already affects 30% of people in southern Europe….since 2018, more than half of Europe has been impacted by extreme drought conditions….Climate change is expected to increase mercury bioaccumulation in the marine food chain due to rising ocean temperatures, ocean acidification and permafrost thawing….Depression, anxiety and PTSD may persist for years after a flooding event….Under the changing climate, northern Europe is becoming wetter in general, but drier in summer. Southern Europe is becoming drier, especially in winter. For central-eastern and western Europe, the trend is less clear…” -selections from the report
Milan suffered flooding last week, the worst May flooding in 170 years. Early spring in the UK has disrupted migratory bird species and their usual patterns.
A 74-page working paper which is not yet peer-reviewed claims that earlier estimates for how much GDP would be impacted by another 1 °C temperature rise is way less than it would be in actuality. The paper claims the real cost (in USD) is about 6x greater. They claim “global temperature has much more pronounced impacts on economic activity than local temperature” and that extreme weather is mostly behind the projected decline in productivity.

Epidemiologists are worried about how climate change in Africa may extend the life of disease-bearers like ticks and mosquitoes. Other epidemiologists are worried about how cattle may become a permanent reservoir for H5N1. Growing traced of bird flu have been found in wastewater testing in the U.S., but investigators think it may be runoff from infected dairy farms.
Obesity, high blood sugar, and high blood pressure rates today globally are 50% higher than in 2000—though researchers claim that air pollution still poses a larger threat. Of a study participants in Hawai’i, 75% had respiratory issues, probably from the Maui wildfires last year.
The 2024 World Migration Report is out, and its 384 pages are not as apocalyptic as one might think. However, internally displaced people are at their all-time highest. India, Mexico, Russia, China, and Syria lead the world in emigrants; another document contains the definitions for who exactly constitutes a migrant. Unfortunately much of the data relied upon ends in 2022. Data from this year, not included in the above report, indicates a 40% jump in traffic through the Darien Gap compared to the same time period in 2023.
“The last two years saw major migration and displacement events that have caused great hardship and trauma, as well as loss of life….There have also been large-scale displacements triggered by climate- and weather-related disasters in many parts of the world in 2022 and 2023, including in Pakistan, the Philippines, China, India, Bangladesh, Brazil and Colombia….disinformation tactics are increasingly being used by nefarious actors with negative impacts on public, political and social media discourse on migration….Forced displacement is the highest on record in the modern era…overconsumption and overproduction linked to unsustainable economic growth, resource depletion and biodiversity collapse, as well as ongoing climate change (including global heating) are continuing to grip the world….the risk of further conflict has not been higher in decades, as military spending reached a new record high of USD 2,240 billion in 2022…” -excerpts from the introduction
Another report, focusing on internal displacement, came out last week; its 69 pages show a cross-section of about 47M people displaced by natural disasters (56%) or armed conflict (44%). Most of the disasters were storms & flooding, and most of the conflicts were civil wars of some form. This report also provides detailed region-by-region analyses—with sub-Saharan Africa accounting for 46% of global IDPs.
“Conflict and violence triggered 13.5 million movements, the highest figure for the past 15 years….Disasters and conflict are presented as different triggers, but their impacts can overlap, often leading to repeated and/ or protracted displacement….Drought triggered 331,000 displacements in Somalia….Floods triggered 550,000 displacements in Ethiopia….Conflict and violence triggered 3.8 million displacements in DRC in 2023, a slight fall from the record four million in 2022, but still the second-highest figure globally after Sudan….nearly two-thirds of the internal displacements recorded in 2023 originated from Khartoum state. More than 39 per cent of the state's inhabitants were forced to flee, leaving entire neighbourhoods empty….Criminal and communal violence triggered nearly three-quarters of Nigeria's 291,000 conflict displacements….” -selections from the spotlight on sub-Saharan Africa
Experts are concerned about the mental health impacts that climate change has on our minds. Hotter temperatures reportedly increase depression & aggression. Wildfires and storms can cause PTSD. Workers feel stress and desperation as their usual industries are impacted. And air pollution influences ordinary brain processes in many ways.
Some analysts believe “Peak China” may be over, signaling a period of economic tapering-off, as well as a growing militancy. Increasing U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods are continuing to separate the two economies. The Netherlands finally formed a provisional government, though its proposed immigration & farming policies have set it at odds with the EU.
The Federal Reserve, the U.S. central bank, released a 46-page report on potential climate risks to the banking system’s resilience. As far as I understood, most of the risk lies in extreme weather events and the risk to insurance agencies.
Part of southeast England experienced an outbreak of Cryptosporidium, a diarrhea & vomiting illness, highly contagious, which can last weeks. At least 22 cases have been reported. Meanwhile, the CDC is issuing warnings about the more dangerous strain of monkeypox circulating in the DRC, although cases are currently limited to Africa.
North Carolina’s Senate voted to ban mask-wearing last week, under the reasoning that it would make police identification of protestors difficult. An fMRI study found lasting neurological changes in COVID survivors; they “had significantly higher cognitive complaints of mental fatigue and cognitive failure….even two years after recovering.” Experts say a summer rise in COVID cases is coming to the United States.
A study on The Canadian/American Great Lakes found that PFAS levels are increasing in the 3 largest lakes (Superior, Huron, and Michigan), while decreasing in the other two (Erie, Ontario). The study also found that precipitation is the primary means by which the Lakes are accumulating PFAS, since the chemicals are small & stable enough to move through the water cycle. Meanwhile, in England’s Lake District, a telecom failure resulted in raw sewage being pumped into England’s largest and most famous lake, Windermere, on-and-off for 10 hours; and a major British water CEO took a $4M USD pay package last year. And a look into the Chicago River’s health found that microplastics & trash are endangering health & biodiversity.

Violent protests—and counteroperationsare continuing in New Caledonia (pop: 270,000), a Pacific island part of overseas France. A state of emergency has been declared amid worries about a spiral of violence taking hold.
As the Sahel dries out, experts are concerned about the links to rising terrorism in the region. The Sahel accounts for over 40% of global terrorism deaths—according to the analysts’ understanding of “terrorism.” Mali in particular has reportedly become home to 41 new, different non-state armed groups (NSAGs) since 2007. A contested election in Chad resulted in the consolidation of the interim leader’s power.
“If governments are continually unable to solve regional issues, the people will be at the whim of any terror group that has a basic organization. It serves these groups’ interests to promote insecurity where they can and create security where they want. A “hearts and minds” campaign in the Sahel could lead to long-term and locally supported insurgencies in a land that is currently rife with civil strife.” -from the article
Some wargamers concluded that a Trump victory in 2020 would spell the end of NATO, or at least the end of its utility. Vladimir Putin replaced his minister of defense with a top economic advisor, just before going to Beijing to reaffirm their friendship with “no limits.” Some say Putin is planning on a forever war. Some say NATO is gearing up for one, too.
Russia made several gains in the suburbs of Kharkiv, seizing several settlements which some analysts doubt they will hold. Putin claims they aren’t really trying to take Kharkiv anyway… Russia also made small progress in the Donbas—although they suffered their largest one-day casualties since the start of the war. The U.S. allocated another $2B to hasten the delivery of weapons to the front lines. The next weeks will be crucial on the front. Switzerland has invited 160+ nations to send delegates to a peace summit intended to design a path to making peace in this War.

Select comments/threads from the subreddit last week suggest:
-Brazil’s flooding was really, really bad, judging from this post and its accompanying images. Across just one of Brazil’s 26 states, 600,000+ people have been made homeless, 100+ have died, and the storm season isn’t over yet. Some of the flooding isn’t expected to subside for another month.
-How specifically might climate change make humanity extinct? This thread crowdsources a number of plausible ways, from ordinary famines to nuclear war and even a massive deoxygenation process. I tend to think it will be a consequence of an eventual nuclear exchange, followed by extended famine and disease.

2024.05.19 12:21 Jazminaruina Probiotics gave me relief - on an upward journey!

TLDR: 3 types of probiotics daily plus 450 mg of mag citrate lessened constipation by 75%
I have struggled with constipation my whole life from 3 years old. Also am a sexual abuse survivor. Wasn’t forced to pay attention to constipation specifically until it got so bad in the last 10 years and even worse in last 2 and a half when hemorrhoids were awful and SIBO was out of control. I won’t list my whole history since many of you don’t have SIBO but I’ve struggled with: overuse of antibiotics as a kid, extreme bloating, fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, pain when eating anything, mental health issues, upper GI ulcers, celiac diagnosis not fixed with diet alone, methane dominant SIBO with candida, 3 rounds of herbal antibiotics plus elemental diet, and every diet under the sun. For constipation I’ve tried: stimulant laxatives, over 800mg of magnesium per day, senna tea, motility pro, high caffeine, low fodmap, and more but to no avail. I went every 3 days but it was a strain, blood in stool, and type 1 most days felt incomplete, no urge to go.
After starting probiotic therapy, symptoms are reduced by 75%, I go everyday, feels complete, type 2 or 3 on stool chart, not much straining, and could lower my dose of magnesium citrate in half (it was affecting my iron absorption)
My protocol: (based on dr Ruscio) 1. Lactobifido blend 2 billion cfu 2. Soil based blend 5 billion cfu 3. Saccharomyces 10 billion cfu
Taken together morning sometimes with prebiotics
450mg magnesium citrate at night in powder form
Diet: gluten free, dairy free, low to no grain, low sugar, no processed foods
I will update after 2 months! Hope this helps!

Technical Analysis
NIO Inc. (NIO) closed at $5.28 on May 17, 2024, a marginal increase of 0.38% from the previous close. The stock exhibited a price range between $5.04 and $5.39 during the trading session. The Relative Strength Index (RSI14) stands at 60, indicating moderate momentum. A reading near 50 suggests that the stock is neither overbought nor oversold.
The stock's 50-day moving average sits at $4.89, reflecting short-term bullish sentiment, as the last close price surpasses this average. However, the 200-day moving average is considerably higher at $7.39, which suggests a longer-term bearish trend. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator reflects short-term bullish momentum, recorded at 0.54, a positive value. Average True Range (ATR) is highly elevated at 6.95, indicating substantial volatility.
Support and resistance levels are set at $5.27 and $5.33, respectively, implying a narrow trading range which could break either way given the stock's volatile nature, as indicated by the ATR.
Fundamental Analysis
NIO Inc. has a current market capitalization of $10.11 billion. Its recent earnings per share (EPS) stand at -1.72, positioning the stock at a negative price-to-earnings (PE) ratio of -3.07. The upcoming earnings announcement on June 14, 2024, will be crucial for investors, especially if it shows a trend toward profitability.
Notably, Morgan Stanley acquired 10 million shares of NIO during Q1, signaling institutional confidence. Despite recent challenges—including a fall post-launch of its low-cost brand 'Onvo'—the appetite among large financial institutions remains high. Analysts project a 12-month price target median of $30, with a consensus unified in the 'Buy' category.
Mobile News Sentiment
The general sentiment around NIO has been mixed. The launch of its low-cost Onvo brand could potentially disrupt the market and attract budget-conscious consumers, though initial market reactions were negative with a 1.2% drop. However, broader market trends such as an AI-driven equity bubble could enhance NIO's value amidst a rising tide that lifts tech-linked stocks, including EV manufacturers.
Intrinsic Valuation & Long-Term Prospects
The intrinsic value of NIO is subject to how it navigates competitive pressure and operational execution. From an intrinsic perspective, the stock appears undervalued against its high future growth potential, especially considering its strategic evolution into budget EV segments and institutional bullishness.
Long-term prospects align with the global shift toward EVs and cleaner energy sources. NIO's continuous efforts in innovation, capacity expansion, and strategic launches could potentiate future valuation appreciation, contingent on stabilizing profitability metrics over time.
Performance Predictions
Next Trading Day (May 20, 2024):
Given the current indicators, minor price fluctuations within the close support and resistance levels are expected. The stock might test resistance at $5.33.
Upcoming Week:
Price action is likely to display higher volatility, possibly breaching established resistance levels driven by broader market sentiment and investor interest from institutional buying. An upward trend towards $5.50-$5.70 could manifest if positive sentiment overrides recent declines.
Overall Evaluation: Hold
NIO appears better categorized as a 'Hold' candidate. The negative earnings and high volatility pres [...]

2024.05.19 12:18 No_Stock_8448 Looking for guidance on how to best work with doctor to get a diagnosis after 4 years of symptom management.

Hi. I am looking for guidance on how best to work with my doctor to get some clarity on the cause of some symptoms I’ve been dealing with for the last four years. If this is something I should go directly to a specialist to, please let me know.
Background: Four years ago I had a health episode, which was characterized as a hypothyroid episode a year later by an endocrinologist. (The episode happened during the pandemic and thus it took a long time to see a specialist. Had it not been for the pandemic and how overwhelmed the hospitals were I would have called an ambulance). The episode was me waking up suddenly in the middle of the night with a racing heart and inability to move due to sudden muscle weakness. I was eventually able to lift myself out of bed after 4 hours but remained in bed for the day. Heart was racing for the next three days and didn’t start coming down until day three. I lost about 15 pounds over the week following. I became super emotional and started crying easily (which was very uncharacteristic for me) and started experiencing low blood pressure and hypoglycemia as well as intense fatigue. My sleep was wrecked. I couldn’t sleep for more than an hour or two before my body would suddenly wake me up. My doctor at the time sent me for blood work (CMP) and I tagged on a order for CRP (in the state I lived at the time you can order your own test) due to the irregular heart activity and both came back normal. My PCP at the time could not identify a diagnosis and did not provide any recommendations for treatment. (Again this was mid-height of the pandemic so doctors were overworked and burning out, so I get it, but it was hard to not have an answer.) Ultimately I self managed by leaning on my healthy eating and lifestyle habits (whole foods based diet, avoiding sugar and process foods and prioritizing rest and stress reduction). I also got a therapist to help me deal with anxiety caused by the lack of sleep and got a psych evaluation just to be thorough given the sudden crying fits. Psych evaluation came back clear. In the end I quit my job and moved back in with my parents because management of my symptoms became a full time job. After nine months of diligence I was able to put back on 10 of the 25 pounds I lost in total the 2-3 weeks following the episode. After a year and a half I was able to stop the (non-diabetic) hypoglycemia, and got a diagnosis of POTS which explained the low blood pressure and some of the exercise fatigue. After two years I was finally able to hit six hours a night of sleep and within six months was back to eight.
For the most part I’m okay now. I’ve put all my weight back on, my sleep in restored, no random crying fits, my exercise intolerance continues to improve and I’ve even been able to expand my diet after being put on a low-FODMAP, gluten-free dairy free diet 10 yes ago after food poisoning. However every six months or so, the symptoms start to creep back in. Sleep disruption is usually the first sign. I’ll find myself waking up after 4 hrs, usually with a racing heart and after an intense vivid dream. The weirdest part is the time distortion. The four hours feels like eight. Then the exercise intolerance starts to creep and the weight starts dropping.
A bit more context: this most recent episode (what spurred this post) is happening while I take a break from animal-based protein. (I have painful monthly periods due to endometriosis and noticed last month a reduction in pain and that I didn’t eat meat a few days leading into the period.) I’ve been eating beans and rice to get a complete protein and each meal has carbs, fat, veg protein and fiber. I may have a problem breaking down fat (just based on my own observation of what I notice with bowel movements, the color turns orange/yellow after my period and for the first half of my cycle), and I noticed yesterday that the internal chatter we all have (you know that worrying and nagging part of us) has gone quiet. That part has been nice actually but it’s uncharacteristic for me. I’m usually more driven and results focused. Currently just meh, not depressed (feel good about self and life) just apathetic. I’m also the most active I’ve been since the episode. Currently walking 20 mins/day 5/days per week with no exercise fatigue!
I can usually self manage but I’d love to work with my doctor to get to the bottom of this. I’m in a different state now (NY) and have a new PCP, but I’m wondering what testing should I be asking for to get answers and if I should instead ask for a referral to a specialist and if so which one. I thought it was an endocrinologist but my endo related bloodwork always comes back normal, so not sure if that specialty still makes sense. Four years is a long time to self-manage and I’m appreciate any guidance in pointing me in the best direction.

2024.05.19 12:16 No_Pomegranate7134 You're a bounty hunter, this time you are assigned to assassinate a dictator, but in doing so triggers a world war resulting in your country getting invaded then nuked at the end. Would you really do it?

A high ranking politician who defected against the regime will offer you a large sum of money since they know you are a bounty hunter, but you have to complete this objective:
Assassinate the dictator they assigned. (But do not deny a world war will happen!)
You can't assassinate or steal the reward from the individual who assigned the objective to you as they are government officials and work for organizations akin to the CIA, you'll be listed as an international fugitive for their murder and theft. You can't call the police on these people due to their political affiliation and connections, so they can't really be arrested the same way how normal criminals can.
Disappearing out of thin air, won't really do anything, no matter how many fake identities you create, you cannot really fake your own blood, spit or other DNA for that matter, as that clandestine organization has far more advanced resources to trace your whereabouts no matter where you are in the world without you even realizing it, can you really compete against them as a lone bounty hunter?
Conditions to be met from their end:
Risks to consider:
Let's say you managed to enter their soil covertly, without being seen, but carrying their objective is difficult due to the heavy presence of security surrounding a politician influential and powerful like Kim Jong Un or Putin.
If you are caught assassinating their leader, it is on you with a war now being declared, you will be considered a political prisoner and be subjected to severe torture. (You will now be considered their enemy, trapped in a brutal regime where your government has no jurisdiction.)
If you managed to evade detection, even though they did not know it was you, they will still consider it an act of war as you have killed their leader. (You returned home, but there is news about your actions and 100% a world war.)
Consider the severe implications for doing so:
Complied with the order Recanted the order given
You opted to assassinate the dictator, but you are bound to be met for a declaration of war to your country and allies. You decided not to follow through, as you are aware of an incoming war for doing so, everybody remains neutral.
Following that, the regime is pissed off, resulting in the occurence of a world war. Nothing really happens, but the dictator remains alive, but everybody is safe.
Bloodshed occurs, resulting in many deaths, you receive money but your family including others are killed due to the war going on. You receive no monetary reward, instead you are reprimanded for refusing the order (sent to prison too), as you considered humanity.
You cannot call the police in this situation, as the enemy troops are invading your country, continous bloodshed escalates. You remain at peace, with nothing horrid happening, even though you received no reward, deciding to not start a conflict.
It is not just your country being invaded, along with other nations too being affected by your actions, you are easy prey to these people, they are dangerous. You have nothing to worry about, as there is no target on your back, since you did not do anything to provoke the regime, everyone is unaffected due to no war.
Eventually a nuclear warhead is used, decimating most of the population with a high chance you will die, or barely survive. There is no looming threat, like mentioned, you did nothing. You have a moral compass to spare everybody from a looming catastrophe.
If you survived the explosion, be ready to adjust to living in an environment akin to fallout, everything around you is contaminated. Everything remains as it is, nothing is destroyed as you and the rest of humanity remain at peace, since you refused the order, but stuck in prison.
The world has completely changed following the usage of a nuclear warhead, but the explosion is worse than in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. The world remains at tranqulity, as in no one dies from a nuclear fallout, everybody lives in harmony, you are in prison but your relatives and others can live without worry.
In saying that: (Which one is more important, based on the outcomes for each?)

🔗Carhartt Ground Force Waterproof Work Boots: Comfort, Protection, and Style

I had the chance to try out the Carhartt 6" Ground Force Composite Toe Waterproof Boots in Men's Brown, and I must say, they have been quite an experience. These boots are designed for those working in tough environments, and they definitely live up to that expectation.
The first thing I noticed was how comfortable the Insite technology footbed is. I was able to wear these boots for long hours without any foot fatigue. It was great to be able to focus on my job without being bothered by my feet.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks that I couldn't quite shake off. The boots felt a bit heavy, and the ankle support could be more effective. Additionally, some reviewers mentioned they had problems with the boots not being waterproof, which is a major concern for those working in wet conditions.
Despite the cons, I must say that the Ground Force boots are a game-changer for those looking for comfort and durability in their work boots. They are well-designed, and the features like the FastDry lining and EVA midsole really make a difference.
Overall, the Carhartt Ground Force Composite Toe Waterproof Boots are a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable work boot. Just be prepared for a bit of adjustment time as you get used to the fit and feel of these boots.

When I wore the Carhartt Wedge Boots for the first time, I immediately noticed the soft, unlined casual upper that felt comfortable from the start. The stylish wheat oil-tanned leather uppers were perfect for both work and casual settings.
However, the lack of arch support made my heels feel like they were on fire by the end of the day. Despite the cushioned foam footbed and good-looking design, the footbed didn't offer the best fit for my wide feet. Overall, the slip-resistant Goodyear welt construction and wicking lining made it a suitable choice for construction and landscaping situations, but the comfort level left something to be desired.

I've been wearing these Carhartt work boots for about a month now, and I must say, they've really made an impact on my daily work routine. The leather is top-notch, and I appreciate the Storm Defender membrane that keeps my feet nice and dry even on those damp workdays.
One of the features that stood out to me is the dual-density rubber sole - it's incredibly comfortable, and I find myself walking more confidently on uneven surfaces. The Goodyear welt construction is another highlight, ensuring that these boots will last for a long time, even with the occasional accidental bump.
That being said, there were a couple of downsides to these work boots. The break-in period was a bit longer than expected, but once they fit comfortably, it was all worth it. Another minor issue was the size - I usually wear a 10, but I found that these boots ran a bit big, so I had to go for a smaller size.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with my Carhartt work boots. They're a durable and comfortable choice for long hours on the job, and I feel more confident wearing them on the construction site. I hope more people can experience the benefits of these boots, just like I have.

I recently got these Carhartt Waterproof Soft Toe Hiker Boots, also known as the FP5070-M ones, and they've been a game-changer in my outdoor activities. One of the features that stood out to me was the Vibram Arctic Grip outsole for superior traction in wet and on ice. As someone who spends a lot of time in slippery environments, this came in handy on a recent hike where I had to cross a narrow bridge over a fast-moving river.
The olive nubuck leather and high abrasion resistant 1260D material was also impressive. I couldn't help but notice how resistant these boots have been to scratches and wear, especially after a particularly rough day at work. The waterproof and breathable membrane worked exceptionally well too, keeping my feet dry even when I had to wade through knee-deep water in a swamp.
However, there were a couple of cons that I noticed. Firstly, they fit a bit snugly, so it was a bit of a struggle getting them on and off. But overall, the benefits outweighed the minor inconvenience. Secondly, I found them to be a little warm during the summer days. But considering they're waterproof and offer great support, it's a trade-off I'm willing to make.
All in all, these boots are a solid investment if you're looking for reliable, comfortable footwear to take on rugged terrains or challenging outdoor activities. The combination of style, durability, and comfort makes these boots perfect for both work and play.

I recently started using the Carhartt Men's 6" Brown Waterproof Work Boots, and I'm quite impressed by their performance so far. The first thing that stood out to me was the leather upper – it seems durable and looks sleek. But the true test came when I encountered wet and damp conditions at work. The Storm Defender waterproof and breathable membrane really kept my feet cozy and dry, which was a huge relief. I also appreciated the FastDry lining, as it wicked away sweat and moisture, keeping me fresh throughout the day. The cushioned insole was a game-changer, providing support, comfort, and reducing foot fatigue.
However, there was a downside to the break-in period. The boot initially felt a bit stiff, which made it uncomfortable to wear for long periods. But that's a common issue with work boots, and I expected it. Another thing I noticed was the potential for stitching issues, as one customer had mentioned. I'll keep an eye on that, but so far, so good. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and I'm looking forward to putting these boots through their paces in various work conditions.

🔗Carhartt Work Boot - Rugged Design, Durable Protection, ASTM Certified

For years, I've been on the hunt for a rugged and comfortable pair of work boots that can withstand the test of time, both on and off the job site. After trying out several pairs, I finally stumbled upon a winner: the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Steel Toe Work Boot. The first thing that caught my attention was the brown leather, paired with the Carstrong durable reinforced fabric that protects against wear and tear without being excessively heavy. The boots' FastDry technology lining is a game-changer for me, as I tend to sweat quite a bit in the heels of my footwear.
One of the standout features of this pair of boots is the composite toe that protects against both impact and compression hazards, ensuring I am always safe on the job site. The rubber heel bumper provides extra stability and protection, while the EVA midsole with cushioned polyurethane insole offers great support and shock absorbance - something my feet appreciate after long hours on my feet.
The Rugged Flex rubber outsole not only offers durable traction but also keeps me feeling flexible, enhancing my overall comfort while I'm at work. However, there have been a couple of cons worth mentioning. For instance, the boots took a bit more time than I would've liked to break in properly, which disrupted my workflow for a few days. Additionally, the FastDry lining didn't seem to work as effectively as it should have, leaving me with sweaty feet at the end of the day.
Despite these minor setbacks, I have found the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Steel Toe Work Boot to be a reliable and comfortable choice for those seeking top-notch work boots. The pros undeniably outweigh the cons, making these boots a worthy investment for anyone looking for durability, protection, and comfort in their footwear.

These Carhartt work boots have become a staple in my daily life. The leather upper and rubber outsole make for a durable and reliable footwear option. I was a bit skeptical about the removable insole, but it provides great cushioning and support. The fit is true to size, and the boots have a nice, snug feel around the foot.
One issue I did encounter is the tongue stitching. It gets in the way of putting my foot in the boot, which is a bit inconvenient. Also, I've noticed the FastDry lining doesn't do much to control odor, so I have to clean them more often than I'd like.
Despite those minor drawbacks, the boots have held up well during my day-to-day activities. The removable insole is a great feature and adds to the overall comfort of the boots. I would recommend these Carhartt work boots for anyone in need of a tough and reliable pair of boots for work or play.

As someone who loves the convenience of sneakers when it comes to working hard, but also needs the support and durability of proper boots, I was excited to try the Carhartt Force Lightweight Sneaker Boot in Men's Coyote.
From the moment I first wore them, I was impressed by the lightweight knit upper and the protective, abrasion-resistant heel and toe counter. The fact that it has a slip and oil-resistant Carhartt Force rubber sole made me feel confident that even though I spend a lot of time working outdoors and being exposed to various weather conditions, these boots would hold up well.
Another notable feature for me was the FastDry technology lining, which kept my feet comfortable and dry during my long, tiring days at work. The light and high rebound EVA midsole, along with the Insite technology comfort footbed, provided the cushioning and support I needed, even after countless hours on my feet.
However, there was one drawback to this otherwise great pair of boots. As mentioned in the title, the boots had a slightly oversized heel and were not as snug or comfortable as I would have preferred. Additionally, while I appreciated the soft toe design, it did make the boots feel looser than I had hoped.
Despite these minor issues, my overall experience with the Carhartt Force Lightweight Sneaker Boot has been positive. It's a versatile and functional boot, perfect for those who want the comfort and flexibility of sneakers, combined with the support and durability you'd expect from a top-notch work boot.

Recently, I had the chance to try out a pair of Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex 6-Inch Waterproof Steel Toe Work Boots in brown. In terms of durability, these boots truly lived up to their promise. The oil-tanned leather and reinforced fabric provided a long-lasting wear that I appreciated as I went about my daily work tasks. The lace closure was a great feature, giving me a more secure and custom fit, which was important to me as I was often on my feet for long periods of time.
One of the standout features for me was the FastDry lining, which helped wick away sweat and fight odors. It kept me feeling fresh and dry even on the warmest days, which was a welcome relief. The composite toe offered excellent protection against impact and compression hazards, and it met ASTM 2413-18 standards. This gave me the peace of mind I needed when working in potentially dangerous environments.
The rubber toe and heel bumpers added stability and protection, while the EVA midsole with cushioned polyurethane insole provided support and shock absorbance. The Rugged Flex rubber outsole offered durable traction and flexibility, making it a great choice for tough outdoor work environments. I also appreciated the secondary protection against incidental contact with electrical circuits of 18,000 volts or less under dry conditions and the ASTM 2413-18 EH standards.
Though the boots were generally comfortable and supportive, there were a few minor drawbacks. One was that the insole was not as cushioned as I would have liked, which made long periods of wear less comfortable. Additionally, I found that they ran slightly big in size, which took some time to adjust to.
Overall, I was very impressed by the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Boots. They provided the comfort, support, and protection I needed for my demanding work environments, and I have no qualms about recommending them to others.

Imagine a day in the life of a Carhartt Ground Force Men's 6" Waterproof Composite Toe Work Boot wearer. He wakes up to the comfortable, supportive cushioning that reduces fatigue, all thanks to the Carhartt footbed with Insite Technology. He laces up his boots, feeling the durable oiled leather upper and the Storm Defender waterproof, breathable protection keeping feet dry and comfortable. As he starts his day, he heads out into his construction project, walking on earthy and rocky surfaces, his boots standing up to the test.
However, after some time, he notices his soles are starting to crack and peel - a clear sign that these boots aren't as sturdy or durable as he thought they were. The boots he bought 18 months ago should be in good shape by now, but they're not. He wonders about the boot's durability and if it's worth the investment.
He also expresses his dissatisfaction with the customer service. He reached out to the company multiple times but received no response. It seems like the brand isn't as committed to its customers as it claims to be with its products.
Overall, he appreciates the comfortable features of the Carhartt Ground Force Men's 6" Waterproof Composite Toe Work Boot. However, the concerns about the boots' durability and the lack of customer support cast a long shadow over his experience with the product. Would he buy these boots again? It's a difficult question, but the current quality and support issues make it a challenging decision.

I recently tried on the Carhartt 10" Traditional Welt Comp Toe WP Boot, specifically the 15 Men's Brown variant. Right off the bat, I was impressed by the oil-tanned leather and suede upper coated with high abrasion PU. It gave the boot a rugged yet premium feel. One feature that I found quite appealing was the molded rubber toe bumper and the Carhartt Heel Guard. It provided great support and protection to my feet while on the job without compromising on flexibility.
The Storm Defender waterproof protection was another aspect of the boot that stood out to me. Working in a rainy environment, I could feel the water resisting capabilities of the boot. It did a great job protecting my feet from getting soaked.
However, one downside I encountered with these boots was the removable foam cushion insole with TPU arch support. While it offered some comfort, it felt a bit off after some time, giving me unnecessary pressure on my arches.
Another thing I was a bit disappointed with was the rubber lug outsole, which while offering excellent traction and slip resistance, wore out much faster than I expected for a boots in this price range.
In conclusion, overall my experience with the Carhartt 10" Traditional Welt Comp Toe WP Boot was satisfactory. The boots have shown good support and protection for my feet, but they could use some improvements in the comfort and durability departments.

2024.05.19 12:10 MathematicianFit8682 AITAH for telling cops about a man who sa me and dropping a friend who let it happen

I S Hi I’m new to this reddit thing so sorry if I make any mistakes.Basically this all happened a few months ago me(f 16) and my friend(f 14) I’ll call her meep we’re having a sleepover, she was on her phone most of the time which I didn’t think to much of when she then said to me hey can a few of our other friends(both f 14) come which I said sure because we where all friends now when they first came we did basic things girls do at sleepovers like doing eachother a hair and stuff until one of my friends takes something out of her bag I didn’t really cat eat first thinking it was something like clothes or make up until I get a good look at it and realised she had bull a bottle of beer out.Meep seeing this was like omg you actually managed to get it in your bag with my other friend I’ll cal her Lew said ya and bragged about how easy it was at first I wasn’t to keen on it since it being in my house but out of pressure drank it.A while later me and my friends start planning the day ahead of us now jump to the next day me and my friends start walking which all of them weren’t to keen on since it was a 1 and a half hour walk but sucked it up to our town (btw we live in a small town in a small country) anyway we where walking to a park originally but we all got hungry so we walked to supermarket but my friend (I’ll call this one royal)went to her house to pick up stuff and a bit later lew had to get something so it was just me and meep just sitting around eating on a platform when royal came back us three we’re walking around when we saw royals boyfriend(m 14) and his older brother(m 19) royal then started running after them yelling out to them and so then a bit later royal was flirting with her bf and me meep and the brother were just sitting around then we finally meet up with lew we then decided to go to the park together which ended badly in a fight where police where called but that’s not important anyway a bit later my friend called her bf and made sure he was ok and he said why don’t we try hanging out again tomorrow w which she without asking said yes so now me and my other friends had to go out again without being asked if it was ok with us but we also didn’t really care since most of us did wanna get out of the house so another jump to the next day me and my friends meet up with them we did give to walk to their houses bc they needed to get ready but after that we had a bit of fun the bf claimed a roof followed by royal lew and meep who tried but chickened out they told me to clime up but I said hell no I ain’t stupid they also tried getting the brother to but he told them to piss of he then sat of a rubbish bin which o tried to as-well but couldn’t jump high enough until he showed me how.Once we where done we went to the park well except for meep royal and her bf who went to her house to pick up something so me lew and the brother where on our way to the park when we got there we sat in this tunnel looking thing and just started talking to each other me and lew where sitting next to each other when he decided to sit in the middle of us which I thought was weird at the time but said nothing bc I didn’t wanna try make it weird bc again he was 19 but anyway my friends came back and we sat in this tree house looking thing I was mostly sitting with lew when hake moved away for a bit and then the brother sat down next to me I though it was weird bc there was room other places then he put his hand around my shoulder I looked up and royal was just winking at him and me I tried to signal to her that I was uncomfortable but she was still acting like it was nothing I then signalled to meep and unlike royal got the hint right away and thankfully said Alr guys let’s go it’s getting late and said we had to go I then got up and walked with meep royal complaining about leaving said fine and asked them to walk us home which they agreed until after a bit lew told them to go bc she didn’t want them knowing where I lived which I was really thankful for after that royal and her bf kissed goodbye and left which I was gonna do until I felt someone behind me grab my waist and kissed my cheek and gave me paper with his Snapchat I was gonna throw it in a puddle when lew asked what was in my hand so I explained what it was and she said oh how cute and asked if I was gonna add him dis it’s wanting to say no and wanting to tell her what happened I honestly can’t explain it but I just couldn’t but I have her the paper which she added him and made a gc with me him her and royal which was then when they made plans to sneak out with them and go on a night walk they asked me and meep to come which meep said no bc she thought the brother was a creep and I tried to say no but once again with pure pressure said yes royal and lew where to busy getting ready to even thing about meep in which I said hey why don’t I just stay here with meep and keep her company which they laughed and said cmon let’s go,it was 10:30 at night when we snuck out them excited to see them and me paranoid on my mum getting mad about me disappearing when we meet up with them me lew and the brother walking ahead I was holding hands with lew originally but the brother grabbed my hand and so we where all just walking I was ok with it but the thing that threw me off was what royal was saying she was just making very sexual jokes about me and this 19 yr old man which I was uncomfortable with but was to shy to say anything about once we got to the place which was under a bridge we just sat down and talked about stuff lew then went some place else which was then followed by royal and the bf I tried running off but royal told me to stay back so I did now it was just me and the bf brother idk why I didn’t think this would happen but he sat really close to me and that’s when he did it at first he just grabbed my face made out with me which I tried to say no or stop but I was to scared to say thing and then he just started touching me places and I tried with all my might to get him to stop but couldn’t then I heard yells from royal saying she couldn’t find lew me using this as a reason to get away yelled I’ll look for her and tan off I wasn’t actually looking for her though I was on a bathroom trying with all my might to not let out any tears which was really hard then I heard yells so I looked out and realised it was meep who had secretly been following us so I used her as a opportunity to get away and then said hey you guys look for her I’ll leave with meep signalling to her I wanna leave which again she understood and acted tired and said ya I wanna go now so we did which I then turned around and saw the brother just following us I let him follow us idk why but once we where around the block I said to him my house was close and he could go which I waited until he had actually left to start walking home and obviously I wasn’t near my house there was still a twenty minute walk which I just started braking down my friend was just hugging me and said it’s ok and saying what did he do to you which say I don’t know why but I just couldn’t say anything once got home I threw up I could still feel him everywhere in my mouth on my thighs and on my waist and other places I wanted scream all I could think about was how I was such a slut and couldn’t even say anything or stop it I wanted to die I wanted just anything to get the memory and taste out of me I then started telling my self about how worthless I was and how I my mother really did raise a stupid and pathetic person after a bit I fell asleep with my dog next to me (he’s a American bully)so I thought that I could at least have some sort of protection after a bit my friends came back and fell asleep I knew this bc they really don’t come back some quiet and woke me up now this was the last day they where at my house so they all went back to their houses and i really do wish I I could say this was the end I really really do but sadly this was not after going back to school and acting as if everything was fine and nothing was wrong I realised that royal and lew haven’t been to school for a while and the next day lew came to school and I found out that sadly the brother 🍇ed her when I found this out I feel apart I was sick shocked and just didn’t know what to do my friends told her to tell our health teacher she’s the teacher who deals with situations like this so she did the teacher said she could miss a few classes and stay in there with me and meep that was when I told them what happened to me they where both mortified that was then when lew reveille the brother wanted to grape me aswell and even told her he was gonna and how he would ask to hang out and to it at the same place he did to her I was honestly shocked and paralysed with fear remembering how he actually asked to hang out a the other day anyway I then asked her what she wanted to do bc our teacher suggested telling the cops tbh I really didn’t want to bc I was trying to keep this whole thing away from my mum but knew I had to so I walked to the police station with a few other friends and told them everything after that I knew I had to drop royal she literally let everything happen even with lew I’ll explain later with lew but we dropped her now obviously that east’s she was just making up excuses and even said that the brother was forcing her to say and do things and then started yapping about how he forced her to do those things but I saw right threw her lies so did keep but idk why but lew actually believed her until she also finally saw right threw her lies oh also brother actually has a gf who is his age ik real shocked expected her to be 8 anyway recently the cops did find him and I’ve got a meeting with one of them oh another big thing turns out we ARNT the first people he’s sa wanna know the first person he did? Get ready 🥁🥁his fucking brother ya that’s right he literally graped his brother and it gets worse he did it when the boyfriend was fucking 8 anyway I might not update for I bit but I promise there will be one

2024.05.19 12:09 Silent_Marionberry60 Confused if SOB is due to DCM or asthma

My father 65M was diagnosed as idiopathic DCM with Ef at 15%. After 2.5 years now it's 40%. Echo shows normal PA pressure. He is on sotalar, remipiril, jardiance, apigat. Last year he had SOB. ECG showed hr of 44. Cardiologist reduced sotalar dose and changed diuretic to torsemide. It got better.
Now again he is SOB. Cardiologist says all heart related test are fine and he referred to a pulmonologist as he heard mild ronchi sound while exhaling. Pulmonary function test is normal. Chest x rays shows pulmonary congestion as per pulmonologist and his impression is - small airway obstruction. He is now on budesonide inhaler 200 mcg twice a day from 4 days. But still no relief. Cardiologist also had a look at chest xray and said it's asthma and and there's no pulmonary congestion as per him.
So I am confused if we should wait few more days for inhaler to work or try to convince cardiologist to up his diuretic dose? Can all heart tests like ECG, echo, blood work, BNP be in normal range( DCM normal) and yet patient have SOB ?

2024.05.19 12:05 SleipnirRanch Was i abused?

I'm 42m.
I have never had close friends and have no family. I try to think of why i turned out like this. I grew up in a middle class home. My dad made ok money but worked night shift my entire childhood, he rarely spoke to me or did things with me. My mom was a stay at home mom until i was a teenager.
I think most days my parents did not really interact with me except for essential things, so they gave me food and clothes, but doing things with them was very rare, like we went on vacations maybe 3 or 4 times during my childhood. I never learned to ride a bike or to swim. I think i learned to tie my shoes when i was 12, i taught myself. I remember that i did not learn to use the bathroom until i was 3, and that also i taught myself, i didn't understand for a long time when i was at other peoples houses or my cousins houses why they had small toilets for the babies.
I remember specific things that happened that stand out in my mind as being especially bad. There are 3 that i can think of.
When i was like 5 or so, i remember being in my room very cold. I didn't understand at the time, but later i came to understand that our house was very drafty and cold in the winter because we had wooden windows and they should have been painted about once a year, they were not maintained and so did not shut all the way were always cracked open a small amount. Also the furnace did not heat the whole house, it only heated it until the thermostat on the 1st floor reached it's preset point, so the upstairs was usualy 10 or more degrees colder. My mom didn't think that we needed blankets (my sister and me, she is about 4 years older). We had sheets on the bed and that was all. I don't remember if it was my sisters idea, i think it was, we went into the hall closet at night to get more blankets and my mom caught us and yelled at us and made us put them back. She said that the blanket i took was a wedding present and i didn't need it. Years later i remember my sister as a teenager having several arguments with my mom about a comforter that she had bought herself. When i moved out of the house i stole that same blanket that was still folded up in the closet never used. Still have it.
When i was 9 i got very sick. My mom thought i had some kind of flu. I kept throwing up. She did not take me to the doctor. She always said how dumb it was how people took their kids to the doctor all the time just because they were sick. She kept giving me ice cream because she said that was good for throwing up and keeping energy up. I was sick for i think more than a whole week, not sure if it went on for 2 or not. Still didn't take me to a doctor, i kept throwing up. Then one day i collapsed and they called an ambulance. It turned out that i was diabetic and was throwing up because my blood sugar was too high.
Later, i think i was 12 or 13. I developed ingrown toenails. My big toes would bleed and ooze every day. When i came home from school they would be stained with blood and some yellow. My mom would yell at me for this and scold me for not taking better care of my feet. This went on for about 6 months. My mom got a foot bath for me, and told me to soak my feet in warm water and gave me these sharp sticks to try to pry the nail out of the skin, but it didn't work. Eventually she did take me to a doctor who performed the surgery to cut the toenails out.
Other things that i remember, smaller things, were things like i asked to join the boy scouts at one point and my mother told me she didn't have to do that because she had already done that when my sister was in girl scouts, and i asked to learn to ride a bike at one point and my parents told me i was too old to go ride a bike with training wheels so i wasn't allowed. I told my mom at one point that when i grew up i wanted to have a family with lots of kids, and she told me i couldn't have a family because of my diabetes, it was going to be too expensive.
My parents never hit me, or denied me food, and when i got diabetes my mom would always track all of my sugar levels and how much insulin, she still has stacks and stacks of the monthly sheets for tracking everything the doctors office gave us. But i don't remember ever playing with her or my dad, my dad didn't take me to football games, though he went with my grandma all the time, they had season tickets together. My parents never told me i should join anything at school like sports or anything.
The older i get, the more i think of these things, and look at how much i hate my life, and i blame them and get angrier at them, i hate them. They are in their 70's now, they invite me over for dinner, on the weekends sometimes, i hate going over there, when ever they text me asking me to go i yell at my phone and i wish they would both die already.

2024.05.19 12:03 matryoshka_03 I'm ashamed to go back to my endocrinologist

Hello guys. I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes when I was 15, I'm 21 now and my endocrinologist told me I reversed my condition. My A1C went from like 14.1 to 5.8a year ago if I'm not wrong (I don't exactly remember the numbers). However, I was severely stressed out at the time where my A1C got to 5.8 after quitting a job where the manager triggered a mental health episode that completely fucked me up emotionally and I started eating sugar again not touching it since my diagnosis. While that was going on, I burnt myself out a new job I got and the stress was so high that I begged my dad who lives abroad to go study there for a while just so I could escape my country. However, I wasn't exercising there are much as I burnt myself out with exercise for the last 3 years and can barely do it without getting super stressed out, since it made me start developing anorexia (at one point I was eating only ~700 a day) I also started taking medication there that made me gain weight and I wasn't able to lose it for a while. I'm now on vacation and I gained some weight back, and my blood sugars are higher than usual cause I haven't been watching my shit at all. I'm super ashamed to go see my endocrinologist. She was so proud of me when my A1C decreased over the period of a few years and i lost a lot of weight. Honestly, I'm at a loss. This has been on my mind for a very long time..

2024.05.19 12:00 LilliepupYT (At LEAST) One Headcanon For Every (Former) Chromatic!

SO LIKE- I MADE THE WORST HEADCANONS EVER THE OTHER DAY- SO HERE'S A FEW FOR THE OLD CHROMATICS
Gale - He actually has a bit of a playful side, and he's nice to anyone who's nice to him. (If) he has time off, he'll sometimes help Lou with his snow cone business, usually simply by suggesting better locations to sell them at than Mystic Mountain.
Surge - He and Brock are really close friends. He's one of the reasons that Brock even gets out (Ofc not excluding 8-Bit and Rico). He's 100% more of a show-off than an actual hero. Also, his favorite games are DDR's.
Colette - She and Edgar are cousins, so she always pesters him by either ranting about HER headcanons, fanfics, and who she's currently obsessed with. She also often tries to pressure R-T into telling her juicy secrets about the Brawlers.
Lou - He's actually friends with Surge, and they've been trying to perfect an energy drink-flavored snow cone for quite some time. Lou's also completely oblivious to why his snow cones aren't selling.
Colonel Ruffs - While he may seem tough, he has a soft side. He loves being pet and playing fetch, but would do anything to not admit it. He also feels a bit like a father to Squeak, and doesn't seem to notice Eve's feelings for him.
Belle - She's one of the smartest Brawlers in the entire park. She's not actually a villain, and she only steals as a vain attempt to run the park broke. The only thing she and her gang's been able to do is annoy them.
Buzz - He absolutely loves being in control of any and every situation he's in. When under pressure, he's actually a decent leader. He took his job as a lifeguard for 2 reasons: The authority, and so that he could sit in the tall lifeguard chairs to make up for his height.
Ash - (Oh boy, one of my favorites. Now which one do I choose...) Ash created the R. A. T. S. Bots himself, and he somewhat treats them as if they were his kids. He hates Kit for multiple reasons. While in battle he can get pretty upset, most of the time he's actually mundane.
Fun Fact: It's canon that Ash wants to be an actor, (In the Spanish version of Brawl Stars, it says it in his bio. See for yourself)
Lola - She hates Mico with every fiber of her existence. She only deals with Gray since he doesn't talk, but still gets upset when he "gets in the way". Her favorite thing to do is to see how dramatic she can make a situation.
Fang - He's usually the one dragging Buster into most of their chaotic situations. He surprisingly gets along well with Lola. He's also really into sports, especially baseball and football. Soccer is a close third.
Eve - At first, when joining the Starr Force, she simply wanted to be with Ruffs to support her kids. Over time she realized she had more complex feelings. She has mixed feelings about the Botany trio.
Janet - Friends at the beginning, her relationship with Melodie quickly shifted into a rivalry when she started to take a more "aggressive" approach when it came to their music. A lot of the time Janet's responsible for Bonnie, which can easily get out-of-hand.
Otis - He likes messing with Hank, but never takes it too far, since he's actually a bit scared of him. His favorite places to graffiti consist of the surrounding area of the Stunt Arena (What I like to call the Stunt Show area), within the Velocirapids water park, and even on the Fantasy Castle walls.
Sam - He used to love robots, and was decent a making them, until the incident that left Belle with only one arm. He claims he hates them, but he actually still likes them, he just doesn't put as much trust into them anymore.
Buster - While he's slightly more cautious than Fang, he still gets into a lot of trouble with him. He only wears sunglasses to try to look cool and menacing, which actually surprisingly works with some people.
Mandy - Chester's her adopted brother. She likes having him around sometimes so she can let her anger run loose a bit on him when no one else is there. She hates to admit it, but she's a bit impressed of how high Chester's social status is.
R-T - (OH GOD- We got to my other favorite. Uhm-) He's fluent in sign language. Despite literally his entire existence being to answer and interact with the visitors, he's a bit introverted. He's also pretty jumpy, but can be menacing when he wants. He's somewhat like a little brother to the twins, but also the leader. He actually has a bit of a chaotic side to him, but his programming blocks most of it out.
Not-So Fun Fact: His two halves are sentient, the upper half being more stick-to-the-program, while the lower half is more of the heart, creating relationships with the other Brawlers. When he's all together, he has internal conflict. :(
Maisie - She loves the thrill of danger, which is why she's dealt with Fang and Buster for so long. She also loves watching horror films, and practically any other movie or show that's high in adrenaline.
Cordelius - He may be hostile to strangers, but he's also really protective of his friends. His closest friend is Lily, who when he met, despite his usual hostile demeanor, took her right in with almost no questions asked.
Pearl - Sam had actually built her a long time ago as a gift for Belle before the incident. When he re-discovered her, he decided to give her a chance. She quickly became like a daughter to them.
Charlie - She's actually Gus's older sister (He was born AFTER their family moved from France). While he was into ghosts, she always loved spiders. She owns 2 pet tarantulas, named Flux and Tango.
THIS TOOK ME AN HOUR WHAT- MOST OF THESE I HAD TO COME UP WITH ON THE SPOT SINCE THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE IN PARTS- WHOOPS

2024.05.19 11:57 Interesting_Tangelo1 My cat is destroying me (and my carpets)

Might be a lengthy read.. I always try to give as much detail as possible..
My Mathias is a 7/8 year old neutered male. I found him during a road trip at a truck stop in the middle of no where when he was about a year old. Love him to death. He's the sweetest boy.
We moved to a new apartment back in November. He was great for a few weeks and then everything went downhill again and my carpets were ruined in my living room. In case anyone is wondering, yes, the issues were present anywhere else we've lived as well..
Believe me, I know taking him to the vet is the first step. I took him twice within a month since December last year. Blood work, urine test, fecal test, x-ray.. $1000 later and they said he's slightly constipated, but other than that, completely healthy. He was on dry food up until then because I actually had no idea wet food was better. So since then, he's been fully on wet food with probiotics and Metamucil added (vet recommended). I know saying to go to the vet is the best advice in this scenario usually, but I really wanted to make clear that he's gone and he's healthy.
More context that might be important.. He's fat. He lived with my family while I was in school, and ballooned up in weight. So right now he's on a diet and he's not a very happy camper. So.. not perfectly healthy, but he doesn't have a UTI and his kidneys/heart/etc are fine.
Over the last couple weeks he's started peeing on the carpets in my bedroom. The living room is blocked off so he can't get to the carpeting in there anymore. I'm losing my mind. Last weekend when I barely opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was him peeing. Thing is, he does this and then runs to his food bowl. Maybe 30 minutes ago I turned around and he was peeing in that same spot again. And when I got up to grab paper towels, he ran straight to his bowl. Is this to get my attention? I typically feed him right when I wake up, so when he peed last weekend, I waited nearly an hour to feed him. I didn't want him to think that pee = food. I'm not sure if that was right to do, but I wasn't taking any chances.
I tried everything I saw when I read on reddit about people in similar situations. But I usually end up seeing most advice being about taking the cat to the vet, which is why I'm making my own post.. I've gotten additional litter boxes, different typed of boxes (high sides, low sides, extra wide, etc) I've used different litter (he ended up only liking the one he's always used), I clean the boxes 2 times a day, I've moved the boxes to where he's peeing and he will use it, but he'll still go on the floor next to it. I got a litter robot and then returned it because he wouldn't use it.. I've done almost everything I can think of except hire a behaviorist.
His behavior typically is very laid back. He just wants to be pet and take naps. He'll usually lay on his back next to me so I can scratch his tummy. He likes to play with my hands and run around. Nothing about him tells me he's stressed or unhappy, but I could be wrong? I figured the move at first would definitely stress him out.. but 6 months?
I'm exhausted. I've lived here for 6 months now and I will not have any friends over because I'm SO embarrassed of the smell. It's awful. Those of you who have had cats like this know the toll this takes on your mental health.. I've had this cat for almost a decade. Giving him away is literally the last thing I want to do. But I can't do this for another 5-10 years. I'm at my limit. He's been banished from my bedroom tonight and I put his beds in the kitchen (tile flooring). It breaks my heart leaving him alone like that. I just don't know what to do.
Please, if anyone has dealt with a cat like this, let me know if anything you did helped.. Recommendations for cleaning products to get rid of the smell would be great too.. I've made my peace knowing I'm not getting my security deposit back.. Thanks <3

2024.05.19 11:57 boardSpy Any Tips for a HCIM going for Desert Treasure 2?

Hi,
I want my Questcape back on my HC. I finally finished getting all the requirements for Desert Treasure 2 on a second account. My HC is my main and always was (for OSRS at least). The account I leveld up now is actually my old RS3 main.
I'm planning to do the quest on both accounts parallel. First doing each boss/fight on the second account and once i'm comfortable and gained enough muscle memory switching to the main. The second account is only cb 95, so it's going to be a lot harder compared to the HC but that's a good thing imo.
I already looked into a lot of guides and stuff. But do you know of any tips or niche strategies specifically for Hardcores to minimize risk of death? Also any warnings about some dangerous stuff during the quest that maybe is overlooked or not even mentioned in guides?
E.g. im kinda scared about the Mysterious Stranger. I fear that i get into a situation where i don't have food on me and getting instantly teleblocked not being able to defend myself or escaping her. Any tips on how to be always on the safe side here?
Apart from the 4 bosses, do any of fights have a high chance of stacking me out from above >80 hp? Part of my strategy (i also used in other quest like Dragon Slayer 2) is to basically stay above 100 hp all the time if possible and tele out early if my hp gets uncomfortable.
My Internet is very stable, though i also have emergency internet via bluetooth-tethering from my phone. I will always be wearing an Escape Crystal with timer activated, probably going to set it to 4 seconds (Should be enough for PC or client crash?).
Stats and Gear
CB 122 Melee 95+, Ranged 92, Magic 95, Prayer 84. No Rigour, no Augury.
Gear:
I would be glad to hear anything that comes to your mind. Also links to any guides/videos you think are helpful and maybe not so well known or easy to find are welcome. I for example can't find any video of HCIMs doing DT2 on YouTube. YouTube search sucks sadly (or i am just bad at choosing the correct search terms) and only shows me low budget midlevel iron DT2 videos, which are also very helpful of course.

2024.05.19 11:56 Smilesalot4114 Birth control induced mcas?

Is it possible that 4 days on BCP, after being a long hauler previously, caused mcas?
Took BCP for 4 days, off it for 6 now.
Current Symptoms that started 10 days ago: Anxiety, depression, increased temperature, diarrhea, increased BP (119/77 to 143/86) & RHR (68 to 74), stronger tinnitus, severe RLS at night only sleeping 1-2 hrs at a time, leg pains over veins, bulging veins in legs mainly but also hands, psoriasis flare and expansion on ankles and elbows, dry skin that felt on fire on my body, legs that felt like fire ants were crawling on them, dry mouth, headache, noticeable veins over whole body and insomnia. So many of these overlapping with my previous LC experience.
About Me 36/F 5'5" 208lbs, PCOS, psoriasis, hypothyroid, reflux, Gastroparesis, dry eye, infertility and IDWA. On Nexium, synthroid, prenatal, CoQ10, D3, B12, omega 3s, and miralax 2x/day.
2021 infection after 3x moderna, tinnitus, pots, exertion intolerance, post viral Gastroparesis, dry eye, brain fog. 4 months post infection had GB removed, helped symptoms a lot. 2022 and 2023 boosters went totally fine, no issues. Modified diet, worked w/post covid clinic & by 2023 besides tinnitus & GP, felt great and was cleared by every specialist at age 35 to try for a baby.
2023 Conceived and lost 3 pregnacies in a row. First in Sept at 10w miscarriage, then had COVID 3 weeks later - took paxlovid and it helped tremendously, didn't feel like any symptoms worsened. Next December and Feb. By the 2nd pregnancy I was severely iron deficient from my limited GP diet & pregnacy (ferritin 4, iron sat 21%, iron 30, abnormal mch/MCV) and I feel that contributed to the 2 later losses, first was random genetic. IV iron Infusions necessary bc didn't tolerate oral with GP, did 4 and just finished 4/30 - getting updated iron bloods Monday.
Now Stopped BC 4 days ago when it became unbearable & went to PCP, they're baffled as the extreme leg and vein stuff doesn't fit bc side effects. Sent me & no DVT on duplex US, told stop BC, wear compression socks, take magnesium, elevate, watch BP. I wake up at night with knee and below feeling hot, woke up shaking one night. BP and RhR 5 days out have started to stabilize 🙏 but even now I still experience side of neck tightening, yesterday and today had major sharp headaches when I never get headaches in my life and one eye blurry - it went to my teeth and then my left eye felt a bit of pressure and now is slightly blurry despite my eye drops. Tonight I was sound asleep when I was woken up at 3:45am by a sharp headache and pins & needles from my armpits to my hands, then pressure that lasted 15-30 mins. Are these migraines?
I can't believe 4 fucking pills did this all to me. Is this mcas? Autoimmune? Hormonal? Dr ruled out DVT with us but that's it so far.
Any help or suggestions of what to look into. extremely appreciated. 🙏
